- 0:02This is an Unspoiled Network podcast. This is spoil Me, covering one piece
- 0:09episodes four forty nine through four fifty one, Magellan's Tricky Move, a foiled
- 0:15escape plan, the Escapee Team in trouble, the Forbidden Move, Venom Demon,
- 0:21and come Final Miracle break through the Gate of Justice. In these episodes,
- 0:28I think I accidentally talked about episode four to forty nine, last episode,
- 0:32which is the second time that I fucked it up. Sorry about that,
- 0:34guys. But then we have a really heart wrenching goodbye from mister two
- 0:39and I am so sad about it. Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to
- 1:03the show everyone. I am Natasha hey, and I'm Floya. Hello.
- 1:07Hey, Florian is here. After a few failed attempts, we have gotten
- 1:12it working. Yay. We love technology. Oh man, It's like it's
- 1:18such a miracle and when it works, it's amazing, and when it doesn't
- 1:23work, you feel like it's personal. Yes, you know, like really
- 1:27offended, Like yeah, all right, so you know what I have to
- 1:33ask you off the top, why did you choose these episodes to do a
- 1:36want to be episode for Well, yeah, the MVP, mister tu Bonclay
- 1:45like honestly, I have to pay my respects. Oh my god, I
- 1:51love him, so do you guys know how gratified I am by his character
- 1:57arc. I really thought that the whole thing with Alabasta, that was it,
- 2:05and I hadn't yet understood back then the trope with like a long running
- 2:12anime that characters come back all the time. So now that I'm beginning to
- 2:19understand that, even though I'll be sad to say goodbye to somebody, it
- 2:23is in the back of my mind maybe we will see them again. But
- 2:25at the time, with you know, the way he gave himself up,
- 2:30I was just like, that is a really great end for that character.
- 2:35But I'm so sad that we only just became friends and he's gone. And
- 2:38then this episode, like I had this arc full of Bonclay so great,
- 2:46and then he sacrifices again, and I was just like, I just want
- 2:53him to be with our friends and be happy and not have to keep doing
- 2:57this all the time. And I love him and I admire him and I
- 3:00respect him, But also, wasn't there another way? There wasn't, But
- 3:07I'm really sad. Yes, that's that's what's really the sad part about it.
- 3:13Oh my god, I speaking of your courage before I started again listening
- 3:20to from the beginning to be honest, Oh my really, yes, you
- 3:28just like entered the Grand Line now, meeting Lagoon and VV and everybody there
- 3:35for the first time. And what I found really funny, like when you
- 3:39talked about Buggy one point, you were like, I just I just want
- 3:43them to have like not team up, but have like a address like an
- 3:47enemy enemy kind of thing going on. You know, you straight up said
- 3:52that I don't remember that. That's fun. It was like, yeah,
- 3:57I mean back then, I already knew that it would true, but now
- 4:00you know it as well, So yay. That's something that I really like
- 4:04about the live action is, you know, because they have to have certain
- 4:09characters, like the actors are on contract to show up a certain number of
- 4:14times. You can't just have somebody like on and off again the way you
- 4:17can in the anime. So they have had to make Buggy a recurring character
- 4:24in a way that he wasn't for that arc. And I really really like
- 4:28it. It's absolutely you know, like just like my two cents to the
- 4:33live action, I loved it. I think it's great, and I think
- 4:39it brings a whole new audience to one piece as well. Like, yes,
- 4:45I've seen a lot of YouTube reactions and stuff like that of people who
- 4:49have never watched it or anything, and a lot of them also started in
- 4:55the anime, and I mean, I feel like that's what they wanted.
- 5:00So yeah, that's true too, and like I feel like it's a good
- 5:05and truth. Like I have friends that tried to watch the anime and they
- 5:11really couldn't get into it because of the slow pacing and everything. And I
- 5:18feel like the show is able to tighten things up so much that they still
- 5:23get to be part of a fandom with it and know the characters really well
- 5:27because they're very true to the characters. But they get a viewing experience that
- 5:31aligns more with what they were hoping for, you know, so it sort
- 5:38of works out. It's like you can't just do the live action and you
- 5:45know you're not getting the full effect of everything else. But it's early days
- 5:48yet, Like I wonder how long they'll be able to keep this show going.
- 5:54I mean, yes, see things crossed. I mean I just hope
- 5:58the best for this project. Same we would see because the long age goes
- 6:03on the more difficulty could get. But yeah, so did you listen to
- 6:13my last recording because Michelle and s Tricky Escape move a foiled escape plan episode
- 6:17four forty nine, I could swear I talked about and I didn't go back
- 6:25and like re listen because I was rewatching right before recording with you, and
- 6:30it was then that I was like, hold on a second, so I
- 6:33didn't have time. But apologies to anybody listening who is like, bitch,
- 6:39don't you recall that you did this? I kind of recall I think I
- 6:43may have, and super super sorry about it. I hate fucking that up.
- 6:49It's really tough, though, because the number of episodes changes every time,
- 6:55and I will look at the spreadsheet and sometimes I will just register for
- 7:00three episodes today and I won't look specifically at the numbers. And I'm wondering
- 7:04if I looked at it like one particular day that was supposed to be just
- 7:08two and transposed the following day and was like, oh, it's three today
- 7:14and then wound up ahead of myself. So sorry everybody about that, because
- 7:20and it's a really good episode. I really enjoyed this, this first of
- 7:25the three. But yeah, no, but wait just to be clear.
- 7:30Which episodes did you watch for this? Now? Let's see, sorry,
- 7:36let me go back and make sure. Let's see you said four forty nine,
- 7:41four fifty four fifty one. That's what I said on my spreadsheet.
- 7:46I'm pretty sure. Am I wrong? Did it? Hold on? Hold
- 7:53on? Hold on? Because I feel like you you did. I did
- 7:57I short it or something? Then you did short it like hold on,
- 8:05which would not be two. I did short it. Oh my god,
- 8:15Flrian, Yeah, oh my god, I didn't watch four fifty two.
- 8:20I looked it up in a different way than I even thought. It's fine.
- 8:26Oh my god. I mean, I'm honestly mainly here for the one
- 8:31in the middle, so like the for fifty one, so the last one
- 8:37that you watched basically for you. I'm so sorry. Oh yeah, I
- 8:43kept thinking that's so weird. I could Oh my god, how did I
- 8:48miss thish y'all? I thought I was doing real well today too. I
- 8:54watched these three like, I watched these three episodes twice. I not only
- 8:58fucked up one time, I sucked it up twice. Boran, Oh my
- 9:03god, I'm such a no maybe a little a little bit, but but
- 9:13now honestly, honestly, and the I mean, I will not tell you
- 9:18what happens in the third of these episodes, but it's not like the reason
- 9:22it would, you know, for me. For me, it truly is
- 9:26like the whole book play stuff. Okay, that's still that's still in there.
- 9:31Well that's something m hmm. Well then we then maybe we have a
- 9:37little bit more time to talk about the character that I really like to laugh
- 9:43in this arc, and that's actually mister free Ah okay, because I don't
- 9:50know, like like the first time he showed up, I was like not
- 9:54really interested in him. I found it to be like kind of boring,
- 9:58and honestly, when you you know, it's the kindkind of thing when you
- 10:01go back and kind of would compare. It's not like that he's a totally
- 10:05different character, but he was way more serious and well even darker, you
- 10:11know. And this time I remember being genuinely like intimidated by him when he
- 10:16first showed up. Yeah, and so and here he is like way more
- 10:22comedy heavy in a way, and I don't know, I just love that
- 10:26and I just loved that he kind of had his moment helping against Michel,
- 10:31and yeah, I don't know, I just love this whole world, this
- 10:37basically magic system that all the created, where like there you have like this
- 10:43one like super strong power, you know like Magellan has, and then you
- 10:48have but maybe just you need the right counter to that, you know,
- 10:52like you need the one right power to counteract that. And I find that
- 10:58like defascinating. And we've seen it before with anal and Loofy, you know,
- 11:07like where anl was like electricity and oh right, and now because the
- 11:11then he called something different in the dub, I think, yeah, that's
- 11:18it. Yes, So every time you guys say that, I'm always just
- 11:20like who for a second, but A got it? Yeah, But basically
- 11:24like this principle of yeah, basically it's like a Pokemon thing, you know,
- 11:30like where water beats fire. Yes, yeah, I just find and
- 11:35I just find that super satisfying in a way. So totally agree. So
- 11:39like shout outs to mister Free. I'm not saying that he's like the best,
- 11:43but I find it pretty good in this one. You know what I
- 11:48like about the four forty nine is the one where he puts the wall up
- 11:54and unexpectedly is able to stop the huge tide of poison. Magel and is
- 11:58sending. But in that scene, there's a moment where Crocodile is like he
- 12:05says something really hard. She says something like I guess that piece of garbage
- 12:09was worth something after all, or made himself useful, like he's really mean
- 12:15and uh, because the whole like way things ended with Crocodile was him literally
- 12:24feeding mister three to what were those creatures called, I'm banana gators? Oh
- 12:35my god, I fucking forgot. Oh my god, I forgot that.
- 12:41There's like a little banana. What is that? Oh my god, hold
- 12:46on, I gotta look things up again. I gotta see these again.
- 12:50Banana gators? One? What? Why? Where did he this idea?
- 13:01I'm so sorry, I got guys. Okay, well, if you're already
- 13:09there and maybe you have remember you find these little ones also really funny.
