- 0:03Speaker 1: Hi again, everybody. I'm Dan Horde and thanks for downloading
- 0:06Speaker 1: The Bengals Booth Podcast. Uh feeling blessed, never stressed, got
- 0:13Speaker 1: that sunshine on my Sunday Bassist edition as we savor
- 0:19Speaker 1: the sweet nectar of victory for the first time in
- 0:22Speaker 1: the twenty twenty season and of the Joe Burrow Era
- 0:25Speaker 1: a thirty three twenty five win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Coming up, you'll hear radio replays, postgame comments from players
- 0:32Speaker 1: and coaches, and in depth analysis from my broadcast partner
- 0:36Speaker 1: Dave Lapham. And this week's fun facts segment is one
- 0:40Speaker 1: of my all time favorites. If you are not already
- 0:43Speaker 1: a fan of Mike Daniels, I promise you that you
- 0:46Speaker 1: will be after hearing our conversation. The Bengals Booth Podcast
- 0:50Speaker 1: is presented by Prime Sport, the official hospitality partner of
- 0:54Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals. And here's a quick reminder that you
- 0:57Speaker 1: can have the latest edition of this podcast delivered write
- 1:00Speaker 1: to your phone, tablet, or computer by subscribing on iTunes, Stitcher,
- 1:04Speaker 1: Google Play, Spotify, or pod Bean. It's the greatest thing
- 1:09Speaker 1: since oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies. I hate raisins I particularly
- 1:16Speaker 1: hate raisins that ruin a perfectly good oatmeal cookie. You
- 1:20Speaker 1: take a bite hoping that those little dots are chocolate chips,
- 1:24Speaker 1: only to be fooled yet again by the presence of
- 1:27Speaker 1: the evil raisin. Well, this past Saturday, my good friend
- 1:31Speaker 1: Megan Coffee brought oatmeal cookies to the UC football game
- 1:35Speaker 1: that did, in fact contain chocolate chips instead of deer droppings,
- 1:40Speaker 1: I mean raisins. Megan's cookies were fantastic. So if you
- 1:46Speaker 1: bake and ever consider making oatmeal cookies, do everybody a
- 1:51Speaker 1: favor and go with chocolate chips instead of raisins, because
- 1:55Speaker 1: very simply, raisins ruin everything. Now let's get to the game.
- 2:03Speaker 1: It couldn't have started much better for the Bengals. His
- 2:05Speaker 1: Cincinnati's defense got a takeaway on the Jaguars fifth play.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Minshi throws over the middle. He batted up in the
- 2:11Speaker 1: air and intercepted. Jesse Bates deflected it, Jordan Evans intercepts it,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and the Bengals will take over in Jaguar's territory at
- 2:20Speaker 1: the forty three yard line. But typical of the first
- 2:23Speaker 1: three games of the season, the Bengals failed to capitalize
- 2:26Speaker 1: they gained three yards in three plays and had to punt.
- 2:30Speaker 1: It turned out to be Kevin Huber's only punt all day.
- 2:34Speaker 1: The second time the Bengals got the ball, they drove
- 2:36Speaker 1: into the red zone before stalling and calling on Randy Bullock.
- 2:40Speaker 1: He has made eight out of nine field goal tries
- 2:43Speaker 1: this year. We all remember the miss, unfortunately, the snap
- 2:46Speaker 1: and the kick. It is up and it is good,
- 2:49Speaker 1: and the Bengals score first with two forty one left
- 2:53Speaker 1: in the first quarter here at Paul Brown Stadium. The
- 2:56Speaker 1: three nothing lead only lasted for about two minutes. Quarterback
- 3:00Speaker 1: Gardner Minshew, who came out to warm up about two
- 3:02Speaker 1: and a half hours before kickoff in a sleeveless T
- 3:05Speaker 1: shirt to show off the guns, a crop top to
- 3:08Speaker 1: show off the abs, and a backward baseball cap to
- 3:12Speaker 1: accentuate the mullet, gave Jacksonville the lead first and ten
- 3:16Speaker 1: from the eleven yard line. Minshew, under center, takes the snap,
- 3:19Speaker 1: fakes a hand off to Robinson, throws it toward the
- 3:21Speaker 1: back left corner of the end zone. Chark is there,
- 3:24Speaker 1: touchdown Jacksonville with the Jags up seven three. The Bengals
- 3:28Speaker 1: answered with an eighty eight yard drive that brought them
- 3:31Speaker 1: within inches of the goal line. From an eye formation,
- 3:34Speaker 1: Burrow under center, he fakes a handoff to Mix and
- 3:37Speaker 1: he throws it toward the back left corner of the
- 3:39Speaker 1: end zone in his cause. No picked off took it
- 3:43Speaker 1: away from sample Are they saying that he did take
- 3:45Speaker 1: it away? The officials are discussing it in the back
- 3:48Speaker 1: left corner. It's an interception. Miles Jack came away with
- 3:52Speaker 1: a ball. Jack came away in coverage with the football.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It was a lousy call by me, and it's easy
- 3:58Speaker 1: to second guess the play call as well. Third and
- 4:01Speaker 1: goal inside the one, and rather than a quarterback sneak
- 4:04Speaker 1: or a Joe Mixon run, Burrow's pass was picked off.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Here's Zach Taylor third and goal in the inchyard line.
- 4:10Speaker 1: You know you kick yourself. Well, we gotta make that point.
- 4:12Speaker 1: You know, that's a fifty fifty point that we gotta make.
- 4:14Speaker 1: And so we left a lot of points on the
- 4:16Speaker 1: field best for sure. But that was the last drive
- 4:18Speaker 1: all day where the Bengals were trying to score and didn't.
- 4:22Speaker 1: After Jacksonville field goal made it ten three, the Bengals
- 4:25Speaker 1: found the end zone for the first time one o
- 4:28Speaker 1: three left and a half, the Bengals down by seven points.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Burrow extends the hands, catches the shotgun snap, swings it right,
- 4:34Speaker 1: got by Mixon to the five board touchdown Bengals, Mixon
- 4:41Speaker 1: flying over an attempt at tackle as he makes it
- 4:44Speaker 1: to the end zone to potentially tie the game. Randy
- 4:48Speaker 1: Bullock did tie it with a pat but Jacksonville was
- 4:50Speaker 1: able to drive seventy three yards in fifty three seconds
- 4:54Speaker 1: with no timeouts remaining, and kicked the field goal to
- 4:57Speaker 1: lead thirteen ten. At the half, the Bengals were down
- 5:00Speaker 1: by three, but confident. According to Joe Burrow, you know,
- 5:04Speaker 1: we knew that if we executed the way that we're
- 5:06Speaker 1: capable of, then they weren't gonna be able to stop us.
