Bass Vision: Your Tacklebox Needs Four Colors
A team from Illinois and Cornell measured 246 individual cone cells in largemouth bass eyes and found only two types — one green, one red. No blue cone at all. Then they tested it on live fish: bass couldn't tell chartreuse from white, or blue from black.
The takeaway is four buckets: bright, green, red, and dark.
