- 1:00Speaker 2: Year.
- 1:00Speaker 3: It's what I do, Okay, what I do. Happy New
- 1:03Speaker 3: Year to you, Day two of twenty twenty six. I'm
- 1:07Speaker 3: very optimistic, not because it's a new year, but because
- 1:12Speaker 3: I don't know, even when things aren't so great, they're
- 1:14Speaker 3: still pretty great. And I'm very very much I am
- 1:19Speaker 3: in a state of being grateful and walked out of
- 1:22Speaker 3: here yesterday in the rain at the studio and just
- 1:25Speaker 3: turned on my camera and thanked you for you know,
- 1:31Speaker 3: thirty years and change of being at this place and
- 1:35Speaker 3: your dedication to KFI and all those things. If you
- 1:39Speaker 3: want to join me on social media, please do at
- 1:43Speaker 3: fok Reporter. At fork Reporter. Instagram is where I am mostly,
- 1:46Speaker 3: but you can find me everywhere else there. And if
- 1:49Speaker 3: you like to make things, I do have a new
- 1:51Speaker 3: Instagram which is just the making side of me. I
- 1:56Speaker 3: have a shop at home. I like to fix and
- 1:57Speaker 3: make things, three D printer, laser cut, utter see and
- 2:00Speaker 3: c machines, all kinds of things like that. You can
- 2:05Speaker 3: join me on Savco Industries saav coo Industries, and that's
- 2:14Speaker 3: me just making stuff, working in my shop. And if
- 2:19Speaker 3: you are an artist or a maker of any kind,
- 2:21Speaker 3: I'd love to follow you back, so let me know,
- 2:24Speaker 3: all right, new laws for twenty twenty six. There's a
- 2:28Speaker 3: lot of things. We did some of these the other day,
- 2:30Speaker 3: but they there's so many of them that it's like,
- 2:35Speaker 3: oh my gosh. You know, there's it's very hard to
- 2:39Speaker 3: keep up with these things, as you know what changes
- 2:42Speaker 3: a lot of times. And I was talking with Heather
- 2:44Speaker 3: Brooker about this, like the end of the plastic bags.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Some of them just feel like haven't we jumped through
- 2:49Speaker 3: this hoop before? And so you go back and forth
- 2:52Speaker 3: with and go where are we at this? It's like
- 2:56Speaker 3: he loves me, he loves me? Not are we back
- 2:58Speaker 3: at he loves me? Or are we back at he
- 3:00Speaker 3: loves me?
- 3:00Speaker 2: Not?
- 3:01Speaker 3: So a couple of things, the end of plastic bags,
- 3:05Speaker 3: those thick reusable ones or what they're talking about. Now
- 3:09Speaker 3: the logic just isn't there the problem. I don't want
- 3:17Speaker 3: the Earth to die, but here's here's the rub. And
- 3:22Speaker 3: people never understand when I say this, The Earth is fine.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Nothing's going to happen to the Earth. You and I
- 3:27Speaker 3: might die, you know, it might become uninhabitable, but the
- 3:34Speaker 3: Earth is going to be fine. It's been through a
- 3:36Speaker 3: lot of things that hole the Earth has a favor. Yes,
- 3:41Speaker 3: there are things that are happening, but you know who
- 3:46Speaker 3: created the ice age. We weren't here for that. So
- 3:49Speaker 3: there are things that happen to the planet that are
- 3:53Speaker 3: going to continue to happen to the planet. I think
- 3:55Speaker 3: at this point it's going to be about innovation, not conservation.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Even though I think we should conserve when you can.
- 4:03Speaker 3: I think we we're going to have to invent. But
- 4:05Speaker 3: we keep going back and forth because the problem is
- 4:08Speaker 3: us we're living or breathing, we're existing, our existence, Yes,
- 4:14Speaker 3: taxes the planet, but you know what your existence taxes me,
- 4:18Speaker 3: just like my existence taxes you. That we exist and
- 4:23Speaker 3: we keep looking for ways to keep us from existing.
- 4:27Speaker 3: Maybe if we don't belch, things will be better, or
- 4:32Speaker 3: you know, we're going to come up with new ways
- 4:35Speaker 3: to filter, to understand to do these things. But the
- 4:38Speaker 3: back and forth with the plastic bags always drives me nuts.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Fertility for all, I love this large health plans must
- 4:45Speaker 3: now cover infertility treatments, including IVF, regardless of the person's
- 4:50Speaker 3: sexual orientation or gender identity identity. I think that children,
- 4:59Speaker 3: I almost children are our future. And then I was
- 5:02Speaker 3: going to start breaking out, well let them show them, yeah, exactly,
- 5:06Speaker 3: just jump into song there. But I think that that
- 5:10Speaker 3: is important. It's incredibly expensive and having access to that.
- 5:16Speaker 3: For whatever reason, more and more of the people that
- 5:20Speaker 3: I talked to that want to have children have to
- 5:23Speaker 3: go down the IVF route. Now I'm not sure what
- 5:27Speaker 3: that is and why that's causing it, but that's important.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Another one on this list thirty five dollars insulin out
- 5:34Speaker 3: of pocket costs for a thirty day supply. They're going
- 5:38Speaker 3: to cap at thirty five bucks for group plans. Now
- 5:41Speaker 3: you've got eleven dollars pens available through the state's calor
- 5:45Speaker 3: X program, and I think that that's super duper important
- 5:51Speaker 3: it it does not have to be this expensive. It's
- 5:55Speaker 3: asinine that our medical system are a fantastic country.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Now.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Am I biased? Yeah, I'm very biased. I think it's
- 6:06Speaker 3: the greatest country in the world. And I know it's
- 6:10Speaker 3: very popular not to have that view anymore, but I'm
- 6:14Speaker 3: one of those people that you know, is support the
- 6:18Speaker 3: country you're in, or go to the country you support.
