- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to Artists on Artists on Artists on Artists.
- 0:07Speaker 1: This week on the show, we have a very special
- 0:10Speaker 1: episode as we dive into the Artists on Artists on
- 0:13Speaker 1: Artists on Artists vaults. We're going all the way back
- 0:16Speaker 1: to nineteen sixty nine, at the height of the Greenwich
- 0:19Speaker 1: Village music scene, to talk to the very special folk
- 0:23Speaker 1: supergroup Two Sons, two Daughters.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Folk music was sweeping the nation in the Roaring sixties
- 0:30Speaker 2: or Swinging sixties, or folk sixties as they were called.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Will take you now back to that time.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Crosby Stills, Nash and Young Bob Dylan. These are just
- 0:41Speaker 3: a few of master folk artists who shape us today.
- 0:46Speaker 4: So sit down, start making that dandy Lyon crown. Bring
- 0:51Speaker 4: out your acoustic guitar and or banjo and get those
- 0:54Speaker 4: harmonies ready. Let's listen in.
- 1:00Speaker 1: All my brothers and sisters, we are here together. Maybe
- 1:02Speaker 1: we start with a little this land is your land.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah, little this Land is your land. Let's get it started.
- 1:07Speaker 5: Five A six A five six.
- 1:10Speaker 2: This land is your land. This land is my land.
- 1:16Speaker 1: From californ Yeah, to the New York guy Land, red Wood.
- 1:26Speaker 4: To the Ghostream Wall, this land.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Was made wowble was amazing.
- 1:39Speaker 6: It was awesome.
- 1:41Speaker 5: I'm really excited to be here with my brothers and
- 1:43Speaker 5: sisters here today.
- 1:44Speaker 1: What a beautiful community we have. I mean, this is
- 1:47Speaker 1: the most exciting time of our lives. This is such
- 1:51Speaker 1: a wonderful, wonderful place to be.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Can't believe it, this summer of sixty nine, spending it
- 1:56Speaker 2: with my favorite band in the world, Two sons, two daughters.
- 1:59Speaker 5: They're gonna write songs about this.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it feels like somebody's got to write a song
- 2:03Speaker 4: about the summer of sixty nine.
- 2:05Speaker 5: Somebody might.
- 2:06Speaker 4: Somebody's got it.
- 2:08Speaker 2: And I keep saying we should.
- 2:09Speaker 6: Or maybe a whole group would.
- 2:12Speaker 5: Maybe they would, a.
- 2:13Speaker 6: Bunch of us writing songs.
- 2:16Speaker 5: We were at the Cafe Will last night till four am.
- 2:18Speaker 5: I can't believe we're even here.
- 2:20Speaker 4: No, my good, this is incredible. Thank you guys for
- 2:23Speaker 4: having us. We, of course, are the two Sons and
- 2:26Speaker 4: two Daughters, legendary Folks singing group. We met at Oberlin College,
- 2:35Speaker 4: that's right.
- 2:36Speaker 6: Yeah, Oberlin School of the Arts.
- 2:39Speaker 2: We met at a protest. Yes, they were cutting our
- 2:43Speaker 2: potato servings at the cafeteria.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Cutting down how many potatoes a student was allowed to eat.
- 2:48Speaker 2: And the man said three potatoes, and we said no more.
- 2:53Speaker 5: Yes.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So we decided we organized for four potatoes. We let
- 2:56Speaker 1: every trash were four more.
- 3:00Speaker 2: And a lot of people didn't recognize that there was
- 3:02Speaker 2: a period in between no more and four.
- 3:04Speaker 7: People thought we were asking for no more for. We
- 3:06Speaker 7: were actually on the side. And I will say that
- 3:09Speaker 7: that was at the faults of the organizers. And the
- 3:10Speaker 7: people were citing no more four. That's where we decided
- 3:14Speaker 7: to organize it. We said, we can read our own punctuation.
- 3:17Speaker 7: We need to make songs for ourselves.
- 3:19Speaker 8: I think it was me who said, why don't we
- 3:22Speaker 8: have the inflection go up on four, that's right, and
- 3:25Speaker 8: the inflection go down on more.
- 3:27Speaker 4: Do it for us one time? Like that? Do it
- 3:30Speaker 4: for us one time like yeah, reminder.
- 3:32Speaker 6: How it goes no more four yes.
- 3:35Speaker 5: So we were all chanting no more four no.
- 3:40Speaker 6: Instead of four no more for, yeah, no more for.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And that's when we realized, you know, we said, hey,
- 3:47Speaker 1: we all need to be sung, and the four hundred
- 3:49Speaker 1: students said, we're not here to sing, and we realize
- 3:52Speaker 1: we were.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Because they were here. I'll tell you what.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Maybe this is controversial, Okay, go on.
- 3:57Speaker 2: They were here to become lawyers. Yeah, and doctors and politicians.
- 4:02Speaker 2: They were here to become the man.
- 4:04Speaker 5: That's not my scene.
- 4:05Speaker 2: That's not when we were there.
- 4:06Speaker 5: That's not my scene.
- 4:07Speaker 2: That's not what Oberlin means to me.
- 4:08Speaker 5: No, what you Oberlin.
- 4:12Speaker 2: To me is a hug. Oberlin to me is a
- 4:15Speaker 2: is a drive with the top down and the windows up.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Oberlin to me is loving life.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Go ahead. Oberlin to me is a fern tree. A
- 4:24Speaker 4: fern tree, you know.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Obd to me is an open freeway with little mom
- 4:30Speaker 5: and pop shops along the way.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Mom and pop shop along the freeway. Huh like in
- 4:36Speaker 2: the center media Mama.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Pop shop along the freeway, Mom poway, Mom and poppy.
- 4:48Speaker 9: Look at these mom and pops. They're struggling on a
- 4:52Speaker 9: urbin road. They just have the old shop set up.
- 4:57Speaker 9: And then the man brings his bulldoor down, ruins there
- 5:02Speaker 9: little town and builds a six lane halloway. Is it
- 5:07Speaker 9: a halloway?
- 5:09Speaker 10: Oh?
- 5:10Speaker 11: Wee free yet? Well is it a freeway? And we
- 5:15Speaker 11: don't have right mon.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Along the freeway, Along.
- 5:25Speaker 6: The freeway, along the freeway.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Thank you?
- 5:32Speaker 5: I love that song.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Why don't we go around and say our name?
- 5:35Speaker 5: Sure?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Well, we are the two sons and the two daughters,
- 5:38Speaker 1: And as we all know, we're the two sons and
- 5:40Speaker 1: two daughters of America. We all represent a different thing
- 5:42Speaker 1: in America, of which we are the child of. So
- 5:45Speaker 1: I'm the son of the trees. I'm the son of nature.
- 5:48Speaker 1: They call me park ranger Ted, and I am so
- 5:51Speaker 1: grateful that you guys found me and allowed me to
- 5:55Speaker 1: join you. I've always wanted to be a park ranger,
- 5:58Speaker 1: but I've had a beautiful voice, so it's off me
- 6:00Speaker 1: from actually becoming a park range.
