- 0:03Speaker 1: The dream should like stop specials, Kenny Burns, I am
- 0:08Speaker 1: your favorite Ethiopians solo. It's a remix because the gentleman
- 0:14Speaker 1: to my right invented there. No, he didn't invent the remix,
- 0:17Speaker 1: but he was part of the situation that invented the
- 0:20Speaker 1: red Nick lays gen living legend. That's coach, and I
- 0:27Speaker 1: just want to make it yourself out on your model, Mom,
- 0:39Speaker 1: kisses in the building? Kiss, what's up? Chances Top five
- 0:45Speaker 1: or alive? Still though real bars matter? I mean this
- 0:49Speaker 1: is like you know what I'm saying some decades later, bro,
- 0:51Speaker 1: because it changed several different times since you started rapping.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I was about to say, and you're still in the game.
- 0:57Speaker 1: I think you know your your your new album is
- 0:59Speaker 1: a testament to your growth. Though this is not like,
- 1:03Speaker 1: oh kiss, really, you know what I'm saying. Very personal,
- 1:05Speaker 1: very cerebral, very grown, very musical, and I crafted it
- 1:12Speaker 1: that way because you know, I aspect you know him,
- 1:16Speaker 1: um so you know is the way he carried itself
- 1:21Speaker 1: in a different mannerism. It was grown business and you
- 1:27Speaker 1: know I wanted to represent it and that, like sup,
- 1:32Speaker 1: So being in the game is long, man. I think
- 1:35Speaker 1: you know I often I just asked you what you
- 1:37Speaker 1: moved in to Atlanta. You know, I'm telling about because
- 1:39Speaker 1: I just remember New York being such an electric place,
- 1:42Speaker 1: in such a place of creativity, and it just seems
- 1:45Speaker 1: to have I don't know, man, it's like it's electricity.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Ain't though, that's what it is. But define that though,
- 1:56Speaker 1: because you were part of the air that defined I'm
- 1:59Speaker 1: talking about y'all to get to the level of all
- 2:00Speaker 1: the ogs intended it to go. I mean, it was
- 2:04Speaker 1: a collective effort from the the nightclub scene to the studios,
- 2:11Speaker 1: um different people that would be coming through the powerhouse, studio,
- 2:18Speaker 1: daddy's house. It just ain't like that no more. You know,
- 2:23Speaker 1: A lot of dudes moved down here, a lot of
- 2:25Speaker 1: dudes moved to Cali, a lot of dudes vacated the city.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So it's still creativity there, but that electric that kinetic
- 2:35Speaker 1: energy that used to circulate throughout this city is no
- 2:40Speaker 1: longer there. And I think I see a lot of
- 2:42Speaker 1: influence from the South. I don't know in New York music.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Is that is that a fact? I mean, you got
- 2:47Speaker 1: Brooklyn Drill. They're killing it right now, They're doing they're
- 2:51Speaker 1: doing anything, And then that could be inspired by the South.
- 2:54Speaker 1: It could be inspired by Chicago. It would be you know,
- 2:58Speaker 1: it's definitely not your traditional New York sound, but for me,
- 3:03Speaker 1: as long as it's from New York, I'm happy for it,
- 3:06Speaker 1: just to have something that because sounds evolved definitely, you know.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And I think that's a problem with a lot of
- 3:13Speaker 1: the old g s. And I think a lot of
- 3:15Speaker 1: the old gs really don't want to get as young
- 3:16Speaker 1: as they do just because it's not what we did,
- 3:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean. You don't have to embrace
- 3:21Speaker 1: it all, you know, and that's that's why dudes like
- 3:24Speaker 1: yourself still around, Dudes like myself, the Locks and you
- 3:28Speaker 1: know whoever. It came from that era when you embraced
- 3:32Speaker 1: this new sound and embraced the young and it gives
- 3:37Speaker 1: your career legs, you know what I mean. Sometimes you
- 3:40Speaker 1: listen to it, some of it's really dope. It's really
- 3:43Speaker 1: ca is the harmony, So you know what I mean,
- 3:45Speaker 1: you gotta give it a listen before you just shoot
- 3:48Speaker 1: it down. Let's talk about your cadence it started. I mean,
- 3:51Speaker 1: wait before the Locks. I'm assuming obviously you've always had
- 3:53Speaker 1: this tone in your voice, but the Locks Man one
- 3:55Speaker 1: of the best rap groups of all times. Um, you
- 3:59Speaker 1: shine through that three some Paul's um in a way
- 4:03Speaker 1: that obviously you know, projected you or amplified you to
- 4:07Speaker 1: legendary status. But what was that like being in that supergroup? Man,
- 4:10Speaker 1: y'all came, We got a new album coming up. It's
- 4:13Speaker 1: coming documentary after after after this signatious project is because
- 4:17Speaker 1: we need a doc Like, people don't know how thorough
- 4:20Speaker 1: y'all were, because y'all literally were one of the only
- 4:21Speaker 1: artists that ever was on Bad Boy and left like
- 4:24Speaker 1: in the in the midst of you popping and y'all
- 4:28Speaker 1: was I don't think people really understand that y'all was
- 4:31Speaker 1: like top of the total just cool. I like that
- 4:34Speaker 1: little bit because you know, I was about to fry,
- 4:38Speaker 1: but it might be a nice check. There nothing but
- 4:45Speaker 1: you guys. You guys didn't have no no problems, and
- 4:48Speaker 1: there were legendary things that happened. That's why I say
- 4:50Speaker 1: the documentaries necessary. There was fights, there was all types
- 4:53Speaker 1: of things that happened, but y'all left Bad Boy went
- 4:55Speaker 1: the rough Friders. How did y'all friders was an issue?
- 5:00Speaker 1: Manage it so they actually was then helped us get
- 5:05Speaker 1: the deal on Bad Boy and they placed us Dead
- 5:10Speaker 1: Act started popping. They got their own label deal and
- 5:16Speaker 1: there was no friction. It just felt better to be
- 5:19Speaker 1: over there because that's like where you know what I mean.
