- 10:04there, it's what the podcast is about, right?
- 10:06If you want something, you got to make something, and why I

- 10:20all of it, just You can listen to midgard musings.
- 10:24If you can listen to random Heathen ramblings podcast, and
- 10:29find some enjoyment out of it, and I'm happy.
- 10:31So, thank you all for that support, like I said, in the
- 10:36intro, you know, a couple of things on my mind that I thought
- 10:41would be fun to go on a bit of a rambling rant about I mentioned
- 10:47intro in the intro about sacrifice over offerings or
- 10:52sacrifice versus offerings and deeds versus intent.
- 10:56All this kind of stuff. What am I even talking about?
- 10:59What's even that, why is that something and the idea or the
- 11:06thing that kind of, you know, sparked this mind fire to ignite
- 11:12as it were was a post that I saw on a The large Facebook group.
- 11:22So for any of my listeners out there that are wondering what
- 11:28that group is it is is simply titled Asatru or Assad, true.
- 11:33Or however, you know, whatever emphasis that you want to.
- 11:40That you want to put to the word, I'll probably add the link
- 11:44to the group in the show notes, just in case anybody out there
- 11:48listening is not familiar with it, but it's, it is a, it's an
- 11:53interesting group to say the least.
- 11:57And I know, you know, it's a group that is not four.
- 12:03Not for everybody, and I say that only because not everybody
- 12:08takes the same style or start. It's not even real stuff.
- 12:12Doesn't take the same approach to Heathen read.
- 12:14As the next person, this group on Facebook that I'm talking
- 12:18about is run by and moderated by what I would consider hardcore,
- 12:24Reconstructionist type folks and there's a lot of knowledge.
- 12:29There's a lot of information that can be extracted from The
- 12:33information that shared here. There's also you know, some
- 12:39people that approach or that that come to this approach of
- 12:43religion. When I talk about this approach
- 12:45will talk about heathen re there's they're still trying to
- 12:48figure things out, right? And they and they find things.
- 12:50Oh, I'm also true so true or whatever and they search for
- 12:54stuff on social media. They find groups and they go up.
- 12:57There's a group that says also true, right?
- 13:00And it's got, you know, 10,000 followers.
- 13:02I'm going to I'm going to fit right in.
- 13:04You know hail Odin in this and that and they join and they
- 13:07introduce themselves, they say something and then it's like
- 13:11what man people come just come out and and and on the surface
- 13:16level, just kind of you know, lay into these newcomers or
- 13:21people are still trying to figure things out because again
- 13:24the the group is running a very, very specific sort of way so it
- 13:29can come across as being very like people are just in Forex
- 13:34about things, you know, you kind of an asshole or whatever and
- 13:39that just is kind of the That's just kind of the, the
- 13:43atmosphere, you know. So if you can get past the the
- 13:46callous nature of the callous approach to things and and
- 13:50approach it in a way where and you wanting to learn and read
- 13:54the group rules and all this kind of mess.
- 13:55You know, I've learned a lot and I've actually taken a lot away
- 13:59from the content posted in this group again, if it's, if you're
- 14:04not a Reconstructionist and if you're not at least partially
- 14:09interested in, Historical approaches to this religion,
- 14:14then the group's not for you again.
- 14:18It's not all about the mysticism aspects of what is probably
- 14:24mostly found in in modern day. It's not even a reconstruction
- 14:33of prose, it's like a modern-day reinvention, you know, neo-pagan
- 14:36e, type stuff, the Wu fluffy bunny type stuff.
- 14:39That's what that's not what this group is about.
- 14:41It's very historically based. So anyway, information of that,
- 14:48I've decided information on that will be up in the show notes.
- 14:51If you're interested, you want to find that group head up to
- 14:53the show, notes to the podcast, link to the Facebook group will
- 14:56be there. But an interesting post that I
- 15:00want to talk about. Was a post that was included on
- 15:05March 25th. Today is the 31st last day of
- 15:08March, by the way, you guys, we've made it three months into
- 15:112021 and what a ride. It's been so far.
- 15:15So anyway about 56 days ago, this post came up and it was a
- 15:21post asking if a half a jar of moonshine would be a
- 15:24considerable start for a sacrifice.
- 15:27This is a question that was posted by a I'm going to venture
- 15:32out on a limb and say this is a newcomer to Heathen rear at
- 15:40least to this group because of the nature of the question would
- 15:44half a jar moonshine? Be a considerable start for a
- 15:49sacrifice right now. The first response to this was
- 15:59as it's not a sacrifice. No and as a follow-up response
- 16:05in regards to the offering Factor depends on.
- 16:07If you made it yourself and how the other half was spent.
- 16:11And then there's a thread within this post.
- 16:14That goes into kind of a little bit of an explanation of what's
- 16:19being talked about here because the the the person who responded
- 16:25to this and I'm not going to name names or whatever.
- 16:27Just again I don't this was not my post and I don't have no
- 16:31permission from the authors or the writers of this group.