- 6:02Speaker 4: They wouldn't let you. You would be bringing in all
- 6:04Speaker 4: the animals to the It's got dangerous.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It was a hazard. I would sing and the animals
- 6:09Speaker 1: would come into the shack and they're all about, you know,
- 6:13Speaker 1: preserving and respecting the animals. But for the animals kind
- 6:16Speaker 1: of can't get enough of me. They're obsessed with me.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I heard you. That species of bird, that rare
- 6:21Speaker 2: species of bird all died because they drowned. They followed
- 6:25Speaker 2: you into a river.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah, they followed me into a river and they drowned
- 6:28Speaker 1: because I was singing underwater and the bubbles would pop
- 6:30Speaker 1: up and little notes would come in, and they wanted
- 6:32Speaker 1: to get to the root of it.
- 6:35Speaker 2: They wanted to get the root of it. I understand.
- 6:37Speaker 5: If there's one thing about birds, man, they like to
- 6:39Speaker 5: get to the root of things. That's right, man. But
- 6:41Speaker 5: I'm really happy to be here.
- 6:43Speaker 2: I am a.
- 6:44Speaker 8: Daughter of the river, of the river, I'm a daughter
- 6:48Speaker 8: of I'm Bony.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Bony is really fun. She's the daughter of the river.
- 6:55Speaker 4: She's an awesome, awesome, awesome chick from green Point, Michigan.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Who we can't wait to introduce you.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Oh, thank you, thank you. Go ahead. I just thought
- 7:04Speaker 4: you I just thought you were done. I just because
- 7:07Speaker 4: you kind of like, well, you did this thing where
- 7:09Speaker 4: you just kinda stop talking, So I thought you were done.
- 7:11Speaker 4: And I was trying to throw your bone.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Am my dog robbed.
- 7:15Speaker 4: Just really trying to throw your.
- 7:16Speaker 6: Bone, the bony and the roads. But when it gets
- 7:20Speaker 6: to you, I'll.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Go, well, okay, okay, man. This group makes me feel alive,
- 7:30Speaker 2: feel alive.
- 7:31Speaker 5: I don't think we're ever gonna break up.
- 7:33Speaker 4: We're going to break up. There's no tension or anything not.
- 7:37Speaker 2: As long as we keep all dating each other.
- 7:40Speaker 5: We happen to keep dating each other.
- 7:42Speaker 4: It's gonna go south before moons tonight. I can't wait.
- 7:52Speaker 2: Me and you, Well, we were here. First of the
- 7:54Speaker 2: month it was me and you, and second month it
- 7:56Speaker 2: was me and you.
- 7:57Speaker 5: But then I get you on holidays, and then we're weekends.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Right, We're weekends, weekends and visiting hours on Thursday.
- 8:05Speaker 6: Yeah, and you and I are only if we have to,
- 8:07Speaker 6: only if.
- 8:07Speaker 4: We have to.
- 8:08Speaker 5: So I guess we gotta figure out this. M can't wait,
- 8:12Speaker 5: can't wait for Anita Baker to see that I hate.
- 8:15Speaker 4: He's gonna be furious at that.
- 8:17Speaker 5: I'm gonna kill her.
- 8:18Speaker 6: If I'm a daughter of the river, what are you
- 8:20Speaker 6: a daughter of?
- 8:22Speaker 2: You know I'm a daughter. My name is Jennifer, Jennifer Cricket.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I am a daughter of the railroad and the boss man.
- 8:30Speaker 2: The boss man on the railroad berthed me through steel
- 8:33Speaker 2: and labor, blood, sweat and tears. I represent the song
- 8:37Speaker 2: of the working man the working woman, and we are
- 8:40Speaker 2: we were out on these streets. I got fired.
- 8:43Speaker 12: You know.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I was said to be a steel worker for the
- 8:45Speaker 2: rest of my life, rest of my life, whole life.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Day one come up, baby, and I wanted steal. But
- 8:52Speaker 2: I decided when a boss man fired me this something
- 8:56Speaker 2: had to change. Because I was fired unjustly, and now
- 9:01Speaker 2: I felt I built the music. I built the music.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Boss man fired me. It radicalized me, and then I
- 9:09Speaker 2: turned to music and now I'm here a daughter of
- 9:13Speaker 2: the railroad. Can you believe it?
- 9:16Speaker 5: I can't. In this group, I'm so happy you're the
- 9:20Speaker 5: most pro labor, pro union folk artist.
- 9:23Speaker 2: I know, I love the union.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Well, the working man built this country, so it's very
- 9:29Speaker 1: responsible for us to have someone like you and this group.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I would say that it goes against a lot of
- 9:33Speaker 1: what we're trying to fight, the capitalism taking things down.
- 9:37Speaker 5: But it's nice to have your perspective.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Well, we're the working man, we're not the working man
- 9:40Speaker 2: doesn't have the dollar in his pocket, that's the boss man.
- 9:43Speaker 1: But we're not fighting for the dollar. We're fighting for
- 9:46Speaker 1: the trees. We're fighting for the river, and you're fighting
- 9:47Speaker 1: for the railroad.
- 9:49Speaker 2: And I'm fighting to expand the railroad.
- 9:53Speaker 6: And that's when I get the jobs.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Let it trickle down, Let it trickle back from the
- 9:58Speaker 2: boss man to my pocket. Come on, now, lay those tracks,
- 10:02Speaker 2: bring those jobs from Michigan to California. I'll tell you this,
- 10:05Speaker 2: I'm seeing to shine in sea.
- 10:07Speaker 6: We're never gonna break up We're never gonna break up.
- 10:10Speaker 2: We're never gonna break up. We are so in sync,
- 10:12Speaker 2: it's like I start a fit sentence and.
- 10:16Speaker 5: And I'm waiting for you to start.
- 10:19Speaker 2: We're never gonna break up.
- 10:21Speaker 6: We're never gonna break up.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Hello, my name is Gravy Turkey Leg.
- 10:26Speaker 3: And Gravy Turkey Leg grew up all the way near Chatsworth, California.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Yeah, Chatsworth, California right now, which is Orange Groves right now?
- 10:35Speaker 6: And what is he a son of He is a
- 10:37Speaker 6: son of fire.
- 10:40Speaker 4: I'm the son of fire. I believe that the inside
- 10:43Speaker 4: every man, inside every woman is a fire that's burning
- 10:47Speaker 4: with some sort of anger, passion, rage, And if we
- 10:50Speaker 4: just tap into that, maybe we can free ourselves from
- 10:53Speaker 4: these human bodies and connect on a different level.
- 10:55Speaker 5: You hear, Yes, I would say you're the most spiritual
- 11:00Speaker 5: of the group.
- 11:01Speaker 4: I wouldn't say that, but yeah, I guess so, I
- 11:04Speaker 4: guess I would just say that.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Then sometimes we have to take a look at Gravy's
- 11:09Speaker 1: writings and just make sure that they're not I guess
- 11:14Speaker 1: I'll call them manifestos.
- 11:16Speaker 9: Right.
- 11:16Speaker 1: A lot of what you write tends to be manifested anger.
- 11:19Speaker 1: It's really angry and we have to sit down and.
