Transcript
- 0:18Speaker 1: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Sunday evening. We are living
- 0:27Speaker 1: in Groundhog Day for the seventy eighth time. Saw that
- 0:31Speaker 1: on Twitter, thought that was funny. We're here twenty eight
- 0:36Speaker 1: twenty USC takes down Nebraska and we are still awaiting
- 0:45Speaker 1: the Big one to get to a bowl game in
- 0:48Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. As the graphic on the TV showed
- 0:51Speaker 1: us in the second half, we are the longest Power
- 0:55Speaker 1: Four team and it's not even close of a team
- 0:59Speaker 1: that has not made a bowl game.
- 1:01Speaker 2: And who's second closest.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I can't remember someone I think with five, but they
- 1:06Speaker 1: made it this year already.
- 1:08Speaker 3: Well, the main thing is this game got out of
- 1:11Speaker 3: that fun less You guys have of one score.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Games, Oh, just like every other one has.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they see there's one win on that list.
- 1:20Speaker 4: There's a graph of like teams with one score of losses,
- 1:24Speaker 4: and we've had thirty five in the last six years
- 1:27Speaker 4: or something ridiculous and the next closest is twenty five.
- 1:30Speaker 4: We have ten more than the next closest school. It's
- 1:33Speaker 4: pretty wild.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Rules record out in one score games I believe as
- 1:37Speaker 1: its worst win percentage. Now it's gott Frost. It was
- 1:41Speaker 1: just the king of one score losses.
- 1:45Speaker 4: Quite there yet, I'm not ready to throw that one
- 1:47Speaker 4: out there, because Frost lost twenty five, Rules only lost nine.
- 1:51Speaker 1: So you know we're well on our way there, We
- 1:54Speaker 1: are well on our way. Oh and Edward talking, Wisconsin's
- 1:58Speaker 1: offensive coordinator fill Ago has been fired.
- 2:02Speaker 3: Really nogay, So back to back, back to back weeks.
- 2:07Speaker 3: You don't know what the offense is gonna look like.
- 2:08Speaker 3: There you go that you're playing great. I did see
- 2:13Speaker 3: a tweet earlier, and I don't know how they measured this,
- 2:16Speaker 3: something about Rules lost nine nine games, trying to make
- 2:22Speaker 3: a bowl game or something like that. First first time
- 2:24Speaker 3: being head coach with a team records eleven, so we
- 2:28Speaker 3: can tie it.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Yep.
- 2:29Speaker 2: By in the year, you might be tied. Got waited
- 2:30Speaker 2: all off season to break that.
- 2:33Speaker 1: And I would say we were probably favored to do that.
- 2:36Speaker 1: But recent opening line, we are favored by one and
- 2:40Speaker 1: a half against Wisconsin. Now that is before this news.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I'm not sure if this news will change it at all.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Maybe it'll change it. I don't even know, Maybe it
- 2:47Speaker 1: would go one way or the other, if any so
- 2:50Speaker 1: we are favored at home. That's I guess the big
- 2:54Speaker 1: news from today, but this week or yesterday, we have
- 2:58Speaker 1: a game to talk about. For as much as we
- 3:00Speaker 1: want to talk about it, I believe it. In this
- 3:05Speaker 1: my introduction to my thoughts, there was good and bad
- 3:13Speaker 1: and a lot of stuff out there that I really
- 3:17Speaker 1: don't care about. And I would feel like most analysis
- 3:23Speaker 1: or thoughts about the game that you hear from everybody,
- 3:26Speaker 1: and I don't know. I mean, I made myself listen
- 3:29Speaker 1: or not made myself drive home in the silence after
- 3:31Speaker 1: the game yesterday because I just don't want to listen
- 3:34Speaker 1: to radio just so. I was this one hurt probably
- 3:38Speaker 1: more than others. I don't know why, Like I didn't
- 3:41Speaker 1: expect to win. Something about the game made it hurt
- 3:44Speaker 1: a little more than some of the others. So we
- 3:47Speaker 1: can talk about why that is. But anyways, I think
- 3:49Speaker 1: all of our comments, our thoughts, our conversation today we're
- 3:52Speaker 1: going to kind of categorize and move it into one
- 3:54Speaker 1: of those good what was good, what was bad? And
- 3:57Speaker 1: what stuff that we truly just don't care about, because
- 4:00Speaker 1: obviously a lot of little things that we can talk about,
- 4:01Speaker 1: we can get big picture with it too. I mean,
- 4:05Speaker 1: my first general comment is bad and it's just obvious.
- 4:11Speaker 1: We lost, and it sucks. That's just bad. It just
- 4:17Speaker 1: it just hurts it it Uh, it was not a
- 4:21Speaker 1: fun one to swallow. The way that game went from
- 4:24Speaker 1: from start to finish. Obviously, the range of outcomes, as
- 4:28Speaker 1: we talked about last week, was very low and very high,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and we landed at basically what Vegas predicted, right the spread,
- 4:37Speaker 1: pretty much right at the total, and I guess we
- 4:41Speaker 1: landed right where it was supposed to according to the money.
- 4:45Speaker 1: But but we lost, like that's number one thing bad.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Somehow we lost in Colorado one.
- 4:59Speaker 2: It just yeah, Carlson the driver's seat, now the Big twelve, let's.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Just talk about Colorado the rest of the time.
- 5:08Speaker 4: I'd really talk about to lose and talking about Colorado win.
- 5:14Speaker 4: I mean, I agree, that was one of my things
- 5:16Speaker 4: I had.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Is just bad.
- 5:17Speaker 4: Another one score loss came down the field some frustrating.
- 5:23Speaker 4: I guess what your guys' opinion on the time management
- 5:26Speaker 4: on that last drive we had two timeouts. We ended
- 5:28Speaker 4: the game with two timeouts in her pocket or throw
- 5:31Speaker 4: it somewhere bad? Mm hmm, it was.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Throw it somewhere, said.
- 5:42Speaker 2: That's all. It's bad.
- 5:43Speaker 3: It's like, I don't know why they It felt like
- 5:45Speaker 3: they were trying to hold on those timeouts. I'm like,
- 5:48Speaker 3: you're gonna go home with two time outs in your pocket. Now,
- 5:51Speaker 3: we'll get to the main part of that drive later on.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I'm guessing that.
- 5:55Speaker 1: But luck management piece, I think is a big topic
- 5:57Speaker 1: of conversation have been for Matt Rule.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Struggle.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it it's bad. I'm gonna defend Roll a little bit.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I don't know that it's as bad as everybody makes
- 6:10Speaker 1: it that everybody else it means as Rules is the
- 6:13Speaker 1: worst clock manager ever. I don't think he's good, and
- 6:16Speaker 1: I would say I would still put this probably in
- 6:18Speaker 1: how the game went into bad I agree. I think
- 6:21Speaker 1: Rule though is very it is simplistic, which is probably
- 6:27Speaker 1: bad due in those situations, but very like he thinks,
- 6:32Speaker 1: like at the end of the first half, that was
- 6:34Speaker 1: one clock management thing on the timeout and how they
- 6:36Speaker 1: were I think he had the right idea. He was like, Okay,
- 6:39Speaker 1: we're gonna try to go score unless this happens. Okay,
- 6:41Speaker 1: that didn't happen, We're not going to go score. The
- 6:43Speaker 1: other clock management thing, the timeout that we took on
- 6:48Speaker 1: fourth and three from about midfield and we are up
- 6:50Speaker 1: one or down one with a chance to go and
- 6:53Speaker 1: make a field goal, lined up in a fake punt,
- 6:56Speaker 1: didn't like the alignment, called the timeout, came out, look
- 6:59Speaker 1: to go for it, and took the delay game, which
- 7:01Speaker 1: then left us left us with one less time out
- 7:04Speaker 1: to use at the end of the game, and then
- 7:05Speaker 1: we really didn't use him at the end of the
- 7:06Speaker 1: game a lot there. But I think he varies one
- 7:12Speaker 1: dimensional and he talks like it too. Think about his
- 7:14Speaker 1: press conference after the game when he explained it, He's like,
- 7:19Speaker 1: we didn't like the alignment. Have you Has anybody ever
- 7:21Speaker 1: heard a coach talk about something like that, like if
- 7:24Speaker 1: you're going to go for it, Like he's like, we're
- 7:27Speaker 1: gonna go for if we have this, Like, well, we
- 7:29Speaker 1: didn't have that look, so we didn't do it. How
- 7:32Speaker 1: about you have looks for like three different things, right,
- 7:36Speaker 1: have a play ready if they come out in this,
- 7:38Speaker 1: if they come out in this, if they come in
- 7:39Speaker 1: this year creative enough you have your game plan is
- 7:42Speaker 1: surrounded around multiple options based on the defense and this once.
- 7:46Speaker 1: So that's might like the other side of it, but
- 7:48Speaker 1: I think he is very just one dimensional thinking when
- 7:54Speaker 1: it comes to clock management and game management. I think
- 7:56Speaker 1: that hurts him, but I don't think it's as bad
- 7:59Speaker 1: given what he's trying to do with the players that
- 8:04Speaker 1: we have.
