- 0:03Speaker 1: All right, man, Bootleg cap Podcast Special guests in here
- 0:06Speaker 1: hip hop legend. This guy has been a staple in
- 0:09Speaker 1: the underground for years and years and years. Minneapolis is
- 0:12Speaker 1: in the building, Big Minnesota's in the building. He's somehow
- 0:18Speaker 1: redefined how old you got to be to have peak
- 0:21Speaker 1: hip hop career levels. Prof is in here. First of all,
- 0:30Speaker 1: I want to congratulate you because I've been following you
- 0:32Speaker 1: for some years. You are obviously a darling of what
- 0:35Speaker 1: we'd like to call the underground kind of boombap subject
- 0:38Speaker 1: culture of you know, certain aspects of hip hop.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Dy.
- 0:42Speaker 1: You have been a touring artist forever, and you have
- 0:45Speaker 1: figured it out a way too.
- 0:48Speaker 3: You have.
- 0:51Speaker 1: Decoded how you can be an artist from your era
- 0:56Speaker 1: and your I guess background of hip hop.
- 0:58Speaker 2: How old are you?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Thirty nine?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:01Speaker 1: So, like you know, I grew up listening to fucking
- 1:03Speaker 1: Brother Ali and Rhyme Sayers and all this shit. But
- 1:06Speaker 1: but I feel like those guys, there's a lot of
- 1:09Speaker 1: guys in that world that haven't figured out how to
- 1:12Speaker 1: connect with the current landscape of consumption, and I feel
- 1:16Speaker 1: like you have mastered all of this hit.
- 1:20Speaker 2: We're getting it wrapped up, starting the old engine, Yeah,
- 1:23Speaker 2: riving it up.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And you're bigger than ever. Man, congrats? Has it feel
- 1:28Speaker 1: like obviously you know it's been a you've you've I
- 1:31Speaker 1: mean you just did I saw you did Red Rocks
- 1:33Speaker 1: last year?
- 1:33Speaker 2: Like, where's that?
- 1:34Speaker 1: This year?
- 1:35Speaker 2: That was last year? Was it this year? Damn? Last April? Yeah?
- 1:39Speaker 1: Yeah, like shit's going well? Man, how you feel?
- 1:40Speaker 2: It's wild? Man? On the way over here, I was
- 1:43Speaker 2: talking to Mike over there, and I'm like, we're trying
- 1:45Speaker 2: to figure out someone who's had a slower come up
- 1:47Speaker 2: than me, like to get from zero to the peak, right,
- 1:51Speaker 2: I would say this is the peak of my career
- 1:53Speaker 2: so far. Yeah, and it's man, it's been a long time.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I'd say, like, you know, I've been wrapping since I
- 1:59Speaker 2: was like sixteen, you know, so that's a long fucking time.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And yeah, a lot of time. Like I only really
- 2:06Speaker 2: became like a professional rapper and lived off this shit,
- 2:09Speaker 2: you know, six or seven years ago? Really yeah, probably,
- 2:13Speaker 2: I mean there was some slim years. There was about
- 2:17Speaker 2: ten years in a row, or maybe seven to ten
- 2:19Speaker 2: years while I was making twenty K, twenty five K,
- 2:22Speaker 2: thirty K, twenty k, fifteen k, whatever. You know, it
- 2:25Speaker 2: was just supplementing with like drug income.
- 2:27Speaker 1: And I was so like when you were like like
- 2:30Speaker 1: the King Gambo era you Gombo, Yeah, you were just
- 2:34Speaker 1: kind of getting getting by.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no doubt.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Like yeah, I mean look at I mean, I feel
- 2:39Speaker 1: like the independent rap game is like it's like if
- 2:42Speaker 1: you're if you you have your cycle, and when the
- 2:44Speaker 1: cycle's up, it's like, Okay, the bills don't stop.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Right.
- 2:49Speaker 1: When do you feel like you kind of hit your
- 2:52Speaker 1: stride in like the new media space and like you've
- 2:54Speaker 1: noticed the momentum start to swing in a new way
- 2:57Speaker 1: for you.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I mean I was they probably twenty twenty felt good,
- 3:02Speaker 2: took a leap, and then I would say maybe twenty
- 3:07Speaker 2: twenty to twenty three, well with my last record, Horse,
- 3:10Speaker 2: Yeah that that felt good. That charted on the Billboard
- 3:13Speaker 2: charts and we started touring selling out like bigger venues
- 3:17Speaker 2: and theaters and stuff, and that felt that felt good.
- 3:20Speaker 2: So you know a couple of different leaps in the
- 3:22Speaker 2: last Yeah, Powderhorn, Sweets and Horse, both of those were
- 3:25Speaker 2: like a level up.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and then you were like dang, like they're like
- 3:29Speaker 1: like I'm getting all these new fans.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah that was that was That's weird. It's happening really
- 3:34Speaker 2: fast right now on Instagram.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, dr TikTok fire. Yeah, you figured out like
- 3:39Speaker 1: these short term reels that are like.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's stupid, though, I really don't.
- 3:43Speaker 1: You title them like washed up, oh fire teacher freestyle
- 3:47Speaker 1: like because.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I started not giving a fuck because I so it's
- 3:50Speaker 2: funny because I'm like, man, fuck this shit, it's all clickbait.
- 3:53Speaker 2: So I started saying like just lying like look at this, uh,
- 3:56Speaker 2: and I would just call myself. I'd be like hate
- 3:58Speaker 2: on myself, like look on this ugly you know what
- 4:00Speaker 2: I'm saying, so and so, and just make a lie
- 4:04Speaker 2: put it up there and then wrap my ass off
- 4:06Speaker 2: and then you know, you hold someone for three seconds
- 4:09Speaker 2: and they're going all right with it. I'm like, so
- 4:11Speaker 2: that was hilarious because I was about to quit that shit.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So then I started saying dumb shit and I think
- 4:18Speaker 2: people understand that, yeah, and it's funny.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It's like it's like and then if you grab somebody
- 4:23Speaker 1: and they're like wait what and then you perform like
- 4:26Speaker 1: you the shit's dope. I never wanted to say.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I never wanted to do the clickbait shit. So when
- 4:32Speaker 2: for so those titles and stuff that I'm doing now
- 4:34Speaker 2: is kind of like making fun of.
- 4:36Speaker 1: The clickbait shit. Yeah, like it's so obviously clickbait.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Obviously fake. You know, can't yeah, I don't. I can't
- 4:42Speaker 2: come up with any examples, but it's definitely stupid.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But people people probably are like, yo, man, did you
- 4:47Speaker 1: really do this?
- 4:48Speaker 2: Yeah? Some people are stupid as hell. Man, the Internet's crazy.
- 4:51Speaker 1: What is the craziest? Like a new fan, you feel
- 4:53Speaker 1: like you've met somebody who like, You're like, oh shit,
- 4:56Speaker 1: you fuck would be like maybe an old lady, maybe
- 4:58Speaker 1: like a fuck I don't know, like, oh, just.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Jelly roll too. I walked in the room and he's
- 5:02Speaker 2: like oh, and I'm like, I'm hello, my name is Prophet.
- 5:05Speaker 2: He's like, no, you're a later I'm like, just that
- 5:08Speaker 2: the whole comedy community, like when we were at you know,
- 5:12Speaker 2: the Netflix is a joke. This all weekend. I'm looking
- 5:14Speaker 2: at Wanka over and over again, like what the fuck
- 5:17Speaker 2: is going on? Everyone was like, well, I was in
- 5:19Speaker 2: the back of the comedy store, like I felt like
- 5:21Speaker 2: the pretty girl at prom or like the new girl,
- 5:23Speaker 2: and that everyone was like everyone knewho I was in
- 5:25Speaker 2: a comedy space.
- 5:26Speaker 1: All the comedians, which is it.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah. They were like and I'm like, I've just been
- 5:31Speaker 2: you know, putting out music and doing dumb reels and
- 5:33Speaker 2: they think it's you know they I mean obviously you know,
- 5:36Speaker 2: do music, so that might have been something else, but yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 2: it's weird. Man.
- 5:41Speaker 1: You and Jelly Row synonymously kind of had the same
- 5:44Speaker 1: come up in the underground, but in different corners of
- 5:47Speaker 1: the underground.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I'm less familiar with his ship. It was I think
- 5:49Speaker 2: it wasn't he signed it like a strange no, no.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Well he did a distro deal, but like back in
- 5:54Speaker 1: the day he was like Roland like like he was
- 5:58Speaker 1: in the Yellow Wolf Ritz, I know, yellow corner of
- 6:01Speaker 1: the of the White Trash underground rap.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Yeah you know what I'm saying. Yeah, this ship was
- 6:07Speaker 2: like I would say, like if yeah rapper me and
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yellow Wolf, I feel like we're kind of similar, but
- 6:12Speaker 2: I was like more along. I never really liked like
- 6:15Speaker 2: he was like rap rock. I was like rap blues
- 6:17Speaker 2: or like, uh, you know, jazz or something.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's like the Minnesota Alabama difference, you know, right, yeah, yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 1: what was there a comedian that like like knew who
- 6:29Speaker 1: you were? Where you were like, I'm a fan, Like
- 6:31Speaker 1: that's kind of crazy. I fuck with you too. Sure
- 6:34Speaker 1: there's more than one ship.
- 6:35Speaker 2: I don't know who. That's a long list. I mean
- 6:38Speaker 2: Tony Hnscliff is like super rooting for me, which is
- 6:42Speaker 2: crazy to be like, you know, come to come to
- 6:44Speaker 2: my show and kill Tony Man. Yeah, he was like,
- 6:46Speaker 2: get on stage, come on, you'll go. I'll put you
- 6:48Speaker 2: on after jelly Roll or between a yeah Teddy Swims
- 6:52Speaker 2: or whatever. And I'm like I was just like, I'm
- 6:55Speaker 2: just gonna soak this in, like, you know, because it
- 6:57Speaker 2: was all unfamiliar.
- 6:58Speaker 1: You got to just go to Austin and be a
- 6:59Speaker 1: guess judge.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Yeah. I told him i'd do that. Afterwards, I was like,
- 7:03Speaker 2: I fuck with that shit.
- 7:04Speaker 1: That's dope man. For people who don't know you are
- 7:09Speaker 1: from Minnesota. Minneapolis, Minneapolis, Yeah, Minneapolis has this scene that
- 7:14Speaker 1: is like super underrated in the hip hop community. A
- 7:17Speaker 1: lot of people don't know like Lizzo's roots in Minneapolis.