- 11:21Speaker 4: Well, there's a weird thing that happens with a lot
- 11:23Speaker 4: of my writing is people either take them as manifestos
- 11:26Speaker 4: or they can't understand the lyrics even in the slightest right.
- 11:29Speaker 8: Well, I think there's an interesting intersection between when a
- 11:33Speaker 8: paragraph becomes a manifesto and lyrics become preaching.
- 11:38Speaker 5: Yeah, that's very interesting, and.
- 11:40Speaker 4: It intersects right on my pen.
- 11:43Speaker 5: Right.
- 11:44Speaker 2: And then you know, sometimes we have to have a sidebar,
- 11:47Speaker 2: because you know, you feed the lyrics, we take them.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Sometimes we have to have a sidebar and go, is
- 11:52Speaker 2: this a call to action? Does this seem like a
- 11:54Speaker 2: call to action to any sort of lone wolf individual.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Let's just make sure that there's not a call to
- 11:59Speaker 2: action in here.
- 12:00Speaker 4: This is where I get very confused, because sometimes I'll
- 12:02Speaker 4: be like, I was just writing about an orange blossom.
- 12:04Speaker 4: You guys, you guys are saying this is a call
- 12:07Speaker 4: to take down the man in charge, tie him up.
- 12:10Speaker 2: And well, because it was because of your song, a
- 12:13Speaker 2: beautiful orange blossom, let's kill the president.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Yeah, so that was just about an orange blossom. I
- 12:19Speaker 4: don't know how that was misinterpreted.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Maybe play it for us and we can hear by
- 12:22Speaker 1: the way, we don't use instruments. We use God's instrument.
- 12:25Speaker 1: We use the instrument that nature provided us. Where we're
- 12:28Speaker 1: all an a cappella group, just like the folk tradition.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Hundreds of years we've been singing using just our voices
- 12:34Speaker 1: the instruments that the creator gave us.
- 12:36Speaker 8: My instrument is whatever that's supporting me. So if I'm
- 12:40Speaker 8: sitting on a chair, that's the instrument, and if I'm
- 12:43Speaker 8: sitting on the ground, that's the instrument. It's whatever supporting
- 12:46Speaker 8: me on this earth, and.
- 12:48Speaker 4: That's a beautiful thing. You're always playing the chair, you're
- 12:50Speaker 4: always playing the.
- 12:51Speaker 6: Ground, because usually it's either the chair or the ground.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Maybe that's about life.
- 12:57Speaker 2: That's usually what you're sitting on.
- 12:58Speaker 8: But what you said, I think is so important because
- 13:01Speaker 8: you said, is it a call to action? Is amazing
- 13:04Speaker 8: grace a call to action?
- 13:06Speaker 5: No?
- 13:07Speaker 4: I would say no, No, it's more of a reflection
- 13:08Speaker 4: of how amazing. But it could be.
- 13:11Speaker 2: It could be if someone here's that, here's the amazing grace,
- 13:15Speaker 2: how amazing she is, it might inspire man to go
- 13:19Speaker 2: take out a loan, give it to the poor.
- 13:20Speaker 5: No, it's not no amazing grace is not asking. It's
- 13:23Speaker 5: saying I once was lost, but now I'm found.
- 13:25Speaker 2: But it's providing such a shiny example for what you
- 13:28Speaker 2: could be.
- 13:28Speaker 5: Amazing grace is not pro capitalism, man.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Amazing grace is about about about by the grace of God.
- 13:36Speaker 4: So the dollar flows by the grace of God.
- 13:39Speaker 2: So the dollar flows by the grace of God.
- 13:44Speaker 4: So the dollar.
- 13:46Speaker 2: Flows by the grace of God. So the dollar flows by.
- 13:54Speaker 5: The grace of God. So the dollar flows, and.
- 14:00Speaker 6: I grow, and we flow.
- 14:05Speaker 2: And we flow down to the boss man. Knock on
- 14:10Speaker 2: his door, say, boss man, I need a raise. Gimme
- 14:16Speaker 2: something more, boss Man, Take me home with you. I
- 14:20Speaker 2: want to meet your wife.
- 14:23Speaker 6: Boss Man.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Let's rock all night, boss Man. Take me home. Your
- 14:29Speaker 2: wife is hot, boss Man.
- 14:32Speaker 4: So, Gravy, I wanted to say that song was such
- 14:37Speaker 4: a choice, it was so amazing that that so took
- 14:41Speaker 4: a life of it.
- 14:42Speaker 2: I just I just want to cause hear the music
- 14:44Speaker 2: and I don't.
- 14:45Speaker 5: I just want to mention, Gravy, you were about to
- 14:48Speaker 5: sing a song about an orange, and we sing that
- 14:50Speaker 5: one and said that we won't be going.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Back all We sang about something completely different, and that
- 14:59Speaker 4: the art man that's what you get to. This is
- 15:02Speaker 4: when you run a woman over on the railroad.
- 15:04Speaker 2: On the railroad, Yes, when you run over, something happened.
- 15:08Speaker 4: This is the beautiful thing about our group. You know.
- 15:10Speaker 4: It's just ebbs and flows. You know. Sometimes you spend
- 15:14Speaker 4: four nights writing a song from the heart and it
- 15:17Speaker 4: and it will never be brought up and it will
- 15:18Speaker 4: never be shown again. But somebody has a good idea
- 15:21Speaker 4: and in the moment we try to work it out.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Sometimes it lands, sometimes.
- 15:25Speaker 5: It doesn't well.
- 15:26Speaker 1: One thing I want to say is we all get
- 15:28Speaker 1: a song in our set, right. We usually do about
- 15:31Speaker 1: an eight song set. We do it at the gas
- 15:33Speaker 1: lamp or the gas light. Samuel was the gas lamp
- 15:37Speaker 1: for the gaslight, the gas light the gas light cafe.
- 15:41Speaker 6: Leave that in.
- 15:43Speaker 5: We all do it at the gaslight cafe. We get
- 15:45Speaker 5: down there and we get an eight song set. So
- 15:47Speaker 5: then we all sing a song that we've chosen.
- 15:50Speaker 1: And then there's four songs that are kind of up
- 15:52Speaker 1: in the air and we end up usually not being
- 15:54Speaker 1: able to decide on any of them.
- 15:55Speaker 4: We make them, we try to find them. There's there's
- 15:57Speaker 4: a couple that we find in the moment, a couple
- 16:00Speaker 4: we look at each other and it's just we all
- 16:02Speaker 4: have a song that we really want to sing in
- 16:04Speaker 4: those fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eight slots. Yeah, but we
- 16:06Speaker 4: can't decide, so we just try to find it in them.
- 16:08Speaker 5: I want to bring one up that became one of
- 16:10Speaker 5: our most popular course. Yes, you wrote it.
- 16:14Speaker 1: It was you wrote it about me. It was don't
- 16:16Speaker 1: look at me like that, And it became this incredible,
- 16:19Speaker 1: powerful anthem.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it was. It was beautiful to find such an
- 16:23Speaker 4: anthem of the time to be And the metaphors in
- 16:26Speaker 4: this song, I'm sure you guys will hear if you
- 16:27Speaker 4: guys listen closely, they are palpable, they bite.