- 13:13The messenger salamanders or like the like there were like little and I've got how
- 13:22you reptiles that like sprinted through the desert and they had like a bow tie
- 13:26and brought messengers and oh my god, I forgot about those guys, the
- 13:31boat ties and stuff. And they had like those legs that like, yes,
- 13:37that like come out like windmill. Oh my god, this whole series
- 13:43has some really unparalleled creature designs. Sometimes sometimes it's like a fucking horrible fever
- 13:50dream and I'm going this, I don't want to look at it. I
- 13:54hate it. And sometimes it's so like whim but it feels like a different
- 14:01series. Oh my god, the banana Gater guys, I'm just looking at
- 14:07all these pictures now, and I had forgotten and it is I had forgotten
- 14:13that the bananas are basically the same color as the rest of their skin,
- 14:18so it just looks like there's a banana lodged under their skin, which is
- 14:22such a weird choice. Like, I don't think it's less weird than making
- 14:28the banana on their head an actual banana color. That would be just as
- 14:31weird, but it's just unexpected. I'm sorry, I'm so distracted. Okay,
- 14:35let me close this window. Stop. But anyway, what I was
- 14:41saying was that mister Three's you know, been uh literally, somebody was like,
- 14:46you suck so bad at your job, I would rather you be dead.
- 14:50And then he gets thrown in prison, which I don't think we've gotten
- 14:54any stories about how they all wind up here. Do we like how each
- 14:58of them got got not really, I feel like there, I know there
- 15:05is like a cover story of this, like a side story. Oh,
- 15:11I don't know if we ever send it to you. I was, yeah,
- 15:13I was gonna ask if it was something that ever happens in the series,
- 15:18Like do we ever get this story? It's not. I don't need
- 15:22it, just to be clear, I'm not over here, Like I can't
- 15:24believe they haven't told us. It's fine, But I wouldn't be averse to
- 15:31it either. I if we, I think it would be better to have
- 15:35it be like the the backstories of maybe three characters in like one episode,
- 15:41instead of them each getting their own backstory episode and just kind of quickly go
- 15:46through that. Yeah, but uh, whatever it is, there's a sense
- 15:50for me when you're talking about how mister three used to be more serious than
- 15:54he is here and he feels a little bit more, he feels more silly,
- 15:58honestly, And I really am sort of putting that down to the fact
- 16:03that he fucked up so badly that he's lost a lot of self confidence and
- 16:10just doesn't take himself as seriously anymore because he thought he was a badass and
- 16:18then like turned out to be a fuck up and he has really some people
- 16:25they think they're a badass and they're a fuck up, and even so they
- 16:29don't recognize that they're a fuck up, and they continue to have the same
- 16:32level of confidence even though they should not. But mister three, I'm going
- 16:36to say that his confidence took a real hit and so he is like just
- 16:41finally starting to establish like maybe I can do some things right after all.
- 16:48So I'm going to see this as a redemption of his self confidence, which
- 16:51I don't really want because he's a bad man. Yeah, but you know
- 16:59fair Yeah, So Okay, I don't know where to start then, because
- 17:06I mean the last episode you already talked about it. Yeah, so we
- 17:10don't do that. We'll start with four point fifty the team. So this
- 17:18we pretty much like the way the last episode had we. This was something
- 17:26that I was particularly caught up by was the fact that these guys are launched
- 17:33onto one of the Navy ships and it's crocodile mister one. But what is
- 17:41mister one's name? Das Bones? Oh my god, that's right, because
- 17:48I always find that amazing. Das Bones. What a fucking name. That's
- 17:52really good. I like it. He doesn't deserve it he's not interesting enough.
- 17:57Well yeah, what is mister three's real name? Oh, I feel
- 18:06like it's like Galdino or Gandino. It's something with a G. Yeah.
- 18:11Yeah, but honestly he he for me like mister one and mister Free will
- 18:18always be mister one and mister Free to me personally. Like bon Clay,
- 18:23it is bon Chan or bond Clay for me mostly sometimes mister two. Yeah,
- 18:29I am locked into mister two, but I don't want to be because
- 18:33I like him too much to keep associating him with the baroque works. So
- 18:37I want to break out of it. But mister three and mister One can
- 18:41stay Mister three and mister one because I don't care about either of them enough.
- 18:44It's fine. And I mean, as long as he doesn't change his
- 18:48hair, there will always be a Free. So that was another thing,
- 18:52Yeah, that he's like labeled basically. I mean, he could change his
- 18:56hair. It's not like a tattoo or something, but I I like to
- 19:00think that he can't. He was there maybe, so yeah, the last
- 19:10episode had like ended with Jimbey launching them out, and then when I saw
- 19:18that like only Crocodile and mister one were standing. I was sort of like,
- 19:23what's going on because it turns out, like the launching, the action
- 19:29of it, Buggy gets injured in that action, so he's like crumpled up
- 19:36somewhere else on the deck. For a lot of this, well you see
- 19:41injurke like I mean, is he injured or injured? And you cannot see
- 19:45my quotation marks oh yeah for people listening. Uh, we finally got the
- 19:51sound working, but Florian cannot get his camera to work, so I cannot
- 19:56see his facial expressions. But it's like I saw a quick flash of what
- 20:06I thought was Buggy, like crumpled and unconscious, and I thought that was
- 20:11him on the deck of the ship, but maybe I misunderstood. No,
- 20:15oh, I mean it was supposed to be I mean it is. I
- 20:18think it is supposed to be dead, but still ah asy on purpose like
- 20:22being like oh no, I'm knocked out. I'm sorry, got you and
- 20:27I am down for that interpretation also, And we sort of just get a
- 20:36refresh of them being launched and how that's all going, and then we go
- 20:40back into the prison and we meet up with Eva and he is waking up.
- 20:48I'm so relieved, like I knew that the show doesn't kill anybody,
- 20:52so I know Eva's not, but I thought that maybe they had just been
- 20:56taken out of the equation for the moment, and I really did not want
- 21:02that. I enjoy him way too much and I was glad that we He's
- 21:07still not okay by the end of this a couple of episodes, but he
- 21:14is able to get on his feet and join us again, and that was
- 21:18the main thing for me. Yeah, No, like Eva is again.
- 21:26Eva for me is like a great character. Agree again again. We could
- 21:33say, like if you see something problematic there, I understand, you know,
- 21:38like if like with his whole power and how it works, but at
- 21:41the end of the day, like the character itself is just like a good
- 21:45guy and just great. Yeah, it's I really wasn't taking the whole storyline
- 21:56as being in good faith at all at first, because like bon Clay felt
- 22:03like the punchline in the Alabasta arc to me, you know, like he
- 22:10felt like a joke. And even though I and bon Clay are played for
- 22:15humor in this arc, it doesn't feel like the jokes are at their expense.
- 22:21It feels like they're part of the joke instead. It's got a different
- 22:25energy to it to me, absolutely, you know, I mean, and
- 22:30I just loved that you are like just so here for here for it for
- 22:36you. We're like yes, like these people in like s gender mixed and
- 22:41have like fish nets on and are like fucking up these guards and everything.
- 22:47And I was like, yeah, actually I love this too, like you
- 22:52put it in words for me. I was like, oh, yes,
- 22:53that's that's it. That's like, well good delighted. And I always had
- 23:02to think, like, you know, like this meme where it's like and
- 23:04this is the future liberals want, you know, or like that's what they
- 23:10want your kids to turn into. It like that, and they're like,
- 23:12well would it be the worst? Yeah, this is the they always are,
- 23:21just like it comes down to, don't threaten me with a good time.
- 23:26Yeah. No, you guys are acting like this is the end of
- 23:29the world. It sounds fun. I don't know what to tell you.
- 23:30Maybe that's supposed to be the terrible thing, but not for me. And
- 23:40I feel like we is it then that we get my challeance upgrade or is
- 23:47it for like it's it's it's like a little bit further on in this episode
- 23:52because at first, he's just doing the hydra thing again, and Lufy's you
- 23:59know, we are still going with his like wax armor. They keep calling
- 24:04it armor even though it's not covering his body, So I keep forgetting the
- 24:11word because it doesn't feel like armor to me. But I get that it's
- 24:15just meant to be protecting his hands and stuff. But yeah, Eventually,
- 24:19Jelan basically takes a bunch of hits off of Loofy and is like unhurt ultimately,
- 24:26but fucking irritated. So he gets like knocked most of the way across
- 24:33the room and at that point just basically cracks his knuckles and it's like,
- 24:38okay, you know what, enough with this horseshit, and he begins to
- 24:44he goes into venom dragon? Is that what it's called? Demon? Demon?
- 24:49Ven de yes? And this is I don't know, do you know
- 24:55the difference between venom and poison? Because before all he attacks were poison,
- 25:00but now it's venom. I guess I never, like I assumed that poison
- 25:07had to be ingested and that venom is something produced by a body, like
- 25:14venom is an excretion, but poison can be a chemical creation. I guess
- 25:19it's how I always thought of it. But what is what is supposed to
- 25:23be the difference here? I mean, I mean how it's just a definition.
- 25:29But the definition is basically that venom is always supposed to it's used in
- 25:37an attack. So a beasting is a venom. Uh what's it called?
- 25:41A snake bite can be venoms. But a plant that you eat that's just
- 25:48poisonous, you know, like it's not it is not necessarily you know,
- 25:53attacking you. It's not meant for that. It's just like that maybe we
- 25:57human cannot digest it, I see waiting to us. But the venom is
- 26:03actually made for attacking and yeah, paralyzed, right, whatever, So I
- 26:08always find it neat that, Like his final attack basically is kind of no,
- 26:12I will use the thing that is kind of actually meant to like it's
- 26:18made for destruction. Before well before it was kind of like the side effect,
- 26:22like he didn't use it like that. But I don't know, I
- 26:26just liked the distinction. I didn't think about it, and I'm kind of
- 26:32glad that you brought that up because I was sort of, you know,
- 26:34thinking to myself, like is this like it's clearly more badass and his other
- 26:38attacks because of the sheer size of the creature that he makes out of it.
