Latest / Twin Cities Territory / Twins come up short in Milwaukee; Kaelen Culpepper homers in debut
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Oh so close to an impressive series victory on the
- 0:04Speaker 1: road against the best team in baseball, but the Twins
- 0:07Speaker 1: come up short, drop two out of three to the
- 0:10Speaker 1: Brewers in Milwaukee this weekend as their close game woes continue.
- 0:14Speaker 1: We also saw the debut of Kaitlin Culpepper and a
- 0:16Speaker 1: pretty impressive debut. It was some more solid bullpen pitching
- 0:20Speaker 1: from the new additions to the team since the trade deadline.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We'll talk about all that today on Twins Citi's territory.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Toss us a like or subscribe, however you listen, love
- 0:29Speaker 1: to have you falling along. Thanks. It is Monday, August tenth.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Guys.
- 0:33Speaker 1: When you looked at the Brewers series going into it, frankly,
- 0:37Speaker 1: I was expecting a sweep. On the wrong hand, that
- 0:41Speaker 1: played very well throughout the weekend, just couldn't quite get
- 0:44Speaker 1: that last hit Saturday and Sunday. I never need to
- 0:47Speaker 1: see Luis Laura again. Goodness goodness, some great catching team
- 0:51Speaker 1: made yesterday. But all in all, certainly a lot of
- 0:55Speaker 1: good things to take away, but we're getting the time
- 0:56Speaker 1: of year where we need wins. Quite happened, but certainly, Dan,
- 1:01Speaker 1: I think you come away from that with some things
- 1:03Speaker 1: to feel good about for the final forty some games here.
- 1:06Speaker 3: I think it is it the saying goes close only
- 1:09Speaker 3: counts and horseshoes.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And hand grid correct.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, you know, like a very good series, very
- 1:17Speaker 3: well played series, and yet you lost two of three
- 1:20Speaker 3: and you lost six of nine on the road trip
- 1:23Speaker 3: five by one runs. The Twins are playing better, there's
- 1:27Speaker 3: no question, but at this point of the year, need
- 1:30Speaker 3: to convert those into victories. And it was oh so
- 1:33Speaker 3: close on Sunday. I mean to come back on Jacob Mizrowski,
- 1:36Speaker 3: who you know, you can make your arguments. It's it's
- 1:40Speaker 3: Schemes is down a little bit right now with this velocity.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Some weird things going on there with him. So Scuball
- 1:45Speaker 3: and Miserroski are the two best pitchers right now. I
- 1:48Speaker 3: don't know. I don't know, but Miserowski certainly throws the
- 1:52Speaker 3: hardest and is already at two hundred strikeouts for the season.
- 1:57Speaker 3: He racked up number two hundred yesterday to come back
- 2:01Speaker 3: on him, to hit two home runs on him when
- 2:03Speaker 3: his v low in game diminished to ninety nine from
- 2:08Speaker 3: one three he was averaging in the first You know,
- 2:12Speaker 3: it was impressive to see them do that, and the
- 2:14Speaker 3: Twins showed a lot throughout that game. And then the bullpen,
- 2:18Speaker 3: you know, Connor Prelip held his own, did a good
- 2:20Speaker 3: job because that's a very good Brewers lineup, and you know,
- 2:25Speaker 3: they get to the bullpen and the bullpen did a
- 2:27Speaker 3: really good job too, and the inherited runner came in.