- 5:22Speaker 1: They knew us. He was able to artistically do things
- 5:27Speaker 1: that we couldn't do, you know what I mean? But
- 5:31Speaker 1: I feel like Big was like y'all see if Big,
- 5:34Speaker 1: but if But I mean that if we never had
- 5:37Speaker 1: to untimely dems, you might have seen that Mox Friday.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's what I'm saying. Probably want to stay, yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 1: be because he told he told us like he's gonna
- 5:50Speaker 1: make you mad, but he's gonna make your star, like
- 5:52Speaker 1: those ZACT words like he's gonna do some stuff y'all
- 5:55Speaker 1: ain't gonna like, but he's gonna make your stars. And
- 5:59Speaker 1: he he said it just like that. That's his actual quote.
- 6:03Speaker 1: So in the hindsight, that's what happened, you know what
- 6:07Speaker 1: I meant. But that changed everything, definitely, that changed everything.
- 6:14Speaker 1: I look at Big like Big didn't wrap. You know,
- 6:17Speaker 1: he wasn't no juicy dude. He wasn't no hypnotized dude.
- 6:20Speaker 1: He was like ball for ball. That was I was.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Did he influence and I'm sure he grew into that
- 6:24Speaker 1: too because he saw the paper, he saw the lifestyle.
- 6:26Speaker 1: He became that example. But I feel like y'all were
- 6:30Speaker 1: kind of not headed that way, but headed that way.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And it was like, you know what I'm saying, because
- 6:34Speaker 1: the street was just so dynamicou with y'all back there,
- 6:38Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And then with Steve was
- 6:41Speaker 1: Swiss was doing production wise, seemed more befitting of your
- 6:46Speaker 1: your your your That's a fact, you know what I mean.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So so, but if Big, if Big was alive today,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and I just you brought it up, like, where where
- 6:56Speaker 1: would he be in the game, like jay z is,
- 6:59Speaker 1: so it makes me wonder where the game would be entirely,
- 7:03Speaker 1: what music would sound like right now because he was
- 7:07Speaker 1: evolving like that was a great example of someone who
- 7:10Speaker 1: started out here and win here. And we didn't get
- 7:14Speaker 1: the best music from Big. I don't think he had
- 7:17Speaker 1: a lot more music Big game that still you know,
- 7:23Speaker 1: as great as his music was, yet that probably wasn't
- 7:27Speaker 1: as greatest. He was just just getting started, you know,
- 7:31Speaker 1: because I remember when Clark introduced me to Jay and
- 7:34Speaker 1: Dane and we used to be a DND making a
- 7:36Speaker 1: reasonable the album, and all he should talk about was big,
- 7:39Speaker 1: like they used to look up to big in such
- 7:41Speaker 1: a way. And people don't know that because j is
- 7:43Speaker 1: j Now you know what I'm saying. But back then,
- 7:45Speaker 1: like everybody was trying to be big. You feel me? Yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I just wonder, man, I often wonted that. Man, you
- 7:54Speaker 1: haven't released an album in about five years. So with
- 7:58Speaker 1: the change in music, where do you feel like you
- 8:02Speaker 1: fit in or do you feel like you're setting? I
- 8:05Speaker 1: wasn't in jail, or I didn't. I'm still I was
- 8:09Speaker 1: still out head, I'm featured and you know show market place. Yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 1: so I was, you know, and I got a son,
- 8:16Speaker 1: my son, keep you abreast of everything. I try to Yeah,
- 8:26Speaker 1: um yeah, I always. I mean now, I won't do
- 8:31Speaker 1: it anymore because of the way the climate of music.
- 8:34Speaker 1: The last one, No no, no, no, I'm gonna come
- 8:37Speaker 1: with another album probably by the summertime. After the summer.
- 8:42Speaker 1: I'm just saying that's the way the climate of music is.
- 8:46Speaker 1: But me, I would always leave three to four years
- 8:49Speaker 1: or so in between doing the album, just to give
- 8:53Speaker 1: the people whatever I went through from that last album.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Say this, and even from Freddie and Jason I went through,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you know what I mean, going through the thing with
- 9:04Speaker 1: pig a, fighting with colon cancer, had a daughter, you
- 9:08Speaker 1: know what I mean, So it would be a bunch
- 9:10Speaker 1: of stuff real life instead of just talking about my
- 9:14Speaker 1: jury and not much money I got in foreign cards
- 9:17Speaker 1: and all that. I know. That's that's also a part needed.
- 9:22Speaker 1: It's also important that I gave you some real life
- 9:25Speaker 1: pain too, because that resonates more than all the other stuff.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Stay out of the headlines with having this baby outside.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Cut your phone, Come on, bar, you know better than that.
- 9:36Speaker 1: My family was good. My family was good to me.
- 9:40Speaker 1: You know I was able to you know the Lord. Also,
- 9:42Speaker 1: you gotta keep your faith in the Lord and just
- 9:45Speaker 1: try to work things out inside your house. You don't
- 9:48Speaker 1: have to hit sin on every situation in your life.
- 9:53Speaker 1: You know what I mean That some people need to
- 9:55Speaker 1: know that this whole social media world is taking over,
- 9:59Speaker 1: gets into people brains and you know it's not not
- 10:03Speaker 1: the solution for them or healthy. Yeah, or health is
- 10:07Speaker 1: not healthy for handling real life problems. Definitely in front
- 10:12Speaker 1: of the world dies we speaking of health and social media.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I want to say, once upon the time, I think
- 10:19Speaker 1: I believe it was last summer. I've seen Jade because
- 10:22Speaker 1: go do like twenty five pull ups like uh, And
- 10:27Speaker 1: then I got a train. I got a trainer. He's
- 10:30Speaker 1: a bartender. And then that's the guy father. I didn't know, Jada,
- 10:35Speaker 1: because so are you a bartender? Man? You could call
- 10:38Speaker 1: me a bartender? Can you get over the bar? I
- 10:41Speaker 1: can't do the do the little flipping? Well, I only
- 10:43Speaker 1: did one. I can't. I work out all the time.
