Ten years ago, I wrote a story called The Woolgatherer and illustrated it as part of a weekly creative challenge I created for myself. For reasons I don't entirely understand, it came wandering back into my thoughts this week.
In this episode, I read the first three chapters of the story, then do a little woolgathering about identity, the roles we take on, and the temptation to turn something that feels alive into: This is what I do now. This is who I am.
I also revisit the painting I made for the original story—and discover that my imaginary Woolgatherer from ten years ago…
