- 0:55Speaker 1: of everyone that had working ear drums and brain cells.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Please never show that or interview him again.
- 1:01Speaker 3: That's valid. That was tough.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Travis and West Virginia says, kudos to Pat Nagawan for
- 1:08Speaker 1: being so pumped but still maintaining the same monotone he's
- 1:11Speaker 1: famous for.
- 1:13Speaker 3: People are so mean.
- 1:14Speaker 1: I like it.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Like here, Avis doesn't hold back, You'll go anywhere.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Ryan wants to know. Do we put anything into the
- 1:23Speaker 1: card Goodell Red that had Yakis as a linebacker? Is
- 1:28Speaker 1: that submitted by the team or pulled from an NFL
- 1:31Speaker 1: rollerdex as far as players position.
- 1:33Speaker 5: Well, he's an outside linebacker. Yeah, so he's an edge guy. Yeah, yeah, No,
- 1:38Speaker 5: I mean he's not a hand in the dirt defensive end.
- 1:41Speaker 5: He's gonna stand up outside the tackle on it.
- 1:44Speaker 6: It is so funny, like I feel a little bit
- 1:45Speaker 6: like we've lost the plot with the positions of like
- 1:47Speaker 6: losine edge or is in a defensive end resil outside linebacker,
- 1:50Speaker 6: you know, and I know that they're all different, but
- 1:51Speaker 6: it's you know, we could probably just call them all
- 1:54Speaker 6: defensive end.
- 1:54Speaker 3: So, you know, we were talking. I think, I don't
- 1:57Speaker 3: know if we're off air and up. But Max Claire
- 1:58Speaker 3: went to the rams before or after we were on
- 2:02Speaker 3: where you thought he would go, right, yeah, sure, now
- 2:05Speaker 3: this is this is it.
- 2:05Speaker 6: I mean that's why I said I thought they could
- 2:08Speaker 6: get the edge in the second round and put the
- 2:10Speaker 6: tight ends in. I mean, it's but it's been weird.
- 2:12Speaker 6: How the how the tight ends have been going off
- 2:14Speaker 6: the board?
- 2:14Speaker 4: Life, Yeah you are what happened?
- 2:17Speaker 3: I'll tell you often. Oh for life.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Let's go to Toronto. Dave's up in.
- 2:26Speaker 7: But you guys, quick question, quick two questions. Is I
- 2:31Speaker 7: think O T seven and then Jackets is edge eleven?
- 2:39Speaker 7: Do you think there's a little bit of you know,
- 2:41Speaker 7: Fomo missing all those ots, all those edges we got
- 2:44Speaker 7: the last one? Is at the worry that maybe you
- 2:46Speaker 7: got the the least good guy out of that class
- 2:50Speaker 7: by picking the last one that hasn't been no T
- 2:53Speaker 7: selective after Lomu went in the last round, and then
- 2:57Speaker 7: Jackus might be the last one for another.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Well, I mean you're basing your number on Dane Brugler,
- 3:05Speaker 1: you know. So that's one guy's opinion. Yeah, they're all
- 3:08Speaker 1: very different style players, even at the same position. So
- 3:12Speaker 1: I mean, who knows who actually is going to be
- 3:15Speaker 1: the best out of that group?
- 3:17Speaker 5: That's that last thing is very fair, like this is
- 3:20Speaker 5: what we all project is going to be the best players,
- 3:23Speaker 5: but in three years that it never is always the
- 3:25Speaker 5: way it seems right now, you know, I would say
- 3:28Speaker 5: with Lomu I agree with the caller a little bit.
- 3:31Speaker 8: You know, I think it.
- 3:32Speaker 5: Was sort of the last guy and we are waiting
- 3:35Speaker 5: for the next tackle, which is what Elliott Wolf said
- 3:38Speaker 5: with us off the top of the show. He acknowledged that, Yeah,
- 3:40Speaker 5: there's going to be a drop off at this position.
- 3:42Speaker 5: I mean, we've been talking about it for four months.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That doesn't mean they had him as the seventh.
- 3:47Speaker 8: Not necessarily, right Akus.
- 3:49Speaker 5: On the other hand, we've been talking about the depth
- 3:52Speaker 5: and the talent of this edge class. EDGE eleven this
- 3:54Speaker 5: year is not the same as Edge eleven every single year.
- 3:57Speaker 3: You know, a lot of these.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Guys that went today might have been, you know, gone
- 4:02Speaker 5: ten to fifteen picks higher in a draft that didn't
- 4:05Speaker 5: have this kind of talent, in this kind of depth
- 4:07Speaker 5: at that position.
- 4:08Speaker 3: So I don't look at that as the case with Acus.
- 4:11Speaker 5: I think that all these guys were sort of in
- 4:13Speaker 5: a cluster together and in the way they came off
- 4:15Speaker 5: the board was probably more circumstantial than it was about talent.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just at the end of the day, NFL.
- 4:21Speaker 7: Feel that way about them by by them lasting that long, I.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Mean, this is about where you thought they were.
- 4:26Speaker 5: They lasted long I mean they flew out. As soon
- 4:28Speaker 5: as Night two started, all of them started flying off
- 4:31Speaker 5: the board.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean to go back to the rankings that
- 4:35Speaker 3: we're using, right, I mean Dane Brugal has him forty nine,
- 4:38Speaker 3: he goes fifty five. I mean that's yeah, you're in
- 4:41Speaker 3: the neighborhood within the range, right. Just real quick, I
- 4:45Speaker 3: think Acus is doing his conference call with the media.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Our own Alex Francisco tweets out that he says that
- 4:53Speaker 3: the Patriots were always front of mine for him when
- 4:56Speaker 3: people asked him what his favorite thirty visit was. Quote,
- 4:58Speaker 3: I just love how the coaching to have treated me
- 5:00Speaker 3: when I got there. They challenged me, not only physically
- 5:02Speaker 3: but mentally. It's my brand of football. Love that tracks
- 5:06Speaker 3: love it right tracks to what we're talking about.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you know, look it's up on the auditorium.
- 5:11Speaker 5: We've talked about it. It's been in fortune Foxborough. Mike
- 5:14Speaker 5: Rabel has his four non negotiables. One of them at
- 5:18Speaker 5: the number one at the top is effort and finish.
- 5:20Speaker 5: And I remember when they hired Mike Rabel. We were
- 5:23Speaker 5: down in Mobile at the Senior Bowl and I asked
- 5:26Speaker 5: Ryan Cowden, who had been with Mike Rabel obviously in Tennessee,
- 5:29Speaker 5: I said, what's a Mike Rabel player?
- 5:31Speaker 8: And he said, I know this is going to sound.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Cliche, but we're all about effort and finish everybody that
- 5:37Speaker 5: we draft, everybody that we acquire. That's going to be
- 5:40Speaker 5: a non negotiable for every single player. And if I
- 5:44Speaker 5: had to say who had the best effort and finish
- 5:46Speaker 5: out of anybody in this edge class, then I think
- 5:48Speaker 5: Akis might be the winner.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Him and Thomas, Him and Thomas with a two to me.
- 5:51Speaker 6: And that's you know, when I said the guys that
- 5:53Speaker 6: I'd be happy with, Like they have to rank guys,
- 5:56Speaker 6: but at the end of the day, these are five
- 5:57Speaker 6: players that you don't know exactly how it's all going
- 5:59Speaker 6: to play out, but it's so obvious with him, effort
- 6:04Speaker 6: and finished.
- 6:05Speaker 3: This is their kind of guy.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Violence too, is the word, and I think he mentioned
- 6:08Speaker 6: that in his press conference right now.
- 6:10Speaker 3: He plays with violence and that's what they're looking for.
- 6:12Speaker 8: Yeah, they they use that word a lot, you know,
- 6:14Speaker 8: on the field in.
- 6:16Speaker 5: A good way, in a good way kind of violence.
- 6:19Speaker 5: But you know, whenever we talk, what the assistant coaches
- 6:21Speaker 5: do is they're always using the word violence, violence. We
- 6:24Speaker 5: want to play with violence. That that's this kind of guy.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yep, okay, well we're excited.
- 6:31Speaker 3: If we got.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Some callers lined up, We'll start with Christian in LA.
- 6:37Speaker 1: What's up? Christian? Your name's been mentioned?
- 6:40Speaker 9: You know what's up?
- 6:41Speaker 10: You know?
- 6:41Speaker 11: I don't know how you guys have this amazing ability
- 6:44Speaker 11: to talk yourselves into picks, just like you talked yourselves
- 6:47Speaker 11: Will Campbell last year.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Christian I said, as at the top of the show, Christian,
- 6:51Speaker 6: who who talked them?
- 6:53Speaker 8: Who's talking themselves into lomu? Christian? When did I come on?
- 6:56Speaker 11: I have heard you.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Guys.
- 7:00Speaker 11: We're talking about a guy who they're hoping doesn't even
- 7:03Speaker 11: play next this this year. How do we make our
- 7:06Speaker 11: first pick someone that is not an impact player? We
- 7:09Speaker 11: went to the Super Bowl. We have one job them
- 7:12Speaker 11: pick one impact player, just one.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Who is your guy? Who is your guy?
- 7:18Speaker 8: Who I really liked?
- 7:20Speaker 11: H I love Cashes, How I loved uh Boston. I
- 7:24Speaker 11: love these guys that are just angry impact players. You
- 7:27Speaker 11: know they're going to hit, you know they're going to
- 7:28Speaker 11: do something. The guys we have I get it, Caleb
- 7:31Speaker 11: Lomo the year from now, maybe you know they're gonna
- 7:33Speaker 11: wind up pushing will inside and put them on. Why
- 7:36Speaker 11: are you getting a guy to help the guy that
- 7:37Speaker 11: you got last year because you made a mistake last
- 7:39Speaker 11: year and now you're trying to fix that mistake.
- 7:41Speaker 12: I don't know what the state guys.
- 7:43Speaker 11: I don't just getting an impact player this draft? What
- 7:45Speaker 11: do you I mean, come on, I'll take up the air.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Well, okay, all right, list not everyone has we might
- 7:52Speaker 1: be right, I don't.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I don't know who the guys are they're going to hit.
- 7:55Speaker 5: I I agree with you to an extent on Lomu.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Like the Loan MoU pick, I didn't love. I said
- 7:59Speaker 5: it in the moment that I didn't love to pick,
- 8:01Speaker 5: and I I haven't changed my mind on that now.
- 8:03Speaker 5: They wouldn't be back over with that because because like
- 8:05Speaker 5: that's just one of the most fun players in the draft.
- 8:08Speaker 5: Like it's going to take Patriots fans like one preseason
- 8:12Speaker 5: game to be like, holy crap, this guy is awesome.
- 8:15Speaker 5: And so I get it, Like, you know, the low
- 8:17Speaker 5: MoU pick was not exciting. It was it's a red
- 8:21Speaker 5: shirt tackle, Like that's not exciting. It just is what
- 8:24Speaker 5: it is. But you know, I understand and underwear for
- 8:28Speaker 5: Christmas I understand was its.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Wail about the status of the offensive line and the
- 8:35Speaker 1: help that you need to give Drake May And then
- 8:37Speaker 1: you pick a guy and then you get upset about it.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Right, Well, why they're not sure he's going to do
- 8:41Speaker 3: anything to help that. That's why.
- 8:42Speaker 1: No, But you're more sure than if you waited until
- 8:45Speaker 1: round three. You know what I mean.
- 8:47Speaker 3: But the guy's not going to play this year. That's
- 8:51Speaker 3: why I said, I understand the philosophy behind the pick. I.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I kind of share Evans sort of indifference. I don't
- 8:58Speaker 3: I'm not killing it. I'm not calling it a bust
- 9:00Speaker 3: or anything like that. But I understand why some people
- 9:03Speaker 3: would not be in love with this pick. I was
- 9:05Speaker 3: not in favor of taking a tackle in the first round.
- 9:08Speaker 8: I came around, but everybody else was.
- 9:10Speaker 6: But you like the left tackle part of it, right,
- 9:12Speaker 6: And that's what you said.
- 9:13Speaker 3: I like the idea of what he did. Absolutely, And
- 9:16Speaker 3: is it hard?
- 9:17Speaker 6: Is it hard to see Morgan Moses gets hurt in
- 9:20Speaker 6: week two and boom.
- 9:21Speaker 3: And then have some insurance.
- 9:24Speaker 6: Absolutely, it's not that hard. This is what good teams do.
- 9:26Speaker 6: Why did they lose the Super Bowl? What was the
- 9:28Speaker 6: number one reason I would say, because they couldn't protect
- 9:31Speaker 6: Drake May at all.
- 9:33Speaker 1: You know, I think that to me, protect it's a.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Chicken, it's a chicken or egg thing.
- 9:38Speaker 1: What was the other?
- 9:38Speaker 3: What's the other one?
- 9:39Speaker 1: May?
- 9:41Speaker 3: Well?
- 9:41Speaker 6: Yeah, but they probably connected too, right, So I just again, like,
- 9:45Speaker 6: I just think protecting Drake May having long term stability
- 9:47Speaker 6: along the offensive line, especially at the two tackle positions.
- 9:50Speaker 6: And you now have a guy who can Yes, if
- 9:53Speaker 6: Will Campbell gets hurt, he can play left tackle too.
- 9:55Speaker 6: It doesn't necessarily have to be always going to have
- 9:57Speaker 6: to replace Will Campbell. You these are positions that are
- 10:01Speaker 6: really really hard to find. These tackles, they all went
- 10:05Speaker 6: because it's a valuable position. The Patriots had to trade
- 10:07Speaker 6: up to get this guy. Did they love him? Was
- 10:10Speaker 6: he their number one choice?
- 10:11Speaker 3: Maybe not? But they know that.
- 10:12Speaker 6: This is a position you can't get caught with your
- 10:14Speaker 6: pants down, because anybody who sat through the last two
- 10:16Speaker 6: seasons when we have the Darien Lowett left tackle, okay,
- 10:20Speaker 6: like they're not going to let that happen again.
- 10:22Speaker 3: You know, I've heard boss this guy any better than that.
- 10:24Speaker 6: I will find out he's got more talent, doesn't he?
- 10:26Speaker 1: But I don't know, Well, I don't know anything, you know,
- 10:29Speaker 1: I heard Bartha. I heard Barth.
- 10:32Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 10:33Speaker 8: Tomorrow.
- 10:34Speaker 3: I don't have that Christian has. I don't know which
- 10:37Speaker 3: guys are going to hit right, Christian knows.
- 10:41Speaker 1: So I heard Barth on a couple of shows and
- 10:42Speaker 1: he made the same point. It seemed to be his
- 10:45Speaker 1: big point this today is that he's been covering the team.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I think it was eight or ten years, and every
- 10:50Speaker 1: year I think it was eight years. Every year it's
- 10:53Speaker 1: how are we going to fix tackle? Yeah, every year
- 10:55Speaker 1: that he's heard him say that, Yeah, yeah, that's a
- 10:58Speaker 1: good point.
- 10:58Speaker 6: So maybe one year you might have to take one
- 11:00Speaker 6: a little bit right, So let's just get some guys
- 11:03Speaker 6: in the house and not have to go back.
- 11:05Speaker 3: To the days where we don't know what the hell.
- 11:06Speaker 3: That gets back to my original point that I made
- 11:08Speaker 3: that I agree and Mike called me on it because
- 11:10Speaker 3: that's what I said. I like the idea behind all
- 11:12Speaker 3: of this, with the insurance, and yes, he's a first
- 11:14Speaker 3: round pick, so we should absolutely be better than Baderian Lowell,
- 11:17Speaker 3: and I think that I could.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Come in and beat out Morgan Moses. That could happen.
- 11:22Speaker 5: It could happen. I don't think instead of him. But
- 11:25Speaker 5: I think the concern that I that I had with
- 11:27Speaker 5: Lomu was just it just doesn't feel like a Rabel
- 11:31Speaker 5: kind of player. And maybe I'm putting too much emphasis
- 11:34Speaker 5: on that. But they take Lomu in the first round.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Who's played he told you know, we played his interview
- 11:40Speaker 5: off the top of the show. He said he played
- 11:42Speaker 5: at three oh seven last year.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I know that's that's that's light, right, And.
- 11:46Speaker 5: And the big knock on him is that he's not physical,
- 11:49Speaker 5: he doesn't that he doesn't have grit, he doesn't have toughness.
- 11:53Speaker 5: He's not a competitive, tough, you know kind of player
- 11:56Speaker 5: like that in terms of like mauling guys. Right Then
- 11:59Speaker 5: in the second round, so they draft the athlete in
- 12:01Speaker 5: the first round, and Elliott Wolf told us that athleticism
- 12:04Speaker 5: on the offensive line is now an emphasis. They want
- 12:06Speaker 5: to get athletes on the offensive line. Now in the
- 12:09Speaker 5: second round, we're telling you that they drafted a guy
- 12:11Speaker 5: that has maybe the best motor and most violent player
- 12:15Speaker 5: in the entire draft. So was this like a one
- 12:17Speaker 5: for me, one for you situation, because like this feels
- 12:20Speaker 5: like an actus, feels like a Rabel player, and low
- 12:24Speaker 5: move feels like somebody else, like maybe Elliott Wolf, you know,
- 12:28Speaker 5: because the athleticism along the offensive line is an old
- 12:31Speaker 5: Green Bay Packers thing. The Packers have always drafted great
- 12:34Speaker 5: athletes on the offensive line. They've prioritized athletes over you know,
- 12:39Speaker 5: power and play, strength and size for years.
- 12:42Speaker 8: So maybe maybe that's what that is. I don't know,
- 12:46Speaker 8: but like they're two very very different players, right, you know,
- 12:51Speaker 8: in terms of like their attitude and what their played,
- 12:53Speaker 8: demeanor and what they bring to the table in that regard.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Ryan says, I love the picks. I'd rather have the
- 12:59Speaker 1: seventh tackle and a seventh tackle draft, and the eleventh
- 13:02Speaker 1: tackle in a seventh tackle draft. Why are we complaining
- 13:05Speaker 1: that we got one of the top guys with each
- 13:07Speaker 1: position better than Kayden Wallace where we missed the bus
- 13:10Speaker 1: and had to overdraft.
- 13:12Speaker 8: That's a fair point, Absolutely fair point.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Now, good solid look at it.