- 6:21Speaker 3: It's like, this is a great country. An opportunity is everywhere.
- 6:26Speaker 3: That's why people come here in mass We need to
- 6:31Speaker 3: get medicine under control. Medicine medical bills are ridoculous here
- 6:39Speaker 3: in America. The mask ban for officers silly little thing
- 6:45Speaker 3: when it comes to federal law, and I think it's
- 6:49Speaker 3: absurd to go back and forth the whole thing about
- 6:52Speaker 3: mandate masks for the protection of people when it came
- 6:58Speaker 3: to COVID and that, and then mandate no masks. You
- 7:03Speaker 3: know what, if you're going to do that, then mandate
- 7:06Speaker 3: no masks in public air in public businesses, because there
- 7:12Speaker 3: are people that are wearing masks to rob and to
- 7:17Speaker 3: run in and smash and grab, and for the protection
- 7:21Speaker 3: of businesses do that. But the reality is with doxing
- 7:25Speaker 3: and the stuff that people do. I do not want
- 7:28Speaker 3: a military state more any more than anyone else. And
- 7:33Speaker 3: I am not thrilled about the way the undocumented and
- 7:38Speaker 3: undocumented you can call them in illegal aliens, whatever you want,
- 7:41Speaker 3: doesn't bother me. But I will tell you the way
- 7:45Speaker 3: that that's being handled, and even some American citizens as well,
- 7:48Speaker 3: is ridiculous. We're better than that. There's better ways to
- 7:51Speaker 3: do that. So those kinds of things, it's it just
- 7:55Speaker 3: is for show, doesn't mean anything. It's just grandstanding. Sexual
- 8:01Speaker 3: assault justice new two year window has opened for survivors
- 8:05Speaker 3: to file civil claims for assaults that happened after the
- 8:08Speaker 3: age of eighteen, even if the statue of limitations has passed.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Easier divorce kind of a bummer. Divorce to be easy,
- 8:21Speaker 3: Maybe getting married should be harder. May you have to
- 8:25Speaker 3: take tests or something? Did you have to do that.
- 8:28Speaker 4: When we got married, Well we didn't have to, but
- 8:30Speaker 4: my husband and I had to go to counseling. Yeah,
- 8:34Speaker 4: pre marriage counseling, you.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Know, Yeah, I did that with the first marriage that
- 8:37Speaker 3: lasted a year second marriage. I just have found a
- 8:42Speaker 3: more compatible and I have zero beef with my first wife.
- 8:46Speaker 3: She's a lovely person. I think she's happier and I'm
- 8:49Speaker 3: happier now, so that's a good thing. But it is funny.
- 8:53Speaker 3: We did all that, and you work hard for those
- 8:56Speaker 3: things and you never ever know. Delivery accountability services like
- 9:00Speaker 3: Uber eats and door dash must provide full refunds for
- 9:03Speaker 3: missing or wrong orders and offer human staffed customer support.
- 9:07Speaker 3: You know, yes, I think that's great, But I've never
- 9:10Speaker 3: had a problem.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Oh I've had wrong orders all the time.
- 9:14Speaker 3: No, I mean I've had that, but I've never had
- 9:16Speaker 3: a problem with them them giving the money right back.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Yeah, lately I haven't. But there's never anybody you can
- 9:22Speaker 4: talk to if there's an issue, like if your Uber
- 9:25Speaker 4: person keeps your food or during COVID is when I
- 9:29Speaker 4: mostly had the problems, like we ordered stuff from the
- 9:31Speaker 4: store and people just keep like batches of toilet paper
- 9:35Speaker 4: or you know whatever. They would just get when they're
- 9:37Speaker 4: delivering when the drivers, Yeah, they would just keep them.
- 9:39Speaker 5: That happened multiple times.
- 9:42Speaker 3: And sell them on the black market. I guess we
- 9:46Speaker 3: never we always have a regular stock. We never stocked
- 9:49Speaker 3: up on anything during that time, and we're fine.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Yeah, well we weren't stocking up. It was just like
- 9:54Speaker 5: a regular like run.
- 9:55Speaker 3: To do you know what I'm saying, Like, if you
- 9:57Speaker 3: have that pattern of once it's off, once you see
- 10:00Speaker 3: it coming off the shelf, to reorder, that cycle, that
- 10:04Speaker 3: normal cycle, Yeah, then we were fine. It's like you
- 10:07Speaker 3: just my wife's that way. Oh we're down to two.
- 10:12Speaker 5: It's never yeh.
- 10:14Speaker 3: The shelf is never empty. God bless her. That saved us.
- 10:18Speaker 3: So we never ever had to deal with any of
- 10:20Speaker 3: that chaos. But there is there is something about when
- 10:26Speaker 3: you're having things delivered and you're like, seriously, we got
- 10:29Speaker 3: three things we didn't order and none of the things
- 10:31Speaker 3: that we did. But I never had a problem either
- 10:35Speaker 3: calling or using the digital service, you know, texting or
- 10:38Speaker 3: something going back and forth saying hey this is a problem,
- 10:40Speaker 3: I'm going not a problem. We put it back in
- 10:42Speaker 3: your account. There you go, but yes, it should be done,
- 10:46Speaker 3: all right. More to come. How to eat like a
- 10:50Speaker 3: super ager. These are the people that are fanatic about
- 10:54Speaker 3: living forever and what they eat. Yeah, we come back.
