- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on? It's Romeo, and we talked about
- 0:02Speaker 1: our relationships with Michael Biehn. We got a little MLB,
- 0:05Speaker 1: a little football talk, and then, of course, we had
- 0:07Speaker 1: MCOR stop by, and we talked about your heating and
- 0:09Speaker 1: air conditioning. And when you found out you had a kid,
- 0:13Speaker 1: what happened? I got to tell you about this. I
- 0:18Speaker 1: have a friend who is going back to Alabama, going
- 0:24Speaker 1: back to Bama, maybe Birmingham, for a wedding.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Right?
- 0:28Speaker 1: And he tells me this. He goes, yeah, he was
- 0:30Speaker 1: telling about how he's going back. His cousin's getting married. And,
- 0:33Speaker 1: you know, a little bit about the way. Oh, man,
- 0:34Speaker 1: it sounds like fun, right? Then he proceeds to tell
- 0:39Speaker 1: me yesterday. No, it was yesterday. I don't know. First
- 0:43Speaker 1: he tells me he's going back for this wedding. He says, oh,
- 0:47Speaker 1: by the way, we're going to the night before the wedding.
- 0:50Speaker 1: We're going to have the dinner. You know how you
- 0:52Speaker 1: have a dinner before the wedding? It's going to be
- 0:54Speaker 1: at the house. And it's a taco bar. I mean,
- 1:00Speaker 1: I don't know how you don't laugh at that, okay?
- 1:03Speaker 1: A taco bar. You're going all the way to Alabama
- 1:07Speaker 1: to eat some terrible taco. Ain't nobody ever made a
- 1:10Speaker 1: good Mexican dish in the Midwest or in backwards Bama, okay?
- 1:19Speaker 1: So you're going for a taco bar. So that was funny.
- 1:24Speaker 1: That was funny in itself. You know it's going to
- 1:27Speaker 1: be terrible. With all the good food and soul food
- 1:30Speaker 1: that is made in that area, you're going to have tacos, right? So, okay,
- 1:36Speaker 1: good luck. We're laughing about it. So he proceeds to
- 1:39Speaker 1: tell me this morning it gets even better. They said
- 1:44Speaker 1: we're going to have a Mexican taco bar. What's a
- 1:48Speaker 1: Mexican taco bar? Cilantro and onion. Ground beef. Cilantro and onion.
- 1:56Speaker 1: That's the Mexican taco bar. But they're also going to
- 1:59Speaker 1: have an American taco bar. How many of you can
- 2:03Speaker 1: guess what an American taco bar is in Bama? Cheese.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Ground beef tacos. If you want it Mexican style, you
- 2:15Speaker 1: get cilantro and onion. If you want it American style,
- 2:18Speaker 1: you get shredded cheese. Sounds like it's going to be
- 2:24Speaker 1: a great dinner before your wedding. I don't know who
- 2:29Speaker 1: came up with that idea, but, oh, that's a terrible idea. R-8-4-2-5-4-7-7. Funny,
- 2:37Speaker 1: my boy's heading back to Bama. He's going to his
- 2:42Speaker 1: cousin's wedding. And the night before... the wedding, they're having
- 2:48Speaker 1: a taco bar. Which, right, we all know that the
- 2:51Speaker 1: taco guy shows up, you know, got some carne asada,
- 2:54Speaker 1: got some chicken, you got some El Pastor, you got,
- 2:57Speaker 1: I mean, you know what I'm saying? We know what
- 3:00Speaker 1: it's all about, but this taco bar is going to
- 3:04Speaker 1: consist from what I found out of Mexican tacos, which
- 3:09Speaker 1: is ground beef with cilantro and onion, or American tacos,
- 3:13Speaker 1: which is ground beef with cheese. Um, yeah. I hope
- 3:19Speaker 1: my boy eats before he goes.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Good morning, now.
- 3:22Speaker 1: What's going on? Good morning, now. What's going on?
- 3:24Speaker 4: Romeo, that's Alabama.
- 3:25Speaker 1: What do you expect? Well, that's my point. You don't
- 3:29Speaker 1: go to Alabama to get bad Mexican food.
- 3:33Speaker 4: It's Alabama.
- 3:35Speaker 5: Their version of Mexican food is Taco Bell.
- 3:37Speaker 4: It's like a big oil bill going over there.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I mean, ground beef tacos. That's exactly what I expect,
- 3:45Speaker 1: but nobody can be... In today's modern world... How can
- 3:49Speaker 1: it be that bad? How can you be doing something
- 3:52Speaker 1: so ridiculous by calling Mexican tacos ground beef tacos with
- 3:58Speaker 1: cilantro and onion?
- 3:59Speaker 6: Whatever.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to do pictures of that. That's going
- 4:03Speaker 4: to be interesting.
- 4:04Speaker 1: All right. Yeah, it is going to be interesting. R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I just don't get it. I mean, with all the
- 4:13Speaker 1: technology today, everybody knows what Mexican street tacos are, right?
- 4:19Speaker 1: But these fools are going to make ground beef tacos.
- 4:23Speaker 1: The Mexican version has cilantro and onion. And they're probably
- 4:28Speaker 1: going to mess up the onion. That's what I need
- 4:29Speaker 1: to see. I'm with Raider Dave. I got to see
- 4:31Speaker 1: the pictures too. Because they're probably going to use yellow
- 4:34Speaker 1: onion with their cilantro. Because it's a little sweeter. But
- 4:36Speaker 1: everybody knows the only way to make a taco with
- 4:39Speaker 1: cilantro and onion is white onion. And the American taco
- 4:44Speaker 1: is going to be just cheese. And this is the
- 4:52Speaker 1: night before their wedding. This is their, I mean, you're
- 4:55Speaker 1: in Alabama and you're having tacos? That would be like
- 5:01Speaker 1: going to, I don't know, going to the Mojave Desert
- 5:06Speaker 1: for fish. I mean, I don't know what the analogy is,
- 5:10Speaker 1: but my gosh, what is wrong with these people? I
- 5:14Speaker 1: don't even know what kind of shells they're going to have.
- 5:16Speaker 1: I hope they're not buying those hard shells that you
- 5:18Speaker 1: buy at the grocery store that are already, you know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: El Paso? Is that what it is? R-D-4-D-5-4-7-7. A taco bar.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Pre-wedding dinner. So, yeah, my buddy, one of my buddies
- 5:35Speaker 1: is going back to Bama. He's from Alabama, but he
- 5:38Speaker 1: lives out in California now. Been out here forever. But
- 5:41Speaker 1: he's going back to his cousin's wedding. And they have
- 5:46Speaker 1: a taco bar, which I thought the first, when you
- 5:48Speaker 1: hear taco bar in Bama, what do you think? You know?
- 5:54Speaker 1: And I laughed at that. And then he goes, it
- 5:57Speaker 1: gets better. He told me the next day, he goes, yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 1: they're going to have a Mexican taco bar. And I said,
- 6:02Speaker 1: what's a Mexican taco bar? Like street tacos? Okay, maybe
- 6:04Speaker 1: they know what they're doing. No cilantro and onion. On
- 6:09Speaker 1: ground beef?
- 6:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:10Speaker 7: Wow.
- 6:12Speaker 8: Wow.
- 6:13Speaker 1: So that's the Mexican taco bar. But they also have
- 6:15Speaker 1: American taco bar. For those of you that don't want
- 6:17Speaker 1: to eat Mexican, ground beef with shredded cheese. I didn't
- 6:22Speaker 1: even ask what the salsa was going to be. It
- 6:25Speaker 1: might be that paste picanha sauce, or it might be that,
- 6:28Speaker 1: what's that stuff in the jar? It might be Taco
- 6:31Speaker 1: Bell sauce. Taco Bell sauce, they sell that at the, maybe.
- 6:35Speaker 1: But yeah, you think things, bumpkins back in Bama, Alabama
- 6:41Speaker 1: know what they're doing when it comes to tacos?
- 6:43Speaker 9: No.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Why would you do that? Damn, Rome. Is the bride
- 6:50Speaker 1: and groom brother and sister or cousins?
- 6:53Speaker 3: No, they're not.
- 6:55Speaker 1: They might as well just get Taco Bell party packs
- 6:58Speaker 1: for everyone. But who puts cilantro and onion on a
- 7:06Speaker 1: ground beef taco? Now, I understand people eat ground beef tacos,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and I don't have a problem with that. But if
- 7:13Speaker 1: you're going to have a taco bar, you don't have
- 7:15Speaker 1: ground beef. You got to have some asada, maybe some chicken.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I mean, that's good. It's a good taco bar right there.
- 7:24Speaker 1: But to put cilantro and onion on a taco, on
- 7:28Speaker 1: a ground beef taco, and call it Mexican. And then
- 7:35Speaker 1: American is cheese. Oh, my gosh. But what do you expect?
- 7:39Speaker 1: I guess that's what you expect from, that's their idea
- 7:42Speaker 1: of what a taco bar is in Alabama. So my boy,
- 7:46Speaker 1: he's going back to his cousin's wedding back in Alabama, Birmingham, Alabama.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And they're having a taco bar the night before the wedding.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Everybody coming to the house, they're having a taco bar.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But they're having a Mexican taco bar when I found
- 7:58Speaker 1: out today. Mexican taco bar. They're going to have cilantro
- 8:03Speaker 1: and onion. American taco bar. The American side is going
- 8:07Speaker 1: to have cheese. And guess what? It's ground beef tacos
- 8:12Speaker 1: with the hard shells, I guess. I think it's the the, the,
- 8:16Speaker 1: the rectangle hard shells. Is that what that is? I
- 8:18Speaker 1: think if I remember correctly, like he got in school,
- 8:20Speaker 1: I think is what he said. All right. Good morning.
- 8:22Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 8:24Speaker 8: Hey, I don't even know what it was you were
- 8:26Speaker 8: talking about, but you don't have to play it. This
- 8:27Speaker 8: was just for you, but I'm dead. Literally laughed outside
- 8:30Speaker 8: in my car out loud. When you go to the Mojave.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Desert, that's what it's like. That's exactly what it's like.
- 8:44Speaker 8: Whatever the analogy was with the taco bar i'm never
- 8:46Speaker 8: mad at a taco bar and i'm with you on
- 8:48Speaker 8: who don't love street tacos but mojave desert to get
- 8:51Speaker 8: fit i'm literally dying in my car thank you so
- 8:55Speaker 8: much for the good.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Life that's hilarious yeah i mean A taco bar. They're
- 9:08Speaker 1: having a taco. Alabama. Well, boy's going back to Alabama
- 9:13Speaker 1: for a taco bar the night before his cousin's wedding.
- 9:16Speaker 1: They're having it at the house. This is how he
- 9:18Speaker 1: broke it down to me. Ground beef tacos. I don't
- 9:22Speaker 1: know what kind of shells. I'm guessing the ones that
- 9:25Speaker 1: you buy at the store, they're already hard shells. And
- 9:29Speaker 1: he told them it's going to be Mexican style. If
- 9:31Speaker 1: you want Mexican style, you get cilantro and onion. If
- 9:33Speaker 1: you want American style, you get cheese. That's why I
- 9:38Speaker 1: said that. That's like going to the Mojave Desert for
- 9:40Speaker 1: some fish. You don't go back to Alabama to get tacos.
- 9:46Speaker 1: You don't go anywhere to the Midwest. You don't go
- 9:48Speaker 1: anywhere to the South to get tacos. You don't get
- 9:53Speaker 1: no Mexican food. But yeah, well, my boy's cool. He
- 9:57Speaker 1: said he's going to eat at Waffle House. before he
- 10:00Speaker 1: go good morning what's going on.
- 10:02Speaker 5: Yo rome what up man what are you gonna have
- 10:05Speaker 5: for dessert uh deep fried uh twinkies with cinnamon and
- 10:09Speaker 5: call it churros.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Oh boy he's uh he's going back to his cousin's
- 10:15Speaker 1: wedding back in bama alabama birmingham alabama And they're having
- 10:19Speaker 1: a taco bar the night before the wedding. Everybody coming
- 10:21Speaker 1: to the house, they're having a taco bar. They're having
- 10:23Speaker 1: a Mexican taco bar, what I found out today. Mexican
- 10:27Speaker 1: taco bar. They're going to have cilantro and onion. American
- 10:32Speaker 1: taco bar, the American side is going to have cheese.
- 10:35Speaker 1: And guess what? It's ground beef tacos with the hard shells,
- 10:40Speaker 1: I guess. I think it's the The rectangle hard shells,
- 10:44Speaker 1: is that what that is, I think, if I remember correctly?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Like you got in school, I think, is what he said.
- 10:48Speaker 1: All right, good morning, y'all. What's going on?
- 10:50Speaker 2: Romeo, they're going to smother them tacos in pink picotti sauce.
- 10:58Speaker 4: That's the right.
- 10:58Speaker 8: Name, doesn't it?
- 11:01Speaker 1: Or ketchup.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Or ketchup with barbecue mixed in.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Hell, yeah.
- 11:08Speaker 9: All right, buddy.
- 11:09Speaker 1: All right, later. Good morning, Arnold. What's going on? My boy. Man.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I hope you didn't tell your cousin to listen. Man,
- 11:21Speaker 1: I tell him I've got to go over there and
- 11:23Speaker 1: show him how to actually do it, but I'm not
- 11:25Speaker 1: because it's not my job.
- 11:27Speaker 5: It's like I said, I'm eating Waffle House before we
- 11:30Speaker 5: get there.
- 11:31Speaker 4: So I'm expecting the worst and praying for the best,
- 11:35Speaker 4: I guess.
- 11:37Speaker 5: And my wife was like, really?
- 11:38Speaker 4: That's what they're doing?
- 11:39Speaker 5: I was like, yeah, babe. I was like, I don't
- 11:41Speaker 5: know what to tell you.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I said, they might try to put.