- 10:45Speaker 1: You can't do it. You guys called it incredible and
- 10:47Speaker 1: you gotta teach you. That's that's how nice it is.
- 10:52Speaker 1: But yeah, I still work at every day. Okay, can
- 10:57Speaker 1: we get another project with you? Fab though? Yeah know
- 11:00Speaker 1: we're gonna we got another Freddie Jason, but we ain't
- 11:03Speaker 1: gonna tell we're gonna. I love that collab marketing and
- 11:06Speaker 1: roll it out differently. Stuff. What young artists? You want
- 11:10Speaker 1: to work with kids? Because I got one. I want
- 11:11Speaker 1: you to work with little baby. Just hitting me working
- 11:15Speaker 1: with a little baby. That's like I like when he
- 11:18Speaker 1: stands for like his music. I like his whole He
- 11:21Speaker 1: came in and you know what I mean, his wave
- 11:24Speaker 1: was mean. He came in hit the ground running. Yeah,
- 11:27Speaker 1: he's another that would be like the ultimate New York
- 11:30Speaker 1: Atlanta collab. I feel like you know what I mean,
- 11:33Speaker 1: what other youngest I got one for you? I like
- 11:35Speaker 1: dog too though, I like I think Doug got some
- 11:39Speaker 1: dog music that, you know what I mean? I like
- 11:43Speaker 1: why being cord A with you. I think he's just
- 11:46Speaker 1: going like some bar from bar had to be a
- 11:50Speaker 1: good texture, so nice. That'd be some good therapeutic music
- 11:55Speaker 1: for the end to be hip hop be hip hop?
- 11:58Speaker 1: What do you think about the that's going on in
- 12:00Speaker 1: New York? Of course RP to pop smoke, but I'm
- 12:03Speaker 1: talking about like five year four, and I felt Smoke
- 12:08Speaker 1: was like he felt like New York. I felt like
- 12:11Speaker 1: he was New York was about to go because I
- 12:13Speaker 1: mean the kids, I don't feel like people from me
- 12:15Speaker 1: like I just New York has a certain swag. It's
- 12:19Speaker 1: a certain energy from there. You shouldn't feel like. That's
- 12:22Speaker 1: what I'm telling, that's what I'm driving. Always tell someone
- 12:24Speaker 1: from New York even before they opened a mouth, the
- 12:26Speaker 1: way their their body language, what they're wearing, like the
- 12:29Speaker 1: swag is just you guys have such a strong presence.
- 12:31Speaker 1: And I don't think people should lose that. I don't
- 12:33Speaker 1: think you should lose that to make records or get
- 12:36Speaker 1: into the music game. I think you should be who
- 12:37Speaker 1: you gonna be. And I think Pop Smoke was giving me.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I mean, he was giving me all of y'all in one,
- 12:43Speaker 1: he really was. He was giving me fifty. He was
- 12:45Speaker 1: giving me kids. He I mean, he had energy, had
- 12:48Speaker 1: New York energy. It was felt and so we're not
- 12:53Speaker 1: in New York. I mean his death, how were they
- 12:56Speaker 1: reacting like with the radio, fully involved with the people.
- 12:58Speaker 1: I mean, I saw the parade, lot of love, a
- 13:00Speaker 1: lot of love, big love, big love. Shouldn't wish she
- 13:05Speaker 1: was here to get to love. And he feels like
- 13:10Speaker 1: he was young, young like that. That's that really heard
- 13:13Speaker 1: it more than you know me, especially having the twenty
- 13:15Speaker 1: three old son Boom. That's tragic. Lors. Yeah, let me
- 13:21Speaker 1: ask you a question, man, saying that about your son
- 13:23Speaker 1: and the loss of Pop Smoke as a father now
- 13:27Speaker 1: and what you did in the beginning and we all
- 13:29Speaker 1: grow up. I mean, that's that's that's called evolution, you
- 13:32Speaker 1: know I'm talking about. But you you are always conscious
- 13:36Speaker 1: along the way in your rhymes like you. I mean,
- 13:38Speaker 1: we talked dope, we talked cars, we talked but I
- 13:40Speaker 1: think you always had a certain level of consciousness. You
- 13:43Speaker 1: always did what slip with Joel in there? Um, that's
- 13:47Speaker 1: just from growing up listening to the k rs Is
- 13:51Speaker 1: and rock caimedon Nass and Keynes and you know Big
- 13:56Speaker 1: Jay's and all of that. But I always try to
- 13:59Speaker 1: slip a message in there too, because they always they
- 14:02Speaker 1: already they're already down playing the whole hip hop coach
- 14:09Speaker 1: and think we ignorant, and think we just reckless with money,
- 14:13Speaker 1: and you know what I mean, anything we depreciate the
- 14:17Speaker 1: value of luxury soul. You always gotta slip them jewels
- 14:21Speaker 1: and into the younger, and I think the youngest Google
- 14:24Speaker 1: rock Him Eric being rock Him right now, listen to
- 14:26Speaker 1: the alum painful rock Him looked. And I'm from Washington,
- 14:29Speaker 1: D C. And when I was in the streets, I
- 14:31Speaker 1: never forget this. I saw rock Him rapping, but he
- 14:34Speaker 1: had to dapper dance, you know, so I thought he
- 14:36Speaker 1: was a hustler. But then when I listened to the album,
- 14:39Speaker 1: he didn't even curse it. He didn't even curse think
- 14:43Speaker 1: another master plan. Ain't nothing but sweating side of my head.
