  Speaker 2: I'm gonna start this off. That's what John chapter one,

  Speaker 2: verse thirty five through thirty seven. This little background. John
• 4:59
  Speaker 2: has been an amazing book so far. We see that
• 5:05
  Speaker 2: the word was with God in the beginning, and the
• 5:08
  Speaker 2: word became flesh and the word was God. So we
• 5:14
  Speaker 2: have the deity of Jesus Christ right there at the
• 5:19
  Speaker 2: beginning of the book. John is a disciple that whom
• 5:25
  Speaker 2: Jesus loved. John had a deep, loving relationship with our
• 5:30
  Speaker 2: Lord Jesus Christ, Amen, our Savior. We went through another
• 5:37
  Speaker 2: book of John, that is, he wrote the Book of Revelation. Amen.

  Speaker 2: And even in the early Church, corruption and false teaching
• 5:50
  Speaker 2: and false doctrine started to creep in. So John had
• 5:54
  Speaker 2: to write to push it back, and a lot of
• 5:58
  Speaker 2: his epistles one of the heavy hitters in the gospel.

  Speaker 2: So right now we're gonna look at the first disciples
• 6:12
  Speaker 2: that were called. We're also gonna look at John the Baptist. Right,
• 6:18
  Speaker 2: John the Baptist, his ministry is very successful, but he
• 6:22
  Speaker 2: knew that he was there. They handed off to Jesus Christ,
• 6:29
  Speaker 2: and that is a successful ministry. We should hand everything
• 6:33
  Speaker 2: off to Jesus. And that point to ourselves, because we
• 6:38
  Speaker 2: and ourselves can do nothing, and that takes a lot
• 6:41
  Speaker 2: of the pressure off. Jesus fights our battle. He's our provider,
• 6:45
  Speaker 2: our protector, he is our counselor. So let him be
• 6:52
  Speaker 2: who he wants to be in your life. Amen. So
• 6:56
  Speaker 2: let's take a look at the first disciples a man.

  Speaker 2: So in verse eighty five, and again the next day,

  Speaker 2: John stood with two of his disciples and looking at
• 7:15
  Speaker 2: Jesus as he walked. He said, behold the lamb of God,

  Speaker 2: who takes away the sin of the world. Now the
• 7:28
  Speaker 2: two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. Now,
• 7:38
  Speaker 2: John the Baptist didn't keep followers just for himself. He
• 7:43
  Speaker 2: didn't hold him, he didn't hold on tights. He didn't
• 7:47
  Speaker 2: try to suck everything out of him. No, he pointed
• 7:52
  Speaker 2: them to Jesus. His mission was never about self glory,
• 7:59
  Speaker 2: but it was about preparing the way, and that is humilitating.

  Speaker 2: Sometimes we want people to follow us instead of Christ,
• 8:11
  Speaker 2: which is crazy. Now John shows us the model. Now,
• 8:16
  Speaker 2: this is how we are supposed to do it. When
• 8:21
  Speaker 2: folks leave us for Jesus. That is a successful ministry.
• 8:31
  Speaker 2: When we say that, when people leave us or Jesus,
• 8:38
  Speaker 2: when they grow up and enough maturity in them to say,
• 8:44
  Speaker 2: you know what, I'm gonna go directly to the Lord,
• 8:50
  Speaker 2: that is a successful ministry. Amen eight and thirty nine.

  Speaker 2: Then Jesus turn and, seeing them following, said to them,

  Speaker 2: what do you seek? They said to him, Rabbi, which
• 9:10
  Speaker 2: is to say, when translated, teacher, where are you staying?

  Speaker 2: He said to them, come and see. Now the first
• 9:23
  Speaker 2: words of Jesus in John's Gospel is what do you seek?
• 9:32
  Speaker 2: That's a question for every heart, and that's deep as well.

  Speaker 2: Now Jesus didn't say who do you seek? But what
• 9:46
  Speaker 2: do you seek? Are you looking for blessing, a quick fix?
• 9:53
  Speaker 2: Or are we truly seeking him? And he knows as
• 10:00
  Speaker 2: a matter of fact, we're going to read in this book,
• 10:02
  Speaker 2: Lord Willing that when Jesus fed the multitudes with just
• 10:14
  Speaker 2: loads and a fish, he multiplied it. Everyone ate and
• 10:19
  Speaker 2: the bellies were full. When Jesus went to the other
• 10:23
  Speaker 2: side of the lake and they followed behind him, he said, look,
• 10:28
  Speaker 2: you don't seek me. You're just seeking to get food
• 10:31
  Speaker 2: from me. Like, don't just seek to get food from me,
• 10:35
  Speaker 2: but seek heavenly things. So that's a heart check right there.

