- 0:00What's good, Harder Than Life Nation? It's Kelly Siegel and welcome to the Hard Reset. Let me start with a question that might hit a nerve because I know it does with me. Every time I bring it up to anybody, they correct me. How many things have you learned that you haven't actually used yet?
- 0:19How many books have you read? Podcasts you've listened to, courses you've taken, notes in your phone, therapy sessions. I know for me, I got hundreds of thousands of notes. I'm trying to figure out a way to link them so I can keep going. I'm a constant learner at all. Yeah, I'm right there with you. Here's the uncomfortable truth I had to face about myself. At some point, learning became my hiding place.
- 0:50I told myself I was preparing. When I learn enough, I will get started. I'm not ready yet. I just need one more piece of information. If I was being honest with myself, and perhaps this will resonate with you, I already knew enough. What I didn't have was the courage to act. I didn't.
- 1:16Learning feels productive. It feels responsible. It even feels disciplined. But remember the ABCs. Action builds confidence and gets results. And here's why it's dangerous to not act. It gives you the illusion of progress without requiring risk. Action is so different. Action exposes you.
- 1:44Action means someone can say, no, you might fail. Action means you might look stupid and you probably will, but you need to do it anyways. Action means you can't blame lack of knowledge anymore, but I'm not ready. I remember sitting on my laptop halfway through a course I paid good money for and realizing I'm not stuck because I don't know what to do.
- 2:11I'm stuck because I'm scared to do it. That's not being harder than life. That realization hurt, but it was freeing. Because once you see it, you can't unsee it. You realize most breakthroughs don't come from new information. They come from finally using what you already know, taking action. You don't need another nutrition plan. You need to eat the food or do the exercise.
- 2:39You don't need another leadership book. You need to have the hard conversation or just go first. You don't need another business course. You need to make the call, post the content, launch the thing, send the email, build the blog, build the landing page, whatever it is, just take that next step. Knowledge doesn't move the needle unless courage puts it into motion.
- 3:05So here's your hard reset. Pause the learning. Choose action.
- 3:11You don't need to feel ready. You don't need permission. You don't need one more download. You do need courage. Messy, imperfect, uncomfortable courage. Tomorrow, Charlotte Dobre joins us.
