- 0:00If we keep going after weight loss, we will innately do things that are very unhealthy.
- 0:07Somebody as a certain size does not necessarily tell us that they're healthy.
- 0:11We know people with cancer, right? They could lose a whole lot of weight and they're probably the
- 0:15most unhealthy they've ever been in their life, right? As they're in that fight. And so the first thing
- 0:20we have to do is do we want weight loss or do we want health? With one, you'll get nothing,
- 0:24truly, because nutrition still teaches caloric deprivation. Yeah, always. It's calories
- 0:30and versus calories now. I still believe in that life. Yes, here's the biggest problem with that
- 0:33life. What are the top questions you need to ask yourself before you do a diet or want weight loss?
- 0:39One, is it based on science designed for our body to thrive? Two, can you do it for the rest of your life?
- 0:44And then number three.
- 0:49Carrie LaPoulli, thanks so much for being on the podcast. What you have to share is probably one of
- 0:54the most important messages out there. I watch my daughters watch these fitness experts, these
- 0:59nutritionists. And they're being so lies about what their body should look like, even how they're
- 1:05exercising. And so many people are skinning themselves to death today. I see it over and over again,
- 1:12GLP one movement. It's now the new cool thing if you're not skinny. It's gross and it needs to be
- 1:19undone and nutritionists need to be disrupted as well, because even their nutritional device.
- 1:24So let's jump right in with this topic of disrupting nutrition. Talk about your new book from
- 1:30corsets to crowns, which I can't wait for you to share about that. So thanks for joining me on
- 1:34the show today. Oh my gosh, I'm thrilled to be here. The whole non-toxic living, we have to.
- 1:40We can't do it justice if we don't also talk about the toxic diet culture. I mean, I'm a conspiracy
- 1:45theorist now to be honest with you, like I don't believe the diet culture, the weight loss industry,
- 1:49the food industry, our healthcare system, our pharmaceutical industry, none of it is out for
- 1:56our best interest. And yet we're being taken over by it, the cultural conditioning of women
- 2:01and girls, but also men and boys is here. And it's something that we have to talk about because
- 2:06we're not living our best lives, we're not living our healthiest lives unless we can actually see
- 2:10this and then do something about it. Yeah, I mean, at the end of the day, you know, it's making
- 2:15sure that our future is protected. And I don't think it's conspiracy theory when you look at the
- 2:20financial gains. No, it's actually true. Yeah, it's not even a theory. It's just true.
- 2:26Yeah, if you look at it, it all comes back to money. Yeah, petroleum connected back to oil,
- 2:30like it's pretty clear. And it's being disrupted and never after our Zoom call, when we first met,
- 2:37when I saw your passion, and what's different about you, I think, is that underneath everything
- 2:43that you're saying, you actually give a rip deeply about this message. And I'm so glad that,
- 2:49you know, your award-winning behavioral specialist, you know your stuff. And so it's like even
- 2:54nutritionist, I see them interacting and justifying diet coke. There should be no justification
- 2:59for diet coke. It's poison to your body. It can cause insulin resistance. Yeah, why would you allow
- 3:06anything into your body that is going to not work for you but work against you? That's not
- 3:12an alignment with your body. Your body can't use it. It doesn't do you any good. But hey,
- 3:16it's the influencers getting paid by the the cola industry, which is another nasty industry.
- 3:22The diet industry is nasty. It's like, so we got to start thinking for themselves. And this is
- 3:26what you want to do is empower people. I mean, I've worked with thousands and thousands of women
- 3:30and men actually. And people will often say like, why do you always talk to women? I'm like,
- 3:34because we're the cog in the wheel of our whole families. And so if we figure this out,
- 3:38our families will figure it out too. But at the end of the day, I've worked with thousands and
- 3:41thousands of women in this time of our lives with social media, with the crazy food industry,
- 3:46with the crazy pharmaceutical industry. And yet they are thriving. So I know it's possible,
- 3:52despite what we've got going on here. But what we have to do is start to think differently,
- 3:56open our eyes and actually approach the whole concept of health with a different definition.
- 4:03And I really figured it out or started figuring out that there was a real problem with what I was
- 4:08doing when my two girls, and I know you have three girls, I had two girls. They're now 19 and 21,
- 4:14which blows my mind. But when they were five and six years old, we had Friday family pizza night.
- 4:18And I never got the pizza. I got salad with dressing on the side because I was always on the diet.
- 4:22I never want to spoke about calories in front of my kids. I was really careful not to do that.
- 4:27And on that night, my five-year-old said to my six-year-old, why is climbing never eat the pizza?
- 4:32And my six-year-old little girl said to her sister because there's too many calories. And I was like,
- 4:38what? How? And it was right then in there I realized that you can't perform your belief system.
- 4:47And my beliefs were that my value was in solely what I looked like. I mean, I was an international
- 4:52behavior specialist. I traveled all around the world speaking. And yet before I would ever get
- 4:57on a stage, I would wait myself to determine if I was valuable enough. I'll tell you to pump
- 5:01yourself up. And if the number wasn't what it should be, then I felt like I did not deserve to be
- 5:07on that stage. And you can't literally have those beliefs and think that you're going to teach
- 5:13the children you're raising any differently. And so I went on a deep journey of self-discovery.
- 5:18I had an eating disorder when I was in college. And I thought I had overcome it. But really,
- 5:23I clearly had it. But as I started talking to other women and other people in my community,
- 5:27we were all feeling the same exact way. We just didn't talk about it. But cultural conditioning
- 5:32is real. And we have all gotten the message that at a certain age, I don't know what age it is,
- 5:38like around eight for me when my mom told me that we had a straight in my hair because curly hair
- 5:43wasn't okay. And beauty will hurt. I realized I got the corset put on me. And it's like we all
- 5:48of us women. And I now believe men as well have been given this corset, not a physical one,
- 5:53but a metaphorical one, an emotional one. One that tells us smaller is better. And in order to have
- 6:00value, you have to keep continuously squeezing and tightening the corset. You have to be smaller
- 6:06in every single way. And you know, like if somebody says, Oh, you look great. It's really
- 6:09code for you look smaller. And we've assimilated this in our culture and the way that we talk,
- 6:14the way we talk to ourselves about ourselves and in front of our kids. And that's really what I am
- 6:20now disrupting the change because in the 10 years that I've been really working in nutrition,
- 6:27I was like, what is going on here? Is it really just about food and what we're eating or is it
- 6:31about something more? Oh, it's it's deep and it's nasty and it's dirty. And you I just had this vision
- 6:36just looking at social media. And I think if anyone can imagine this right now is that all most
- 6:41of these health influencers, males, you don't get that ripped. If you're not on testosterone
- 6:46replacement therapy, you don't you don't look that good. Women, these women influencers can't be
- 6:52that shredded. Some of them could be with a very strict diet without GLP ones, at least
- 6:58read a true Thai GLP three. Yeah. Just to help because women store fat. Yeah, most not all,
- 7:04some some women are very thin. I do have the obesity gene. And I am even on this conversation
- 7:09thinking about more so than my wife, I'm the guy that's not eating the pizza because I don't
- 7:15do well with carbs. And I look at carbs and I get chunky. And so at some level, you're speaking
- 7:22to me. I think I have a corset on my body because I think about I don't I don't do TRT. I don't
- 7:28do any of that stuff to look that way because I'm like, ultimately, I want to be connected to God
- 7:32in nature and be on a farm and be close to my children and be with family and people I choose
- 7:38as family. And just I love that heart to heart connection. That's why we we're here today. That's
- 7:42why you know, you flew in to be on this show because there was a connection. But yet, I still have
- 7:47this BS. And we're going to talk about what is the greatest BS people have today about nutrition,
- 7:52about their self image. But I have his belief system. Maybe if nontoxic dad doesn't look the part,
- 7:59maybe people won't listen to me. Yeah. Just like when you walked on stage, maybe if I don't look
- 8:03the part, they won't listen to me. Yeah. I'm not fully there, but it does creep into my mind
- 8:10more often than it should. And I'm probably the one that's putting the corset on my kids by my
- 8:15behavior. Yeah. So I'm pretty, uh, pretty excited to learn from you today. And I think everyone
- 8:20else will be as well. No, I love that you said that I actually was just in St. Louis doing a series
- 8:24of workshops with executives. And they were mostly men, right? Um, CEOs, CEOs, and we got into this
- 8:32exact topic. And they got vulnerable and opened up. And it, it's real everywhere. And so I do,
- 8:39I do, I do, I, the diet industry, the weight loss industry, it's all a bunch of BS. And there is
- 8:43actually the BS that matters, the BS that we need to focus on. And if we can focus on that,
- 8:49we're going to be, we're going to become the healthiest versions of ourselves. And that's our
- 8:53belief systems, behavioral science and understanding why we do what we do. Because there's so many times
- 8:58you're like, I know what to do. I just don't do it. And we don't know why. And we just said we don't
- 9:01have enough willpower. We don't have enough discipline. But it's behavioral science. And we can
- 9:05tap into that. And then blood sugar, our body's love language is around stabilized blood sugar.
- 9:10This is why in so many ways, quote unquote, the, the no carb diet and the GLP one works. Again,
- 9:18we have to define what working means because I think we all have very different definitions of
- 9:22working. But it's because it's actually regulating your blood sugar. And when you don't eat carbs,
- 9:28you don't spike your blood sugar, which is why you don't start fat. But we also need carbs
- 9:32because it gives us energy. And we have to define what carbs are. There's just so much on unpacking
- 9:37we have to do of truth. And that's what I'm really here because this disrupts everything we've
- 9:42been told. So there's three BS's that align with transforming how we should really think about
- 9:51what we look like are what foods we should choose. Yep. And even how we should look. Yep. Exactly.