- 7:19Speaker 1: With her career, I don't think she's from Minneapolis.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Originally, she spent time there with everybody. Yeah, Minneapolis was
- 7:25Speaker 2: really crazy until about twenty twenty when they canceled everybody. Yeah,
- 7:30Speaker 2: in the city. But from like twenty ten to twenty twenty,
- 7:34Speaker 2: it was one of the best hip hop rap cities,
- 7:38Speaker 2: I would say in the entire world as far as
- 7:40Speaker 2: like people getting paychecks off of shit.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Dude, such a dope live concert city.
- 7:45Speaker 2: There must have been like thirty to forty rappers that
- 7:49Speaker 2: were doing it professionally out of that in the city
- 7:51Speaker 2: in that one city. Yeah, Like and I'm like, man,
- 7:54Speaker 2: like you could you have that in Atlanta? You know,
- 7:56Speaker 2: but they're all blown up in worlds, you know, famous
- 7:59Speaker 2: and shit. But that was like Minneapolis. People were paying
- 8:01Speaker 2: like their light bills and shit. You know. Now it's
- 8:03Speaker 2: not like that. It's like dead compared to that.
- 8:07Speaker 1: What was your like correlation with like the whole rhyme Sayers?
- 8:14Speaker 1: Was that stuff that like inspired you watching like atmosphere
- 8:16Speaker 1: and like idea inabilities and all those guys kind of.
- 8:19Speaker 2: The idea was crazy? You know. I was battling, you know,
- 8:22Speaker 2: I was on the street corners, like getting drunk and
- 8:24Speaker 2: doing that whole thing, because that was like Minneapolis. Shit,
- 8:26Speaker 2: if you're on the South Side, like we were doing
- 8:28Speaker 2: that before eight Mile came out, you know what I mean.
- 8:30Speaker 2: So we were really out there battling and shit, and
- 8:32Speaker 2: then Idea went crazy and won that that big ass
- 8:36Speaker 2: world famous battle and everything, and so yeah, I was
- 8:39Speaker 2: doing that a bunch, and yeah, I was just on
- 8:42Speaker 2: the street. I was on the streets making a name
- 8:45Speaker 2: for myself doing that kind of shit. But I was,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I was. I was on my own ship. Like I
- 8:50Speaker 2: was never really backpack rap, you know, never. I never
- 8:52Speaker 2: felt like I fit in with that because I was
- 8:54Speaker 2: listening to fucking Outcast, you know what I mean, and
- 8:57Speaker 2: Goodie Mob and shit, and I was, I was. I was.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I had ties with Atlanta through like a group called
- 9:04Speaker 2: the beat Chefs who was making beats for me, but
- 9:06Speaker 2: like you know, killing Mike and all that shit, and
- 9:08Speaker 2: you know, I just felt I didn't really like that
- 9:11Speaker 2: like hip hop backpack shit because it a lot of
- 9:15Speaker 2: times it was like pretentious, you know, and I didn't.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I don't, I don't know.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Yeah, there was an aspect of that ship that was
- 9:20Speaker 1: very pretentious, especially like I kind of feel like, especially
- 9:23Speaker 1: out of Minneapolis a little especially.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Sure, and you know, I have moments you know, you
- 9:29Speaker 2: don't know hip hop, you ain't shit, like some white
- 9:32Speaker 2: kid with telling me that I don't know hip hop
- 9:35Speaker 2: and shit, I'm like, man, whatever, man, I'm just so
- 9:37Speaker 2: I was doing my own ship, being like more goofy
- 9:39Speaker 2: and getting drunk and more like violent weird, you know,
- 9:41Speaker 2: like more like mainstream. You know, I like I was
- 9:44Speaker 2: fucking with Ludacris and shit, like I love that shit,
- 9:46Speaker 2: and I wasn't into like I.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Mean you had like walk a Floka on one of
- 9:49Speaker 1: your albums. Yeah right, yeah that was that was the ship,
- 9:52Speaker 1: which like if in twenty eleven or twelve, like a
- 9:56Speaker 1: hip hop head would.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Be like, yo, fan, hell no what yeah, hell no,
- 10:00Speaker 2: that's that's what that was. Kind of like my shit, Like, man,
- 10:02Speaker 2: you know I'm over here doing that instead.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Hey, man, don't forget odd socks basics. The only thing
- 10:07Speaker 1: that's on my feet, man, are them odd socks? Baby?
- 10:10Speaker 1: All right? And what I love about odd socks. First
- 10:13Speaker 1: of all, I don't want to say any other socks
- 10:15Speaker 1: by name, but if you're just throwing on, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 1: the good old generic tube socks with shorts, so whatever
- 10:22Speaker 1: it is ankle socks, you ain't gonna find anything more
- 10:26Speaker 1: comfortable than these odd socks basics or more affordable, that's right.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Get a pack like this for nine ninety nine. Odd

- 11:26Speaker 2: Like?
- 11:27Speaker 1: Would you say growing up? Was there like an album
- 11:30Speaker 1: or two or three that like kind of like just
- 11:32Speaker 1: made you fall in love?
- 11:33Speaker 2: Goodie Mobs, Soul Food. Oh he was like that was
- 11:35Speaker 2: the number one. Shit, that's the first rap album that
- 11:37Speaker 2: I would like memorized everything too, and like I think
- 11:40Speaker 2: a common like Water for Chocolate.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I think or like Water for Chocolate is the one
- 11:45Speaker 1: that had the light on it, and.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Uh, what's what's that? What's the one after that?
- 11:50Speaker 1: The one after that would have been the one.
- 11:54Speaker 2: No, there's are you.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Talking about resurrection B there's the one that had the
- 11:57Speaker 1: Lauren hillsong where he's rapping about fucking.
- 11:59Speaker 2: The This is crazy because I could recite every word
- 12:01Speaker 2: to this fucking album and I can't. I can't come
- 12:04Speaker 2: up with the title right now. But that was good
- 12:06Speaker 2: goodie mob. Soul Food was crazy. You know, that's a
- 12:09Speaker 2: type that that's the type of ship that was. Like
- 12:11Speaker 2: se Low was you know, melodic too, and I was
- 12:13Speaker 2: kind of you know, I was in this some you know,
- 12:15Speaker 2: singing to at some time, so like that was that
- 12:17Speaker 2: was my.
- 12:18Speaker 1: Ship shot to see Low stealing and she had a great,
- 12:21Speaker 1: great hook on the Kanye album. I didn't expect to hear.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I was like, yo, he came out at so far
- 12:26Speaker 1: with Kanye and I was standing like where I happened
- 12:29Speaker 1: to be at. I was just like children and I
- 12:31Speaker 1: was just looking around and all I'm like, yo, you
- 12:33Speaker 1: know who that is? You know who that is? And
- 12:35Speaker 1: was like, Yo, I think that's I'm like, it's Selo,
- 12:40Speaker 1: you little mother fucker. Yeah, dust steal a little ship.
- 12:44Speaker 2: And he just came out with a new Narls Barkley too.
- 12:46Speaker 1: He did. Yeah, she has the Selo green Man. That's dope.
- 12:50Speaker 1: So for you, man, like you got a new record
- 12:53Speaker 1: with T Pain that's been dope. The video is incredible.
- 12:56Speaker 2: That was fun.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Are you because you have this like amazing for visuals
- 13:01Speaker 1: and like just aesthetics in general, and I feel like
- 13:03Speaker 1: you've always had that. Are you very much like hands
- 13:06Speaker 1: on with all of the creative stuff completely?
- 13:09Speaker 2: Man, every single point of the way. It gets kind
- 13:11Speaker 2: of like tedious and shit. But if something comes out
- 13:15Speaker 2: in an other way and it's we presented and it's
- 13:18Speaker 2: just a miss and I do you know, which happens
- 13:21Speaker 2: all the time even with my shit, I'm like, that
- 13:23Speaker 2: didn't work out the way I wanted it too, But
- 13:24Speaker 2: like you know, when people are like, no, I got
- 13:26Speaker 2: an idea and then it I just can't have it
- 13:28Speaker 2: so that way. So I just I got to have
- 13:30Speaker 2: my hands and everything.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it is there ever an idea that it's
- 13:34Speaker 1: so outlandish that you have to pull it back a
- 13:36Speaker 1: little or be like, Okay, maybe I'm.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Doing that more and more and more. No, because you know,
- 13:40Speaker 2: I just feel like I'm old now, and everybody just,
- 13:42Speaker 2: you know, they're like they, Okay, we're gonna film a
- 13:44Speaker 2: music video again. Okay, like go fucking crazy, do a
- 13:47Speaker 2: backflip off this tree and fucking you know, they eat
- 13:49Speaker 2: this pussy out from behind. And I'm just like, you know, nah,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I'm like evolving a little bit.
- 13:55Speaker 1: You know, I feel like too, there's like this narrative
- 13:59Speaker 1: that I've seen smart talk about that like music videos,
- 14:03Speaker 1: ROI isn't worth it anymore, It's not I do. Yeah,
- 14:07Speaker 1: and you'd be better off spending Let's say you were
- 14:10Speaker 1: gonna spend five grand on a music video. Spending five
- 14:13Speaker 1: grand and like doing thirty reels.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Or something, Yeah, that would much rather like if if
- 14:17Speaker 2: if I had advice for some people coming up, I'd
- 14:19Speaker 2: be like, well, first, don't spend shit, just just think
- 14:22Speaker 2: of anything creative and just film it with your phone.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Really yeah, but yeah, music video budgets. I think I
- 14:28Speaker 2: filmed one of my last music videos and I'm gonna
- 14:30Speaker 2: do it a very long time. But that for a
- 14:32Speaker 2: Good Time Boy. That is a single out right now
- 14:34Speaker 2: and it's the title track for my record, so it
- 14:37Speaker 2: just ties everything up and that the concept on it
- 14:39Speaker 2: was just too important for the whole record and the
- 14:41Speaker 2: ending of it. You know, I don't really want to
- 14:43Speaker 2: give it away, but it meant too much for me. So,
- 14:46Speaker 2: you know, we just and you know, Mike is, He'll
- 14:48Speaker 2: let me do my thing. He's like, we ain't gonna
- 14:50Speaker 2: make any money off of this, but let's do it
- 14:53Speaker 2: because it's gonna be important. It's important to the art
- 14:56Speaker 2: and the whole album, you know. So yeah, we just did.
- 14:59Speaker 2: We did earlier this week.
- 15:00Speaker 1: So it was a Good Time Boy. A concept album, no,
- 15:07Speaker 1: not really, but it is.
