- Lucas: Hey Luna, welcome back to Learn French with Fexingo. Luna: Hey Lucas! Happy to be here. I've been practicing my seasons from last time. Lucas: Oh, nice! Which season is your favorite? Luna: Ma saison préférée est l'été! Summer, because I can relax. Lucas: Excellent! And today we're going to learn some useful vocabulary for when you go back to school or office. Luna: School supplies? That sounds practical. I always need a pen. Lucas: Exactly. Let's start with 'un stylo'. A pen. Repeat after me: un stylo. Luna: Un stylo. That's easy. Un stylo. Lucas: Perfect. So if you need a pen, you can say: Je voudrais un stylo, s'il vous plaît. I would like a pen, please. Good. I remember that from the coffee episode. Lucas: Yes, you're connecting the dots. Next: un cahier. A notebook. Un cahier. Luna: Un cahier. Like a cahier de notes. Un cahier. Lucas: Right. And we also have 'un livre' for a book. Un livre. Luna: Un livre. I've heard that before. Un livre is a book. Lucas: Now, to carry all these, you need 'un sac à dos'. A backpack. Un sac à dos. Luna: Un sac à dos. That's a mouthful. Un sac à dos. Lucas: You got it. Let's practice a short dialogue. Imagine you're at a store. And then the clerk might ask: Et avec ça? Lucas: Yes. And you could say: Et un sac à dos aussi. And a backpack too. Luna: Et un sac à dos aussi. Nice. Lucas: Let's add two more items: une règle and une gomme. A ruler and an eraser. Luna: Une règle? That sounds like a rule. But it's a ruler. Une règle. Lucas: Exactly. And une gomme. Like gum, but it's an eraser. Luna: Une gomme. I'll remember that. Lucas: Now let's make a sentence: Dans mon sac à dos, j'ai un stylo, un cahier, un livre, une règle et une gomme. Luna: Ooh, that's a long one. Phew. Lucas: You did it. Let's break it down. 'Dans mon sac à dos' means 'in my backpack'. Luna: Dans mon sac à dos. And 'j'ai' is 'I have'. Lucas: Right. So you're listing everything you have. Let's practice a quick exchange. I'll ask: Qu'est-ce que tu as dans ton sac à dos? Luna: What do you have in your backpack? Hmm. J'ai un stylo et un cahier. Lucas: Good. But you need more for school. Add a book. Lucas: Perfect. Lucas: You've got them. I'm proud of you. Luna: Thanks Lucas. These will be useful when I go shopping for school supplies. Lucas: Absolutely. And remember, you can always listen to this episode again on Fexingo. Luna: Yes, repetition is key. I'll practice saying: Dans mon sac à dos, j'ai un stylo. Lucas: And try to make your own list at home. Maybe add a few items you already know. Luna: Great idea. I can add un téléphone or une bouteille d'eau. Lucas: Exactly. You're expanding your French already. Luna: So to wrap up, our phrases today: un stylo, un cahier, un livre, un sac à dos, une règle, une gomme. Lucas: And the sentence: Dans mon sac à dos, j'ai... then list your items. Luna: Perfect. Thanks for another fun episode, Lucas. Lucas: You're welcome. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn French with Fexingo.