- 8:05Speaker 4: I agree. I don't mind the taking the time out
- 8:07Speaker 4: with the clock manager. I didn't I would have done
- 8:10Speaker 4: it differently, but I wasn't upset about it. It was at
- 8:13Speaker 4: the end of the game, like if there's a moment
- 8:15Speaker 4: during the game where I'm like, why are we not
- 8:17Speaker 4: taking a time out, I know something's not going well
- 8:20Speaker 4: because I shouldn't have that feeling. Ever, But there was
- 8:23Speaker 4: like a minute and four seconds left that where we
- 8:24Speaker 4: got a first down or we were just short of
- 8:27Speaker 4: a first down, and then we run the ball and
- 8:33Speaker 4: we got the first down, but we didn't take the
- 8:35Speaker 4: time out, and we still set up when we burned
- 8:36Speaker 4: like seven seconds off the clock and now we're somehow
- 8:40Speaker 4: we made it down. I was like forty seven seconds
- 8:42Speaker 4: left and we still had half the field to go,
- 8:44Speaker 4: and it's just like, what are we doing? We still
- 8:46Speaker 4: have two timeouts. Don't wait until we get to the
- 8:48Speaker 4: last twenty seconds to try to use two timeouts because
- 8:52Speaker 4: you're not gonna have enough time to It was frustrating.
- 8:55Speaker 4: So that was bad exactly.
- 8:57Speaker 1: I will say this. Did we ever think anybody think
- 9:00Speaker 1: that we were going to score on that last drive?
- 9:03Speaker 1: Like that just sucks? Like but I was like, well,
- 9:07Speaker 1: someone in the room that I was in, I was like,
- 9:09Speaker 1: what's the percent chance of winning this game? I'm like,
- 9:12Speaker 1: do we have one? And I don't know? And we
- 9:15Speaker 1: had some good things somewhat on that drive.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Dak So I didn't listen to that part you just
- 9:21Speaker 3: said the press cont was he meaning like the defensive look?
- 9:25Speaker 2: He was mainly worried about.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Whenever we lined up, because we aligned up in a
- 9:29Speaker 1: fake punt and if they gave us a look they
- 9:32Speaker 1: were going to run the fake punt. They didn't line
- 9:34Speaker 1: up that way, so we called the time out. Then
- 9:36Speaker 1: we came out with our offense. We had a look ready.
- 9:40Speaker 1: If they were a certain way we were going to
- 9:42Speaker 1: go for it. They were in it, and then we
- 9:44Speaker 1: just took a delay a game and then punted it.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Well, okay, that's what you do a certain thing called
- 9:52Speaker 3: audible there, but but.
- 9:54Speaker 2: I guess so, yeah, that goes in the bat.
- 9:56Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. It was a very one dimensional thinking.
- 9:59Speaker 1: There's not multiple watch on what we're doing. It, Like
- 10:01Speaker 1: what I've heard people say, if you're gonna go for it,
- 10:03Speaker 1: go for it.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Like yeah, you like, you just gotta go.
- 10:05Speaker 3: It doesn't matter what defense will move around, Like there's
- 10:09Speaker 3: there's not even high shot they're gonna sticking what they
- 10:10Speaker 3: come out in the begin with, like they'll move with
- 10:13Speaker 3: or audible their defense too. But yeah, I put that
- 10:15Speaker 3: in the back category. I don't know what the heck
- 10:17Speaker 3: he was thinking there going out that last drive though.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I just you had a couple of deep hosses. But
- 10:23Speaker 3: I feel like they're running like a drive and they
- 10:25Speaker 3: didn't know they had that little time left. Like I
- 10:28Speaker 3: feel like they kept slowly trying to move down the field.
- 10:33Speaker 3: So the last I mean last drive itself, I get it. It
- 10:38Speaker 3: was a little frustrating. This is a cat I threw.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I almost do that last drive in itself and kind
- 10:42Speaker 1: of like a I don't really care, Like, yeah, it
- 10:47Speaker 1: would have been nice if certain things change, but again,
- 10:50Speaker 1: it's so hard to do anyone likest Obviously we're not
- 10:53Speaker 1: good at doing it anyways, But we actually got the
- 10:56Speaker 1: ball down and the like we a lot of those
- 11:00Speaker 1: drives on that chart of one score possessions, we don't
- 11:03Speaker 1: even do that. We don't even get close to that spot.
- 11:07Speaker 2: You don't, you don't care what you don't know that drive.
- 11:13Speaker 4: I think he says that because he knew the drive
- 11:14Speaker 4: was going to fail, okay, and the defense knows exactly
- 11:20Speaker 4: what they're going for.
- 11:21Speaker 1: The reputations weren't high, and and we did some good
- 11:25Speaker 1: things on it, and we obviously didn't win. I like,
- 11:28Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not, I don't. I'm not saying that
- 11:29Speaker 1: drive was I wasn't a bad drive. I think there's
- 11:32Speaker 1: some things that could have been better in it, but
- 11:34Speaker 1: I don't think like looking at that last drive going
- 11:36Speaker 1: oh god, damn it, that's why we lost the game. Like, no,
- 11:38Speaker 1: we were down eight with two minutes to go and
- 11:40Speaker 1: had no time outs, like or two time outs.
- 11:44Speaker 2: A home with two time out in their pocket, I
- 11:46Speaker 2: can't remember they used it.
- 11:46Speaker 4: I think they took one more at the end, one more.
- 11:49Speaker 2: So.
- 11:50Speaker 1: I guess there were some things that could have gotten better,
- 11:52Speaker 1: but there were some good things there. I just that
- 11:54Speaker 1: that drive. I heard some people complaining about where the
- 11:57Speaker 1: ball was thrown on the last play. I'm like, like,
- 12:00Speaker 1: first to who it was and keep it double covered.
- 12:02Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't care, Like it was fourth and seventeen.
- 12:05Speaker 1: You have to get the ball to the end zone
- 12:07Speaker 1: under pressure, and tell me who would you throw it
- 12:10Speaker 1: to on our team are we throwing the ball to?
- 12:14Speaker 1: And doesn't like it's banks. You have to like it's banks,
- 12:20Speaker 1: you're not throwing to they, or you're not throwing it
- 12:22Speaker 1: to Fidoni. Fidone probably wouldn't even have made it to
- 12:24Speaker 1: the end.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Zone enough time to get down there.
- 12:28Speaker 1: I just I don't know. I so I get in
- 12:31Speaker 1: that last play like whatever, Like I'm not complaining about
- 12:33Speaker 1: what happened, but what the play call was, Hey, Austin
- 12:38Speaker 1: got another thing game copic.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Oh yes, good another pick six? That's two And I
- 12:46Speaker 4: couldn't even tell you the last time we had them
- 12:48Speaker 4: before this year. So and it was like actually returned.
- 12:52Speaker 4: It wasn't like, you know, Tommy Hills was from like
- 12:54Speaker 4: the ten yard line. That's when there's an actual return
- 12:57Speaker 4: to it. So shout out right. It actually looked really
- 13:01Speaker 4: freaking good this year.
- 13:02Speaker 1: That was awesome. And I thought that that his pick
- 13:06Speaker 1: six is then I've put him in good the good
- 13:10Speaker 1: category and good for him. Awesome. The blocks field goal
- 13:14Speaker 1: I was to the pick six two is very well blocked.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Surprisingly too. That was awesome. Like again, doing it against
- 13:21Speaker 1: your former team, your home, that's cool.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Like it.
- 13:26Speaker 1: I was like, we're gonna win this game because things
- 13:28Speaker 1: like this are happening, Like this is like story is
- 13:30Speaker 1: like a storyline. Now people like the storyline of us
- 13:33Speaker 1: losing by one score better. But it was good like
- 13:37Speaker 1: it was. That was awesome, That was fun.
- 13:39Speaker 4: It was entertaining, to say the least, good for a moment.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yep, well, hell, I've got another bad category here.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Throw it out.
- 13:55Speaker 2: That crowd showing see that is embarrassing.
- 13:57Speaker 4: The rose bolt did.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Look what in that which they've They've always been fair
- 14:02Speaker 3: weather fans, but they showed it right a kick out,
- 14:04Speaker 3: like you've got to kidd me. Hey, I think they
- 14:06Speaker 3: might have more Huscar fans too. But still that place
- 14:09Speaker 3: was not even half full, so that I expected it.
- 14:12Speaker 1: But I'm I'm throwing it good because Nebraska showed out
- 14:16Speaker 1: and you could hear them like, well they yet true.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I th I threw that there, which is also a
- 14:20Speaker 1: bad for USC.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I guess so that should be good.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I will say USC, it sounds like they did
- 14:29Speaker 1: show up and you never really saw a good pan
- 14:31Speaker 1: in the stadium. Later, but from what it sounds like.
- 14:34Speaker 1: There were still eighty to ninety thousand people that showed
- 14:36Speaker 1: up at the start of the game. It was empty
- 14:40Speaker 1: like that was embarrassing and it was funny, Like I
- 14:42Speaker 1: was like, what is going on? They did show up, though,
- 14:45Speaker 1: it just took late to get in there. But you're right,
- 14:47Speaker 1: it's that. It's the the care of football and in
- 14:50Speaker 1: the middle of Los Angeles is very different.
- 14:55Speaker 3: A lot of ten teams, So yeah, U c l
- 15:00Speaker 3: a the same thing.
- 15:01Speaker 2: If they're bad, no one shows up to the other
- 15:02Speaker 2: games either, like I expected that.
- 15:04Speaker 1: But yeah, and we can't blame this loss on me
- 15:08Speaker 1: going They're right, you were going to I thought this
- 15:12Speaker 1: was going to Iowa. Though, guys, I'm going to Iowa. Hunter,
- 15:18Speaker 1: it's already decided locked in.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Mhm uh.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Okay, we have we can't go this long without bringing
- 15:28Speaker 1: this up. And this is the real reason that gets
- 15:33Speaker 1: hurts so much. And I think I have a justification
- 15:38Speaker 1: for it, but it's definitely a bad just because of
- 15:40Speaker 1: how it makes you feel. I counted four mised interception opportunities,
- 15:49Speaker 1: a couple of them, like you do. It's the ball
- 15:51Speaker 1: just doesn't ball just bounces stupid.
