- 0:03Speaker 1: Ogft crew. We're back.
- 0:06Speaker 2: I hope everyone out a safe and happy and wonderful
- 0:09Speaker 2: fourth AJ is back and we have a lot to
- 0:12Speaker 2: discuss with him, So give us like two minutes and
- 0:15Speaker 2: then we're going to get into the exclusive conversation with
- 0:18Speaker 2: AJ about his tour, including meeting the Pope. AJ, good
- 0:21Speaker 2: to see you, but also we're going to see you
- 0:23Speaker 2: in person in one week, actually, exactly one week from today.
- 0:27Speaker 1: We just announced it the other day on social media.
- 0:30Speaker 2: We're going to be in Philly, of course for All
- 0:32Speaker 2: Star and we're going to be bouncing around, but we'll
- 0:34Speaker 2: also have a little home base at Ironhill Brewery. So
- 0:37Speaker 2: I just want to let everyone know if you are
- 0:39Speaker 2: going to be in the area and you would like
- 0:41Speaker 2: to say hello, you will see us there. Kratz and
- 0:44Speaker 2: I will be stationed there more so than AJ, but
- 0:45Speaker 2: you'll see a little bit of AJ there as well.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Wait, I don't even know what I'm doing here, So
- 0:52Speaker 3: that's the.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Beauty of it. Show up, show up, and it's a mystery.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I don't know. Yeah,
- 1:01Speaker 3: I mean iron Hill Brewery. Thanks for having us. It's
- 1:04Speaker 3: going to be a fun time in Philadelphia. People that
- 1:07Speaker 3: have never been to Philadelphia for a game or for
- 1:09Speaker 3: an event. It's it's a pretty awesome place with all
- 1:12Speaker 3: the all the sporting events, as Krouts knows, all kind
- 1:14Speaker 3: of held in one little area. So it's gonna be
- 1:18Speaker 3: it's gonna be a fun event, and uh yeah, I'm
- 1:20Speaker 3: looking forward to it.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Yeah, it's all kind of all the sporting events are
- 1:24Speaker 4: crammed down there, but a lot of people that come
- 1:26Speaker 4: to games, they just go to the big parking lot
- 1:29Speaker 4: and see their game and then leave, come down to
- 1:32Speaker 4: Ironhill Brewery and you'll see a little bit of downtown
- 1:35Speaker 4: right there, right there in center city. A lot of
- 1:38Speaker 4: cool stuff going on.
- 1:39Speaker 2: The Philly Show also will be doing shows there, and
- 1:42Speaker 2: same with is this a great game or what? Tim
- 1:44Speaker 2: Kirkchen and his son Jeff. So we're excited about that.
- 1:47Speaker 2: And the network just keeps growing. We're popping out babies
- 1:50Speaker 2: left and right. Mile High Territory just launched last week.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Late last week we announced it. There's Troy Rank who's
- 1:57Speaker 2: been on the scene writing in that area for a
- 1:59Speaker 2: long time, very good opinions, very well informed. Ryan Spilborgs
- 2:04Speaker 2: is everywhere. Spilly's on the broadcast every day working around
- 2:07Speaker 2: the team. He knows what's going on. They deliver the goods.
- 2:10Speaker 2: They had some really strong opinions and show one, so
- 2:13Speaker 2: I encourage you to check it out. Mile High Territory.
- 2:16Speaker 2: We're almost at the finish line of every team being
- 2:18Speaker 2: covered individually on the FT Network.
- 2:26Speaker 1: There's a lot going on here.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Urie Perez went seven perfect innings against the A's as
- 2:32Speaker 2: the Marlins swept them.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And the Marlins are on fire. But fans were pissed.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Even opposing fans were pissed right and Sacramento fans were like, shame, shame,
- 2:41Speaker 2: shame to the.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Marlins dugout when they pulled him at ninety two.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Pitches, AJ, is this as simple as you gotta let
- 2:48Speaker 2: him ride because he had two innings to accomplish, likely
- 2:51Speaker 2: would have been getting himself towards the who knows one
- 2:54Speaker 2: fifteen plus pitch range. They had ninety ish pegged for
- 2:57Speaker 2: him because it was only his third star back from
- 2:59Speaker 2: a hamstring injury on the island. Urie Perez has not
- 3:01Speaker 2: been the clean bill of health. So what do you
- 3:03Speaker 2: do here? Or is there just no win? If you're
- 3:06Speaker 2: Clayton mccullott, Marlins manager.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Well, there's no win and he has to do what
- 3:10Speaker 3: Peter Bendix tells him. Also, so let's not forget that
- 3:12Speaker 3: he's he was told exactly how many pitches. And this
- 3:16Speaker 3: is where it becomes a hard, a hard thing in
- 3:20Speaker 3: this game, because that Jacobs. You know, managers, the games
- 3:24Speaker 3: are scripted. They have green and red krats. You know this,
- 3:26Speaker 3: They have green red. This is where this guy's going
- 3:27Speaker 3: to pitch. And then the good managers figured it out
- 3:30Speaker 3: when things don't go according to the script, and the
- 3:32Speaker 3: ones that don't last are the ones that, oh I
- 3:34Speaker 3: didn't know what to do when it got off script. Well,
- 3:36Speaker 3: here's the problem. He was throwing a perfect game. He
- 3:38Speaker 3: was absolutely dominating. I think he would have gone out
- 3:41Speaker 3: there and probably got it done. We never will never know,
- 3:44Speaker 3: but gosh, it's like one of those like once in
- 3:46Speaker 3: a lifetime opportunities that maybe just let it ride. I mean,
- 3:50Speaker 3: Phil Humberg throw a perfect game, right, Dallas Braden's known
- 3:52Speaker 3: for throwing a perfect game. Mark what's the guy for
- 3:56Speaker 3: the what's his name? I was gonna say Marquez, but
- 3:58Speaker 3: that's not his name. Jermaine right, German? What was it
- 4:01Speaker 3: you guys remember his name? That Herman? Yeah, Domingo herman
- 4:09Speaker 3: through the perfect game, right, like so Felix, you know,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and then you have greats like Felis Hernandez that have
- 4:14Speaker 3: done perfect games. But this is your one shot to
- 4:16Speaker 3: do something historic. It's sad that he couldn't do it.
- 4:20Speaker 3: I understand why the Marlins didn't do it. Doesn't mean
- 4:22Speaker 3: I'm a fan of it, and clearly the people in
- 4:24Speaker 3: Sacramento were fans of it.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Uh.
- 4:26Speaker 3: And then to make matters worse, obviously they almost blew
- 4:28Speaker 3: this game. They did win. Trevor May took his shots,
- 4:32Speaker 3: but I think I would have at least let him
- 4:34Speaker 3: go one more inning to see where he stood. If
- 4:36Speaker 3: he gets through the eighth, then it's like, okay, I
- 4:39Speaker 3: gotta let him go. But here's the thing. That's why
- 4:40Speaker 3: they didn't let him get to the eighth, because if
- 4:42Speaker 3: he gets through the eighth clean, then they're like, well,
- 4:44Speaker 3: we gotta let him go now. So the easy decision is, oh,
- 4:47Speaker 3: he's on his pitch count, let's take him out after
- 4:49Speaker 3: seven and ninety two.
- 4:52Speaker 4: I just everything Aj said about it could have been
- 4:55Speaker 4: something historic, could have been something he'll never forget. No idea,
- 4:59Speaker 4: what is his career is going to be? Yes, they
- 5:01Speaker 4: want to win in the playoffs, if they make the playoffs,
- 5:05Speaker 4: all that stuff, I get it, But as a high
- 5:07Speaker 4: school coach, I go through the pitch count issue. I
- 5:10Speaker 4: don't want to run my players to an extreme pitch
- 5:13Speaker 4: count because I see their ability diminishing. They get tired.
- 5:18Speaker 4: But those are kids. Let's go back four starts ago.
- 5:22Speaker 4: He rehabbed in Durham one time. If you're not afraid
- 5:27Speaker 4: of him going longer, maybe he should have had a
- 5:30Speaker 4: few more starts. He had one rehab assignment and then
- 5:33Speaker 4: they threw him into the big leagues. So essentially the
- 5:36Speaker 4: organization said, well, we'd rather have him throw sixty eight
- 5:39Speaker 4: pitches against the Rangers than use somebody else in our staff.
- 5:44Speaker 4: Then he went eighty six, and then today or yesterday
- 5:48Speaker 4: they said it was going to be ninety plus a
- 5:50Speaker 4: hitter is what we had scripted, which I understand, like
- 5:53Speaker 4: you got to think ahead, but why is it ninety
- 5:56Speaker 4: What kind of ninety pitches? They had three balls that
- 6:01Speaker 4: were considered hard hit, two ground balls which people will
- 6:05Speaker 4: be very surprised at a hard hit ground balls just
- 6:08Speaker 4: look like regular ground balls, and one fly ball that
- 6:12Speaker 4: was caught. Those are the only hard hit balls he
- 6:14Speaker 4: had two three ball counts. In my opinion, you throw
- 6:19Speaker 4: him back out there. You watch, you see what he
- 6:22Speaker 4: looks like from pitch one of the eighth inning. You
- 6:26Speaker 4: can tell. If you can't tell what you look like
- 6:28Speaker 4: when your pitcher's tired, then what kind of eyes are
- 6:33Speaker 4: you using? Like you're not trying to hurt the guy,
- 6:35Speaker 4: but you're giving guys an opportunity to do somebody he
- 6:37Speaker 4: may never be able to do again.
- 6:41Speaker 2: And the what if part, So, let's say he does
- 6:44Speaker 2: the eighth inning like AJ was talking about, and he's
- 6:46Speaker 2: at one oh seven, Well, then the organization's freaking out right,
- 6:51Speaker 2: because then it takes some seven pitches to get the.