- 11:43Speaker 4: You in the kitchen. She's like, I'm not.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Going for that.
- 11:47Speaker 4: It's going to be hilarious. Nothing else I think is
- 11:50Speaker 4: going to be hilarious. It's going to be the rectangle
- 11:52Speaker 4: taco shells like we used to get when we were
- 11:54Speaker 4: in school.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Oh, it is? The pre-made ones?
- 11:58Speaker 4: The pre-made ones, yeah. With, you know, no deep fries.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It's going to be cold. It's going to.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Be soggy from the taco meat, from all the grease
- 12:05Speaker 4: and all that.
- 12:06Speaker 2: It's going to be.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Well, as long as they use that taco seasoning packet,
- 12:10Speaker 1: I guess you'd be good.
- 12:13Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I mean, my cousin that's hosting, he makes good money.
- 12:17Speaker 6: So I don't know why he's doing it.
- 12:18Speaker 4: But he said it's his wife's idea.
- 12:19Speaker 6: I was like, you might want to stop.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Stop listening to her.
- 12:22Speaker 4: This is a very bad idea.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Well, they're looking out for both the Mexican and the American.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I guess there's only going to be one Mexican there,
- 12:31Speaker 4: and that's going to be my wife.
- 12:32Speaker 1: Well, maybe they're looking out for her.
- 12:36Speaker 4: You said it right. Soul food would have been better.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Soul food would have fried chicken.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Something would have been better.
- 12:42Speaker 6: We could have did a fish fry.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Fish fry. Yeah, there you go. Fish fry, fried chicken,
- 12:46Speaker 1: maybe some ribs.
- 12:48Speaker 8: Yeah, something.
- 12:49Speaker 4: Something other than what they're suggesting. So, let's believe I
- 12:53Speaker 4: will be sending you pictures, and I'll talk about it
- 12:55Speaker 4: on Monday when I get back.
- 12:57Speaker 1: All right. Like I said, my boy's going to a
- 13:02Speaker 1: taco bar in Bama. Oh, man. What are they going
- 13:10Speaker 1: to use as a sauce? Probably ketchup. What did Roland?
- 13:15Speaker 1: Roland is my resident Cowboy delusional fan. Let's see what
- 13:19Speaker 1: he sent me this morning. I know he hit me
- 13:20Speaker 1: up early this morning about something. What up, Big R?
- 13:24Speaker 1: Do the Cowboys play tonight? Who plays tonight? Oh, the
- 13:27Speaker 1: Browns and the Steelers. So what did he say? What up,
- 13:30Speaker 1: Big R? JP Jr. Oh, Joey Porter Jr. was traded
- 13:34Speaker 1: to the Cowboys. It's just short term. Jerry's not going
- 13:39Speaker 1: to pay $ 30 million for a quarterback not named prime time.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Off to work now, Rome. Oh, okay. So, Joey Porter,
- 13:52Speaker 1: Joey's kid, Joey's boy got traded from the Steelers to
- 13:56Speaker 1: the Cowboys. I guess he wants to be paid as
- 13:59Speaker 1: a top cornerback, $ 30 million a season. Well, isn't Joey
- 14:04Speaker 1: Porter Jr. a top cornerback in the league? I thought
- 14:08Speaker 1: he was one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
- 14:10Speaker 1: When did he come out? Two years? Three years? He
- 14:11Speaker 1: should be still on his rookie deal, right? So what
- 14:14Speaker 1: is he, two years in, three years in? I thought
- 14:18Speaker 1: he was one of the best cornerbacks in the league.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Cornerbacks in the league. I didn't... So why shouldn't he
- 14:23Speaker 1: be paid like one if he is?
- 14:27Speaker 8: Well, there you go.
- 14:28Speaker 1: All right. Joey, if you guys don't know, Joey Porter's
- 14:31Speaker 1: from Bakersfield. His son went to Penn State, I think.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Does everybody went to Penn State? I think. Ended up
- 14:39Speaker 1: going to the Steelers where Joey won a Super Bowl.
- 14:42Speaker 3: And.
- 14:43Speaker 1: I guess now he's a cowboy. All right, Roland. Thanks
- 14:48Speaker 1: for keeping us up to date.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Start spreading the news.
- 14:55Speaker 5: I'm leaving today.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Well, close them out.
- 15:01Speaker 1: You know. Pretty dominantly too, right? Didn't they whoop that ass?
- 15:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 15:06Speaker 4: Whooped their ass.
- 15:07Speaker 2: But anyway, you know, Raider Dave, you know, he thinks
- 15:17Speaker 2: everything that I want to tell him, you know, that
- 15:21Speaker 2: I don't have problems in my life. I have a
- 15:23Speaker 2: problem right now, and, you know, you might have to
- 15:26Speaker 2: decide it. Because I'm going to take a cruise out
- 15:29Speaker 2: of San Francisco, but I don't know whether to take
- 15:31Speaker 2: the 7-day cruise or the 10-day cruise.
- 15:34Speaker 4: So I have problems too, Raiderette.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Where does the 10-day go?
- 15:38Speaker 2: The 10-day goes to Alaska. The seven-day goes to Alaska, too,
- 15:42Speaker 2: but it's just less pork.
- 15:44Speaker 1: That Alaska cruise got great food and good time.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I've already been on that one.
- 15:49Speaker 1: You know what, Rome?
- 15:53Speaker 2: And I get such a good rate, I think Romeo's
- 15:56Speaker 2: going to go with me.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd take that cruise. I'd take that Alaska cruise.
- 16:01Speaker 1: That Alaska cruise is beautiful.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it is.
- 16:04Speaker 1: And apparently one of the excursions you can get, you
- 16:08Speaker 1: can go and see where they train the sled dogs
- 16:10Speaker 1: from puppies to adults. Yes, you can.
- 16:13Speaker 2: And then they have the train, too, that we took
- 16:16Speaker 2: the train the last, like, two hours. Takes you all
- 16:19Speaker 2: through the mountains and everything.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Oh, I haven't seen that one.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's pretty cool. I'll send you
- 16:24Speaker 2: a video. But anyway.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I'm sorry, Doug, you got these problems. I'm sorry. It sucks.
- 16:29Speaker 2: You have the same problems. You know what I mean?
- 16:31Speaker 2: You know, like after you get off at 10 o'clock,
- 16:34Speaker 2: you say, man, what do I do? Do I go
- 16:36Speaker 2: play golf? Or do I go try to pick out
- 16:40Speaker 2: a bar that serves the best?
- 16:43Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Later, my brother.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Later, Kelly. I mean, life's tough for people, man. All right.
- 16:50Speaker 1: What are we talking about? Oh, I wanted to talk
- 16:51Speaker 1: about Joey Porter's son, Joey Porter Jr. If he was,
- 16:55Speaker 1: because he got traded to the Cowboys. Who plays? I
- 16:58Speaker 1: also wanted to see who plays. So Major League Baseball,
- 17:01Speaker 1: catch up on that. So the White Sox won, and
- 17:04Speaker 1: they're going against starting on the 3rd, which is Saturday, right?
- 17:11Speaker 1: Let's see. The Yankees and the Rays start on the
- 17:15Speaker 1: 3rd as well. Oh, they all start on the 3rd.
- 17:19Speaker 1: The Padres and the Brewers. So the Padres wrapped up
- 17:21Speaker 1: that series. The Dodgers tonight, they got one more game, right? Yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 1: tonight they got one more game. The Philly and the
- 17:29Speaker 1: Brady goes to the dot to L.A. Oh, and then
- 17:32Speaker 1: all the games start on Saturday. Right? Tomorrow's the second. Yeah,
- 17:36Speaker 1: Saturday's all the ball games. Oh, that's good. All right,
- 17:39Speaker 1: so there you go. Now you're caught up. I don't
- 17:40Speaker 1: know who plays football tonight, though. Is it the Steelers
- 17:44Speaker 1: and the Cowboys? That's pretty much... Oh, yeah, the Steelers
- 17:49Speaker 1: and the Cowboys play tonight, 5-15. Okay, on Prime Video. Okay,
- 17:52Speaker 1: there we go. We're all caught up on sports.
- 17:53Speaker 4: Yo, Rom, Raider Joe. What's up, man?
- 17:56Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 17:57Speaker 9: Oh, man, I just heard some degenerate called in yesterday
- 18:00Speaker 9: saying I was a brown noser to you. I guess
- 18:04Speaker 9: you don't know.
- 18:04Speaker 4: I've been calling for 24 years.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I know.
- 18:08Speaker 4: Defending the Raiders against you. You know, there's some times
- 18:12Speaker 4: where we actually make sense and we've.
- 18:15Speaker 9: Got to calm people down from being Dallas Cowboy fans,
- 18:18Speaker 9: you know, delusional.
- 18:20Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 18:20Speaker 6: You know, just because I called him delusional, you know. Yeah.
- 18:24Speaker 9: I'm not even going to say his name because it's
- 18:25Speaker 9: not even worth it. I don't even know the dude.
- 18:27Speaker 9: He barely started calling or what?
- 18:28Speaker 1: He's a young cat. He's a young guy. You know,
- 18:30Speaker 1: he just came up. I got phone calls lower than him.
- 18:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 18:34Speaker 1: He's new to the show.
- 18:36Speaker 4: And the funny thing, my wife said, how can you
- 18:39Speaker 4: not remember Machado, honey?
- 18:40Speaker 9: And I go, maybe that's when I had spine surgery.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 18:45Speaker 3: And she's like, oh, that's right.
- 18:48Speaker 4: I go, I was going through rehab.
- 18:49Speaker 9: I don't remember, 2017 through 19.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I don't remember that. But you know what's crazy?
- 18:55Speaker 9: Like, I was saying, I thought the Cubs were going
- 18:58Speaker 9: to play the Cubs because we were watching the Cubs game.
- 19:00Speaker 9: And the announcer said, we're going to play the Dodgers.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:04Speaker 4: That's why I was like, oh, we're playing the Cubs.
- 19:06Speaker 9: Because we've been watching, like last night, we watched the
- 19:08Speaker 9: Cubs and Padres again last night.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Gotcha, gotcha.
- 19:10Speaker 6: And then we watched the Yankee game before that.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Yankees are looking.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Good, dude.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I know. It don't matter. People make mistakes.
- 19:18Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, but anyways, I just wanted to, and I'm
- 19:22Speaker 9: glad Chili Gilly gets to go wherever he wants.
- 19:24Speaker 4: You know, and I'm not Chili Gilly, bro.
- 19:27Speaker 9: I struggle. I don't have a lot of money, and
- 19:30Speaker 9: I tell, you know, I ain't going to sit there
- 19:32Speaker 9: and blow myself up. Chili Gilly does do what he does,
- 19:35Speaker 9: and we're all proud of that.
- 19:37Speaker 1: Chili Gilly needs to keep his ass home. He travels
- 19:39Speaker 1: too much.
- 19:40Speaker 4: He sure does.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Hey, did you.
- 19:43Speaker 9: Ever get clubs or what?
- 19:45Speaker 1: I went back to my Ping I3s.
- 19:47Speaker 9: Okay. Yeah, I'm playing G.
- 19:50Speaker 7: Now.
- 19:50Speaker 9: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I went back to
- 19:52Speaker 9: my old clubs.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I was going to go try to hit balls.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Today, but I was going to talk to my buddy Dan.
- 19:57Speaker 9: And see if he can hook you up with some tricks.
- 20:00Speaker 1: I was happy with my clubs going back because I
- 20:02Speaker 1: like having a 300 again. so right i do like
- 20:05Speaker 1: hitting yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 9: Uh well i'm gonna see if uh i'm gonna see
- 20:09Speaker 9: if maybe we can get a hookup on two sets
- 20:10Speaker 9: of six sons and we can get a cheaper.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Price well let me know call me i will all
- 20:14Speaker 1: right later joe rd4254 is seven seven what did uh
- 20:19Speaker 1: roland said me roland said uh go dodgers oh it's
- 20:24Speaker 1: pittsburgh and cleveland tonight oh that's what gilly said too
- 20:27Speaker 1: uh Joey Porter Jr. was traded to the Cowboys. He's
- 20:32Speaker 1: never been the player that his dad was. Sorry to say,
- 20:36Speaker 1: he had a lot of pass interference flags. Never really
- 20:41Speaker 1: had that catch-up speed. So, Joey Porter Jr. is not
- 20:45Speaker 1: one of the top cornerbacks in the league? Somebody told
- 20:48Speaker 1: me he was. That's why I'm just curious. I don't know.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I haven't followed him too much. Hey, good morning. How's
- 20:53Speaker 1: it going on?
- 20:54Speaker 6: I swear, Chili Willie sounds like his own biggest fan.
- 20:59Speaker 1: Well, shouldn't you be your own biggest fan?
- 21:02Speaker 5: I guess, but this is what it sounds like. Hey, Romeo,
- 21:05Speaker 5: I just got a call from SpaceX. I'm going to
- 21:07Speaker 5: the moon tomorrow. Got invited by Elon Musk himself. Don't
- 21:11Speaker 5: know how long I'm going to be.
- 21:13Speaker 1: It's Elon Musk, first of all, but yeah. Okay.
- 21:16Speaker 5: You know, my only... I can't be lucky enough that
- 21:21Speaker 5: he gets eaten by an orchard or gets close to
- 21:23Speaker 5: the ledge because he's arrogant, if you ask me.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Okay. All right. Hey, you have a cheese fan. Playoffs
- 21:33Speaker 1: are here and the Dodgers going to three-peat. Go, Doyers.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Who was it told me yesterday that the bandwagoners, all
- 21:40Speaker 1: the Dodger fans are going to be on that bandwagon
- 21:42Speaker 1: right now? That bandwagon, that Dodger bandwagon is about to
- 21:46Speaker 1: fill up. Somebody told me yesterday that today was the
- 21:50Speaker 1: day it would start. Go, Mizuno. Mizuno's. I think I
- 21:57Speaker 1: have some. My first set of golf clubs were Mizuno's.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I haven't played Mizuno's in years. I think I have
- 22:03Speaker 1: some Mizuno wings at the house. Old, old golf clubs.
