- 0:19Speaker 1: It is time to leave your warriors outside and laugh
- 0:24Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Dan, O'Malley, along with
- 0:28Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Thursday, July thirty first,
- 0:35Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. And you know it wouldn't be a
- 0:40Speaker 1: Thursday in America without some new battle in the ongoing
- 0:43Speaker 1: culture war. American Eagles new ad campaign starring Sydney Sweeney
- 0:50Speaker 1: has the woke mob claiming racism and Nazi propaganda.
- 0:56Speaker 2: It's done from parents to offspring, often determining trade. It's
- 1:00Speaker 2: like her color, personality and even eye color. My jeans are.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Blue, Sidney's Sweeney hasburg Keynes.
- 1:11Speaker 4: You guys are complaining about that Sydney Sweeney jeans, and
- 1:14Speaker 4: so I went and saw it.
- 1:16Speaker 5: That's Nazi propaganda.
- 1:19Speaker 6: Wow, I will be the friend that's two woke because
- 1:22Speaker 6: those Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ads are weird, like fascist, weird,
- 1:28Speaker 6: like Nazi propaganda weird. This is Nazi.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Pure Nazi, all right, gentlemen, is American Eagles new ad
- 1:39Speaker 1: campaign starring Sydney Sweeney Nazi propaganda. Raj, We'll start with you, yes, Trey, no,
- 1:49Speaker 1: all right, now, let's get it on.
- 1:54Speaker 5: I like how you're Bruce Buffer in this moment.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, Okay, briefly tell me why you think this
- 2:03Speaker 1: is notazo propaganda.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Just play the commercial again and think of it that
- 2:08Speaker 4: way in a second, because she they changed the commercial
- 2:11Speaker 4: because it was just good jeans, good jeans, good jeans,
- 2:14Speaker 4: over and over again.
- 2:16Speaker 5: So they've changed this commercial.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Well, this is the one that's out there, and they've
- 2:20Speaker 1: actually pulled this.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Ad from parents to offspring, often determining traits like her color, personality,
- 2:29Speaker 2: and even eye color.
- 2:31Speaker 5: A blonde hair, blue eyed girl.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Blue city Sweeney Hasbury Keynes, M.
- 2:37Speaker 1: There you go, yep, yep. Had the ad campaign been
- 2:42Speaker 1: jeans for white girls, would that have been okay?
- 2:47Speaker 5: I don't know what that means.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Well, that's basically I mean, if you're saying that it's
- 2:52Speaker 1: not too propaganda stuff, then that's sort of an implied
- 2:54Speaker 1: message being sent by American eagle. It's saying, look, these
- 2:58Speaker 1: genes are for white women. The other side of it
- 3:02Speaker 1: is like you're saying, is that, well, this is clearly
- 3:05Speaker 1: saying that blonde hair, blue eyed, white skin is the
- 3:09Speaker 1: good genes is okay, So here's no hang on, Trey,
- 3:14Speaker 1: let me say this and I'm gonna come to you.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I don't think this is not too propaganda. I also
- 3:20Speaker 1: don't think that this is a good ad. I'm more
- 3:23Speaker 1: offended at the basic bitch marketing denim jeans, human gens,
- 3:29Speaker 1: blue eyes, blue denim. I have an amazing idea. Let's
- 3:33Speaker 1: charge millions of dollars as an ad agency to American
- 3:36Speaker 1: Eagle and this will anyway. The flip side is on
- 3:42Speaker 1: the the woke part of it. The this is not
- 3:45Speaker 1: too propaganda thing is just because this ad says Sidney
- 3:51Speaker 1: Sweeney has good genes, doesn't mean you, as a person
- 3:54Speaker 1: of color, don't. Okay, They're just saying Sidney Sweeney has
- 4:00Speaker 1: good genes, and people are are are putting things in
- 4:04Speaker 1: there which are their own biases.
- 4:06Speaker 4: But that's how propaganda works, right, That's how it works.
- 4:11Speaker 4: It's it's telling it's a select market that you have
- 4:15Speaker 4: good genes.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It is, but that's more of an implied thing. When
- 4:20Speaker 1: you within, you then have to add in your part
- 4:23Speaker 1: that says because you don't. The Nazi propaganda part is
- 4:27Speaker 1: the Nazis saying arians are the best and we're going
- 4:30Speaker 1: to prove it, and then we're going to murder anybody.
- 4:32Speaker 4: Else, and that's what they said, and I agree with
- 4:34Speaker 4: that Arians are the best because I'm Rian.
- 4:38Speaker 5: I don't know if you know Iran Well.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Hitler's version was a little different than the history the name, Yeah, Trey,
- 4:45Speaker 1: is this Nazi propaganda? No? Why?
- 4:49Speaker 7: First of all, by any objective definition, she has good genes, like,
- 4:56Speaker 7: she's pretty talented. That's what you would say if that
- 4:59Speaker 7: had backs.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Everything you just said is very subjective.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Sure, not really.
- 5:05Speaker 7: I mean, I think most people would agree she's attractive.
- 5:08Speaker 7: It's a pretty girl.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Okay, most people think, you know, she has some talent.
- 5:15Speaker 7: So let me so let me ask you a question.
- 5:17Speaker 7: If let's say, if that had been Zoe Kravitz, okay, then.
- 5:23Speaker 5: But it wasn't.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Okay, that's but that's so so you know, this actually
- 5:27Speaker 3: comes down to it.
- 5:28Speaker 4: I think it was Mahatma Gandhi, it would be, I mean,
- 5:30Speaker 4: but it wasn't. Did they did this for a reason.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Because she's she's the it girl right now?
- 5:38Speaker 5: Yeah, blonde hair, blue eyed, white girl saying good jeens.
- 5:41Speaker 7: I mean, why why don't we talk about I mean,
- 5:43Speaker 7: this is more, you know, about pretty privilege than it
- 5:46Speaker 7: is about you know, Nazi propaganda.
- 5:50Speaker 4: It starts off with her talking about her family giving
- 5:53Speaker 4: her the good genes.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Okay, and if you look at her, she has good gens.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Like, this is a surface level ad that people are
- 6:03Speaker 1: as signing things beneath the surface that I don't think
- 6:07Speaker 1: they intended. I don't think that this is some overarching
- 6:10Speaker 1: Nazi propaganda add that whoever the people were behind it
- 6:14Speaker 1: thought yeah, this is this is.
- 6:15Speaker 3: What we're gonna do.
- 6:16Speaker 1: We're gonna spread this message. No, it's a surface level ad.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Like I said, it's basic bitch marketing, and they didn't
- 6:22Speaker 1: expect that it was going to get this extreme backlash
- 6:25Speaker 1: from people taking more out of it than what they
- 6:29Speaker 1: put in.
- 6:30Speaker 7: It's it's a joke from a forty year old movie
- 6:33Speaker 7: called The Big Chill where they want Kevin Klein's character
- 6:37Speaker 7: to father a child and they go, you've got good
- 6:39Speaker 7: jeans and he looks down at his blue jeans. It's
- 6:42Speaker 7: it's a it's a joke.
