- 0:24of the group. I like games, also mostly RPG
- 0:30games As It Gets, I like films and TV.
- 0:36And I love Star Wars and little a little bait pile of stuff.

- 0:54the website enough to listen to the podcast, or if for some
- 0:57reason you her, you're listening to this because some crazy
- 1:01reason people like it. If you've got any ideas for
- 1:04improvements, no, no, absolutely not.

- 1:21it's probably value. Okay.
- 1:33Welcome to the first multiple nerdgasm podcast where your
- 1:36host. So I'm David Rule and this is a
- 1:39Matthew ham, Luke autism, and Daniel Miller, right?
- 1:42And when anyone ever again, I think I sounded a bit gay.
- 1:45No, no, no. That's just Kidding.
- 1:49That was 11 years ago. Do I sound any less gay now?
- 1:53I think I sound a bit and okay, not at all.
- 1:55No, definitely more games necklace.
- 1:57Like well, the same amount, the same gay.
- 1:59Yeah, I think so. Yeah.
- 2:01God, how young were we then? We were babies back then.
- 2:04Yeah, exactly. A little we're old though.
- 2:06We were 30, I never thought you knew everything that we then
- 2:10went from there to actually, you know what, there's one other
- 2:13clip I'd like to play. But I mean, I'll sit on that
- 2:16one. Actually.
- 2:17Okay whore I've got something. Look from now on sendagaya get
- 2:20was, we went from think we know everything through less, we know
- 2:24nothing. Mmm.
- 2:27I realize how little I know every single day.
- 2:29Hmm. Well, then we're not needed
- 2:32anymore. Anyway, this podcast writes
- 2:34itself, and when I say writes itself, what I mean, is a, I
- 2:37write to this podcast now. Yes, because we've got a
- 2:40surprise listeners. We're gonna let me clip.
- 2:42Hmm, and what what? Yeah, why can't we drop on the
- 2:47a, I train everyone else's or we have all the board.
- 2:50Yeah, too good. Yeah, let's have a listen.
- 2:55Quiet on set. Where where am I?
- 3:01You must be the new director. Welcome to the set of the poem
- 3:04massage campaign commercial. Wait a minute, I'm in the past.
- 3:09This is 1976 indeed. It is my friend.
- 3:13Now if you don't mind we have a commercial to shoot places,
- 3:16please. People?
- 3:18Oh my God, I'm directing Orson Welles indeed.
- 3:22You are my young friend places people, places.
- 3:25Now, let's get to work. All right.
- 3:27People were a go. Okay, now, awesome.
- 3:30I want you to look right at the camera and say we sell no wine
- 3:34before its time. We will sell no wine before its
- 3:39time. Okay.
- 3:41Now with more emphasis on no wine, we will sell no wine
- 3:46before its time. Yes that's it.
- 3:51Um, the world are useful for your biggest fan.
- 3:54I have heard of you before. Or how about we spice up this
- 3:59famous line by adding no wine before its time unless you're a
- 4:03time traveler. I'm not sure that's appropriate.
- 4:07My dear boy. Come on Orson.
- 4:09It's a comedy sketch. It'll be funny.
- 4:12I'm afraid. I can't do that.
- 4:15I say well, I guess I'll just go back to my own time then.
- 4:21I should have just stuck to the script.
- 4:25This is what we have to look forward to with AI Riley, cash
- 4:28groups going forward. I have to say so I asked check
- 4:31GPT, can you please write a sketch where Dan travels back in
- 4:35time and directs Orson Welles? And I wasn't expecting much.
- 4:38Then I certainly wasn't expecting that legitimate joke
- 4:42that it wrote about unless you're a tight like no one voice
- 4:46unless you're a time traveler. I don't know how it did that.
- 4:49No. Because listeners for those
- 4:51Don't know in the 70s Alton world's really did star in a
- 4:55series of commercials for Paul Masson wines and their tagline
- 4:59really was we sell no wine before its time.
- 5:02So not only does the a I do its research.
- 5:05It also made a pun and put a Twist in the script based on
- 5:09that punch and I'm not joking. I didn't ask it to do those
- 5:12things. I just saw like, actually I'd
- 5:14locked on, and I said, first of all, I say, can you write?
- 5:19I said some stupid thing about the podcast that I was like, all
- 5:22right, that's fine. And I said, could you write a
- 5:24sketch where Danielle's back in time and director Orson Welles
- 5:26in a TV commercial? And that's what and it
- 5:28literally, what you just heard. Yeah.
- 5:30Filled in all the blanks yet. Amazing?
- 5:33Yeah, amazing, I mean pretty good but for pretty good
- 5:38infinitely better than I was expecting.
- 5:40What I mean that that certainly inspired me to go and check out
- 5:43the app. I ignored it until then and I
- 5:46asked it to write a letter to you from Ron Gilbert saying that
- 5:50bastard. He was using some of your old
- 5:53Monkey Island fanfiction to be the premise of the new game and
- 5:56then I asked it to do a text conversation between Luke and
- 5:59Natalie Portman saying that she regretted not saying yes.
- 6:01We asked her out all those years ago and one that I didn't tell
- 6:05you guys about. I also wrote one asked it to
- 6:08write one conversation where Dave, admits to me that he's
- 6:13been gay or this time. You said that to me, I did send
- 6:18it to him. Yeah.
- 6:18But it was its sheer fantasy. See because the Dan in that text
- 6:23message was very, very understanding and didn't make
- 6:27fun of me. We're in real life.
- 6:31I would just be pointing out every homophobic slur.
- 6:34He's made in his entire life. Oh yeah, back on the irony of it
- 6:38all. Hmm, correct.
- 6:39Yeah, mmm. But well, I just like it's come
- 6:42a long way, remember used to see scripts floating around like
- 6:44that I wrote this, and it makes no sense.
- 6:47Yeah. Yeah, whatever.
- 6:48Yeah. It's sort of start off well and
- 6:50then just go completely off. The Royals.
- 6:52This had a start a middle and an ending.
- 6:55Yeah. And a joke like a joke and I've
- 6:58squiggled I Googled the no one before its time unless you're a
- 7:02time traveler in case that something it means from
- 7:04somewhere or like, is that something?
- 7:06I'm just not some joke that exists.
- 7:07Sorry that I can't find anything like no no I've not heard of
- 7:10that and I am extremely up-to-date on the also dwells in
- 7:14years. I'm Paul Masson.
- 7:16Yeah, I tried to get some Paul Masson and I think it's a
- 7:21Available because it wrote it and I was reading through it.
- 7:24I'm like, okay, this is fine. This is fine.
- 7:25Wait a minute. What the fuck.
- 7:27How did it do that? Like, so I found a practical use
- 7:30for it actually. So I I'm trying to lick really
- 7:34quickly, by the way, I gotta say.
- 7:35It just spatter. Yeah.
- 7:36Like it does it almost instantly, right?
- 7:39Yeah. So interesting.
- 7:41I guess what it doesn't need is time because it just processes.
- 7:45Yeah. Right.
- 7:46Like the fact that we would even think it would have to think
- 7:50about it over. Time and then ride it is because
- 7:53our brains are limited in ways. It is not well, because I was
- 7:57thinking like, how long would it take me to sit down and get
- 7:59those pieces and come up with that gag?
- 8:01No wonder for its time unless your time travel because Dan
- 8:03travel back in time and it's just so yeah, it's clever.
- 8:07And when you came up with it, you'd be like, oh that's a good
- 8:09one. That's right, that down.
- 8:11Yeah, huh impressed. Yeah I I've started use it.
- 8:17Well yes. Okay, so I'm trying to write
- 8:19something in the moment and I find It I find it easy to come
- 8:22up with ideas and then I find it easy to edit shitty riding into
- 8:27good writing. Yeah.
- 8:28But that part of just writing the initial stuff down just
- 8:32putting pen to paper is the hardest part so I have.
- 8:35Is it something at work? People will come up with like
- 8:38the I asked me to like review minutes, you have you something
- 8:40and I go yep. Oh this is not need to get rid
- 8:42that change that to this and I can tell you, I was suddenly
- 8:45you're a genius. Yeah.
- 8:47But for me to sit there and write they don't even know he
- 8:50can't Put it all this one, little one.
- 8:53Right? I completely agree.
- 8:55I'm the same and chat gbt fills in that gap for you because you
- 8:59just punch in a bunch of data that's just a mind vomit and it
- 9:04goes. Okay, well let me write your
- 9:05first draft and then you go. Okay, Enter not bad.
- 9:08Yeah, I'll take it from here ingesting.
- 9:11All right, still hasn't been taught to be racist shit now,
- 9:14but it won't it will get it there.
- 9:16Yeah, I'll guarantee you. There are just hundreds of
- 9:19people. That's all they're trying to do.
- 9:21Get me racist. Mmm, so we have it.
- 9:23I don't know that we said it yet but obviously, it'll it's
- 9:26obvious from the episode title, this is our 500th episode.
- 9:29Yeah, I can believe it. Yeah, well I mean they said we
- 9:33wouldn't make it to 100 and by they I mean people who have run
- 9:36on the spot, the very first person who spoke ever on this
- 9:40podcast as evidence from the clip I played at the start.