- 16:35If you guys just go to the show notes, you'll see what I'm
- 16:37talking about. If you join the group, you'll
- 16:39see there's a difference between offerings and sacrifices.
- 16:48Now, for a lot of folks, I think that may bring up questions,
- 16:53especially newcomers to hidenori while and offering, you know, to
- 16:58the gods or this that, you know, what's the difference between an
- 17:00offering and a sacrifice. And I just, I wanted to kind of
- 17:05go into that and give a little bit of my own understanding,
- 17:08because it look, as I've said multiple times before, you know,
- 17:12I'm by no means an an end, all be all authority, to Heathen re
- 17:15I'm learning a lot myself. My own worldview that has
- 17:19developed has, has, has taken years to develop and it's still,
- 17:26it is, it's like a living thing, you know?
- 17:28It's, it's constantly evolving. It's constantly growing too.
- 17:32We'll adjust, you know what I mean?
- 17:35Like, my world view now is not the same as it was your, you
- 17:38know, year two years ago, whatever.
- 17:40And I'm almost sure, assuredly going to say that my worldview
- 17:46today is not going to be exactly the same as it will be this time
- 17:48next year. It's like my world do a year a
- 17:51year ago. Wasn't exactly the same as it is
- 17:53today, you know so with that being said, you know, when a
- 18:00post like that gets posted and you get someone who is Who has
- 18:05been doing this for so long and who has been who has developed a
- 18:09world? You do two years of research and
- 18:11experience comes off and says, well it's not a sacrifice.
- 18:16So no, it's not a quote considerable start.
- 18:22Now in regards to the offering Factor, it depends on if you
- 18:25made it yourself, right? If you made the Moonshine, if
- 18:28you made the, the liquor yourself and how the other half
- 18:33because guy, you know, again the the original post was posted as
- 18:37like, half a jar of moonshine and the person who's responding
- 18:45who posted that got the response and then the in an innate intern
- 18:48replied, said I didn't know if it also depends on personal.
- 18:52Value to which the response came off as no, because it's Deeds
- 18:58not intent and they suggest reading studying and learning.
- 19:01Because the approach that this person is taken, seems to be
- 19:07following a bit more of a romanticized view, which is very
- 19:10typical for newcomers to Heathen re they're still trying to find
- 19:14their way, they're trying to still, you know, develop a
- 19:17worldview and then learn things and come.
- 19:21Across and then come forward with things that just again seem
- 19:29a bit romanticize and not actually based on any sort of
- 19:33research. Now, again, if your approach is
- 19:35not historical, and if you're not into, you know, a
- 19:39Reconstructionist approach, then fine, don't pass off your your
- 19:44old beliefs, or your thoughts, or your what is unverified,
- 19:47unverified personal gnosis UPG. Don't pass that off as Factor.
- 19:52Don't pass it off as anything other than what it is.
- 19:55But if you are truly interested in wanting to develop a
- 19:57worldview that is based around historical sources and texts
- 20:02take the time to learn and study about these things.
- 20:08Because as a point that was brought up in this post was that
- 20:11you know, wasting alcohol when you don't even properly know why
- 20:16you're wasting. It would be pretty much a shame.
- 20:19So I wanted to kind of talk a bit about at least where I'm
- 20:23sitting at, in my world view, in my understanding of things
- 20:27sacrifice versus offerings. Okay?
- 20:33Now again on the surface, the words, the the approach or
- 20:37whatever to What these words mean and what you're doing?
- 20:40They seem identical. But I'm going to kind of talk
- 20:45through it a bit and go off into the weeds with this stuff.
- 20:49So again, as you guys and gals out, there are doing your thing
- 20:56and going about your daily activities, whatever it may be
- 20:58just kind of, as I like to say, you know, bear with me.
- 21:04So again, my idea or my understanding of sacrifice is
- 21:07that The reason behind the sacrifice is to elicit, a
- 21:16certain response from the sacred.
- 21:21Also sacrifice means that you are rendering the item that you
- 21:27are sacrificing, okay? The at that, the thing that
- 21:31you're sacrificing, whatever it might be, the sacrifice process.
- 21:39Renders it to be the Of no more further.
- 21:46Use in profane space I mentioned on my podcast and in videos
- 21:50before about the difference between fruit profane and Sacred
- 21:54Space are at least I've alluded to it.
- 21:56Maybe haven't gone into great detail or depth with that but in
- 22:00but suffice that to say, you know, profane space and time is
- 22:04what we as humans as Mortals as mankind.
- 22:10That is the, that is the existence that we live in.
- 22:12We live in profane, space and time.
- 22:15There is sacred space and time that transcends beyond what we
- 22:21can tangibly or in any sort of way.
- 22:25Identify with, in, in again, in our own mortal profane view of
- 22:32things. Now, there are also as I can
- 22:36subsets or sub differences between Sacred Space and Time
- 22:42where in the sacred? Well, and the RIT realm or the
- 22:47Spiritual Beings because the spiritual realm there, there is.