- 6:44Speaker 4: So you're telling me that fifteen sixteen year old girls
- 6:47Speaker 4: right now will know that movie or or people that
- 6:52Speaker 4: because I didn't know the joke.
- 6:55Speaker 5: Okay, So so you there's there's people in an advert.
- 7:00Speaker 7: So let me So basically, what you're saying, is because
- 7:02Speaker 7: she's white, we can't say she has good genes.
- 7:05Speaker 5: No, you can say however you want to, don't put
- 7:08Speaker 5: it in an ad.
- 7:10Speaker 7: Okay, So you can't mar so marketing. You can't use
- 7:14Speaker 7: white people in marketing.
- 7:16Speaker 1: So here's the problem, Trey. You're taking it to an extreme,
- 7:19Speaker 1: and I understand where you're coming from. Hang On, hang on,
- 7:22Speaker 1: hang on. That's how you take something out of it,
- 7:26Speaker 1: with the reaction from the crazy leftists saying this is
- 7:29Speaker 1: not too propaganda, when in reality, if you exclude people
- 7:34Speaker 1: from certain things, then you're kind of inviting this type
- 7:38Speaker 1: of backlash. Had they done the same ad campaign and
- 7:41Speaker 1: did it with three to four representative people from various ethnicities,
- 7:47Speaker 1: there would be absolutely zero issue. Instead, they focused on
- 7:51Speaker 1: the white part of it. And now they're they're playing, uh,
- 7:54Speaker 1: oh my god, we're shocked and.
- 7:56Speaker 5: I'm gonna stop Trey right there.
- 7:57Speaker 4: I'd be offended if they did that as well, because
- 8:01Speaker 4: now it sounds like you're playing to a demographic. It
- 8:03Speaker 4: sounds like you're playing to a race. No, but just
- 8:08Speaker 4: don't do Lots of companies do that. Yeah, I mean,
- 8:11Speaker 4: and I don't like that, but don't do me.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Fubu is pretty direct.
- 8:16Speaker 5: Who's still okay? I don't know. We went back to
- 8:18Speaker 5: nineteen ninety nine. No, but don't do this.
- 8:24Speaker 4: Where you're talking about my Listen to the ad again
- 8:29Speaker 4: and what she says and then she has good genes.
- 8:32Speaker 5: That's just terrible. We're just in bad taste. So I'm
- 8:35Speaker 5: glad they pulled it because the well, they.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Haven't pulled the entire campaign. They they just pulled this
- 8:39Speaker 1: particular ad that I played for you. It's difficult for
- 8:42Speaker 1: you to find it online in its entirety. I pulled
- 8:46Speaker 1: it out of a news piece from page six. So
- 8:50Speaker 1: why is it bad for her to say it's good
- 8:52Speaker 1: genes or she has good jeens.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Because she's talking about being a white kid growing up
- 9:00Speaker 4: and now she has good genes.
- 9:02Speaker 5: She never said.
- 9:03Speaker 3: Why when does she say she was okay when it
- 9:05Speaker 3: wouldn't color get into it?
- 9:07Speaker 4: Uh, the minute you see her that that's that's a
- 9:11Speaker 4: bias on your end. Okay, I can agree with that,
- 9:16Speaker 4: but yeah, it's still a fact, Like I.
- 9:18Speaker 7: Said, objectively, if you if if you look at it,
- 9:21Speaker 7: she's pretty, and you know you say, right, she's the
- 9:24Speaker 7: it girl right now. She she's generally even people think
- 9:27Speaker 7: she's fairly talented. If you take if you take color
- 9:31Speaker 7: out of it and objectively look at it, you would
- 9:33Speaker 7: say she has good genes. I mean, I don't know
- 9:35Speaker 7: her family medical history, but unless there's some you know,
- 9:38Speaker 7: weird disease lurking there, you know.
- 9:41Speaker 1: So you're saying that the whole eugenic single wouldn't be
- 9:44Speaker 1: so bad if we all stemmed from Sydney sweety.
- 9:48Speaker 5: We need to get her bath water, or.
- 9:52Speaker 1: It's not just to bathe in.
- 10:00Speaker 8: You're listening to the tea house visit is online at
- 10:03Speaker 8: Treehouse on air dot com.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Eight three to three cookdift W. That's the phone number
- 10:13Speaker 1: you will want to call Daniel Cook and get your
- 10:16Speaker 1: free roof inspection from cookdift W Roofing and Restoration. I'm
- 10:21Speaker 1: going to go out on a limb here, Daniel and
- 10:23Speaker 1: assume you've never stood outside during a hailstorm. Dan, I'd
- 10:29Speaker 1: be lying if I said no, All right, this commercial
- 10:34Speaker 1: took a turn. You're weird. Most sensible people don't go
- 10:38Speaker 1: outside during a hailstorm because it's dangerous. Your roof doesn't
- 10:44Speaker 1: get that option. It's out there all the time, taking
- 10:48Speaker 1: the beating. That's why it's so important to make sure
- 10:52Speaker 1: an expert takes a look at it to see what
- 10:55Speaker 1: kind of damage might have been done. Right, absolutely, I
- 10:59Speaker 1: mean shocked.
- 11:00Speaker 9: I mean, now, we get a lot of small hell
- 11:01Speaker 9: storms through here, and the one I actually there's a couple. Now,
- 11:05Speaker 9: there's a couple of hell storms I go out into
- 11:07Speaker 9: and and and they hurt in a couple of but
- 11:09Speaker 9: I have a hard hat in my truck, and so
- 11:11Speaker 9: usually I've worn a hard hat and we've gone out
- 11:14Speaker 9: to it and and it's kind of fun to see
- 11:17Speaker 9: the big wind and blow you around and the hell hitting.
- 11:19Speaker 9: I mean, it hurts, it pelts you. It just depends
- 11:22Speaker 9: on the wind velocity. But yeah, so yeah, you definitely
- 11:25Speaker 9: want us to.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Come out and check.
- 11:27Speaker 9: Not all hell damages your home. That's that's something a
- 11:29Speaker 9: lot of people have a you know, a wrong misconception on.
- 11:33Speaker 9: Just because you have a hell event at your house
- 11:35Speaker 9: doesn't mean you.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Have damage, you know.
- 11:37Speaker 9: And sometimes people think they had a small hell and
- 11:38Speaker 9: actually the hell came down to eighty mile hour winds,
- 11:41Speaker 9: but it's still hurt the property.
- 11:43Speaker 3: So there's a combination of.
- 11:44Speaker 9: Different things, different factors. Just call us out, don't don't
- 11:47Speaker 9: don't try to figure it out yourself. We come out again.
- 11:50Speaker 9: We're going to show you what's wrong. If there's something wrong.
- 11:53Speaker 9: I don't recommend playing in Hell for everybody.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Only they experienced folks like us.

