Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to World View Matters, discussing controversial issues, discerning current events,
- 0:10defending biblical Christianity.
- 0:13No topic, off limits.
- 0:16And now, here's your host, David Firazzo.
- 0:19Hey, friends, family and Christ, thank you so much for tuning in and of course for sharing
- 0:24the podcast.
- 0:25I can't wait to get to our guest, there's a brand new book out called When Persecution
- 0:29Comes.
- 0:31And I just want to read a little bit and we'll get right into our guest, Charles
- 0:34Chris Meyer, progressive policies are leading the way toward persecution of Christians in
- 0:41the United States.
- 0:43According to Attorney Charles Chris Meyer, what's making life hard for Christians in America
- 0:47is the secular progressives who are committed to their own religious system and refused
- 0:55to accept any dissent and we've seen this growing, we've seen more threats, more against
- 1:00religious freedom, against Bible-believing Christians in our country and it's probably
- 1:05going to increase but that's why we've got a book to go to that prepares our hearts
- 1:10for perilous times.
- 1:11Charles Chris Meyer, welcome to World View Matters, good to see you.
- 1:14Well, it's my privilege, David and this is a tough subject, I know it's a tough subject
- 1:22but I believe that God inspired me to write this book as an act of mercy because He knows
- 1:28what's coming and He wants us to be prepared.
- 1:31Yeah, and I mean Paul, there's other places in the Bible that warn about persecution, anyone
- 1:36who wants to live for Christ, live a godly life, persecution is almost guaranteed but
- 1:42we've had such, it's America is such an anomaly with our Constitution and the First Amendment,
- 1:47the protections we have here that not as much as we used to because we see things changing,
- 1:53would you care to speak to that before we dive into the book, we've kind of been spoiled
- 1:56here haven't we?
- 1:57Well, we have, we think of ourselves as an exceptionalist nation and in many respects
- 2:04we are but so is Israel an exceptionalist nation, Israel was, you know, formed as a covenant
- 2:11with God, God chose them specifically so you can't get more exceptionalistic than that.
- 2:18But we have had an exceptionalist nation because of our government, our government was made
- 2:22for a moral and Christian people and is wholly inadequate to the government of any other,
- 2:27our second president told us but on the other hand, we have a situation here because we
- 2:33think we're the exception, we almost kind of formed the tacit opinion that we're the
- 2:40exception even to God's rule, even to God's warnings and wooings and isn't it interesting
- 2:47that all of the warnings of Scripture specifically in the New Testament are directed to Christians
- 2:53and not directed to pagans, they're not directed to the world, they're directed to Christians.
- 2:58So when Jesus said that if they persecuted me, they're going to persecute you, why do you
- 3:04think you should be different than your Lord?
- 3:06And the Apostle Paul said, as you quoted, all who live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer
- 3:11persecution when Peter warned about it, John warned about it, James Jesus brother warned
- 3:16about it, you would think perhaps that we might take it seriously in our country.
- 3:21The problem is we are so adept to submitting to the market that we actually have converted
- 3:28the master into a mere mascot even in God's own house.
- 3:33So there's a sense in which we serve the market and therefore messages such as this which
- 3:40are a message of God's mercy and compassion for us to prepare to get ready are just not
- 3:45all that easily receivable.
- 3:48Charles, I first of all, the people that endorsed your book, my goodness, Dr. Erwin Lutzer,
- 3:55Dr. Michael Brown, I mean, just looking at Dr. Robert Jeffress, David Coupelian, he wrote
- 4:00a phenomenal book called The Marketing of Evil about maybe 15 years ago, but Joseph
- 4:05Ferra, a lot of men and godly men of God endorsed this book.
- 4:12And we need to be ready for this because as you said, we have not really been challenged
- 4:16like we are seeing a Christian challenge now or the church being silenced in many ways
- 4:22in our culture.
- 4:23But I wanted to ask you before we go on, you were a public school teacher, you were a trial
- 4:27attorney, now you're a radio broadcaster, where can people hear your show viewpoint?
- 4:32Well, thank you, David.
- 4:34Actually, the show viewpoint could be heard via our website, save us.org, save us.org.
- 4:42And as we've discovered in recent years, probably 70% of all of our listeners listen via
- 4:49podcasts now.
- 4:51So they can go to the website, save us.org, and under viewpoint, they can sign up there
- 4:57for the podcast and begin to listen anytime of the day or night, anywhere in the world via
- 5:02their cell phone.
