- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on? Everybody? Jeff Mosher,
- 0:16Speaker 1: Adam Kaplan.
- 0:18Speaker 2: It's the middle of the week inside the Birds and
- 0:20Speaker 2: the Eagles and Adam, I gotta say, I.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Don't think this is understating it.
- 0:24Speaker 2: This Week seven game coming up against the Minnesota Vikings
- 0:28Speaker 2: on Sunday in Minnesota is somewhat of a cross It
- 0:31Speaker 2: could be somewhat of a crossroads game for this team
- 0:34Speaker 2: coming off two straight losses and all the negativity. I'm
- 0:37Speaker 2: not saying if they lose, the sky is definitely falling,
- 0:40Speaker 2: but it'll feel like that and you will really start
- 0:43Speaker 2: to question.
- 0:43Speaker 1: If the Eagles can get right.
- 0:46Speaker 2: If they can't be right all year and then have
- 0:48Speaker 2: three straight losses, this is a big game.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Yeah, they haven't lost three straights since twenty twenty three
- 0:52Speaker 3: when they lost weeks third. We're talking regular season game
- 0:56Speaker 3: weeks thirteen or fifteen the Niners at home where they
- 0:59Speaker 3: got blown out out. This is the mythst of everything
- 1:02Speaker 3: that the offensive defense completely fell out. Defense was first
- 1:05Speaker 3: than the offense did. Then they got smoked at Dallas
- 1:09Speaker 3: and then you know, we don't need to get in
- 1:11Speaker 3: that Seattle game. That was when it you know, this
- 1:13Speaker 3: is the exposure of Patricia and you know, there was
- 1:18Speaker 3: just an absolute night. It's just a terrible performance.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yep, you know it.
- 1:23Speaker 3: I know, I know fans have been saying for like,
- 1:25Speaker 3: not six weeks, like three or four weeks about the
- 1:26Speaker 3: vibes of twenty three, and I've I've resisted the temptation
- 1:30Speaker 3: to acknowledge it that it's real. I'm with you, guys, certainly,
- 1:34Speaker 3: I'm I'm getting there.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Yeah, the seeds, some seeds are being sown. We try
- 1:39Speaker 1: not to overreact.
- 1:40Speaker 3: In eight years, we've sorry if you're doing it. We
- 1:43Speaker 3: don't go by media narratives or craziness of the fans,
- 1:46Speaker 3: but we're aware of it. And social media. Jeff and
- 1:48Speaker 3: I check. Obviously, I'm starting to because we read the
- 1:51Speaker 3: YouTube comments. We have to clean out the riff raff
- 1:53Speaker 3: in the nonsense. It's another story. We some of these,
- 1:57Speaker 3: some of these and it's funny to see the infighting
- 1:59Speaker 3: between people. Well it's actual.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I want to know both people, whether I agree
- 2:04Speaker 1: with them or not.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly exactly, but anyway, Yeah, look I get it.
- 2:10Speaker 3: It's it's look, they are foreign too, But you don't
- 2:14Speaker 3: put a you don't put like you know, jacket over
- 2:16Speaker 3: your head and hide. You have to acknowledge some of
- 2:18Speaker 3: the issues, and the defense is not carry of the
- 2:20Speaker 3: offense anymore. That's out the door. Boy. They got manhandled.
- 2:23Speaker 3: We did on our tape show with Cosel fans slid
- 2:26Speaker 3: you could. It's one of the few times when you
- 2:28Speaker 3: watch television you're actually right when you watch it. You
- 2:31Speaker 3: don't need the cooking tape. They got the kicked out
- 2:34Speaker 3: of them, and wow, that was bad. But you said, yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 3: this is a game now on the road again. We
- 2:41Speaker 3: know on our Syriani they've been a terrific one of
- 2:43Speaker 3: the best road teams percentage wise of any head coach
- 2:45Speaker 3: in NFL history over the first five years of his career.
- 2:48Speaker 3: But you know what, Minnesota's a good team. They're going
- 2:50Speaker 3: to get some of their offensive lineman back. They think
- 2:52Speaker 3: this week they've been decimated by injury. We'll get into
- 2:55Speaker 3: the Carson Wentz situation, which the fascinating YEP talked to
- 2:58Speaker 3: Mike Momola about it, who did our show on WBCB.
- 3:02Speaker 3: We love having Mike and Merrill. Malurice with Mike.
- 3:04Speaker 1: That's great. That was a different kind of Mike and
- 3:06Speaker 1: Merrill that people are used to Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 3: Exactly right. It was phenomenal. I've known Mike Mamula for
- 3:12Speaker 3: a year. For a couple of years, we played golf together,
- 3:14Speaker 3: and I love the guy, and he's he knows his
- 3:17Speaker 3: career better than anyone. So I totally forgot about. One
- 3:20Speaker 3: of the best game of his career was against Kurt Warner.
- 3:23Speaker 1: YEP, two sacks and an iron t.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Dude, Wait, now did you hear the hymn said? Did
- 3:27Speaker 3: you remember that?
- 3:28Speaker 1: I listened to all inside the Birds?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Oh you heard it?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Okay, I don't just produce. I'm not just a nice job.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Because I was gonna say, did you actually know that?
- 3:36Speaker 3: So you Joe a camera for a second knows everything.
- 3:38Speaker 3: I wonder if Joe knew that.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Probably knowing the camera, he probably did.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yeah, probably reading in the hotel. But anyway, I couldn't.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Probably he couldn't name the starting quarterback for like the
- 3:46Speaker 2: Lions right now, but he could probably tell you what
- 3:48Speaker 2: happened in nineteen ninety four.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Crazy. So look, as we get into it, we acknowledge
- 3:53Speaker 3: your stuff that we acknowledge. I've got problems from both
- 3:56Speaker 3: sides of the football. You're joking the other day, these
- 3:58Speaker 3: special teams can't carry them anymore with the kickoff returns,
- 4:01Speaker 3: which are horrific. Right, But as we say, when the
- 4:04Speaker 3: kicker and punter are the best part of the football team, yeah, problem.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:08Speaker 2: And by the way, even that is hard to celebrate
- 4:10Speaker 2: because the kick returner and the punt returners have been
- 4:13Speaker 2: so bad. You heard me really go I don't usually
- 4:17Speaker 2: go off, but on my interview with Mike gil on
- 4:20Speaker 2: Football at four on Wednesday, we.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Were talking about how bad the return games have been.
- 4:25Speaker 2: I mean, because it's really impacting the team in a
- 4:30Speaker 2: way that a lot of people aren't discussing. And that's
- 4:32Speaker 2: average starting fuel position has been awful, and it's their
- 4:37Speaker 2: own doing.
- 4:38Speaker 1: It's not like.