- 6:53Speaker 1: First out in the ninth.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Now he's at one fourteen, you're gonna pull him at
- 6:56Speaker 2: one fourteen when he's two outs away.
- 6:59Speaker 3: That's why he said the easier decision after the seventh
- 7:02Speaker 3: than it would have been if he would have gone
- 7:03Speaker 3: back out for the eight, because if he gets through
- 7:05Speaker 3: the eighth, they have to let him go for the
- 7:09Speaker 3: You have to, I'm sorry. That's why they're like, oh,
- 7:11Speaker 3: we get him out of seven, then oh we can say, oh,
- 7:13Speaker 3: he had two more innings. He had to cover thirty
- 7:15Speaker 3: maybe thirty more pitches, but by taking him out on
- 7:17Speaker 3: the seventh, they're like, well, well never know, will we.
- 7:21Speaker 4: How many people have ever gotten hurt from throwing too
- 7:23Speaker 4: many pitches. Everyone's gonna go Johan and Santana. He blew
- 7:27Speaker 4: out after his one hundred and forty two pitch No
- 7:30Speaker 4: Hark prior Mark Pryor because he threw you know which
- 7:34Speaker 4: game it was that he threw too many.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Pitches, all of them.
- 7:39Speaker 4: So that's what I'm saying, Nolan Ryan, And I'll argue
- 7:41Speaker 4: Nolan Ryan.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Nolan Ryan through like three hundred pitches a game, it
- 7:44Speaker 3: was fine.
- 7:45Speaker 1: So they don't make him uld water these guys.
- 7:48Speaker 2: These guys can't stay on the field, not all of them,
- 7:50Speaker 2: but too many of them can't stand.
- 7:52Speaker 3: They don't throw enough.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I agree, don't get.
- 7:55Speaker 3: That's the biggest thing.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I'm with you, same page.
- 7:58Speaker 2: But the problem is it's not getting fixed, Like it
- 8:00Speaker 2: can't get fixed on the fly. So right now, the
- 8:02Speaker 2: way it is, the front office is going percentage chance
- 8:05Speaker 2: that this player gets hurt at this many pitches. This
- 8:08Speaker 2: is the trajectory that the computer says that he should
- 8:10Speaker 2: be pitching right now. It's just the way that the
- 8:11Speaker 2: format is in. The Marlins are more like that than
- 8:13Speaker 2: maybe any other team in baseball. The Marlins are a
- 8:16Speaker 2: walking formula right now and it's working for them. And
- 8:19Speaker 2: Uri Prez can't stay on the field. I'm not saying
- 8:21Speaker 2: if it's me, I'm in screw it mode and I'm
- 8:24Speaker 2: just putting them out there because I'm like you guys,
- 8:26Speaker 2: at one time, I think he'll live. But I'm just
- 8:28Speaker 2: telling you the perspective from the front office. They don't
- 8:31Speaker 2: care about our entertainment. They only care about winning games
- 8:34Speaker 2: and their philosophy of winning games, which is percentage chance
- 8:38Speaker 2: of this happening, and not to mention Kratz, percentage chance
- 8:40Speaker 2: of them winning the game.
- 8:41Speaker 1: They don't care. They're like, we're up big. They almost
- 8:43Speaker 1: lost it, but they're like, percentage chance we're winning this game.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Pull them now.
- 8:46Speaker 2: He's already been injured plenty in life. We don't want
- 8:49Speaker 2: to deal with this.
- 8:50Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, don't. I don't want to be on
- 8:52Speaker 4: that side. Or Aj and I both agree, we're looking
- 8:56Speaker 4: to win the game one hundred percent. When you're winning
- 8:59Speaker 4: nine to not, there's never I am never making a
- 9:01Speaker 4: decision for my team. Well, you know what, we're gonna
- 9:05Speaker 4: throw this guy out there just because that's gonna be
- 9:07Speaker 4: something cool. We could lose, but not a chance that
- 9:10Speaker 4: is not ever in my decision. Your career is so short.
- 9:16Speaker 4: It's your job to stay on the field, but you
- 9:19Speaker 4: also have an opportunity to come up and taking that bat,
- 9:24Speaker 4: throw a pitch in the game, to do something historic
- 9:27Speaker 4: that could possibly never be done again and may never
- 9:30Speaker 4: get another chance. In my opinion, don't get in the
- 9:33Speaker 4: way of that. And this is where I think people
- 9:35Speaker 4: who are making these decisions, I'm not talking about Clayton McCullough.
- 9:38Speaker 4: I'm talking about people who are making these decisions have
- 9:41Speaker 4: never strapped on the cleats and been in a spot
- 9:45Speaker 4: to do something historic. Look in summertime, it's cool in
- 9:51Speaker 4: the morning, hot during the day, cool again at night.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Rarely am I sitting there going, oh, I'm just gonna
- 9:57Speaker 4: do one thing at a time. I'm bouncing from work,
- 10:00Speaker 4: I'm bouncing in the yard, I'm running to a game.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Fabletics has got me with price, comfort and versatility with
- 10:09Speaker 4: all the gear that I'm getting from them.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yeah, we're talking about premium activewear you'd expect from higher
- 10:14Speaker 2: end brands, but without the price tag. Lightweight, breatheable, comfortable,
- 10:18Speaker 2: built to actually last. And if you're going to Fabletics,
- 10:23Speaker 2: you should be joining as a VIP, which completely changes

- 10:38Speaker 2: prompted to unlock this offer. This is a limited time offer,
- 10:41Speaker 2: so don't wait again. That's fabletics dot com slash foul
- 10:45Speaker 2: for seventy to eighty percent off everything as a new VIP.
- 10:49Speaker 1: We're all on the same page.
- 10:51Speaker 2: I'm just telling you I understand where the other side
- 10:54Speaker 2: is coming from because I know what the front office does.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I know how the front office thinks. They don't care.
- 11:00Speaker 2: They're just like chances we're winning this game. Chances this
- 11:03Speaker 2: pitcher gets hurt if we go one hundred and twenty
- 11:06Speaker 2: five pitches with him. That's what What are the chances playing?
- 11:09Speaker 4: What are the chances? We see all these models, we
- 11:11Speaker 4: see the FIP weighted way Whip, whatever it is. There's
- 11:15Speaker 4: so many models. What is the show me? The model
- 11:18Speaker 4: that says when Uri Perez on his fourth start, after
- 11:22Speaker 4: the il throws one hundred and eleven pitches, that his
- 11:27Speaker 4: chances of getting hurt are exponential in that start. Now,
- 11:32Speaker 4: I would argue with you, maybe the next start he
- 11:34Speaker 4: needs to throw seventy pitches, because then you can even
- 11:37Speaker 4: it out. Now it's like ninety ninety. He has a
- 11:40Speaker 4: better chance of getting hurt when his body's broken down
- 11:43Speaker 4: after a tough start, just like the same reason you
- 11:46Speaker 4: wouldn't throw somebody at one hundred pitches and then go say, hey,
- 11:50Speaker 4: you know what I want you to do tomorrow. I
- 11:51Speaker 4: want you to play shortstop. Like that's where your chance
- 11:54Speaker 4: of getting hurt is in this game. He's good, he's
- 11:58Speaker 4: good to go. He wasn't even taxed yet.
- 12:01Speaker 2: That's my thing, AJ why I mean, maybe this is done.
- 12:04Speaker 2: You know where some organizations are tracking stressful pitches like
- 12:07Speaker 2: this was such a non stressful outing. There were I
- 12:10Speaker 2: believe three baseballs hit over ninety five miles an hour
- 12:13Speaker 2: exit velocity off Yurie Prize.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Two of them were ground balls like that. You know
- 12:17Speaker 1: how some perfect games.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Are like oh that was smoked, great catch out there,
- 12:21Speaker 2: Like there, this was easy, breezy, having no problem with
- 12:25Speaker 2: an a's team that is slumping right now, and that
- 12:28Speaker 2: to me should hold account here.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Also, I agree with Krats. Skip him if he does
- 12:34Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty pitches, he does a perfect game,
- 12:36Speaker 3: you can skip him his next start. You know what
- 12:37Speaker 3: you have coming up the All Star break too.
- 12:40Speaker 6: You can give him all. You can give two weeks
- 12:41Speaker 6: off if you have to. You can see he pitched
- 12:44Speaker 6: on Sunday, right, so have him skipped. I'm sure there's
- 12:47Speaker 6: an off day in there, and then you give him
- 12:49Speaker 6: the four days for the All Star break. He gets
- 12:51Speaker 6: two weeks off, he pitches the first game back. Like,
- 12:53Speaker 6: I don't, I don't. I don't get it. I don't
- 12:55Speaker 6: understand it. I'm not Clayton McCall. If I'm not in
- 12:58Speaker 6: that locker room, I'm not Peter Bendix. I'll never I
- 13:01Speaker 6: don't see what they're seeing. But I mean again, this
- 13:04Speaker 6: was a chance for a kid to do something that
- 13:05Speaker 6: could be a historic people will never get again. I'd
- 13:09Speaker 6: go back to Phil Home or the guy I know
- 13:10Speaker 6: that threw a perfect game. And heck, you could even
- 13:13Speaker 6: use Dallas Braiden if you want to use Dallas Braiden.
- 13:17Speaker 3: They're remember for one thing in baseball, They threw a
- 13:19Speaker 3: perfect game in a big league game. There's only been
- 13:22Speaker 3: I think twenty two of them or something like that
- 13:24Speaker 3: in the history of the game. Maybe I don't know,
- 13:26Speaker 3: somewhere around that number in the low twenties. This is
- 13:29Speaker 3: an historic opportunity to do some very special that you'll
- 13:32Speaker 3: always be remembered for. I just feel like you got
- 13:35Speaker 3: to give the guy a shot.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Yeah, there's been twenty four perfect games ever. Twenty four
- 13:41Speaker 2: perfect games ever in the last one, like you guys
- 13:43Speaker 2: mentioned was Demngo Harman June twenty eighth of twenty twenty three.