- 13:17Speaker 5: I had sold myself on the whole, you know, let's
- 13:20Speaker 5: draft a tackle thing a year early instead of a
- 13:22Speaker 5: year or too late if it was going to be
- 13:25Speaker 5: Ianach or Blake Miller. And I think that's where a
- 13:27Speaker 5: lot of people were with me on that. And so
- 13:30Speaker 5: then when it was the other guy, it was a
- 13:32Speaker 5: little bit of a letdown. Maybe that's just because we
- 13:35Speaker 5: didn't talk about him enough or we weren't on him
- 13:38Speaker 5: or whatever, but you.
- 13:39Speaker 8: Know, it does.
- 13:40Speaker 5: That was the disappointing part to me was that, you know,
- 13:43Speaker 5: I was kind of on Paul's side of the street,
- 13:45Speaker 5: Like I didn't really love the idea.
- 13:47Speaker 3: I didn't think they were.
- 13:48Speaker 5: There yet to be drafting a player in the first
- 13:51Speaker 5: round that wasn't really gonna play. But the talent with
- 13:54Speaker 5: ianach Or and Blake Miller felt so good that I
- 13:57Speaker 5: was willing to kind of overlook that because it's it's
- 14:00Speaker 5: a lot of talent at a premium position.
- 14:02Speaker 8: I don't know if I'm in love with Lamu.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Like that like I was with those two guys, But
- 14:06Speaker 3: if something happens to Morgan Mos', the whole outlook changes
- 14:12Speaker 3: and you know, and I understand what people are talking about,
- 14:15Speaker 3: like what Mike, just like just that insurance level that
- 14:18Speaker 3: you have.
- 14:19Speaker 6: Absolutely you know, we talked about this, I feel like
- 14:21Speaker 6: a few weeks ago. I feel like a few weeks ago.
- 14:23Speaker 6: The question has come up a couple of times this offseason.
- 14:26Speaker 6: I think the last time it was when Elliott's press
- 14:28Speaker 6: conference was like out of nowhere?
- 14:30Speaker 3: Is Morgan mos Is going to play this year?
- 14:32Speaker 6: Yeah, we've heard that brought up a couple of times,
- 14:34Speaker 6: and he's at We've seen him in the pictures and
- 14:36Speaker 6: working out and everything, but working out.
- 14:38Speaker 1: I just I've heard that a couple of times pop up.
- 14:42Speaker 1: That was a blowney story, wasn't it. I don't.
- 14:44Speaker 6: I don't maybe, but I just Paul and I looked
- 14:46Speaker 6: at each other.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Why did we keep bringing this up? You know, I
- 14:49Speaker 3: was going to say, don't do that too, I know,
- 14:52Speaker 3: because that's dirty pool because of what that guy did
- 14:54Speaker 3: to him.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Well, yeah, that was someone did that.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Someone attached his name to something.
- 14:59Speaker 1: That's why I'm a Patriots fan up there. Now we're
- 15:03Speaker 1: onto the third round.
- 15:04Speaker 5: But all right, so, but for whatever reason he gets
- 15:07Speaker 5: hurt play, assuming can play as a rookie.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Right, but I'm not he's ready to play.
- 15:15Speaker 5: I'm not questioning whether he can play at all. Don't
- 15:16Speaker 5: get me wrong. I'm questioning whether he can size.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Everything I read said he's going to need to pack
- 15:21Speaker 3: on some muscle.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Yeah ye, and Clinton Omaha says. One thing Rabel mentioned
- 15:26Speaker 1: at the start of the season with players need to
- 15:28Speaker 1: get physically stronger, said that about the current ross. Right,
- 15:32Speaker 1: that's a weakness for Lomu, but he may be able
- 15:34Speaker 1: to do that while not being forced into a role
- 15:37Speaker 1: something Wilson and Campbell uh did have the luxury didn't
- 15:41Speaker 1: have the luxury of that.
- 15:42Speaker 5: That's that's that emailer hitting on another one of my points,
- 15:45Speaker 5: Like it just runs counteractive to what we have gotten
- 15:50Speaker 5: to know Mike Rabel And listen to Mike Frable talk.
- 15:52Speaker 5: He said that tous dudes at the combine, right, that
- 15:55Speaker 5: these guys need to get stronger. That basically he told
- 15:58Speaker 5: Will Campbell and Jared Wilson to get in the weight room.
- 16:01Speaker 5: That's essentially what he told him to do. And now
- 16:03Speaker 5: they drafted another offensive lineman who everybody is saying needs
- 16:07Speaker 5: to get in the weight room. So it just it
- 16:10Speaker 5: runs counter to everything that we I thought I knew
- 16:14Speaker 5: of Mike Rabel and so you know, I would I
- 16:17Speaker 5: would love the opportunity to ask him that question.
- 16:19Speaker 1: I would like to speak to. I would like to
- 16:21Speaker 1: talk to who's in charge of our conditioning now.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Frank, Yeah, Frank Perry in.
- 16:26Speaker 1: His opinion, how long does it take someone to gain
- 16:30Speaker 1: twenty pounds of real muscle, you know, functional muscle, not
- 16:35Speaker 1: just you know, you know bench press muscle, I mean
- 16:38Speaker 1: functional muscle.
- 16:40Speaker 3: I mean we watched it.
- 16:41Speaker 5: You know, Deuce brought up the Super Bowl like Seattle
- 16:44Speaker 5: just manhandled them.
- 16:45Speaker 8: On the offensive line.
- 16:46Speaker 5: It was grown men against twenty two year old kids
- 16:49Speaker 5: on the left side, and I just worry that that's
- 16:53Speaker 5: what Lamu looks like too as a prospect coming out.
- 16:56Speaker 8: Now.
- 16:57Speaker 5: The positive side of that is that for fifth of
- 17:00Speaker 5: their offensive line is.
- 17:01Speaker 8: Elite, elite athletes.
- 17:03Speaker 5: You know, these guys, if they're gonna be more zone heavy,
- 17:06Speaker 5: if they're gonna want to get these guys out in
- 17:08Speaker 5: space and pull and do different things on the move,
- 17:11Speaker 5: move Drake may move the pocket like these guys have,
- 17:15Speaker 5: you know, high end athleticism to go and do that.
- 17:17Speaker 5: So maybe that's the style of offense that they're gonna play.
- 17:20Speaker 5: If you want to run downhill at a team and
- 17:23Speaker 5: be a smash mouth offense.
- 17:25Speaker 3: That's not these guys.
- 17:26Speaker 5: Yeah, Like, that's not gonna be Jared Wilson and kleb
- 17:29Speaker 5: Blom who's calling cards.
- 17:31Speaker 8: It's going to be that sort of thing.
- 17:33Speaker 13: You know.
- 17:33Speaker 5: The other thing that I looked at too is just
- 17:35Speaker 5: Mike gon Winn, who kind of sticks out like a
- 17:37Speaker 5: sore thumb right now, is like the guy that doesn't
- 17:39Speaker 5: fit that type of play, and you know what, he's
- 17:42Speaker 5: in the last year of his contract. He's an expensive
- 17:44Speaker 5: player right now. You know, they didn't go guard it
- 17:47Speaker 5: in the second round. I don't know if they will
- 17:48Speaker 5: in the third round. But just looking at that too,
- 17:51Speaker 5: like that's you have three, you know, great athletes, and
- 17:54Speaker 5: Elijah Vahtucker is a really good athlete too, and then
- 17:57Speaker 5: you have a three hundred and fifty pound road grading
- 17:59Speaker 5: right guard and it just like that doesn't fit with
- 18:03Speaker 5: the rest of the line.
- 18:04Speaker 8: So you know, what's his future look like too? I
- 18:06Speaker 8: think is interesting?
- 18:07Speaker 5: But you know, I I just wish that you know,
- 18:11Speaker 5: Mike Rabel said those things to us, and I think
- 18:14Speaker 5: he meant it, and then they just kind of pivoted.
- 18:16Speaker 3: Off of it.
- 18:16Speaker 6: Well, I mean, I think you're saying you're gonna have
- 18:19Speaker 6: some patience, and I mean I keep going back to
- 18:21Speaker 6: Nate Soulder, not just the player to player comp but
- 18:23Speaker 6: they selected him when they had two tackles and this is,
- 18:26Speaker 6: you know, a similar kind of thing, and all of
- 18:28Speaker 6: a sudden he's in there for Sebastian Volmer on the
- 18:30Speaker 6: right side right out of the gate, even though he
- 18:32Speaker 6: was destined to play on the left side.
- 18:34Speaker 1: You know, I don't.
- 18:34Speaker 6: Remember exactly having people feel the same kind of way,
- 18:38Speaker 6: because I think back then they were in that cycle
- 18:41Speaker 6: where we are ahead of the curb, we're drafting a
- 18:44Speaker 6: tackle ahead. We used to like that kind of stuff,
- 18:46Speaker 6: and now we're seeing it as they're not. It's not
- 18:48Speaker 6: gonna help soon enough. It's not going to be fast enough.
- 18:51Speaker 6: Drake May's still young, you know, Will Campbell's still young.
- 18:53Speaker 6: Caleb bl Loo who's only twenty one years old, he
- 18:55Speaker 6: seems like he should still be in high school.
- 18:57Speaker 1: He will get bigger, it might not be immediate.
- 18:59Speaker 6: I think that's a totally valid concern that if he's
- 19:01Speaker 6: thrust into playing this year, it might be a challenge.
- 19:04Speaker 6: But I'd much rather have him than the guy from
- 19:06Speaker 6: the Giants that they signed, you know, to be that
- 19:08Speaker 6: insurance swing tackle.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Had three straight you know what was a three straight?
- 19:12Speaker 5: Yeah, And I think that he's going to be a
- 19:13Speaker 5: good pass protector, and like there's little things with his technique.
- 19:17Speaker 5: You know, he opens his hips a little bit early.
- 19:19Speaker 5: Sometimes he drifts off the top of the pas set.
- 19:21Speaker 5: But like these types of things are are things that
- 19:23Speaker 5: are coachable and fixable. I'm not worried about any of
- 19:25Speaker 5: that type of stuff necessarily. You just want to you
- 19:29Speaker 5: hope that maybe he has a little bit more just
- 19:32Speaker 5: like urgency in his game than what he showed in college.
- 19:36Speaker 5: And maybe Mike Rabel is the right coach to be
- 19:39Speaker 5: like to light that fire. Like I remember Dante Scarnekia
- 19:42Speaker 5: telling me, you know, people's stories about like Trent Brown,
- 19:46Speaker 5: and he would just ride Trent Brown like all practice.
- 19:49Speaker 3: He would just be like, Trent's not surprising.
- 19:52Speaker 5: We gotta be you gotta play faster like we got you,
- 19:54Speaker 5: gotta play more aggressive.
- 19:56Speaker 8: We need more, we need more.
- 19:58Speaker 5: And they they had a relationship, you know, in twenty eighteen,
- 20:03Speaker 5: it all came together for him and it was a
- 20:05Speaker 5: big part of it.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Doug in Connecticut writes, And you could argue that if
- 20:08Speaker 1: they had Caleb Leamou last year, they would have shut
- 20:11Speaker 1: down Will Campbell for the year after the MCL tear.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Maybe an athlete like Lamoux could have held up better
- 20:17Speaker 1: than Will Campbell on one leg in the playoffs last season.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Oh maybe, yeah. I mean he's like, I don't again,
- 20:25Speaker 3: this is not my opinion because I don't evaluate these
- 20:28Speaker 3: guys on an NFL level. NFL people don't think he's
- 20:32Speaker 3: quite ready to play now. He would have been able
- 20:36Speaker 3: to do that last year. Yeah, I want to get Ooh,
- 20:39Speaker 3: I want to get.
- 20:40Speaker 1: The first pick of the third round is Carson Beck. Yeah, Arizona, Arizona.
- 20:45Speaker 5: You'd heard a lot of chatter of him going today.
- 20:48Speaker 5: Some people thought that he was going to go in
- 20:49Speaker 5: the second round. First pick of the third round, you know,
- 20:51Speaker 5: makes a lot of sense. He's one of those guys
- 20:54Speaker 5: that I feel like it just never came to fruition
- 20:57Speaker 5: for him in college. But he's comportment, but he's got
- 21:00Speaker 5: a lot of he might not. He's got a lot
- 21:02Speaker 5: of the measureables and the arm talent and sort of
- 21:05Speaker 5: if you just kind of like watched like his ten
- 21:08Speaker 5: best throws in college, you'd be like, Oh, this guy's
- 21:10Speaker 5: going to be a franchise quarterback. But then you start
- 21:13Speaker 5: to watch more and more and it kind of snowball.
- 21:15Speaker 5: I thought, you know, he was had some potential though
- 21:17Speaker 5: it was you know at Georgia, I thought he had
- 21:19Speaker 5: potential and he.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Was supposed to be the big thing. Now he played
- 21:23Speaker 3: great in the playoffs. He had some you know, the
- 21:25Speaker 3: Ole Miss game, he was terrific. I wanted to touch
- 21:29Speaker 3: base on the Nate Solder stuff for a couple of reasons.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Number one and this is I think, just to defend
- 21:36Speaker 3: Evan in myself. You were in the midst of, you know,
- 21:40Speaker 3: a steady stream of Super Bowl caliber rosters at the time,
- 21:44Speaker 3: so I think you had a luxury Nates Old. It
- 21:46Speaker 3: was also the second tackle taken in that draft, not
- 21:48Speaker 3: the seventh. I think most people thought he was ready
- 21:52Speaker 3: to play, but you know, if he had to wait,
- 21:55Speaker 3: he could wait. He had played some tight end if
- 21:58Speaker 3: I remember at Colorado, So I do think it's a
- 22:02Speaker 3: little different. I don't think that they viewed him as
- 22:04Speaker 3: strictly a red shirt player, which I think again this
- 22:11Speaker 3: but Morgan moses, part of this to me is worth
- 22:15Speaker 3: keeping an eye on because people continue to add that
- 22:18Speaker 3: he was asked about it again, you know, definitely, So
- 22:23Speaker 3: if he's not going to be part of the equation,
- 22:25Speaker 3: that changes my whole complexion of things. You need somebody,
- 22:28Speaker 3: whether the guy's or not. We have pictures of him here.
- 22:32Speaker 3: No I know E said it last night. He's been here.
- 22:35Speaker 3: He was asked about it. Again last night and he
- 22:37Speaker 3: said he's been here. Yeah, so I mean, all signs
- 22:40Speaker 3: certainly indicate that he's planning on playing. But if he doesn't,
- 22:44Speaker 3: you're going to be happy that you have a first
- 22:46Speaker 3: round tackle to at least potentially fill the void.
- 22:49Speaker 6: And even I mean I brought it up in the
- 22:51Speaker 6: earlier part of the show that they managed the hell
- 22:53Speaker 6: out of him last year. I mean in training camp,
- 22:56Speaker 6: it was like, Oh, he's just gonna he's just gonna
- 22:57Speaker 6: come off for team.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Period practiced Wednesday, you know. So that's the thing.
- 23:02Speaker 6: But it's also I think great for Lomu. He's gonna
- 23:04Speaker 6: get a bunch of reps. You know, early on, he's
- 23:06Speaker 6: going to be the starting right tackle a lot probably
- 23:09Speaker 6: through those some of those training camp practices. So hopefully
- 23:12Speaker 6: that gets him going and boosts his development right out
- 23:16Speaker 6: of the gate.
- 23:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I can't wait. I mean like that, the summer
- 23:19Speaker 5: is gonna be his time to shine. And you know,
- 23:21Speaker 5: they're they're gonna have opportunities, whether it's the Patriots against
- 23:26Speaker 5: the Patriots, joint practices, preseason games where he's gonna get
- 23:29Speaker 5: a lot of run and you know we're gonna be
- 23:32Speaker 5: able to see based off that you know, are some
- 23:35Speaker 5: of these criticisms of his game overblown? Maybe they are,
- 23:38Speaker 5: you know, maybe maybe, you know, maybe people got it wrong.
- 23:41Speaker 5: You know, some of the people that I talked to
- 23:43Speaker 5: you about him thought that he was actually more talented
- 23:46Speaker 5: than fine but he just didn't have that dog and
- 23:49Speaker 5: I'm quite like Fineau did, but he was actually a
- 23:52Speaker 5: more physically gifted and talented athlete than Spencer Fanou, who
- 23:56Speaker 5: went much higher than him in the first round. So
- 23:59Speaker 5: you know, he has you know, to some people, it's
- 24:01Speaker 5: again it's another flavor thing, but some people think he
- 24:04Speaker 5: has a tremendously high ceiling and might end up actually
- 24:07Speaker 5: being one of the better tackles.
- 24:08Speaker 6: Well, I saw that the the the PFF guys, Connor
- 24:11Speaker 6: Rogers and I'm blanking on the other guy's name, but
- 24:14Speaker 6: those two guys, they were very high on them. That's
- 24:16Speaker 6: a clip that was you know, going around. I'm not
- 24:18Speaker 6: gonna you know, sit there and bang the drum, but
- 24:20Speaker 6: they were, you know, saying they thought he he has
- 24:22Speaker 6: some of the best potential of all the tackles in
- 24:24Speaker 6: this class. So you know, we'll see how they develop him.
- 24:27Speaker 6: Doug Marome's got another.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Or with them. You know they they said that his
- 24:32Speaker 1: arrow was he's got point maybe the most potential.
- 24:35Speaker 5: Yeah, of all that you heard that a lot, and
- 24:38Speaker 5: then you heard I think this was one of those
- 24:41Speaker 5: and why I went to the Mike Brabel Elliott Wolf thing.
- 24:44Speaker 8: I think this is one of those that.
- 24:45Speaker 5: It's either a scout versus a coach, Like a scout
- 24:48Speaker 5: is going to look at him and see the ball
- 24:50Speaker 5: of clay and see the athleticism and the measure bols
- 24:53Speaker 5: and the pass protection film that he had at Utah
- 24:56Speaker 5: and say that this guy has immense potential a coach.
- 24:59Speaker 5: And you know, Nate Ticyst does a podcast every year
- 25:02Speaker 5: with his father, Mike Tyson, who coached in the league,
- 25:04Speaker 5: coached offensive line. They do the offensive Line Podcast together
- 25:08Speaker 5: and Mike Tyson said that he wrote next to Lomu's name,
- 25:12Speaker 5: desire question mark, you know, and it was questioning whether
- 25:16Speaker 5: or not you know, he had that.
- 25:17Speaker 1: I can imagine listening to an offensive line podcast on
- 25:22Speaker 1: the regular.
- 25:23Speaker 3: It was.
- 25:24Speaker 5: It was honestly fantastic podcast devoted to the offensive.
- 25:27Speaker 3: I mean, I think you know the answer that I
- 25:29Speaker 3: absolutely loved it. There. I was years old when I
- 25:36Speaker 3: think when I when I found out that Nate Tys
- 25:38Speaker 3: is Mike Tyson's son.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Did you just find that out too?