- 11:01Speaker 3: KFI AM six forty live everywhere on the iHeartRadio. App Hey, everybody,
- 11:06Speaker 3: it's Bill Handle's show, Neil Savadra and the morning crew
- 11:10Speaker 3: today here with Heather Brooker and samza Is on the board.
- 11:15Speaker 3: We've got Trey Alexander in for Will giving us the traffic,
- 11:18Speaker 3: and Matthew in four and producing all this. Hey, thanks
- 11:22Speaker 3: to those of you who reached out and joined me
- 11:25Speaker 3: on Instagram on my personal one. I mean they're both
- 11:30Speaker 3: my personal one. I run both of them, but this
- 11:32Speaker 3: is like my maker one. This is like my little baby.
- 11:35Speaker 3: What I do when I'm not doing radio and hanging
- 11:37Speaker 3: out with my family is making stuff that's at Savco
- 11:42Speaker 3: Industries on Instagram saa v COO Industries. And I love
- 11:50Speaker 3: this crooked finger woodworks looking at some of the people. Gosh,
- 11:54Speaker 3: I love woodworkers. That is gorgeous. There's something about people
- 11:59Speaker 3: making lazy dogs shop. I will follow anybody back who
- 12:04Speaker 3: is a maker or I see that they've got stuff
- 12:08Speaker 3: that they make on there their Instagram as well, because
- 12:12Speaker 3: I love the inspiration of it. But again, you can
- 12:15Speaker 3: join me either at Folk Reporter, which is my general one,
- 12:19Speaker 3: or my special super secret. This is the life behind
- 12:27Speaker 3: my shop curtain at Sevco Industries. But thanks so much
- 12:32Speaker 3: for popping on there. There's a lot on there. Oh
- 12:34Speaker 3: and Heather Brooker, she seems neat. I'm well follow her.
- 12:38Speaker 4: She seems like have I followed Safco And I was like,
- 12:40Speaker 4: oh my gosh, So I needed to correct that right away.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Well, thank you, my friend. I appreciate that I got you. Yeah,
- 12:45Speaker 3: there's a rule that I have. You go through literature,
- 12:49Speaker 3: you go through film, television, plays, everything in life, religion,
- 12:55Speaker 3: all these things, the good create, the bad destroy. And
- 13:01Speaker 3: I think that and you have this exact same energy Heather,
- 13:05Speaker 3: is that you create. And I think that most people do.
- 13:09Speaker 3: There that desire to make things. I think is is
- 13:14Speaker 3: very cool. You know what, maybe we'll do that when
- 13:16Speaker 3: we come back as well, open the phones and talk
- 13:18Speaker 3: to people of what they're what they're making or planning
- 13:21Speaker 3: to make in twenty twenty six. I just I think
- 13:23Speaker 3: that it is It shows a lot about a person,
- 13:28Speaker 3: if they fix, if they make.
- 13:30Speaker 5: If they create.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I just I don't know, So maybe we'll do that,
- 13:34Speaker 3: all right, So to eat like a super ager? Now
- 13:37Speaker 3: are these superagers? There are people that you know they
- 13:40Speaker 3: look at these evidence based habits And I said, if
- 13:44Speaker 3: you lived past eighty my mom is turning eighty eight
- 13:51Speaker 3: on the eleventh, so she's got eight days, no nine days, sorry,
- 13:58Speaker 3: carry the one. She's gonna turn eighty eight.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Yeah, that's great.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Yeah, she got that strong European stock, so white side
- 14:06Speaker 3: of my family we live forever. The Mexican side of
- 14:10Speaker 3: my family, like all my uncles died before they were
- 14:14Speaker 3: sixty I think was now my uncle John. I'm trying
- 14:18Speaker 3: to think when he passed. Maybe he was sixty seven.
- 14:21Speaker 3: But yeah, and my dad lived to seventy three, and
- 14:25Speaker 3: I hope I can live past that because that seems
- 14:27Speaker 3: so young these days. That was twenty one years ago.
- 14:29Speaker 5: My mom's gonna be eighty in February.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Oh that's great.
- 14:32Speaker 4: She's gonna hit the eighty year mark in February. She's
- 14:35Speaker 4: beat cancer twice.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Wow.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Yeah, like a dog three times. Actually, I'm sorry I
- 14:40Speaker 5: forgot about it.
- 14:40Speaker 3: Beat cancer like a dog. She owned it. God bless her.
- 14:44Speaker 5: You know what my husband calls her a tank.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, that's that's kind of you, just that you're
- 14:50Speaker 3: built that way. And you know, I told my mom,
- 14:53Speaker 3: you're not going anywhere. Just live to look, you know,
- 14:56Speaker 3: learn to live with limitations, because we all do every age.
- 15:00Speaker 3: We live with a new limitation. That's just the way
- 15:02Speaker 3: it is in life. And if you you get to
- 15:05Speaker 3: you know, that place, you just have to understand. Okay,
- 15:08Speaker 3: these are limitations, but I still got lots of living
- 15:10Speaker 3: to do. Yeah. So uh, and it's handle about being
- 15:15Speaker 3: old all the time. He's really not.