- 22:52It's kind of like different levels.
- 22:53At least the way as I understand it.
- 22:54You got mortal beings that exist in profane space.
- 22:59Such as us as Mankind. And you've got Spiritual Beings
- 23:02that exist in profane space. And we're talking in talking now
- 23:05about such figures as the vator of the home of a tear of the
- 23:10land, the London fit here, the who's fatir these Spiritual
- 23:14Beings Spirit beings these whites as it were.
- 23:17These entities that exist in profane space.
- 23:21We coexist with them in our profane space and time, but they
- 23:25exist on a different level of exhibit, they exist on a
- 23:30different level, you know what I mean?
- 23:32Like they've, if I feel like they are closer to Sacred Space
- 23:38than we are, but they still coexist with us.
- 23:42So, we're talking about again, the who's Are the weights these
- 23:47beings. These are creatures.
- 23:49These are entities. These are as o and our ancestors
- 23:53as well. So our ancestors, our spirit
- 23:56being Spirit forces that a that exist within the profane space
- 24:03there just in like the Spirit Room, sort of sort of existence
- 24:08in my understanding, right? So or is how I approach it?
- 24:12So you've got sacrifice offerings, we Sacrifice to the
- 24:16sacred, and we offer within the profane.
- 24:19We offer to our ancestors. We offer to the whites as they
- 24:24sort of gesture of acknowledgment to maintain solid
- 24:31and good wholesome relationships between us and them because we,
- 24:36again, share existent share space.
- 24:39We share our time, we share our lives with them and we coexist.
- 24:44We cohabitate Offering to them is an engagement within the
- 24:50gifting cycle to again, maintain that that healthy relationship.
- 24:58The sacrifice element is done through the sacred as also a
- 25:05engagement of the gifting psycho, but the intent, you
- 25:09know, the reason behind it, I feel is different and it's on a
- 25:13different scale. Deeds not intent, Deeds versus
- 25:17intent sacrifice versus offerings and again.
- 25:23So so you know how do we Define the difference?
- 25:26What is the, what is the separation between it?
- 25:30To me, right? At least coming at it from a and
- 25:34I am not a. Let me just reiterate.
- 25:36If I haven't mentioned it, already it on this podcast.
- 25:38I haven't another's podcast episodes before.
- 25:43I'm not a 100% hardcore, Reconstructionist even not a
- 25:47historical reconstruction seating.
- 25:48I do however draw strongly from the historical side of things
- 25:56like that is a huge inspiration and a huge source.
- 26:00For me to pull from. So, with that being said, The
- 26:07way I approach eating my worldview of heathen re is being
- 26:11built largely around historical approaches to things the the
- 26:16engagement with the sacred is done solely at the tribal level,
- 26:23right? The reason for that is because
- 26:25we know at least from historical sources that when the gods were
- 26:30sacrificed to, It was done. With the involvement of the
- 26:37tribe of the society. It wasn't like, you know, you
- 26:41know, Joe blow over here sacrificed something of his own
- 26:46to the gods and it was just him if it existed, if that happened,
- 26:51we don't know about it. We don't have any historical
- 26:53text so we can't back it up. In any sort of way, did it
- 26:58happen? Could it have happened.
- 27:00Very, very possibly. And probably, I mean, why would
- 27:06we think otherwise? But again with their, there's
- 27:08nothing to back it up. What we do have is store
- 27:11actually written down. What we do have document that we
- 27:13know of is that when the gods were sacrificed to, there was a
- 27:18group present, it was done at the tribal level. and those
- 27:22things that were sacrificed where, Destroyed in some sort of
- 27:28way. They were weapons were bent food
- 27:31was burned. Things were bogged things were
- 27:35rendered useless in the profane space, that was the ritualistic
- 27:39element. It was being sent off to the
- 27:41sacred sent off beyond the profane space and times use.
- 27:47And therefore, that was a sacrifice and that could have
- 27:50been anything. It could have been.
- 27:51I mean a weapon It could have been the the harvest of a crop
- 27:59or something. If you destroyed something
- 28:02Beyond use for yourself and for yours, that's a sacrifice.
- 28:06Because again, that was your life.
- 28:07That was your protection. That was something that could
- 28:10have been used to, you know, provide for your hearth, for
- 28:18your home, for your tribe. And if that did not exist
- 28:21anymore it was ritually destroyed as a Sacrifice.
- 28:24And it was the deed itself of doing that was done for
- 28:30something very specific offerings, things of a gift, you
- 28:35know, I offer this to you and hope that I receive something
- 28:38back little bit different approach and then the Deeds, the
- 28:45focus on those deeds were position little bit differently.
- 28:50You know, and I understand the the response and the reply where
- 28:59this whole, you know, where this this individuals like half a jar
- 29:02moonshine, is that considerable start of a sacrifice?
- 29:04No, not as a start of a sacrifice because what can you
- 29:07do, go to the store and buy a jar moonshine, you know, without
- 29:15context without understanding what it is.