- 22:07Speaker 1: I think they were Mizuno wings. Something like that. Yeah,
- 22:12Speaker 1: but if anybody knows where I can get a new
- 22:13Speaker 1: set of golf clubs, I went back to my old
- 22:15Speaker 1: ones because I broke my other ones. I got problems, man.
- 22:19Speaker 1: I got problems in life. I broke two of my
- 22:24Speaker 1: Taylor Maids, but they were older clubs, about 10 years old,
- 22:27Speaker 1: broke two of those, I had to go back to
- 22:29Speaker 1: my Ping I3s, because, um, yeah, so if anybody knows
- 22:36Speaker 1: how I can get the hookup on some new, uh,
- 22:38Speaker 1: maybe some Qs, I don't think I want Ps, but
- 22:42Speaker 1: maybe some Qs, all right, I guess I'll go strict, Sean, if, uh,
- 22:47Speaker 1: if Raider Joe can get us the hookup, well, what, what,
- 22:49Speaker 1: what did Rollins, hold on, let me see what Rollins
- 22:51Speaker 1: sent me, Rollins said, big R, believe, uh, Joey Porter Jr.
- 22:55Speaker 1: has catch-up speed, anyone that runs under a 10.6 has speed,
- 22:58Speaker 1: I seen him on the track, he runs a 4.440, okay,
- 23:02Speaker 1: all right, well, there you go, like I said, I
- 23:06Speaker 1: haven't followed him very much, uh, Rome, nothing worse than L.A.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Dodger and 49er fans. Well, there's a lot of bandwagoners.
- 23:14Speaker 1: I mean, in baseball, the Dodgers and the Yankees have the, well,
- 23:18Speaker 1: the Dodgers have the biggest bandwagon fan base. The Dodgers
- 23:23Speaker 1: might actually have a bigger bandwagon fan base than the
- 23:26Speaker 1: Niners do, to be honest with you. Hey, good morning, Rome.
- 23:30Speaker 1: Can you play the Raiders song? First class. Yeah, if
- 23:34Speaker 1: I can remember where it is. Hey, you have a
- 23:36Speaker 1: cheese fan. Bring the bandwagon Dodger fans, the bus, and
- 23:40Speaker 1: I'll be the driver. Yep. Go Doyers. That's funny. All right.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Let me see what we got here. Monday night over
- 23:50Speaker 1: at just a wing. It will be there for the
- 23:52Speaker 1: Monday night football game. I'll see you there at five o'clock.
- 23:54Speaker 1: What do we have?
- 23:55Speaker 5: Okay.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So what is Gilly? Gilly said little Joey Porter had
- 24:00Speaker 1: a 4.4 speed. In the combines, that was 2023. April
- 24:06Speaker 1: doesn't have that speed anymore. That's why he gets so
- 24:10Speaker 1: many flags. Good luck, Dallas. That's why Roland never calls in.
- 24:14Speaker 1: His wife won't let him. Another thing. Oh, that's hilarious.
- 24:21Speaker 1: What big boys send me here? Hey, Rome, I've been
- 24:25Speaker 1: a bandwagon fan of the Dodgers and the Raiders my
- 24:28Speaker 1: whole life. Yeah, big boys are real fan. Hey, Big R,
- 24:32Speaker 1: big fan of the Dodger. Blue, I feel they have
- 24:35Speaker 1: been inconsistent this year. I believe it's going to be
- 24:39Speaker 1: tough for them to three-peat. Let's go Dodgers, Cowboys, and Lakers.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I mean, it'll be tough the way the Yankees look
- 24:48Speaker 1: right now. I think it's going to be tough. But, hey,
- 24:51Speaker 1: I mean, it'd be neat. It'd be nice to see
- 24:53Speaker 1: the Dodgers win. another uh 3p that's kind of cool
- 24:58Speaker 1: uh go doyers at least the dodgers actually win championships
- 25:01Speaker 1: a lot like those niners yeah but you do have
- 25:06Speaker 1: to admit that if there's going to be the biggest
- 25:09Speaker 1: bandwagon fan base in uh the country it's going to
- 25:12Speaker 1: be the dodgers the niners are second Yo, Rome, the
- 25:17Speaker 1: first class Raiders song is by far the best one
- 25:20Speaker 1: you've ever made. It's hilarious. All right. Hey, you have
- 25:24Speaker 1: a cheese fan. Can you play that Raiders song Royals?
- 25:26Speaker 1: That one's my favorite. I like the way you sing
- 25:29Speaker 1: the song, Rome. You guys got to remember, man, I
- 25:34Speaker 1: got to find all these songs. I don't know where
- 25:37Speaker 1: I keep them. Hey, Rome, get some Tacoma irons. I
- 25:42Speaker 1: play the... I play the... Ten? They're great. You know what?
- 25:47Speaker 1: I have been looking at those irons, to be honest
- 25:51Speaker 1: with you. And I thought about getting some. I thought
- 25:53Speaker 1: they would be. They look great. And everybody has positive
- 25:57Speaker 1: reviews about them. I thought about getting some. Hey, Rome,
- 26:01Speaker 1: Falcon Joe here. I'm ready for Monday. Screw them ain'ts.
- 26:07Speaker 1: The Saints? Are the Falcons good? What's the Falcons record? Oh,
- 26:11Speaker 1: that's Monday night. It's only, what, Thursday? Thursday? Yeah, today's Thursday.
- 26:15Speaker 1: We could probably deal with Monday tomorrow because what do
- 26:18Speaker 1: we got? Falcons and the Saints on Monday night. We'll
- 26:22Speaker 1: see what happens over at Just Wing at the Marketplace.
- 26:24Speaker 1: I'll see you there, 5 o'clock.
- 26:26Speaker 5: Hey, Romeo, you better get ready with that Raiders Christmas song.
- 26:29Speaker 8: You know that's your number one hit.
- 26:31Speaker 1: The Christmas song. That's an old song.
- 26:34Speaker 6: Yeah, I love that song, man.
- 26:36Speaker 1: That's an old one, man. All right.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Hey, so what do you think is going to happen
- 26:40Speaker 5: this Sunday?
- 26:42Speaker 4: You think it's going to be a good game?
- 26:44Speaker 1: I think it'll be a coin flip, honestly. I mean,
- 26:46Speaker 1: they usually play each other tough in the same division,
- 26:49Speaker 1: even when the Raiders aren't good. I mean, they play
- 26:51Speaker 1: each other tough. So I think it's going to be
- 26:54Speaker 1: a coin flip. I don't know. I think it's going
- 26:56Speaker 1: to be a good game, though. Yeah, it'll be a
- 26:58Speaker 1: good game. I think it'll be a close game. Yeah.
- 27:02Speaker 5: All right, Romeo.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Have a good one, man.
- 27:03Speaker 5: All right, brother.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Talk to you later. R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7-8. Good morning, Romeo. I'm waiting
- 27:09Speaker 1: for the price to come down, and we'll be picking
- 27:13Speaker 1: up a new set of Callaway golf clubs. You think
- 27:17Speaker 1: prices are going to go down on golf clubs? I mean,
- 27:19Speaker 1: golf clubs are expensive. That's why when I broke, I
- 27:22Speaker 1: broke two of my tailor-mades over the last few weeks,
- 27:26Speaker 1: and it was time to switch them out. But I
- 27:28Speaker 1: can't afford to go buy those new clubs, man. I'm
- 27:30Speaker 1: waiting for Joe to hook me up. I mean, Joe's
- 27:35Speaker 1: a Raider fan. A truck will hit a bump on
- 27:38Speaker 1: the east side all the time, man. Things fall off
- 27:40Speaker 1: trucks all the time on the east side, so I'm
- 27:42Speaker 1: waiting for Joe to come through. Yeah, golf clubs are expensive, man.
- 27:49Speaker 1: They're expensive, and once you buy them, they lose their
- 27:51Speaker 1: value immediately, so it's crazy. Hey, good morning, Romeo. After
- 27:57Speaker 1: the Miracle Games and plays Dodgers have had this past
- 28:02Speaker 1: two years, I wouldn't be surprised if they win it again.
- 28:05Speaker 1: I just think it would be neat to see it
- 28:08Speaker 1: as a sports fan, to see the Dodgers win three
- 28:11Speaker 1: in a row. I mean, the bandwagoners all suck, and
- 28:14Speaker 1: they're annoying as hell, but, you know, what are you
- 28:17Speaker 1: going to do? It's Bakersfield. All we have is bandwagon fans. Hey, Rome. Oh,
- 28:22Speaker 1: the Callaway price is going down. Hey, Rome. After that
- 28:25Speaker 1: controversial Callaway commercial, price is probably coming down.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Nah.
- 28:30Speaker 7: I mean, no.
- 28:30Speaker 6: Okay.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Callaway will survive that simply because that was just stupid
- 28:36Speaker 1: and it's over with, you know, even, even the good,
- 28:39Speaker 1: good golf has been, uh, I think they've kind of
- 28:42Speaker 1: come back people. Uh, I don't think, I don't think
- 28:44Speaker 1: they lost anything to be honest with you. They didn't, uh,
- 28:48Speaker 1: a little, I mean, people, the people that got upset
- 28:50Speaker 1: obviously weren't golfers because I don't think anything's happened to
- 28:54Speaker 1: anybody other than them. Just, you know, slapping good, good
- 28:59Speaker 1: on the wrist and taking their way. I mean, It
- 29:01Speaker 1: was a, I think the sponsors like Callaway and Dix
- 29:08Speaker 1: did what they did to make themselves look better. Good
- 29:14Speaker 1: Good just went back to doing what they're doing on
- 29:17Speaker 1: YouTube and it's kind of disappeared at this point, hasn't it?
- 29:21Speaker 1: Have you seen anything about it lately? So, yeah, it's just,
- 29:25Speaker 1: you know, I don't think the prices will go down.
- 29:29Speaker 1: But I'll go get me a new set of Callaways
- 29:31Speaker 1: if the prices go down because Callaways used to be
- 29:34Speaker 1: some of the best clubs. I don't know if they
- 29:36Speaker 1: are anymore. I haven't played Callaway clubs in 30 years.
- 29:41Speaker 1: But if you've seen the prices drop, let me know. R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Roland said, Big R, let Chili Willie know or Chili
- 29:49Speaker 1: Gilly know. We've been calling the radio station over 30
- 29:52Speaker 1: years and nothing changed. And I'm still the boss, first
- 29:55Speaker 1: of all.
- 29:57Speaker 3: Roland, you're right.
- 29:58Speaker 1: You've been calling the station for... since day one. But
- 30:03Speaker 1: you are not the boss in your house. Everybody knows that.
- 30:07Speaker 1: Good morning, Al. What's going on?
- 30:08Speaker 6: Man, you're lucky I'm not made of money like Chili
- 30:11Speaker 6: Willie because I just buy you some clubs.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Wait, what?
- 30:15Speaker 8: You're lucky I'm not made of money like Raider Rob
- 30:17Speaker 8: and Chili Willie because I just buy you some clubs.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I hear it.
- 30:22Speaker 4: That's like room service for Chili Willie.
- 30:24Speaker 5: It's nothing.
- 30:26Speaker 4: Tell your big.
- 30:27Speaker 5: Balling friends to get you some clubs.
- 30:29Speaker 1: I'll let him know.
- 30:31Speaker 6: That will get him extra brownie points, Tom.
- 30:33Speaker 1: All right. I'm just waiting for some clubs to fall
- 30:40Speaker 1: off the back of a truck. Things don't fall off
- 30:43Speaker 1: the back of trucks anymore like they used to. Now,
- 30:45Speaker 1: Michael Bean is here from the Marriage and Family Center, 661-327-5100.
- 30:48Speaker 1: That's how you get a hold of him. Good morning, Michael.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Good morning. How's everything going? Good.
- 30:57Speaker 6: Hey, I can't complain. Things are just going along just fine.
- 31:02Speaker 1: So we were talking about it last week before you
- 31:05Speaker 1: got out of here, and we wanted to talk about
- 31:06Speaker 1: technology and how it's affecting people's relationships. But before we
- 31:13Speaker 1: get to that, technology has just changed the dynamic of
- 31:17Speaker 1: society in such a major way that it can't help
- 31:22Speaker 1: but not change the dynamic of relationships, right? True.
- 31:27Speaker 6: Well, anything that changes us will change our relationship.
- 31:31Speaker 1: So when you look at somebody who was born before technology,
- 31:37Speaker 1: somebody who's been dealing with the dating scene in a
- 31:40Speaker 1: different way, somebody who's been dealing with relationships, and I'll
- 31:44Speaker 1: just throw it out there, my grandmother and grandfather had
- 31:48Speaker 1: never talked during the day. They talked when they got home.
- 31:52Speaker 1: They couldn't communicate 24-7 and still do their jobs anymore.
- 31:56Speaker 1: because it actually took effort. It took away from your job.
- 32:02Speaker 1: And they would probably say that their relationship is better than, say,
- 32:06Speaker 1: somebody today who could talk to somebody, could talk to
- 32:11Speaker 1: their spouse, text their spouse throughout the day. Do you think, Michael,
- 32:19Speaker 1: that the way that one is better than the other,
- 32:23Speaker 1: that was a relationship from one era is better than
- 32:27Speaker 1: a relationship from then today or just different or people
- 32:31Speaker 1: are growing up this way. So that's just all they know.