- 15:17Speaker 5: I mean, but we have to news, okay.
- 15:23Speaker 3: But I will tell you I think our seasoned citizens,
- 15:27Speaker 3: as Rush used to call them, are incredibly important. They
- 15:31Speaker 3: are a wealth of information. I love talking to people
- 15:34Speaker 3: that have lived, and I think they are a huge
- 15:39Speaker 3: resource to the community that I don't know that we
- 15:41Speaker 3: always tap into properly. I mean, the things that they've
- 15:45Speaker 3: seen and done and understood anyway. So I you know,
- 15:48Speaker 3: I like that aspect of living. But I'm going to
- 15:53Speaker 3: tell you something that I've learned in my over a
- 15:55Speaker 3: decade of doing the Fork Report and talking to every
- 15:59Speaker 3: chef you could imagine and dietitians and nutritionis and everything.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Every year they come out with a list of the diets,
- 16:08Speaker 3: the least healthy diets, and at the top of the
- 16:11Speaker 3: list almost every year is those protein high protein diets.
- 16:17Speaker 3: You know, is it Adkins. I don't know if it's
- 16:20Speaker 3: Adkins maybe, but those Mediterranean or no, no, no, no. The
- 16:28Speaker 3: when you go to a fad diet, so when you're
- 16:33Speaker 3: knocking your body into katosis. But here's the thing, because
- 16:36Speaker 3: it's just it's horrible and your kidney and all that.
- 16:39Speaker 3: The one thing I hear every single time, and this
- 16:43Speaker 3: is kind of whittling the story into this. The Mediterranean diet,
- 16:49Speaker 3: healthy nuts, your proteins coming from low fat fish, fruits, vegetables,
- 16:59Speaker 3: all of these. The Mediterranean diet is the only food schedule.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I hate calling a diet, but list of ingredients that
- 17:12Speaker 3: you could eat on a daily basis, and you would
- 17:15Speaker 3: get healthier just by eating it. Hands down, there is
- 17:21Speaker 3: nothing else that compares to it. Ever, Mediterranean food is the.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Only diet my doctor has consistently recommended, the only one.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Anybody that has ever done any research will tell you about.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Everything else falls into the fad category or deprivation, deprive
- 17:44Speaker 3: yourself of this, of that or whatever. But you have
- 17:48Speaker 3: you know, non fat Greek yogurt top with blueberry strawberries, granola,
- 17:55Speaker 3: mixed walnuts, almonds, peanuts, salad of lettuce and treaded carriage tomatoes.
- 18:01Speaker 3: I mean these things and they're good, but trust me,
- 18:06Speaker 3: I am not the person to be giving you diet tips,
- 18:08Speaker 3: but I am telling you strictly based on my contact
- 18:14Speaker 3: with people in the know, and it is nothing compares
- 18:18Speaker 3: to it the Mediterranean food, shish kabobs and these types
- 18:25Speaker 3: of things. It's just very good and uh healthful and nutritious.
- 18:33Speaker 3: And really, anybody that tells you differently the deprivation stuff
- 18:37Speaker 3: or just eat you know, the kidney diet or this
- 18:40Speaker 3: or that, it's all wrong unless your doctor says, because
- 18:44Speaker 3: of your physical restraints or whatever it is, you can't
- 18:48Speaker 3: eat this, that or the other. The Mediterranean diet comes
- 18:52Speaker 3: out every year on top, every year on top, and
- 18:56Speaker 3: if you're looking for longevity, that is the place to go.
- 19:02Speaker 3: So there's that. So enjoy that, you know what. So
- 19:04Speaker 3: let's open the phones. Is is Matthew in there? Okay? Matthew?
- 19:09Speaker 3: So I'm going to open the phones. Eight hundred five
- 19:11Speaker 3: two zero one five three four eight hundred five two
- 19:13Speaker 3: zero one five three four. What are you making or
- 19:16Speaker 3: fixing right now? I'm a big fan of making. I'm
- 19:20Speaker 3: a big fan of fixing. And maybe you're you've got
- 19:23Speaker 3: a plan for the new year, whatever it is. I
- 19:25Speaker 3: think good people create, bad people destroy I want to
- 19:29Speaker 3: hear the good people that are making stuff.
- 19:31Speaker 4: When we come back, I've got some talkbacks coming into people.
- 19:34Speaker 4: I'm responding to you as well.
- 19:36Speaker 3: All right, eight hundred five two zero one five three four.
- 19:40Speaker 3: When we come back.
- 19:41Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 19:45Speaker 1: six forty.
- 19:47Speaker 3: KFI AM six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Hey,
- 19:51Speaker 3: good second day of January. Happy Friday to you. We're
- 19:55Speaker 3: in twenty twenty six. It's Neil Savadra and the Morning Crew.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Bill Handle. Back on Monday. I'll be taking the week off,
- 20:02Speaker 3: be nice, hanging out with the family. My boy Max
- 20:06Speaker 3: gets one more week that we can enjoy together as
- 20:11Speaker 3: a family doing our goofiness. The three of us are
- 20:15Speaker 3: really really a weird threesome.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Very there's something special about being a family of three.
- 20:23Speaker 5: Get really close.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I thought about that the other day.
