- 1:03Speaker 6: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:38Speaker 2: We've had a doozy of a day.
- 1:39Speaker 4: A real doozy. What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown.
- 1:51Speaker 4: I'm Ryan. I'm Misty.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I'm Jay.
- 1:54Speaker 4: And we're coming to you live via digital recording from
- 1:57Speaker 4: inside the vehicle.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Woo!
- 1:59Speaker 4: It's coming from inside your car. So we're heading back
- 2:02Speaker 4: from Lexington, Kentucky, home of Scarefest, our longest running one.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It has been so many years.
- 2:08Speaker 4: It has been so many years that at this point
- 2:11Speaker 4: it's just ingrained into our system. It's October, somewhere in
- 2:15Speaker 4: that vicinity, time to head to Scarefest.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I don't think I went last year, but I went
- 2:19Speaker 2: back this year and it was a lot. Did I
- 2:21Speaker 2: go last year?
- 2:22Speaker 4: You went last year. I did go last year. The
- 2:23Speaker 4: year before you were out of town, I went and
- 2:27Speaker 4: it was no fun because nobody was there. So, luckily
- 2:29Speaker 4: this year, we went. And it was all good.
- 2:31Speaker 2: And it was fantastic.
- 2:32Speaker 4: It was. Do we want to jump right to our people?
- 2:36Speaker 2: OMG. I was so excited. Because usually it takes a
- 2:40Speaker 2: lot to get me into a large crowd these days.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Because people. But I saw that Tyler Labine was going
- 2:45Speaker 2: to be there. And I'm like, I am there. Because
- 2:48Speaker 2: I love most of the things he's done. Everything of
- 2:52Speaker 2: his that I've seen, I have loved. I mean, aside
- 2:55Speaker 2: from Tucker and Dale vs. Evil Reaper. One of my favorites.
- 2:59Speaker 2: Absolutely best. It's the best show ever.
- 3:01Speaker 4: Fantastic.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Deadbeat. Amazing. There's another one that he did about seeing
- 3:05Speaker 2: ghosts too, but I don't remember which one that one
- 3:07Speaker 2: was called. But he was super excited and I showed
- 3:10Speaker 2: him my tattoo from Reaper and he took a picture.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I don't know if he was going to send it
- 3:15Speaker 2: to Ray Wise or just put it on his Instagram.
- 3:17Speaker 4: I don't know. He was going to put it on
- 3:18Speaker 4: his stories or his feed or one of those things
- 3:21Speaker 4: on the old Instagram.
- 3:22Speaker 2: He was super nice though. Yeah, he was like one
- 3:26Speaker 2: of the friendliest people.
- 3:28Speaker 4: He seemed very nice. The other thing, again, aside from
- 3:32Speaker 4: all the super geeky things, I don't watch medical shows.
- 3:36Speaker 4: But I think because I saw the promos beforehand and
- 3:40Speaker 4: saw he was on that New Amsterdam, I think I
- 3:43Speaker 4: turned it on like that first episode. He's really good
- 3:46Speaker 4: on it. Like it's a pretty entertaining show anyway, as
- 3:49Speaker 4: much as I'm not really into mostly crazy hospital shows.
- 3:52Speaker 4: But like that one had kind of a different take
- 3:54Speaker 4: on it. And, like, his character was very different from
- 3:58Speaker 4: what you normally see him do. He was, like, a grown-up. And, like,
- 4:01Speaker 4: he was doing, like, pretty, again, dramatic stuff, but kind
- 4:05Speaker 4: of with his own Tyler spin on it. So, like,
- 4:08Speaker 4: it seemed very genuine to him. But, yeah, he's really
- 4:11Speaker 4: good on New Hampshire.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Because he always does seem like the big goof, you know?
- 4:15Speaker 2: And it's, like, that's what I love about him. Everything,
- 4:17Speaker 2: but he's just so funny and just so, like, I
- 4:20Speaker 2: want to hang out with that guy. He's a lovable dude.
- 4:22Speaker 2: That guy seems pretty cool.
- 4:24Speaker 4: A lovable guy.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And he was wearing a sweater? And I'm like, dude,
- 4:27Speaker 2: how are you wearing a sweater? It's, like, really hot
- 4:29Speaker 2: in here.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Well, I mean, it's technically.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I guess if you're as cool as he is... Ah,
- 4:35Speaker 2: see what I did there.
- 4:37Speaker 4: It's technically. In the future, when you're listening to this,
- 4:40Speaker 4: it could be November by the time this shows up,
- 4:42Speaker 4: but we're in October. We're pre-Halloween time, so, you know,
- 4:46Speaker 4: it should be cold.
- 4:47Speaker 2: We're in the best time of the year. The best time.
- 4:49Speaker 4: If the Earth wasn't, you know, boiling and going to
- 4:53Speaker 4: self-destruct at any moment, but normally it should be cold
- 4:55Speaker 4: at this point. So he was probably just dressing for
- 4:57Speaker 4: like he thought it should be. It's like he's out
- 5:01Speaker 4: in the middle of a country somewhere. It's October.
- 5:03Speaker 2: He wants more layers to protect him from nerds like me.
- 5:06Speaker 4: That's true. He's got to get the nerd cooties away
- 5:08Speaker 4: from him. So that's for the best, really.
- 5:10Speaker 2: He's looking good. I'm not going to lie. He's like,
- 5:14Speaker 2: I checked his Instagram. Apparently he's been hitting the gym.
- 5:17Speaker 2: I don't know. But I mean, yeah, he's definitely like,
- 5:22Speaker 2: Not that he was like a problem of size, but
- 5:26Speaker 2: I'm just saying he's definitely like changed. Mm-hmm.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Slimming down, looking good.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Seems very friendly to everybody that we saw him interact with.
- 5:35Speaker 2: He seemed very friendly.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Yeah, he seemed like he kind of enjoys the process,
- 5:38Speaker 4: which not everybody that does those things does.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Maybe he hasn't done that many of them, so it's
- 5:42Speaker 2: still okay.
- 5:43Speaker 4: That could be it. You never know. Some people get
- 5:46Speaker 4: burnt out.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That could be why the person you got in line
- 5:49Speaker 2: for was as friendly as she was.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Yeah, this is like a new thing. On the other hand, like,
- 5:54Speaker 4: leading into mine are Angela from the official Sleepaway Camp
- 6:02Speaker 4: photo that I have here. Now, I don't have Angela's photo,
- 6:05Speaker 4: but we rounded the corner, and I was like, what
- 6:07Speaker 4: is this whole bunch of people standing in the way?
- 6:09Speaker 4: Of course, it's her. So she's one of those that's
- 6:13Speaker 4: been doing maybe Scarefest every year. Like, she's a regular. Like,
- 6:16Speaker 4: she's been at Scarefest a lot of years. Felicia Rose? Yes.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Yes, she's amazing.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Our friend, Phyllisa Rose, previous guest on the show. And,
- 6:26Speaker 4: but she's one of those, like, she was so excited still. Like, that's,
- 6:30Speaker 4: those are the ones that, like, impress me. Because, I mean, like,
- 6:33Speaker 4: she has been doing this a good portion of her
- 6:35Speaker 4: life now. And, like, she is still, like, excited to
- 6:39Speaker 4: be there with these people that are always, like, so
- 6:41Speaker 4: happy to see her. But, like, You know, I would
- 6:44Speaker 4: think after a while you might get burnt out.
- 6:46Speaker 2: You think you'd get tired of making that face. Yeah.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I mean, she is always just so excited to be
- 6:51Speaker 4: there and so happy to see people. And she makes
- 6:54Speaker 4: the face for you. If you want to pose for
- 6:56Speaker 4: a photo, I've seen 10 billion versions on her Instagram.
- 6:59Speaker 4: She will do the face for you every time.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I would expect no less. I mean, why else would
- 7:04Speaker 2: you bother?
- 7:06Speaker 4: I've talked to Felista many years ago. And then I
- 7:09Speaker 4: had her on the show. I took a photo with her.
- 7:11Speaker 4: She made the face. So then I was like, it's
- 7:14Speaker 4: a shame because I've seen her a whole lot of
- 7:16Speaker 4: times over the years. But I've never seen, obviously, everyone's
- 7:20Speaker 4: other favorite character in the movie, Judy.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Judy of the miraculous, it's just the marvelous, the wonder
- 7:28Speaker 2: and joy that is the sideways ponytail.
- 7:30Speaker 4: I mean, it's amazing. And who else is cool enough
- 7:33Speaker 4: to wear their name on their shirt? Her own name
- 7:36Speaker 4: right there on her shirt. Just in case you need
- 7:37Speaker 4: to know, it's Judy.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I literally pulled my hair into a sideways ponytail just
- 7:41Speaker 2: to see if I could pull it off for today.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And I could not. So I didn't.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Can anybody do it as well as Judy?
- 7:47Speaker 2: No.
- 7:47Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 7:49Speaker 2: But I didn't do it with a scrunchie. So maybe
- 7:51Speaker 2: if I had like a scrunchie.
- 7:51Speaker 4: They were selling scrunchies there. You should have grabbed some.
- 7:55Speaker 2: I've got a Bucky's scrunchie.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Thank you very much. Man, you should have done it
- 7:58Speaker 4: and then sideways ponytail and been like.
- 8:00Speaker 2: It's me.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I'm Judy. And she'd be like, no, I'm Judy. Judy, fight.
- 8:06Speaker 4: But over the years, I had never seen her doing things.
- 8:13Speaker 4: I've been to many a convention. I'm like, no, I
- 8:15Speaker 4: don't know. So I guess she just doesn't want to.
- 8:18Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden this year, I started
- 8:20Speaker 4: seeing postings further out in the country.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Oh, man. It's the 40th year anniversary.
- 8:26Speaker 4: 40th anniversary of the most scarring movie for most children
- 8:29Speaker 4: in the world.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Well, I didn't see it when I was a child,
- 8:31Speaker 2: so I mean, I was just scarred.
- 8:33Speaker 4: I managed to ride quite a while without finding out
- 8:37Speaker 4: the special.
- 8:39Speaker 2: See, I managed to make it until I actually saw it.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I had never heard of it, which is weird because
- 8:44Speaker 2: you think usually everybody spoils everything. You know everything before
- 8:49Speaker 2: it happens when it comes to movies. You know the end.
- 8:51Speaker 2: You know the twist. You know what's going on.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Most of the time these days, yep.
- 8:56Speaker 2: And for this one being an older movie, because it
- 8:57Speaker 2: came out, what, late 70s, early 80s?