- 5:03And just recently, by the way, we had someone contact us from Nepal right under the slopes
- 5:11of Mount Everest listening to this program.
- 5:13Wow, you're getting out there.
- 5:15That's awesome.
- 5:16You got to believe it, brother.
- 5:18Praise God.
- 5:19So save us.org, save America with established as a nonprofit dedicated to rebuilding the
- 5:26foundations of America's faith and freedom, bringing a life changing message of repentance,
- 5:32righteousness and reconciliation to a nation in acute moral and spiritual distress.
- 5:38And let's point out before we move on, regardless of whatever happens, happens politically.
- 5:43And a fortunate outcome in my view of the election we just had in America, we are still
- 5:49a nation in need of repentance.
- 5:51We are still a nation that's in moral and spiritual distress, as you write about.
- 5:57And these are times where we need to be ready for what's coming.
- 6:01So right off the top, Charles, most people of faith, most people that are paying attention,
- 6:06I should say, realize that the tide is shifting and persecution or discrimination leading
- 6:11to persecution is increasing in America.
- 6:15So how can we respond to this?
- 6:17How can we get more people in the church to be ready for this?
- 6:21But how else can we respond to that?
- 6:24Well, to respond is one thing to recognize the need is another thing.
- 6:31We're not going to respond if we don't recognize the need.
- 6:34So how is this coming about?
- 6:37Well, the easiest way to understand it, first of all, to respond to your initial statement,
- 6:42our politics are downstream from our moral and spiritual condition, not the opposite.
- 6:49So when we have red states and blue states, those are really political designations of graphic
- 6:56or great areas of the country that have either abandoned totally the fear of the Lord
- 7:01or are still holding onto the fear of the Lord in some significant way.
- 7:06That's the best way to understand the attitudes, the political standards and so on, coming
- 7:12out of those areas of the country.
- 7:14But when we look at the development of this condition, first of all, we know that it's
- 7:21going to happen because Jesus and His apostles all told us and warned us it was going to happen
- 7:26and why do they do that so that we would be prepared?
- 7:29They didn't want it to take us on a wears, wanted us to be prepared.
- 7:34But as merciful, he desires that we come into a firm and complete relationship with
- 7:41him and maintain that through righteous living.
- 7:45The problem with persecution is that it pressures us into unrighteous living.
- 7:52It pressures us in a way that it sets the stage for us to either in whole or in part
- 8:01reneg on our total confidence and allegiance to Christ.
- 8:07And of course, the ultimate expression of that is the mark of the beast that forth in
- 8:12Revelation 13 and 14, where this pledge of allegiance through a mark to a counterfeit
- 8:21Christ and His system, called the beast system, a globalist system is going to put such pressure
- 8:30on people that the majority are going to fall away.
- 8:34It's just that simple.
- 8:36Because when no one will be able to buy or sell, unless you have taken this mark, which
- 8:41is a pledge of allegiance to trust a godless government and its godless anti-Christ leader,
- 8:50you know that the majority of the people who are living by their feelings are just going
- 8:55to capitulate.
- 8:56They just are.
- 8:58And so the danger in this country in particular with regard to that is we have been seduced
- 9:04for the past 50 years to live almost exclusively according to our feelings.
- 9:09Yet it began as a result of the sexual revolution and the complete rebellion against all authority
- 9:17in the 1960s that metastasized into the church and the godless love movement in the early
- 9:231970s, right out of Pasadena, Southern California, where I was living.
- 9:27And then after the initial church growth movement that caused us to compromise so much of the
- 9:36king edges of our faith and the truth of God's word, metastasized into the secret sensitive
- 9:42movement that reduced even the more so, our call to obedience to the Lord.
- 9:48And so the word obey now according to many pastors has become the most hated word in
- 9:54the church.
- 9:55Now if that be true, you can see that we're set up for a fall.
- 10:00We just are set up for a fall.
- 10:03And so God knows this.
- 10:06He understands our situation.
- 10:07He's a father and he does not want any to perish, but that all should come to repentance
- 10:12and should all come to walk in, shall we say, firmness of their faith so that they will
- 10:22not be tempted to capitulate when the trials come.
- 10:27So this is really what the book is about.
- 10:30The centerpiece of the book are three chapters actually, which I think are the greatest expression
- 10:36of tangible mercy of God dealing with first with parents, parents and persecution.
- 10:44How should parents respond?
- 10:46What can we do?
- 10:47Why should we do it?