- 9:43Yeah, still feels like we've done the last 400 faster than we
- 9:47did the first 100. Well because we were very Casual
- 9:51about it in the begins. Well, remember the first it was
- 9:54we all we have to all be together, right?
- 9:58And that's how we had to do it. So we would record for episodes
- 10:01that are time because I was traveling up from.
- 10:03Yeah. And we were suddenly that hide
- 10:04on the news. Not only that, we were, we were
- 10:07all together more often back then.
- 10:09Whereas now, I mean, even when we were, you know, those of us
- 10:13who were in, were in Sydney for a while, there was a period
- 10:16where we're busy and stuff like that.
- 10:17And so this is a good excuse every week to hang out and chat.
- 10:20Yes. Yes, sir, work out quite well.
- 10:23Because, if we weren't doing this, I don't think we'd be
- 10:25talking really much anymore. I won't talk to you fuckers.
- 10:28Nah. Hmm.
- 10:29I only talked exclusively to people.
- 10:31I'm on podcasts with. That's right.
- 10:34That's right. I'm just waiting for Joe Rogan
- 10:35to call and then I want you guys anymore.
- 10:39He'll be my new friend and that 500 another 500 to come.
- 10:43See 500. Yeah.
- 10:44How are you going to think so? We got 11 years will still be
- 10:46around. It took really mean to get so
- 10:49that you reckon another another 11 years will get Thousand.
- 10:51No, no, I do it faster. Yeah, I can 51.
- 10:55Hang on a minute. We can figure this out, fifty to
- 10:56eighty eight, so we do it. We're doing Roger.
- 10:58Maybe 50. Don't reckon.
- 11:00We can, we take a Hiatus for Christmas?
- 11:02Yeah. So, 50 year.
- 11:04So what's 10 years? 10 years?
- 11:06Okay, so that's not okay, so, it's been about right?
- 11:09Yeah. Fine now, good shit.
- 11:13So yeah, we take it a year off now, back at that first episode,
- 11:17and I've not listen to that for a while, but I am going to
- 11:20assume we talked about Our Wars. Yes.
- 11:23I'm going to assume we all infected in on there's something
- 11:26I'd like to show you. Oh sure.
- 11:28Something contradictory. It's it contradicts something
- 11:31that we think we know about Daniel Miller or who is it?
- 11:36That I didn't know what a boffin was.
- 11:38Let's just have a listen to this clip films and TV and I like
- 11:44Star Wars. No, I don't.
- 11:51I died a fucking hates. I was that more than 11 years
- 11:55ago, love. So yeah, you know what, Dan 11
- 11:58years ago had was still trying to convince himself, the
- 12:01prequels all, okay. And hadn't seen though.
- 12:04I'm the, the, the 40 minutes that follow that clip was
- 12:09shitting on the Blu-ray. Release all over it.
- 12:15The colors are God, the inconsistency of that beer
- 12:18lightsaber River bike. I would have brought it I watch
- 12:21The special features never watch the actual movies from the good
- 12:24good because the movies in that version were awful, not there's
- 12:28any good way to watch The Originals anymore even the D
- 12:30specialized and I do find it. Ironic that the the you've heard
- 12:34the audio quality there for guys, on a podcast with that
- 12:38level of audio quality. We've critiquing the quality of
- 12:42the film. It's a cloud.
- 12:44That's what critique is. You don't have to be able to do
- 12:47better in order to critique something.
- 12:49That's actually an interesting point that So, I mean, this is a
- 12:52fair enough time to mention that I've, I've been down a Star Wars
- 12:57Rabbit Hole this week. Yeah, I mentioned you guys.
- 13:00I watched sorry. Oh, that was sorry.
- 13:02We're sorry Craig. Skip ahead to just chapter
- 13:05markers and so I'll try to go on for too long.
- 13:06Well, no, please. If she was a lot to talk about.
- 13:09Yeah, but I've reached a really interesting video that I sent
- 13:12you guys. That was a rebuttal to that
- 13:14house style was was saved in the edit and I Rocket Jump.
- 13:18Now, I used to I used to watch a lot of rockets.
- 13:21Jump back in the day and then they got a bit too big for their
- 13:24boots and so I stopped watching this.
- 13:28This is got a fucking, poor it to shreds.
- 13:30Yeah and and to be honest like pretty can see they have a lot
- 13:34of evidence for he went back to the primary sources that they
- 13:37looked at and blown it out that they conveniently left out.
- 13:41A lot of information in one particular piece of information
- 13:44is that like their video says the their videos kind of saying
- 13:49the point of it all is that Lucas is an idiot and Star Wars
- 13:52was successful, despite him. And because of the work of a few
- 13:57other people, his video is movie was saved by other people and he
- 14:00was a dumb-dumb. And I don't believe that no.
- 14:03Well, this video point if you want.
- 14:05Proof of that, this is the head. Which movies were talking about
- 14:09this, this, this video Point, remember them.
- 14:11When there was just a movie called Star Wars.
- 14:14Yeah. Well, because they imply in that
- 14:16in that Rocket Jump video, that they don't mention that there
- 14:20was an editor. Before Marcia Lucas and the
- 14:23others. They just employ.
- 14:25It's implied that George was trying to Fumble through it and
- 14:27just made a mess of it. There was he hired someone to do
- 14:30it? He fired that person for doing
- 14:32it shit job and then they came on and clean up the mess.
- 14:35But the way that they portrayed is that these people came on and
- 14:38he didn't know what he was doing.
- 14:39Yeah. So it's just and it was
- 14:41different you. It is true that he had a
- 14:43screening with Spielberg and Brian De Palma, and said, what
- 14:47do you think? And they were like, well, I mean
- 14:49there's obviously a lot of Placeholder.
- 14:52Yes, special effects and you know shots from other movies.
- 14:55Put in, let's discuss that and maybe we can find out what you
- 14:59were going to. What you're going to do in
- 15:00those. Yeah.
- 15:01How are you going to fix that? Yeah but but the rocketjump
- 15:04video implied that they saw the first cut and said well this is
- 15:09terrible. But actually this guy proves
- 15:12that they actually watched the fourth edit after Marshall
- 15:15Lucas. And at already am in they'd
- 15:17already overhauled it. They'd already removed Biggs
- 15:19they'd already removed all of Of the other deleted stuff that
- 15:23already reshot the solo stuff later.
- 15:25Yeah just oh look yeah a lot of that stuff in there is factually
- 15:29it m. It seems based on the evidence
- 15:31provided just not true. So I think it's very interesting
- 15:35that coming. I think they'll coming in at
- 15:36from an angle to make it look like that's that was their goal
- 15:41that's fine. Except that they called it a
- 15:43video essay. Yeah.
- 15:44It's become very trendy to say that George Lucas is an idiot
- 15:49who just got lucky. And there's a whole YouTube
- 15:52culture around there. Now, like the red letter Media
- 15:54stuff, doesn't they kind of started it to be honest?
- 15:56Yeah. Yeah.
- 15:58Because it's another video, another video.
- 15:59I watched pointed out how, like, literally, every every video on
- 16:02the internet, just steal stuff from the red letter media one,
- 16:05they just read the thing about red letter is they love Star
- 16:08Wars. Yeah, they hate, they hate that.
- 16:10It was taken in the direction that we also criticized, but
- 16:13they actually have a lot of love for Star Wars, which is why they
- 16:15spent fucking hours discussing and deconstructing that And
- 16:21people just go see they hate it and they take it and run with
- 16:24it. The reason why I don't think
- 16:25it's a case of George. Lucas being lucky is I love his
- 16:30first three movies? Yeah and he was up for an Oscar
- 16:32before then too. So here's the thing that people
- 16:34don't really remember. If George, Lucas never made Star
- 16:37Wars, he would still be famous as the guy who made American
- 16:41Graffiti because your people Star Wars popularity dwarfed
- 16:46that of American defeat it in ways that what everybody would
- 16:49describe. But what people Don't realize is
- 16:52that, that was an incredibly popular movie and then his name
- 16:56was well-known for being the person behind that movie.
- 17:00Yes. Yeah.
- 17:01And he actually, it could, he actually even with American
- 17:03Graffiti he is someone else wrote the script and came back
- 17:07with it and he went no this is terrible and he hates writing
- 17:11screenplays, which he should stick with.
- 17:13Not like there's a reason but he went back and rewrote that all
- 17:16and turned that into what it was.
- 17:17Let's give original script was hot rods racing.
- 17:20Everywhere it was Of it like a drag movie, then that is being
- 17:22sort of a side component to it. I don't talk about drag in front
- 17:26of Matt more on that, in the after party, also got a limb and
- 17:33I'll say, the THX 1138 is one of my top three favorite science,
- 17:38fiction, films of all time. So, you can look, you side with
- 17:40THX 1138. American Graffiti.
- 17:42Then Star Wars. Yeah, that's a pretty good track
- 17:45record. Yeah, what he went on to do
- 17:47later is I think, yeah. But what you've got to remember
- 17:50is that also I was a producer in that time to and he produced
- 17:53Indiana Jones, he produced Willow.