- 9:00Speaker 4: I think early 80s, yeah. Early 80s?
- 9:03Speaker 2: Anyways, I had not... I didn't know that was coming.
- 9:06Speaker 4: I knew of the title. I knew it was slashery
- 9:10Speaker 4: and horror, but I still didn't know the specifics. And
- 9:13Speaker 4: I sat down, and I got most of the way through,
- 9:15Speaker 4: and I'm like, yeah, you know, kind of like Friday
- 9:17Speaker 4: the 13th.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Oh, no, it's not.
- 9:19Speaker 4: No, it's not. This is not like Friday the 13th
- 9:22Speaker 4: at all.
- 9:22Speaker 2: How about you, boyfriend? Did you know the end before
- 9:24Speaker 2: you saw the movie?
- 9:26Speaker 7: No.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Man of many words. but it's just very rare these
- 9:33Speaker 2: days that you see a movie that the ending has
- 9:35Speaker 2: not yet been spoiled for.
- 9:36Speaker 4: You that's always my favorite when people are like kind
- 9:40Speaker 4: of talking about it we had one on the show
- 9:42Speaker 4: recently that like just recently saw it and also didn't
- 9:46Speaker 4: know the I was like oh so you didn't know
- 9:49Speaker 4: going in they were like nope I was like oh
- 9:51Speaker 4: god how are you are you okay did you know did.
- 9:55Speaker 2: You recover see not only did I not know that
- 9:57Speaker 2: there was I didn't know that there was going to
- 9:58Speaker 2: be something that I didn't know Yeah.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I mean, it wasn't even like, it wasn't the normal
- 10:03Speaker 4: going in like, well, till you get to the twist,
- 10:05Speaker 4: this thing's free. But, yeah, that one just blindsided. Like, just,
- 10:09Speaker 4: should we say, smacked upside the face with it. Yeah. But, yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 4: did not see it coming.
- 10:13Speaker 2: And there was one of those on her table, by
- 10:16Speaker 2: the way.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, now I don't know how you could
- 10:18Speaker 4: go to a convention and not kind of, maybe not
- 10:22Speaker 4: 100% know, but, like, the face is everywhere. People are
- 10:25Speaker 4: wearing the shirts with the face. She's selling the face. So, like,
- 10:28Speaker 4: if you know what we're talking about, you know what
- 10:29Speaker 4: we're talking about. If not, don't know what we're talking about.
- 10:32Speaker 4: Go in blind and go watch it right now. And
- 10:34Speaker 4: then come back and listen to us ramble some more.
- 10:38Speaker 2: It's a great movie.
- 10:39Speaker 4: But yes, Karen Fields is the aforementioned Judy.
- 10:43Speaker 2: It was marvelous in her bitchiness.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Oh my gosh. She bills herself as the original mean girl.
- 10:49Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh yeah. Definitely. Well before mean girls
- 10:52Speaker 4: was a thing.
- 10:53Speaker 2: She's such a Judy.
- 10:54Speaker 4: Judy was being a Judy. But not at all in
- 10:58Speaker 4: the real world.
- 10:59Speaker 2: No, she was super sweet.
- 11:00Speaker 4: We talked to her. She was very nice. And I
- 11:02Speaker 4: was like, I haven't seen you doing these. She was like, yep.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Came out for the 40th anniversary. She was very cool.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Although she did write fuck off on my pictures. But again,
- 11:13Speaker 4: if you've seen the movie, it's very fitting of Judy.
- 11:15Speaker 4: But not Karen. She was very nice.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Tyler Labine wrote, don't call me Bert on my photos.
- 11:23Speaker 2: He didn't like being called Bert.
- 11:26Speaker 4: The entire time you kept calling him Bert.
- 11:28Speaker 2: He's so nice.
- 11:30Speaker 4: He was super excited that you yourself were connected to Ray.
- 11:36Speaker 2: He's technically connected to me.
- 11:38Speaker 4: He's attached to you.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:40Speaker 4: She does have a version of Ray Wise attached to
- 11:43Speaker 4: her right there on her arm.
- 11:44Speaker 2: He's my right hand man.
- 11:45Speaker 4: She can tell you, but you know, it's audio.
- 11:47Speaker 2: So if you want to see it, Tyler Labine might
- 11:50Speaker 2: be posting it.
- 11:52Speaker 4: According to what he said. But yeah, he was excited
- 11:55Speaker 4: and he wanted to take a picture of your tattoo
- 11:57Speaker 4: of Ray. And then I was like, Ray also took
- 11:59Speaker 4: a picture of it, but I didn't say that. I
- 12:00Speaker 4: was trying not to interrupt you. I was trying to
- 12:02Speaker 4: keep my geek on the, on the down low and
- 12:05Speaker 4: just let you have your moment and not interrupt him.
- 12:07Speaker 4: You're like, but Ray was also super excited when he
- 12:09Speaker 4: saw it.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I know. He took a picture of it as well.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Although he never posted it on any of the medias
- 12:14Speaker 2: that I know of.
- 12:15Speaker 4: I don't know if he said he was going to, though.
- 12:16Speaker 2: No, he didn't.
- 12:17Speaker 4: I think he just wanted to keep it for himself.
- 12:19Speaker 4: Sometimes he just, late at night, he gets it out
- 12:21Speaker 4: and be like, ah, look at me on that girl's arm.
- 12:24Speaker 4: I am so cool.
- 12:25Speaker 2: He is.
- 12:25Speaker 4: And he's right. He is. He's super cool. Which is
- 12:27Speaker 4: kind of what Tyler said as well. He said he's
- 12:30Speaker 4: still in contact with him.
- 12:31Speaker 2: This guy. And I'm like, you mean this guy?
- 12:34Speaker 4: You're like, yes, that guy. He's on me forever.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Yeah, y'all. Seriously, if you all have not seen Reaper,
- 12:43Speaker 2: make it your life's mission. Watch Reaper. Enjoy it. Because
- 12:46Speaker 2: it's magnificent. I mean, seriously, that is just like... I mean,
- 12:50Speaker 2: how could you go wrong with Ray Wise as the devil?
- 12:53Speaker 4: I mean, it seems very fitting to me.
- 12:54Speaker 2: It is, and he's so charismatic, and he's just so like... Oh,
- 12:58Speaker 2: you know, he's just.
- 12:59Speaker 4: He's awesome. He's the best thing ever. He is.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And then Tyler the Bean is just hilarious. Always.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Always.
- 13:07Speaker 2: And then... The main guy. He's just kind of there.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I'm assuming he's done other stuff.
- 13:13Speaker 4: Usually when you're the main guy, you've got to be
- 13:16Speaker 4: the most boring because you're just there to kind of
- 13:18Speaker 4: hold it. You're the glue that kind of holds the
- 13:20Speaker 4: rest of the cool characters together.
- 13:21Speaker 2: It's not like he's boring. When you're in a show
- 13:25Speaker 2: with Ray Wise and Tyler Labine.
- 13:27Speaker 4: You're going to be in the shadows.
- 13:29Speaker 2: But he's still awesome. It's an amazing show. So, everybody
- 13:33Speaker 2: out there, watch Reaper. It's awesome. It's on DVD. I
- 13:36Speaker 2: don't think it's on Blu-ray.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 13:37Speaker 4: It's on DVD.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I don't know if they have any streaming services. I
- 13:39Speaker 2: could have looked in that, but I didn't. But look
- 13:41Speaker 2: it up. Watch it. Awesome stuff. You're welcome. Watch it. Please.
- 13:47Speaker 4: Don't want to make you demand.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 13:49Speaker 4: What was the... I was supposed to remind you of Annabelle.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Just, I don't know. I don't care if Annabelle. And
- 13:56Speaker 2: I'm just like, what the hell did I just hear?
- 13:59Speaker 4: Someone frightened by... We were trying to gauge what was
- 14:02Speaker 4: going on with those random people that walked past us
- 14:04Speaker 4: and were Was she super scared of Annabelle?
- 14:07Speaker 2: Or was she super excited?
- 14:09Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 14:12Speaker 4: But she also seemed like she drove out from the
- 14:14Speaker 4: country to go see some Annabelles.
- 14:18Speaker 2: The girl in line in front of us at Tyler
- 14:19Speaker 2: Labine's table drove all the way from Cincinnati, Ohio just
- 14:21Speaker 2: to see Tyler Labine.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Well, that's a good move to make.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:26Speaker 4: Let's see. We also saw many people in costume. I'm
- 14:29Speaker 4: still trying to figure out the connection because I saw
- 14:32Speaker 4: several versions of of our main crew from Little Shop
- 14:37Speaker 4: of Horrors. There's a Seymour, and then Audrey 1, and
- 14:42Speaker 4: Cajunly Caring, and Audrey 2.
- 14:44Speaker 2: I saw somebody dressed as Audrey 2.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Well, I saw at least two different couples, because Audrey
- 14:50Speaker 4: was wearing two different outfits. So I know I saw
- 14:53Speaker 4: two different versions of her outfits from the movie, and
- 14:56Speaker 4: Seymour's always just kind of his nerdy self. But maybe
- 14:59Speaker 4: three different times? And then I'm trying to figure out. Like,
- 15:01Speaker 4: I even was looking through the list. It's like, I
- 15:03Speaker 4: don't know. obviously most of the main actors are like
- 15:06Speaker 4: giant stars or retired or dead now so I'm like
- 15:10Speaker 4: I don't think any of them are here so I
- 15:12Speaker 4: was trying to figure out effects I'm like did Tom
- 15:14Speaker 4: Savini work on it.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Make a puppet version of Audrey.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Or did Greg Nicotero work on it and make some
- 15:20Speaker 4: sort of weird puppet or something I don't know I
- 15:23Speaker 4: scrolled through the thing I don't see them working on
- 15:25Speaker 4: it either so I'm not sure what the connection was
- 15:27Speaker 4: or why people had it in their heads to be
- 15:31Speaker 4: I mean No complaints. There's a few things I love
- 15:33Speaker 4: more than Little Shop of Horrors, so more power to you.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Dress like the power couple that is Seymour and Audrey.
- 15:39Speaker 2: Audrey too.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Are there other costumes of some sort?
- 15:45Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm still trying to look up the
- 15:47Speaker 2: list and see if I recognize anybody. Anything that she
- 15:52Speaker 2: would have been from that. I knew David Arquette was there,
- 15:56Speaker 2: but I didn't actually see him with my eyeballs.
- 15:59Speaker 4: I did round a corner. And I saw that Osborne kid.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Jack Osborne?
