- 1:40Speaker 2: to a celebrity in their dressing room, a famous actor.

- 1:47Speaker 2: More on that, plus a conversation ahead on with the
- 1:50Speaker 2: Krack and can face with the Rangers. Alex Faust joining us.

- 2:00Speaker 2: of the conversation we had in the latest Cracking Weekly.
- 2:03Speaker 2: This is going to be a special not as well
- 2:05Speaker 2: as far as with the Crack and are going to
- 2:07Speaker 2: be wearing their brand new third alternate jerseys will be
- 2:11Speaker 2: game ready for the first time in franchise history, a
- 2:14Speaker 2: tremendous spectacle of black, red, and bioluminescent undertones. The crack
- 2:19Speaker 2: and will wear these again ten more times this season,
- 2:22Speaker 2: including November fifth, the twenty sixth, two times in December,
- 2:27Speaker 2: three times in January, twice in April, and wrapping up
- 2:31Speaker 2: their last game in the jerseys on April ninth. Here's
- 2:34Speaker 2: reaction we got from Cracking captain Jordan Everley on wearing
- 2:39Speaker 2: the new jerseys.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I think, obviously throw it under black light. I think
- 2:42Speaker 4: the big hit is probably that it glows a bit.
- 2:44Speaker 4: But I mean it's just it's different than what we've worn.
- 2:47Speaker 4: I like how, you know, the darkness of the black.
- 2:50Speaker 4: I think it makes us look a little bigger, and
- 2:52Speaker 4: you know, hopefully, uh you know, I mean, ultimately just
- 2:55Speaker 4: comes down to the record and hopefully it's good.
- 2:57Speaker 2: As they often say, look good, feel good, good, play good.
- 3:00Speaker 2: That also applies to goaltender Joey to Cord, who mentioned
- 3:03Speaker 2: the benefits of the new alternate jersey, including brand new
- 3:07Speaker 2: matching equipment for his mask and pads top to bottom.
- 3:11Speaker 5: That's sick.
- 3:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm a huge fan for more than one reason,
- 3:15Speaker 6: and the biggest reason being it's it's nasty, like, it
- 3:17Speaker 6: looks unreal. Second reason being as a goalie. Now I
- 3:20Speaker 6: get to design gear for it and a mask and
- 3:23Speaker 6: pads and et cetera. It sticks, So I'm juiced. I
- 3:26Speaker 6: can't wait for everyone to see. I mean, I put
- 3:28Speaker 6: out my mask already, so that got some positive reaction,
- 3:31Speaker 6: but I can't wait for the rest of the gear
- 3:33Speaker 6: to come out for everyone to see.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Take me through the mask, the design, and what kind
- 3:37Speaker 2: of concept that that you wanted to conceive from the
- 3:40Speaker 2: get go.
- 3:41Speaker 6: I so I work very closely with my mass painter, Shifty.
- 3:45Speaker 6: He does an incredible job, and he and I usually
- 3:48Speaker 6: have like a sit down and we just hat what
- 3:49Speaker 6: we want to do. I mean, obviously we wanted to
- 3:51Speaker 6: do glow in the dark paint right away, and he
- 3:54Speaker 6: kind of came to me with the idea of the
- 3:56Speaker 6: eyes on the side and then some cracking logos and
- 3:59Speaker 6: I loved it. And I think I think with mass painters,
- 4:01Speaker 6: especially like their artists, so if they see a vision,
- 4:04Speaker 6: if he sees a vision and he's like it's going
- 4:06Speaker 6: to be sick, I'm like, cool, do it. You know,
- 4:08Speaker 6: I'm never like, ah, I need you to do it
- 4:11Speaker 6: black and white like this, because then usually they feel
- 4:13Speaker 6: like they're restricted into, you know, a confined boundary, and
- 4:17Speaker 6: then that's it's hard for their creativity to come out
- 4:20Speaker 6: that way. So with Masks, I usually just let him
- 4:22Speaker 6: run with it.
- 4:23Speaker 2: There's really no metric which can certainly measure how much
- 4:26Speaker 2: a team can really benefit from playing in an alternate jersey,
- 4:29Speaker 2: except for the fact that players often tell you a
- 4:31Speaker 2: brand new look will often inspire more energy, and we'll
- 4:34Speaker 2: see how much they can certainly capitalize off of that
- 4:37Speaker 2: coming up here against the Rangers, the Kraken come off
- 4:41Speaker 2: a thrilling comeback up for despite losing an overtime for
- 4:44Speaker 2: to three to Montreal back on Tuesday. Here's say what
- 4:47Speaker 2: happened with the Kraken down by three goals and running
- 4:51Speaker 2: out of time.