- 2:30Speaker 3: May you look at the Joanders Gomez pitch they threw
- 2:33Speaker 3: on two strikes to Jake Bowers. That was a pretty
- 2:35Speaker 3: good pitch. It was down in a way, and you know,
- 2:38Speaker 3: he just kind of slapped it in the left field
- 2:40Speaker 3: and Bryce Terrange was fast enough to beat the throw
- 2:44Speaker 3: home from Cody Clemens. But that's how close it came.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Because the Twins were one for eleven with runners in
- 2:49Speaker 3: scoring position. The Brewers were two for eleven with runners
- 2:52Speaker 3: in scoring position. So it's not like either team was,
- 2:55Speaker 3: you know, able to do anything on Sunday, and the
- 2:57Speaker 3: Twins hung in the whole way and they get a
- 3:00Speaker 3: little break here there. Louis Lara doesn't catch that ball
- 3:04Speaker 3: hang on to it on the Cody Clemens drive to
- 3:06Speaker 3: the wall. Who knows. I don't think he robbed Brooksley
- 3:10Speaker 3: of a home run. I think he robbed Brooksley of
- 3:13Speaker 3: a double. But I mean, you know, both those those
- 3:17Speaker 3: made a big impact in this game, and the Brewers
- 3:21Speaker 3: just did a little bit more all weekend. You know,
- 3:24Speaker 3: the rally on Saturday. It was extremely close, and the
- 3:28Speaker 3: Twins can come out of that going hey, we played great,
- 3:31Speaker 3: but also they have to come out of it knowing
- 3:33Speaker 3: they lost two or three.
- 3:35Speaker 1: I feel like that brooks Lea catch was spectacular because
- 3:40Speaker 1: he took a bad path to the ball at first.
- 3:43Speaker 1: If he had had the right read, it would have
- 3:44Speaker 1: been a pretty pretty standard catch, but a heck of recovery.
- 3:47Speaker 1: But yes, the one on Cody Clemens, not sure seemed
- 3:50Speaker 1: like it was headed for the wall or further, but
- 3:53Speaker 1: what a play. And Tyler I think definitely penciled in
- 3:57Speaker 1: the Sunday game against miss Rowski as a loss before
- 3:59Speaker 1: it started. But for a team that went into this
- 4:02Speaker 1: series with all sorts of questions about its offense, to
- 4:05Speaker 1: score three against him felt like scoring one hundred.
- 4:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it was one. Like this is a team in
- 4:12Speaker 4: the Brewers that I mean, they're aspirations or World Series,
- 4:15Speaker 4: it feels like right now and they're the best team
- 4:17Speaker 4: in the league. You know, they're kind of that unstoppable
- 4:20Speaker 4: force at the moment, they're just not getting the hype
- 4:22Speaker 4: that other teams may. But you know, like Dan said
- 4:27Speaker 4: on the one run games, like you went and hung
- 4:29Speaker 4: with Milwaukee for three one ball bounces one where or
- 4:33Speaker 4: the other. Lara doesn't catch one of those balls, they
- 4:36Speaker 4: probably start a rallied, you know, things like that. It's
- 4:38Speaker 4: you can take some positives and some losses. You know,
- 4:41Speaker 4: obviously you want to win games. It's always better to win.
- 4:45Speaker 4: But if you're leaving there as a team, you kind
- 4:48Speaker 4: of look around and like, you know, this wasn't our
- 4:50Speaker 4: worst series we've had. You know, we didn't make any huge,
- 4:54Speaker 4: like glaring mistakes when we just gave up a ghost
- 4:57Speaker 4: runner for a walk off. You know, it's just it
- 5:00Speaker 4: was a good series, you know, And like you said,
- 5:02Speaker 4: face the Mesarowski on a Sunday to finish, you know
- 5:05Speaker 4: that it's you put up three on him. You're in
- 5:07Speaker 4: that game for ten innings, Like that's all you can
- 5:09Speaker 4: really ask for.
- 5:11Speaker 3: You know.
- 5:11Speaker 4: It's it's tough to take some of those on the
- 5:13Speaker 4: chin like that, But at the same time, you just
- 5:16Speaker 4: got to win your division, I guess at this point
- 5:18Speaker 4: and look at it that way. You know, the wild
- 5:20Speaker 4: card's great, but beat Cleveland when you need to beat them,
- 5:23Speaker 4: beat the White Sox and and the rest will take
- 5:25Speaker 4: care of itself. And I think that's the perspective to keep.
- 5:28Speaker 4: You know, it's great to beat everybody, it's great to
- 5:31Speaker 4: win a lot of games, but at the end of
- 5:32Speaker 4: the day, win the Central and then that cures all,
- 5:37Speaker 4: you know, And I think there's still a chance to
- 5:38Speaker 4: do that. They were competitive with a Birers team that
- 5:41Speaker 4: is very good, and that's all you can ask for
- 5:43Speaker 4: at the end of the day.
