- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by the hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here and you're about to listen to a hypnosis
- 0:43session all about pain or perhaps just UN useful signals
- 0:49that you experience in your body.
- 0:51And I think the best example of this phenomenon is something
- 0:54called phantom limb syndrome. And that's where someone might
- 0:58have had an amputation, maybe they were in an accident,
- 1:01they've lost an arm or a leg, and yet it still feels itchy or
- 1:04tickly and sometimes even painful.
- 1:07And that's because the neural pathways that know how to
- 1:11experience those kind of things still exist, even if the limb
- 1:15itself doesn't. Now, I was working with someone
- 1:18that had particular painful sensations in their face and it
- 1:24was something similar because they had had all of the
- 1:27neurological investigations and there was no underlying cause.
- 1:31So we can call this false positives.
- 1:33It was nerves and neurons firing off to create the sensation of
- 1:38pain even though it wasn't useful.
- 1:41And they had experienced some electrode therapy called
- 1:44scrambler therapy, which was designed to reset their nerves.
- 1:49Now this is a hypnotic metaphor version of that.
- 1:52It's not designed to be scrambler therapy.
- 1:54It's designed to do something that is similar on the basis
- 1:59that what we're doing is we are having the core suggestion that
- 2:03nerves can have false positives, but almost to re educate and
- 2:08teach the nerves how to actually experience other sensations and
- 2:12scramble the pattern of false firing of pain.
- 2:16So I would say this is going to be useful if you've got chronic
- 2:20pain or just random sensations that don't seem to have any
- 2:25actual cause other than the random firing of nerves.
- 2:30So if you can relate to that, you might get some benefit of
- 2:32this session. Obviously this client had the
- 2:34sensations around their face and their mouth, so therefore if
- 2:39your pain is somewhere else, just disregard those suggestions
- 2:42about the mouth and make it relevant to wherever you feel
- 2:46pain in your body. This is not designed to be a
- 2:50substitute for medical treatment.
- 2:53This is only if you've had confirmation that there is no
- 2:56actual medical problem there and it's just chronic pain or false
- 3:01pain, in which case you might get some value from this.
- 3:03But definitely speak to your doctor about that.
- 3:06And if you like the idea of working with me directly or
- 3:09having a bespoke session for your particular issue, I would
- 3:13encourage you to look in the description, book the free
- 3:16consultation called and we'll have a chat over Zoom because it
- 3:19might be that I'm the right hypnotherapist to work with you.
- 3:23For now though, you might get some value from this session, so
- 3:25find a quiet, comfortable place where you're not going to be.
- 3:28Disturbed. Relax.
- 3:30And enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 4:00you breathe in, breathe in that feeling of calm and relaxation,
- 4:07and as you exhale, feel that feeling of release, as if any
- 4:15feeling of tension, worry or anxiety is starting to melt away
- 4:23and feel like it's leaving your body.
- 4:26In your outward breath, breathing in, relaxation and
- 4:34exhaling tension. And notice your eyelids feeling
- 4:39heavier and more relaxed. And with your eyes closed,
- 4:43notice how much easier it becomes to focus on the sound of
- 4:52my voice as you breathe in relaxation and exhale tension,
- 5:01each breath taking you deeper and deeper, relaxed.
- 5:08And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become.
- 5:14And the more relaxed you become, the deeper you breathe.
- 5:20And as your physical body relaxes, particularly around
- 5:25your jaw, your imagination awakens.
- 5:31And I want you to imagine a lovely relaxing flight being one
- 5:40of those large, comfortable recline chairs.
- 5:46And I want you to notice how easy it was to feel comfortable
- 5:51back then. And just imagine you're back in
- 5:55that chair on your way to a place you want to get to.
- 6:06And I want you to make an evaluation.
- 6:12The reason you're able to relax and enjoy that flight, it's
- 6:18because there's nothing you have to or need to do.
- 6:24Someone else is flying, someone else is organizing.
- 6:30All you need to do is relax. And you have complete trust,
- 6:37faith, and confidence in all of those variables that you're not
- 6:43in control of. And what you are in control of
- 6:50is those things that you can do while you're on that chair and
- 6:58you can watch a movie, you could read a book, you could eat some
- 7:06food or drink a drink, or just drift off into a dreamlike
- 7:12sleep. I want you to imagine you're
- 7:16about to drift off in a dreamlike sleep as I count
- 7:22downwards from 5:00 to 1:00, with each descending number
- 7:28enabling you to drift off in what feels like a dreamlike
- 7:32sleep. 5, just releasing all the tension in your face.