- 9:58Something you said there too is GLPs work with carbohydrates. And I've heard so many times,
- 10:06if I could have a shot that I could take to lose weight because I'm so frustrated, that's,
- 10:11I don't care if it makes me sick. If you can give me, give me that drug, give me that shot that could
- 10:18take that away. Yep. And I could be healthy again. I would take that shot even if I didn't
- 10:23with longer. I hear it over and over again with and now that drug is here. I have somebody that
- 10:29sits me years ago before GLP1 came out and he said, I was at a point in my life that if I could just
- 10:34get skinny, I was fine if I died 10 years earlier. And so that brings me to really the idea of what
- 10:41do we want and why do we want it? If we keep going after weight loss, we will innately do things
- 10:49that are very unhealthy. Somebody as a certain size does not necessarily tell us that they're healthy.
- 10:56We know people with cancer, right? They could lose a whole lot of weight and they're probably the
- 11:00most unhealthy they've ever been in their life, right? As they're in that fight. And so the first
- 11:04thing we have to do is do we want weight loss or do we want health? With one, you'll get nothing,
- 11:09truly, because the average woman that I speak to at 50 years old has been dieting and going after
- 11:15weight loss for more than 30 years. And so they're going around this roller coaster. How much time,
- 11:21energy in our life are we spending, fighting for a number on a scale that's actually making a
- 11:26sicker. 93% of Americans have metabolic dysfunction, like 7% of us are healthy. And yet we know that
- 11:33about 50 to 60% of people are on a diet. Women start and stop a new diet six to seven times a year.
- 11:40And yet we have some of the most unhealthy people in the world right here in this country.
- 11:45It's not adding up. And we keep going after weight loss. And like in the beginning of the year,
- 11:50new year, new year, the new year's resolutions, it's always weight loss, weight loss, weight loss.
- 11:53It's not health. And when you get to your optimal health, you'll get to your optimal weight.
- 11:58It might look different for you than you think the number should be. It might look different for
- 12:02you than it looks for someone else. But we are so stuck on a number equaling our value. And what we
- 12:10really want is the peace and the confidence we think that number is going to bring us. But I know
- 12:15plenty of healthy, larger, confident women. And I know plenty of smaller, not confident women.
- 12:22So clearly it doesn't have to do with the number on a scale. It has to do with something inside of
- 12:27us. The belief systems that we've carried with us since we were a little, the messages that we've
- 12:32heard about where our value stands. And if we don't really come to a true understanding of what we
- 12:38want and why we want it. And the why is it really a big piece? When I talked, we talked my team
- 12:43and I talked to hundreds and hundreds of women a month. And they'll all say, like, I want to lose
- 12:4730 pounds. Why? Because that's how I felt my best when I was in college or whatever it was. But
- 12:53yet they were always on a diet then. And I just feel like then I'll be more confident. And the
- 13:00kicker is confidence comes from knowing ourselves, knowing who we are, what we're doing, why we're
- 13:08doing it. And instead of looking at a number on a scale as a goal, I really want to encourage people
- 13:14to take the idea of what does the healthiest version of you do say, think and believe. And actually
- 13:19put that down on paper like a blueprint. And if that can be your north star, that can be what
- 13:24you're doing. Then you'll realize that a lot of the things that you're doing are not matching
- 13:28that blueprint. And then you get to decide if that's really what you want. We're chasing after
- 13:32weight loss for reasons of what I say ego versus heart. And we are here on this earth for a purpose,
- 13:40which I believe each one of us is here uniquely curated for a purpose. Then we have to be the
- 13:46healthiest version of ourselves to do that. And our purpose was not to weigh a certain amount.
- 13:50Was not to look a certain way, but it was to be a certain way. It was to serve others. And if
- 13:56we are spending all of our time counting calories, tracking our food on an app, stressing, obsessing
- 14:00about food in our body, we are missing the real purpose of our life. And that to me is the biggest
- 14:06shame. And that's what we're, we're the cultural conditioning and the toxic diet culture doesn't
- 14:12even make us think about who we are. They just make us think about do we look like the culture has
- 14:17told us we should look like because that's where we get our value and it's a lie. So say that again,
- 14:21what are the top questions you need to ask yourself before you do a diet or want weight loss?
- 14:27I always say there's three questions we always have to ask one. Is it based on science designed
- 14:30for our body to thrive? Diet, GLP one, any sort of quick weight loss is all based in science,
- 14:37but is it designed for you to thrive? I would argue that it's definitely not because we have to be
- 14:44codependent like on a weight loss drug. We have to be codependent on it. We lose our empowerment
- 14:48because it's not really about us anymore. It's about this thing. And diets in general that
- 14:54require us to restrict and be perfect and deprive and rely on willpower will always fail us.
- 15:00And then we feel like a failure. So no, none of those will help us thrive too. Can you do it for
- 15:04the rest of your life? Your body wants a relationship with you just like any other relationship.
- 15:08It wants it based on consistency and trust and trust comes from positive interactions
- 15:13consistently over time. And if you're doing something that you know that you can't do for the
- 15:19rest of your life, like keto, for example, if I do keto, I really got to commit to never having
- 15:24birthday cake or a quesadilla ever again. And maybe you can do that. But I also know like I also
- 15:31really like fruit and fruit is really good. And so are you really willing to do that for the rest
- 15:37of your life? And then number three, would you let a kid you love do what you're doing? And if the
- 15:42answer is no to that, then you really got to ask why you're doing it. Because one, our bodies
- 15:46are physiologically the same. They rely on blood sugar stabilization. And two, if you're doing
- 15:50something that you wouldn't want your kid to do, you really got to ask yourself why you're doing
- 15:54it because you will model that to them. And that's going to be a really big decision maker. I
- 16:00think for a lot of people, if they look at that before they start something new, I think you just
- 16:04asked the most powerful question that someone can ask themselves, even though you gave us three.
- 16:08Yeah. That's that's why I leave for last. Yeah. So that's why it's number one is if you're doing
- 16:13a diet, would you want your son or daughter following that diet long term? Yep. And why are you
- 16:18doing that diet? But let me like bring up the idea that my kids started talking about calories at
- 16:22five and six years old, right? And I was appalled. And if I if you talk to anybody, a nutritionist
- 16:27that teaches caloric deprivation today, and they all do literally because that's what all the
- 16:32nutrition still teaches caloric deprivation. Yeah. Oh, always. It's calories and versus calories.
- 16:38I still believe in that lie. I literally, there's no, there's no only there's, I guess some
- 16:42science in that lie. Yes, but it's the here's the biggest problem with that lie. It is and I have
- 16:47a certification where I teach health pros, the concepts of what I teach women and I teach blood
- 16:53sugar stabilization. That's the core foundation of what our certification is. But I have just about
- 16:57every other certification is there is out there because I've tested them to see what are we teaching.
- 17:01And it's the word deficit caloric deficit. And when you are telling women, especially, but also
- 17:07men that have this corset on that have been told to tighten the laces and losing weight and getting
- 17:12smaller is your whole goal. Then what do you think of when you hear deficit and you're not losing weight?
- 17:18You think you're at a caloric deficit. You're not losing weight. So what do you do?
- 17:21Eat less. Eat less. I just must not be at a deficit. I must not be at a deficit. What we really
- 17:26need to say is that we just need to take the right amount of food. But the minute we say deficit,
- 17:32it goes right into our belief system that less, less, less, I need to eat less. And I mean,
- 17:37women that come to me, they're sitting on a 500 calorie a day diet as well as the idea that calories
- 17:42350 calories of an Oreo cookie is not the same as 350 calories of whole unprocessed protein
- 17:47fats and carbohydrates. And so we are desperately in need of real knowledge and education that is not
- 17:55based on diet dogma. I mean, literally the diet industry has put us in a cage and then it
- 18:00blames us for not flying. That to me is the problem because we are not given a set of tools. We
- 18:05are given rules. And then when we can't do them consistently, there's something wrong with us.
- 18:11And we have sat in that belief system for so long that by the time we're 40 and 50 in menopause,
- 18:16we have no idea who we are anymore. We have no idea what to do anymore. And we have believed the
- 18:22lie that you're broken. And so here's take this drug to actually fix your broken body. And that
- 18:30is the problem. And we have had this corset on for so long that we can no longer breathe.
- 18:36And what we are doing is we're either tightening the corset more or we're taking it off from
- 18:41like screw it. I don't care anymore. I'm not doing anything. And neither one of those is healthy.
- 18:47Nutritionists teach caloric restriction. And many times they're not saying
- 18:55what you should eat. Well, no, they are. They're giving you a meal plan.
- 18:59Okay. Right. And yet this is the problem. Our life is not a meal plan. Our life is not a script.
- 19:05So here's the meal plan for you. But then you go on vacation. Well, you can't do the meal plan
- 19:09on vacation. Well, then life gets really stressful. Well, I can't do this while I'm stressed.
- 19:14What we have to be doing is educating and empowering us to be able to have an adaptable flexible
- 19:20lifestyle that is based on the science of our body, but also in the belief system that I am here
- 19:25for a deep reason to be healthy. Because let's think about weight loss as a goal.
- 19:30You want to lose 40 pounds. First of all, when we lose 40 pounds in a diet or GLP one,
- 19:34we are losing muscle when we're losing, losing weight very quickly. And potentially,
- 19:39I cite a whole lot of other things too, right? And yet then I'll have one to say I've gained
- 19:45that same 40 pound over and over again. I'm like, no, you haven't. You've essentially lost gold
- 19:49because you're taking away muscle and you're gaining back sand. It's not the same 40 pounds.
- 19:54And yet when we have a goal of weight and we're like motivated this time, this time, I'm going to do
- 20:00it. And it's also typically motivated by frustration with ourselves. Like we enter into a new diet
- 20:06because we're so frustrated, we're going to punish ourselves. But how do you fix a relationship
- 20:10with somebody when you enter into it with punishment and anger and frustration? Doesn't work,
- 20:15but that's what we do with our bodies. That's what we do with spirituality. So maybe it's
- 20:19really interesting. That's a good point. But then we say, okay, I want to lose 40 pounds. And I'm
- 20:23going to do it this time. I'm going to like meal prep and I'm going to grocery shopping and
- 20:26to do all these things. And then Monday night hits and you're really stressed out. The kids need to
- 20:30eat. If you had a terrible day at work and you see chocolate cake, I'm accounting like screw it.