- 5:09Speaker 1: And you know, we just kept that mindset and we
- 5:12Speaker 1: talked about it at halftime. We were the only ones
- 5:15Speaker 1: that had stopped ourselves all day, So we came out
- 5:17Speaker 1: on the second half and performed the way that we
- 5:19Speaker 1: were supposed to. The first drive of the second half
- 5:21Speaker 1: when seventy five yards on just five plays first and
- 5:25Speaker 1: ten at the thirty four yard line for Burrow and company,
- 5:28Speaker 1: Joe's under center takes the direct snap from Hopkins hands
- 5:31Speaker 1: it off to Mixing, big time, hold to the right,
- 5:33Speaker 1: twenty five sideline, twenty fifty, Yeah to the pilot, touchdown,
- 5:40Speaker 1: big goals. That thirty four yard run was Joe Mixon's
- 5:44Speaker 1: first rushing touchdown of the year. Alex Redman, who got
- 5:47Speaker 1: his first start of the year at right guard, enjoyed
- 5:50Speaker 1: the view. I mean it was awesome. Joe played his
- 5:52Speaker 1: heart out today. I think Joe plays its smart out
- 5:54Speaker 1: every every single game. You hand that guy the ball
- 5:56Speaker 1: and he's scratching, you know, every in she could get,
- 5:59Speaker 1: he's gonna get. So playing with Joe, playing with you know,
- 6:02Speaker 1: Joey Burrow, guys like that, I mean, I tell this
- 6:04Speaker 1: scene could be a real good and Mixon wasn't finished,
- 6:06Speaker 1: as he scored again roughly four minutes later. Now Burrow
- 6:10Speaker 1: will line up in the shotgun, even though it's third
- 6:12Speaker 1: and less than a yard, He'll hand it to Mixing
- 6:14Speaker 1: Mixon bursting to the end the five touchdown, Joe Mixon
- 6:21Speaker 1: and the Bengals hits third of the day. I'll tell
- 6:24Speaker 1: you what, two rushing touchdowns, one touchdown receiving Joe Mixon
- 6:28Speaker 1: coming in with no touchdowns on the year, not even
- 6:32Speaker 1: halfway through the third quarter. He's got three today. Mixon
- 6:35Speaker 1: finished with twenty six carries for one hundred and fifty
- 6:38Speaker 1: one yards and two touchdowns, and had six catches for
- 6:41Speaker 1: thirty yards and another TD. All of that after being
- 6:46Speaker 1: listed is questionable because of a chest injury, and he's
- 6:49Speaker 1: not even sure how it happened. I don't know. I
- 6:51Speaker 1: think I'll slipp wrong. I was slipp wrong. Came to
- 6:55Speaker 1: work and then I don't know, it was like I
- 6:59Speaker 1: couldn't breathe heard to run, like I walked through and
- 7:01Speaker 1: then I ended up going to the hospital. I was
- 7:05Speaker 1: in the hospital for about like three hours yesterday, late
- 7:09Speaker 1: last night. So, like I said, I didn't know if
- 7:11Speaker 1: I played and then this morning and see how I felt,
- 7:14Speaker 1: and you know, doctors loved up on it, and I
- 7:18Speaker 1: was able to go out there and make some things work.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Could you not breathe or did you have a pulled
- 7:22Speaker 1: chest or did you pull so I just I don't know.
- 7:24Speaker 1: It just seemed like someone was squeezing. I don't know
- 7:26Speaker 1: what it was. But I mean I felt great today
- 7:30Speaker 1: out there running. I mean, at first, it was like
- 7:33Speaker 1: I don't know how it's gonna be, you know, I
- 7:35Speaker 1: went out there and just gave him all man for
- 7:38Speaker 1: my teammates, and like I said, everything was up in
- 7:40Speaker 1: the air, but you know made it happen and it
- 7:43Speaker 1: wasn't Jess Mixing. The Bengals finished with two hundred five
- 7:47Speaker 1: yards on the ground, more than doubling the average of
- 7:50Speaker 1: seventy nine rushing yards in the first three weeks. Same
- 7:53Speaker 1: places we've been running. You know, It's just guys were
- 7:55Speaker 1: really dialed in this week to the details and we
- 7:57Speaker 1: almost went overboard with that stuff to make sure that
- 8:00Speaker 1: we sent that message to our guys that it's going
- 8:02Speaker 1: to take all of it. It's not just the old line,
- 8:04Speaker 1: it's not just the running back. It takes everybody. And
- 8:06Speaker 1: the guys really bought it in, had a tremendous week,
- 8:08Speaker 1: did a lot of extras on their own to help
- 8:11Speaker 1: prepare for this game, and this is what the payoff
- 8:13Speaker 1: looks like. In addition to the two hundred five rushing yards,
- 8:15Speaker 1: Joe Burrow had exactly three hundred passing yards to become
- 8:19Speaker 1: the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw for
- 8:22Speaker 1: at least three bills in three straight games for the
- 8:26Speaker 1: first time in his career. Burrow wasn't sacked, although the
- 8:29Speaker 1: Jags were credited with five quarterback hits. You know, the
- 8:32Speaker 1: old line played really, really well today. They've taken a
- 8:35Speaker 1: lot of heat the last couple of weeks, and you know,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I was super happy for those guys to have the
- 8:39Speaker 1: game that they did today, and they're going to continue
- 8:41Speaker 1: to build on it. I know they are. Thought the
- 8:43Speaker 1: offense wanted a tremendous job today. You know, they kept
- 8:45Speaker 1: him clean. They had some great blocks in the run game,
- 8:48Speaker 1: tight ends as well, receivers as well, just all the
- 8:50Speaker 1: things that we talked about correcting last week coming off
- 8:53Speaker 1: the field against Philly. I thought our guys were so
- 8:55Speaker 1: dolled in this week as our best way practice we've
- 8:57Speaker 1: had in two years here. The energy was tremendous. Us
- 9:00Speaker 1: you guys took up to the field and made it count.
- 9:02Speaker 1: The Bengals final three drives ended with Randy Bullock field goals,
- 9:06Speaker 1: meaning if you take away kneel downs at the end
- 9:08Speaker 1: of each half, Cincinnati scored on its last six drives.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Hubert extends the right hand, catches the ball, puts it down.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Randy Bullocks kick is good, and the Bengals have a
- 9:19Speaker 1: thirty three to twenty two lead with one forty six
- 9:22Speaker 1: to go. A Jacksonville field goal made it an eight
- 9:25Speaker 1: point game. With eight seconds on the clock, Cook ready
- 9:28Speaker 1: to attempt the on side kick. It's the roller straight ahead.