- 15:53Speaker 4: I don't want to say we're unlucky, because that's not
- 15:56Speaker 4: like that's like kind of a but there were so
- 15:58Speaker 4: many times where it's like Hertzog's right there and it's
- 16:03Speaker 4: like his hands were that one in the it's that one.
- 16:07Speaker 1: And there's the picture on the one in the end
- 16:09Speaker 1: zone actual with where their USC receiver got a hand
- 16:16Speaker 1: on it and tipped it and it would have been
- 16:18Speaker 1: in complete passing. They would have punt him. But after
- 16:19Speaker 1: the tip it drills our guy in the helmet and
- 16:21Speaker 1: then ends up in his arms to get to like
- 16:24Speaker 1: so that happens. We have early on in the game
- 16:27Speaker 1: that Tommy Hill like basically misjudging the ball and I
- 16:30Speaker 1: mean my eva just threw it up there and the
- 16:34Speaker 1: guy caught at the six yard line. The next play
- 16:35Speaker 1: they scored. There's actually one before all of these, like
- 16:40Speaker 1: on the first drive where Hartzog tried to jump a pass.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It was after the pick six. I think we got
- 16:46Speaker 1: jumpy on a third It was another third down and
- 16:49Speaker 1: the guy caught it and got a first down on it.
- 16:51Speaker 4: He was right there like it was almost.
- 16:57Speaker 1: It's bad in the that's what oh, and then I
- 17:00Speaker 1: guess the other part. Then then on the flip side.
- 17:03Speaker 1: When the ball gets tipped around on our last drive
- 17:06Speaker 1: in the end zone, it's just out of reach. So
- 17:13Speaker 1: again Rule said it too. He was good about it.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Yet's call it snake bitten. Cake called him money and
- 17:18Speaker 1: I'm not saying it was unlucky. My justification behind it though,
- 17:21Speaker 1: then I just keep kind of coming to him and
- 17:22Speaker 1: Marle says it, Frost has said it, and it brings
- 17:25Speaker 1: up the question over and over. But it's hard to
- 17:28Speaker 1: because Nebraska fans like to hype up everybody on our team.
- 17:32Speaker 1: You have to have players. And when you say players
- 17:35Speaker 1: make plays, okay, you got to make those plays. Now,
- 17:40Speaker 1: the one that bunts off the helmet, I mean, I
- 17:43Speaker 1: don't know, but but the Sierra right, one that goes
- 17:46Speaker 1: through your hands if you have a player or not,
- 17:50Speaker 1: was here right, mart So the herds on one through
- 17:53Speaker 1: his hands, It's like, okay, the.
- 17:56Speaker 4: Heart's like, actually pretty good. I think he's leaving a
- 17:58Speaker 4: team interceptions.
- 17:59Speaker 1: This year he is, he is again leading the team whatever.
- 18:03Speaker 1: But it brings the question up of well, if players
- 18:06Speaker 1: aren't making plays with them, maybe they aren't players, like,
- 18:08Speaker 1: because what do what do players do? They make plays?
- 18:11Speaker 1: So it just I mean in simple as terms, maybe
- 18:14Speaker 1: that's it. Still I don't it's hard for Husker fans
- 18:17Speaker 1: to admit that because of how we think about players.
- 18:20Speaker 1: And I don't think that we have bad players horrible players,
- 18:24Speaker 1: but maybe they're just not as Like USC had more
- 18:27Speaker 1: talent than we did it. So now do we expect
- 18:32Speaker 1: to maybe have as much talent as the USC should we?
- 18:35Speaker 1: I I don't know. Maybe, I mean, I guess, but
- 18:38Speaker 1: USC where there are at I don't know. But there
- 18:43Speaker 1: are times that those receivers are just better than our vvs.
- 18:47Speaker 1: We don't We've never had that, like for a long
- 18:50Speaker 1: time in nebrask especially with receivers. Stanley Morgan maybe was
- 18:53Speaker 1: the last one that you could say Stanley Morgan.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Is better than Palmer was pretty good.
- 19:00Speaker 1: In his own way, right, like not from a size
- 19:02Speaker 1: wise but uh yeah, speed so anyways bad obviously, all
- 19:07Speaker 1: those missed opportunities, that's when I'm that's how I'm wording it.
- 19:12Speaker 1: People might say it's unlucky, and maybe they even are.
- 19:15Speaker 4: Uh but the bounced one was a couple of bounced
- 19:20Speaker 4: ones where it's like, oh my gosh.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Like come on like that please, But I'm saying we
- 19:26Speaker 1: got we got the fumble, the stripped or the that
- 19:29Speaker 1: was there too, which but again that's a guy, that's
- 19:31Speaker 1: a player making a play. And the whole game I
- 19:34Speaker 1: kept thinking. The announcers kept talking, and Lincoln Riley said
- 19:38Speaker 1: at halftime, how well their quarterback ma Eva was handling
- 19:41Speaker 1: it and taking some some good, healthy risks. I'm like,
- 19:43Speaker 1: please keep taking them, like we're gonna get there. I'm
- 19:47Speaker 1: gonnay and and and he's like, he's not taking he's
- 19:51Speaker 1: not making smart reads. He's throwing up prayers for his receivers.
- 19:55Speaker 1: And I guess maybe Lincoln Riley saying that's what he
- 19:57Speaker 1: wants him to do because he knows his receivers are
- 19:59Speaker 1: better talented than Nebraska's tbs. But I'm just like, he's
- 20:02Speaker 1: throwing risky stuff and we're gonna get some more picks.
- 20:05Speaker 1: But clearly that didn't quite end up the way we
- 20:10Speaker 1: wanted to.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Yeah. I had that on my list too, just like,
- 20:15Speaker 4: oh man, we're just right there, and it's like, how
- 20:17Speaker 4: the heck. There were a couple of catches too that
- 20:19Speaker 4: the receivers made where it's like third and ten and
- 20:22Speaker 4: it's like, there's no reason that receivers would have made
- 20:24Speaker 4: that catch, it's.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Like, oh, and that's the difference between USC and Nebraska.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And that game was a lot of the third down conversion.
- 20:32Speaker 1: But that's not something new, that's something rules talked about
- 20:35Speaker 1: third down. So again, who do you throw that on?
- 20:37Speaker 1: I I don't know the players, coaches. It's the same
- 20:40Speaker 1: conversation we have for five years, Like, I don't know
- 20:44Speaker 1: where we throw it on because it continues to happen
- 20:48Speaker 1: as a program. Okay, any who wants to go next?
- 20:51Speaker 1: I have like fifteen things so.
- 20:55Speaker 2: On my But that's another thing that hurts about that
- 20:59Speaker 2: game is losing that game when I thought he played
- 21:01Speaker 2: too not.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Okay, let's I'd rate his game as like a D
- 21:08Speaker 3: plus minus time quarterback games. Yeah, I didn't think he
- 21:12Speaker 3: played that well. I think he forced the ball a lot,
- 21:15Speaker 3: Like you said, you should have got a lot more
- 21:16Speaker 3: picks he did. He also had some good throws too,
- 21:18Speaker 3: and managed the game be in there.
- 21:20Speaker 1: But so my comment, I guess I had that go
- 21:24Speaker 1: piggybacks off of that two things. One the defended the
- 21:28Speaker 1: run him running it. He's not as good runner actually
- 21:31Speaker 1: as I thought he was gonna be. He could run
- 21:35Speaker 1: at the times he needed to, and that's that hurt us.
- 21:39Speaker 1: The second comment on him and I guess wood he
- 21:43Speaker 1: marks to their running back and we do it every year,
- 21:46Speaker 1: every game, even though our defense is pretty solid. We
- 21:49Speaker 1: just make guys look so much better than they are.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Like Miama was making a I agree, Dak he was
- 21:56Speaker 1: making like not good decisions, but because of the way
- 22:00Speaker 1: we were playing and how it happened like he was,
- 22:02Speaker 1: he ended up being okay, like stat lion and and
- 22:06Speaker 1: production wise, this running back what he marks? I heard
- 22:10Speaker 1: the Husker online guys say, uh, I should say it
- 22:14Speaker 1: was Sean Callahan that that said best running back we've played.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I'm like, how many times have we said that we've
- 22:20Speaker 1: made every running back the best running back that we
- 22:22Speaker 1: played in the Big ten? And and and Sipple was like,
- 22:25Speaker 1: come on, he's not that. Well, yeah, like we've made it.
- 22:28Speaker 1: We've made we make guys better than they are.
- 22:31Speaker 2: No, I was running back at one point was the
- 22:33Speaker 2: best running back he played?
- 22:34Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I seriously we said that every week and
- 22:36Speaker 1: it's like that what no, like stop it now. They
- 22:39Speaker 1: didn't show the stat that we haven't allowed hunter guard
- 22:41Speaker 1: rushers for a long time. And obviously what he mark's
- 22:44Speaker 1: got there but they hit us. They hit us with
- 22:46Speaker 1: some run game stuff that that early on wasn't there.
- 22:50Speaker 1: But they adjusted quickly. And I know Dak's not gonna
- 22:53Speaker 1: like this comment. That's Lincoln Riley for you. That is
- 22:56Speaker 1: an offensive guy court coach that knows what he's doing
- 23:00Speaker 1: and was able to adjust quickly on the spot in
- 23:03Speaker 1: game and really put together some good drives against us.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Against scored enough points. We don't win games and we
- 23:12Speaker 1: give up more than twenty. We just don't do it
- 23:14Speaker 1: because we can't score more than twenty. So you seeded
- 23:17Speaker 1: what they enough to score, and.