- 32:33Speaker 1: And it's going to be great and fine or, um.
- 32:39Speaker 6: Well, yeah, I mean, there are different challenges. Um, and
- 32:44Speaker 6: I think that's the important thing is it's sort of
- 32:46Speaker 6: like examine, look at, embrace the challenges that we face now, uh,
- 32:51Speaker 6: But it is interesting kind of comparing a little bit,
- 32:53Speaker 6: kind of, you know, it's not necessarily a bad thing
- 32:57Speaker 6: that we can stay connected, stay in touch better with
- 33:01Speaker 6: our partners during the day. That actually provides some problems
- 33:05Speaker 6: when we can't. But, you know, for other couples, it's like...
- 33:12Speaker 6: Maybe we need some more separation. One of the topics
- 33:15Speaker 6: that I think we're going to talk about coming up
- 33:18Speaker 6: is this idea of enmeshment and being your own person,
- 33:21Speaker 6: while the idea of being able to constantly be in
- 33:24Speaker 6: touch with that other person may make individuation more difficult
- 33:28Speaker 6: or enmeshment more easy.
- 33:31Speaker 1: I don't... This is such a complicated issue to talk about.
- 33:37Speaker 1: We've seen how technology... And when we talk about technology, everybody,
- 33:41Speaker 1: I'm talking about phones, social media, all the ways that
- 33:45Speaker 1: you can interact with hundreds of people in a moment
- 33:48Speaker 1: or whatever the case may be. We've seen it. How
- 33:54Speaker 1: do I say this? We've seen it ruin society to
- 33:58Speaker 1: some extent. We've seen it make society better to some extent.
- 34:02Speaker 1: But is it ultimately people that screw it up? Is
- 34:07Speaker 1: technology screwing people up or are people screwing technology up?
- 34:11Speaker 1: Does that make sense to me? Because you and I,
- 34:15Speaker 1: I see it both.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Ways, Michael.
- 34:21Speaker 1: I see. Having nothing to talk about when you get
- 34:25Speaker 1: home because you've said everything in short little snippets through
- 34:29Speaker 1: text throughout the day doesn't really make you a better
- 34:34Speaker 1: couple when you're face-to-face.
- 34:39Speaker 6: Well, I think some people would argue that, yeah, it does.
- 34:42Speaker 6: That when they walk through the door, they're already connected.
- 34:45Speaker 6: They don't have to spend this time kind of like reconnecting,
- 34:50Speaker 6: figuring out each other's space, getting back into it. It's
- 34:53Speaker 6: just sort of continuing a conversation. And for them, that's great.
- 34:58Speaker 6: I think it sounds like. It sounds like for.
- 35:01Speaker 7: You, no.
- 35:02Speaker 6: Let me back off a little bit. Let me have
- 35:05Speaker 6: my own space.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Those people are wrong, Michael. Well, let me ask you this. Well,
- 35:12Speaker 1: let me kind of put it this way. If you
- 35:14Speaker 1: and I texted all week about things that we're going
- 35:20Speaker 1: to talk about and then got on the radio, that
- 35:22Speaker 1: wouldn't be the same conversation. It wouldn't have the same meaning.
- 35:26Speaker 1: It wouldn't have the same spontaneity. It wouldn't have the
- 35:29Speaker 1: same depth because in my mind, I've already talked to
- 35:33Speaker 1: you about it. So why, when we're actually doing it
- 35:37Speaker 1: on the radio, why would I, you know, I might forget.
- 35:40Speaker 1: It just, I see, I don't know how to put it, Michael.
- 35:46Speaker 1: I just don't know if tech, I think technology has
- 35:48Speaker 1: taken over people and people are reverting to technology at
- 35:52Speaker 1: any age. As opposed to, and I think it's ruining
- 35:55Speaker 1: relationships in the sense that there's not the same human
- 36:02Speaker 1: connection that human beings need for survival and happiness? Or
- 36:09Speaker 1: are we just growing up in a way, Michael, that
- 36:12Speaker 1: we don't need anymore because we're changing as human beings?
- 36:15Speaker 1: Does that make sense to you?
- 36:16Speaker 6: No, it totally does.
- 36:17Speaker 2: No, we are.
- 36:20Speaker 6: The thing we lose track of is that for everything
- 36:23Speaker 6: that makes... our lives easier or something easier that's critical
- 36:28Speaker 6: to human interaction or human functioning, for everything that makes
- 36:32Speaker 6: it easier, there's a cost. And it's usually a hidden cost.
- 36:36Speaker 6: What is the cost of this quick communication that we
- 36:40Speaker 6: can just do? Well, there is a cost. There is
- 36:42Speaker 6: a cost for some individuals in, well, I need my
- 36:47Speaker 6: separate time. I need my separateness. And now enmeshment is
- 36:50Speaker 6: causing a problem in our relationship. The idea of this
- 36:54Speaker 6: online dating has become so easy. It's just so easy.
- 36:58Speaker 6: You can put your profile on there. You can swipe
- 37:02Speaker 6: and look at theirs and bing, I got a date tonight,
- 37:06Speaker 6: you know. Yet people are– multiple people I've worked with
- 37:09Speaker 6: who are dating have reported that it's just– it's really
- 37:12Speaker 6: hard to want to go deeper with one individual knowing
- 37:16Speaker 6: that you've got five other people that you could go
- 37:21Speaker 6: out with tonight rather than the same person that you
- 37:24Speaker 6: went out with last night. And so they're having a
- 37:26Speaker 6: hard time sort of– kind of making up their minds.
- 37:29Speaker 6: It's just that whole, you know, too many choices. I'm paralyzed.
- 37:34Speaker 6: It's the restaurant you go to that has too big
- 37:36Speaker 6: of a menu and you spend forever. And then even
- 37:39Speaker 6: when you do order something, you're kind of like, man,
- 37:41Speaker 6: I should have gotten the lamb chops. I don't know
- 37:43Speaker 6: what I was thinking, you know.
- 37:44Speaker 1: You know, I want to kind of go even deeper
- 37:48Speaker 1: than that, Michael, of just, well, hold on a second.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Michael Benioff from the Marriage and Family Center. I want
- 37:54Speaker 1: to talk a little bit more about this technology thing.
- 37:57Speaker 1: and how it's affecting people and relationships. And I could
- 38:01Speaker 1: be totally wrong about it, but we'll find out. Good morning, Michael.
- 38:04Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 38:05Speaker 5: Good morning, man.
- 38:06Speaker 6: It's some important questions we're asking. This whole idea of
- 38:10Speaker 6: technology bringing us closer together, or is it driving us apart?
- 38:15Speaker 6: Is it, you know, is it making it easier for
- 38:17Speaker 6: people to have relationships or easier for people to avoid
- 38:21Speaker 6: having relationships? I think that's a really messy question.
- 38:25Speaker 1: It's tough. Um, It's tough. I just don't... Well, it
- 38:30Speaker 1: depends on what your idea of bringing us together is, right?
- 38:33Speaker 1: I mean, obviously, the idea that I'm, you know, I
- 38:38Speaker 1: don't live in the same town as my brothers or
- 38:40Speaker 1: sisters or moms and dads or grandparents or whatever. Technology
- 38:44Speaker 1: is a great tool to, you know, hey, check out
- 38:48Speaker 1: the video. We can FaceTime. We can see each other.
- 38:51Speaker 1: You know, I get that, but.
- 38:53Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 1: From an intimate relationship standpoint, Michael, I think all it's
- 38:57Speaker 1: doing is driving people apart. But I also think they're
- 39:01Speaker 1: driving friendships.
- 39:02Speaker 6: Apart, too. It seems to be a bigger distraction. Well,
- 39:07Speaker 6: it was made to be a distraction, right? It's supposed
- 39:09Speaker 6: to get our attention and keep it, and that's why
- 39:12Speaker 6: the sponsors get paid, because we're staring at them, aren't they,
- 39:15Speaker 6: instead of at each other, you know, instead of figuring
- 39:18Speaker 6: out what we're going to do next.
- 39:20Speaker 1: And when you talk about closer together or further apart, Michael,
- 39:25Speaker 1: as a little kid, a baby, there is nothing, more,
- 39:30Speaker 1: and I'm just guessing because I don't remember exactly being
- 39:33Speaker 1: a baby, but being a child, there's nothing more soothing, relaxing,
- 39:37Speaker 1: make you feel safe, more comforting than your parent hugging you,
- 39:41Speaker 1: holding you, right? Isn't that a human thing? Isn't that
- 39:44Speaker 1: a human whatever? for almost everyone and so now we
- 39:50Speaker 1: get to the point where well I'm going to ask
- 39:53Speaker 1: you the question are we getting to the point where
- 39:56Speaker 1: now I get that from a thousand people I don't
- 40:00Speaker 1: know because they like something that's stupid and that's where
- 40:03Speaker 1: I get my gratification out of life that's where I
- 40:07Speaker 1: get my security that's where I get my self worth
- 40:10Speaker 1: that's where I get the things that make me feel
- 40:13Speaker 1: like I'm worth something as opposed to your spouse coming
- 40:18Speaker 1: home and you going, man, that was a sucky day.
- 40:21Speaker 1: And your spouse going, well, come here, give me, you know,
- 40:23Speaker 1: let's talk about it. Let's sit down, you know, let
- 40:26Speaker 1: me be here for you to help you through this
- 40:28Speaker 1: because of how much I care about you versus going,
- 40:31Speaker 1: what a crappy day. Let me post it online and
- 40:33Speaker 1: a thousand people agree with me. So, oh, I'm, I'm amazing.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I'm right. Everybody else is wrong. It's just, doesn't that seem,
- 40:40Speaker 1: am I wrong about that?
- 40:42Speaker 6: I don't think you're wrong. I got my initial training
- 40:47Speaker 6: in a clinic setting, and so the clients that came
- 40:51Speaker 6: in were not people with relationship problems. They were people
- 40:53Speaker 6: with life problems. They really had a hard time functioning.
- 40:56Speaker 7: Sure.
- 40:57Speaker 6: Man, I sure saw a lot of people who I
- 41:00Speaker 6: just felt like this person just needs a hug.
- 41:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:04Speaker 6: Because of professional boundaries, they couldn't give it to him.
- 41:08Speaker 7: Sure.
- 41:08Speaker 6: But, man, I did. I just felt like this person
- 41:11Speaker 6: just needs to be held for a while. you know,
- 41:14Speaker 6: told that they're going to be okay and everything's all right,
- 41:17Speaker 6: kind of padded. And we do that padding thing. And
- 41:19Speaker 6: it's interesting that Lee, that kind of almost replicates the
- 41:23Speaker 6: heartbeat of a child, you know, you hold and pat
- 41:26Speaker 6: and you kind of walk and it's the motion. And so, yeah,
- 41:29Speaker 6: you feel that just that oneness again, that you experienced
- 41:34Speaker 6: for nine months of your life becoming a human, you know?
- 41:37Speaker 1: So, but now I got to go back to my
- 41:39Speaker 1: original question. Are we getting our self worth now? From
- 41:44Speaker 1: likes and thumbs ups and emojis from people we have
- 41:47Speaker 1: no clue who they are or if they're even real
- 41:50Speaker 1: as opposed to the people who raised us or the
- 41:52Speaker 1: people who are around us every day or the people
- 41:55Speaker 1: who love us the most sitting there just one on
- 41:58Speaker 1: one going, I mean, let me make you feel better
- 42:02Speaker 1: about your life.
- 42:04Speaker 6: I don't think we are getting our sense of okayness
- 42:07Speaker 6: from that.
- 42:07Speaker 5: I really don't.
- 42:08Speaker 6: I think we're getting a little burst of adrenaline, a
- 42:12Speaker 6: little hit of dopamine that makes.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Us do it again.
- 42:16Speaker 6: But I really think that a lot of the feeling
- 42:21Speaker 6: of just– I just don't feel connected. I think– I
- 42:25Speaker 6: think a portion of the increase in suicide that's going
- 42:30Speaker 6: on is related to disconnection, that we are essentially addicted
- 42:39Speaker 6: to these devices, which pulls us away from other people. So, yeah,
- 42:45Speaker 6: I think overall these time-saving devices that make connections so
- 42:50Speaker 6: quote-unquote easy– are more distracting than is healthy. I really do.
- 42:58Speaker 1: So are we chips? Well, but that's the question then, Michael.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Is the human race changing to be controlled by these devices?
- 43:09Speaker 1: Or is biology ever going to kick back in and say, no,
- 43:13Speaker 1: I need you to hug me. I need this person
- 43:16Speaker 1: who I have dinner with every night. I need you
- 43:18Speaker 1: to sit down and have dinner with me so I
- 43:20Speaker 1: feel like when you're on your phone, that we've still
- 43:24Speaker 1: had our time together, and I am not over here
- 43:28Speaker 1: playing out different scenarios in my mind, how you're on
- 43:31Speaker 1: your phone ignoring me.
- 43:35Speaker 6: Well, genes just don't change that fast, so our society
- 43:40Speaker 6: is outpacing our change, and I think a lot of
- 43:45Speaker 6: us are not doing so well with it.
- 43:48Speaker 1: All right. All right, Michael Venus here. He's from the
- 43:50Speaker 1: Marriage and Family Center, 661-327-5100. Good morning, Michael. What's going on?
- 43:57Speaker 6: I think that's a good idea. We were just talking
- 44:02Speaker 6: about you can use AI to decide if we're the A-H.
- 44:09Speaker 1: If we're the bad ones or not, huh? I don't
- 44:16Speaker 1: think that relationships are serious... Serious enough for people's mental
- 44:22Speaker 1: health in its own bubble. And then we add all
- 44:27Speaker 1: these complications around it, which we know are negatively affecting
- 44:33Speaker 1: people's mental health. which include would negatively affect their relationships,
- 44:39Speaker 1: whether it be friendships or personal or whatever.