- 20:34I'm not going to lose 40 pounds by tomorrow. I'm just eating the cake. And that's what we end up
- 20:38doing. And we are on a cycle over and over and over again. We eat the cake and then we feel guilty.
- 20:43And then we feel like there's something wrong with us. But at the core, we don't have the right
- 20:47why. We're not really in it to truly become the healthiest version of ourselves. We're in it
- 20:52for ego, not for heart. And then that will never last. It's just like motivation. Motivation is
- 20:57like rocket fuel. It's great when you have it. But if you rely on that as your strategy,
- 21:01you're never going to be able to be consistent. Oh my gosh. But it does sound like spirituality.
- 21:05Because when you make the wrong decision, you beat yourself up for it. And because you don't
- 21:10feel loved or you feel disconnected from God, you continue to make that same mistake over and
- 21:15over again, more guilt, more shame. You run a bigger deficit. So you're just that effort. I'm going
- 21:20to look at more internet pornography. And then you're addicted to, like just like sugar, you're addicted
- 21:25to the dopamine of this sin. And you hate yourself for it. But you don't know that your love,
- 21:32that you're forgiven, that you have value. And you make a decision from your heart. Because when you
- 21:37know that you're fully loved, you don't do dumb things. Because you like, wait a minute, I'm
- 21:41already good. I don't need this out external dopamine spike because I know my value. I know who
- 21:47my father is. The father of this universe, whatever faith that you have, we're connected to it.
- 21:56I think we can all agree that there's a universal love. There's a universal God. Most people will
- 22:00agree with that unless you're an atheist. There's other faiths out there. But there's a frequency.
- 22:05There's an energy. There's this quantum Jesus that's out there that once you are connected to that.
- 22:09And I know for me, it gave me so much freedom that I was able to break the chains of religiosity.
- 22:16I'm able to forgive myself more quickly. I'm able to see my mistakes more quickly when I'm
- 22:21with my daughter. Instead of beating myself up for the mistake I made, I quickly forgive myself
- 22:26and change my behavior so that I become better. And it's a lot like dieting because you make the
- 22:31mistake, you beat it up, then you give up. So you do it again. It is addictive. You have this guilt
- 22:36and shame cycle. It's over and over again. And I was a behavior specialist for 20 years before
- 22:40I became an nutritionist. And at first, I just started teaching women the same thing that I learned
- 22:44around how to balance your blood sugar. It was eye opening and it was like freeing for me. But within
- 22:50one year, I used to work with 252 women. And I taught them how to balance your blood sugar with
- 22:55food and with a lifestyle. And it was incredible. And they were all like, I'm never going to go back.
- 23:00I'm never, I'm never going to die again within a year. Every single woman had fallen off. And I was
- 23:06like, how did this happen? And I realized, Carrie, you never put into place actual behavioral
- 23:12science and behavioral strategies that you do in your real job or the job that you did for 20 years
- 23:16before. And I just relied on the meal plan. Do this, the actual, you know, system without getting
- 23:26into our belief systems and true behavioral science. I only focused on the blood sugar, which is
- 23:33great. It's still the thing I teach today. But if we don't actually do this other stuff, we're
- 23:36never going to change our behaviors for the long term. And we're going to sit through that cycle
- 23:40like just like what you talked about. It's insanity. It's insanity. But this is where behavioral
- 23:45science is really powerful. And it comes into play with our belief systems. Because first of all,
- 23:49our brain works on these cues and these habits, right? And so if we have handles stress in a certain
- 23:55way, and we have done something to try to just calm down our nervous system. And maybe it's
- 24:02eating the cake, binge eating, whatever it is, getting into sympathetic. Yep. And then we feel,
- 24:07we feel better for a moment after doing it. Our brain registers that as safe. And that's what we do.
- 24:13So if we don't know how to kind of interrupt that circuit, we are going to do that every single time.
- 24:20And I don't care if you have the best meal plan in the world. Life is going to show up. And if
- 24:24we don't understand that and have this level of self-awareness about what's happening in our brain,
- 24:28we're just going to fall into that because we don't have the self-awareness around it.
- 24:33So one thing that I love teaching is around the concept of how our brain works. And so, you know,
- 24:39we have these a couple, a whole bunch of stuccoes on an brain. But this one little tiny part of
- 24:43our brain, the amygdala, is our emotion center. And what happens when we are emotional, when we're
- 24:48stressed, when we're bored, when we're angry, when we're frustrated, even when we're motivated,
- 24:53the amygdala actually gets bigger than the knowledge center of our brain, which is the hippocampus.
- 24:58The hippocampus is like the Wikipedia. It's the, I know what to do thing. We could read a million
- 25:03books and know what to do and still not do it because when the emotion actually rises, the amygdala
- 25:10gets bigger than our hippocampus, which means we're going to do things based on emotion versus
- 25:15knowledge. And then it's like a guard dog. So, you know, like if you have a guard dog on a like a
- 25:20chain and they get spooked and triggered, what do they do? There's barking, right? Like nonstop.
- 25:25And so, how do you calm a guard dog down? Give them some meat. Yep. Maybe give them some meat, right?
- 25:30Or maybe let them tire himself out. That's what happens in our brain. It's like a guard dog. We have
- 25:34that amygdala hijack. It's like a guard dog is barking. And so we have to calm it down. So,
- 25:38what do we do? We go binge eat. We grab the cookies. We grab the cake. We do all of that because we
- 25:43don't know when any other way to handle it and to tire it out. But if we could start training our
- 25:48brain, because then afterwards, once we eat the cake, the amygdala gets smaller. The hippocampus
- 25:52gets bigger again. And then we're like, that's where guilt and shame comes in. You can know the
- 25:56knowledge center took over. And I'm like, why do I always do that? But if we can get in front of
- 26:02that amygdala hijack, there's always something going on with our body physically before the hijack.
- 26:06Like for me, I get this hot feeling in my stomach before I get mad. My amygdala hijack happens
- 26:12with anger a lot. And so I could like, I could yell at my kids, right? Because they did something
- 26:17stupid. And I get this amygdala hijack. But I realized because of self-awareness and how long
- 26:22I've been studying this, what physically happens in my body before that. And I can start to circumvent
- 26:27it before I get fully hijacked before the guard dog is totally going off and find a replacement
- 26:33behavior at that point. So I don't jump into the behavior that's actually going to cause me
- 26:37guilt and shame afterwards. So we do a lot of training around, okay, when you recognize that
- 26:42hijack's coming and you've got that cake on the counter and your brain is used to that loop of
- 26:46going for the cookies, going for the cake, going for the for the chips, what is something you can do
- 26:50that's going to actually embody the healthier version of yourself and still calm that amygdala down.
- 26:55And a lot of times you can just leave, walk away, go for a walk, do something for five minutes.
- 26:59What's we do in a relationship? An idea of a question for you. But instead of like if you're both
- 27:04in heightened emotion, you just, I've learned in my marriage not to fight, it'll resolve itself,
- 27:09probably by the next day and I would have been arguing over things that don't matter,
- 27:13may have saying something hurtful. So I've learned we just don't do that. But we have to treat
- 27:16our own body, our relationship with our body like we treat our relationship with others.
- 27:20Yeah, you know, it's really important. And that's part of this whole process of becoming the
- 27:26healthiest version of ourselves. How do we react during those times of our life? And if we are
- 27:32just thinking that calories, inverses, calories out, give me protein or put me on a shot,
- 27:38we're not going to actually deal with the things that are keeping us very unhealthy.
- 27:42How do you train people to become self-aware? Well, that's a really good question. But I always say like
- 27:47once you see something you can't not see it. So when my daughter turned 16, she wanted to buy a car.
- 27:53And we had to told them they had to buy their own cars. So she wanted a Subaru cross track. And
- 27:57I was like, I've never seen a Subaru cross track before. And my husband was like, you've seen one.
- 28:01I said, I've never seen one. So he pulls up a picture. And I see, I'm like, oh, it's a cute car.
- 28:05I've never seen one before though. And so that day I leave and I go grocery shopping. What do I see
- 28:09everywhere? Cross tracks. I saw Subaru cross tracks about like, did everybody buy a Subaru cross track
- 28:15today? Now our brain filters out millions of pieces of information. And it believes what we tell it.
- 28:21So I told my brain Subaru cross tracks. Our brain's like, oh, we're doing Subaru cross tracks today.
- 28:24That's what we're going to do. So if we keep telling our brain, all the things that
- 28:28diet culture and the toxicity of it has told us over these years, we will only see that and keep
- 28:34reaffirming that fat is truth. And that's the first thing we have to do is start recognizing what
- 28:39we're telling ourselves, what we're seeing. And if we believe the fact, everybody knows that
- 28:44story. Like they know I never have to finish the story. Everyone knows I suddenly saw Subaru
- 28:48cross tracks that day because it's happening to all of us. And when you can realize, oh, yeah,
- 28:52that actually is true. What I tell my brain actually is what it filters.
- 28:57We start to become more aware of what we tell ourselves. And that's really the first step.
- 29:00It seems so simple, right? But it's so hard. It is. But this is why I actually on my Instagram,
- 29:07I go live every single morning for morning time because I am convinced in the 30 years that I've
- 29:11done behavior change that if you can show up for yourself every single morning with intention and
- 29:17like a protocol, like a staff meeting with yourself. And you are truly getting grounded in
- 29:22gratitude with with a devotion and a real belief in that there is something bigger than you.
- 29:29And taking time to get really intentional with what you say you want and why you want it.