- 26:44But I was sort of like, I don't really get what's supposed to
- 26:47be more threatening about this, so I like that as an explanation. And
- 26:52I will say too that when he makes the demon, first of all,
- 26:56it takes so long for the animey finish that that it was like animation.
- 27:06But once he's done, Lufy is staring up at him in like real horror.
- 27:12And I liked that because Lufy has been unwilling or unable to really see
- 27:22Migellan as like a genuine threat that he can't overcome. Even though he got
- 27:27his ass handed to him, he was still like, I could probably beat
- 27:33him, and I really like that. Finally, there came a point where
- 27:38it was like this is even too much for me, you know. It
- 27:41was I needed Loofy to be scared, because this whole time he has been
- 27:48angry, he's been overwhelmed, he has been frustrated. He has thought even
- 27:52if it feels like he can't win because there isn't another choice and he has
- 27:57to keep pressing forward. But he has never really felt scared throughout this arc
- 28:04to me, you know, he's just his his focus and determination have overrode
- 28:14his fear pretty much every time. Yeah, that was what I was gonna
- 28:18say. Probably they are overwriting basically, Yeah, he doesn't like taking himself
- 28:23the time to think about it because he's just like, I have shit to
- 28:26do. So this moment of like just being oh my god, he's huge,
- 28:33and then he literally turns and runs with all the other guys, which
- 28:37he hasn't done every other time these dudes have run and he has stayed put,
- 28:42and so I just I don't know, I just kind of liked that
- 28:45moment of like him being Okay, you know what now, I think I'm
- 28:52gonna go. I was like, finally we needed something that felt like a
- 28:56real threat to him, you know, absolutely. And I feel like this
- 29:00is like the I cannot make any promises. But not the first time,
- 29:07but the second time that Lufy wanted to run instead of fighting, I feel
- 29:12like the first Yeah, I feel like the first time was on Subodi,
- 29:17like because Lufy was there like we have to get away from you guys.
- 29:22Okay, I thought he meant like in the in this arc, but you
- 29:25just mean in the show. Yeah, in the show, Like this is
- 29:30like the second time where I feel like he is like we have to leave,
- 29:33you know, like normally, normally he's like no, I will like
- 29:37beat this best root into the ground. But well he comes up against folks
- 29:45that are like super badass and sometimes it's not worth the fight, you know.
- 29:49Yeah. Yeah, So at this point Magellan is just like chasing after
- 29:56them, and it's sort of interesting. I think that it's opposed to to
- 30:00be that he's like floating in the venom and it's carrying him. I really,
- 30:07I know I've already said this, but I really hate the fact that
- 30:11he can use the poison and venom to travel on that it can like like
- 30:18he made the hydras into slides and like just slid along them to reach Lufy.
- 30:25At one point, it's so mean spirited that he's like able to become
- 30:30these huge things that you can't even touch. And also he can it's not
- 30:37like it's saying that he can basically teleport is an exaggeration, but it's not
- 30:41that far off. It's very very easy for him to get to one place
- 30:45from another. And it's just he's so overpowered with this. Oh my god,
- 30:49I and really like he is so overpowered that the only way of dealing
- 30:56with him is to literally run away, Like there's no point in this a
- 31:03couple of episodes where they figure out how to defeat Migellan. It's just that
- 31:07we got away before he could grab us, you know, so I kind
- 31:14of like that as well. That absolutely there was no like solution. It
- 31:18was just to get the fuck out as soon as we can. Yeah,
- 31:22because even I gave mister Free his props before, and this is not something
- 31:27it's not his fault, but basically, when Michellan upgrades even mister Free's technique,
- 31:36can I mean, they have like a temporary protection, but yeah,
- 31:41yeah, it is, like really, I feel like Michellan is one of
- 31:45the stronger villains that we have had, Like definitely just not even being able
- 31:56to touch him, Like yeah, I mean that that's the funny thing.
- 32:00You could basically not touch Smoker, but Smoker would not hurt you. With
- 32:06Magellan is like you cannot touch him, but you at the same time get
- 32:10hurt, you know, Like it's even worse than just not being able to
- 32:15touch I always forget about Smoker. I'm really excited to see who they cast
- 32:22for him in No I mention, Yeah, yeah, we're I think they
- 32:27have actually announced the casting for him, but then he didn't show up in
- 32:31the life see in the actual series, so I don't know really, maybe
- 32:37they cut him out like at the end. I also heard that actually the
- 32:44character of Dragon was also cast. Oh yeah, but they also there was
- 32:52like no scene with him in the first season, so I don't know if
- 32:57they have I don't know. Probably they they cut it out because yeah,
- 33:05do you have Yeah, yeah, because they show a smoker at the end,
- 33:10but his back is to the camera, so I assumed that it was
- 33:14like, we're letting you know this character is coming, but we haven't chosen
- 33:17an actor yet, so we're just doing that hint like Marvel did with Thanos,
- 33:23although they do show his face and he just had a complete redesign by
- 33:28the time they dropped the movie. But anyway, okay, so there run,
- 33:37Yeah, they're right. I'm look, there's this like moment here and
- 33:42I didn't notice this. There's somebody in the in the crew of prisoners breaking
- 33:45out that's super tall, and he's holding the door open so that they can
- 33:51all get outside. I don't remember this guy, but uh, it's just
- 33:55all of these ordinarily like tall dudes like regular he and this dude who's like
- 34:01the average man is coming up to maybe his thigh. And then there's mister
- 34:07two pure a wedding, and he is almost as tall as this giant man
- 34:13just because he's pure a wedding and I just love that so much. But
- 34:17yeah, they're running outside and at this point they still don't know there isn't
- 34:24a ship out there. They're running out with the full expectation that they're going
- 34:30to be able to like fight and get their way onto a ship and they'll
- 34:32be able to get out of here. And meanwhile we have mister two who
- 34:39is encouraging them to get outside and is not following them and is watching down
- 34:47the hall because, like lufy, he's worried that maybe Magellan has gotten him
- 34:53after all. Meanwhile, Jimbai is in the water and he is I love
- 35:00this so much. He is like helping out Crocodile and mister zero mister one,
- 35:07because Crocodile is mister zero basically right. Yes, he kind of misjudges
- 35:15his aim at one point and like takes a chunk out of the ship,
- 35:19which he did find very funny because he's just like, sorry, I'm very
- 35:22strong in the water, my bad. I can I just say, I
- 35:31mean we can't talk about it later as well. But Jim Bay is just
- 35:36great, Like I just like him a lot. Again, one of the
- 35:42characters that I slept on first. I'm gonna be honest, Like it was
- 35:46not like that I disliked him, but in a rewrotch, I was just
- 35:51like, oh my god, he's like doing a lot and he's like like
- 35:55he's not here to play, like you know, yeah, And I don't
- 36:00know why. First time watching it, this didn't sunk sunk in for me,
- 36:06but you know, I by now, I'm just a total stand I
- 36:10can understand that though, because like he doesn't have a whole lot of personality.
- 36:16And I don't mean that in terms of like that he's a boring character
- 36:22exactly. It's just that he is very understated and he does what he does
- 36:27and he doesn't talk a big game about it, and he doesn't quip,
- 36:30and he's not out here joking around. He is zeroed in on what he
- 36:36needs to do and he does it. And when you're surrounded by all of
- 36:40these other larger than life personalities on these other characters, it's easy to sort
- 36:47of lose sight of him as being clutch. Yeah, you know I can
- 36:54understand that. I mean, like even for me when he first shows up
- 36:59and he's just chatting with Is in the cell, I definitely had a moment
- 37:02of just like, oh, who is this guy? No, it's fair,
- 37:12and I just with jim Bay he is. I mean, I think
- 37:19you figured this out. But they mentioned it to the live action and there
- 37:22was like an early thing in like very early on in the anime, like
- 37:30with Nammi stories, but Jimmy was mentioned there already, like apparently he had
- 37:37apparently he has some kind of connection to our law. And yeah, that
- 37:43makes sense. That's all I'm gonna say about that, because it's very racist.
- 37:46I'm going, oh, know each other, Yeah, there must know
- 37:51each other. But I mean, I'm just saying this because it has been
- 37:53said before, but there's a long time between this and Yeah, I'm just
- 38:01excited about to hear what you think of about his character in the future as
- 38:07well. Yeah, and here he not only does he like do his fishman
- 38:13karate, which is hell powerful, but later on he winds up summoning a
- 38:17bunch of bull sharks, adorable smiley bull sharks. It was so cute,
- 38:24you guys. So yeah, he's extremely valuable, absolutely, and you guys,
- 38:32I forgot that. I'm so sorry. But mister one is on the
- 38:38deck and he turned his arm turns into a knife, and one of the
- 38:45guys just says, did his arm just turn into a knife? What's up
- 38:50with this guy? The question we are all asking, absolutely and not to
- 39:00bring us too far off track, But I'm always like, okay, you
- 39:05know, like they have like probably all bounties on their head, you know,
- 39:10but I don't know, like, if you're in a world like this
- 39:14where powers like these exist, do you remember or know the power of everybody?
- 39:21I mean, it's kind of like a secret if they're not caught.
- 39:22But I feel like as soon as they get caught then probably you know.
- 39:29But then again, they're probably like the prison was full of people, So
- 39:32how can you remember every power that every person has there? You know?
- 39:37Like, yeah, I think, well, one guy eventually is like,
- 39:40oh I remember this guy. He was his dost Bones from the West Blue.
- 39:45So there is a guy in the crowd who knows who he is.