- 29:16You know, was, was, was this moonshine, something that you or
- 29:21you or someone near and dear to you hate themselves, I can say
- 29:27just as a sort of I'm trying to think of the right word but like
- 29:33my own experience, right? Mead that has been made homemade
- 29:41by those nearest and dearest to me was made specifically for a
- 29:48sacrifice. It's like it wasn't even drunk
- 29:55by by the Tribune. It was like a batch of mead was
- 29:58made to ritually destroy as a sacrifice of the Sacred and it
- 30:03was done on the like tribal level with the group, right?
- 30:09So, If if that part again, it's their these Deeds over in 10 or
- 30:20deeds not intent. I'm still doing some some
- 30:24learning and studying and research of myself to decipher
- 30:27the difference between that, because I feel like intent means
- 30:31a lot when it comes to why we do what we do, I've talked about it
- 30:34enough where, you know, what you do, what you give, what you the
- 30:41item is of little And there's there's more to it with the
- 30:47intent behind it. Why you're doing it?
- 30:48The purpose behind it. So I feel like there's a blend
- 30:52between deeds and intent that needs to be considered here.
- 30:58But again, the initial response, you know, half a jar moonshine,
- 31:01what? You know what do you do with the
- 31:02other half? Secondly, you know, firstly
- 31:04secondly there's no real context of basis off of you talking.
- 31:09Just about a generic half a jar of something.
- 31:15Again, if there was more context behind it, if somebody's like
- 31:17I'm gifting this. Because our I'm sacrificing, is
- 31:20because I'm the one that made it.
- 31:21I've spent x amount of months or whatever making this.
- 31:25And this is what I've put into it.
- 31:28And this is, you know why I'm doing it again.
- 31:30There's there's got to be a reason why I feel that the
- 31:33intent behind. It does mean something.
- 31:37So maybe more on that to come over time.
- 31:40But that's kind of where I feel like the difference between
- 31:43sacrifice and offerings are sacrifices to the gods
- 31:46sacrifices to the sacred. And it's done with a very
- 31:49specific approach in a very specific audience, the audience,
- 31:54but involvement with the tribe offerings can be made and done
- 31:58on a daily basis, on an individual level, at an
- 32:00individual, or even small group, you know, if it's like a family
- 32:04called Hearth cult approach to things, you know, like every
- 32:08morning we make it, we make a All the votes, are we poor this
- 32:11or that? And it's a ritual gesture to the
- 32:15whites of the home or the whites of the land or we do this we do
- 32:18those sort of individual cultic practices that I feel are an
- 32:23integral element to how Heathen rage developed in modern time.
- 32:28Like there has to be that there has to be a strong sib, that has
- 32:32to be a strong family unit. There has to be that strong
- 32:34familial structure in existence before you can even think about
- 32:40Out engaging with the sacred at the tribal level, it has to
- 32:43happen at the home. First, it has to happen with the
- 32:46family. First, you know, even re is
- 32:48where the Hearth is. Shout out, Eric shervin at the
- 32:51Ravens call because that's that's entirely him but I back
- 32:54it up 150 thousand percent right even realize where the Hearth is
- 33:02folks. And if you don't have a strong
- 33:05family unit, if you don't have strong Hearth cult individual
- 33:09cultic Actresses within your roof-tree, your family
- 33:13roof-tree. Whatever label, whatever name
- 33:15you want to put to it, then where do you have anything to go
- 33:19off of? Where you going to?
- 33:21How do you know, you can understand?
- 33:26Engaging in dealing with the sacred.
- 33:28If you are not first understanding on how to deal
- 33:31with and engage with those spiritual entities and elements
- 33:35that exist within your own space within profane space, you got to
- 33:39start, you gotta crawl before you walk.
- 33:42You got to walk before you run you know it has to start
- 33:45somewhere and I feel like that's where a lot of newcomers to
- 33:48Heathen. We are getting kind of lost in
- 33:51the sauce, you know, you know, Odin Thor prayer, tear.
- 33:55God's, right? And they have no idea or haven't
- 34:01built at least a a foundation to go off of, you know, I think
- 34:06it's all about the gods, the gods, the gods Gods gods.
- 34:09And I've talked about this in a recent video on my YouTube
- 34:12channel, you know, God's over folk.
- 34:14You know how, you know, where is your approach to you, you know.
- 34:19Have you already built your Hearth, cult, have you already
- 34:22built those individual cultic practices and an established
- 34:26tradition there before you venture off and go into the, you
- 34:31know, the sacred realm of things.
- 34:34So, that's the first half of this episode.
- 34:40That's the first segment about this.
- 34:43I'm going to come back here after a little bit and talk to
- 34:46you a bit about the future. This podcast, I got some things

- 38:01All right, now, welcome back. Thank you for sticking with it.
- 38:06After that short, commercial break, as I like to call it all
- 38:12of which I run run these promos, right?
- 38:16I put these promos and between segments and between stuff on
- 38:20the podcast, the kind of, you know, break through the noise
- 38:22and give you guys something interesting to listen to.