- 9:32Speaker 1: The Bengals fall on it at the forty five yard line.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Giovanni Bernard is there and that is coffin nails bam.
- 9:42Speaker 1: The final score Cincinnati thirty three, Jacksonville twenty five. Here's
- 9:46Speaker 1: Jesse Bates on win number one. It just feels really good.
- 9:50Speaker 1: I mean, we spent a lot of time away from
- 9:52Speaker 1: our families. You know, you put a lot of stuff
- 9:54Speaker 1: into this. You know, our bodies don't feel good after
- 9:57Speaker 1: some games. But you know when you're and it's not,
- 10:00Speaker 1: it's not worth it. It seems like it's like dawmn,
- 10:03Speaker 1: like we need to win. You know, you play this
- 10:05Speaker 1: game to win, um and you know, to support your family.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Uh So, you know, having that first win in the
- 10:11Speaker 1: locker room, I think it helps our belief capacity continue
- 10:13Speaker 1: to go up and we're gonna build on that. Do
- 10:16Speaker 1: you feel like this was a game y'all had to win?
- 10:18Speaker 1: Was just feel like a must win game for y'all.
- 10:20Speaker 1: Giving the start and win kind of what's to come
- 10:21Speaker 1: to season? I think every game, I mean there's a
- 10:24Speaker 1: must win. Uh, but yeah, this one, I mean, we
- 10:27Speaker 1: we've been so close. Every game has been in one position,
- 10:30Speaker 1: one possession game. Um. And Josh Bonds had a hell
- 10:33Speaker 1: of a speech last night about adversity. Um. You know
- 10:37Speaker 1: you speak about you know Randy uh, mister field goal
- 10:40Speaker 1: to going over time week one came back. I mean
- 10:42Speaker 1: he's probably four for tonight. Um. Our old line played
- 10:45Speaker 1: a hell of a game. Um. You know, our defense,
- 10:47Speaker 1: we have to continue to be consistent. Um. So yeah,
- 10:50Speaker 1: I mean all around, as a whole organization, we're getting better.
- 10:54Speaker 1: So I feel really good. As for Joe Burrow, he
- 10:56Speaker 1: received the game ball after his first that FL victory.
- 10:59Speaker 1: There's a lot of fun. It was a lot of fun,
- 11:02Speaker 1: but you know, it's one It's one game. There's twelve more.
- 11:07Speaker 1: So you know we're gonna enjoy this for five hours
- 11:10Speaker 1: and then come back to work tomorrow, correct the mistakes
- 11:13Speaker 1: and move on to Baltimore. Burrow, by the way, was
- 11:15Speaker 1: wired for sound during the game by NFL Film, So
- 11:18Speaker 1: we'll have some great content to look forward to this
- 11:21Speaker 1: week on Bengals dot Com and on shows like Inside
- 11:24Speaker 1: the NFL and NFL turning point. Now time for some
- 11:28Speaker 1: postgame analysis from my broadcast partner Dave lapham Lap. How
- 11:33Speaker 1: sweet it is the Bengals get their first win of
- 11:35Speaker 1: the year thirty three to twenty five over Jacksonville. And
- 11:39Speaker 1: let's give credit where credit is due. The Bengals offensive
- 11:42Speaker 1: line has been mocked. They have been ripped from coast
- 11:46Speaker 1: to coast. Well today, three hundred passing yards, two hundred
- 11:50Speaker 1: and five rushing yards, and thirty three points on the scoreboard.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Very true, and hats off to them. They did a
- 11:57Speaker 1: hell of a job. But as a form alignment, you know,
- 12:01Speaker 1: my thing was this is the test because played against
- 12:03Speaker 1: some pretty good defensive lines and they have had their
- 12:06Speaker 1: issues and they've gotten crushed as a result because they
- 12:09Speaker 1: haven't won a lot of the matchups. Well, this was,
- 12:12Speaker 1: in my mind the test because these guys were lesser.
- 12:15Speaker 1: So if you can't perform well against these guys, where
- 12:17Speaker 1: the heck are you? And then when Josh Allen went out,
- 12:20Speaker 1: you know they were even lesser than that. So I'm
- 12:23Speaker 1: I'm proud if I played in this game. I'm proud
- 12:26Speaker 1: as a former offensive linement. I'm proud of the way
- 12:27Speaker 1: they've played. But the reality says, here we go now
- 12:32Speaker 1: to Baltimore, back in the from the frying pan, from
- 12:34Speaker 1: the fire, right into the from the frying pan, right
- 12:36Speaker 1: into the fire. I should say, you know, you're back
- 12:39Speaker 1: at Baltimore. Indianapolis has a good defense. The NFL is
- 12:42Speaker 1: the NFL. It's tough, and I'm not saying Jacksonville's a
- 12:45Speaker 1: bunch of scrubs, but I am saying that they did
- 12:47Speaker 1: not have the front seven that the Bengals had been
- 12:50Speaker 1: playing against. You know, with the Chargers, they're they're good upfront.
- 12:53Speaker 1: They have multiple Pro bowlers up front. You know, Cleveland's
- 12:56Speaker 1: got a good rush with Miles Garrett and Philadelphia's good player.
- 13:00Speaker 1: These guys didn't have anybody like that and other guys
- 13:03Speaker 1: to complement it. So it was hopeful of a good
- 13:07Speaker 1: performance and got better than a good performance, got an
- 13:09Speaker 1: outstanding performance from the offensive line. You know, you throw
- 13:12Speaker 1: it for three hundred, rusher for over two hundred, and
- 13:15Speaker 1: you're real balance in your play selection. Balance the key,
- 13:17Speaker 1: I mean, instead of one dimensional. They allowed you know, Zach,
- 13:22Speaker 1: as a play caller said during the game, you can
- 13:24Speaker 1: close your eyes and just like pin the tail and
- 13:26Speaker 1: donkey and wow, let's call that one. I mean, it's
- 13:28Speaker 1: like they're so easy to call plays when your offensive
- 13:31Speaker 1: line is playing like that. Plus the other thing we
- 13:35Speaker 1: talked about multiple times Dan during the week and during
- 13:37Speaker 1: the game play action pass. Instead of just teeing off
- 13:39Speaker 1: and not having any respect for the run fake in
- 13:42Speaker 1: the play action pass, they actually had to legitimately say
- 13:45Speaker 1: WHOA does he have the ball or not. It's much
- 13:47Speaker 1: easier to throw the football when it's play action passed.
- 13:50Speaker 1: The pass protection light year is different, and then even
- 13:52Speaker 1: drop back protection becomes easier as well. It's trickled down.