  Speaker 2: What do you seek? We should ask that question daily
• 10:52
  Speaker 2: in prayer, all right, Verse forty through forty two. And uh,

  Speaker 2: you know, if you notice, I'm just high lighting, I'm

  Speaker 2: just getting the meat out of the scriptures, because you know,

  Speaker 2: this is a long book, so we'll probably switch it up.

  Speaker 2: Sometimes we'll go verse by verse, read the whole text,

  Speaker 2: or just get the meat out of it. Verse forty
• 11:28
  Speaker 2: through forty two. It says one of the two we
• 11:32
  Speaker 2: heard John speak and follow him was Andrew, Simon's Peter's brother.

  Speaker 2: He first found his own brother Simon and said to him,
• 11:44
  Speaker 2: we had found the Messiah, which is translated to Christ.

  Speaker 2: And he brought him to Jesus. And man, Andrew is
• 11:55
  Speaker 2: always seen the scriptures, is bringing people to Jesus Christ.

  Speaker 2: First he brought his brother, later a boy with the lows. Now,

  Speaker 2: said to him follow me. Now Philip was from the Saida,

  Speaker 2: the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathaniel and

  Speaker 2: said to him, we have found him who Moses in
• 13:14
  Speaker 2: the law. And also the prophet wrote Jesus of Nazareth. Wow,

  Speaker 2: that is an amazing discovery. God revealed that to his heart,
• 13:28
  Speaker 2: the son of Joseph, and Nathaniel said to him, and

  Speaker 2: anything good come out of Nazareth. Philip said to him,

  Speaker 2: Come and see now, Philip, his words were just simple,
• 13:42
  Speaker 2: Come and see. Now. That is a powerful evangelist. You
• 13:51
  Speaker 2: don't have to debate, just invite. Notice the skepticism, though,
• 13:57
  Speaker 2: can anything good come out of Nazareth? Sounds like people
• 14:01
  Speaker 2: today right? Can anything good come out of the church,
• 14:08
  Speaker 2: out of hip hop, out of your life? But the
• 14:14
  Speaker 2: imitation is still the same. Come and see, Come and
• 14:19
  Speaker 2: see the demonstration of power by the Holy Spirit. Amen

  Speaker 2: now Verse forty seven through fifty one. Jesus saw Nathaniel
• 14:36
  Speaker 2: coming towards him and said to him, behold and Israel
• 14:40
  Speaker 2: like indeed, and whom is no deceit. Nathaniel said to him,
• 14:47
  Speaker 2: how do you know me? Jesus answered to him, before
• 14:53
  Speaker 2: Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree,
• 14:57
  Speaker 2: I saw you that, Thaniel. And he said and said
• 15:00
  Speaker 2: to him, Rabbi, you are the son of God. You
• 15:06
  Speaker 2: are the King of Israel. Jesus answered and said to him,
• 15:12
  Speaker 2: because I said to you I saw you under the
• 15:15
  Speaker 2: fig tree, do you believe you will see greater things
• 15:22
  Speaker 2: than this? And he said to him most assuredly. I

  Speaker 2: say to you. Here after you shall see the heaven

  Speaker 2: open and the angels of God Us sending and descending

  Speaker 2: upon the son of Man. Hallelujah. This is rich, this

  Speaker 2: is good. Let's break this down now. Jesus knows of Nathaniel, right,
• 15:55
  Speaker 2: and his knowledge of Nathaniel revealed his divinity. This must

  Speaker 2: have been a word of wisdom or word of knowledge.

  Speaker 2: And I love it because it took something simple like
• 16:12
  Speaker 2: this for Nathaniel to believe and receive. And Jesus said, hey,

  Speaker 2: you're going to see greater things than that. Now. The

  Speaker 2: fig tree was often in a place of prayer and meditation.

  Speaker 2: Jesus saw him in the secret place. Hey, man, remember
• 16:38
  Speaker 2: we got to have that secret place. Now. Jesus sees
• 16:47
  Speaker 2: us in the hidden moments. Think about like think think
• 16:55
  Speaker 2: about that for a second, even in the secret hidden moments,
• 16:59
  Speaker 2: Jesus in our quiet struggles, and he promises, you will
• 17:08
  Speaker 2: see greater things. That's for you today, that's for me,

  Speaker 2: that's for us. We will see greater things. He sees us.

  Speaker 2: He sees us under the fig tree. He sees us

  Speaker 2: when we're at work, struggling to get along with our coworkers.

  Speaker 2: He sees us when we're at school struggling to study.

  Speaker 2: He sees us when we're at home and the relationships
• 17:45
  Speaker 2: are getting difficult. He sees us under the fig tree,

  Speaker 2: and he says, you will see greater things than these. Amen.