- 4:51Speaker 7: Katon gets it back right side up top Montor shot.
- 5:02Speaker 8: Randon Montour from the line, redirected into the net and
- 5:07Speaker 8: the Seattle Cracket on the power.
- 5:09Speaker 7: Play and on the board three to one. They cut
- 5:12Speaker 7: their deficit into two.
- 5:14Speaker 9: Well, good puck movement by anything.
- 5:15Speaker 5: The Cracket starts with catting back to Montour he puts
- 5:19Speaker 5: on hard on net. I believe it went off of
- 5:22Speaker 5: something and I think it was James Schwartz's stick.
- 5:25Speaker 7: It was either Schwartz or carry a because Carrie A
- 5:30Speaker 7: was the one.
- 5:30Speaker 8: One goes off carry a stick and.
- 5:33Speaker 7: In by Jacob Dobash. So that will be Montour's goal.
- 5:36Speaker 7: The cracket on the board down three one, who comes on?
- 5:39Speaker 8: He told it in right in on goal.
- 5:41Speaker 7: That one knocked away.
- 5:42Speaker 8: Now Shane right stood, Shane right off a fifty pass
- 5:54Speaker 8: drifting into the slot and the Seattle cracket cut the
- 5:58Speaker 8: deficit to one. It's three two Canadians lead.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Here in the third.
- 6:04Speaker 5: Where you can feel that pump pot Boilian partners they
- 6:06Speaker 5: got crack and move the pucket to the offensive end,
- 6:09Speaker 5: cycle around the back of the net, and it was
- 6:11Speaker 5: Montor feeding right in the high slot. Ran g it's
- 6:14Speaker 5: a one timer off peak Stoe bass bluff side tas
- 6:17Speaker 5: shelf is game three two.
- 6:18Speaker 7: Now track it regain possession done drifting center plane across
- 6:23Speaker 7: Monto stop.
- 6:33Speaker 8: Welcome back Brandon Monteur.
- 6:37Speaker 7: He's got two third period goals.
- 6:40Speaker 8: And the Seattle cracking tie the game at three.
- 6:44Speaker 3: One forty three left in the third.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Well Montreal I don't know why, but Montreal gives Seattle
- 6:50Speaker 5: excellent offensive zone entrance. They get control on the half
- 6:54Speaker 5: boards and Monty picks that puck up off of a
- 6:57Speaker 5: done pass and puts a bomb on net.
- 7:00Speaker 9: This game title free.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Here is for her up.
- 7:03Speaker 7: Gallagher gives it up and throws it in the middle.
- 7:05Speaker 8: Intercept it five left, Carrie a hereside, Anderson settles shoot.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Stuck down, loose puck o the doorstep. Monteur blocks the
- 7:16Speaker 7: puck and we.
- 7:17Speaker 8: Are going to overtime here in Seattle.
- 7:20Speaker 7: Coffield left circle around done, Gawfield stop by the cord.
- 7:25Speaker 7: It's in the score.