- 13:55Speaker 1: That's very, very positive. We did an interview on Friday
- 13:58Speaker 1: with former Bengals quarterback j. T. O'Sullivan and we discussed
- 14:02Speaker 1: the number of hits and sacks that Joe Burrow had
- 14:04Speaker 1: taken through the first three games. Fourteen sacks, roughly thirty
- 14:07Speaker 1: quarterback hits. He said his words, that is unsustainable. Well,
- 14:13Speaker 1: vastly different today, and yes, you're right, the quality of
- 14:16Speaker 1: opponent's a huge factor. But no sacks and I believe
- 14:19Speaker 1: three quarterback hits. Maybe it was four, but that's okay.
- 14:23Speaker 1: That is sustainable. That is sustainable. And I think one
- 14:26Speaker 1: of the hits came out of pocket, you know, when
- 14:28Speaker 1: he created and extended on his own. So when you
- 14:30Speaker 1: do that, you are on your own. There's nothing the
- 14:32Speaker 1: offensive line can do for you there. So they he
- 14:35Speaker 1: got hit a couple of times when the offensive line
- 14:37Speaker 1: quote you know, it was their responsibility as such. Yeah, so,
- 14:41Speaker 1: I mean the level of execution once they once they
- 14:44Speaker 1: got out of their own way, I mean, it was
- 14:46Speaker 1: so frustrating. The first quarter and a half. It was
- 14:48Speaker 1: like they had well over five hundred yards and probably
- 14:52Speaker 1: should have had fifty points or close to it, in
- 14:55Speaker 1: the high forties anyway, and you know, didn't come close
- 14:58Speaker 1: to that number because they were making mistakes, taking touchdowns
- 15:01Speaker 1: off the board by penalty, by miss execution, you know,
- 15:05Speaker 1: not you know, sample not being able to catch the
- 15:07Speaker 1: ball cleanly, ricochets off his face mask and Miles Jack's
- 15:10Speaker 1: able to make a playoff of it. So they knew,
- 15:13Speaker 1: they knew that they could, you know, push around this
- 15:16Speaker 1: Jacksonville Jaguar defense. It was just a matter of taking
- 15:18Speaker 1: themselves off their schedule. Like we said so many times,
- 15:21Speaker 1: if that's what Joe Mixon looks like with a chest injury,
- 15:25Speaker 1: maybe we need to hit him in the chest before
- 15:26Speaker 1: every game. What a weird situation. He wasn't on the
- 15:29Speaker 1: injury report on Friday, and after the game we learned
- 15:32Speaker 1: out why. We learned why. He said he thinks he
- 15:35Speaker 1: heard it sleeping. I mean that's what he said in
- 15:37Speaker 1: the postgame news conference. Actually had to go to the
- 15:40Speaker 1: hospital for tests to his chest on Saturday, but was
- 15:46Speaker 1: able to play and played incredibly well. Twenty five carries,
- 15:49Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty one yards. That's his second all
- 15:52Speaker 1: time highest rushing total, six catches thirty yards, including a touchdown,
- 15:57Speaker 1: three tds and all so out of kind of are
- 16:00Speaker 1: set of circumstances, he produced big time. I don't know
- 16:04Speaker 1: the position it was in when he was sleeping. I mean,
- 16:07Speaker 1: I've had my arm fall asleep. I've had different things
- 16:09Speaker 1: like that happened, but yeah, store neck, maybe my shoulder
- 16:13Speaker 1: a little. I've never woken up with like, you know,
- 16:15Speaker 1: some sort of a he felt like, he said he
- 16:17Speaker 1: couldn't felt like he couldn't breathe easily. So he must
- 16:20Speaker 1: have fallen asleep and a scrunched up, awkward, awkward position.
- 16:23Speaker 1: But you know, fortunately there was no structural problem. They
- 16:26Speaker 1: wanted to obviously, what they did was, and Paul Sparling
- 16:30Speaker 1: is noted for this. Paul Sparling errors on the side
- 16:33Speaker 1: of caution. I mean, if there's any if a player
- 16:36Speaker 1: says I'm having difficulty breathing, you go right, particularly a coronavirus.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You come into a trainer and you say I'm having
- 16:43Speaker 1: a tough time breathing and I might have slept funny,
- 16:46Speaker 1: you don't take any chances. I guess with coronavirus you'd
- 16:48Speaker 1: taken to the hospital and run some tests and make
- 16:50Speaker 1: sure that everything's okay. So I think part of it is,
- 16:53Speaker 1: you know, the times that we're in it's it's different
- 16:56Speaker 1: in a lot of ways. And if I'm a player
- 16:58Speaker 1: and you sleep right, you do wait up and it's
- 17:00Speaker 1: like having a hard time breathing. I mean that that
- 17:03Speaker 1: can you know, play with your mind a little bit,
- 17:05Speaker 1: I guess, But ultimately, you know he was fine as
- 17:08Speaker 1: we saw. I mean he was delivering, he wasn't accepting hits,
- 17:11Speaker 1: he was ditching them out. I mean, he was lowering
- 17:13Speaker 1: his squaring his pads up, lowering him running over people.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I mean that was Joe Mixon in his finest. The
- 17:19Speaker 1: offensive line more times than not allow him to make
- 17:21Speaker 1: first cut down the football field, he caught the ball smoothly,
- 17:24Speaker 1: caught the ball in stride yards after catch. You know,
- 17:27Speaker 1: he scores in the air, scores on the ground more
- 17:30Speaker 1: than once. Blitz pick up was sound. He was, you know,
- 17:33Speaker 1: crushing people in that area. Blitz peck of Joe Mixon
- 17:36Speaker 1: played a complete football game and maybe he needs to
- 17:39Speaker 1: sleep awkwardly before the Baltimore game. In Baltimore, it's really
- 17:44Speaker 1: hard to evaluate an individual offensive lineman until you go
- 17:48Speaker 1: back and study the tape. But obviously Alex Redman makes
- 17:50Speaker 1: his first started right guard after some really shaky play
- 17:54Speaker 1: over the last couple of weeks by Fred Johnson and
- 17:56Speaker 1: Billy Price. And without looking at him specifically, you look
- 18:00Speaker 1: at the overall numbers at five hundred plush yards in
- 18:02Speaker 1: thirty three points and figure, all right, maybe he wasn't great,
- 18:06Speaker 1: but it was certainly an improvement. Yeah, and again now
- 18:10Speaker 1: you have to go Apple's top apples. Who was he
- 18:12Speaker 1: playing against? And because and I liked his answer in
- 18:16Speaker 1: the presser after the game, I asked him how tod
- 18:19Speaker 1: it go? Not very good? He was self deprecating, and
- 18:23Speaker 1: I like that because you know he knows he has
- 18:25Speaker 1: miles to go before he rests. He knows he's not
- 18:28Speaker 1: a finished product right now, but what he gives them
- 18:30Speaker 1: is a physicality he you know, he had a connection
- 18:33Speaker 1: obviously with Tray and Bobby, like I thought would be
- 18:35Speaker 1: the case. You know, it wasn't a foreign situation out there.
