- 0:01We have long-established instincts that harken back to
- 0:04the Animal Kingdom in what we may call the fight or flight
- 0:08response. This instinct is deeply embedded
- 0:12and lies at the root of one of the biggest obstacles to
- 0:15achieving calm and peace in the being every impulse we receive
- 0:20from outside triggers a reaction.
- 0:23And if it appears at all, threatening it triggers, this
- 0:27virtually automatic process. There are other reactive
- 0:31triggers such as the built-in neuro chemical transmitters,
- 0:36that are evoked when something is pleasurable or unpleasurable.
- 0:41The experience of these neurochemicals can lead to a
- 0:44cycle of Desire, attempting to recreate the feeling in the
- 0:49being, then we add learned responses that we gain from
- 0:54parents, siblings friends, the societal framework around us.
- 0:59Such that certain types of impulses provoke a response such
- 1:04as patriotism, racism. Misogyny religious bigotry, Etc.
- 1:11Many of these are deeply embedded in the psychology so
- 1:16that they take place virtually without conscious awareness of
- 1:19the being when the secret takes up spiritual practices.
- 1:24One of the first things that needs to be accomplished is
- 1:27developing, at least And initial platform of calm, and peace, and
- 1:33from, their systematically rooting out.
- 1:36The reactive nature of the desire soul and the ego
- 1:40personality. This process is not simple.
- 1:44When one realizes that just suppressing the outer reaction
- 1:48does not solve the problem. A much deeper psychological
- 1:52purification and tuning process, winds up being required.
- 1:58It is something that occurs over time with constant effort,
- 2:02instead of being upset about the lapses as they occur.
- 2:06The Seeker should recognize the time and effort required and
- 2:10exercise patience starting with the first basic establishment of
- 2:15equanimity wherever possible and then reviewing disturbances as
- 2:20they arise to understand causes and potential Solutions.