- 5:45Speaker 1: The loss bumped the Twins back to four games behind
- 5:49Speaker 1: the White Sox in the Central in third place. Now
- 5:53Speaker 1: behind the Tigers, who nobody apparently told them that they
- 5:57Speaker 1: were sellers of the deadline. They keep winning. They are
- 6:00Speaker 1: now fifty eight and sixty a half game ahead of
- 6:02Speaker 1: the Twins. Twins a game and a half out in
- 6:04Speaker 1: the wildcard race. But it was certainly competitive, and it
- 6:07Speaker 1: was like that all year against the Brewers. Here's the
- 6:09Speaker 1: season series. The three games in Minnesota back in May
- 6:14Speaker 1: were all one run games. Twins won one of the
- 6:17Speaker 1: three there as well, and then the games this weekend
- 6:20Speaker 1: two one run games, and the Twins with the two
- 6:22Speaker 1: run win on Friday, combined score from six games against
- 6:26Speaker 1: the best team in baseball Milwaukee twenty three Minnesota twenty two,
- 6:30Speaker 1: that World Series is going to be great in a
- 6:31Speaker 1: couple months, guys, I don't know.
- 6:33Speaker 4: That's all I happened.
- 6:35Speaker 3: All seven games with the Snow are all seven games
- 6:38Speaker 3: going to be forced to be?
- 6:39Speaker 5: Right? Milwaukee, They're like, hey, they just set up a
- 6:43Speaker 5: bunch of Twins caravans down like they just have they
- 6:47Speaker 5: shuttle forty thousand people down for the home games the Twins.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Get, I think we can get playing ready on.
- 6:54Speaker 4: The building.
- 6:56Speaker 6: Us.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Thank hey, Duff, did you ever get to pitch in
- 6:59Speaker 3: the Metrono?
- 7:00Speaker 5: You never know?
- 7:01Speaker 4: I was literally like, I think they had Twins fest
- 7:04Speaker 4: in there, like the year before I got drafted.
- 7:06Speaker 5: That was it.
- 7:07Speaker 4: So I never even set foot in the in the place.
- 7:09Speaker 3: And yeah, that's right.
- 7:11Speaker 4: All the things that would have been heard, the stories,
- 7:15Speaker 4: all of them.
- 7:16Speaker 1: You know, I played there. We'll try out for something.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Back in the day. As as a.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Kid, why were the football I wonder why the dimensions
- 7:26Speaker 3: were so wildly different? I mean, I was built as
- 7:28Speaker 3: a multipurpose stadium then, so you know, the way that
- 7:32Speaker 3: football stadiums and baseball stadiums co existed forever, no longer
- 7:37Speaker 3: co exists like a two hundred and eighty foot home er.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I don't know what the dimensions are at US Bank,
- 7:41Speaker 3: but I know that they are very college friendly and
- 7:44Speaker 3: the Gophers are glad to do it. But also I
- 7:47Speaker 3: would hate to be a Gophers pitcher. For those games
- 7:50Speaker 3: that are on the schedule.
- 7:52Speaker 1: We could just put a big wall up for the pros,
- 7:54Speaker 1: you know, green type thing.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Did that in La. They did that when they played
- 7:58Speaker 3: at the LA Coliseum back in the the sixties. That's
- 8:01Speaker 3: where the the phrase moon shot came from because Wally
- 8:04Speaker 3: Moon the fence in at the LA Coliseum was so
- 8:09Speaker 3: short and left I'm gonna look up, how.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Like it was build a wall.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Yeah, so he hit let's see, let's let's actually get
- 8:19Speaker 3: this LA Coliseum fence baseball. This is great stuff.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Live charge for this for the baggy. This is all free.