- 38:25It's mostly not going to lie, you know, my own products.
- 38:30My Brand that sort of thing because guess what?
- 38:33Midgard musings has become a brand?
- 38:35Or at least, I like to think so, it's becoming a brand I'm
- 38:37working towards making it a brand and here on the random
- 38:43Heathen ramblings podcast, it's just another way to, you know,
- 38:48get it out there. So As I fight through a little
- 38:53bit of indigestion, apologies for that if you heard it.
- 38:59But, um, Hitting a bit of a snag.
- 39:04With the podcast here lately. So for everybody that's
- 39:11listening that's been following and stuff.
- 39:13You guys know I'm all about this anchor.
- 39:15Anchor platform. You know I talk about oh you
- 39:21know send me this voice. Message through the anchor dot f
- 39:23m--, app Rancor. Dot f m / midgar musings.
- 39:27You can find me on the anchor app.
- 39:30It's free free. Free free free, everybody loves
- 39:33free. I love free.
- 39:34Who doesn't love, free? Right.
- 39:37But what at, what cost at what price, you know, talking about
- 39:41free. You know, you get what you pay
- 39:42for this thing that in the other.
- 39:47And here's the, here's the sort of snag that I have hit with
- 39:52anchor, okay? So it's, you know, it's time to
- 39:57be real with all of my listeners because I know you guys, you
- 40:01know, I've get I, you know, I get 100 plus some odd listeners
- 40:05a week on this platform which is modest but I appreciate every
- 40:11one of you, right? So if you're listening to this
- 40:14and you're wondering what's even going on, what's he talking
- 40:18about? I do want to say that, you know,
- 40:21a hundred some odd listeners a week is huge and I want to say
- 40:24thank you. But the hang up or the or the
- 40:30issue is this right into some real talk here now.
- 40:34Okay. So hope you guys are settled in
- 40:36for this, the issue, right? Is that my time is spent outside
- 40:45of work. When I, when I say work, I mean
- 40:48you know ten hour days, five days a week.
- 40:54I don't have a lot of extra spare time.
- 40:59That I spend with like my family with my wife and stuff, she has
- 41:03things that she does extracurricular activities
- 41:05outside of her work schedule in our, in our lives work, in such
- 41:11a, such a fashion in such a way. But in terms of the time that I
- 41:15spend outside of work extracurricular activities, its,
- 41:18you know, once a week it's doing something like this with the
- 41:20podcast and all the times. It's, you know, putting up
- 41:23YouTube content, making Rune sets are doing or Trying to
- 41:28procure equipment and products to make Rune sets and all this
- 41:31other kind of stuff. It's time, right?
- 41:35And what's the old sounds? The old saying go.
- 41:37You know time is money, okay? And look For me to come out here
- 41:43and do these things and get out here and do these podcasts.
- 41:47I love to do it, you know, for the hour or so, a week to put
- 41:52these things out, I'm not asking for much.
- 41:55I'm not asking for people out here to pay me for my time.
- 42:00But what I am trying to do is monetize, right?
- 42:07And have advertisers or sponsors linked to the podcast that are
- 42:12To say, hey, you know what, let's throw some ads in between,
- 42:15you know, mid roles and things like that along the along the
- 42:18way. So that way, you know, people
- 42:20that are listen in any way that, you know, when you watch
- 42:22television, when you do, you get commercials right.
- 42:24When you watch YouTube, unless you're paying for premium,
- 42:26you're going to get ads. It's just another form of
- 42:29marketing, it's just another form its business, right?
- 42:33That's all I want and that's all I know.
- 42:35I was getting it here on anchor for the longest time.
- 42:40Now, let me tell you what's been In happening for the last year.
- 42:45Longer Lynn a year, probably for last year and a half.
- 42:49Okay, I have not been getting any sort of sponsorships, any
- 42:52sort of ads or anything running on these on these episodes,
- 42:58which means I'm doing what I'm doing, 100% strictly for free.
- 43:02Unless you know, listener such as yourself wish to donate,
- 43:06monetarily to the podcast which I again, it's great if you want
- 43:12to. But I always say, you know, if
- 43:13you want to support me and what I do here then listen.
- 43:18Share comment, follow subscribe, all that kind of stuff because
- 43:22the more people that know about it, the more the algorithms are
- 43:29trained as it were to distribute the content.
- 43:32So I don't ask for monetary support from my listeners unless
- 43:37you absolutely want to, and I get that through like patreon.
- 43:41I get it through the YouTube ad Revenue.
- 43:43I get it through a lot of different ways, but it's I'mi'm
- 43:48really frustrated with anger because all of the year, you
- 43:51know, all the time of the last year and a half.
- 43:53All the episodes that I put out that get absolutely, no
- 43:59monetization. I've reached out to their
- 44:01support and I keep getting the same cookie cutter response.
- 44:05Oh you know just keep putting that content will match you up
- 44:08with a sponsor. One of these days and one of
- 44:12these days ain't a date a week. Dude.
