- 0:22Speaker 1: Welcome to Eagles postgame analysis here at the Philadelphia Sports
- 0:25Speaker 1: Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly sports podcast
- 0:28Speaker 1: show in the world, twelve years strong, and the Philadelphia
- 0:31Speaker 1: Eagles are now three to zero on the season, amazingly enough,
- 0:34Speaker 1: after beating the Los Angeles Rams down at the link
- 0:37Speaker 1: by a score of thirty three to twenty six.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Game just got done. I'm shocked. I know my guest
- 0:43Speaker 2: is shocked. To a lot of us in Eagles Nation
- 0:45Speaker 2: are shocked and how this game ended, how the Eagles
- 0:48Speaker 2: performed in the second half after looking like complete dog
- 0:52Speaker 2: doo dooo in the first half. Yes, I'm Jeff Warren.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I'm hearing my good buddy from the honorable mentioned podcast
- 1:00Speaker 2: drive to them over on YouTube and whatever podcast platform
- 1:03Speaker 2: you're listening to us on if you're listening to audio,
- 1:05Speaker 2: Matt Rogers, buddy, first and foremost, it is great to
- 1:08Speaker 2: talk to you. Thanks so much for jumping on last
- 1:10Speaker 2: minute here as we had a cancelation with one of
- 1:13Speaker 2: my co hosts. But I do have to say, man,
- 1:15Speaker 2: it's great to great to be able to hear your voice,
- 1:17Speaker 2: and it's great to get this Eagles victory Week three here,
- 1:21Speaker 2: Eagles getting it done.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Man.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Oh, it's always I was always excited and I'm looking
- 1:25Speaker 4: forward to always look forward to being on appreciate, you know,
- 1:28Speaker 4: getting to engage with you and talk about a variety
- 1:31Speaker 4: of different things. And I was telling you backstage four
- 1:34Speaker 4: we started, I'm like, this is going to be a
- 1:36Speaker 4: really freaking different show today. But we were talking at
- 1:39Speaker 4: the twenty six to seven that was a that was
- 1:42Speaker 4: gonna be more of like a like a funeral podcast.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Today we are celebrating. It's it's this is the best
- 1:51Speaker 4: team in football. Absolutely what I just watched over the
- 1:54Speaker 4: last half of that game. You walk down a second
- 1:59Speaker 4: round play off team and that was a very good
- 2:02Speaker 4: playoff team last year. Yes, very good team, and you
- 2:06Speaker 4: walk them down, don't allow them to score again, and
- 2:10Speaker 4: you score and every and Jalen Hurts does what. I
- 2:13Speaker 4: guess I'm getting into the themes of the show, but
- 2:16Speaker 4: I'm feeling great, Jeff.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yes, please do, man, please do.
- 2:20Speaker 4: That's what everybody has said they want to see from
- 2:23Speaker 4: Jalen myself and at moments I want to see this
- 2:26Speaker 4: because I kind of want to shut up the haters.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:29Speaker 4: It also will open up opportunities for Saquon Barkley. We
- 2:33Speaker 4: do want to see aj Brown get the ball because
- 2:35Speaker 4: he's freaking amazing. You see him get you know, on
- 2:39Speaker 4: a third and got to have it. He catches it
- 2:43Speaker 4: short of the sticks, runs the guy over to get
- 2:45Speaker 4: a few extra yards because he's a special player, and
- 2:48Speaker 4: so it's it's great to see. And they put thirty
- 2:52Speaker 4: three points on the board after putting seven points on
- 2:54Speaker 4: the board in thirty minutes.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Absolutely, Look, the Eagles came into this game, specifically the
- 3:00Speaker 2: Eagles defense, I should say, came into this game first
- 3:03Speaker 2: in points allowed, first in yards per game. We're going
- 3:05Speaker 2: through the first half and thinking, oh my gosh, is
- 3:08Speaker 2: Sean McVeigh actually going to get his second victory against
- 3:13Speaker 2: the Philadelphia Eagles in his career. No, of course it
- 3:15Speaker 2: didn't happen. Sean McVay came into this game today one
- 3:18Speaker 2: in four against the Eagles. He's now one in five.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It's tough for him to beat this team. But look,
- 3:24Speaker 2: we got to talk about another theme as well. Loved
- 3:27Speaker 2: your first theme there, and I think it goes to
- 3:31Speaker 2: show how important this offensive line cohesiveness is because we
- 3:35Speaker 2: have what is called the Lane Johnson effect and what
- 3:39Speaker 2: happens with this team when one of these members of
- 3:42Speaker 2: the offensive line go out.
- 3:44Speaker 3: The Eagles had three three.