- 18:38Speaker 1: They weren't looking at each other like what are we
- 18:40Speaker 1: gonna do when this twist happens or when this linebacker
- 18:42Speaker 1: blitz or whatever. They had all of that and Tray
- 18:46Speaker 1: and Bobby, who were both very intelligent. They know the play,
- 18:49Speaker 1: they know the structure of the play. They know everybody's
- 18:51Speaker 1: assignment on every play, not just theirs. Alex Redman felt
- 18:55Speaker 1: like I'm between two football men'ses. I got no issue
- 18:58Speaker 1: with my assignments. I just identifying defenses and everything else.
- 19:02Speaker 1: And that's a very very comforting feeling to a guy
- 19:05Speaker 1: that missed all a training camp, you know, because of injury.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So physically where was he he You know, he knows
- 19:11Speaker 1: he still has to work on that. Mentally, he had
- 19:14Speaker 1: those guys, those book ends on either side of him
- 19:16Speaker 1: taking care of any questions, any concerns there. So all positive,
- 19:20Speaker 1: but man, when he goes to Baltimore, a little bit
- 19:22Speaker 1: different inside than what he faced today, for sure. Any
- 19:26Speaker 1: thoughts on throwing to Drew sample in the back left
- 19:29Speaker 1: corner of the end zone on third and inches are
- 19:32Speaker 1: third in goal from inches away, Yeah, I mean I was.
- 19:35Speaker 1: They were hammering Joe and they're pretty good at that point.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I would have gone up and over with him, you know,
- 19:39Speaker 1: and you know, if I didn't get it, I'd do
- 19:41Speaker 1: it again on fourth down. But you know, the play
- 19:44Speaker 1: was there. I mean, Joe threw a good ball. Drew
- 19:48Speaker 1: just didn't see it fast enough. It Hitn't right in
- 19:51Speaker 1: the face mask and ricketchhet off that and then it
- 19:53Speaker 1: was you know, moving around. They felt like he never
- 19:55Speaker 1: had a secure possession of the ball. Miles Jack took
- 19:58Speaker 1: it away from him when he was totally secure with it.
- 20:01Speaker 1: So there was no you know, shared possession of the football,
- 20:05Speaker 1: and that's what you have to have for it to
- 20:06Speaker 1: be a defensive offensive touchdown is simultaneous possession of the football,
- 20:11Speaker 1: and in their opinion, because of the ricochet effect, there wasn't.
- 20:14Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean I would hindsight's always twenty twenty,
- 20:20Speaker 1: but I were to run the rock at that point
- 20:22Speaker 1: in time, for sure, you were first guessing that calling
- 20:26Speaker 1: that second. Guessing that call, the Bengals held Jacksonville to
- 20:29Speaker 1: eighty nine rushing yards. Now is only twenty attempts, so
- 20:32Speaker 1: that's still four and a half yards per attempt, But
- 20:35Speaker 1: that's about one hundred fewer rushing yards than the Bengals
- 20:38Speaker 1: had averaged on defense going into the game. It's nice
- 20:41Speaker 1: to have a lead where the opponent is forced to
- 20:43Speaker 1: put it in the air. You're exactly right, Dan. It's
- 20:46Speaker 1: also nice to eliminate a forty one yard rush with
- 20:48Speaker 1: a holding penalty so they self DESTRUCTI because now you
- 20:51Speaker 1: look at one hundred and thirty yards rushing and it's
- 20:53Speaker 1: a much different dynamic. You have running back well over
- 20:55Speaker 1: a hundred yards rushing and it's like, oh jeez, I
- 20:57Speaker 1: still can't stop the run. One hundred and thirty plus
- 21:00Speaker 1: n back a little guy gets you know, over a
- 21:01Speaker 1: hundred Offensive Player of the month. So one play, one
- 21:05Speaker 1: holding penalty gets the run game off the hook. So
- 21:09Speaker 1: what you have to do is you have to study
- 21:10Speaker 1: the tape when you win or loose. Study the tape.
- 21:13Speaker 1: All right, what happened in that play? Why did it
- 21:14Speaker 1: bust for forty one? Okay? How significant was the hole?
- 21:17Speaker 1: The hold was a big deal at the point of
- 21:19Speaker 1: attack and all ba blah blah blah. But still you
- 21:21Speaker 1: have to you know, hit your gaps, fit them, get
- 21:23Speaker 1: off the blocks, make plays. So even when you win
- 21:26Speaker 1: football games, you still have to evaluate the tape with
- 21:30Speaker 1: the utmost critical eye because you're trying to improve each
- 21:33Speaker 1: and every game. A couple of things I'm looking forward
- 21:36Speaker 1: to hearing this week. Number one, I want more details
- 21:39Speaker 1: on the Josh Bynes Saturday night's speech that apparently really
- 21:43Speaker 1: helped motivate his teammates. Jesse Bates made a point of
- 21:46Speaker 1: talking about what a great job Josh Bynes did in
- 21:49Speaker 1: some sort of team meeting on Saturday. You know, in
- 21:52Speaker 1: my mind, it's almost like a Rocky speech. Instead of
- 21:55Speaker 1: a Rocky movie, you show a team to motivate him,
- 21:57Speaker 1: it's a Rocky speech. Up gets a guy that it
- 22:00Speaker 1: was a good college program won a national championship. And
- 22:03Speaker 1: I'm undrafted on a national championship. I'm undrafted. I you know,
- 22:07Speaker 1: I go to the NFL and you know, and scratch
- 22:09Speaker 1: and claw and make a team and hang around and gosh,
- 22:12Speaker 1: I'm on a Super Bowl winning team and I'm bouncing around.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I get cut, you know, half a dozen times, and
- 22:17Speaker 1: I still want to continue in my career. And here
- 22:19Speaker 1: I am a college free agent in my tenth year
- 22:21Speaker 1: in the National Football League. And so he's like a
- 22:23Speaker 1: built in Rocky Balboa story that you can present to
- 22:27Speaker 1: your team and living color, you know, instead of throwing
- 22:29Speaker 1: on a movie. And I think I think it had
- 22:32Speaker 1: a big effect on a lot of guys. I mean,
- 22:34Speaker 1: this story is a good one. And he's a great speaker,
- 22:36Speaker 1: and he's a great guy. Great speaker, great guy. Yeah,
- 22:39Speaker 1: he's he's the real deal. You know, he'll he'll make plays,
- 22:43Speaker 1: who makes the mistakes. His value in that linebacker room
- 22:46Speaker 1: with all those young linebackers, who that's a big, big
- 22:50Speaker 1: plus because you have a guy that does it the
- 22:52Speaker 1: right way, knows what it's supposed to look like. All
- 22:55Speaker 1: the young linebackers think of him as football and CycL
- 22:58Speaker 1: Encyclopedia Britannic. He has an answer for everything. I mean,
- 23:02Speaker 1: he's got a lot of value and a lot of
- 23:04Speaker 1: intangible value. The other a big thing I'm looking forward
- 23:08Speaker 1: to hearing this week. Joe Burrow is Wired for Sound
- 23:11Speaker 1: Today by NFL Films, so on Inside the NFL on
- 23:15Speaker 1: Showtime on the NFL Turning Point Show on sound FX
- 23:19Speaker 1: and the Bengals website will be getting all of this
- 23:21Speaker 1: great content. We're going to hear what he was saying
- 23:23Speaker 1: on the sideline, what he was saying in the huddle.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I love the job that NFL Films does with that,
- 23:28Speaker 1: and it's going to be really cool to hear Joe
- 23:30Speaker 1: Burrow miked up in his first NFL win. I agree.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I bet if there's going to be some nuggets, some
- 23:36Speaker 1: great stuff, and we'll find out what he actually said
- 23:39Speaker 1: to Joe Mixon when he broke the huddle before he
- 23:40Speaker 1: threw that little sweet pass, because I want to leave
- 23:42Speaker 1: that in the field. Hey, NFL Films has it wired.