- 14:46Speaker 1: So I dig into my pocket. All my money was
- 14:48Speaker 1: spent I dig deep with still coming up with landing,
- 14:52Speaker 1: you know. But I'm just saying, but you remind when
- 14:56Speaker 1: I never I never forget when first played your ship
- 15:00Speaker 1: and I'm like, yo, these kids are like y'all were
- 15:03Speaker 1: on some like you know what I'm saying, some Gulley
- 15:05Speaker 1: Gully Gully. But but you had this presence, bro, they
- 15:09Speaker 1: one I heard so appreciate. I just want to salute
- 15:12Speaker 1: for consistency with that because this signaous album reminds me
- 15:16Speaker 1: of a fully conscious you. If you get what I'm saying, appreciate.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I'm not trying to sound funny, right, So Florida. I
- 15:22Speaker 1: grew up in Florida, and I always wanted to ask
- 15:26Speaker 1: somebody really from New York this question, how important is
- 15:30Speaker 1: the Timberland boots? And when were you introduced? And I'm serious,
- 15:34Speaker 1: I want to know, because I really want to know
- 15:37Speaker 1: how important is the Timberland's being a part of the
- 15:41Speaker 1: culture for from you? Like when were you introduced to it?
- 15:46Speaker 1: And I can remember my feet me into small because
- 15:52Speaker 1: back then, now I got little kids, all my kids
- 15:56Speaker 1: all got you know, they all got Tim's, but it
- 16:00Speaker 1: was a time when my feet was too small. The
- 16:03Speaker 1: actual construction boot for the heavy ass boots. I didn't
- 16:06Speaker 1: get regular into ladies. Ships killed me for the whole year.
- 16:12Speaker 1: My feet that grow so bad. I mean my mom
- 16:17Speaker 1: there then went around the old city looking for a
- 16:19Speaker 1: pit in my side. So that's all serious. What is
- 16:23Speaker 1: rules too? Right? You can't wear like the low top
- 16:25Speaker 1: one but naked without the leather part of sold you
- 16:30Speaker 1: gotta have the brown leather bubble on the top button
- 16:33Speaker 1: naked without without it. I've seen that they will shashonate
- 16:40Speaker 1: you and Philly, you come through with him. Yeah, that's
- 16:42Speaker 1: why I asked that question. And they got lower tops. Really,
- 16:45Speaker 1: they got low top tims. You can't wear those either.
- 16:50Speaker 1: In Broccoli Lost they got something that you know, you
- 16:55Speaker 1: shouldn't ask for your size off the show. But there
- 16:58Speaker 1: was a script for y'all back in the day too,
- 17:00Speaker 1: just like DC. We had a script. It was black,
- 17:02Speaker 1: gray and white. We wore gold domes. We were you know, tims.
- 17:05Speaker 1: But y'all like and we only wore we only wore
- 17:06Speaker 1: we tims in the in the black joints, right, And
- 17:10Speaker 1: but y'all didn't wear all them colors and all that
- 17:12Speaker 1: they got red and now they got all that It was.
- 17:16Speaker 1: You couldn't do all that. You couldn't do it. They
- 17:18Speaker 1: wasn't even available. They didn't even have them back. Okay,
- 17:21Speaker 1: all right, let me take the low top tims off
- 17:23Speaker 1: my birthday list. You look cute girls with the low
- 17:27Speaker 1: top tims. No nobody can wear them, tim, they got
- 17:30Speaker 1: wet tim tims. Then I mean something New York. Ye.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I don't want to go on any borrow or whatever
- 17:38Speaker 1: because you know I'm not from there, but I do
- 17:40Speaker 1: some queens. You know. Uh, this is affecting my bag.
- 17:45Speaker 1: I know it's affect that you're bad, especially after the
- 17:48Speaker 1: n c A talked about it, announced it, UM and
- 17:51Speaker 1: NBA just said this has spending games to further notice,
- 17:54Speaker 1: UM not canceling the season. Like everybody said, your Instagram
- 17:57Speaker 1: is the worst. Social media can be the worst for
- 17:59Speaker 1: ship like this. Um. But what do you think about
- 18:02Speaker 1: this coronavirus? Man? I think it's political. I think they're
- 18:06Speaker 1: over doing this. It's a conspiracy there. Like me, I
- 18:09Speaker 1: think you should have been washing your hands ever since
- 18:11Speaker 1: you touch. Don't touch the counta and don't touch when
- 18:16Speaker 1: you out with your mom, touching the door knobs and
- 18:19Speaker 1: the hygiene and the mall and they always make you
- 18:22Speaker 1: washing hands, and so we should have been washing our
- 18:25Speaker 1: hands and covering up when you sneeze and protecting your
- 18:30Speaker 1: face and light sol and so you know what I mean.
- 18:33Speaker 1: It's just that as moll and, I think black people
- 18:36Speaker 1: pigment and melan and fights it off in a different
- 18:40Speaker 1: manner than other ethnic backgrounds. So it's not as serious,
- 18:45Speaker 1: you know. It's it's like catching the cold, and they're
- 18:49Speaker 1: not telling you who's getting cured. People are getting this.
- 18:52Speaker 1: It's saying the news and it meting is displaying the
- 18:56Speaker 1: cases at the most. It's like when you when you
- 19:00Speaker 1: get a case and you catch a case and the
- 19:03Speaker 1: first time you go and to judge the numbers as
- 19:06Speaker 1: tronamenal but years send good. But you know it's not
- 19:10Speaker 1: gonna be like that's what's going on with the media.
- 19:12Speaker 1: And you see if you watch the social media, you
- 19:15Speaker 1: see these viruses come out every time, every election time.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And that's what they were saying. Soon as the candidate tuon,
- 19:22Speaker 1: as it gets now down to the it gets down
- 19:25Speaker 1: to the come down, it's gonna disappear. It doesn't looks
- 19:29Speaker 1: like Trump is infected right now. He definitely looks at
- 19:33Speaker 1: a little Yeah, but I'll say this, and these are
- 19:40Speaker 1: the facts. There are more people that are not dying
- 19:45Speaker 1: from corona, correct, and there they are the only reporting.