- 15:08Speaker 2: It's it's a little bit more of like you know,
- 15:10Speaker 2: social commentary on like what's going It's it's close to
- 15:12Speaker 2: a concept album. It's kind of like, you know, being
- 15:15Speaker 2: a trying to remain an optimist in the face of
- 15:17Speaker 2: fucking global annihilation and.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Dis yeah, in the face of the world metal, what's
- 15:21Speaker 1: going on right now, totalerism and fucking evil shit.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Yeah, So then that's what it's about, and that the
- 15:27Speaker 2: single it's about that. So yeah, I would say, I
- 15:32Speaker 2: don't know, what would you say. I wouldn't say it's
- 15:34Speaker 2: a concept album. Really, I feel like, yeah, it's just
- 15:38Speaker 2: a scynct world. It's a succinct world. Well.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I feel like when you approach an album, if you're
- 15:42Speaker 1: fucking at least if you like give a fuck, every
- 15:45Speaker 1: album should have its own world and vibe.
- 15:47Speaker 2: You know, yeah, take a life of its own.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Yeah, like did the ship you wear, the way the
- 15:53Speaker 1: colors are, you know, all that shit?
- 15:54Speaker 2: You know.
- 15:55Speaker 1: It also kind of what do you feel like, because
- 15:57Speaker 1: like we're talking about what was going on in the
- 15:58Speaker 1: world right now, and it feels like, no matter what happens,
- 16:00Speaker 1: Minneapolis becomes kind of the center point of social commentary.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And you know, Ice really really fucking I really want
- 16:13Speaker 1: to say fuck you to Nick Shirley because that little
- 16:16Speaker 1: fucking autistic fucks video really resulted in this Ice presence.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I feel like it was kind of a director result
- 16:24Speaker 1: at least.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and they I don't think Trump fucks with our
- 16:27Speaker 2: governor the walls bruh. Yeah, yeah, so and it's just
- 16:33Speaker 2: I don't know, Minneapolis doesn't. We don't have a tolerance
- 16:36Speaker 2: for that shit ever. Since twenty twenty George Floyd. It's
- 16:39Speaker 2: like hairpin trigger shit, And that was just as bad
- 16:43Speaker 2: as twenty twenty. I mean that the city didn't burn
- 16:45Speaker 2: like it did, but man, like it was a whole
- 16:48Speaker 2: new nightmare. It was really an occupation. Like I live
- 16:52Speaker 2: on the South Side still and you still heard these
- 16:55Speaker 2: whistles and like all these new ways that the neighbors
- 16:57Speaker 2: will get together and fight these people. It was bananas.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Terrorizing and like invading just neighborhoods, oh high schools to
- 17:07Speaker 1: fighting children and shit like that.
- 17:08Speaker 2: So like no matter, let's say in Minneapolis, eventually no
- 17:12Speaker 2: one was fucking with ice. Like it might have started
- 17:14Speaker 2: where people are like, yeah, I would like some good
- 17:16Speaker 2: reform immigration or whatever. But like but then you got them,
- 17:20Speaker 2: you know someone it says, maybe like keep the borders closed.
- 17:22Speaker 2: You got someone sitting on a bus stop with someone
- 17:25Speaker 2: that they've taken a bus with for the past five years,
- 17:27Speaker 2: and then they see them just fucking get violently just disappeared. Yeah,
- 17:31Speaker 2: right in front of them. They go, whoa, whoa, don't
- 17:33Speaker 2: do that. And it changed, like no one in Minneapolis
- 17:35Speaker 2: was fucking with that shit, and there was people, you know,
- 17:38Speaker 2: we were hiding little. So there's a what we like
- 17:41Speaker 2: to do a lot in Minneapolis is really popular is
- 17:44Speaker 2: immersive Spanish immersion daycares and preschools and shit, So I
- 17:50Speaker 2: mean super popular. I would say there's more Spanish immersion
- 17:52Speaker 2: daycares than normal daycares. So there's like little abuelitas like
- 17:57Speaker 2: that people care about and that they cared for people's
- 18:00Speaker 2: our sons and daughters and literally people like many people
- 18:05Speaker 2: I know sneaking I will eat usk in fucking little
- 18:08Speaker 2: hatchbacks and trunks and have them like sit down on
- 18:12Speaker 2: the back seat and lay down and shit. Like we
- 18:13Speaker 2: were doing shit like that that felt like, I'm not
- 18:16Speaker 2: gonna say it felt like fucking Nazi Germany or whatever.
- 18:18Speaker 2: But we were like, what the fuck is going.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Where in America in twenty twenty six. The fact that
- 18:22Speaker 1: that's even like a reality for any part of the
- 18:24Speaker 1: country is fucking wild.
- 18:27Speaker 2: Yeah. And they shot Renee good, shot fucking Alex pretty yeah.
- 18:31Speaker 1: I mean, both of those being on video, I mean obviously.
- 18:35Speaker 2: And then for them to be like, yeah they were,
- 18:37Speaker 2: you know, But that's the thing is like just just.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Like obviously them losing their life is heartbreaking, but at
- 18:44Speaker 1: least it was filmed. Man, at least there were people
- 18:46Speaker 1: there to get it on camera, because I really feel
- 18:48Speaker 1: like it really kind of forced. Like even I was
- 18:53Speaker 1: watching one of the Senate hearings with their interview and
- 18:55Speaker 1: the Christy Nome bitch and like the Reportublican people were like,
- 19:01Speaker 1: it's obvious, what's the old dude that sounds like uh
- 19:06Speaker 1: he sounds like the dude from fucking uh he sounds
- 19:08Speaker 1: like fog fog fog Horn Leghorn Kennedy. Senator Kennedy was
- 19:11Speaker 1: asking Christy Doom about about He was like, is this
- 19:15Speaker 1: you said that these were domestic terrorists?
- 19:17Speaker 2: Is? Yeah?
- 19:18Speaker 1: Right?
- 19:18Speaker 2: And she her final words were, that's all good man.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I'm not mad at you. You know what I'm saying.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Bro, Bro, it's just crazy man. I just you know,
- 19:27Speaker 1: Minneapolis has that energy, man, and like obviously the George
- 19:29Speaker 1: Floyd shit is is a whole other thing. Would he
- 19:32Speaker 1: like like as somebody from Minneapolis. I wonder you met
- 19:34Speaker 1: Tony Hinchcliffe. Did you see his joke at the roast?
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yeah? And I'm I'm trying to navigate my relationship with them,
- 19:41Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Because I like to say
- 19:44Speaker 2: crazy shit. You know, I was a battle rapper. I
- 19:46Speaker 2: came up like that was real shit battle rapping as well.
- 19:50Speaker 2: Like but he says that, and I'm really not offended
- 19:52Speaker 2: by a lot, But like I understand, like I wouldn't
- 19:55Speaker 2: be saying that ship that he's saying, you know what
- 19:57Speaker 2: I'm saying that Like I was out and this I
- 19:59Speaker 2: mean I was out in the street marching for George Floyd,
- 20:01Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So I don't know.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I think there's like two sides of the coin, and
- 20:07Speaker 1: I kind of understand both perspectives. I think like roast
- 20:11Speaker 1: comedy has always been the most like drilled out.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Oh for sure, that's what your goal there for to go,
- 20:18Speaker 2: oh hell no.
- 20:19Speaker 1: And like Tony Hinchcliff's brand of comedy is literally like
- 20:23Speaker 1: it's just that, like just psychopath like no one's safe, right,
- 20:29Speaker 1: So it's like, but I also get it where you're
- 20:31Speaker 1: like it's like, yeah, that's a certain point in time,
- 20:33Speaker 1: where's the where's the line? You know what I mean?
- 20:36Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I'm not going down that line, no for sure.
- 20:41Speaker 1: But I think, like I think, I think it seemed
- 20:44Speaker 1: like everyone on stage at least took it kind of
- 20:46Speaker 1: except for him. Chelsea Hammler had a little thing.
- 20:48Speaker 2: It was I kind of liked it. It was I
- 20:50Speaker 2: didn't watch the whole thing, man, I was tired of hell.
- 20:52Speaker 1: But it was cool. Man.
- 20:54Speaker 2: But yeah, if you don't like it, like there's always
- 20:56Speaker 2: like don't watch it type shit.
- 20:58Speaker 1: So you have this touring Canada, supposed to be with
- 21:01Speaker 1: the Yell Little for Mexican O t h. It ends
- 21:04Speaker 1: up being prof. Prof and prof and Wonkah were there.
- 21:08Speaker 2: That's my ace, man, he helped me out. Like crazy.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I would love to see that tour in the United States,
- 21:14Speaker 1: I like to point out because I think it would
- 21:16Speaker 1: go crazy. Yeah, at least two out of three all
- 21:20Speaker 1: on the road together, it would go crazy. I don't know.
- 21:22Speaker 2: But what what was it like?
- 21:23Speaker 1: Because you know, you got all these fans that show
- 21:25Speaker 1: up in Canada, and now I think Canadian fans probably
- 21:28Speaker 1: moved a little bit more grace because they do understand
- 21:30Speaker 1: how ridiculous their border is. Yeah, right, And I feel
- 21:33Speaker 1: like it happens a lot where like artists get blocked and.
- 21:35Speaker 2: They're just nice like, oh it's okay, Like they all stayed. Yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 2: so oh great show.
- 21:41Speaker 1: But that has to be like for you, it's kind
- 21:42Speaker 1: of like you're like, you know, like Jimmy Butler.
- 21:45Speaker 2: On the Heat. Yeah, yeah, I'm saying yeah that one,
- 21:48Speaker 2: that one show in Toronto. I was like, damn, we
- 21:51Speaker 2: got like five six hours just the two of us.
- 21:53Speaker 2: I was like, you know, are we gonna get paid?
- 21:55Speaker 2: I was like, are you gonna pay us? I mean
- 21:57Speaker 2: I probably performed for probably than two hours, but he
- 22:01Speaker 2: had an hour djaying hour and a half, so total probably.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I mean we turned that bitch out, dude, that was
- 22:08Speaker 2: one of the best.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, VIP for another hour, so I mean showed up.
- 22:12Speaker 2: We were going. I mean we were going for five
- 22:13Speaker 2: to six hours straight and by the end of that
- 22:16Speaker 2: everyone was just like that. Man that when we walked
- 22:19Speaker 2: off stage, man, like, the titties were out, bras were everywhere. Motherfuckers.
- 22:24Speaker 2: We had people crying, like it was like it was
- 22:26Speaker 2: a super memorable.