- 23:45Speaker 1: It might not be left on the field, But I
- 23:48Speaker 1: think what we're gonna find is this young guy does
- 23:52Speaker 1: have a lot of football IQ man. He sees a lot,
- 23:54Speaker 1: he understands a lot. You know, he's telling he's telling
- 23:58Speaker 1: his teammates things that you know, like a five year
- 24:01Speaker 1: of veteran, you know, would be telling his teammates, not
- 24:03Speaker 1: a rookie in his you know, in his fourth game,
- 24:06Speaker 1: talking about a guy that should be Vessel already for
- 24:08Speaker 1: retirement in the National Football League. The things that he's
- 24:11Speaker 1: talking about and the things that he sees. He has
- 24:14Speaker 1: an exceedingly bright future. There's no question. Four games into
- 24:18Speaker 1: the season, the Bengals have gone to the fourth quarter
- 24:20Speaker 1: with the lead three times in four games. They could
- 24:23Speaker 1: very easily be three in one. What can you do?
- 24:26Speaker 1: They're one, two and one, and now it's about to
- 24:30Speaker 1: get really tough. You mentioned at Baltimore next week, then
- 24:33Speaker 1: at Indy, then Cleveland the Browns are playing great. Then Tennessee,
- 24:37Speaker 1: a team that went to the AFC Championship Game a
- 24:40Speaker 1: year ago, after a bye week, a road game at Pittsburgh.
- 24:43Speaker 1: So the next five are going to be brutal, going
- 24:45Speaker 1: to be brutal, and three division matchups in the next five,
- 24:49Speaker 1: you know, I mean, and you've already lost a division game,
- 24:53Speaker 1: so it's time to really buckle up. You don't want to.
- 24:56Speaker 1: You don't want to be, you know, out of it
- 24:58Speaker 1: before just before between Halloween and Thanksgiving. You don't want
- 25:02Speaker 1: to be out of it in terms of the division.
- 25:04Speaker 1: With four or five division games in the books and
- 25:06Speaker 1: you haven't won one of them, and you're struggling, you know,
- 25:10Speaker 1: with just one victory. You want to you want to
- 25:12Speaker 1: build on this. You don't want it to be a
- 25:14Speaker 1: one hit wonder. You want to you want to be
- 25:16Speaker 1: a snoop foul for people down the road, and um,
- 25:19Speaker 1: hopefully they'll they'll play. They still have not played a game,
- 25:24Speaker 1: Dan where all three phases have totally been complimentary and
- 25:27Speaker 1: they've avoided mistakes, avoided, penalties avoided. You know, battists, every everybody,
- 25:32Speaker 1: every team is going to have a play that's not
- 25:34Speaker 1: executed correctly. And that's that's that's understandable. They get paid too.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I mean they make plays and all that, but the penalties,
- 25:41Speaker 1: you know that, the assigned mistakes, all that that stuff.
- 25:43Speaker 1: You can't have a myriad of those. You know, you can,
- 25:47Speaker 1: you can maybe live with less than a handful, but
- 25:50Speaker 1: if you're into your second handful, you got problems. I
- 25:53Speaker 1: will wrap up this conversation with two words, coffin nails.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Bam bam, I am. So it's on to Baltimore next Sunday.
- 26:03Speaker 1: The Ravens are three and one after beating Washington thirty
- 26:06Speaker 1: one seventeen. Lamar Jackson threw for two touchdowns and ran
- 26:10Speaker 1: for a third in the win. Now time for this
- 26:13Speaker 1: week's fun facts segment. I've been doing this segment since
- 26:16Speaker 1: two eleven and this week's version is one of my
- 26:20Speaker 1: all time favorites as you get to know the person
- 26:24Speaker 1: under the pads. Time for some fun facts of Bengals
- 26:27Speaker 1: defensive tackle Mike Daniels, who has been making life miserable
- 26:31Speaker 1: or NFL offensive lineman since two and twelve. Mike, if
- 26:36Speaker 1: I were an old lineman, I think you would be
- 26:38Speaker 1: the last person in the league I would want to face.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Describe yourself on game day. No, I'm really mean? Why? Frankly, No,
- 26:45Speaker 1: I mean and focused and I'll just try to play
- 26:48Speaker 1: the game as physical and as violent as I possibly
- 26:51Speaker 1: can while maintaining my defensive responsibility. Are you trying to
- 26:56Speaker 1: demoralize the guy on the opposite side of the line. Absolutely,
- 27:00Speaker 1: And if it happens, and that's just a bonus, that's
- 27:02Speaker 1: just my mentality when I when I step onto the
- 27:04Speaker 1: football field, completely different person from who I am, you
- 27:08Speaker 1: know in everyday life. When I step on the field,
- 27:11Speaker 1: to say, it's a certain mentality that I have to
- 27:14Speaker 1: approach the game with. We're doing fun facts with Mike Daniels.