- 12:43Speaker 1: on that Sydney Sweeney American Eagle jeans ad bone, and
- 12:48Speaker 1: we'll get to more of it later, but right now
- 12:53Speaker 1: I know that Trey has a bit of a bone
- 12:55Speaker 1: to pick with me individually, because raj were out last
- 13:00Speaker 1: week and on Monday's show, we went through birthdays like
- 13:04Speaker 1: we do pretty much every day here inside the Treehouse,
- 13:07Speaker 1: and I mentioned that it was Elizabeth Berkeley's birthday. Elizabeth
- 13:10Speaker 1: Berkeley from Saved by the Bell and her most notorious
- 13:15Speaker 1: film role in Showgirls. Trey took the social media a
- 13:20Speaker 1: couple of days ago and lambasted me because his TV
- 13:25Speaker 1: suggested to him he should watch show Girls. How is
- 13:28Speaker 1: this my fault, Trey, because.
- 13:31Speaker 7: The disease you carry of bad film watching has just
- 13:38Speaker 7: spread to all of us.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I am not a virus tray. That is your algorithm
- 13:45Speaker 1: showing you what it thinks.
- 13:47Speaker 3: You want to see.
- 13:48Speaker 5: I would go more bacterial.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Than Yeah, that's actually not bad. If you just wash
- 13:55Speaker 1: your hands bore that, I can't get at you.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't know if a shot is going to
- 13:58Speaker 3: take care of this.
- 14:03Speaker 1: I thought it was hysterical. It's a great little video
- 14:05Speaker 1: that you posted, and it's on your account at tree
- 14:09Speaker 1: Trinholm one. It's also on the Treehouse account at Treehouse
- 14:12Speaker 1: on Air where you blame me for your television suggesting
- 14:19Speaker 1: that you watch show Girls. Show Girls is not a
- 14:23Speaker 1: good movie. I never said it was a good movie.
- 14:25Speaker 1: All I said was, and I can pull the tape
- 14:28Speaker 1: if you want. Is that it's Elizabeth Berkley's birthday. She
- 14:31Speaker 1: is best known, probably as caffeine riddled Jesse on Saved
- 14:36Speaker 1: by the Bell, but She's also really well known for
- 14:39Speaker 1: one of the worst movies of all time, Showgirls, and
- 14:41Speaker 1: your TV thinks you want to see it, And now
- 14:44Speaker 1: that's my fault, and I'm I I'm offended. Where's my
- 14:47Speaker 1: woke mob.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Good jeans, your wolk mob is watching? Jim Cotta me.
- 14:58Speaker 1: There actually was a pretty scared mob in that movie.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Just FYI, So that's possibly too soon.
- 15:05Speaker 3: I did not remember that Showgirls was in C seventeen.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it was a hard movie.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:13Speaker 1: The uh, the reason I saw Showgirls is because I
- 15:16Speaker 1: knew it was in C seventeen and it had Jesse
- 15:18Speaker 1: from Saved by the Bell in a grown up role.
- 15:21Speaker 1: And I couldn't wait to see it because at the
- 15:23Speaker 1: time it came out, what was it ninety two or something?
- 15:26Speaker 1: I think I was twelve. I mean that's a sweet
- 15:28Speaker 1: spot in my adolescents. You're damn right, I want to
- 15:30Speaker 1: see Showgirls.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Oh that movie.
- 15:33Speaker 7: So every pretty much every ticket sold was our age
- 15:38Speaker 7: range that wanted to see Jesse Nicket and.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Boy did we Yeah, you talk about worth the price
- 15:44Speaker 1: of admission? Who can you imagine what the ticket sales
- 15:48Speaker 1: would you imagine what the box office for Showgirls would
- 15:50Speaker 1: have been if they had Tiffany Amberthiesen in the lead
- 15:53Speaker 1: role instead of Elizabeth Berkley, Holy god, that would have
- 15:57Speaker 1: been great. Oh who I'm talking about good genes.
- 16:03Speaker 5: I'll see you guys later.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Like even Lark Vorhees would have been like, yeah, I gad,
- 16:08Speaker 1: that's fair.
- 16:12Speaker 4: But nobody's television's ever ever suggested to watch Showgirls like
- 16:17Speaker 4: Trays did.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Yeah, he says its fault it is, and I was wrong.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Show Girls came out in nineteen ninety five, even more
- 16:24Speaker 1: of a reason for me to see it. You talk
- 16:25Speaker 1: about being in the sweet spot of adolescents.
- 16:27Speaker 7: Who you didn't even have to be adolessent. I mean,
- 16:31Speaker 7: like I said, if your gen X you wanted to
- 16:35Speaker 7: see Jesse Nickeett, like that.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Was just right, and that that Tray is not my fault.
- 16:40Speaker 1: It is not my fault that that movie got made.
- 16:43Speaker 1: It is not my fault that I saw that movie.
- 16:45Speaker 1: I never suggested that you see it. I just simply
- 16:48Speaker 1: stated a fact about Elizabeth Berkley in the middle of
- 16:52Speaker 1: mentioning it was her birthday.
- 16:54Speaker 7: I think it's your love of bad movies why you
- 16:56Speaker 7: gravitated to that birthday.
- 16:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you can't have just said Saved by the Bell.
- 17:03Speaker 1: No, I couldn't. You can't. You cannot talk about Elizabeth
- 17:06Speaker 1: Berkley and only mentioned Saved by the Bell. You have
- 17:09Speaker 1: to mention show Girls in the same sentence. If you don't,
- 17:13Speaker 1: you're an irresponsible journalist.
- 17:15Speaker 3: And I'm sure she would appreciate it if you would
- 17:16Speaker 3: just bring up Saved by the Bell.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Well, we all don't get to pick and choose the
- 17:22Speaker 1: stories that are written about us.
- 17:23Speaker 5: It's just a.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:29Speaker 4: So when I saw when I saw the post, I
- 17:33Speaker 4: agreed with with Trey. I'm like, this had to be
- 17:36Speaker 4: either you were in his house and something was said, or.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I'm not breaking into his house talking into his remote
- 17:44Speaker 1: and saying that.
- 17:45Speaker 3: To show me show girls.
- 17:48Speaker 5: Oh I think you are. I wouldn't doubt that for
- 17:52Speaker 5: a minute.
- 17:54Speaker 3: After that happened, I actually shut down my computer just
- 17:56Speaker 3: to make sure.
- 17:58Speaker 4: I threw it out and burned it, ped on it,
- 18:01Speaker 4: earned it some more, change the passwords, changed, the gate
- 18:06Speaker 4: code apartment.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I did recognize it in the video. Trade doesn't mention
- 18:10Speaker 1: in the video that he and I are friends of
- 18:13Speaker 1: over twenty years, so he just mentions me as a fine,
- 18:15Speaker 1: fine gentleman. He does, Yeah, you casually distanced yourself from me.
- 18:23Speaker 5: Like the rest of the cast of Saved by the
- 18:25Speaker 5: Bell did to her.
- 18:27Speaker 1: It is pretty sad when they ostracized her, But all
- 18:30Speaker 1: you know, open arms for Screech and his struggles. But
- 18:38Speaker 1: did you watch it?
- 18:40Speaker 2: No?
- 18:41Speaker 1: Did you watch it when it came out in nineteen
- 18:43Speaker 1: ninety five or on VHS slash DVD roughly a year
- 18:47Speaker 1: six months two, a year later.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I can't remember if.