- 29:34And then actually looking at your day and time locking actually the things that you're going to do
- 29:38that day and get really practical in when you're going to do things that stress you out that you
- 29:44have to do, self-care, working out. And you actually get yourself into a schedule every single
- 29:50morning. First, we'll realize that we can't do everything. And we're going to have to prioritize
- 29:53the things that we need to do. And you can't fall that far off because if you're showing up for
- 29:57yourself every single morning and committing to one change, one step towards health towards that
- 30:04blueprint of the healthiest version of you, you're going to get there. But if we just go through
- 30:09our day, like we're, I was joke, like when I was in college, I had to write a paper, like literally
- 30:14write papers on yellow paper ads, right? I don't have a chat gbg. I didn't have in 30 something
- 30:19year to go. I still remember the papers that I wrote when I was in college because I had to take a
- 30:23deep dive. And these days, I can chat gbg. And you had a reference? I had a card catalog too. I had
- 30:28a microfiche machine. But today we can Google search our way through everything. We keep our head
- 30:33down. We get our stuff done and we don't look up. And if we could take a little bit of time,
- 30:38just even every morning of spending time with ourselves and getting intentional, we will never
- 30:43fall that far off. And while it seems so simple, but also very complicated, if we take it back to
- 30:48just those few minutes in the morning and getting really grounded in intentionality, we will move
- 30:55in that direction of true health for the right reasons. And that's like the best thing. And
- 31:01there's a first step people can do. When if they don't show up to your like, because I know that I
- 31:05did, when I was doing breath work, I was going through a really hard time. So I decided, you know,
- 31:08what? I'm going to do breath work every day, hell or high water to regulate my nervous system.
- 31:13And it saved me. I wasn't when I'm in my sympathetic. I don't have any fear, right? I don't have
- 31:19anywhere. Everything's going to work out. It's like you're on a high, right? Because you are,
- 31:24you know, it does so much chemically to your body. I think it drops you into a special,
- 31:30you know, connection. Absolutely. Put your God antenna up. Yep. So but when I was doing that, things
- 31:36did work out better. And days were easier. I was more connected because I wasn't yelling at my
- 31:41kids because I was more regulated. Yep. So besides showing up, and I think everyone should show up
- 31:47to your morning. Well, I did that. I did show for themselves, right? Yeah, I know, but like,
- 31:51what else can they do? Yeah. So every morning, I'm just giving like a daily
- 31:55declaration. I want them doing it for themselves. So that's one of the very first things, right?
- 31:59And I will always say, like, get yourself a piece of paper and fold it into fourths and put,
- 32:04do say, think, believe, do say, think, what does the healthiest version of me do?
- 32:09What does she say? What does she think? And what does she believe? And literally revisiting that,
- 32:14evolving in that, recognizing that that is actually my goal. That is my blueprint. And it will
- 32:19continue to evolve. Like what I do today as a healthiest version of myself is not what I did 10
- 32:24years ago. Not even close. Not even close. Like I would look at, okay, Oreo cookies are carbon
- 32:29a fat. All right. If I have some protein with it, I'll bounce my blood sugar. It'll be all good.
- 32:33I wouldn't even want to look at an Oreo cookie. But the healthiest version of me was intentional
- 32:39with what I was eating more than not. Now, I know food serves my body and food serves my soul.
- 32:45And I need both. If it doesn't do either, I will not eat it. And almost all of that process
- 32:51food is not serving my body. And it's not serving my soul. And so the healthiest version of
- 32:56me doesn't even look at that stuff anymore. But I've evolved over the last 10 years. Because we all
- 33:01do evolve. We evolve spiritually, we evolve emotionally. And I think that a lot of folks think that
- 33:06if you get stuck in a diet that worked for you, you get stuck in a faith that worked for you.
- 33:11And you stay there without like evolving your faith or evolving what you think nutrition is.
- 33:17It's neat. What you said is if something doesn't serve me what physically. Yeah. Well,
- 33:23this is what we do, right? We look at food is good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. And so what if you
- 33:27eat something that you have deemed as bad? How do you feel afterwards? You feel bad.
- 33:33Mm-hmm. Guilt. That's where guilt and shame and all that come in, right? And so what I really encourage
- 33:37us to do is to let's look at food differently. Because if we give food so much power, food is a
- 33:41source of energy and nutrients, but it also was a source of shame. And we have a very problematic
- 33:48relationship with food. It's not like alcohol where we can decide I'm not going to drink anymore
- 33:53and be able to take that problem, move it off. We have to eat all the time. So we have to visit
- 33:58that challenging kind of entity in our lives every day. So for someone that is recovered from
- 34:03an eating disorder, from when I was in college, I realized that food serves my body and food serves
- 34:08my soul. And I need both. I have to serve my body more than I serve my soul. And I want to be
- 34:14intentional when I'm serving my soul. So I've made a promise to myself that when I'm going to have
- 34:18a soul fill in meal, like Christmas Eve, we have chicken pop precautions. My grandfather's chicken
- 34:23pop precautions spikes the heck out of my blood sugar and I get super tired, but it is the best meal
- 34:29ever. It's intentional and there's no guilt with it. And when I'm serving my body more than
- 34:35I'm serving my soul, I'm going to do okay. That's just the balance, especially depending on where
- 34:40I am in my journey. And that's sort of like, can I say that I'm serving my body more than I
- 34:46serve my soul? And it could be that simple to make massive progress. I want to talk to the obese
- 34:53woman or man that is diabetic that may need a GLP one. And obviously we're not here to shame
- 35:01them. You just need to get your stuff together. But there is, is there a time and a place that can
- 35:06serve their bodies to help give them a jump start and versus the skinny culture that we now have
- 35:14where people are literally getting anorexic on GLP ones. And they're being dependent upon them
- 35:18because they get off their bodies aren't making GLP ones because we've lost the very bacteria that
- 35:23produce GLP one inside of your body instead of putting in synthetically because we've
- 35:29toxified and destroyed our microbiome through toxins through highly processed food because we don't
- 35:34have a relationship with nature because we're taking glyphosate and spring it everywhere and eating
- 35:39it. So there's all the reasons we need GLP ones today. So someone's suffering. So what do they do?
- 35:43They don't can't have the, you know, where's the balance there? Yeah. So I think we're talking about
- 35:48two types, two different types of people, right? Yeah. Again, one is based on weight as their goal
- 35:54and the other is dire health needs, right? So we're talking about two different people.
- 35:59The one that's focused on weight solely, we are talking about diet culture and us really
- 36:04believing that my value is in a number on a scale versus and this, this belief and I do believe
- 36:11that this is a very true belief that they believe they have done it all. They have tried all the
- 36:16things and now they have to go down this GLP one because they can't lose the weight. But I will argue
- 36:23again, the diet weight loss pharmaceutical industry does not have our best interest at heart.
- 36:28They haven't actually taught us the tools to be able to truly turn around our health and our weight
- 36:33in a way that's sustainable, that's satisfying and that's simple. And they've had us bamboozle
- 36:39to believe we've tried it all. They really haven't. But we go down this GLP one path because we are
- 36:44on this constant weight loss journey that I would argue with. Yeah. When you're talking about people
- 36:49that are severely obese, we have lots of behavioral loops that have happened to get to that point
- 36:56that we have a lot of work to do to work to undo that. But we know that just giving a person
- 37:01a GLP one without actually helping them to understand the BS that they really need,
- 37:06their belief systems that got them to this place, behavioral science that is going to take to
- 37:10reprogram the wiring in our brain and then truly eating in a way that balances our blood sugar
- 37:16that serves our body, regardless of whether we're on GLP one or not, has to be part of the protocol,
- 37:23has to be. I have a client, Jean, who at 50 years old with a kindergarten teacher, she had
- 37:28average glucose levels of 400, like a 50 year old woman right now would be around 70 to 140,
- 37:35right? 400. She was going to die. She was literally on desk door. They'd given her ozempic wakowi.
- 37:41Nothing was quote-unquote working and nothing, her body was rejecting everything at that point.
- 37:48But when we actually got her to fuel her body in a way that it wanted, she went right off of
- 37:55those drugs and within four weeks balanced her blood sugar naturally. So I just don't believe
- 38:02that we can give somebody a prescription. Her doctors called me and they're like, we've done
- 38:06everything we can do. We just think she's actually not going to make it because the last thing that they
- 38:12had was the GLP wants. That's her last. And I was it, but we didn't do anything to work to change
- 38:18the actual lifestyle that got us to this place. We got to get to the root cause. We can't keep going
- 38:24after the symptom and thinking we're getting to the root cause. And let's be honest, all of the
- 38:28process food that she had been eating stripped away her GLP one, which is then very convenient that
- 38:34we now have a drug that can replace it. But if we could actually replace the process foods,
- 38:40and again, we also know that all these process foods have a chemical or a scientific bliss point.
- 38:46That's actually what they call it. So that bliss point gets us needing and craving and being
- 38:51addicted to that food. And then we believe that like we can't eat, we don't want to eat, we don't
- 38:57like the healthy food. But if we can start to re kind of program what our body is used to,
- 39:04I used to always have sugar in my coffee. I, if I put sugar in my coffee right now.
- 39:07It's so nasty. Oh, I can't, I went ahead and call and ask me, they told me I could have ginger
- 39:11rail. And I was like, Oh, you know, I haven't had ginger rail in a really long time. They told me I
- 39:15could have those Italian ice. And I'm like, Oh, I still love Italian ice. I couldn't have one bite
- 39:20of it. My body rejected it. So it's the same thing with processed foods. So it's not to say that I'm,
- 39:26I, I think that that's what doctors are trained to do. And I think that there's some validity.