- 25:41Speaker 3: I was like, no, that makes sense. Yeah, he would
- 25:43Speaker 3: think there'll be two offensive line experts with the least.
- 25:46Speaker 5: It was quite literally an hour and a half of
- 25:48Speaker 5: like football porn. It was fantastic, and they ranked their tackles.
- 25:53Speaker 5: Nate had Caleb Blomo really high. I think he might
- 25:56Speaker 5: have had him as like the second or third best
- 25:57Speaker 5: tackle in the draft.
- 25:58Speaker 3: I don't think you're doing porn right.
- 26:00Speaker 5: His dad was a little bit lower on him because
- 26:02Speaker 5: he had He said, through the eyes of a coach,
- 26:05Speaker 5: you just worry about that dog.
- 26:07Speaker 3: You worry about that.
- 26:08Speaker 5: You know sort of you know, violent temperament, and you
- 26:11Speaker 5: know that way you want offensive lineman to play.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Well, can we think of a really great offensive tackle.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Let's say, who got by more in finesse than just
- 26:22Speaker 1: pure toughness.
- 26:25Speaker 4: Not I mean, I mean, I go back to Solder,
- 26:28Speaker 4: even though he's tall, but he's.
- 26:29Speaker 3: Just I mean, I don't know.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Let's also set the record straight and they sold her
- 26:34Speaker 1: he was a fine tackle, but it wasn't that good.
- 26:37Speaker 1: But but if that's onemost career, would you be happy
- 26:39Speaker 1: with that? Well?
- 26:40Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd be happy with that. I mean at twenty
- 26:42Speaker 5: eight overall, and you'd be happy with that. Uh you know,
- 26:45Speaker 5: like I.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Don't think, you know, I'd be okay with it.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Yeah, there's certainly guys that aren't like they're they're carrying trait.
- 26:53Speaker 8: Isn't that nastiness?
- 26:54Speaker 5: They all have a little bit of it, Like it's
- 26:56Speaker 5: Garrett Bowles, like do I do you guys? I don't
- 26:59Speaker 5: consider him like a nasty tackle. You know, he's not Penny.
- 27:02Speaker 1: So the guy that was known as a technician and
- 27:05Speaker 1: really became really good because he was a smart, technically
- 27:09Speaker 1: sound player.
- 27:10Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I don't study the other tackles in
- 27:13Speaker 6: the NFL close enough to probably make that, but I
- 27:16Speaker 6: just would say generally, And I don't like how you
- 27:18Speaker 6: said Finesse because that makes him sound like he's a
- 27:20Speaker 6: war Like I think it's athleticism and technique and you know,
- 27:23Speaker 6: does he win with smarts? Like I do think there's
- 27:25Speaker 6: a place for that. And again, not every single guy.
- 27:29Speaker 1: I wish I could be like this guy. I would
- 27:31Speaker 1: like him. Sure, I'm could give us the his podcast.
- 27:37Speaker 8: So Markel Bell just went to the Eagles.
- 27:40Speaker 5: So there that's the last tackle that went was Caleb Blomu,
- 27:44Speaker 5: And so we went from pick twenty eight to pick
- 27:48Speaker 5: sixty eight without a tackle being drafted, which is exactly
- 27:51Speaker 5: what we all kind of anticipated. And so that puts
- 27:54Speaker 5: into context why the Patriots did what they did last night,
- 27:57Speaker 5: because they were going to go forty picks without taking
- 27:59Speaker 5: a tack at that point.
- 28:01Speaker 3: I have no idea, as you know about all the
- 28:03Speaker 3: all the different offensive line, but I always kind of
- 28:05Speaker 3: thought that Gavor Bowles was one of those guys that
- 28:07Speaker 3: was kind of considered nasty. But I'll take you away.
- 28:11Speaker 6: Yeah, like the franchise of John Hannah. I mean there's
- 28:13Speaker 6: a certain I mean, Logan Mankins, there's a certain guard
- 28:16Speaker 6: be fair and I mean yeah, Patriots team Hall of
- 28:19Speaker 6: Famer Matt Light Paul was he was he one of
- 28:22Speaker 6: those guys.
- 28:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he uh, asked Logan. It was pretty pretty
- 28:28Speaker 3: cool seeing him punch it.
- 28:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll give you one because now you're challenging me
- 28:37Speaker 5: and I like it. Jake Matthews with Atlanta, would you
- 28:40Speaker 5: consider him to be I think he's a.
- 28:43Speaker 8: Pretty good player.
- 28:44Speaker 3: He's a good player, you know, and.
- 28:45Speaker 8: Has been for a very long time, great athlete.
- 28:48Speaker 5: I wouldn't consider him though to be like, he doesn't
- 28:51Speaker 5: like eat nails, right, Like, he's not that kind of guy.
- 28:55Speaker 5: So like our guys that, to your point, are great
- 28:58Speaker 5: pass blockers, great athletes, great technicians, you know those types
- 29:01Speaker 5: of players, maybe Matthews.
- 29:03Speaker 8: I think there's definitely a handful.
- 29:04Speaker 5: It definitely happens more at tackle than it does inside.
- 29:08Speaker 5: Like you know, you mentioned Logan Makin's and John Hannah,
- 29:10Speaker 5: those guys are both guards, right, Like, you don't really
- 29:13Speaker 5: see that happen too often with guards, Like this guy
- 29:15Speaker 5: is a great technician.
- 29:17Speaker 6: The Notre Dame kid, the guard that went to the Colts.
- 29:20Speaker 6: Ryan Shoot, I'm blanking out his name. Ulson kind of
- 29:27Speaker 6: a kind of a tough I was about to make
- 29:29Speaker 6: the opposite point, a very tough guy, you know, I
- 29:32Speaker 6: was about like I mean, that's why I was like
- 29:33Speaker 6: I was about to be like I kind of feel
- 29:35Speaker 6: like the inside the guards are usually the more you know,
- 29:37Speaker 6: the pulling guys who are going to be rolling over
- 29:39Speaker 6: guys and.
- 29:40Speaker 8: Historically speaking, your guards to be your physical.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Setting kind of well, they're leading the charge. Jacks are
- 29:47Speaker 3: dancing right out.
- 29:48Speaker 6: There on the nice you got the athleticism to get
- 29:50Speaker 6: them out in space.
- 29:51Speaker 3: And he can move.
- 29:52Speaker 6: And I'm sure you know Josh can employ that athleticism
- 29:55Speaker 6: in different ways.
- 29:56Speaker 3: But who's this cute kid inspire change? Oh?
- 30:00Speaker 1: Man, he's cute, Johnny writes in I was at the
- 30:04Speaker 1: draft party last night. I may have accidentally cussed when
- 30:07Speaker 1: I found out we traded up to go back to
- 30:09Speaker 1: back first round left tackles. However, Gabe freaking Accus is
- 30:14Speaker 1: an amazing pick. Now we just need to draft a
- 30:16Speaker 1: punter in the seven so we can get rid of
- 30:18Speaker 1: Bryce Barrenger and give the number seventeen to Gabe. Ps.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I know Alex isn't there, but she looked stunning yesterday.
- 30:26Speaker 1: All right.
- 30:28Speaker 6: I thought for a second that Alex picked up a
- 30:30Speaker 6: new boyfriend last night, but it actually was her real boyfriend.
- 30:32Speaker 3: They came with, and I know he had had on.
- 30:36Speaker 6: I didn't recognize him immediately, and I was like, oh,
- 30:39Speaker 6: who's a guy with Alex? I mean, I you know,
- 30:40Speaker 6: I'm joking, but it was Oh, Sam bear a bears, Well,
- 30:45Speaker 6: that's kind of nice with Coleston levelin, right, that's a
- 30:47Speaker 6: pretty good.
- 30:48Speaker 5: So Samrouch Eli Stower's Matt. Don't they still have cole Cometto?
- 30:53Speaker 5: And he was he a free agent. No, they still
- 30:55Speaker 5: have col Comett, Eli Stowers, Max Claire, Sam Roush now
- 31:00Speaker 5: off the board obviously, board kicker and Marlon Klein also
- 31:03Speaker 5: off the board.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Uh, so we're.
- 31:05Speaker 8: Looking at tight end, dope dope, Maybe Jack.
- 31:09Speaker 5: Injuries from Texas, who I really like. I don't think
- 31:11Speaker 5: they like Eli Reridan, but maybe Eli Reridon, probably not, Uh,
- 31:17Speaker 5: maybe Eli rerid In.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You know.
- 31:19Speaker 5: Then we get into friend's back of the envelope guys
- 31:21Speaker 5: like Tanner Cozy, stuff like that.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Just get to that, Fred, who are your back of
- 31:28Speaker 1: the envelope guys? Did you have back of the guys
- 31:31Speaker 1: on the show?
- 31:33Speaker 3: You just gone Draft week off?
- 31:36Speaker 1: Yeah, so I didn't do Edge, I said, I said
- 31:38Speaker 1: on the show, I'm gonna leave Edge to do a deuce.
- 31:42Speaker 1: So that's I had two wide receivers, both with red flags. Uh,
- 31:46Speaker 1: Kobe Young and Eric McAllister out a TCU. Then I
- 31:51Speaker 1: had two tight ends. I had Tanner Cozy, and then
- 31:55Speaker 1: I had Jack Velling, who's more Michigan State. He's more
- 31:57Speaker 1: of a special teams guy. I had two offensive, three
- 32:01Speaker 1: offensive tackles. Now, keep in mind, none of these guys
- 32:04Speaker 1: are top one hundred guys than anybody play I had.
- 32:08Speaker 1: I had Isaiah World from Oregon. I had Drew Bowery
- 32:12Speaker 1: from BC. And then a guy that I think the
- 32:15Speaker 1: Patriots are going to end up with probably late round,
- 32:18Speaker 1: Nolan Ruccio, Todd Ruccie's kid. Oh okay, you want to
- 32:22Speaker 1: talk nasty? Yeah, really, he's nasty. He's very nasty. Okay,
- 32:28Speaker 1: so nasty. I think we could get him. And then
- 32:30Speaker 1: I had one linebacker, Xavion Surrey Junior.
- 32:34Speaker 3: She's really pulling back of the envelope, guys, yep.
- 32:38Speaker 1: I wanted to make sure that I wasn't hitting on
- 32:40Speaker 1: guys that you know are pretty obvious.
- 32:44Speaker 8: You don't like Ramela, No, I love Ramelo. They're just
- 32:47Speaker 8: too good at it.
- 32:47Speaker 5: Like every time the forty nine ers are like the
- 32:50Speaker 5: Ravens of the Eagles make a pick, You're like, yeah, okay,
- 32:55Speaker 5: but you know we're we have seen some tight ends
- 32:58Speaker 5: go and I think we talked at the beginning of
- 33:00Speaker 5: the show about maybe going tight end at ninety five.
- 33:03Speaker 5: So we are kind of in that conversation now where
- 33:05Speaker 5: if they don't take a tight end, like we did
- 33:08Speaker 5: this with tackle, we're now doing it.
- 33:09Speaker 8: We did it at edge, now we're doing it at
- 33:11Speaker 8: tight end.
- 33:12Speaker 14: You know.
- 33:12Speaker 8: If they don't take.
- 33:12Speaker 5: A tight end, then we are going back of the envelope.
- 33:15Speaker 5: You know, I'm starting to go at those.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Take up break. I gotta go to the bath. You
- 33:18Speaker 1: from Brad two and a half hours. I gotta go.
- 33:21Speaker 1: But we'll be back. We're we might as well stick
- 33:24Speaker 1: to the end of the round, right at least well,
- 33:28Speaker 1: I mean, we want to get the picking.
- 33:29Speaker 5: You knew that was coming, Paul, Come on, we want
- 33:31Speaker 5: to get the pickets to give it up, right, you knew.
- 33:33Speaker 1: I mean they could trade up calling.
- 33:35Speaker 3: We're absolutely staying through the at better lext pick.

- 38:44Speaker 20: Welcome back to the twenty twenty six Patriots on Filtered
- 38:47Speaker 20: draft show, the new England Patriots slide presented by Toyota's
- 38:51Speaker 20: official website for deals by a toy dot Com.
- 38:56Speaker 1: All right, back here on Patriots Unfiltered eight five y five.
- 39:00Speaker 1: That's five hundred.
- 39:02Speaker 3: What do you think this is? That's Rick Schroeder? Do
- 39:04Speaker 3: you think okay, a little bit, Yeah, a little bit.
- 39:07Speaker 3: I can see it.
- 39:08Speaker 8: I can see it.
- 39:08Speaker 6: Thank you to a mar Singh for putting together a deuce.
- 39:10Speaker 6: Uh Ricky Schroeder two box.
- 39:13Speaker 8: So fred, I got a question for you.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Yeah, So, like this wrestling thing is going to pick
- 39:19Speaker 5: up Steve right everybody, it's gonna be like, all right,
- 39:24Speaker 5: what what do you like? What do you think like
- 39:26Speaker 5: translates so well from wrestling to football?
- 39:30Speaker 1: You know, I guess it depends on how good a
- 39:32Speaker 1: wrestler you actually work.
- 39:35Speaker 8: He was he was a state champion.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Yeah, he was really good.
- 39:38Speaker 1: So, I mean, you gotta you have to be an
- 39:43Speaker 1: incredible shape to be a good wrestler. The practices are brutal.
- 39:49Speaker 1: You know, it makes the matches like really easy. It's
- 39:54Speaker 1: hand to hand combat. It's all about leverage. It's about
- 39:57Speaker 1: feeling the other guy and and knowing like you know,
- 40:02Speaker 1: it's it's so isometric, like you're in constant Yeah.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Exhausting.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it's exhausting. And that's kind of the way it is.
- 40:10Speaker 1: You know once that was you know, the snap happens.
- 40:13Speaker 1: It's you're in constant movement with the guy and using
- 40:15Speaker 1: his way and feeling his leverage and and uh, you know,
- 40:19Speaker 1: both sides defense and offense. How did you get into wrestling?
- 40:22Speaker 3: Friend?
- 40:22Speaker 1: Did you just to get into in high school?
- 40:24Speaker 3: Like?
- 40:24Speaker 1: No, I was in college at Emerson. The wrestling coach
- 40:28Speaker 1: is a guy named Jim Peckham. He's actually in the
- 40:30Speaker 1: College Coaching Hall of Fame for wrestling, and he was
- 40:34Speaker 1: famous and you know he had this camp earning the
- 40:39Speaker 1: right to win. It was Jim Peckham wrestling Camp. He
- 40:42Speaker 1: was like he brought Killer Kowalski to one of our practices. Like,
- 40:48Speaker 1: this guy was legendary and he was also the A
- 40:50Speaker 1: D at Harvard at the same time. It was the
- 40:53Speaker 1: A D at at Emerson. But he was also working
- 40:56Speaker 1: at Harvard and then became the ad at at Harvard.
- 40:59Speaker 1: So like I always, I did wrestling in high school,
- 41:02Speaker 1: just like a gym, but I was good at it.
- 41:04Speaker 1: I said, you know what, I'm going to wrestle for
- 41:06Speaker 1: this guy. Yeah, and so I just it wasn't a
- 41:09Speaker 1: like a it was.
- 41:10Speaker 3: A like a club program.
- 41:12Speaker 1: So we wrestled against b U and Harvard and b
- 41:15Speaker 1: C Northeastern, but it didn't count for them. They just
- 41:20Speaker 1: did it because it was Jim Peckham. Like we go
- 41:23Speaker 1: to mess Maritime and Jim Peckham would give a clinic
- 41:26Speaker 1: to their their team before we That's not right, they're
- 41:30Speaker 1: giving them before we get we get to wrestle them.
- 41:33Speaker 6: So if we get Gaye Akis in here for an interview,
- 41:36Speaker 6: do you think the single, you can dust off the
- 41:37Speaker 6: single and talk to them, talk some wrestling with him or.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe I don't know what because it probably he
- 41:46Speaker 1: was a heavyweight obviously.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:47Speaker 5: I think what you said that the word leverage, and
- 41:51Speaker 5: like when you watch him play, he just has this
- 41:53Speaker 5: great ability to kind of contort his body and like
- 41:56Speaker 5: when tackles, you know, get his hands on their hands
- 41:59Speaker 5: on him. He's got this great ability to like wiggle
- 42:02Speaker 5: out of it, you know, and like kind of can
- 42:04Speaker 5: toward his body and get underneath and you know, pile
- 42:07Speaker 5: drive him back and like that sort of stuff, and
- 42:09Speaker 5: you can kind of see his body movements. How like
- 42:12Speaker 5: the wrestling background would help him with that kind of stuff.
- 42:15Speaker 1: You know, there's there's quickness involved. I mean, these guys,
- 42:18Speaker 1: the really good division IE wrestlers are incredibly quick.
- 42:22Speaker 3: I've been throwing it at my son.
- 42:23Speaker 6: My son's in eighth grade, but he's small, but he's
- 42:25Speaker 6: really athletic and he's you know, I just I think
- 42:28Speaker 6: it's a great sport. I just, you know, I have
- 42:30Speaker 6: such respect for anybody who's willing to just get on
- 42:33Speaker 6: the mat with another dude one on one.
- 42:34Speaker 1: And I mean, if you when collegiate wrestling, it's really
- 42:38Speaker 1: boring to watch, yeah, you know, because there's a lot
- 42:40Speaker 1: of just like clinches.
- 42:41Speaker 3: And I used to cover it for high school.
- 42:43Speaker 6: I used to do video for high school wrestling matches.
- 42:45Speaker 6: I just I just in my one of my friends
- 42:47Speaker 6: from high school, his son wrestling and he went very
- 42:49Speaker 6: far this year in the Massachusett States. But I think
- 42:51Speaker 6: it's so translates, especially playing along the line.
- 42:54Speaker 4: I mean it's yeah, it's everything, It's everything, you know.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Do you guys want to go from Gaye backkis?
- 42:59Speaker 1: Okay, let's do it.
- 43:01Speaker 3: There goes Delper.
- 43:03Speaker 8: Hey, Gabe, welcome to New England.
- 43:07Speaker 14: I'm curious to uh, I'm curious what sort of a
- 43:10Speaker 14: pre draft connections did you have with the Patriots?
- 43:13Speaker 8: Did you take a thirty visit? Did Mike pre will
- 43:15Speaker 8: come working out?
- 43:16Speaker 3: How did that? How did that all work out for you?
- 43:19Speaker 3: I'm sorry, can you guys give me?