- 7:30Speaker 8: Col Cawfield does it again to Seattle.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Brandon Montour scored twice in the rally. Also Sandwich, he
- 7:37Speaker 2: can go by Shane Wright. It was only Montour's second
- 7:40Speaker 2: game back after losing his brother Cameron to an unfortunate
- 7:44Speaker 2: battle with als Montor in the process picking up his
- 7:47Speaker 2: three hundredth career National Hockey League point and the Craken
- 7:52Speaker 2: salvaging a point in both matchups against the Canadians. Well,
- 7:56Speaker 2: Ryan Lindgren is a part of the story lines here
- 7:58Speaker 2: for this evening against the Rangers. He's facing his former
- 8:00Speaker 2: team for the first time since being traded from the
- 8:03Speaker 2: Rangers to the Colorado Avalanche and then signing with the
- 8:06Speaker 2: Kraken this past offseason as a free agent. It's often
- 8:11Speaker 2: said the hockey world is a small world, and that
- 8:13Speaker 2: means to plenty of relationships that lynd Gren has on
- 8:17Speaker 2: the other side in the Rangers dressing room. He was
- 8:20Speaker 2: Adam Fox's defensive partner for a long time, and he'll
- 8:23Speaker 2: face off against Fox and other former teammates he have
- 8:27Speaker 2: of the Rangers side for the first time coming up
- 8:30Speaker 2: this evening. Here's our chat with Ryan Lindgren on his
- 8:33Speaker 2: new surroundings and the possibility of having this kind of
- 8:37Speaker 2: game circled on the calendar. What drives a defenseman to
- 8:40Speaker 2: be willing to lay down in block shots.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's just doing anything to help the team,
- 8:47Speaker 3: you know. I think coming from a family of goalies,
- 8:49Speaker 3: you know, I try to maybe help them out as
- 8:52Speaker 3: much as I can, and you know, I know they
- 8:54Speaker 3: appreciate when you when you put your body on the
- 8:56Speaker 3: line and get in front of a park. So yeah,
- 9:00Speaker 3: it's something I try to do. It doesn't always feel great,
- 9:03Speaker 3: but you know, it helps the team and that's what
- 9:05Speaker 3: you're trying to do.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Having Coppocco back in the same room once again, what
- 9:09Speaker 2: kind of energy do you see from him that makes
- 9:12Speaker 2: it feel like nearly the same guy that you had
- 9:14Speaker 2: in New York.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's great playing with him again. He was
- 9:17Speaker 3: a guy I got really close with in New York
- 9:19Speaker 3: and you know, one of my really good buddies. So
- 9:23Speaker 3: you know, it makes the transition easier for me coming
- 9:25Speaker 3: here and seeing him, and you know, just just seeing
- 9:29Speaker 3: the way he took off when he came here last
- 9:31Speaker 3: year and how good he played, you know, he you know,
- 9:34Speaker 3: he's going to be doing the same thing. So yeah,
- 9:36Speaker 3: I'm just really excited to be playing with him again.
- 9:38Speaker 2: January twelfth on the calendar, a return to Madison Square Garden.
- 9:42Speaker 2: How much are you circling that date?
- 9:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to it. You know, obviously
- 9:48Speaker 3: we got, you know, a lot of games before then,
- 9:50Speaker 3: but that's definitely one I'm excited for. And yeah, it'll
- 9:54Speaker 3: be cool playing in there again.
- 9:55Speaker 2: How do you feel that you grew as a defenseman
- 9:58Speaker 2: as compared to your rookie season.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's it all comes from confidence. I
- 10:02Speaker 3: think as you as you start in your rookie year.
- 10:06Speaker 3: You know, you're just trying to learn the game, you know, learn,
- 10:08Speaker 3: learn what you can and can't do out there and
- 10:11Speaker 3: what kind of works for you. And you know, the
- 10:13Speaker 3: more you play and the more comfortable you feel, the
- 10:15Speaker 3: more you evolve as a player. And you know, I
- 10:18Speaker 3: think I've done that over the years, and you know,
- 10:22Speaker 3: I'm obviously not not where I want to be, but
- 10:25Speaker 3: you just try to work as hard as you can
- 10:26Speaker 3: every day and become a better player.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Now, Charlie is your brother. You said before that you
- 10:31Speaker 2: two are close. How long did it take for you
- 10:34Speaker 2: to text or even to hang out after the playoff
- 10:36Speaker 2: series you two had back in twenty twenty four.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was bizarre because we talked to
- 10:41Speaker 3: each other all the time. You know, me, me, Charlie
- 10:44Speaker 3: and our other brother Andrew are really close, and so yeah,
- 10:47Speaker 3: going through that old stretch where obviously we didn't talk
- 10:50Speaker 3: to each other was was a little weird. But you know,
- 10:53Speaker 3: going through that handshake line after was was pretty surreal.
- 10:57Speaker 3: And you know, he played his butt off that series,
- 10:59Speaker 3: and so yeah, we talked right after, and you know,
- 11:03Speaker 3: he let me know that that he was rooting for us,
- 11:05Speaker 3: and you know, rooting for us to go on a
- 11:08Speaker 3: good run. So it was something special and I know
- 11:11Speaker 3: my whole family really enjoyed it.
- 11:13Speaker 2: You try the position of goalie once and you said,
- 11:16Speaker 2: at age six, that's it. I'm done seeing Charlie in
- 11:20Speaker 2: those shoes. What is it about goalies that set them apart?