- 20:26Speaker 3: Listening to you with your family and then meeting them
- 20:29Speaker 3: the other day. Is I'm like, that's they're the same
- 20:31Speaker 3: as us. Yeah, you have that, you know. I come
- 20:33Speaker 3: from a huge family. I have five brothers and one sister,
- 20:35Speaker 3: so and I love it. I never thought. And my
- 20:39Speaker 3: wife has a pair of twin boys, brothers, and then
- 20:43Speaker 3: a younger sister. So that's a fairly sizable family too nowadays.
- 20:48Speaker 3: And then we have you know, this one boy that
- 20:51Speaker 3: I joke about spoiling to death, and you know, when
- 20:54Speaker 3: I tell them you're spoiled, he's like, who's spoiling me? Right,
- 20:57Speaker 3: not spoil myself?
- 20:59Speaker 5: Your father?
- 20:59Speaker 3: Yeah, look in the mirror. But you know, the the
- 21:05Speaker 3: family thing is always a huge to me, and that's
- 21:08Speaker 3: really been paramount is focusing on that. Hey, so this
- 21:11Speaker 3: is what I want to do. Kind of a change
- 21:13Speaker 3: of direction. Thanks Matthew for I'm like, way different than
- 21:18Speaker 3: handle Handles. Doesn't like anything changed, make some nervous. I'm like, yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 3: it's like, I'm like, let's just go. I feel like
- 21:26Speaker 3: talking to people that create, like I said, and you
- 21:28Speaker 3: folks have been joining me on Instagram. Thanks for doing that.
- 21:34Speaker 3: My my making Instagram kind of my personal this is
- 21:38Speaker 3: what I like doing. Stuff is Savco Industries. That's SAA
- 21:42Speaker 3: v COO Industries. And I love seeing your art. Look
- 21:49Speaker 3: at this Thomas Clark with tw Clark Brushworks these this
- 21:54Speaker 3: is stunning.
- 21:56Speaker 2: This.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I love this stuff. If you are a maker or
- 21:59Speaker 3: you just like you know, following makers and stuff. Jump
- 22:02Speaker 3: on here. Mollie Dot Aliyah dot Art, m O L
- 22:08Speaker 3: l e E dot A l i A dot Art.
- 22:13Speaker 3: She's a Resin artist. I love Resin. I love working
- 22:16Speaker 3: with Resin. This is gorgeous stuff. So yeah, and if
- 22:20Speaker 3: you're an artist or something, I'll follow you back on there.
- 22:22Speaker 3: You're a maker, So I got me thinking about makers.
- 22:25Speaker 3: I love makers. Good people create, bad people destroy, and
- 22:31Speaker 3: that's always been how I think. And so twenty twenty
- 22:36Speaker 3: six is going to be another year of creating for me.
- 22:40Speaker 3: This will be the year that I finally start making
- 22:42Speaker 3: a full size art two D two from scratch.
- 22:46Speaker 5: I cannot wait.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I'm working on one now that is, which is kind
- 22:52Speaker 3: of modifying one that Home Depot put out this year
- 22:55Speaker 3: for the holidays, and I'm bringing it up to more
- 22:59Speaker 3: movie accuracy. But I'm going to start from scratch on
- 23:04Speaker 3: one project and I make I make movie props replicas
- 23:07Speaker 3: and fix things around the house and do work at
- 23:11Speaker 3: our cabin, redecorating and building things and stuff. And I
- 23:16Speaker 3: like being handy. Is R two D two gonna make noise? Yeah?
- 23:20Speaker 3: Oh that's cool.
- 23:21Speaker 1: I don't know he'll move because I've seen like stand
- 23:24Speaker 1: still versions of it that don't make any sound, This
- 23:27Speaker 1: don't acts.
- 23:28Speaker 3: This will be the full lights. This will be the
- 23:30Speaker 3: one I'm doing now is modifying that home deep A
- 23:33Speaker 3: one and it will move awesome, it will move. And
- 23:37Speaker 3: my buddy Matt at at Junk Droids, his stuff is great.
- 23:43Speaker 3: He's on at sea and stuff like that. I've been
- 23:47Speaker 3: getting a lot of his stuff and modifying it for this.
- 23:50Speaker 3: It's just it's a fun little project. But I want
- 23:52Speaker 3: to do one from scratch. It'll probably be a couple
- 23:54Speaker 3: of year project at least, but I'd like to hear
- 23:56Speaker 3: from you. If you're building something or making something for
- 24:00Speaker 3: the new year, hit us up on the phone lines
- 24:03Speaker 3: eight hundred five two zero one five three four. Eight
- 24:05Speaker 3: hundred five two zero one five three four. Let's talk
- 24:11Speaker 3: to Rich. Rich. Welcome to KFI.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Good morning, Neil.
- 24:16Speaker 6: Anybody I cannot help but wonder what kind of a
- 24:21Speaker 6: renaissance man you are? You literally make me feel ashamed.
- 24:27Speaker 3: No, it's called ADHD. It's really it's like, oh, look
- 24:31Speaker 3: at that, you know what. I love learning things and
- 24:33Speaker 3: there's so many good teachers out there, and I don't
- 24:36Speaker 3: mean formal teachers, but people that want to share insights.
- 24:41Speaker 3: YouTube is filled with great creators and makers. Many of
- 24:45Speaker 3: them have become friends, and I just I just love
- 24:48Speaker 3: sharing information that people have shared with me. But my
- 24:53Speaker 3: wife probably wishes I had less hobbies. But it's fun.
- 24:56Speaker 3: So what's going on with you, Richiere? Building anything this year?