- 23:21Speaker 4: I have a good and bad. The bad offense still
- 23:27Speaker 4: only scored thirteen points.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Here we go, offense, top, We haven't guy there yet.
- 23:31Speaker 4: No. I was hoping I was gonna let you break
- 23:33Speaker 4: the seal, but nope, we're kind of in that channel.
- 23:36Speaker 4: So good. I do think there were a couple of
- 23:38Speaker 4: plays where I was like, okay, Like there's that tight
- 23:41Speaker 4: end pass to Lindenmeyer where he kind of like blocked
- 23:46Speaker 4: and broke free for it was like a twelve yard
- 23:48Speaker 4: game for a first down. I was like, okay, that's
- 23:54Speaker 4: kind of unique. Better than that. Offense still only scored
- 23:56Speaker 4: thirteen points not the best improvement that we're looking.
- 24:02Speaker 1: For, Dak.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I thought.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I thought the.
- 24:13Speaker 3: Offensive the offensive scheme, I thought was more creative. You
- 24:20Speaker 3: didn't just yet a little bit of motion. You didn't
- 24:23Speaker 3: just do a tiny screen every other play.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I thought. The production, though, is about the same one
- 24:30Speaker 2: it has been. So I don't know how you would.
- 24:33Speaker 2: I don't know, but i'd say the offense looks better,
- 24:37Speaker 2: you know what? That That's what I would say, slightly better.
- 24:41Speaker 1: So I'm glad you guys kind of saw that because
- 24:42Speaker 1: everything I've been hearing post game stuff is basically looking
- 24:47Speaker 1: at the stats and the numbers and the production which
- 24:51Speaker 1: you referenced, and how it pretty much was the same.
- 24:55Speaker 1: That part right there is where I'm thrown into I
- 24:57Speaker 1: don't care whatever, like, look at the numbers, read the stats,
- 25:03Speaker 1: compare them. We'll do it all. You want to bring
- 25:04Speaker 1: graphics up, and this is coming from status people like I.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I don't want to. I don't care what I cared about,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and I have it as a good similar to what
- 25:15Speaker 1: you said, Austin are creativity, there were there were flashes
- 25:21Speaker 1: of some really good things. It just felt it felt
- 25:24Speaker 1: better watching it just felt like, I don't know, it
- 25:28Speaker 1: just it was a little more unpredictable. Obviously it's a
- 25:31Speaker 1: first year, their first week offensive coordinator. It just felt fresh,
- 25:41Speaker 1: and that's that's good. That's a that's a good thing.
- 25:44Speaker 1: And yes, the production, the points, there's work to be done.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I'm also going to give it two more games that
- 25:52Speaker 1: all we get before we go to a bowl game.
- 25:54Speaker 1: I think it gave me progress and hope that we
- 25:57Speaker 1: can score some uh and be creative enough and mix
- 26:01Speaker 1: things up, which I think is what why Dana took
- 26:04Speaker 1: the job to begin with. He wanted he knew and
- 26:08Speaker 1: more I've heard about it, like he didn't talk the
- 26:10Speaker 1: first two days he was here. He was just evaluating
- 26:12Speaker 1: it and deciding whether he wanted to do what he
- 26:15Speaker 1: wanted to do. I think there's some stuff there. And
- 26:19Speaker 1: then the mesh. Dylan is a Dana quarterback that's also
- 26:27Speaker 1: very good. In my mind, I think they are going
- 26:30Speaker 1: to mesh very very well together and what Dana wants
- 26:34Speaker 1: to do. I think Dylan is going to learn a
- 26:37Speaker 1: ton through Dana, and there are specific plays in this
- 26:40Speaker 1: game that I think he can learn from too that
- 26:43Speaker 1: Dana is going to help him with. That sadder field
- 26:45Speaker 1: and the rest of the previous coaches were struggling to
- 26:50Speaker 1: do that. So like that whole big picture offense, the
- 26:55Speaker 1: feel of it is a very good thing. I'm probably
- 26:58Speaker 1: much higher on that than people. I've seen a lot
- 27:01Speaker 1: of people that are up and down on it. I
- 27:03Speaker 1: just think, again, okay, let's do it real quick without
- 27:07Speaker 1: getting in to too much detail. Offense and the scale
- 27:09Speaker 1: of zero to one hundred. Where are we at? Now?
- 27:14Speaker 2: What did I say last time?
- 27:17Speaker 1: You change it like six times? So the original?
- 27:19Speaker 2: Now, but go.
- 27:25Speaker 4: You tuck me down to thirty five. I'll go back
- 27:27Speaker 4: up to my forty four.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I was gonna say, he'un on forty am.
- 27:32Speaker 1: I'm going from like my fifteen twenty, I'm jumping up
- 27:35Speaker 1: to a thirty five. Like yeah, like it just it
- 27:38Speaker 1: got better. Like if Satterfield would have been here as
- 27:42Speaker 1: our offense coordinator of this game, it would not have
- 27:44Speaker 1: moved from fifteen to twenty on my scale. It wouldn't have.
- 27:46Speaker 1: It would have stayed there. I almost guarantee it.
- 27:49Speaker 3: So I don't think you have scored thirteen points the
- 27:51Speaker 3: coordinator he could have.
- 27:53Speaker 4: He maybe could have. I don't know. Such a low bar.
- 27:56Speaker 1: It's so it's so low I can get production wise,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I'm like, I just felt I just felt better about
- 28:01Speaker 1: our offense.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Will say the other good I had about the offense.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Emmitt Johnson, I think he's the best running back we have.
- 28:07Speaker 4: I thought he was gonna be our Week one starter.
- 28:10Speaker 4: I should have stuck with. I think every game I
- 28:13Speaker 4: see him and I would much rather seek him than
- 28:15Speaker 4: anyone else. He's just bigger. I feel it's more athletic,
- 28:17Speaker 4: and they used him in the past game this time,
- 28:20Speaker 4: which I really liked, which we haven't really been using
- 28:22Speaker 4: in our our running backs in the past game that much,
- 28:25Speaker 4: to be honest, outside of trying to block, which has
- 28:28Speaker 4: not gone well. But Emmitt's got the size seven catches.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Because it's because you have that tight ending and throw
- 28:32Speaker 2: a screen too.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I know. So Emmett and then I have dow Dell,
- 28:37Speaker 1: but for different, little different reasons. In our run game
- 28:43Speaker 1: got some things going. And Emmett I think made more
- 28:47Speaker 1: guys miss than we have for the entire season. And
- 28:51Speaker 1: Dowdell got a couple of holes, but he still is
- 28:53Speaker 1: a straight line runner. But when he runs, he runs hard.
- 28:56Speaker 1: Still not able to make that second guy miss in
- 28:59Speaker 1: the second I guess he had a hurdle on one
- 29:02Speaker 1: of them, but I think that his only move is
- 29:03Speaker 1: to know to jump over people. But they they they
- 29:08Speaker 1: did some good things a run game. And and this
- 29:11Speaker 1: is with a system that air raid background right, and.
- 29:17Speaker 4: We probably couldn't read a few.
- 29:20Speaker 1: It was but I feel like it was unpredictable to me,
- 29:23Speaker 1: and it was creative and it was it was there
- 29:25Speaker 1: were a lot of adjustments being made, so much more
- 29:28Speaker 1: than the past. We didn't and I'm not I'm not
- 29:30Speaker 1: saying I don't want to run this, but we did
- 29:32Speaker 1: not go double tight, single back and Okay, I wonder
- 29:34Speaker 1: what we're gonna run here, zone left or zone right,
- 29:36Speaker 1: Like there was none of that to where you just
- 29:38Speaker 1: knew what was coming. It was. It was. There were
- 29:42Speaker 1: guys getting motioned out. There are some things that got
- 29:44Speaker 1: that got shut up quickly. Like there were definitely a
- 29:49Speaker 1: few players I got blown up, but like for the
- 29:52Speaker 1: most part, like we took a shot in the first
- 29:54Speaker 1: play of the game downfield, like for the first time
- 29:58Speaker 1: in a long time, Like I was like, okay, great,
- 30:01Speaker 1: uh yeah, I mean all those like like very very
- 30:05Speaker 1: good things in our offense, like moving I should say
- 30:09Speaker 1: I shouldn't say, very good, moving in the right direction.
- 30:12Speaker 1: That's why I'm putting it in the good game.
- 30:14Speaker 4: That's why I said it was bad and good is
- 30:15Speaker 4: bad because we still didn't score enough to win. Yeah,
- 30:18Speaker 4: but there were things that you were like, Okay, this
- 30:22Speaker 4: is better than last week.
- 30:25Speaker 3: Now, what did you guys think after those first three plays?
- 30:28Speaker 3: I was like, holy shit, I think actually here.
- 30:31Speaker 1: I didn't I just singing it. I didn't now here.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Here's here's the hard part though. And this is TBD,
- 30:40Speaker 1: and this is a lot of offseason talk, and it's
- 30:43Speaker 1: gonna be a very big topic of conversation, I know,
- 30:45Speaker 1: amongst at least my friend group and people we talk
- 30:47Speaker 1: Husker football with. When it comes to identity and style,
- 30:52Speaker 1: what's correct, what's right? What what works? Said Nebraska? What
- 30:55Speaker 1: are we gonna do? What's what's what is the way
- 30:58Speaker 1: that's gonna win us games? I'm Dylan Royola is not
- 31:01Speaker 1: a Nebraska quarterback of the old where you're gonna get
- 31:05Speaker 1: hand the ball off and run it. He's not that guy.