- 11:23Speaker 2: But you come to appreciate.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I look at my brother. I work
- 11:28Speaker 3: out with him, I skate with him in the summer,
- 11:29Speaker 3: and you know just just how dedicated they are of
- 11:33Speaker 3: the game. And you know he does everything he can
- 11:36Speaker 3: every single day to improve his game. And you know
- 11:40Speaker 3: they got to be so flexible and so quick, and
- 11:43Speaker 3: you know he works at that every day, and you
- 11:46Speaker 3: know it's really cool for me to have a role
- 11:49Speaker 3: model like that and and just see what it takes
- 11:51Speaker 3: for him to, you know, excel in the NHL level.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Just going back to where you came from. What's one
- 11:55Speaker 2: day that you could go back and relive growing up
- 11:57Speaker 2: in Minnesota all over again.
- 11:59Speaker 10: If you could.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there's a lot of them. I think
- 12:03Speaker 3: for for me, there's something that was really special. Was
- 12:06Speaker 3: was the first time getting to see uh, well, they
- 12:08Speaker 3: both they both made it to the state tournament, but
- 12:10Speaker 3: we're getting to see Charlie for the first time. You know,
- 12:13Speaker 3: it was such a special moment for our whole family.
- 12:17Speaker 3: You know, they're kind of a Cinderella story at Lakeville
- 12:19Speaker 3: North and they got the upset over Lakeville South and
- 12:23Speaker 3: and then getting to go to the state tournament and
- 12:25Speaker 3: watched Charlie playing that for the first time. Was was
- 12:27Speaker 3: really cool.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Getting settling here to a new city and a new team.
- 12:30Speaker 2: How was unpacking time here recently versus stay back in March.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it was, uh, you know, it was really cool.
- 12:37Speaker 3: You know, he's just getting to know the area, and yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 3: it's it's been a lot of fun getting to all
- 12:42Speaker 3: the guys and so yeah, I really enjoyed.
- 12:44Speaker 2: It fishing, guy, hiking, guy, golf, guy, outdoors guy, anything.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Big time golf. Been able to play a couple of
- 12:50Speaker 3: times since I've been here, and you know, the courses
- 12:52Speaker 3: in this in this area are unbelievable. So yeah, that's
- 12:55Speaker 3: been really nice. In the weather too, has been awesome
- 12:57Speaker 3: since I've been here, so gotten to spend a lot
- 12:59Speaker 3: of time outdoors and kind of around Lake Washington. So
- 13:02Speaker 3: it's been a lot of fun.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Is a driver part of your game? The flat stick.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Any iron play your strength.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Definitely not the flat stick that kind of runs in
- 13:09Speaker 3: our family in one can Pott. But no, my irons
- 13:13Speaker 3: are usually decent. My driver can be okay, but yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 3: the flat stick is something I need to work on.
- 13:18Speaker 2: Ryan Lindgren is one part of the storyline. Coppocaco is another.
- 13:22Speaker 2: He hasn't played a game yet after suffering a broken
- 13:25Speaker 2: hand in a preseason game against the New York Rangers
- 13:28Speaker 2: back in September. That long road back could come to
- 13:31Speaker 2: an end potentially this evening, assuming he's cleared. After all,
- 13:35Speaker 2: he did skate in practice with the Kraken on Friday
- 13:38Speaker 2: in a regular jersey. He has yet to come off
- 13:40Speaker 2: ir but still Cocko potentially could be facing the team
- 13:45Speaker 2: that traded him to the Kraken in exchange for defenseman
- 13:48Speaker 2: Will Borgan this last December. Meanwhile, Borgan comes back to
- 13:52Speaker 2: Seattle for the first time since the trade, and a
- 13:55Speaker 2: warm welcome potentially could be on hand from Kracking fans
- 13:58Speaker 2: in attendance for this game. Borgan, of course, the second
- 14:02Speaker 2: overall pick for the Kracking in that historic twenty twenty
- 14:05Speaker 2: one expansion draft. He was also a part of the
- 14:08Speaker 2: roster and a big piece of a physical and rugged
- 14:11Speaker 2: effort on their blue line when they upset the Colorado
- 14:14Speaker 2: Avalanche in seven games in the first round back in
- 14:17Speaker 2: twenty twenty three. But Lynn Gren's a part of this
- 14:20Speaker 2: krack and dressing room now and they convened together at
- 14:23Speaker 2: Climate Pledg Aina earlier this week for Adam Sandler's stand
- 14:27Speaker 2: up comedy tour. So for the week of Halloween, the
- 14:29Speaker 2: Kraken showed up to Climate Pledge Arena same night as
- 14:33Speaker 2: a team, dressed up in Adam Sandler characters from his
- 14:37Speaker 2: recent movies. And of course after the tour, Sandler crashed
- 14:41Speaker 2: the party in the Kraken dressing room. And here's Matty
- 14:44Speaker 2: Beniers on who he went as, plus the experience of
- 14:48Speaker 2: meeting and acting legend Zohan.