- 4:38Speaker 2: These are great punts or anything, or they're just muffing
- 4:42Speaker 2: and botching kickoffs and punt returns, either catching them too
- 4:45Speaker 2: deeply inside the five or or just not catching the ball.
- 4:48Speaker 3: It's bad, all right. So for the people on Britain,
- 4:51Speaker 3: Covey as a kickoff returner. So this is what a
- 4:53Speaker 3: special teams coach told me over the summer. I haven't
- 4:56Speaker 3: really talked much about this so on my travels because
- 4:59Speaker 3: I I'm trying to learn the duel kickoff on what
- 5:01Speaker 3: they look for and just just what they want. And
- 5:05Speaker 3: they want bigger backs, they want running backs. They don't
- 5:08Speaker 3: want receivers back there if they can help it. Kickoff
- 5:12Speaker 3: return right, yes, yes, a good point. Just be clear,
- 5:16Speaker 3: it's a physical return. Now you have to dual returners. Okay,
- 5:21Speaker 3: you want someone who's physical, because what happens is you're
- 5:23Speaker 3: catching it. You know you're you're generally catching it much
- 5:26Speaker 3: farther upfield. Right. The other thing is because they're close
- 5:29Speaker 3: the the the defenders are closer to you want to
- 5:31Speaker 3: be when I'm physical guys there. So the people want
- 5:33Speaker 3: Britain Cobby back there. I'm not saying it can't happen.
- 5:36Speaker 3: It's not ideal. We've called him the crash dummy, that's
- 5:39Speaker 3: what we called him. But he was so good as
- 5:40Speaker 3: a putt returner. Now that gets to my next point.
- 5:43Speaker 3: We don't talk about specials enough. Why the hell is
- 5:45Speaker 3: he not returning special on punts here?
- 5:47Speaker 1: I don't understand him, Xavier Gibson, I mean I don't.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I don't get it. I really and and Stephen, I
- 5:55Speaker 1: don't know if Bigsby has any.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Punt return, but Johanna and is not getting the job done,
- 6:01Speaker 2: and they have guys who have a track record of
- 6:03Speaker 2: getting the job done, and it just seems very interesting
- 6:06Speaker 2: to me that they're not making that change yet.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Yes, I would tell you that now. I also want
- 6:11Speaker 3: to just put this out there. You get roles by
- 6:14Speaker 3: how you perform practice. Okay, generally talking to coaches for
- 6:18Speaker 3: a couple of decades. You can't just give in to
- 6:21Speaker 3: the obvious. If the guy's not doing it, he's not
- 6:23Speaker 3: going to get the role. I get that. But Covey's
- 6:26Speaker 3: done it before and done damn well, we know he's
- 6:29Speaker 3: over the neck injury. That's not the problem. So I'd
- 6:31Speaker 3: like to see I like to see this here. I
- 6:34Speaker 3: like to see him do that. I'm just glad we
- 6:36Speaker 3: addressed this because it's there's things that there are things
- 6:39Speaker 3: that they control. The coaches do that. It's not the
- 6:42Speaker 3: front office's problem. They brought David Gibson and he had
- 6:45Speaker 3: a ball at ball control issue. I had ball security issue.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Excuse me with the Jets. That's why I got cut.
- 6:50Speaker 3: The guy could do it and one of the the
- 6:53Speaker 3: next two or three weeks, this has got to happen.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Yet another part of the major self scout that they're
- 6:57Speaker 3: going to have after week gate boy, Sirianni, he's got
- 7:02Speaker 3: a laundry list here. Okay, he certainly does way longer
- 7:06Speaker 3: for his self. Scout man it you know how any
- 7:09Speaker 3: kicks the coaches out, taking the coaches out, I wouldn't
- 7:12Speaker 3: be doing that.
- 7:13Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, not at all.
- 7:15Speaker 1: All right, So a couple of good things here. Here's
- 7:17Speaker 1: what we're gonna talk about in this podcast.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Right, We're gonna get through some transition transactions that are
- 7:22Speaker 2: really important that have happened since we last talked. We'll
- 7:24Speaker 2: get into intel on that. We'll give intel on the
- 7:26Speaker 2: Eagles injury updates. Some good news there which the Eagles
- 7:30Speaker 2: can be happy about, but also some good news for
- 7:33Speaker 2: the Vikings on the injury front that we'll get into
- 7:36Speaker 2: as well. And I would say the best news for
- 7:38Speaker 2: the Eagles, Adam, since Thursday, since they lost their second straight,
- 7:42Speaker 2: is the fact that both the Commanders and the Cowboys
- 7:46Speaker 2: lost their game too. So those two teams blew a
- 7:49Speaker 2: really good opportunity to gain a ground on the Eagles.
- 7:51Speaker 1: So you never want to lose games.
- 7:53Speaker 2: But certainly the NFC East still for the Eagles are
- 7:57Speaker 2: still in good position now as long as they can
- 8:00Speaker 2: get themselves on track. Let's talk about though, the difficulty
- 8:05Speaker 2: in that in some of the transactions. The big one
- 8:07Speaker 2: was on Monday, Darius Smith just abruptly announces on Instagram
- 8:12Speaker 2: that he's calling it quits. And this is not a
- 8:15Speaker 2: good thing in development for the Eagles. They were already
- 8:18Speaker 2: thin at the edge position and he was playing well.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And there's a third part of this that's really going
- 8:24Speaker 2: to hurt them that I'll get into in a second,
- 8:26Speaker 2: but just the initial announcement and the depth issues.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Are really going to be difficult for the Eagles.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Here. I was stunned because players generally retire three times, okay,
- 8:39Speaker 3: right after the season's over, yep, okay, right before the draft,
- 8:44Speaker 3: which teams hate. They wanted this done, like if they
- 8:47Speaker 3: know a big time Sometimes when a big time player
- 8:49Speaker 3: retires suddenly when they don't expect it or they're thinking
- 8:53Speaker 3: about it, but they don't the club thinks the guy's
- 8:55Speaker 3: not going to retire and he changed his mind. Well, yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 3: that transit, or he does it right after the draft
- 9:00Speaker 3: and they didn't address it before the draft or right
- 9:03Speaker 3: for training camps, the classic one because guys they just
- 9:04Speaker 3: don't want to go through it anymore. They're done, right,
- 9:07Speaker 3: This is crazy now now I would I'm gonna say
- 9:09Speaker 3: one thing though, that happened, and I don't know if
- 9:12Speaker 3: this had anything to do with it, but I've looked around,
- 9:15Speaker 3: but I haven't gotten. I haven't got a hard confirm
- 9:18Speaker 3: on it. No one I got. I just didn't get
- 9:21Speaker 3: it like I thought I might get it. But you know,
- 9:23Speaker 3: if you look at the snap counts, not only that,
- 9:26Speaker 3: not only did he play less than than Heli, he
- 9:30Speaker 3: didn't start. He didn't play a lot right last week.