- 13:47Speaker 2: It's not always the most notable name, and this could
- 13:49Speaker 2: be the same case here. Urie Perez came up as
- 13:51Speaker 2: a super prospect. He's a huge guy, he's a presence,
- 13:54Speaker 2: he's got good stuff. But he hasn't stayed on the
- 13:56Speaker 2: field consistently and he hasn't even put up many consistent
- 13:59Speaker 2: results when he's been to do that.
- 14:00Speaker 1: He's still young.
- 14:01Speaker 2: It's fine, but this could have been the highlight of
- 14:03Speaker 2: his career and that gets robbed. It's just step for
- 14:06Speaker 2: front offices. They don't care about a milestone like that.
- 14:09Speaker 2: They don't care about the entertainment factor. They don't care
- 14:12Speaker 2: about fans yelling shame at Clayton McCullough. They care that
- 14:16Speaker 2: in their mind, they keep him in. They get in
- 14:19Speaker 2: their disaster scenario if he's had one hundred and twenty
- 14:21Speaker 2: six pitches and he's trying to get that last out
- 14:23Speaker 2: and that's all, and then he gets hurt and then
- 14:26Speaker 2: they feel like they get blamed for it.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Last part of this.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Do you feel like if he does pull off this
- 14:32Speaker 2: perfecto and he had to do one hundred and twenty
- 14:35Speaker 2: nine pitches, let's just say, right, let's say he had
- 14:37Speaker 2: the labor a bit in some longer AB's and then
- 14:40Speaker 2: he gets hurt.
- 14:41Speaker 1: Do the Marlins get crushed?
- 14:43Speaker 3: No? They know no, you know how they would have
- 14:46Speaker 3: really got crushed if they would have lost, which they
- 14:48Speaker 3: almost did by the way, they almost lost it. They
- 14:50Speaker 3: had a chance to lose this game. But if they
- 14:52Speaker 3: would have lost this game, can you imagine how bad
- 14:54Speaker 3: they would have got crushed. So if he gets hurt,
- 14:57Speaker 3: you can't I agree with Boo Kraut said, you can't
- 15:00Speaker 3: look at it and say, oh, is that one star
- 15:02Speaker 3: he's been a guy who hasn't been on the field.
- 15:03Speaker 3: That'd be like, we just talked about Tristan Cassis in
- 15:05Speaker 3: the in the break right, he's always hurt. So is
- 15:09Speaker 3: there one thing you can look back and say, Man,
- 15:10Speaker 3: Tristan cass is hurt because he took too many swings
- 15:13Speaker 3: while he was on the aisle. Again, you never know,
- 15:15Speaker 3: You just you never know. And if you constantly play
- 15:18Speaker 3: to not get guys hurt, and as a player, if
- 15:20Speaker 3: you play not to get hurt, that's when you get hurt.
- 15:23Speaker 4: He wasn't going to get to one hundred and twenty
- 15:25Speaker 4: six pitches. It's not a perfect game anymore. If he
- 15:27Speaker 4: gets to one hundred and twenty six pitches, like a
- 15:30Speaker 4: perfect game means it's really efficient. It's one, two, three,
- 15:34Speaker 4: you know, ground ball here, something there. Like, it's just
- 15:38Speaker 4: not happening. You're not going deep into counts. So I
- 15:40Speaker 4: don't see his pitch count rising through that moment.
- 15:44Speaker 2: If he walked the guy, would you still go like,
- 15:46Speaker 2: now you have ninth inning, you take him out, ninth inning,
- 15:50Speaker 2: one out, walk, you take him out, You.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Let him finish the hitter, try to no, no, no, no,
- 15:54Speaker 3: it's a hit. Yeah, as soon as a hit, a walk,
- 15:57Speaker 3: you let him stay a hit, you take him out, right,
- 15:59Speaker 3: But you also have a different mentality, like, look, we
- 16:04Speaker 3: have a nineer lead, attack the zone. It's if it's
- 16:07Speaker 3: a one run game, you're like, you know, we still
- 16:10Speaker 3: gotta work the edges. Those are those are higher stress pitches.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Then you know what we're gonna do.
- 16:15Speaker 4: We're going right after these guys. We're going right at them.
- 16:19Speaker 4: We are. It's not like he's trying for a no
- 16:21Speaker 4: hitter and he's like walks two or three guys in
- 16:24Speaker 4: the seventh, eighth, and ninth inning because he's like, I
- 16:26Speaker 4: am not giving up a hit. That's a different mentality.
- 16:29Speaker 4: You're talking about a nine run lead, attack the zone.
- 16:33Speaker 4: Get this thing done.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Nice good chat and from Irelands fans, you might be pissed,
- 16:40Speaker 2: but team's bawling right now. They're not even just in
- 16:43Speaker 2: a wild card spot. They're going for a little division action.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I know there's a lot of season left to go,
- 16:47Speaker 2: but hopefully they're buyers at the trade deadline. I'm just
- 16:50Speaker 2: saying they were double digit games back not too long ago,
- 16:53Speaker 2: and now I think they're three or four games back
- 16:55Speaker 2: of the first place Atlanta Braves. Hey, tough news again
- 17:00Speaker 2: and for Brandon woodrift. So this is Kurt Hoag, who
- 17:02Speaker 2: hosts Our Brewer Territory show. He said Pat Murphy confirmed
- 17:05Speaker 2: the return of assist near which I labor him in
- 17:08Speaker 2: his shoulder, causing the dead arm feeling that was previously
- 17:10Speaker 2: mentioned as a possibility by doctor Keith Meister, and Murphy
- 17:14Speaker 2: said it wasn't totally a surprise.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Not a surprise.
- 17:16Speaker 2: I mean the alternate thing is he can have another surgery.
- 17:18Speaker 2: So you know, AJ, when he's pitched, he's been really good.
- 17:21Speaker 2: It's just tough to keep big Wu out there.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Right now.
- 17:24Speaker 2: He's dealing with some things that I don't want to
- 17:26Speaker 2: call it chronic, but clearly there's things that keep popping
- 17:28Speaker 2: up here, whatever you want to call it.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Yeah, this sucks. I mean he just came back. He's
- 17:34Speaker 3: missed so much time, and then everyone thought, oh he's
- 17:36Speaker 3: back and figured it out and then boom, it pops
- 17:38Speaker 3: up again. It's it sucks for Brandon Woodrift and the Brewers. Uh,
- 17:44Speaker 3: just get better, get healthy and get back and you know,
- 17:46Speaker 3: if it's not this year, then hopefully again. But this sucks.
- 17:50Speaker 3: It sucks always talking about this, especially with certain people
- 17:52Speaker 3: or certain things just keep popping up. This just sucks.
- 17:55Speaker 4: AJ and I talk about all the time. Whenever there's
- 17:57Speaker 4: a shoulder injury, You're like, now what you want to hear?
- 18:00Speaker 4: Shoulder is way more complex than the elbow and assist reoccurring.
- 18:05Speaker 4: You know, it's just a constant movement and you never
- 18:08Speaker 4: know exactly which way the shoulder's supposed to move, and
- 18:11Speaker 4: so when it starts getting stuff going on in there.
- 18:14Speaker 4: This is the kind of stuff that happens where things
- 18:17Speaker 4: just keep popping up. Unfortunately for Big Wu, it's gonna
- 18:20Speaker 4: be a little bit more time off.
- 18:22Speaker 2: And with the way the Burgs are playing, you're like,
- 18:24Speaker 2: this team's gonna make the playoffs? Will they have enough
- 18:26Speaker 2: firepower to finally get over the hump and you know,
- 18:29Speaker 2: beat some big dragons in the National League, like the Dodgers,
- 18:32Speaker 2: maybe the Braves. So it would help to have Big
- 18:35Speaker 2: Wu part of that big three in the rotation?
- 18:39Speaker 3: Is that always the question with the Burgs?
- 18:42Speaker 4: Yep, pretty probam.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Hey, little Tristan Costas updates shut down from hitting wrist
- 18:52Speaker 2: issue popped up. This was Chad Tracy, the Red Sox manager,
- 18:56Speaker 2: telling Tim Healy from rehabing, and this is Tyler Milliken
- 18:59Speaker 2: with the tweet from rehabing the knee to an intercostal
- 19:01Speaker 2: strain and now the risk it just never ends.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And A it.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Sucks for the player. But also I will remind fans
- 19:11Speaker 2: that sometimes I betrayed, opportunity arises for a young player
- 19:15Speaker 2: and you're able to get somebody that's going to put
- 19:16Speaker 2: you over the top.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Don't prospect, Hug. It wasn't even totally the case.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I'm just mentioning this because I just remember Todd Father
- 19:22Speaker 2: getting absolutely roasted to pieces one time for bringing up
- 19:26Speaker 2: Tristan Costas in the trade and they were like, he's
- 19:28Speaker 2: the next superstar in the league.
- 19:29Speaker 1: I'm like, relax, everyone.
- 19:33Speaker 3: Well two things. One, yes, you shouldn't prospect, Hug. Ask
- 19:36Speaker 3: the Orioles how some of their prospects have worked out.
- 19:39Speaker 3: And two, Christin Cossa has also offered an extension and
- 19:43Speaker 3: didn't take it, And there was a lucrative extension he
- 19:46Speaker 3: didn't take it, and now he hasn't played in that
- 19:48Speaker 3: I mean Tristan coss Is. We've talked about this on
- 19:51Speaker 3: the show before, like he's not even relevant to me
- 19:53Speaker 3: anymore until he can get on the field. He hasn't
- 19:55Speaker 3: played for like two years now, so it sucks for him.
