- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So today we are talking about overthinking things and how we
- 0:36have a habitual situation of overthinking things as human
- 0:42beings, we are just so prone to the overthinking and the
- 0:47overanalyzing and the overall, we've got a new rooster crowing.
- 0:52For those of you who are regular listeners, that's a new rooster
- 0:56crowing, it's one of the little baby ones and he is Actually
- 1:01really good boy, so it's kind of cool that he is growing now.
- 1:05So anyway, back to my sorry, for a little distraction.
- 1:08They wrote back to my overthinking.
- 1:11So what happens when we get into that state of overthinking, lots
- 1:17of things fire off in our head, lots of things take place and
- 1:21lots of patterns start to jump out and for some of us
- 1:28overthinking is an everyday occurrence.
- 1:30We Just over think because that's what we do.
- 1:32And it's just a part of our. Our normal everyday thing will
- 1:39say, we're going to do something.
- 1:40And then we start thinking about it, we second-guess ourselves
- 1:42and we take forever to make decisions.
- 1:45Now, there are some of us who will sit there and say, well I'm
- 1:47not actually overthinking, I'm just, you know, analyzing I'm
- 1:51going into a state of checking facts.
- 1:54I'm going into lots of different things about my process.
- 1:58Everybody has their way of talking.
- 2:01But it becomes a problem when it goes on too long, it becomes a
- 2:04problem. When it impeding your progress,
- 2:08it becomes a an actual issue when you're not able to make a
- 2:14decision and feel confident with it.
- 2:16You know, there are tons and tons of studies that have been
- 2:18done about this that people who think about something and want
- 2:23to change their mind over thinking over thinking over,
- 2:26think it are far less happy people than those who just make
- 2:30it. Decision and stick with it and
- 2:32just say that's it. It's done the decisions done.
- 2:35I tend to be a very quick decision maker and I tend to be,
- 2:41you know, okay with my decisions in fact, very happy with my
- 2:44decisions. And I've always said, I have,
- 2:48you know, in my family has made comments about the fact that you
- 2:51make decisions very quickly, but the reality is, me overthinking.
- 2:55Them does not help at all. So, if I have something to think
- 2:59about and I really Want to give it time to process it.
- 3:03I will tell you the best strategy I ever found is to set
- 3:06a timeline and say, listen, I'm not qualified to make a decision
- 3:09right now until my emotions come down.
- 3:11I'm going to bring my emotions back to neutral.
- 3:13I'm going to give myself 24 hours and then I'm going to make
- 3:16a decision when I make the decision.
- 3:18That's it, I'm done and then I stick with it, I don't try to
- 3:21mess around with it because the more I mess around with it, the
- 3:24more it gets in my way. So I want to share that with you
- 3:28because I think that giving yourself a Time timeline is
- 3:31super helpful. It's easy.
- 3:33You can you know you don't even go past that timeline and then
- 3:38boom, you know what, you can pull the trigger and not have to
- 3:41overthink it when you feel yourself getting in a situation
- 3:45of overthinking, you don't want to enter into analysis paralysis
- 3:49because God knows that gets. You just on a plane to know
- 3:53where and when you, when you recognize that you are in
- 3:57analysis paralysis, like some of you might rank now be listening
- 4:00to this. And saying, oh my god, I've been
- 4:02in analysis. Paralysis about something as
- 4:04simple as an item, you have to buy like, which one should I
- 4:07get? If you got to get a new phone,
- 4:09you're overanalyzing what phone you should get.
- 4:11If you're going to buy, I know my husband and a lot,
- 4:13overanalyzed a grill for year a year an entire year before he
- 4:17made a decision about which one that he should get.
- 4:20And I just will tell you it steals your joy when you are
- 4:26allowing yourself to get into a state of analysis paralysis.
- 4:30Alice and just keep going back and forth and you know, part of
- 4:34the reason why that doesn't work just to give you a little bit of
- 4:37insight is whatever you're focusing on it changes over
- 4:40time. So let's just use the grill.
- 4:42For example, you start looking at a grill and you take a long
- 4:45time by the time, you admitted decision, guess what?
- 4:47That Grill is now outdated, and there's another version of it.
- 4:50So, you're stuck. You're like, okay, well, I made
- 4:53a decision on this one, but now they came out with another one.
- 4:55Now, I don't know what to do with myself and that just keeps
- 4:57going so rather than put yourself into.
- 5:00That position of overanalyzing overthinking and being stuck,
- 5:05just recognize the person you are in this moment, is not the
- 5:09person. You will be in the next moment
- 5:11and the next day, the next hour. However, you want to look at it.
- 5:14We're constantly evolving constantly growing.
- 5:17So there is room for growth all the time.
- 5:20The decision you make today, if you're not happy with it, in a
- 5:23period of time later, you may make another decision.
- 5:26It's a beautiful thing. You can decide something
- 5:29different, you can move into something different and you can
- 5:32change your mind often. That's why that's available to
- 5:36us, don't get stuck in overthinking and because we get
- 5:40stuck on permanency and most of the things in our life are not
- 5:46permanent. And I we know that we don't like
- 5:49that, but we know it. So consider all of this.
- 5:54Be careful with it. Play with it and don't allow
- 5:57yourself to get into that overthinking.
- 6:00Paralysis and causing yourself to be stuck.
- 6:03It's a waste of time. I hope you guys have a fantastic
- 6:06day and I will see you all tomorrow.