- 9:33Speaker 3: So I don't know if that had anything to do
- 9:35Speaker 3: with it, but that was odd to me. It's odd.
- 9:40Speaker 2: It was so strange because all they've done is talk
- 9:42Speaker 2: about how well he's played, given that he wasn't with
- 9:45Speaker 2: him in OTAs, wasn't with him in training camp, got
- 9:47Speaker 2: in there, made the immediate impact, and then he played
- 9:49Speaker 2: fewer snaps and yeah, still never really got clarity on that.
- 9:54Speaker 1: You're right, Ojelari played a lot.
- 9:56Speaker 2: And maybe that's because they thought against his old team
- 9:59Speaker 2: he'd be fired up.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Who knows, but it was very interesting.
- 10:02Speaker 2: But Adam Nolan Smith, all right, this guy is still
- 10:08Speaker 2: weeks away. You know, they're they're talking about after the
- 10:10Speaker 2: buye hopefully for the Packers game.
- 10:12Speaker 1: All right, so now you got four.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Gotten that by the way, that's that's that's optimistic, right, Yes,
- 10:18Speaker 3: to be fair, that's scenario. He's already had one setback
- 10:21Speaker 3: after the surgery, so this is not good.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I actually, uh, for those who read me on Philly Voice,
- 10:27Speaker 2: I did an interview on Wednesday with a doctor.
- 10:32Speaker 1: We have a relationship with Trinity Health. We talked to
- 10:34Speaker 1: doctors about injuries.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Of course, the doctors can only speak on injuries, not
- 10:38Speaker 2: the exact player, right, they don't. But you know, I
- 10:41Speaker 2: did ask him about the history of because it happened
- 10:44Speaker 2: to Brandon Graham twice and now Smith had the repair
- 10:48Speaker 2: and now a reaggravation a strain. What does that mean
- 10:52Speaker 2: for him for this year in his future? And he
- 10:54Speaker 2: did say, if you have multiple injuries here and you
- 10:57Speaker 2: have a repair and then you follow up with a strain,
- 11:00Speaker 2: it's not like you're I think his words where it's
- 11:04Speaker 2: not yeah, kevlar, you know, you're like, you're gonna have
- 11:06Speaker 2: a little bit of a damage, good arm there, and
- 11:09Speaker 2: so he'll probably be in a brace when he comes back.
- 11:12Speaker 2: And then the the concept or the notion that he
- 11:14Speaker 2: might re enjoy it again. If he's not, if he's
- 11:17Speaker 2: taking a beating on, it could happen. I mean, it's
- 11:19Speaker 2: it's not you don't start fresh. With some injuries, you
- 11:23Speaker 2: heal up. You get a bruise, you heal up, you're fine.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Doesn't mean you're you're prone to having a bruise again.
- 11:27Speaker 2: But with tears, you heal up. And we saw Brandon Graham.
- 11:31Speaker 2: It's it's easier if you don't give it enough time,
- 11:34Speaker 2: or if you continue to have contact in that area
- 11:36Speaker 2: to reaggravate.
- 11:37Speaker 1: So you have.
- 11:38Speaker 2: To you have to hope that A they can hold
- 11:40Speaker 2: the fort down here until Nolan Smith gets back, and
- 11:43Speaker 2: then b when he does get back, he's impactful with
- 11:46Speaker 2: the brace on, and that he doesn't have any other aggravations.
- 11:50Speaker 3: It's a very tough deal. It's you just don't know,
- 11:57Speaker 3: and aggravating a previous injury is a to deal. You
- 12:00Speaker 3: just don't know what to expect right and it's they're
- 12:03Speaker 3: in a dire straits right now. Just to be clear
- 12:05Speaker 3: and what we'll talk more about the trade deadline. It's
- 12:07Speaker 3: not till the fourth. We know some teams may trade soon.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Eagles are looking for edge help. Okay, so so is
- 12:14Speaker 3: like twenty teams. Yeah, just looking into this, like there's
- 12:17Speaker 3: so many teams on edge rushers. It's just I always say,
- 12:23Speaker 3: is if if everybody watching those you and I know
- 12:26Speaker 3: that they need edge rush help in a big way,
- 12:28Speaker 3: the corners way bigger opposite Mitchell, like, that's that's the
- 12:31Speaker 3: Mount rushmorev needs of the Eagles. That second is edge
- 12:36Speaker 3: It's one of the most popular positions in in the
- 12:38Speaker 3: National Footballague. So yeah, it's just just be careful getting
- 12:42Speaker 3: your hopes up to all. I'm not saying they're not
- 12:43Speaker 3: going to get somebody. Just just just we'll see. I
- 12:48Speaker 3: try not to I try it because people like to
- 12:50Speaker 3: quote us. You said they were gonna I'm not doing that.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I'm just saying that just relax a little bit. Well
- 12:58Speaker 3: if we if we hear stuff about who it might be,
- 13:00Speaker 3: Like people mentioned Bradley Chubb. That's the most obvious one,
- 13:03Speaker 3: by the way. It's a great guy, high character, thirty
- 13:06Speaker 3: years old, good player, he's doing well for the Dolphins.
- 13:08Speaker 3: He's healthy, he's in the back nine of his career.
- 13:10Speaker 3: He's a good guy to acquire. But the thing is,
- 13:13Speaker 3: because everybody knows who needs an che rush. There can
- 13:15Speaker 3: be a lot of teams in on him.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Yep.
- 13:17Speaker 3: So if hegals don't get him, don't be so heartbroken.
- 13:20Speaker 3: How he knows what he's doing. The guy, why is
- 13:22Speaker 3: he the best GM? We We've had our criticisms of
- 13:24Speaker 3: him when it's been warranted because he gets it. He's
- 13:27Speaker 3: not gonna he's not gonna put his head and say, oh,
- 13:29Speaker 3: we're good with these guys are Antoine Powellriland's never playing
- 13:32Speaker 3: in an NFL game. He knows they're not good enough,
- 13:34Speaker 3: right right, Just he's on it, trust me.
- 13:37Speaker 1: So Chubb would be good if you could get him.
- 13:39Speaker 1: For another reason that I was going to get into
- 13:41Speaker 1: with losing.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Zadarius Smith, so Zadarius Smith was not only probably their
- 13:45Speaker 2: most productive pass rush over the last three weeks, but
- 13:48Speaker 2: by far their most their biggest guy at six four,
- 13:52Speaker 2: two seventy and right now, without him, you're looking at
- 13:57Speaker 2: a two hundred and twenty six pound two hundred and
- 14:00Speaker 2: fifty three pound uh jay Alex Hunt a two hundred
- 14:04Speaker 2: and forty pound uh as he's o Jealari right and
- 14:08Speaker 2: if Patrick Johnson gets in, he's about two forty five.