- 3:46Speaker 2: And outs after Lane Johnson left the game for a
- 3:49Speaker 2: total of negative ten yards. Then they had their fourth
- 3:52Speaker 2: third and their fourth three and out, I should say
- 3:55Speaker 2: right before the half. That's the driver. AJ Brown got
- 3:58Speaker 2: a personal foul penalty. Then you had Matt Pryor come
- 4:01Speaker 2: in when Lane Johnson went out during the first half.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Then Jeff Statlin wasn't caring for what he was seeing
- 4:08Speaker 2: from Matt Pryor put in Fred Johnson at the half,
- 4:11Speaker 2: and then you had this reshift and this refocus of
- 4:15Speaker 2: being able to really have some pass protection for Jalen
- 4:20Speaker 2: Hurts and also you know, being able to get the
- 4:23Speaker 2: run game here and there on specific plays, you know,
- 4:26Speaker 2: going a bit. Look, Saquon Barkley did not have the
- 4:29Speaker 2: greatest day in the world. It's gonna be interesting to
- 4:31Speaker 2: watch this video and film. Eighteen carries forty six yard
- 4:35Speaker 2: only only average two point six yards per carry in
- 4:39Speaker 2: this game here, Matt, but I really think the Lane
- 4:42Speaker 2: Johnson effect took hold of this team during the first half.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Eagles had a total of thirty three yards in the
- 4:49Speaker 2: first half, probably the most anemic offensive performance that we've
- 4:51Speaker 2: ever seen from a team offensive I should say unit in.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Quite some time, you know.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And then and then Jalen fumbles on the first snap
- 5:00Speaker 2: of the half to the half and man then the
- 5:04Speaker 2: Rams score there.
- 5:06Speaker 3: And but it turned.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Around because the offense was really able to get it
- 5:11Speaker 2: together and and Jalen Hurts was able to do what
- 5:14Speaker 2: he did, proving some critics wrong as well. But really,
- 5:17Speaker 2: I think the Lane Johnson effect, I think we really
- 5:19Speaker 2: saw that for a lot of this game until this
- 5:21Speaker 2: offense then was able to adapt. My friend, absolutely, I mean,
- 5:26Speaker 2: it's great that we got Fred back from Jacksonville because
- 5:31Speaker 2: I'm not a big Matt pryor Guy Cannard all those
- 5:36Speaker 2: guys that are gonna they're not gonna be able to
- 5:38Speaker 2: fill in in a pinch. And the statistics when Lane
- 5:42Speaker 2: Johnson's on the field versus off the field for the
- 5:44Speaker 2: Philadelphia Eagles are really striking. Now this is the statistics
- 5:49Speaker 2: for aj.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Brown on the field and off the field, they're also striking,
- 5:52Speaker 4: but not like Lane Johnson. I mean, the winning percentage
- 5:55Speaker 4: is in the neighborhood of seventy percent versus thirty percent,
- 6:00Speaker 4: And so it's a really important thing. And another theme
- 6:03Speaker 4: I think while we're talking about offensive line, we had
- 6:07Speaker 4: heard a lot of talk this week about you know,
- 6:09Speaker 4: the Eagles jump off sides every time on the tush push,
- 6:13Speaker 4: and they're gonna call it and in a close game,
- 6:16Speaker 4: and they're gonna have a bunch of third in habits
- 6:19Speaker 4: and force and you gotta have it, and they're gonna
- 6:22Speaker 4: the rest. They're gonna bring in the rest today the
- 6:24Speaker 4: refs that call the most false starts in the league,
- 6:26Speaker 4: and we're gonna crack down and we're gonna back door
- 6:29Speaker 4: ban the play. Well, it didn't happen today because because
- 6:34Speaker 4: the fall starts that people are talking about our microscopic.
- 6:38Speaker 4: When you're slowing it down to the slowest motion possible
- 6:43Speaker 4: on a picture, you're seeing a guy this is a millisecond.
- 6:47Speaker 4: And it's the same thing with offensive holding on the line.
- 6:51Speaker 4: To call things all the time, but when you're watching
- 6:54Speaker 4: the plate, they're not getting it because their line is
- 6:58Speaker 4: able to jump off side. They're getting it because their
- 7:01Speaker 4: offensive line is able to give about a half a
- 7:03Speaker 4: yard every time, and their quarterback is a superhuman Yes,
- 7:08Speaker 4: and even if he gets rejected, is gonna get that
- 7:11Speaker 4: second push over. He's gonna get the first down. So
- 7:15Speaker 4: long Live the Tush Push is another theme.
- 7:17Speaker 3: For Long Live the Tush Push.
- 7:19Speaker 2: I'm not sure how long it is gonna live after
- 7:21Speaker 2: this season, to be honest with you, because, like like
- 7:24Speaker 2: you said that much, it's like this microscopic just a
- 7:28Speaker 2: hair of a second, which might actually be a false start.
- 7:31Speaker 2: I mean we did, we did see it today. I
- 7:33Speaker 2: think it was with land I think it was Landon Dickerson.
- 7:35Speaker 2: It was either Dickerson or Tyler Steen where there was
- 7:38Speaker 2: a little bit early, but it was, like you said,
- 7:41Speaker 2: so microscopic. But we know that this, We know what
- 7:45Speaker 2: the narrative is going to be with the tush Push
- 7:46Speaker 2: throughout this entire season because because there's a lot of
- 7:49Speaker 2: owners and a lot of teams that want to get
- 7:51Speaker 2: rid of this particular play. But I do have to
- 7:54Speaker 2: say another theme as we're moving along here, Matt, the
- 7:58Speaker 2: explosive plays. The explosive plays. After Jalen Fomble turned the
- 8:03Speaker 2: ball over and then the offense ended up starting to
- 8:05Speaker 2: get their stuff together, there were explosive plays two in
- 8:08Speaker 2: a row, a thirty eight yard pass to aj Brown
- 8:12Speaker 2: and then a thirty three yard touchdown pass to Dallas Goddard.