- 16:05Speaker 4: Jack Osborne. He looked right at me. I was like, hey,
- 16:09Speaker 4: that's that guy from that TV show I watched a
- 16:10Speaker 4: long time ago and didn't really watch that many episodes of.
- 16:14Speaker 4: He also seems very svelte these days. Everybody's looking good.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Isn't he got like MS now?
- 16:19Speaker 4: That could be part of it.
- 16:20Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't think that's like the reason
- 16:23Speaker 2: behind it.
- 16:23Speaker 4: I don't know if that's the plan to go on.
- 16:25Speaker 2: No, I'm just saying. I thought he was like sick,
- 16:28Speaker 2: you know?
- 16:29Speaker 4: I don't know. He looked good today.
- 16:31Speaker 2: I didn't see him. I saw Dylan McDermott. Whatever.
- 16:35Speaker 4: He was a rock star.
- 16:36Speaker 2: He looked like a douche.
- 16:38Speaker 4: He had sunglasses on. He ain't Corey Hart. We were inside.
- 16:42Speaker 4: It's not necessarily night yet, but we were inside.
- 16:44Speaker 2: He could have been the nicest guy ever.
- 16:46Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 16:47Speaker 2: He might be.
- 16:47Speaker 4: He seems fine. I've liked him in many performances. I
- 16:51Speaker 4: would be up for hanging out with him, but he
- 16:53Speaker 4: did not seem thrilled to be there at the moment.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Maybe he's got things going on.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Could be it. We all have stuff. I have stuff
- 17:00Speaker 4: right now. Try not to think about it. Power through.
- 17:04Speaker 2: I have been watching. I did go back and watch
- 17:06Speaker 2: some more American Horror Story. Actually, take that back. I've
- 17:09Speaker 2: been watching American Horror Stories. Stories. Did I talk about that?
- 17:13Speaker 2: Have I talked about that already?
- 17:15Speaker 4: Like a long time ago, but I don't know.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Like the anthology series? Not necessarily like American Horror Story,
- 17:21Speaker 2: like the season long arc. They have like more of
- 17:24Speaker 2: an anthology series.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Are these like newer seasons or now? I'm not even sure.
- 17:29Speaker 2: I didn't even know they existed until I was on
- 17:31Speaker 2: Hulu or whatever looking for other things. Probably looking for
- 17:35Speaker 2: the new season that has Emma Roberts because I love
- 17:37Speaker 2: Emma Roberts.
- 17:37Speaker 4: I am down with some Emma Roberts.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Which her season of American Horror Story has been terrifying
- 17:42Speaker 2: in the wrong reasons because it involves pregnancy and ew.
- 17:48Speaker 4: While we're talking about people we follow on Instagram, Emma
- 17:50Speaker 4: Roberts is adorable in all of her feed. And she
- 17:53Speaker 4: gets like side projects with people like for clothes or
- 17:57Speaker 4: makeup or something and i don't know she always looks
- 17:59Speaker 4: amazing always follow emma because she always.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Looks good emma roberts emma roberts american horror stories which
- 18:07Speaker 2: i i love more than american horror story because it's
- 18:10Speaker 2: more anthology but it's got um little baby cindy crawford
- 18:15Speaker 2: jr on.
- 18:16Speaker 4: There oh man she looks so much like her mom.
- 18:18Speaker 2: It's not funny there's no there I'm not even sure
- 18:20Speaker 2: she has a dad. I'm pretty sure she's just 100%
- 18:22Speaker 2: cloned from her mother.
- 18:23Speaker 4: Yeah, it might be. They're working on those clonings. They
- 18:26Speaker 4: made a sheep, and then they made Cindy Crawford Jr.
- 18:28Speaker 2: She's gorgeous.
- 18:30Speaker 4: Amazing.
- 18:30Speaker 2: And it's got Parrish Jackson, and she's gorgeous.
- 18:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know that that's a cloning. I don't
- 18:35Speaker 4: know how it happened exactly.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I'm not even sure what was entailed.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Not sure he was involved at all, but.
- 18:40Speaker 2: She's gorgeous.
- 18:41Speaker 4: She is gorgeous, so good for her.
- 18:43Speaker 2: But yeah, the first two episodes kind of tie together,
- 18:45Speaker 2: but then... This is, like, way derailed from the entire
- 18:48Speaker 2: where we were at in the podcast.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I don't even.
- 18:51Speaker 2: Donald... Ronald... Donald. Donald McDermott. Ronald Mc... What am I doing? Dylan.
- 18:55Speaker 4: McDonald, because you're getting those buckets. You're obsessed with buckets.
- 18:58Speaker 4: I am. Side tangent. She's obsessed with buckets.
- 19:01Speaker 2: McDonald's has their boo buckets, and I need all the
- 19:03Speaker 2: boo buckets, because I'm obsessive and whatever. But, yeah. Dylan McDermott.
- 19:08Speaker 2: He's been in several... He's been with the American Horror Stories,
- 19:11Speaker 2: and he seems like a nice enough guy, and I just.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Watch American Horror Stories.
- 19:16Speaker 4: It's good. So is that what you've been watching since...
- 19:22Speaker 4: It's been a while since we talked. So, you know,
- 19:24Speaker 4: what have you guys been watching?
- 19:25Speaker 2: I've been watching American Horror Stories. And American Horror Story,
- 19:29Speaker 2: the newest season with Emma Roberts. So I've been kind
- 19:31Speaker 2: of like switching them, you know. Because it's one of
- 19:34Speaker 2: those where they only have one... They don't drop them
- 19:36Speaker 2: all at once. They have like an episode a week.
- 19:38Speaker 4: You have to watch it like television.
- 19:40Speaker 2: Oh my God. How did we survive?
- 19:42Speaker 4: I don't know. I almost, like, it's not as overwhelming
- 19:46Speaker 4: that way. Like, it's nice if you have time to,
- 19:49Speaker 4: you know, burn through five or six episodes in a run.
- 19:51Speaker 4: But I usually don't. So I'm like, sometimes I like
- 19:53Speaker 4: when I can just space it out.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Then you have so much time to lose interest or forget.
- 19:57Speaker 4: But then I'm watching a different thing. So you have
- 19:59Speaker 4: to get, like, four or five of them. And then
- 20:01Speaker 4: throughout the week, you just watch the, oh, the new
- 20:03Speaker 4: episode of whatever the hell is on on Thursdays. I'll
- 20:05Speaker 4: watch it now. You just got to pace yourself.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Schedule.
- 20:10Speaker 4: It's all good.
- 20:12Speaker 2: But, yeah, the new episode of American Horror Story, it
- 20:14Speaker 2: is American because it's pregnant. And, like, the whole, like,
- 20:16Speaker 2: intro sequence, whatever it's called, like, the title cards and all, like,
- 20:20Speaker 2: the intro, there's, like, pregnant babies. Like, not pregnant babies.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Babies having babies.
- 20:26Speaker 2: There's pregnant bellies. Like, it's moving around.
- 20:29Speaker 4: Creepy.
- 20:30Speaker 2: That's, like, literally no thank you. Hard pass. I saw it. Like,
- 20:34Speaker 2: the first, I barely made it through the first time
- 20:36Speaker 2: I saw that intro. Every other time, I'm, like, staring
- 20:38Speaker 2: at my phone. See?
- 20:40Speaker 4: You're going skip intro?
- 20:41Speaker 2: Yes. Yes. It's not giving me the option to skip intro.
- 20:44Speaker 4: It's a horror story. I know. They're forcing you to
- 20:47Speaker 4: watch the horror.
- 20:49Speaker 2: But I am like, I think I'll definitely watch the
- 20:52Speaker 2: entire first season of American Horror Stories. I don't know
- 20:56Speaker 2: if the one I watched last night with the dolls,
- 20:58Speaker 2: like the little dollhouse, I don't know if that was
- 20:59Speaker 2: the second season or not, but it was fantastic. Should
- 21:03Speaker 2: we go back to the convention? I don't know.
- 21:07Speaker 4: I've seen stuff too.
- 21:09Speaker 2: We watched movies as well, but I didn't know if
- 21:11Speaker 2: we needed to.
- 21:11Speaker 4: We can round it back to the convention, but I
- 21:13Speaker 4: don't know. What else have you seen while we're talking
- 21:16Speaker 4: about things?
- 21:17Speaker 2: Last night, me and... I tried to make boyfriend decide
- 21:21Speaker 2: what movie to watch. And a couple weeks ago, we
- 21:24Speaker 2: were at Half Price, I'm assuming. Half Price Books. And
- 21:30Speaker 2: I was like, oh, look, they've got street trash.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Oh, I just recently watched this myself.
- 21:37Speaker 6: And.
- 21:38Speaker 2: It was on Pluto or Tubi.
- 21:42Speaker 3: It was on Tubi.
- 21:44Speaker 2: One of those free channels that you can just watch
- 21:46Speaker 2: free shit on. I mean, it's got commercials. And we're like, oh,
- 21:50Speaker 2: let's see how bad this is.
- 21:52Speaker 4: It's a cult classic.
- 21:54Speaker 2: It is the most non-trauma, trauma movie I have ever...
- 21:59Speaker 2: I mean, no. How do I say it? That's not
- 22:01Speaker 2: phrased correctly.
- 22:02Speaker 3: It's the trauma-est non-trauma movie I've ever seen.
- 22:07Speaker 2: That makes a little bit more sense.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Yeah, that's not so far off.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Because he was like, is this trauma? And I'm like,
- 22:13Speaker 2: I don't think so. It tried to out-trauma trauma.
- 22:19Speaker 4: I mean, again, I gave my extended opinion. You can
- 22:23Speaker 4: go back and hear it if you want to. It
- 22:25Speaker 4: was just a few months ago. But, yeah, to me,
- 22:28Speaker 4: it's sort of fascinating because, again, you're looking at guys
- 22:31Speaker 4: that have died. no money. And we're like, I don't care.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I'm making a movie. And they made a short version
- 22:36Speaker 4: of it, which actually the short version is not as
- 22:38Speaker 4: bad because I think, I feel like that's the problem
- 22:40Speaker 4: is it's so drawn out.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Might've been better off with the shorter version.
- 22:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 22:43Speaker 4: You're probably better watching the short because you still kind
- 22:45Speaker 4: of get that basic idea of what's going on in this,
- 22:48Speaker 4: which is very minimal story-wise, but you still get the
- 22:52Speaker 4: gross effects. And like the gross effects are the selling point.