- 19:58Speaker 3: It sucks for the Red Sox. But you know, this
- 20:01Speaker 3: is why Eric and I always say, and if you
- 20:03Speaker 3: get an opportunity to take your first contract, you should
- 20:05Speaker 3: take it because you never know what can happen.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Doesn't mean his career is over. It just means that
- 20:10Speaker 4: he has to grind back in a different way that
- 20:15Speaker 4: you know he's had to so far. And hopefully all
- 20:18Speaker 4: these things that keep popping up, he can figure out
- 20:21Speaker 4: the root cause of them. And you know it can
- 20:24Speaker 4: it can get better. But prospect hugging. I love that,
- 20:27Speaker 4: I love that. I love that vernacular. We should use
- 20:29Speaker 4: that all.
- 20:33Speaker 1: All right, seek let's see what the week has for us.
- 20:36Speaker 2: We are one week away from a break, So enjoy
- 20:38Speaker 2: some regular season baseball until we get to Derby All Star,
- 20:41Speaker 2: the whole deal. And know that you can go to
- 20:43Speaker 2: see Geek of course to find tickets for the Midsummer
- 20:45Speaker 2: Classic and any of the series coming up this week.
- 20:48Speaker 2: This is what we like to do here. So Yankees
- 20:49Speaker 2: Raised is huge. Of course, we might get to the
- 20:51Speaker 2: Yankees a little bit later on. Aj Since you've been gone,
- 20:54Speaker 2: the Yankees have barely won. They have looked terrible, and
- 20:57Speaker 2: the race have barely lost.
- 21:00Speaker 3: They needed me to come back so they could try
- 21:01Speaker 3: to win a game.
- 21:02Speaker 4: It was bad.
- 21:03Speaker 3: And Junior Cameranaro it's a home run every game. I'm like, oh,
- 21:07Speaker 3: Junior Caminara, home run. Junior Caminara, home run, Junior Canuro.
- 21:10Speaker 3: It's like a bro Yankees lose, Rais win, Junior Caminaro,
- 21:13Speaker 3: it's a home run. So yeah, it's been crazy. The
- 21:15Speaker 3: Rays have opened up a little bit of a lead.
- 21:18Speaker 3: They had a little bit of a lead on them
- 21:19Speaker 3: before though, So the Yankees came back but didn't seem
- 21:22Speaker 3: like they're going away. I'll tell you what those got
- 21:24Speaker 3: the game. There's one matchup you didn't talk about. Its
- 21:26Speaker 3: Brewers and the Cardinals. That's the one other than the
- 21:28Speaker 3: Yankees and the Rays I'd like to go take a
- 21:30Speaker 3: look at because the Cardinals are better than expected. The
- 21:33Speaker 3: Brewers are doing what the Brewers have done for years.
- 21:35Speaker 3: But this is a chance for the Cardinals maybe to
- 21:37Speaker 3: make a statement before they all start breaking.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I'd see some Cardinals scores over the weekend with the
- 21:42Speaker 2: Cubs that they're putting up numbers on offense.
- 21:47Speaker 4: They were giving up some too. The Cubs the other
- 21:49Speaker 4: the other day had twenty three I think, and then
- 21:52Speaker 4: they scored seventeen. Yeah, there's I like this series. I
- 21:57Speaker 4: think it's really kind of another test series for this
- 22:00Speaker 4: younger Saint Louis team. See how they match it up
- 22:03Speaker 4: against the perennial division winners and the Brewers.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yeah, what was it, twenty three to three on seventeen
- 22:13Speaker 2: to one. Yeah, but twenty three to three was the
- 22:16Speaker 2: That was not Cubs Cardinals, that was Cubs.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I don't remember who they were playing.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Padres, Yes, Padres, good, good call. But then yeah, it
- 22:25Speaker 2: was seventeen to one the.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Padres.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Yeah, they had lost but eight eight in a row,
- 22:30Speaker 2: and then they snapped that on the Sunday win. And
- 22:33Speaker 2: they had the three nothing advantage on the Otani game
- 22:36Speaker 2: with Michael King out pitching him. And then Tascar Hernandez
- 22:39Speaker 2: hit the Grand Slam the other night. So they've had
- 22:41Speaker 2: some tough close losses late too. Anyway, this is a great.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Time of year.
- 22:46Speaker 2: If you want to go catch a game, this is
- 22:48Speaker 2: the spot for you. Thanks to Sea Keek for always
- 22:50Speaker 2: hooking us up with these game previews. Here ten percent
- 22:52Speaker 2: off MLB tickets. Homo code is Territory ten. Click the
- 22:55Speaker 2: link in the description to download the app. If you
- 22:58Speaker 2: don't have it already, and then the code automatic he
- 23:00Speaker 2: gets added to your accounts so you can use it later.
- 23:01Speaker 2: I just used that code actually yesterday to grab some seats,
- 23:04Speaker 2: So go for it, ft FAM And coming up next,
- 23:06Speaker 2: we're going to talk about the All Star Game, who
- 23:08Speaker 2: made it, who did not? All Star rosters have arrived.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Complain first, then hype later. You guys want to complain
- 23:20Speaker 2: a little bit about who didn't make it. And I
- 23:22Speaker 2: know that things might change by the time we're done
- 23:24Speaker 2: with this, but there are quite a few names that
- 23:26Speaker 2: we can list. Pitchers get replaced pretty frequently, but aj
- 23:30Speaker 2: position players often don't. So if we bring up a
- 23:32Speaker 2: name like Bryce Terrang and how well he's played for
- 23:35Speaker 2: the Brewers, or your guy Colson Montgomery with the White
- 23:38Speaker 2: Sox who's playing shortstop, premium position and putting up as
- 23:41Speaker 2: many homewards as almost anybody in baseball.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Who else? There's a ton of names that we can
- 23:44Speaker 1: mention here.
- 23:46Speaker 3: The one that stands out to me. I just did
- 23:47Speaker 3: the Braves this weekend, I July fourth game the Mets.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Michael Harris. He's sitting three hundred. I know, average doesn't matter,
- 23:53Speaker 3: he's got eight almost forty ops. I think he's got
- 23:56Speaker 3: over an a forty ops. He plays a delightful center field.
- 24:01Speaker 3: If you watch him, he can steal your base. I
- 24:04Speaker 3: don't know how Michael Harris didn't make this team. Honestly,
- 24:06Speaker 3: that was the one that I was like, whoa when
- 24:09Speaker 3: I saw the reserves and then Sonny Gray. I mean
- 24:12Speaker 3: pitcher to me is Sonny Gray's ten to one but
- 24:16Speaker 3: dealing for the last place team? I think feelid was
- 24:18Speaker 3: he ten to one? Two and a half? E ra
- 24:20Speaker 3: around there? So, I mean those are the two that
- 24:23Speaker 3: off the top of my head, I was like, how
- 24:24Speaker 3: did these two guys not make it?
- 24:27Speaker 4: Yeah? I mean Michael Harris, that's a tough one. Maybe
- 24:30Speaker 4: maybe Braves fans should vote for Braves players more. Oh
- 24:33Speaker 4: wait they did, so why they missed Michael Harris? What?
- 24:37Speaker 4: I I agree with you? I mean, it's a tough
- 24:39Speaker 4: tough outfield to crack the starting lineup. I mean Juan Soto,
- 24:44Speaker 4: Brandon marsh has done. He was leading the league and
- 24:46Speaker 4: hitting for a bit. To me, it really is what
- 24:49Speaker 4: Scott said. Bryce terrang Bryce terrang Ozzy Alby's. See Bravece
- 24:54Speaker 4: fans voted for Ozzy Alby's, but they didn't vote for
- 24:56Speaker 4: Michael Harris, but you know Ozzy Alby's is he's there,
- 25:02Speaker 4: you know, kateel Marte, you're thinking, is gonna be one
- 25:05Speaker 4: of the better second basements, But numbers wise, Bryce Terrang
- 25:09Speaker 4: should be in there, and I'm not saying he won't be. Obviously,
- 25:12Speaker 4: he's gonna be, you know, one of the first ones
- 25:14Speaker 4: if somebody or win, somebody in the position player corps
- 25:18Speaker 4: doesn't show up. But man, he's he's doing it. Offensively
- 25:22Speaker 4: a twenty ops I think he's like a one twenty
- 25:24Speaker 4: something OPS plus. But defensively too, he's I'm not sure
- 25:30Speaker 4: where he's out on the war in the National League,
- 25:32Speaker 4: but fans, I guess aren't enamored with War. Players aren't
- 25:36Speaker 4: enamored with War. But he's on a first place team too.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Yeah, he's third in fangrafts war for second basement, first
- 25:44Speaker 2: in WRC plus, which is usually very similar to OPS plus,
- 25:48Speaker 2: and one of the better bats at second base. Second
- 25:49Speaker 2: base was fierce, right. You mentioned Ozzie Alvies, who you
- 25:53Speaker 2: know hasn't had as good as a year. I mean, he's
- 25:55Speaker 2: been good, but not as good as a year as
- 25:56Speaker 2: Terrang and some others that I'm about to name Luisa
- 25:59Speaker 2: Rise with a select did by the players. Brandon lau
- 26:02Speaker 2: in many years would have been an All Star for
- 26:04Speaker 2: what he's done with Pittsburgh JJ.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Ding Ding Ding ding Ding look at yeah wow, for sure?
- 26:10Speaker 1: What about weather Holt?
- 26:11Speaker 2: He might win Rookie of the Year still in the
- 26:14Speaker 2: National League and he didn't make it. His defense is
- 26:16Speaker 2: rated at second base metrics wise higher than anyone else
- 26:20Speaker 2: in baseball for a second basement, and he's put up
- 26:22Speaker 2: the offensive numbers to show for it. Hey, AJ, you
- 26:25Speaker 2: missed the whole Wilson Contreras fund that we had for
- 26:28Speaker 2: a while. And I know he's going to be missing
- 26:30Speaker 2: some time soon. But he's fourth in the American League
- 26:32Speaker 2: in ops. He's been by far the best player on
- 26:34Speaker 2: the Red Sox.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Red Sox get.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Fights, actually two stats. Ejections, well, ejections, charging the mound
- 26:44Speaker 3: when he doesn't really charge the mount and apologies, so
- 26:47Speaker 3: I mean actually three stats. He leads a league in.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Maybe we would have had our an All Star brawl
- 26:53Speaker 2: if Wilson Contreres was there.