- 14:11Speaker 2: So I did the average year, you're about two forty
- 14:14Speaker 2: two and a half on the edges as opposed to
- 14:17Speaker 2: last year when you had two hundred and sixty five
- 14:20Speaker 2: pound Josh Sweat two hundred and sixty five pound Brandon Graham.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Those guys were both good duel though they could play
- 14:26Speaker 2: the run.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Wedding was always good against the run. In fact, I
- 14:28Speaker 3: remember him playing their base defense occasionally when he was young,
- 14:32Speaker 3: in first couple of years. That's the way they got
- 14:33Speaker 3: him on the field. He started as actually a run defender, yep,
- 14:36Speaker 3: and he became a dual player. But and the other
- 14:39Speaker 3: thing is, let's not forget the Jene plays in the
- 14:41Speaker 3: box like Bill Hamm is an added in defender against
- 14:43Speaker 3: the run. And we've put it out with the tape.
- 14:46Speaker 3: He he gets moved sometimes and there they have run defense.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Another one of our surprises. We didn't see happening there.
- 14:54Speaker 3: We knew o Jilari be an issue. I mean, not
- 14:56Speaker 3: ojelari a moro jum against the run that was not
- 14:59Speaker 3: a s but and Carter being hurt that's obviously a problem.
- 15:04Speaker 3: But it's this run defense, man, I don't know how
- 15:07Speaker 3: much better it's going to get. This is this is
- 15:08Speaker 3: I don't think Vic knew this, you know, I don't
- 15:11Speaker 3: think the coaches knew this. But the defense now is
- 15:14Speaker 3: not carrying the offense anymore. And on your point, this
- 15:17Speaker 3: is a big week for this football team.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Yes, sure, and you know I know that Vic sort
- 15:23Speaker 2: of teased or with the Kobe back, maybe you can
- 15:26Speaker 2: play John Campbell a little bit more on the edges.
- 15:28Speaker 3: Well guess what he asked that?
- 15:30Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, he's two hundred and thirty five pounds, So
- 15:33Speaker 2: I mean, you're not getting yourself any bigger on the edges.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Like two thirty five? Was he only two thirty five?
- 15:39Speaker 1: Well that's what it is listed size.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Well, I mean maybe who knows, But the point is
- 15:43Speaker 2: he's not two seventy like they're they're used to having.
- 15:47Speaker 2: So it does feel like right now the Eagles are
- 15:49Speaker 2: trying to put it all together with a bunch of
- 15:52Speaker 2: situational pass rushers and not somebody built for to be
- 15:55Speaker 2: a three down edge rusher as Jill's still developing. So
- 15:58Speaker 2: that is obviously an issue going into the Vikings game.
- 16:02Speaker 3: And look with Ojlari, Look the first game that he started,
- 16:06Speaker 3: he looked really good. Right, In fact, the first time
- 16:10Speaker 3: he played, he looked really good. Excuse me, look really good.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Played forty percent of snaps. He went from zero to
- 16:14Speaker 3: forty percent of snaps. Understand. He was signed here to
- 16:18Speaker 3: be a situational pass rush okay, or as they call DPR,
- 16:22Speaker 3: designated pass rusher. He's on a starter, like, you can't
- 16:26Speaker 3: have this, but they only have four guys left. Patrick Johnson, Okay,
- 16:31Speaker 3: who's really if you have your brothers is only playing
- 16:34Speaker 3: the special teams. But they have who they have. He's
- 16:36Speaker 3: got to play at a great train of camp. But
- 16:39Speaker 3: we've seen this before from him, and he's just not
- 16:40Speaker 3: a great pass rusher. Okay, he's the fourth right now.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Oh is He's explosive, but he's smaller. Okay, that's a problem.
- 16:51Speaker 3: He's smaller, and you look at the Oja Lari is
- 16:55Speaker 3: having to start. I mean, that's just not what you want.
- 16:58Speaker 3: But I mean, hopefully for the Eagle's sake, they've they
- 17:01Speaker 3: make moves next week. The other thing I mentioned this
- 17:03Speaker 3: on Monday, they the only player they worked They actually
- 17:06Speaker 3: worked two players out, the kid Titus Leo who they signed,
- 17:08Speaker 3: will get to him in a minute, and they worked
- 17:10Speaker 3: out Drake Jackson, who signed with the former second rounder
- 17:13Speaker 3: who was pretty much injured his whole career with the Niners.
- 17:15Speaker 3: He signed with the Commandos, so acknowledging again, well he
- 17:20Speaker 3: should they should look at him anyway. Why wouldn't know
- 17:22Speaker 3: he's out there? He was on a workout tour. But
- 17:24Speaker 3: bottom line is, man, their paper fin at a bunch
- 17:26Speaker 3: of positions and it's it's going to be harder and
- 17:29Speaker 3: harder for them to hold this up. They're good. How
- 17:31Speaker 3: he's again got to do something soon? Right? All right?
- 17:35Speaker 2: The practice squad moves you were referring to, they release
- 17:38Speaker 2: running back Audric Estime.
- 17:40Speaker 1: We hardly knew.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Ye never really had an opportunity. Uh, wide receiver Javon Baker.
- 17:45Speaker 1: He was with the Patriots, right, and then they brought
- 17:47Speaker 1: him in was at.
- 17:48Speaker 3: The Yeah he's a fourth rounder, right, I believe without
- 17:51Speaker 3: looking at South Florida.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I believe you're right on that. Yep.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Yeah, he can run good size. But they they, the Patriots,
- 17:58Speaker 3: I know for fact, did not want him. It's kind
- 18:00Speaker 3: of weird. They they they kind of like realized they
- 18:06Speaker 3: they've been trying to trade Kyle Duggar. After they did,
- 18:11Speaker 3: It's crazy. They extended his contract and then decided that
- 18:13Speaker 3: we don't like him anymore. So they're trying to trade him.
- 18:15Speaker 1: You know, every time a new regime comes in. You
- 18:17Speaker 1: see that, you see that.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Okay, no, no, but but Elliott Wolf it was his
- 18:21Speaker 3: decision that he was there last year. They extended him
- 18:23Speaker 3: in April of twenty twenty four.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess I'm saying with Rabel. Rabel may not
- 18:27Speaker 1: have liked it. Maybe not.
- 18:28Speaker 3: Yeah, but I don't know. It's just weird. And Baker
- 18:31Speaker 3: the stat they didn't like him at all for I understand,
- 18:33Speaker 3: and you mentioned estimate. Yeah, I mean, now on the
- 18:37Speaker 3: Eagles sixty nine man roster, uh, they they have four
- 18:42Speaker 3: running backs and they're all in the fifty three. They
- 18:43Speaker 3: don't have one in the practic card, which is fine.