- 22:27Speaker 1: On thousands of shows, I do miss I feel like
- 22:30Speaker 1: we we don't see as many titties anymore concerts.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're always a good sign. It's like, you know,
- 22:34Speaker 2: a canary and a coal mine, like so, so when
- 22:37Speaker 2: the titt's are out, it's good. There's like because there's
- 22:39Speaker 2: been fights and ship there's you know, when titties are out,
- 22:42Speaker 2: there's no fights. No, for sure, everyone's cool, Like people
- 22:45Speaker 2: are comfy. It's always a good sign of a good show.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Tech nine does the But then, but then sometimes I
- 22:53Speaker 1: think we've gotten to the point where even like fifteen
- 22:56Speaker 1: years ago to tech show, I'm not sure there's the
- 22:57Speaker 1: tit's you want to see. But even more so, like
- 23:01Speaker 1: twenty twenty six had a text show, it's.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Like maybe he's probably got the daughters of the Like,
- 23:07Speaker 2: I bet he's got the mother now the daughters, alas
- 23:11Speaker 2: the moms are still coming. I would be worried to
- 23:13Speaker 2: like request that and say everybody take out titties. It's like,
- 23:16Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm not worried about the all ages shit.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Like I'm like, yeah, I don't want to be you know,
- 23:21Speaker 2: it's get weird.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Man.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Why the name good Time Boy for the new album?
- 23:25Speaker 2: Oh that's just that's just it just Uh. There was
- 23:28Speaker 2: a song called bad Time Boy that I released. I
- 23:31Speaker 2: was about to put it on the album, but it
- 23:32Speaker 2: got time passed too much. But like there was gonna
- 23:35Speaker 2: be this good Time Boy bad Time Boy shit. But
- 23:37Speaker 2: you know, good Time Boy is just being like I said,
- 23:39Speaker 2: like trying to remain an optimist and like you see
- 23:42Speaker 2: the news like it's okay to shut that ship off
- 23:45Speaker 2: and fucking kick it with the homies or you know,
- 23:47Speaker 2: like I wish we should have give you a link
- 23:49Speaker 2: to that record. Like the way the way the record
- 23:52Speaker 2: ends is uh. It's called Garden of Eden and it's
- 23:58Speaker 2: a song I've been working on for like six years.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Wow.
- 24:01Speaker 2: And I made many beats for it and they just
- 24:04Speaker 2: weren't They just weren't it, you know, that that idea
- 24:08Speaker 2: of being in heaven on earth right now it's like
- 24:10Speaker 2: what I've been trying to, like We're in the Garden
- 24:11Speaker 2: of Eden. And it took a long time. Yeah, and
- 24:16Speaker 2: I got it. Worked with a heavy composer, yeah, Adam Conrad.
- 24:21Speaker 2: We had strings, we had a choir in there, and
- 24:23Speaker 2: it was so good that I'm like, Okay, now I
- 24:25Speaker 2: can really make it powerful and put all these things
- 24:27Speaker 2: in there. And the way it ends, you know, and
- 24:30Speaker 2: there's themes of like shame and guilt and then also
- 24:34Speaker 2: I'm talking about you know, cancel ate, canceling people, and
- 24:38Speaker 2: then like how are we gonna heal? And you know,
- 24:41Speaker 2: it's hard to describe right now, but I couldn't be
- 24:43Speaker 2: more proud of that record a because there's fucking bangers
- 24:47Speaker 2: on that ship and it's super height in sections. But
- 24:51Speaker 2: then be the way I say what I've been wanting
- 24:54Speaker 2: to say, you know, for a long time now.
- 24:58Speaker 1: So so for you is your process? I'm sure each
- 25:02Speaker 1: song different, but like, if you have that idea, do
- 25:05Speaker 1: you already start writing it before you have the music
- 25:07Speaker 1: all the way figured out?
- 25:08Speaker 2: Yeah, there's ideas and themes that I've figured out, Like
- 25:11Speaker 2: if I go through my phone right now, like I
- 25:12Speaker 2: have I write things down before I'm in the studio,
- 25:17Speaker 2: Like rarely am I like you could be. I mean
- 25:18Speaker 2: this one, this one's called mostly swaggy, So these are
- 25:20Speaker 2: lines that are just mostly swaggy, and I have like
- 25:23Speaker 2: ten twelve thirty forty pages, and I have one that
- 25:26Speaker 2: mostly intellect you know, mostly serious. And then that's that's
- 25:29Speaker 2: even You get in.
- 25:30Speaker 1: The studio and you at least you have your inspiration
- 25:33Speaker 1: to pull from, and it makes I'm sure for a
- 25:35Speaker 1: lot more efficient studio sessions.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm not in I'm not in the studio,
- 25:39Speaker 2: I'm in my recording yourself. I'm at the crib, I'm
- 25:41Speaker 2: engineering myself. So there's no there's no I'm only in
- 25:44Speaker 2: there when I'm feeling good. You know.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Do you ever just be like, you know what, I
- 25:47Speaker 1: think I want to book a studio? No, no, nope, no,
- 25:52Speaker 1: I just I've done that a lot.
- 25:54Speaker 2: I've done that, and you get to get with the boys,
- 25:57Speaker 2: you get fucked up, and then I'm all smoking men
- 26:00Speaker 2: dolls and just kicking it. And then they're like, come
- 26:02Speaker 2: back in the studio. I'm like, I don't want to
- 26:03Speaker 2: go back in there, like and then no one gives
- 26:05Speaker 2: a fuck. Everyone's talking and shit and you party, and
- 26:07Speaker 2: you know, it's like, oh yeah, we gotta get it.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Like, well, we could have just went to Applebee's and
- 26:11Speaker 1: did the same ship.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Just could have gotten arcandat Applebee's instead of the studio.
- 26:14Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Yeah, shot us in Narcans,
- 26:17Speaker 1: saving lives in downtown La daily is the homeless thing
- 26:21Speaker 1: crazy in Minneapolis. Y'all gotta figured out. No, we do
- 26:24Speaker 1: not have it figured out.
- 26:25Speaker 2: You haven't figured out. I was actually I I asked,
- 26:28Speaker 2: read over here, I go, give me three steps out
- 26:31Speaker 2: of nowhere to like solve what are the first three
- 26:33Speaker 2: things you'd do to solve homelessness? And I think he said,
- 26:36Speaker 2: get everybody together, what was what was it? Get them all,
- 26:41Speaker 2: offer them something and bring him to my house, and
- 26:43Speaker 2: then we did. He didn't figure it out after that.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Yeah, it's I think it's a lot easier to figure
- 26:50Speaker 1: that because like Austin figured it out a little bit
- 26:53Speaker 1: better than most places. Because I went to Austin. I
- 26:56Speaker 1: went with Freddie Gibbs to Joe Rogan and like we
- 26:58Speaker 1: were walking to be out six and bro I was like,
- 27:00Speaker 1: I hadn't been Austin like five or six years, and
- 27:02Speaker 1: I was like, what the fuck that whole bridge you've done?
- 27:04Speaker 1: South by Southwest there's that bridge that separates like east
- 27:07Speaker 1: and west six and it was like a city under
- 27:10Speaker 1: the bridge, right, Yeah, it's not like that, nor And
- 27:12Speaker 1: then I went back like nine months later, and I guess,
- 27:14Speaker 1: like a new mayor had gotten elected.
- 27:16Speaker 2: They probably shipped everybody to New York or something.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Honestly, that wasn't that what the dude was doing?
- 27:22Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I mean I don't know.
- 27:25Speaker 1: I think I think you got to figure out a
- 27:26Speaker 1: way to understand that there's a lot of people who
- 27:29Speaker 1: want to be homeless.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so complex.
- 27:32Speaker 1: It is a very complex issue. And once it gets
- 27:35Speaker 1: past a certain threshold of the amount of people, it
- 27:38Speaker 1: feels like a fad, like I don't.
- 27:40Speaker 2: Know, Yeah, I don't I'd like to think that we
- 27:43Speaker 2: definitely have money for these things because we got money
- 27:45Speaker 2: for crazy wars for no reason.
- 27:47Speaker 1: And shit, we have enough money to blow up children
- 27:49Speaker 1: and Iran.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Yeah, people stop caring because maybe it's useless. I don't know,
- 27:55Speaker 2: you know, I just think for me, what I would
- 27:57Speaker 2: try to do is start before that shit and provide
- 28:02Speaker 2: a decent way to live for people. You know what
- 28:05Speaker 2: I'm saying.
- 28:06Speaker 1: Yeah, I think uh. I think Zorn Mandani's doing such
- 28:09Speaker 1: a great job in New York. I hope these motherfuckers
- 28:12Speaker 1: are paying attention this full balance balance.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I saw that he's a balance A budget was thirteen billion.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Then he just did and then he did. He did
- 28:21Speaker 1: a whole fucking Instagram just saying this is how we
- 28:23Speaker 1: did it, exactly how he did it.
- 28:25Speaker 2: I know. I was like, I've never seen anything like
- 28:28Speaker 2: that in my life.
- 28:29Speaker 1: I'm like, how why did this guy have to be
- 28:31Speaker 1: born in Uganda? He can't be the president he's from Uganda.
- 28:34Speaker 2: This is he's from Uganda.
- 28:37Speaker 1: He was born in Uganda.
- 28:38Speaker 2: Damn what what's ethnicity is he?
- 28:41Speaker 1: I think he's Indian, but I know he being born
- 28:43Speaker 1: in Uganda. Yeah, yeah, brus getting he's got it together.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah, I haven't been paying much attention, but then
- 28:49Speaker 2: I just saw that Instagram when I was blown away.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Do you feel as a white rapper? Because I feel
- 28:56Speaker 1: like the last five or six years things have been
- 28:58Speaker 1: a little weird because I feel like Joe Biden was
- 29:02Speaker 1: such a horrible president that like it kind of a
- 29:05Speaker 1: lot of people kind of politically just kind of felt
- 29:07Speaker 1: like we're in no man's land because we watched the left,
- 29:10Speaker 1: you know, fund and allow Baby Niello to go crazy
- 29:13Speaker 1: and is in Gaza, and then there was this election
- 29:17Speaker 1: and the podcast Bruhs was kind of normalizing Trump and
- 29:22Speaker 1: yeah yeah, So like being a white rapper, I feel like,
- 29:24Speaker 1: you know, do you and you're also from Minneapolis, so
- 29:27Speaker 1: like and you're politically charged, dude, So for you, like,
- 29:30Speaker 1: do you feel like it's more like this is just
- 29:33Speaker 1: who you are? Like you want to make sure you are,
- 29:35Speaker 1: you know, speaking out against shit or and if so,
- 29:38Speaker 1: is there like a pocket of your fan base that
- 29:41Speaker 1: you noticed that maybe just discovered you.