- 8:29Speaker 3: The LA Coliseum back then was two d and fifty
- 8:34Speaker 3: two two hundred fifty, two hundred and fifty two feet
- 8:37Speaker 3: in left field, but it was a forty two foot
- 8:39Speaker 3: high screen. They called it the screen monster. And so
- 8:45Speaker 3: imagine playing with the wall two hundred and fifty feet
- 8:48Speaker 3: away giant met but Wally Moon could hit it over
- 8:52Speaker 3: the two hundred and fifty foot and so they called
- 8:54Speaker 3: them moon shots. So anyways, yeah, yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 1: So take that one to your part this weekend, everybody,
- 9:01Speaker 1: you can drop some knowledge on your friends.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Yeah right.
- 9:05Speaker 1: The Twins could have used one more moonshot a few
- 9:08Speaker 1: different times this week, segues, that's my thing. They on
- 9:12Speaker 1: this nine game road trip were one in five in
- 9:16Speaker 1: one run games. Of course, lost both of them this weekend,
- 9:19Speaker 1: four to three. It's been a trend this season. They're
- 9:23Speaker 1: fourteen and nineteen I believe is the overall number now
- 9:25Speaker 1: and one run games. But for a team that has,
- 9:29Speaker 1: like the pitching has been there, the hitting came back
- 9:32Speaker 1: a bit this weekend, but it's just not been quite
- 9:35Speaker 1: enough in some key moments this year.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Dan Barron Bucks and getting healthy will be a nice key.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yeah right, yeah, you know, he was on the road trip.
- 9:46Speaker 3: I don't really have anything new as as of I
- 9:49Speaker 3: want to say, Thursday, we talked to him in Kansas City.
- 9:52Speaker 3: He had not started doing baseball activities yet and so
- 9:55Speaker 3: you know, but when he comes back that will be
- 9:58Speaker 3: a big deal. But right now, the Twins are without
- 10:00Speaker 3: there are two all stars Joe Ryan obviously left in
- 10:03Speaker 3: the middle of the trip to go home, and they
- 10:06Speaker 3: we talked about the other day as a gluten strain,
- 10:08Speaker 3: and basically, you know, the Twins need their guys. They
- 10:14Speaker 3: need to start converting these close losses because there's not
- 10:17Speaker 3: a lot of season left. I mean, you're fifty eight
- 10:19Speaker 3: and sixty one, so what is that one hundred and
- 10:23Speaker 3: nineteen games, so you got forty three left on the schedule,
- 10:25Speaker 3: and you're still within reason of you know, winning your
- 10:30Speaker 3: four out in the Central Like you said, Detroit has
- 10:32Speaker 3: passed them now. And Detroit looks pretty hot. Their offense
- 10:36Speaker 3: has been clicking and then they have enough pitching. But
- 10:40Speaker 3: you've got that and you're still within the wild card
- 10:43Speaker 3: picture too, So it's time to start turning things around.
- 10:47Speaker 3: It's never bad to have a three game homestand starting
- 10:51Speaker 3: or a three team home stand starting here tonight with Baltimore.
- 10:55Speaker 3: But it gets tough. It's Philly in Atlanta, two very
- 10:58Speaker 3: good National League East teams are coming in so but
- 11:02Speaker 3: the Twins just you know that Seattle series, two walk
- 11:06Speaker 3: off losses in Seattle, the walk off loss yesterday that
- 11:10Speaker 3: stuff starts to add up and you just you got
- 11:12Speaker 3: to avoid those tough moments. There were some heads hanging
- 11:16Speaker 3: in the clubhouse yesterday after the game. We've already seen it.
- 11:20Speaker 3: It's not the end of the world for the Twins.
- 11:21Speaker 3: They know how to be resilient and bounced back, but
- 11:25Speaker 3: they certainly got to do it, you know, pretty much
- 11:27Speaker 3: starting today. So it's a big series against the Orioles
- 11:32Speaker 3: in Tyler.