- 44:14Like it doesn't happen. It doesn't, it doesn't.
- 44:18And I've said, you know, look if this is the same response that
- 44:22I'm going to get which again is coming from a platform, that is
- 44:26free to use. So you know what are you going
- 44:29to complain about, Jesse, right? It's free.
- 44:31You get what you pay for For beginners for hobbyists.
- 44:38For folks that are just doing it to be fun.
- 44:40Anchor is great, it's been awesome.
- 44:42I actually love it, I enjoy using, it's very simple, it's
- 44:45very easy but I need something more and I want something more
- 44:51and that is where you the listener.
- 44:55They come into the play here you guys.
- 44:58Listen to what I have to say. You up vote, you you provide
- 45:02your support and that's sort of why I'm asking you for your
- 45:05feedback. You know I'm doing some research
- 45:06and I'm looking to maybe jump over to a different podcast
- 45:10platform to build this brand at a professional level.
- 45:17So if anybody is out there, listening that has podcast
- 45:20themselves or does podcast themselves and has seen success
- 45:24SS with it. Then I invite you to let me
- 45:26know, Reach Out, midgard, musings tiene at gmail.com.
- 45:30I may be moving all of my podcast to a different platform.
- 45:36Now, that may mean that my previous episodes go, bye-bye.
- 45:41I really don't want that to happen, because I think if I
- 45:44were to reflect back and see, I've seen a lot of great growth.
- 45:48I look at my analytics and it's pretty encouraging, you know, to
- 45:53see what It's what's been happening with the podcast, but
- 45:58at the end of the day, again, like time is money.
- 46:01If I'm going to spend an hour a week or a couple of whatever
- 46:04it's going to be, getting some sort of Kickback from it, it's
- 46:10warranted. You do.
- 46:11What you wouldn't ask anybody to do a service to perform a
- 46:14service or to provide Goods free of charge without getting
- 46:18something in return. So I hope this doesn't seem
- 46:23shallow. I'm not trying to make it sound
- 46:25shallow. I'm not trying to make the sound
- 46:26like I'm in it for the money but at the end of the day, I enjoy
- 46:32doing this and I want to see something in return to help
- 46:37provide for my family and give something back that I give to it
- 46:43and really all that boils down to is finding a good platform
- 46:46that's going to T me up and pair me up with You know, sponsors or
- 46:53or Affiliates or something to to generate some ad Revenue.
- 46:58So am I the greatest podcaster out here by no means?
- 47:02I am not because they're just stuck listening to me on this.
- 47:07I don't I don't I don't have a visual version of this podcast
- 47:11out here. My equipment is basic at the
- 47:14very least You know, and if I were to try to change this
- 47:20podcast to a audio and visual format and just, you know,
- 47:25worried about, you know, strictly doing it via YouTube or
- 47:29any other methods. Again, I want, I want to
- 47:32consider that and I want to consider what opportunities
- 47:35there are out there for folks, like me looking to go pro as it
- 47:41says are as they say. So again, if you got some
- 47:45feedback, you want to offer it to me.
- 47:48Let me know you can you can you know you can call me the the the
- 47:54hotline is there and it's open if you want to leave a voicemail
- 47:5861 5, 6 7 1983 to sending an e-mail though, with some links
- 48:03or some information would be probably best for something like
- 48:07this. So, midgard, musings Tian at
- 48:11gmail.com. I'll take a take a look at it
- 48:15but I am. I am here on The anchor platform
- 48:18talking about looking for opportunities outside.
- 48:23Of the anchor platform. So we'll see how good this
- 48:28episode does knowing that I'm sitting here publicly.
- 48:36Denouncing the platform that I published my entire content on.
- 48:40And, you know, that's the cool thing about anchor.
- 48:43It's like, you know, I don't have to worry about where the
- 48:45episode shows up and, you know, Spotify and Apple and Google
- 48:49podcast and all these other places anchor does it all.
- 48:55But I'm not willing to put in more work to get my podcast out
- 48:58on other platforms so that way I get something back in return for
- 49:01it. Absolutely, I am, you know.
- 49:04Absolutely I am. So if you got ideas and you want
- 49:08to shoot in my way, then I am 100% anxious to hear from you.
- 49:17I guess that I've looked into some and I've got some ideas on
- 49:21where to go. but you're listening and you're the ones
- 49:26that You know support this podcast by listening.
- 49:31So whatever your feedback is one way or the other.
- 49:34Say no man. You know what, stay right here.
- 49:35Just stick it through. While I am on anchor, you do
- 49:40have that option to send me a voice message.
- 49:43Just download the anchor app, look for midgard musings.
- 49:46Random Heathen ramblings. Send me a voice message.
- 49:49You got a minute to say what you want to say on that.
- 49:52You can call me and leave me a message on the hotline number.

- 50:07for me at least on this segment. Got a couple more things for
- 50:12you. Listen to and then we're going
- 50:13to get into what I hope is one of the highlights of the podcast
- 50:18which is the of them all stands a discussion.