- 18:52Speaker 7: I don't think I saw it in the theater, but
- 18:54Speaker 7: I absolutely when it came out on VHS. I believe
- 18:58Speaker 7: that would at that time. Yes, yeah, I mean I
- 19:02Speaker 7: definitely didn't want Jesse huh.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Oh, No, he's saying he watched it.
- 19:05Speaker 5: Oh you did.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 7: I don't think I went to the theaters because I
- 19:09Speaker 7: think I remember getting slammed as just a horrible movie.
- 19:15Speaker 7: So I think I was like, I'll rent it.
- 19:18Speaker 1: And I think that was a smart move because if
- 19:20Speaker 1: you go to a theater. Had you gone to a
- 19:22Speaker 1: theater to see show Girls in nineteen ninety five, you
- 19:25Speaker 1: would have run the risk of being next to a
- 19:27Speaker 1: pee wee.
- 19:29Speaker 3: Or people, or just being pee wee.

- 20:22Speaker 1: I'm Daniel Maley along with Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma
- 20:25Speaker 1: on Thursday, July thirty first, twenty twenty five. Just a
- 20:29Speaker 1: couple of days ago, tsunami evacuation orders. We're broadcast across
- 20:35Speaker 1: the Pacific because of an eight point eight earthquake in
- 20:40Speaker 1: Russia's far East. Luckily, within a number of hours those
- 20:44Speaker 1: tsunami evacuation orders were lifted in Hawaii and the West
- 20:49Speaker 1: United States waves tsunami waves still hit US shores after
- 20:56Speaker 1: that earthquake, but for the most part, from what I've seen,
- 21:00Speaker 1: roll in pardon the punt is no extensive damage or
- 21:05Speaker 1: uh life lost from the tsunami from that eight point
- 21:10Speaker 1: eight earthquake in Russia, but scary moments for a lot
- 21:15Speaker 1: of people that live on the in the Pacific region,
- 21:19Speaker 1: because I mean, eight point eight is nothing to shake
- 21:21Speaker 1: a stick at.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Well, it's the second largest in history. I think the
- 21:26Speaker 4: one from Indonesia was nine point one nine point two.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Was that the one from like twenty something years ago
- 21:32Speaker 1: that sparked the deadly tsunamis?
- 21:34Speaker 5: Yes?
- 21:35Speaker 1: Okay, God, that was a nine yep who.
- 21:41Speaker 5: And that was the largest in history at that moment,
- 21:43Speaker 5: So okay, now it's the second largest. Yeah.
- 21:48Speaker 7: I saw a graphic they did, like the like top
- 21:51Speaker 7: ten worst earthquakes ever, and this one was I want
- 21:54Speaker 7: to say, Rogers right, tied for third.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I mean, wow, eight point yeah.
- 21:57Speaker 4: I think the north Ridge earthquake in was a six
- 22:00Speaker 4: point four. Okay, just to give you an idea.
- 22:05Speaker 1: And there's been lots of interesting stories coming out about
- 22:07Speaker 1: these tsunami warnings and evacuation orders as they hit the
- 22:11Speaker 1: Western United States, including Hawaii, obviously because it's right out
- 22:15Speaker 1: there in the middle of the Pacific in harm's way.
- 22:18Speaker 1: You had some locals claiming Oprah Winfrey, Oprah Winfrey's road.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Don't laugh at me.
- 22:26Speaker 3: You say that.
- 22:26Speaker 1: You say it. Say it, Dick. You talk as much
- 22:32Speaker 1: as I do, and you get every word right. So anyway,
- 22:35Speaker 1: a bunch of locals were claiming that Oprah Winfrey's road
- 22:39Speaker 1: see now say all three of those raj.
- 22:41Speaker 5: Oprah Winfrey's road see not so easy, is it? It's okay,
- 22:45Speaker 5: I get the I get the little hiccup.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Oprah Winfrey's road was clothed. Anyway. Locals were claiming that
- 22:52Speaker 1: Oprah Winfrey's road was closed and therefore they couldn't make
- 22:57Speaker 1: it to high ground during these tsunami warnings. Oprah Winfrey's
- 23:01Speaker 1: people immediately came out and said, no, no, that's not true.
- 23:05Speaker 1: That road was open. As soon as we heard the warnings,
- 23:08Speaker 1: we contacted local emergency personnel and said the road is open,
- 23:12Speaker 1: free and clear. Please take this. Just don't just don't
- 23:16Speaker 1: come in the house.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Opebrius should have said Gail closed it.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Or blamed Stedman, the uh the other. The other interesting
- 23:30Speaker 1: story about this to come out of the tsunami warnings
- 23:35Speaker 1: was that wiki key tourists turned the tsunami warnings into
- 23:39Speaker 1: balcony parties when higher waves were expected to hit. A
- 23:44Speaker 1: reporter was live and Waikiki and was surprised to find
- 23:47Speaker 1: that people staying in higher floors of hotels were having
- 23:50Speaker 1: balcony parties. Where there's a disaster, there's going to be
- 23:57Speaker 1: partiers and the bar still open. If the bar is
- 24:04Speaker 1: still open, I mean that that that right there is
- 24:06Speaker 1: the reason why there is a waffle House index. People
- 24:09Speaker 1: gauge the severity or the expected severity of a storm
- 24:13Speaker 1: based on whether or not waffle House closes ahead of time.
- 24:16Speaker 1: If waffle House closes ahead of time, people bug out.
- 24:19Speaker 1: If waffle House is still open, then we're getting them
- 24:22Speaker 1: smothered and covered. Storm be damned.
- 24:26Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 24:27Speaker 7: There was one video of a guy he was just
- 24:29Speaker 7: like sitting on the sea wall, actually kind of kneeling,
- 24:33Speaker 7: videoing the ocean and you're just and it just you
- 24:37Speaker 7: start seeing the ocean rise. I would say it's probably
- 24:41Speaker 7: five foot and then you know it's waters up to
- 24:45Speaker 7: four feet three feet. Did you not see the videos
- 24:50Speaker 7: from from you know, Indonesia and that twenty years ago?
- 24:54Speaker 3: Why why just just run if you see?
- 24:59Speaker 1: Got to do it for I, but I got to
- 25:01Speaker 1: do it for the Graham.
- 25:02Speaker 7: When the ocean draws back, run Look at atlant it's
- 25:10Speaker 7: winding up. Yeah, look at planet Earth like a giant wiener.
- 25:14Speaker 1: If it is unsheathing. Run.
- 25:22Speaker 5: That was really weird.
- 25:28Speaker 1: When when the one the when the water recedes in
- 25:31Speaker 1: the ocean, you should not go walking out towards it
- 25:34Speaker 1: to see what what's the matter, Just go to the
- 25:36Speaker 1: opposite direction.
- 25:37Speaker 3: That was literally the craziest thing. I think.