- 43:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 43:24Speaker 10: Okay, yeah, so yeah, I got I had a thirty
- 43:27Speaker 10: visit with them. Oh, I'll say like two weeks ago
- 43:31Speaker 10: or we could go out. I forgot. It was my
- 43:34Speaker 10: last visit you know, of the month, and you know,
- 43:38Speaker 10: just fell in love with the coaching staff, especially coach
- 43:41Speaker 10: Mike Smith. I'll saw my coach there and just his
- 43:44Speaker 10: philosophy and his mindset on just the position. I just
- 43:48Speaker 10: loved it. And I knew like this team if they
- 43:51Speaker 10: if were to get me, it was gonna be the
- 43:53Speaker 10: right fit for me. So I'm just blessed, you know,
- 43:56Speaker 10: they gave me a chance and they came and got
- 43:58Speaker 10: me on when they did, so just bug loaded God
- 44:01Speaker 10: and I'm ready to start so as possible.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 44:06Speaker 21: Next question Alex Bob.
- 44:16Speaker 22: Yeah, sorry, I think I'm I was mute to talk
- 44:20Speaker 22: about that.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Congratulations man, welcome to New England.
- 44:23Speaker 10: Uh.
- 44:24Speaker 8: For Patriots fans are gonna be watching you for the
- 44:27Speaker 8: first time.
- 44:28Speaker 1: What can they expect? How would you describe your game?
- 44:31Speaker 10: Just play whatever is motor, very disruptive, very violent, someone
- 44:36Speaker 10: that's very dependable, someone's going to bring the energy that
- 44:38Speaker 10: used to the team, and something that's just all around
- 44:41Speaker 10: just all out motive player and someone that they can
- 44:44Speaker 10: just look forward to see play and that's the player.
- 44:48Speaker 10: That's the player that they can they can expect.
- 44:53Speaker 21: The next question, Taylor Kyles.
- 44:56Speaker 20: Gave congratulations man, welcome to New England. I'm really of course, Bro.
- 45:01Speaker 20: I'm curious with your wrestling background. How has that helped
- 45:03Speaker 20: you develop as an edge rusher and just set in
- 45:06Speaker 20: the edge in general in your hand use.
- 45:07Speaker 1: That's one of the things that really.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Pops out watching your tape.
- 45:10Speaker 10: Yeah, wrestler have a lot, you know, wrestled four years
- 45:13Speaker 10: in high school and just to say, like the ability
- 45:15Speaker 10: to you know, being low, having leverage, using your hand fighting,
- 45:20Speaker 10: those all keyed into football, you know, like, wrestling has
- 45:23Speaker 10: a lot of trade over in the football, especially with
- 45:26Speaker 10: hand fighting. Like, especially in this position on the edge, right,
- 45:29Speaker 10: you got to be able to use your hands effectively.
- 45:31Speaker 10: And that's one thing that I kind of carried over
- 45:33Speaker 10: the most of the wrestlings, being able to use my hands.
- 45:37Speaker 10: I'm efficiently and effectively. So no everyone knows me just
- 45:41Speaker 10: you know, as a football player, but you know, wrestling
- 45:43Speaker 10: had a big part in that as well. And I'm
- 45:45Speaker 10: just thankful again and grateful that I'm in this position
- 45:48Speaker 10: that I am and being with the Patriots.
- 45:51Speaker 3: Thank you again, man, enjoyed night.
- 45:53Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 45:55Speaker 21: Next question, Sophie Weller, I gave congratulations.
- 46:03Speaker 23: I'm just curious, what if anything about the Patriots when
- 46:06Speaker 23: you were on your visit stuck out to you, and
- 46:08Speaker 23: what's it like being drafted to this organization specifically, It's.
- 46:14Speaker 10: Honestly a blessing, you know. You know a lot of
- 46:16Speaker 10: people ask me, like, what was your favorite visit, and
- 46:19Speaker 10: the Patriots always popped up in my mind, and just
- 46:23Speaker 10: I felt like the structure and how they ran things.
- 46:25Speaker 10: Obviously they were in the Super Bowl last year, but
- 46:27Speaker 10: this I feel like a lot of the guys, a
- 46:29Speaker 10: lot of the players, you know, you know, believing you know,
- 46:33Speaker 10: the head coach and believe in who is as the person.
- 46:36Speaker 10: And I'm one person I could fall behind. And I
- 46:39Speaker 10: just love how you know, the coaching stuff and how
- 46:42Speaker 10: they treated me when I got there, and you know
- 46:45Speaker 10: they challenged me not only you know, physically, but mentally
- 46:49Speaker 10: you know, just the install like you know, I could
- 46:51Speaker 10: just tell like they really in their process really try
- 46:54Speaker 10: to make it hardest to you know, evaluate players, and
- 46:58Speaker 10: you know, I just love I just love the child
- 47:00Speaker 10: and I love how they you know, go about things
- 47:03Speaker 10: and who they are like as a team, their identity.
- 47:06Speaker 10: It's kind of my brand of football. Like I love
- 47:08Speaker 10: all the physicality and you know.
- 47:10Speaker 24: The.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Just how they just you know, how they are on
- 47:16Speaker 1: the defense.
- 47:16Speaker 10: You know, obviously they got good, good guys up front,
- 47:19Speaker 10: you know Christian because of all those guys, and just
- 47:21Speaker 10: looking forward to see him in the building and just
- 47:23Speaker 10: getting into everybody.
- 47:28Speaker 21: And next question Chris Ryan and I just ask if
- 47:31Speaker 21: anyone else has a question to please raise their hand.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Someone talking to having a little audio trouble down there.
- 47:59Speaker 1: But that's our first exposure. Talks some wrestling to Gabe Atkison,
- 48:03Speaker 1: Yes and wrestling came up, and he does credit a
- 48:06Speaker 1: lot of it to his success.
- 48:08Speaker 8: So you can see it.
- 48:10Speaker 5: You can see it the way that like we were
- 48:12Speaker 5: talking about earlier, just the way he moves his body
- 48:14Speaker 5: and I think gets out of compromise situations like yeah,
- 48:17Speaker 5: sometimes when he gets people get their hands on him,
- 48:21Speaker 5: but he's just got this ability to kind of wiggle
- 48:23Speaker 5: out of it.
- 48:23Speaker 8: And that you can see the wrestling, Yeah.
- 48:25Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's hard to describe, like the feeling
- 48:28Speaker 1: of wrestling when you're in a match and it's just
- 48:31Speaker 1: like constant tension that whole time. If you let up
- 48:35Speaker 1: for one second and the other guy's any good, you're cooked.
- 48:38Speaker 1: You're cooked. Yeah.
- 48:40Speaker 6: You know, do you remember your first time wrestling somebody
- 48:43Speaker 6: even just stepping on the mat, And.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Well, the first time I wrestled somebody like in a
- 48:47Speaker 1: wrestling match was eighth grade and the guy's name was
- 48:52Speaker 1: Mike Lawn. He ended up going up Northeastern. He was
- 48:55Speaker 1: a defensive end for Northeastern, so he in eighth grade,
- 48:59Speaker 1: he was sixth three. No, listen, I had just moved
- 49:03Speaker 1: to the Cave from New Jersey and we hated each other.
- 49:08Speaker 1: We hated each other, and he like he was threatening
- 49:10Speaker 1: to beat me up. And this guy is like huge, right,
- 49:14Speaker 1: and so the gym teacher, this guy, mister Chapman, he
- 49:18Speaker 1: broke it up and he said, all right, you guys
- 49:20Speaker 1: are going to wrestle tomorrow. And like so we wrestled,
- 49:24Speaker 1: and I held my own for a while by the way,
- 49:27Speaker 1: using the neck bridge to keep it. And then after that,
- 49:31Speaker 1: like we became kind of we became really good. You
- 49:33Speaker 1: respect each other.
- 49:34Speaker 3: It's a whole story. He came like we became.
- 49:37Speaker 1: No, we became best friends through high schools. So that
- 49:43Speaker 1: was my first wrestling match. But he was he way
- 49:45Speaker 1: bigger than you.
- 49:45Speaker 6: I mean he was he was six three, right, Because
- 49:48Speaker 6: they're like coach, usually there's a weight.
- 49:49Speaker 10: You know.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Yeah, there was no weight thing. Like I was probably
- 49:53Speaker 1: one forty or one one fifty, you know. I was
- 49:57Speaker 1: a stocky kid, but he was big and huge.
- 50:00Speaker 6: I had a friend who was a female in high
- 50:02Speaker 6: school who wrestled, and she was very small, and so
- 50:04Speaker 6: I always kind of felt bad because she was like
- 50:06Speaker 6: a senior and she'd always end up, because of her weight,
- 50:09Speaker 6: end up wrestling some poor like one hundred pound freshman,
- 50:11Speaker 6: you know. And so some poor freshman walks up there
- 50:14Speaker 6: all awkward old boy, and she go out there, you know,
- 50:16Speaker 6: get him pinned quick.
- 50:17Speaker 4: I felt bad for him, but there's a plenty of
- 50:20Speaker 4: girl wrestlers out.
- 50:20Speaker 1: Oh I had better. I in college. I had better
- 50:25Speaker 1: success over the bigger guys than the smaller guys. Yeah. Like,
- 50:29Speaker 1: I wrestled this one guy from bu who I was
- 50:32Speaker 1: probably one sixty eight. He was probably one sixty two
- 50:37Speaker 1: and small but quick, wiry man like, he was tough.
- 50:42Speaker 1: He was tough. Good wrestling talk here, who's that?
- 50:47Speaker 3: That's one of the first pulls. I don't even know
- 50:49Speaker 3: if I I've heard that name before.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Caleb Douglas.
- 50:52Speaker 5: I watched twenty six wide receivers and that was not
- 50:56Speaker 5: one of them. Yeah, and hopefully it's not going to
- 50:58Speaker 5: haunt us the Dolphins here seventy five overall too. Like,
- 51:01Speaker 5: that's not a small commitment for a player. I mean
- 51:04Speaker 5: that's a way inside the top one hundred.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's interesting.
- 51:08Speaker 5: That's some weird ones like the board, like Marlin Klein
- 51:12Speaker 5: like went super early, Boar Kicker went super early, Caleb
- 51:16Speaker 5: Douglass going super early.
- 51:17Speaker 6: Well, that's what I was going to bring up because
- 51:18Speaker 6: with Oscar Delp going the three tight ends that I
- 51:22Speaker 6: kind of liked and targeted that they're all gone now
- 51:25Speaker 6: with rausch delp and Claire. Those were my three favorite
- 51:29Speaker 6: and now and I think Rabel hinted at a little
- 51:32Speaker 6: bit when he talked about the depth in this class.
- 51:35Speaker 4: I said it at the top, I think this might
- 51:38Speaker 4: be an early Day.
- 51:39Speaker 6: Three kind of proposition now where you are relying on
- 51:42Speaker 6: Hunter Henry and Julian Hill and you're gonna maybe get
- 51:44Speaker 6: more of a developmental guy, not a guy who's gonna
- 51:47Speaker 6: come in and instantly come in as that flex tight
- 51:50Speaker 6: end that you can kind of play with a little bit.
- 51:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I really like Jack Injuries from Texas.
- 51:55Speaker 5: I mean he's probably the last one. You know, other
- 51:57Speaker 5: people really like rare it In from Notre Dame. You know,
- 52:00Speaker 5: he's in that category. I thought, maybe like late third,
- 52:03Speaker 5: early fourth round pick, there's still a couple of those
- 52:06Speaker 5: tight ends and then you know, I keep bringing up
- 52:08Speaker 5: like the Cozeals and the Triggs and the Jolly's and
- 52:11Speaker 5: those guys later, but Dane had the receiver of the Dolphins.
- 52:15Speaker 5: Just took Caleb Douglas as wide receiver thirty one, a
- 52:20Speaker 5: sixth or seventh round pick and they just took him
- 52:22Speaker 5: at seventy five. Wow, So that we're in a weird area,
- 52:28Speaker 5: I think with this draft where everybody's kind of it's
- 52:31Speaker 5: a wild wild West right now.
- 52:32Speaker 1: So I wonder, like there must be somebody who knows
- 52:36Speaker 1: the answer to this, the success stories of teams that
- 52:41Speaker 1: seemingly reached for a guy and they were just absolutely
- 52:45Speaker 1: right about it.
- 52:46Speaker 5: So actually wide left, I can't remember who Ralf Hassen
- 52:52Speaker 5: I think is his name.
- 52:53Speaker 8: He does a consensus.
- 52:54Speaker 5: Board every year which takes like all of the top
- 52:58Speaker 5: draft analysts there final big boards, and he puts it
- 53:02Speaker 5: all in in a calculator and figures out what the
- 53:05Speaker 5: consensus ranking is for every single player. And even though
- 53:09Speaker 5: it's not a perfect hit rate, most of the time,
- 53:11Speaker 5: being consistent with consensus rankings, it actually pans out better.
- 53:17Speaker 5: You know, the teams that draft the closest the consensus
- 53:20Speaker 5: are the ones that draft.
- 53:21Speaker 1: The best, but not always Like, but I'd like to
- 53:25Speaker 1: know who are those guys that this guy was projected
- 53:29Speaker 1: in the sixth round, this team drafted him in the
- 53:31Speaker 1: third round, or you know, maybe and they were spot on.
- 53:35Speaker 1: You know, like, good question. There must be a list
- 53:37Speaker 1: of those yeah somewhere.
- 53:39Speaker 3: The all time reach list.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Right right, But they knew it wasn't a reach. They
- 53:45Speaker 1: knew that, you.
- 53:46Speaker 6: Know, Yeah, this is I mean, this is. There's been
- 53:49Speaker 6: a couple that, but nothing this is. This has been
- 53:51Speaker 6: the biggest one so far.
- 53:52Speaker 8: They yeah, I can't.
- 53:54Speaker 5: I can't think of to be honest with you, I
- 53:56Speaker 5: can't think of a lot of reaches that the team
- 53:59Speaker 5: was right because most of the time we just joke
- 54:01Speaker 5: about the ones that the team was wrong. So I
- 54:04Speaker 5: can't really think of a ton of one.
- 54:06Speaker 3: I was trying to think of that too. I can't
- 54:08Speaker 3: really think of one. This is an interesting pick for
- 54:11Speaker 3: Pittsburgh here with Drew Aller. You know, I think most
- 54:13Speaker 3: people think Aaron Rodgers is coming back for another one.
- 54:17Speaker 3: They keep just putting like these sort of mid third
- 54:21Speaker 3: round picks and the pipeline and seeing if one of
- 54:23Speaker 3: them sticks.
- 54:24Speaker 4: The Ohio State kid, was that the one that had
- 54:26Speaker 4: last year?
- 54:27Speaker 3: Is that who?
- 54:27Speaker 6: They?
- 54:28Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 54:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I Drew Aller two years ago, Drew Hour
- 54:35Speaker 5: two years ago, you know, had a great college football
- 54:37Speaker 5: season for Penn State. They went to the College Football Playoff.
- 54:40Speaker 5: And he's got size, he's got arm, talent. You know,
- 54:43Speaker 5: he's got that out of structure playmaking that people look for.
- 54:46Speaker 5: A lot of people thought that he was going to be,
- 54:48Speaker 5: you know, a first round pick potentially, and he just
- 54:51Speaker 5: didn't have the season, uh that you know, he wanted
- 54:53Speaker 5: to have last year. They lost some talent in the NFL,
- 54:56Speaker 5: you know, the whole story. But I think he's got
- 54:59Speaker 5: some ability. And he got hurt this year too.
- 55:01Speaker 3: I mean, I know he didn't play well before he
- 55:03Speaker 3: got hurt, but you know that's that's put a damper
- 55:06Speaker 3: on his season. I didn't love him even last year
- 55:09Speaker 3: he was getting because there was talk that he was
- 55:12Speaker 3: going to leave early and be a first round pick,
- 55:14Speaker 3: even just nailed it. I just I don't. I don't
- 55:17Speaker 3: love him. I just I never thought the production match
- 55:20Speaker 3: the skill that you see. That's totally fair.
- 55:22Speaker 5: He's wildly inconsistent, Like he like he'll make a throw
- 55:26Speaker 5: that's like Josh Allen esk and then he'll he'll make
- 55:29Speaker 5: a really ugly play.
- 55:30Speaker 6: I mean, it's it's like they're I'm not saying they're
- 55:32Speaker 6: trying to prove you wrong, Paul, but it's.
- 55:34Speaker 4: You know, talking about the quarterbacks. You got to take
- 55:36Speaker 4: him in the first round.
- 55:37Speaker 6: They seem content now or I don't know if they're
- 55:39Speaker 6: content with it, but just taking shots on mid round
- 55:41Speaker 6: guys and hoping that one of these guys they've captured
- 55:44Speaker 6: Matt Lightning in a bottle.
- 55:46Speaker 1: Lots of phone calls coming in. Will go to Tony
- 55:49Speaker 1: in Iowa, who's been holding on?
- 55:50Speaker 3: What's up?
- 55:50Speaker 1: Tony? He's been holding on and he gave up. How
- 55:57Speaker 1: about where should we go? Let's go to Butcher in Dorchester.
- 56:01Speaker 1: What's up? Butch?
- 56:03Speaker 25: Guys wanted to talk about. What do you think they
- 56:06Speaker 25: do a ninety five?
- 56:07Speaker 9: Now?
- 56:07Speaker 25: You know, tight end seems to be moving on. Totally
- 56:10Speaker 25: agree with you that. I think the day one impact
- 56:13Speaker 25: the guys are gone, they're gonna have to go with
- 56:15Speaker 25: more of a project, whether that's Trig or jillen Berg
- 56:18Speaker 25: or I actually really like the Syracuse kid. I think
- 56:21Speaker 25: it's Valari. But I think there's stuff that available there
- 56:25Speaker 25: on the tight end market for the joke who's still
- 56:29Speaker 25: available as a free agent. And I mean the Bears
- 56:31Speaker 25: I think are going to have to move comet now
- 56:33Speaker 25: with just drafting another tight end and having Loveland. So
- 56:37Speaker 25: where does that leave us at ninety five? You know,
- 56:40Speaker 25: the linebackers, they met with. I feel like our Day
- 56:43Speaker 25: three guys run stuffing those tackle. I feel like you
- 56:47Speaker 25: can get on day three. I think it's going to
- 56:49Speaker 25: be a safety. I'm leaning towards Ramsey from USC or
- 56:53Speaker 25: Wheatly from Penn State. But what do you guys think?
- 56:55Speaker 3: Yeah, they a lot of good calls.