- 50:22So we're going to be right back after these messages with a
- 50:24random stanza from the Hall of them all to discuss its meaning

- 52:00All right, folks, here we are once again at the end of the
- 52:04podcast, winding things down with another randomly selected
- 52:10stanza from the lava mole, whereas of the high one, one of
- 52:15the most widely known and recognized poems contained
- 52:21within the poetic Edda. Largely recognized by many
- 52:27heathens as being a source of practical wisdom.
- 52:33How to get some water. There's some wisdom for you,
- 52:36stay hydrated, right? Drink water or die.
- 52:42There's your, there's your stanza for the day.
- 52:44That's it. Good night, have a great day.
- 52:46Random Heathen. Ramblings out.
- 52:48No no just kidding. Today's random stanza from the
- 52:52Hall of them. All is selected and it is stanza
- 52:5537. So if you made it this far in
- 52:59the podcast, then I would like to initiate or or invite people
- 53:06initiate, right? One of those Southern words. 8,
- 53:10but that's horrible humor invite you to suggest a random stanza
- 53:17of the Hall of them. All right?
- 53:19You got plenty of ways to get in touch with the podcast.
- 53:23Mainly, if you want to discuss anything you can call the
- 53:28hotline. But if you want a stanza to be
- 53:30read here on the podcast and call into the hotline 61 5 6, 7
- 53:361983 to and let me know which stanza from the Of Mall you
- 53:40would like for me to cover but today's random stanza is
- 53:43selected by myself randomly. I'm going to randomly randomize
- 53:48it stanza, 37. And as always, we're going to
- 53:52read from a number of various translations.
- 53:55We've got the Auden and Taylor translation we've got.
- 54:01Let's see, we got nothing Bellows.
- 54:05We've got Hollander, Thorpe and Jackson Crawford today.
- 54:10So we'll start with the ottoman Taylor translation of stanza. 37
- 54:15from the Hall of mul a small Hut of One's Own is better.
- 54:20And is his master at home, his heart bleeds in the beggar, who
- 54:25must ask at each meal for meat. The Bellows translation is
- 54:31better a house, though. I Hut it.
- 54:34Be a man is Master at home. His heart is bleeding, who needs
- 54:39must beg when food, he Fain would have Hollander is going to
- 54:47read. One's home is best though, a Hut
- 54:49it be there. A man is master and Lord his
- 54:53heart doth bleed who has to beg the meat for his, every meal
- 55:00Thorpe is one's own house, is best small though, it be at
- 55:05home. Is everyone his own Master
- 55:08bleeding at heart is he who has to ask for food at every meal
- 55:12tied and then Jackson Crawford is the final one.
- 55:17They're going to read from this is in The Wanderers of them all.
- 55:22Better to have a home. Even if it's little, everyone
- 55:25should call somewhere home. Your heart will be wounded if
- 55:30you have to beg for every meal from somebody else.
- 55:37Now one interesting thing to note as in, you know a lot of
- 55:42the various translations that one may read from my I try to
- 55:46offer different translations from different versions because
- 55:50sometimes the lines and numberings of the stanzas vary
- 55:55between the numbers between the translation.
- 56:00So, you know, you know, like one version might be stanza.
- 56:05Blah blah blah. And then another the same thing
- 56:07that's red is like one or two stanzas different.
- 56:12But these the like stanza 37, right?
- 56:16You got 36 and 37 that touch on similar themes, and they share
- 56:21pretty much the same thing as like the first two lines.
- 56:25You got The first two lines. That express the idea that it's
- 56:29good to have your own house regardless of how small or
- 56:31humble it is, right. Plenty of people that are
- 56:35listening to this may own their home.
- 56:37They may rent. They may rent to own and they
- 56:39have are buying their home. They may live in a apartment and
- 56:46they live in a small house. A condo townhome trailer,
- 56:52doesn't matter. It's good to have your own
- 56:55space. It's good to Have your own house
- 56:57regardless of how small our humble, it is okay.
- 57:02When wherever I have lived over my life and I've lived in many
- 57:07places, many different abodes have sheltered.
- 57:11My head from the elements. I'm it always felt good to come
- 57:16back to it at that time. You know, because when you have
- 57:21a home because when you have a place, you are the master there
- 57:25you are the Lord of your Abode, right?
- 57:28Describing it as being, you know, your own master, your own
- 57:33house, it gets right to the heart of.
- 57:35I think the wisdom that is presented in this stanza,
- 57:39because look at look at everything that we have to do
- 57:43with, in modern time, right? We have to go to our jobs.
- 57:45We have to go out and we have to Go shopping.