- 31:08Speaker 1: He's not He was not a good fit for whatever
- 31:11Speaker 1: rule whatever it was trying to do it. It wasn't
- 31:13Speaker 1: a good He He is gonna be better at the
- 31:16Speaker 1: hair raid system, so that one of my bad things,
- 31:21Speaker 1: like really bad things, and this is really bad, and
- 31:23Speaker 1: it's it just continues to show up. He can't run,
- 31:27Speaker 1: like he's slow and he doesn't want to run. And
- 31:31Speaker 1: he even on the fourth or third and four where
- 31:34Speaker 1: he didn't even know where the line of scrimmage was
- 31:36Speaker 1: and he slid. We end up a yard and half
- 31:38Speaker 1: short of the first down, and he could have got
- 31:39Speaker 1: it if he just would have ran, and he would
- 31:40Speaker 1: have got popped, he would have. But he very much,
- 31:44Speaker 1: he very much is a that you can tell doesn't
- 31:48Speaker 1: want to get touched. Same same thing on the and
- 31:52Speaker 1: I'm not probably was okay, but when we had to
- 31:54Speaker 1: sneak it from the half yard line before half, you
- 31:57Speaker 1: throw Harburg in there because like they don't want Dylan
- 31:59Speaker 1: there to get hurt. If we're going to be so
- 32:01Speaker 1: focused on Dylan not getting banged up in touch and
- 32:03Speaker 1: we're telling him to slide all that stuff because he's
- 32:05Speaker 1: that valuable, that tells you right there kind of what
- 32:08Speaker 1: direction we're going in from an offensive identity standpoint. So
- 32:12Speaker 1: a lot more to come there with what the future
- 32:16Speaker 1: holds for the offense, because we don't even know what
- 32:18Speaker 1: happens gonna happen to Danta, But I think Dylan and
- 32:20Speaker 1: Dana are a good mesh. But that's not going to
- 32:23Speaker 1: involve a lot of running. It is going to involve
- 32:25Speaker 1: more passing. That's gonna be hard to swallow. But guess what,
- 32:29Speaker 1: how did our run game go last year? How was
- 32:31Speaker 1: our run game last year? When you know what I mean,
- 32:34Speaker 1: it's hard. It's a hard conversation. It's difficult because everybody
- 32:38Speaker 1: in their minds has their own vision of their identity
- 32:42Speaker 1: and their offense and the players that they want to
- 32:44Speaker 1: fit in that Everyone has a different opinion about it.
- 32:48Speaker 1: I don't care as long as producing results. The problem
- 32:51Speaker 1: is what results of our offense produced in a long time?
- 32:58Speaker 2: Nothing?
- 32:59Speaker 1: Nothing, I mean a long time.
- 33:02Speaker 2: So I feel like he can move though better. Just
- 33:06Speaker 2: just out the High State game.
- 33:08Speaker 4: He just doesn't like to. Yeah, he's too hesitates. He
- 33:13Speaker 4: can't get going.
- 33:14Speaker 1: At the Ohio State game. Was not that was That
- 33:17Speaker 1: was Ohio State saying he's not going to run ever,
- 33:22Speaker 1: and he is. They they weren't ready for it at all,
- 33:24Speaker 1: like because they're like he's he does he won't do it?
- 33:26Speaker 1: Oh I give him props. He did it. But now
- 33:29Speaker 1: that teams at least make that like minor tweak now
- 33:31Speaker 1: to take that away, like you can just tell you
- 33:37Speaker 1: he does not want to run at all.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Oh he's definitely not quick either.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Like and it's not to me again my my my
- 33:44Speaker 1: style offense. I want a quarterback that can run, like
- 33:47Speaker 1: I want a I don't. I don't need a I
- 33:50Speaker 1: don't need a Lamar Jackson necessarily, like I don't think
- 33:53Speaker 1: I would even go that far. But I need like
- 33:55Speaker 1: a Josh Allen type of guy or Jalen Hurts. Those
- 33:58Speaker 1: are my kind of quarterbacks, a little more or like
- 34:02Speaker 1: past sixty seventy, but able to run. I probably prefer
- 34:05Speaker 1: a little more than Mahomes. I think Mahomes is probably
- 34:08Speaker 1: like an eighty twenty pass guy. And then I mean
- 34:11Speaker 1: you can go further and you got your quarterbacks that
- 34:14Speaker 1: are like ninety five five, which is like what Dylan
- 34:16Speaker 1: is a pass guy. I like a little more run
- 34:20Speaker 1: in my quarterbacks. I don't like it all run like
- 34:23Speaker 1: I would say Heinrik Carbert's probably more run than Beast.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I don't think it's that far, but that's where I'm at.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Everybody has a different opinion.
- 34:29Speaker 4: I guy just think every time it's third and one,
- 34:31Speaker 4: we should always put Heinrich out there, just so the
- 34:34Speaker 4: defense doesn't know if we're gonna run it or pass it.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Because if you put Heinrich out there, you know they're
- 34:39Speaker 4: gonna run it.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I'm waiting for us to use him in passing.
- 34:45Speaker 4: I know. That's why I want. That's what I'm saying,
- 34:47Speaker 4: is we keep putting him out there, then we run it.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Why don't we actually pass him? Yeah, because he can't
- 34:50Speaker 4: throw he can throw out.
- 34:52Speaker 1: He's not an incapable pass. Yes, he's not. He's not
- 34:55Speaker 1: a he's not a You're not putting a running back
- 34:58Speaker 1: back there, right.
- 34:59Speaker 4: He's a He as a quarterback. He literally he won
- 35:01Speaker 4: us games last year as a quarterback. Like, let's just
- 35:05Speaker 4: use him. That's what I'm saying. If we get just
- 35:06Speaker 4: put him out there and actually have to pass it, and.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Let's let's stay on this a little bit. There's a
- 35:11Speaker 1: lot of people I heard after the game wanting Harvard
- 35:15Speaker 1: to play last two year. You know what I think
- 35:19Speaker 1: comes down to though, it's that running thing they want.
- 35:21Speaker 1: They team Nebraska fans want a running quarterback. That's what
- 35:26Speaker 1: that's what we want. That's what we're used to. I
- 35:30Speaker 1: don't think we're used to seeing guys that can't do that.
- 35:32Speaker 1: So that's why I mean, regardless of his But but
- 35:36Speaker 1: again then you're then just keep in mind what that
- 35:40Speaker 1: what that implication is going to have. And maybe people
- 35:43Speaker 1: don't want Dylan here. If we don't, if you don't,
- 35:44Speaker 1: if you don't think he's good and he can't run it, well,
- 35:46Speaker 1: then maybe we don't want it. Maybe we should. Maybe
- 35:48Speaker 1: maybe then people's opinions are get rid of him.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I was see him not come back.
- 35:54Speaker 1: He's you know, and that's what's gonna happen. You piss
- 35:57Speaker 1: him off, and I get it. But the thing is,
- 36:03Speaker 1: how many recruits is he going to bring here? He
- 36:06Speaker 1: is I think, I.
- 36:07Speaker 4: Mean our offensive line recruits. I think have already. We've
- 36:10Speaker 4: got a couple of good offensive lin recruits because Dylan's here.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Talk talk about that word hope. Dylan gives the future hope.
- 36:18Speaker 1: There's not there's there's little pockets of hope in different places.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Bringing Dana give you a little bit of hope, all right,
- 36:25Speaker 1: rule says something a couple of times to give a
- 36:26Speaker 1: little bit of hope here. John hold now makes some
- 36:28Speaker 1: field goals which by the way, good check it very good.
- 36:31Speaker 1: A little bit of hope. Like there's a little bit
- 36:33Speaker 1: of hope in different pockets. Dylan's one of those bigger
- 36:36Speaker 1: pockets of hope that you if you're willing to say
- 36:39Speaker 1: and try something else, and maybe we do win a
- 36:41Speaker 1: game with Heinrich, but you pissed Dylan off. What does
- 36:44Speaker 1: that mean for the future. I don't know. Maybe maybe
- 36:48Speaker 1: maybe the opinion is, well, it's not going to change anything.
- 36:50Speaker 1: We make a bowl game. I I think Dylan's got
- 36:52Speaker 1: a very strong influence amongst some of these high sche
- 36:56Speaker 1: went to four high schools like he's. He's a very
- 37:00Speaker 1: a lot of connections, and it's getting players to come here.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Now we certainly develop those players. Stars don't mean jack shit.
- 37:07Speaker 1: I hate recruiting stars. I hate him. But there's as
- 37:11Speaker 1: a whole big can of worms that if you're gonna
- 37:13Speaker 1: open that up and and and try to argue for
- 37:16Speaker 1: Heinrich right now, oh boy, it's tough. It's tough.
- 37:20Speaker 4: Yeah, definitely enough arguing. I may arguing to use it more.
- 37:23Speaker 1: I think he's I agree, Yeah, yeah, I think there's
- 37:29Speaker 1: an element that he can bring. Yeah, it'll be interesting
- 37:33Speaker 1: how Dana does if he wants to. I don't know.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Dana to me is coming in just with a kind
- 37:38Speaker 1: of a fit attitude, like I really don't, I don't.
- 37:43Speaker 1: I don't care how this goes. If it goes disastrous,
- 37:47Speaker 1: maybe he has something to lose, but the way this
- 37:49Speaker 1: game went, it's not gonna hurt him at all. I
- 37:51Speaker 1: don't just get the next two games to go disastrous.