- 16:32Speaker 8: Yeah, don't look at me like that. Don't look at
- 16:37Speaker 8: me like that. I want to turn off your light,
- 16:41Speaker 8: and I want to shut it off forever.
- 16:44Speaker 6: Don't look at me like that.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Don't look at me like that.
- 16:49Speaker 6: I want to shut off your light and turn it
- 16:52Speaker 6: off forever.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Now, I was a son of the daughters, and I
- 16:56Speaker 1: was a daughter of the man, and I was a
- 16:59Speaker 1: man of the child, and I am a child of
- 17:02Speaker 1: my mother. And my mother and my father and my
- 17:04Speaker 1: dad met me and we went to the store, and
- 17:06Speaker 1: we went too down into the world, and we saw
- 17:10Speaker 1: the wheat on the counter, but we.
- 17:11Speaker 5: Said, the wheat is from the field. So what am
- 17:14Speaker 5: I going to feel?
- 17:16Speaker 1: The doctors and the son and the mother and the
- 17:17Speaker 1: father and the docter and the son are sad.
- 17:20Speaker 4: Don't look at me like that.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Don't look at me like that.
- 17:27Speaker 4: Forever I was walking down the road, I saw a
- 17:32Speaker 4: little dog. Hey dog, Hey, dad, you're my dad. I'm
- 17:36Speaker 4: your dad. Hey, what's going on with your dog? Hey?
- 17:40Speaker 4: Dog says to me.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Dog.
- 17:42Speaker 4: He says Vietnam, And I say, let's be free, take
- 17:46Speaker 4: up barns and take then the man time to kill
- 17:49Speaker 4: the president. He's sitting in the Oval Office seven o
- 17:53Speaker 4: four right now. Don't look at me like that. Don't
- 17:56Speaker 4: look at me like that.
- 17:58Speaker 6: I want to shut your forever forever.
- 18:03Speaker 2: I think.
- 18:03Speaker 8: What what's hard for me about that song is that
- 18:06Speaker 8: the Oval Office comes in and I lose the melody
- 18:10Speaker 8: that suddenly we're at the Oval Office.
- 18:11Speaker 4: And I feel like I'm more on the melody than ever.
- 18:15Speaker 2: You know what I said, You've dropped the Oval Office.
- 18:18Speaker 2: And then you see you start to see a couple
- 18:20Speaker 2: of guys in the crowd have an idea.
- 18:22Speaker 4: This is the thing that idea and we got a
- 18:24Speaker 4: deal with. I don't know what they're talking about. That
- 18:26Speaker 4: was a nice exchange. Bet me a human and a dog.
- 18:28Speaker 4: He's trying to talk the nature of man. I don't
- 18:33Speaker 4: know what did that.
- 18:34Speaker 1: At the gaslight last night? And I forgot to tell
- 18:36Speaker 1: you guys this. Joan Bias came up to me. We
- 18:38Speaker 1: all know Joni John sweet.
- 18:41Speaker 5: Joan Bias came up to me and she said, what
- 18:44Speaker 5: was that?
- 18:45Speaker 1: And I told her we kind of came up with
- 18:47Speaker 1: it in the moment, and she goes that answers a
- 18:50Speaker 1: lot of my questions.
- 18:52Speaker 4: About what I don't know it was about us? Can
- 18:54Speaker 4: I can we talk about just about and she's so sweet?
- 18:59Speaker 4: But can we just talk about it? He was talking
- 19:00Speaker 4: about so wonderful, so wonderful, and I.
- 19:03Speaker 13: Don't mean to talk shit, No, but why don't we
- 19:05Speaker 13: talk shit tonight?
- 19:07Speaker 5: Well, okay, let's just say so, Joan. No one else
- 19:11Speaker 5: is singing like.
- 19:11Speaker 4: That, literally maybe doing a little much hold a note
- 19:15Speaker 4: instead of ranging shaking so much.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Yeah, why are you riding a horse in the studio?
- 19:20Speaker 2: Come on, Jony, feel as.
- 19:22Speaker 6: If it's pushed.
- 19:24Speaker 5: I mean, while we're talking about it, can we talk
- 19:26Speaker 5: about Bob Dylan.
- 19:27Speaker 2: No, let's talk.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Let's talk about Bob. Let's talking about Bob really funny.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I think he's hilarious, I think. And that's the thing.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I feel like a kindred spear with him a little bit.
- 19:38Speaker 4: His songs are so misinterpreted. Yeah, he's just writing comedy songs.
- 19:43Speaker 4: He's writing stand set up punchline over and over and over. Yeah,
- 19:48Speaker 4: he wants you to laugh and people are crying. Pisses
- 19:51Speaker 4: me the fuck off. Makes me want to do something,
- 19:53Speaker 4: something wild, something crazy, something that people go back and say,
- 19:56Speaker 4: I remember him.
- 19:58Speaker 6: He's on down, boy, he's it down, He's down.
- 20:02Speaker 2: That sounds like a cold action my friend.
- 20:03Speaker 4: Again, I'm just speaking from the heart. From five.
- 20:06Speaker 2: You see two men just popped out behind the curtain
- 20:09Speaker 2: and they're kind of nodding their head at you. SCRAMs.
- 20:11Speaker 14: Those are my boys, Those are my talk about one
- 20:14Speaker 14: more person, Midge Masel Midge Midge, stand up comedian, Upper
- 20:21Speaker 14: west Side coach.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Let us Focumusic coming in with your Upper west Side.
- 20:26Speaker 4: I'm just like, don't. We're trying to have a moment
- 20:29Speaker 4: here and you're trying to come up with jokes about
- 20:32Speaker 4: how hard it is to have a husband.
- 20:34Speaker 15: I don't care about your cafilter fish.
- 20:38Speaker 6: I want to sing about the water in the road.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And that manager.
- 20:49Speaker 4: Woman.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I mean, I get how the two of them are
- 20:52Speaker 2: an odd couple. They should write a play about him
- 20:54Speaker 2: or something. But why are you hanging out together? What
- 20:58Speaker 2: do you bring into the days?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Let us have our space. I'm pissed Lenny Bruce. I
- 21:02Speaker 1: liked him and now he's bringing that girl around.
- 21:04Speaker 4: A lot all the time. Hey, so maybe we should
- 21:07Speaker 4: leak this on this whatever this recording is becoming. But
- 21:11Speaker 4: we are actually currently day to night in the studio
- 21:14Speaker 4: working on a brand new album that we are super
- 21:18Speaker 4: pumped about.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Yes, we're singing into a victrola a gramophone day and night.
- 21:24Speaker 1: We're using the old recording methods. It's important, man, it's
- 21:27Speaker 1: important to restore and remember the old traditional ways bella
- 21:31Speaker 1: bar talk used to go to European villages and record
- 21:34Speaker 1: folk songs into a gramophone.
- 21:35Speaker 5: That's what we're doing. Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 2: Sometimes we've had this awesome thing set up where we
- 21:41Speaker 2: have the gramophone just rolling twenty four to seven, so
- 21:44Speaker 2: we could come in and do a little confessional if
- 21:46Speaker 2: we want, and we can kind of talk about how
- 21:48Speaker 2: the recording is going, our thoughts about the other people
- 21:51Speaker 2: in the group.