- 29:44Speaker 2: That doesn't know I'm like, what the fuck do you
- 29:45Speaker 2: think that might think.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Like, ah, fuck, I thought this was Tom McDonald.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, No, you know, I don't. I don't know, man,
- 29:55Speaker 2: It's so it's so confusing. Bro. I'm at the age
- 29:58Speaker 2: right now where I'm like, damn fguring out. I don't
- 30:00Speaker 2: know shit, you know, I'm just trying to I used to,
- 30:05Speaker 2: like ten years ago, I was online going back and
- 30:07Speaker 2: forth with the motherfucker. Oh man, me too, Bro, I
- 30:09Speaker 2: can't you know, I don't know. Honestly, I'm just trying
- 30:13Speaker 2: to fucking get money so I can protect the people
- 30:15Speaker 2: closest to me right now.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I love that.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, like, I don't know what else to do.
- 30:19Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not gonna grab a fucking AK forty
- 30:21Speaker 2: seven and charge the White House or something like. So,
- 30:24Speaker 2: I don't know. It's confusing. I'm just kind of putting
- 30:27Speaker 2: seeing which way the wind is blowing, and just trying
- 30:29Speaker 2: to like take care of my own really.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like the white Rapper thing at least
- 30:34Speaker 1: is kind of like a like I feel like ten
- 30:36Speaker 1: years ago it was like one guy at a time
- 30:38Speaker 1: could be hot.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Like it was like all right, Macklamore tagging g easy,
- 30:43Speaker 1: all right, tagging.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Jack Harlowe only one at a time.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I'm yellow If tagging MGK bro. I'm so old.
- 30:49Speaker 2: I thought I was gonna be like the second white rapper.
- 30:51Speaker 2: I'm like, it's Eminem, then it's me. Then I saw
- 30:54Speaker 2: like Yellowolf, like fuck this guy man, and then like yeah,
- 30:57Speaker 2: one at a time or whatever. But now I don't know,
- 31:01Speaker 2: And now there's like this like weird just it's anything.
- 31:05Speaker 2: There's so much weird shit going on, like wrap anything
- 31:08Speaker 2: that goes kind of viral. Now they're on rolling loud,
- 31:10Speaker 2: white kid like fifteen year old white kids jumping around.
- 31:12Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't know what the fuck?
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I uh, I went down the net spend rabbit
- 31:17Speaker 1: hole recently. There's a guy named net spend who's very popular.
- 31:19Speaker 1: He's had one of the biggest sets of rolling out.
- 31:22Speaker 1: He's a little white dude. He looks like a he
- 31:23Speaker 1: looks like a like Christina Aguilar's daughter or something.
- 31:27Speaker 2: He looks like her daughter.
- 31:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 31:29Speaker 2: I was like no, So I was like, all right, well,
- 31:31Speaker 2: like I.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Saw, like, you know, a lot of the blocks saying
- 31:33Speaker 1: net spend had the best set of the day or whatever.
- 31:35Speaker 1: And I was like, all right, I was driving the
- 31:36Speaker 1: other day and I threw his shit on and I
- 31:37Speaker 1: was just like fuck man like, and.
- 31:42Speaker 2: I don't want to. I'm old. I don't want to.
- 31:45Speaker 2: I don't want to be the old head Haydn like
- 31:47Speaker 2: because that happened to me. And I was like, man,
- 31:49Speaker 2: fuck them, you know that's why I'm not But I'm like,
- 31:51Speaker 2: it's horrible. But I'm also saying I'm old. I don't
- 31:55Speaker 2: know what's going on anymore, but I'm looking for them
- 31:57Speaker 2: to uh perform or hit a no or do some
- 32:01Speaker 2: some something skilled or something that requires talent or maybe yeh,
- 32:04Speaker 2: show me a lot of emotion and then show me
- 32:07Speaker 2: some dynamics.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Like I thought Sex was like a perfect guy who
- 32:10Speaker 1: was yeah, yeah, he showed emotion.
- 32:13Speaker 2: I thought he was talented. Yes, yeah, yeah, this new
- 32:15Speaker 2: shit good example.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Have you heard it too?
- 32:17Speaker 2: Slimy? It sounds familiar, dude, But I think what they're
- 32:22Speaker 2: doing is just seeing anybody goes viral and then there
- 32:24Speaker 2: the labels are stepping in and just.
- 32:26Speaker 1: It's kind of finding him and then just it's reminding
- 32:28Speaker 1: me of like twenty sixteen seventeen all over again, where
- 32:31Speaker 1: like anybody who like was going viral. Was kind of
- 32:34Speaker 1: like getting signed, even if you were like, I don't
- 32:37Speaker 1: know what's happening now, man, dude, I, by the way,
- 32:39Speaker 1: no shots are too slimey. I'd love to have you
- 32:41Speaker 1: on the podcast because you look like a villain from
- 32:43Speaker 1: the Incrediblest movie. But I just found this dude recently.
- 32:50Speaker 1: His music.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Oh, I don't know what's you gotta hear the vocals.
- 33:11Speaker 1: This doesn't sound like music.
- 33:13Speaker 2: You know what that could be? Could that be like
- 33:17Speaker 2: scream death metal? Just like it sounds like my kids
- 33:20Speaker 2: want to go crazy.
- 33:21Speaker 1: It sounds like too solid state, hard drives malfunctioning. Will fuck?
- 33:24Speaker 2: That sounded like too bad. That sounds like the radios
- 33:26Speaker 2: were going two separate songs. I don't know what's going on.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on. I just feel like,
- 33:32Speaker 1: you know what, I've gotten to the point where I
- 33:35Speaker 1: have to acknowledge that I am old, and I like
- 33:38Speaker 1: my hip hop to sound like music, and my music
- 33:41Speaker 1: to sound like there was a.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Lot of energy in there though, and.
- 33:46Speaker 1: There wasn't a lot of energy. And he looks he's
- 33:50Speaker 1: a cool looking kid. I'm sure he's a fun hang.
- 33:52Speaker 1: You know, he's got a he he's probably a fun hang.
- 33:55Speaker 1: I'd love to have him on the podcast. I just
- 33:58Speaker 1: want to know what his his engineer's vocal. It looks
- 34:00Speaker 1: like I want to know what what do we got
- 34:03Speaker 1: turned on on the on the pro tools on that boot.
- 34:07Speaker 2: I don't know what that was.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I don't know what is your at home setup for
- 34:11Speaker 1: when you record? What is your mic set up?
- 34:13Speaker 2: Norman eighty seven? Okay, And there's some mother shit that
- 34:16Speaker 2: some other people like help me out with. I like,
- 34:19Speaker 2: I got a compressor, Yeah, I got compressors.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I got to talk. You get the Bluetooth tip probably
- 34:25Speaker 1: yeah it's a giant blue but you know.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I'll just you know, Mahmie Dylan and then like uh
- 34:29Speaker 2: stop house affiliate. And then like Greeves is a kind
- 34:33Speaker 2: of a nerd who helped me once I they tell
- 34:36Speaker 2: me like what to put in there, I'm like, make
- 34:39Speaker 2: the setting exactly what I want, and like I don't
- 34:41Speaker 2: want to have to touch this shit again because I
- 34:42Speaker 2: don't like to nerd out on that ship. I do
- 34:44Speaker 2: not like to learn things or nothing, like I know
- 34:46Speaker 2: the least of them all possible to make the sound,
- 34:47Speaker 2: to get the sounds I want record things? How I
- 34:50Speaker 2: want it. Yeah, you know, and I don't want to
- 34:53Speaker 2: know anything else.
- 34:54Speaker 1: A man, Raffi Law Group, new at sponsor the Bootle podcast.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Want to give some love to that man. I just
- 34:58Speaker 1: was in Arizona, just did a photo shoot. Show some
- 35:01Speaker 1: of those photos. While I'm talking, man, you already know
- 35:05Speaker 1: I'm not only an endorser of Raffi. I'm also a client.
- 35:10Speaker 1: That's right. My wife got into a fender bender and
- 35:12Speaker 1: Raffi took care of her exponentially. It was so easy.
- 35:15Speaker 1: And when I tell you, man, if you get into
- 35:17Speaker 1: an accident, maybe a little injury situation, there's only one
- 35:20Speaker 1: guy I trust, one law group I trust. It's Raffi
- 35:24Speaker 1: Law Group called six two three, three, eight eight forty
- 35:27Speaker 1: three thirty three. Whether it's a car accident, a personal
- 35:30Speaker 1: injury situation, whatever the case is, they alleviate all of
- 35:34Speaker 1: the stress. They've helped over seventy thousand people in AZ.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Now.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Look, I know you're driving around. You see the billboards everywhere.
- 35:40Speaker 1: You're like, Ah, is this guy just like another one
- 35:42Speaker 1: of these billboard lawyers. No, the amount of care, the
- 35:45Speaker 1: amount of attention to detail that they do everything with,
- 35:48Speaker 1: it's the best. One more time if you need help,
- 35:51Speaker 1: you gotta call Raffi, just like I did when my
- 35:53Speaker 1: wife got into an accident. Asy, you gotta trust Raffi man,
- 35:57Speaker 1: all right, they're the best Raffi Law Group. The new
- 36:00Speaker 1: sponsor of the Bootleg Cap podcast one more time, don't
- 36:03Speaker 1: forget to save the number. Call Rafie if you get
- 36:06Speaker 1: into an accident six two, three, three eight eight forty
- 36:10Speaker 1: three thirty three. Let's get back to the podcast. Did
- 36:12Speaker 1: like Rhyme saiers ever try to sign you or anything?
- 36:15Speaker 2: I was signed?
- 36:16Speaker 1: You were signed? A rhyme says, Okay, I feel like
- 36:18Speaker 1: anybody at a Minnesota has had a stint at Rhyme savers.
- 36:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I was. I sold any Moss. Yeah yeah, I
- 36:24Speaker 2: sold out a big outdoor venue at like four thousand
- 36:27Speaker 2: CAP a long time ago. And then that's when they
- 36:29Speaker 2: called me. They were like, hey, yeah, can't get some
- 36:31Speaker 2: of that money you want to share?
- 36:34Speaker 1: I mean, I had a conversation with ev Evidence Uh
- 36:37Speaker 1: just released his last album, Rhyme Sais, and he was like, look, man,
- 36:39Speaker 1: like the independence is cool, but he's like, Rhyme Sais
- 36:41Speaker 1: they got like they got they got it figured out,
- 36:44Speaker 1: Like yeah, you know, He's like I'm not saying they
- 36:46Speaker 1: got their formula. They got their formula and they're like, uh,
- 36:49Speaker 1: you know, independent powerhouses.
