- 0:05Welcome to the Remodel Report by USA Cabinet
- 0:08Store. I am Chris, and today we are Talking Money.
- 0:12What does a bathroom remodel actually cost in
- 0:162026? Jessica is here to give us the real numbers.
- 0:21Thanks, Chris. Here is the short answer. The
- 0:24national average is about $16 ,500, and most
- 0:28people spend somewhere between $8 ,000 and $45
- 0:31,000. Where you land mostly comes down to one
- 0:34decision. Are you keeping the layout or changing
- 0:37it? Okay, so break that down. What does each
- 0:39budget buy? A cosmetic refresh runs $5 ,000 to
- 0:42$10 ,000. That is paint, lighting, faucets, a
- 0:46new toilet, maybe a stock vanity, and your tile
- 0:50stays. A full mid -range remodel of a hall bath
- 0:53with new tile, a new shower, and a new floor
- 0:56in the same layout runs $16 ,000 to $28 ,000.
- 1:00Move plumbing or add frameless glass and premium
- 1:03tile. And you are at $30 ,000 to $50 ,000. Primary
- 1:07suites can go well past that. Here's what surprises
- 1:10people. A tiny 5x7 bathroom can cost almost as
- 1:13much as a big one. Why? Because the expensive
- 1:16parts do not shrink. A small bathroom still needs
- 1:19a toilet, a vanity, a shower valve, a permit,
- 1:23and a plumber, an electrician, and a tile setter,
- 1:26each with a minimum charge. So, small bathrooms
- 1:30often run $400 to $700 per square foot, while
- 1:33larger rooms land closer to $180 to $350. And
- 1:37where does the money actually go? The shower
- 1:39or tub and the vanity each take about a quarter
- 1:42of a typical budget. Labor is usually 40 to 65
- 1:45percent of the total. And the biggest single
- 1:48jump is moving plumbing, which can add around
- 1:50$5 ,000 on its own. Is it worth it if you plan
- 1:53to sell? A mid -range bathroom remodel recouped
- 1:56about 80 % of its cost at resale in the latest
- 1:59cost versus value report. Upscale remodels recouped
- 2:03about 42%. So if you are selling in a few years,
- 2:07keep the layout and stay mid -range. Quick tips
- 2:10before we wrap? Three. Keep the toilet, shower,
- 2:14and sink where they are. Design around standard
- 2:17sizes so you can use a stock shower door and
- 2:19vanity. And set aside 10 % to 20 % for surprises
- 2:22behind the walls. Then pick every finish before
- 2:25demolition starts. Great advice. The full guide
