Transcript
- 0:04Hello, welcome back to the episode of Bachelor.
- 0:06Lorenzi, how are you all doing? If you're doing great for
- 0:08today's episode, I want to talk about the Real Housewives of
- 0:11Patumak. Now look at me.
- 0:13I'm dressed, you know, representing the housewives fake
- 0:16hair check. Now, Wendy and her husband,
- 0:21Happy Eddie, these two people who we thought were like our
- 0:26representative, they're Nigerians.
- 0:29Their parents were 4th generation immigrants into the
- 0:31United States. I don't know if they were born
- 0:34there, but maybe they were born there.
- 0:38But they grew up. Wendy's a professor.
- 0:40She had 4°. She is a doctor, OK?
- 0:45And her husband Eddie is a lawyer.
- 0:48Wendy has done a whole lot of things.
- 0:51She is into political commentator, She's a professor
- 0:56lecturing, was lecturing at the university she has done and her
- 1:00husband Happy AD. He's just a go lucky guy.
- 1:04You know, he's always happy. That was why he was called Happy
- 1:06AD. Now, these two people decided to
- 1:09commit insurance fraud and allegedly what they did was that
- 1:13they got together, decided to travel because they don't want
- 1:17their kids to be in the house. So what they did, they travel to
- 1:20Mexico and after they got back, they called the police.
- 1:25They kind of ransacked the whole place to make you look as if
- 1:28there was a robbery. Then they called the police.
- 1:30The police came, they did an investigation and then they
- 1:32found out that. And then when they filed that
- 1:36report, they put through like 3 insurance claim, home insurance,
- 1:43travel insurance, contents insurance, which was totalling
- 1:47about $450,000. They said that some of their
- 1:53items were stolen. They said that Wendy's
- 1:56engagement ring or wedding bank was stolen, which was about
- 1:594500. They made a claim of about
- 2:02$25,000 from the travel agent or travel insurance company.
- 2:06And then the home insurance was denied.
- 2:10The contents insurance was also denied.
- 2:12But during the investigation, because I mean, we're talking
- 2:16about $450,000, obviously that triggered massive financial
- 2:23fraud, which most times FBI gets involved.
- 2:27When they did the investigation, they realised that Wendy, the
- 2:31items that she said was stolen, she bought them and then
- 2:35returned them. After she has made that report,
- 2:38the wedding band that she said was stolen, she was reimbursed
- 2:41by the travel agent. They saw those wedding bands.
- 2:45She she was pictured wearing the wedding band.
- 2:49Now I don't even know how these two people this how many degree
- 2:54at least six degree holding 2 individuals who claim to be very
- 2:58intelligent could decide to commit fraud and be this sloppy.
- 3:05Anyway, I saw a video on TikTok which kind of explained
- 3:08everything. So before I go into the whole
- 3:10gist of the matter, let me just play that video for you to see
- 3:13what she had to say. Potomac star Wendy Osefo and her
- 3:18husband Eddie Osefo were indicted by a grand jury, then
- 3:22arrested on 7 counts of insurance fraud, 8 counts of
- 3:26conspiracy insurance fraud, and one count of false statements to
- 3:29a police officer. And thanks to this reporter on
- 3:32Twitter, I was able to read the four page court docs.
- 3:35And I'm not a lawyer, but let me tell you what it says.
- 3:38So basically, back in April of 2024, Wendy and Eddie called
- 3:42police to report a burglary. They said they had just gotten
- 3:45back from a five day trip to Jamaica and upon arriving home
- 3:49they found their bedroom and closets ransacked and several
- 3:52designer bags and jewellery stolen.
- 3:54Now, at first glance, it appeared the perpetrators have
- 3:57gotten in the house through the window of the primary bathroom.
- 4:00However, Wendy and Eddie had the ADT Security Service plus a Ring
- 4:04camera and neither of those things detected anything.
- 4:08In camera was picking up some of their package deliveries that
- 4:11was happening while they were out of town, but it did not pick
- 4:13up any intruders. So after reporting this
- 4:16burglary, the couple filed multiple insurance claims, one
- 4:19with their home insurance, one with their jewellery insurance,
- 4:22and one with their travellers insurance.
- 4:24But it turns out the home insurance denied their claim
- 4:28because Eddie didn't tell them that he was also filing a claim
- 4:31with the travellers insurance. So that leaves Travellers
- 4:34Insurance and jewellery insurance.
- 4:36And the travellers insurance settled their claim giving them
- 4:39$25,380, which included about $4500 for Wendy's wedding band.
- 4:45The problem with that is in their first report to the
- 4:48insurance, they said Wendy was wearing her wedding band during
- 4:51her trip to Jamaica. But then Eddie called them back
- 4:54a couple days later and said you know what?
- 4:56She ain't have her wedding band on after all.