- 57:52Whether it be for clothes or food, so much of what we have to
- 57:56do in our daily lives happens, outside of our home or at least
- 58:03they have in the past I guess within the last year or so, a
- 58:05lot of what we do is restrict it to our homes because for for
- 58:09instance myself I've had the fortune in the opportunity to
- 58:13work from home. So my home is literally where I
- 58:17spend my whole time. This Just a separation between
- 58:21work and personal life. But consider, also, the fact
- 58:27that when you are outside of your home, whether it be, if you
- 58:29have to go to a job or with you go to shopping or public or even
- 58:33if you're at a guest or even if you are a guest at someone
- 58:37else's home, could be a friend, right?
- 58:40You're not truly or, you know, there's not as much Freedom
- 58:46present in those places. And in those Environments as
- 58:50much as it is when you are at your own home, okay?
- 58:58And and this kind of, I guess, you know, like a lot of folks,
- 59:01but that may be listening, may not be in their own home as it
- 59:04were, they made have like a roommate situation or their, you
- 59:08know, coexisting in the home of another.
- 59:11But You know, so you may not necessarily have that but you
- 59:15have your own space, you have your own area.
- 59:19Because even in your own home, no matter how little or big, it
- 59:22might be your king of the castle.
- 59:25You're the, you're the, you know, the Cock of the Walk as
- 59:28they say, you know, King of the roost master of your own domain,
- 59:33captain of your own ship. You know, that's kind of like
- 59:40the first half of the stands are the first couple lines, you
- 59:42know, the next few lines. Go over the point of kind of the
- 59:47result of when Those things don't, when the first two lines,
- 59:52don't don't play out. You know, if you're having the
- 59:54beg for something to eat, if you having to rely on somebody else
- 59:58to eat theirs, There's there's very few pains that can be
- 1:00:03compared to that, you know, to rely on somebody else.
- 1:00:06You know, I don't have a meal, I don't bring in my own nail and
- 1:00:09stuff and I therefore have to rely on somebody else to feed me
- 1:00:14and that sort of thing. It's It really does and I've
- 1:00:20been in that situation before. You know what I mean?
- 1:00:22Where you don't, you don't ask for much because, you know, that
- 1:00:27you are taking from others. You know.
- 1:00:30You don't have that much to offer back in return.
- 1:00:32It's like this. It does.
- 1:00:34It makes your heart bleed as we've heard you know bleeding at
- 1:00:38heart as he has to ask for food at every meal.
- 1:00:41Tied it's a terrible pain to feel.
- 1:00:44It's a unique sort of pain to feel so to maintain.
- 1:00:47Our honor to maintain our integrity.
- 1:00:49And to stand on our own two feet is, is, is is is a real big
- 1:00:54accomplishment. You know, I feel like it's,
- 1:00:57we're learning our own way. We maintain our own Pride, we
- 1:01:01maintain our own honor and it's, you know, knowing that we
- 1:01:06provide for our family, that's one of the greatest
- 1:01:08accomplishments and feelings that I've had of accomplishment
- 1:01:11in my own life, is knowing that at the end of the day, the
- 1:01:15things that happen within my own Earth are due to the result of
- 1:01:20hard work from, not just me, but from My Wife, and, you know, it
- 1:01:25is, it's it's a measure of our own of our own reputation of our
- 1:01:31own luck. We talk about things with in a
- 1:01:33heathen world view, GIF, rain, and luck.
- 1:01:35And these are things that are very important to us as he has
- 1:01:39heathens, right? How we step up and make things
- 1:01:44happen. It's, we don't just wait for
- 1:01:47something to happen for us. We go out and we make things
- 1:01:50happen ourselves. You know, we work hard, we go
- 1:01:57through our struggles, we fight our way back from troubles.
- 1:02:00If we get knocked down and you know what, we shake it off, we
- 1:02:05wipe the blood off our face, we dust the dirt off of our knees
- 1:02:09and we Just crack our Knuckles, crack our necks, and we get back
- 1:02:15into The Fray, we go back out there and do we don't accept
- 1:02:17defeat, we don't lie down and just take the the lashings that
- 1:02:23life dishes out, you know. And I feel like that is what
- 1:02:29makes us as heathens so honorable, and so different, you
- 1:02:33know, number regardless of the religious approach over the
- 1:02:37religious views of individuals, along this path.
- 1:02:42There's, there's a commonality, there's, there's a common ground
- 1:02:45that I think we can all relate to, and that is that we are not
- 1:02:48just going to lie down and let things take us.
- 1:02:52We're going to Let the adversity.
- 1:02:55Let the struggle temper us into learning how to survive
- 1:03:02learning, how to provide for and stand on our own two feet
- 1:03:08because it brings worth it, it gives us Worth to our folk and
- 1:03:14it gives You know, when our people see that when art when
- 1:03:19our Kinsmen, when our kiss, when are the extended people of our
- 1:03:22family, those who are nearest and dearest to us.
- 1:03:24When they see that, we are now worth more to them because they
- 1:03:29see what we go through and they don't like, well, you didn't
- 1:03:33even take that one lying down, more two more to him than on the
- 1:03:38surface or her on the surface than met the eye.
- 1:03:42So that's my analysis of stanza. 37 of the all of them.