- 24:59Speaker 6: Well, yes, I am. I'm trying. I'm migrating my data
- 25:04Speaker 6: image data from an old Macintosh Mac Pro to a
- 25:08Speaker 6: new Mac studio. And I'm now seventy six years old,
- 25:12Speaker 6: and I'm going, oh, this was a lot easier when
- 25:16Speaker 6: I was younger.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Well, here's the here's the thing, rich is, we don't
- 25:22Speaker 3: stick with it. It's easier to learn things in increments
- 25:26Speaker 3: rather than all, you know, some big massive thing. So
- 25:29Speaker 3: to me, I have forced myself. I was on the
- 25:33Speaker 3: Mac wagon very early on as a young artist and designer.
- 25:39Speaker 3: I did textiles and stuff, silk screening, T shirts and
- 25:42Speaker 3: stuff like that. Worked for a company as the in
- 25:45Speaker 3: house artist, and they brought in the late eighties, I
- 25:48Speaker 3: think they brought in a company named Apple that was
- 25:52Speaker 3: going they were going to show me their computer. I'm like,
- 25:54Speaker 3: who wants that? It's a glorified type setter. I don't
- 25:57Speaker 3: need that. Yeah, And so I came kicking and streaming,
- 26:02Speaker 3: and now I am full fledged. I have a Mac
- 26:06Speaker 3: studio at home as well. It's a great little machine.
- 26:09Speaker 3: So yeah, it just you'll find that it doesn't you know,
- 26:15Speaker 3: A car is a car is a car. They have
- 26:17Speaker 3: some differences in certain things or the way it's handled,
- 26:21Speaker 3: but they all kind of have the same guts in them.
- 26:24Speaker 3: So you can do it. I believe in you, and
- 26:26Speaker 3: if not, then that's what.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:32Speaker 6: The thing is is that everything's changing. So we had
- 26:36Speaker 6: the spinning hard drives, and now we have the solid stalls, yes,
- 26:41Speaker 6: solid state drives, and you have blutes Thunderbolt too, which
- 26:45Speaker 6: was the old machine. I'm going to figure out how
- 26:47Speaker 6: to make it talk to Thunderbolt five and it's it's
- 26:53Speaker 6: how should I say it? It's awesome and it's wonderful
- 26:57Speaker 6: and hopefully it will we'll keep me thinking for another
- 27:02Speaker 6: few years.
- 27:03Speaker 3: That's the thing. That's that's it exactly. It rich you
- 27:06Speaker 3: got to use that brain that way, And coming from
- 27:09Speaker 3: somebody sitting behind this mic this morning, that will tell you.
- 27:13Speaker 3: I don't throw away my Mac stuff. So I still
- 27:16Speaker 3: got scuzzy cables that I'm you know, have to connect
- 27:20Speaker 3: things to and every once in a while, I have
- 27:22Speaker 3: to pull things out of storage because I find an
- 27:25Speaker 3: old piece of art. Think keep in mind, since nineteen
- 27:28Speaker 3: ninety four or so, I've been creating billboards and designing
- 27:32Speaker 3: stuff alongside people like Bill Lewis back in the day
- 27:36Speaker 3: here at KFI. So I have really old KFI documents
- 27:42Speaker 3: that I have to pull every once in a while
- 27:44Speaker 3: that are all on these old you know, different things
- 27:48Speaker 3: that I haven't used in a long time. So keep
- 27:50Speaker 3: it up. I believe in you, Rich, you can do it,
- 27:52Speaker 3: and keep me posted on your success. There, let's see
- 27:56Speaker 3: what I wanted to there's a really cool where are you?
- 28:07Speaker 3: Somebody called in here? Can you bring me up on?
- 28:12Speaker 3: Can you bring my computer? Aut pleaser? All right, let's
- 28:15Speaker 3: listen here. This is from Steve.
- 28:18Speaker 7: Good morning, Neil and Heather. For this new year, I
- 28:21Speaker 7: am restoring my nineteen sixty five Mustang. Just started on
- 28:27Speaker 7: it and already finding more problems and more problems.
- 28:31Speaker 3: But I guess that's part of the of the Fundah.
- 28:35Speaker 3: Have a good one you guys, Happy New Year, Happy
- 28:37Speaker 3: new year to you. That is awesome, And that is
- 28:40Speaker 3: one of my favorite cars, the uh it is such
- 28:46Speaker 3: a beautiful vehicle. And if you've never seen one, but
- 28:51Speaker 3: those original pony cars are just so stunning. I've actually
- 28:55Speaker 3: driven one before. A friend of mine had one and
- 28:58Speaker 3: it was impeccable. And if you bring those things back
- 29:01Speaker 3: to their original state, they are just so stunning. All right,
- 29:04Speaker 3: talking about what you're making, what you create in for
- 29:07Speaker 3: the new Year, I'm a big believer those who create
- 29:10Speaker 3: are good, those who destroy are bad. But it's a
- 29:15Speaker 3: very simple way of looking at life. So I want
- 29:16Speaker 3: to hear what you're creating, because I think you're good. Also,
- 29:18Speaker 3: you can give us a call at eight hundred five
- 29:21Speaker 3: to zero one five three four eight hundred five to
- 29:23Speaker 3: zero one five three four KFI EIGHTM six forty live
- 29:27Speaker 3: everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Good Friday morning to you,
- 29:31Speaker 3: and I'll be with you tomorrow with a four report
- 29:33Speaker 3: from two to five. So join me there, won't you
- 29:37Speaker 3: looking forward to that. I'm just thrilled many of you
- 29:41Speaker 3: are joining me on my side in my side Instagram
- 29:48Speaker 3: at Savco Industries on Instagram saav coo Industries, and many
- 29:55Speaker 3: of you are artists and makers. And I'm looking through
- 29:58Speaker 3: some of these things right now now of people that
- 30:03Speaker 3: create and make things, and I'm trying to follow everybody
- 30:06Speaker 3: back and look at what everybody's doing. But there was
- 30:09Speaker 3: one very interesting one. And where did I put you?
