- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: What is you Simon and C.K.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about?
- 1:08[SPEAKER_00]: We mostly talked about, uh,
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: like a lot of the good from that came out of that game and like what we were disappointed in.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: So, basically, on offense, we kind of talked about how Malik Wilson's game was a little bit better than you felt, you know, when that game ended, when you could do that game ended, you felt like, ah, man, he left a lot of stuff on there.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: But you came away, like, if this was a rookie quarterback, he'd be pretty excited.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: you know and we forget he had seven starts you really can't judge quarterback until they have like 30 starts right so he looked like a guy that was making his seventh start and he was throwing to a bunch of rookie wide receivers uh we didn't like the play calling at all we had serious issues with that
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: And on defense, we came away very enthusiastic about the safety, but, you know, cautiously optimistic.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_00]: And disappointed with the defensive tackles that we thought would be kind of like, what would carry this team going forward.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: But we do feel really good about the linebackers going forward, like, that should be the best unit on the team.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, we kind of know the often struggle to water water, right?
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, first down was like the main route issue, especially early on, right?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: Some people say that they only had a 5% success rate.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_01]: My data has it with a 19% success rate based on what you count as successful.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's either five yards or six yards.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't asked five yards other.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: websites like PFF, PFN, Tromedia, a lot of other stuff, have it as six plus yards.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_01]: But if you get over 50% of your order to jump first down, that's pretty successful because you're in second and manageable.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_01]: But if you remember off last year in the last two years with the Mike McDaniel offense, second down is a problem for a mighty, right?
- 3:03[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't actually a problem
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: manageable situations where they could convert.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: And second down was their actual best down.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: They had a plus point two four one EPA and a 55% success rate, which is getting at least 70% of the yards needed to convert on first on which is either a third and short, which is a third and two, a third and three or you convert for your first down, which is
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: Pretty good, and I think that might be something that Bobby Slavic might have learned from my opinion.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the previous regime on second down, one thing you could attribute, like the lack of success on second down was how predictable they were on second down.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: And it was pretty much analytically driven.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like this was a group of coaches that really did believe in that type of stuff.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, you never run on second and ten.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: You always run on second and two, you know, it's simple things like that where you could almost chart by whatever the down in distance was on second down and the defense could prepare accordingly.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, now sometimes it was just like great because you know the offense was clicking on all cylinders, but.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: It does come a time where teams are just so long that, you know, that just doesn't work anymore.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: But we shall see going forward.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: But it is important.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_00]: And it's interesting that you say five yards.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_00]: I'm more in line with you because a lot of coaches in the NFL consider first-down runs that gain four yards for a successful play.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's a good rich, but I mean the run game wasn't working either.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't work as design core concept of outside zone seven carries less than three arch per carry the only positive rushing value of the game was will is scrambling
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: Mon-A-Chain didn't get the ball at that much and that was pretty disappointing, but I mean, the big thing was the Brookie-Wide receiver, right Chris Bell, Kevin Coleman and pretty much Caleb Douglas, caring the offense, right even though Malik Washington led the team in targets with eight targets Caleb Douglas was right behind him with seven targets but five catches 94 yards and guess what guys Caleb Douglas had
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: five point four yards of average separation, which is ranked number one in all of week one past catchers.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to say it's too early, but he looked like everything John Erick Sullivan drafted him for, even though a lot of them gave him shit for it.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and the, and the, and the comparables are like, like their tough, right, because the people that watch him and they try to quantify what his game actually looks like and they want to compare them obviously not going to compare them to somebody who's average, right, you want to compare them to the high end of what you think you can be and man those names that keep coming back, it's exciting, it's hurting one.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, which I kind of had a rewatch and see, and it was like just a tad paprika of the one day.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what that's what I was going to say.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_00]: That was the name that I was going to say that everybody's like, this is the fun to add them and I'm like, well, first of all, relax.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: Second of all.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I can see it.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's not crazy, you know.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get right into the defense.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: Both touchdowns for the Raiders came off of cover one man coverage on third down.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_01]: Both of them at least for passing wise came on Chris Johnson.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_01]: There was a lot of single high shows in this game.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of cover one, a lot of cover three.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: that allowed for 243 yards across 43 snaps, which was half of the Miami's entire defense of a snap count for the game.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: But now we hear throughout, you know, just the pressures from Jeff Hathley and the safety's the entire blame wasn't on Chris Johnson for those touchdowns.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, and you really got to watch the alto one, too.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes, you know, some of it's kind of on a linebacker to try to squeeze some of those windows, right?