- 27:17Speaker 1: NFL films must love you because you are tremendous When
- 27:21Speaker 1: you are miked up, do you turn it up a
- 27:23Speaker 1: notch when you're wearing a mic, or do you talk
- 27:26Speaker 1: NonStop regardless? I actually tone it down when I'm wearing
- 27:29Speaker 1: a mic. That way, the sensors and the network they
- 27:33Speaker 1: don't have too much work to do. But when I
- 27:35Speaker 1: wear a mic, I'm aware I have a micro on,
- 27:37Speaker 1: so I kind of tone it down a little bit.
- 27:39Speaker 1: If anything. Do you enjoy watching those segments back after
- 27:43Speaker 1: you've been miked up? I definitely have a lot of
- 27:45Speaker 1: fun with it because it's nice to see what other
- 27:48Speaker 1: people see. And I think it's I phone with it,
- 27:53Speaker 1: you know, and I phone when I watch any guy
- 27:54Speaker 1: who who's playing a game, you know, with that amount
- 27:59Speaker 1: of passion that they can't help but express it verbally
- 28:03Speaker 1: beginning during and after the game. We're talking to Mike Daniels.
- 28:07Speaker 1: The last line of your Wikipedia page mentioned your interest
- 28:11Speaker 1: in the Japanese cartoon genre anime, and I thought to myself,
- 28:15Speaker 1: that's cute. Three hundred pounds NFL tough guy likes cartoons.
- 28:19Speaker 1: But then I watched a twelve minute documentary He Was Anime,
- 28:23Speaker 1: where you and your parents describe the impact that that
- 28:26Speaker 1: art form has had on your life. What did anime
- 28:30Speaker 1: do for a teenage Mike Daniels. It definitely helped me
- 28:34Speaker 1: be comfortable with who I am. I didn't necessarily fit
- 28:36Speaker 1: in with a lot of my peers growing up, so
- 28:40Speaker 1: watching a lot of the protagonists in the various shown
- 28:43Speaker 1: in anime, in particular, they always had to overcome obstacles
- 28:48Speaker 1: to achieve a very significant goal, and for me, it
- 28:52Speaker 1: was to be a start on my high school football team,
- 28:55Speaker 1: then get a Division one scholarship, then be a starter
- 28:57Speaker 1: on my Colo team iwa then get drafted, then become
- 29:02Speaker 1: a starter, then go to the Pro Bowl, and now
- 29:04Speaker 1: it's get back on the field and show that I'm
- 29:06Speaker 1: still a really, really great football player. So I definitely
- 29:10Speaker 1: can relate to the protagonists, and that's I was able
- 29:14Speaker 1: to relate to them from the time I was eleven
- 29:16Speaker 1: up until now. You have referred to yourself as a
- 29:19Speaker 1: dork with muscles. Is there a message there to do
- 29:23Speaker 1: your own thing? Absolutely? You have to be comfortable on
- 29:26Speaker 1: who you are. You have to be comfortable in the
- 29:28Speaker 1: person that God made you. You have to love that,
- 29:30Speaker 1: and you can't let people make you feel bad or
- 29:33Speaker 1: feel embarrassed because you may not just want to go
- 29:37Speaker 1: with the crowd because the same people that are that
- 29:39Speaker 1: are having fun at your expense, so to speak. If anything,
- 29:43Speaker 1: they're jealous because they're not comfortable on who they are
- 29:46Speaker 1: and they just want to fit in so badly, so
- 29:49Speaker 1: they'll do that instead of pursuing what they truly love
- 29:51Speaker 1: in life. And when you don't pursue what you love
- 29:54Speaker 1: in life, you miss out. You miss out. You might
- 29:56Speaker 1: be a great artist, you might be great at music,
- 29:58Speaker 1: you might be a great sanitation expert. Who knows. But
- 30:02Speaker 1: when you're trying to visit the two as you trying
- 30:04Speaker 1: to fit in with what's popular, what was happening with
- 30:07Speaker 1: the crowd is doing, then you'll never be able to
- 30:09Speaker 1: achieve what you really want in life. And that's just
- 30:11Speaker 1: that's just unfortunate. So be yourself for Drink Fund Faction
- 30:14Speaker 1: with Mike Daniels. You're from Blackwood, New Jersey, not too
- 30:17Speaker 1: far from Philadelphia, and describe where you grew up. Where
- 30:20Speaker 1: I grew up is right outside of Philadelphia, So that
- 30:23Speaker 1: Philadelphia area is definitely a I mean Phillys of sports
- 30:26Speaker 1: town all the way. All of these stadiums are right
- 30:30Speaker 1: near each other for all the for professional sports teams,
- 30:33Speaker 1: So it's a really good sports area. So sports was
- 30:36Speaker 1: going to become part of my life where I wanted
- 30:37Speaker 1: to wanted it to be or not, and thank god
- 30:40Speaker 1: I did wanted to be because they love football out there, track, wrestling, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, basketball,
- 30:47Speaker 1: of course, you name it soccer like it's it's a field,
- 30:51Speaker 1: hockey gotta lead boxing week. It doesn't matter, man, we
- 30:55Speaker 1: are a sports that that area, that South Jersey Philly
- 30:59Speaker 1: area is definitely a sports hub man, and you feel
- 31:03Speaker 1: it when the Eagles are doing well, you feel when
- 31:05Speaker 1: they're doing bad. Same applies for the Flyers, the Sixers,
- 31:09Speaker 1: and the Phillies even as far as the arena lead
- 31:12Speaker 1: with the Philadelphia soul. You know, the the area definitely
- 31:15Speaker 1: embraces its sports and it's extremely competitive. People talk about Florida, Texas, California, Ohio,
- 31:22Speaker 1: New Jersey, especially at South Jersey area is extremely competitive
- 31:25Speaker 1: with sports, extremely competitive from the time guys are kids
- 31:28Speaker 1: up until they're adults. They're obviously college football programs that
- 31:32Speaker 1: are too far away, including Penn State and Rutgers. But
- 31:35Speaker 1: you chose to go to Iowa. How did you wind
- 31:38Speaker 1: up there and what were your first impressions of Iowa City,
- 31:41Speaker 1: Penn State, and Rutgers Temple. Nobody one of me Iowa
- 31:44Speaker 1: they did, so that's that's where I went. That was
- 31:46Speaker 1: my only scholarship. We have a We had a coach,
- 31:50Speaker 1: Daryl Wilson, who was from the South Jersey area, and
- 31:53Speaker 1: Iowa historically has always gotten some New Jersey guys from
- 31:58Speaker 1: the late seventies of until now. So you know, I
- 32:02Speaker 1: was kind of just fell in line with that one. Uh,
- 32:05Speaker 1: Iowa Cities is you know, it's it's a it's a
- 32:08Speaker 1: it's a football place. Man. They love the Hawk guys there. Man,
- 32:11Speaker 1: I'm so thankful that I was able to go to
- 32:13Speaker 1: college there and play football there in the University of Iowa.