- 37:55Speaker 1: So he's gonna go I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do.
- 37:58Speaker 1: We're gonna try to make a bowl game and see
- 38:00Speaker 1: what happens. Now, Austin, you made an interesting comment on
- 38:03Speaker 1: what you saw in the message boards, which we talked
- 38:05Speaker 1: about a little bit last week.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Yeah, already seeing the fire rule bringing Dana as the
- 38:11Speaker 4: head coach.
- 38:14Speaker 1: I mean, yikes, what's funny if people say that because
- 38:18Speaker 1: they thought they might have seen our offense being like,
- 38:21Speaker 1: oh this is great. The people that also I've heard that,
- 38:23Speaker 1: are like, what a day to do? Our opens didn't
- 38:26Speaker 1: do anything the same thing. It's it's so funny. Nobody knows.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Nobody knows.
- 38:32Speaker 2: I go for it back, No, No, you know you
- 38:34Speaker 2: got it.
- 38:35Speaker 4: No. I was just gonna say, I don't understand so
- 38:40Speaker 4: quick to fire coaches so quick. It's like it's not
- 38:44Speaker 4: even three year two, Like yeah, just chill, just chill.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Yes, yes and no.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:53Speaker 1: The more coaches like Signetti, I want to say it,
- 38:57Speaker 1: like prime, Well, the more coaches and programs you see
- 39:01Speaker 1: like that, it's in the environments all quicker. This transfer
- 39:06Speaker 1: portal thing is still at the words out on it
- 39:09Speaker 1: and how it's gonna how it's gonna play out. But
- 39:11Speaker 1: the more you see teams like that utilize it, take
- 39:13Speaker 1: advantage of it, it is going to pull triggers a
- 39:16Speaker 1: lot faster. In mindset's a lot faster. And I think
- 39:19Speaker 1: it should I really do the buy out and the
- 39:23Speaker 1: paying and all that money stuff, that's something that I
- 39:25Speaker 1: don't care about. That's I don't I I know people
- 39:28Speaker 1: bitch about that.
- 39:28Speaker 4: I'm sorry, but oh I agree. I don't care the university.
- 39:33Speaker 1: People people think it's and I get money as an issue,
- 39:36Speaker 1: and Danon talks about it. I get it, But I
- 39:41Speaker 1: don't pay pay whatever, pay coaches whatever you need to
- 39:43Speaker 1: get pay them. I don't know. And and and I'm
- 39:46Speaker 1: also under the opinion though I don't want to pay
- 39:47Speaker 1: a coach so much to where he's here for the
- 39:49Speaker 1: money and I think we've done that potentially. I like
- 39:53Speaker 1: guys that are that want to earn their money, or
- 39:56Speaker 1: if they're not earning their money, they know where to
- 39:58Speaker 1: put their money or maybe give it back or give
- 40:00Speaker 1: it to players, or do something to where we can
- 40:02Speaker 1: have better success. Like I think that's a philosophy. But
- 40:05Speaker 1: the buyout crap, I don't. It's whatever, So I do think.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I mean it's here too. I don't think we should
- 40:15Speaker 1: fire a rule yet, but again, questions are up there.
- 40:18Speaker 1: And these two games are gonna tell a lot. It's
- 40:22Speaker 1: gonna it's gonna tell a lot. And I think it
- 40:25Speaker 1: all starts with him, but I think and I think
- 40:26Speaker 1: it Dylan, and there's this domino effect of what happens
- 40:30Speaker 1: one way or the other. Now we are, we are
- 40:33Speaker 1: back to back to back to back to back to
- 40:35Speaker 1: back to back to back offseason national champions. Probably can
- 40:39Speaker 1: add some more backs in there. So I'm sure we'll
- 40:41Speaker 1: get there because we're really good at that piece of it.
- 40:44Speaker 1: But it it's gonna be interesting. Obviously, still two games left.
- 40:52Speaker 1: What else we got? I got a couple other things.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I was I was being talking about one thing on
- 40:56Speaker 3: the coaching I was talking Cooper week long time listener.
- 41:00Speaker 3: This morning, he was I was telling him, I'm not
- 41:04Speaker 3: saying fire rule by any means yet, but I was
- 41:07Speaker 3: telling him. I was like, like you said about the
- 41:08Speaker 3: Indian and card of thing, I'm like, you look at
- 41:10Speaker 3: these schools, specifically Indiana. One year this that comes in
- 41:14Speaker 3: turns around. Nebraska has been in the shitter for what
- 41:20Speaker 3: or how since since we served twenty sixteen years?
- 41:23Speaker 4: Probably?
- 41:23Speaker 3: Yeah, And how can they not turn around at all?
- 41:26Speaker 3: Not even just have one year lightning the bottle?
- 41:28Speaker 4: Like I agree with that they should just you come
- 41:33Speaker 4: in return to the mean where you just you win
- 41:37Speaker 4: six games.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he lucky we have.
- 41:41Speaker 1: That's the hard part the swallo about all this is
- 41:43Speaker 1: we have the resources financially and physically and all of
- 41:47Speaker 1: that to do it. That's why I'm a little bit
- 41:51Speaker 1: I don't call it less patient, but I'm my long
- 41:54Speaker 1: long term strategy. We got a land on somebody that'll
- 41:57Speaker 1: work and maybe still could be rule, but movement. Move
- 42:01Speaker 1: him out quick right now because we're gonna these resources
- 42:04Speaker 1: that we're talking about that give it. They do. They
- 42:06Speaker 1: give us an advantage right now. They're gonna be gone
- 42:09Speaker 1: here if we don't get things figured out in the
- 42:11Speaker 1: next ten or fifteen years, and if we're gonna spend
- 42:14Speaker 1: we're only gonna be able to attempt two shots or
- 42:17Speaker 1: three shots at it with coaches like that's the concerning
- 42:22Speaker 1: part of keeping people around and being patient. But I agree,
- 42:28Speaker 1: it's still not even three year two yet, I think.
- 42:30Speaker 1: But I think I think Rural understands I really do.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I think a socioeconomical thoughts, like I think he understands
- 42:36Speaker 1: that whole thing. That's why he did this thing with Dana,
- 42:38Speaker 1: Like I think he knows if I if this happens
- 42:42Speaker 1: in year two and I get year three started off
- 42:44Speaker 1: on the wrong foot, like it's done for me, is done,
- 42:46Speaker 1: and it might already be done after this year if
- 42:47Speaker 1: we don't make I think he knows that. He gets that,
- 42:50Speaker 1: So that's why he made the change. And he's trying
- 42:52Speaker 1: to get things figured out now and not wait and say, oh,
- 42:55Speaker 1: we can hope for year three to be good, like
- 42:57Speaker 1: remember rule said we were in year two when we
- 42:59Speaker 1: were year one. That's kind of on him. But it
- 43:03Speaker 1: got people excited, got people hopeful, but then you got
- 43:06Speaker 1: to put wins after that to show it, for it
- 43:08Speaker 1: to prove it and we haven't done that enough to
- 43:11Speaker 1: make a pole game at least yet. Okay, talk about that.
- 43:18Speaker 1: Oh bad I mentioned FOREDONI Oh gosh, I guess maybe
- 43:22Speaker 1: he's decent blocker. Guys, he can't move. It's hard, it's
- 43:25Speaker 1: hard to watch. It's it's kind of sad. I mean,
- 43:27Speaker 1: obviously he's been hurt, but come you know number one
- 43:30Speaker 1: tight end recruit a few years ago, and you know
- 43:37Speaker 1: he got that pass late in the game when the
- 43:39Speaker 1: last I can't remember the last driver, the second or
- 43:41Speaker 1: last drive, and should be a first down and he
- 43:43Speaker 1: literally didn't gain any yards because he caught it and
- 43:45Speaker 1: like tried to turn a one eighty and I don't.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I'm just like, oh boy, he just must be very
- 43:51Speaker 1: It's it's sad, more sad than bad. But it doesn't
- 43:55Speaker 1: help anything based on what we were hoping we could
- 43:57Speaker 1: get production out of him. Oh Hartzog the other thing.
- 44:03Speaker 1: And I'm not necessarily picking on him and our secondary.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Hartzog's just small, like I feel your heart Zog like
- 44:11Speaker 1: I am too.
- 44:13Speaker 4: That's what some of those plays. He was in perfect
- 44:15Speaker 4: position and it's just teams.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Have exploited him because of that and small, And I
- 44:22Speaker 1: guess he's not very thick either, which I mean you
- 44:25Speaker 1: gotta have speed. Then that's just hard. Like he does
- 44:29Speaker 1: some good things too, like he does Tommy Hill, same thing.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Like he was supposed to be our best player right
- 44:36Speaker 1: on the video game ranking wise, he has some plays
- 44:40Speaker 1: he's like, oh man like, so, yeah, that's rather bad.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I wrote down that was just I guess it's not good.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Oh okay, I have one more good and one more bad.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Anybody have anything else?
- 44:55Speaker 4: I don't think so of My other one is kicking game?
- 44:57Speaker 4: What you mentioned?
- 45:03Speaker 2: Do we do? We want to talk about the major
- 45:06Speaker 2: bad one.
- 45:07Speaker 1: That go ahead back spit it out all right, the
- 45:10Speaker 1: refs spit it.