- 44:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:44Speaker 1: And we don't do anything about it. Are we really
- 44:47Speaker 1: just that stupid, Michael, that we don't understand that? Like
- 44:52Speaker 1: we talked about before, this whole I'm smarter than I
- 44:57Speaker 1: know I am because somebody asked me a question this
- 45:01Speaker 1: morning about.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Uh, what was it? Time, the time change, daylight savings.
- 45:07Speaker 1: And I came to work and asked another guy about it.
- 45:10Speaker 1: And the guy just goes, why didn't you just Google it? Well,
- 45:12Speaker 1: I didn't want to Google it. I wanted to talk
- 45:14Speaker 1: to you about it. I want to talk to a
- 45:17Speaker 1: real life customer service representative about it.
- 45:24Speaker 6: So are we.
- 45:25Speaker 1: Just, am I the only smart one left in the world, Michael?
- 45:29Speaker 6: Well, you know, I guess other people would look at
- 45:32Speaker 6: that same thing and they would say, man, is he
- 45:35Speaker 6: the only dumb person left in the world? So I
- 45:38Speaker 6: guess it's like you said, are we– is it– are
- 45:43Speaker 6: we just kind of like– not acknowledging a change that's
- 45:46Speaker 6: going on.
- 45:47Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 45:48Speaker 6: I think that's really interesting, though, that sometimes it feels
- 45:53Speaker 6: like the default that you should just be doing everything online.
- 45:59Speaker 6: What on earth are you doing actually going to... You know,
- 46:04Speaker 6: a place where you can interact with another human being.
- 46:07Speaker 8: What is that?
- 46:08Speaker 6: There's an internet, you know.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Well, but that's the thing, Michael. Think about it. You
- 46:13Speaker 1: go home. Now, you get off the phone with me
- 46:16Speaker 1: and you go to your wife and you go, hey,
- 46:18Speaker 1: have you heard anything about this, you know, time change thing?
- 46:22Speaker 1: And she goes, well, no, wait, what? Time change? We still,
- 46:26Speaker 1: you know, and that creates conversations with your partner and
- 46:32Speaker 1: And it could go anywhere as opposed to, well, just
- 46:34Speaker 1: Google it. We don't need to talk about that. That
- 46:36Speaker 1: just seems so naive to me. If you really want
- 46:39Speaker 1: to have a connection with the person you're supposed to
- 46:41Speaker 1: die next to.
- 46:45Speaker 6: Well, I suppose we can Google it together and thus
- 46:49Speaker 6: have a relationship that's informed by AI.
- 46:54Speaker 1: I mean, I know that sounds so stupid. People listening
- 46:56Speaker 1: are going, oh, Romeo, you're such an idiot. No, I'm
- 46:58Speaker 1: smarter than all of you because to have that conversation
- 47:01Speaker 1: leads to other conversations.
- 47:03Speaker 6: Insisting on having an actual relationship instead of just having
- 47:07Speaker 6: a virtual one. It's really a different time when that
- 47:14Speaker 6: is cutting edge thinking.
- 47:20Speaker 1: I mean, I just don't know, Michael. I think that
- 47:26Speaker 1: people don't recognize what's going on in their relationships, and
- 47:30Speaker 1: they'll blame each other when the reality might be them
- 47:33Speaker 1: because of social media. It might be them because of technology.
- 47:36Speaker 1: It might be them because of just other outside factors
- 47:39Speaker 1: that are distracting them from our relationships. Or do we
- 47:43Speaker 1: not care anymore, Michael? Are we out? Are we okay with,
- 47:47Speaker 1: I don't know, having relationships and self-gratification? From somewhere else?
- 47:52Speaker 6: Well, for a while. For a while, we're more contented
- 47:55Speaker 6: with that. For a while, we say, hey, you know,
- 47:58Speaker 6: people are confusing. Relationships are difficult. I'm just going to
- 48:02Speaker 6: stick with this AI relationship or these online friends, you know,
- 48:06Speaker 6: that I understand the rules and the boundaries better. And
- 48:10Speaker 6: I don't have to kind of deal with the painful,
- 48:12Speaker 6: you know, that sideways look you sometimes get that kind
- 48:16Speaker 6: of leaves you wondering.
- 48:18Speaker 7: Sure.
- 48:19Speaker 6: Wait a minute what's going on here relationships are difficult
- 48:23Speaker 6: and so for a while I think people do that
- 48:26Speaker 6: but then I think it catches up with us I
- 48:29Speaker 6: think it does I think people inevitably they end up
- 48:33Speaker 6: feeling disconnected feeling lonely and like wow maybe there could
- 48:36Speaker 6: be more to life than this and you know a
- 48:40Speaker 6: lot of times that's when they reach out to me well.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I got one more thing to throw at you Michael
- 48:46Speaker 1: next which is The real big question. Hold on, 100.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Good morning, Michael.
- 48:50Speaker 6: Well, good morning.
- 48:52Speaker 1: All right, so now I've got to ask you the
- 48:53Speaker 1: major question. If we're getting all our self-worth and safety
- 49:02Speaker 1: and whatever from, you know, likes and social medias and
- 49:08Speaker 1: the Internet, and that's how we're getting everything we need
- 49:11Speaker 1: to feel good about ourselves, do we just not have
- 49:15Speaker 1: sex anymore? We're not going to have sex anymore because
- 49:19Speaker 1: I don't... need human interaction anymore. I could just go online.
- 49:23Speaker 8: I mean, come on.
- 49:26Speaker 6: What era are you living in? There isn't such a
- 49:28Speaker 6: thing as in vitro fertilization that we all need.
- 49:32Speaker 1: Oh, my God. What era are you living in, for
- 49:39Speaker 1: heaven's sake?
- 49:40Speaker 6: You know, this is not, you know, the 1950s or something.
- 49:47Speaker 1: We'll just grow a baby.
- 49:50Speaker 6: Yeah, it is. Things are really different. Young people are
- 49:54Speaker 6: waiting longer to have sex now. It just doesn't seem
- 49:57Speaker 6: to be before. Churches used to kind of have socials
- 50:03Speaker 6: so that their members would get together and not be
- 50:06Speaker 6: dating outside of their religion. Now, churches are just trying
- 50:11Speaker 6: to get their young people together.
- 50:13Speaker 9: Nice, nice.
- 50:13Speaker 6: So out on a date. So they'll actually, you know,
- 50:18Speaker 6: want to have a family and get together because there
- 50:22Speaker 6: are a lot of people are just kind of deciding
- 50:25Speaker 6: hey you know just by myself is okay and then
- 50:28Speaker 6: very often they'll get into you know kind of a
- 50:31Speaker 6: later age or get into their mid-20s or upper 20s
- 50:35Speaker 6: and then they start thinking oh maybe i need to
- 50:37Speaker 6: settle now or something then they kind of get into
- 50:39Speaker 6: a relationship and start to develop their sexuality together but
- 50:43Speaker 6: it is really delayed now and people are attributing a
- 50:46Speaker 6: lot of that to You know, pornography, quite frankly.
- 50:51Speaker 1: Well, that's technology. I mean, now it's just everybody's got
- 50:55Speaker 1: it on their phone right now. I can look at
- 50:57Speaker 1: it right now on my phone as we're talking if
- 50:59Speaker 1: I wanted to. I mean, that's technology that's changing human behavior.
- 51:04Speaker 1: In a way, that's kind of significant, I would think.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I mean, I understand the reproductive part, but sometimes sex
- 51:12Speaker 1: is just fun. And if you're not living, if that's
- 51:17Speaker 1: not part of your life anymore or not part of
- 51:21Speaker 1: human life anymore, we're just doing, I mean, I'm not
- 51:24Speaker 1: telling you guys to all have sex. I'm just saying
- 51:26Speaker 1: the fact that the way that it's changing, the way
- 51:29Speaker 1: technology is changing human behavior is a little weird and
- 51:34Speaker 1: it's a little crazy. But maybe it's for the better.
- 51:39Speaker 6: Well, it's for the different. That's for certain. We do.
- 51:44Speaker 6: We're seeing it's like an experiment that you do on people.
- 51:47Speaker 6: Every time technology rolls out a new thing, you know,
- 51:52Speaker 6: likes or thumbs ups or anything that they roll out
- 51:55Speaker 6: is an experiment they are doing with live people. It's
- 52:00Speaker 6: affecting people's lives. And there's no trial. You know, there's
- 52:03Speaker 6: no this is just let's see what happens doing this thing.
- 52:07Speaker 6: And So this is an experiment that's going on, and
- 52:10Speaker 6: we don't know what the outcome is going to be.
- 52:12Speaker 6: There's going to be interesting things to come.
- 52:15Speaker 1: I do got to tell you something funny, though, Michael,
- 52:17Speaker 1: before I get you out of here. There was a
- 52:19Speaker 1: sports talk guy or radio guy, sports talk guy used
- 52:21Speaker 1: to always say sex will always win out. And after
- 52:26Speaker 1: what you've just told me. Yeah, it sounds like technology
- 52:28Speaker 1: is going to win out.
- 52:31Speaker 6: Well, it's going to leverage all of those needs that
- 52:33Speaker 6: we have. It needs to connect. It needs to feel
- 52:35Speaker 6: good about ourselves. It needs to feel like we matter.
- 52:37Speaker 6: It's going to try to use those things that are.
- 52:43Speaker 6: Already genetically in us in order to get our attention
- 52:46Speaker 6: and sell us stuff and become a more integral part
- 52:49Speaker 6: of our lives. And that's what, that's what the people
- 52:51Speaker 6: that create technology do.
- 52:53Speaker 1: I've been telling you guys about MCOR services, Hillcrest, HVAC, heating,
- 52:57Speaker 1: air conditioning. They do it all for you. And there
- 53:00Speaker 1: is nothing worse in life. than being uncomfortable in your
- 53:05Speaker 1: own home. Whether it's 150 outside and you're not cold,
- 53:10Speaker 1: whether winter comes in those few days a month when
- 53:12Speaker 1: it is cold and you're uncomfortable in your house. And
- 53:16Speaker 1: Steve from MCOR is here. He is our... What's your silly....
- 53:21Speaker 3: It is a comfort advisor. Comfort advisor. I will advise
- 53:26Speaker 3: you on how to stay comfortable.
- 53:28Speaker 1: I shouldn't call it a silly. So real quick, for
- 53:33Speaker 1: those of you that don't know about MCOR services, Hillcrest,
- 53:36Speaker 1: they've been here for. since what? 1950, 1950, 1950. They're
- 53:40Speaker 1: all union guys. They're very, they know exactly what they're doing. Um,
- 53:44Speaker 1: I will say I saw one of the cars parked
- 53:46Speaker 1: at the golf course the other day. I don't know
- 53:48Speaker 1: if he was working or in a golf tournament.
- 53:50Speaker 3: No, it was golf tournament, man. If you look on our, uh, LinkedIn,
- 53:54Speaker 3: it was you, huh? There was, I had to skip
- 53:56Speaker 3: out on that one. You know, I was, I was
- 53:58Speaker 3: down for the count last week.
- 53:59Speaker 1: So, uh, real quick though, before we get into all
- 54:03Speaker 1: the HVAC stuff, um, One of the things, they do
- 54:07Speaker 1: a lot of community stuff, obviously. So they go sponsor
- 54:11Speaker 1: teams for golf events, things like that. I know you
- 54:14Speaker 1: guys are doing something today.
- 54:15Speaker 3: We are, man. We're the courage sponsor for the VI
- 54:19Speaker 3: Pink event at AIS Cancer Center downtown. It's going to
- 54:23Speaker 3: be an outdoor event. It's free to anybody that wants
- 54:26Speaker 3: to come out and hang out. There's going to be
- 54:28Speaker 3: some vendors there. some speakers, some really great stories. You know,
- 54:32Speaker 3: early detection is so important with breast cancer, and we
- 54:35Speaker 3: couldn't be prouder to partner up with AIS. What time
- 54:39Speaker 3: is that going on? I would get there about 5.
- 54:41Speaker 3: The event starts at 5.30, runs until 8 o'clock, and
- 54:44Speaker 3: as I said, completely free.
- 54:45Speaker 6: Okay, cool.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Well, you guys go check that out. Now, Steve is
- 54:48Speaker 1: here so that we can talk a little bit about
- 54:50Speaker 1: your heating and air conditioning because, well, it costs a
- 54:54Speaker 1: lot when it breaks. It costs a lot if it's
- 54:56Speaker 1: not running efficiently. Obviously, everybody in Bakersfield knows you need
- 55:01Speaker 1: AC for summer because it's so hot here. Yes. We
- 55:04Speaker 1: forget about the heating, though, side of it. I do
- 55:08Speaker 1: want to ask you the first thing.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Okay.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Stuffiness. Sometimes when it gets cold out, you turn your
- 55:13Speaker 1: heater on, your house gets kind of stuffy. Is that
- 55:15Speaker 1: a flow issue? Why does it get like that?
- 55:20Speaker 3: We just don't have enough fresh air coming into the
- 55:23Speaker 3: house during the wintertime. A couple of things. We spend
- 55:26Speaker 3: more time indoors in the wintertime than we do, obviously,
- 55:30Speaker 3: when the weather's nice. Either we're out by the pool
- 55:33Speaker 3: if it's too hot or these great days like last
- 55:36Speaker 3: week when you can go out and golf and just
- 55:38Speaker 3: really have a great time. But when things start to
- 55:41Speaker 3: cool off a little bit, we spend more time inside.