- 22:55Speaker 4: Like the gross multicolored things going on, Like, that's when
- 22:59Speaker 4: you can see these guys love what they're doing.
- 23:01Speaker 2: The paint.
- 23:02Speaker 4: The paint that's oozing out of people and just people
- 23:05Speaker 4: liquefying into multicolored day glow craziness is just, like, phenomenal.
- 23:10Speaker 4: And I'm like, that I'm impressed with. Like, I don't
- 23:14Speaker 4: love the movie around it. I respect it, but I
- 23:17Speaker 4: don't love it. It's not a great movie.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't know because we didn't finish the movie.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Nice.
- 23:24Speaker 2: We got to the cat.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Oh, gosh.
- 23:28Speaker 2: The second guy who melts. Yeah. He's on the balcony.
- 23:31Speaker 2: He's like, hey, kitty. And the cat's like, that cat
- 23:34Speaker 2: was the best actor. Well. In the entire fucking movie.
- 23:37Speaker 4: There weren't a lot of professionals. It's all right.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Because this cat's just like watching him. And the cat
- 23:42Speaker 2: has a very, it's very expressive.
- 23:44Speaker 4: He's a good cat actor.
- 23:45Speaker 2: At least an Oscar. Do they have like an Oscar
- 23:47Speaker 2: for pets?
- 23:48Speaker 4: I feel like they should have, but I don't think
- 23:50Speaker 4: they've ever come around.
- 23:51Speaker 2: That cat fully was like, he was in it. But yeah,
- 23:55Speaker 2: after that, because I was like, how much more can
- 23:58Speaker 2: you take? And he's like, I think I'm done.
- 24:02Speaker 4: Again, you can just kind of skip to the melting
- 24:04Speaker 4: scenes and you're probably like, if you're going to be impressed,
- 24:07Speaker 4: that's where you're going to be impressed.
- 24:09Speaker 2: When he melted, the second homeless guy was melting and
- 24:12Speaker 2: part of him fell on that other guy's face. I
- 24:15Speaker 2: was like, that was the best part of the movie.
- 24:17Speaker 2: Aside from the cat. Cat still wins top down.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Yeah. I was not sure what to expect. I knew
- 24:23Speaker 4: it's cult classic status. I knew it had Dayglo colors
- 24:27Speaker 4: and meltiness going on, but I was not prepared for the,
- 24:30Speaker 4: I'm using air quotes back here, story. And it was
- 24:34Speaker 4: minimal story. It was really just hanging out with drunk
- 24:38Speaker 4: homeless people.
- 24:39Speaker 2: For a really long time. I don't need that.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Yeah. It's not really an enjoyable watch, but again, it's
- 24:46Speaker 4: impressive and you can tell where they've fixated their attention
- 24:51Speaker 4: they're like we want to do these creepy effects how
- 24:54Speaker 4: can we do it can we do it yes we can.
- 24:56Speaker 2: So in sticking with the homeless theme nice when we
- 24:59Speaker 2: gave up with that boyfriend's second choice was chud.
- 25:03Speaker 4: All right well i mean which starts with a street
- 25:06Speaker 4: sweeper gotta gotta get.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Some which i'm like we're literally cleaning out the street
- 25:11Speaker 2: trash at this.
- 25:12Speaker 4: Point people living in manhole covers that's what it's all about.
- 25:16Speaker 2: So i'm assuming you've seen chud.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Again, it's one of those I need to revisit. I
- 25:22Speaker 4: feel like it was on cable a million years ago,
- 25:24Speaker 4: and I kind of remember not really much, though.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Yeah, originally, uh, I was wanting to watch something kind
- 25:33Speaker 3: of cheesy, like cheesy 80s.
- 25:37Speaker 4: I got myself in trouble with that mood, but yeah,
- 25:39Speaker 4: continue on.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, there was a certain feeling that I
- 25:42Speaker 3: was wanting to go for. You know, you just get
- 25:44Speaker 3: in a mood and you want to watch something. And, uh,
- 25:48Speaker 3: street trash was not not that wasn't the mood that
- 25:52Speaker 3: i was in so that's why i was just kind
- 25:54Speaker 3: of like yeah i'm done it's not that it's like
- 25:58Speaker 3: i wouldn't say it's a horrible movie i would yeah
- 26:00Speaker 3: you would but i mean it's.
- 26:01Speaker 4: Rough around the edges we'll put that yeah.
- 26:03Speaker 3: You know it's like one of those you got to
- 26:04Speaker 3: be in a mood for to watch because i know
- 26:06Speaker 3: at some point i at some point i would have
- 26:10Speaker 3: been like yeah yeah i want to watch that you
- 26:11Speaker 3: know just goofy mood but i was just kind of
- 26:15Speaker 3: like yeah i just not really feeling it tonight i
- 26:17Speaker 3: want to see something else and i remember the video
- 26:21Speaker 3: the vhs cover for chud and i was like yeah
- 26:24Speaker 3: i remember seeing the cover for that i think i
- 26:26Speaker 3: want to watch that and it was actually on so
- 26:29Speaker 3: that's kind of what we ended up picking but.
- 26:32Speaker 4: And do you have loving feelings for chud um.
- 26:37Speaker 3: It wasn't bad i actually you know i don't like
- 26:40Speaker 3: the I only dozed off a couple minutes.
- 26:44Speaker 4: I can't say that about mine that's coming up. No
- 26:48Speaker 4: judgment here.
- 26:50Speaker 3: It didn't have anything to do with the movie. I
- 26:52Speaker 3: struggle to stay awake most days that I sit down.
- 26:56Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. If I sit down, it's usually
- 26:59Speaker 4: game over for me right there.
- 27:01Speaker 3: A lot of it was just me struggling to try
- 27:05Speaker 3: to stay awake.
- 27:08Speaker 4: But I mean.
- 27:09Speaker 3: like midway through the movie when everything started picking up,
- 27:11Speaker 3: because it started out kind of slow. Once everything started
- 27:15Speaker 3: picking up and you actually saw the chuds, I guess,
- 27:21Speaker 3: then by that time I was already catching second wind
- 27:25Speaker 3: and I was awake.
- 27:27Speaker 4: But I liked it.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I enjoyed it. It was good for what it was.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Nice.
- 27:31Speaker 2: I said, hey, you want some popcorn? And you were like, yeah, popcorn.
- 27:34Speaker 2: And I kept you awake the rest of the movie.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Misty, were you a chud fan?
- 27:39Speaker 2: I wasn't mad. I was kind of digging it. I
- 27:41Speaker 2: had to try to explain who half the people were.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I was like, where do I know that guy? I'm
- 27:46Speaker 2: still not sure where I know that one guy from.
- 27:48Speaker 2: And I'll tell you his name and maybe you can
- 27:50Speaker 2: tell me where I know him from. He was the
- 27:54Speaker 2: police officer. He was kind of a dick. That's a
- 27:57Speaker 2: lot of horror movies. Yeah, I know. But it's like
- 28:00Speaker 2: we were watching and I'm like, it's got John Hurt
- 28:02Speaker 2: in it. And my boyfriend's like, who's John Hurt? And
- 28:04Speaker 2: I'm like, it's the dad from Home Alone.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:09Speaker 2: And then there was, well, I mean, Boyfriend knew who
- 28:11Speaker 2: Daniel Stern was, so he didn't have to explain that one.
- 28:14Speaker 4: I don't know people's names. Also from Home Alone? Yeah.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Where is he?
- 28:20Speaker 4: There's a weird Home Alone connection here.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Sam McMurray. Where the fuck do I know Sam McMurray from?
- 28:26Speaker 4: Let me see. What's he look like?
- 28:28Speaker 2: This is not him in the movie. This is him
- 28:30Speaker 2: from The Shore. God, that's not a good picture of him.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Here's what I know him from. He started out on
- 28:40Speaker 4: the original era of the Tracy Ullman show.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Yeah, but I didn't watch that. What would I know
- 28:45Speaker 2: him from?
- 28:45Speaker 4: You would best know him from, to me, his most
- 28:48Speaker 4: immortal role. He's his boss in Raising Arizona.
- 28:54Speaker 2: But it still seems like there's something else.
- 28:56Speaker 4: He's been in a ton of stuff.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Oh, I know. He's got 208 acting credits. Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 4: I mean, he's been in a ton of stuff. But originally, yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 4: I knew him first from Tracy Ullman. And then he was, yeah, he's,
- 29:08Speaker 4: everyone is amazing in Raising Arizona. But yeah, what little
- 29:11Speaker 4: screen time he has, he definitely makes use of in
- 29:14Speaker 4: Raising Arizona.
- 29:16Speaker 2: And then apparently this was John Goodman's first on-screen role.
- 29:19Speaker 4: Nice.
- 29:21Speaker 2: It was a police officer in the diner.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Again, double crossover there with Raising Arizona.
- 29:27Speaker 2: But it wasn't awful. Interesting. I mean, I kept trying
- 29:34Speaker 2: to figure out, who does young Daniel Stern remind me of?
- 29:38Speaker 2: He reminds me of somebody. I know.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Fred Savage?
- 29:41Speaker 2: No, that's not it at all.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Not even a little bit. It's weird that Fred Savage
- 29:47Speaker 4: turns into Daniel Stern.
- 29:50Speaker 2: I mean, I guess I've never seen Daniel Stern kind
- 29:53Speaker 2: of young. He was always just wet bandit Daniel Stern.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Yeah, he always kind of. He got to that point,
- 29:58Speaker 4: and that's when he was super famous. And, like, he
- 30:00Speaker 4: sort of looked that same way for 20 years after that.
- 30:03Speaker 2: And there was another guy in the movie that, or, yeah,
- 30:05Speaker 2: in the movie. I'm like, he's one of those, I
- 30:07Speaker 2: fucking know that you do other things. What do I
- 30:10Speaker 2: know you from? And, uh, because he was the other
- 30:13Speaker 2: cop who was in the diner.
- 30:15Speaker 4: There's a lot of cops in a diner.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Dude, seriously, why is IMDB giving me shit? Um... You
- 30:24Speaker 2: know who he is. Just give me a second and
- 30:27Speaker 2: I'll find him. He's dark hair. He looks kind of,
- 30:31Speaker 2: I want to say Italian, but I could be getting
- 30:33Speaker 2: that way wrong. He's not Italian. Jay Thomas. Why do
- 30:40Speaker 2: I know Jay Thomas?
- 30:41Speaker 4: Let me see. Isn't he like Cheers Jay Thomas? Is he?