- 14:51Speaker 3: It was awesome.
- 14:51Speaker 6: Who's a really nice guy. He took pictures of everyone
- 14:55Speaker 6: and I did a great job out there.
- 14:56Speaker 3: We had a lot of fun.
- 14:57Speaker 2: So how starstrug did the Kraken get Here's the if
- 15:00Speaker 2: it's been Vince Dunn, who said, on the contrary, meeting
- 15:03Speaker 2: Adam Sandler was a down to earth experience.
- 15:06Speaker 10: Yeah, he was a great guy. His crew is very
- 15:09Speaker 10: friendly and just as funny as they were on stage
- 15:12Speaker 10: in person, so it's cool to see that side of
- 15:14Speaker 10: them that is just their natural talent, that they're just
- 15:17Speaker 10: kind of funny people and use that to their advantage
- 15:19Speaker 10: where they're on screen.
- 15:20Speaker 2: So a team bonding outing all done in the rearview
- 15:23Speaker 2: mirror and the krack of now gearing up for the
- 15:25Speaker 2: Rangers in game three of this five game homestand to
- 15:29Speaker 2: prepare for this one, we caught up with Rangers radio
- 15:32Speaker 2: play by play voice Alex Foust and a chat we
- 15:35Speaker 2: had between ever it fits you, Al Kaniski myself as
- 15:38Speaker 2: well for the recent drop of crack and weekly.
- 15:41Speaker 11: You know, I think you can go back to some
- 15:45Speaker 11: of the injuries that they've had to deal with, which
- 15:48Speaker 11: may not seem all that significant on the surface, but
- 15:50Speaker 11: our Timmy Paneren and JT. Miller both had what I
- 15:54Speaker 11: would describe as false starts in training camp. They were
- 15:56Speaker 11: both banged up, didn't get the full camp, and I'm
- 15:59Speaker 11: firmly believe they may not have been one hundred percent
- 16:02Speaker 11: when the season got underway. And then shortly after the
- 16:05Speaker 11: season started, Vincent Trocheck went down with injury. And you're
- 16:09Speaker 11: talking about a guy who you know is one of
- 16:11Speaker 11: the top centermen in the league. The plan was to
- 16:15Speaker 11: have Mika's avantaje ad play on the wing this season
- 16:19Speaker 11: and not be a full time center like he's been
- 16:22Speaker 11: in the past. Well, that plan immediately got torn to
- 16:26Speaker 11: bits when Trocheck went down with injury. You know, the
- 16:30Speaker 11: feeling was that they wanted to get Mika up on
- 16:33Speaker 11: the fore check a little bit more on the wing,
- 16:36Speaker 11: and he's bought into a kind of a more physical
- 16:39Speaker 11: north South game. But without Trocheck in the middle, you're
- 16:42Speaker 11: talking about a guy who is grade five on five,
- 16:45Speaker 11: a point producer, is on your top power play unit,
- 16:49Speaker 11: kills penalties, never mind slots the rest of your forwards
- 16:53Speaker 11: where they should be. The knock on effect from that injury,
- 16:56Speaker 11: I think has created a lot of problems. You Know,
- 16:59Speaker 11: the first couple weeks of the season, you could look
- 17:02Speaker 11: at the Rangers record and say, well, you know, they're
- 17:05Speaker 11: losing all these games. But actually the sense was, and
- 17:08Speaker 11: I'm not just talking from a team standpoint, but from
- 17:11Speaker 11: the fans from the media covering the team, that their
- 17:13Speaker 11: process was fine. They were out playing their opposition at
- 17:19Speaker 11: five on five, they were dominating them defensively, and the
- 17:22Speaker 11: issue was they weren't getting goal scoring. Well, now their
- 17:26Speaker 11: game has slipped a little bit defensively and the goal
- 17:29Speaker 11: scoring hasn't picked up with it to try to cover
- 17:32Speaker 11: for all of that. So what you wind up with
- 17:35Speaker 11: is a team that you know, probably shouldn't have, you know,
- 17:40Speaker 11: as low a record as they have, but by virtue
- 17:43Speaker 11: of not winning games where they outplayed their opposition, they
- 17:47Speaker 11: find themselves in this early hole.