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, sometimes there's help.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Whenever you're giving up leverage in the middle of the field, it's not really a two-way go.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of people like to look at it like, oh, it's a two-way go.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, not necessarily.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, sometimes,
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: I'm playing you with a certain type of leverage because I know I have helped to the inside.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: And the best cases, like one moment I thought in last night's game, the Chiefs and Broncos game, that I thought was instructive on how you play those coverages perfectly, was on that perfectly thrown ball by Boneyx that Jillon Wattled dropped.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: like they played them with the correct leverage and they squeezed that window and he dropped it.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yep, you know.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: If he makes the catch, if he makes the catch, the tackle is right there at the first down marker.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: That's actually what it probably gets it.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: But the coverage was well played.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's actually what happened with the first Michael to have the interception to.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: The coverage was good and just how tight Jacob Rodriguez
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, squeeze the window lane, crit cousins had to adjust his angle and he threw it a little bit far off where Michael Taffy was able to read him it was
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Some people said, you know, when I posted it on Twitter, I initially tried it and thought it as cover three, but it was more like a matchman covered three, because after five yards, almost everything is matchman at that point, right, especially on a single highlight.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jordan Brooks, he's not going to cover the zone because Jacob Rodriguez, he's carrying the hook curl, and the running back, you know, is coming to the flat.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Jordan Brooks is going to look like he's playing man match on that.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: on that specific play, right?
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: But the interception and the ball fell right into Michael Taffey's slap.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it leads me to this point, right?
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Rodriguez led the team with 14 tackles and he was pretty much the main contributor to Michael Taffey's interception, which was the single best defense play of the game for the Miami Dolphins hands down.
- 9:28[SPEAKER_01]: And it also helped where Rodriguez
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: Brooks, Taffy, and even Chris Johnson, the rookies, right, at least the main three rookies on defense that played, even the Carlos got hurt, they held that outside zone game to a negative point two eight three EPA allowed.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: Continuing in the exact trend, I've been talking all preseason, but they got gashed and inside zone because they played too much base defense with three
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: the execution did not happen on defense, especially on early rundowns.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I completely agree.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing is that on the alt-22, it's like rough, right?
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: It's rough to assign blame because you almost want to, you almost want to just, you know, just say, ah, you know, Willy Gay as the Sam is just not good enough.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that was the case.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: I thought at least for the first half.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Things changed in the second half.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_00]: In the first half, it was Jordan Phillips just getting absolutely annihilated by Tyler Linda Bob.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: You know, now that's not something that should get you, you know, discouraged about how good Jordan Phillips is going to be going forward.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's going to be fine.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: He's going to
- 10:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, did a number on him in this game, but I thought they got better in the second half, especially Zack Seeler who ramped up the Physicality in the second half like you could almost tell it like it was playing a lot angrier in the second half and
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Well, we talked about it on the pop today.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_00]: Those five, look at the first five drives, look at the last five drives.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Those last five drives, like Chris Kaufman used the word terrific.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_00]: Like that was terrific defense, the last five drives.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: The first five drives were an absolute disaster.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right, you know?
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we will talk about the game preview between the San Francisco 49ers.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: But we're going to head to break.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: Football season is here in Thursday, Saturday, Sundays, and Mondays just got way more interesting.

- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: And we are back.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: All right, move and pass the Raiders game.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: They are going back to the West Coast again, San Francisco.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_00]: Other staying out there, it seems like.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm staying out there.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, staying out there.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_00]: I thought they came back to Miami after the, and did their pressures there.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't think so.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: I saw Jeff Hathley was doing a zoom.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think they stayed out there.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, then that's pretty good.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Well, less travel, less logistics, and they can practice off over there on the West Coast.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: But they play a San Francisco 49-year-old nurse team who thumped the rounds in Melbourne.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: That offense looked really, really good.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, for the most part, most of the 49ers' offense was healthy, right?
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: Sixth in EPA, last season, third in success rate in 2025, they had the fifth highest EPA pass in the league, and they don't really need explosive plays to move the football.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: They don't miss.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: Trisha McAfrey, either backfield, as a receiver, but they're not as explosive.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_01]: they're able to move the chance kind of like how the Las Vegas Raiders did in week one.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and if you watch them play, that's why when we did our season preview, I circled four games that I felt terrible about, just because of how personal matchups are going to work, this is a team that is set up to attack those areas on the dolphins that they're necessarily that they're kind of weak at.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, here's the good news.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: I think the dolphins got a little bit
- 14:16[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the Raiders are more equipped to take advantage of the Miami Dolphins running the football in inside zone than the 49ers are currently.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_00]: But there's two phases to the game.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: The 49ers passing game is infinitely better than what the Raiders had to offer.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_00]: So that's where my fear comes.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_00]: They'll be able to stress pretty much every single zone on your defense.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_00]: They'll be able to stretch every unit.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_00]: They'll be able to stress your boundary, your safety, your deep coverage is, your linebackers, the flat.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: So, I'm not expecting, I have very, very low expectations and consider me extremely impressed by the defense that they could hold the 49ers to less than three touchdowns.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, when we specifically talk about the passing game, you know, Mike Evans, Debo Samuel, unfortunately, he's on stripply, what I have on my fantasy team, he's out.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: from month, but they got a good group of past catch-and-light receivers, obviously you can't forget George Kiddo and then CMC out of the backfield, and maybe even Catelyn Black as well.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: But there is one weakness, right, and it's not in the past, the game you mentioned was the run game.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McAfrey ranks 37th in the NFL in EPA per Rush in 2025, and he averages less than one yard per carry before contact.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and that's specifically on outside zone.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers specifically a wide zone outside zone team.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: We saw the banana motion by Kyle Juse's like, um, that also did not help as much in terms of their motions in their EPA.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they got a little bit of leverage early on in the first half, but
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: McFaze defense kind of pretty much saw was going on and stopped it and they went to look a little bit more inside zone power and gap heavy.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: on outside zone for Christian McAfrey.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: If they do try to continue to run that wide zone outside zone, you are as before contact it drops 2.63.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: So they need to make sure they tackle him and tackle him well outside on the edges.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they will be able to do that with Taffy Christians and Jordan Brooks and Jacob Rodriguez.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: and again, the passing defense is a concerning.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: They have to play discipline.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: They can't play desperate and it's not an explosive play offense, it's efficiency defense.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: And event don't break defense, that's a sound and coverage.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: It beats the defense trying to force one big stop.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I think they need to play a little bit more two shall save these rather than single high in this game.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: because if they fall into cover one, they are going to be trapped.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm against Mike Evans in the red zone.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be trapped against Christian McCaffrey out in the flats and they're going to be trapped against George Kittler.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and Brock Perti, you never hear a lot of people talk about Brock Perti and his arm talent, right?
- 17:28[SPEAKER_00]: The one thing Brock Perti absolutely does have, he has courage in how he reads defenses and he throws the ball.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_00]: And sometimes, you know, it gets him into trouble, right?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: Like a lot of times he's making some throws that everybody's like, what is he doing?
- 17:43[SPEAKER_00]: Well, what he's doing is he's trusting the play as designed and as
- 17:49[SPEAKER_00]: how Kyle Shannon drew it up for him, right?
- 17:52[SPEAKER_00]: So he's going to try things.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_00]: That's my fear.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_00]: If you play a lot of Covers 3, if you play a lot of Covers 3, as Miami does,
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: That leaves some holes, right?