- 39:30They're depending on where we are with that person. But we are missing a huge piece of the puzzle
- 39:35thinking, uh, should we do GLP one or should we not? And everybody always says it should be with
- 39:40a lifestyle, but nobody teaches the lifestyle. The doctors aren't teaching it. My number one
- 39:44client or doctors, they don't know it. And they certainly don't know how to teach it. And I think
- 39:48that's why my book, I wrote my book. It was really important to me. I also have a children's book
- 39:52coming out because I believe education is empowerment. And even though when we know we still won't do,
- 39:57we don't really know what we need to be doing. We're just confused because diet culture and this
- 40:03industry, this weight loss industry, the pharmaceutical industry, strives on us being confused.
- 40:09That's what they want because a confused mind will never be able to make changes for a long
- 40:15term. And then we believe we need the pharmaceutical intervention. Does that make sense? It turns
- 40:20into that. I follow it. And what I was going to, what I would say to that is that I find interesting
- 40:27is that the, the very foods that we're eating are disconnecting ourselves from our senses.
- 40:33A hundred percent. Right. Because we have more than five senses by the way. But we do have a
- 40:38nose, right? And a nose would know that or our taste buds, we would know that that's poison.
- 40:45But we get used to it. Just like when you smoke for the first time and you cough or if you
- 40:50put a chew in when I did when I was little and I puked, but I got used to it or if you drink alcohol,
- 40:54it's like I do good with it because your body adapts. We're being poisoned. And now our bodies
- 40:59begin to love that poison. We get addicted to it because they engineer the food to be poisonous
- 41:05because it's firing off dopamine in our brains. And then add the other toxins in our environment.
- 41:10Yeah. Right. I'm not even talking about this. Right. But if we could at least get rid of
- 41:14other toxins in the food, then we're like at least ahead of the game a little bit, right? And that's
- 41:19something we're in control of. The environmental stuff is hard. It's very, very, very difficult. I call it
- 41:23like a callus. So you know when you have a callus on your hand and you can like poke something sharp
- 41:27with it and it doesn't hurt. Right. When you get rid of that callus, that same poke will hurt. Yeah.
- 41:31And we have to get rid of the callus in our minds and in our bodies. And that's why I think I've
- 41:37getting reconnected is what I was trying to say. Yeah. I would agree. And but I think there's
- 41:40a physical callus. Like you just said, and there's this emotional callus as well around our lifestyle,
- 41:47our busy lives. And we just have these belief systems like the two busy. I don't have time to do
- 41:50this. I don't have time to work out. We repriate. We we misprioritize where we spend our money.
- 41:55And we we get ourselves all caught up into this cyclone. And we really just need to get to the library.
- 42:01We get our yellow legal pad and actually figure out who am I? What do I want out of this life?
- 42:06What does a healthy version of me do say I think and believe? And then I will start to make choices
- 42:09that actually end up becoming more than that. But if we keep looking after these outside entities
- 42:15to take care of us and not actually say, I am getting into my plane and I am going to learn how to fly
- 42:20it, then we will be we will be we're going to self-propelled. And we are right now. We see what we're
- 42:27doing to ourselves. We have to turn it around. And there's a way to do it. It's not all hopeless.
- 42:33But the first question is really truly what do I really want? Yeah. I mean, this is why I quit
- 42:38watching television and it's like all these different things. But I evolved to that because I
- 42:42didn't want to be programmed anymore because I knew I was being programmed. Exactly. My husband,
- 42:46I talked about this all the time. I just have to get really centered in why I am here and what
- 42:51my message is because it's otherwise it's a super across track. And we can get real just
- 42:56really distracted by what we're putting in front of us. I'm highly aware of it because I I've
- 43:00looked at it every day like as who's inviting me on what podcast or what company opening am I going
- 43:05to go to an LA and a lot of it I just don't go to because I just don't I look at the crowd. They're
- 43:10fancy and I love them and they're great people. But they they got their veneer teeth on they're
- 43:16on GLPs and they look a certain way. They're ripped and the guys are on all kinds of
- 43:23peptides and TRT and I'm just like, I don't fit in. Right. You know, if I can add value, maybe like
- 43:31talk from my heart, but I just don't I mean, and I believe peptides are helpful. Like don't get me wrong.
- 43:36Like I like I'm doing that. Just it's just not me. It's just not my job. It's also why we're doing it
- 43:40though. Yeah. And that's really I think the question at the end of the day that we don't ask
- 43:43ourselves. We just fall. It's like a raging river and we just sit on a raft and we let the river
- 43:48just roll roll with us. And instead we actually have to be rowing against the river. You know,
- 43:53I think about the difference between self-comfort and self-care self-comfort is what keeps us safe.
- 43:57It keeps us like, we're really not moving forward. We're actually probably moving backwards if
- 44:02we just fall into self-comfort and self-comfort comes with really truly a lack of awareness. We
- 44:07could be scrolling on our phone for hours and not realize it and think we have no time. Right.
- 44:11But self-care is what moves us forward and part of that is exactly what you're talking about.
- 44:15Who are we surrounding ourselves around? And it might be comfortable or safe or even fun to say
- 44:20I'm going to be around people like that. But at the end of the day, is that really self-care,
- 44:24self-care moves us forward? Yeah, it's an integrity issue. Is that who I want to associate with?
- 44:29And that's why that blueprint of a healthy person. So I'm going to actually use a lot of these
- 44:34things and write them down. Because I have a lot of these beliefs that I make decisions on,
- 44:37but I'm not organizing it. Yeah. I need to organize it. My yellow legal head. Yeah. And you're
- 44:42going to add to it because you're going to have a new situation in front of you. And you're not
- 44:45going to have that written down. And you're like, okay, what does healthy person. Yeah. I can make
- 44:49decisions. When I'm stuck in traffic right now and I'm really pissed off. There's a lot of
- 44:52different scenarios that we have to start identifying how we intentionally want to respond.
- 44:57And then if we don't, that's where it's like this, this, you were talking about like what can we
- 45:02control and what we cannot control? Like we can't control the past. We can't control the traffic.
- 45:06We can't control the weather. We can't control other people's behaviors. What people think of us.
- 45:11We can only control what we are doing here and now. And we have to use our past decisions
- 45:18as data versus guilt. I always say no guilt just data. Okay. So I didn't make the best decision
- 45:22on that last meal or I didn't, you know, speak to my kid the way I wanted to. Let me go back and
- 45:27analyze it. And that's why I think morning time is so important. I can spend some time. All right.
- 45:31What triggered me in there? Like did my amygdala get hijacked? What was my belief system? Did I control
- 45:36my thinking before? How is I feeling? And then start to say, okay, I can't go back and change it,
- 45:41but I can do better next time. Yeah. There's these spiritual, you know, leaders,
- 45:46ancient wisdom that's out there, right? And they say, well, yesterday's gone. Tomorrow doesn't
- 45:53exist. All we have is the now. And if you want to live your best life, your best life happens
- 45:59in the now. It doesn't happen from what happened yesterday because it's gone. Yep. You can't
- 46:04control the future. So that's not going to give you your best life. I will do this now. If I
- 46:10lose weight, I will be means nothing. No. All you can do is choose the now. Yeah. And identify
- 46:16with who you are today with the person you want to be. But not everyone is I have to say that
- 46:20you have to train self-awareness. Yep. And steps are more self-aware than most. Yep. It's probably one
- 46:25of my gifts. So it's it's that's why I always say like you and I are both self-aware type people.
- 46:29Maybe you weren't when the past, but I've always been kind of a more self-aware human. So I always
- 46:34careful because I don't want to like my personality versus someone else because I've been through
- 46:38stuff. Yeah. But those little changes do happen. So if I'm on my phone. Yeah. And I'm swiping. Yeah.
- 46:44Because sometimes I do. I'm like go to the bathroom. Yeah. My legs get numb. Just like the Instagram
- 46:48videos. I'm like, well, that's 15 minutes. I'll never get back. I'll never get back. I like that's
- 46:53I heard my little girl out there. Yeah. She said I want you reading a book daddy. But I was swiping
- 46:57on my phone. And I'm like, so I feel it. Yeah. I feel that. I'm like. And then I just got to
- 47:03move on. That's not who I am. That hurts. That hurts. Yeah. Forgiveness myself. Yeah.
- 47:06Then get out there and be like, right now I'm going to go see her. I'm going to take that energy.
- 47:11That mistake. Not feel bad and eat the cake. Yeah. Not feel bad and drink the cup of coffee.
- 47:17Not feel bad and make myself upset and be myself. Like numb and numb myself with food or drink.
- 47:23Or work. Yeah. Yeah. I will go out there and I will take that 15 minutes and I'll put it into
- 47:28her so that the 50, the 10 minutes that I lost because, you know, nothing wrong with five minutes.
- 47:33Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Well, I think it's also about intentionality. There's times I'm like,
- 47:37I'm going to spend the next 15 minutes just numbing out. And that's okay. Self comfort is okay.
- 47:43Sometimes it just can't be the norm. One of the things that you said about self-awareness is
- 47:46where I very much believe self-awareness is health. That is the definition of health. If we,
- 47:51I have a whole chapter on my book called none of this will work. None of what I'm about to teach you
- 47:55in this book is going to work if you are not actually aware. And I say self-consciousness is a disease,
- 48:00self-awareness is health. In the middle, in the minute we're looking at other people and doing
- 48:04that comparison game, that's when self-consciousness falls in. And then that's where the disease comes in.
- 48:10But self-awareness is really where health starts. And if we can start to just do that, we can all be
- 48:16more self-aware without having to buy one single thing. It's just this kind of like New York City
- 48:22where I live right outside of. There's this poster on the subway that says if you see something,
- 48:27say something, you'll start to see it and you'll start to have to say something to yourself because
- 48:31you'll start to notice it. But that's why to me, morning time is so important because it gives you
- 48:36an opportunity to actually intentionally sit before the chaos of life and say, what am I doing? And
- 48:42then I can analyze what I did the day before in the morning. Okay, I didn't make the best choice.
- 48:47I sat on my phone for 15 minutes, what was the trigger and analyze that behavior and I will
- 48:51always do better than the next day or I'll always do better the next day than I did the day before.
