- France keeps rolling! This is The Sports Reset for Friday, July 10. In the World Cup quarterfinals, France beat Morocco 2 to 0 at Gillette Stadium. The defining sequence was Kylian Mbappe shaking off a saved first-half penalty, then curling in the opener after halftime. Ousmane Dembele later finished it off, sending France into a third straight World Cup semifinal and keeping Mbappe in the Golden Boot conversation. In WTA tennis, Wimbledon got an all-Czech final: Karolina Muchova outlasted Coco Gauff 6-2, 1-6, 7-6, while Linda Noskova beat Marta Kostyuk 6-4, 6-4. In MLB, the New York Yankees rolled past the Tampa Bay Rays 12 to 4, while the Philadelphia Phillies edged the Cincinnati Reds 1 to 0 in the tightest baseball result of the night. In the WNBA, the Indiana Fever beat the Phoenix Mercury 92 to 89, and the Atlanta Dream handled the Seattle Storm 89 to 78. Looking ahead, today’s biggest event is another World Cup quarterfinal, with Belgium meeting Spain at SoFi Stadium and the winner moving into the semifinal slot opposite France next Tuesday. In MLB, the Houston Astros visit the Texas Rangers in the sharpest divisional matchup on the slate, while the Arizona Diamondbacks head to Dodger Stadium to face the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Boston Red Sox visit the New York Mets at Citi Field. In the WNBA, the Golden State Valkyries visit the Connecticut Sun, the Dallas Wings face the Toronto Tempo at Bell Centre, and the Chicago Sky meet the Los Angeles Sparks in Los Angeles. In golf, the Genesis Scottish Open continues with Jordan Smith and Matt Fitzpatrick tied at 7 under, while Aki Iwai leads the Amundi Evian Championship at 8 under. Beyond the scoreboard, LeBron James’ free-agency watch remains the NBA’s loudest off-court story.
