Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Kevin Gray are UK europe correspondent, given this terrible story
- 0:03Speaker 1: about the snow resort in Switzerland. What's going on?
- 0:07Speaker 2: Yeah, so the bodies of five skiers have been discovered
- 0:11Speaker 2: there and Ryan this is all at the very exclusive
- 0:15Speaker 2: luxury zoomat resort, but high up from where normally skiers
- 0:20Speaker 2: would venture. The five bodies were discovered a day after
- 0:24Speaker 2: emergency services were alerted by a group of climbers ascending
- 0:27Speaker 2: what's called the Rivschish, a four two hundred meter peak
- 0:32Speaker 2: in the Valet Alps. They had discovered several pairs of
- 0:35Speaker 2: skis left unattended near the summit, and then using airal
- 0:39Speaker 2: and ground searches they found the bodies. The victims were
- 0:43Speaker 2: at varying altitudes on avalanche debris in high altitude areas
- 0:47Speaker 2: near the Swiss Italian border. Obviously, at the moment we
- 0:51Speaker 2: don't yet know the names the identities of those but
- 0:54Speaker 2: as I said, this is a luxury resort very popular
- 0:57Speaker 2: with British and other European skiers. There's been some unusual weather.
- 1:01Speaker 2: They're actually in a separate incident. On Friday night, they
- 1:04Speaker 2: were involved in a challenging mountain rescue rescuing four who
- 1:08Speaker 2: were stranded amid fog and high wins, but they thankfully
- 1:13Speaker 2: were all brought to safety.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And the European Union Trump going at it again, well,
- 1:18Speaker 1: Trump going at the European Union that says over the terriffs.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Turns out the ninety day pause could just be ripped
- 1:23Speaker 1: up next week.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yes, all eyes I think really focused on America when
- 1:28Speaker 2: it wakes up on Monday and what Donald Trump has
- 1:31Speaker 2: to say. He's now threatening to slap a fifty percent
- 1:35Speaker 2: tariff on all goods sent to the US from the
- 1:38Speaker 2: European Union. In response, We've had a pretty robust response
- 1:43Speaker 2: from the EU Trade Commissioner Maras Sefkovich. He's saying the
- 1:47Speaker 2: EU US trade must be guided by mutual respect and
- 1:51Speaker 2: not threats, and that we stand ready to defend our interests.
- 1:55Speaker 2: But this will really concern the EU because it is
- 1:59Speaker 2: one of Washington's largest trading partners, sending roughly eight hundred
- 2:04Speaker 2: and ninety billion New Zealand dollars worth in goods last
- 2:09Speaker 2: year and buying though just sort of eight hundred billion
- 2:13Speaker 2: New Zealand dollars worth, So a big, big difference in
- 2:16Speaker 2: the discrepancy, and that is something that Donald Trump is
- 2:20Speaker 2: obviously very very angry about it.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I can see the Germans are getting quite exercised about
- 2:24Speaker 1: it this morning as well. Thank you so much for that,
- 2:26Speaker 1: Kevin Gray are UK europe Correspondent.