- 55:45Speaker 3: And so it's very important that you want to recirculate
- 55:48Speaker 3: that air. That's why indoor air quality becomes so important
- 55:51Speaker 3: during those winter months. Our dander, our pet dander, dust,
- 55:56Speaker 3: everything is just kind of building up and staying stagnant
- 55:58Speaker 3: in there. There's a couple of things that you can do.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Like just turn the fan only on for a couple
- 56:03Speaker 3: of hours every day. Like I have mindset that runs
- 56:07Speaker 3: 10 minutes per hour per day. Just the fan comes on.
- 56:10Speaker 1: Just the fan.
- 56:11Speaker 3: Just recirculating that air.
- 56:13Speaker 8: Okay.
- 56:13Speaker 3: And the number one important thing. Rome, you know this.
- 56:17Speaker 3: Change those air filters. It's the most cost-effective way to
- 56:21Speaker 3: keep your air quality better and to extend the life
- 56:25Speaker 3: of your equipment.
- 56:27Speaker 1: And what do you guys do? You come in, you
- 56:28Speaker 1: clean out our ducts? I mean, how do you guys
- 56:30Speaker 1: help us?
- 56:31Speaker 3: Absolutely. So indoor air quality, there's a couple of things
- 56:33Speaker 3: we can do. First things first, you know, if your
- 56:36Speaker 3: home's 20 years old, 40 years old, even 10 years old,
- 56:39Speaker 3: we live in one of the most dustiest environments on
- 56:42Speaker 3: the planet. And that dust can accumulate in your ductwork
- 56:47Speaker 3: and blow out into your home again. What we do
- 56:50Speaker 3: is we have this machine called a Roto Brush, and
- 56:53Speaker 3: it's basically this high-powered, super-efficient HEPA-filtered vacuum cleaner with a
- 56:59Speaker 3: rotating brush on top of it. Different sizes for your
- 57:02Speaker 3: different-sized ducts. Man, it really cleans them out and makes
- 57:04Speaker 3: them brand new. So you can kind of start fresh.
- 57:07Speaker 3: And then also, if you're interested in indoor air quality,
- 57:09Speaker 3: I don't want you to get those really, really thick
- 57:13Speaker 3: filters that restrict airflow into your system. We want to
- 57:16Speaker 3: keep you at about a MERV 10, MERV 11, 10.
- 57:19Speaker 3: Maybe a MERV 13 if your system can handle it.
- 57:22Speaker 3: But let's talk about some indoor air quality where we
- 57:25Speaker 3: can make your unit the largest air purification system you own.
- 57:30Speaker 1: I do want to talk about that. If you guys
- 57:32Speaker 1: want to get more information to find out, give them
- 57:35Speaker 1: a call, 661-335-1500 or mcorehillcrest.com. I don't... I wonder, Steve,
- 57:43Speaker 1: if we overlook this stuff.
- 57:45Speaker 8: I mean.
- 57:46Speaker 1: My dad always told me two things. Don't ever go
- 57:48Speaker 1: cheap on tires or mattresses because they use them every
- 57:51Speaker 1: single day. Right. We use the air in our house
- 57:55Speaker 1: every single day, whether it be heating or AC or,
- 57:58Speaker 1: like you said, the fan. I mean, who's ever told
- 58:01Speaker 1: you to turn your fan on just to circulate the
- 58:04Speaker 1: air in your house?
- 58:05Speaker 3: Just to get it moving around. Nobody really has told you.
- 58:07Speaker 3: That's why I'm here, Rome.
- 58:08Speaker 2: That's why I'm here.
- 58:10Speaker 3: We're expanding the knowledge.
- 58:12Speaker 1: Well, we got to figure it out. Hold on a second.
- 58:15Speaker 1: He is from MCOR Services Hillcrest. He is our comfort
- 58:19Speaker 1: control something. Comfort advisor. Comfort advisor.
- 58:22Speaker 3: Comfort advisor.
- 58:25Speaker 1: I got to get that one down.
- 58:26Speaker 3: I really do.
- 58:27Speaker 1: That's a great title. And what he does is he
- 58:32Speaker 1: comes into your home and he tells you where you can,
- 58:36Speaker 1: where things can be more efficient. how things can be
- 58:39Speaker 1: better as far as your comfort goes, heating, air conditioning.
- 58:43Speaker 1: And I'm still going to stand behind this is, this
- 58:47Speaker 1: is very important for your life. I mean, just the
- 58:50Speaker 1: dust in the air, the particles, the, it's just so important,
- 58:55Speaker 1: our homes. And it's probably what the only thing, the
- 58:58Speaker 1: only time we ever think about it is when it
- 59:01Speaker 1: turns to 105 in Bakersfield. And when it goes out, Yeah,
- 59:05Speaker 1: for sure. The only time we think about it.
- 59:07Speaker 3: That is it. So when we talk about things that
- 59:09Speaker 3: we rely on daily, right, our cars.
- 59:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:12Speaker 3: We check the tires. We check the air filter. We
- 59:15Speaker 3: get the oil changed. We get them washed. We do
- 59:18Speaker 3: all of those things. Our refrigerator, we use every day, man.
- 59:21Speaker 3: If our refrigerator goes out, it's a panic, right? You're
- 59:23Speaker 3: borrowing ice chests from all your friends until one of
- 59:27Speaker 3: the big box stores can bring you a new refrigerator.
- 59:29Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 59:30Speaker 3: We don't think about maintenancing our air conditioner, making sure
- 59:35Speaker 3: it's ready for the wintertime, making sure it's ready for
- 59:37Speaker 3: the summertime. Those things are important. Your air conditioning and
- 59:40Speaker 3: heating system is the largest appliance in your home, and
- 59:43Speaker 3: it's the most expensive.
- 59:44Speaker 1: The most expensive.
- 59:44Speaker 3: Why wouldn't you take care of that at least twice
- 59:48Speaker 3: a year?
- 59:48Speaker 1: Okay, so let me ask you this question. Now, they
- 59:51Speaker 1: say if you... These cars today, as long as you
- 59:54Speaker 1: get the regular oil changes on, they'll last you 200,000, 300,000 miles.
- 59:58Speaker 1: If you take care of your HVAC unit in the
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: way that we talk about or you talk about, filters, cleanings,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: things like that, how long should it last you?
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: A well-maintained HVAC system is going to last you 15 years.
- 1:00:13Speaker 7: Okay?
- 1:00:13Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: So the warranty on those things from the manufacturer are
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: 10 years. And that's really, you know, it's kind of,
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: you know, obsolescence is manufactured into that unit. You know
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: it's going to be 10 years. You need to start
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: thinking about it.
- 1:00:28Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: If you can get 15 years, 20 years out of
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: a unit, oh, my gosh.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: That's good.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: That's like a 100-year-old. man, you know, it's lived a great,
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: great life. But a well-maintained system should last you 15 years.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Okay. So we have these blowers outside. Most houses nowadays
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: have these blowers outside and they take just a beating
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: every day in this Bakersfield heat, the dust flying around
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: the rain. I mean, they're not covered. They're just taking
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: a beating in the weather. What do we do with
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: those to maintain those that they don't... Those should be
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: looked at, right?
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: A couple of times a year? So on a split system,
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: I know that's what you're talking about. The box outside
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: your home on the side of your house. There's two
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: different types of systems. There's a rooftop unit or a
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: package unit. We used to call them dual packs. That's
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: because the heating and air conditioning is all in one box.
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: Those are what's up on your roof, right? And then
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: you have the split system, which is very common... In
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: homes now, right? You have that condenser on the outside.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: That's the outdoor unit. That's part of your air conditioner.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: And then up in your attic or in your garage,
- 1:01:33Speaker 3: you have the other part of the air conditioner, which
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: is your coil. And then you have your furnace, which
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: contains the fan. All three of those components. Oh, the
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: fan is in your house. The blower fan is inside
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: of the furnace.
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: So your air conditioner and your heater both use the
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: same fan to move air through the ductwork.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: What happens if you just turn the fan on with
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: no hot, heat, or cold?
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: It's just circulating the air.
- 1:01:54Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: So like this morning, right, if there's a little stuff
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: in your house, open a couple of windows and just
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: click the fan only on it. It'll suck air from
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: the outside, which the ambient temperature outside is a little cooler.
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: Sure.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: It's going to bring some fresh air into your home.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: If you can do that on days like today, it's
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: really going to help you out once it gets 99
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: today on October 1st, Rome. 99 today on October 1st.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: Hey, they didn't teach me that in shop class in
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: high school to open a window and turn the fan
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: on in my AC to clean out my house.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: It'll just kind of just circulate that air. Moving air
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: is what we do in the air conditioning industry. We're
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: just moving air. Moving air from here to there.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: So what people don't understand is when you do that
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: in your house, it's not like just... putting a fan up.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: It's not like just putting a fan, a standing fan
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: in your house and rolling it around. This is circulating
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: your whole house.
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Correct.
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: Every room has a duct, either an intake or an outtake. Right.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: So it circulates everything. It does.
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: People don't realize that.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: So it's almost like you hear about these whole house fans, right?
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: And basically you have a whole house fan in your
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: home with your air conditioner. Now, If you have a return,
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: which is what you called an uptake, that's where you
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: put your filters and everything like that, that's sucking in
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: the air that's currently in that room or in that space.
- 1:03:16Speaker 3: The supply is going to feed either conditioned air or
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: just we're circulating air. Like I said, open a couple
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: of windows at about 645 in the morning, turn on
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: that fan, and you can really freshen up the air
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: in your home.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: All right, hold on, Steve. We've got to talk about
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: getting ready for the winter if it ever comes, okay?
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: It's not at 4.1. MCOR Services Hillcrest HVAC, heating, air conditioning.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: I don't know what else they do, but we'll find
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: out from Steve because he is our comfort advisor. Advisor.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: You're going to get it.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: I'm going to get it. Comfort Advisor.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: You're going to get it.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: It's the best title of anybody I've ever met. Okay, Steve,
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: so for those of you that don't know, they do
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: heating and air conditioning, which is one of the things
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: that we're trying to get you guys to understand. about
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: it so that you can obviously save money. You can
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: be healthier. It can be more efficient. You'll be more comfortable.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: All of these things that you should want when you're
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: sitting in your house every single day. We do have
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: a winter in Bakersfield.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: How do we get prepared for that with our heating AC?
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: Well, now's the time. Now's the time. Yeah, I know
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: it's going to be 99 degrees. I mean, I knew
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: when the fair rolls into town, we're going to have
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: either a rainy day or a windy day, and then
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: it's going to be 100 degrees one day, right? And
- 1:04:36Speaker 3: now we're kind of experiencing, I mean, it's been 96 tonight,
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: and then today 99, possibly 100 tomorrow and over the weekend. So,
- 1:04:43Speaker 3: I mean, our winter usually hits right about Halloween. That's
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: when we really start thinking about turning on the heater.
- 1:04:52Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: But now is the time to schedule that heater maintenance. So,
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: first of all, so you can pick the time and
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: the date that you want. There's plenty of availability, and
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: you don't have to worry about clicking that thing on.
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: In December, when you've got aunts and uncles and brothers
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: and sisters over for celebrating the holidays, you click it
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: on and nothing happens.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to ask you about that. Yeah.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: So now's the time to get it. We've got to
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: get it checked out. And really, when we're talking about
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: our heaters, what we do on the service, yeah, we're
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: going to clean out the compartment. We're going to check
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: the electronics. But it's really a safety issue. When you
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: have a gas-fired furnace, those things are like four jet
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: engines that are shooting flame into a heat exchanger. We
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: want to make sure that those things are burning properly,
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: that your heat exchanger isn't damaged, rusted, cracked, or anything
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: like that. That's when we can run into some carbon
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: monoxide issues. So we want to check that out and
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: make sure everything's good. When you turn on your heater
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: for the first time or when you have it serviced
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: and you have that smell of burning dust, that's perfectly normal.
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: So what has happened over the last six, eight months
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: is dust has settled onto that heat exchanger. You click
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: that heater on for the first time, and you have
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: that terrible smell. Now, that should last about 15, 20 minutes,
- 1:06:04Speaker 3: maybe even a day. But if the smell or a
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: smell continues, that's when you need to call or text
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: MCOR Services Hillcrest to come and get it checked out.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: Now, here's how you get a hold of them. 661-335-1500
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: or mcorhillcrest.com. Obviously, you guys come in and do everything.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: When it comes to this maintenance, I want to talk
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: about maintenance real quick. Whether it be heating, whether it
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: be air conditioning, a lot of us wait till the
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: last minute. which anybody knows the last minute or problems occur,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: is more expensive. It is. So, and we've obviously, you
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: guys have been running a special, kind of a late
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: summer special, 95 bucks to come in and look at it.
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: How much is the heating? What are we looking at
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: just in a range just to make sure everything's okay?
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: With preventive stuff.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: Preventative maintenance, $ 125. That's our regular price.
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: That's not expensive at all.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: When you're on the schedule for twice a year, it's $ 125.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: If you just want to do a single service, it's
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: a little bit more expensive, but we don't make you
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: sign a contract. We don't make you commit for the
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: next three years. But the basic... Service, preventative maintenance for
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: your heater or air conditioner, $ 125. It's $ 250 a year.
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: If you extrapolate that over the 12 months, I mean,
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: you're paying pennies for every day, right? That's what I'm
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: trying to get across to people. It's less than an
- 1:07:29Speaker 3: oil change on your car nowadays. Right? It's less than
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: an oil change on your car. And, hey, we're going
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: to bring you a filter also.
- 1:07:36Speaker 6: How often? How often?
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Do you get them serviced? Twice a year. To get
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: ready for the winter that's coming, regardless of how long
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: our winter is. We know it's going to get cold
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: and we're going to turn on our heater. Every six months, roughly, roughly.