- 36:51Speaker 2: You know.
- 36:51Speaker 1: I wish they never got rid of that festival because
- 36:53Speaker 1: that festival was kind of like the last because Rock
- 36:56Speaker 1: the Bells and pay Dues went away.
- 36:58Speaker 2: They I think they lost their ass and then they.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Yeah, well because I think they had Jacob.
- 37:02Speaker 2: They can't they can't compete with like the fucking pockets
- 37:05Speaker 2: of you know, Coachella.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Well, it's also like a weird part of the country
- 37:10Speaker 1: to ask everyone to come to.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Well, it's a short flight. I don't know, it's in
- 37:15Speaker 2: the middle of it. A lot of things.
- 37:16Speaker 1: How do you feel about your Timberwolves? Man, are you
- 37:19Speaker 1: guys gonna get over there?
- 37:21Speaker 2: And it's hurt bro?
- 37:21Speaker 1: Like he is, he's playing like he's hurt.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Yeah, he hasn't made ones fast twitch move since he
- 37:28Speaker 2: hurt his knee. Like he's not the same.
- 37:30Speaker 1: It's hard to get over Wenby too.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Man.
- 37:31Speaker 1: The Wemby dude is a fucking problem dog.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Unfortunately, I don't I don't know the fucking We've had
- 37:39Speaker 2: a time of like let's go, let's go Western Coffs
- 37:41Speaker 2: finals back to back years like let's do this, and
- 37:44Speaker 2: then no one's fucking with the Thunder all their draft
- 37:47Speaker 2: picks I hate. Then the Spurs, I'm like, God damn,
- 37:49Speaker 2: it'sbout to be them.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I'm a Sun's fan, and I'm like, everything's just pointless
- 37:53Speaker 1: for the next like seven years, Like I don't even
- 37:55Speaker 1: know what to do. Like the Thunder, they're never gonna
- 37:57Speaker 1: have to worry about the second Apron because every time
- 38:00Speaker 1: their players get it, they're just gonna trade them and
- 38:01Speaker 1: they're just gonna keep They drafted a J. Mitchell, Who
- 38:04Speaker 1: the fuck is a J.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Mitchell?
- 38:06Speaker 1: Then this fucking douchebag and Philly trades them McCain for
- 38:10Speaker 1: fucking peanuts. Bro, he's just gonna trade lout Dort. They're like, oh, yeah,
- 38:15Speaker 1: we can't.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Pay you forever.
- 38:19Speaker 1: And then the fucking the Spurs. Dylan Harper looks.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Like, oh man, sh yeah, he's so good. Yeah.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I think you guys just gotta figure out, like eventually,
- 38:30Speaker 1: you just gotta like get off of like Rudy go
- 38:32Speaker 1: Bear's contract. I love Rudy, by the way.
- 38:35Speaker 2: His plus minus is still crazy during the regular During
- 38:39Speaker 2: the regular season, Rudy's worth a lot of wins, you know,
- 38:42Speaker 2: what I'm saying. But but he's been getting cooked. We
- 38:44Speaker 2: have this, uh Joanne. He he looks like he could
- 38:50Speaker 2: like and as long as if is super healthy in
- 38:54Speaker 2: the in the postseason, he can go off.
- 38:56Speaker 1: It's just it's just not hav I think Julius I
- 39:00Speaker 1: was a little inconsistent.
- 39:01Speaker 2: He's a great player, and I like him on our team,
- 39:03Speaker 2: but I don't think he's a number two. I don't
- 39:04Speaker 2: think he'd be a number two option on like a
- 39:06Speaker 2: championship caliber team. He could be if he was our
- 39:09Speaker 2: third best player, fourth best player.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Problem is you trade a cat for him, who's your
- 39:12Speaker 1: second best player?
- 39:13Speaker 2: Cat had to go anyways because of the money. Yeah, So,
- 39:16Speaker 2: I mean I think we got a really good haul
- 39:18Speaker 2: for Kat. It was him. Who else? We get Dante?
- 39:21Speaker 2: And yeah, yeah, I think there was a pick too.
- 39:25Speaker 1: So I mean I didn't like the trade, but like
- 39:27Speaker 1: after a while, you're like, are you optimistic? I'm rooting
- 39:30Speaker 1: for the Vikings this year, and because listen, I'm a
- 39:32Speaker 1: Cardinals fan. So you guys got you guys got my
- 39:35Speaker 1: little lf over there.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Now.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw he threw three picks in practice the
- 39:40Speaker 1: other day.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm not I'm not optimistic, not optimistic.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Anything's better than fucking J. J. McCarthy.
- 39:49Speaker 2: We'll see he was he was injured two. I don't
- 39:51Speaker 2: think he you know, we'll see. I'll give I'll give
- 39:53Speaker 2: JJ another year. It's a true it's a competition. What
- 39:56Speaker 2: if he wins out over your guy?
- 39:58Speaker 1: He won't. Kyler's a beast.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Kyler beast.
- 40:02Speaker 1: He's a beast beast. And I think you guys got
- 40:04Speaker 1: to I think you guys have my you guys have
- 40:06Speaker 1: my favorite coach. Once I watched that Quarterbacks on Netflix
- 40:09Speaker 1: and I saw the way him and Kirk Cousins were
- 40:11Speaker 1: working together, I was like, I fuck with this guy.
- 40:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we like him.
- 40:14Speaker 1: Yeah he's solid. Talk to me man, like, uh, you
- 40:18Speaker 1: work with Tea Pain on this this record? Yeah, you
- 40:22Speaker 1: pitch the idea to Pain.
- 40:24Speaker 2: H huh he's in hum Oh yeah, no doubt. He
- 40:27Speaker 2: didn't have no yeah, yeah, we needed something to do
- 40:30Speaker 2: my My original idea for the music video was just
- 40:32Speaker 2: way too expensive and extravagant. I wanted to like, have
- 40:35Speaker 2: it just come. Oh, let me pray for him now
- 40:38Speaker 2: over a ice stout lake with a whole cut in
- 40:42Speaker 2: and I kicked some dude into the.
- 40:43Speaker 1: Whole very Minnesota.
- 40:44Speaker 2: It was just you know, it was a lot. It
- 40:47Speaker 2: was way too expensive. So my idea is, like, what
- 40:49Speaker 2: would be interesting can we do just on one fucking
- 40:52Speaker 2: white psych?
- 40:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 40:55Speaker 2: Or well I think it was on green screen. Yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 2: it's like damn all right, So I think that was
- 40:59Speaker 2: the most we could do. I don't really like, you know,
- 41:02Speaker 2: uh music video shot on green screens and ship, But
- 41:05Speaker 2: for that concept, I think it was the best concept
- 41:07Speaker 2: we could do that to have him in and out,
- 41:08Speaker 2: have me in and out and just had some fun.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Yeah you get whoever did that video, kudos to them.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it's me and uh and Thomas Axment. We just
- 41:17Speaker 2: we bet we've had twenty five videos straight in a row.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Are you having edit or are.
- 41:22Speaker 1: You just giving him the ideas? Like no, no change
- 41:24Speaker 1: his changes? Like are you capable of like using final
- 41:26Speaker 1: cutting ship if I've.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Edited a last video? I mean, I'm familiar with that ship,
- 41:31Speaker 2: but he had he did, he does his.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Cap cut ship is changed in the game dog, Yeah,
- 41:35Speaker 1: fucking cook a whole goddamn joint up on your phone?
- 41:38Speaker 2: You shoot music video right now?
- 41:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of crazy. Who are your goats?
- 41:42Speaker 2: Like?
- 41:42Speaker 1: What is your like you know, top four or five
- 41:45Speaker 1: mcs that you I mean, And I'm not talking about.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Who you think ever publicly said your favorite?
- 41:49Speaker 1: How about your your favorites. I don't want to say
- 41:51Speaker 1: who you think is because I think Jay Z now
- 41:53Speaker 1: damn man, like your personal favorites like I got Pusher
- 41:58Speaker 1: Tea in Freddy Gabs extremely high on my list.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Young Thug is up there for me.
- 42:04Speaker 2: You know, I think as far as like goats like
- 42:06Speaker 2: jay Z, Eminem, I mean, Eminem changed my ship when
- 42:10Speaker 2: he came out with those No one was talking like that.
- 42:12Speaker 2: He just lit up my mind all the these these syllables,
- 42:16Speaker 2: these drastic you know, yeah subject matter. So yeah, I
- 42:22Speaker 2: don't know, it's I don't really have like a lot
- 42:25Speaker 2: of new cats coming up. I like Anderson Park Like,
- 42:27Speaker 2: I like I like that he's super musicality like that
- 42:31Speaker 2: and so like I like to put that into my work.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Yeah, what are you listening to? Like outside of hip hop?
- 42:37Speaker 1: Is there?
- 42:37Speaker 2: Like?
- 42:37Speaker 1: What's your go to?
- 42:38Speaker 2: Like almost to all types of shit? I got. I
- 42:40Speaker 2: got back into Queens of the Stone Age. I'm working
- 42:43Speaker 2: out to them right now. So I but other than that,
- 42:46Speaker 2: I really don't fuck with like rock too much like
- 42:48Speaker 2: contemporary rock. I'm listening to a lot of jazz, a
- 42:51Speaker 2: lot of old jazz like Coltrane, you know, Miles Davis
- 42:56Speaker 2: and shit like that. Like I listen to all types
- 42:58Speaker 2: of shit.
- 42:59Speaker 1: I just been on like seventies rock lately. I know
- 43:01Speaker 1: what it is like lately because I've been smoking a
- 43:03Speaker 1: lot of Fiah, a lot of shrooms, Vibe seventy Rooms
- 43:07Speaker 1: and Floyd one of these nights. You know what I'm saying,
- 43:10Speaker 1: Like Eagles, You know what I mean?
- 43:11Speaker 2: Yeah? Is that what you listen to? Mostly? Like you
- 43:14Speaker 2: listening to like these young rappers? Would you go to
- 43:17Speaker 2: his Spotify and then like give it a play.
- 43:19Speaker 1: I'll show you what I'm listening to. What was I
- 43:21Speaker 1: listening to yesterday? J Cole's album I'm Still Bump right now?
- 43:24Speaker 1: The last song I was listening to his DMX looked
- 43:26Speaker 1: through My Eyes. One of my favorite DMX songs ever, Coyote.
- 43:29Speaker 1: I don't know if you heard of Coyote. They got
- 43:31Speaker 1: a new album, Statics Selected. They're from La two Brothers.
- 43:33Speaker 1: They're incredible. Samar Sin is dope. Have you heard her?