- 39:50But I could imagine it just being like, I mean, how many singers
- 39:54are there out there that I don't know them and they're super famous. No,
- 40:00like there'd be other folks out there who if they heard the name,
- 40:02would be like, oh that guy did such and such. I do not
- 40:06know, so maybe it's just a matter of interest, Like these cards are
- 40:10like I just want to go home and check out for the day. I
- 40:15don't need to be, you know, going through my my Big Bads of
- 40:22the Grand Line booklet memorizing everything. I'm willing to accept that. Yeah,
- 40:29probably, And yeah, the one thing I feel like this is where coming
- 40:40back to the prison, like Lufy shows up the Magella on the tail and
- 40:47they kind of make like a last stand. Yeah, but before that,
- 40:53Eva shows up mm hmm, just bursting through the not well, through the
- 41:00ceiling and through the floor, depending on which standpoint you want to take,
- 41:07but first the floor and Eva it's just like out of it, like he's
- 41:14like, hey, guys, so good to see you. Time for a
- 41:20nap, and everybody's like, no, it's not a mud wake up.
- 41:24He is not waking up ladies and gentlemen. He is out. And I
- 41:30think at this point is when Jimbay gets in touch with Loofy and is telling
- 41:35him when you get outside, you have got to go straight into the water,
- 41:40and Loofy is like, are you high that we are in the calm
- 41:47Belt which is full of sea kings? Absolutely fucking not. It's really funny
- 41:52because, like they're always for the way the show works, there's all got
- 42:00to be some like regular random dude who is in the background yelling about something
- 42:07and he has to be upset that something isn't going according to plan or it
- 42:13doesn't seem like it's gonna work. So no matter what's happening, you hear
- 42:19somebody be like, that's crazy, we're all gonna die. And then they
- 42:23change the plan and they do something, and then as soon as they've completed
- 42:28that, there's another obstacle. We can't do this. Oh my god,
- 42:31we're all gonna die, and it's just over and over and it's not a
- 42:36flaw. Like I am not mad at that, but it is really funny
- 42:39that I imagine there being just one dude who's always whining and everybody is like,
- 42:45fucking shut up, Steve. We have got every five minutes you're like,
- 42:50we're gonna die, and then we're here. We're not is fine.
- 42:52You have got to stop panicking every second, so anytime you hear that,
- 42:58guys, just know that that's Steve and everybody hates them. That's my now.
- 43:05Yeah, now that's absolutely fair, and I love it. I know.
- 43:10It's just like, I mean, I get it from like a storytelling
- 43:14perspective, you know, like you're like, Okay, your main cast cannot
- 43:17be afraid all the time except loose up. But but shade on the side.
- 43:27But no, like like you need people to to say this is crazy,
- 43:31and honestly it is. You know, like even though we as audience
- 43:37know this is a show, if you're there and somebody is like, this
- 43:39is crazy, I get it. But at the same time, yes,
- 43:44shut up, Steve, Yes, yeah, like you have to you have
- 43:47to demonstrate that what these people are being asked to do seems crazy to them
- 43:54and that they aren't going to simply obey without question. And I get needing
- 43:59to like get that across. But also everything they are expected to do always
- 44:05is crazy. So I am so prepared to just be like, Okay,
- 44:09sure, fine do that that whenever they start to dig their heels and I'm
- 44:14just like, ugh, okay, can we all just get to the part
- 44:16where you agree to do it anyway? Okay, good, there we are,
- 44:22and then we get like the anal attack from Loofy and mister Free against
- 44:31Mitchell. And I don't know if you notice this, but the animation in
- 44:37this part goes kind of wild, like it is like it is just like
- 44:42forty seconds or like one minute, but it is actually more intensely animated than
- 44:50we didn't really notice that. Can you are you looking at the the show
- 44:54right now like on your like do you have it up? Wait? I
- 45:00have it open? So okay, because I just wanted to ask you for
- 45:04a right yes, wait fifty or I'm still in five fifty? Okay,
- 45:15yeah it is yes, no, no, I have not clicked it at
- 45:21all, so okay, I have it opened, but I have not like
- 45:23clicked anything. So probably it was just the episode from before, but I
- 45:30have not opened it and the spot right now, Okay, that's fine.
- 45:34I was just going to ask so that I could go over there because I
- 45:36couldn't. I don't remember that being Let me see, he says, one
- 45:38candlewall coming right up, and then we have the wax billowing out. That
- 45:45wax does look crazy. Actually, I didn't really notice that They're doing a
- 45:50lot of movement when the animators definitely do their best to try and like avoid
- 45:58a lot of like the screen will just sort of have a still figure moving
- 46:01across a still background if they can get away with it a lot. So,
- 46:07yeah, this is much much more intensely. I see what you're saying.
- 46:12Yeah, just like Giant. Yeah, for me, it's like nineteen
- 46:15thirty. It starts around there and then like probably a minute like to twenty
- 46:21thirty something around there. Yeah. Yeah, I'm sorry for me. Yeah,
- 46:30but yeah, I just I just love it. I just love that
- 46:34animation. And again it's just like mister Free gets this and I'm just like,
- 46:39okay, like it's cool, You're cool somehow, Like I don't want
- 46:46to run. Yeah, no, I really am, because I think I
- 46:50don't know, I don't really like him. I don't know. That's fine,
- 46:57that's fine. Like yeah, sometimes people just hat like that and it's
- 47:02like I guess, yeah, you have a cool moment, you said something
- 47:07good. Okay, But anyway, he Matchellanda mean gets pushed back, and
- 47:19I was how do I say that? I did not think this would take
- 47:24him out, but actually it does not. It buys them time, which
- 47:29which is good and necessary, you know, but still he is still up
- 47:34and running, you know, like he's coming after them, and everybody jumps
- 47:39on Eva and they sail away, sail away, fly away, fly away.
- 47:49I thought you were doing that any song. Yeah I did, okay,
- 47:54oh my, And like even the again, I forget sometimes, like
- 48:00because this is really the only cartoon that I'm consistently watching, and a lot
- 48:04of the other animated stuff I watch doesn't stick to the regular conventions of cartoons
- 48:12the way that this show does sometimes. So like Eva's head blast through the
- 48:19wall and door, and so he's got these huge lumps on his head that
- 48:24are meant to represent the injury of bashing his head, and you, guys,
- 48:30I cannot tell you how often this show does that, which is a
- 48:34I mean I remember it being done in like Looney Tunes, you know,
- 48:37I know it's a thing, but I forget it's a thing, and I
- 48:42am always like, what the fuck is that? Every time I see it,
- 48:45I'm horrified because it's not only the lump, It's always got little speckles
- 48:50on it to indicate that there's like hairs. I hate it. I hate
- 48:54it so much ough and we see it so for so long because his head
- 49:00is flying through the air for a minute and everybody is just up in his
- 49:05hair. So there's a long period there where I just kept being like,
- 49:07what is that? And then I finally realized what it was that they were
- 49:12doing. And I really love this moment because Eva's like uses his big wink
- 49:22to shoot himself out and he is able to shoot out at like the velocity
- 49:29of a jet taking off, which you would think would be plenty. But
- 49:34Magellan's got that huge demon like shape going on. So he reaches out with
- 49:40one venom hand and it's close, like he really very nearly grips him up,
- 49:49and I was it was It was just a lot closer than I was
- 49:53expecting. I didn't think that Magellan had the reach that he clearly does.
- 50:00And I love the fact that like once they're out, Magellan is just standing
- 50:05there like horrified. Yeah. No, I love this holy sequence, Like
- 50:14basically from the moment they turned the corner and like running away from him and
- 50:19what we have to get in the water. Okay, giant wax wall attack
- 50:22go on, Eva fly out, the head comes after them. Yeah,
- 50:29great, Like from beginning to end, great a lot, And yeah,
- 50:37they land on this giant what did you call them? Do you the bullsharks?
- 50:43Bull sharks? Okay, I don't, I don't, that's what they
- 50:45say, Okay, And yeah, they just basically get chucked over to the
- 50:52ship. They're like, it's like a what's it called a bucket chain.
- 51:00It feels like like where you put the fire out, you give one backage
- 51:04to the next person. I see what you mean. Yeah, yeah,
- 51:07yeah, exactly until they land on the ship like crash almost into the ship,
- 51:15really crash, like yeah, it's a quite a flight. Mm hmm.
- 51:22All right, well now we're moving into AH four fifty one, so
- 51:30come final miracle and this is Bonclay's sacrifice. Then we get coming up here?
- 51:37Can we? Okay, I honestly want to talk about this, but
- 51:43my first question is just like did you when did you know this? Or
- 51:49did you know that the episode before you were like he's not really around,
- 51:52or like when I'm gonna be honest with you here. So this show can
- 52:00have sort of strange transitions. And not only did I not notice that Bonclay
- 52:09was around, but I also when it's very clear, like if you're really
- 52:17paying attention, that there are two Magellans, I was still not getting it.