- 8:16Speaker 2: I am wishing that Kevin Petulu would get the ball
- 8:20Speaker 2: down the field more, and we saw him do that
- 8:22Speaker 2: during the course of the second half. Jalen Hurts ended
- 8:25Speaker 2: today twenty one thirty two for two hundred and twenty
- 8:28Speaker 2: six yards, three touchdowns, a rating of one P seventeen
- 8:32Speaker 2: point four, and then he averaged seven point one yards
- 8:36Speaker 2: per attempt. Those are the numbers that I like to
- 8:38Speaker 2: see from him, mixing and matching it up. Yes, they
- 8:41Speaker 2: couldn't get the they couldn't get Saquon Barkley moving in
- 8:45Speaker 2: the rushing game again, only two point six yards per
- 8:48Speaker 2: carry for him, a lot of negative yards for whatever reason.
- 8:52Speaker 2: The run blocking was not great. And hand it to
- 8:55Speaker 2: the Los Angeles Rams for actually defending the run. They
- 8:59Speaker 2: knew they had to do it, but Jalen Hurts was
- 9:00Speaker 2: able to then beat them through the air. So I
- 9:03Speaker 2: guess for me, it's the adaptability. You know that I'm
- 9:06Speaker 2: going to keep going back to why this team ended
- 9:08Speaker 2: up winning this game. And oh and oh, also, by
- 9:11Speaker 2: the way, one incredible awesome talent in Jordan Davis and
- 9:17Speaker 2: what he did in this game. Not just Jalen Carter
- 9:20Speaker 2: and Jordan Davis with the field goal block, the first
- 9:23Speaker 2: one in the fourth quarter, and then we had Jordan
- 9:26Speaker 2: Davis winning this game for this team with the I
- 9:30Speaker 2: mean they probably were gonna the Eagles were probably gonna
- 9:33Speaker 2: win anyway, perhaps perhaps, but needed that field goal block
- 9:36Speaker 2: and then taking it down the field for the touchdown
- 9:38Speaker 2: to make it thirty three to twenty six. Jordan Davis
- 9:41Speaker 2: the MVP of this game for sure, Matt.
- 9:45Speaker 4: You know, last year, on the back half of the season,
- 9:49Speaker 4: you absolutely saw Jordan Davis able to make some plays
- 9:54Speaker 4: when the quarterbacks would break contain, yeah, be able to
- 9:57Speaker 4: chase the guy down to the sideline, which is so important.
- 10:03Speaker 4: And they talked all off season about how he had
- 10:07Speaker 4: dropped about twenty or thirty pounds and so you can
- 10:11Speaker 4: you absolutely saw it. You saw it on a critical
- 10:14Speaker 4: scramble of Stafford today and he would not have been
- 10:19Speaker 4: able to have the gas to take it all the
- 10:23Speaker 4: way to the crib last season. Yes, to be honest
- 10:26Speaker 4: with me, yes, absolutely. It's amazing credit to him for
- 10:29Speaker 4: preparing himself for the moment and now he's just gonna
- 10:34Speaker 4: you know, his teammates are just this is such a
- 10:36Speaker 4: good team. These guys really celebrate and pour into each
- 10:40Speaker 4: other in that locker room right now. I bet they're
- 10:43Speaker 4: all talking about JD and about how proud they are
- 10:46Speaker 4: of him, and that's only going to inspire him to
- 10:48Speaker 4: play better. And if Jordan Davis is another nightmare for
- 10:52Speaker 4: people to worry about, good luck to folks, because you've
- 10:56Speaker 4: got Jayalen Carter who's one of the best players football.
- 11:00Speaker 4: And if they've really got a key in O number ninety,
- 11:03Speaker 4: I don't, I don't, you know, it's it's it's interesting
- 11:06Speaker 4: to even be having this conversation because in the first
- 11:09Speaker 4: half I was very pissed with the defensive line.
- 11:15Speaker 3: Yes, couldn't get pressure at all.
- 11:19Speaker 2: It was crazy. It was crazy how they just could
- 11:22Speaker 2: not get pressure and get through that Rams offensive line,
- 11:26Speaker 2: not a terrible offensive line, but they couldn't do it.
- 11:29Speaker 3: It was great to see.
- 11:30Speaker 2: But look, I mean, we do also have to talk
- 11:32Speaker 2: about a glaring just kind of like this glaring, I
- 11:37Speaker 2: feel like it's a black eye on the defense, and
- 11:40Speaker 2: that really is the cornerback two position.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Matt.
- 11:43Speaker 2: How many times are we seeing adri Jackson still getting
- 11:46Speaker 2: cooked out there, cooked and cooked on.
- 11:48Speaker 4: I've seen enough, I know I have.