- 19:50Speaker 1: And then the other fact is you have to have
- 19:53Speaker 1: like if you have a weak immune system, anything we
- 19:56Speaker 1: penetrate to splain. Yeah, that's that's true, but this is
- 20:01Speaker 1: not being perpetuated. And then you also look with children, right,
- 20:06Speaker 1: babies have weak commune system because they're developing, but kids
- 20:09Speaker 1: stronger than that anyway has been affected. And I want
- 20:15Speaker 1: you to remember the only older, older people who have
- 20:18Speaker 1: weak immune system that anything, any type of ailment could
- 20:23Speaker 1: have killed them anyway. But they just pushing it over
- 20:26Speaker 1: like I'm we're saying, but let's they have like pre
- 20:32Speaker 1: existing things to like diabetes, high blood pressure. Yeah, that
- 20:37Speaker 1: all matters. So we don't want you how to think
- 20:38Speaker 1: it's only old people. But if you're if you it
- 20:44Speaker 1: will affect you more. Let's go left. China kills their
- 20:49Speaker 1: own you know, they control, so let's get I just
- 20:54Speaker 1: want to freak you all out of it. It's in
- 20:56Speaker 1: the government that they control the population. Yeah, oh no,
- 20:59Speaker 1: they had a one time you couldn't have a you
- 21:00Speaker 1: have to have a boy or a girl or something
- 21:02Speaker 1: you haven't have to get rid of it. They say
- 21:03Speaker 1: they got bill skyscrapers with all friends. Oh I don't
- 21:06Speaker 1: want this baby, This is all speculation. Let me tell
- 21:09Speaker 1: you fact. Let me tell you fact. They have They
- 21:13Speaker 1: have methods in ways of controlling the population. That is
- 21:16Speaker 1: a fact. They do that. Right, Trump goes against who
- 21:22Speaker 1: the most. Let's talk about two superpowers that it goes
- 21:24Speaker 1: to the most, China and Russia. Right, So you want
- 21:29Speaker 1: to hello, you want to think about one. You ain't
- 21:33Speaker 1: heard nothing about Russia in this Let's just keep it
- 21:35Speaker 1: one thousand. Has anyone in the room, anybody anybody camera?
- 21:38Speaker 1: I have heard anything about Russia and the coronavirus. I
- 21:42Speaker 1: want to ask coronavirus. Now you look at China just
- 21:50Speaker 1: letting people come back outside. Now, initially they was burning
- 21:53Speaker 1: they had infrared old builders. They were supposedly burning people
- 21:56Speaker 1: that but they do that anyway. You got to be
- 22:00Speaker 1: aware of what they're trying to do to Trump. And
- 22:04Speaker 1: like you just said, you just said, it is political.
- 22:07Speaker 1: This has to be political. It is an election year.
- 22:10Speaker 1: You want to get the rhetoric, call for the man.
- 22:13Speaker 1: Just that the third what better way than the scared
- 22:15Speaker 1: the entire universe with the disease, with the pandemic. So
- 22:19Speaker 1: many people are actually concerned though that they are actually
- 22:21Speaker 1: trying to get us into martial law, like they're trying
- 22:24Speaker 1: to use this shut martial law. Yeah, saying you can't
- 22:28Speaker 1: leave the house right now, you can't in Europe. Yeah.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I called a man that he had to chatz French
- 22:34Speaker 1: dude over there, the mayor, you got to come home, Chad.
- 22:37Speaker 1: The Orange man just said you're gonna be stuck over
- 22:38Speaker 1: there for thirty and have to be quarantined. My thing convinced.
- 22:42Speaker 1: And this is another thing. You know, these white people,
- 22:45Speaker 1: I'm gonna say it, they cannot not get the bad
- 22:48Speaker 1: they cannot not have the economy going. But do you
- 22:52Speaker 1: know thirty of these people's wealth has gone thirty It
- 22:56Speaker 1: has been the biggest low in the stock market since
- 22:58Speaker 1: two thousand eight, you know, talking about and even like
- 23:01Speaker 1: what else we host you you perform. I'm just dollars
- 23:06Speaker 1: right now just because some mean I just got we
- 23:10Speaker 1: just awesome final four the McDonald's all America. I mean
- 23:14Speaker 1: it's gonna be the scheme mask way in two minutes.
- 23:16Speaker 1: You don't feel it, We're gonna feel because they that's
- 23:21Speaker 1: what's happened the money that's and they can't afford that
- 23:25Speaker 1: didn't deal with perell toilet tissue and know because they
- 23:28Speaker 1: were the whole of big downs. Where the toilet paper coming?
- 23:34Speaker 1: How did somebody tell me? What does the toilet paper?
- 23:37Speaker 1: If you stay at home, you need some toilet papers? Know?
- 23:40Speaker 1: That just shows you they can put the ship in
- 23:41Speaker 1: the social sphere and you won't go do it just
- 23:44Speaker 1: toilet paper. It's a tail as old as time. This
- 23:47Speaker 1: is something that they've been doing to us year after
- 23:49Speaker 1: year after year. I mean we know this already. I'm
- 23:51Speaker 1: just I don't know, man. I don't want to be
- 23:53Speaker 1: where they woke. Be mouthful, wash your hands like you
- 23:56Speaker 1: should have been doing, just to be getting the time. Anyway,
- 24:01Speaker 1: it's twenty twenty. We're supposed to be flying cars, not
- 24:04Speaker 1: not teaching people how to how to protect themselves. Let
- 24:07Speaker 1: me tell you what needs to happen. What needs to
- 24:08Speaker 1: happen is what they're do in Italy. Forget these mortgage
- 24:11Speaker 1: payments for a little Morgans. That's how you get elected
- 24:18Speaker 1: votes to spend the Morgans four minutes. I ain't gonna
- 24:21Speaker 1: do that ship, No, I mean I think that actually
- 24:24Speaker 1: they didn't take it seriously enough. Do you realize how
- 24:26Speaker 1: much money they lose? Like the for the instant double A,
- 24:30Speaker 1: and it's well, you know what's supposed be in Atlanta
- 24:31Speaker 1: what but but it's it's worth keeping your nation's safe,
- 24:35Speaker 1: to keep it your safe from all fans to the
- 24:38Speaker 1: canceled That's what I'm saying. No, no, no, no, no, no,
- 24:41Speaker 1: they're not I'm not gonna have fans cancel the conference tournament. Yes,
- 24:46Speaker 1: the n C Double A is gonna be played with
- 24:49Speaker 1: his family and the team. But it's gonna be family
- 24:53Speaker 1: right now, team staff. Yea, that's what That's how they
- 24:58Speaker 1: quoted William. She's not having a live studio audience audience
- 25:01Speaker 1: for our showy. My point is, what is they're sending
- 25:10Speaker 1: people home from school. You know this for Harvard now
- 25:12Speaker 1: like all these they're sending their kids home saying you
- 25:14Speaker 1: gotta fit. Okay, well, what do you know one or two?