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: That leaves some holes on, especially when you have corners that are not going to carry.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to play a lot of the flat because you have to play the flat against the 40 Niners.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: And that's going to leave a lot of space behind you.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_00]: And that's going to stress to save these greatly.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_00]: And that's something that the four, that the four.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_00]: that the raiders just could not do.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have that pass-catching talent to do that.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_00]: The 49ers do.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's the fear.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Jeff Hathley has to call a bit more quarters and cover six.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: And the dolphins best coverage against the raiders.
- 18:38[SPEAKER_00]: Let's cover four.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: and cover six.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't play a lot of cover two.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's just asking for mayhem and much more dink and dunk where they can be even way more efficient from the 49 honors, but you do well in cover six.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of the interceptions come from cover six in the NFL, right?
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: They you have a two and a half percent interception rate, which is about 1% more than most other coverage is traveling into that a little bit more.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: All right, now the 49ers defense, right?
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Bosa, he's healthy, Fred Warner is back.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: But there is a weakness there, elf.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not something a lot of people have been talking about.
- 19:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, one thing I've noticed about the 49ers is and look, they just, I don't know what was going on with Matthew Stafford, but
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: They're tackling and the flat has traditionally not been all that great.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: I do like their safeties, but they've downgraded in recent years at safety.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: One of them is in Denver, I believe, and the other one went to Jacksonville.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: So the two safeties that they had the last time that they were threatening for the Super Bowl, they're no longer there.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_00]: So,
- 19:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you think about it in that way, you're like, okay, let's throw the ball out in the flat to the Von H and Mr.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_00]: I see if we could break a tackle or two and get some cheap yardage, especially on first down and I think that's going to be part of the gameplay and they're going to need it because possession is going to be extremely important because I just, I just hate this matchup for the Dolphin's defense against the 49er offense.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think another thing that hasn't been spoken about is just how young and inexperienced the 49ers and tier defensive line is.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: Against the Rams, their run defense actually shrubble.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: Drake, Greenlaw, had some missed tackles.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: Grayson Hall in Rookiee, James Thompson, Jr., also Rookiee and CJOS, second year player.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: They all struggled up from without big Alfred Collins, who's still working back from injury.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: And what does that mean?
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if you got K&P proctor, you got you wanna save an IA?
- 20:52[SPEAKER_01]: Attack the interior, not the edges.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: Look, Fred Roland, Warner, Nick Bosa, two of the best offenders in football.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to force the issue on the edges.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the actual vulnerability for the four to nine years.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're interior defensive one.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: they're inexperienced.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: And dolphins showed on tape they couldn't get it done up against the raiders, edges and linebackers, especially on outside zone.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it hasn't really worked that well out in preseason.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: So you have to take them proctor for a reason.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: You also have Jonas Avaniah who was back in his right-guards spot, just lean towards a bit more gap, lean a bit more towards power as well that can isolate Grace and Hall in Tom's and Junior and CJ West directly.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: The way San Francisco's own interior got exposed up against the ramps.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: And then in the passing game,
- 21:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we know there have been some issues when they're doing true drop-back passing and if they're scoreboard pressure, Malik Willis had the most aggressive percent of passes just because of the scoreboard and he was throwing super duper deep.
- 21:58[SPEAKER_01]: don't test for a corner and man coverage or space.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: If you want a chain out there, you're going to have to scheme those touches for him especially in the flats.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: If you're looking at post routes, if you're looking at slants and inside breaking routes, they better be deep as heck where you're able to clear out and give the ball to Greg Dolcech around the middle of the field where the linebackers are dropping
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: and you can actually get chunk plays of five, six, seven yards underneath and really ding and dunk your weight throughout the field.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I completely agree.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's going to have to be a much more patient team against the the Ford Manors and
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're going to have to shorten the game because like I said, I think that there's they're up against it because the 49er offense is going to force this defense to play a lot of different coverages that we just haven't seen yet.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like they really just stayed and covered three for the most part against the against the Raiders because the room wasn't no danger, especially on the outside.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: I do like what this team has on the outside.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: in the 49ers, and quite frankly, I like this quarterback a lot better.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_00]: I think Brock Perty is infinitely better than Kirk Cousins.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: And he will try things that will stress your second there.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right, before we go, we are going to talk about the future of the fans.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: A new segment I like to call who sounds hot shots.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: Two names on the 20s, 27 board this week, and both of these guys fit.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Based on what the dolphins did in week one.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: First one is defensive tackle David Stone out of Oklahoma, right?