- 30:46Speaker 4: Like throwing the football with David Letterman, Jay Thomas? Yeah,
- 30:50Speaker 4: that's Jay Thomas.
- 30:50Speaker 2: All right.
- 30:51Speaker 4: So he eventually married Carla on Cheers. Oh, he did?
- 30:55Speaker 2: Maybe that's where I don't know.
- 30:56Speaker 4: And then, yeah, I mean, to me, he was just,
- 30:59Speaker 4: that was his most, I spent a lot of time
- 31:01Speaker 4: watching Letterman over the years. So his holiday special, once
- 31:05Speaker 4: a December, he would come on to Dave and he
- 31:08Speaker 4: would try to throw a football and knock a meatball
- 31:11Speaker 4: off the top of the tree. I don't remember how
- 31:14Speaker 4: it started. It just became a holiday tradition. And I
- 31:17Speaker 4: feel a little empty these days because it never happens
- 31:19Speaker 4: in December at any point. So... You don't know.
- 31:22Speaker 2: They could be sitting around their own houses.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I don't know that Jay is. I think Jay's gone now.
- 31:28Speaker 4: Dave is. Dave's still around. He just has the giant beard,
- 31:30Speaker 4: but he's still around. Oh, he died?
- 31:32Speaker 2: When did he die?
- 31:33Speaker 4: Check and see. I thought I remembered hearing he died.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Well, then he is tossing the football to Jesus.
- 31:40Speaker 4: There up in the sky, the great Christmas tree that
- 31:43Speaker 4: is up. I don't know how heaven works. Oh, he
- 31:46Speaker 4: died in 2017.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah, see?
- 31:48Speaker 4: I thought I remembered it.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Don't I just make you so sad? Well.
- 31:52Speaker 4: I've had time to get over it. So, would you
- 31:55Speaker 4: like to hear what I've watched recently?
- 31:57Speaker 2: We can.
- 31:59Speaker 4: So, as I've said, I'm not always feeling it. Sometimes
- 32:05Speaker 4: these days, I'm a little down. And I'm like, you know,
- 32:09Speaker 4: I've got enough darkness within me. I still want to
- 32:11Speaker 4: watch horror, but I don't want something super dark bringing
- 32:14Speaker 4: me down even more. I'm like, is there anything fun?
- 32:17Speaker 4: It's still anything light. It's still sort of horror.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Did you watch Zombie Town?
- 32:20Speaker 4: It's Halloween times. I still want to watch something horror-related. Horror-adjacent. Well,
- 32:29Speaker 4: I mean, I'm also a glutton for punishment, so I
- 32:31Speaker 4: kind of knew what I was getting myself into. Only
- 32:34Speaker 4: from you two. So that's why I thought this was
- 32:36Speaker 4: the appropriate time to discuss this. Because the only time
- 32:38Speaker 4: I'd heard anybody talk at minor length about this movie
- 32:42Speaker 4: was you two a very long time ago. I watched
- 32:46Speaker 4: Van Helsing Oh.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Oh, we were talking about that. I was almost going
- 32:52Speaker 3: to watch Van Helsing. Like, the Hugh Jackman one?
- 32:55Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 32:56Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah. Hugh Jackman.
- 32:57Speaker 3: Because I scrolled through, I was like, Van Helsing. I
- 33:00Speaker 3: was like, you know what? This movie would be great
- 33:02Speaker 3: if it didn't suck.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Oh, my God. Like, I knew, I'd heard, what little
- 33:07Speaker 4: I'd heard from anyone else was it was not good. No,
- 33:09Speaker 4: it's not. I heard you.
- 33:11Speaker 3: But it's got Kate Beckinsale in it, and I love her, but.
- 33:14Speaker 4: See, I've talked on her too. Couldn't save it.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Could not save it at all.
- 33:19Speaker 4: I feel like if ever there was like, because I'm
- 33:23Speaker 4: supporting the writer's strike, which is now wrapped up, and
- 33:27Speaker 4: the actors as well. But if ever there was like
- 33:30Speaker 4: a reason to support artificial intelligence writing a movie, because
- 33:34Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure that one in theory was written by humans.
- 33:37Speaker 4: And those are some of the worst lines I've ever heard. Like,
- 33:40Speaker 4: they are bad.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I don't remember. I know I've seen it, but I
- 33:43Speaker 2: think I blocked it out.
- 33:44Speaker 4: It is the clunkiest dialogue of those ever.
- 33:47Speaker 3: We've got to go back and watch it. Because it's like,
- 33:51Speaker 3: sometimes I'm a glutton for punishment, and I'll watch movies
- 33:54Speaker 3: like that.
- 33:54Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Or I'll go back and watch League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Because I really want to love that movie.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Well, it's the same thing. Like, I'm watching Van Helsing,
- 34:06Speaker 4: and I'm like, On paper, everything on this screen right
- 34:10Speaker 4: now is right up my alley, is ridiculous, super awesome,
- 34:15Speaker 4: and I should love it. And yet, this is garbage.
- 34:19Speaker 3: It just doesn't work.
- 34:21Speaker 4: I don't know why. It's so off.
- 34:22Speaker 3: I don't know if it's the CG.
- 34:25Speaker 4: Oh, the CG's bad. I don't know.
- 34:27Speaker 3: I don't know what it is. It's just, you know,
- 34:30Speaker 3: Hugh Jackman?
- 34:31Speaker 4: I like him in so many other things. He's a
- 34:35Speaker 4: great actor.
- 34:36Speaker 3: But for some reason, it's not Van Helsing.
- 34:38Speaker 4: It's Hugh Jackman.
- 34:40Speaker 3: It's Hugh Jackman being Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Well, and his lovely long hair that I'm watching. This
- 34:46Speaker 4: is a wig, right?
- 34:47Speaker 2: It's Wolverine as fucking Van Helsing.
- 34:49Speaker 4: I mean, by the end.
- 34:50Speaker 5: No, no.
- 34:51Speaker 4: No spoilers if you haven't seen it, but he definitely
- 34:54Speaker 4: pulls a Wolverine by the end of it. Yeah. I'm like,
- 34:56Speaker 4: Wolverine fight. Here we go. Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:59Speaker 3: But no, not even Wolverine. It's not Hugh Jackman being
- 35:02Speaker 3: Wolverine being Van Helsing. It's Hugh Jackman just being Hugh Jackman.
- 35:07Speaker 4: Well and this was years ago so like really the
- 35:10Speaker 4: only thing anybody knew him from at that point was
- 35:13Speaker 4: was being a wolverine like he had gone on to
- 35:16Speaker 4: be in his weird musical phase really like not embraced
- 35:20Speaker 4: it that people knew who he was so this was
- 35:22Speaker 4: like that first glimpse of him doing something else other
- 35:25Speaker 4: than wolverine and you're like wait what what is this.
- 35:29Speaker 3: Yeah it was just wait a minute, this doesn't seem right.
- 35:34Speaker 4: You know? His dreamy rock star hair, though. Yeah, it
- 35:38Speaker 4: just didn't feel right.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Something just didn't... He just I don't know. The chemistry
- 35:44Speaker 3: for him being in that role.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Well, it wasn't just him. Everybody is off. But the
- 35:50Speaker 4: moment I was like, okay, this should kick ass is when, okay,
- 35:55Speaker 4: we're watching this Van Helsing dude, and he's killing monsters.
- 35:59Speaker 4: And not just one. He's not just going for Dracula.
- 36:01Speaker 4: He's killing all kinds of monsters. He's out looking for
- 36:03Speaker 4: any kind of monster that comes along. And then he
- 36:06Speaker 4: goes back to the main headquarters, and his Q shows up.
- 36:11Speaker 4: And starts giving him new specialized weapons. And I'm like, okay,
- 36:14Speaker 4: this is Monster Hunting James Bond. This should be the
- 36:17Speaker 4: greatest movie ever if you're a dork like me. And
- 36:20Speaker 4: somehow I was like, wow, this is still just not working.
- 36:24Speaker 4: What is going horribly off the rails? I don't get it.
- 36:27Speaker 4: It doesn't make any sense why it does not work
- 36:30Speaker 4: even on a fun level.
- 36:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm trying to figure out if they could cast
- 36:34Speaker 3: somebody else.
- 36:35Speaker 4: It's just the tone. Because I'm watching scene for scene.
- 36:38Speaker 4: I'm like, that was... an effective action thing that i
- 36:42Speaker 4: just saw and granted it's also over the top and
- 36:45Speaker 4: like a horse team jumping a giant chasm that doesn't
- 36:50Speaker 4: kill all of the horses and everyone involved i just
- 36:53Speaker 4: like it definitely is gratuitous in a most ridiculous way
- 36:58Speaker 4: but like sometimes i'm fine with that and like i
- 37:01Speaker 4: don't know what it is like everything is just so
- 37:04Speaker 4: off about that movie that just fires on No cylinders.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:09Speaker 4: I don't get it.
- 37:10Speaker 3: You know, there's certain movies, like, when I get home
- 37:14Speaker 3: from work, sometimes I have plenty of time to just, well,
- 37:17Speaker 3: depending on what I'm doing, if I'm not working on
- 37:20Speaker 3: cars or I have something that has to go on,
- 37:24Speaker 3: you know, something else that's going on, especially in the wintertime,
- 37:27Speaker 3: I'll sit around and watch movies. So I've gone back
- 37:30Speaker 3: and watched, like, Total Recall, Bloodsport.
- 37:36Speaker 4: I've watched these.
- 37:37Speaker 3: The Running Man.
- 37:38Speaker 4: I just re-watched The Running Man. That's weird.
- 37:40Speaker 3: I fucking love that shit. And those are great movies
- 37:43Speaker 3: that I can watch and just not really have to
- 37:47Speaker 3: think about.
- 37:48Speaker 4: Kind of turn your brain off.
- 37:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:49Speaker 4: Let's not be paying attention. Yeah, you know.
- 37:52Speaker 3: And, of course, you know, I'll always watch some of
- 37:58Speaker 3: my favorite movies.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Hackers.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Dude, I fucking love Hackers.
- 38:02Speaker 4: Can't go wrong with Hackers. One of my favorite movies. Yeah. Yeah.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Uh, so, you know, but it's, it's like Van Helsing and, uh,
- 38:13Speaker 3: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. They should be in those categories
- 38:16Speaker 3: of my favorite movies, but they both fall into the
- 38:19Speaker 3: same category of these should be awesome, but they really,
- 38:24Speaker 3: really just suck for some reason.