- 25:40Speaker 7: I think it was uh natural. I think it was
- 25:44Speaker 7: nat Geo that did a documentary last year where they
- 25:46Speaker 7: they had gotten footage just all this home video footage
- 25:50Speaker 7: that people hadn't seen over twenty years from from the
- 25:53Speaker 7: Indonesian tsunami. And the craziest thing was I mean when
- 25:57Speaker 7: the ocean drew back, like it's hundreds of feet of
- 26:03Speaker 7: land you haven't seen ever run.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Yeah, just hearing you describe that gives me chills thinking
- 26:12Speaker 1: about standing someplace where you're like, oh, I used to
- 26:14Speaker 1: you know, bodyboard, maybe a little surfing, some paddle boarding,
- 26:17Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, hundreds of feet or hundreds
- 26:19Speaker 1: of yards of ocean draw back and I'm now seeing
- 26:25Speaker 1: things that were forty feet below the surface of the
- 26:30Speaker 1: ocean that I'm now seeing and the sun is shining
- 26:32Speaker 1: on it. Kind of a thing that's terrifying.
- 26:35Speaker 3: And people were walking out there, yeah, like oh, look, unexplored.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Territory unless there is some Jewish man with a big
- 26:47Speaker 1: stick standing in the middle of it, asking for God's
- 26:50Speaker 1: help to receive these waters. Don't walk out there.
- 26:55Speaker 7: Now, I'm pretty sure at that point even Moses have
- 26:57Speaker 7: been like, higher ground, We're out.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm go back up and take a look at
- 27:04Speaker 1: these commandments on the top of this mountain.
- 27:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 4: When I when you see that pull back, I don't
- 27:11Speaker 4: know what the curiosity is, like, what's going on? Like
- 27:15Speaker 4: I wouldn't have that. I'd be like, Okay, so we're leaving.
- 27:19Speaker 4: So this was our day at the beach. I'll see
- 27:21Speaker 4: you guys later.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Don't you hate it when you go to the beach
- 27:26Speaker 1: and the ocean leaves days over?
- 27:31Speaker 3: Man, just go home.
- 27:32Speaker 5: Yeah, that's exactly right.

- 28:28Speaker 1: talking about that eight point eight magnitude earthquake that hit
- 28:31Speaker 1: Russia that sent tsunami warnings throughout the Pacific region. And
- 28:36Speaker 1: in the aftermath of those tsunami warnings, roj you said
- 28:39Speaker 1: you saw something pretty interesting.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Uh no, I'm just talking about the documentary that Trey
- 28:43Speaker 4: was watching. If you Indonesia, when the ocean recedes, you
- 28:49Speaker 4: can still see people like coming. I guess it was
- 28:51Speaker 4: like a walk up bar and you can still see
- 28:54Speaker 4: people like grabbing their drinks and sitting down as that
- 28:59Speaker 4: ocean receip and then a giant wall of water is
- 29:03Speaker 4: coming to you and they're just sitting there and in
- 29:06Speaker 4: loungers they brought.
- 29:07Speaker 3: Yeah, they brought beach chairs.
- 29:09Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, wells going on.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I was gonna say, if you've ever gone to an
- 29:15Speaker 1: all inclusive resort, it's hard to get those loungers. So
- 29:18Speaker 1: when one comes open, you gotta go for it. Uh yeah,
- 29:24Speaker 1: if you're bringing your Yeah, if you're bringing your own
- 29:28Speaker 1: what was that? Ra I said?
- 29:29Speaker 4: How good was that drink? I gotta sit and I'm
- 29:33Speaker 4: just gonna watch this water come right towards me. But
- 29:36Speaker 4: this is fantastic.
- 29:38Speaker 1: This is this is tasty. It's so refreshing, not as
- 29:42Speaker 1: refreshing as the one hundred foot wall of water is
- 29:44Speaker 1: going to be when it crushes you. That is a
- 29:48Speaker 1: great question, though, It's like that would actually make for
- 29:50Speaker 1: a terror like a really really good terrible resort ad
- 29:54Speaker 1: where you show those people walking out onto the beach
- 29:57Speaker 1: with their with their drinks and say, here, here at
- 30:03Speaker 1: the Sri Lanka Lakina, the drinks are so good you'll
- 30:11Speaker 1: brave a tsunami for our ocean side beverages.
- 30:17Speaker 5: That's a fantastic joke. By the way, there was no
- 30:20Speaker 5: fat in.
- 30:20Speaker 3: That at all.
- 30:25Speaker 1: It's an ad campaign waiting to happen.
- 30:29Speaker 7: That'll it's a fascinating documentary because the other thing that's
- 30:32Speaker 7: just crazy is when the people that are higher up
- 30:36Speaker 7: in the balconies whatever start yelling at the people on
- 30:39Speaker 7: the beach run and they don't want to spill their drinks,
- 30:43Speaker 7: so they just start Some of them just start casually
- 30:45Speaker 7: walking back.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Like fast walking, but still sipping out of the straw, not.
- 30:50Speaker 7: Even fast walking. They don't start fast walking until they
- 30:52Speaker 7: realize it's too late. I mean sadly, but yeah, it's
- 30:57Speaker 7: it's like, let's see the oceans just sucked back like
- 31:00Speaker 7: two hundred feet from where.
- 31:01Speaker 3: It normally is. People are yelling at you to run.
- 31:06Speaker 1: Can I get another shri lunkan sprints?
- 31:08Speaker 5: Please off another white claw?
- 31:11Speaker 1: H Speaking of spritzes, have you guys heard of the
- 31:17Speaker 1: trailer park sprits. This is apparently the new drink of
- 31:23Speaker 1: the summer, the trailer park Sprits. However, some experts are
- 31:29Speaker 1: calling it a recession indicator. No more apparol for you
- 31:35Speaker 1: this year. Some people might argue that it's the Hugo Sprits,
- 31:39Speaker 1: or perhaps the paper Plane, which was crowned twenty twenty
- 31:42Speaker 1: five's drink of the year. Yet, with rising costs of
- 31:45Speaker 1: inflation and ensuing shrinking while it's a lot of people
- 31:48Speaker 1: are turning to the Spaghette, a Miller high life with
- 31:52Speaker 1: a splash of apparol and a squeeze of lemon, as
- 31:55Speaker 1: a more budget friendly option for a refreshing hot weather bev.
- 31:59Speaker 1: That's a to business insider. So the trailer park Sprits
- 32:04Speaker 1: is a Miller high Life with a splash of aparol
- 32:06Speaker 1: and a squeeze of lemon, and it's taking the summer
- 32:09Speaker 1: by storm. It's also known as the NASCAR and the gronie.
- 32:19Speaker 5: I'm so glad that sentence ended the way it did.
- 32:22Speaker 9: Uh.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that could have that could have that could have
- 32:24Speaker 1: had a real dangerous left turn.
- 32:28Speaker 5: What is apparrel? I don't know what that is.
- 32:31Speaker 3: It's a liqueur, okay, basically kind of a strawberry root.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Oh, a little Miller highline, a little strawberry and lemon wedge.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Don't forget that, oh lemon wedge. Yeah, stay classy.
- 32:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:44Speaker 1: But by the way, aparol is not tasty, remember.
- 32:49Speaker 3: Like that's.
- 32:51Speaker 5: It's like a grenadine or something like that.
- 32:53Speaker 1: No, that tastes delicious because it's full of sugar. Uh.
- 32:59Speaker 1: And grenadine doesn't have any have any liquor in it.