- 26:54Speaker 1: He's it's not a brawl.
- 26:57Speaker 3: It's not a brawl. When you stand there and go
- 26:59Speaker 3: what are you talking to? Out to Kate Cavally, and
- 27:01Speaker 3: then everyone gets in between you and then you're like no, no, you're.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Like, hold me back, guys, oh no, hold my soul, Like,
- 27:07Speaker 4: come on, that's not a fight.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Like when everyone's like he charged amount, He didn't charge
- 27:10Speaker 3: the mound. He charged There was thirty people between him
- 27:13Speaker 3: and Kate Kavali.
- 27:14Speaker 4: Now he did throw a helmet, which is a bulldotton.
- 27:18Speaker 3: A helmet, But didn't he hit his own guy? No,
- 27:19Speaker 3: he didn't hit he hit someone else.
- 27:22Speaker 4: He hit Chaparro. But I mean everybody throws a helmet.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Think about Bryce Harper when he threw it. You know,
- 27:27Speaker 4: you just you don't. You don't do enough helmet practice throws.
- 27:30Speaker 4: But no, it's it's not charging the mound. It's not
- 27:33Speaker 4: charging the mound it is. It's exactly like, I don't know,
- 27:36Speaker 4: if you have dogs in your neighborhood, it's exactly like
- 27:39Speaker 4: dogs barking at each other through the fence and then
- 27:41Speaker 4: the fence gets opened up. Most dogs just smell each
- 27:44Speaker 4: other's butts, So that's essentially what they're doing. They're barking
- 27:47Speaker 4: at each other. They're not charging the mount until it's
- 27:50Speaker 4: actually charging the picture picture's mound, which you got a
- 27:54Speaker 4: full ray. There ain't nobody standing in your way for
- 27:56Speaker 4: about I would say a good three seconds till anybody
- 27:59Speaker 4: comes in, and they don't. But back to the All
- 28:03Speaker 4: Star stuff. Some years, some positions are just really tough.
- 28:08Speaker 4: Some years you can be hitting two nineteen with like
- 28:12Speaker 4: twelve homers at a position and nobody else is doing
- 28:15Speaker 4: very well and people are like, okay. Like, in my opinion,
- 28:19Speaker 4: with second base, I think the players got it wrong
- 28:21Speaker 4: with Luisa Rise. I do, and that's nothing taking nothing
- 28:26Speaker 4: away from what he's doing. I think at second base
- 28:29Speaker 4: it's a it's it is a very crowded position this
- 28:34Speaker 4: season in the first half.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Hey, I've got one for you.
- 28:37Speaker 2: He's been insanely good through the course of the beginning
- 28:41Speaker 2: of his career. But he's in a pretty long rut.
- 28:44Speaker 3: At Tregolden, Kereg Baldwin.
- 28:47Speaker 1: No, No, but that is a good one. That is
- 28:48Speaker 1: a good one.
- 28:49Speaker 2: I was going Skiens, Dude, Skeins, isn't a rut he
- 28:53Speaker 2: gets in. Skeens actually was vocal about it yesterday to
- 28:57Speaker 2: the media how he feels like the highlight of the
- 28:59Speaker 2: team has been the offense and he's right, and now
- 29:01Speaker 2: it sucks that those guys didn't get in. But even look,
- 29:03Speaker 2: I mean, practicon Ashcraft has better numbers than Paul Skins.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Justin Robuski has better numbers than Paul Skins. Kyles Harrison
- 29:09Speaker 2: has better numbers than Paul Skins. And he literally got
- 29:12Speaker 2: ruined by that one Las Vegas start that knocked his
- 29:15Speaker 2: numbers a little bit off of what looks like a
- 29:18Speaker 2: young conversation.
- 29:19Speaker 3: The problem is these were voted for like weeks ago, right,
- 29:22Speaker 3: so the last few starts aren't included. And crabs would
- 29:25Speaker 3: say this too. Players don't know exactly what's going on.
- 29:27Speaker 3: And I and listen, I love Drake Baldwin as much
- 29:29Speaker 3: as the next guy, but he's I think, I just
- 29:32Speaker 3: he was like one for forty or something. Since he's
- 29:34Speaker 3: come back, he missed a month and now he's like
- 29:36Speaker 3: one for forty. Now. I know he was voted as
- 29:38Speaker 3: starter by the fans, which is fine. It's kind of
- 29:40Speaker 3: a reward for being the rookie of the year and
- 29:41Speaker 3: he was off to a great start. But you know,
- 29:44Speaker 3: that's an example of it's not necessarily recency biased. And
- 29:48Speaker 3: Paul Skeins is a big name, and you know who
- 29:52Speaker 3: once in the game, big names. They want big names,
- 29:56Speaker 3: but do you think Bright Harbor got a Legends pick?
- 29:58Speaker 3: They want big names. Hey.
- 30:02Speaker 2: For the families out there looking for a different path
- 30:04Speaker 2: to help your child succeed at home, looking to K
- 30:07Speaker 2: twelve powed schools, Todd, Father, you've done the homeschooling thing
- 30:10Speaker 2: in the past.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I know you liked it.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I did. I liked it a lot.
- 30:14Speaker 5: All my kids have done it before. It's an opportunity
- 30:17Speaker 5: for them to stay at home and enjoy school just
- 30:21Speaker 5: as much. They learn a lot, and this is an
- 30:23Speaker 5: opportunity for families that are on the go too as well.
- 30:26Speaker 5: They have to understand, listen, can't be at a regular
- 30:29Speaker 5: school at all times. I need my child to be
- 30:31Speaker 5: doing this, whether it's an athletic career, whatever stature they
- 30:34Speaker 5: are at. And we loved every second of it, and
- 30:37Speaker 5: I think it is an easy opportunity for some children.

- 31:01Speaker 2: foul question for you guys. Then when it comes to names,
- 31:04Speaker 2: I mean, Michael Waker has been in the league for
- 31:05Speaker 2: a while.
- 31:06Speaker 1: He was actually an MLB pick. He was a league pick.
- 31:10Speaker 2: We mentioned how Sonny Gray and gets selected, and Gray
- 31:12Speaker 2: will probably get in when you know a pitcher bows
- 31:15Speaker 2: out or doesn't hit the schedule the right way. Davis Martin,
- 31:18Speaker 2: I think also probably should have the edge over Waka.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I mean we like Waka good, dude good. And is
- 31:23Speaker 2: he deserved All Star? Yes, but not above the two
- 31:27Speaker 2: that I just mentioned when I was matching up numbers.
- 31:29Speaker 3: How does the first place team only have one one
- 31:31Speaker 3: All Star? The White Sucks they have one star. They
- 31:35Speaker 3: have one All Star, Miguel Vargers. There's about three or
- 31:37Speaker 3: four guys you can make an argument should be on
- 31:39Speaker 3: that team. Murakami doesn't get hurt. He's on the team, right, Davis.
- 31:43Speaker 4: There's other players, there's other players that are hurt that
- 31:45Speaker 4: are on the team. Why why wouldn't they look at
- 31:48Speaker 4: what Murakami's done. I think he's still like seventh or
- 31:52Speaker 4: eighth in home in home runs in the league. Like, yeah,
- 31:56Speaker 4: I anyway, I think there is There's always going to
- 32:00Speaker 4: be snubs. That's the reality of the All Star Game,
- 32:03Speaker 4: and there's going to be a lot of guys that
- 32:05Speaker 4: can say they're All Stars this year. It doesn't dumb
- 32:08Speaker 4: down the All Star Game. But you do question sometimes
- 32:11Speaker 4: where did the motivation for players votes come from? And
- 32:17Speaker 4: where did the MLB votes come from? And then I
- 32:21Speaker 4: mean the most intriguing we already hit a little with
- 32:23Speaker 4: Bob is the is the Bryce Harper get out of
- 32:26Speaker 4: my locker room? And then Rob's like Rob Manford's like,
- 32:31Speaker 4: why don't you just stay in your locker room that
- 32:33Speaker 4: I'm not allowed in.
- 32:36Speaker 2: The commissioner's selection Bryce Harper. Usually, I feel like that
- 32:39Speaker 2: goes to someone who's all of his career yes, and
- 32:44Speaker 2: you're like, hey, we're going to give him like a
- 32:45Speaker 2: tip of the cap. But I guess for Bryce, it's like,
- 32:49Speaker 2: you're not going to have Bryce Harper at the All
- 32:50Speaker 2: Star Game. And also I do think that they want
- 32:53Speaker 2: in the derby. They want him in the derby, and
- 32:55Speaker 2: if he's not, you know how a lot of the
- 32:57Speaker 2: players say, if I'm not an All Star, I'm not
- 32:58Speaker 2: doing anything with the dirt so that's probably, but not
- 33:02Speaker 2: that Bryce necessarily stated that to the league. But you
- 33:05Speaker 2: just know, right kjf Brice didn't make it. Is he
- 33:08Speaker 2: going to participate in the derby?
- 33:09Speaker 3: No way, no, no chance. Bryce has too much respect
- 33:12Speaker 3: for the guys that are there. It's one thing you say,
- 33:15Speaker 3: lover hate Bryce Harper. He respects the heck out of
- 33:17Speaker 3: the game and he respects the heck out of people
- 33:20Speaker 3: that have earned things. And if he wasn't selected in
- 33:21Speaker 3: All Star, there's no way he would have played in
- 33:23Speaker 3: the derby. And Schwarberz already said he's not doing it
- 33:25Speaker 3: because he doesn't think he's going to do it because
- 33:27Speaker 3: he's back doesn't feel great. So they needed somebody from
- 33:29Speaker 3: Philadelphia and it wasn't gonna be Brandon Marsh. So how
- 33:32Speaker 3: did you get Bryce Harber to do it? You give
- 33:33Speaker 3: him the legends.