- 52:23It wasn't until they were in the same room, because there's a point
- 52:29where Magellan's looking out there and then sees the gates opening, and it's like,
- 52:34what the fuck is going on? And then it cuts to Magellan in
- 52:37the control room, and I thought we just had like an abrupt transition and
- 52:44that he had gone back to the control room. And even though he was
- 52:49saying like, open the gate, I was sort of confused, like,
- 52:52wait, did I Maybe I misunderstood. I thought he didn't want this,
- 52:55but now he's ordering them to do it, and I was completely not picking
- 53:00it up. And then he comes in and I was like, oh my
- 53:06god, Okay, so yeah, I was not clocking what was going on
- 53:10at all. Your girl's sprain was turned off. Hey know, this is
- 53:15honestly my experience as well, was it? Yes? Okay, yes,
- 53:21no, Like honestly, the moment, the moment I see them both in
- 53:25the same frame or like in the same that was the moment where I was
- 53:29like, oh there are two wait wait that means oh oh no, no,
- 53:37Like I was like, like my brain was like after that, my
- 53:42brain was like then it make like all these connections, But before that,
- 53:45it was nothing for me, it was this supplies worked. I kind of
- 53:52wish that there was a map again, because they don't do it at the
- 53:59top of the episode, but I do kind of wish that there were something
- 54:05that sort of reinforced the idea that bon Clay absolutely couldn't get out in time
- 54:12to catch up with them, because for a minute, I just thought he's
- 54:15like buying them some time, but he's going to be able to like sprint
- 54:20out there. And it wasn't until things really started to like, you know,
- 54:24be spoken when they are talking to each other, that I realized,
- 54:28oh my god, wait, he is straight up staying here. And I
- 54:37fully believe Bonclay will survive, but if we're being real, Magella wouldn't have
- 54:45killed his ass immediately. That would be a wrap on Bonclay. And even
- 54:52though because of the way the story has to work, I have full confidence
- 54:55that he actually is okay, I still felt like sick. I felt so
- 55:07upset that he was just there's a point where the camera sort of pulls out
- 55:13and he's just kneeling on the floor in profile in front of Magellan, like
- 55:16as himself again, and I just got very pissy about it. I was
- 55:25just like this even though he may survive, I'm sure he's going to be
- 55:30put through it, absolutely, you know, And I just see that for
- 55:36him, Like this is not a fun place. And I mean we we
- 55:43have seen the horrors of this place, even though we have kind of as
- 55:47always me to see through Lufy's lens and he's he's just like a really omitic
- 55:54character. But still this is a horrible place and through and even if it
- 56:01does not get killed, he for sure will stay here and that's also no
- 56:07good. Like, yeah, I don't want him anywhere near this. I
- 56:14hate it. It just deserves better. Absolutely, No, Like as I
- 56:20said again, like he is the MVP of this hour, Like I I
- 56:28don't. It's super weird. I don't use that term at all, Like
- 56:34I'm just because first of all, this is an English thing, so that's
- 56:40one thing. And the other thing it is like a sports thing, so
- 56:44that's the second thing. I don't same. However, I don't know how
- 56:51otherwise to describe it, you know, It's just like, yeah, no,
- 56:52this was I mean, later on we see like a flashback, and
- 56:58from one piece standards, it's not pretty quick, but we see like a
- 57:01lot of moments with bon Clay and how he was crucial to Lufy's success in
- 57:07all of this, and it truly was like, Wow, he did,
- 57:12he did, he pulled a lot of the weight. Yeah, And I
- 57:17really appreciate that Lufey knows that because there, you know, there are times
- 57:23where it can feel like it's sometimes a main character doesn't seem to give a
- 57:30person credit entirely. And I really felt Lufy when he says, like,
- 57:37how many times do you have to save me? I was just like,
- 57:42oh my god, it just he I won't go so far as to say
- 57:47that Lufy is like humiliated by having to accept the help, because he's not
- 57:52like that. He doesn't have that particular kind of ego. Really, it's
- 57:57it's more a sense of like you should be having to do this over and
- 58:02over again, like it's an injustice that you keep being put in this position,
- 58:07which it is absolutely Mike, but Bond Clay is just like that,
- 58:15like he accepts it and he does it, and honestly, what away character
- 58:24in fiction in general, Like I honestly my love for this character is so
- 58:29beyond like he is in the series one of my favorites, including all the
- 58:37straw Heads. You know, even if I if I have to make like
- 58:38a top ten bond, Lay is somewhere in day for me, he just
- 58:45yeah, including all the straw Heads, like some some straw heads will get
- 58:49ranked lower than him for me, And if you want to add me,
- 58:52then do I look? I fully agree, I really do. And it's
- 58:58not like some of the straw Hats. It's not even like I don't think
- 59:01you're important or anything. It's just like, I'm just so invested in Bonclay
- 59:07and what's going on with him. Every time he's on screen, I'm always
- 59:10just like, you know, which is part of what's so surprising that I
- 59:15didn't notice that he wasn't with him because I have been paying very close attention
- 59:19to him specifically, So the fact that I kind of like overlooked the fact
- 59:23that he was gone, I was surprised at myself. I was like,
- 59:28wow, you really fucked up girl. Yes, oh yeah no. And
- 59:34again, this does not mean that we dislike any at least for me,
- 59:37that I dislike any of the straw Heads. But honestly, this show has
- 59:40just so many great characters. So I really wonder how much Oda knew that
- 59:50Bonclay was going to be so I don't know if I want to say he's
- 59:55beloved, because I don't know. I'm not in the fandom, is he
- 1:00:01yes? Okay, it's like I don't to be honest, he's the kind
- 1:00:07of character where I don't know anybody talking bad about him. Okay, it
- 1:00:15just looked great because yeah, I'm really curious about whether that's part of the
- 1:00:21reason for the change in tone, with the way that he became less the
- 1:00:24butt of the joke and just became part of the joke. Is that like
- 1:00:29Oda realized, Oh, everybody actually likes this guy, and so maybe I
- 1:00:34don't want to make him like somebody who keeps getting screwed over or made fun
- 1:00:40of because people are kind of defensive of him, and he didn't see that
- 1:00:45coming, you know, I don't know. Well, I feel like this
- 1:00:50has been mentioned before in the chat, but it's has been so long ago.
- 1:00:54In Japanese, the voice actor for Bonkley is the same voice actor as
- 1:01:00for Frankie, and the reason why that is is that Oda was like,
- 1:01:07this voice actor is amazing, like bone Clay's voice actor is amazing. I
- 1:01:14need to create another character that will be part of the straw Heads, so
- 1:01:17he can be part of the crew basically, so okay, So Frankie was
- 1:01:24sort of inspired, not inspired, but it was like a circumstantial wave,
- 1:01:30like, you know, I oda needed a character that can be voiced by
- 1:01:34this amazing voice actor, so that, right, Frankie came around. Like
- 1:01:39imagine doing such a good job that an author is like I am literally writing
- 1:01:45a character specifically for you. That is so much pressure. Oh my god,
- 1:01:53I'm just over here like, oh god, I could never like amazing
- 1:01:58and obviously killing it, like Frankie's a fantastic character, but yeah, that's
- 1:02:05a lot of that's a lot of pressure, absolutely, But I don't know,
- 1:02:13like it's always I don't know if odor of things about these things.
- 1:02:20You know, when I'm writing, I try not to think about these things
- 1:02:24too much. You know. I'm just kind of like if a character needs
- 1:02:28to come back, then I'm just like, oh no, it's more like,
- 1:02:31okay, who I need some character here that fulfills this role. Do
- 1:02:37I have introduced somebody? And then if somebody is there who kind of fits
- 1:02:42the description, I will reuse them, and if not, then somebody you
- 1:02:46will be invented. Right, But I don't know if that's how Ota goes
- 1:02:51about it. I'm really curious, Like I just want to pick his brain
- 1:02:54now, absolutely there. I want to pick his brain for lots of reason.
- 1:03:00Yeah. Coming back to the early beginnings of you covering the show,
- 1:03:07like in every second episode you accused him of using drugs. I stand by
- 1:03:15that, yes, same, same, it's giving Lewis Carroll high whatever it
- 1:03:25is they used to make hats. Mm hmmm. What was it that Lewis
- 1:03:30Carroll smoked opium and he created the Mad Hatter because Hatter's used lead or mercury
- 1:03:37to make hats. Do you remember this? I don't. I mean I
- 1:03:42know that, like I know the gist of it, but I don't know
- 1:03:45it in Petle I'm gonna full it that up because that's gonna bother me,
- 1:03:50but I won't do it now, I promise. Yeah. So not a
- 1:03:57small question. Did you have some for Bonkley or no tears? I my
- 1:04:04eyes watered, I didn't cry, but I definitely like was in my feelings.
- 1:04:09I would have cried if it weren't for knowing that characters don't really die
- 1:04:15in the show. But because I knew that, it sort of kept me
- 1:04:19from completely imploding. But it was really really effective. The whole the whole
- 1:04:27scene, and the fact that even up until like the very last moments,
- 1:04:33he's just telling Loofy to save Ace and don't look back, and basically what
- 1:04:39he's saying is don't worry about me, like put me out of your mind.
- 1:04:44You need to get on with what you're doing. And I really loved
- 1:04:50that, just because it's like a he could have been written as being like
- 1:05:00what a noble sacrifice in this moment and him like long suffering and saying remember
- 1:05:05me, you know, like in this way that I wouldn't have blamed him
- 1:05:09for at all, because as far as he knows, he is gonna die.
- 1:05:13But the fact that he is, right up until the end, all
- 1:05:17he's thinking about is Loufy's goal. The like total selflessness of that really really
- 1:05:27got to me. He's just such a fucking cheerleader for Loovi, Like he
- 1:05:32genuinely just wants Loofy to succeed because he cares about him that much. And
- 1:05:43I mean it's not that Loufy isn't great, but to a degree, I
- 1:05:48feel like he didn't really earn that. It's just that Bonclay has had nobody
- 1:05:55be nice to him. Wow, really like it. It feels like Bonclay
- 1:06:00has been is somebody that has like wanted a friend, and finally a person
- 1:06:06was just like I really like this outfit or I really you know, like
- 1:06:11and it was he was primed and ready and just everybody around him sucked.
- 1:06:18Do you know what I think? Yeah? No, I I get what
- 1:06:23you mean. First of all, Okay, glad that you did cry,
- 1:06:26because if you cried, I won't be like, damn it, I should
- 1:06:29have made it a for your episode. So oh because because because that that
- 1:06:35was a thought of mine, like should I make a voyear episode out of
- 1:06:39this? But I didn't. But and the other thing, I get what
- 1:06:45you mean, but also how did I say that? I do feel like
- 1:06:50Louviy kind of earned it in the sense that it's not necessarily that anything ever
- 1:06:59did for bon Cley, but just like the attitude that Lufy has, you
- 1:07:05know that that kind of even back in Alabasta, it was like the thing
- 1:07:11that brought bon Clay around was like that they were like, no, we
- 1:07:15have to say goodbye to a friend, you know, and yeah, and
- 1:07:20he was like so touched by that. It was not nothing that had to
- 1:07:24do with him, but he was like just like these people value the things
- 1:07:30that I value just as much as I do, and therefore it is worthy
- 1:07:38to basically jump into the fire for them in the kind of way. Yeah,
- 1:07:44I like that, that's at least the interpretation I have. I am.