- 18:45Speaker 3: You The number we were given is teams need to
- 18:47Speaker 3: have you need to have four, right, four running backs,
- 18:50Speaker 3: So they have four, yep, So they're fine there. They
- 18:53Speaker 3: don't need anyone else. So good because if you look
- 18:55Speaker 3: at the practically, oh my god, they don't have any
- 18:56Speaker 3: running backs. It's okay, they have four in their fifty
- 18:58Speaker 3: three bigsby binggs. But yes, that guy, yeah, he's there,
- 19:02Speaker 3: four all.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Right, And of course Eli Rix they once again this
- 19:05Speaker 2: is still I wouldn't be surprised if Rix was back
- 19:08Speaker 2: in a week or two.
- 19:08Speaker 1: They're doing roster They've been doing roster tango, practice squad
- 19:11Speaker 1: roster tango with Rix for quite a bit. And then
- 19:14Speaker 1: they signed two guys and three. Sorry, we had a
- 19:17Speaker 1: little bit of a joke. One's a tight end Jahem Bell.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Now he was with the Dolphins. I thought he was.
- 19:22Speaker 1: He was with a team before that.
- 19:24Speaker 3: All was drafted in the seventh round last year and cut.
- 19:28Speaker 3: He's a former receiver in high school. He's undered. He's
- 19:33Speaker 3: he's a slightly bigger weight wise than Grants, and I
- 19:36Speaker 3: think he's he's sort of built like an h back
- 19:38Speaker 3: six two to forty ish. Then not Leo Titus Titus
- 19:45Speaker 3: Leo to Matt Leo. No, No, Titus Leo played for
- 19:50Speaker 3: that football powerhouse, Wagner.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Wagner in Staten Island.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, man, yeah, I think he's actually from Stanton.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I just Alan knew this guy. Stout had to know
- 20:00Speaker 2: this guy. He knew maybe he knew somewhere.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Not Leo Titus. Yeah, he worked out from Tuesday. They
- 20:06Speaker 3: signed him. Good for him, Uh, developmental. He was a
- 20:08Speaker 3: six round pick. I believe the Colts so you know,
- 20:12Speaker 3: they'll they'll take a look at him, and he's back.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Tariq Castro Fields from your school, Penn State. Uh so
- 20:18Speaker 3: he's back on the practice squad. So yeah, he boy,
- 20:21Speaker 3: Craster Fields is man. They like, he's got good size,
- 20:23Speaker 3: but it wouldn't be funn if he actually played this week.
- 20:26Speaker 3: It'd be funny.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I don't know if it would be funny for Eagles fans,
- 20:30Speaker 1: I mean.
- 20:31Speaker 3: But yeah, yeah, I got it all right.
- 20:33Speaker 2: So that's a look at the transactions. Let's get into
- 20:36Speaker 2: the injuries, because this is good news for the Eagles.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Before we get into injuries, a word from our great sponsors. Hey,
- 20:43Speaker 2: you know that one guy in the group chat who
- 20:45Speaker 2: hit a five leg parlay week one and he wouldn't
- 20:48Speaker 2: shut up about it for the rest of the season.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Sounds like kaplan, right, Yeah, yeah, it could be him.
- 20:53Speaker 2: It could be you, and we would all want to
- 20:57Speaker 2: be you.

- 22:51Speaker 2: code Birds for a risk free first stake. It was
- 22:56Speaker 2: no doubt a great sign for the Eagles fans as
- 22:59Speaker 2: reports were out there observing that Landon Dickerson, Quinna Mitchell,
- 23:04Speaker 2: and Jalen Carter. We're all out there on the practice field.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Now the reporters only get to watch it for a
- 23:10Speaker 2: little bit, but then the injury report comes out and
- 23:12Speaker 2: you find out Dickerson.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Limited, Quinya, Mitchell limited. But Carter, this is big to me.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Carter full and Andrew de Checko our own Andrew to
- 23:20Speaker 2: check over inside the Birds dot Com caught up with
- 23:23Speaker 2: Joe and Carter and has some quoted as saying he's
- 23:25Speaker 2: gonna play Sunday against the Viking.
- 23:27Speaker 1: So very big right there.
- 23:29Speaker 3: That's huge. It's absolutely huge that Carter says he's playing. Now,
- 23:34Speaker 3: I know it's not his call. I mean, he's got
- 23:36Speaker 3: to get cleared medically, but the fact that he took
- 23:38Speaker 3: starters reps almost all of them on Wednesday. That's huge,
- 23:41Speaker 3: which means Unlessie has a setback, he's playing. But that's
- 23:46Speaker 3: something would have to happen. I unfortate. I've seen this before.
- 23:49Speaker 3: The guy works full of feeling good, something happens overnight,
- 23:53Speaker 3: we're too sore, and they knack off Thursday. Like, if
- 23:56Speaker 3: he's limited Thursday, I'm gonna be a little bit concerned. Now,
- 23:59Speaker 3: I will so tell you. Sometimes clubs this is their plan.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Let's see how you're doing Wednesday, let's back off Thursday.
- 24:06Speaker 3: But more often than not, it is a concern. If
- 24:08Speaker 3: he's limited Thursday today, which is today, we'll see what happens.
- 24:10Speaker 3: And Jordan Davis says, this is new. He's added with
- 24:13Speaker 3: his shoulder injury, but he took all the rep he
- 24:14Speaker 3: took all his normal reps. Zach Boughd has a new injury.
- 24:17Speaker 3: It's a finger injury. He took all his reps. He's
- 24:19Speaker 3: ready to go Quinna now, now just be careful on Wednesday.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I'm very happy that he You should be eagle fans
- 24:27Speaker 3: should be happy. And for fantasy, like if you're if
- 24:30Speaker 3: you're if your player who had a hamstering injury on
- 24:34Speaker 3: Sunday is out there Wednesday. Even if he's very limited,
- 24:37Speaker 3: it tells you, hey, it's not going to be a
- 24:39Speaker 3: long term injury. It's short term, and there was a
- 24:41Speaker 3: chance he plays. The fact that he's out there gives
- 24:44Speaker 3: you some hope. Now it's a hamstering injury. Couldn't come
- 24:46Speaker 3: back last week. He's going to have to have a
- 24:49Speaker 3: full practice by Friday. The chances I'm playing are next
- 24:51Speaker 3: to none. If he doesn't have a full practice, it's
- 24:54Speaker 3: it almost is like one hundred percent if he doesn't
- 24:55Speaker 3: have a full practice. With players who don't practice fully
- 24:58Speaker 3: with a hamster injury, they just don't play right. You
- 25:00Speaker 3: have to see him open it up in practice, not
- 25:02Speaker 3: in a walk through on a Saturday in this case.
- 25:04Speaker 3: But hey, there's hope. At least he worked, so there's
- 25:06Speaker 3: some hope.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:07Speaker 2: And by the way, good point about that, this was
- 25:10Speaker 2: definitely a practice on Wednesday.
- 25:13Speaker 1: It was not an estimation from a walkthrough.