- 11:50Speaker 2: And then Ja Coryan Bennett comes out played well, played decent,
- 11:54Speaker 2: I would say, but man, he got away with some
- 11:57Speaker 2: holding and some pass interference calls. Thankfully, huh, thankfully those
- 12:01Speaker 2: were not called on him. However, I don't know if
- 12:05Speaker 2: Jaquoran Bennett isn't necessarily the answer either.
- 12:07Speaker 3: It seems like this is really the Achilles heel of
- 12:10Speaker 3: this defense at this point.
- 12:13Speaker 4: I totally agree with you, Jeff, I totally agree. I
- 12:16Speaker 4: think the light at the end of the tunnel with
- 12:20Speaker 4: this conversation is going back to the summer with the
- 12:24Speaker 4: Micah Parsons situation. The information that's come out about that
- 12:28Speaker 4: subsequently has let us know that the Eagles put an
- 12:32Speaker 4: offer on the table that was bigger than what the
- 12:35Speaker 4: Packers had offered, but Jerry just didn't want to ship
- 12:38Speaker 4: him inside the NFC East. That tells me that that
- 12:41Speaker 4: how he's still swinging for the fences, and if there's
- 12:44Speaker 4: a deal to be made for a corner for that
- 12:46Speaker 4: cornerback too, he's gonna go and get it. And I
- 12:50Speaker 4: hope that it happens soon because Adorri, he's just simply
- 12:54Speaker 4: not good. Jackryan is fine, but the quarter these wide
- 12:59Speaker 4: receivers are really good in this league, and you know
- 13:03Speaker 4: they played. They played pretty well. I mean, VIC can
- 13:06Speaker 4: only scheme it up so well. You know, you're really
- 13:10Speaker 4: gonna need that second cornerback, and I don't think you're
- 13:13Speaker 4: gonna be able to get. Just to set expectation for folks,
- 13:16Speaker 4: don't expect a name like a Sauce Gardener somebody like that.
- 13:20Speaker 4: That's that's amazing, or a Denzel Ward, but a good
- 13:24Speaker 4: solid cornerback too. Who you know it's it's it's barbecue
- 13:29Speaker 4: chicken back there with Dori Jackson. You can see the
- 13:32Speaker 4: corner the cornerbacks on third down checking looking where number
- 13:36Speaker 4: eight is and I'm just going there. You cannot have
- 13:40Speaker 4: that we're playing important at which we expect, which we will, folks,
- 13:46Speaker 4: be playing important football in January. You cannot have a
- 13:50Speaker 4: guy like that.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Sorry, Dory, if you're listening, I hate to rag on
- 13:56Speaker 4: you like this, but.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I gotta tell you though, we're honest here at the
- 14:02Speaker 2: pst PAC podcast show. Matt is always honest over at
- 14:05Speaker 2: the Honorable Mention Podcast. You can subscribe on YouTube and
- 14:08Speaker 2: whatever audio podcast platform you're listening to us on, Buddy,
- 14:12Speaker 2: I think that's gonna be it. Before we go to
- 14:13Speaker 2: break here and then we're gonna get to our grades.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Do you have any other themes you wanted to get
- 14:17Speaker 2: into before we had to break?
- 14:19Speaker 4: No? Absolutely, we hit them all good.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I think we hit them all.
- 14:22Speaker 2: We're gonna go to break, folks when we get back,
- 14:24Speaker 2: We're gonna grade each unit as we do after every
- 14:27Speaker 2: Eagles game.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Stick with us.
- 14:29Speaker 2: All right, we are back and again with our friend
- 14:32Speaker 2: Matt Rodgers from the Honorable Mention podcast. Let's get into
- 14:35Speaker 2: these grades. Jalen Hurts mentioned his stats before. I'm gonna
- 14:39Speaker 2: give Jalen this week a B plus and look, a
- 14:44Speaker 2: tale of two halves, for God's sake, I mean it
- 14:46Speaker 2: was a tale of two halves. A B plus I
- 14:49Speaker 2: think is fair and given what we wanted to see
- 14:52Speaker 2: from him, you know at the end of the game,
- 14:54Speaker 2: in the second half in general. You outlined it earlier
- 14:57Speaker 2: in one of the themes Matt that we dove in to.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I think a B plus is fair. I don't know
- 15:02Speaker 2: what do you give him?
- 15:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's about right. I mean that first
- 15:05Speaker 4: half was horrendous. I mean, you can't even it would
- 15:09Speaker 4: be an F. It would be a low F too.
- 15:12Speaker 4: If you're if you're if this was a numerical grading situation.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I mean, he was in the teams, but then that
- 15:18Speaker 4: that that second half was I wouldn't say perfect, but
- 15:23Speaker 4: you know, because you did have the FuMB, the set,
- 15:25Speaker 4: you know, the the fumble, but it was really really
- 15:29Speaker 4: good football. And I mean, you just gotta you just
- 15:32Speaker 4: gotta commend the metal that the Jalen Hurts has so
- 15:35Speaker 4: many situations where it's like, you've got to get this
- 15:38Speaker 4: six yards, You've got to get this five yards. You know,
- 15:41Speaker 4: if you know you don't convert this fourth down, the
- 15:43Speaker 4: games over, the season's over, everybody's gonna talk about He
- 15:47Speaker 4: knows everything that's being said about him, So I get
- 15:49Speaker 4: I commend him so much for his leadership and it
- 15:52Speaker 4: just and it just infuses such a confidence into this team.