- 21:52Speaker 4: They actually have a couple gramophone clips of that. If
- 21:55Speaker 4: they do, we will actually.
- 21:56Speaker 6: Play the Gramma P camera confessional.
- 21:59Speaker 4: It's just read to camera confessionals mixed in with some
- 22:02Speaker 4: of our songs. They kind of cut it together of
- 22:04Speaker 4: confessionals into moments pieces of our songs.
- 22:07Speaker 16: Yes, yes, the river, the river is wide the river.
- 22:17Speaker 16: The river is called the river.
- 22:20Speaker 1: The river is fast, And I'm at home in the river, Mama,
- 22:26Speaker 1: I'm at home in the river.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Okay, Can I be real? My call time is too early?
- 22:33Speaker 2: This is so whack. I mean, they said show up
- 22:37Speaker 2: at eight and then they're not even ready to go.
- 22:39Speaker 2: So why am I here setting up pretzels like I'm crew?
- 22:43Speaker 15: I have the taxi, A taxi that brought me home,
- 22:47Speaker 15: brought me home.
- 22:48Speaker 6: To Mama hailed a taxi there brought me home.
- 22:56Speaker 4: There's a roastby sandwich, yeah, brought It's delicious. You want
- 23:02Speaker 4: to bite? No, Okay, I'll just keep eating my roastby sandwich.
- 23:10Speaker 4: I don't like these people anymore.
- 23:12Speaker 17: I think that's my hay in the river went down
- 23:17Speaker 17: to the south, and the river took me home.
- 23:24Speaker 2: And the river. It went up north and the river
- 23:31Speaker 2: took me home.
- 23:33Speaker 5: I just don't I don't know what I want. What
- 23:36Speaker 5: do you want me to say into this? What's with
- 23:38Speaker 5: the Oh? No, I'm not matter anybody. Did they say
- 23:41Speaker 5: something about me? What are they saying about it?
- 23:44Speaker 4: A big ship is coming, it's coming down the road.
- 23:48Speaker 4: It's riding on the river, and it's got a big
- 23:51Speaker 4: old toad and the toad says, kill the president because
- 23:55Speaker 4: they're bombing Vietnam.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Okay, I have something to say. I think he was
- 23:59Speaker 1: ripping off Johnny Cash and I don't know who to tell.
- 24:05Speaker 4: Wow, that was some great clips.
- 24:07Speaker 5: That's amazing, man. I think this is going to be
- 24:08Speaker 5: the future.
- 24:09Speaker 4: We're never gonna break up.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Yes, clips for us to have.
- 24:12Speaker 6: Anyone have a clip of mine?
- 24:16Speaker 5: Let's go look is there clips?
- 24:18Speaker 2: Is there?
- 24:19Speaker 4: C Yeah?
- 24:20Speaker 5: Yeah, this is a clip clip. Let's play it.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Way. The Devil went down to Georgia. Georgia, Can I
- 24:28Speaker 2: have some dollars? He said? Can I have some time?
- 24:32Speaker 2: Think that's a clip? Can meet you?
- 24:37Speaker 4: I was the clip of you? You're wrong?
- 24:40Speaker 2: Are you saying that?
- 24:42Speaker 4: That's I thought was gonna say.
- 24:45Speaker 2: A lot of the clips have a lead in of
- 24:47Speaker 2: a song. So maybe that's why we clip.
- 24:50Speaker 4: This is what we we did. Devil and down to
- 24:52Speaker 4: Georgia too.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Devil went down to Georgia to we were got that
- 24:55Speaker 2: clip clip. Devil went death to Georgia.
- 24:59Speaker 4: He he said, okay, here I've gotta here's the clip
- 25:03Speaker 4: of Bonie and I'll play it right now. Well, the
- 25:07Speaker 4: Devil went down the joint. He was looking for a fight.
- 25:11Speaker 4: He found a guy on the street and said, do
- 25:13Speaker 4: you want to fight?
- 25:15Speaker 2: What?
- 25:16Speaker 5: So that?
- 25:16Speaker 4: What was that?
- 25:17Speaker 5: Sound? Really cut?
- 25:18Speaker 2: Like I'm trying to get you.
- 25:20Speaker 5: Can I talk about something? Bonye? Is it? Okay? So
- 25:24Speaker 5: you're scared of a lot of this technology and we
- 25:27Speaker 5: try to get you in the room.
- 25:28Speaker 4: It's really hard to get you with the recording booth
- 25:29Speaker 4: because you're so scared you run out.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Like it's true. I tried to take a polaroid of
- 25:35Speaker 2: you and you wouldn't show up for days.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Stop.
- 25:41Speaker 1: There's a Patreon you need to get into. It's the

- 26:15Speaker 18: What is the scariest thing in America? The scariest thing
- 26:22Speaker 18: in America is the camera? Where is the camera going to?
- 26:29Speaker 18: Where is the camera talking to you? The cameras all
- 26:32Speaker 18: the scariest thing in America. I think they're terrifying.
- 26:39Speaker 4: Yeah, we got that.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I get it. No, I mean you were raised
- 26:44Speaker 2: in that really really restrictive household.
- 26:48Speaker 6: I think they're all plugged into the President.
- 26:52Speaker 13: I think they all plugged into the Congress, so of
- 26:55Speaker 13: the library, representatives, who, congressmen who? They're all the cameramen
- 27:05Speaker 13: And I won't do it.
- 27:08Speaker 5: Yeah, that is beautiful, can I say so?
- 27:12Speaker 1: Fun Bunnie has a natural singing voice in that she
- 27:14Speaker 1: sings naturally as she's talking, and so sometimes I don't
- 27:18Speaker 1: know if you want us to sing with you, but
- 27:19Speaker 1: we do it it ends up being.
- 27:21Speaker 8: You know, but sometimes it's hard because I'm trying to talk.
- 27:24Speaker 8: But I'm really singing, but sometimes I'm not trying to
- 27:26Speaker 8: lead into a song.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I remember that there was that time that you were
- 27:29Speaker 2: trying to park your car and someone was blocking you,
- 27:32Speaker 2: but you just kept singing about it, and so we
- 27:34Speaker 2: we were joining in, but we didn't realize you couldn't
- 27:36Speaker 2: You couldn't escape the parking.
- 27:38Speaker 6: Biggest songs.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, let's play that song.
- 27:44Speaker 6: Here's this spot opened?
- 27:47Speaker 5: Open?
- 27:48Speaker 4: Open?
- 27:50Speaker 2: No? No, no, no no?
- 27:51Speaker 6: Is this spot opened? I'm asking you, but.
- 27:57Speaker 15: Are you pulling out or pulling inn?
- 28:05Speaker 4: It had no river?
- 28:08Speaker 5: Should we talk? We performed that at Woods Canna sound
- 28:11Speaker 5: like a.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Couple of the notes were fighting each other.
- 28:14Speaker 4: And that's the beauty of us.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Is a distance.
- 28:16Speaker 6: There's quite the big I.