- 48:56And then evolution happens. And then all of a sudden before you knew it. You're 51 and 38,
- 49:00you're all. Yeah, exactly. I mean, it change does happen, you know. It does. The 1% concept is
- 49:05really key. In fact, when we train health pros like nutritionists and dietitians to teach a
- 49:10different way, personal trainers, we actually help, we actually have a program that they put their
- 49:14clients since you called the 100 days of 1% and the idea is 1% every day for 100 days. You learn
- 49:20100% of the concepts and then you go back and revisit it over and over and over and over again.
- 49:26To me, it's a little bit like reading the Bible where you could read it a hundred times and get
- 49:29something different out of every single time because 1% really matters. Plus your four quadrants change.
- 49:35Your four quadrants will evolve and that cycle of self sabotage where your brain is like, I don't
- 49:41want to do new. If you're just committing to 1% a day, then your brain kind of gets tricked into
- 49:46believing, Oh, wait, this is what we do. This is who we are. Like, this isn't new. I know.
- 49:52Then you've slowly introduced new again. You slowly introduced new. But I also say the concept
- 49:56of living in the now is one of the philosophies of how I teach people how to eat. So I teach when
- 50:02I teach blood sugar stabilization, I teach what's called PFC 3 protein fat and carbohydrate every
- 50:07three hours. Small portions where we're always ready to eat then satisfied. And the idea is like
- 50:13carbs, yeah, they spike our blood sugar. But if we vegetables and fruit are also carbs, like we
- 50:17always go to bread and rice, you know, things like that. But carbs, yes, they'll spike our blood
- 50:23sugar, which will wreak havoc on our body. But they also give us the energy that we need. And we
- 50:27need carbs. But if we can have a protein with it instead of having it by itself, that protein
- 50:32will take the place of the insulin that would have to come out if your body was trying to
- 50:36balance his blood sugar on its own. So it can mitigate a blood sugar spike. And then when we have
- 50:39fat with our protein in our carbs, that actually slows down our digestion. If fuels our brain,
- 50:44it cushions our organs, the three were actually meant to be eaten together. But what's so powerful
- 50:49about it is not just that it will balance your blood sugar. And we'll wear continuous glucose
- 50:52monitors. I can see the science of the beautiful little rolling hills eating all day long and being
- 50:58completely satisfied, cravings going away, and your body in total homeostasis. That helps with
- 51:04your mood, it helps with your energy, it helps with anxiety. But what's really amazing about it is
- 51:09your next meal is just three hours away. So if it's sort of the philosophy of life, if you screw up
- 51:12a meal and you spiked your blood sugar, whatever it is, your next meal is three hours away. And so that's
- 51:17sort of like life, right? Okay, you didn't make a great choice. All right, your next meal is three
- 51:22hours away. And it's sort of like our phrase that we talk about when it's not even about food.
- 51:26Okay, I yelled at my kids, my next meal is three hours away. And if we just live with that kind
- 51:31of philosophy, with the ideas, I'm just going to do better. And my next attempt at this, I'm always
- 51:37going to get better. And my bad before is not even close to what my bad looks like now, because I'm
- 51:43continuing to evolve in that one percent mindset. That's actually anti some of the nutrition or
- 51:50health experts that are out there, even functional medicine doctors, but oh no, you need to fast
- 51:55longer. You need to not snack if you will, but you are controlling it's every three hours. You're
- 51:59not snacking. We're not snacking. You don't need to snack. And the concept of fasting like is
- 52:05really a lot of it is about it now again, I'm going to go back to the why when you tell women to
- 52:10fast, it's always about weight loss. There are other benefits around fasting more for men than for
- 52:15women. Yeah, it is much harder for women to find a true hormonal balance when you're fasting,
- 52:21but we fast when we sleep, we do. That's why breakfast breakfast was named, right? But we have
- 52:27seen in the 20 plus years that we've been teaching this way of eating how it's literally reversed
- 52:33metabolic disease, reversed it. And so I have clients that have reversed diabetes in four months
- 52:40and have now off every single medication that they were on eating in this way. And so fasting,
- 52:48it's really about what you want, why you want it. I'll have many women that say I've tried
- 52:52fasting. It's just a bougie way of really stricting calories. That's what it ends up being
- 52:57for most people. And so that's what I'm trying to get around and the question about your kids.
- 53:02Would you let your kids do it, right? It depends on what you're trying to do and why you're trying
- 53:07to do it. And I have no, I will say I'll never tell anybody what the canner can't do. I want
- 53:12everybody to be empowered to make their own decisions. And I get the reason why, especially for men,
- 53:17they decide to fast on a general rule when it comes to the population that truly wants to
- 53:24be healthy and sustain something over time. It's not necessary. It just isn't. And we see that
- 53:31when you are we're not the average American when you think about eating all day long, they're
- 53:36eating big meals. We're spiking our blood sugar. There's a myth that says every time we eat your
- 53:40spiker blood sugar, we don't spike our blood sugar every time we eat that huge when we're eating
- 53:46PFC3. And we're always ready to eat and then satisfied. We're not really, really hungry and we're
- 53:51not really, really full. And I get the concept of autophagy. Yeah.
- 53:56Totally. But we can also, especially as women, get it in other ways. And there's some ways that
- 54:00we can supplement that we can also sauna. Like sauna is an amazing way. It's lots of ways to get
- 54:05to hormisis and exactly, exactly. But I will tell you that especially for women who have died of
- 54:10their whole lives and you tell them to start fasting, do it all for the wrong reasons and do it in a
- 54:14very, very unhealthy way. And it really isn't necessary. And listen, I'm 38 now. Yeah. That's
- 54:2051. And you're not probably not doing, are you, do you do peptides though? I actually have been
- 54:25doing a few peptides right now for, I'm doing, yeah, for my hip because I've always had a problematic
- 54:31hip. And that I do peptides for. Yeah. Again, it's not inflammation. It's the why. Yeah. That's
- 54:37real reason. And I want to live to 120 with a very, very high quality of life still serving my
- 54:44purpose. So everything I do is around that and not around an ego of what other people think of.
- 54:49Then I believe you. Well, it has taken a long time to do that, right? I was a division one college
- 54:53cheerleader. And everything was about your size, everything. And so coming off of that and having
- 54:59an eating disorder and then being raised in diaculture, I mean, this has been a journey for decades,
- 55:05right? But I continue to evolve in a way that I feel like is going towards a blueprint.
- 55:10Then you're trying to bring some people along with me because I'm not saying I don't want people
- 55:15to lose weight or to use, you know, recognize that like weight gain is a problem, but it's a symptom.
- 55:24And we keep going after the symptom and not the root cause. And that's what I want to shift.
- 55:28I love it. So what I want to shift is the culture, especially with the youth in high school,
- 55:35even in college, they're looking a certain way. They're spray tanning. They're on GLP ones
- 55:41literally in high school to look a certain way and they're feeling that pressure.
- 55:46Yep. What do you say to the moms that are watching their girls just fall apart with this culture?
- 55:52When my daughter bought that crown for herself at 14, she didn't have one single friend at her
- 55:57birthday party. She didn't talk for years. We have pictures of her like she never spoke in class.
- 56:03And I worked really hard to be the loudest voice in the room.
- 56:09But I also was going through my own journey because I realized that my own belief systems
- 56:14were not where I wanted hers to be. And I think the first thing we have to do is parents
- 56:18is say, what do I believe? Like what do I really believe is true about me, my worth, my body?
- 56:24If I think I have to look a certain way, why? Because we cannot teach what we don't believe.
- 56:30And if it doesn't start with ourselves, we'll never get it through to our kids ever.
- 56:35And that's where it started with me. And that's why I know that my daughters are where they are now.
- 56:40Because despite the diet culture that I mean they all have Instagram, they have the TikTok,
- 56:45they have the all of it. But my voice had to be the loudest. But I couldn't have a loud voice if
- 56:51I didn't have the beliefs that I wanted them to embody. So I had to work through myself first.
- 56:55So the best way to help your teenager is to help yourself.
- 56:59Absolutely. And if you're in that journey at the same time as your teenager to just
- 57:04be real honest, right? Like this is what I struggle with. This is what I'm doing. Grace and
- 57:09Ellie and I have had lots of conversations about where my mindset was about my body and why I felt
- 57:16a certain way. And it gave them permission to talk about it too. I have a lot of moms that will
- 57:22come to me and say, my daughter actually, she's actually fine. She goes to the gym all the time.
- 57:26She doesn't have a weight problem. I'm like literally 87% of females have body image issues.
- 57:33If we don't talk about it just because they're not overweight, understand that the other people
- 57:38that are talking about it are going to infiltrate their belief systems. It's the Subaru cross track.
- 57:42It's the loudest voice in the world. The loudest voice wins. So I love that. So being honest with
- 57:47your kids, talking to them about this culture, this dieting culture, this over how to even say
- 57:54sexualized culture to look a certain way and the reasons behind that and some of the program.
- 57:59There's nothing like looking beautiful and sexy. Like I get it. But at the same time,
- 58:03there is that culture and you need to talk about it and be the loudest voice in the room. Be
- 58:08honest and not judgmental, right? So how do you do that? You're talking about it and then your
- 58:13daughter is going to be. Just don't do it too often like I do or what. Well, it's like I
- 58:20wouldn't catch myself and I'll be like, you know what? I actually don't think I should have
- 58:22said it that way. What I'm just realizing about what I said was blank and actually do a think
- 58:27allowed out loud with them if you need to. But also realize that as you're going through your
- 58:31own journey of self discovery and this is why in morning time, I always say there's three parts
- 58:35of morning time getting grounded gratitude having some sort of devotion or time with God to be able
- 58:39to recognize the message that you need to hear to learning something new. Because when we learn
- 58:44something new and I always have some sort of nonfiction book, even if it's just a chapter or something
- 58:49where I'm permeating my brain with new actual knowledge because we get stuck in what we've always
- 58:55known or what we believe and then actually time blocking and being really intentional with my day,
- 58:59then I start to rethink my own beliefs and my own stuff. And I am then really empowered to be
- 59:07able to have different language with my kids. But again, getting getting real with them is really
- 59:12huge. I would also say that we have to think about how we say things without actually realizing
- 59:19that we're saying it's the metacognition thinking about our thinking. There's a lot of times. Well
- 59:23like somebody will say, do you want cake? It's like, oh no, I shouldn't. You can just say no.