- 43:36Speaker 2: Hmmm?
- 43:37Speaker 1: Samaras Sinuh, Kanye's Bully and I like the new Isaiah
- 43:41Speaker 1: Shot album.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Oh I haven't heard that.
- 43:43Speaker 1: I got to listen to his ship really good. Uh yeah,
- 43:47Speaker 1: see yeah, yeah. I mean I'm still listening to mostly rap.
- 43:50Speaker 1: But if I'm like just cruising, you know who?
- 43:52Speaker 2: I like sung little? Have you heard? He's uh? I
- 43:56Speaker 2: would consider like rock or like blues jazz, whatever. I
- 44:01Speaker 2: don't know, I like some little Yeah. Do you.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Like growing up in Minneapolis in the music scene. Do
- 44:09Speaker 1: you ever have any sort of run ins with Prince
- 44:11Speaker 1: at all?
- 44:12Speaker 2: No, you don't run in. You don't run into Prince.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Like there's stories where like if he makes a decision,
- 44:17Speaker 2: he'll he'll pull up and he'll like he kind of
- 44:21Speaker 2: hit his assistance would go and be like, hey, you
- 44:24Speaker 2: three need to the dorm and you need to lay
- 44:26Speaker 2: down on your stomachs and and Prince will walk out.
- 44:29Speaker 2: You needed to hold an umbrella over and he will
- 44:31Speaker 2: walk on top of you.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Were you ever at one of these events where he
- 44:35Speaker 1: decided to bestow his presence, No, no, no, I felt
- 44:39Speaker 1: like he was kind of doing like the Chappelle thing
- 44:41Speaker 1: there for a little out there where you'd be like, yo, Prince,
- 44:43Speaker 1: he did like some random show.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you would hear, yeah, murmurings of that kind of ship.
- 44:49Speaker 1: But then do you do you like just have to
- 44:53Speaker 1: be a Prince fan growing up in Minneapolis? Like are
- 44:55Speaker 1: you just like yo man princes?
- 44:57Speaker 2: No, no, no, I don't think I mean publicly, you
- 45:01Speaker 2: can't really like diss him and shit like that. But
- 45:03Speaker 2: like no one's going, hey, no one's force feeding you Prince.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Love Prince, but you were a prince Michael Jackson guy
- 45:08Speaker 1: both both. Did you see Michael the movie?
- 45:13Speaker 2: Uh uh, I don't think Michael or Prince was very
- 45:16Speaker 2: well rounded, thoughtful, nice people.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Well I tend to believe that Michael Jackson fuck kids,
- 45:25Speaker 1: So I'm like absolutely, Hey, at the very least, he
- 45:28Speaker 1: spent the night with unaccompanied children in his bedroom.
- 45:33Speaker 2: So that's a wrap, that's all we need.
- 45:38Speaker 1: And he built a theme park in his backyard and.
- 45:42Speaker 2: They found a grip of child porn when they raided
- 45:45Speaker 2: his house.
- 45:45Speaker 1: And I he was tongue punching little dudes.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Buttholes, oh yeah, they all had the same thing about like,
- 45:52Speaker 2: yeah we saw that documentary. We don't really know.
- 45:54Speaker 1: So they filmed the uh this little this empty building
- 45:58Speaker 1: directly next door, same tenant or same or they turned
- 46:01Speaker 1: they painted this whole building next door yellow and turned
- 46:03Speaker 1: it into like a nineteen seventies or eighties Tower Records
- 46:06Speaker 1: for like three days, so we couldn't like, for.
- 46:08Speaker 2: The movie it was shot right there next door.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Oh shit, Tower Records is just this empty autopart store
- 46:13Speaker 1: next door. Oh damn, remember they like shut they shut
- 46:16Speaker 1: down the front of the fucking studio. We couldn't like
- 46:18Speaker 1: have anybody come in and out.
- 46:19Speaker 2: It was like, damn, that's cool. Do you see that?
- 46:21Speaker 2: You see the movie?
- 46:22Speaker 3: No?
- 46:22Speaker 1: No, I honestly I'm I'm like, my wife hates the
- 46:25Speaker 1: fact that I am. She went and saw it with
- 46:28Speaker 1: my son, and my son's like, oh uh dad uh,
- 46:32Speaker 1: I want to get this Michael Jackson shirt. And my
- 46:35Speaker 1: wife is so mad at me because I was like,
- 46:38Speaker 1: Michael Jackson would have loved you, son, No, because my
- 46:42Speaker 1: son's twelve, And I was like, you know, he fucked
- 46:44Speaker 1: the kids, and my son he's on TikTok, you know.
- 46:46Speaker 1: So I my wife was like, why would you ruin
- 46:49Speaker 1: that for him? I'm like, well he was at he
- 46:52Speaker 1: was a fucking creep. Yeah, and were whitewashing Joe Jackson
- 46:56Speaker 1: like he wasn't a fucking abusive dad who beat his
- 46:59Speaker 1: kid in the being a child molester man.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Everyone had everyone had stories like that, like everyone was
- 47:05Speaker 2: fucked up.
- 47:06Speaker 3: It was crazy.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Only now are people trying to.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Jackson is currently walking around with the head Man.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I've seen some good memes on him lately.
- 47:19Speaker 1: What are we doing all right? Who else is on
- 47:21Speaker 1: the album?
- 47:22Speaker 2: Well Ship forty? Uh? That Mexican t two Chains the.

- 47:35Speaker 2: dudes from Ireland England? Yeah?
- 47:37Speaker 3: Are they from England?
- 47:38Speaker 1: The two like old Bruhs?
- 47:39Speaker 2: Who?
- 47:40Speaker 1: Yeah? How do you get them?
- 47:42Speaker 2: I don't know? Management? Maybe mutual connection.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Wow, they're fucking awesome.
- 47:48Speaker 2: Yeah. They fucking killed that ship too, dude.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Do you think people write for them?
- 47:53Speaker 2: I can't. I don't know. I don't want to. I
- 47:55Speaker 2: don't want to. I don't know, I don't I don't wanna.
- 47:57Speaker 2: I'm just gonna assume. I like to obviously.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I just like their whole thing.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Just assume that they're writing.
- 48:04Speaker 1: It's just so good And I'm like, Yo, who was there?
- 48:08Speaker 1: I want to meet the bru behind the Bruhs.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Don't nobody that age know those slang.
- 48:15Speaker 1: Dude, I'm like, I just want to shake the guy's
- 48:17Speaker 1: hand who's behind the guys and be like yo, I
- 48:20Speaker 1: don't know if those guys were like best friends already
- 48:22Speaker 1: and they're like, look, I got an idea, Like where
- 48:24Speaker 1: about that? I'm let me show you how to get

- 48:32Speaker 1: of it, Like whoever is the guy behind? The guy
- 48:35Speaker 1: is running it out even if.
- 48:36Speaker 2: They don't, even if they don't bro like, they are
- 48:38Speaker 2: on pace, they got the they're hitting trips.
- 48:42Speaker 1: It sounds so good.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Yeah, they sound like they've been doing it for eighty years.
- 48:48Speaker 1: Have you met him?
- 48:49Speaker 2: No, but they are open to a music video.
- 48:52Speaker 1: That's what you gotta get on. You gotta get on
- 48:54Speaker 1: the plane for that's that's where you have to do
- 48:56Speaker 1: the video.
- 48:56Speaker 2: I know. But if I'm over there, I got a
- 48:58Speaker 2: tour because this dude's been in my Instagram every single
- 49:00Speaker 2: day for the almost nine hundred days, every single post,
- 49:05Speaker 2: posting every day till you come to the UK day
- 49:07Speaker 2: eight hundred and seventy eight right now and he and
- 49:10Speaker 2: he is every day.
- 49:12Speaker 1: He's said in a comment, m h all right, you
- 49:14Speaker 1: got the old Bruhs on there, forty.
- 49:18Speaker 2: Chain ot ot oh yeah, John Ray, Local Cat just
- 49:25Speaker 2: a real quick appearance. T Pain. Yeah. Man, we got
- 49:29Speaker 2: some great features on it. What a great album, Yes, yeah, yeah,
- 49:33Speaker 2: it's it's a really good album. That's the best album
- 49:37Speaker 2: I've ever made. I think it's one of the best.
- 49:38Speaker 2: I think it would be one of the best records
- 49:40Speaker 2: of the year. Comes out June twenty sixth, and if
- 49:42Speaker 2: you buy a CD the lowest point of entry, I
- 49:45Speaker 2: will sign it and you can get a piece of history. Bro.
- 49:48Speaker 2: We have a chance to have the number one rap
- 49:50Speaker 2: record in the entire world. It's selling like that. Wow, yeah,
- 49:55Speaker 2: that's awesome.
- 49:57Speaker 1: And like basically you know what I love. I love
- 50:00Speaker 1: like you know when I when you see the homies
- 50:04Speaker 1: drop and like you'll I'm I like any anytime any
- 50:06Speaker 1: of my friends drop, I was like, like, all right,
- 50:08Speaker 1: where they end up on SoundScan, you know, but I
- 50:10Speaker 1: just love to see the units actually sold, be like crazy. Yeah,
- 50:16Speaker 1: jelly Roll was number two the week he dropped, or
- 50:20Speaker 1: you know, he beat Rod Wave, but he was battling
- 50:23Speaker 1: with rod Wave because rod Wave streams like fucking crazy.
- 50:26Speaker 1: But Jelly Row's sow like one hundred and five thousand
- 50:29Speaker 1: physical units.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Oh that shit don't happen.
- 50:31Speaker 1: I'm not doing that, and I'm like, yo, like that's crazy,
- 50:35Speaker 1: Like you know, like I.
- 50:37Speaker 2: Think the only reason I'm doing so many units is
- 50:38Speaker 2: they can have a free signature of like a moment
- 50:40Speaker 2: in time that history, so all my fans will get
- 50:42Speaker 2: that shit.
- 50:42Speaker 1: So how long have you been like like has the
- 50:45Speaker 1: pre orders been available? Because that's the other thing, like
- 50:47Speaker 1: you're giving yourself like a runway to like.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Hey, yeah, order the album. I still want discovery. I
- 50:51Speaker 2: still want people to discover me and shit, so I'm
- 50:53Speaker 2: not like so big I can just drop out of
- 50:54Speaker 2: nowhere and have that, like do work for me.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Are the vinyls already done? No?
- 50:59Speaker 2: But they're close.
- 51:01Speaker 1: That's another thing. People fuck up. They'll be like Yo, vinyls,
- 51:04Speaker 1: don't worry, guys, Vinyls will be out six months because
- 51:07Speaker 1: we're a last minute with all these Yeah.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Sometimes I wish he would do that. I'm like, man,
- 51:13Speaker 2: let's just go now, Like this record is taking so long.