- 33:02Speaker 1: It's just it's just a pure mainline diabetes bringer. Yeah,
- 33:09Speaker 1: but that's that. The grenadine is what's going to make
- 33:10Speaker 1: a lot of things taste good and turn pinkish. Now,
- 33:13Speaker 1: it's like there's an apparel sprits, which I've heard people
- 33:18Speaker 1: order for years and I've never had one. Uh. Then
- 33:22Speaker 1: had a friend ordered just an apparol, like just a
- 33:25Speaker 1: little bit of aperrel, and I don't know why, but
- 33:27Speaker 1: that's what they had. And I was like I've never
- 33:29Speaker 1: had that. Can I have a little sip of that?
- 33:30Speaker 1: They said, you're here, you go, and I'm sure they
- 33:32Speaker 1: were fine with it because it tastes terrible. It just
- 33:37Speaker 1: it's there. Like Trey said, it's sort of a strawberry flavor.
- 33:40Speaker 1: I didn't get any of that, mainly just because I
- 33:42Speaker 1: have a terrible palette.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Well no, it's I misspoke. It's a more of an
- 33:46Speaker 3: orange liquor.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Well orange. I'm glad I didn't drink all of it, but.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Some people love it.
- 33:56Speaker 5: I mean, yeah, yeah.
- 33:59Speaker 1: So there's the apparalls, which is apparol and what else Trey.
- 34:03Speaker 5: Club soda.
- 34:05Speaker 3: I mean, you can do soda water, or you can
- 34:11Speaker 3: do some wine.
- 34:14Speaker 1: That's what I usually see it done with.
- 34:16Speaker 5: Yeah, mixed wine wine like interesting.
- 34:20Speaker 3: The sprits thing has multiple variations.
- 34:23Speaker 5: Yeah, joscha.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Uh So, anyway, if you guys want to try, well,
- 34:28Speaker 1: not you, Trey, because you've been sober almost nine years. Uh,
- 34:31Speaker 1: if you want to try the NASCAR and the Groni
- 34:33Speaker 1: also known as the trailer Park sprits. There you have
- 34:38Speaker 1: the recipe. It's a Miller high Life, which is of
- 34:40Speaker 1: course the champagne apparol and a lemon wedge.
- 34:47Speaker 5: Where would you order this at? Like what Bard knows this.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Aperol sprits.
- 34:53Speaker 5: No, no, no, the trailer park, oh sprits.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Finding a bar that carries mg ds is pretty hard.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Go to the obvious. Go to Mecca, Texas Motor Speedway. Oh,
- 35:11Speaker 1: I mean, just imagine being on the infield and you're
- 35:14Speaker 1: making them yourself on the infield and you hang a
- 35:18Speaker 1: sign that says NASCAR and the Groni's sold here. Oh yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 1: You'll have a line all the way out of the
- 35:26Speaker 1: U course.
- 35:29Speaker 3: And people really disappointed at a drink.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Kind of an offentness.

- 36:20Speaker 1: on social media. Today is Thursday July thirty first, twenty
- 36:25Speaker 1: twenty five. Let's celebrate today with some Earth Days. Rico
- 36:32Speaker 1: Rodriguez the second is twenty seven years old today. He
- 36:37Speaker 1: is best and I believe only known for playing Manny
- 36:40Speaker 1: Delgado on Modern Family. So the actor Rico Rodriguez, the
- 36:44Speaker 1: second who plays Manny Delgado on Modern Family, turns twenty
- 36:48Speaker 1: seven today. It's also a good offspring birthday day, not
- 36:54Speaker 1: the band actual offspring. Ruby Modine is thirty five. She's
- 36:58Speaker 1: Matthew Modine's daughter. She was the killer in the first
- 37:02Speaker 1: Happy Death Day. She was also a waitress named Sierra
- 37:05Speaker 1: on Shameless. Matthew Modine, by the way, really hasn't really
- 37:11Speaker 1: had too much of a dry spell in his career.
- 37:13Speaker 1: It's been pretty consistent, and then he had a huge
- 37:15Speaker 1: resurgence as Papa on Stranger Things, which leads me to
- 37:20Speaker 1: ask you, guys, have you seen the teaser for Stranger
- 37:22Speaker 1: Things five? About last week? I believe and last I saw?
- 37:27Speaker 1: It had over twenty million views on YouTube. So if
- 37:30Speaker 1: you Trey I know you're a Stranger Things watcher, the
- 37:34Speaker 1: season five teaser you can take a look at on YouTube.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Another offspring birthday. Zelda Williams turns thirty six. She's Robin
- 37:44Speaker 1: Williams's daughter. She was on the Freedom series Dead of
- 37:47Speaker 1: Summer and has guest starred on teen Wolf and Stitchers.
- 37:51Speaker 1: So Zelda Williams, daughter of Robin Turns thirty six today.
- 37:55Speaker 1: She plays Stacey in the Pitch Perfect movies. Alexis Nap
- 37:58Speaker 1: is also thirty six from Avenged Sevenfold. Im Shadows is
- 38:03Speaker 1: forty four.
- 38:03Speaker 3: Good for him?
- 38:04Speaker 5: What's a Cool Name?
- 38:07Speaker 1: Bj Novak is forty six today, best known as Ryan
- 38:11Speaker 1: on the Office, he is a writer producer extraordinaire. In
- 38:15Speaker 1: addition to work on the Office, he did a lot
- 38:18Speaker 1: of work on the Mendi project as well, and he
- 38:21Speaker 1: had a movie come out last year. I can't remember
- 38:22Speaker 1: the name of it, but it was supposed to be good.
- 38:24Speaker 1: That's as much as I know about it. Country superstar
- 38:27Speaker 1: Zach Brown is forty seven. Dean Kin former Superman from
- 38:33Speaker 1: Lewis and Clark and Kara's dad on Supergirl, and Fox
- 38:37Speaker 1: News contributor Dean Kin is fifty nine to day. He
- 38:42Speaker 1: stuck his name in the middle of the Superman controversy
- 38:46Speaker 1: two weeks ago by saying that Superman is super woke
- 38:50Speaker 1: because of a pro immigrant agenda. Tell me you hadn't
- 38:54Speaker 1: seen the movie without telling me you hadn't seen the movie,
- 38:58Speaker 1: Jesus christ Man, just stop it, Just stop fanning the
- 39:02Speaker 1: culture war flames. I'm tired of this stuff. Anyone that
- 39:06Speaker 1: even thought the movie was going to be that and
- 39:08Speaker 1: went into the movie ready to be angry and bust
- 39:11Speaker 1: out the Superman super woke Pitchforks should have seen the
- 39:15Speaker 1: movie and said, no, it's not. He's just a big
- 39:19Speaker 1: blue boy scout. By the way, it was a nickname
- 39:21Speaker 1: for him in the comic books. What they did was
- 39:25Speaker 1: is they picked up on the one word that director
- 39:28Speaker 1: James Gutten shouldn't have used when describing Superman, and that
- 39:31Speaker 1: was an immigrant. Even though, by the way, it's true,
- 39:37Speaker 1: if you are just learning that Superman is an illegal alien,
- 39:42Speaker 1: I believe the problem is you Superman has always been
- 39:45Speaker 1: an illegal alien and he's clearly not going anywhere. So
- 39:52Speaker 1: if you're running around wearing a deport Superman t shirt,
- 39:55Speaker 1: I know you have not seen the movie. All right,
- 39:58Speaker 1: off my siltbox on that one. Jk. Rowling is a
- 40:02Speaker 1: sixty man. This is an interesting day for birthdays, for controversy.