- 10:48Well, it's because God has delegated to moms and dads to stand in his shoes with regard
- 10:55to our children.
- 10:56His children actually, our children actually belong to him and where his surrogate parents
- 11:01to train them, he trusts us to do that.
- 11:04And so that's our first responsibility.
- 11:06The second one of those three chapters deals with fathers.
- 11:10Well, guess what?
- 11:12God is a father and he knows that he is, he's delegated to all fathers, the responsibility
- 11:18to raise up their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord with their wives
- 11:22as they help me.
- 11:24The problem is that the wives have been left to do that while the husbands have reneged
- 11:29on the job.
- 11:31So fathers need to be called to a new vision, which I did with my book Hearts of the Fathers
- 11:38leaving a legacy that lasts.
- 11:40Guess what?
- 11:41Two-thirds of all those books were purchased by women, David.
- 11:44Why do you think that is?
- 11:46Because the women have been crying out for 30, 40 years, why can't or want my husband
- 11:51because the spiritual leader of our home.
- 11:54So it was a book to give hope, a vision for dads not to just take their kids out to
- 12:01the ballgame and buy some peanuts and crack, cracker jacks, but to learn how to become a
- 12:06genuine spiritual leader with their kids.
- 12:10And then the, the third of that centerpiece set of chapters deals with the family.
- 12:18Jesus himself warned that some of the most severe and painful persecution would come
- 12:23within our own families.
- 12:26He made it very explicit.
- 12:28And then he also said that not only would it come within our own families with husbands
- 12:33and wives and children betray one another, but it also would happen within his own house.
- 12:39So betrayal would happen within his own house.
- 12:43And so how do we approach this?
- 12:46What kind of pressure is it?
- 12:48How does this pressure develop that would lead us to betray one another, to capitulate
- 12:54and not be able to stay under the evil day?
- 12:58Well it's interesting.
- 12:59We saw a lot that opened our eyes, I think, during COVID from 2020 on.
- 13:05And I always shocked how many people capitulated, how, how the church is, not all churches,
- 13:11but how most churches maybe responded.
- 13:13And then how we were fearful and the media drove that.
- 13:17I know it became a political issue and everything else.
- 13:21It was a mess.
- 13:22We saw how the church reacted.
- 13:23I was a little disappointed by that.
- 13:25But when it comes to persecution now, we're going to see things a little differently.
- 13:30We're going to still see the church, how the church in America reacts.
- 13:35But we're also going to see how individuals in families, as you said.
- 13:39And before I forget, I just want to send people to your bookstore.
- 13:44And that's over at saveus.org under books, under store.
- 13:49Last you can get that book, Hearts of the Fathers and many of your other books.
- 13:53That's so important, Charles, what you just said about fathers because we've lost that.
- 13:58And you're right.
- 13:59A lot of dads, a lot of fathers want to be looked up to as the dad that takes you out to
- 14:05a sports activity or something.
- 14:07But that's not the role, the biblical role of dads.
- 14:11And we've lost that because the moms have out of necessity taken over in many cases.
- 14:17So would you speak to one more issue before we take our break?
- 14:23You suggest the secret sensitive movement.
- 14:24You mentioned that.
- 14:25I agree with you that it has done great harm to the church.
- 14:30The watering down the gospel, being sensitive to trying to draw in the world and not talk
- 14:37about anything controversial, that whole secret sensitive nonsense.
- 14:41Speak to that as to why you believe it's done great harm to the church in America.
- 14:47Well, first of all, it began with the church growth movement in the 1970s.
- 14:51That was precipitated by the God's love movement in the 1970s that picked up the encounter
- 15:00and touchy-feely movement in the secular world and in the public schools, which by the way,
- 15:05I was a immediate participant of because that's when it started in the late 1960s, early 1970s.
- 15:12We had to go through a special training to re-assess or reform how we would speak to kids.
- 15:19We were no longer able to say, this is true, this is right, this is a fact, and so on,
- 15:26or I believe.
- 15:27No, we were told, from now on, you have to say, I feel, I feel, I feel.
- 15:34Well, from that, the church picked that up in the God's love movement in the 1970s.
- 15:41Yes, God is love, but He's not just love.
- 15:43He's truth, He's judgment, He's justice, and that part of the gospel coin was cut away,
- 15:51was not emphasized in the 1970s because it was believed it wouldn't sell well,
- 15:56it wouldn't market well to draw more secularists into the church.
- 16:03So remember, it was all about church growth.