- 38:28Speaker 4: And, and you mentioned again, I forgot. I like, It
- 38:31Speaker 4: was of that era. So once I got there, I
- 38:33Speaker 4: was like, of course it's Kate Beckinsale. Of course that's
- 38:36Speaker 4: who they cast in this.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Well, yeah.
- 38:38Speaker 4: And then I got there and I was like, you know,
- 38:40Speaker 4: I've never fully understood. I haven't got it with her.
- 38:44Speaker 4: But I look at her and I'm like, just picture perfect.
- 38:48Speaker 4: I'm like, you are a supermodel that they put on
- 38:50Speaker 4: the screen. I get it aesthetically. You are a gorgeous woman.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Something ain't working. And I'm like, not just this movie,
- 38:57Speaker 4: but definitely in this movie. I'm like, there's just something like,
- 39:00Speaker 4: so cold about her. Like, she's just not engaging at all.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Which works when she's a vampire in Underworld. I guess.
- 39:07Speaker 4: Like, I never totally got into the Underworlds either, but.
- 39:10Speaker 3: Underworld's awesome, but in this, yeah.
- 39:13Speaker 4: She's just so detached.
- 39:15Speaker 2: That works in Underworld because that's, as her character, seems
- 39:18Speaker 2: kind of detached from most things.
- 39:20Speaker 4: I mean, she's at least committed to her accent. Hugh
- 39:22Speaker 4: just sounds like Hugh. But she's going for a very
- 39:26Speaker 4: Transylvanian accent, and she commits. And I'll give her points
- 39:30Speaker 4: for that, but somehow it still doesn't save that performance.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it was still pretty bad.
- 39:35Speaker 4: It is pretty clunky as well.
- 39:36Speaker 3: The Transylvanian accent was pretty bad.
- 39:39Speaker 4: I don't know, man. And then by the end, it's just...
- 39:43Speaker 4: Nobody's even on screen anymore. It's just CG monster fighting
- 39:45Speaker 4: CG monster. I'm like, what are we watching? I could
- 39:48Speaker 4: just watch cartoons.
- 39:49Speaker 3: At this point, we're just watching video game cutscenes.
- 39:53Speaker 4: It's not even good CG. It's bad CG monster fighting.
- 39:59Speaker 3: Who is it that Hugh Jackman goes and sees?
- 40:04Speaker 4: Is it Dr. Jekyll? Oh, at the beginning. The big, creepy,
- 40:09Speaker 4: wannabe Dr. Jekyll that is, again, just a cartoon. He
- 40:13Speaker 4: starts as a caricature and then becomes a cartoon in
- 40:16Speaker 4: his transformation.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Yeah, oh, it's bad.
- 40:18Speaker 4: It is bad.
- 40:19Speaker 3: So bad.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Oh, God. It is so rough. Yeah, I was not prepared. So,
- 40:27Speaker 4: speaking of what we said earlier, do you know how
- 40:30Speaker 4: many times I had to back this thing up and continue?
- 40:33Speaker 4: Because I... Well, it became a multi-night thing because I
- 40:37Speaker 4: started a couple of days ago and I'm just like,
- 40:40Speaker 4: I'm just going to sleep. I can't do this anymore.
- 40:42Speaker 4: But I paused it and I came back and I
- 40:44Speaker 4: was like, all right, we're going to talk about it
- 40:45Speaker 4: today because I know you guys have seen it. So
- 40:47Speaker 4: I'm like, let's finish this out. And I still it
- 40:51Speaker 4: was at least three times I backed up and was like, what? No,
- 40:53Speaker 4: I don't remember this. I totally went to sleep because
- 40:55Speaker 4: I was trying to escape. So, yeah, I got through it.
- 40:59Speaker 4: But it took a lot of times. Van Helsing. I
- 41:04Speaker 4: was not prepared.
- 41:05Speaker 2: We did watch another movie, too.
- 41:07Speaker 4: All right.
- 41:08Speaker 2: And it kind of brings us back to today because
- 41:10Speaker 2: the star of the movie was at the convention today.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Alrighty.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Come full circle.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Because I've seen, I'd previously seen the movie, but Boyfriend,
- 41:18Speaker 2: I do not think that he had seen it. So
- 41:20Speaker 2: he's like, well, it's a classic.
- 41:21Speaker 4: We have to watch.
- 41:22Speaker 2: We have to sit down and watch it eventually at
- 41:23Speaker 2: some point. So we watched The Fog.
- 41:27Speaker 4: Alright. I have seen it once again and it's been
- 41:30Speaker 4: many years ago. It's one of those I kind of
- 41:32Speaker 4: want to revisit. I also want to revisit and or
- 41:36Speaker 4: I don't know if I ever watched the remake.
- 41:38Speaker 2: Oh, we watched the remake.
- 41:40Speaker 4: This time? Or you watched the.
- 41:42Speaker 2: No, I'm saying I thought we watched it a long
- 41:44Speaker 2: time ago.
- 41:44Speaker 4: See, I thought I'd seen it, but I don't remember
- 41:47Speaker 4: a thing about it.
- 41:48Speaker 2: How could you not remember.
- 41:49Speaker 4: That Tom Welling... I've blocked out everything but Tom Welling.
- 41:51Speaker 4: Because Tom Welling's kind of awesome at all times. I
- 41:54Speaker 4: don't have any issues with Tom Welling. But he... I
- 41:57Speaker 4: don't know. He doesn't make a lot of movies these days,
- 41:59Speaker 4: it seems like. So I kind of want to see
- 42:01Speaker 4: him in more stuff.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Did he play... Has he played Superman again yet?
- 42:05Speaker 4: He needs to. Well, I mean, he did... Again, you
- 42:08Speaker 4: were looking today, bringing it back to today, you were
- 42:11Speaker 4: looking for the old CW booth.
- 42:13Speaker 2: There was no CW booth.
- 42:14Speaker 4: They brought him back as Clark Kent in a crossover
- 42:18Speaker 4: multi-universe world of CW a couple of seasons ago. And
- 42:23Speaker 4: it was wonderful. He was there wearing his flannel shirt,
- 42:25Speaker 4: being all Clark Kent handsome. Yep, he's a nice specimen
- 42:30Speaker 4: of Clark Kent-ness.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Was Chloe there?
- 42:33Speaker 4: Um don't think they brought her in i don't know
- 42:35Speaker 4: why i'm not.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Sure what she's up to that was her name on
- 42:38Speaker 2: the show wasn't it yes i.
- 42:39Speaker 4: Can't remember how long and once again i'll stress i'm
- 42:41Speaker 4: not sure what she's up to these days scheming planning
- 42:45Speaker 4: anyway we'll leave that alone she's shady but um yeah
- 42:49Speaker 4: he was there and uh it was it was nice
- 42:51Speaker 4: so i did i did welcome getting to see him
- 42:54Speaker 4: be clark again and i i want to see him
- 42:57Speaker 4: in more stuff but so what was your take on
- 42:59Speaker 4: old school fog.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Did you have any opinion of the fog boyfriends I
- 43:03Speaker 2: liked it.
- 43:03Speaker 4: I thought it was good.
- 43:05Speaker 2: He spent most of the time trying to figure out
- 43:08Speaker 2: how old Jamie Lee Curtis was compared to Tom Atkins.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Oh, yeah. That's fine. It's okay for old dudes to
- 43:16Speaker 4: hook up with young girls, right?
- 43:17Speaker 2: He was just weird. He didn't have his mustache. And
- 43:19Speaker 2: I was like, what's going on?
- 43:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:21Speaker 2: And I don't even like facial hair. But I'm like,
- 43:23Speaker 2: but Tom Atkins has a mustache.
- 43:24Speaker 4: That's his thing, man. It's very weird.
- 43:27Speaker 2: And it's like, is he supposed to be handsome? I
- 43:31Speaker 2: don't understand.
- 43:33Speaker 4: He's just Tom Atkins. That's all that matters.
- 43:35Speaker 3: He's cool.
- 43:35Speaker 4: He's always cool. Don't get me wrong.
- 43:38Speaker 2: He's not really, like, conventionally handsome. And she, like, jumped
- 43:43Speaker 2: right into bed with him.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Well, back then, you know, guys were like, well, no, no,
- 43:51Speaker 3: I'm just saying back then, I mean, if you look
- 43:53Speaker 3: at a lot of just people back in that day,
- 43:58Speaker 3: you know, you go back and watch that stuff, a
- 44:00Speaker 3: lot of those people were not really hot. I mean,
- 44:04Speaker 3: I know there were there were guys in my high
- 44:07Speaker 3: school that girls were just totally in love with. And
- 44:11Speaker 3: then you look at their like you look at the
- 44:14Speaker 3: high school photos, you know, from the yearbook. And these
- 44:18Speaker 3: guys are just.
- 44:21Speaker 4: They don't look hot at all well even how the
- 44:23Speaker 4: hell even the movies like go back and look at
- 44:25Speaker 4: them it's like yes kind of your lead usually is
- 44:27Speaker 4: but look at like the other guys that are supposed
- 44:29Speaker 4: to be the cool guys you look at them now
- 44:31Speaker 4: and a good half of the time i'm like what
- 44:32Speaker 4: a douche like i can't even think of him as
- 44:35Speaker 4: like a handsome guy because he's just too douchey and
- 44:38Speaker 4: very 80s most of the time and has feathered hair
- 44:41Speaker 4: and a popped collar and i'm just like yeah screw
- 44:43Speaker 4: that guy so yeah again i guess our tastes change
- 44:46Speaker 4: over the years but being hot and things that don't change.
- 44:50Speaker 4: How about some Adrian Barba?
- 44:53Speaker 2: Was she hot? We're trying to figure that one out, too.
- 44:56Speaker 4: People love her. I mean, she's like the epitome of
- 44:59Speaker 4: 80s hotness for most guys.
- 45:00Speaker 2: She was super cool, but I couldn't figure out. I mean,
- 45:02Speaker 2: she's very angular. And that's not a bad thing. I
- 45:05Speaker 2: was just trying to figure out what exactly.
- 45:07Speaker 4: I mean... See, that's the thing.
- 45:09Speaker 7: I didn't... Oops.
- 45:10Speaker 4: And that's... That's mainly what it was. I didn't fall
- 45:13Speaker 4: into that at the time. Like, at the time, I
- 45:14Speaker 4: was just like, ah, I knew she was by name because,
- 45:17Speaker 4: you know, again, everybody talked about her being hot. I
- 45:19Speaker 4: go back now, and I'm like, alright, I see it,
- 45:21Speaker 4: and boobs are a big appeal.