- 17:55He produced Poltergeist. He produced Goonies, he produced
- 17:58every movie. You love Howard, the Duck, fuck
- 18:01it out. Maybe I can find love in the
- 18:04animal kingdom. Well I'll link to some of the
- 18:09videos that I liked. There's four that I've got in
- 18:12here that I'll link to it. So I thought they pretty much
- 18:13treat you like Styles. Check them out.
- 18:15If you don't like Star Wars, avoid them like the plague, they
- 18:16like hours long. It's just, yeah, one thing, I'll
- 18:19say that they do A very good job.
- 18:22These guys will love George Lucas and these guys often like
- 18:24the prequels to. And they point out that red
- 18:26letter media and other critics criticize things they don't like
- 18:31about the prequels but they don't explore engage with why?
- 18:35The things are that way mmm-hmm, and they do that in these
- 18:38videos. And I mean, it's very
- 18:40convincing, it's very interesting.
- 18:42But at the end of the day, if I pause the video and think about
- 18:45it for a minute, we're still talking about The Phantom
- 18:47Menace, so which is still a lot of love.
- 18:51Buster Keaton. And those scenes of Jar, Jar,
- 18:54goofing around and shooting droids copies or not copies, but
- 18:58homages to the bus turkey necks do know.
- 19:02However, one of them is in that context, it doesn't work.
- 19:05Yeah. Look what think what really
- 19:07happened was? If we go back to like original
- 19:08Star Wars, reset down with Spielberg and stuff and showed
- 19:11it, he was getting advice when he set down and showed off
- 19:14Phantom Menace. He was around people who are
- 19:17just going, Georges leekens, you're the greatest person ever,
- 19:19hmm? Also they're They designed all
- 19:21the characters before he'd written the script and then we
- 19:24have written a script. They filmed that first-draft
- 19:27script. Like, you know how many
- 19:28different people wrote On The Empire Strikes Back?
- 19:33Like, oh yeah, everyone even your original Star Wars, the
- 19:36original Star Wars, script had no humans in it.
- 19:39Yeah, I mean, the first draft was set in the year 3000 and had
- 19:42dragons in it. Then it was all robots and
- 19:45aliens and Mace Windu was dropped riding a dragon.
- 19:47It he went from getting using back and getting advice.
- 19:51And people to being surrounded by people just we're agreeing
- 19:54with whatever he was drection. He was wanting to go and I
- 19:57think, yeah, the problem I think he bought into his own because I
- 20:00can see they've got lots of Clips in this him, talking
- 20:02about, you know, all the layers and metaphors and you know, it's
- 20:05Anakin's descent into hell and this represents that and this
- 20:08and this is an homage to that and it's like, yeah.
- 20:10But the movie, that's George. That's Film School talk, you
- 20:13know, like that's that's a film scholar talking about film
- 20:16history and film Theory and that's great.
- 20:18And that's actually what he's the best that it's Kind of sad,
- 20:21though. You know what he did this in the
- 20:23first movie is like and that's the result.
- 20:26The Jedi are Samurai. You know what I mean?
- 20:29Like in, they are and they've even dressed like some, like, he
- 20:31didn't hide any, who Quentin Tarantino that first movie.
- 20:35You know, what I mean? In a really great way stole from
- 20:38the best, and you created a really great movie, all of the,
- 20:43all of the dog fight scenes between the Tie fighters in the
- 20:46x-wings were stolen from his favorite world, war two movies
- 20:49and everything shot in the desert.
- 20:51Stolen from Lawrence of Arabia yet, like he is Grand and
- 20:57everything with the droids are stolen from Hidden Fortress by
- 20:59Akira Kurosawa and that's why it's great.
- 21:02He's awesome shots best. Yeah.
- 21:04Yeah, for sure shots. Yeah, there's another, actually
- 21:07course Curacao. We used to just copy John, Ford
- 21:10and Sergio Leone so they all did.
- 21:12That's that's yeah. There's two other things I
- 21:14wanted to mention just quickly and and then we can move on if
- 21:16you want to. So one was that there was a
- 21:19comparison that I thought was really interesting.
- 21:20I No. This this it was a shot side by
- 21:23side shot comparison of the podrace with film, from the 60s,
- 21:27called Grand Prix. And at first, I was watching it,
- 21:30I'm like, oh my God, that the shots are exactly the same and
- 21:32then you find out. George.
- 21:34Lucas was a cameraman on the film Grand Prix in the 60s and
- 21:37he just made the podrace the same thing.
- 21:39He shot back in the 60s. That's interesting.
- 21:41That is interesting and he is a car Enthusiast like he's a
- 21:45racing enthusiasts. Like it's quite interesting but
- 21:47not copying the shot. I would have liked His shot but
- 21:53it's great that it wasn't no marginality such a shock, but I
- 21:56would have quite happily skipped 30 minutes of a padre.
- 21:59Yeah, yeah, yeah, correct you. But he thought that film was
- 22:01exciting in a 60s so I bet he was go to something else.
- 22:05They go to another shop that had that same part and that would
- 22:08just sell it to you. Like, why are back for more
- 22:11money? Like why did you have to dig
- 22:13about with this boy for so long? And one other thing I thought
- 22:16was interesting and it ties into what you know George Lucas
- 22:18doesn't like Empire Strikes Back.
- 22:20Yes. Talked about this before he Haze
- 22:22that we like it. There's a point that in this
- 22:25way, they met them, because everyone talks about how the the
- 22:27shots are kind of boring in the prequels.
- 22:30The kind of boring in Star Wars as well, because he has a very
- 22:33particular F intentional. They have Clips were talking
- 22:35about this. He thinks the camera should be
- 22:38out of the way, put the actors in the frame and just film him
- 22:41doing stuff like a documentary. Like, if you were just filming
- 22:44exactly doing stuff. The camera, it shouldn't be
- 22:47drawing attention to itself. As should just be there film and
- 22:49stuff, and that's how style was Return of the Jedis more like
- 22:52that Empire Strikes Back, has a lot of artsy shots that he
- 22:56probably fucking hates like one in particular.
- 22:58There's one when the doors are closing on Hoth and is like a
- 23:02slow zoom in The Princess Leia's face.
- 23:04He specifically said in the past, he fucking hates that, she
- 23:07really. Yeah, but that's how we get
- 23:10inside their feelings as the camera speaks to us in the
- 23:13Cinematic language. I guarantee if he was still
- 23:18directing making movies as he was, he'd be all into this deep
- 23:22fake stuff now because he doesn't want actors.
- 23:25He likes people to read his lines.
- 23:27He's like now, I can make a lie, Portman do whatever I want.
- 23:31Yeah, look looks face lit up when you say that.
- 23:35Oh no II. Find that deep fake stuff
- 23:38terrible. No I don't think I made some
- 23:41sort of crazy. You can make Natalie Portman do
- 23:43whatever you want. Did you see that twitch
- 23:45streamer? That got work order part of it.
- 23:47Did you see that? Luke know you followed which
- 23:49one? I don't know.
- 23:50He's all the Yeah, all that twitch guy who was caught he was
- 23:53streaming any crumbs. Yeah the Chrome's have overdone
- 23:56it was a deep fun toward paid site of a of one of these fakes
- 24:00to look up other streaming his friends.
- 24:03Yes. Looking at Deep fake porn of his
- 24:06friends. Who are other streamers girls.
- 24:08I got like four, guys. You guys don't look like deep
- 24:11fake porn of each other. You got caught on a stream and
- 24:14then had to sit there and be confront and I can his wife
- 24:17confronted him like on stream is all like there's this, it's God.
- 24:20God. And then it's just so do not
- 24:23like creepy deep fake stuff. It's, it's terrible.
- 24:27I think. Hmm.
- 24:29I mean, it's terrible, if it's porn and if it's against
- 24:32somebody's will, if it's George. Lucas just making a movie and
- 24:35putting John Wayne and no, no, I'm not sure what.
- 24:38I don't think thinking about, if it's porn, it's just if it's
- 24:40against someone's will. Hmm.
- 24:43The forget about that. Like it's you taking someone's
- 24:45likeness and making them do something and at the end the day
- 24:49that was they'll making them do that.
- 24:51To make money. Yeah.
- 24:52Well, I mean, this kind of thing was flagged in the 80s when yes,
- 24:57James Cameron, or Back to the Future, is a good was going to
- 24:59say, yeah. They modeled the actor on, they
- 25:03actually put a, you know, a fake nose on, and you acted to make
- 25:05him look like Crispin Glover. He sued, and he won, and then a
- 25:09lien three. Yeah.
- 25:11James Cameron alien Harvest. It was yeah.
- 25:16Michael biehn. And who's the director?
- 25:18David Fincher? Used a photo.
- 25:20Though of I would like to see James Cameron, direct Bill Hicks
- 25:24in an alien. Yeah.
- 25:27Yeah. Why don't we all just take
- 25:28fucking drugs become the there was a photo of Michael biehn,
- 25:36what? From him being on.