- 16:05But Jesus said, I'll build my church, you make disciples.
- 16:09We decided it would be better to build churches and not make disciples,
- 16:14because you can't measure making disciples, but you can measure how many people you signed up for your church.
- 16:21So it was all about marketing.
- 16:23So the market became the master, and the master Christ became little more than a mascot.
- 16:30Now, if you turn that into the secret sensitive movement, which was the church growth movement on steroids,
- 16:38it cut away all of the keen edges of obedience, of truth, so that for the last eight years,
- 16:45I've had many, many a pastor and parent church leader on my radio program viewpoint,
- 16:51where I've asked the question, what is the most hate and word in the church today?
- 16:56And every one of them said the word obey.
- 16:59It's become a four-letter word in God's own house.
- 17:02Why?
- 17:03Because we've rationalized that obedience is a gospel of works.
- 17:07Yet Jesus said in Matthew, excuse me, in John chapter 14, four times,
- 17:12if you love me, you keep my commandments.
- 17:14If you don't love me, you won't.
- 17:15But if you do love me and keep my commandments, I and my father will manifest ourselves to you.
- 17:20So what this has done, it is so diminished the strength of the Christian faith
- 17:27in the vast majority of people in this country that profess to be Christians,
- 17:33one even wonders whether they are.
- 17:35Let me show you how far this has gone with regard to our young people.
- 17:39Our young people now, George Bartis says that in the last eight years,
- 17:44only 20% of professing Christian young people believe that Jesus Christ is the only way,
- 17:50the only truth in the only life.
- 17:53By the way, that's the threshold belief for even being a Christian.
- 17:58So only, that means only 80% of professing Christian young people under 40 years of age
- 18:06in this country do not believe that Jesus Christ is the only way, the only truth in the only life.
- 18:11So they are prepared to succumb to the new agglonetized religion that's going to be marketed
- 18:20to the world to usher in the new global government.
- 18:24And Barnal also said 92% adhere to syncretism as far as believing different kinds of beliefs together
- 18:33trying to combine different religious views and beliefs.
- 18:36Well, even the Pope believes that.
- 18:38Yeah, the Pope came out a couple of weeks ago and said,
- 18:40all religions worship the same God.
- 18:43Think about that.
- 18:44The victor of Christ says all religions worship the same God.
- 18:47He's setting us up for the merger of an entire global government
- 18:52that people will be so attracted to because it purports to bring peace on earth through a new
- 18:59world order.
- 19:00Yeah, peace and safety. We've got to take a brief part.
- 19:03It is.
- 19:03Charles Chris Meyer, the book is called When Persecution Comes.
- 19:07We'll be right back on World View Matters.

- 19:50for your iPhone, our guest today, Charles Chris Meyer.
- 19:53When persecution comes, Charles, you say persecution happens where Christians
- 19:59are seen as a threat to prevailing religious beliefs.
- 20:05And there's so much more to that.
- 20:06But I'm thinking about, okay, what kind of religious beliefs do people have today?
- 20:11Secularism, religion of sex, LGBTQ, globalism, environmentalism.
- 20:18They've made the worship of God, the nature and the environment,
- 20:22a religion instead of worshiping God.
- 20:24Wicca, talk to us a little bit more about that prevailing religious
- 20:29beliefs are threatened by the truth, Bible believing Christianity.
- 20:34Go ahead.
- 20:36Interestingly, Dave, I actually wrote about this in my last book called
- 20:41Messiah, Unvailing the Mystery of the Ages.
- 20:44Messiah, Unvailing the Mystery of the Ages.
- 20:47And what I revealed is that there are dozens of
- 20:52messionic movements in our world.
- 20:55You can call them secular, you can call them religious, whatever you want to call them.
- 20:59But I'd lay them all out there in the book, Messiah, Unvailing the Mystery of the Ages.
- 21:06Now, one of the things that will help us to understand this is,
- 21:10just take a look at what new ages call their religion.
- 21:17They have their own Messiah.
- 21:20They're looking at the cosmic Christ.
- 21:24And here's what they have expressly said.
- 21:27You can read about this in my book.
- 21:29It's, quote, I don't ever put down something that I cannot support.
- 21:34I'm a lawyer, a trial lawyer, and I don't deceive the people and I don't deceive the courts.
- 21:39So I support everything that is said and don't stretch the truth.
- 21:45So here's what the new ageers say.