- 5:00So travellers insurance gets settled and that leaves the
- 5:03jewellery insurance. And to that insurance company,
- 5:06the couple provided a list of 57 stolen items, and that list
- 5:10included Wendy's wedding band that the Travellers Insurance
- 5:13had already given them money for.
- 5:16So for a number of different reasons, the police start
- 5:18getting suspicious about this whole burglary and these
- 5:21insurance claims. So they start investigating and
- 5:24they learn that some of the items Wendy and Eddie claim to
- 5:27have been stolen during the burglary were actually purchased
- 5:30and returned before the burglary.
- 5:33For example, there was a Dior shirt listed stolen, but based
- 5:36on store records, it showed that that shirt was returned back to
- 5:39the store on January 14, 2023. And again, this alleged burglary
- 5:44happened in April of 2024. There was also a Gucci leather
- 5:48wallet that was listed as stolen.
- 5:49But store records show that that leather wallet was purchased and
- 5:53returned in 2018. So in addition to reviewing
- 5:56store records, police also checked Wendy's Instagram
- 5:59account for any evidence. And on there they saw Wendy
- 6:02wearing her wedding band that was supposed to be stolen on her
- 6:05finger after the alleged burglary. 4° having Wendy, you
- 6:09knew better than that. Police also get access to Wendy
- 6:12and Eddie's e-mail accounts. And there they found an e-mail
- 6:15of Eddie be asking Wendy if there were, quote, additional
- 6:19high value items that they could add to the list like Chanel
- 6:22shoes, etcetera, because he was trying to exceed $423,000 of
- 6:26stolen items, which was their policy maximum.
- 6:29And so as a result of this investigation, the couple was
- 6:32arrested. And when they get arrested,
- 6:34police have a warrant to search their house.
- 6:37And there, they discovered about 15 more items in the house that
- 6:41was supposed to have been stolen in the burglary, according to
- 6:48the police. Their investigation also
- 6:50revealed that the couple is in substantial debt, which I'm
- 6:53taking to mean police are assuming that was their
- 6:55motivation for this alleged crime.
- 6:58Now, listen, this could be something other than what it
- 7:00seems could be. So try and hold your judgments
- 7:04until we see how this plays out. But my goodness.
- 7:11Now, I am not laughing at their downfall or their misfortune,
- 7:15but people try to keep up with the chances.
- 7:19I mean, Wendy started from, you know, she, she, she's, she's her
- 7:24parents are immigrants, Eddie's parents.
- 7:27Now the, the tea, the major tea is that Eddie's parents never
- 7:34wanted Eddie to marry Wendy. And I know right now, you know,
- 7:37Nigerian families, they're saying I told you so, I told you
- 7:41so. And according to reports,
- 7:43according to sources from Eddie's parents and they said
- 7:49that Wendy and her people were like money hungry, fame hungry,
- 7:55like they could do literally do anything for money because they
- 7:58all rolled in the same circle. And according to Wendy, herself
- 8:02and her mom and Eddie's mom were friends.
- 8:06They used to be friends. So Eddie's mom knew Wendy's mom
- 8:10very well. And then, you know, she knew the
- 8:13family. So she said never that her son
- 8:15is not going to marry Wendy because of because of the way
- 8:20the family is she, she or according to the brothers, they
- 8:24said that Wendy, they were like anything to do.
- 8:27They can do anything for money. Now, Eddie went ahead to get
- 8:31married Wendy. They had a very lavish wedding,
- 8:34but the parents, not even the siblings.
- 8:37The parents and the siblings were not at the wedding because
- 8:40they never supported the union. And Wendy and Eddie, they had
- 8:45about. They have about three children
- 8:47and only I think last season was when Eddie's sister was able to
- 8:55come to the house to see the kids.
- 8:58These kids are, I think, Eddie and Wendy, they've been married
- 9:02for at least over 12 years minimum.
- 9:07So for for them to be able to see like physically see the kids
- 9:12one time in at least 12 years, that is ridiculous.
- 9:17But that goes to show how deep whatever animosity between
- 9:22Wendy's mom and Eddie's mom is. Now as a Nigerian and as an
- 9:32immigrant, it is very easy to keep up with the insurances.
- 9:36It is very easy to try to play the card of oh, I'm very
- 9:40successful, I am here, I've done first degree, second degree.
- 9:45I'm a doctor, my husband is a lawyer.
- 9:48It's very easy to play into that.
- 9:51Now, the difference between, let's say if a natural born
- 9:58citizen is that they don't have all those ties, you don't have
- 10:02cousins calling you to beg you for money.
- 10:04You don't have to show, you don't have to brag.
- 10:07But I think because you know, the first generation immigrants
- 10:11giving births, even if you don't want to do it, your parents will
- 10:14kind of push you to do certain things to say my daughter is
- 10:18successful or my son is successful.
- 10:20So the pressure, I can't understand the pressure.