- 25:16Speaker 2: They were out on the practice field doing their thing,
- 25:19Speaker 2: so that's always good. Greg Calcaterras field dealing with the oblique.
- 25:21Speaker 2: He was the only one that did not practice.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I agree.
- 25:25Speaker 2: I think, you know, first of all, going back to
- 25:28Speaker 2: Carter very, I think it's a really good sign that
- 25:30Speaker 2: he was able to practice full on Wednesday, as opposed
- 25:33Speaker 2: to with a.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Heel like that.
- 25:34Speaker 2: I thought I suspected he would start off limited and
- 25:37Speaker 2: then you get the test the next day to see
- 25:39Speaker 2: how that work, how your injury responded. But the fact
- 25:43Speaker 2: that he went straight to full is pretty good. Now
- 25:45Speaker 2: they still have to see the response today, and like
- 25:47Speaker 2: you said, there could be a setback, but showed that
- 25:50Speaker 2: he's been feeling pretty good over the last few days
- 25:53Speaker 2: in whatever he's been doing to get out on the
- 25:56Speaker 2: field and be able to fully practice.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Yes, and I've metioned this before on Michigan MC shannon
- 26:00Speaker 3: hand did such a phenomenal job. This is because for
- 26:02Speaker 3: those of us who played fantasy, they used to say
- 26:05Speaker 3: Shanahan would play with the injury report, but and they
- 26:09Speaker 3: actually got nailed for it. They got they got fined
- 26:12Speaker 3: many years ago when he was with Denver. But what
- 26:15Speaker 3: Mike said was, look when he would deal with the
- 26:17Speaker 3: media and he he he was actually pretty good with
- 26:18Speaker 3: the stuff. But then when he'd say, hey, yeah, I
- 26:21Speaker 3: think this guy will plan, he wouldn't play. You gotta
- 26:24Speaker 3: understand if the guy's a setback, it's not my fault.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Right.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I'm just saying, as of now, I leieve he'll play,
- 26:29Speaker 3: but if the guy's a setback, it's not his fault
- 26:31Speaker 3: if he has one. If he has a setback, So
- 26:33Speaker 3: you gotta be careful with that.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Right right. So that's that's a pretty good look right
- 26:37Speaker 1: there for the Eagles.
- 26:38Speaker 2: I mean, we've got we'll we'll get we'll cover it
- 26:41Speaker 2: more on the inside the Birds pregame show, which will
- 26:44Speaker 2: come out Saturday morning, six.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Six am, get ready, right and early.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Man and I then we'll know how the rest of
- 26:52Speaker 2: the week shaped up for Landon Dickerson and Quinnon Mitchell,
- 26:57Speaker 2: and then we'll be able to really fully see if
- 26:58Speaker 2: the Eagles are gonna be a close to full strength
- 27:01Speaker 2: as they possibly can. And I think you would feel
- 27:03Speaker 2: a lot better if Dickerson and Mitchell were practicing in
- 27:06Speaker 2: full by Friday and.
- 27:08Speaker 1: Their availability would be there for the game.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Let's switch gears here and talk about a Minnesota Vikings
- 27:14Speaker 2: team that has been battling injuries all year long, but
- 27:18Speaker 2: they're getting a little healthier at some really important positions
- 27:22Speaker 2: offensive line, quarterback, few on defense.
- 27:26Speaker 1: Let's go through that, Adam.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I mean, obviously, the big one for them is JJ McCarthy,
- 27:31Speaker 2: who was limited in practice. You know he's trying to
- 27:34Speaker 2: work his way back. He is he in the window
- 27:36Speaker 2: or did he never go on ir fis.
- 27:38Speaker 3: He never went on IRAQ was like he had a
- 27:41Speaker 3: mild high ankle sprain, as I understand it. So, okay,
- 27:46Speaker 3: here's the thing, and we'll look at the practice reports
- 27:50Speaker 3: as the week progresses. Unless he takes a majority of
- 27:53Speaker 3: the one team, he's not gonna You're not doing that
- 27:55Speaker 3: a young player, who right, You just don't. You don't,
- 27:59Speaker 3: You don't. Don't give the guy deference if he's not
- 28:04Speaker 3: a veteran, you just don't. I just know how coaches
- 28:06Speaker 3: think he is their future quarterback. They love him. I
- 28:10Speaker 3: know he didn't play well before he got hurt, but
- 28:15Speaker 3: he's a guy that looked great in training camp, his
- 28:18Speaker 3: final two weeks of training camp. I was told last
- 28:20Speaker 3: before he tourist Petella, plus the Raider game where he
- 28:24Speaker 3: got hurt, he was phenomenal. See, people forget about that stuff.
- 28:27Speaker 3: They look at what training camp uneven this year and
- 28:30Speaker 3: he missed obviously all of last year, never played in
- 28:31Speaker 3: the regular season. But he's got talent. Now. Kevin O'Connell's
- 28:35Speaker 3: done a phenomenal job with this kid. You and I know,
- 28:37Speaker 3: team's a game of three. They don't like a lot
- 28:39Speaker 3: of two. Didn't like him, yep, but we'll see. But
- 28:42Speaker 3: Wentz looked phenomenal against Cleveland, up and down against Pittsburgh.
- 28:46Speaker 3: First game he played was a Cincinnati. He didn't have
- 28:49Speaker 3: to do anything. They were I think they won ten. Yeah,
- 28:53Speaker 3: but we'll see what happens this week.
- 28:56Speaker 2: I mean, I think you and I have seen this
- 28:58Speaker 2: enough to know and like, if you have a veteran
- 29:02Speaker 2: back of black Carson who's a full participant on Wednesday,
- 29:05Speaker 2: he was dealing with the shoulder full a young shoulder,
- 29:08Speaker 2: left shoulder, right, and you have a young kid like
- 29:11Speaker 2: McCarthy who's just in his first year as a starter
- 29:13Speaker 2: and he's limited Wednesday, it almost already arrow points to
- 29:18Speaker 2: Carson Wentz. There would have to be you would have
- 29:20Speaker 2: to see McCarthy tape, in my opinion to give it
- 29:24Speaker 2: just I'm reporting opinion here right. McCarthy is not by
- 29:29Speaker 2: by Thursday. I mean, at least a full participant in practice.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I can't imagine he's gonna go out there and play.
- 29:35Speaker 2: I mean, this guy's got to have practices.
- 29:37Speaker 3: I don't know a time where the backup took the
- 29:41Speaker 3: majority of the reps and the the the the rook
- 29:46Speaker 3: you know, the first form or first of the first
- 29:48Speaker 3: round pick. Oh, they love him, gets limited reps and
- 29:51Speaker 3: he starts. It just doesn't happen like it's not smart football.