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: Right about the middle of football season is where I
- 1:07:55Speaker 3: tell people, hey, let's get your heater tuned up and
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: ready to go. And then right about springtime, maybe a
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: little before spring break, that's when we need to get
- 1:08:05Speaker 3: the AC serviced and making sure that thing's rocking.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: All right, MCOR, Services Hillcrest, 661-335-1500, mcorhillcrest.com. You guys, check
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: them out. Steve, hold on a second. I've got a
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: couple more questions before I get you out of here. Cool.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: Steve is here from MCOR, Services Hillcrest. He's a comfort advisor,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: and he is the guy that will come out to
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: your home and help you make sure you are living
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: the most comfortably possible you can with heating and air
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: and being able to breathe and all the things that
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: you have in your house. Good morning, Steve.
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: Good morning.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: A couple of things real quick.
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: One is.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: The maintenance part of it. Yes. If we glossed over
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: it and you didn't hear, $ 125 twice a year.
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: Yep.
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: You're on the books for them. They're already scheduled. They
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: come out. Payment on delivery. Yep. $ 250 to maintain your
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: system a year.
- 1:08:58Speaker 8: A year.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: A year.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: Before the cold, before the heat. And that really does
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: help you save on... When we do these maintenances, we're
- 1:09:07Speaker 3: checking all the systems, right? And there's some tattletales that
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: when we're checking the electronics, when we're doing the voltage
- 1:09:15Speaker 3: and all of that, the amps on all these pieces
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: of equipment, that can tell us, hey... This thing is nearing,
- 1:09:20Speaker 3: you know, it could break down. Just like, think about this,
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: where you can say, okay, maybe I need to budget
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: for a new blower fan motor or a new condensing
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: fan motor. And, you know, we're checking all of those things.
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: So it helps you kind of anticipate a problem before
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: it happens.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: One other thing we just talked about is... I'm going
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: to buy a new home. I'm going to buy my
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: new home, whether it's older, whether it's not. Now you
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: do have home inspectors that come out. I don't know
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: how in depth a home inspector goes through the biggest
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: appliance in your house, which will cost you the most
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: if it goes out three months after you move in.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: So we can come out and do a diagnosis on
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: the system, $ 99. It usually takes about an hour, and
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: we'll go through the entire system and make sure everything
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: is functioning properly. We can give you the age of
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: that system to let you know, hey, this is, I mean,
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: if it's eight years old, it's still in its life cycle.
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: If it's 26 years old, something you may want to
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: budget for in.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: The near future. How many times has somebody bought a
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: home and something went wrong with the AC?
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: It happened to me. bought a house four years ago
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: it's an older home built in 1931 but i mean
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: my ac was about five and a half six years
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: old compressor went out on it yeah but you know
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: i uh and i i work for an hvac company
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: and uh just something you know these are mechanical pieces
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: so that things happen.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: But you can have people come out and look at
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: it for 100 bucks and just check it out for
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: you make sure you're secure little peace of mind um
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: let's talk about buying a new one yeah you have
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: uh if i if How do you explain it?
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: Now's the best time. If you're looking to replace your unit,
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: I mean, if your unit is 15 years old or older,
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: if you've been spending money on repairs for the last
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: few years, you know, a thousand bucks here, 750 bucks there,
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: we're starting to, you know, get to the point where.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Maybe replacing this unit might be more cost-effective. First of all,
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: if it's more than 10 years old, it's already out
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: of warranty on the parts of that system. You get
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: a new unit, and now everything is under warranty for
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: the parts. You're still on the hook for the labor
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: to change everything out, but there's also a labor warranty
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: available when you buy a new system as well. A
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: little insurance policy to get you through the next decade.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: And, you know, you and I talked about, you know,
- 1:11:43Speaker 3: with these split systems, we've got this furnace that doesn't
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: really work as hard as some furnaces across the country.
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: Maybe this thing isn't ready to be replaced, but I
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: want to replace the AC side of my system. We
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: can do that. We can do that. Now, there's some
- 1:11:59Speaker 3: pros and cons to that, right? If we get a
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: whole new system, all three pieces, your heating and your
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: air conditioning, are all under warranty. And so if I
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: look at a furnace and it's hitting near that 20-year mark,
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: I'm going to say we're going to have to change
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: the whole system. If we're 10, 12 years and you've
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: had just trouble with the A.C., that's a pretty easy
- 1:12:23Speaker 3: swap out. Now, there are some things that we have
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: to do now because of the new refrigeration that was
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: introduced earlier this year. And we have to do a
- 1:12:32Speaker 3: couple of things to make sure safety wise, everything works great.
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: But that's also an option, just replacing the coil and
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: condenser instead of just and not replacing the furnace.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: And that's one of the things when you look at,
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: I mean, a lot of us just don't have $ 20, 000
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: to replace our AC. And we want, you know, and
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: a lot of us are cheap.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Current company included.
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: When you go, when you look at it, something you go, well, my,
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: my furnace doesn't have the same amount of miles on
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: it as my, as my unit. And, but you guys
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: will actually come in and go, Hey, you're right. It doesn't,
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: but this may go out in a couple. It may
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: be more cost effective for you to, Hey, Replace them
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: both because this is going to break down. Parts aren't
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: under warranty. It's just not the same.
- 1:13:18Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: I mean, things can happen with these mechanical issues. And
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: here's the thing with M-Core Services Hillcrest, Rome. We're not
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: going to come and try to sell you just to
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: sell you. We're going to give you honest recommendations and
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: provide you with all the options. Really, Comfort Advisor is
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: question answerer. I just want to make sure that this
- 1:13:36Speaker 3: is a huge purchase.
- 1:13:37Speaker 9: Now, if you're.
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: Going to spend $ 20, 000 on an air conditioning unit, come
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: and see me because I think we can help you out. Nice!
- 1:13:45Speaker 3: We can probably make that investment a little more manageable.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: Well, okay, so let me ask you this. Let's say
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: I am one of those guys that just wants to
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: replace one or the other. Is it really that less
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: expensive to do that versus to just do all three pieces?
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: It really depends on the system. But yeah, you're going
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: to save a few thousand dollars. But when that furnace
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: does go out, now you're losing that because now are
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: two separate.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Jobs, right?
- 1:14:13Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:14:14Speaker 6: So.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you just got to weigh it out, especially if
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: you're July 17th and it's 110 degrees outside and you
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: have X amount of dollars and you just want to
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: get your air conditioner up and running again.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: I think that's a viable option.
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: Gotcha.
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: But like right now, there's no better time to replace
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: your unit, especially if it struggled through summer, you're seeing
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: some higher energy bills, and you spent some money on
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: repairs over the last couple of years.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: It's going to be more cost effective, and now is
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: that time.
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: All right, so let me ask you one thing before
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: you get out of here. A couple of different things. One,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: if I want you just to come out and look
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: at my unit and tell me how much life it's
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: got in it to the best of your ability, you
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: can do that.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: Diagnosis, yes. $ 99. $ 99. Just to kind of just let
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: you know what's going on. As long as the unit's running.
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Okay. Um, and somebody asked me about duck cleaning. Yeah.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: What is that?
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: What's the cost of duck cleaning? It all depends on
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: how many ducks you have.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: So it usually ranges between $ 1, 500 and $ 2, 500. Now it's
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: not just a duck cleaning. We're going to clean your
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: unit as well.
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: Because that coil where the air blows through it, we
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: want to make sure that that's free of dust and
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: debris as well. We also tape all your supply registers
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: to make sure there's no leakage there. And it's really
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: a full, comprehensive duct cleaning of your home.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: Now, one last thing, Steve. You can give them a
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: call at 661-335-1500. Or text.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: Or text. Or text them.
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: That's what everybody does now, text. Yeah, right. Or go
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: to mcorehillcrest.com. Is it okay to talk about pricing? Sure.
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: Okay.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: I just want to make sure.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Just don't hold me to it.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: He's a comfort advisor and a salesman. Anyway, guys, it
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: sounds like just to maintain, just to look out, just
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: to get it checked out. I mean, if someone came
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: in and told you today, For $ 100, okay, in about
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: four years, I'm guessing this unit might not... You've got
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: four years to save and plan for that. Those are
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: the things that people don't realize.
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: Yeah. Service and diagnostics, man, that's really... Very important. And really,
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: when we do a service, we're able to make recommendations
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: at that time. So servicing it, especially in the wintertime
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: when we kind of forget about it, is so important.
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: So.
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Fall's the best time for maintenance. Don't wait for that
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: first cold night to turn on your heater. Replace those
- 1:16:38Speaker 3: dirty air filters. In the wintertime, indoor air quality matters, man.
- 1:16:43Speaker 3: And you can save some money when winter arrives by
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: having a well-serviced unit.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: All right, Steve from M-Core Services Hillcrest. Thanks for stopping by.
- 1:16:50Speaker 7: Good morning, Hop.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: Hey, what's up?
- 1:16:54Speaker 6: Hey, what's up?
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: You caught it with 29. Congratulations.
- 1:16:58Speaker 5: Oh, my God, yeah.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: What's your name, man?
- 1:17:02Speaker 7: Eric.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: All right, Eric, I'm going to get you tickets to
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: the fair, okay?
- 1:17:06Speaker 6: Thank you, bro.
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: I've been wanting to take my kids.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: All right, brother, well, you're good to go. Oh, I
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: got to tell you what happened last night. Oh, my
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: boy caught a case. He's not even from Bakersfield, and
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: he caught a Bakersfield case. This girl he has been dating,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: they've been together about three or four years, maybe four years,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I think. Well, she ended up cheating on him with somebody.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: And guess what happened? They broke up. And she got pregnant.
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Guess who she's trying to say the father is. And
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: guess who the father really is. Good morning, y'all. What's
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: going on?
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: Hey, what's up, Rome?
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: What up? What up, Lou?
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: Hey, so give me all the cheese, man. I'm from Wasco.
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: We love cheese, man. What's going on with your homeboy?
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: Yeah, my boy got one. Got him one.
- 1:18:00Speaker 7: Um.
- 1:18:05Speaker 1: Well, a friend of mine, good friend of mine, and
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: he had been dating this woman, living together for four,
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: I think it's been about four years, maybe a little
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: over four years. And he ended up, she ended up
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: cheating on him. And She got pregnant. So this has
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: all been over the last year. I just found out yesterday.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: But over the last year or so... Okay, so you
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: got to remember. She cheated about a year and a
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: half ago. Maybe about 18 months ago. Maybe two years ago.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: Maybe about a year and a half. And so he
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: broke up with her. She got pregnant. And it was
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: the dude she was cheating with.
- 1:18:46Speaker 5: Damn, Well no It ended.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Up being My boys She ended up The guy ended
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: up dumping her And claimed the baby wasn't his So
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: she had to do a paternity test And so He
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: found out A year and a half ago That she
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: got pregnant and now she's coming after him saying he's
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: the father, and technically he is the father.
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: Well, congratulations.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Well, I guess it's kind of a, I don't know.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: He has mixed feelings about it because it is his baby,
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: but she told him it was Sancho's baby, and when
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Sancho dumped her, he, you know, I guess they didn't
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: put a name on the birth certificate, so.
- 1:19:41Speaker 5: Oh, I get you, I get you.
- 1:19:44Speaker 6: So now.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Oh, man. And the state they live in has different,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: you know, does it a little bit differently, apparently. So, yeah,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: she said, so they both had to take paternity tests
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: to find out whose the kid was, and it ended
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: up being my boy, so now.
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: Wow, hey, man, still congratulations to your boy. It's just
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: the way he found out.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: Come on, man, what would you do if you just
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: found out someone knocked on your door? Hey, by the way,
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: I'm your son. I'm your daughter.
- 1:20:09Speaker 8: I'm here.
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: I don't know what I would do. Hey, all I know, Rome,
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: is that would have never happened if you were a nice,
- 1:20:20Speaker 5: friendly Wasco woman. It would have been much better. His
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: first mistake was going to Bakersfield.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: So what you're saying is, oh, no, he's not from Bakersfield.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: He doesn't even live in Bakersfield. He lives in another state.
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: But what you're saying, Lou, is there ain't no hoes
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: in Wasco?
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: Well, I don't know.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: We got to find out.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: You have a Facebook page about homes in Wasco.
- 1:20:48Speaker 5: Wasco cheese mozos.
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: Not Wasco homes.
- 1:20:55Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: All right, Lou. Later, man.
- 1:20:58Speaker 8: Get out of here.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: All right, Darryl. All right, 8-4-2-5-4.
- 1:21:01Speaker 9: 7-7.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: Like I said, man, that's your typical Bakersfield musical right there. Somebody,
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: you get that paternity test and the baby is yours, right?
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: How many of you guys got one? How many times
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: has that ever happened to you where somebody shows up
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: and says, oh, by the way, this is your child?
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: So have you ever found out you had a kid
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: that you didn't know about? Now with this 23andMe or
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: whatever it's called, 33, what is it called where you
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: can do the find out your history test? or whatever
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: it's called. You guys will tell me what it's called.
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: You find out. People find out their father might not
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: really be their father. Or you might have a kid
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: somewhere you don't even know about because, well, you don't
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: know until they show up. I have a friend who
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: won't even do it. He's been traveling around the world
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: so much that he won't even do that ancestry thing
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: because he's afraid that a kid might pop up. RD425477, yo, Rome.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: Let me tell you what happened to me. I was
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: dating this girl in Bakersfield for a while and she
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: got pregnant. There were six guys, including me that had
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: to take a pregnancy test to find out who the
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: father was. That's how many dudes she was sleeping with.
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: Luckily it wasn't me who was the father. Luckily I
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: knew a girl once, um, when I, this was a
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: long time ago before I moved to Bakersfield, she was dating,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: I worked at a restaurant, she was dating two of
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: the waiters at the restaurant. I don't remember if they
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: knew about each other, but she was dating two different guys,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: got pregnant, and she chose the one, she just told
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: the one that was, she thought would be the best
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: father and the best guy to take care of her
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: and the kid. She just chose him and said he
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: was the father. So it could have been the other guys,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: but Nobody knows. And he accepted, he was excited about it.