- 11:32Speaker 1: We we looked it up before we hit recorder. I
- 11:35Speaker 1: think it was seven of the nine games on this
- 11:37Speaker 1: road trip the Twins gave up the first inning run
- 11:39Speaker 1: and just felt like they were chasing most of the
- 11:41Speaker 1: entire all three series.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Yeah, and it's one it's hard to put a finger
- 11:47Speaker 4: on what causes it, you know, whether it's jitters or
- 11:50Speaker 4: just not being completely settled in or warmed up enough
- 11:53Speaker 4: or whatever it ends up being. But it's it is tough,
- 11:57Speaker 4: and you know, being in that position as a starter,
- 11:59Speaker 4: you know, I go out in those games and you
- 12:02Speaker 4: know you want to have that quick, clean first inning
- 12:05Speaker 4: and next thing you know, you're looking up at the board.
- 12:06Speaker 4: You're twenty five pitches in. Some guys put some good
- 12:09Speaker 4: at bats together on you even if you just give
- 12:11Speaker 4: up the one. It's just it feels it's such a
- 12:14Speaker 4: labor intensive inning, you know, out of the gate, and
- 12:18Speaker 4: it does it. It kind of you know, shocks the
- 12:20Speaker 4: system a little bit. Luckily guys have settled in after
- 12:23Speaker 4: the fact, but it is it's tough, especially on the road.
- 12:27Speaker 4: You know, you're you're not batting last anymore, and so
- 12:29Speaker 4: these that's when those walk offs happen. You know, it's
- 12:32Speaker 4: it's hard to get that momentum back when you give
- 12:35Speaker 4: it away right out of the gate like that. You know,
- 12:37Speaker 4: our guys, you know whatever. Offensively, it's quick first inning
- 12:40Speaker 4: and then boom boom boom of two spots on the
- 12:43Speaker 4: board and you know it's kind of smooth sailing after that.
- 12:45Speaker 4: And fortunately, you know, the pen has really kept them
- 12:49Speaker 4: in these games to be there. You know, that's like
- 12:53Speaker 4: we talked about the bullpen a lot this year, and
- 12:55Speaker 4: you know, we've made these moves and they're they're working.
- 12:57Speaker 4: You know, it was a great stretch for the pen
- 13:00Speaker 4: since we've added our new pieces. It's just you know,
- 13:04Speaker 4: getting that momentum early on our dugout versus in the
- 13:07Speaker 4: other dugout is real and it's a real feeling. You know,
- 13:11Speaker 4: when you jump out on a team, especially on the road,
- 13:14Speaker 4: quiet the crowd down, it's it's big for morale and
- 13:17Speaker 4: it's instant, like you can just feel it.
- 13:18Speaker 6: You know.
- 13:19Speaker 4: It's it's like Byron, you know, jumping on a guy
- 13:21Speaker 4: first pitch of the game for a home or it
- 13:22Speaker 4: just it sucks the life out of that dugout sometimes
- 13:25Speaker 4: and you know, it's who knows what it is or is.
- 13:28Speaker 4: And I know, like Roger Clements had talked about when
- 13:31Speaker 4: he'd have stretches like that, he used to throw extra
- 13:34Speaker 4: pitches in the bullpen pregame, like he knews like I've
- 13:37Speaker 4: been having a tough first so I'm gonna go rip
- 13:39Speaker 4: thirty more just to like get them out of my hand,
- 13:42Speaker 4: you know, things like that. So I'm not saying guys
- 13:44Speaker 4: need to go through more. We already have guys on
- 13:46Speaker 4: innings limits. But you know, maybe mix in a shot
- 13:49Speaker 4: us something pre game, or mix up your cocktail a
- 13:52Speaker 4: little different, you know, get the mojo going right for you.
- 13:54Speaker 4: But you know, it's the end of the day. We're
- 13:56Speaker 4: not giving up twenty runs. It's you know, it's four
- 13:58Speaker 4: to three, it's two to one, and it's three to
- 14:00Speaker 4: two like you can't ask for much else. It's just
- 14:03Speaker 4: one timely hit. You know we'll change most of these
- 14:05Speaker 4: games at this point.
- 14:08Speaker 7: I know this is a busy time of year for
- 14:10Speaker 7: many of you, including AJ. When you're home, you need

- 15:11Speaker 1: Dan, I feel like I cut you off there. You
- 15:13Speaker 1: had a response.