- 7:39And then four, your neck and shoulders just feels limp and
- 7:43loose. And then three, your arms and
- 7:46legs. Just imagine they feel so limp
- 7:49and loose and heavy, like the limbs of a puppet with no
- 7:52strings. And then two, as you breathe in,
- 7:58all of your internal organs relax your lungs, your heart,
- 8:03your stomach, everything inside releases any pent up tension.
- 8:11And one, feel a ripple of relaxation from the top of your
- 8:14head down to your toes, all the way back up and then to the tips
- 8:17of your fingers. As you can imagine, drifting off
- 8:23into that dream like sleep, that's it.
- 8:34Deeper and deeper, relaxed, perhaps noticing the rhythm of
- 8:45your breathing, rising up and falling.
- 8:53That's it. And as you arrive in this
- 9:01dreamlike sleep, in this deep, calm place, I want you to
- 9:08imagine a different type of chair, something a bit more
- 9:14medical or professional. And I want you to imagine you're
- 9:24being presented with some soft golden pads of pure light,
- 9:34almost like they're electrodes of pure energy.
- 9:40Than as you sit on that professional chair, I want you
- 9:45to feel that these pads are attached around your mouth,
- 9:55either side of your nose. But these aren't metal and no
- 10:00wires, just glowing pads of healing light.
- 10:08And they are not placed on any specific part of pain, but
- 10:14around it, surrounding it, enclosing it in a safe field of
- 10:22comfort. And I want you to see a
- 10:27professional with the ability to send energy to those pads, and
- 10:36those pads will activate. It will fire off certain nerves
- 10:47as a way of recalibrating and resetting and training all of
- 10:52the nerves around your mouth. And as they rest there, those
- 11:00glowing pads, they begin to awaken.
- 11:06And each one of those pants is carrying a different kind of
- 11:10soothing message. And you know those nerves
- 11:20beneath the skin haven't been firing right?
- 11:25Because sometimes they've given you pain and sometimes other
- 11:29strange sensations, sometimes static, sometimes moving,
- 11:36sometimes odd and mild, and sometimes deeply uncomfortable.
- 11:45But now, each time a pain signal tries to rise up, I want you to
- 11:52imagine it being intercepted by these golden glowing pads.
- 12:00And their job is to scramble, overwrite and reset these faulty
- 12:07firing neurons, these nerves that are sending signals they
- 12:12shouldn't. Consider them trainers, training
- 12:20your nervous system to send the right signals at the right time
- 12:28to replace any pain with new non pain information.
- 12:37I want you to imagine the old harsh static fades and in its
- 12:43place comes something new, something gentle and something
- 12:48healing. And I want you to think of five
- 12:54pairs of these golden pads, these emotional electrodes.
- 13:02And the first pair begin to flow, sending the gentle warmth
- 13:07of the sun on your skin as if you're standing in spring
- 13:12sunshine. And I want you to imagine that
- 13:17sensation all over your face and around your mouth.
- 13:21Soft, calm, soothing warmth, reminding your nerves what
- 13:29comfort feels like. And then and the second pair
- 13:36awakens, sending the refreshing coolness of cool, refreshing
- 13:45water on your skin. And you could imagine a cold
- 13:49shower, a swimming pool or perhaps even a mountain stream
- 13:57and just imagine it washing away discomfort, leaving only
- 14:03clarity, purity and ease. And then feel like the third
- 14:13pair are switching on. They're starting to glow,
- 14:17bringing the sensation of silky softness brushing across your
- 14:22skin. Imagine the colour of a
- 14:26particular type of very soft silk, smooth and gentle,
- 14:34brushing across perhaps your cheek, your lips, close to your
- 14:40nose, as this feels like it's training your nerves to notice
- 14:46these delicate sensations. But allow this soft silk to
- 14:53remind your body of safety, of tenderness, of calm touch.
- 15:05And then the fourth pair activates.
- 15:07Now they're starting to glow, and that carries the signal of a
- 15:13crisp, refreshing taste of mint. And that might be a mint sweet.
- 15:21It could be a mint leaf, or it could be a flavour of dessert or
- 15:28ice cream. But I want you to imagine that
- 15:32taste again is updating and calibrating those nerves
- 15:40beneath. Cool, clean, energizing.
- 15:44A reminder that your mouth and your nerves and your body can
- 15:49feel light and refreshed. And then I want you to imagine
- 15:58the 5th bear hair begins to pulse, and this one feels like a
- 16:06gentle heartbeat, a pulsation, a rocking cradle.