- 25:38Oh yeah. That's right.
- 25:48And the words deceased next to him right?
- 25:50Yeah. And Bill Paxton went.
- 25:52That's my fucking photo. You didn't ask me Michael.
- 25:55Biehn, might not think it's my photo.
- 25:57Oh yeah. And then they, they duked it
- 25:59out. Michael biehn, sorry.
- 26:02Welcome to mybinding one because yeah.
- 26:05Bill Paxton is no longer with us.
- 26:06So, oh, you saying Michael biehn be impacted.
- 26:10And I'm just asking questions that listeners can figure it out
- 26:13for himself. Do your own research throwbacks.
- 26:21Before we get off, hold on. Before we get off the topic of
- 26:26deep, fakes and special effects as a segue.
- 26:29I'm wondering, guys know that people aren't kissing each other
- 26:33in movies anymore. They're using CGI to kiss
- 26:37really. I briefly saw something about
- 26:40this way more than you think. Right?
- 26:43Franklin jealous fault. They were like, you know what,
- 26:45maybe we don't need old men. I've got a list here of movies
- 26:48where the kisses aren't real, right?
- 26:50Don't ruin. A last kiss for me then.
- 26:55If I had a dollar for every time, you've said that to me,
- 26:59get out of my bedroom. So there's been so there's a
- 27:02film out at the moment, right? Called you people.
- 27:06Mike what do you mean you people?
- 27:09Oh no. I think that's what it's about,
- 27:11right? Okay.
- 27:12It's all right. Well I mean look I don't know.
- 27:14But it does have some African-Americans in it and I
- 27:16think that's probably that's probably the context of it but
- 27:19there's a there's a moment where and I want to get this, right?
- 27:23There's a moment where Jonah Hill.
- 27:26Hmm. And somebody London ameria
- 27:31ameria London kiss, but they didn't want to kiss.
- 27:38So, let us show character named. Okay, regardless, they didn't
- 27:42want to kiss want to kiss special effects, kiss hereupon,
- 27:46she repulses him. I'll make sure the I've got some
- 27:58other some other reasons why other films to ask but have not
- 28:02so pretty down and what about think is quite a good one?
- 28:05Are you talking about Harry Potter?
- 28:07The Harry Potter? When I think it's a good reason
- 28:08to. Yeah.
- 28:09So when they filmed, no, I haven't seen this Harry Potter
- 28:12movie because I achieved out of the bank Goblet of Fire.
- 28:15Yeah. I dropped out of Harry Potter.
- 28:17That ones. I've seen it it's 100 and Harry.
- 28:21Sure. No, it's Harry and Ginny.
- 28:25Oh sure. Okay.
- 28:26Gz when they filmed that he had already turned 18, she hadn't.
- 28:32Oh, okay. And so they were like, you can't
- 28:36and the actors are like, not let us do it.
- 28:38And they like, you can't. And if we're doing it right now,
- 28:41right? In front of you, we can't see.
- 28:45Yeah. Okay.
- 28:47I mean, I got so then I'm like using CGI allowed the filmmakers
- 28:50to still include Kiss between the characters.
- 28:53But in an age-appropriate way except it's sorry, they would
- 28:58ya. But yeah, I mean I know this is
- 29:00just the Articles wording but that makes it sound even
- 29:02creepier. Yeah, we may think that we make
- 29:05some kids kiss, but it's okay because we did it in a computer.
- 29:08Yeah, look, look, here's a video I've made of me kissing of Mary
- 29:12young kid. It's fine because idea using
- 29:15Leonardo, DiCaprio's not allowed to kiss his girlfriend so he
- 29:18does it on the computer. That's right.
- 29:20Did you say that tweet? This week, we're where somebody
- 29:24tweeted, I feel who always, but they tweeted, maybe women just
- 29:27get bored of Leonardo once they turn about 25.
- 29:31Yeah. But there are other reasons and
- 29:38as far as I know, that's the only reason that's the only film
- 29:41where the we don't want them to come across as pedophiles has
- 29:46one movie. I can't remember what leads but
- 29:48they weren't, they had to do it because they'd already sort of
- 29:50finished filming and I had to do two keys at separate times.
- 29:54I forget what movie. It will ya.
- 29:55There's a bit of that. There's also been covid fears.
- 29:59You know people here. Yeah.
- 30:00Just don't want to kiss anyone during covid and also,
- 30:03apparently, Kristen Stewart, your favorite actress we haven't
- 30:09spoken about for a while. When when Robert Pattinson was
- 30:14asked to kiss her. He said I'd rather go across the
- 30:16hall and it's literally repulses him.
- 30:20Yeah, so she does. Ulsan.
- 30:22But I'm sure he repulses her because she's a lesbian as far
- 30:24as I know. Right.
- 30:25So they eventually break up. Someone's marriage by Sleeping
- 30:28with her. Someone's husband child.
- 30:30Yeah bitches well but the director of Snow White.
- 30:34Yeah. William you bank was it or was?
- 30:36No is ribbit. Ribbit Sanders was one of those
- 30:40show. It's one of those guys is one of
- 30:41those two people could be. Maybe she's just a terrible
- 30:46person. It was the guy who directed The
- 30:49live-action ODST trailer. Don't that guy.
- 30:52He talked about back in the day. That's right.
- 30:54Yeah, ended his career, pretty much too.
- 30:57And he was, he was married to Atticus Ross as sister.
- 31:00That's who he cheated on Jesus Christ.
- 31:02That's a, that's like, all right.
- 31:05Yeah, like George Lucas. How do you do?
- 31:07Such passion that, I know. Right.
- 31:09But anyway, to finish the story, they kissed on film normally and
- 31:14then in the daily things like they were watching.
- 31:17It's like human beings and like like a 400 year old.
- 31:21Old would kiss, an 18 year old? Yeah.
- 31:23If we don't collect all, that's not appropriately better CGI
- 31:26that up. Yeah.
- 31:26No, no. So they really kissed, but then
- 31:28when they watched it back they The Producers said to each
- 31:31other, they do not like it. They are not attracted to one
- 31:35another like, right? So is there something we can do
- 31:39with special effects to make them more kissy to make?
- 31:42So yeah, to make it look like they're really getting into it.
- 31:46Hmm. The other one.
- 31:48I'm actually that surprises me is part of the Caribbean at
- 31:51World's End in the way they would it is great in one of the
- 31:53scenes, the kiss between Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner
- 31:56was enhanced with CGI. Like they put tongues in a cell
- 32:00like Davy Jones is in the background.
- 32:01We have got the three examples and they give reasons for the
- 32:08first two but for the parts that could read.
- 32:10It's just weird. No, reasonable human enhance but
- 32:15what did they change? I mean, not that it matters that
- 32:19movies. I haven't seen that one.
- 32:22I've got the best soundtrack but it's the worst one like movie
- 32:25overall II dropped out about, after the first movie.
- 32:29I watched the one with the crabs, which ones that the crabs
- 32:32crabs move a boat, right? Oh, that's this one.
- 32:35Yeah, that's, that's this one. Yeah, that was fucking garbage.
- 32:38Yeah, I'm making another one, they've made two more, they've
- 32:43made it. This far.
- 32:44I think in Tokyo, but aren't after the trial, weren't they
- 32:47throwing money him to make another?
- 32:49I don't know. Is there any obvious See,
- 32:51there's some without Johnny Depp or there isn't no, no think
- 32:55there is no, you don't need all the pain and then there's one
- 33:02with the guy who played Julius Caesar in Rome.
- 33:06Oh shit. Okay.
- 33:07He's the villain kick. Kick kick.
- 33:10Yeah. And I respect the guy from The
- 33:12Terror. Yeah, yeah I love him.
- 33:14He's also an Excalibur. Sure.
- 33:17I don't hit that. I don't think they'll even
- 33:18attempt to make a pirates without they will.
- 33:21They'll just For it to blow over my dad.
- 33:23Watch a buddy comedy between Ian McShane and that guy who played
- 33:26Caesar in Rome for sure different film.
- 33:29They're not hiring one party buddy cop.
- 33:31Yeah bring him back. Yeah because until you and find
- 33:33another brought him in one they brought fucking what's his name?
- 33:38Barbosa back. So why not bring others back?
- 33:41Barbosa was dead, they brought him back the the Aussie guy.
- 33:45The guy from The King's Speech what's his name?
- 33:48Oh yeah Geoffrey Geoffrey Rush Shhhh, you're not allowed to put
- 33:53him in stuff anymore, Matt, but I didn't do it.
- 33:56They, he got his dick out. Matt, you can't get your dick
- 33:59out together all the time. Yeah.
- 34:02But did you get him? Did you get your dick out in
- 34:04front of that? Girl, from Orange, is the New
- 34:06Black. Know.
- 34:07He did though and so he's not allowed to be in movies anymore.
- 34:10It's going to see which go, but I haven't seen it.
- 34:12So it's not going to help. Look, we've got some other.
- 34:14Fake did fake news. That that ideas, think news
- 34:17Norfolk news the fake. No, no, no.