- 56:57Speaker 5: Yeah they met with Wheatley. Know they brought him in
- 57:00Speaker 5: for a thirty visit. That's a possibility. You know, there
- 57:04Speaker 5: are still some receivers. You know, obviously we talked about
- 57:07Speaker 5: a J. Brown at nauseum, Like I maybe they are
- 57:10Speaker 5: not thinking they need to draft the receiver. But you know,
- 57:12Speaker 5: Paul you brought up you know, do you draft Chris
- 57:16Speaker 5: Bell knowing you're gonna get a J. Brown, knowing that
- 57:18Speaker 5: he doesn't have to play?
- 57:19Speaker 3: You know, it's not at that point.
- 57:21Speaker 5: You know, Chris Brasil obviously still there, Ted Hurst, Bryce
- 57:25Speaker 5: Lance like players like that are all still there. So
- 57:27Speaker 5: maybe even though you wanted to do the tight end thing,
- 57:30Speaker 5: it makes more sense to if you're going to try
- 57:32Speaker 5: to target a pass catcher, uh to go with one
- 57:34Speaker 5: of the wide receivers instead. I would say I still
- 57:37Speaker 5: think guard is a spot that they want to hit
- 57:40Speaker 5: at some point. Now maybe they feel like if Elijah
- 57:43Speaker 5: Vera Tucker gets hurt, that Lomu can play guard.
- 57:46Speaker 8: You know, that's what Elliott kind of hinted at.
- 57:48Speaker 4: Pregnant still out there.
- 57:49Speaker 8: Yeah, pregnant is still out there.
- 57:52Speaker 5: You know, there's some guards I think in this range
- 57:55Speaker 5: of the draft that you know, would maybe be interesting.
- 57:58Speaker 5: You know, Farmer, you know, and as Cooper, Jeremiah Wright,
- 58:02Speaker 5: you know, guys like that. So I wouldn't rule that
- 58:04Speaker 5: one out either. But you know, they said linebacker. He
- 58:08Speaker 5: felt like Elliot Wolf said in his pre draft press
- 58:10Speaker 5: conference that they'd hit that on Day three, but they've
- 58:13Speaker 5: traded some of their Day three picks, so you know,
- 58:15Speaker 5: does that end up becoming a pick at ninety five instead?
- 58:19Speaker 4: I like the guard thing, that might be the wild
- 58:20Speaker 4: car position.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Yeah, Marxston, Connecticut, what's up, Mark?
- 58:25Speaker 12: Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call. Are you guys
- 58:27Speaker 12: surprised of the run of the tight end in the
- 58:31Speaker 12: back of the second round where we thought a lot
- 58:34Speaker 12: of these guys, I think we're going to go in
- 58:35Speaker 12: the third and fourth round and they're just they're just
- 58:38Speaker 12: was a run of them, and then at the top
- 58:40Speaker 12: of the third and now we're we're left with nobody.
- 58:44Speaker 6: I'd say a little bit, but I kind of felt
- 58:46Speaker 6: like this is what would happen. You know, it's it's
- 58:48Speaker 6: the late second kind of in the doughnut, as we say,
- 58:51Speaker 6: in between that pick, especially when they traded up. You know,
- 58:53Speaker 6: when they traded up, then you knew, well, now it's
- 58:55Speaker 6: an even bigger gap between the next those two like
- 58:58Speaker 6: will get your in kind of they went, which was
- 59:02Speaker 6: a weird way. It started all of a sudden, they
- 59:03Speaker 6: went with what eight and ten?
- 59:05Speaker 5: And yeah, I mean I'm not shocked at Dope win
- 59:08Speaker 5: at seventy three. Yeah, that feels right about where you
- 59:12Speaker 5: know his the beginning for him. Sam Rousch had sixty nine.
- 59:15Speaker 5: Doesn't feel that high.
- 59:17Speaker 1: But they can't really get up to this point right now.
- 59:19Speaker 3: I mean, I think they'd have to leverage.
- 59:20Speaker 5: I mean we said Sam, you know, we both had
- 59:23Speaker 5: Sam Rousch and delp at ninety five. Uh, it is
- 59:27Speaker 5: still the third round, right, so you know they went
- 59:30Speaker 5: at the top of the third round and said the
- 59:31Speaker 5: end of the third round. So I guess maybe you
- 59:33Speaker 5: could say that that that was a little bit higher.
- 59:37Speaker 5: I like Jack Injuries. I like him as a player.
- 59:39Speaker 8: I thought he was well rounded.
- 59:41Speaker 5: I thought he could catch the ball, make some plays
- 59:44Speaker 5: in the passing game as well, and hold his own
- 59:46Speaker 5: as a blocker. You know, I kind of liked him
- 59:48Speaker 5: as like if they didn't get Max Claire, Like he
- 59:51Speaker 5: was kind of like, you know, the if Max Clayer
- 59:53Speaker 5: went in the second round, then you know, Jack Injuries
- 59:56Speaker 5: was going to be like the late third, early fourth
- 59:58Speaker 5: version five. Yeah, maybe at ninety five. I mean there's
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: been a lot of tight ends, you know, they a
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: lot of these guys have been drafted.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: So, uh, one.
- 1:00:07Speaker 12: Last thing, Evan the sleeper tight end in this draft.
- 1:00:12Speaker 12: I heard, uh, bower Sharp. What do you have to
- 1:00:16Speaker 12: think of him?
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that Bower Sharp is going to be
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: you know, I think at least a late round pick.
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: I didn't really you know, like him too much, to
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: be honest with you. You know, I was more of Li
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: Liken to the the Carson Ryan's of the world.
- 1:00:29Speaker 8: I loved Marlon Klein and so apparently, you know, so.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: Did everybody else.
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: So you know, I thought he was going to be
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: a Day three pick. And you know that's not true
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: from s m U.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: He's a good player. I wasn't too.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Justin and DJ are in New Hampshire. We have a
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: what was that? They're gone? Okay, she's a father and son,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: father and son. I guess the son had to go
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: to bed. Is that what happened? I don't know.
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: That would have been nice, mighty nice.
- 1:01:01Speaker 8: Maybe they're call him back.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: Perhaps, let's see this is kayleb. He says, I love
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: the draft so far, A plus. I'm hoping we go
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: for linebacker of safety necks. I'm also thinking we're going
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: to trade Booty tomorrow. What are your thoughts?
- 1:01:23Speaker 6: I don't know, I don't. I mean, I just I
- 1:01:25Speaker 6: see a need for Booty. And even if you have
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: A J. Brown, I'd still like to hang on to
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: these guys. I don't want to turn away someone who
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: has been a proven performer in this system.
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: Would you trade him for Well, at that point, it
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: seems more you know what it was worth trading Well,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: it's got.
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: To be a player, it's got to and maybe he
- 1:01:42Speaker 6: ends up being part of the A. J.
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: Brown deal.
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: That makes more sense to me than tomorrow to what
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: trade him for like a six or seven?
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: Seething less or less that the Eagles need another wide.
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: Ree right and they probably don't even need them, so
- 1:01:52Speaker 6: what do you what are you going to get tomorrow?
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: Like Mike, I would I'd rather keep the player because
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: if you're trading him tomorrow, you're getting the late round pick,
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: and I think i'd rather have Booty.
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: I mean maybe if you tell me that you could
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: get a fourth rounder, that feels a little rich for me.
- 1:02:06Speaker 3: But yeah, maybe I could be talking to recoup one
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: of the fourth rounders that you that you know still
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: that but app a little bit like I could. I
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: don't see it. I just don't see him getting a
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: fourth round give up.
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: For you know, a guy who had what like thirty
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: caps so.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: The culture favorite.
- 1:02:23Speaker 5: Yeah, Georgia took Zachariah Branch from Georgia. I know that
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: there's been a lot of chat, I mean, going back
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: to last offic he'son a lot of chatter about Booty.
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: But has there been a lot of chatter specifically of
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: them trying to move him this weekend?
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: Yeah? Well, I mean like I haven't necessarily heard this weekend,
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: but there's been a lot of chattering generally the last
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: week a week and a half with him. Yeah.
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: Absolutely, But I just feel like, I don't know, I
- 1:02:46Speaker 5: feel like that's like a I got a hot take, and.
- 1:02:49Speaker 8: I like, they're gonna move Booty, you know, like I
- 1:02:51Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: I just I haven't heard anything that would indicate that
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: they would move him in the next twenty four hours.
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: I mean, I've not heard anything like imminent. But I
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: have heard his name a lot in absolutely trade trade discussions.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: Grant and Iowa one guy that comes to mind immediately
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: as the reach but kind of worked out for us
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: as Juwant Bentley. We took him in the fifth round
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: that I remember Paul and he didn't really know who
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: he was, and he had undrafted projections, not a third
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: round reach like the Dolphins, but as close as I
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: can think of.
- 1:03:20Speaker 8: I mean, he's drafted in the fifth round.
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: Right right, Yeahah, I don't think that necessarily qualifies.
- 1:03:25Speaker 8: Yeah, Like we're talking probably top one hundred guy that.
- 1:03:29Speaker 4: And I think I'm losing my mind case, but I
- 1:03:30Speaker 4: did not that the email is right.
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: I didn't know much about Jawan Bentley when I traded
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: Texas Tech. Was he is he?
- 1:03:36Speaker 6: Like, I feel like I scouted this kid, I got
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: notes on him as a tight end, and I'm like,
- 1:03:40Speaker 6: I can't He's a Day three guy and I can't
- 1:03:42Speaker 6: find him anywhere in the draft.
- 1:03:43Speaker 8: Did I look at a guy from next year? Is
- 1:03:45Speaker 8: not familiar?
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Od, I'm looking through these.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: Also, that caller mentioned a tight end from Syracuse, and
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: I and that's like somebody transferred from Syracuse. I don't
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: know if there's a tight end from Syracuse in this draft. Oh,
- 1:03:55Speaker 5: I guess, yeah, there is. He's a UDFA prospect tight
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: end thirty one in the Beast You I didn't.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:04:01Speaker 13: I heard.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: I'm losing my mind.
- 1:04:03Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, John Wrights, And based on the discussion about
- 1:04:08Speaker 13: Lomu on your show, it sounds like increasing his strength
- 1:04:11Speaker 13: is a key area for development.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Since individuals vary in their potential to build muscle, are
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: there specific traits or indicator evaluators you can look forward
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: to assess whether he's capable of reaching the necessary strength level.
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean he's got the frame for it, you know.
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: I mean it's I mean, that's one big thing that
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: everybody you know talks about. I thought it was interesting
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: that when you look at the pure numbers, he's almost
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: the same size as Will Campbell.
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: Like they're like, we Will Campbell's.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: A little heavier.
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: Will Campbell needs to add strength. Yeah, they both too.
- 1:04:40Speaker 6: It's just interesting though, because it's arranged differently and he
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: you know, and his arms aren't super long, but they
- 1:04:47Speaker 6: are over the thirty three inch you know, thirty thresholds threshold.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: And he has a much longer wingspan than Will Campbell too,
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: which was the big, other, big thing with Will camp.
- 1:04:58Speaker 6: It's just funny how you can look at the RAS
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: comparison and you see their height basically the same and
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: their weight. Will Campbell's a little heavier, but everything else is,
- 1:05:06Speaker 6: you know, pretty much the same, and especially the athleticism.
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: Both highly highly athletic guys.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: So you know, we'll see by.
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: He's twenty one years old, I mean anybody who's played
- 1:05:15Speaker 6: college sports. I mean that's I mean she's now in college.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: That's like really young for college. Guy's really twenty five.
- 1:05:20Speaker 6: But yeah, you know, that's an age where he's still
- 1:05:23Speaker 6: going to grow, no question about it. And I think
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: that's what the appeal is. And I think Evan's kind
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: of said this that people like him where he is
- 1:05:30Speaker 6: right now. It's just a question of where do you
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: think his ceiling is. Is he going to be held
- 1:05:34Speaker 6: back by play temperament and not really be able to
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: you know, get that strength, get to that level, because
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: if he is, I think then you're really talking about
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: maybe a really good player.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: Oh, Justin and DJ writes in you were one hundred
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: percent correct. It was father and son and the little
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: man had to go to bed. Sorry, buddy, we're just
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: trying to hear his voice on TV. But I'll tell
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: you it was cool because Dave Atkins was sounding right
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: through our phone. It sounded like we were talking to him.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: He was so excited by that. I'm pretty excited. I
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: think he meant Gabe Akis. Yeah, I'm pretty excited about
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: the guys we picked so far. I think Loumo can
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: hopefully fill in a pinch if we need him, but
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: if not, I think he's got some good people behind
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: him to learn from. I don't like that we traded
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: up to get him, but I think it was necessary,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: and from here Ocus is very excited about him. He
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: seems like the exact right type of person we need
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: on the edge. Hopefully we can get maybe the tight
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: end raydun Eli Raidan from Notre Dame, and maybe a
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: safety that's not really a mask.
- 1:06:40Speaker 8: Yeah, I.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Jacobe Lane to the Ravens.
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: I mean we saw forty picks go by until the
- 1:06:48Speaker 5: next tackle was taken. Markl Bell Is taken at sixty eight,
- 1:06:51Speaker 5: so the Patriots took do the math Lomu at twenty eight,
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: and then the next one didn't go until sixty eight.
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: So if they hadn't done it last night, you know,
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: this is what we talked about, Like if they hadn't
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: done it last night, then they weren't going to do it,
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: Like it wasn't going to happen. I think what we're seeing,
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: you know, in general, because I've seen some chatter about
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: this on Twitter, like they got the last tackle, they
- 1:07:11Speaker 5: got the last edge rusher, they might get the last
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: tight end, and it's like, yeah, they were picking last.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: They were picking thirty first in the round, like if
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: they you know, obviously they were going to be at
- 1:07:22Speaker 5: the end of these runs because they were picking in
- 1:07:25Speaker 5: the last pick of the round. And honestly, you know,
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: it's another thing that Bart and I talked about in
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: I ride home last night. We are not very used
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: to that recently, Like they've been picking at the top
- 1:07:36Speaker 5: of the round, So they've been getting the top of
- 1:07:38Speaker 5: the run at all these different positions over the last
- 1:07:41Speaker 5: two drafts and then this draft you know, they're in
- 1:07:43Speaker 5: a different spot, so you know, it's not that surprising
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: that they, you know, got the seventh of seven tackles
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: when I there was seven first round tackles and they
- 1:07:51Speaker 5: were picking thirty first in.
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: The first And how often does it happen that the
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: seven tackles that were taken in order, that's the order
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: of the success of their career or one through seven.
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: I mean, it's going to be totally random. Just because
- 1:08:04Speaker 6: Dane Brugler has this guy at seven and this guy
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: at eight.
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: You know, no disrespect, he does a great job.
- 1:08:08Speaker 6: But this is all in the eye of the beholder
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: and what fits you and who's going to come into
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: your program, you know, be able to blossom. It's just
- 1:08:15Speaker 6: always trying to project somebody a young person coming into
- 1:08:17Speaker 6: being a professional in any job, that there's a projection.
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: You don't know what other things this kid's got going on,
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: what's going to make them successful or not.
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: You know, there's a lot of factors that determine these things.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: What I always look at with these what I always
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: look at with these guys though, like they like they
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: do all the rankings, and I don't try to get
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: too fixated and like, oh, they took the sixth one
- 1:08:38Speaker 3: when the when the fifth one was still there or
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: something like that. But you know, I do think back
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: to like sort of the the last part of the
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: Belichick regime, when you know you're taking guys in the
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: second round that most of these guys had projected to
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: be fifth round bikes, right, you know, like then Wilson's
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: and the Jordan Richards and you know those kinds of guys,
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: and almost none of them were.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: It's not like now that goes back to Fred's thing,
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: which one's work, not those one's work, right, And.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: They did a lot of them, and they had a
- 1:09:06Speaker 3: lot of guys that weren't just picked like ten picks before.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: You know, a lot of people haven't. We're talking about
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: four rounds, you know, earlier, and those second round selections
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: one after another, Like those are the ones that I
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: fall back on. The brouglers. Yeah, Like Broogla had him
- 1:09:23Speaker 3: as like his fiftieth prospect and you took him tenth.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: Like that's no good. Yeah.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: I mean the one guy in recent memory that comes
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: to mind was Craig Woodson. Like, you know, I think
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: Craig Woodson last year people thought he was going to
- 1:09:35Speaker 5: be the middle to end of Day three. The Patriots
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: drafted him in the fourth round. He's one of their
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: best players in the Super Bowl, really the best, one
- 1:09:42Speaker 5: of their best players their entire playoff run.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: I thought he was tremendous in the playoffs.
- 1:09:45Speaker 8: Yeah, so you know, maybe they got that one right.
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: That was a good, good scouting by the Patriots and
- 1:09:50Speaker 5: they got that one right. But you know, like I
- 1:09:52Speaker 5: said earlier, most of the time, the consensus, Uh, there's
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: a reason. And if you know, five hundred people are
- 1:09:58Speaker 5: looking at these guys, and five hundred people come to
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: the same consensus on the prospect, Like.
- 1:10:03Speaker 8: It's just you know, it's just math.
- 1:10:04Speaker 5: That does then more eyes and more you know, feel
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: for the player. But you know, I don't know, it
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: doesn't always work out that way. It certainly doesn't always
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: work out that Caleb Blomo was drafted seventh, so he's
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: going to be the seventh best guy like that?
- 1:10:19Speaker 8: That definitely doesn't happen.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: Also, let's see David writes and why aren't people discussing
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Pop Douglas as a trade candidate as opposed to Booty?
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Do they have plans to integrate him into the offense
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: more I just think Booty has proven to be a
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: capable receiver. It Pop really hasn't provided much. Also, please
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: Matt do that voice in the next transition again. I
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: found it amusing.
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: I kind of did too well.
- 1:10:43Speaker 6: I mean, Booty has some value because he's made some
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: plays and you can say that some team might want
- 1:10:47Speaker 6: and Pop Douglas has been really inconsistent. I mean he's
- 1:10:49Speaker 6: had some flashes in some moments, but value, What are
- 1:10:52Speaker 6: you going to give up for a guy like that?
- 1:10:54Speaker 6: It's just I mean that's you know, maybe you're getting
- 1:10:56Speaker 6: a conditional six or seven round pick if you're lucky.
- 1:10:59Speaker 3: That's all.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: One of those guys is getting Yeah.
- 1:11:01Speaker 6: So, and that's why look and we all, you know,
- 1:11:04Speaker 6: the wide receiver topic comes up all the time. I'm
- 1:11:06Speaker 6: not in the business of just casting guys off. Like
- 1:11:09Speaker 6: even if you think Antonio Brown, I keep doing it
- 1:11:11Speaker 6: AJ Brown. I can't stop. Even if AJ Brown arrives here.