- 33:34Speaker 4: Pick John Middleton. When he sent his revenue share check
- 33:38Speaker 4: into Rob Manfred that he has to pay every month,
- 33:40Speaker 4: he also slid in a note that you better make
- 33:43Speaker 4: sure Bryce Harper is there because this man has been
- 33:46Speaker 4: talking about for the last two and a half years
- 33:49Speaker 4: about doing the home run Derby when it's in Philly,
- 33:51Speaker 4: So make sure you know who my pick is for
- 33:54Speaker 4: the Legends pick for this year.
- 33:57Speaker 2: There you go, Yes, handpicked by the command Sin still
- 34:00Speaker 2: working on who is VP or his Derby pitcher is gone.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I'm here, try it, Rat's tell him, tell him get
- 34:09Speaker 2: the message.
- 34:09Speaker 4: I already said it. I already hit it in I
- 34:12Speaker 4: already hit it in the in the chat, I already
- 34:14Speaker 4: hit it on Twitter. I even hit up there hitting coach.
- 34:18Speaker 4: I mean, my VP is money and I'm right down
- 34:20Speaker 4: the road only to take it to Uber forty five minute,
- 34:22Speaker 4: Uber super super cheap.
- 34:24Speaker 2: And you can practice with him a couple of times
- 34:26Speaker 2: beforehand too, if he wants right.
- 34:28Speaker 4: I think it's I think it's a fun I think
- 34:30Speaker 4: it's a fun shot at his dad. I feel like
- 34:34Speaker 4: his dad is going to be the guy. I mean,
- 34:36Speaker 4: his dad threw him before. And Bryce, if you're listening,
- 34:40Speaker 4: I even throw a little cut because I know the
- 34:42Speaker 4: other year your dad kept throwing cutters and you just
- 34:44Speaker 4: kept hitting dingers in in Washington, Dinger, Dinger. It doesn't
- 34:48Speaker 4: even matter. You don't even need to practice. He's only
- 34:50Speaker 4: gonna swing at twenty pitches, so let's just get it going.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I'm all for it. Last one for me.
- 34:57Speaker 2: I know, some people were pointing out Luke Weaver, who's
- 34:59Speaker 2: been one of the best non closers. Here's the problem.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Only a few relievers get in. They're gonna be closers,
- 35:04Speaker 2: closers pitching bigger moments. I mean, we can make that
- 35:06Speaker 2: case all day. But Weaver's been awesome. He's got a
- 35:08Speaker 2: two double oera. But for example, even if you know
- 35:11Speaker 2: one of the relievers goes down or doesn't want to pitch,
- 35:14Speaker 2: Riley O'Brien closing for the Cardinals, like he's going to
- 35:17Speaker 2: get in over someone like Luke Weaver. It's just usually
- 35:20Speaker 2: how it goes is they're going to select guys that
- 35:22Speaker 2: are pitching in the ninth inning.
- 35:23Speaker 1: No you don't agree with that, I don't agree.
- 35:26Speaker 4: I don't. I think it should be the best guys.
- 35:27Speaker 4: I think, and I think before that's the one thing.
- 35:30Speaker 4: That's the one thing that I think the you have
- 35:34Speaker 4: to win the get or the winning the game matters
- 35:37Speaker 4: helped guys get in, like like Josh Harrison, like A
- 35:43Speaker 4: I think like Adam Frazier got anyone because they were like,
- 35:46Speaker 4: I don't want to get stuck. So I need a
- 35:48Speaker 4: more versatile type of person in my in my my
- 35:54Speaker 4: position player corps, and so I think if the manager
- 35:58Speaker 4: of the team needed to win the I think they
- 36:00Speaker 4: would say, Okay, who do I think is better? Do
- 36:03Speaker 4: I think O'Brien from the Cardinals is better? Well, he's
- 36:05Speaker 4: just been closing a lot of games, not a big
- 36:07Speaker 4: you know, strikeout guy. Or is Luke Weaver better? Or
- 36:11Speaker 4: is one of the other long not long relievers? Is
- 36:14Speaker 4: Aaron Ashby? Does that change my change my dynamic, my
- 36:18Speaker 4: look in the bullpen if I need it, because I
- 36:21Speaker 4: do want to win this game?
- 36:22Speaker 1: Okay?
- 36:24Speaker 2: And yes, it's not like they never get in. I
- 36:26Speaker 2: know what Jason Adam made it last year and Randy
- 36:28Speaker 2: Rodriguez did. They both make it last year, But often
- 36:32Speaker 2: the closers get selected. My point is I'm not just
- 36:35Speaker 2: going on era for a reliever. I just think guy
- 36:37Speaker 2: pitching in the ninth inning often gets a little more juice, right,
- 36:41Speaker 2: He's pitching in a tougher role than someone who's pitching
- 36:44Speaker 2: in the seventh year.
- 36:45Speaker 4: The people know there, that's it.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Raldis Chapman famous for punch outs, and also you don't
- 36:51Speaker 2: want to mess with him, no butts sniffing around him.
- 36:54Speaker 1: He picked up the.
- 36:55Speaker 2: Reliever strikeout record one thousand and three sixty four got
- 37:00Speaker 2: him over the mark.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Been pitching for a long time.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Yeah, hey, I watched him in that game where he
- 37:09Speaker 4: blew the lead. He blew the save against the Yankees
- 37:12Speaker 4: after ball was tossed around and he was chasing some balls.
- 37:16Speaker 4: Chappy just needs to stay on the mound because something
- 37:19Speaker 4: was going on that he was running after the ball
- 37:21Speaker 4: and it was not looking hip knee, something was limping.
- 37:25Speaker 4: And he still stayed out there and still threw one
- 37:27Speaker 4: hundred and one to finish out that inning, and then
- 37:30Speaker 4: obviously the Red Sox came back and won it. But
- 37:32Speaker 4: this dude, this dude defies a lot of a lot
- 37:35Speaker 4: of things in life.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a house right, he lifts his face off.
- 37:41Speaker 2: He's thirty eight, still one of the best relievers in baseball.
- 37:45Speaker 2: He's amazing, and hopefully he lands on a contender in
- 37:48Speaker 2: a few weeks at the trade deadline.
- 37:50Speaker 1: We'll see what the Red Sox do.
- 37:54Speaker 4: Worked out last time he went to another team and
- 37:56Speaker 4: the time before.
- 37:57Speaker 2: That good bad, ugly. We'll start with the Yankees. They
- 38:11Speaker 2: were good for a while, then they were bad. Now
- 38:14Speaker 2: it's getting ugly, and it's not just the performance on
- 38:17Speaker 2: the field. They're losing players. Judge has been out, He's
- 38:20Speaker 2: still going to be out for a while. Stan's going
- 38:22Speaker 2: to be out for a while. Max Fried has been
- 38:23Speaker 2: out for a while. Carlos Redon went back on the
- 38:26Speaker 2: shelf left elbow inflammation for him, and then their best
- 38:29Speaker 2: pitching prospect who is supposed to be a big deal
- 38:31Speaker 2: in their bullpen, Carlos Lagrnie. I think is how you
- 38:34Speaker 2: say it, will not throw for approximately Leagraney will not
- 38:37Speaker 2: throw for approximately six weeks. No throwing for about six weeks.
- 38:41Speaker 2: So now we're pushing up against late in the season
- 38:44Speaker 2: for a guy who's never pitched in the big leagues yet,
- 38:46Speaker 2: and they're relying on I think they're relying on him
- 38:48Speaker 2: to be a big piece of the bullpen, right, one
- 38:50Speaker 2: of those guys where it's like the league barely sees him.
- 38:52Speaker 2: He pops up in August, and now he's not popping
- 38:54Speaker 2: up in August. I mean, you hope that he'll be
- 38:56Speaker 2: back for September and aj As the bullpen's been okay
- 39:01Speaker 2: for the Yankees been it's been pretty good. I would
- 39:03Speaker 2: say there's some underlying numbers that would scare you for
- 39:06Speaker 2: the postseason. They're among the lowest in velocity and in strikeouts,
- 39:11Speaker 2: and that often can hurt you in the postseason. You've
- 39:14Speaker 2: got guys in the bullpen that can punch tickets, right.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot of not good things happening with
- 39:20Speaker 3: the Yankees, and including the fact that we didn't mention it.
- 39:23Speaker 3: They lost a series at home to the Twins. They
- 39:25Speaker 3: haven't lost a series at home of the Twins ever.
- 39:26Speaker 3: I don't think that I can remember. It's been like
- 39:29Speaker 3: since two thousand and two when I was playing for
- 39:31Speaker 3: the Twins that they have owned the Twins everywhere. It's
- 39:35Speaker 3: including a Yankee stadium. So yeah, this is just it's
- 39:38Speaker 3: one thing after another. Cole's back at least, but then
- 39:40Speaker 3: you lose Slitler got hit his last time out, but
- 39:42Speaker 3: for the first time really in his career. You lose Free,
- 39:45Speaker 3: you lose her it On, you lose her Grond. Hey,
- 39:47Speaker 3: the back end of the bullpen has been okay, it
- 39:49Speaker 3: hasn't been great, but they've been getting used a lot
- 39:51Speaker 3: because like weathers has been struggling. So the back end
- 39:55Speaker 3: of the bullpen, they need Cam Schudller to go out
- 39:57Speaker 3: to night and pitch really well, you know, on the
- 39:58Speaker 3: road in Tampa against Griffin Jackson. On paper, this is
- 40:01Speaker 3: a match of the Yankee should win. But again that's
- 40:03Speaker 3: on paper. But the Yankees they got to figure it
- 40:05Speaker 3: out here because if they lose this series of the Rays,
- 40:08Speaker 3: they're starting to get into that dangerous too far out category. Yeah,
- 40:13Speaker 3: and you don't want to start chasing teams late in
- 40:15Speaker 3: the season because then you have guys, It just it
- 40:18Speaker 3: doesn't set up well. But you also don't want to
- 40:21Speaker 3: necessarily just cruise into the playoffs. So I think this
- 40:25Speaker 3: is something that, like Aaron Judge said, guys, you gotta
- 40:29Speaker 3: figure this out, Like we got we got to.