- 45:12Speaker 3: Out go which honestly, I've been thinking thinking about that
- 45:16Speaker 3: all day or someone the day too. That holding call
- 45:22Speaker 3: at the end, I mean, yeah, that was obviously holding,
- 45:25Speaker 3: but that whole game they were letting them play like that,
- 45:28Speaker 3: Like that very first play of the game, that's past interference,
- 45:31Speaker 3: but they didn't call it. I think they just let
- 45:35Speaker 3: him play like that the whole game. So they're consistent,
- 45:37Speaker 3: awfully consistent. But but yeah, I don't know how you
- 45:41Speaker 3: missed that call. It's don't get me started again. On
- 45:43Speaker 3: the Vikings space mask. It's like, same thing. You're staring
- 45:45Speaker 3: at the dude, how do you miss that? You're looking
- 45:48Speaker 3: and you're looking for flag. That's what that's what your
- 45:50Speaker 3: job is. You're staying around and you just don't throw it.
- 45:53Speaker 4: Like I hate talking about the freaking refs.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Let's do it. We gotta do it, we gotta it's terrible.
- 46:01Speaker 4: I have the same thing that there were times during
- 46:04Speaker 4: the game, like there was one return where like they
- 46:07Speaker 4: were holding our guy by the helmet and yeah, so
- 46:09Speaker 4: you know, I'm talking about where he was trying to
- 46:11Speaker 4: turn and he was holding by the helmet. He ended
- 46:13Speaker 4: up falling in. Call it, and yeah, the past interference,
- 46:17Speaker 4: the holding. There's that one big pass apparently the receiver
- 46:21Speaker 4: went out of bounds and then.
- 46:24Speaker 1: I never did see a clear shot of that, but
- 46:26Speaker 1: I was like convinced watching it live. I'm like, didn't
- 46:29Speaker 1: did he not just step out of bounds before he
- 46:30Speaker 1: got it? Like I never did look go back and
- 46:33Speaker 1: see a replay like close, but they didn't catch it.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Announcers didn't, so no one, they didn't look at it.
- 46:38Speaker 1: But I kind of thought the same thing.
- 46:39Speaker 2: But that's reviewable, isn't it.
- 46:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I think if they catch it.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, And I'm with the Austin with fans and officiating.
- 46:50Speaker 1: It sucks. It's annoying. It's so annoying to read about it.
- 46:54Speaker 1: And my opinions have changed slightly on a lot of officiating.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Before I was like, I don't even want to talk
- 47:01Speaker 1: about it, like, like, is it stupid? They're never the reason.
- 47:04Speaker 4: We're not saying we've lost the game because of the official.
- 47:07Speaker 1: And you don't that still holds true.
- 47:09Speaker 2: A lot of people are but right.
- 47:11Speaker 1: Yeah, some people still blame it. Obviously as players and
- 47:15Speaker 1: coaches you never can. But there's definitely frustrating moments with officiating.
- 47:20Speaker 1: And it's not I'm not saying it's a Nebraska like
- 47:23Speaker 1: they hate Nebraska. That that's not true. It is the
- 47:26Speaker 1: quality officiating that we're talking about. Several plays you mentioned
- 47:31Speaker 1: a lot of them Austin obviously that were against us.
- 47:35Speaker 1: This is is just isn't a fact, Like I'm not
- 47:38Speaker 1: saying this is a true fact. We will not see
- 47:40Speaker 1: those same type of plays for the other team because
- 47:43Speaker 1: we're not looking for so like I don't. I think
- 47:46Speaker 1: people always say, like you try, you try to pick
- 47:49Speaker 1: out and say, oh, Nebraska has always got eight or
- 47:52Speaker 1: nine plays that they're pissed off about. What about the
- 47:55Speaker 1: other team, Well, maybe there's one that you can think of. No,
- 47:58Speaker 1: the other team has eight or nine two they could
- 48:01Speaker 1: bring up easily. Because that's what you look for when
- 48:04Speaker 1: you're a fan like that invested into a team. To
- 48:07Speaker 1: prove it to you, go watch any game by yourself
- 48:09Speaker 1: that you have zero interest in. You will never think
- 48:12Speaker 1: the refs are screwing one thing. Ever, you won't think that.
- 48:15Speaker 1: You will not you could nitpit calls, but it's it's
- 48:18Speaker 1: gonna be so fifty to fifty split.
- 48:20Speaker 4: You're not gonna watch it until the end of the
- 48:22Speaker 4: game and the refs missed the call and you're like,
- 48:23Speaker 4: oh man, they kind.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Of get screwed up. Yeah, maybe one big one. But
- 48:27Speaker 1: when you're watching a game, they're right, there were a
- 48:28Speaker 1: bunch and you go, god damn it, like you feel
- 48:30Speaker 1: like god, they are We're getting held all the time,
- 48:33Speaker 1: all the time, and you look at replay. That's the
- 48:35Speaker 1: whole thing. Whatever the other side, we don't we're not
- 48:39Speaker 1: even watching our blocks. We don't even we don't we're enjoying,
- 48:43Speaker 1: we're selling you know, we're not so anyways, that's my
- 48:46Speaker 1: first comment on officiating. But here's where my positions changed.
- 48:53Speaker 1: Why in the NFL's figuring it out, they're not there yet.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Why can't we just get the goddamn thing right. When
- 49:00Speaker 1: I say what the word right is, I don't know
- 49:02Speaker 1: what that is, but decide what's right. I know officiating
- 49:06Speaker 1: is a lot of judgment, but with football there's a
- 49:10Speaker 1: lot less judgment. In football and basketball there's some pretty
- 49:12Speaker 1: black and white. And if there is judgment, get on
- 49:16Speaker 1: the same page on what the rule is and call
- 49:20Speaker 1: it that way. As a committee of officials from the
- 49:23Speaker 1: entire conference, NCAA, whatever you want to call it, get
- 49:26Speaker 1: yourself on the same page. What what pisses me off
- 49:30Speaker 1: about it all? We have the gut we have as
- 49:33Speaker 1: I get fired up about this now because again not
- 49:36Speaker 1: the reason why we lost, but we have the technology
- 49:38Speaker 1: to do it. We have it very more modatic. I said,
- 49:45Speaker 1: put if it's a if the matter of training, or
- 49:48Speaker 1: if the matter of we don't have enough, put twenty
- 49:50Speaker 1: rests in the field. I don't care. Get the call
- 49:53Speaker 1: right for everything. And is it gonna slow game down?
- 49:58Speaker 1: Maybe it can, but we're gonna figure it out slowly.
- 50:02Speaker 1: The NFL is getting quick reviews. We should not be
- 50:04Speaker 1: missing blatant obvious stuff. If you see it on the replay,
- 50:07Speaker 1: well then go call it, go throw it. Actually they
- 50:09Speaker 1: did it in the Nebraska game today basketball game where
- 50:13Speaker 1: like a few minutes left, one of our guys that
- 50:16Speaker 1: called for goaltending for touching the net or something, and
- 50:18Speaker 1: they came back out of second half and took two
- 50:21Speaker 1: points away for Saint Mary's. So I get the call right,
- 50:29Speaker 1: even though it takes a little more. Because here's the problem.
- 50:32Speaker 1: We have things that are reviewable, right, you can review this,
- 50:36Speaker 1: but guess guess what they reviewed on the one completion, right,
- 50:39Speaker 1: the the one that we had early in the game.
- 50:43Speaker 1: They went and reviewed it, and then you look at
- 50:45Speaker 1: the review and you go, oh god, yep, he definitely
- 50:48Speaker 1: was interfered. And whoever it was, I don't remember who
- 50:51Speaker 1: the guy was on on TV when they official was like, yep,
- 50:55Speaker 1: he goes. But you can't review that play. You can't
- 50:58Speaker 1: review the pass interference. But all you can review and
- 51:00Speaker 1: like that's that's that's bullshit, Like you're gonna watch it hears? Yeah,
- 51:04Speaker 1: why can we not figure that out as a as
- 51:06Speaker 1: a as a UH, college football world to change that
- 51:12Speaker 1: like that, get the If we're gonna review stuff and
- 51:15Speaker 1: we're gonna have technology, then get the player right. If
- 51:17Speaker 1: you don't, then take it all out, take take everything out,
- 51:20Speaker 1: and make it completely judgmental. That way, everybody knows that
- 51:23Speaker 1: calls are gonna be missed and it is. What all
- 51:25Speaker 1: that's gonna do, though, is make people think REST are
- 51:27Speaker 1: even worse. So it I still don't think REST are
- 51:31Speaker 1: getting worse, but I well, I maybe do think because
- 51:35Speaker 1: I think they're overthinking stuff a lot because they're trying
- 51:37Speaker 1: to dictate the story and the play and and you know,
- 51:41Speaker 1: all I gave a call here or like you said, Dak,
- 51:44Speaker 1: they haven't been calling an all game, so they're never
- 51:46Speaker 1: gonna call it. That to me is bullshit, like or
- 51:49Speaker 1: the the the famous line of the famous line of
- 51:54Speaker 1: oh you don't want the rest to decide the outcome
- 51:56Speaker 1: of the game because it's the last play. And I'm like,
- 51:59Speaker 1: I'm like that that's completely it's the rules.
- 52:05Speaker 4: Of the game, does not give you justification.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Does not have it's the depth. Okay, then we'll just
- 52:10Speaker 1: start tackling like that's the rule of past interference.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Is that right?