- 29:54Speaker 3: So I'd be stunned if that happened. But you gotta
- 29:57Speaker 3: see what happens today, which is Thursday. Let's say he
- 30:00Speaker 3: racts to that. But the good Now, their offensive line
- 30:04Speaker 3: has been incredibly banged up. As I go through their
- 30:08Speaker 3: injury report.
- 30:11Speaker 2: So I know Brian O'Neill was a was a big
- 30:13Speaker 2: injury for them, right, he was limited on Wednesday.
- 30:15Speaker 3: Yeah, and okay, so let me go through their offensive
- 30:18Speaker 3: line because they got all sorts of problems. So Donovan Jackson,
- 30:20Speaker 3: their outstanding rookie, the first round pick out of Ohio State,
- 30:23Speaker 3: he's a risk injury. He missed their last game. He
- 30:26Speaker 3: needs to get fully cleared, yet he has not. Brian
- 30:29Speaker 3: O'Neill has a knee injury. He got hurt before the buye.
- 30:32Speaker 3: He's got to get through. But he's practicing that. That's good.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Yep.
- 30:36Speaker 3: Blake Cashman, who's one of their inside backers, he's going
- 30:39Speaker 3: to play. Barn a setback, he's a hamstering. They feel
- 30:41Speaker 3: like he's gonna be able to play. Michael Jurgens, who
- 30:44Speaker 3: is backing up Ryan Kelly. Ryan Kelly's on iri HA
- 30:46Speaker 3: two concussions this year. Unfortunately, he's an I are Michael Jurgens,
- 30:49Speaker 3: his backup didn't play the last game. Jurgens. Uh. Barring
- 30:54Speaker 3: something unforeseen, he's going to play.
- 30:56Speaker 2: There's no relation to Cam there, right, he's a center
- 30:58Speaker 2: as well, right.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Is Michael Jurgens. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
- 31:03Speaker 3: But the big one on defense is Andrew van a
- 31:06Speaker 3: v k avg excuse me, Andrew Van Ginkle, with a
- 31:09Speaker 3: neck injury. Started working this week. They got to see
- 31:12Speaker 3: him get through it. Yeah, that's where that so their
- 31:15Speaker 3: offensive that as you said, you're right, it's a good
- 31:18Speaker 3: thing that some of these guys are working, but they
- 31:19Speaker 3: still don't know yet. They got to get through practice
- 31:21Speaker 3: this week.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Yeah, But no relation between Michael Jurgens and Cam Jurgens
- 31:24Speaker 2: despite having the same last name and playing the same position.
- 31:28Speaker 3: He didn't go to Nebraska, didn't no, no wake forest.
- 31:31Speaker 2: But you're right, some these are not definites like Van
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yinkle and Donovan Jackson. But the fact that they were
- 31:39Speaker 2: out at the practice field on Wednesday and able to
- 31:41Speaker 2: do something gives them sort of the arrow pointing in
- 31:44Speaker 2: the right direction. Correct, And I think the Vikings are
- 31:47Speaker 2: a completely I don't want to say completely different, but
- 31:49Speaker 2: they're so much better of a team if Jackson, O'Neil
- 31:53Speaker 2: and Van Yinkle play as I mean, they're already better,
- 31:56Speaker 2: but yeah, they're almost a completely that's a good offensive
- 31:59Speaker 2: line when it's healthy.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Their big issue for them will get more into this
- 32:02Speaker 3: in the pregame shows. They're not very good at corner.
- 32:04Speaker 3: I know that Isaiah Rodgers has played well. He's made
- 32:06Speaker 3: a big lot of big splash plays. Yeah, he's a
- 32:08Speaker 3: feisty guy. The great for the Eagles in his role.
- 32:11Speaker 3: It took a nice job. But they have a beatable secondary.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Doesn't mean the Eagles will beat them. But I'm just
- 32:16Speaker 3: telling you that that the word around the league is
- 32:18Speaker 3: Greg actually co sell back this up. He watches more
- 32:21Speaker 3: tape than when we know. Greg does not disagree with that.
- 32:23Speaker 3: He he feels like that's the secondary you can get.
- 32:27Speaker 3: But you gotta get him. You got to protect right
- 32:29Speaker 3: only that you gotta be able to run the ball.
- 32:31Speaker 3: We'll get into that in the pregame show. Let me
- 32:35Speaker 3: ask this question before you get out of here, and
- 32:37Speaker 3: you talked about it, you know, we talked about to
- 32:40Speaker 3: start the show like kind of where they're at here
- 32:41Speaker 3: and your crossroads game. It's a great way to say it.
- 32:43Speaker 3: And you know where I'm at. I just said, I'm
- 32:45Speaker 3: almost to the point where this is looking a little
- 32:47Speaker 3: bit like twenty three. Where are you at with this
- 32:50Speaker 3: football team right now? I mean they are foreign too,
- 32:52Speaker 3: but what are you are? They? Are they systematic symptomatics?
- 32:56Speaker 3: He's made the rest of the league. Well, no one's
- 32:58Speaker 3: really good.
- 32:59Speaker 1: I mean I'm caught.
- 33:00Speaker 2: I'm sure I'm like a lot of people where I'm
- 33:02Speaker 2: caught in between.
- 33:04Speaker 1: There's too much talent on this team.
- 33:08Speaker 2: To be doing as poorly as they're doing, especially on
- 33:12Speaker 2: offense where everybody came back except for one player. However,
- 33:16Speaker 2: there are some unavoidable issues with the offensive line, and
- 33:21Speaker 2: it's overall health and strength that complicate the talent that
- 33:27Speaker 2: they have, because, as we know, everything starts for the
- 33:30Speaker 2: Eagles with their offensive line and run game. And it's
- 33:34Speaker 2: not like we have a small sample. Now we have
- 33:36Speaker 2: a third of the season in which they just have
- 33:39Speaker 2: not been able to forget run the ball explosively. They
- 33:42Speaker 2: haven't been able to run the ball effectively. And you know,
- 33:46Speaker 2: if you look at their rankings on first down, at
- 33:48Speaker 2: them yards per game on first down, they're twenty eighth
- 33:51Speaker 2: yards per play, twenty ninth EPA per play on first down,
- 33:55Speaker 2: twenty second EPA per rush, twentieth. Past percentage on first
- 34:00Speaker 2: down is forty five percent. Last year was thirty seven.
- 34:04Speaker 2: So they for a thoser saying they run the ball
- 34:06Speaker 2: on first down too much, not anymore. It felt like
- 34:08Speaker 2: their way in the first two weeks, but they have
- 34:10Speaker 2: come out throwing because of their run game issues, and
- 34:13Speaker 2: that hasn't worked for them either. So I see a
- 34:15Speaker 2: team that's stuck in a rut right now, trying to
- 34:18Speaker 2: find its identity. And we all expect that it'll come
- 34:21Speaker 2: because of the talent they have, But if that offensive
- 34:24Speaker 2: line doesn't get better, I think it's going to be
- 34:27Speaker 2: more of a struggle than we think.