- 40:32Speaker 4: We're not as focused as we should be. We're not
- 40:35Speaker 4: doing the things that it takes to win a World Series.
- 40:40Speaker 4: And if you're on the Yankees, you never once talk
- 40:44Speaker 4: about anything but winning the World Series. There's never been
- 40:47Speaker 4: a spring training where we're like, you know what, the
- 40:49Speaker 4: American League egast is tough. We just hope to make
- 40:52Speaker 4: it to the playoffs. Like I heard JP Rischardy say
- 40:55Speaker 4: one time when I was in Big league camp with
- 40:57Speaker 4: the Blue Jays, I was like, what, who wants to
- 40:59Speaker 4: just make the playoffs? No, you want to win? Who
- 41:02Speaker 4: cares who's around you. So that's their goal, and I
- 41:05Speaker 4: think him calling them out saying, you know what, maybe
- 41:08Speaker 4: we're not as focused as we should be, and we're
- 41:10Speaker 4: gonna have these conversations, very legitimate things to say. But
- 41:15Speaker 4: it's still a good team. Yes, we're talking about all
- 41:19Speaker 4: their injuries. All these injuries happened before and they were
- 41:22Speaker 4: still winning, they were still in first place. They're not
- 41:24Speaker 4: able to string together solid games. I mean, they had
- 41:28Speaker 4: a seven game stretch where they had thirteen airs. They
- 41:33Speaker 4: had Cam Schlitler in back to back outings. He didn't
- 41:36Speaker 4: give up any earned runs the one time to Boston,
- 41:38Speaker 4: but he also didn't get his team out of the
- 41:41Speaker 4: jam that they put him in. And then the next
- 41:44Speaker 4: game he gave up a lot of runs had that
- 41:46Speaker 4: ball been caught in center field by Spencer Jones. Then
- 41:50Speaker 4: he doesn't face the next three guys that end up
- 41:53Speaker 4: hitting home runs off of him, and he gives up
- 41:55Speaker 4: five runs. Again, he needs to pick up his team.
- 41:58Speaker 4: So I think it's a case where some of these guys,
- 42:01Speaker 4: while they're they're all stars, they're their best players, need
- 42:04Speaker 4: to step up and be able to pick each other
- 42:06Speaker 4: up to get themselves out of this terrible ten game
- 42:09Speaker 4: stretch they've been in.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Also a j I'm gonna say it because I've said
- 42:13Speaker 2: it a couple times this year, and I've said it
- 42:15Speaker 2: multiple times over the last three or four years. They
- 42:18Speaker 2: can't keep playing Anthony Bolpi every day. I'm sorry. It
- 42:21Speaker 2: has hurt the team. They're not putting the best lineup
- 42:24Speaker 2: out on the field. I'm being serious, and Yankee fans
- 42:26Speaker 2: have been losing their mind. They're losing their mind again
- 42:29Speaker 2: because they had a good thing going with Caballero. He
- 42:31Speaker 2: looks like I gotta look at the numbers, but he
- 42:33Speaker 2: looks comfortable at short. He is, I think hitting better
- 42:36Speaker 2: when he's playing at short.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Just put him out there every day. He's a better player, period.
- 42:40Speaker 1: He's the better player.
- 42:41Speaker 2: I know he can play multiple positions, but Pholpy's just
- 42:44Speaker 2: not cutting it for them.
- 42:47Speaker 3: Ton't tell Aaron Boom and Frank Cashman that because their
- 42:49Speaker 3: numbers say that he's better scout, much like you don't
- 42:54Speaker 3: know as much as the Marlins, No, you don't know
- 42:56Speaker 3: as much as the Yankees know. The Yankees are know.
- 42:59Speaker 2: This, but for a team that obviously is you know,
- 43:03Speaker 2: very into something like on base percentage mixed with power.
- 43:06Speaker 2: I mean, he's not really providing either of those things.
- 43:08Speaker 2: He's he's it set some type of record recently where
- 43:12Speaker 2: x amount of plate appearances in first three and change
- 43:14Speaker 2: years or whatever of your career, lowest on base percentage.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Ever ever of any player at that at that number.
- 43:22Speaker 4: The way he heard you, now, he's now he's walking
- 43:24Speaker 4: at a higher clip than he ever has in his career.
- 43:26Speaker 4: He's got three forty on base percentage, so he's got
- 43:28Speaker 4: a higher ops plus than he ever has in his career.
- 43:31Speaker 4: So maybe that's why he's found his way into the
- 43:35Speaker 4: lineup again.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Sorry, I don't see it, but you know, keep keep
- 43:42Speaker 1: running it out there.
- 43:43Speaker 3: What's his I gotta look real quicks plus it's.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Always eighty nine, but let's see if it's eighty nine,
- 43:52Speaker 2: since apparently I'm just crapping on a play.
- 43:55Speaker 1: It's eighty nine, thank you so.
- 43:57Speaker 2: And his slung percentage is three twenty eight.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Eighty nine's above his career. He's an eighty four career,
- 44:03Speaker 3: ye eighty nine, he's doing better. Sw Ibry. Ops is
- 44:11Speaker 3: six sixty two, he says, six sixty eight, So he's
- 44:14Speaker 3: doing better, Scott, So you're wrong.
- 44:16Speaker 4: I do I do believe that maybe right now he's
- 44:20Speaker 4: part of the best lineup that they can run out
- 44:22Speaker 4: there with Aaron Judge out, with Spencer Jones down in
- 44:26Speaker 4: the bushes, with Grisham was out, and so they had
- 44:31Speaker 4: to put the most versatile player in the field or
- 44:36Speaker 4: in in right field, in left field. And I've watched
- 44:38Speaker 4: plenty of games Cabriira gives it his best effort, but
- 44:42Speaker 4: as far as like teams taking advantage of it, I
- 44:45Speaker 4: saw a couple of games where Cabriira had plays where
- 44:48Speaker 4: he had to make a throw to the plate and man,
- 44:50Speaker 4: he got it out of his gloves so fast off target.
- 44:54Speaker 4: So I know teams are coming in and going, hey,
- 44:56Speaker 4: we're gonna take advantage of this. We're gonna take advantage
- 44:58Speaker 4: of the fact that, yes, he gets rid of the
- 45:00Speaker 4: ball quickly, gets to it quickly, which is admirable to Cabiro.
- 45:06Speaker 4: But when it's not accurate, teams just keep on running
- 45:09Speaker 4: and just keep sending them, sending them from third and so, yes,
- 45:12Speaker 4: that's hurting them, but who else are they putting out there?
- 45:14Speaker 4: Because they want to play the platoon advantage and that's
- 45:18Speaker 4: how they've built this team, and right now they don't
- 45:21Speaker 4: have it. It's not going very well form clearly. Yeah.
- 45:24Speaker 2: I mean you're paying Trent Grisham, what twenty something million
- 45:27Speaker 2: dollars with the qualifying offer something around there. Twenty million dollars.
- 45:31Speaker 2: You've got him. Let Martian just run for a while.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Obviously Bellinger is going to play every day out there.
- 45:37Speaker 3: What happens Jones? Sorry, I've been going for two years.
- 45:40Speaker 3: What I'm the Spencer Jones?
- 45:44Speaker 4: A lot of swinging?
- 45:44Speaker 3: This wasn't that the thing in the minor leagues about him? Yeah,
- 45:48Speaker 3: that he's swinging.
- 45:48Speaker 4: Missisi was going to happen. They were hoping. Honestly, I
- 45:51Speaker 4: truly believe when they call a guy up like that.
- 45:54Speaker 4: And I think even the Giants when they called up
- 45:56Speaker 4: Bryce Eldred, I don't think they were like Bryce Eldred,
- 45:59Speaker 4: he's our guy. Because they're only playing against righties, they're
- 46:02Speaker 4: hoping they run into a few balls. No, no front
- 46:05Speaker 4: office executive can show me any numbers that will say, oh,
- 46:10Speaker 4: this guy, Yeah, he's striking out at a thirty five
- 46:13Speaker 4: percent clip in the bushes big league pitching. This is
- 46:17Speaker 4: the one case where big league pitching is not better.
- 46:19Speaker 4: He's gonna hit, he's gonna strike out less. No, they're
- 46:22Speaker 4: gonna strike out more. Everybody talks about it, like, oh,
- 46:24Speaker 4: these these prospects can't develop because Triple A isn't as
- 46:28Speaker 4: good as it used to be, or it's just not
- 46:30Speaker 4: as much talent in Triple A. Where's the talent it's
- 46:33Speaker 4: in the big leagues. Even in games where blowouts, you're
- 46:36Speaker 4: still facing dudes that are better than they are in
- 46:38Speaker 4: Triple A, So you have no chance to just like
- 46:41Speaker 4: get your breath and like you have to learn to
- 46:43Speaker 4: be a good hitter before you get up to the
- 46:45Speaker 4: big leagues. And it didn't work out for Spencer Jones.
- 46:47Speaker 4: I think they hoped he was going to steal a
- 46:49Speaker 4: bunch of bases and add to some of that athleticism
- 46:52Speaker 4: that this roster has, which it hasn't had in other years.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Also, that doesn't mean he can't figure it out in
- 46:59Speaker 2: the big leagues. Hasn't that much time yet, you.