- 52:14Speaker 1: So that to me that frustrates me that, like as
- 52:19Speaker 1: a sport, we have not figured that out yet because
- 52:24Speaker 1: it's easily able to be done. And again, if that's
- 52:28Speaker 1: crew hasn't been calling it the whole game, Okay, like
- 52:32Speaker 1: I get it, good, but if you're not gonna call
- 52:37Speaker 1: it the whole game, then every other crew better not
- 52:39Speaker 1: call that because that's the rule that that's not passing
- 52:41Speaker 1: aference or that's not holding. It should not change from
- 52:43Speaker 1: crew to crew like that that much. It's going to
- 52:46Speaker 1: change slightly on the flags and penalties and what gets thrown,
- 52:49Speaker 1: but it should not change that much of Okay, well,
- 52:51Speaker 1: this crew is not gonna throw a defensive holding a
- 52:53Speaker 1: past and refference because they're not known for that. No,
- 52:55Speaker 1: if it's defensive holding a past interference, it's defensive holding
- 52:58Speaker 1: and pass inference because that's that's what you decided as
- 53:01Speaker 1: an officiating crew in your meetings, you've talked about that
- 53:04Speaker 1: and I've said this, this is a solution. Every big
- 53:09Speaker 1: ten game, have ten officials sitting in a room together
- 53:13Speaker 1: and pay them, I mean, you know you to. They
- 53:15Speaker 1: don't have to be at the stadium even watching the game,
- 53:17Speaker 1: and right through the play happens, they can watch it
- 53:20Speaker 1: right away and they can take a quick vote or
- 53:23Speaker 1: whatever they want to say. If it's a judgment on
- 53:24Speaker 1: fifty to fifty call, then they can always say, Okay,
- 53:27Speaker 1: there's a nope, that's not holding. Good, okay, move on.
- 53:30Speaker 1: That way, you can say, as a as an organization,
- 53:33Speaker 1: this is what we agree on what's holding and what's
- 53:35Speaker 1: not and then you can communicate that to the players
- 53:37Speaker 1: and the ones that are playing the game, and the
- 53:39Speaker 1: fans for that matter, and say, Nope, that by definition
- 53:42Speaker 1: that's not holding, and here's why, but we don't do that.
- 53:45Speaker 1: We can't do that, and it's frustrating that. That's I
- 53:49Speaker 1: think a lot of coaches would agree that with. That's
- 53:52Speaker 1: with the statement that we should be able to get
- 53:54Speaker 1: calls right in the moment with technology that we have.
- 53:58Speaker 1: It should not be this hard to miss, blatantly obvious,
- 54:01Speaker 1: like the face mask that Dack is referring to in
- 54:04Speaker 1: the vikings. We that should never be not called ever
- 54:07Speaker 1: ever Yep, in today's society, it's clear that's cheating, that
- 54:12Speaker 1: you're breaking the rule of the game. That's what you're doing.
- 54:15Speaker 1: You should not be allowed to do that and get
- 54:16Speaker 1: away with it.
- 54:18Speaker 2: And I haven't slept since that.
- 54:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that's my official, that's my whole fish anything. Again,
- 54:26Speaker 1: we did not lose the game because of it. It's
- 54:29Speaker 1: just frustrating, but that because what probably would have happened
- 54:32Speaker 1: if we would have got the pass interference anyways, let's
- 54:34Speaker 1: be real, we would have got the ball first and
- 54:36Speaker 1: goal on the two zero second one play, probably wouldn't scored,
- 54:40Speaker 1: or if we would have scored, then we would have
- 54:41Speaker 1: scored and knock off the two point conversion because we
- 54:43Speaker 1: just you know, we just don't do that stuff. Or
- 54:45Speaker 1: we do get the two point conversion, we go to
- 54:46Speaker 1: overtime and then we you know, are the best team
- 54:48Speaker 1: in overtime in the history of college football. Right, So,
- 54:52Speaker 1: I mean, again, that doesn't change the outcome of the game,
- 54:55Speaker 1: but it's just like get the call, right, just can
- 54:57Speaker 1: we get can we just figure it out? Well, sure,
- 55:02Speaker 1: we'll talk about it again, but well, the NFL is
- 55:05Speaker 1: figuring it out quicker. They're they're doing a good job
- 55:07Speaker 1: of getting quicker views, quick immediate call downs, and it's
- 55:10Speaker 1: not on all everything, but they're starting to do it
- 55:12Speaker 1: and I appreciate that that's moving that way.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Well, then you have people that which I think people
- 55:18Speaker 3: was like the bitch and that they they're on the
- 55:20Speaker 3: other side, they say the game to take too long.
- 55:24Speaker 3: It does not take that long to phone down and say, hey,
- 55:26Speaker 3: that was a hold.
- 55:29Speaker 2: It.
- 55:30Speaker 4: People will take as too long. But if you're getting
- 55:34Speaker 4: it more correct on the field, the reviews are gonna
- 55:36Speaker 4: be quicker.
- 55:37Speaker 3: If you're looking in the NFL now with those instant reviews,
- 55:40Speaker 3: they just phone down real quick and it's like they
- 55:41Speaker 3: don't got to go out of freaking TV.
- 55:43Speaker 1: And I've always said to why are we trying to
- 55:46Speaker 1: shorten something that you love to watch?
- 55:51Speaker 4: I always I don't think they're trying to shorten it.
- 55:53Speaker 4: They're just trying to not elongate it. I mean, I
- 55:56Speaker 4: get it.
- 55:57Speaker 1: I'm not saying I want a twelve hour football game,
- 55:59Speaker 1: but like all, I don't. I don't everybody. Everybody has
- 56:03Speaker 1: their opinions about length of stuff.
- 56:05Speaker 4: And I mean that's like baseball.
- 56:08Speaker 1: It is, and I don't like baseball, so I don't
- 56:09Speaker 1: want that. So I guess don't want to elongate football.
- 56:14Speaker 1: Maybe they don't like football and quip I don't.
- 56:17Speaker 4: They like it. They just don't want to spend four
- 56:19Speaker 4: and a half hours to five hours watching the game
- 56:21Speaker 4: instead of three and a half four there's baseball.
- 56:24Speaker 1: I'm not spending an hour, so right, it's probably a
- 56:28Speaker 1: little bit different. Okay, Well, I think just for update
- 56:35Speaker 1: podcasts will probably do twice a week here up through
- 56:39Speaker 1: the Iowa game, and then hopefully we're still going to
- 56:42Speaker 1: a ball game, but once a week from from there on.
- 56:46Speaker 4: Uh.
- 56:49Speaker 1: I guess you can still watch on YouTube if you're
- 56:50Speaker 1: still listening. By the way, YouTube is ad free, so
- 56:54Speaker 1: I keep forgetting to say that. But if you listen
- 56:58Speaker 1: and there are a lot of ads in here, I
- 57:00Speaker 1: just hit like what's recommended to include. I'm not sure
- 57:03Speaker 1: what people get for ads. I'm not sure really how
- 57:05Speaker 1: that works. But YouTube is ad free, and you can
- 57:10Speaker 1: get a look at Dak while you're listening.
- 57:12Speaker 4: So his handheld camera, it's always a pleasure. Yeah, I
- 57:19Speaker 4: mean he was shuffling through his cabinet. He was looking first.
- 57:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I was doing others.
- 57:27Speaker 1: By the way, how'd you do on your picks this week? Yeah?
- 57:30Speaker 2: I just thinking about that. I have not checked the
- 57:31Speaker 2: guys we'll or put back then Wednesday about that.
- 57:34Speaker 1: I'm kind of stopping him, but I want I think
- 57:37Speaker 1: you're right about fifty percent, So if you can.
- 57:38Speaker 2: Keep that, I'm guessing pretty good.
- 57:41Speaker 1: I'm you only got five this week?
- 57:45Speaker 2: That's right.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Did you imagine him?
- 57:48Speaker 2: Nope, I didn't put it down. I can rely forgot.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Disappointing.
- 57:51Speaker 2: But do you guys want to I had that one
- 57:56Speaker 2: more point? I want to talk to you.
- 57:57Speaker 3: I thought to me about Jesus. What let's go ahead
- 58:01Speaker 3: one last one here? What grade would you guys give
- 58:03Speaker 3: rules tenure of coaching the brass So far ten uh
- 58:11Speaker 3: ab like ABC.
- 58:14Speaker 2: I was thinking plus yep uh.
- 58:18Speaker 1: But god, that's so hard.
- 58:20Speaker 4: We got a five star quarterback. There was a lot
- 58:23Speaker 4: of energy around the program for the first time in
- 58:26Speaker 4: a while.
- 58:27Speaker 1: I'm going to see. I'm going see. Now here's my
- 58:31Speaker 1: follow up.
- 58:32Speaker 4: Gotta be diawa.
- 58:34Speaker 1: What's if you had to rate the potential?
- 58:37Speaker 4: Oh? Probably see. I don't think he's gonna be like
- 58:41Speaker 4: he's not he's not gonna be a boat. I don't
- 58:44Speaker 4: think he's gonna have both pliny level. To be honest, here's.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Our hope, here's our hope conversation. Where are we at,
- 58:49Speaker 1: dak This is all hope? Where's the B minus C plus?
- 58:56Speaker 1: I think the coach I'm there, I'm there to be
- 59:02Speaker 1: minus potential wise, but that could change quickly here in
- 59:05Speaker 1: the next couple of weeks.
- 59:07Speaker 3: The problem is, I feel like he's not a super
- 59:09Speaker 3: great coach. I feel like he's right in the middle
- 59:13Speaker 3: of coaching.
- 59:15Speaker 1: My god, he knows.
- 59:16Speaker 4: But you know that's not like.
- 59:18Speaker 3: Kirk Cousins coach. He's like just right in the middle, good,
- 59:24Speaker 3: good coach.
- 59:27Speaker 1: Like Sam Darnold.
- 59:30Speaker 2: You guys would kill for Sam Dolliver.
- 59:35Speaker 1: All right, we'll be back Wednesday, tv R.
- 59:40Speaker 2: We were sooner