- 15:14Speaker 3: They're gonna say four to seventy six first in in ERA.
- 15:18Speaker 3: They gave up nine runs and nine innings on this trip,
- 15:23Speaker 3: so that is their second worst inning. The only inning
- 15:27Speaker 3: that is worse for the Twins is the on the season,
- 15:30Speaker 3: the seventh inning, which I imagine they are gonna be better at.
- 15:35Speaker 3: Eric Orsey had allowed thirteen runs in the seventh inning.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I believe his ERA is the highest in the seventh,
- 15:42Speaker 3: so but yeah, getting the slow starts is not great
- 15:46Speaker 3: when you're playing tight games because you're just playing from
- 15:48Speaker 3: behind and that certainly makes it difficult to win.
- 15:52Speaker 1: You can read more about the twins uh weekend on
- 15:56Speaker 1: The Athletic Right now. Dan has a story of this
- 15:58Speaker 1: morning about those close game woes and an update on
- 16:01Speaker 1: ZEBI Matthews foot blister, which we should probably talk about
- 16:05Speaker 1: at some point here on this show. Please tell us
- 16:08Speaker 1: us a like or subscribe if you're liking what you hear.
- 16:10Speaker 1: There's a QR code on the screen to make it
- 16:12Speaker 1: super easy. Love to have you following along. The other
- 16:17Speaker 1: very notable thing of the weekend Caitlyn Culpeper major league debut.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Good one Bonds very modern day Barry Bonds. Yes, after
- 16:27Speaker 1: two games a one point three ops, two fifty nine
- 16:31Speaker 1: ops plus, I mean it was a painful to fifty
- 16:35Speaker 1: nine homerd on Friday, had some adventures in the field,
- 16:43Speaker 1: got hit twice on Saturday, which welcome to the Bigs kid,
- 16:48Speaker 1: and then did not play yesterday. But it is not
- 16:51Speaker 1: there's not an injury concerned. It was more of a yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 1: but overall, that's about as much as you could ask
- 17:01Speaker 1: for out of the first two games of a major
- 17:04Speaker 1: league career, on base four times plus a home run,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and here he is talking about how he got the
- 17:10Speaker 1: jitters out.
- 17:12Speaker 6: Definitely felt great, you know what I mean, fell behind
- 17:15Speaker 6: the count, but I mean it didn't change anything.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I feel.
- 17:18Speaker 8: I got stribed with two strikes, so I took to
- 17:20Speaker 8: my approach, I got my hands back, I saw some
- 17:24Speaker 8: about to drive, took a really good swing on it.
- 17:26Speaker 8: So I just I had a couple more of those.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Yeah, sure, what was I know, Saint Paul could be
- 17:33Speaker 3: loud for the forty two thousand first Twins rivalry like
- 17:37Speaker 3: that atmosphere? What was that like?
- 17:39Speaker 6: And just adjusting to it forty two thousand, Yeah, I've
- 17:42Speaker 6: never played in front of many people in my life.
- 17:44Speaker 4: It was crazy. It was loud, it was kind of
- 17:46Speaker 4: tough to hear, like the.
- 17:47Speaker 6: Pitch colon in my ear at times, even talking to
- 17:51Speaker 6: like Cryler and Roy's and stuff. But it was fun.
- 17:53Speaker 3: We were having a lot of fun out there.
- 17:55Speaker 4: Even if I couldn't hear anything, I could just see
- 17:57Speaker 4: everybody's teeth, you know. Everybody was smiling and stuff.
- 17:59Speaker 6: And she's really big.
- 18:00Speaker 4: I know I was out there. So what's that feeling like?
- 18:03Speaker 3: When you get to the dot all your teammates greet
- 18:05Speaker 3: you with that reaction.
- 18:07Speaker 6: It makes me feel special, you know what I mean,
- 18:10Speaker 6: especially at the moment.
- 18:11Speaker 3: It was a special moment. Uh. Yeah, how'd you feel
- 18:17Speaker 3: out how short stop? I felt pretty good.