- 34:31Speaker 3: I didn't listen. I've asked you this, I've asked Andrew this.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't have offensive line being a problem on
- 34:37Speaker 1: my egos, So.
- 34:39Speaker 3: I didn't And that's that's the point when I went
- 34:42Speaker 3: to train and camp, what do we miss? Like? What look?
- 34:46Speaker 3: I saw him as eleven or twelve one team, They
- 34:47Speaker 3: still are probably going to be in that frame. Yeah,
- 34:50Speaker 3: and how you get there to that record? I just
- 34:52Speaker 3: didn't see well, I just didn't see it. I just
- 34:55Speaker 3: did miss blocking. By the way, past pro has actually
- 34:58Speaker 3: been mostly pretty good. It'tually block atrocious.
- 35:00Speaker 1: We didn't.
- 35:01Speaker 2: I would say we didn't miss that much because we
- 35:04Speaker 2: did say we did talk about tooth struggles a camp,
- 35:07Speaker 2: whether it was at center snapping or even at left guard,
- 35:10Speaker 2: you could see that that was an issue.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Jurgens was hard to tell. He was in and out.
- 35:15Speaker 1: He had maintenance days.
- 35:16Speaker 2: I mean, you're not gonna It's really hard at training
- 35:18Speaker 2: camp to watch plays and see if his fluidity and
- 35:21Speaker 2: his angle blocking is there.
- 35:24Speaker 1: I'm really baffled by my lot. I missing some blocks lately.
- 35:27Speaker 2: That's not but he was dealing now that I think
- 35:30Speaker 2: about it, he was dealing with something a camp, something
- 35:33Speaker 2: in the.
- 35:33Speaker 1: Mid section area. We were grabbed.
- 35:35Speaker 2: He obviously played through and he's not been on the
- 35:37Speaker 2: injury report, but those of us were there every day
- 35:39Speaker 2: saw every once in a while he looked like something
- 35:42Speaker 2: wasn't right.
- 35:42Speaker 1: But I don't even think that's the issue. I just
- 35:44Speaker 1: it's just not that play.
- 35:47Speaker 2: The way is and maybe at some point we should
- 35:49Speaker 2: expect that Lane Johnson's gonna look more like just an
- 35:51Speaker 2: above average tackle instead of a Hall of fame one.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Hey, fall is planting season.

- 38:16Speaker 2: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans twenty
- 38:19Speaker 2: one and up.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Let me add one more thing to that. This this
- 38:23Speaker 3: idea that Barclay is not playing well is just not true.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I don't know what he could do.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, is he as good just on his
- 38:34Speaker 3: own as he was lest you're probably not. Probably no.
- 38:37Speaker 3: But he was one of the best running backs in
- 38:38Speaker 3: NFL history last season. Okay, yeah, it was incredible. The
- 38:42Speaker 3: line was incredible. Okay, one of the best performance we've
- 38:44Speaker 3: ever seen by an offensive line. But he's having to
- 38:48Speaker 3: make you. I think you actually pointed this out one
- 38:50Speaker 3: of the weeks and it was right on because it
- 38:54Speaker 3: just happened the first two runs that he had, which
- 38:57Speaker 3: were explosive runs. Yep, we're not blocked the right way
- 39:01Speaker 3: that they should have been blocked, correct, and he this
- 39:05Speaker 3: is just hard to understand and hard to believe. But
- 39:08Speaker 3: you can't predict guys to regress like this. Now. When
- 39:10Speaker 3: I say that, it doesn't mean that they're gonna start
- 39:12Speaker 3: feeling better physically. There's clearly something wrong physically with a
- 39:15Speaker 3: bunch of these guys or not there's something off with them, right,
- 39:19Speaker 3: there's just it's just a and I know Jordan my
- 39:22Speaker 3: Lot has talked about this on a show on w IP.
- 39:25Speaker 3: There seems to be a blocked they're just a little
- 39:28Speaker 3: bit hair off, yep, And that's actually real. But why
- 39:32Speaker 3: but why is it happening every week?
- 39:35Speaker 2: It's a great question, and you know that I would
- 39:37Speaker 2: really I only I want to see Saquan break one now,
- 39:41Speaker 2: not only you know, to see like to verify what
- 39:44Speaker 2: we think is real about this team, but also I
- 39:46Speaker 2: want to get some next gen stats on what his
- 39:49Speaker 2: fastest mph that he can reach. But unfortunately, you're not
- 39:52Speaker 2: going to get one on a six yard run or
- 39:54Speaker 2: even in the eleven yard run where he has to
- 39:56Speaker 2: make the jump cut by himself, because you know that
- 39:59Speaker 2: there might be some telltale information there. But The only
- 40:01Speaker 2: analytics that really tell a story right now on Saquon
- 40:04Speaker 2: are the fact that he has hit and contacted far
- 40:08Speaker 2: sooner after the handoff than he was last year.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I mean, he was among he was the.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Leader in yards before contact last year, and now he's
- 40:17Speaker 2: among the worst.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I mean he's getting hit almost immediately.
- 40:20Speaker 3: I mean when you're when you when you go from
- 40:23Speaker 3: three point nine was the number and now he's he
- 40:26Speaker 3: wasn't last Look, he was at one seven mm hmm.
- 40:29Speaker 3: That just Folks don't understand how bit that's like. It's
- 40:34Speaker 3: like going from let's say a great receiver average eighteen
- 40:38Speaker 3: yards than the next season average ten and he's healthy,
- 40:40Speaker 3: there's nothing wrong with him. What the hell's going on here?
- 40:43Speaker 3: They can't get the ball down field, you know whatever
- 40:45Speaker 3: for whatever, you could pick any receiver that struggled like that. Yep,
- 40:48Speaker 3: it's because it's the quarterback or the offensive whatever the case.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Maybe this it's the offensive line. It's just there's no
- 40:53Speaker 3: way we would have anyone would have known. There's no reporter,
- 40:56Speaker 3: what the practice would know this?
- 40:57Speaker 2: This is crazy, right we really yeah, you don't know
- 41:00Speaker 2: until we always say that too with line play, you
- 41:03Speaker 2: don't know until some preseason games, but then really when
- 41:06Speaker 2: you get into it in September, when they're in uniform,
- 41:09Speaker 2: when they're in pads all every single day, you know,
- 41:12Speaker 2: every game.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Obviously, and really going through it, well
- 41:15Speaker 2: That is the big question, and we will get more answers,
- 41:18Speaker 2: I'm sure on Sunday that's going to do it for
- 41:21Speaker 2: this episode of Inside the Birds, the Leading Podcast and
- 41:24Speaker 2: the Eagles Intel, and as always, we thank you for
- 41:27Speaker 2: flying with us Inside the Birds