- 21:47They say that if you don't buy into their fundamental belief system,
- 21:55which by the way is linked to the entire belief system of the coming global government,
- 22:02that you will be and must be selected out of society.
- 22:09Now, that's the term they use.
- 22:10It's a euphemism for removed from the human race.
- 22:13Wow.
- 22:14Now, doesn't that sound like the oncoming persecution?
- 22:19Indeed it is.
- 22:20Selected out.
- 22:21In other words, you're no longer welcome here.
- 22:23How different is that from what happened a couple of weeks ago in a Kamala Harris rally
- 22:30when a couple of guys put up a sign that said Jesus is king and others said Jesus is Lord.
- 22:38And so she laughed and mocked at them openly on television and said you don't belong here.
- 22:47You belong in that rally down the street.
- 22:50Now, what was she saying?
- 22:52She was saying the spirit of Christ as Lord and his king is not welcome in the Democrat party.
- 23:02In other words, there's a whole massive realm in this country that have reneged on the
- 23:08fear of the Lord and they're going to wing it on their own.
- 23:11And if you don't like it, you're out.
- 23:14That's what the war has been about.
- 23:17It's been about globalism and a world government and the effort to completely replace the fear
- 23:25of the Lord in this nation with a completely different system that will be
- 23:32lay the foundation for the anti-Christ to come in and make his devote and control us.
- 23:39So if that's in line and I know our time is short, I think it would be important for me to
- 23:44share something, David.
- 23:45Sure, sure.
- 23:46It might help people.
- 23:47There's a word called tribulation.
- 23:49It's the tea word.
- 23:50And it creates a lot of consternation with a lot of people,
- 23:55theological argumentation and so on.
- 23:57I think we can get around that by understanding what tribulation really is.
- 24:04If you go back to the Greek, the Greek word for tribulation is leapses,
- 24:08kind of hard for us to say leapses, which means pressure.
- 24:13That's what tribulation is.
- 24:15It's pressure.
- 24:16So initially there's going to be a period of growing pressure,
- 24:20just like there was in the French Revolution,
- 24:24just like there was in the French Revolution for several years,
- 24:27until they decided that's not enough pressure.
- 24:31So they brought in more pressure and that was called the great terror.
- 24:36Well, guess what Jesus called the second element or second period of the great pressure
- 24:42in the New Testament, the great tribulation.
- 24:47All it meant was the great pressure.
- 24:49Now, what does pressure do?
- 24:51It tends to force us to capitulate under pressure.
- 24:58Isn't that what peer pressure was all about?
- 25:01An adult's face with exactly the same thing, economic pressures, all kinds of pressures.
- 25:07Well, guess what?
- 25:09What is causing the Jewish people to flee to Israel right now?
- 25:14Pressure, it's called anti-Semitism.
- 25:17And it's growing so dramatically that the chief rabbi of France is
- 25:23get out of here while you can.
- 25:25Get out of France.
- 25:27Amsterdam chief rabbi said, get out of here, this is not recoverable.
- 25:33Now, on the wings of anti-Semitism comes persecution against Gentile believers.
- 25:42That's where we are.
- 25:43That's right.
- 25:44And you also mentioned we don't have time to get into it with less than two minutes.
- 25:47This hatred, there's a connection of the targeting of both Jews and Christians.
- 25:52And some Muslims will even say we're going for the Saturday people first,
- 25:57then we're coming for the Sunday people, meaning the Bible will leave in Christians
- 26:01who worship on Sunday.
- 26:01That's exactly right.
- 26:03Charles Christmire, very important book for these times.
- 26:06People need to get ready not to look at it as a time of dread.
- 26:11I like the way you explain pressure and tribulation.
- 26:14But we have an amazing hope in the last minute and I have to share a little bit about
- 26:18just what we can look forward to because it does end well, doesn't it?
- 26:22It does. Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
- 26:26We do not trust anything else but holy lean on Jesus' name.
- 26:30On Christ the solid rock, we stand all of the ground, political ground.
- 26:35I don't care what political party all of the ground is sinking sand.
- 26:39We can be thankful that we've been given a second reprieve in this country.
- 26:44The world is seeing it that way.
- 26:46A second reprieve.
- 26:48But we cannot put our trust there.
- 26:52We cannot.
- 26:53And so let's seize the time that we have to do the master's will.
- 26:59But the great hope of the church is the second coming of Jesus Christ.
- 27:03The Apostle John said whoever has that open him will purify himself even as Christ is pure.
- 27:10That's part of getting ready.