- 15:56Speaker 4: So I agree with the B plus. But it's it's
- 15:59Speaker 4: shocking because most of the time that ticked off of
- 16:03Speaker 4: the clock in this game, he actually wasn't great except
- 16:09Speaker 4: for the most important part of the game where it
- 16:11Speaker 4: was a damn near A plus football.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely, that's a great way to describe it.
- 16:17Speaker 2: I think too, there's something he said for the way
- 16:19Speaker 2: that he put the offense into the position to fight
- 16:23Speaker 2: and claw and get those six yards that you're talking
- 16:26Speaker 2: about here and there that was needed, you know, the
- 16:28Speaker 2: little out routes to Devonte Smith that ended up being
- 16:31Speaker 2: so crucial and so key in the end with Davonte
- 16:33Speaker 2: Smith scoring the last touchdown. We're gonna get to our
- 16:36Speaker 2: wide receiver grades in just a bit here. But from
- 16:39Speaker 2: a rushing perspective, Saquon Barkley leading rusher on the team
- 16:42Speaker 2: with forty six yards. Jalen Hurts had forty on nine
- 16:46Speaker 2: carries total of eighty six yards three point two yards
- 16:50Speaker 2: per per rush. Just man, the Rams shot just shot
- 16:56Speaker 2: down this rushing attack. I mean, I'm gonna give Saquon
- 16:59Speaker 2: Barkley this week. And maybe it wasn't Barkley himself. Perhaps
- 17:02Speaker 2: it were the lanes just not being there, maybe just
- 17:05Speaker 2: a good Rams defense stuff in the run. But I'm
- 17:08Speaker 2: gonna give it a D. What do you give it?
- 17:10Speaker 4: Yeah? I gotta agree. And if we're saying running backs,
- 17:15Speaker 4: I haven't you know.
- 17:16Speaker 3: It's just same one okay, yeah?
- 17:18Speaker 4: Yeah. And Bigsby on the kick returns, he was a nightmare.
- 17:21Speaker 4: I guess we'll get to him, Okay, So we'll leave
- 17:25Speaker 4: Saqua So just Saquon. Yeah, D plus cnus.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, all right, sounds good. Let's get to the
- 17:33Speaker 2: receiving here. We finally have We finally had the resurgence
- 17:38Speaker 2: because of whether it was play calling, and I think
- 17:40Speaker 2: it was with Kevin Petulo. We finally have ten targets
- 17:44Speaker 2: for aj Brown in this game. He came down with
- 17:47Speaker 2: six for one hundred and nine yards, eighteen point two
- 17:49Speaker 2: yards per reception and a touchdown. Nine targets for Devonte Smith.
- 17:54Speaker 2: He came down with eight balls for sixty yards, seven
- 17:57Speaker 2: point five yards per reception and a touchdown. On Dallas
- 18:00Speaker 2: Goddard only targeted twice, came down with one of those balls,
- 18:03Speaker 2: which was the thirty three yard touchdown. Saquon Barkley caught
- 18:07Speaker 2: four balls for nine yards, John Metchi caught one ball
- 18:09Speaker 2: for eight yards, and Johan Dotson caught one ball for
- 18:12Speaker 2: seven yards for a total of two hundred and twenty
- 18:14Speaker 2: six total receiving yards. I'm gonna give the receivers this
- 18:17Speaker 2: week just because we finally saw them and we have
- 18:20Speaker 2: touchdowns coming from each key receiver in Aj Brown, DeVante Smith,
- 18:25Speaker 2: and Dallas Goddard. I'm gonna give them an a minus
- 18:28Speaker 2: this week. What do you give him? Maybe that's being
- 18:29Speaker 2: a little too generous. But what do you give him, buddy.
- 18:33Speaker 4: I mean, this is kind of if you're looking to
- 18:36Speaker 4: see passing in the ball slung all over the football field,
- 18:40Speaker 4: this is kind of I would expect that this is
- 18:44Speaker 4: Jalen can do it. We saw him do it today.
- 18:46Speaker 4: We saw him do it against the Steelers, we saw
- 18:47Speaker 4: him do it in the Super Bowl. We saw him
- 18:49Speaker 4: do it in the Super Bowl the first Super Bowl
- 18:51Speaker 4: against the Chiefs. He can do it. Yeah, but if
- 18:53Speaker 4: I had to guess, this is probably gonna be more
- 18:56Speaker 4: on the side of the high water mark. And so yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 4: a minus is fair. It's just this is this offense.
- 19:04Speaker 4: This is how it goes. You're not gonna see Aja
- 19:07Speaker 4: for two hundred, DeVante April hundred, Dallas for fifty, you know,
- 19:11Speaker 4: Metchi for fifty. That's not the way that we play.