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: We saw the dolphin struggle without kind of kind of the grant in the run game and the defensive line did not get any push.
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: Six, three, around 310 pounds, junior out of Oklahoma.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: He had 42 tackles last year, eight tackles for loss and one and a half sacks.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: Consensus 5 Starguide rated number five will roll in Ashley in the 2024 class He's a true two-gap defensive tackle with the arm length and heavy hands to stack and shed blockers He can dominate centers and smaller cars and he can play every technique five four-eye three-tick two-eye one and even as a true nose
- 24:19[SPEAKER_00]: I haven't watched him play too much.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_00]: I saw the a little bit of that Michigan Oklahoma game and I saw that Oklahoma's trying to do the same thing that they always do, which is just as geometry or to save them.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_00]: And that wasn't that wasn't working.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I was between that game and watching Drew Mess to make her
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: actually play pretty damn well I can store again he didn't have the two interceptions but I thought he played pretty damn well I guess organ I was thoroughly entertained by that game yeah all right but last guy um i know last week we talked about edge material longer lately um we're talking about another edges where maybe later on in the draft now look
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: I think betting on Ohio State defensive lineman is a very, very easy money-making opportunity.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I think can yada Jackson Jr. is next in line.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: At least, that's what my friend Shayan Jairaja talks about, right?
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: six, five, six, six depending on what you want to see the measurements on ESPN or Ohio State's depth chart.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's pretty tall guy, 265 pounds, 78 inch wingspan, powerful, okay?
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: And he does have a Dolphins connection.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: his grandpa, Rudy Barber, played for the 1968 Miami Dolphins.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: Two uncles made the NFL, and he's from right here in South Florida, played at Shamanide, Madonna.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 25:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's got an awful bloodlines, okay?
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely with his grandpa in Miami and playing at Ohio State as well.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: His bull rush can walk back into your land for sure.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: And he's versatile enough to kick into that foretek on those passing downs.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: And he played every snap of Ohio State's 2024 national paddling.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you watch that game against Texas, man, he was noticeable.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_00]: And if you made a short list of the things that the secondary, this defense can use, obviously you can use a boundary corner, you can use more secondary help, of course.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: But number one is a guy that can play five tech that you can trust, that you can move around.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: From five to nine tech.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: and he's it, like he was noticeable in that game.
- 26:41[SPEAKER_00]: He popped all over the place, I've talked to, well I've talked to anybody really about him specifically, but I've done enough work on him to know that a lot of people are thinking of him as a day two prospect, as an early day two prospect.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_00]: What I saw is a guy that's just going to move himself up and he's going to be a first rounder when all of this is sent and it's the right pedigree right size just really nothing wrong with him if you watched him play against UT so yeah that's a good shot and
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: More reason the look for trade partners to get a bunch of picks, so maybe you could use two first round picks this coming in here.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing with him that you're going to have a knock on where he may not crack the top and are the first round, it's just his get off.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a very speedy speed rush guy, kind of like Chop Robinson.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's more of a power and length player.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to see his development throughout the season, how he handles and says to Edigens to run.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: Because that's a big, big thing.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_01]: My, I mean, we'll need on the outside too.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: All right, they were, they were mentioning him as some type of Rvel Rees clone.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I do not see that at all.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: No, no.
- 27:52[SPEAKER_00]: He is nowhere near that.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_00]: So I thought that the broadcast was way off on their assessment.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: All right, that's it for scouting the Finns through it.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: Stick with us here on the Thurasprecary podcast.