- 16:14And sometimes you can feel a pulse somewhere in your body,
- 16:18sometimes your neck, your wrist, or somewhere else.
- 16:25But I want you to imagine training your brain to look for
- 16:29these subtle pulses within your skin, your tongue, or around
- 16:37your mouth. Consider the pulsation almost
- 16:45like a lighthouse. Steady, regular, reassuring,
- 16:53reminding you of balance, stability and peace.
- 16:59And then imagine all of these five pairs of golden pads all
- 17:06working together, and whenever an old pain message or a strange
- 17:14sensation message comes up, their job is to scramble it,
- 17:19confuse it, collide memories of other sensations of feelings to
- 17:26train it so that it replaces it with new signals of comfort and
- 17:33normal sensations. And I want you to imagine that
- 17:40whenever you come back to this, it will build on any previous
- 17:47experiences of scrambling to update nerves and neural
- 17:53pathways. Because if a person without an
- 17:59arm can imagine the sensation of a tickle or an itch on an arm
- 18:05that doesn't exist, then it means that you can experience
- 18:12pain in your mouth and your tongue that doesn't belong
- 18:17there. It is not the mouth or the
- 18:20tongue or the lips that's the problem, just the message going
- 18:26from brain to body. And I want you to feel that this
- 18:31is resetting at all because you already have the neural pathways
- 18:38to know how to have proportionate sensations.
- 18:44You should only have pain if you accidentally eat or drink
- 18:49something way too hot or bite your tongue without realizing.
- 18:57These are justifiable reasons for pain.
- 19:01Any other pain is a false signal and these glowing pads will
- 19:08scramble those false signals, training you to only receive
- 19:15real signals. Each wave of non pain
- 19:21information teaches the nerves what is true and what is real
- 19:29and that your body can feel safe and that your mouth can feel
- 19:34normal. That you no longer need pain to
- 19:38protect you. And with each signal, your
- 19:43nervous system learns and relearns until the new pattern
- 19:49becomes the natural one. But before you leave this
- 19:57professional chair, but after all the glowing pads have been
- 20:03removed, I want you to imagine another chair close by.
- 20:11And it's time to invite someone in that it would benefit your
- 20:16health and well-being to forgive that person.
- 20:23The forgiveness isn't for them, it's for you.
- 20:28And in forgiving, you get to release any anger, resentment,
- 20:34frustration of the past. So imagine that person there in
- 20:39that chair, and they don't have to say anything, but you can let
- 20:47them know that you forgive them. And when you say it, it feels
- 20:59like you mean it. And when you mean it, you get to
- 21:03release. And what if you release just one
- 21:09toxic emotion that has been causing all of this?
- 21:15Well then it's worth it, as the more of these heavy and useful
- 21:21emotions you carry, the more you can interfere with good health.
- 21:29And as you forgive them, you might see an expression on them,
- 21:35maybe relief, maybe gratitude, maybe ambivalence.
- 21:41Their reaction isn't important, it's your decision to do it
- 21:47that's important. And each time you visit you can
- 21:53change the person or change what you're forgiving them for.
- 21:58But every time you get to release something holding you
- 22:04back or interfering with the quality of your life, they then
- 22:15leave. You feel a sense of retraining
- 22:21your nerves and releasing an emotion.
- 22:26And then imagine finding yourself back on that aeroplane
- 22:29just as it's about to touchdown. But it's touching down to a
- 22:36future that's desirable for you. Better quality of life,
- 22:42experiencing more of the pleasurable emotions and less of
- 22:45the ones you don't, and feeling a new sense of balance between
- 22:53acceptance and control. And as you depart the plane,
- 22:59find yourself returning back to your present.
- 23:02Taking a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 23:06nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 23:09wiggle your toes as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you
- 23:15starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8 open your
- 23:24eyes. Open your eyes, 910 wide awake,
- 23:28wide awake, wide awake. Thank you so much for joining me
- 23:36on. Today's episode.
- 23:38Of the hypnotist. And if you've enjoyed this?
- 23:41Show or got some benefit from it.
- 23:44You may know of one other friend or family member that may also
- 23:49benefit from this hypnosis session, In which case I'd like
- 23:53to ask a favor of you. And that is if you could spend
- 23:5610 seconds to share this episode with someone that you know, that
- 24:01may also benefit. That would really help me to
- 24:04access new people that don't already know about this show.
- 24:09You very much for listening and I will see you again on the next
- 24:13episode.