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: I mean, what happens if he gets hurt? You know,
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: like you're gonna need some depth there, You're gonna need
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: support for Drake may So.
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: I just I it's like we're the last couple of years.
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: I feel like this has happened, and not because it's
- 1:11:25Speaker 6: just oh, they're loaded at wide receiver. They've had a
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: bunch of guys that are all kind of middling. It's
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: hard to separate them out. So now you know, let
- 1:11:33Speaker 6: them battling camp again. See how it all you know
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: comes out. We had Juju was here and Jalen Polk
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: was here, and Javon Baker was here, and you know,
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: those guys didn't do the job.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: So they're gone do.
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: The same thing this year, but with the guys like
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: I have a question for you guys, how many how
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: many catches you think Kaysham Boudi had last year?
- 1:11:51Speaker 8: Thirty thirty?
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: How many catches do you think Tomorroo Douglas had last year?
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: If I told you they had both had forty six,
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: would you be so prize? Yeah, well they both had
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: forty six targets. Thirty three catches for Booty, thirty one
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: for Douglas.
- 1:12:07Speaker 8: Yeah, but the yards were I mean, this is your thing.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: Five hundred and fifty one yards of Booty, four hundred
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: and forty seven yards for Douglas, sixteen point seven for Booty,
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: fourteen point four for Douglas.
- 1:12:18Speaker 8: That's sigher than I thought it would be for.
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: Six touchdowns to three touchdowns. Booty made the standout plays
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: that you remember. They basically Pop had some too. I
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: mean they were basically the same. Yeah. Yeah, they got
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: targeted exactly the same amount of times, and they finished
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: with almost identical amount of catches. Booty made bigger plays, yeah,
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: which that's why he's got some more yards, which is
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: the Evans absolutely right. That's my thing. I'll take the guy,
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: and I think Booty's better. Yeah, I think Booty's more
- 1:12:45Speaker 3: valuable to the team. But I just think the Mario
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: Douglas hate starting to bug me.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Oh oh wow, we're talking about Pop now.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: I'm starting to bug me because you know why it's
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: bugging me, because there's something else that's coming that is
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: better than him.
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: Oh but but is the other thing I would say
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: with Booty is that he's more of like a traditional
- 1:13:07Speaker 5: wide receiver, right, like had a better year, Like a
- 1:13:12Speaker 5: speed slot.
- 1:13:13Speaker 8: Gadget like type of guy that you kind of have
- 1:13:16Speaker 8: to have.
- 1:13:16Speaker 5: A role for, like Kishan Boody can play the X
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: like he can go out there and start for a
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: team and play the X and play it at a
- 1:13:23Speaker 5: starter level.
- 1:13:24Speaker 8: So that's maybe a little.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: Bit of a.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: Guy like Douglas should have volume.
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, I mean we've we've been waiting for him
- 1:13:33Speaker 5: to kind of take that.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: One of those guys started, the other guy didn't.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Well there's a reason for that.
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: Well, Booty's better, right.
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: But for Pop to be what we want him to be,
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: it's it's more about volume, right, But that's what.
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: You want him to be. That's not what Drake May wants.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: We don't have to get into this one again, Okay.
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: Well, I mean Drake made, you know, bring it up
- 1:13:55Speaker 5: all the time. He did play with Josh Downs in
- 1:13:57Speaker 5: college and they were similar players, and he fed Josh
- 1:14:00Speaker 5: Downs now, and.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: I don't think that was I don't think Douglas is
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: good as good as Josh Down. I don't think so either.
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: And it was college in the A c C versus
- 1:14:07Speaker 5: the NFL, and like that's all fair. But you know,
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: I think the difference with Pop is just, you know,
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: he's a role specific player, whereas I think Booty can
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: play a high volume of snaps on the out.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: The volume guy that did that for the Patriots last
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: year was Diggs. Yeah, the little slot guy who caught
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: a bunch of short passes that was Diggs last year,
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: not Douglas.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right. Yeah, yeah, well I.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: Think it's like as a secondary option that wasn't a
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: terrible season, is all? Is my only point? No, No,
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: it's good. He's like the fourth option.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: He had that like peak in like the New Orleans game,
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: A big touchdown.
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: A big place in the playoffs.
- 1:14:46Speaker 6: Yeah, touchdown, Texans touchdown, Texans touch And it was in
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: the weather.
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: It might have been big play in fairness like that
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: touchdown might be the only waiting thinking.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: Back on the hot line eight five five pass, five hundred,
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: Mike's and Braintree, what's up? Oh you guys?
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: How you doing?
- 1:15:03Speaker 10: Hey?
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: I don't know if this is a dumb question or not.
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: I haven't been following this year's draft as closely as
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: I normally do, but I was gonna ask, since we
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: brought in a new, uh veteran left guard that's only
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: played about half of his games, do you think what
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: round do you think we would consider targeting a left guard?
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: And also, is this such thing as a swing guard position?
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: Because I've part of the swing tackle.
- 1:15:28Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, sure, yes, I think right now, Ben, i'd say,
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: Ben Brown, is this swing Yeah?
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: Yeah, A lot of interior linemen play all three spots,
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: not all of them, but but the good backups can
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: play all three spots.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: Yeah, one round. Do you think would be the best
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: to target one of those guys?
- 1:15:47Speaker 8: I think right now? Yeah, I mean I think ninety five.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: Thanks Mike.
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: You know, I'm not saying that i'd advocate for it,
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: but I think ninety five. I wouldn't be surprised if
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: they took a guard at all.
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: Pregnant, Dunker.
- 1:16:00Speaker 8: Those guys are still available, I mean, Dunker when I
- 1:16:04Speaker 8: wanted to like them more than I did. You like
- 1:16:06Speaker 8: the mullet more than Yeah, like I want, I wanted
- 1:16:08Speaker 8: to like them more than I did. Pregnant is a
- 1:16:10Speaker 8: good player. I didn't know why he's still.
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: On the board.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: So your guy went nineteenth eighty third. Chris Brazzle, Yeah,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: Brazzle dazzle.
- 1:16:17Speaker 3: Sorry, Eldred, You're welcome.
- 1:16:18Speaker 8: Bryce Young have fun with that.
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:16:21Speaker 4: The Panthers just Panthers just got a Hall of Fame player.
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: Though according to the was that guy's name that yell?
- 1:16:27Speaker 3: We think?
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: We think unless it was Ted Hurst, that's.
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: Going to be one that you know, I mean him
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: him and Ted that's you know, it's interesting in his
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: career very closely. Yeah, that's one that my untrained I
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: thought that this guy is going to be a really,
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: really good player. And we'll see if I end up
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: being ring.
- 1:16:44Speaker 6: Those two and I guy Coker from Holy Cross, who
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: you know been productive, is a.
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: Really good receiver. There's some big receivers.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: I mean, they got you know, they're developing an identity.
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: That's what's interesting to me with some of these teams
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: is you see their drafts coming together. We talked about
- 1:16:57Speaker 6: the Jets having a lot of talent. The Giants are
- 1:16:59Speaker 6: starting to really stacked talent. The Bears are really starting
- 1:17:01Speaker 6: to you know, stack talent. But you see the personalities
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: that these teams kind of take on and you start
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: to see what the team's visions are. I mean, the
- 1:17:09Speaker 6: Patriots are a good example too of you know, starting
- 1:17:11Speaker 6: to show this is the kind.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: Of team that we want to be.
- 1:17:13Speaker 6: I find it really interesting too with just new regimes
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: in Miami, seeing how they're approaching it, new regime in
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: Buffalo for at least the coaching staff, how they're approaching
- 1:17:21Speaker 6: and how you know, and what you're going to be
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: dealing with, especially this year with some of those you know,
- 1:17:26Speaker 6: remade teams.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: A couple of people are saying draft Jennings Dunker.
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Jennings Ducker is a fun player. I mean,
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: he played right tackle in college at Iowa. He's going
- 1:17:36Speaker 5: to play guard in the NFL. He just doesn't have
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: the foot speed in the athleticism to stick outside. He's
- 1:17:41Speaker 5: another one of those nasty, mauling type.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: Of players from an offensive line traditional program.
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, he'd but that's his calling guard. Like,
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: he just he's a he's a maller. He's a road grader.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: You know, they say athletes on the offensive line. That
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: doesn't really scream athlete to me. That screams like I
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: Am going to get into a fight, a fist fight
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: with this guy, not not the other thing. So who knows,
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: you know, I I don't know. But if they're going
- 1:18:11Speaker 5: to really be serious about athletes on the offensive line,
- 1:18:14Speaker 5: and I don't really think that that's Jennings Dunker.
- 1:18:16Speaker 8: I think that's that's not really his game.
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that's interesting.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Are we getting into the And I'll just read this
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: email Stove from the Cape curious when you think it
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: might be worth the draft? Ter Mart McCoy, he towards
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: ACL We know that so there's questions on whether he
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: would play and how he would look returning from an
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: injury like that, But he's undoubtedly a super talented cornerback
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: that would be a major factor in our secondary if
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: he recovers.
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I know, I mean, how many Like everybody keeps
- 1:18:44Speaker 5: asking us the same question, like he's still available at
- 1:18:48Speaker 5: pick eighty four in the third round, right because of
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: what's going on with his knee, Like why, I don't
- 1:18:53Speaker 5: know why the Patriots need to be the team that
- 1:18:55Speaker 5: takes the chance?
- 1:18:56Speaker 24: On on Twitter, most of them too about that. He
- 1:19:01Speaker 24: said he had talked about it before the before the draft,
- 1:19:05Speaker 24: that he's not going to go in the first round,
- 1:19:07Speaker 24: like people think, and you know, and why and you know,
- 1:19:11Speaker 24: sort of charting that he's still available here in the
- 1:19:13Speaker 24: third if they're going to take an injured guy, it
- 1:19:16Speaker 24: would be bad.
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: Chris Bell too, Yeah, yeah, for sure. But there where
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: I pick eighty four right now? The Patriots had ninety five.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: They traded up eight picks right from sixty three to
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: fifty five to take Acus, So we're if they're going
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: to trade up again the rest of the rest of
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: that kind of draft, it seems like, So, I mean
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: you guys done. We're getting closer to that that range
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: where if they're going to do it again, they might
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: do it again.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, Tim writes him, what's more likely picking this is
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: for ninety five picking Kashawn Elliott from ASU linebacker, picking
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: Jalen Kilgore cornerback from South Carolina, or picking Jack Injuries
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: the tight end from Texas.
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: Probably go injuries out of that group. Killgore is like
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: a big nickel. He's gonna probably play in the slot.
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: It's like a bigger slot corner. Uh, his injuries. Oh,
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: Kayshaun Elliott the linebacker. Yeah, I liked Elliott a little bit.
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: You know, he's I think he's got some like run
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: and seek linebacker ability.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: I thought he was pretty good in coverage in the
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: games I watch. Other people don't think he's very good
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: in coverage. So maybe I just watched the good games.
- 1:20:26Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: Uh, but you know that's not somebody that's totally off
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: the radar for them to pick.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: Here keep talking about injuries, and I wanted I knew
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: I watched a lot of tight ends, So I went
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: back and I just looked at what I did. I
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: gave him the very rare up arrow, which means I
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: think that there might be more to him than he
- 1:20:44Speaker 3: is shown.
- 1:20:44Speaker 6: You have a whole system of like symbols that means,
- 1:20:46Speaker 6: like the Parile grading system is the thumb, the up
- 1:20:49Speaker 6: is the.
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: Don't mock me, No, this is great. I don't mock.
- 1:20:53Speaker 8: I liked hearing about friend's process. Now we're hearing you know.
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: I thought he needed a little bulk, you know, and
- 1:20:59Speaker 3: his little incan assistant blocking. But I do think he
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: creates some space. I think he shows some toughness and
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: he can he can catch the ball, make some plays
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: good size six five, Yeah, I think this. I think
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: there's room to grow there. Yeah.
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: Like I said earlier, like he felt to me, uh,
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: in a similar mold as Max Claire. I thought Max
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: Clair was kind of like the higher pick version of
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: him and then injuries. If you liked that Max Clair prototype,
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: then you were going to like injuries in like the
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: fourth round.
- 1:21:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's I wrote third slash four is where
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: everybody sort of had him going. So yeah, and here
- 1:21:33Speaker 3: we are at the bottom of the third round. Yep.
- 1:21:36Speaker 5: Now that he's the Tampa Tampa's Tampa drafts wide receivers,
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: they draft him.
- 1:21:42Speaker 8: Well, I mean Mecca Buca.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: Ed herst intriguing guy.
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: That's Mike Evans replacement right there. It's exact kind of
- 1:21:50Speaker 5: player that he is. Great size, speed, catch and run ability,
- 1:21:56Speaker 5: high point the ball, win the ball at the catch
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: point as well. Uh got that like second gear? That
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: long speed, you know, it's not it's more of a
- 1:22:04Speaker 5: gliding speed than it is, like a setting off the
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: line of scrimmage speed. But once he gets opened up
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: with those strides, he runs right by people.
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: Old friend Jason Light Yeah, okay, call him that Fred
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: Jason Light. Yeah, he used to be here and call
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: him you his friend. No, probably never even spoken to
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: the man.
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: John and La writes him with a trade idea with
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: the BEARSS drafting Sam Rousch to go along with last
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: year's tight end draft pick Lovelin. What would you think
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: of this trade Booty for Cole Comet.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they traded Dj Moore.
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: I mean, I don't know if they didn't draft the
- 1:22:41Speaker 5: receiver yet, right, I'm keeping track of.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: All to me, and I mean I would be I
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: would be willing to do that. Yeah, I would be
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: on to They don't know they need they need that.
- 1:22:50Speaker 5: Yeah, No, they didn't well, they they do need a
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: wide receiver because they traded Dj Moore. They didn't replace
- 1:22:56Speaker 5: the drafting they have.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: I mean they might be looking at Luther Burden having
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: a bigger role, yeah, you know with Roma Dons. But
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: I mean I could see them needing a guy like Booty.
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: I don't know. I maybe they don't feel like they
- 1:23:12Speaker 3: need Comet because I thought he kind of I thought
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: he was underutilized last year for them, so maybe they
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: don't like his style. I've heard worse trade proposals with
- 1:23:24Speaker 3: certainly a lot worse on our shows. But you know,
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: I don't think it's outrageous. I would do it. I
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: would I like that for the Patriots.
- 1:23:31Speaker 6: No, yeah, I think got to find a tight end
- 1:23:34Speaker 6: maybe here, but I don't know which way they're going
- 1:23:36Speaker 6: to go here. We have a handful of picks left
- 1:23:38Speaker 6: about ten or so, but I think we talked about guard,
- 1:23:42Speaker 6: defensive tackle, maybe linebacker, but I don't know.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: I don't love any of the linebackers right now.
- 1:23:47Speaker 5: So the Steelers took Dalen Everett, the corner from Georgia. Yeah,
- 1:23:51Speaker 5: really talented cornerback, you know, raw who's gonna have a
- 1:23:55Speaker 5: long way to go in terms of technique, but I
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: really liked his you know, athleticism, his tools, size. I
- 1:24:01Speaker 5: think he can be somebody that might be able to
- 1:24:03Speaker 5: start down the line for them.
- 1:24:04Speaker 8: And then the Browns took.
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: Austin Barber, the tackle from Florida, who I think might
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: actually end up moving inside the guard but can kind
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: of flex back and forth between those two spots. And
- 1:24:17Speaker 5: he was another like mean blocker, another really physical, really
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: good run blocker.
- 1:24:22Speaker 8: But Everett was it.
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: I thought Everett was one of their guys potentially in
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: that third fourth round range that they wanted to draft.
- 1:24:29Speaker 5: That developmental corner. Got smoked by my guy a couple
- 1:24:33Speaker 5: of times though at Georgia Tennessee game. But he's got
- 1:24:37Speaker 5: a lot of ability. He just hasn't put it all
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: together yet.
- 1:24:40Speaker 6: Yeah, forty one games ran a four three eighty six
- 1:24:43Speaker 6: one good solid, size.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: Eight weight, speed, oppressive, it's the he's got the boxes
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: all right. So we're on the eighty seventh pick. Patriots
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: hold the ninety fifth pick, So we're getting close. We're
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: getting close. Paul. The end is near, yep.
- 1:24:58Speaker 8: Not close enough for Paul.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: No, we're good. We're good. I got a lot of more.
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: Always, I mean now, it's it's seems tomorrow is going
- 1:25:07Speaker 6: to be you know, quicker, only five picks.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: Bob and Wilmington, North Carolina. Loving the attack approach in
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: the draft so far. Keep it going in the third,
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: move up and get the tight end out of North
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: Carolina State Justin Jolly.
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I think Justin Jolly is probably going to be
- 1:25:22Speaker 5: a Day three pick. But I thought Marlin Klein was
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: going to be a Day three pick.
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: So what do I know?
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: But I think the the aggressive I do like the aggressiveness.
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: That's probably been my favorite part about I mean, I
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: really like Acis too, but not sitting back and waiting
- 1:25:37Speaker 5: for things to fall in your lap. I think they
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: maybe did that a little bit too much in.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: Twenty four Value game.
- 1:25:41Speaker 5: Yeah, twenty twenty four felt like they kind of just
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: waited and you know, picked you know, guys that fell
- 1:25:47Speaker 5: into their laps versus going out and getting guys. So
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: I do like that that element of it, that they're
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: not leaving it the chance with some of these guys.
- 1:25:55Speaker 5: And we keep talking about it, but it's everybody tells
- 1:25:58Speaker 5: you it's not a very deep draft, and it's a
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: very good draft. So why have eight picks on Day three, Like,
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: why make all those picks if you don't feel like
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: those guys are going to be able to make the roster.
- 1:26:07Speaker 6: Yeah, we're seeing some highlights now of Boston Barber, and
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: the first one right out of the gate just shows
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: you we talk about like a tackle with some glass
- 1:26:14Speaker 6: eating ability.
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: He's that kind of guy.
- 1:26:17Speaker 6: That's why I think I had him in one of
- 1:26:18Speaker 6: my mock draft videos that we did, like you said,
- 1:26:22Speaker 6: maybe move inside, but for a guy like that, I
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: didn't really mind it. I'm like, well, you know you're
- 1:26:26Speaker 6: gonna maybe need some guard flexibility anyway.
- 1:26:29Speaker 8: That's why I.