- 1:07:50I feel like that's kind of the like Lufy's whole deal is just that
- 1:07:56he goes around with such general good will unless he's proven too, like that
- 1:08:02the person doesn't deserve it. That anybody who is receptive to that is just
- 1:08:11like an ally waiting to happen, because he's just very equal opportunity. Like
- 1:08:15you know, hey, we're all people. We're all in this together,
- 1:08:19you know what I mean. And I just really do enjoy Like, you
- 1:08:29know, I felt like such a way about Bonclay's whole deal, and I
- 1:08:34didn't expect I kept saying in the first run through how much I liked him
- 1:08:41and how I wish that he wasn't a villain because he was so much fun.
- 1:08:45And I am so glad that that's where we wound up that, Like
- 1:08:50I mean, I just really didn't see it coming that we were going to
- 1:08:54actually do this, you know, And I and I am really hoping that
- 1:09:04this isn't the last time that we ever see him. I am gonna guess
- 1:09:10because there's another another five hundred episodes? How many is there? There's a
- 1:09:15lot? Yeah, that's that's about right. I think that the chapter,
- 1:09:23the newest chapter that came out was one thousand and one hundred. Wow.
- 1:09:29Yeah, so they're like somewhat about more than a thousand episode at the moment,
- 1:09:35I don't know. Yes, it is Jesus Christ Home. It is
- 1:09:44smelted. Yeah, I'm just gonna The place that we are right now in
- 1:09:50the story is just so revealing and I cannot wait for you to get there,
- 1:10:00even though it will be a long time. It's just like like for
- 1:10:03me, for me at the moment, every every new chapter is like,
- 1:10:08okay, throw out all the old fewies. Yeah, fuck all of my
- 1:10:14work for the past few years. No, not like it's like but it's
- 1:10:20great. It's great. Really, It's amazing to me just how quickly it
- 1:10:28happens too, Like, you know, how long was it since my first
- 1:10:30episode? How many years has it been for you? About two years?
- 1:10:36Like, okay, February is the anniversary for two years. Wow, And
- 1:10:45I'm already at episode four hundred, Like I know that I do multiple episodes
- 1:10:48and you guys skip the filler episodes and everything, but still like it comes
- 1:10:55honest quite quickly. I'm already at four fifty, so I feel like it's
- 1:11:00really it'll be here before you know it. Yeah, I'm just maybe just
- 1:11:04also three years. Oh my god, I don't even I was about to
- 1:11:08say, it feels like it should be longer than that. Yeah, I
- 1:11:11believe. I feel like it is free not true. If I'm gonna I'm
- 1:11:16gonna go in there and look at when the first episode got posted to spreaker,
- 1:11:21because I think I can do that pretty easily because I'm just now curious.
- 1:11:25Yeah, because we cannot look at it in crowd test anymore because it's
- 1:11:30there, you consistent and what I'm sorry, I thought when I searched one
- 1:11:44piece that it would show me them in chronological order according to how when they
- 1:11:47were uploaded, and they're not. It's first eighty through eighty two, but
- 1:11:54then it's like fifty to fifty three one hundred. Why would you? Why
- 1:11:57would you show it to me like that? That is so frustrating because now
- 1:12:03it's making it that I can't just like scroll all the way to the bottom
- 1:12:06and see because they're not chronological. But I I'm pretty sure it had to
- 1:12:12be twenty twenty one because I mean I really listened, as I said,
- 1:12:17to the first episode, and I remembered, like the first one that I
- 1:12:21guessed it on. I said, like, yeah, last year has been
- 1:12:25such a shit show, so probably I was talking about twenty twenty. I
- 1:12:30mean, look, we would all love to think that whatever year we were
- 1:12:34talking about in a particular year, but let's be honest, every year for
- 1:12:41many years has been a bit of a shit show. Or maybe that's just
- 1:12:45me. I don't know. Nah, despair just just for different reasons.
- 1:12:49But yeah, that is I'm going to go into Patreon now because now or
- 1:12:57wait, no, I can't do it. I can't like shirt They're the
- 1:13:00same way either. This is so annoying. I just want to know a
- 1:13:05pretty simple thing. Well, but is it simple? Because I think,
- 1:13:12well, I mean, you're a creator, but then again, you do
- 1:13:15so much. I feel like it's like difficult to pinpoint one like exact moment
- 1:13:20in your career, Like that's that's not something that is easy to do,
- 1:13:26to be honest, that is something that I have run up against a lot
- 1:13:29because I do so many shows and they're all like very different, and a
- 1:13:33lot of podcasters, you know, they can say like, oh, I
- 1:13:38do this kind of show about this, or this is my theme song or
- 1:13:41whatever, and I don't even like I don't have a theme song because I
- 1:13:44just use the song from the show that I'm covering, if it's like a
- 1:13:48co hosted one, or I just use like the song for spoil mes,
- 1:13:53but that's not like my theme and uh oh okay, okay, I found
- 1:13:58a way to search it. Hold on, I'm about to tell you one
- 1:14:00piece episode one. Oh my god, how is it going to just say
- 1:14:10March first? It only says March first, and it doesn't say the year.
- 1:14:15Okay, you know what I'm gonna I have to go into it and
- 1:14:19wait, this is a whole thing now wait no, no, no,
- 1:14:23wait wait March one. Yeah. I was just about to say, I
- 1:14:27can just yes, I could have looked it up as well. I have
- 1:14:31opened the spreadsheet with all the days just in an out of town. God,
- 1:14:36Florian, I'm so I forgot about that though. I didn't even think
- 1:14:46of that, though I have the spoil me spreadsheet too on my end,
- 1:14:49Like I didn't even think so dense and I have like the whole freaking spreadsheet,
- 1:14:57like right in the other tap. I just had to switch over there
- 1:15:00and scroll. But I'm sorry, Oh my god, you guys listen between
- 1:15:08me, like watch not watching all three episodes I was supposed to and Florian
- 1:15:15with his like sound and camera problems and everything. I think we managed a
- 1:15:18pretty solid episode despite our many ah what's the word? I want? The
- 1:15:25many obstacles in our path? Absolutely, and we still have time left because
- 1:15:30I didn't watch that the third episode. Is there anything that you wanted to
- 1:15:35discuss that was like maybe not to do with these episodes? Let me think,
- 1:15:41well, just tell me what you predictions, Like kind of what do
- 1:15:46you expect? I mean, the whole we we did not really talk about
- 1:15:51Ace at all, and this is kind of that's true, Like what what
- 1:15:56do you think is going to happen there? Yeah, the whole I think
- 1:16:00with Ace is sort of So here's the thing. I know, I get
- 1:16:05that Ace is Lufy's brother, and I care because of that, but I
- 1:16:09just don't really care about Ace, particularly like I don't have any investment in
- 1:16:15him because we haven't seen enough of him, and I am only really interested
- 1:16:24and invested because of Loofy and not wanting him to get hurt, and so
- 1:16:31I'm trying to just focus on that and not keep kind of going. But
- 1:16:36I don't care about this guy because I know that probably it will destroy Loofy.
- 1:16:42I am still I'm gonna admit this too. I am a little bit
- 1:16:46hung up on the fact that Lufy saw that his Weaver card was fucked up
- 1:16:55and didn't do anything right away, Like, yeah, that kind of bugs
- 1:17:01me at this point. I know that he had, like I'm not even
- 1:17:08gonna say he had a good reason. He had an excuse at the time
- 1:17:12that I was willing to buy, but I didn't really love it, and
- 1:17:16I think I'm on record saying that I found it kind of weird. And
- 1:17:23so now like the pursuit of him and trying to like save him, I
- 1:17:29don't think that this is actually how I'm supposed to be feeling, but there's
- 1:17:32a sense of like I need to fix the fact that I fucked up a
- 1:17:38little bit. Yeah, that's that's totally fair, Like I I mean,
- 1:17:45with the reason you mean that Lufy basically said he's on his old adventure and
- 1:17:53he probably doesn't want to get saved, Like that's I feel like that's the
- 1:17:57kind of chist that he said the first time he saw this Weaver card.
- 1:18:02There was basically like he can take care of himself and he wouldn't want me
- 1:18:08coming to his rescue, oh, you know, just because he might be
- 1:18:13in danger. Absolutely no, I totally get that. I again I agree
- 1:18:24for me, it's also like kind of more of an excuse than like actual
- 1:18:29reason it is. I mean, you could say that Lufy is just like
- 1:18:36not that he maybe did not comprehend actually what that meant, because you could
- 1:18:42be he's not necessarily the smartest guy, you know, so you know,
- 1:18:48you've got your limitations. So maybe the context of him actually seeing and reading
- 1:18:54it in the paper like in Amazon Lily, where he like there he like,
- 1:18:59actually it was in the paper like as is going to be executed,
- 1:19:02So that was like way more concrete, and maybe that's why he changed his
- 1:19:08tune. But I totally get what you mean that, Yeah, it is
- 1:19:15not I don't know. I actually gonna put this maybe more on the writing,
- 1:19:19maybe, I think so. I think that he needed us to be
- 1:19:24like, oh, something's going on, but he didn't want to pursue it
- 1:19:28quite yet, because he wasn't ready for that part in the story. And
- 1:19:32I am I really do think I am putting my like I'm putting baggage on
- 1:19:39Lufy that I don't think he really has. It's not actually in the text
- 1:19:45at all. It's just that's if we were going to make this a more
- 1:19:50like nuanced, layered character, I would be taking it this way. And
- 1:19:57it is hard for me sometimes to know, Oh, with this series,
- 1:20:02how nuanced and layered are we going to get? Because there I will let
- 1:20:05my guard down and be like, oh, everybody is quite one dimensional and
- 1:20:10it's fine, and then all of a sudden he'll just bust out with some
- 1:20:13like extremely emotional stuff and I'll be like, oh, I guess we are
- 1:20:17doing that a little bit. So there are times where I'm like, you're
- 1:20:23really reading into things too much, and then I'll find out I was not.