- 34:19Tariff would be faking is 0. Or which apparently fight
- 34:23because the way he's describing the way they D aged him, it's
- 34:27just deep fakes. They took footage from The
- 34:30Cutting Room floor from the old Indie movies, okay?
- 34:34And used it to deep fake him from now, back to what he looked
- 34:38like back then. And of course the reason why
- 34:40this deep fake is different is because he can tell you about
- 34:43it. If you agree to anything
- 34:44hateful. Yeah, those three seasons and
- 34:49whatever you want, least at least two of those.
- 34:51And ago and I don't leer as do what you want.
- 34:58I don't give a shit. Where is my wife.
- 35:04Yeah. So he reckons, this is really
- 35:05good. He said he watched any was like,
- 35:07oh, it just looks like they found some old footage.
- 35:10Okay. Then again, they are well, who
- 35:11else a lot of money to say that so.
- 35:13Yeah. Say yeah, but can I just say,
- 35:16let's just make a whole bunch of young.
- 35:18Harrison Ford movies. Now, what are we doing?
- 35:20Why are we wasting our time making Any other movies?
- 35:23Yeah, that's their winking behind him going.
- 35:25Don't worry guys in yeah it's forever.
- 35:28Yeah they got him to sign something.
- 35:30Yeah, we did no one else but him will be Harrison Ford.
- 35:35We're making a lot more movies even after he's dead.
- 35:37Well I mean James L Jones took a big paycheck and let them
- 35:42sample, just voice so that they can write him say anything.
- 35:45In a Darth Vader voice for the rest of Eternity.
- 35:48So maybe Harrison Ford's gonna agree to that too.
- 35:51I hope he does. But then one thing is unless I
- 35:55do the whole thing sort of CGI, it sort of sucks for the person
- 35:59who actually does actually play the character.
- 36:01Hmm. That they get Chris Brackett,
- 36:04some people are just a stuntman. They're happy to just stand here
- 36:07is Chris Pratt. You just do the voice.
- 36:09Did you guys see that video? Where legal eagle tallied up all
- 36:13of the crimes that Indiana Jones committed during Raiders of the
- 36:16Lost Ark? I haven't.
- 36:18So, yeah, it's very funny. So he went through and he
- 36:20actually, like there's a lot. Of wrongful death.
- 36:23There's there's there's one or two straight up murders but then
- 36:27there's a lot of like when he just drives the truck through
- 36:29this shoddily, hastily made construction site and people
- 36:33just fall off the building. He's like, well, they're all
- 36:35dead. And so that's, that's
- 36:38manslaughter. And then of course as we've
- 36:40discussed many times, he also adds the statutory rape charge.
- 36:45Yeah. Yeah, which is Canon.
- 36:50This is he says that to he's like and just when you think I'm
- 36:53reading too far into this, this one is the proof.
- 36:57It's yelled out for you. Well, we get to find out if the
- 36:59movie is good on the 30th of June.
- 37:02Yes, not so it's very soon. So it's got young Indian it and
- 37:05one thing it doesn't have in it is any jokes about him being old
- 37:08because Harrison Ford was like, that's not funny.
- 37:10No one cares. Yeah.
- 37:11Well, I think it didn't do draw attention to it.
- 37:13You groaning, either? What's that?
- 37:16I didn't work in the Crystal Skull.
- 37:18No, I think he knows that. That's what you said.
- 37:19Don't get me wrong. Funny, that's not why that movie
- 37:21sucked. No, no, no.
- 37:23But I think he regrets like people don't want to be reminded
- 37:26that he's old. If he's doing stuff, just don't
- 37:28worry about it. He said there's one of why am I
- 37:32still doing this joke? And that's it right?
- 37:34Yeah, but yeah, it doesn't need to be a real thing.
- 37:36It's a trailer. I belong in a museum?
- 37:39Yeah, I've pissed my pants. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:47Yeah, well, I mean the most iconic scene in Raiders was shot
- 37:50because he was shitting in his own pants.
- 37:54Yes, that's true. There you go.
- 37:55They all were. It's like poetry it Rhymes.
- 37:58We would have said that was murder.
- 38:00Yeah. Yes he did.
- 38:03He said he said a lot of people would like would try to argue.
- 38:08He said, like, Indies lawyer would try to argue that that was
- 38:10self-defense, but yes, there's no actual threat.
- 38:14The guy had a sword but he wasn't near him.
- 38:17It wasn't coming. Why is waving it around?
- 38:19Yeah. And Indie had a fucking gun.
- 38:24So he was he really showed grateful.
- 38:26He was just a street juggler. I fucking love that movie.
- 38:32So good, and I'll fight anyone who says Indiana, Jones doesn't
- 38:36change the plot of that movie, he fucking does.
- 38:38And also, it's not about that mmm-hmm, this is a, it's a
- 38:43great, it's a great fun, family movies, our family movie.
- 38:46When I It was when I grew up, man.
- 38:48Yeah, probably. I probably wouldn't put it on
- 38:50for my kids, have kids watch face is melting as often as we
- 38:53used to as a kids. Yeah.
- 38:54And yeah, do the kids. These days hate the Nazis like
- 38:57we did. Well, it was a lot closer to the
- 39:00war when we some of them are not see, it was only 30 years on the
- 39:03internet. Yeah.
- 39:07Yeah, like when we were kids out granddad's, we're still like
- 39:10don't trust the fucking Germans. Yeah not my mind wasn't
- 39:15obviously you know they trust me English Maddie.
- 39:22Yeah, we've got some follow-up in particular.
- 39:27Dan you were asking about. Aux fucking I was I want Nate
- 39:34was like I know Portuguese. Fuck.
- 39:36Yeah. And he's written in thank you
- 39:38there and then good on your way that.
- 39:41So I'm going to read this, right?
- 39:42So this is a just question. Dan was questioning the fact
- 39:46there are no female aux, right? Yeah.
- 39:47And all the Rings. And all right.
- 39:49So this is this is who and what do they fuck?
- 39:53Okay. I'm just going to read it
- 39:55because I can paraphrase, leave. Please do please do back in the
- 39:58very early days before the fall of the And city of gondolin
- 40:01morgoth had a habit of hunting and capturing any elves, he
- 40:04found in the wild he tortured and he mutilated them.
- 40:07But the weird part and I don't ever gave up gondolin, okay,
- 40:11this even applied after the old broken.
- 40:13These elves were both male and female and after centuries
- 40:15underground they took on the name orc recently in rings of
- 40:19power. We see one of these Orcs for the
- 40:21first time. Even in all talking is writing
- 40:23was never an original orc as a character.
- 40:25Of course, these Orcs fucked over the generations.
- 40:29Of course. Fucking they started taking what
- 40:31else are you gonna do down there over time?
- 40:35They started taking on the more orc like appearance.
- 40:39But the originals were still around they broke off into
- 40:41because of inbreeding which includes goblins.
- 40:45Yes, there were female donkey Hobbit movies.
- 40:47This one off of thousands of years then morgoth has finally
- 40:49beaten and the Orcs or vanished until they came back from
- 40:52underground. Following Sauron now in the new
- 40:54show, the original Oak that is still around is a direct threat
- 40:57to Sauron, because he has genuine.
- 40:59LT of the younger Orcs. Okay.
- 41:02So I can watch the finger pass. I don't know what that's about,
- 41:05but he's right, it's confusing. I am, I am came to watch that
- 41:08because Tolkien wrote two different versions of all creep
- 41:11reduction because he was a fucking sick bastard because he,
- 41:15he was thorough. Yeah, they were.
- 41:17I'm not gonna question. I'm not gonna sit here and write
- 41:20a language for everyone without describing their genitals and
- 41:23where those genitals going, what's in his Publishers office.
- 41:26And he said, look, I've written how the ox reproduce again.
- 41:30Yeah, he's right. What these in the appendices.
- 41:33Again, might main book they both reproduce like everybody else
- 41:39does and can be made and we all reproduce but that's the
- 41:47Chrysalis, I assume that. Yeah.
- 41:49Well, he did Jackson leaned into, they can be molded from
- 41:52the earth. The latter is what we saw
- 41:53cerumen doing in the movies. But Gandalf in the book says he
- 41:57makes he's a home to do that. He Hey dorks, with goblins and
- 42:01Men implying just more fucking, okay?
- 42:04And just to be clear, that's Peter Jackson, was named not
- 42:07putting himself in the movie means mankind.
- 42:09It doesn't mean literally, just numb it away meant for people
- 42:13are writing in gunhawk. Nate says men, but he said that
- 42:20was a bit much Peter Jackson, so he went with the Pod thing.
- 42:23So like the way, no one is going to put the teenager gangbang
- 42:26from the end of Stephen. King's It.
- 42:28I know I know they are Implied, it might have happened, but
- 42:31yeah, but what does it mean? Goblins and men, and how do they
- 42:35breed well? Oh, he goes on.
- 42:37Yes, please. They might be mutated.
- 42:39But the DNA of the goblin is still elf and they are always
- 42:42having half-human kids. Even elrond is half elf.
- 42:45So, I think the bigger changes, the young Orcs are not Immortal
- 42:47anymore. There to corrupt in the light of
- 42:49the noldor left them long ago. I don't know what that means.