- 47:01Speaker 4: Have to figure it out in the minor leagues. To me,
- 47:05Speaker 4: you have to show me you're not striking out in
- 47:07Speaker 4: the bushes against dudes who are the awrs throwing ninety
- 47:13Speaker 4: one and ninety four in a starting rotation, and then
- 47:15Speaker 4: your your bullpeng guys are like ninety two to ninety
- 47:18Speaker 4: five with not much great life for secondary stuff because
- 47:22Speaker 4: if they did, they'd be up in the big leagues.
- 47:25Speaker 4: So to me, you have to show me you're making
- 47:28Speaker 4: an adjustment, and his numbers have not shown that. So
- 47:32Speaker 4: when you call him up, hey, you know what, bang,
- 47:35Speaker 4: go out and hit some Homer's for us. Hopefully you
- 47:37Speaker 4: get it done. Hopefully run into a few till Grisham
- 47:40Speaker 4: comes back, and then once Grisham came back, send him
- 47:42Speaker 4: back down.
- 47:54Speaker 1: Let's slap, shall we? Well, welcome back everyone.
- 47:57Speaker 2: We did take a Friday Live show off, but we
- 47:59Speaker 2: are cranky leading right into the All Star Game.
- 48:02Speaker 1: A couple of reminders too.
- 48:03Speaker 2: We have a new Rocky show and that is called
- 48:05Speaker 2: Mile High Territory, So if you're a Rockies fan, go
- 48:08Speaker 2: that way. We'll try and figure out where Hunter Goodman was.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Maybe we can get him on tomorrow, but Mile High Territory.
- 48:13Speaker 2: Subscribe to the show on YouTube or wherever you get
- 48:16Speaker 2: your podcasts or both. Also, all Star announcement we did
- 48:19Speaker 2: at the top of the show. If you miss that,
- 48:21Speaker 2: you can rewind back and see where we're going to be.
- 48:23Speaker 2: I'll leave it at that, but we'll be in Philadelphia
- 48:26Speaker 2: dancing around one note we didn't get to because I
- 48:29Speaker 2: had talked about him quite a bit, and it certainly
- 48:31Speaker 2: wasn't a glorious return. But I'm sure the Reds are
- 48:34Speaker 2: still happy to have Hunter greenback aja and he's not
- 48:37Speaker 2: going to give up eight runs every outing. But he
- 48:39Speaker 2: is back now for Cincinnati, and they've been very mad.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Yeah, they've been very me.
- 48:45Speaker 4: And they got Pagan back and he danced around some
- 48:48Speaker 4: rain drops but ended up getting a safe. That's huge
- 48:52Speaker 4: for them.
- 48:54Speaker 2: There was a point where they didn't have their best
- 48:56Speaker 2: position player, their best starting pitcher, and their best closer
- 48:59Speaker 2: for a few weeks.
- 49:02Speaker 1: It might seem they're.
- 49:03Speaker 3: Too far behind for me. The teams in front of
- 49:06Speaker 3: them aren't going to have a full on collapse like
- 49:08Speaker 3: the Mets did last year. I'm sorry. The Brewers are in,
- 49:11Speaker 3: the Dodgers are in, the Mets and Phillies are in.
- 49:14Speaker 3: There's four already, right because yeah, sorry, Braves and the
- 49:18Speaker 3: Mets are out. Yeah, but right, but then you have
- 49:20Speaker 3: to deal with the Marlins. You have to deal with
- 49:21Speaker 3: the Cubs, you have to deal with the Cardinals. I
- 49:23Speaker 3: mean the Reds. I mean, I think Kirk Kurbsrie had
- 49:26Speaker 3: said it best when he's like why do the Reds
- 49:28Speaker 3: do this every year? And his tweet them If you
- 49:30Speaker 3: saw his tweet storm, he was on but it was
- 49:32Speaker 3: kind of fun.
- 49:33Speaker 2: Yeah, the Reds are seven back of a wildcard. That's
- 49:36Speaker 2: definitely how many teams though, a lot of teams, the Padres, Diamondbacks, Nationals, Pirates,
- 49:43Speaker 2: until you finally get to the Marlins and Cardinals, who
- 49:46Speaker 2: are tied for the third wildcard spot right now, with
- 49:50Speaker 2: the Phillies and the Cubs ahead of them. So it's
- 49:52Speaker 2: going to be a fun National League race, and some
- 49:54Speaker 2: of these teams are going to fall off, right, I
- 49:55Speaker 2: mean it's been a great ride for the Cardinals, Marlins, Pirates,
- 49:58Speaker 2: and Nationals. At least two of those teams are not
- 50:00Speaker 2: going to be involved in September, would you agree? Where
- 50:03Speaker 2: they'll be like five to ten games out and we'll
- 50:06Speaker 2: be like, all right, they had a nice run for
- 50:08Speaker 2: half the year.
- 50:11Speaker 4: Yeah, and it'll be a positive. A lot of them
- 50:13Speaker 4: will take it as a positive for their season. Oh see,
- 50:16Speaker 4: we made steps forward the Nationals.
- 50:20Speaker 3: I mean, the Nationals are the obvious choice there, right,
- 50:23Speaker 3: Look how much better we did than we thought?
- 50:26Speaker 4: Look at all the innovations we had with our hitting.
- 50:28Speaker 4: We bought three trajet machines and look what it did.
- 50:32Speaker 4: And now we got to buy the trajet version of
- 50:35Speaker 4: an entire starting rotation.
- 50:37Speaker 2: We talked about snubs on the other side, you know
- 50:40Speaker 2: teams that showed up, of course, five All Stars each
- 50:42Speaker 2: for the Phillies, the Braves, the Dodgers. On the American
- 50:45Speaker 2: League side, you had four All Stars for the Yankees,
- 50:48Speaker 2: the Blue Jays, and the Rays showed up with four
- 50:51Speaker 2: All Stars. Pretty good, all deserved, well deserved. Yes, although
- 51:00Speaker 2: Ronda didn't get in.
- 51:02Speaker 4: That's what I was trying to think of the fourth.
- 51:04Speaker 4: It's I was trying to think of the fourth. I
- 51:06Speaker 4: pull the list.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Wait, Baker.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Baker was Baker Rasmussen and YONDI.
- 51:17Speaker 1: You're going to forget Brian Baker, but Baker got it.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we were big on that ale. First
- 51:27Speaker 3: base is tough, especially with lad gets in.
- 51:31Speaker 4: Right already out.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Yeah, Lad's out now with the back. So maybe that's
- 51:37Speaker 1: how can you.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Play in the regular season, But then you can't play
- 51:40Speaker 3: in the All Star Game.
- 51:43Speaker 4: You know your back is not going to be good
- 51:45Speaker 4: in a week.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh, I know, I know who we can ask
- 51:50Speaker 2: every ASTROS player over the last decade that would sit
- 51:54Speaker 2: out the All Star Game and not want to hear
- 51:56Speaker 2: the booze.
- 51:56Speaker 1: I'm sorry, it's true. We barely seen Astros players for
- 52:00Speaker 1: years now. I mean, now you keep moving along and.
- 52:02Speaker 2: There's guys that are separated enough, but there was a
- 52:04Speaker 2: time period for a while where they would.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Do anything they could to get out of that situation.
- 52:08Speaker 1: It's true.
- 52:11Speaker 3: Taking reports to cut.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Even last year, Esak Barat has had the itis from it,
- 52:16Speaker 2: and he had no affiliation with that stuff.
- 52:18Speaker 1: Back then.
- 52:19Speaker 2: He didn't have the hamstring, he had the no to
- 52:25Speaker 2: the All Star Game.
- 52:26Speaker 1: He wasn't on the IL at the time. You just
- 52:28Speaker 1: said no.
- 52:30Speaker 4: Too much, resk.
- 52:32Speaker 1: A lot of rookies in McGonagall.
- 52:34Speaker 4: That's why I mentioned on the al side. That's why
- 52:36Speaker 4: I didn't play good in the first half of seasons,
- 52:39Speaker 4: so that I wouldn't make the All Star too. I
- 52:40Speaker 4: wanted that exactly.
- 52:42Speaker 2: I'm glad you did that for everyone, but Bazana get
- 52:44Speaker 2: in McGonagall, Parker, Messick, hal Stewart, some good names that
- 52:49Speaker 2: are in rookies.
- 52:51Speaker 1: We're excited. Krats hats on the way out.
- 52:56Speaker 4: I mean I was wearing it because Hunter was coming
- 52:58Speaker 4: on the show, but.
- 52:59Speaker 1: No, you were wearing your first Billy.
- 53:02Speaker 4: Yes, because we're because mile High is part of the
- 53:06Speaker 4: we should have. Mile High should be on every single
- 53:08Speaker 4: day at fort and one. That should be the time
- 53:10Speaker 4: that it comes on, so that people definitely check out
- 53:14Speaker 4: Billy and Troy.
- 53:16Speaker 1: I was in Denver over the weekend. Yeah, your wor Scott,
- 53:19Speaker 1: I'm going to leave it at that.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Dead's dead this weekend.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I read Rock today. It was so good.
- 53:26Speaker 4: Yeah, Red Rock.
- 53:31Speaker 2: And tonight is a big night. It is Team USA
- 53:35Speaker 2: matching up against Belgium, and when the US scores, you
- 53:38Speaker 2: can win a share a five hundred thousand dollars in
- 53:40Speaker 2: bonus bets for every US goal. So place a five
- 53:42Speaker 2: dollars or more pre match bet on any World Cups
- 53:45Speaker 2: game match with the US playing, which is tonight, apply
- 53:49Speaker 2: your goal rush coken and for every goal scored by
- 53:52Speaker 2: the US and the match you want to share a
- 53:53Speaker 2: five hundred thousand dollars in bonus bets that are split
- 53:56Speaker 2: among all eligible winners after the match.