- 1:20:27It was actually what I was thinking, you know. So I'm for
- 1:20:32the record saying that I don't actually think that this is like Lufy being driven
- 1:20:38by guilt, But if it turns out it is Lufy driven by guilt,
- 1:20:43I am going to feel like that makes sense, And you know, I
- 1:20:50just I tend right now to think that's not actually what we're doing. It's
- 1:20:58fair. And what do you say about Ace? I also kind of know
- 1:21:04what you mean and agreed, like he's it is more like polophysic like that
- 1:21:12we were like invested in this. It's not like that I dislike as or,
- 1:21:17but we did not spend a lot of time with him, and therefore
- 1:21:23it was like not a we did not have a lot of chances to really
- 1:21:27fall in love with him as a character. Yeah, I feel like you
- 1:21:31know, he had a cool like moment, but it was back in Alabama.
- 1:21:35That's the last time like our people have spent any time with him,
- 1:21:39right, mm hmm exactly. It's been a long time. Yeah, And
- 1:21:45however, I'm going to tell you that there have been like popularity votes,
- 1:21:50you know, Andike who is like the most popular, And that's draw it
- 1:21:57that like cast member of my character. That's what I'm looking for. And
- 1:22:03Ace like has and I'm speaking like before like we're speaking times when this was
- 1:22:11happening or like the last arc, you know, like and Ace has always
- 1:22:16since he was introduced, always placed at the top, like not that the
- 1:22:20very top, but in the top places. And I honestly again It's not
- 1:22:27that that disliking, but I'm just like, he's really that high, Like
- 1:22:30why, like some people like really love him and he's super hot and like
- 1:22:36literally with his powers and his attitude. Oh my god, I carefully,
- 1:22:43I didn't see that coming get off my show, you know. And I'm
- 1:22:49going to be honest. I was also like he was like a little cartoon
- 1:22:55crush for me, but I feel that, Yeah, besides that, I
- 1:23:00was also kind of like, he's really that high in this ranking is like
- 1:23:03the rankings every year kind of surprising to me, But I was not fucked
- 1:23:10by it. Look, I am going to go on the record right now
- 1:23:16being extremely derisive about those fan favorite character things, because here's the thing.
- 1:23:27I just really always bring this up. And I know that at this point
- 1:23:30in the history of everything that Star Wars has turned into this massive, like
- 1:23:39multi media thing. It's different. But there was a time when I had
- 1:23:46not yet seen the Star Wars films and Owen made me sit down and watch
- 1:23:50them with him, and I did that on the podcast. That's like,
- 1:23:55I think, I think those are episodes that are up for purchase, I
- 1:23:59think, but I to check. I went because all I had heard for
- 1:24:06so long from so many random fans was how cool Boba Fet was. Everybody
- 1:24:15loved Boba Fet. And then I go into the the movie and Boba Fet
- 1:24:23is nothing. He's literally just standing off to the side and he gets given
- 1:24:29like an order. And then you see him in the next film like for
- 1:24:34a few minutes, and I think he's got like a line, a single
- 1:24:38line, and you never see his face. He doesn't do anything particularly cool,
- 1:24:44and then he gets eaten by the Sarlac and I was like, what
- 1:24:47the fuck? Everybody you guys talk about this dude. His helmet is one
- 1:24:51of like their their merch for his helmet is out of control. You can
- 1:24:58get like snack bulls mugs of his helmet. And this was before like they
- 1:25:04did the whole reboot and everything, And I ever since have lost all respect
- 1:25:15for fandom's judgment when it comes to side characters and why they think certain people
- 1:25:21are really great. And I have had that feeling about just like I'm going
- 1:25:27to completely discount your opinion. I have had that reaffirmed so many times in
- 1:25:33the course of my career, whether it be like somebody on Doctor Who that
- 1:25:38everybody sounded excited about me getting to and I did not see what the big
- 1:25:43deal was about, or there are there are a lot of shows that have
- 1:25:46like giant casts that have people that kind of come in and out, and
- 1:25:53there would just be a sort of like tangible excitement about something and I would
- 1:25:58be kind of like getting hype of it, and then I'd get there and
- 1:26:00go, really, this is it. So I'm just saying that it's not
- 1:26:09that I think that fandoms are stupid, although in some ways I do think
- 1:26:13that it's more that we get like a taste of a character and then we
- 1:26:18just run away with these fucking like fanfics in our head, or they're hot
- 1:26:25and we decide a bunch of things, or they're awkward in a certain way
- 1:26:28that we think is funny, and like associate with a friend of ours who's
- 1:26:30also really weird, and it turns into this like tumblification where people just write
- 1:26:36these little paragraphs about this character that didn't happen, but it creates over the
- 1:26:42years this affection that is not based in the fucking actual like text or film
- 1:26:49or anything. It's about the way things have grown around them because of fans,
- 1:26:57and so then they get real attached to this character and you come into
- 1:27:01it and they think you're gonna like, they don't remember this person. None
- 1:27:08of that's real. You guys like absorbed all of these little scenarios or tiktoks
- 1:27:15or whatever over the course of time, and this nothing character has developed into
- 1:27:20somebody and so they forget and then you come into it as a completely unspoiled
- 1:27:27person and it falls flat and they're like, well, okay, well what
- 1:27:31you have to remember is and then they try and explain it to you why
- 1:27:34it's like this person's really popular, and always the like explanations of it are
- 1:27:43about things that aren't actually canon, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 1:27:49So all this to say, I am not surprised that Abe was voted really
- 1:27:55high because he's Luvie's brother, so he's like assumed to be like a pretty
- 1:28:00decent guy because of the fact that he's Leavey's brother. He's got a cool
- 1:28:02power that's extremely powerful. He's hot. He is a lone wolf, which
- 1:28:10anytime that you have a character who just sort of wanders on their own,
- 1:28:15not that he isn't associated with a crew, but like we don't see him
- 1:28:17with a crew usually he is usually on his own. That gives them a
- 1:28:23lot more of a mysterious quality, so we can like decide all sorts of
- 1:28:27things about the way that they work, and that just really inflames our imaginations.
- 1:28:32And I think all those things together, it's like that was the deal
- 1:28:36with Boba Fet. You know, he had this cool armor that was very
- 1:28:40specific looking. He's a bounty hunter, which sounds kind of like glamorous and
- 1:28:44dangerous, and he is here for a moment and doing some things that seem
- 1:28:48pretty badass, and so people just decided, Okay, well, and probably
- 1:28:55I don't know this, but I'm gonna guess that there's like a lot of
- 1:28:57Star Wars novels out there that were written about him because he started to be
- 1:29:01of interest to people. So one could say that there is stuff in Cannon
- 1:29:06at this point, but I don't count the novels just because I just don't.
- 1:29:11So, yeah, I am not trying to say that that people are
- 1:29:18like being stupid. I'm trying to say that fandoms forget how the cannon comes
- 1:29:28across, and they get very wrapped up in their own narrative. And I
- 1:29:32think that I could see easily how that would happen with a somebody that I'm
- 1:29:38just kind of like whatever, and a very long time fan would be like,
- 1:29:42oh my god, I love him, what do you mean? And
- 1:29:44I would just be like, granted, you probably have been farther along in
- 1:29:47the series also, so you know more about what happens with him than I
- 1:29:50do, so I don't have that kind of investment. But yeah, well
- 1:29:55I always I mean, I agree with everything you said. That's like you're
- 1:30:01just saying that because it's live. No, I mean, I mean,
- 1:30:06I'm just gonna full disclosure. I get what you mean with the Star Wars
- 1:30:11thing, but I did not have like this connection to the soul random so
- 1:30:16I cannot speak to that, but I get the gist of it. And
- 1:30:24yeah, the Ace thing or like when I speak about these things with you,
- 1:30:29I always speak with in this point of the story, you know,
- 1:30:32like because I have been watching this show for so long, so I tried
- 1:30:40to recollect what why, what was I thinking, and what was like the
- 1:30:44inside the side geist of the time, you know in the fandom, which
- 1:30:48I appreciate because not everybody is able to do that to keep in mind,
- 1:30:53like at this point, how was it? And that's like crucial to not
- 1:30:58spoiling me very subtle way. Absolutely so wow. I'm sorry. I'm just
- 1:31:05thinking about how when we finally watched those movies and I was like, that's
- 1:31:09it, that's who Bobafet is. Owen cracked up because he never really bought
- 1:31:15into the fandom with Boba Fet and found it very strange. So he knew
- 1:31:19that I was going to kind of feel the same way. And he felt
- 1:31:23so validated and was just like, thank you. I don't get it either.