- 18:19Speaker 6: Definitely thing I need to work on, but for the
- 18:22Speaker 6: most part, got the first game out of the way,
- 18:24Speaker 6: you know what I mean.
- 18:25Speaker 4: A lot to improve, a lot to learn from grow from,
- 18:28Speaker 4: for sure. I'm just happy to get that person out
- 18:31Speaker 4: of the way.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Uh.
- 18:32Speaker 4: I feel like I had a solid date, so just
- 18:35Speaker 4: keep it moving forward, for sure.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I know you said you were trying to get the
- 18:38Speaker 3: first at bat out of the way, and like the
- 18:40Speaker 3: knowing and the nervous but were the jitits there for
- 18:43Speaker 3: a lot of the game.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Or were they Was it easy to get rid of them?
- 18:46Speaker 4: I'll say after my first at.
- 18:47Speaker 6: Bad you know, once you you know, if you feel them,
- 18:50Speaker 6: I guess pressure or whatever. And then after that, it's
- 18:52Speaker 6: just like, all right, now I'm here, now let's go. Yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 6: got that first thing out of the way. First wing
- 18:57Speaker 6: he missed. I'm like, okay, I'm here now, so don't
- 19:00Speaker 6: again myself. But like I said, I was just out
- 19:02Speaker 6: there having fun. Like I said, lots of girl friends
- 19:05Speaker 6: for sure. But in the day we got the way as
- 19:07Speaker 6: auto matters. Uh so yeah, just keep it moving that way.
- 19:12Speaker 1: That camera yeah, excellent, Yeah, good sound quality. Everything was
- 19:17Speaker 1: was perfect, Tyler. I want to get your impressions on
- 19:21Speaker 1: just him in general after two games, and also what
- 19:24Speaker 1: is the pitching equivalent of homering in your MLB debut?
- 19:28Speaker 1: Is just striking somebody out.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Not what I did in mind? I don't know, you know.
- 19:33Speaker 4: It's uh, it's special, man, That's one. You know, every
- 19:36Speaker 4: kid dreams of getting there and getting to do it,
- 19:38Speaker 4: and especially like you heard there, it's getting to do
- 19:42Speaker 4: it in front of forty thousand people. You know, he
- 19:45Speaker 4: got the full experience of a debut, which is incredible,
- 19:49Speaker 4: you know, and then hitting that homer like that's you know,
- 19:52Speaker 4: family's there, the whole thing, like it's it's such a
- 19:55Speaker 4: you can't really describe the feeling, like I know, for
- 19:58Speaker 4: me pitching, like you know, I warmed up up and
- 20:00Speaker 4: felt great, you know, and then you kind of lose
- 20:03Speaker 4: feeling in your legs and you're like, okay, like what's
- 20:05Speaker 4: going on? And then you get on that mound for
- 20:07Speaker 4: me and you just kind of try to do what
- 20:10Speaker 4: you've done your whole life, and sometimes it works, sometimes
- 20:13Speaker 4: it doesn't. You know, Luckily, these guys have you know,
- 20:16Speaker 4: the baseball is so sped up now. These guys have
- 20:19Speaker 4: been playing showcase ball and doing things and preparing for
- 20:22Speaker 4: these moments for a lot longer than I did. And
- 20:26Speaker 4: you know, it's just one it's great to see. It's
- 20:29Speaker 4: great to see him, you know, realize like, hey, there's
- 20:31Speaker 4: some stuff I got to work on clearly, you know,
- 20:33Speaker 4: and field the game gets fast. That's my biggest takeaway
- 20:37Speaker 4: from all of it. Uh, it's it feels like you
- 20:40Speaker 4: blank at times, and you know and at bats passed
- 20:43Speaker 4: by the ground balls happened for me pitching you know,
- 20:46Speaker 4: you give up the three or four six runs very
- 20:49Speaker 4: fast and you look around and you're like, what just happened?