- 42:53Anyway, I've just summarized Lord of the Rings know, so, I
- 42:56haven't gotten a long time to sum up.
- 42:58No one wants to imply that Ox fuck.
- 43:00So they don't show female or almost do I make you?
- 43:04Do you want to imply it very strongly?
- 43:07So go on anyway. That's that's it yet
- 43:11magnificent. He always says I may be a little
- 43:13too invested in Lord of the Rings?
- 43:14No. No investor just the perfect
- 43:16amount. Just the right amount.
- 43:18Correct. Yeah, that's magnificent.
- 43:20I knew there'd be an answer because talking doesn't leave
- 43:23any stone unturned and I knew that some go.
- 43:25Well, it's about fucking yeah. That's right.
- 43:28I'm currently reading. Well, I've lost my page, but
- 43:33apparently reading Lord, fouls beIN the first of the Thomas
- 43:37Cullen, and the unbeliever Chronicles by Stephen Donaldson,
- 43:41which is about a man from outside, who gets sucked into a
- 43:45high Fantasy Realm. And the first thing he does is
- 43:48rape a fairy. As you do, we go.
- 43:50What you were wearing something else I thought?
- 43:52You got to be bringing that off because that's probably I could
- 43:55probably discuss. He talking to mention mine Camp
- 43:57from the podcast. My I have Sit at reading mine
- 44:00Camp from time to time but I've never been in.
- 44:03Are you opening? What am I grateful?
- 44:09I'm rich. I'm done several books at once,
- 44:11Luke. Which one were you referring to?
- 44:13Well, you've got on here you that you read some Arthur C
- 44:15Clarke? Oh yes.
- 44:17Yes, I did read some Arthur C Clarke.
- 44:20In fact, I'm still going. I'm reading the 2001 A Space
- 44:25Odyssey book which I assume you were.
- 44:26Okay. And I'll go out.
- 44:29And I would say definitively this is better than the movie.
- 44:33This is a because patterns. Yeah.
- 44:35It correct. Yeah.
- 44:36And the same stuff is implied, but it's described very well.
- 44:41And in context, this is, this is excellent.
- 44:45I appreciate 2001 A Space Odyssey as a piece of Cinema
- 44:49history, but I don't actually enjoy watching it as a movie.
- 44:52Is this. What's wrong with me?
- 44:54This is very good. I like it but just not that.
- 44:58I don't enjoy it. Yeah like fucking an orc.
- 45:02Look that's all do it here. Look it but I don't enjoy it
- 45:06because I quite liked 3001. Sure, you know.
- 45:09Know, I plan to keep going. I plan to keep going.
- 45:13This is good. I mean it did deviates from the
- 45:15film in many ways to in ways that make much more sense of the
- 45:19stuff that happens in the film. Well, especially because towards
- 45:22the end when they because I writing the book and filming at
- 45:25the same time towards the end Stanley, Kubrick just stopped
- 45:29returning. Turning phone calls.
- 45:30Yeah, you wouldn't like wouldn't share?
- 45:31Do you only how we finish? Yeah, this is what I'm doing
- 45:35now. And just, yeah, sort of just
- 45:37yeah, forgot but I love because obviously standard cubic has
- 45:40been very very secretive about that ending in any time.
- 45:44Anyone's asked is like if you have to ask you've missed the
- 45:47point, the point is not knowing what that ending is about.
- 45:49Like the mystery is the point where as Lynch it, like there's
- 45:53a recording of a radio interview with Kubrick on Japanese radio,
- 45:58where the guy Is interviewer just doesn't understand what the
- 46:02mystery is the point means. And so curing finally goes fine
- 46:07I'll is this is just for Japan. I'll just fucking tell you what
- 46:09happens and literally just spells out the end of it.
- 46:12Yeah, right. Haha the unite.
- 46:16Yeah, thank you. The into my favorite sort of
- 46:19Hardcore science fiction authors because a lot of the stuff he
- 46:22writes about he also ties back to actual science as well.
- 46:26Yeah, I like that. He is a fucking Prophet.
- 46:29What? Yearwood was this book written
- 46:31in 60s, 70s to 60s, right? So a, they he, they reading
- 46:36newspapers on what's essentially tablets iPads, right?
- 46:40And he says the quicker. It was too for people to read
- 46:47the news was directly proportional with the amount of
- 46:52triviality that the news became so, and it's like a so true.
- 46:56There's also one bit and this isn't even a plot point, they're
- 46:59just spectacular. Relating shit.
- 47:01That might happen and he says China, my engineer a virus and
- 47:05spread it worldwide not to kill everyone.
- 47:08But just to essentially blackmail, the World by charging
- 47:11everyone for the vaccine for me. And I was like, holy shit.
- 47:18Now that I think that's what covid-19.
- 47:20But yeah, that's a crazy thing. That is something that could
- 47:23actually happen in this day to other authors.
- 47:26I feel like I like that are Ray Bradbury.
- 47:28Yeah, to you. You can go back and read and
- 47:30it's like, how did he know like how was he?
- 47:33So not not not exactly. Correct but thematically
- 47:36certainly on track and Isaac Asimov as well.
- 47:39Yeah fucking genius. Like what a what a mind I bought
- 47:45some books. You reminded me.
- 47:47I had not on the podcast. I don't think I had a rent to
- 47:51you about the xenomorph thing. Yeah.
- 47:54Yeah. They're not called Xenomorphs
- 47:56listeners. They're called alien.
- 47:58They're just say I refer To a Xenomorphs least once or twice,
- 48:03I'll stop you there. Bat.
- 48:04There were two book calls a in a moss.
- 48:07He's just, he's just a fancy douchebag waste, an alien.
- 48:10No one else in that movie uses that word as the one time it's
- 48:13used. No.
- 48:14But people not in that movie Ripley calls them Xenomorphs in
- 48:18the third one. I think you'll find.
- 48:21Are you sure? I don't think that's true.
- 48:23Hold on. Well, I'll find out.
- 48:25That's why I know it was books while I was thinking that I did.
- 48:29Some searching on that because I was trying to figure out like,
- 48:33how did because the and I discovered one thing that annoys
- 48:36me is that Ridley. Scott Credit in the credits for
- 48:40alien, Covenant refers to it as xenomorph and I was like, well
- 48:43I'm fucking doomed now if Ridley Scott's calling it that I'm
- 48:47fucked. So yeah, you can't argue.
- 48:50Yeah, but you can because George Luz, not installs pronounced at
- 48:54at, and he's wrong about that. He seemed very wrong.
- 48:57So, but anyway, so I was just looking Like that.
- 49:00I saw something that said, you know, when Bishop crawls through
- 49:06the pipe, right to to in Aliens Bishop calls with a pipe to use
- 49:11a communications array to bring down the Dropship.
- 49:13Yeah. And then they talking about how
- 49:15it's going to be really dangerous.
- 49:16They have to cut a hole and he goes to the pipe and they give
- 49:19him a gun and they and he says, don't worry, I'm not stupid.
- 49:23I only use this if I have to but you know and then we're led to
- 49:27believe that he never encountered any is it all
- 49:29because suddenly he's just there using the thing.
- 49:32But apparently, there was a scene where he encounters an
- 49:37alien, it's not in the film was never actually shot, but it's in
- 49:41this book. Hey always.
- 49:44At Ellen Dean Foster by that, it's somebody.
- 49:46This is also a linear and Foster.
- 49:48Okay, yeah, and this is also a linear.
- 49:50Hey, so I've got Alien aliens and Alien 3 by Ellen, Dean
- 49:56Foster. And I'm going to find out if
- 49:58anyone says Xena Often there. Nobody, tonight's tie in film
- 50:03fiction. Like Ellen, Dean Foster, man,
- 50:07I'd love to meet him one, you know alive, yeah.
- 50:10Yes, I think he is. Yeah, I think he did a Star Wars
- 50:14book at least a couple years ago like you're right.
- 50:17He did another station of force awakens in here.
- 50:19Yeah, okay. Now that was probably 10 years
- 50:21ago now but still yeah, yeah, it's certainly caused a lot of
- 50:25confusion because I mean, I mean, he never came in and went
- 50:29And I'm the xenomorph know my name is John xenomorph.
- 50:33Yeah. Fuck another xenomorph then you
- 50:37could be right. I just got have residual Trauma
- 50:40from having an argument with somebody about it as a kid.
- 50:42And so it literally makes my eye twitch when someone calls them
- 50:45Xenomorphs because I'm like they're not called Xenomorphs.
- 50:49Yeah just have you look to try and find you like we can find
- 50:52something. There Ripley says it and
- 50:53on-screen rent.com they just go through.
- 50:56They don't say where she says it but there's just a whole thing
- 50:59like Burke was trying to bring the scene of both home like the
- 51:01old saying they say xenomorph throughout the article.
- 51:05Right right. Yeah.
- 51:07I mean they don't say Ewok in no doubt of the Jedi either so
- 51:13anyone who actually thinks they're called Ewald a variety
- 51:15of Us, Predator movies at. I think.