- 59:28No, thank you. Right. But the minute it's like, no, I should be in bad. All right, I'll do it.
- 59:34I used to squeeze the fat in the back of my legs while I was in the mirror. Imagine what they
- 59:38would look like when they were smaller and my kids would walk in. And they would see me in the way
- 59:41that I would look at myself in the mirror. And these are all little nuances that are saying to our
- 59:47girls, the corset is on and you need to continue to tighten it in order to have value. We actually
- 59:52have to believe and take off our corset, but then put on the crowd. Now take off the corset and say
- 59:56screw it. Take off the corset. Put on the crown and say, I love myself too much to mistreat my body
- 1:00:02and my mind and to do things for reasons of ego versus heart. And these, my daughter's 21 right
- 1:00:11now and she's living by herself in an apartment. And it's like moments where you realize they did
- 1:00:17hear me because there were times I'm like, they didn't listen to us. They didn't listen to us. And
- 1:00:21how many times did we say things and they roll their eyes at us or they didn't believe us or they
- 1:00:27didn't seem like they were listening. But once they get into their early 20s, late teens,
- 1:00:32early 20s, you start to see what we said really did stick and they're believing it. There's a
- 1:00:39reason why they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. And I think we have to be really
- 1:00:43cognizant of that and recognize that we're planting seeds and they will harvest a really great
- 1:00:49bountiful, beautiful garden if we give it time and consistency. That's your legacy.
- 1:00:57It really is. It has to be raising strong, independent, women, men that value themselves. You
- 1:01:05just made weight loss spiritual because you don't, if you do it for ego, just like business,
- 1:01:11like if you're doing it for ego, you're going to fail. You're going to make a bunch of money
- 1:01:13and you realize what the heck am I doing? I've obtained all this and it means nothing. And you're
- 1:01:19done because you did it for ego, not because of heart. You want to change the world. You want to see
- 1:01:21lives changed. And we're in an ego driven society with a lot of things that we do. And then we have
- 1:01:26good heart-centered people in there, working for these individuals. It's being taken advantage of
- 1:01:31the system. They get frustrated. They come out of it, whether it's nutritionists or medical doctor
- 1:01:35or nurse and like, look, I'm going to do it the right way. Or like my wife, like she was a
- 1:01:41end of life nurse, dementia nurse. And she's just like, I don't want to do this anymore. And she
- 1:01:48was going to be a chiropractor. So we do it with dieting. We lose the weight. We look a certain
- 1:01:52way and we still don't love ourselves. No. And we're miserable. And now we're sick. And or have
- 1:01:58bigger health problems. And so we chase this. We do it all for ego. And when we should do it for
- 1:02:04heart, it's because I love myself that I want to be a good husband. I want to be a good father.
- 1:02:09I want to be connected to nature and life again. I want to feel again. I want to have energy
- 1:02:14again. Like I just want to be fully me. Like it's a big difference when you look at whether any
- 1:02:20area of your life, it is a spiritual decision of hard energy. Why am I doing this? What is the real
- 1:02:28good high level high frequencies serving humanity first serving myself? Of course, but
- 1:02:35truly creating something beautiful, like a beautiful flower, right? Versus a flower that you grow
- 1:02:43with synthetic chemicals that is going to be that my look good. Yeah, it's going to shrivel up and
- 1:02:47die and poison the planet, right? Do we want to give life or do we want to take life? And yeah,
- 1:02:53and I think the thing is what I look at this weight loss journey in a very different way.
- 1:03:01But I think the reason why we haven't dug into it, like as a person that's been an entrepreneur
- 1:03:07for many years, I've heard all of these pieces around the mindset to around business and things
- 1:03:12like that. But the problem is we keep using the word weight loss. That is a big piece of this
- 1:03:17problem because what we're saying is, no, we mean health. No, we mean health because obesity
- 1:03:22and weight is a direct correlation with health. And I'm like, no, no, no, we have too narrow
- 1:03:27of you of the definition of health. And if we actually take that out further, we will solve the
- 1:03:31weight loss problem. But we keep focusing on weight loss. So therefore we keep focusing on the wrong
- 1:03:37things. And that's what I want to disrupt. And I know that it works because not a theory.
- 1:03:42I've done this for decades and see it in action. And I want everybody to experience it. Because what
- 1:03:48we're really looking for with weight loss is a piece within ourselves. That's what we want. We want
- 1:03:54to feel strong and confident. And like we know who we are, what we're searching for is that spiritual
- 1:04:01connection. And we have been told a bunch of lies that it's through a weight loss journey. And it
- 1:04:05just isn't. I joke because our youngest daughter is adopted. And we were living in Singapore actually
- 1:04:10she's Chinese. And we were flying to China. And she was three years old. And she said,
- 1:04:14when we get to China, I'll speak Chinese. We adopted her when she was 10 weeks old. She didn't
- 1:04:18speak Chinese. She was when we get to China, I'll speak Chinese. And I said, okay, why? She was
- 1:04:23because I'm Chinese. So when we get to China, I will be able to speak Chinese. And of course,
- 1:04:27we land in China. And she goes, I can't speak Chinese. And we're like, yeah, I know. And it sounds
- 1:04:33so silly. We knew that she wasn't going to be able to speak Chinese. But this is what we do with
- 1:04:36weight loss. We think, if I lose weight, then I'll be confident. Then I'll be peaceful. Then I'll
- 1:04:40have happiness. And I'm like, you don't just arrive and think it's going to happen. It's the work
- 1:04:46that you have to actually put in to actually get there has nothing to do with weight loss.
- 1:04:50Had nothing to do with us being in China for Ellie to be able to speak Chinese. She actually had
- 1:04:55to do the work to learn Chinese in order to speak Chinese. And we actually have to do the work to
- 1:05:00love ourselves and be confident to actually be confident weight loss isn't going to get us there.
- 1:05:05Although, and that's where people think, well, you don't care about weight loss. I do,
- 1:05:09but for the right reasons, because we're just getting sicker and sicker going after the wrong
- 1:05:14ones. So what would you say to the woman listening to this being like, oh my gosh,
- 1:05:18I mean, my ego, I'm looking in the mirror. I'm looking at my butt. I'm doing it for the wrong
- 1:05:22reasons. Being a bad role model for my daughters. Now some of my daughters are doing the same thing.
- 1:05:27Like we'll be the first thing you would say to them to get out of ego and into their heart.
- 1:05:31The very first thing is I talk about this on metabolic pyramid. I call it the modern day pyramid scheme.
- 1:05:37And at the very bottom of the pyramid is like off the pyramid. Like is health, right? Like that's
- 1:05:44where we want to be. But we're all on this pyramid. And what we don't realize is the top of the pyramid
- 1:05:49is diabetes, prediabetes, cancer, stroke, dementia, Alzheimer's. And weight gain is a symptom
- 1:05:57of our health. And so I want to light a fire under your butt if you are in a place where you have
- 1:06:04very stubborn weight loss. You are not at your optimal weight, even though you don't know
- 1:06:07necessarily what that is. You know you're not at your optimal health because we're going to go
- 1:06:12up this pyramid because it starts with symptoms. When we have symptoms like stubborn weight loss,
- 1:06:16weight gain, insomnia, fatigue, brain fog, hormonal balances, depression, anxiety,
- 1:06:26acne, IBS, any of these symptoms that I know we have in addition to a body, right?
- 1:06:33Then we realize, oh my gosh, I'm actually not in a healthy place. Those are symptoms. And we
- 1:06:38have a medication for every single one of them. But if we realize that the next step up is metabolic
- 1:06:44dysfunction where we have insulin resistance and we have non-alcoholic fatty liver disease,
- 1:06:48high cholesterol, high blood pressure, that's the next step. You're going in that direction.
- 1:06:53I don't want you to look at your body and get mad at your body because of the way you look.
- 1:06:56I want you to look at your body and be like, is this the epitome of health right now? If not,
- 1:07:00I am going to be at the top of that pyramid. It's just a matter of time. And there's only one
- 1:07:05direction. But in order to get off that, I actually have to show up for myself differently. As a result,
- 1:07:11yeah, I'll lose the weight, but I actually have to respect myself so much. I look at that mirror
- 1:07:15and say, there is so much value in this person. There is so much potential here that she's not
- 1:07:21serving because she's going after the wrong things. So I actually say, get your why based in a
- 1:07:27deep desire to truly be healthy. Otherwise, you're going to be at the top of that pyramid and you're
- 1:07:31going to die in your 70s, like 90% of the people are metabolic disease. And I don't say that to
- 1:07:36scare people, but I do say it to shift their priorities. I want them to do something different,
- 1:07:41so they can get something different. And it doesn't mean I want them to take off the course to
- 1:07:44and be like, forget it. I'm not doing anything because that's what ends up happening. They end up
- 1:07:48looking themselves and say, forget it. I don't care anymore. I want you to care, but for the right
- 1:07:52reasons, like your health is all you have. There should be nothing that's a higher priority than
- 1:07:57you taking care of your health because then you could be a better parent. Then you can be a better
- 1:08:01employee or business owner. Then you can actually show up for people in your church or in your
- 1:08:05community better. And we just keep prioritizing what I look like. And instead, I want to let a
- 1:08:09fire into your butt and say, no, that's actually a symptom of your health. And your life is way
- 1:08:14too important for you not to focus on that. And it shifts us into a heart-driven reasons to show
- 1:08:21up for ourselves. Does that make sense? Yeah, it makes sense. Yeah, because I don't want to shame
- 1:08:26people like also like I want you to look good. You know, it's like there's nothing wrong with looking
- 1:08:30good and being proud of yourself. It comes naturally. Yeah, it comes naturally. Yeah, like you know,
- 1:08:33like you can see a person that embodies like confidence and health. And they might not look like
- 1:08:41someone else of a smaller size, but they could be you don't have to have a flat belly to be to be
- 1:08:45healthy. You just don't. But like we see all over Instagram, do these five things to have a
- 1:08:50perfectly fat belly and the flat belly workout. But do you really want? Now we know the visceral fat
- 1:08:57around our belly tells us something very important about our health. And that is a symptom I want
- 1:09:03us to work towards, but not because you think that you are more valuable with a flat belly. It's
- 1:09:09nuanced, but it really makes a very big difference in how we show up and how we look at ourselves
- 1:09:13on the air. You're looking yourself. You're just devaluing yourself. It's like I look like crap.