- 25:17Speaker 1: How can you recover n C Double A? Do you
- 25:20Speaker 1: realize how much money they're losing? This would not be
- 25:23Speaker 1: happening if it wasn't. And this is where my conspiracy
- 25:26Speaker 1: thing goes left, because they're talking sixty days, thirty days,
- 25:29Speaker 1: you gotta stay in the house for two weeks to
- 25:30Speaker 1: know if you're gonna be all right. It's like, what
- 25:32Speaker 1: are you really saying, because there's a lot of money
- 25:34Speaker 1: being left on the table. You're talking about the NBA season.
- 25:40Speaker 1: You you're telling me that the NBA can really they
- 25:43Speaker 1: got to pay the players. There's no this is not
- 25:46Speaker 1: about it with force major. What'sn't our contracts every time?
- 25:49Speaker 1: The act of God. This ain't no act of God.
- 25:51Speaker 1: This is not This is a disease. It has to be.
- 25:57Speaker 1: It has to be. Now they're saying it comes from
- 25:59Speaker 1: vats where essentially could have been a god, one of
- 26:02Speaker 1: God's creatures. Whatever they But this is man made. Bro,
- 26:06Speaker 1: this don't happen. It's a fact. And Trump, if you were,
- 26:09Speaker 1: if you were woke, if Trump was a great leader,
- 26:11Speaker 1: all this ship he talking about it don't matter. He
- 26:14Speaker 1: probably got it there, if he was really a good
- 26:16Speaker 1: leader when it started anything coming out of China. Your facts.
- 26:20Speaker 1: But guess what we can't do that Our economy was
- 26:23Speaker 1: shut down if we didn't get our ship out of China,
- 26:25Speaker 1: and it would have got worse. Because the eight um
- 26:28Speaker 1: south By Southwest has a had a little clinic thing
- 26:33Speaker 1: that the people people from Asia came over, because you know,
- 26:36Speaker 1: that's really what the south By Southwest gets their money.
- 26:38Speaker 1: They have a showcase that down that was the first.
- 26:44Speaker 1: They have a little festival for people that are in Asia,
- 26:47Speaker 1: the showcase like their inventions and like clothes and all
- 26:51Speaker 1: that ship that should be going on on the side.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Let me even remember two thousand you want to start,
- 26:56Speaker 1: I'm in the house of market crash who came over
- 26:58Speaker 1: him bought everything the Chinese. So y'all keep thinking that
- 27:03Speaker 1: this ain't no motherfucking biological warfare if you want to,
- 27:06Speaker 1: I'm on one part the lack of precautions. Why did
- 27:13Speaker 1: they let so many people fly back into the States
- 27:15Speaker 1: without screening them or testing them before sending them off.
- 27:19Speaker 1: It doesn't make sense to me. They literally wanted this
- 27:21Speaker 1: to happen. This is what they wanted to happen. You
- 27:25Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, Like how and and this is
- 27:28Speaker 1: another thing, And this is all my artists, all my creatives,
- 27:31Speaker 1: Like I had Ronnie d Vote called me last night.
- 27:33Speaker 1: He had a brilliant idea. I'm not gonna say it
- 27:34Speaker 1: because we probably end up doing it. Boy, this is
- 27:36Speaker 1: the time to create new ways to make money right now,
- 27:40Speaker 1: because you have to survive. We mean, as black people
- 27:44Speaker 1: have had to do this since the beginning of time.
- 27:46Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Do not go to the
- 27:48Speaker 1: desperate measures of robbing and stealing this that in the
- 27:51Speaker 1: third call your mother, Morris, come tell you can't pay it?
- 27:54Speaker 1: Tell us. So I'm dead serious because I think like
- 27:56Speaker 1: people are gonna be underpression in a minute. If this
- 27:58Speaker 1: ship goes on in three to the third of money,
- 28:00Speaker 1: you're missing work. How are you gonna how are you
- 28:02Speaker 1: going to people? Because everybody ain't no salary? Guy, Yeah,
- 28:06Speaker 1: you're right, they're going ahead. They called Marsha lord because
- 28:11Speaker 1: they just gonna go crazy, right and they can't survive
- 28:14Speaker 1: like us. You know, we are in a government state.
- 28:18Speaker 1: That's when the tanks are coming into your neighborhood. You
- 28:21Speaker 1: can't leave. We can't have concept Mary, which you're still
- 28:26Speaker 1: on tickets of flying. You know about birthday? You're coming,
- 28:29Speaker 1: what's happening? Let me get my birthday before they shut
- 28:31Speaker 1: us down. There ain't nobody shutting nothing down if Keisha,
- 28:34Speaker 1: I don't think Keisha would do that. First of all,
- 28:36Speaker 1: she notices a black city. The only way we eat
- 28:40Speaker 1: is by going out and getting it. She know that. Yeah,
- 28:44Speaker 1: and you can't listen, it's airborne. Let's go back to that.
- 28:48Speaker 1: It's airborne. You can't prevent that. If it's coming, you can't.
- 28:53Speaker 1: You can't. So I don't know. I appreciate that coronavirus
- 28:59Speaker 1: is a big deal. And we don't have any hip
- 29:01Speaker 1: hop legends really speaking on that acting our bags. But
- 29:05Speaker 1: you know, washings keep your life, so keep you chlorax wipes,
- 29:10Speaker 1: keep your surfaces clean, watching watch the crowds, watch less
- 29:15Speaker 1: contact is possible to Jay, I got a question, um,
- 29:20Speaker 1: back to you legend status in my long successful tenure,
- 29:26Speaker 1: usually artists of your statue have about ten albums, fifteen albums,
- 29:32Speaker 1: and then of course me growing up in the South,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I know rappers that have like twenty albums, ten mixtapes.