- 17:50Speaker 2: I'm sure that things weren't going to script early here
- 17:53Speaker 2: as far as what Mike Sullivan had intended off the
- 17:56Speaker 2: bat here for his brand new job going over from
- 17:58Speaker 2: the Pittsburgh Penguins as well expouse joining us right now
- 18:01Speaker 2: and crack and weekly. But what have we learned so
- 18:04Speaker 2: far with what Mike Sullivan is all about his core
- 18:07Speaker 2: values and how much more time that this team needs
- 18:10Speaker 2: to really get things locked in as far as his vision.
- 18:14Speaker 11: To be honest, I thought that there was a lot
- 18:16Speaker 11: of buy in right away and training camp. I think
- 18:18Speaker 11: this group was craving more structure, more of a set standard,
- 18:25Speaker 11: and Mike Sullivan has been adamant about that this group
- 18:29Speaker 11: needed to set a new bar as far as a
- 18:31Speaker 11: standard of play and going back to the first couple
- 18:35Speaker 11: of games, you know, they play Washington really tough and
- 18:38Speaker 11: Charlie Lingern put in a great performance. They play the
- 18:40Speaker 11: may Ple Leafs really tough and lose that one. You know,
- 18:43Speaker 11: over time, you look at some of their early results
- 18:47Speaker 11: and some of their tight losses to begin this season,
- 18:50Speaker 11: and they were playing to that standard. They were playing
- 18:54Speaker 11: what the way Mike Sullivan wanted them to play by
- 18:59Speaker 11: being responded coble, by playing hard North South. And I
- 19:04Speaker 11: think that, you know, as they've slipped a little bit
- 19:06Speaker 11: here and lost a couple of games, you're seeing Sullivin
- 19:09Speaker 11: trying to bring the group back to that standard. You know,
- 19:13Speaker 11: the Rangers made a clear investment in Sulivin as their
- 19:17Speaker 11: head coach, and you know they they feel that the
- 19:20Speaker 11: way that he runs this operation on the day to
- 19:24Speaker 11: day is absolutely what this group needs. And I think
- 19:27Speaker 11: you're seeing it that. When this team is playing at
- 19:29Speaker 11: its best, it's probably the most defensively sound you've seen
- 19:33Speaker 11: the Rangers play in a long long time. But now
- 19:37Speaker 11: it's just about okay, how can you how can you
- 19:39Speaker 11: pair that with you know, some of the creative skill
- 19:43Speaker 11: on this team and getting a little bit more finished
- 19:45Speaker 11: right now.
- 19:47Speaker 9: Sometimes when you're trying to get over that that position
- 19:50Speaker 9: of maybe not playing to where you expect a team
- 19:52Speaker 9: to play. You can look at areas of improvement when
- 19:56Speaker 9: you when you talk about training camp and the vets
- 19:59Speaker 9: and you know, maybe they did or didn't get out
- 20:01Speaker 9: of that in preseason. And then you look at, well,
- 20:04Speaker 9: who do you think when you're putting down the roster,
- 20:06Speaker 9: who do you think has the most upside? Get this
- 20:09Speaker 9: thing righted a little bit?
- 20:12Speaker 11: You know, I think they're they're looking at two guys
- 20:15Speaker 11: that you know have been off to slow starts, Will
- 20:17Speaker 11: Cooley and Alexi Lafrenier. You know, both were expected to
- 20:21Speaker 11: carry more of a higher load this year. I mean
- 20:25Speaker 11: la Frenier, you know, his body of work speaks for itself,
- 20:28Speaker 11: right and the skill is plainly obvious. But can't he
- 20:31Speaker 11: keep that up on a consistent basis? For you know,
- 20:36Speaker 11: Will Cooley, who burst onto the scene a couple of
- 20:38Speaker 11: years ago, I mean this is his third full NHL season.