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: Had him on because he, you know, Ary Tucker was
- 1:26:33Speaker 5: kind of the same thing coming out of college. Obviously
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: just the first round version, but I thought, I think
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: Barber's gonna play guard. I think that's his best spot,
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: but he can play tackle, and so you know, he
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: would have given the Patriots kind of like a double backup.
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: You know, it would have he would have been able
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: to back up left guard and backup you know, both
- 1:26:51Speaker 5: tackle spots.
- 1:26:52Speaker 3: It would have been a valuable place.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: Trevor and Florida wants to know if they don't take
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: a tight end tonight, do you think they could dip
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: back into free agency or veteran to take some of
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: the load off Henry, possibly David Djoku.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: Possibly possibly be like out there the whole time, and
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: a lot of people send stuff to me about him.
- 1:27:13Speaker 6: I just I think Hunter Henry has been remarkably healthy.
- 1:27:15Speaker 6: I think a huge concern with the Chargers when he
- 1:27:18Speaker 6: was there. He was hurt a lot, I mean towards
- 1:27:19Speaker 6: a C on the off season Mississippi, and yeah, so
- 1:27:24Speaker 6: I just I look at this, if if Hunter Henry
- 1:27:26Speaker 6: gets hurt, you're looking at like twenty twenty tight end production.
- 1:27:30Speaker 6: I mean, it's just and that's that's a really tough
- 1:27:32Speaker 6: place to live, especially with how Drake has such a
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: good connection with Hunter Henry. I'm concerned a little bit
- 1:27:37Speaker 6: about the drop off that he had at the end
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: of last season, kind of invisible down there in the playoffs.
- 1:27:41Speaker 6: So you know, it's it's it's one of those positions where,
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: I mean, unfortunately next year we might be really talking
- 1:27:47Speaker 6: of that as like a primary need.
- 1:27:49Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, I still think there
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: are a couple guys that I would be willing to take,
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: you know, a bed on here. I'll keep pounding the
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: table for injuries. I don't know if you like Ridan'
- 1:28:00Speaker 5: is one of their guys that Eli Rearden, you know,
- 1:28:02Speaker 5: Fred Circle Tanner, Koziel who I think as him upside
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: as a receiver. You know, Daleen Bentley I think is
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: someone that you know can play a little bit too,
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: you know from draft, another Utah guy as well, you know,
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: justin jolly at this point, like with the way the
- 1:28:16Speaker 5: run has gone at tight ends. You know, he was
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: someone that early on in the process started out as
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: a top one hundred guy, and then people kind of
- 1:28:23Speaker 5: soured on him, and guys like Rausch and Delp kind
- 1:28:26Speaker 5: of moved up a little bit more on the board
- 1:28:28Speaker 5: and he moved back.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Was higher on him than a lot of these guys
- 1:28:30Speaker 3: that are getting taken. Yeah. I think it's Jolie by
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: the way. Yeah, he's a jolly guy. Jolly, he's going
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: to be a Patriots So Angelina, Julie.
- 1:28:39Speaker 6: I thought Joe Royer in there too, since Nat he
- 1:28:41Speaker 6: was with somebody I liked, who's physical guy, stiffed and
- 1:28:43Speaker 6: you know, not super athlete, but but I liked him too.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Rio went Texas says, how is Jennings dunk or not
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: an athlete thirty two and a half vertical at three
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: hundred and nineteen pounds four to six three short Shuttle
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: played tackle in college, which is more athletically demanding than guard,
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: and held up longer arms in campbell too. He's not
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: Jared Wilson as an athlete, but Jared Wilson couldn't deal
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: with power or quickness last year, so maybe some nasty
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: road grading could be used inside, especially if they move
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: on from WHENU after next year.
- 1:29:14Speaker 5: I don't I like Dunker, Like I'm not trying to
- 1:29:16Speaker 5: crap on Dunker. I just you know, I look at him.
- 1:29:18Speaker 5: I think he's, you know, moves a little bit heavy,
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: like his feet all right, I feel a little heavy
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: to me.
- 1:29:23Speaker 8: You know that.
- 1:29:24Speaker 5: That's just the way I watched him and saw I'm like,
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: I'm not dumping on the player.
- 1:29:29Speaker 3: I think that he's guidability.
- 1:29:30Speaker 8: I just think you gotta hate.
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: I don't know, I just seem and you like, oh,
- 1:29:34Speaker 5: he's not an athlete now, but I don't.
- 1:29:36Speaker 8: That's not how I saw it.
- 1:29:37Speaker 6: But like in your defense, like specifically, when you look
- 1:29:40Speaker 6: through the lens of the high level athleticism that they're
- 1:29:43Speaker 6: clearly valuing, he just doesn't quite.
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: He's an athletic guy for sure.
- 1:29:47Speaker 6: But these guys you're talking about that, you know, Lomu,
- 1:29:51Speaker 6: Campbell and Wilson elite athletes, the raw athletics.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: Score you know that they put together.
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: I mean they're you know, nine point eight out of ten,
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: nine point you know, nine out of ten.
- 1:29:59Speaker 4: So that's the point trying to make. I'd be super
- 1:30:01Speaker 4: happy with Dunker.
- 1:30:02Speaker 6: I mean, he he fits the kind of Rabel personality
- 1:30:05Speaker 6: and maybe you balance off all right, well we don't.
- 1:30:07Speaker 6: Maybe we're not going to have the most aggressive right tackle,
- 1:30:10Speaker 6: but maybe eventually we're going to have next to him
- 1:30:12Speaker 6: a really aggressive right guard.
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: If I was like looking at the guard class and
- 1:30:17Speaker 5: just thinking like, who would Mike Rabel like in the
- 1:30:20Speaker 5: guard class, I would say Jenning Dunker has to be
- 1:30:22Speaker 5: on the list, right He's one of those kinds of
- 1:30:25Speaker 5: guys kind of similar to Akis, but like the offensive
- 1:30:28Speaker 5: line version of it. But then you know, they take
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: Lomu in the first round, and then Elliott Wolf tells
- 1:30:33Speaker 5: us that, yes, that athleticism is a thing that they're
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: going to prioritize.
- 1:30:37Speaker 19: There.
- 1:30:37Speaker 5: You know, maybe Jennings Dunker is kind of splitting the
- 1:30:40Speaker 5: baby because he is a little bit athletic, you know,
- 1:30:42Speaker 5: especially if you move him inside to guard, He's going
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: to be like an above average athlete at that position
- 1:30:48Speaker 5: compared to tackle. But you know, I just don't think
- 1:30:51Speaker 5: that he I don't think he projects as a guy
- 1:30:53Speaker 5: that can play outside. He's going to have to move inside.
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: Maybe filling in a pinch though, you know, yeah, maybe
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: not crazy.
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: One of our guards just went pregnant. Yeah, I'm surprised.
- 1:31:02Speaker 5: Brighton is a really good player, strong, like very good,
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: you know, low center of gravity, good play, strength, good anchor,
- 1:31:10Speaker 5: you know, just kind of a stout, sturdy guard and
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: did it in a big conference. I thought he was
- 1:31:15Speaker 5: going to be a top seventy five pick. So the
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: fact that he he makes it all the way what
- 1:31:19Speaker 5: the Jags took him eighty eight?
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: Eighty eight?
- 1:31:21Speaker 8: Yeah, I was surprised. You last as long.
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: Jack and Rhode Island love the show and the value
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: you add to us fans at this point in the draft,
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: and given who we acquired so far, what position not
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: getting addressed by the end of the draft would make
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: you the most worried.
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: Worried.
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: But here's the thing is taking a position in the
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: sixth or seventh round, addressing the position. Really is that exactly?
- 1:31:47Speaker 3: It's taken flyers and adding depth and special team, right, yeah,
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: So you have to address a position I think within
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: the first four rounds, and this is the last one.
- 1:31:56Speaker 3: This is the last one you've been addressing a position
- 1:31:58Speaker 3: is earlier. Even than that. You can't take a guy
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: in the fourth row and say, well, we're all said, well,
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: I would.
- 1:32:05Speaker 6: Just say generally I'd like to get a nose tackle
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: and I think you're in the range of.
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: Third, fourth round. Well, just that's the one position they
- 1:32:12Speaker 4: haven't really addressed.
- 1:32:13Speaker 6: And this is the spot that I haven't done. Get
- 1:32:16Speaker 6: a big, big, big guy. You don't need to draft
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: him here in the first two days. But I do
- 1:32:20Speaker 6: think it's in play here, you know, coming up. But
- 1:32:22Speaker 6: this is this is Look, if they stick with the
- 1:32:25Speaker 6: picks that they have, this is it until the fifth round.
- 1:32:28Speaker 6: So you know, after this pick, you're very likely looking
- 1:32:31Speaker 6: at kind of flyers.
- 1:32:32Speaker 3: And they trade down to try to think I do
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: think there is.
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: A chance of that saying they're going to trade down
- 1:32:39Speaker 6: to like the last pick of this round, just to
- 1:32:42Speaker 6: extend us and then and then the one tomorrow.
- 1:32:46Speaker 4: Yeah, but I don't think they like having that big gap.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: I don't think any team likes having that gap. There's
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: thirty six picks in this draft in this round. Yeah,
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: but to.
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: Be fair, if they would have the gap from the
- 1:32:55Speaker 5: second round to the fourth round, which would be similar, right,
- 1:32:58Speaker 5: So the one guy that I and just looking at
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: the best available that's up on the TV right now,
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: like Sean Barram is still there too. And we've talked
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: a lot about Ed drusher and linebacker, and he played
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: both at Michigan and might have the ability to kind
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: of be hybrid and play a little bit on the
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: edge on third down, off the ball on second down,
- 1:33:17Speaker 5: you know, first and second down, that sort of thing.
- 1:33:19Speaker 3: He does a little like poor Man's Arvilla rees then,
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: like he's a little off ball line but an edge guy.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: Like, yeah, that's not a bad comp Yeah, And you know,
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: I think that that's maybe they if you feel like
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: that's checking both boxes a little bit, right, Like you
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: get a guy intrigued that can develop in both airs.
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: Because Akis is an on the line of scrimmage player,
- 1:33:37Speaker 5: like he's a he's a pure edge like he's gonna
- 1:33:41Speaker 5: be out, you know, on the line. So uh, barm
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: has got a little bit more versatility. He's not as
- 1:33:46Speaker 5: big and not quite as physical, but like think of
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: the roles specifically of like Dante high Tower, right, a
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: guy that can play off the ball on first and
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: second down. That there's some just wacky wide receivers that
- 1:33:59Speaker 5: are going to this point and uh, you know edge rusher,
- 1:34:03Speaker 5: you know on third down. I think Barm is the
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: type of guy that could do that. So maybe they
- 1:34:07Speaker 5: they get deuced to edge rushers.
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: I don't need to be greedy. I don't need to
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: be greedy.
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: Goodness, give me a big, fat guy. Yeah there.
- 1:34:14Speaker 5: The wide receiver board, I feel like is is kind
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: of like kind of all over the place too, Like
- 1:34:18Speaker 5: tight ends a little bit wonky right now. Also, and uh,
- 1:34:22Speaker 5: you know guys like Xavi and Thomas and you know
- 1:34:24Speaker 5: late round pick projections that are going here in the
- 1:34:26Speaker 5: top one hundred.
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: James writes in have read that Campbell had a ligamentaire
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: from a Cincinnati game and after his four game ir stint,
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: he played the rest of the season, including playoffs, with
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: that issue. I wonder if he's had surgical repair from
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: that injury, and if his prognosis is he'll be recovered
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: when the actual season starts, have not heard anything about
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: his status. He said he wasn't getting any surgery.
- 1:34:51Speaker 8: I believe that was the plan, was just that rest and.
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: He had a sprained and I believe he said to
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: us when he spoke to us the day after that
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: he was not planning on surgery. I don't know if
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: that changed, but that's what he said that day.
- 1:35:06Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I am not planning on surgery.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: All right, So Xavi and Thomas the wide receiver.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: Wow, Kaylen Black, the running back from Indiana is getting
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: picked right now by the forty nine ers.
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: Oh he was a good college player.
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I like the second running back taken.
- 1:35:24Speaker 5: No price went, but this is higher. Like this is
- 1:35:29Speaker 5: again another pick that I would say is a little
- 1:35:32Speaker 5: bit off consensus because Washington and Arkansas is still on
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: the board and most people had him as like the
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: consensus third running back in this draft and Washington, you know,
- 1:35:41Speaker 5: Kaylen Black a little bit lower than that.
- 1:35:43Speaker 3: But I liked Black.
- 1:35:44Speaker 5: I thought he had some explosiveness, like underrated speed, ran
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: a four four five, you know, has that a little
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: bit of home run ability and feel for the work
- 1:35:53Speaker 5: in the trenches. Things like that, you know, goal line
- 1:35:56Speaker 5: ten touchdowns last year and a lot of goal line
- 1:35:59Speaker 5: work for Indian and I was surprised that people weren't
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: higher on him.
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: Okay, so that's the forty nine ers pick. The Raiders
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: are on the clock at ninety one. Of course, the
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: Patriots are at ninety five.
- 1:36:12Speaker 3: Getting close.
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: So we're getting close.
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: Get excited.
- 1:36:16Speaker 6: I really don't know getting excited. I think there's a
- 1:36:18Speaker 6: lot of different directions they could go. I think I'm
- 1:36:20Speaker 6: going to.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: Be Chris Bell still out there?
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: Yes, yes he is.
- 1:36:23Speaker 8: Yeah, Chris Bell is still out there.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: Skyler Bell is Why why is Chris Bell still But that?
- 1:36:30Speaker 6: But I like Evans thing, I mean, I do like
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: that makes sense to me. You're gonna get that's Paul
- 1:36:34Speaker 6: stank Antonio.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: Don't give him all. Don't give him all the flowers.
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: Don't do that to me, did you. Yeah, I'm cranky enough,
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: So it's going to be after midnight by the time
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: I get home. I don't know, Okay, but I love
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: that idea.
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: I love It's just perfect.
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: You know, you stole a guy.
- 1:36:49Speaker 6: You maybe maybe he comes back mid season.
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: Got the readers on.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: I'm just glad your face wasn't slashed open in this well.
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: I mean, you know, I just I'm just glad that
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: you know, I didn't out before or any of my
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: friends told me that I was bleeding. Some friend show that.
- 1:37:04Speaker 6: Evan took a bus cutter and was like, we're not
- 1:37:06Speaker 6: making when.
- 1:37:08Speaker 1: You get home, does it take a village to get
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: you to bed? Like?
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: No, I will say it will never been one that
- 1:37:15Speaker 3: like like some people can just drive home, change, get
- 1:37:20Speaker 3: in bed and they were sleep ten minutes later. Yeah,
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: it'll be two hours.
- 1:37:23Speaker 8: I'm with you, but you have you.
- 1:37:26Speaker 6: Have an hour to like wind down to like I'm
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: home in like fifteen minutes.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: I feel like I just lay there and I like
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: stare at the ceiling, think about is taken. I try
- 1:37:37Speaker 3: some stuff and try.
- 1:37:41Speaker 8: Some stuff, don't worry about it. Have you tried z zequill?
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: Is it like it's just like the the sleep part
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: and it's not like there's no cold medicine.
- 1:37:49Speaker 3: I did forget to take my concoction last night and
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: then I was like I was in bed and I
- 1:37:53Speaker 3: was like and I was like, I'm not getting up.
- 1:37:55Speaker 6: Yeah, it's hard, especially when we do the games. We
- 1:37:58Speaker 6: do the postgame show for night games, and you know,
- 1:38:00Speaker 6: you just especially the games here, the energy and stuff.
- 1:38:02Speaker 3: You don't want to wake. You wind up like like.
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: A sleeping gown and the sleeping calf.
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: I can kind of.
- 1:38:10Speaker 8: See that from like matching pajamas like.
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: Like this with cartoon em I sleep Nude, sleep in
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: the nude. The Ultimate male versus the ultimate meatball.
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: All right, it's that time, I like get punchy. Tomorrow
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: will be a little punchy too.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: It's fun. Robin, San Diego, via Connecticut. With all the
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: talk about wrestling got me thinking about Fred's other sports, tennis.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: How would the crew rank the following in terms of
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: how much they qualify as a real sport? Racquetball, ping pong, tennis,
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: pickle ball, badminton, and why is pick a ball below
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: the arcade game? Pong?
- 1:39:00Speaker 8: Tennis is definitely around, that's a sport.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: Yeah. If you for me, Lebron hit a three to
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: that game to overtime, he's a good player. Like he's
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: pretty good. It's pretty good. Pretty good now, sorry ahead, Yeah.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: Pickleball, it's a physical enough game where and that you
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: can affect the other opponent with what you're doing. That's
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: a sport.
- 1:39:20Speaker 8: Tennis, y, Yeah, ten is definitely a sport. Tenns more sport.
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: Absolutely, Tennis is.
- 1:39:25Speaker 8: More of a sport than golf.
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: Oh yeah, like I would say golf is a sport
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: even agree bhysically affect somebody else, but it's.
- 1:39:32Speaker 8: Less of a sport than tennis.
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:39:33Speaker 8: Absolutely Tennis you got to move around, you gotta run.
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: Tennis absolutely requires more. Yeah.
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: What I don't understand about tennis, And I know this
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: is not related at all, but when you watch these
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: like major finals with that are five set five setters,
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: like how are they still standing?
- 1:39:49Speaker 14: There?
- 1:39:49Speaker 8: Is such a shape The endurance is incrediback.
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: I always think, did you ever Like you watch a
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: point that goes like twenty volleys and you just watch
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: them hit it back and forth and you're not really
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: thinking how tired they are, and then you know the
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: point ends and then they got them to the next point.
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: Like I mean they have a little time, but not much. Yeah,
- 1:40:08Speaker 3: and it's just amazing how conditioned they are, you know,
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: a guy like Jokovic.
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I just don't understand how the endurance, Like I
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: don't know how they play five sets like that and
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: like they're still going.
- 1:40:23Speaker 3: It's some of the ones that they do, like in
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: the heat of the sun and it's like.
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: I mean, guys throw up, they pass out. I've seen.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: It's a sportful life.
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: But yeah, but you can play it until you're older,
- 1:40:38Speaker 5: even though also yeah, and then you.
- 1:40:41Speaker 3: Go to pickleball.
- 1:40:42Speaker 8: No, not fred.
- 1:40:44Speaker 26: Definitely like a pickleball like sure, it's just like a
- 1:40:48Speaker 26: pickleball paddle with like a Ghostbusters like eventually they sell
- 1:40:52Speaker 26: Patriots pickleball rackets have like a Patriot logo, Get on it.