- 1:09:16I have this belly and you know, I'm going to do all these workouts so I can get it and then you get
- 1:09:21it. And then. And the other thing that I say all the time is in that morning time when I talk
- 1:09:25about gratitude is what can you be grateful for about your body? So many of these women, especially
- 1:09:29that I work with, have birth multiple children. They're going to have a little bit of a belly. But
- 1:09:33they've actually like birthed miracles. Like we don't give ourselves enough credit for what our
- 1:09:38bodies do. I have a push because I had three babies, four babies, one baby. Yeah. I birthed human
- 1:09:44life. Also like I work, I move, I walk like all you have to do is get injured and hurt yourself and
- 1:09:50not be able to move to then be really grateful for when you can move. And I think we're not grateful
- 1:09:55enough for what our body does. We're always looking at what it isn't doing and we're always
- 1:09:59mad at ourselves instead of being grateful for ourselves. So that's the next piece of it.
- 1:10:03What do you find a way to be grateful for your body in some way every single day?
- 1:10:07It changes. It's the Subaru Cross check effect. You make me really grateful for my wife because
- 1:10:11she's teaching our girls really well. That is so good. And I'm seeing my daughters make really good
- 1:10:15decisions and everything that you're saying is how a lot of the things how she raises them.
- 1:10:20So much so happy that she they're going to be fine. She steps on. They're going to be fine.
- 1:10:24Yeah. They're doing well. So they're very encouraged by this. But speaking of taking off the
- 1:10:30corset and putting on the crown, it's your new book. It's going to be released. We're going to
- 1:10:34go after this thing, make it a New York Times best seller. So where can they get that? Where can
- 1:10:38they find you? Yeah. It really is the book I think I needed and I reread my own book many times
- 1:10:43and every time I read it, I'm like, oh my gosh. Yes. That's the book. We have to tell ourselves
- 1:10:47this truth because we all get inundated with the stuff. And so we have to have
- 1:10:52something that's grounding us and what's true. So yeah, from corset to crown, disrupting everything
- 1:10:55you've been told about weight loss, confidence and self-worth comes out in the fall. But right now
- 1:11:00people can pre-order it and get the e-book right away, which is really cool, especially with a
- 1:11:06whole bunch of other bonuses of some study guides. I'd love for women to be able to in men. Actually,
- 1:11:12I've been really attracted to this book as well in book studies and actually talking with other
- 1:11:17people around this because I think one of the things that we don't realize is that we're not in
- 1:11:20this alone, most of us feel this way. We don't know how to get out of it. And this is a real
- 1:11:27a step-by-step way of how to shift our thinking and our doing to be able to get out of this trap
- 1:11:33that we're in. So then we have a great book study guide for people to do this with friends
- 1:11:39and to be able to work together to be able to take that corset off because it's not something
- 1:11:42you just do and it's hard. It's been on us for a really long time.
- 1:11:47Yeah, it's like a tree that's grown around on something. It's a really good metaphor for that.
- 1:11:54I just saw that because I believe it because what we've been told about ourselves and the lies we've
- 1:11:58been told and men speaking down against women and saying you need a breast implant because you
- 1:12:03want to look like all these other women like this grossness that our society has created
- 1:12:08and it's just tightening the corset. And it's a continuum, right? There's something
- 1:12:11you'll all never do that, but I will do these other things. So we have to really decide
- 1:12:16every day. What are we doing? Why are we doing it? But one thing I love about the book is my mom
- 1:12:20who struggled with her own disordered eating and self-worth and has still working through it.
- 1:12:26She's an artist and she drew a flower at the end of every chapter. And the goal is after you
- 1:12:32reflect and go to the library and kind of have your little little legal pad after each chapter,
- 1:12:38you pick up these flowers that she makes. And at the end, there's a whole bouquet waiting for you.
- 1:12:42And so our goal is that women will buy themselves a bouquet of flowers. They will buy themselves a
- 1:12:48TR from Amazon, just like Grace did, and take a picture and really affirm their self worth
- 1:12:54and what they know to be true about who they are in their purpose and show up from themselves
- 1:12:58in the way that we show them to because they love themselves so much. So it's a pretty cool
- 1:13:02interactive way to know it's brilliant because it creates the right kind of feedback loop,
- 1:13:07which you need to change behavior. Like you've put it, this is all science. It's all science.
- 1:13:11Everything you've done is you've put some serious thought in this thing. It's not just a book,
- 1:13:16to write a book. It's a book that you want to have. I wanted to write a book for a long time,
- 1:13:20but it was like finally last year, I did a TEDx actually. And when you do a TED talk, you have to
- 1:13:26consolidate your message in 15 minutes. And that forced me into what is the real message here?
- 1:13:32And then that got me really clear on finally being able to write the book.
- 1:13:35Yeah, I'd love it. I think we went over most of the book here.
- 1:13:37I know, a lot of it. There's still actually so much more stuff.
- 1:13:40Of course, yeah, I know. I'm just saying it was a wonderful conversation. I learned so much today.
- 1:13:45I'm going to fully read your book. I've read some of it, but I'm going to fully read your book.
- 1:13:49And I'm really excited to do it. And I want to share with a lot of my friends because I have a
- 1:13:54lot of friends that are trapped in this very thing. I think some of it, some of these belief structures
- 1:13:59are inside of me. So I'm looking forward on what my daughter to read it. And she's, you know,
- 1:14:0614 and I mean, she's doing amazing, but this is this is the type, this is what I'd want my daughter
- 1:14:10to read. And I think we'll give them the language too to be able to have really interesting
- 1:14:15conversations with their friends who will need it as well. Because I always say we can learn it
- 1:14:19and do it for ourselves, but really our goal is to serve others. So once we know something,
- 1:14:23then we actually have to share it with others. Yeah, she watches her friends like some of their,
- 1:14:27you know, other friends and they're on calorie restriction. And they're just, I know at 14.
- 1:14:31And they're they're drinking sugar, you know, that's all they're drinking as a sugary drink. Yes.
- 1:14:35And to calorie strict and that spray tanning and like all that stuff, just to look a certain way,
- 1:14:41and then they're still gaining weight because they're broken metabolically. Exactly. And then they
- 1:14:44get on a GLP one because their friends are, yeah, it's literally happening right in front of it.
- 1:14:49It really is. And you're in that age range right now, but I really walk through all of that in the
- 1:14:53book. And I believe that like in school lunches today, if you just do salad and a kids lunch,
- 1:14:58you're not going to eat it. But if you can actually help them to understand what's going on in
- 1:15:02their body and why serving your body matter so much, they will choose the healthier options.
- 1:15:08We just aren't giving them the education to be able to do that. So I believe that truly this,
- 1:15:14this knowledge base then also aligned with a change of beliefs and a heightened awareness
- 1:15:21can literally change the way the world looks at food in their bodies. And that's my goal.
- 1:15:24And other countries do look at it that way. No, we're like, we're all convoluted up here.
- 1:15:29Yeah, we think we're all, you know, smart in America. My daughter's reading about Italy right now.
- 1:15:32She's like, you know what? They serve organic food. Yes. I've lived in Asia. I even know that.
- 1:15:36No, I lived in Asia. I've lived in Europe. I've lived in Mexico. And it's unbelievably different.
- 1:15:42It's like when you come back, your eyes are opened. And like I said, once you see something,
- 1:15:45you'll have to say something. And so I think this book is allowing people to start seeing things
- 1:15:49differently. And then they'll have to start saying things. We'll share this podcast, everybody.
- 1:15:52Yes. You know, say it loud. This is one of my favorite podcasts I've ever had. And I rarely say that.
- 1:15:59No offense to all the other podcasts out there. Of course not. But I just, I was really inspired.
- 1:16:04I learned so much about myself and how I think and how I can be better. So there's some things here
- 1:16:09that I can't unsee. Exactly. So where can they find you on Instagram and things like that?
- 1:16:14So carry underscore LePoly and Instagram. And my website is carrylePoly.com.
- 1:16:19That's where you can get the book. And that's where you can kind of learn all the ways that
- 1:16:23we work to disrupt the BS of the diet industry and replace it with the BS we really need,
- 1:16:27belief systems, behavioral science and blood sugar. Yeah. So let's just I'm going to remind
- 1:16:31everybody. You're loved. You're awesome. You're beautiful. You're kind. You're a good human.
- 1:16:37And you deserve the best life. And you deserve more than weight loss, right? You deserve to
- 1:16:43have a higher purpose and be connected with each other and your family at a much higher level.
- 1:16:48And we've learned one way to do that today through your work. So we're just honored to be here
- 1:16:53and honored to share you with this beautiful audience that allows me for whatever reason. You know,
- 1:16:59that they see my heart to to help people and I'm bringing good people on. And you've been one of
- 1:17:05the top top pod. So I love it. Thank you so much for being here. Thank you. Well worth the trip to
- 1:17:09come out to meet you and to do this together.