- 20:43Speaker 11: I think what what's interesting with a younger player is
- 20:47Speaker 11: when you elevate him into a new role, is then
- 20:51Speaker 11: pressure starting to set in? If okay, I have to
- 20:54Speaker 11: match expectations of being in a certain place, and then
- 20:57Speaker 11: do you wind up maybe trying to do a little
- 20:59Speaker 11: bit too much much. And we see this all the
- 21:02Speaker 11: time with younger players around the league. I mean, Will
- 21:05Speaker 11: is still only twenty three years of age. It's hard to,
- 21:10Speaker 11: you know, instantly be thrust into a newer role where
- 21:14Speaker 11: you're expected to carry more of the team and not
- 21:20Speaker 11: stray from the simple game that got you there. So
- 21:24Speaker 11: right now it's about how you can, you know, get
- 21:27Speaker 11: this guy who plays a really great North South game
- 21:30Speaker 11: and stick with it.
- 21:31Speaker 9: Right So you're out, You're out on a four game
- 21:36Speaker 9: road trip West Coast. You're one game in. Does being
- 21:39Speaker 9: out on the road do you think that helps kind
- 21:42Speaker 9: of galvanize the guys a little bit, to get away
- 21:45Speaker 9: from MSG for a few days? Do you think that
- 21:47Speaker 9: helps get the team right it a little bit?
- 21:50Speaker 11: You know, I think given the way that you know
- 21:52Speaker 11: they struggled at home to begin, you know, it can't hurt.
- 21:57Speaker 11: I think we hear often in today's in al that
- 22:00Speaker 11: going on the road, regardless of which team you play on,
- 22:05Speaker 11: is actually more of a structured environment than when you're
- 22:09Speaker 11: playing home games. And we've actually seen it across the league.
- 22:12Speaker 11: I was looking up and we're taping this on a Monday,
- 22:17Speaker 11: I was looking at the league wide points percentage of
- 22:19Speaker 11: ball road teams. It's five point forty one to begin
- 22:22Speaker 11: the season, So across the league you're seeing this where
- 22:25Speaker 11: when teams get out on the road and they can
- 22:27Speaker 11: jail as a group and they can leave you know,
- 22:31Speaker 11: some of the things that you may occupy their time
- 22:34Speaker 11: when they're at home, family obligations and other things, it
- 22:39Speaker 11: actually sometimes can aid in performance. So I think that's
- 22:42Speaker 11: what the hope is for this Rangers team, is that
- 22:44Speaker 11: they can take advantage of being on their longest road
- 22:47Speaker 11: trip of the season stacked together a couple of results,
- 22:50Speaker 11: feel more confident about their game when they return home.
- 22:53Speaker 2: Alex this is going to lead to the reunion game
- 22:56Speaker 2: that we have certainly been pining for for a while.
- 22:58Speaker 2: On the Kraken side, we'll see if Coppocacka was back.
- 23:02Speaker 2: But Ryan lind Gren is here, and now Will Borgan
- 23:05Speaker 2: is back in Seattle for the first time since the
- 23:07Speaker 2: trade from this last season. I mean, he's earned playing
- 23:10Speaker 2: time up and down the defensive pair. But through ten
- 23:13Speaker 2: games so far and sixty one overall, what's the Will
- 23:17Speaker 2: Borgan experience like in New York and how he fits
- 23:20Speaker 2: in here to Mike Sullivan's plans.
- 23:23Speaker 11: Well, we're actually got a couple of reunion events here
- 23:27Speaker 11: with JT. Miller as we take this on a Monday
- 23:30Speaker 11: before the Rangers playing Vancouver on Tuesday, So that's gonna
- 23:32Speaker 11: be a big one to mark down. But you know,
- 23:34Speaker 11: I think when when the Rangers traded for Will Borgan
- 23:39Speaker 11: in the Coppococo deal, they were looking for some more
- 23:46Speaker 11: consistent play out of their back end, just a sturdy,
- 23:50Speaker 11: stay at home defenseman. I have been impressed from the
- 23:53Speaker 11: moment Borgan got here. You know, I don't think you
- 23:56Speaker 11: know he's going to tell you that he has an
- 23:58Speaker 11: offensive streak to his but he'll step up and join
- 24:01Speaker 11: the rush. He's got a pretty good shot. I think
- 24:05Speaker 11: everybody around the organization has been really happy with what
- 24:09Speaker 11: Will brings to the table. He plays with a bit
- 24:12Speaker 11: of an edge. He's a tough guy. I mean I've
- 24:15Speaker 11: seen already. I mean we're less than a month end
- 24:17Speaker 11: of the season, and he's taken some punishment, whether it's
- 24:21Speaker 11: block shots or tough hits, and he keeps on ticking.