- 51:17And all the certainly, all the books in the comics had like
- 51:20took it. As that's what mystery, although
- 51:22I think the somewhere they refer to as xenomorph and then a
- 51:25number, which implies that there are others which means it does
- 51:27just mean alien. But then, yeah, Yeah, it doesn't
- 51:30matter. I just don't know why it makes
- 51:31me so mad. That's yeah, yeah.
- 51:35It's one of those things that gets under my skin.
- 51:37For some reason. You like one of those guys that
- 51:39when people go Frankenstein you go, oh the human in that book
- 51:42Frankenstein. That does the frankness I know
- 51:43that and I'm like, I'll say it for funsies but doesn't actually
- 51:46annoy me when someone because the reason it came up this is
- 51:49because I was at trivia. And one of the questions was it
- 51:52was about named the alien species, and one of them was
- 51:54that and I was like, I said to the everyone at the table, the
- 51:57answer is getting write their name, right?
- 51:58See the answer to I said rise in him off but then right, in
- 52:01Brackets next to it, they're not cause dinner Moss.
- 52:03Yeah. But by then, yeah.
- 52:05And everyone's like, we talking about and Jenna's like don't ask
- 52:07him. Yeah, just like that.
- 52:09Let it read asked, Lance Henriksen.
- 52:12Next time you see me? I think it's some of the books
- 52:14and stuff. It's a xenomorph.
- 52:15And then there's a number designation, because of,
- 52:17depending on where the egg hatches.
- 52:19Because remember, when the egg hatches depends on, which
- 52:22species that they connect with changes the way that you, yes.
- 52:25But there's also a part of that life, start cycle.
- 52:28That doesn't make any sense because Was, what is the
- 52:30Facehugger is? It is in the morph, it comes out
- 52:33of the egg, then it gives birth to the xenomorph.
- 52:36Okay, so so in this in from the books, every xenomorph will
- 52:40carry one egg with them and so if there's no Queen around, they
- 52:44will lay an egg and that if that Facehugger goes, that will
- 52:48create the queen. And what is that face hugger?
- 52:50There's their child like, is that my son when I not oh, hold
- 52:56on, you're saying they're coming really responsible for that.
- 52:59Thanks for everything. Everything Immortal carry one
- 53:02egg. When you say carry an egg, you
- 53:04don't mean carry to term look Carrie but they've got one ring
- 53:07an egg from the backpack. Yeah.
- 53:09No that's what I mean. Who laid the eggs?
- 53:12Does the Queen Alia International League?
- 53:14Don't know that species? Probably long gone because
- 53:16you're gonna remember every time.
- 53:18Yeah, species that xenomorph has that alien?
- 53:22Yeah. Yeah.
- 53:23Like that one, egg did technically becoming sort of a
- 53:26new offer correct, which is why there's a fucking whatever.
- 53:29Then goes where it goes and it goes off crested dog.
- 53:33Well that's another thing, right?
- 53:34That's just that's just something for subspecies.
- 53:36They never said that explicitly in Alien 3 but like it at that
- 53:41has became heavily implied it. Yeah.
- 53:43That's what I wish. They'd just not sure she gets
- 53:45this one's a bit different. Well, yeah, it's a bit doggy
- 53:48differently. Yeah.
- 53:49But yeah. You don't even so, the other
- 53:51thing is this, this one alien, I'm interested to see what
- 53:53happens at the end of this because based on what you were
- 53:55saying in Alien, right? If you go on the DVDs, There's a
- 54:00scene cut from the film for pacing reasons.
- 54:03We're Ripley encounters Dallas. I think in the bowels of the
- 54:08ship and he stuck to the wall, right?
- 54:11And they're dissolving him to make the egg.
- 54:16Oh, that's what they do that for.
- 54:18Well, not anymore, right? Is it?
- 54:21Because James Cameron change? Sure changed a lot.
- 54:25Yeah, but originally that was what and if they it just if they
- 54:28just hadn't cut that Seen out. He'll they'll the sequels would
- 54:31be completely different because it be no Queen.
- 54:33Yeah, yeah. That acid is to melt the person
- 54:37and use the biological material into the egg into an egg.
- 54:41Oh, that's fucking cool. We can watch that scene on the
- 54:44DVD. I want to obliterate that.
- 54:47Yeah. Yeah they literally cut it at
- 54:48the last minute. The right foot four times.
- 54:50Yeah. Okay.
- 54:51I will I will Spritz Dallas. She talks to the Alien 3 video
- 54:56game that they came out with for both the Super Nintendo.
- 55:00And so I'm like God, which have completely different Studios,
- 55:04made both of them, but both very, very good games, possibly
- 55:08better than the movie at least better than the cinema cut.
- 55:12I am. So, I like a leaf or a soft spot
- 55:14for it. I don't know why.
- 55:15Yeah, just away. No, no, it's good.
- 55:17It's when the assembly cut right.
- 55:20Is that what they call that version?
- 55:21David Finch has first? Well I don't think he even did
- 55:24that. I think he left well before in
- 55:27fact I don't think he was still there when Lance Erickson was
- 55:30there. I can't remember Benny.
- 55:32It does seem to protect on weekly.
- 55:34Could everyone just check their recordings quickly.
- 55:36Sure. Cause I forgot to hit the back
- 55:38up one. I'm really I'm checking out.
- 55:40Okay, cool cool. Yeah, I've just hit the
- 55:42recording on here, I forgot to hit the back up that.
- 55:46Yeah and welcome to the show episode 500.
- 55:50Here we go again. Like to intro the assembly cut.
- 55:56I think it's called the assembly cut is much longer and has a
- 55:59lot. Interesting religious stuff that
- 56:01they cut out because it was all very Yes.
- 56:04Monkey slow slow. Yeah.
- 56:06And I like it but then I had never seen that movie at all and
- 56:11we watch that version as he fucking hated it because it gets
- 56:14things do happen, more than once.
- 56:16Like I love you have to keep trying to get out and then they
- 56:19captured again and it gets out. Yeah.
- 56:21Correct. Yeah.
- 56:21So that's that's what's boring about it?
- 56:23Is you like how we did this but that scene where they've got the
- 56:26motion sensor and machine guns is Fucking excellent.
- 56:30When it's in the tunnel and they just ya hear those guns firing.
- 56:33So they know it's coming towards them.
- 56:35Like that wasn't in the theatrical cut and it is X.
- 56:38It is a great set. That is yeah.
- 56:40That makes a movie a million times better.
- 56:42I just that that, yes in there. Yeah, you mean aliens or Alien
- 56:453? No Alien 3 early, and then have
- 56:48machine guns in alien 3? I think you're talking about
- 56:51aliens. This, no, no, there is three the
- 56:53turrets and the fucking things in that bright and they don't
- 56:56have any guns, an Alien 3. Am I thinking of aliens?
- 56:58And I, it's all that. Yeah.
- 56:59They lian's yeah, Alien 3 is the monks, they only have is like an
- 57:03Axe and so they have to lure it using them as bait into the
- 57:08Ironworks so they can download the oil.
- 57:09Just the only way they could think of to kill it because they
- 57:11don't have any weapons guns. Yeah you are correct.
- 57:16I mean maybe there was maybe they did delete something good
- 57:19but they definitely did because there's a whole scene where
- 57:22there's a whole sequence in the assembly code of Alien 3, with
- 57:24one of the little prisoners. But they've become religious
- 57:28because they're on this Prison Planet.
- 57:29They're almost like monks. And he were also, the first
- 57:32draft that was just a monk planet and they built the sets
- 57:36and then they fired the director and then they changed.
- 57:39Yeah, it's a fucking mess there now prisoners.
- 57:42So they one of them gets a bit nutso and scared and starts
- 57:47work, decides. He's going to worship it and
- 57:48then he lets it out of the cage, the prison area.
- 57:53They've got an in, I think that's cut from the final one.
- 57:56My favorite scene in the whole movie is when they're all in the
- 57:58kitchen and they Making fun of Ripley.
- 58:00Now look there's no fucking alien and it comes out of the
- 58:02roof and grabs that guy and they often panic and it's like blood
- 58:06flow from the ceiling. And then it goes all quiet and
- 58:07that guy standing there with a chair.
- 58:09And he goes fuck, just can't so good.
- 58:16Yeah, looking for this fucking scene.
- 58:19I mean, there's definitely a turret sequence in Aliens.
- 58:23Yes, I thought that's what you were talking about.
- 58:25Might have thought you're talking about as well.
- 58:27Probably is Maybe I just need to sit down to watch the target
- 58:30sequence. Now, can we get, can we avoid
- 58:35sort of finish up? Move on.
- 58:36Can we talk about just some more fault news that I just want to
- 58:39get out there? Sure that Billy Mitchell.
- 58:43Yes, because we've been talking about Billy Mitchell for
- 58:46probably ten years at least like yeah we've been talking about
- 58:50him since remember, when we were first talking about this went
- 58:52after seeing the king of Kong the first time talking about how
- 58:56that was sort of making me out to be a villain, In which he
- 58:59sort of really and we were like, maybe it's biased.