- 40:05Speaker 3: JK.
- 40:06Speaker 1: Rowling versus trans people, Dean Kane versus Superman. This is fun.
- 40:14Speaker 1: You two going at it over Sidney Sweeney's jeans. What
- 40:18Speaker 1: a fun day in the treehouse. Mark Cuban turned sixty seven.
- 40:26Speaker 1: What a dick.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 40:29Speaker 1: The only reason I say that, The only reason I
- 40:31Speaker 1: say that is because I really wish he had not
- 40:33Speaker 1: sold the Mavericks to the Addlesons. That is a horrible, horrible,
- 40:37Speaker 1: horrible group of people to have purchased them maps. Not
- 40:39Speaker 1: because of anything politically, but because they did what I
- 40:42Speaker 1: hate when big corporate things, when big corporate companies do
- 40:46Speaker 1: stupid things thinking they know better than everybody else. Yes,
- 40:49Speaker 1: I'm talking about them trading Luca. They didn't think the
- 40:52Speaker 1: blowback was going to be a big deal. Guess what
- 40:54Speaker 1: it was. And then an ultimate corporate irony, they get
- 40:59Speaker 1: gifted on a lege less than two percent chance of
- 41:02Speaker 1: getting the top pick in the NBA draft. They get it,
- 41:06Speaker 1: and they pick up the next great White Hope in
- 41:09Speaker 1: Cooper Flag. That's why I think Mark Cuban the dick.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Otherwise he's a really good person. I appreciate what he's
- 41:16Speaker 1: trying to do with prescription drug prices. I just wish
- 41:19Speaker 1: he hadn't sold the MAVs to the Addlestons, who then
- 41:21Speaker 1: made the biggest sports blunder in DFW history.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but don't don't.
- 41:26Speaker 5: I mean.
- 41:28Speaker 7: Cuban was around, I know he says he wasn't consulted
- 41:30Speaker 7: on it, but uh, it wasn't what's his name like?
- 41:36Speaker 7: Didn't Cuban say yes, he was going to be a
- 41:38Speaker 7: good GM.
- 41:41Speaker 1: He was until he wasn't.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Well, you know, isn't that always the case?
- 41:47Speaker 1: I honestly don't know.
- 41:49Speaker 7: I mean, let me unless you're Jerry Jones. You know,
- 41:53Speaker 7: typically people are you know, all gms are good until
- 41:55Speaker 7: they're not.
- 41:57Speaker 1: And one would argue that most gms are bad because
- 42:01Speaker 1: the shelf lives for general managers and professional sports is
- 42:06Speaker 1: probably about the same for NFL players longevity, which is
- 42:10Speaker 1: around three and a half years.
- 42:12Speaker 7: And I will still say this, as much as everyone
- 42:14Speaker 7: hates to say it, that is a trade that you
- 42:18Speaker 7: really can't fully judge, probably until a year or two
- 42:21Speaker 7: from now. If Luca completely breaks down, people are gonna go,
- 42:25Speaker 7: all right, maybe you know, they knew something that we didn't.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I don't necessarily think it'll be of just a bonus.
- 42:33Speaker 1: I don't think it'll be a breakdown factor for Luca.
- 42:37Speaker 1: If he ends up back in a Lakers uniform having
- 42:41Speaker 1: gained sixty pounds and eaten his feelings and perhaps a
- 42:46Speaker 1: couple of teammates, then yeah, they can point and say, see,
- 42:49Speaker 1: we were right, but they don't get to then point
- 42:53Speaker 1: their finger and say, look how great it turned out.
- 42:55Speaker 1: This was our plan the whole time to luck into
- 43:00Speaker 1: the top pick in the NBA draft with a less
- 43:02Speaker 1: than two percent chance. Basically, it was bad behavior being rewarded.
- 43:07Speaker 1: And so they can't point and say this is their
- 43:09Speaker 1: grand plan the entire time, because it wasn't. They said
- 43:12Speaker 1: their grand plan was to double down on defense by
- 43:15Speaker 1: getting rid of liability Luca, and then within two weeks
- 43:19Speaker 1: of getting the best defensive guy in the league, he
- 43:21Speaker 1: was broke down because he got a sad groin.
- 43:26Speaker 11: I hope the MAVs do a good jeens ad who
- 43:32Speaker 11: they need to star in it though, Cooper Flag Well,
- 43:37Speaker 11: that is the obvious choice.

- 45:18Speaker 1: I said earlier that there was more white meat on
- 45:21Speaker 1: that Sydney Sweeney American Eagle Jeans ad Bone, So let's
- 45:24Speaker 1: get back into it, Trey. Do you still feel like
- 45:31Speaker 1: that it's a woke mob going a little too Frankenstein?
- 45:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I think people.
- 45:41Speaker 7: If you don't like the ad, that's fine, But I
- 45:44Speaker 7: don't think there was Nazi propaganda behind it.
- 45:48Speaker 3: I don't think Again, she's the it girl right now.
- 45:54Speaker 1: Do you think that it is similar to I don't
- 45:57Speaker 1: think they intended it to be Nazi propaganda, But do
- 46:00Speaker 1: you think it is similar to Nazi propaganda promoting a
- 46:06Speaker 1: supreme race?
- 46:07Speaker 3: No, they're promoting a mediocre gene.
- 46:13Speaker 4: Raj your counterpoint, No, I mean, I'll stand by it.
- 46:19Speaker 4: It is I mean, it's clearly racist. It's clearly I
- 46:24Speaker 4: don't know Nazi propaganda, but I mean it's I mean,
- 46:27Speaker 4: it's promoting like we are the supreme gene, we are
- 46:30Speaker 4: the supreme gene, we are the supreme race.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Whatever else it says, good genes?
- 46:36Speaker 4: Is it?
- 46:36Speaker 1: Is it a blind spot? Is it a blind spot
- 46:41Speaker 1: for some Caucasians to not realize what it is that
- 46:47Speaker 1: we're doing by saying, hey, look there's this chicks, You've
- 46:50Speaker 1: got really good genes. Isn't that clever without thinking about
- 46:53Speaker 1: the fact that they're unintentionally promoting the whiteness.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Why can't it she?
- 47:01Speaker 7: Just like I said, by most any metric you would
- 47:06Speaker 7: judge a person jeans, you would say she has good
- 47:10Speaker 7: genes take color out?
- 47:11Speaker 5: Are we judging people on jeans?
- 47:13Speaker 11: Like?
- 47:14Speaker 5: Why why are we doing that again?
- 47:16Speaker 1: And by jeans you mean the g E N E
- 47:18Speaker 1: s as the genetics.