- 29:40Speaker 1: How how is it for you like that? And I
- 29:43Speaker 1: know I know you said it, Yeah, I know that
- 29:45Speaker 1: you said that every three years. But what keeps you,
- 29:48Speaker 1: like you know on like, what keeps your pace to
- 29:53Speaker 1: do such a few albums would be so successful in
- 29:57Speaker 1: a time where you have to put out a whole
- 29:59Speaker 1: money account little rough ride albums. You gotta features, bad Boy,
- 30:03Speaker 1: No Way Out, I wrote most of that. You got
- 30:06Speaker 1: to count publishing get a little John features too, because
- 30:10Speaker 1: I remember them. I was in the A heavily before use,
- 30:14Speaker 1: one of the first people in the South. Remember that.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Um yeah, so you I should have had more solo albums,
- 30:22Speaker 1: but you start touring life taking type of but there
- 30:27Speaker 1: was a demand for more album because I remember, like,
- 30:32Speaker 1: but I'm gonna tell you, man, every time he shows
- 30:34Speaker 1: up anywhere, it's almost like the Erra shows up, Like
- 30:38Speaker 1: we was just in Chicago, you know what I'm saying.
- 30:40Speaker 1: Remember when you came we he came on stage at
- 30:43Speaker 1: the party I was hosting, and literally the reaction and
- 30:46Speaker 1: we always look at each other like that, because I
- 30:48Speaker 1: feel like this, I feel like you didn't think none
- 30:50Speaker 1: of this was gonna happen. I feel like I didn't
- 30:51Speaker 1: think like you didn't know back in the that you
- 30:53Speaker 1: were just put one foot in front of you. You know,
- 30:55Speaker 1: hip hop is still a baby. It's just about the
- 30:57Speaker 1: term fifty years old. So it's gonna be all we
- 31:00Speaker 1: we we we we. We were learning on a whim,
- 31:04Speaker 1: like it's gonna it's gonna change dramatically a lot more
- 31:07Speaker 1: it already has. It's only about to be fifty years old.
- 31:12Speaker 1: You don't know what's gonna happen, like with the coach
- 31:15Speaker 1: of him, you know. So so I love that, and
- 31:17Speaker 1: that sets up the next question, where would you like
- 31:20Speaker 1: it to go? Being one of the that was a
- 31:23Speaker 1: great question because this is one of the I love this, Yeah,
- 31:27Speaker 1: because I think, to be honest with you, you took
- 31:29Speaker 1: it from our forefathers, your generation, our generation, and we
- 31:34Speaker 1: took it to where we can really monetize it. Now.
- 31:36Speaker 1: You see there's no limit to the space right now.
- 31:39Speaker 1: We need more balance. Hello, I mean it's it's a
- 31:43Speaker 1: lot of money being made. Um. In my era, the
- 31:49Speaker 1: budgets with bigging the video production these videos was like
- 31:56Speaker 1: Stillburg movies and the the money he was spending. They're
- 32:03Speaker 1: doing it now but different there was no three. They
- 32:06Speaker 1: had to make up a lot of money because they
- 32:07Speaker 1: didn't get with the digital wave. When the outlets came
- 32:11Speaker 1: to them and said this was gonna happen, and they
- 32:13Speaker 1: told him kiss my ass and didn't had the recool
- 32:16Speaker 1: balling them billions of dollar hundreds of billions that they lost.
- 32:19Speaker 1: So that's what's going on now. But when I say
- 32:22Speaker 1: it's unbalanced, I mean you see how they're letting Griselda,
- 32:27Speaker 1: west Side, Benny and Conway. For every one of them
- 32:31Speaker 1: type of texture groups, they let a hundred and fifty
- 32:35Speaker 1: other bullshits, and so it keeps it the scale is
- 32:39Speaker 1: not right. So we could just get a little more balanced.
- 32:42Speaker 1: I think that's got to shape things out a little better,
- 32:45Speaker 1: because I love I love all of the music, but
- 32:49Speaker 1: they let one real petitive. They let a lot of
- 32:52Speaker 1: bullshit and so scaling right. Yeah, So so they popped
- 32:56Speaker 1: up quick though. The Griselda and the Billings in the night.
- 32:59Speaker 1: They they they've been they they been shooting. They've been
- 33:03Speaker 1: going awful a while. Like it took them, you know
- 33:05Speaker 1: what I mean. They got with him and Paul Rosenberg,
- 33:08Speaker 1: and I was able to get them over the hull.
- 33:10Speaker 1: They've been trying for they've been they've been up there
- 33:13Speaker 1: trying to break the door down in Buffalo, forking your respect.
- 33:16Speaker 1: J just went to the show the other day. I'm like, wow,
- 33:18Speaker 1: these kids are really it's because they're staying in the lane.
- 33:20Speaker 1: They ain't wave riding. They're making people tend what they're
- 33:24Speaker 1: doing instead of just trying to listen to the billboard
- 33:28Speaker 1: and do what the the sound of today is they're
- 33:31Speaker 1: going their own sound and making and building their fans
- 33:34Speaker 1: and their core fan base like that, and I think
- 33:37Speaker 1: that's brilliant in the balance of our needs. Yes, so
- 33:41Speaker 1: the music is out there. I just think, you know,
- 33:43Speaker 1: the mainstream market, like you said, is really forcing us
- 33:46Speaker 1: to listen to the same thing over and over again.
- 33:48Speaker 1: So you have to dig, and I think a lot
- 33:50Speaker 1: of the younger kids, I don't know how to do that.