- 45:22Speaker 2: But she didn't show her boobs at all in this movie.
- 45:24Speaker 4: But she coasts on them, you know. Once you've been
- 45:28Speaker 4: established as someone having, you know, super hot rack, you
- 45:31Speaker 4: can coast on that for many a movie, and dudes
- 45:34Speaker 4: will still show up, just in case. Just in case
- 45:36Speaker 4: you're wearing a low-cut top. But, I don't know. What
- 45:40Speaker 4: I've seen her in other things, I like her, so.
- 45:42Speaker 4: I came to appreciate her later, but as a kid,
- 45:44Speaker 4: I didn't, I wasn't the one with her poster on.
- 45:48Speaker 4: Just like, oh yeah, I know her. She's in movies.
- 45:49Speaker 4: But I know she is a sex symbol for many
- 45:52Speaker 4: a dude.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Yeah, because she was at the convention today and she
- 45:55Speaker 2: was looking kind of the same. And she's looked it
- 45:58Speaker 2: for years, you know.
- 45:59Speaker 4: She kind of, I mean, she got a little older
- 46:02Speaker 4: after those movies, but she didn't, like, get on hard
- 46:04Speaker 4: times like some people do. Like, she just kind of
- 46:07Speaker 4: aged into it and is, you know, looking Adrian Barbeau-like.
- 46:10Speaker 2: Fantastic. Now I kind of want to watch the remake
- 46:12Speaker 2: at some point. Yeah, I need to. Because I can't
- 46:14Speaker 2: remember who, like.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Like I said, I've blocked out most of it, so
- 46:18Speaker 4: I definitely need to read it.
- 46:18Speaker 2: I can't remember the Tom Atkins role in the remake.
- 46:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 46:22Speaker 4: I just need more DJs.
- 46:23Speaker 2: I can't remember what role. I mean, I remember that
- 46:25Speaker 2: Tom was in it, but I can't remember.
- 46:27Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the thing. That's the only thing I remember
- 46:29Speaker 4: about it was him being in it.
- 46:31Speaker 2: Who was he the equivalent of? Jamie Leaker. He was
- 46:36Speaker 2: sleeping with Tom Atkins, too.
- 46:37Speaker 4: I mean, it's an update. We've got to reboot this thing.
- 46:40Speaker 4: We need to put a new spin on.
- 46:43Speaker 2: It. And still, some of the scenes in there, some
- 46:44Speaker 2: of the... with the fog rolling in and the colors.
- 46:47Speaker 2: And I mean, it's beautifully shot. Yeah.
- 46:50Speaker 4: Again, you got, you got a master at work there.
- 46:52Speaker 4: I mean, that was him kind of right in his prime.
- 46:54Speaker 4: That's just the one that didn't quite hit like those
- 46:57Speaker 4: others did. It has its cult following, but it's not
- 46:59Speaker 4: like usually the go-to for masterpiece when you're talking about it. Yeah.
- 47:03Speaker 2: I had to point him out. I'm like, isn't that,
- 47:06Speaker 2: isn't that John Carpenter right there? Cause he's like, has
- 47:08Speaker 2: that small little brief cameo at the beginning. Boyfriend's like,
- 47:12Speaker 2: I don't know. I've never seen him. Not old.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, he still kind of looked like the
- 47:16Speaker 4: same dude. He was just a younger version of that
- 47:19Speaker 4: same dude.
- 47:19Speaker 2: I was like, I wouldn't mind if that John Carpenter
- 47:21Speaker 2: winked at me.
- 47:22Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 47:24Speaker 2: Instead, I get the old John Carpenter winking at me.
- 47:27Speaker 4: Well, you should cherish that.
- 47:29Speaker 2: I kind of do, but I'm kind of still creeped
- 47:31Speaker 2: out at the same time. I'm very torn on the
- 47:33Speaker 2: whole thing.
- 47:34Speaker 4: If you weren't here for the thousands of episodes in
- 47:36Speaker 4: between now and then, this was at a convention. And
- 47:40Speaker 4: I just went up and got his poster signed and
- 47:41Speaker 4: he did not wink at me. But as he walked
- 47:43Speaker 4: past Misty.
- 47:45Speaker 2: I was like a lot skinnier and cuter than him. Whatever.
- 47:49Speaker 2: He was into you. I think the bar was probably
- 47:54Speaker 2: pretty low.
- 48:00Speaker 4: Anything else to round?
- 48:02Speaker 2: I'm going to have to round it out fast because
- 48:03Speaker 2: our AC is starting to go out in my car. Apparently.
- 48:07Speaker 4: Well, we can't finish it out without this last step.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Because you wondered what it was I was dragging here
- 48:13Speaker 4: like I was going to get Karen to sign something. No,
- 48:16Speaker 4: it's actually for you. Oh, for me. Because it's, as
- 48:18Speaker 4: you mentioned earlier, it's almost your birthday.
- 48:20Speaker 2: It's almost my birthday.
- 48:21Speaker 4: So wish her a happy birthday after the fact because
- 48:24Speaker 4: it probably already passed in the real world. But I
- 48:28Speaker 4: thought I'd wait until the show because this ties into
- 48:30Speaker 4: a very specific episode. It all comes full circle once again.
- 48:34Speaker 4: So this was a while ago. I have had this.
- 48:37Speaker 4: And I will go ahead and bust it out. It's
- 48:39Speaker 4: going to make noise. I've got to work around this
- 48:40Speaker 4: crinkly bag.
- 48:41Speaker 2: I didn't get you anything for your birthday.
- 48:43Speaker 4: I don't really care. I just saw it and was like, well,
- 48:45Speaker 4: now I'm destined to get this for you, so I
- 48:47Speaker 4: hope you're happy. Walking through a store, and I see
- 48:51Speaker 4: this giant-ass magazine, and I just immediately go, huh. I
- 48:55Speaker 4: wonder if that's the... Here's the interview magazine that we
- 49:00Speaker 4: mentioned on an episode about a year ago. Almost exactly
- 49:05Speaker 4: a year ago. Flip to the.
- 49:08Speaker 2: There's a card that you can subscribe.
- 49:09Speaker 4: It's towards the front. Right towards the front. Put the
- 49:16Speaker 4: card in the page so you can find him.
- 49:18Speaker 2: I can't find it. You're lost.
- 49:22Speaker 4: Give it here. Towards the front.
- 49:25Speaker 2: I'm slipping. I don't see any cards. Are you sure
- 49:30Speaker 2: the card didn't come out?
- 49:31Speaker 4: I put the card in.
- 49:32Speaker 2: Oh, that's cool.
- 49:34Speaker 4: There are some very cool photos in it. It is
- 49:36Speaker 4: an interview magazine from way back in the day.
- 49:39Speaker 3: I used to work for the company that printed Interview Magazine.
- 49:42Speaker 4: Nice.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Did I go past it?
- 49:44Speaker 4: I don't think so. Not if you haven't seen them.
- 49:48Speaker 3: Let me tell you, these things were a bitch to run.
- 49:50Speaker 4: Look at that.
- 49:52Speaker 2: O-M-G.
- 49:53Speaker 4: All right. It's glorious. Try to describe the wonder in
- 49:57Speaker 4: front of you right now.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Oh my, I don't even know that I can. What
- 49:59Speaker 2: is on his nipples?
- 50:00Speaker 4: Got some nipple rings going.
- 50:02Speaker 2: I don't know. Are those actually... No, those are like.
- 50:03Speaker 4: I think they're more like pasty nipple rings.
- 50:05Speaker 2: I can't have that little suction cup stuck to his boobs.
- 50:08Speaker 4: I can't... So who is this sexy, sexy man?
- 50:10Speaker 2: That would be the glory and wonder that is Tim
- 50:12Speaker 2: Capello and all his just magnificent wonder.
- 50:15Speaker 4: In his 80s glory, by the way.
- 50:16Speaker 2: He was a magnificent beast. I'm not going to lie.
- 50:19Speaker 2: He's got the saxophone up there. Yeah.
- 50:22Speaker 4: He is shirtless. Extremely shirtless. I would hope so. As
- 50:26Speaker 4: he should be at all times.
- 50:27Speaker 7: I suppose.
- 50:27Speaker 2: Especially in the 80s.
- 50:29Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 50:30Speaker 2: Oh, man. Look at him. Why don't they have more pictures?
- 50:33Speaker 4: I think that's it.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:34Speaker 4: I was like, where's the photo spread? There needs to
- 50:36Speaker 4: be a whole.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Thing of Tim.
- 50:37Speaker 4: I need an entire.
- 50:39Speaker 2: magazine just full of the glory I mean look at
- 50:42Speaker 2: that but see.
- 50:43Speaker 4: Here's the weird thing so even he said he didn't
- 50:46Speaker 4: have a copy we were just like oh god this
- 50:48Speaker 4: is gonna be impossible to find I'm walking by one
- 50:51Speaker 4: of the mini bookstores very similar to the ones you
- 50:54Speaker 4: went to today and like it's up on a shelf
- 50:57Speaker 4: on display and I'm like what are the odds huh
- 51:00Speaker 4: and then I pick it up and I swear look
- 51:02Speaker 4: how much you just struggled to find it I flipped
- 51:04Speaker 4: open and like there it was I was like son
- 51:06Speaker 4: of a bitch I guess I'm buying this Because we
- 51:09Speaker 4: just said you're, like, going to scrounge.
- 51:11Speaker 2: I checked the internet so hard. Do you remember me looking?
- 51:15Speaker 2: I know.
- 51:16Speaker 4: That's why I was like, this is so weird. That, like,
- 51:18Speaker 4: it was just a month or two after it happened.
- 51:21Speaker 4: I was like, right after this, I'm walking through, not
- 51:24Speaker 4: even looking for it. It's staring me in the face,
- 51:26Speaker 4: the big Cindy Lauper, looking at my face. And I'm
- 51:29Speaker 4: just like, all right, I guess I got to look
- 51:30Speaker 4: in this interview. Holy shit, there he is.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Is that, like, a ball gag necklace? I can't.
- 51:35Speaker 4: Well, I mean, you know most of his attire comes
- 51:38Speaker 4: from the sex shop, so probably so. Picked out by Tina,
- 51:41Speaker 4: I'm sure.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Thank you, Tina Turner, for all that you have done
- 51:45Speaker 2: in the world. May you rest in peace, knowing that
- 51:50Speaker 2: you gave us.
- 51:51Speaker 4: If you've done nothing else, you brought us Tim in
- 51:54Speaker 4: all his glory in his sex gear.