- 10:24But when they have a chip on her shoulder, looking at The Real
- 10:30Housewives of Potomac, I have my favourites.
- 10:33And Wendy was never one of them just because of the way she
- 10:36carries herself. You know, season 1, she was
- 10:39like, well, I have 4°, I'm a doctor.
- 10:42She just LED with that. And speaking to Wendy, yeah,
- 10:46she's intelligent, but you could tell she's not smart because
- 10:50somebody that is smart could tell that, OK, there are certain
- 10:53things you you don't, yes, you want to show yourself.
- 10:56Yes, you want to she, she has a main character syndrome because
- 11:00when another Nigerian joined the show, NECA, hey, Wendy and her
- 11:05mother, literally the way they treated that girl or that Lady
- 11:10on that show was was appalling because these are two Nigerians.
- 11:15These are two Ebo girls that could have, you know,
- 11:18represented that could have been best.
- 11:20OK, don't even be friends in real life, but once the camera
- 11:25is on, you could pretend. I mean, you could, you could I
- 11:29understand, you know, you need to do the storyline of, you
- 11:34know, all those you could have chosen different.
- 11:38Neca was crashing out because she she felt that the way and
- 11:43she said that was, you know, not even on the on camera, but off
- 11:47camera. The way Wendy and her mother was
- 11:50treating her was really she, she was, she wasn't having it.
- 11:53And then I think when you also have this thing of she wants to
- 11:56be the main, you know, person kind of, and I'm like, this is
- 12:03just ridiculous, you know, like don't do that.
- 12:08And then she wants to keep up with the Joneses.
- 12:10There are so many women, you know, Giselle, Ashley and all
- 12:15that. They just lived normal lives.
- 12:19They were not flashy. They were not trying to show
- 12:23Wendy got on that show as a normal person but Wendy had a
- 12:27boob job did the BBL had like she snipped talk.
- 12:34Her face has changed a lot since she joined the show because she
- 12:41was trying to keep up this season.
- 12:43I watched them the a couple of the episodes and Wendy was
- 12:48saying, oh, she wants to like get a marble.
- 12:51She was just showing it's not necessary.
- 12:54You could talk about any other thing.
- 12:56But she's just trying to be controversial just for the sake
- 13:00of being controversial. And I don't even know how she's
- 13:04going to come out of this because her husband is a lawyer.
- 13:07I mean, just imagine a doctor and a lawyer planning to
- 13:14defraud, planning insurance fraud and emailing each other,
- 13:21just leaving trails of evidence. I don't know.
- 13:26What do you think? Do you think that's Wendy got
- 13:31because they said they had money troubles so maybe they were
- 13:34trying to cash in on insurance money to to support their
- 13:37whatever business. Wendy is a serial entrepreneur.
- 13:41And one of the challenges with that is if you don't have steady
- 13:44income to kind of balance all those things, you are going to
- 13:48cry premium tears. Premium tears.
- 13:51She didn't have to quit her job because she started doing
- 13:54candles. She started a YouTube channel
- 13:57and all these things take time to grow.
- 13:59I looked at her YouTube page and she was averaging about 5000
- 14:03views per video. And I'm like, ah, she has a
- 14:10whole a whole production. It's easier when you're just
- 14:13sitting down talking. You have a camera in front of
- 14:16you, a microphone in front of you.
- 14:19You talk about whatever you want to talk about.
- 14:21When you have a team that you have to pay that expenses will
- 14:26catch up with you. And YouTube is not something
- 14:29that you do want a year. It's something that you have to
- 14:31constantly do and for her to constantly hair, makeup,
- 14:36wardrobe, camera crew, everybody.
- 14:40You have the editors and everything that will cost you a
- 14:43whole bunch of money. So I don't know, do you think
- 14:46that Wendy got Wendy and her husband got caught up in this
- 14:49whole lifestyle of the Real Housewives franchise and got way
- 14:56above their necks, or do you think that they've always been
- 14:59like that? Because I believe I always tell
- 15:01people, listen, whatever the husband is doing, the wife is
- 15:05very much aware. Or whatever the wife is doing,
- 15:07the husband is very much aware. Like the blue cloth bandit
- 15:11situation, They said, oh, the wife is not aware.
- 15:13She she said she's not aware. Or some wives that will say, oh,
- 15:16they're not aware of what their husbands are doing.
- 15:18Lies. You're only complaining because
- 15:22it's no longer benefiting you. That's it.
- 15:27Whoever you choose to marry, whatever the outcome is, you
- 15:30have to chest the foot of foot chest.
- 15:32You see that? You join the game and become
- 15:34Bonnie and Clyde like Wendy. Or you choose right.
- 15:41Well, people would rather choose wrong than right because you
- 15:43know, my husband, my husband. What do you think?
- 15:50Thank you very much for watching this episode.
- 15:52Please like, like, like and share.
- 15:53Thank you very much for watching.
- 15:54Bye bye.
