- 0:04What is peace for you? Peace? What's peace for you? All right?
- 0:08Peace for me is having a full understanding of who we are and whose
- 0:14we are. UM, we can move forward with a deeper knowledge and appreciation
- 0:20and gratitude for our history. UM. In two thousand and twelve, and
- 0:27anticipation of the m of the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of emancipation, we
- 0:35wrote something called the African American Cultural Narrative. This is our story in two
- 0:44hundred and eighty one words. UM, We're doing everything that we possibly can
- 0:49to see to it that that we can that we can teach this to our
- 0:55children, not only in the schools, but at the homes and in the
- 1:00churches. So when as we say the dawn of freedom, that journey continues
- 1:06with the knowledge that with the knowledge that you know back in the sixties,
- 1:11in the fifties, when we were fighting for those civil rights, we are
- 1:18fighting for those civil rights the people. It was a black and white country.
- 1:23Today it's multi cultural, it's multi ethnic. The African American, the
- 1:27Black community of the United States is multi cultural and multi ethnic. So it's
- 1:33important that our young people know their story. Who are you and you know
- 1:38and who are you, that question is going to be asked. So we
- 1:42have to be able to see to it that our kids respond and the positive
- 1:46and the affirmative. Yes, we're the mighty descendants of the Great Emancipation of
- 1:51eighteen sixty three, beloved sons and daughters of the Most High God. We
- 1:57have to build our story or on you know, like on truth. And
- 2:04yes, we have a triumphant history and a triumphant story that if we don't
- 2:08pass this along to our children, it certainly hurts all of America, and
- 2:13all Americans should know the African American cultural narrative. So we have that available.
- 2:19It's online, you can again download it, but we have it in
- 2:23several different forms. We have it in video form and we have an imprinted
- 2:27form. But we want to see to it that our community, our young
- 2:30people in our community, by the time they are thirteen years old, they'll
- 2:34know how to recite it, they'll know how to speak it, they'll know
- 2:38to commit it to memory and comprehension, comprehend it. And that's peace,
- 2:46you know, that is with giving your children a knowledge of who they are
- 2:51in this country. It's it's also a part of the American identity because it's
- 2:55a part of it. So you know, one could say, well,
- 3:00you know, historically the cultural narrative may not be all that accurate, but
- 3:05also but it still is the truth. Just like um in about in biblical
- 3:09terms, Jonah and the whale. You know, um, that was not
- 3:13necessarily a factual story, but it was a narrative, and so we have
- 3:17to teach a narrative. Gotcha, beautiful, Thank you,
