- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So let's talk. About the.
- 0:32Idea of being motivated versus the work of being motivated.
- 0:38You know, it's one of my, I don't know how I want to
- 0:41describe this. This is a tricky one for me
- 0:44because people will say, why aren't you like a motivational
- 0:46person? And I'm like, oh, I don't.
- 0:48I just feel that feels weird to me because that's not what I
- 0:51think I am at all. What I look at myself as is
- 0:57somebody who gets in there and figures out those emotions.
- 1:00And again, it comes back to managing your emotions, your
- 1:04mindset and understanding. Are they working for you or are
- 1:07they not working for you? It's pretty much that simple.
- 1:09And then figuring out how you tell yourself the truth that
- 1:12you're willing to hear and move towards what you're looking for
- 1:17pretty much sums it up in a nice, neat little paragraph.
- 1:20But the idea of being motivated versus the work of being
- 1:23motivated. So we all use that word a lot,
- 1:28especially people who listen to this.
- 1:30We all use that word. Am I motivated?
- 1:32Am I motivated to do this really is just means the move.
- 1:35Am I moving myself to do it? Am I?
- 1:37I'm feeling like I want to make the moves in order to do
- 1:41something. And we all love the ideas.
- 1:45That's the tricky part. We all love the idea of being in
- 1:49the midst of things. Oh, that sounds like a great
- 1:51idea. Oh, man, I'd love to be able to
- 1:53do something like that. But I don't know if I really
- 1:55want to like, you know, take the time to do it or, oh, I'd love
- 2:00to be able to learn to, you know, paint.
- 2:03But I don't know if I feel like going to the classes, whatever
- 2:07it might be. That's what I'm talking about,
- 2:09where you have the ideas of it, but you don't necessarily want
- 2:14the work of it. And this comes up so often
- 2:18because I, I mean, I hear it a lot, especially, you know, in my
- 2:22field, people will come in, they're like, well, I want to,
- 2:25you know, I want to get a book done.
- 2:26I want to record a class. I want to create this business.
- 2:29I want to build a team. I want to do all of this.
- 2:32And it all sounds fantastic, but oftentimes when you get down to
- 2:36the nitty gritty of the difference between just the
- 2:39thought and the work, that's when it gets much more clear
- 2:45that the person may not be ready to do it.
- 2:48And it's not that they're incapable of doing it, it's just
- 2:51that they have to get clear on are they willing to get.
- 2:54Up at. 4:00 AM. Are they willing to do the late
- 3:00nights if they're a late night person?
- 3:01I always use the morning because I'm a morning person and I will
- 3:04be, I'm I will. Happily get up very.
- 3:06Early to do something as opposed to stay up late to do something.
- 3:10So it becomes a a deep state of awareness to really look and say
- 3:17I need to focus myself on the idea that I'm going to be
- 3:25willing to do. The work.
- 3:26More than anything, because. The work is not just having the
- 3:32initial thought. The thought is.
- 3:33The initial thought's a big thing, but it's about having the
- 3:35idea to do that. That hard work and that work is
- 3:38mental. It's emotional.
- 3:40And it's. Physical it's that triad of
- 3:42doing all of that and you know, I can use the chicken coop as
- 3:46an. Example because to, to have all
- 3:50of this, this is this is physical work.
- 3:52This is labor that takes place every single day without
- 3:56question. They need food, they need water,
- 3:58they, they need to be cared for. Their hay needs to be turned.
- 4:01They need to be checked every day.
- 4:04It, it is work every single day, but it is also for me and, and
- 4:09recording the podcast out there and doing all the things that I
- 4:11do. With them, it's work, but it's
- 4:14also the mental work of saying OK, when, you know, when I took
- 4:18them on, I had to have that conversation with myself that
- 4:21says am I going to be willing to do this every single day?
- 4:26And the answer is yes. I obviously did that as we are
- 4:30over, I don't know, 800 and something episodes now, maybe
- 4:33even 900, but you get my point. This is about doing those check
- 4:37insurance and figuring it out. Am I, am I going to be willing
- 4:41able to put my focus on a point and say yes, I'm going to be
- 4:47willing to do it? Am I going to do the check
- 4:49insurance? That is the difference.
- 4:51That is in the work because I can get motivated to do
- 4:54anything. If I want to write a new book, I
- 4:56can say, Oh yeah, that's a great idea.
- 4:58But then I actually have to write the book and I have to
- 5:00figure out, OK, how do I keep myself motivated to do that?
- 5:04How do I put myself in that? Space.
- 5:07And it's. It's a.
- 5:09Formula about having the awareness to say I know what the
- 5:15dangers are ahead of time. Think of it that way.
- 5:18If you start to think about what am I going to need to do before
- 5:21I even start, then you start to project and say.
- 5:25OK, Yep, I get it. I could easily.
- 5:28Easily. Now make sure I can circumvent
- 5:31those hiccups and those potholes because I know what I'm up
- 5:35against. But if you don't, you'll just
- 5:37run right into them. So do yourself.
- 5:39The favour? Think about this, am I willing
- 5:42to do the work? As well.
- 5:44As just the idea. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:47you have a blessed day and I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:49Bye.