- 24:25Speaker 11: He is one tough customer and I think he's been
- 24:28Speaker 11: a great fit for what this Rangers team wants to
- 24:31Speaker 11: be identity wise.
- 24:34Speaker 9: Alex talk a little bit abouts and obviously a top
- 24:39Speaker 9: goaltender in this league. What's he like? What are the
- 24:43Speaker 9: fans need to do about him in terms of how
- 24:45Speaker 9: he approaches the game? You know they see the stats, obviously,
- 24:48Speaker 9: but talk a little bit about his professionalism as a goaltender.
- 24:52Speaker 11: Boy, he's dedicated to his craft. You know, any goalie
- 24:58Speaker 11: will tell you that there hard on themselves. I think
- 25:01Speaker 11: Igor channels it in such a way where we were
- 25:05Speaker 11: looking up some stats the other day that you know
- 25:07Speaker 11: he get. He lost to San Jose in a six
- 25:09Speaker 11: or five overtime decision, and in his career he's bounced
- 25:14Speaker 11: back from those better than most goaltenders. He has a
- 25:18Speaker 11: really he has a gaudy win loss percentage in his
- 25:22Speaker 11: favor when he's coming off of a loss where he's
- 25:24Speaker 11: given up let's say five or more goals, and it
- 25:27Speaker 11: speaks to you know, his professionalism and how deeply he
- 25:31Speaker 11: you know, studies the game. You know, his his movement
- 25:35Speaker 11: when he's square to the puck. You know, I would
- 25:37Speaker 11: put him up against any goaltender in the league and
- 25:40Speaker 11: I'd say, you know, he's probably the best in that regard.
- 25:44Speaker 11: You know, until last year, he had won thirty six
- 25:47Speaker 11: plus games three seasons in a row. I mean, you're
- 25:50Speaker 11: you're talking about the Kreme de la creme in this league.
- 25:53Speaker 11: That's why he earned that large contract extension, the highest
- 25:57Speaker 11: for a goaltender in league history. But you know, I
- 26:01Speaker 11: think where it's so funny. You look at his goals
- 26:05Speaker 11: against and he got binged up a little bit to
- 26:08Speaker 11: start the road trip in Calgary, but he had a
- 26:10Speaker 11: sub two goals against average, and he's a game under
- 26:13Speaker 11: five hundred starting this road trip. You know, so it
- 26:16Speaker 11: just goes to show kind of where the Rangers are
- 26:18Speaker 11: at that you know, he's done his part, but needs
- 26:21Speaker 11: a little bit of run support.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Great catching up with Alex Faust again radio pip by
- 26:26Speaker 2: play voice for the New York Rangers as the Kraken,
- 26:28Speaker 2: trying to extend a run unbeaten at home in regulation.
- 26:32Speaker 2: Currently it's at three to zero and one and lock
- 26:35Speaker 2: up their third win in just nine tries against the Rangers,
- 26:39Speaker 2: who were at the end of a four game road trip.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Recent crack and injury updates include Coppocaco back in a
- 26:45Speaker 2: regular jersey lane. Lambers said he's quote working toward a return.
- 26:49Speaker 2: End quota, still on injured reserve. Meanwhile, Ryker Evans good
- 26:53Speaker 2: news for him. He hasn't played the game yet this season,
- 26:55Speaker 2: but has been seen in a red non contact jersey
- 26:58Speaker 2: this week in practice. Lambert said heat quote looks good.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Skating also looks good. End quote. No further update as well.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Jered mccambermain's day to day no news on his progression,
- 27:09Speaker 2: and senter Freddie Gudreau there's progression being back on ice briefly,
- 27:13Speaker 2: but Lambert's saying he is quote not expected back for
- 27:16Speaker 2: a while. End quotes. Hope you can join us here
- 27:19Speaker 2: for what should be a monumental night in brand new