- 19:14Speaker 4: So today is more on the high side of what
- 19:17Speaker 4: you can see in the box score. They came up
- 19:19Speaker 4: with big catches on you know, got to have it plays.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Even even on one of the throws that that Jalen made,
- 19:28Speaker 4: that was a risky throw that he threw that corner
- 19:31Speaker 4: route and they Dotson number two was surrounded by four rams.
- 19:37Speaker 4: Dotson made a play to break that up. That's an
- 19:40Speaker 4: important play there. I did not like that throw from Jalen,
- 19:44Speaker 4: and it doesn't get noted. Nobody's gonna talk about that
- 19:48Speaker 4: on you know, Get Up in the morning or first Sake.
- 19:51Speaker 4: But that breakup right there changes things because you get
- 19:54Speaker 4: a pick there that gets the other team going, it
- 19:57Speaker 4: gets people on our team, gets the fans. So so
- 20:00Speaker 4: i'd say a minus game today.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Good footballer, absolutely totally agree with that grade. Let's move
- 20:07Speaker 2: to the offensive line, who has certainly had some difficulty,
- 20:11Speaker 2: as we noted earlier before the break when Matt Pryor
- 20:14Speaker 2: was brought in after Lane Johnson's neck injury. I mean,
- 20:18Speaker 2: things were just really rough on that right side of
- 20:20Speaker 2: that offensive line, and again the rush game not really
- 20:24Speaker 2: able to get going. I'm actually going to give the
- 20:26Speaker 2: offensive line this week a see what do you give
- 20:28Speaker 2: a Matt?
- 20:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I gotta say it was not a dominant game
- 20:33Speaker 4: from them by any stretch. I mean I remember one
- 20:38Speaker 4: one game specifically a couple of years ago. We came
- 20:40Speaker 4: on and we ran for over three hundred against the Packers,
- 20:43Speaker 4: and we were just you know, just you know, a
- 20:46Speaker 4: head over heels.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Plus plus plus.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Yeah, we were nowhere close to that nowhere. I mean,
- 20:54Speaker 4: I would not say that they were today. They were
- 20:58Speaker 4: dominant outside of America's favorite play, which is all we
- 21:02Speaker 4: were always dominant on, but absolutely outside of that, this
- 21:06Speaker 4: is nothing to ray home about. They got a lot
- 21:08Speaker 4: of work to do. I go with your grade on this.
- 21:10Speaker 2: All right, Let's move over to the defensive side of
- 21:13Speaker 2: the ball and the defensive line again a tail of
- 21:16Speaker 2: two halves I think for this defensive line. And you know,
- 21:21Speaker 2: there were some good plays made throughout the game, but
- 21:24Speaker 2: man first half was so difficult for them to get
- 21:26Speaker 2: any sort of penetration, any sort of semblance of pressure
- 21:32Speaker 2: on Matt Stafford, who by the way, was only sacked
- 21:34Speaker 2: one time in this game by Jordan Davis. As Jordan
- 21:38Speaker 2: Davis was, you know, running from you know, to the sidelines,
- 21:42Speaker 2: you know, to to get Matt Stafford out of bounds.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And I mean, but at the end of the day,
- 21:48Speaker 2: I think you had some you had some pretty decent play.
- 21:51Speaker 2: And yes, kyn Williams twenty carries ninety four yards four
- 21:55Speaker 2: point seven yards per carry. Blake Korum, I mean, he
- 21:58Speaker 2: had a really nice day with eight carries for fifty
- 22:01Speaker 2: three yards six point six yards per carry. I mean,
- 22:04Speaker 2: I'm gonna give the defensive line this week a B minus,
- 22:07Speaker 2: and maybe that's generous.
- 22:08Speaker 3: I don't know what are you going to give them
- 22:10Speaker 3: this week, buddy.
- 22:12Speaker 4: It's hard because Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter were playing
- 22:17Speaker 4: defensive line. It was special teams, but they are right
- 22:20Speaker 4: there at their normal positions when they make the key
- 22:24Speaker 4: plays of the game. And I know it's not a
- 22:26Speaker 4: special team's thing, but it's their players. I mean, I
- 22:31Speaker 4: know it's not defensive line, but they're defensive line men
- 22:35Speaker 4: who made those plays. So it kind of skews the grade.
- 22:39Speaker 2: But they're still getting their hands up. Though they're still
- 22:41Speaker 2: getting their hands up, there's deflections. Nolan Smith made some
- 22:44Speaker 2: key tackles also as well in this game too, Jlex
- 22:49Speaker 2: Hunt getting in the face, love Matt Stafford as well.
- 22:52Speaker 2: So I mean that's why I'm giving the B minus.