- 30:12Speaker 3: You little one? Oh? So this is Eric Fox Fox
- 30:16Speaker 3: First on the scene. Is his photography, Fox Underscore First
- 30:22Speaker 3: Underscore on Underscore Scene Underscore photography.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Whow but.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Amazing stuff. Retired LEO Law Enforcement officer. Thank you for
- 30:34Speaker 3: your service, Eric, But looking he's on the scene for sure. Beautiful,
- 30:40Speaker 3: beautiful shots. So if you want to join me there,
- 30:43Speaker 3: we're talking about making. I've said it before, I will
- 30:46Speaker 3: say it again that good people create, bad people destroy. Now,
- 30:50Speaker 3: sometimes you have to destroy something to build something else.
- 30:53Speaker 3: That's different. But as far as creation, I think now
- 30:57Speaker 3: on the religious side of things, I believe that that's
- 30:59Speaker 3: the nature of God, that when we're creating in the
- 31:02Speaker 3: image of God, it's as creators we desire to make things.
- 31:07Speaker 3: And so I'm just taking some calls this morning on
- 31:11Speaker 3: what you're making or planning on making in twenty twenty six.
- 31:14Speaker 3: But if you're working on something, I want to hear
- 31:16Speaker 3: from you as well. This one comes from it looks
- 31:20Speaker 3: like John. This is one on the talk back.
- 31:24Speaker 8: Good morning, mister Savedra, Good morning. I really enjoy when
- 31:27Speaker 8: you fill in. I'm finishing a bathroom that I uh
- 31:34Speaker 8: started eight years ago, ended up half of it demolished
- 31:37Speaker 8: behind the wall behind the new tub I installed. So
- 31:42Speaker 8: right now, at this time, I'm finishing the second half
- 31:46Speaker 8: and it's going quite well. I live in alcohol and
- 31:48Speaker 8: the house is raised, so it's easy to work on
- 31:51Speaker 8: and going well. Thank you, you know that's the truth.
- 31:55Speaker 3: I live on a raised house, a raised foundation as well,
- 31:58Speaker 3: and you could practically walk underneath it. It does make
- 32:01Speaker 3: it much easier to run to do things, you know,
- 32:04Speaker 3: run cat six or whatever I've had to do in
- 32:06Speaker 3: the past, and just get under there. But trust me,
- 32:11Speaker 3: I've had those projects and people go eight years. But
- 32:14Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you something, John, I have been there.
- 32:17Speaker 3: And you think I'm going to get to that, I'm
- 32:19Speaker 3: going to get to that. I'm going to get to that,
- 32:20Speaker 3: and I believe that you will get to it. So
- 32:22Speaker 3: keep on trucking there. Let's go to the phones now
- 32:26Speaker 3: and talk with Star Star. Welcome to KFI.
- 32:30Speaker 9: Hi, thank you, it's so nice to get to speak
- 32:32Speaker 9: to you.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Oh the pleasure's mind. So what do you do to create?
- 32:36Speaker 9: I trust something called crafting cat cartoons? That I put
- 32:39Speaker 9: on Facebook and now Instagram. It's about a little cat
- 32:43Speaker 9: family and friends that have some laughs with arts and
- 32:46Speaker 9: crafts and it's fun for everyone, you know.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Yeah, so wait, where can we find you?
- 32:54Speaker 9: I'm on a lot of them are on Facebook and
- 32:56Speaker 9: I just started putting some on Instagram.
- 32:58Speaker 3: And crafting cats is that what you said?
- 33:02Speaker 9: Crafting? Crafting cat cartoons.
- 33:05Speaker 3: And some that's right now cartoons because I would like
- 33:12Speaker 3: to follow that as well. So, Star Demour, is that
- 33:15Speaker 3: how you produce your name?
- 33:17Speaker 9: Yeah? It is very good.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Following you and these are cute as hell.
- 33:21Speaker 9: Thank you, and I will follow you too as soon
- 33:23Speaker 9: as I can get my computer to start working this morning.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Well, uh, you can deal with I think Rich called
- 33:31Speaker 3: earlier dealing with computer problems. We should start a dating
- 33:34Speaker 3: app for those having to deal with that. Thanks for
- 33:36Speaker 3: calling Star. Uh what is this ish? Is that for real?
- 33:43Speaker 3: Is h?
- 33:45Speaker 2: Yes? Well it's sure for.
- 33:48Speaker 3: Oh it's also something people say instead of the S words.
- 33:52Speaker 3: So I was just curious, you know all that ish? Okay,
- 33:55Speaker 3: so what do you build an ish?
- 33:59Speaker 2: I'm not I have a proposal for you.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Oh please.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Okay. Instructibles, yes, it's for makers.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Yeah, instructibles is a website and where people put photos
- 34:14Speaker 3: or video or step by step of how to make things.