- 33:53Speaker 1: They're used to just going to iTunes or going to
- 33:55Speaker 1: someone's Instagram or YouTube and finding what they need and
- 33:58Speaker 1: they're satisfied with that. But when we get to have
- 34:01Speaker 1: these opportunities to interview people like you, I think it
- 34:03Speaker 1: really does expose them to something different. It makes them
- 34:06Speaker 1: want to go back and be like, Okay, hold on,
- 34:08Speaker 1: I got to use the whole plate. Like it's helpful
- 34:11Speaker 1: even for me to put my music on TikTok and
- 34:15Speaker 1: Thriller and all of that stuff. You tape it. I
- 34:23Speaker 1: don't tape it, but you're right, You're right. I don't
- 34:25Speaker 1: take myself, but it's necessary, right, Like, like, if you're
- 34:27Speaker 1: trying to connect to the younger crowd, yeah, for show,
- 34:32Speaker 1: you got to talk to them in the language that
- 34:33Speaker 1: they understand. You know, you gotta make yourself visible. So
- 34:36Speaker 1: make it work for you compromising or looking corny or
- 34:40Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I make it all work.
- 34:43Speaker 1: That's the challenge of the today's climate of music is
- 34:47Speaker 1: figuring it out man, you know. I mean it's so digital.
- 34:51Speaker 1: As you see, I'm doing a digital thing. I'm also
- 34:54Speaker 1: making these trips and stop and touch the people. Do
- 34:58Speaker 1: you got year old? So you know you formula that
- 35:01Speaker 1: I was raised. Get out on the road and hand
- 35:05Speaker 1: see the people. Definitely be calling me, Oh, you're nervous
- 35:08Speaker 1: about the corona. Shut up to get to the bathers.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Are I would tell you this, import me to sanitizing.
- 35:17Speaker 1: You set me up some more radio. Make sure make
- 35:20Speaker 1: sure all the reps are washing their motherfucking hands. I
- 35:23Speaker 1: would say this to you, man, um And you know
- 35:27Speaker 1: you guys got any more questions? Before I get to them,
- 35:30Speaker 1: I asked my Timberling question, that's all I want to
- 35:33Speaker 1: know about about the collapse on your album, like how
- 35:36Speaker 1: they came about? How did you select to work with
- 35:38Speaker 1: these people? They were actually all people that um Ice
- 35:42Speaker 1: Pick would always be in my air about in the studio,
- 35:46Speaker 1: could work with, but I would always just shove him
- 35:49Speaker 1: off because I thought he was gonna be with me forever.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I thought I had the time to do it forever,
- 35:54Speaker 1: Like yeah, Push you you know he gotta pick also
- 35:59Speaker 1: work for Star Track. So that's like our family for
- 36:05Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Um, So he always wanted me to
- 36:07Speaker 1: work with Push John Legend, you know, we always always
- 36:12Speaker 1: wanted to and he always like, yeah, we gotta get
- 36:14Speaker 1: a John Legend collapse. So he was able to make
- 36:17Speaker 1: that happen. Um to chance. He love, he loved his downside,
- 36:21Speaker 1: he loved his voice outside you love you love him
- 36:25Speaker 1: and change rap. So that was I want to made
- 36:28Speaker 1: that happen. Um, Dave's Loaf was able to get. Yeah,
- 36:37Speaker 1: just all of them features with people that he asked
- 36:39Speaker 1: me to work with. I used to just strugglem off
- 36:43Speaker 1: so you know, make his legacy continue. I just tried

- 36:52Speaker 1: out digitally everywhere right now, right now, check it out. Great,
- 36:56Speaker 1: say you're super proud of that. Every time I hear
- 36:58Speaker 1: in the interview, you're just talking about how my what
- 37:00Speaker 1: it means to you know, love that you gave you
- 37:03Speaker 1: know who. That was a great question because I didn't
- 37:04Speaker 1: even think about like all those artists were that we
- 37:07Speaker 1: didn't know the artist he talked, you know what I'm saying,
- 37:10Speaker 1: So that's that was brilliant man. Congratulations and now it's time.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Fucking Fucius said, yeah, kids, I drop a little nuggety
- 37:20Speaker 1: once in a while, man, but I want to give
- 37:21Speaker 1: your flowers while you're sitting in front of me. I

- 37:31Speaker 1: you can lead this new generation. I think exactly what
- 37:34Speaker 1: you said. There needs to be more balanced in life,
- 37:37Speaker 1: especially hip hop, since that's the driving force behind everything
- 37:40Speaker 1: we all do. Let's not act like, you know, hip
- 37:43Speaker 1: hop is not our civil rights movement. Let's not act
- 37:46Speaker 1: like hip hop is not, you know, saying the fucking
- 37:49Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, founders found in America, Like
- 37:51Speaker 1: you know that that's our thing and you are pioneering
- 37:54Speaker 1: that and you have to please brother. You know. I
- 37:58Speaker 1: know you speak through your music, but I see colleges
- 38:00Speaker 1: and universities accepting you with open arms, and you're sharing
- 38:03Speaker 1: your stories because all history books, English books can teach
- 38:07Speaker 1: you your stories, you know I'm talking about and you
- 38:09Speaker 1: have so many. Man, I didn't want to really get
- 38:11Speaker 1: into it because you told me not to fry puff.
- 38:13Speaker 1: But I really, really, really that was a joke. Everybody
- 38:15Speaker 1: should have laughed. Um, But I really, really really honor
- 38:19Speaker 1: your journey because it's it's truly been one step in
- 38:21Speaker 1: front of the other. And that's sometimes all people need
- 38:23Speaker 1: to know. It's not as difficult as we make it.
- 38:25Speaker 1: We don't have to put all that pressure on ourselves.
- 38:27Speaker 1: It's about putting one fucking foot in front of the
- 38:30Speaker 1: other man. So we salute you, we love you, and
- 38:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna tapt you up as soon as this ship
- 38:34Speaker 1: is over. You know, the coronavirus to Atlanta, no doubt,
- 38:40Speaker 1: juices for life. And for the record, I got my laugh.
- 38:42Speaker 1: After you, I'll be saying that I believe that hold on,
- 38:48Speaker 1: can you do it once? And then you do your
- 38:52Speaker 1: I'm probably make your mind you in that, just so
- 38:56Speaker 1: you know, I don't mind. You know that man say