- 28:18Speaker 4: Heard jazz drummers love playing along to our songs because
- 28:21Speaker 4: they gonna figure it out in the they gonna make
- 28:24Speaker 4: it make sense.
- 28:24Speaker 5: I mean that song hitting the heartbeat of America. Man,
- 28:27Speaker 5: is the spot open or not? Is our future open
- 28:30Speaker 5: a week? Is there a spot for us with the
- 28:32Speaker 5: fat cats?
- 28:33Speaker 1: Is there a spot for us with the corporations putting
- 28:35Speaker 1: their bpes in all of our food?
- 28:38Speaker 5: Is there a spot for us to move forward? Or
- 28:40Speaker 5: is that closed?
- 28:41Speaker 1: Are we parallel parking on a one end street that's
- 28:44Speaker 1: gonna go nowhere?
- 28:45Speaker 6: Is there a spot for us?
- 28:46Speaker 2: Is there a spot? Is there a spot in my
- 28:48Speaker 2: wallet for a dollar from the boss man? Is there
- 28:51Speaker 2: a spot in my savings account for a rough ira
- 28:54Speaker 2: from the boss man to me?
- 28:56Speaker 4: Is there a spot? Is there a spot? Is there
- 28:59Speaker 4: a spot for me to buy a gun? Is there
- 29:02Speaker 4: a spot for me to fight for Vietnam? Is there
- 29:04Speaker 4: a spot for me to do something wild? Is there
- 29:06Speaker 4: a spot for me? President? President?
- 29:10Speaker 5: Real quick?
- 29:11Speaker 1: Do you guys understand we're talking about different spots? Do
- 29:14Speaker 1: you hear yourself?
- 29:15Speaker 4: No?
- 29:16Speaker 15: No, because I'm talking about a parking spot.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I was for a dollar.
- 29:21Speaker 4: I was also talking about a parking spot. Okay, Hey,
- 29:25Speaker 4: so yeah, let's talk about Woodstock.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Let's talk about one.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Of the most amazing experiences in all of our lives.
- 29:32Speaker 13: I mean, thank god they separated it into two weekends.
- 29:36Speaker 4: Two weekends. Yeah, it was so we played with It
- 29:40Speaker 4: wasn't as exciting as woods We was.
- 29:43Speaker 5: So we were at and not a lot of people
- 29:45Speaker 5: know this. We were at weekend two of Woodstock.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Yes, well that's where the Yeah, the celebrities don't really drop.
- 29:51Speaker 4: In it's so weekend one. A lot of the press
- 29:55Speaker 4: is writing about it, you know, Jimmy Hendrappen, that whole
- 29:59Speaker 4: weekend amazing. The sponsors are tough, most people had left
- 30:04Speaker 4: mud everywhere. Most just the people that were so high
- 30:07Speaker 4: they needed a weak break in Woodstock to figure out
- 30:10Speaker 4: who they were again. And the janitorial staff and the
- 30:13Speaker 4: janitorial staff. Yeah, and I felt so amazing that weekend.
- 30:16Speaker 2: And do you guys have any Woodstock memories that weekend too?
- 30:21Speaker 2: I mean, my gosh, because I I loved taking a
- 30:26Speaker 2: little bit of LSD with a couple of girls who
- 30:31Speaker 2: I met at the Inheritance. Those girls were absolutely rocking
- 30:36Speaker 2: and we saw something that we had never seen before.
- 30:40Speaker 4: What was that?
- 30:41Speaker 2: It was the sunrise?
- 30:43Speaker 4: Oh yeah, you always wake up so late.
- 30:45Speaker 2: I wake up so late. That's one of my many things.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Well, I know it was in the album The Call Time.
- 30:50Speaker 5: Do you have an issue with exactly?
- 30:54Speaker 2: It's one of my many two things. And so when
- 30:57Speaker 2: I woke up with those girls arms wrapped around each other,
- 31:02Speaker 2: sun rising, colors popping, we kind of went, oh my god,
- 31:06Speaker 2: this is just like dusk. There's nobody talking about this.
- 31:08Speaker 6: You wrote those two songs about to Jessica's.
- 31:11Speaker 2: To Jessica's my arm, left arm around to Jessica, right
- 31:15Speaker 2: arm around to Jessica sing it. I got my left
- 31:20Speaker 2: arm round to Jessica, right arm round to Jessica, left
- 31:24Speaker 2: arm round to Jessica right left, right right on.
- 31:32Speaker 10: Left leg right left right right leg, left leg, My
- 31:43Speaker 10: body's right, my Jessica's my body, my Jessica, jessicasd with Jessica.
- 31:55Speaker 2: So take a ride to school with Ma Jessica. Go
- 31:59Speaker 2: to strong Jessica, Jessica, Ma Jessica. Know it's the value
- 32:05Speaker 2: of a dollar.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Unbelievable.
- 32:10Speaker 1: And can I say, honestly, the most period correct song.
- 32:17Speaker 5: Truly from that era?
- 32:21Speaker 4: You really want? Left arm one right on, three left
- 32:24Speaker 4: legs one right left. The break I think is so
- 32:31Speaker 4: good PM completely changing halfway through.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I gotta ask because because this comes up a lot,
- 32:36Speaker 2: This actually has come up a few times. Can someone
- 32:39Speaker 2: explain five to four.
- 32:42Speaker 5: You should we should have had this.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Should have this conversation day.
- 32:46Speaker 4: We're never gonna and we're never gonna be able to
- 32:49Speaker 4: explain it to you.
- 32:51Speaker 13: Shoot, I'll give you example.
- 32:55Speaker 2: Yeah, show me.
- 32:56Speaker 13: It's like how there are some roads that are shorter
- 32:59Speaker 13: and some roads that are longer.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Yeah, but at the end of the day, they're all roads.
- 33:04Speaker 1: That's comparing sequoia to an oak. A mighty redwood might
- 33:08Speaker 1: be a six eight, and uh, maybe a beautiful weeping
- 33:12Speaker 1: willow might be a three to four.
- 33:14Speaker 4: So maybe this is actually easiest one two three?
- 33:18Speaker 2: What about this? What about? What about?
- 33:20Speaker 6: What about a doobie that smokes quicker but it's fatter.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Oh like a as opposed to a.
- 33:29Speaker 1: What about a government fat cat that'll take away housing,
- 33:32Speaker 1: as opposed to a nice young community organizer who's fighting
- 33:37Speaker 1: for equality.
- 33:38Speaker 4: So again, let me just try it.
- 33:40Speaker 2: So, which one's a dollar and which one's a dome?
- 33:42Speaker 4: Again? Let me just one, two, three, four five, one
- 33:46Speaker 4: two three full five. I've lost her And there's no
- 33:50Speaker 4: way to explain.
- 33:50Speaker 2: This show was so close.
- 33:53Speaker 6: It's a difference between hash and potatoes.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Hash and potatoes. The man wants to have us have
- 33:59Speaker 2: three potatoes. We want four potatoes.
- 34:02Speaker 5: I think I get Hey, we already won that fight.
- 34:06Speaker 5: We got four potatoes.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Do you guys ever think about what's happening in Oberlin?