- 51:56Speaker 2: I was seriously thinking about getting a tattoo of Tim Capella,
- 51:59Speaker 2: the sexy sax man. I thought about maybe just a
- 52:03Speaker 2: little one of Tim Capella. That would be super cool.
- 52:06Speaker 2: I thought more like a... Cartoony? Kind of cartoony.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Nice.
- 52:11Speaker 2: That would be beautiful. He is a work of art
- 52:15Speaker 2: right there.
- 52:16Speaker 4: Well, Jay, I did not find you a sexy sax
- 52:18Speaker 4: man gift for your birthday. But when I walked past it,
- 52:22Speaker 4: I was like, damn. And that's the thing. It was
- 52:23Speaker 4: way before your birthday. I was like, well, I guess
- 52:25Speaker 4: I'm hanging on to this because your birthday's not for
- 52:28Speaker 4: a long time and Christmas just passed. So I guess
- 52:30Speaker 4: I'm just sitting on this thing. So You're lucky I
- 52:33Speaker 4: found it. It's shifted so many times in my mess.
- 52:35Speaker 4: I'm like, where is it? I've got to give it
- 52:37Speaker 4: to her for her birthday. There you go.
- 52:40Speaker 2: It is a work of art. I'm going to have
- 52:41Speaker 2: to take a picture of it, print it out, and
- 52:43Speaker 2: then frame it and put it on the wall.
- 52:44Speaker 4: I would hope so.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Because I'm not going to tear it out and deface
- 52:46Speaker 2: the magazine.
- 52:47Speaker 4: No, you can't. This is a collector's edition. Even Tim
- 52:51Speaker 4: doesn't have a version.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Lions and ghosts over here, too.
- 52:54Speaker 4: There was some pretty cool stuff in it. Yeah, I
- 52:56Speaker 4: flipped through most of it looking for other shots, but no.
- 52:58Speaker 2: It was always an awesome magazine.
- 53:00Speaker 4: It was always really cool to run.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Oh, until December. What is going on here?
- 53:09Speaker 4: Yeah, there's some... It's a lot of music people, so
- 53:11Speaker 4: there's some weird bands. Some of which I was like, oh, look,
- 53:14Speaker 4: they caught somewhere. There's an InXS in there. There's a
- 53:16Speaker 4: little Dream Academy. So, like, there's some people of the moment.
- 53:20Speaker 4: But then you get the other ones, and I'm like, oh,
- 53:22Speaker 4: they were gonna take off according to this, and I
- 53:24Speaker 4: do not know who this person is. So, there's some
- 53:26Speaker 4: misses along the way, as with any industry, but some
- 53:30Speaker 4: good photos either way.
- 53:32Speaker 2: A big, full page. A large page of Tim Capello.
- 53:36Speaker 4: So thank you, Andy Warhol, for creating this giant-ass magazine
- 53:40Speaker 4: that I somehow randomly stumbled across.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Cuando, cuando?
- 53:45Speaker 4: I don't know who they are. So, I thought that
- 53:49Speaker 4: was the way to round out the episode.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Yeah, happy birthday to me! Ooh, who we got over here?
- 53:55Speaker 2: Who's this guy? Ooh, the gentleman over on Charlie Sexton?
- 54:00Speaker 2: I don't know who you are.
- 54:01Speaker 4: No, I remember Charlie Sexton. Again, it's one of those,
- 54:04Speaker 4: he had the rock star name. I was like, this
- 54:06Speaker 4: has got to go easy for him. He's going to
- 54:08Speaker 4: be huge. And then, like, they tried. He put out
- 54:11Speaker 4: an album. He was trying.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Dude, this guy's hands are gross. Who are you? Boz Skaggs.
- 54:17Speaker 4: Oh, he's a master. What are you talking about? His
- 54:19Speaker 4: hands are... He's also a sax man, I think. He's
- 54:22Speaker 4: definitely a horn dude.
- 54:26Speaker 2: If only you all could see. The things that I'm
- 54:29Speaker 2: seeing right now. The glory and wonder that is all this.
- 54:35Speaker 2: But more importantly, Timmy Capella.
- 54:39Speaker 4: That was just such a weird cosmic thing that came together.
- 54:41Speaker 4: I was like, I guess I'm getting this. Whether I
- 54:44Speaker 4: like it or not. I'm going to be toting this
- 54:46Speaker 4: sexy sax man up to the counter. Ring me up
- 54:49Speaker 4: with some sexy sax man.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Oh yeah, sexy sax. Ooh, a swatch ad.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Yeah, some of the ads in there are better than
- 54:55Speaker 4: anything else. They did show.
- 54:58Speaker 2: I don't think anything is going to be better than that.
- 55:01Speaker 2: I want like, where's the rest of the photos from that?
- 55:04Speaker 4: Somewhere. And somebody is in a file folder. Metal storage.
- 55:12Speaker 4: Filed away.
- 55:15Speaker 2: Boyfriend has a new project to work on now. And
- 55:18Speaker 2: that is my car, by the way. Husker do. Oh, right.
- 55:24Speaker 4: Well, that's never going to change. You're always working on.
- 55:28Speaker 2: That's a real memory. Oh, look at this guy's hair.
- 55:33Speaker 2: He's got that little thin on top mullet.
- 55:36Speaker 4: So, you're distracted now, so I will at least say
- 55:39Speaker 4: thank you to Scarefest for letting us go out into
- 55:41Speaker 4: the world, go meet these awesome people. Thank you to Karen.
- 55:45Speaker 4: Thank you to Tyler. And, um, yeah, well, we at
- 55:49Speaker 4: least got to go hang out with them for a
- 55:51Speaker 4: little while, and then hang out with you and tell
- 55:53Speaker 4: you about the awesome things we did today, and weird
- 55:55Speaker 4: movies we watched, and this magazine that you probably wish
- 55:59Speaker 4: you could look at or someone you might be frightened
- 56:01Speaker 4: because it's too sexy for you.
- 56:03Speaker 2: You all can't handle the magnificence that was. I mean,
- 56:08Speaker 2: he still is fucking amazing. But 80s Tim Cappella.
- 56:13Speaker 4: He's too sexy for a shirt. That's why he's not
- 56:15Speaker 4: wearing it.
- 56:16Speaker 2: I mean, David Lee Ross.
- 56:19Speaker 4: Also super sexy. Usually shirtless.
- 56:24Speaker 2: Elvis Costello. No thanks. Ooh, heart.
- 56:27Speaker 4: Oh, there you go.
- 56:30Speaker 2: I'm not trying to say that Timmy Capella is no
- 56:32Speaker 2: longer the gorgeous beast that he was in the 80s.
- 56:34Speaker 2: He still is. Don't get me wrong. But there's just
- 56:37Speaker 2: an extra layer of magnificence.
- 56:41Speaker 4: I think even he knows. He's had a ride since
- 56:43Speaker 4: the 80s. It's a journey and we're all on it, man.
- 56:46Speaker 4: He's still looking pretty damn good as he is these days. So,
- 56:51Speaker 4: go out there and find Tim, too. He's touring around
- 56:54Speaker 4: right now, probably. So, go watch him play his sexy
- 56:56Speaker 4: sax action.
- 56:57Speaker 2: Hell yeah.
- 56:58Speaker 4: But once again, thank you to Scarefest. Go to thescarefest.com
- 57:03Speaker 4: and find out when the next one is coming together
- 57:05Speaker 4: next Halloween times. And then you can start making your
- 57:08Speaker 4: trip there today. I was telling you guys about someone
- 57:10Speaker 4: who I randomly had followed on the internets today. They
- 57:15Speaker 4: live in Florida or something. And then last year just
- 57:18Speaker 4: posting photos. And I'm like, wait, are they at Scarefest?
- 57:21Speaker 4: So like they made the trip from Florida to Scarefest
- 57:24Speaker 4: just to see like one person. This girl today came,
- 57:27Speaker 4: stood in line, drove all the way up here to
- 57:29Speaker 4: see Tyler. So, you know, it's worth the trip. These
- 57:32Speaker 4: people are seeing their heroes. You can be living that life. Oh,
- 57:37Speaker 4: look at this guy.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Blaze. That guy.
- 57:42Speaker 4: This is going to be distracted the rest of the night.
- 57:45Speaker 2: He's wearing a leather jacket and it looks like pleat
- 57:47Speaker 2: front corduroy pants.
- 57:49Speaker 4: Yes, pleats. Not for me. Thank you very much. Alright.
- 57:55Speaker 4: You ready to round it out?
- 57:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 57:57Speaker 4: Do you want to tell people anything else?
- 57:59Speaker 2: Nope.
- 58:00Speaker 5: Alright.
- 58:01Speaker 4: Thank you for going on this journey with us. It
- 58:03Speaker 4: was literally a journey. We were heading up there, heading back.
- 58:06Speaker 4: Thank you to Scarefest for letting us be part of
- 58:08Speaker 4: the magic. Otherwise, that about does it. We will return
- 58:11Speaker 4: next time. Same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 58:13Speaker 2: Bye.
- 58:15Speaker 6: Bye.
- 58:17Speaker 4: As we go along.
- 58:33Speaker 5: I've been in a cave for 40 days Only a
- 58:38Speaker 5: spark to light my way.
- 58:43Speaker 1: I wanna give out, I wanna give in This.
- 58:48Speaker 4: Is our crime, this is our sin But.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I still believe, I still believe Through the pain and
- 58:59Speaker 1: through the grief.
- 59:02Speaker 4: Through the lies, through the storms.
- 59:07Speaker 5: Through the cries and through the wars. oh i still believe.
- 59:40Speaker 1: I'm flat on my back Out at sea Hoping these
- 59:45Speaker 1: waves Don't.
- 59:47Speaker 4: Cover me I'm turned and.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Tossed Upon the waves When the darkness comes I feel
- 59:57Speaker 1: the grave But.
- 59:59Speaker 7: I still believe.
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: I still believe Through the cold And through the heat
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: Through the rain and through the tears, through the crowds
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: and through the tears, oh, I still believe.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: I'll march this road. I'll climb this hill. Upon my knees,
- 1:00:54Speaker 4: if I have to.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: I'll take my place upon this stage. I'll wait till
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: the end.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: I'm out on my own Walking these streets.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: I look at the faces.
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: That I meet I feel like I Like I want
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: to go home What do I feel? What do I know?
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: But I still believe.
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: I still believe Through the.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Shame And through the grief.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Through the heartache, through the tears, through the waiting, through