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: Trey Zooon from Texas A and m to the Raiders
- 1:40:59Speaker 5: listening him as a center he played tackle Say what
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: at Texas?
- 1:41:02Speaker 8: Say it is?
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: And I brought this guy out the podcast and I
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: haven't almost fell off his chair.
- 1:41:09Speaker 8: Yeah, because you like pulled a good one out.
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: I was like, whoa, that's a little disrespectful, but like deep.
- 1:41:14Speaker 8: Like you know this is you know, we're we're getting
- 1:41:16Speaker 8: a little later now.
- 1:41:17Speaker 13: Uh.
- 1:41:17Speaker 8: Trey Zoon, I thought was I liked him.
- 1:41:20Speaker 5: I thought he was kind of similar to Austin Barber,
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: you know, like kind of similar kind of power, like
- 1:41:25Speaker 5: sturdy type of player.
- 1:41:26Speaker 8: Run blocker.
- 1:41:27Speaker 5: I didn't realize that they thought he was going to
- 1:41:30Speaker 5: move all the way inside the center.
- 1:41:31Speaker 8: I mean I thought guard for sure.
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: But weird, I've heard that before, Like yeah, and my
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: guess is they're not drafting him as a center after
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: just sign on lin Bram. Want to play him at god?
- 1:41:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I think they play him at guard. I mean,
- 1:41:43Speaker 5: this is happening with a lot of these guys in
- 1:41:45Speaker 5: this draft. It's kind of a tweener draft for a
- 1:41:47Speaker 5: lot of the offensive linemen. You know, for might move
- 1:41:50Speaker 5: inside also, so we'll see about that one.
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: Ryan and Connecticut, Am I the only one with my
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: paul like ears Reading into Rabel's comments, he keeps saying
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: he has full confidence in Wolf and his staff going
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: into Saturday. It almost sounds like Wolf might be on
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: the hot seat and Calvin could be lining up for
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: his job. I don't know where you get that from them.
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: I'm gonna okay, I'm gonna back off of that one.
- 1:42:14Speaker 8: Wait, what he's saying that, Elliot Wolf's on the hot seat?
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: Well, he said he hears Rabel say I have full
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: confidence in Wolf and his staff, and from that he's saying,
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: it sounds like Wolf might be on the hot seat
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: and Calvin could be lining up for his job.
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: I don't see where you get that.
- 1:42:31Speaker 8: I think he was trying to give credit to the
- 1:42:33Speaker 8: whole group.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:42:35Speaker 3: To me, I think stretch.
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: I think from last year to this year, I think
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: Wolf has established himself in Rabel's eyes. It's to me,
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: that's what I'm hearing.
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: I mean, you build a roster that goes to the
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: super Bowl, even if you got some breaks along the way,
- 1:42:49Speaker 5: you still built a roster that went to the super Bowl.
- 1:42:52Speaker 8: And you know what, I know, it's the easy.
- 1:42:54Speaker 3: It was not that hard.
- 1:42:55Speaker 5: And I don't want to give him too much credit necessarily,
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: but he drafted Drake May and you know, we talked
- 1:43:03Speaker 5: about it in the lead up to that draft about
- 1:43:05Speaker 5: possibly trading out. And you know there were teams, you know,
- 1:43:08Speaker 5: like the Giants and the Vikings that were trying to
- 1:43:10Speaker 5: pressure them and offer them big things.
- 1:43:12Speaker 3: That we weren't talking about it, I know, but it
- 1:43:14Speaker 3: was part of the.
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: Edge off the board.
- 1:43:17Speaker 8: He stuck to his guns. He took the quarterback, and
- 1:43:19Speaker 8: the quarterback is the runner up for MVP, so it
- 1:43:22Speaker 8: gives them a little leeway.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: I would think, yeah, And I don't want to discourage
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: the email it because I like that that that kind
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: of like listen read see what you know, what's not
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: being said, try to interpret. I think that might be
- 1:43:34Speaker 3: a little bit of a stretch, though. I think he
- 1:43:35Speaker 3: really is just giving the personnel guys and led by
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: Elliott the credit.
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: I think maybe last year he'd be saying Elliott and Ryan,
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: and now he's just saying Elliott.
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: Maybe maybe yeah.
- 1:43:47Speaker 5: So my guy to Shaun Barham, the cowboy that Evan
- 1:43:51Speaker 5: was just talking about.
- 1:43:51Speaker 8: It was the guy I was just talking about.
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: The Patriots are in the hole.
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: They might even be on the clock on the actual
- 1:43:56Speaker 5: pick at this point. You know they're coming up, quick pick, Please.
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: Pick somebody ninety three.
- 1:44:02Speaker 5: On TV, Jennings Ducker is kind of staring at at
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: you and this board.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: Right now, look at we just made another pick.
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: Yeah maybe yeah, maybe Tyrning, like Teern Tiernan, does feel
- 1:44:15Speaker 5: a little bit more athletic than he does like college
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: left tackle that's probably going to move inside.
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: He doesn't have a mullet.
- 1:44:23Speaker 8: Zi Key Wheatley into somebody that they met with.
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: I like him.
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: The Rams pick here, What craziness are they going to do?
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: Right here?
- 1:44:30Speaker 3: What are you silly?
- 1:44:31Speaker 26: Rams?
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: I think the tight end pick is stranger than ty Simpson, right,
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: I mean, they have three productive tight ends they feel
- 1:44:42Speaker 3: like they took Clay Yeah.
- 1:44:43Speaker 8: I mean he's a good player though.
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: No I know, but they had three productive tight ends slash.
- 1:44:47Speaker 8: I understand, but they just drafted a good player like
- 1:44:49Speaker 8: they might have just like.
- 1:44:50Speaker 1: He can trust offensive tackle.
- 1:44:53Speaker 8: Yeah, another like Tweeter tackle prospect.
- 1:44:55Speaker 5: Another guy that uh you know probably is going to
- 1:44:58Speaker 5: move inside at this We'll see. I mean, you know,
- 1:45:01Speaker 5: with all these guys, but I would say Barber trost Zoom,
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: I felt like we're all the kind of I felt
- 1:45:09Speaker 5: like I was watching the same player.
- 1:45:11Speaker 8: I was like, am I which school am I watching?
- 1:45:13Speaker 9: Again?
- 1:45:13Speaker 8: Like, I feel like I'm watching the same guy.
- 1:45:15Speaker 5: Really, you know, all kind of run blockers, you know,
- 1:45:18Speaker 5: powerful dudes come off the ball. Well, like that's that's
- 1:45:22Speaker 5: all three of these guys, and it makes sense that
- 1:45:24Speaker 5: all three of them kind of went in the span
- 1:45:25Speaker 5: of you know, a handful of picks here. So the
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: Patriots so we're at ninety four, yep, so the Patriots
- 1:45:33Speaker 5: might might be on the clock.
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: In Miami is next and then the Patriots, So yeah,
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: what up? I know that for sure?
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: Yep.
- 1:45:43Speaker 6: I mean, I Chris Bell, one of my guys is.
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: To Keith Abney, go yeah, you know he's not.
- 1:45:49Speaker 3: I would really like the idea of Chris Bell. I
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: don't think he'll do it, but I would really like that.
- 1:45:54Speaker 5: Yeah, he's already doing, you know, the off season workout thing,
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: and so they're Miami.
- 1:45:59Speaker 8: Pick is in, So the Patriots are definitely on the clock.
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: Now, what do you think of Danny Dennis du Danny?
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you double dip it your head. I don't.
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: I don't know if I need it with him. I
- 1:46:10Speaker 4: just I don't.
- 1:46:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't see the same kind of fire that
- 1:46:13Speaker 6: I saw with Acus.
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: And I think he's pretty light too.
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: Don't you like when he just dismisses your friend, Oh yeah,
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: a little pat on the head and says, nice job,
- 1:46:24Speaker 3: little boy, Trey Zoom, good job.
- 1:46:26Speaker 8: The pick is in for the Patriots.
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: The pick is they did pick. They did pick someone
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: they did. Oh so happy.
- 1:46:34Speaker 8: We'll see if it breaks on Twitter so I can
- 1:46:37Speaker 8: say it out loud.
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: They could still move up into the round.
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:46:45Speaker 8: All the way from the fish.
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: Yeah, they're gonna pack. They're gonna package the two six
- 1:46:49Speaker 3: to move up one hundred spots into the bottom of
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: the third round.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: We're waiting.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: It's on Twitter. What is it Eli, Rarit and tight
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: end Notre Dame.
- 1:47:00Speaker 8: Yeah, so interesting player there, it is, so there it is.
- 1:47:04Speaker 5: Rariden had an injury history back and you know early
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: on in his career he tore the ACL in both
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: of his knees early on at Notre Dame. But he
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: had a healthy season last year, bounced back, had.
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: A good year.
- 1:47:17Speaker 8: He's huge. He's six six two.
- 1:47:18Speaker 5: Forty five giant wingspan, he has like almost eleven inch
- 1:47:22Speaker 5: chance so big, big hands, big target over the middle
- 1:47:25Speaker 5: of the field for six forty yard dash, really good
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: ability to stretch the seams, get down the field, big,
- 1:47:31Speaker 5: big target. And one of the things that we kept
- 1:47:33Speaker 5: hearing about Deuce was catch radius. You know, the importance
- 1:47:37Speaker 5: of catch radius and then wanting to hammer that for Drake.
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: May red zone target.
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: I could be a red zone target, but somebody that
- 1:47:44Speaker 5: I thought really made some big plays, you know. I
- 1:47:48Speaker 5: think he averaged over fifteen yards of catch last year
- 1:47:51Speaker 5: at Notre Dame and has that ability maybe not to
- 1:47:54Speaker 5: change directions at the top of the route, maybe not
- 1:47:56Speaker 5: the smoothest in that aspect of his game, but he
- 1:47:59Speaker 5: has that straight line speed and then he's got that
- 1:48:02Speaker 5: that huge catch radius.
- 1:48:04Speaker 8: And ability to win above the rim.
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: Some questions about his blocking, I would say, and like
- 1:48:08Speaker 5: his blocking toughness and like.
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: The guy that got the ball up arrow.
- 1:48:12Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, we'll see, but you know, we'll obviously
- 1:48:16Speaker 5: talk a lot about I'm sure those a cls will
- 1:48:18Speaker 5: will be talked about a time. But I thought he
- 1:48:20Speaker 5: had upside to potentially be a starter in the league.
- 1:48:23Speaker 8: So this is like your ball of clay tell you
- 1:48:26Speaker 8: that he's another.
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: Guy needs a little bulk too. I thought he needs
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: a little mass, but gritty, uh, not flashy. But yeah,
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: I liked a lot of stuff about him. Solid I
- 1:48:35Speaker 3: thought solid technique, but lacked mass.
- 1:48:37Speaker 6: This is so rare to me that we came into
- 1:48:39Speaker 6: this day saying they got to get an edge in
- 1:48:41Speaker 6: a tight end today, and that's exactly what they did.
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: So this is where I'm gonna go Evan and like,
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: you know, pat ourselves on the back. It's just like
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: I just like when you know, we tell them what
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: they need and they listen to him. Right, I'm joking
- 1:48:53Speaker 3: before that goes.
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: Viral, But there is something to that.
- 1:48:57Speaker 27: Sometimes things you don't over you don't need to over
- 1:49:00Speaker 27: think it, right right, you know, just because people are
- 1:49:02Speaker 27: saying you need something, doesn't mean they're wrong, you know,
- 1:49:06Speaker 27: like they can be right too.
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: And this is I mean, and he's protected.
- 1:49:10Speaker 6: I mean, this really reminds me a lot of the
- 1:49:12Speaker 6: Lomu pick of guy who's got to develop a little bit,
- 1:49:14Speaker 6: who's got to get stronger, you know, who's got to
- 1:49:17Speaker 6: maybe develop a little of that nastiness. And you know,
- 1:49:19Speaker 6: maybe now that you have a trend to two of
- 1:49:21Speaker 6: those guys, you can say that it is a little
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: bit surprising how they've you know, taken two guys that
- 1:49:26Speaker 6: this is something. All in the lead up to the draft,
- 1:49:28Speaker 6: Patriots Draft countdown, we talk about effort and finish and
- 1:49:30Speaker 6: looking for those guys.
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: Acus has it no question he fits.
- 1:49:33Speaker 6: The other two guys, they're they're gonna probably have to
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: try to bring that out of them a little bit maybe,
- 1:49:38Speaker 6: but talented players, athletic players have good skills to work.
- 1:49:41Speaker 5: Think the Dolphins took Chris Bell, so yeah, I wonder
- 1:49:44Speaker 5: if if the Patriots were interested or not. I just
- 1:49:47Speaker 5: look at Rariden because of the injuries that he had
- 1:49:50Speaker 5: early on in his career at Notre Dame, it kind
- 1:49:53Speaker 5: of stunted his development and so like he doesn't really
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: have you know, the nuances of the game I think
- 1:49:59Speaker 5: are still a little bit unfamiliar to him.
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: I think we might be up. I see something still
- 1:50:04Speaker 3: is trade ninety six pick dealing with the Patriots. Oh
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: unless unless that's wrong. I think that might be wrong.
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: That's wrong that Aaron Wilson was wrong. He wrote still
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: is That's what he wrote. He tweeted it, and then
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: he said they acquired a ninety six pick from the
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: Seahawks for the ninety ninth overall. He must have just
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: been looking at the board and saw the Patriots and
- 1:50:25Speaker 3: picked the wrong one.
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: Okay, Ian rared has got ten inch and three ten
- 1:50:29Speaker 6: and three quarters hands.
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: Big big mit, big big mits, and like I would
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: describe him as quarterback friendly because he's got a huge
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: catch radius and he's got huge hands. So you know,
- 1:50:42Speaker 5: we're talking about a guy that you can kind of
- 1:50:45Speaker 5: just throw the ball in his general vicinity and he
- 1:50:47Speaker 5: can make, you know, plays on the football. I think
- 1:50:49Speaker 5: the one thing that you know, like I was mentioning,
- 1:50:52Speaker 5: he has those two torn acls early on in his
- 1:50:54Speaker 5: career at Notre Dame, so it took him off the field.
- 1:50:57Speaker 8: And so there are just some.
- 1:50:57Speaker 5: Little nuances, you know, finding this off spots and zones,
- 1:51:01Speaker 5: understanding how to attack leverage, and his route running, you know,
- 1:51:04Speaker 5: spatial awareness as he's running down the field to kind
- 1:51:07Speaker 5: of gravitate away from zone defenders, you know, blocking things,
- 1:51:11Speaker 5: you know that that.
- 1:51:12Speaker 3: Type of stuff.
- 1:51:13Speaker 5: He's a little bit higher cut, you know, obviously at
- 1:51:15Speaker 5: six foot six, so he's leveraging and you know, all
- 1:51:18Speaker 5: that good stuff. But all all those things, could you
- 1:51:21Speaker 5: know come in time for him. It is Deon Branch. Yeah,
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: all those things can come in time for him, and
- 1:51:26Speaker 5: I think that he has a lot of upside and potential.
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: Anthony, Yeah Branch that I had to wait in the bag.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: Thank you guys for the man patient.
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: Thank you Pittsburgh.
- 1:51:40Speaker 10: Yeah, we appreciate you guys too.
- 1:51:43Speaker 28: I'm here to announce the greatest organizations pick NFL draft,
- 1:51:57Speaker 28: the greatest organizations select Eli.
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: Rare dun tight.
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: End Notre Dame.
- 1:52:07Speaker 20: He is a tall, lean tight end who by as
- 1:52:10Speaker 20: frame you see, okay, yeah, he's like a big slot.
- 1:52:13Speaker 20: He's that long strider.
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: You'll see him get down the scene.
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: But I was impressed how competitive he was.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: All right, all right, Well that that wraps up Day two.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: Never a bad idea to take a Notre Dame tight end,
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: but he was.
- 1:52:29Speaker 5: He was the next Notre Dame tight end and then
- 1:52:30Speaker 5: he blew out his knee like he was supposed to
- 1:52:32Speaker 5: be the next Cool Commet, the next Michael Mayer, like
- 1:52:35Speaker 5: that kind of guy, and then he had the injuries.
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: Yeah, now I's come here and he's gonna resurrect his
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: career and.
- 1:52:42Speaker 6: No, it's it's a good day. I mean I I
- 1:52:44Speaker 6: we do these drafts. I think back to some of
- 1:52:45Speaker 6: these drafts when you got through it and you're like,
- 1:52:47Speaker 6: why did they take another safety or why did they
- 1:52:49Speaker 6: You know, you can debate how much you like the
- 1:52:51Speaker 6: player or not, you know where you think they're gonna
- 1:52:54Speaker 6: end up, how much they fit.
- 1:52:55Speaker 3: But in terms of the needs and things that we.
- 1:52:57Speaker 6: Thought were important, these are the three positions we've talked
- 1:53:00Speaker 6: about all spring long, trying to find a long term
- 1:53:03Speaker 6: offensive tackle, you know, replacement eventually for Morgan Moses, to
- 1:53:07Speaker 6: protect that.
- 1:53:07Speaker 3: The tight end position.
- 1:53:09Speaker 6: I mean, we hit on that, and of course the
- 1:53:11Speaker 6: edge that was the biggest need in a big class.
- 1:53:12Speaker 6: They went up to get a guy as they started
- 1:53:14Speaker 6: to go, so, you know, we'll see how it all
- 1:53:16Speaker 6: works out. But I think it all makes sense to me,
- 1:53:19Speaker 6: and that's a good place to start. You're not always
- 1:53:21Speaker 6: going to know, I mean, these guys got to get
- 1:53:22Speaker 6: on the field. We'll see how they perform. But in
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: terms of checking the boxes of the knees, I think
- 1:53:27Speaker 6: they're doing a good job.
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: All right, that's going to be it for tonight's show.
- 1:53:31Speaker 1: We will be back tomorrow at two pm Eastern Time,
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: a two hour show. Tomorrow. We'll see what happens during
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: that window, catch you up with everything else that happened
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: overnight and during the day, and then these guys have
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: to get to work finding out who these guys really are.
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: They'll be talking to their position coaches and their colleges,
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: getting their rankings in different categories coachability, toughness, all that stuff.
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: So a lot of work to do once this draft ends.
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: But for us tonight, Deuce, Evan, Paul, myself, Matt in
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: the booth. Thanks for watching. We will see you tomorrow.
- 1:54:13Speaker 6: Hey, this is Deuce. Thanks for tuning into the show.
- 1:54:16Speaker 6: If you really want to help us, make sure you
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: like us wherever you get your podcasts like Apple Podcasts