- 34:10Speaker 19: What if we can't fight yesterday's fights? Man, we can't
- 34:14Speaker 19: fight yesterday's fight. To the Dean we have to fight
- 34:17Speaker 19: tomorrow's fights. We have to be ready in our gear
- 34:19Speaker 19: for tomorrow's fights. Man Dean's office, and make sure the

- 37:38Speaker 2: I would kill jfk uh Mary. Mickey Mouse.
- 37:44Speaker 6: Harmonizedmized.
- 37:47Speaker 5: It's actually really messed up to here? Do you understand
- 37:49Speaker 5: that happened five years ago?
- 37:51Speaker 2: Oh my god? Too soon? Why did you let me
- 37:53Speaker 2: say that?
- 37:53Speaker 4: Too fresh?

- 37:59Speaker 2: look at me anymore. Stop looking at me. Stop looking
- 38:01Speaker 2: at me. Man. I messed up. I put my foot
- 38:03Speaker 2: in my dang mouth, sing about it. I put my
- 38:07Speaker 2: phone in my month.
- 38:09Speaker 4: Why do we let her.
- 38:12Speaker 2: In my mo?
- 38:13Speaker 9: Put my put my mo?
- 38:20Speaker 2: Said something I shouldn't say again, said something I should
- 38:28Speaker 2: never say.
- 38:29Speaker 5: You can around.
- 38:29Speaker 2: I said something I should never say. I said something
- 38:34Speaker 2: I should never say. In my mouth.
- 38:39Speaker 4: Put in my mouth, Put my phone in my mouth,
- 38:47Speaker 4: put my fa in my mouth.
- 38:50Speaker 12: I told my mother I liked her soup. Then I
- 38:54Speaker 12: found out she had poop in her bad. She was bad,
- 39:01Speaker 12: So I feel really bad.
- 39:04Speaker 4: Put my foot, put my foot in my mouth. Put
- 39:12Speaker 4: my foot in my mouth.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Put my foot in my mouth.
- 39:20Speaker 15: I sang too many songs. Now I feel like everything's wrong.
- 39:26Speaker 15: And sometimes I want to speak, but I feel like
- 39:31Speaker 15: the cameras make me meek.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Put my foot in.
- 39:35Speaker 2: My mouth, Put.
- 39:39Speaker 4: In my mouth, put my in my mouth, put my
- 39:44Speaker 4: fat in my mouth. Yes, the banks of the river
- 39:49Speaker 4: they do rise when we fall. That now, and the man,
- 39:56Speaker 4: he's a shill. It's the president. I want you to kill, but.
- 40:03Speaker 2: I don't do that.
- 40:24Speaker 5: The Beatles are going to be pissed it up.
- 40:28Speaker 2: That's what we say after a lot of our.
- 40:30Speaker 4: Records, when it's when it hits, When it hits, we say,
- 40:33Speaker 4: the Beatles are gonna be And when we steal Yellow Submarine,
- 40:37Speaker 4: we realize that's what it was. So that's what it was.
- 40:42Speaker 4: I was like, this song sounds so familiar. I just
- 40:46Speaker 4: can't play it.
- 40:47Speaker 2: No, wait, there's no way I thought of that. There's
- 40:50Speaker 2: no way I have the control there was.
- 40:52Speaker 4: I hoped it was original. Maybe we all just dream
- 40:57Speaker 4: this and it's original.
- 40:59Speaker 2: As I know, it was yellow summer in the whole time.
- 41:02Speaker 6: I just wanted to sing a song new.
- 41:06Speaker 4: So this actually happens a lot in the studio. We
- 41:08Speaker 4: sing a banger of a song, realize we've interpolated one
- 41:11Speaker 4: of another Beatles songs or any other ye.
- 41:14Speaker 6: I hated when I lay down my favorite song and
- 41:16Speaker 6: you had to break it to me. Dear gravy. Won't
- 41:20Speaker 6: you shut up.
- 41:21Speaker 2: And suck.
- 41:24Speaker 6: Gravy?
- 41:25Speaker 2: I don't know this one.
- 41:27Speaker 6: Suck up and grow up.
- 41:30Speaker 1: I remember when I did Big Roots, Don't be a Tree,
- 41:37Speaker 1: take your big brand.
- 41:40Speaker 5: Shan't be a tree?
- 41:42Speaker 6: So is it be a tree or don't be a tree?
- 41:44Speaker 5: That's the question? Man who's supposed to be?
- 41:48Speaker 4: I hate it when I did at Night Killer Paulaician,
- 41:54Speaker 4: take a gun and aimy for.
- 41:56Speaker 9: There until the day. You only wait for one thing,
- 42:06Speaker 9: and that's the kill.
- 42:09Speaker 2: I hate it when I do hold on. It's so
- 42:12Speaker 2: hard to interpolate when you haven't, when you're not trying
- 42:16Speaker 2: to do it on purpose. It's so hard. Let's say, oh,
- 42:21Speaker 2: what's that song about remembering yours?
- 42:24Speaker 4: Remembering yesterday?
- 42:25Speaker 2: Did you just do.
- 42:28Speaker 4: Yesterday to? I wouldn't say yesterdays about remember remember yesterday,
- 42:36Speaker 4: re memory.
- 42:37Speaker 2: I sang it in my high school graduation. I can't
- 42:39Speaker 2: remember for the life of me. Well, Nona, Nona, Hey, Hey, hey, hello,
- 42:50Speaker 2: and then we stole that one.
- 42:51Speaker 5: Yeah, not for the Beatles, not.
- 42:53Speaker 4: For the Beatles. I don't know if it's released yet.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Lease deal that from listen.
- 42:59Speaker 1: Man, that from stadiums listen, grienwish Village is a cosmic
- 43:02Speaker 1: convergence stadiums.
- 43:08Speaker 9: From.
- 43:09Speaker 1: If we're talking a song that doesn't exist yet, we're
- 43:12Speaker 1: in the cosmic convergence of all music that has been
- 43:14Speaker 1: or ever will be. Okay, so we're just channeling something.
- 43:18Speaker 1: We understand something you might even not understand. Okay, we
- 43:20Speaker 1: have a future.
- 43:21Speaker 2: I okay, baby, how was I supposed to know? If
- 43:29Speaker 2: you guys heard this before?
- 43:30Speaker 4: That was awful?
- 43:31Speaker 2: That old baby, baby, I shouldn't have let you go
- 43:46Speaker 2: how you wanted to?
- 43:48Speaker 1: There's been It hasn't been a single proper noun in
- 43:50Speaker 1: this whole song. Need to know where's the fight?
- 43:53Speaker 2: Because where's the saying about what we need to do
- 43:56Speaker 2: in the world.
- 43:56Speaker 5: He is killing me, So who are you gonna fight?
- 44:00Speaker 2: I must confess I still believe?
- 44:03Speaker 5: And what in God Creator?
- 44:05Speaker 2: Then I'm not with you while I lose my mind.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Give me his sad.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Okay, it's kind of Christian one more time. Oh my god,
- 44:17Speaker 4: I want to throw up. Taste bad.
- 44:19Speaker 5: Listen, look at me.