- 51:15Speaker 2: There's old songs on this record. But it's like me
- 51:18Speaker 2: and him working on everything and he wants to do
- 51:20Speaker 2: it the right way business wise, and I want to
- 51:22Speaker 2: do it the right way artistically. That you know, it
- 51:24Speaker 2: just takes a while.
- 51:26Speaker 1: How do you end up doing a song with Kevin Gates?
- 51:28Speaker 1: Another very random?
- 51:30Speaker 2: Oh Jet, that's dude. You know Adam Straul, I know
- 51:32Speaker 2: the name, I don't know. He was with us? And
- 51:35Speaker 2: where do we last see each other? On stage?
- 51:36Speaker 1: Dilated People's in Phoenix at a reggae festival.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Boom, Holy shit, your fucking rain man over here? There
- 51:45Speaker 2: was forty seven people on stage backstage for.
- 51:48Speaker 1: Was that weird reggae festival? I think was last year
- 51:50Speaker 1: with Dilated?
- 51:52Speaker 2: Oh yeah, we were watching with kleiefand yeah yeah, yeah,
- 51:54Speaker 2: yah uh. He was there with us, so I think
- 51:57Speaker 2: he's yeah, it was just it was just some business shit.
- 52:00Speaker 1: But is it?
- 52:01Speaker 3: Is it?
- 52:02Speaker 1: Are you still like super down to like pay for
- 52:04Speaker 1: a feature at this point or is most of the
- 52:06Speaker 1: stuff you're doing like yo, I like, well.
- 52:08Speaker 2: It depends. I like I love to pay someone, to
- 52:14Speaker 2: be able to pay someone too, like to show them
- 52:16Speaker 2: my appreciation. So yeah, I don't know. I mean, if
- 52:22Speaker 2: it's a homie. We're gonna make like an album together,
- 52:24Speaker 2: like a three song EP for a song EP. Well
- 52:26Speaker 2: just all right, let's go half and half or whatever.
- 52:28Speaker 2: But you know, like I'm I'll take I'll take bride
- 52:30Speaker 2: and being able to be like what would you like?
- 52:32Speaker 2: You know?
- 52:32Speaker 1: And then you know, also I feel like to like
- 52:35Speaker 1: it's a good look to have you on a song.
- 52:37Speaker 1: It's like, yo, come into this world.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Yeah it'll be it'll be good for you. Yeah, O
- 52:41Speaker 2: t keep on being like damn, man, I didn't know
- 52:44Speaker 2: like what I was stepping into. And he's very uh
- 52:47Speaker 2: appreciative of being on a big dog too.
- 52:49Speaker 1: So do you have anybody who you would want to
- 52:52Speaker 1: do like a little banger of an EP with at
- 52:54Speaker 1: this point that you haven't worked with yet? Oh?
- 52:56Speaker 2: Yeah, tons, I don't know. A little bang that's it.
- 52:59Speaker 1: That's within like really you know, like I don't know.
- 53:02Speaker 1: I feel like you and yellowf would be a funny
- 53:03Speaker 1: p mmmm.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Yeah I funk with that.
- 53:09Speaker 1: We I mean, we just spent a month together, a
- 53:11Speaker 1: couple of whites rapping.
- 53:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it might get too powerful, man, I don't know,
- 53:16Speaker 2: remind me too much.
- 53:17Speaker 1: You got to bring the South and the North together.
- 53:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's there.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Just there's two pockets of rap fans just coming together.
- 53:31Speaker 2: Here forming like Vultron, the ultimate white rap record.
- 53:37Speaker 1: That'd be dope, though.
- 53:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm with them. I've already made a couple
- 53:41Speaker 2: of songs with them. We could throw that on there already.
- 53:43Speaker 2: We made some old joints. Have you ever heard anything
- 53:45Speaker 2: song me and him? We got a couple from way
- 53:48Speaker 2: back in the day.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Yeah, so you guys, you guys already have that relationship?
- 53:52Speaker 1: Was a do you feel like when it comes to
- 53:55Speaker 1: hip hop? Is would you consider like slug like the
- 53:59Speaker 1: goat of Minneapolis when it comes to the rap?
- 54:02Speaker 2: Shit? Nah?
- 54:03Speaker 1: Who is the goat?
- 54:04Speaker 3: Me?
- 54:05Speaker 2: You? Yeah?
- 54:06Speaker 1: Okay, fair enough? I respect it. Yeah? What about like,
- 54:11Speaker 1: because there's so many other underappreciated guys, I feel like
- 54:14Speaker 1: Adam Minneapolis. Who do you feel like the doesn't get
- 54:17Speaker 1: enough flowers? Like nationally?
- 54:20Speaker 2: Well? Shit, probably the north Side right now. There's so
- 54:23Speaker 2: many out of the north Side right now, black rappers
- 54:25Speaker 2: out the north side of Minneapolis. Yeah, killing it. I
- 54:28Speaker 2: just wish there was more, Like I don't know, I
- 54:31Speaker 2: don't know how to get it done anymore. But there's
- 54:34Speaker 2: fucking John Ray's going crazy, Prince Riley's dope. Man, I
- 54:38Speaker 2: don't want to miss anybody now. Now I'm just gonna
- 54:40Speaker 2: go off the slope and everyone's gonna be like, you
- 54:41Speaker 2: didn't say me, Pete will yet. Man, there's so many,
- 54:46Speaker 2: but there's a lot of underappreciated rappers out of the
- 54:49Speaker 2: North side of Minneapolis right now.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Is the vibe between Saint Paul and Minneapolis like super different?
- 54:53Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, because.
- 54:54Speaker 1: I lived in Tampa and they have Saint Petersburg and
- 54:57Speaker 1: Tampa and it's very different. It's like there's like each
- 55:00Speaker 1: each side has got its own thing going, you know
- 55:02Speaker 1: what I'm saying.
- 55:03Speaker 2: Yeah, people, Twins cities for real, there ain't ship to
- 55:06Speaker 2: do like life and Saint Paul's like sleepier got their
- 55:11Speaker 2: ship together a little bit more like I don't know,
- 55:14Speaker 2: like Minneapolis is like the rock star number one and
- 55:17Speaker 2: Saint Paul.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Is like I spent a weekend there. I only went once.
- 55:21Speaker 1: I almost started working at GO ninety five to three.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeahs was on there. It was when Peter
- 55:28Speaker 1: Parker first launched the station. Oh yeah, and uh they
- 55:32Speaker 1: had a cool thing going, and I think like the
- 55:34Speaker 1: brothers who owned the Twins owned the stations. So like
- 55:37Speaker 1: we got them doing the interview and they're like, hey,
- 55:39Speaker 1: you want to walk across the street to the Twins game?
- 55:41Speaker 1: And I was like, I mean they're like no that
- 55:44Speaker 1: I don't think to understand. Like we're like we we're
- 55:45Speaker 1: like technically employees of the Twins. Like over here, like
- 55:48Speaker 1: buzzing into the That was a.
- 55:49Speaker 2: Cool gig bro like that was a great place. They
- 55:52Speaker 2: spent a lot of money on that. That was a
- 55:53Speaker 2: pole lad whoever owns the Twins.
- 55:54Speaker 1: And pole Ax, Yeah, such a great station too. They
- 55:57Speaker 1: were playing something, they were doing it.
- 55:58Speaker 2: And they gave uh pete like power to play a
- 56:03Speaker 2: lot of things. Are doing it the right way? Yeah,
- 56:05Speaker 2: and then but it was just like radio which was dying.
- 56:09Speaker 2: Yeah anyways, so even their deep pocketed asses couldn't do nothing.
- 56:12Speaker 1: That's how I got put on the Lizzo. I was
- 56:13Speaker 1: in town and like, what's her DJ's name, Sophia Sophia
- 56:18Speaker 1: Harris was telling me like, yeah, she was like a
- 56:21Speaker 1: DJ for a Lizzo And I was like, I don't
- 56:22Speaker 1: know who that is. And I was like, oh, she's lit.
- 56:25Speaker 1: But this was like twenty fuck twenty.
- 56:29Speaker 2: Sixteen, fifteen sixteen, seventeen something like that, something like that.
- 56:32Speaker 1: What a time an All right, So the new album's
- 56:33Speaker 1: coming out in June. Yeah, June twenty sixth, and uh yeah,
- 56:38Speaker 1: got a lot of videos in the can. They're all
- 56:40Speaker 1: done now, man, we have I'm sitting on fucking content.
- 56:43Speaker 1: I could fucking I'm gonna go move to Vietnam and
- 56:47Speaker 1: you're still gonna be seeing me. I have a buddy
- 56:48Speaker 1: named Eric le Rock currently in Vietnam.
- 56:50Speaker 2: I fuck with Vietnam heavy. I spent eighteen days in Vietnam.
- 56:53Speaker 1: Did you I heard it's very cheap.
- 56:55Speaker 2: It's amazing.
- 56:56Speaker 1: I love the food, really good food. Day eighteen days.
- 56:59Speaker 1: What were you up to where it? Just like I
- 57:01Speaker 1: just want to get it like because people will like
- 57:03Speaker 1: literally go there and just unplug from the world.
- 57:05Speaker 2: Yes, that's the place I will when I travel. I
- 57:07Speaker 2: don't want to go back to no place because the
- 57:09Speaker 2: earth is too big. Of course, I go back to Vietnam.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Was it what's the name of that beach town? I
- 57:14Speaker 1: heard the Psycho vibe. There's like a beach city there
- 57:16Speaker 1: that's popular. I forget what it's called, but it's it's
- 57:19Speaker 1: it's it's sexy, bro like And I heard.
- 57:21Speaker 2: You get like Hanoi Saigon they like to all the
- 57:25Speaker 2: locals still called Saigon and what it's hoped you in.
- 57:27Speaker 1: What's your favorite country you've been to.
- 57:29Speaker 2: America?
- 57:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean you were born here.
- 57:32Speaker 2: I mean I'm not really that well traveled.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Oh you know, never did Thailand.
- 57:37Speaker 2: No, I just it was just Vietnam. I would do
- 57:40Speaker 2: a little Cambodia Thailand type of loop.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Thailand is the most coolest dynamic country I've ever been to.
- 57:48Speaker 2: I think Vietnam is like people compare a lot, but
- 57:52Speaker 2: I think Vietnam doesn't have like the traffic yet.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Yeah, because you could go to Bangkok and it's like
- 57:56Speaker 1: being in New York City. But then if you go