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: So he didn't, I'm sure they have a happy life now, but,
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: or do, I'm sure they're fine. But yeah, they, she
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: just picked him, picked the guy she thought was going
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: to be the best suited for her and the child.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: But man, it happens. You know, how many, how many
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: of you out there think, I've had people come up
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: to me and tell me in Bakersfield that so-and-so's their baby,
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: their daughter, their this, their son, and that the father
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: doesn't even know There's guys out there raising somebody else's
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: kids they don't even know. So, yeah, it's more common
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: than you think, you know. It comes. You know, Jerry
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Springer made a living.
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: Out of it.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Made a living out of you're not the father. You're
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: the father. Who was it? Sally just somebody. You know
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: those shows? Maury, Maury Povich. Maybe that's, I don't know,
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: one of those shows, right? Made a living out of
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: figuring out who the baby daddy was. I've seen it
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: happen in Bakersfield. One of my boys is going through
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: it right now, found out he had a daughter after
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: being cheated on. She didn't tell him. She said it
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: was the other guys, and now he left her, and
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: so now they had to take a paternity test, found
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: out it was his. So what do you do? RD-424-7-7, yo, Rome.
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: This happened to me about 25 years ago. I was
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: dating this girl, and I worked in the oil field,
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: so I made real good money, Rome. And she got pregnant.
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: I was okay with it, but she said she didn't
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: want to have the baby. Now, I respected her wishes,
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: and I gave her the money. And 12 months later, Rome,
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: I got hit with child support. She had lied to
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: me about not having the baby, took the money from me,
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: and then I got hit with child support. 12 months later.
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: So it was just all bad Rome. But I will
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: tell you this. I love my daughter now. She's grown
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: up to be a great person. And we have a
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: great relationship. It was just kind of dirty what her
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: mom did. Wow. Jeez.
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: That is kind of dirty. Especially if you were in
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: from the get-go. And you understood, but man, that's dirty. R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: But the problem is, you know, there is an issue,
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: a very common issue of women lying to you or
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: to the baby daddy or, you know, some women out
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: there are just, they're just shysty, man. And they won't
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: tell you the truth until they figure out what's best
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: for them. I don't even know what's best for the child, right?
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Is it better to not tell the real baby daddy
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: who he is or that he has a child if
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: somebody else is willing to take on the responsibility, even
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: thinking that it's their kid? I mean, I don't know. R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7. Yo,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: Romeo Springer Show. Yeah, was it Jerry Springer? Come on now,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: what's going on?
- 1:26:21Speaker 4: Good morning, Romeo.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: Hey, what's up?
- 1:26:24Speaker 8: Man, they used to do that stuff a lot more,
- 1:26:28Speaker 8: I guess I'd say, in the 70s, 80s and stuff. Well,
- 1:26:31Speaker 8: I guess maybe even 90s, but.
- 1:26:34Speaker 5: Because.
- 1:26:35Speaker 8: You got these 40s, 30s, late 30s, early 40-year-old dudes
- 1:26:40Speaker 8: running around here, and they got one last name, but
- 1:26:43Speaker 8: their dad is somebody else's last name, and then you
- 1:26:46Speaker 8: come into the picture, like, trying to analyze or trying
- 1:26:49Speaker 8: to figure out, like, why are you in this last name, but...
- 1:26:53Speaker 8: You said your dad's last name was this and then
- 1:26:55Speaker 8: come to find out, oh, well, your mama was extra loose.
- 1:27:00Speaker 8: And she was messing with multiple dudes. And it must
- 1:27:05Speaker 8: have been a collection of anybody because you claim that
- 1:27:08Speaker 8: you got pregnant by a smoker and he wasn't going
- 1:27:12Speaker 8: to be a very good dude, a very good dad.
- 1:27:15Speaker 4: So you chose the other dude, but.
- 1:27:19Speaker 8: Obviously, he knew that that baby wasn't his because he's
- 1:27:22Speaker 8: never dealt with the kid. So now the child is grown,
- 1:27:28Speaker 8: like I said, it's a male, and he's been had kids,
- 1:27:32Speaker 8: and he's like all.
- 1:27:35Speaker 6: I don't know, just weird.
- 1:27:36Speaker 8: He still has daddy issues and stuff like that, but...
- 1:27:42Speaker 8: It just messed up a whole situation. If you're going
- 1:27:46Speaker 8: to say that the kid is somebody else, keep on
- 1:27:50Speaker 8: with that lie.
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: Take it to your grave.
- 1:27:52Speaker 8: What you want to sit up there and tell somebody
- 1:27:53Speaker 8: and mess them up for because of the stupid stuff
- 1:27:56Speaker 8: that you did?
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: Can I tell you a story? And this happened years ago.
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: I can't really give out too much information, but... I
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: know a guy who his dad, on his deathbed, told
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: him that it wasn't his son. And you should find
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: your real father since I'm passing away before it gets
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: too late.
- 1:28:18Speaker 8: Oh, that was a cold one.
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: That's a cold one.
- 1:28:20Speaker 8: He should have kept that one to himself, too.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. If you're going to do it, yeah,
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: I agree with you on that. That could mess somebody up.
- 1:28:30Speaker 8: Well, I'll take it further, too.
- 1:28:32Speaker 4: You better check.
- 1:28:33Speaker 8: If your mama said that you got a whole bunch
- 1:28:35Speaker 8: of fake uncles, oh, that's your Uncle Jimmy. That's your
- 1:28:38Speaker 8: Uncle Bob. That's your Uncle Jimmy.
- 1:28:40Speaker 7: Dan.
- 1:28:41Speaker 8: No, those are all dudes your slutty mama used to
- 1:28:45Speaker 8: mess with.
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cold. You cold. Yeah.
- 1:28:49Speaker 8: I'm on top today.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: There you are. All right, that's your comment.
- 1:28:54Speaker 6: Bye.
- 1:28:54Speaker 9: Bye.
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: Damn, sound like she know the game, huh? R-D-4-2-5-4, 7-7. That's, yeah, man.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: It happens a lot, man. I'm sure it happens a lot.
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Rome?
- 1:29:11Speaker 9: Hey, Ruben.
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: Man, Rome, I got a buddy that he got cheated on, too, bro.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: And the girl left him, and she always called him
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: and told him he was a lowlife. He only worked minimum.
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: Hours, you know.
- 1:29:22Speaker 4: But, Rome, he snapped out of it, ended up doing
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: really good.
- 1:29:25Speaker 2: Well, when she had the kid, she told me it
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: wasn't his.
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: That it was the new guy's. But as soon as
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: she found out he was doing good, oh, Rome, she
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: wanted that fraternity test done and everything so she could
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: hit him for that child support.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Was it his kid?
- 1:29:39Speaker 4: It was his kid. Man, I was like, dude, like,
- 1:29:44Speaker 4: I felt bad. I feel bad still to this day, Rome.
- 1:29:46Speaker 4: The kid's probably about six, seven years old.
- 1:29:49Speaker 8: You know what I mean?
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: Probably about eight.
- 1:29:50Speaker 4: But I'm just like, dude, I feel bad because she's
- 1:29:52Speaker 4: still with homeboys, a new guy. You know what I mean?
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: And living off his child support. And, you know, he
- 1:29:57Speaker 4: makes good money now. And I think he said he
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: was paying like $ 1, 300 a month.
- 1:30:02Speaker 2: Wrong.
- 1:30:03Speaker 4: Those fools don't even work. They're living in an apartment
- 1:30:05Speaker 4: in Oildale.
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: Like, you know what I mean?
- 1:30:07Speaker 4: Like a trailer apartment thing. You know what I mean?
- 1:30:10Speaker 4: And she went from living, you know what I mean, decent.
- 1:30:12Speaker 4: She thought she was living really good. And now she's
- 1:30:15Speaker 4: in the gutter.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: But they're living off child support. Okay.
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: Living off child support. You know what I mean? And
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: child support in that first of the month.
- 1:30:23Speaker 9: All right.
- 1:30:24Speaker 6: Yeah, I'll sit back with your buddy too, Rome.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: All right. Talk to you later. I don't know. You
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: got to kind of have mixed feelings, right? If a
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: woman lies to you about, you know, not having, that
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: it's not your kid, that's different, right? You might be
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: excited about having a child. I just, I don't know. R-A-4-2-5-4-7-7-8, Rome.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: And that happened to me with that ancestry stuff. My
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: wife wanted to do it. So we did it some
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: years back and, uh, apparently I was in the system.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: Now I found out that I had a son back
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: when I was in the military, I was stationed, uh,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: back in the Carolinas. And it turns out the girl
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: I was dating, uh, got pregnant. I was, uh, I went, Oh,
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: I got stationed somewhere else. And she didn't, uh, she
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: didn't tell me about the kid. Oh, she didn't. Oh,
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: I see. She said she didn't have a way to come.
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: I was trying to figure out how, cause the story,
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: hold on.
- 1:31:31Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: So she didn't tell me about the child.
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: Rome.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: I am not a deadbeat. I have a great family now.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: He ended up finding me on that anxious ancestry site.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: Hit me up. He has a family of his own. Um,
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: I got to tell you, Rome, I was kind of
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: disappointed that she never told me. His mother never told
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: me that I had a child. I would have taken
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: care of him. I'm a good man. Now, Rome, we
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: have a great relationship. My current wife is okay with
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: what happened. She didn't get upset about it when we
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: found out. Now we have two more beautiful grandchildren, Rome.
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: It worked out great for us. It's just sad that
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: some of these women do that to men like me. Well, okay.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: All right.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: Trying to find out who the daddy is, right? Man.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: Some of these women, man, when it comes to being
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: taken care of, they pick the right guy, whether it's
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: his kid or not. Good morning, Rob. What's going on?
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: Good morning, Romeo.
- 1:32:40Speaker 9: Oh, my bad.
- 1:32:41Speaker 8: Good morning, Romeo.
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: Oh, my gosh. What's going on with you?
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:32:46Speaker 8: I got a story for you.
- 1:32:47Speaker 3: Okay, what happened?
- 1:32:48Speaker 8: I got a relative that essentially got with a girl.
- 1:32:53Speaker 8: The girl supposedly got pregnant. So he married her. He's
- 1:32:57Speaker 8: a good dude. And come to find after she had
- 1:33:01Speaker 8: the baby, baby might have been a year old or so.
- 1:33:06Speaker 8: The relationship started to break down. They kind of like
- 1:33:08Speaker 8: separated ways, started messing with other people. So the dad's
- 1:33:13Speaker 8: new girlfriend had a suspicion that that baby wasn't his.
- 1:33:18Speaker 8: So she secretly DNA tested the baby and found out
- 1:33:23Speaker 8: that it wasn't even her boyfriend's baby, right? So told him,
- 1:33:29Speaker 8: but mind you, When she tells the dad, the dad immediately, like,
- 1:33:34Speaker 8: bangs on the baby mama, like, why would you do that?
- 1:33:37Speaker 8: You must knew, and all this other stuff. So, they
- 1:33:41Speaker 8: file for divorce. He has to pay child support for
- 1:33:45Speaker 8: this kid, being that he signed the birth certificate and stuff.
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:33:49Speaker 8: And she was trying to get him for spousal support. Now, it... Now,
- 1:33:53Speaker 8: here's the clincher. Some years go by, they both mess
- 1:33:56Speaker 8: with other people. She winds up having two other kids,
- 1:34:00Speaker 8: I believe, by somebody else's husband. And then, now this
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: is the clincher. Then, all of a sudden.
- 1:34:09Speaker 7: We start seeing the one that said that had a
- 1:34:15Speaker 7: baby by somebody else and the relative, they start hanging
- 1:34:18Speaker 7: out together.
- 1:34:18Speaker 8: He wound up proposing to the broad again. And had
- 1:34:24Speaker 8: a big old wedding. And we was wondering, what is
- 1:34:29Speaker 8: wrong with you? So did he find his forever love
- 1:34:33Speaker 8: or did he find... Somebody to forever screw him.
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:34:37Speaker 8: You let me know.
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: That's wild. That sounds like an after, Bakersfield after school
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: special right there.
- 1:34:44Speaker 6: Man.
- 1:34:45Speaker 2: Man.
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: That's great.
- 1:34:46Speaker 8: You just don't know. We sit here looking at it
- 1:34:49Speaker 8: transpired like.
- 1:34:50Speaker 6: You've got to be kidding me.
- 1:34:52Speaker 2: You've got to be kidding.
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: But some of these chicks out there, man, are just,
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: when it comes to being pregnant and who the daddy is, man,
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: they are, it's like survival of the fittest. I mean,
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: they got to do, they will survive, man.
- 1:35:07Speaker 8: I get that, but you do that type of stuff
- 1:35:10Speaker 8: like when you sit there messing with an NFL player
- 1:35:13Speaker 8: or something that you're trying to hold on to because
- 1:35:15Speaker 8: he's got some looming. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:35:17Speaker 6: He could possibly change your life.
- 1:35:18Speaker 8: Take care of that baby. These dudes, man, they still
- 1:35:22Speaker 8: live with their mama or they got a pizza job
- 1:35:25Speaker 8: and got 15 other kids. What are they going to
- 1:35:27Speaker 8: do for you?
- 1:35:28Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: Hey, I'm going to tell you like this. A friend
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: of mine, she told me the other day, she said,
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: Ho's going to survive. Ho's going to eat no matter what.
- 1:35:38Speaker 8: Man, you ain't lying. A girl can eat.
- 1:35:42Speaker 5: She's a big.
- 1:35:42Speaker 8: Girl, baby. She's eating.
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: Romeo in the morning.
- 1:35:46Speaker 8: Every morning.
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: On Hot 94.1.