- 44:21Speaker 1: Was that you sung about your own child asking it
- 44:24Speaker 1: to hit you in the face?
- 44:25Speaker 2: Oh my god? What happened to the railroads? What happened
- 44:28Speaker 2: to the working man? Where is he in? This? Is
- 44:31Speaker 2: he dead?
- 44:32Speaker 4: There was something about that song that felt like was
- 44:35Speaker 4: reaching for something real, but actually it was vapid and
- 44:39Speaker 4: empty and marked the end of.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Us, almost like it was vapid on purpose.
- 44:46Speaker 4: Almost like it was just trying to make money.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Folk will never die. Wherever we are, folk will be,
- 44:55Speaker 5: people are watching. They'll be watching recordings of this that
- 44:58Speaker 5: they were getting this on film. They'll will be watching
- 45:00Speaker 5: recordings of this sixty seventy years from now, and we'll
- 45:04Speaker 5: be more relevant than we've ever been.
- 45:05Speaker 6: Boom boom.
- 45:07Speaker 5: That doesn't help when you do stuff like that, it
- 45:11Speaker 5: doesn't help you understand that.
- 45:12Speaker 1: I feel like I'm constantly undermine I feel like I'm
- 45:15Speaker 1: holding an old tradition.
- 45:16Speaker 5: What he Guthrie came to me and he said, hey,
- 45:18Speaker 5: maybe leave this group.
- 45:20Speaker 2: What the heck? Why would you leave us? We're the
- 45:24Speaker 2: most functional folk group in all of America.
- 45:26Speaker 6: Every single melody I'm saying is folk.
- 45:30Speaker 5: I know, but you have different values. You care about
- 45:33Speaker 5: the tax man. You're trying to build a cult. It's
- 45:36Speaker 5: very clear. Charlie Manson was there the other day. I
- 45:38Speaker 5: don't like what he's up to. I'd watch him a
- 45:39Speaker 5: chill guy. No, I know he's a musician. Chill. You
- 45:42Speaker 5: had me play drums. He played drums for me.
- 45:43Speaker 4: They sounded crazy and they actually worked drum.
- 45:48Speaker 19: We should really talk about getting him in the bank,
- 45:51Speaker 19: adding Charlie Manson, he's doing a lot of good work
- 45:54Speaker 19: over there.
- 45:55Speaker 1: No, he's fucking every girl Dennis Wilson's house, so the
- 45:58Speaker 1: beach Boys over on the freakin' Pacific Coast Highway. I'm
- 46:01Speaker 1: not interested in that. Oh yeah, you you got a
- 46:05Speaker 1: good heart. You got something in there. I want you
- 46:10Speaker 1: to focus. Wait, come with me, maybe we'll join up.
- 46:13Speaker 1: We'll do a duo group performing twenty five different empathies.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Hey, what the heck is this.
- 46:23Speaker 6: Getting I'm getting a vision.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, oh my god, oh my god.
- 46:31Speaker 8: Baby, can't you see I'm going.
- 46:39Speaker 13: Tall man with red Baby O'Brien from down the strangers.
- 46:44Speaker 6: You know you want man.
- 46:50Speaker 8: Whoa your taxic?
- 46:56Speaker 15: I'm sipping on the ties of the book a little bit.
- 47:02Speaker 6: To you, and you know that I'm conan.
- 47:08Speaker 5: I don't know what to think of that.
- 47:10Speaker 4: Wow, that felt like even more vapid than the one before,
- 47:15Speaker 4: Like that wasn't even trying to say something.
- 47:17Speaker 5: If the music gods are channeling us, I'm concerned for
- 47:23Speaker 5: our future.
- 47:24Speaker 4: I know what we need to do. Write a song
- 47:27Speaker 4: that will last so long they can't deny folk music
- 47:31Speaker 4: when it turns sixty years from now.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Maybe a song that never ends.
- 47:38Speaker 5: Yes, oh yes, a song it's undeniable because you can't
- 47:41Speaker 5: turn it off.
- 47:42Speaker 2: That's how we save music. Yes, we create a song
- 47:46Speaker 2: that lasts forever.
- 47:47Speaker 5: A sixty years song.
- 47:50Speaker 13: It's almous, us stiff, as if the songs of the
- 47:53Speaker 13: past are ghosting us now.
- 47:56Speaker 6: And what we must do to break the cycle is
- 47:59Speaker 6: to sing a song that will never end, a song.
- 48:01Speaker 2: That never ends. Let's make a pact right now to
- 48:04Speaker 2: start singing and not stop singing for sixty years.
- 48:09Speaker 4: That'll keep us together, that'll keep us together.
- 48:12Speaker 6: The only question is what is the song.
- 48:15Speaker 4: I'm singing a song that'll never.
- 48:18Speaker 5: H Maybe not that one singing never starting.
- 48:27Speaker 4: I'm singing a song that'll never.
- 48:30Speaker 6: Will we sing along or will we not?
- 48:32Speaker 4: And I'm singing a song that'll never it starts, okay,
- 48:40Speaker 4: singing a.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Song that'll never.
- 48:42Speaker 6: We get to decide do we want to join.
- 48:46Speaker 2: I'm singing a song that'll never.
- 48:50Speaker 6: For justice, it feels like they're all over the song.
- 48:54Speaker 5: This goes.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I'm gonna give this never.
- 49:01Speaker 5: Back to the top, this lasts for a year, I'll.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Jordan the song that'll never. What happens when we get hungry?
- 49:08Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 49:09Speaker 2: I'm singing a song that will never.
- 49:12Speaker 4: It's crazy. It's like your body is in five four.
- 49:15Speaker 4: I'm singing the song that neighbor.
- 49:20Speaker 5: You have to.
- 49:22Speaker 4: Song like that never? Oh, I like that.
- 49:28Speaker 6: I'm singing a song that will never.
- 49:30Speaker 5: I might just jumping justice, be careful see the daughter
- 49:34Speaker 5: of the river. You'll get blown away.

- 50:26Speaker 4: two three four.
- 50:28Speaker 2: I'm singing.
- 50:29Speaker 4: I'm singing a song that we don't sing this last
- 50:32Speaker 4: sixty years. It doesn't lasted four minutes. You don't sing
- 50:36Speaker 4: on the one, you don't sing on the to get.
- 50:38Speaker 5: This many notes, three minutes and it's not gonna last.
- 50:41Speaker 4: It feels like the bones.

- 51:23Speaker 6: the gun.
- 51:24Speaker 2: You really want me to use that gun, my friend. No,
- 51:28Speaker 2: I don't know how to use this.
- 51:29Speaker 5: I don't know how to use this.
- 51:30Speaker 4: I'm a man of peace, man, I don't have to
- 51:33Speaker 4: do this.
- 51:33Speaker 2: I don't have to do this either.
- 51:36Speaker 6: If you shoot, I shoot, and if you shoot, I shoot.
- 51:41Speaker 4: And this is exactly what I've been saying the whole time.
- 51:45Speaker 4: Peace only goes soul fall. And in order to stop me,
- 51:51Speaker 4: you're gonna have to do something you regret for the
- 51:54Speaker 4: rest of your life, but something that's good, something for