- 47:19Speaker 4: Okay, why are we doing the Why are we doing
- 47:21Speaker 4: that again? Because that's what that's what, that's how that
- 47:23Speaker 4: started over there?
- 47:26Speaker 3: First of all, it really you want to get back
- 47:28Speaker 3: it started here?
- 47:33Speaker 5: What do you mean?
- 47:34Speaker 3: I mean eugenics wasn't something that Hitler came up with.
- 47:37Speaker 3: That was Woodrow Wilson was a big proponent of it.
- 47:41Speaker 5: That was the Klan.
- 47:42Speaker 4: That wasn't That doesn't make it its Woodrow Wilson not
- 47:45Speaker 4: the Klan. Yeah, Woods Woods, Well, I mean he was
- 47:47Speaker 4: a big supporter of the clan. I mean I think
- 47:49Speaker 4: he had what was the movie that was You're.
- 47:55Speaker 3: But again they're not saying she's white. She said good jeans.
- 48:00Speaker 1: So and that's why I'm asking, and that's why I'm asking, Right,
- 48:03Speaker 1: is it a blind spot for white people to say
- 48:05Speaker 1: it's not that? But we don't see it, We don't
- 48:08Speaker 1: see it as tone deaf?
- 48:10Speaker 5: That is correct.
- 48:11Speaker 3: So if if it had been a person of color,
- 48:14Speaker 3: it would it be Okay.
- 48:16Speaker 5: They wouldn't have made that ad.
- 48:22Speaker 4: Why again, you're doing hypotheticals like if I was seven
- 48:27Speaker 4: feet tall, I'd be dunking, you know what I mean.
- 48:31Speaker 4: They wouldn't have made that ad. They picked that ad,
- 48:33Speaker 4: they picked those words, They picked that.
- 48:35Speaker 3: Choice because she's the it girl right now.
- 48:41Speaker 5: Okay, and the market's fine for it. And it's okay.
- 48:47Speaker 4: That's what the dan's saying. It's a blind spot, you guys, aren't.
- 48:50Speaker 4: You're not seeing it.
- 48:51Speaker 5: That's the first thing I saw.
- 48:53Speaker 1: And I think the reason why I bring that up
- 48:55Speaker 1: is because one, I enjoy stirring this melting pot here
- 48:59Speaker 1: inside the tree.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Uh.
- 49:01Speaker 1: And two it's because if if you have not been
- 49:07Speaker 1: discriminated against, it's hard to see discrimination on a huge
- 49:13Speaker 1: billboard in the middle of Times Square, which is what
- 49:16Speaker 1: I'm gleaning from the people that are outraged about this ad.
- 49:20Speaker 1: While keeping in mind, I would like to also maintain
- 49:23Speaker 1: my firm position on this fence in saying I don't
- 49:27Speaker 1: think they intended it to be racist. And I also
- 49:30Speaker 1: think if you're super super mad about this, then you
- 49:33Speaker 1: should consider yourself lucky that this is the thing that's
- 49:36Speaker 1: got you angriest today.
- 49:39Speaker 5: Yes, I'll agree with that, yeah for sure.
- 49:44Speaker 7: If it's Yeah, if it's that if it don't buy
- 49:46Speaker 7: an American eagle, like if there, I don't know anyone
- 49:50Speaker 7: that does well.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Again, this was their big swing again.
- 49:57Speaker 7: One of those things someone you know, calm it on
- 50:00Speaker 7: a post I made about this, like so, yeah, people
- 50:05Speaker 7: are talking about their company. They're they're getting more press
- 50:09Speaker 7: yeah than that than they could have ever hoped for.
- 50:12Speaker 5: Oh so interesting how that happened? Like they by accident?
- 50:16Speaker 1: Okay, Oh I think it was. Yeah, I think it
- 50:18Speaker 1: was absolutely not. I think the reason why I think
- 50:21Speaker 1: it was. I don't think this is some grand plan.
- 50:23Speaker 1: The reason why is because the ad is utter crap.
- 50:26Speaker 1: It's like it's like I said earlier, this is basic
- 50:29Speaker 1: bitch marketing. I have any anthea, Let's do blue eyes
- 50:33Speaker 1: and blue denim and good genes and good genes haha, and.
- 50:40Speaker 4: A toxic society right now and the way things are going. Yeah,
- 50:44Speaker 4: that was done on purpose. They have they have marketing
- 50:47Speaker 4: groups like they have.
- 50:48Speaker 1: They do people and we've known many of those people,
- 50:51Speaker 1: I think. And one of the problems that society has
- 50:53Speaker 1: these days is it gives too much credit to idiots.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Sometimes people just do something real effing dumb, and there
- 51:02Speaker 1: was no master plan. Involved in it, and I think
- 51:05Speaker 1: this is one of those cases.
- 51:07Speaker 7: It's an old joke, it's not I think someone was
- 51:11Speaker 7: being cute and and I don't think there was ill intent.
- 51:14Speaker 7: I don't think there was a racial element to it.
- 51:19Speaker 7: I think they saw Sidney Sweeney, like I said, Gez,
- 51:21Speaker 7: kind of.
- 51:22Speaker 3: The four where old movie.
- 51:24Speaker 4: It's all Sidney Sweeney and a forty year old movie,
- 51:27Speaker 4: and decided to put that together.
- 51:28Speaker 1: Honestly, I don't even know if they know about the
- 51:30Speaker 1: Big Chill that Bad Trey's talking about. But I only
- 51:34Speaker 1: would I would argue that I doubt the Big Chill
- 51:37Speaker 1: was the first time anyone ever made the connection between
- 51:39Speaker 1: genes of pants and jeens genetics. The fact is someone
- 51:44Speaker 1: thought of it and thought it was super clever, and
- 51:46Speaker 1: it's not as clever as they thought it was, and
- 51:48Speaker 1: they put it in this ad, and now they're dealing
- 51:50Speaker 1: with all this backlash. Yeah, and again, I think I
- 51:56Speaker 1: think a large part of it is people that are
- 51:59Speaker 1: being super outraged by it are giving too much credit
- 52:03Speaker 1: thinking that there was some sort of master Nazi propaganda
- 52:06Speaker 1: racist ad machine going on in here. I think it
- 52:09Speaker 1: was because some jackass ad executive thought he had an
- 52:13Speaker 1: award winning idea based on an old trope.
- 52:16Speaker 7: I mean, Dad, what you said, and I agree with you,
- 52:19Speaker 7: is that you're giving people too much credit for being like,
- 52:22Speaker 7: you know, mad scientists, evil geniuses. It's like the government,
- 52:26Speaker 7: you know everyone. There's some big cabal, but most of
- 52:29Speaker 7: them are idiots.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Exactly. There's no deep state. It's very shallow.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know what, they still find a way.
- 52:35Speaker 1: To drown themselves in him and the country with it.
- 52:38Speaker 5: There's no deep state.
- 52:39Speaker 1: It's right there in like two inches of water which
- 52:41Speaker 1: you can still drown.
- 52:41Speaker 3: And we are it's a shallow gene pool.
- 52:47Speaker 1: Well, I'm sure glad we cracked that nut today. For