- 32:17Speaker 1: They're blocking the streets off that the town is like
- 32:20Speaker 1: almost shut down except for the bars. Man. I mean,
- 32:22Speaker 1: it is a rocking atmosphere. I've played in some NFL
- 32:26Speaker 1: stadiums that did well, a few NFL stadiums actually that
- 32:30Speaker 1: didn't come close to having the same type of energy
- 32:33Speaker 1: that Kinneck Stadium holds on Saturdays. So I loved it there.
- 32:37Speaker 1: I definitely love playing football there. Speaking in places that
- 32:40Speaker 1: love football. You were drafted by the Packers and spent
- 32:43Speaker 1: your first eight years in Green Bay. What did you
- 32:45Speaker 1: enjoy most about playing there? Uh, it was very similar
- 32:48Speaker 1: to Iowa. I'm talking about streets getting blocked off on
- 32:51Speaker 1: game days. Uh, bars a pack man and it's just
- 32:56Speaker 1: a football town. And I definitely definitely with my time there.
- 33:00Speaker 1: I'm thankful that I was able to play there. And
- 33:03Speaker 1: everybody comes to play, you know, against the Green Bay.
- 33:07Speaker 1: They always say like the atmosphere is crazy. It's definitely crazy,
- 33:11Speaker 1: so it was really cool. One of the time honored traditions,
- 33:15Speaker 1: going back to Vince Lombardi, is to borrow little kids
- 33:18Speaker 1: bikes to get from Lambeau Field to the practice field
- 33:21Speaker 1: during training camp. Did you enjoy it and at your size,
- 33:25Speaker 1: were you ever worried about damaging a kid's bike. So
- 33:29Speaker 1: my rookie year, I actually broke a kid's bike, and
- 33:31Speaker 1: that was definitely something. I think I might have broke
- 33:35Speaker 1: another one in my fourth year. So I always made
- 33:38Speaker 1: sure I went to find a high school kid or
- 33:41Speaker 1: a middle school kid who had like a mountain bike
- 33:43Speaker 1: or something like that, because I kept riding little kids bikes. Unfortunately,
- 33:48Speaker 1: sometimes I made a little kids bike and help hold
- 33:51Speaker 1: the handlebar while while they rode their bike. But it
- 33:55Speaker 1: was definitely a really cool tradition and I'm glad they
- 33:57Speaker 1: do it in Green Bay. How did those little kids
- 33:59Speaker 1: react when you broke their bike? Oh? Man, they were honored.
- 34:03Speaker 1: They loved it. They man, the th was the coolest
- 34:07Speaker 1: thing in the world. I remember a few years later,
- 34:09Speaker 1: you know, he's a little bit older. He actually came
- 34:11Speaker 1: to an autograph sign and had a picture of me
- 34:12Speaker 1: carrying his bike, and I said, oh, yeah, this is great,
- 34:15Speaker 1: this this is really good. So they they they they
- 34:18Speaker 1: loved it. They really loved it. A few more fun
- 34:21Speaker 1: facts with Mike Daniels. You and your wife have been
- 34:23Speaker 1: extremely generous, Mike with your time and your money in
- 34:26Speaker 1: terms of giving back. Is there a cause that means
- 34:29Speaker 1: the most to you? I have a heart for um everybody,
- 34:33Speaker 1: you know, whatever calls we're getting in involved in, whether
- 34:35Speaker 1: it's a book bag drive, a women's shelter holding, the
- 34:38Speaker 1: camp for children, it's we're we're we're all for it.
- 34:42Speaker 1: And right now, one of the causes that I'm definitely
- 34:45Speaker 1: involved in his New Souls inc Incorporated, based out of
- 34:48Speaker 1: consulting in Camden, New Jersey right now. And what they
- 34:51Speaker 1: do is they do it. They do a right of things, Uh,
- 34:54Speaker 1: bringing Christmas gifts to um a lot of children who
- 34:59Speaker 1: are living in very financially underprivileged situations. They remember they
- 35:04Speaker 1: did an ice cream drive where they running out and
- 35:07Speaker 1: ice cream truck and just handed out free ice cream.
- 35:09Speaker 1: They do shoe drives, hence the name New Souls. They
- 35:12Speaker 1: do a sneaker drive, so I'm definitely involving them. They'll
- 35:16Speaker 1: be my calls my cleets form. I called my cleets
- 35:18Speaker 1: this football season, and I definitely love the work that
- 35:22Speaker 1: they're doing. Describe the significance of the date August third,
- 35:26Speaker 1: the significance of dad. August third is my first three
- 35:28Speaker 1: children were born on that date. It's definitely a very
- 35:33Speaker 1: exciting day in the Daniels household. And they're not triplets.
- 35:36Speaker 1: That's August third, three different years, three different years, No triplets,
- 35:40Speaker 1: no twins. All right. Final fun fact for Mike Daniels.
- 35:44Speaker 1: This is putting you on the spot. If you could
- 35:46Speaker 1: meet anybody in history, athlete, entertainer, statesman, who would that
- 35:53Speaker 1: person be. It's funny. It's probably had to be three comedians,
- 35:58Speaker 1: George Carlin, Dick Gregory and Simbad. I'd have to meet
- 36:02Speaker 1: those three guys. There's three comedians who definitely were definitely
- 36:06Speaker 1: very honest about the current state of affairs or whatever
- 36:10Speaker 1: is going on. So though, those are three people who
- 36:12Speaker 1: I would love to meet or have met. You love
- 36:16Speaker 1: comedy clubs. I've always been a pretty big stand up
- 36:20Speaker 1: comedian or a fan of stand up comedy. Brother, I
- 36:23Speaker 1: could see you doing it. Someday. You'll have to get
- 36:25Speaker 1: up on stage. Bill Tomatoes at me, man, I'm not
- 36:28Speaker 1: that's not that funny. You could put together a good
- 36:30Speaker 1: ten minute set. I appreciate your time. This has been fine.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Best of luck this year. Thanks very much. Have a
- 36:36Speaker 1: good day. How great is Mike Daniels. Here's hoping he
- 36:40Speaker 1: makes a speedy recovery from the elbow injury he suffered
- 36:43Speaker 1: at practice last week. The best case scenario is that
- 36:46Speaker 1: he's back in three weeks. Here's a quick reminder to
- 36:49Speaker 1: join Lap and Lance McAlister for Bengals Line Monday night