- 22:54Speaker 2: So like, it wasn't a dominant sack game by any means,
- 22:58Speaker 2: not a lot of tackles for loss either, but the
- 23:01Speaker 2: guys made plays. I thought when they needed to make
- 23:03Speaker 2: those plays. I think that might be what you're saying
- 23:05Speaker 2: as well.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I agree, absolutely, and I think that I think they're
- 23:10Speaker 4: due for some strip sacks late. They missed a couple
- 23:12Speaker 4: in the Cowboys game, they missed a couple in the
- 23:15Speaker 4: Chiefs game. One today on the deep ball that DeVante
- 23:18Speaker 4: Smith did push off on whatever touchdown, because aj might
- 23:21Speaker 4: have done it a little bit of the same his touchdown. Right,
- 23:25Speaker 4: if you look, Zadarius Smith's coming off the left tackle
- 23:28Speaker 4: and he's he's really close. So they're they're due and
- 23:33Speaker 4: they're on their way. I think B C plus B
- 23:37Speaker 4: minuses in the right neighborhood.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree, I think so to Look, I'm appreciative
- 23:41Speaker 2: of the seven quarterback hits and you know, there was
- 23:44Speaker 2: again one sack, only two tackles for a loss. But
- 23:48Speaker 2: I'm happy with the seven quarterback hits for sure. But
- 23:51Speaker 2: let's move to the linebackers. Buddy and Zach Bond always
- 23:55Speaker 2: a beast. He actually had two past defenses today that
- 23:59Speaker 2: he had and yeah, he may have only had like
- 24:01Speaker 2: three solo tackles seven total tackles, but he and Jihad
- 24:05Speaker 2: Campbell Gid Campbell with eight total tackles, five solo on
- 24:09Speaker 2: the day. They're getting it done. So I'm gonna give
- 24:12Speaker 2: both of those I'm gonna give him a B plus.
- 24:14Speaker 2: What do you give them?
- 24:16Speaker 4: I'm giving them an A. I think that, Zach, when
- 24:19Speaker 4: people are watching the game, they'll see Kyron Williams running
- 24:23Speaker 4: all over the Eagles and say, like, hey, the linebacker's
- 24:26Speaker 4: got to shut it down. That's the linebacker's fault. What
- 24:29Speaker 4: the Rams were doing was they were doing a really
- 24:31Speaker 4: really good job of scheming things up, bringing their federmations
- 24:34Speaker 4: into having Pooka and DeVante Adams run blocking into Another
- 24:39Speaker 4: reason why mister Jackson number eight isn't great is because
- 24:45Speaker 4: he is not bringing the right intensity to tackle and
- 24:49Speaker 4: to human beings. Yes, yeah, he does not like touching
- 24:54Speaker 4: human beings.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Don't touch me. Don't touch me.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Why do I have these shoulder pads a lot? Got?
- 25:08Speaker 4: Where's your flag at, sir?
- 25:09Speaker 3: Yes? Exactly? Very good, very good.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Well, speaking of secondary players, I mean, let's talk about
- 25:16Speaker 2: this secondary man, Like, honestly, I think like this is
- 25:19Speaker 2: gonna be a tough grade because there was some absolute
- 25:22Speaker 2: horrendous play by the secondary and there was also some
- 25:26Speaker 2: really good play Boy roller coaster ride for this. For
- 25:29Speaker 2: this secondary, I think I think at the end of
- 25:31Speaker 2: the day, I'm gonna give him a C plus. To
- 25:33Speaker 2: be honest, I think C plus is fair.
- 25:35Speaker 4: I don't know what are you thinking, I'm thinking the same.
- 25:39Speaker 4: I just I'm just sick of a Dori Jackson. I
- 25:41Speaker 4: just I know.
- 25:42Speaker 2: I just look at all the yards Puka Nukua and
- 25:46Speaker 2: then yes, he got fifteen targets in this game, came
- 25:49Speaker 2: down with eleven balls for one hundred and twelve yards
- 25:52Speaker 2: and averaged ten point two yards per reception. And DeVante
- 25:55Speaker 2: Adams had eight targets on the day, but he only
- 25:58Speaker 2: came down with three balls on the day for fifty
- 26:00Speaker 2: six yards and yes, a touchdown, but still like it
- 26:03Speaker 2: was just an up and down day, which is why
- 26:05Speaker 2: I'm giving them a C plus to this Eagle secondary.
- 26:09Speaker 4: Yeah, they've got a that's if this team. I will
- 26:12Speaker 4: go back to what I said at the very beginning,
- 26:14Speaker 4: just to repeat it. I do think this Eagles team
- 26:16Speaker 4: is the best team in football. But if there is
- 26:18Speaker 4: an achilles heel, it's that CB two spot and it
- 26:21Speaker 4: could kill them.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, it absolutely could.
- 26:25Speaker 2: All right, let's move over to the units, and I'm
- 26:29Speaker 2: talking offense, defense, special teams that coaching. Let's start off
- 26:33Speaker 2: with special teams. Matt, you mentioned it earlier, Buddy Tank
- 26:36Speaker 2: Bigsby and John Metchi. Holy cow, they kept dropping kick returns.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I think they dropped like five or six returns, which
- 26:43Speaker 2: was a complete joke. The Eagles looked totally unprepared to
- 26:46Speaker 2: handle Josh Carty's knuckleball kickoffs or whatever the hell they're called.
- 26:50Speaker 3: I mean, holy cow.