- 1:31:29And then they made a TV show and even the show isn't like about
- 1:31:31him. It's like, oh wow, it's like fifty five percent Boba Fet
- 1:31:38and forty five percent a lot of other people, which you know, when
- 1:31:44they have to fill a space somehow. Well, okay, before we end
- 1:31:50this, just a channel question. Will Loofy be able to save as yes
- 1:31:57or no? Yes? Nobody dies on this show? Mm hmm. You
- 1:32:04know, like, I'll tell you what if he doesn't, I will never
- 1:32:11stop laughing if this show doesn't kill anybody ever. And then they just kill
- 1:32:17Lufy's brother. That is going to be hilarious. Like I know that I'm
- 1:32:24being really mean, but that would be such a baller move to just okay,
- 1:32:30you know, what now we're doing it. That would really catch me
- 1:32:32off guard. I don't think that's what we're having happened, but just the
- 1:32:38thought of that is really fine. Such an asshole wolf not from you,
- 1:32:45but from the offer. Nobody dies literally explosion like atomic explosion happens, but
- 1:32:56you this character no right? Like The only thing that I could picture going
- 1:33:02a different way is still that he gets saved, but that it's not Loofy
- 1:33:09who does it, Like he fails, but somebody else steps in, like
- 1:33:13his dad who we've heard about but haven't seen since Logtown pretty much exactly.
- 1:33:21So that's really what it comes down to is I think Ace is getting saved.
- 1:33:27Whether it's Loofy that does it, I'm gonna say it's like ninety percent
- 1:33:30that Lufy will do it, but I I just can't. I'm gonna I'm
- 1:33:40gonna once I finish the series, I'm gonna start writing fan fiction and I'm
- 1:33:44just gonna kill so many characters just to just be like, now we've got
- 1:33:46steaks. What do you think of that? Well? I feel like the
- 1:33:50life action will probably that's true. They have been like killing off more people
- 1:33:58and it works. I'm I'm fine with that yeah, you're right about like
- 1:34:03the it's like side people. But that's the point is that even when side
- 1:34:10people didn't die, I was like, Okay, well then I'm not worried
- 1:34:12about anybody. And I can't remember who it was if it was Seraphim.
- 1:34:16Somebody was in the chat saying that the Birdman in Alabasta. They're like,
- 1:34:21okay, I think he's actually going to die for the live action. I
- 1:34:26was like, yes, agree, Yeah that was the atomic bomb theme.
- 1:34:30I said, like, I feel confident on that one. Yeah. I
- 1:34:35feel like I've probably spoken about this before. I don't know. We don't
- 1:34:41have so much time left. I'm sorry, but I just always how would
- 1:34:47I say that when I don't feel like killing a character makes this story automatically
- 1:34:58better and just the idea of keeping like when a character dies for me,
- 1:35:10it needs to have an impact or meaning. For example, if Pearl would
- 1:35:15have died in this explosion and everything, that would have been great because he
- 1:35:18saved everybody, you know, like it would have a meaning behind it.
- 1:35:24I one time watched the show, and to be honest, I don't know
- 1:35:28what it was. It was like the super bad show that just was on
- 1:35:30the TV and basically the season, Vanelle was kind of this guy like who
- 1:35:39was always like a bad guy, kind of when he was on a good
- 1:35:44side, but like a snape, you know, like okay, so he
- 1:35:48was like an ass. But and then at the end he was like,
- 1:35:53no, he's going to sacrifice himself and I don't know, like he blew
- 1:35:56up. He blew himself up with the monster inside the billing, you know,
- 1:36:00like the culture bank, and you were like, yeah, great,
- 1:36:03and then he did nothing. The monster was still fine. It was like,
- 1:36:06uh, but he died, and I was just like, you know,
- 1:36:13I don't need that. I don't need people just die, you know.
- 1:36:16And hilarious. They were looking for a reason to get rid of this
- 1:36:19guy because he was not testing well with audiences anymore. Yeah, but you
- 1:36:27know, I if somebody dies, I want there to be a meaning and
- 1:36:31like a character arc, I just need something. Just death alone is so
- 1:36:38boring. I'm sorry, I fully agree. That's actually something that I've said
- 1:36:43before as like a kind of weird trend that we got into for a little
- 1:36:46while after Game of Thrones got popular, was because that show was so brutal
- 1:36:51and so many characters that you thought were safe wound up dead. There are
- 1:36:57so many writers both in like novels and TV that decided, oh, what
- 1:37:00people like is characters dying and that there's tons of like violence, and they
- 1:37:08completely misunderstood that, Like, no, what we like is that there are
- 1:37:13actual consequences for characters making bad decisions because otherwise, like most shows, people
- 1:37:18have plot armor and you're like, I know, perfectly well, this is
- 1:37:21going to work out because reasons, and you didn't have that with Game of
- 1:37:28Thrones the deaths of certain people who were very high budget actors who were brought
- 1:37:33on. People were genuinely shocked when they only lasted one season and then had
- 1:37:39their head cut off. So I think that we wound up in this weird
- 1:37:44period where a lot of TV and movies and books went too brutal just for
- 1:37:49the sake of it, thinking that made it good, and it was just
- 1:37:55not, that's not the point of it. So yeah, definitely agree.
- 1:38:00Yeah, And another thing is just like one piece, isn't that okay?
- 1:38:05Like people don't die, okay, So if you really have that big of
- 1:38:13a problem with it, go watch something else. Almostly, yeah, like
- 1:38:16not like it took me a while to like get on board with like,
- 1:38:21Okay, that's what this is going to be, and yeah, I definitely
- 1:38:27agree, but it has its place, you know, like sometimes we're not
- 1:38:30just something funny with like so emotions in it, but not not the stakes
- 1:38:35of that everybody can die at any seconds, Like we want something fluffy,
- 1:38:41you know, even though it is not as fluffy as other things, But
- 1:38:45I thought like there. I think the main issue for me always is does
- 1:38:56the property seem to be aware of what its tone is and one piece nobody
- 1:39:01ever dies? Fine, they know that, and they play it that way,
- 1:39:05like this show does not take itself super seriously. It has serious moments,
- 1:39:11but it doesn't take itself seriously versus my The go to example that I
- 1:39:15always do these days is Doctor Who. Doctor Who took itself really seriously sometimes
- 1:39:24and it pretended it didn't. It would have moments that were like, oh,
- 1:39:27isn't this funny, but even within that it was still very like we're
- 1:39:31so clever, instead of admitting like, sometimes our shit is nonsense and makes
- 1:39:36no sense. And I would get very frustrated watching that because they would create
- 1:39:42these big, supposedly heart wrenching plot lines and I knew the whole premise of
- 1:39:47this show is that you can just go like undo it all. You know,
- 1:39:54there'll be time travel, or there will be some weird like cosmic gadget.
- 1:40:00You can undo the thing, or he just like all of a sudden
- 1:40:03he oh, he has a bracelet that teleports them out. And that was
- 1:40:09what I would get so frustrated with, was like that show is halla goofy,
- 1:40:13and they tried way too hard to be like serious drama. That's not
- 1:40:17where y'all are, and you need to just come to terms with that and
- 1:40:21stop reaching for it because it doesn't hit. At least it didn't for me.
- 1:40:26I know it has a lot of fans, so I'm clearly like I
- 1:40:29am wrong objectively about how it is received because people love it, but I
- 1:40:33don't get why. I just don't understand the like fandom around it. I
- 1:40:38have never watched it, and maybe I will some the day, but so
- 1:40:43far I don't think it's worth it. Somebody out there listening to this is
- 1:40:48yanking their earbuds out of their ears screaming at me. Stand yeah, yeah
- 1:40:55no, but that's definitely like the one example in one piece I can think
- 1:40:59of is in Sky Island. I don't I don't know if you remember,
- 1:41:02but this one guy saves Cony's his daughter, you know, from like a
- 1:41:09lightning strike from naw right, it's Papaya, it's the father right right right,
- 1:41:15And you think he dies or like it seems like that he dies,
- 1:41:18you know, and then at the very end he shows up and it is
- 1:41:23a really comedic way, like they're like all crying like, oh no,
- 1:41:26he's away and he died. And then he's just there and he's like,
- 1:41:30oh yeah, that's really sad, and everybody, what are you? I
- 1:41:33forgot about that? Oh my god. You know, this show knows what
- 1:41:41it is. Yeah, he's just standing among them and be like, yeah,
- 1:41:45that's really tragic. Everybody's like what the fuck are you doing here?
- 1:41:49So it knows that it is like stupid and and fun, you know.
- 1:41:55Yeah, yes, that's it. That's all I want I whenever, like,
- 1:41:59no matter whether there's something is serious or comedic, I just wanted to
- 1:42:01remain consistent in terms of the tone, like it can it can. A
- 1:42:10drama can be comedic, a comedy can be dramatic, but there has to
- 1:42:15be a stability to that and self seriousness is something that very few things I
- 1:42:21have come across really earn. So anyway, all right, well we are
- 1:42:28out of time. Yeah, I think we did pretty good every all things
- 1:42:31considered. I'm sorry guys that I uh shorted you on an episode, but
- 1:42:35I promise I'll make it up to you next time. I'll talk about that
- 1:42:39episode on top and I'll just do my best to like keep my discussion on
- 1:42:45topic and not wander off into tangent land too much. Yeah, because that's
- 1:42:49not what we do. Did for like the past, we had time to
- 1:42:55fill. It was different, it was different. No, I always,
- 1:42:59I always hear I'm always here for that. Listen, I am here for
- 1:43:01that. Like honestly, why else would I be here. I want to
- 1:43:11say thank you for having me and hell for still covering the show and still
- 1:43:16enjoying it. Thank you so much for coming on and commissioning it. And
- 1:43:21just like at this point, I don't even want to do the math on
- 1:43:26how much you guys have shelled out to keep commissioning this show, but you're
- 1:43:30helping me keep the lights on over here, so that is hugely appreciated.
- 1:43:35Oh, it's a win win for everybody, I guess. All right,
- 1:43:40thank you, Florian, I thank everybody listening and we will be seeing you
- 1:43:44again soon with new episodes. Until then, to the lou motherfuckers. Bye.
- 1:44:18That was an unspoiled network podcast.
