Cyclosporiasis cases are surging nationwide, with over 145 reported between May and mid-June — a sharp spike from the usual annual total. Michigan alone saw 170 cases in just nine days, far exceeding its typical 50. Caused by the parasite Cyclospora cayatenensis, it spreads via contaminated food or water, often tied to fresh produce like lettuce, basil, and raspberries.