- 59:02Maybe he's not so bad. And then someone something awful
- 59:04said, no he came to town and burn down a arcade because he
- 59:08got mad at him and I was like is that yeah.
- 59:11Yeah there's a lot of worries about him when we everyone Under
- 59:15the Sun. Yeah.
- 59:17When you when you Google Billy Mitchell, though comes up Billy
- 59:20Mitchell restaurateur. Yeah.
- 59:22Because he owns that. Is it a rib joint that he owns?
- 59:25Yeah. Hot.
- 59:26Yeah. He's crazy.
- 59:27He owns a You businesses. I think he's got his hot sauce
- 59:30and all that and B does. Yeah, a restaurant chain but
- 59:33it's all week because he's actually sewing an Australian
- 59:36YouTuber, is he calling? Yeah, because I forget his name
- 59:41call someone but one thing like because he came out went like,
- 59:45he's a cheater. Yeah.
- 59:47Well, it's like so many people have but for some reason he
- 59:49focused on this well, YouTuber, I mean he's been stripped of his
- 59:53title. So I don't know why.
- 59:54This one guy's saying that he's a cheater is for he'd also still
- 59:57doing Twin Galaxies as well, is that he got caught, he got
- 1:00:03caught cheating and then they were like, well he's probably
- 1:00:05cheating the other times and he's like, prove it.
- 1:00:07I'll sue you let it slide but then the internet went.
- 1:00:09All right. They finally have proved because
- 1:00:13the ones where he's film The 13 cities.
- 1:00:16Filmed it. Well, I've got witnesses.
- 1:00:18Who saw me the Witnesses are? He's friends?
- 1:00:20Yes, very shady. Well, he is for the next that's
- 1:00:23where it comes in today's news, because somebody has come up
- 1:00:27with a photo Of of the alleged machine with him standing in
- 1:00:32front of it, that he claims was the machine that we directly.
- 1:00:37If he got her on that machine, which is still possible.
- 1:00:41He still possible only got that school.
- 1:00:42But machine do the whole thing with this comes down to he says
- 1:00:46he got on a regional machine. Yes.
- 1:00:49Machine that we got a photo of isn't original to assume a have
- 1:00:52got the score. Yeah not the machine Central
- 1:00:55Hospital big he he's still lying no matter what Yes.
- 1:00:58Yeah it couldn't be case of he's not lying.
- 1:01:02He's just really miss remembers. I mean that's very possible.
- 1:01:06I'm big devil's advocate here. Yeah, I think you'd remember
- 1:01:10someone yeah. Like nobody hears this joystick
- 1:01:13on. It is very different when when
- 1:01:15he was first hailed as the winner.
- 1:01:19When Walter day, is it, Walter day from Twin Galaxies.
- 1:01:23Was that was said, I'll hold on. Because was it?
- 1:01:26We be John, we be If we can, we Steve wiebe.
- 1:01:29Yes, Steve wiebe stop playing Donkey.
- 1:01:31Kong and wipe my butt. Yeah.
- 1:01:34When he has brought I can tell a lovely man, and a great day.
- 1:01:38Yeah. When he broke the record and
- 1:01:41then Billy Mitchell's just waltzed in with a VHS tape, God
- 1:01:44not so fast, he is me beating it for another day.
- 1:01:48Yeah but even since the day after that, when people have
- 1:01:53been going through frame-by-frame going, oh there's
- 1:01:55a little glitch here between the frame before.
- 1:01:58Or it rolls over. Yeah.
- 1:02:00Like it was always a b us and the fact that you know Billy
- 1:02:04Mitchell looks like one of the most untrustworthy people you
- 1:02:08could ever encounter and he's been and approve, a proof that
- 1:02:12he cheated. Other games, it's sort of like
- 1:02:14if you look at the thing is it's not like he's a bad player like
- 1:02:18it's not like he's know what games or anything like it wasn't
- 1:02:22heated, one of the first people to complete Pac-Man right?
- 1:02:24I mean it perfect score. Yes he's an excellent place
- 1:02:27achieved Yang's. Yeah.
- 1:02:28No one's not saying that he's not, just maybe not the things
- 1:02:31that he's claiming, he's achieved.
- 1:02:33Yes, all of them. So, the it's quite interesting
- 1:02:37to see where these lawsuits are going to go after this, because
- 1:02:39he's whole thing goes off. Those are original hardware and
- 1:02:41then here's a photo of the Event Viewer at which shows not
- 1:02:45original heart. Yeah, the second generation
- 1:02:47machine. It's not, why would you take a
- 1:02:49photo in front of the machine? That was Michelle.
- 1:02:52He probably didn't realize he was going to have to lie about
- 1:02:55it later, you know? Yeah, yeah, correct correct,
- 1:02:59Matt. Yeah, he hadn't worked out the
- 1:03:02light yet. The whole thing about the
- 1:03:04joystick that is showing is if it was on original Hardware, the
- 1:03:07original joystick controller for Donkey Kong was for way.
- 1:03:11So, up down left, right with the control, that it's on the
- 1:03:14machine that we use, its eight way.
- 1:03:16Mmm. So he goes like a nice anchor
- 1:03:18doll. You can go diagonal, which could
- 1:03:21give you an advantage? Hold on.
- 1:03:22Can you go diagonally Donkey Kong again?
- 1:03:25You've got the controller to sort of Click when you, when you
- 1:03:28In the full white, you basically stop.
- 1:03:30Oh, just right to me to go up activist sideways and jump in.
- 1:03:33There is this way you can go up and right at the same time so
- 1:03:36gives you you're not supposed to be able to do that in the
- 1:03:39original. Zoe mean no clear?
- 1:03:40Right? The One Direction.
- 1:03:42Hmm, there you go. I love it.
- 1:03:44I mean, I don't think it's been a response to it yet and I'm
- 1:03:47dying to see what the rest are. Yeah, I'm glad.
- 1:03:49I'm glad we can talk about him again.
- 1:03:50I'm glad he's back in the news. Yeah.
- 1:03:53Yeah. Before he disappears forever.
- 1:03:56Is that a threat? I'd be worried if the 500th
- 1:03:59episode of Live didn't threaten somebody.
- 1:04:01That's yeah, that's right. Yeah, I mean, In this episode
- 1:04:05anniversary episode is told. Kristen Stewart to go across the
- 1:04:08hall. He's threatened a prominent
- 1:04:11figure in doing the after he hasn't called us out for not
- 1:04:16being woken up, but he will be. What if you're if you're a
- 1:04:19patron or you'd like to become one, then you can join us in the
- 1:04:22after party where Matt is going to explain to us why he stands
- 1:04:27with JK Rowling after all the controversy.
- 1:04:34I'm not saying Agree or disagree.
- 1:04:35I can. I can tell already which side
- 1:04:37looks going to come down on. Listen, I'm going to be the
- 1:04:39tiebreaker to patreon know. I'm just laying the gasm.
- 1:04:42See, I like the truth. I like Hogwarts Legacy.
- 1:04:45The game is great. Now I thought well yeah you say
- 1:04:48that. You can fight Anthony Rapp about
- 1:04:51that. You can't say that but when they
- 1:04:53get as opposed to, some of them are gonna get some.com do it,
- 1:04:55but then go to patreon.com/scishow.
- 1:04:57People nerdgasm before we go, I do have one more thing I want to
- 1:05:00show you guys. It's the think something I
- 1:05:02noticed today, right? Hmm.
- 1:05:04I'm going to play a clip right now.
- 1:05:06You're going to know what this is right.
- 1:05:07You're about to hear this listeners anyway.

- 1:05:17Hmm. This is the original from the
- 1:05:21first episode that's all for this week.
- 1:05:24Thank you for listening and we hope you enjoyed the show.
- 1:05:28Sure what the fuck happened there?
- 1:05:31And when did that happen? You didn't replace that.
- 1:05:34You didn't see. There one day gone, that should
- 1:05:36be lower in pitch, and then play with it and swap it out of.
- 1:05:39I have no idea when that happened, maybe it's degraded
- 1:05:44over time. I have no idea.
- 1:05:46I'm no, that's not a real thing this to start writing.
- 1:05:47Wow. You know, and the funny thing is
- 1:05:49that we it's running out of batteries map because it's not
- 1:05:53in the blockchain. Yeah, we are.
- 1:05:57That's the machine learning version of it when we used to do
- 1:06:01fake endings to this podcast. We would also say, thank you for
- 1:06:04listening. Opening, which is actually not
- 1:06:06how that starts that's all for this week.
- 1:06:09Yeah. No.
- 1:06:10Because I skipped to the end, just to see what we said at the
- 1:06:11end, it wasn't very interesting. The ending of the first episode,
- 1:06:14by the way, we just trailed off and then played that have a copy
- 1:06:19of the first episode. You know, in fact, I think the
- 1:06:22reason we made that was because the ending of the podcast was
- 1:06:25just us talking and then we just stop talking.
- 1:06:27We just does like his know anything podcast over.
- 1:06:30Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:06:32But then it came on and I was like, that sounds So different
- 1:06:36and yeah. Anyway that's all for this week.