- 26:52Speaker 2: But then you have Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis with
- 26:54Speaker 2: the first field goal block and of course the last
- 26:57Speaker 2: field goal block for a touchdown by Jordan Davis. I
- 27:01Speaker 2: think you gotta I think you gotta give special teams
- 27:03Speaker 2: in a this week, right you.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Do with It's like they said, you like to correct
- 27:10Speaker 4: after a loss. It's a it's gonna be a weird
- 27:13Speaker 4: conversation in the locker room, like you know with Michael Clay,
- 27:16Speaker 4: Like a great breaking job this week, guys. Yeah, and
- 27:18Speaker 4: then you're kind of like peering out of the side
- 27:20Speaker 4: of your eye at Tank and at John, like you know,
- 27:23Speaker 4: I ain't gonna say nothing to you right now, but
- 27:25Speaker 4: you know what you did. I know what you did
- 27:27Speaker 4: last summer.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Look, Brandon Mann was averaging fifty five yards per punt.
- 27:35Speaker 3: That's it.
- 27:35Speaker 2: There's something to be said for that. Jake Elliott making
- 27:37Speaker 2: all three of his extra points too. I don't know,
- 27:40Speaker 2: I'm giving special teams in A. Is that what you
- 27:41Speaker 2: would give him as well?
- 27:43Speaker 4: Yeah? I was saying, Jeff, I'm sorry with the technical difficulties,
- 27:47Speaker 4: but you cannot end a game with a three hundred,
- 27:50Speaker 4: three hundred and thirty six pounds man when streaking down
- 27:53Speaker 4: the middle of the field taking one to the house
- 27:55Speaker 4: with You can't give that under an A. They would
- 27:57Speaker 4: have had to have. You know of our own missed
- 28:02Speaker 4: field goals, shank punts. Yep, you win a game on
- 28:05Speaker 4: that note. Plays later, they just are weighted. It's like
- 28:09Speaker 4: your final exams. Yeah, your final exam ninety percent, no grade.
- 28:13Speaker 4: So go ahead.
- 28:14Speaker 1: R A.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Jordan Davis.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Oh gosh, Well, let's move over to the defense. Vic Fangio,
- 28:22Speaker 2: the game that he called, how this personnel performed. I'm
- 28:26Speaker 2: gonna be honest, I'm gonna give a C plus. I'm
- 28:28Speaker 2: gonna give Vic Fangio and the defensive calling a C
- 28:30Speaker 2: plus this week.
- 28:31Speaker 3: What do you give him?
- 28:32Speaker 4: It's the it's the Tale of two Halves thing again, Jeff.
- 28:36Speaker 4: It's you know, leading up to them scoring twenty six.
- 28:39Speaker 4: It's it's horse it's horseshit. Yeah, but then they didn't
- 28:44Speaker 4: score again, right, and so it's I'll go I'll give
- 28:51Speaker 4: I'll go B because I do absolutely at this point
- 28:54Speaker 4: now with I guess twenty something in the low twenties,
- 28:59Speaker 4: mid twenties, these games that I've watched Vic Fangio coaching
- 29:03Speaker 4: this defense, I do have a confidence as the second
- 29:06Speaker 4: half approaches, or as you know the clock starts ticking
- 29:10Speaker 4: in the second half, that Vic has made adjustments and
- 29:13Speaker 4: he is going to it's always going to be better
- 29:16Speaker 4: in the second half. This is I'm gonna go with a.
- 29:21Speaker 4: I'm gonna go with a B minus overall.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Okay, Okay, look I said C plus B minus. I
- 29:26Speaker 2: think it's fair and quite frankly, I think it's probably
- 29:28Speaker 2: gonna be the same type of grade they're gonna give
- 29:31Speaker 2: to Kevin Patullo and Nick Sirianni for the offense, because.
- 29:34Speaker 3: It's the same thing.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah, do a thing in the first half, seven points
- 29:39Speaker 2: in the first quarter off that that what was it
- 29:41Speaker 2: their second drive or the first drive of the game,
- 29:44Speaker 2: and then just nothing, a nothing burger consistently for well
- 29:49Speaker 2: over basically close to twenty some minutes. It was it
- 29:53Speaker 2: was ridiculous. Yes, all the three and out. So I'm
- 29:56Speaker 2: going C plus B minus area for the offensive coaching.
- 30:00Speaker 3: What do you give them?
- 30:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I gotta I agree with you. They played. I
- 30:09Speaker 4: think the players made plays. I think it to some degree.
- 30:13Speaker 4: I think that was the genius of the second half.
- 30:16Speaker 5: Was like, Okay, now we're just gonna got a Jonte,
- 30:22Speaker 5: Jalen and Sequal do what they do and go and
- 30:25Speaker 5: win the game for us.
- 30:27Speaker 4: So I'll go with a little bit lower because they've
- 30:31Speaker 4: really gotta they've got to clean this up. I'm gonna
- 30:33Speaker 4: go with a C.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Okay, all right, sounds good to me, man, sounds good.
- 30:38Speaker 3: That's gonna do it for us folks. Again.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Week three of this Philadelphia Eagles twenty twenty five twenty
- 30:43Speaker 2: twenty six season now in the books. They beat the
- 30:46Speaker 2: Los Angeles Rams by a score thirty three to twenty
- 30:48Speaker 2: six down at the Link. Man, they are atop the
- 30:52Speaker 2: NFC East here amazing And again want to thank our