- 34:18Speaker 2: If my memory serves me correctly, about four years ago,
- 34:23Speaker 2: four and a half years ago, I've seen a thing
- 34:25Speaker 2: called a swear bear. Uh huh. It's a little bear
- 34:34Speaker 2: that will tell you when your swear swear. You know.
- 34:40Speaker 2: So what it does? Uh, I'm not that well aptituded
- 34:45Speaker 2: to this guy. I haven't done this in years. I
- 34:47Speaker 2: think the last thing I put together was a was
- 34:50Speaker 2: a TV called a heath kit that.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Was about Oh I remember those heath kits. I think
- 34:55Speaker 3: that company is still around.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Yeah. But anyhow, what this little bear does is when
- 35:02Speaker 2: somebody swores you look it up, for example, to what
- 35:06Speaker 2: they call a dump button, uh huh, and it'll automatically
- 35:12Speaker 2: turn it on a tool dumping.
- 35:17Speaker 3: It'll turn on the bear and dump it.
- 35:21Speaker 2: No, it'll turn on the dump button. You know what
- 35:24Speaker 2: a dump button is.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Well, yeah, we have them here at the station. The
- 35:26Speaker 3: dump button is good. Yeah, we have them so that
- 35:29Speaker 3: we can you know, cut it if somebody says something.
- 35:33Speaker 3: But I'm not sure what this means.
- 35:37Speaker 2: Well, what that means is, uh, Shannon doesn't get the
- 35:42Speaker 2: vacation time. You saved the money from the fines from
- 35:46Speaker 2: their c.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Goes on, Okay, well we do have we do have
- 35:55Speaker 3: a dump button, but yeah, there are There is a
- 35:58Speaker 3: swear bear on in Instructibles at unstructibles dot com that
- 36:02Speaker 3: has five steps and it says do you swear too much?
- 36:06Speaker 3: Don't worry? This artificial intelligence powered Internet of Things enabled
- 36:13Speaker 3: that just means that you can control them over the internet.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Swear jar is here to help. That's interesting. So it
- 36:19Speaker 3: listens to your every word detext profanity via AI and
- 36:23Speaker 3: then when caught, it instantly tells you in a very
- 36:28Speaker 3: public data system, not only revealing that you committed this crime,
- 36:33Speaker 3: but it basically punishes you for doing that. That's creepy
- 36:39Speaker 3: as hell, but kind of interesting. Robbie in Riverside, Welcome
- 36:45Speaker 3: to KFI.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Hi.
- 36:48Speaker 9: I don't know if you're interested in the stuff I do,
- 36:50Speaker 9: but I started.
- 36:51Speaker 8: Bringing in hummingbirds and now I make fountains for them
- 36:54Speaker 8: and hummingbirds seedters.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Oh no, I'm kidding. Why wouldn't I be interested in that?
- 37:01Speaker 9: When you're making robots and different things.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I looked at your Instagram and I.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Just followed you with hours.
- 37:06Speaker 9: We're under Robby and Gary gardner easy and it's amazing
- 37:10Speaker 9: the stuff you can make. And people want to buy fountains,
- 37:13Speaker 9: but it's so easy to make.
- 37:15Speaker 3: But I love that. That's the Here's the thing. I
- 37:18Speaker 3: see so much being thrown out, you know, and you
- 37:22Speaker 3: and I go, you know what, that could be repurposed.
- 37:25Speaker 3: You could pull it apart and use it for something else,
- 37:27Speaker 3: or you can just refurbish it. And I'm a huge
- 37:29Speaker 3: If you ever go on YouTube, look for those that
- 37:33Speaker 3: restore things. It's amazing. I will go down. My brother
- 37:36Speaker 3: Craig and I were just talking about this the other day,
- 37:38Speaker 3: go down these rabbit holes of people making or refurbishing things,
- 37:44Speaker 3: and it Sometimes these are things made in the eighteen
- 37:46Speaker 3: hundreds that just need you know, cheese cutters, all kinds
- 37:51Speaker 3: of weird things that you go, that's beautiful, and they
- 37:54Speaker 3: refurbish them. But I think that's wonderful. Hummingbirds are gorgeous,
- 37:58Speaker 3: for one, and watching them is amazing, So I think that. No,
- 38:03Speaker 3: I'm not a maker snob. I love anything and everything,
- 38:07Speaker 3: the slightest, most simplest tools. Watching somebody do orgami is
- 38:13Speaker 3: amazing to me. All these things are beautiful to me.
- 38:17Speaker 3: You know what, I know, we are going to go
- 38:18Speaker 3: into footy Friday. But I'm enjoying this. So if you have,
- 38:23Speaker 3: if you're making something for twenty twenty six, or you're
- 38:25Speaker 3: working on something right now, all makers, artists, I want
- 38:29Speaker 3: to hear from you eight hundred five two zero one
- 38:31Speaker 3: five three four eight hundred five to zero one five
- 38:34Speaker 3: three four, or you can hit us up on the
- 38:36Speaker 3: iHeartRadio app on the talkback just by going to that
- 38:40Speaker 3: red circle with the mic icon on it and leaving
- 38:44Speaker 3: thirty seconds or less there. Let's get to the well.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Actually we're at the top of the hour. This is
- 38:49Speaker 3: KFI heard everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
- 38:52Speaker 5: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
- 38:54Speaker 8: Catch My Show Monday through Friday six am to nine am,
- 38:57Speaker 8: and anytime on demand the iHeartRadio app