- 20:52Speaker 4: And you know, and then for me, it was getting
- 20:53Speaker 4: busts back to triple A, you know. And luckily for him,
- 20:56Speaker 4: he's you know, he's going to be a superstar. He
- 20:59Speaker 4: seems to have a great head on his shoulders, the
- 21:01Speaker 4: right attitude. You know, it's it's all the right things,
- 21:04Speaker 4: and it's a it's all you can ask for, you know,
- 21:07Speaker 4: And luckily for him, he didn't. He may say you
- 21:09Speaker 4: wanted to face Misrawski, but you know he got to
- 21:11Speaker 4: sit back and watch the guys try to handle him
- 21:14Speaker 4: his first weekend in the big league. So you know
- 21:17Speaker 4: it'll be fun, especially you know, getting into Target Field
- 21:20Speaker 4: now you know this is your home stadium. You know,
- 21:22Speaker 4: going to his locker for the first time, I mean,
- 21:24Speaker 4: that's what you know. That'll that's the coolest part. You
- 21:27Speaker 4: walk in the first day and it's like it's like kindergarten,
- 21:29Speaker 4: you know, you walk in and it's all the new
- 21:31Speaker 4: things and people, and you know he's been around spring training,
- 21:35Speaker 4: but you know it's it'll be another today will basically
- 21:38Speaker 4: feel like another debut for him, which would be a
- 21:40Speaker 4: lot of fun.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Stat of the day provided by Dan Hayes and
- 21:45Speaker 1: his latest ad.
- 22:02Speaker 3: And I'll give that TV credit. TV I think is
- 22:04Speaker 3: the one that came up with that.
- 22:05Speaker 1: No, not me.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I just heard it and parroted it because who cares
- 22:11Speaker 3: like he got hit by two pitches? Like, you know,
- 22:13Speaker 3: it's weird talking about yesterday, and it's like it reminds
- 22:17Speaker 3: me of what about Bob. There's a part where the
- 22:22Speaker 3: Bill Murray classic goes sailing. Do you remember, remember he
- 22:26Speaker 3: goes sailing and they last. Yeah, he's like, he's like,
- 22:32Speaker 3: you know, it's really nothing. I just let the boat
- 22:35Speaker 3: do all the work. Camin Culpepper. He really is nothing.
- 22:38Speaker 3: He just let the ball do all the work. He
- 22:40Speaker 3: got hit by and uh, you know, there's not much
- 22:43Speaker 3: you can do about that. Just I don't know, do
- 22:46Speaker 3: some like matrix type the ball.
- 22:49Speaker 1: So overall though, Dan, I imagine, uh, well, at least on
- 22:53Speaker 1: Friday night before the two hit by pitches, a good
- 22:56Speaker 1: vibe in the clubhouse after the wind and what they
- 22:58Speaker 1: saw from.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Him, absolutely, I mean, this is a guy that they
- 23:02Speaker 3: really like. Like he's upbeat guy, he's friendly, he's you know,
- 23:08Speaker 3: he is he personifies good vibes and there's so much
- 23:11Speaker 3: energy that comes from him. Adding a twenty three year
- 23:13Speaker 3: old to the roster, just who's coming up and wants
- 23:17Speaker 3: to make this team better. That's gonna That's exactly the
- 23:22Speaker 3: kind of player this this group will really thrive. You know,
- 23:26Speaker 3: can can help him enhance his game, but that they
- 23:31Speaker 3: can help thrive. And I think that when they see him,
- 23:35Speaker 3: they were excited. In fact, the teams often do the
- 23:39Speaker 3: silent treatment when a guy hits a home run. And
- 23:42Speaker 3: I asked Josh Bell about it, and he's like, we
- 23:45Speaker 3: realized is a big moment in a big game, because
- 23:47Speaker 3: they were down four to two when he hit the
- 23:48Speaker 3: home run, and they he said, we were all so loud,
- 23:52Speaker 3: and we decided that we couldn't stop, and we weren't.
- 23:55Speaker 3: We weren't going to do the silent treatment. And so
- 23:59Speaker 3: he got lucky. That's how Bell said it. He got lucky.
- 24:01Speaker 4: They'll get him another time.
- 24:04Speaker 3: They got him in post game. They got him in
- 24:06Speaker 3: post with the shower.
- 24:10Speaker 4: The shower, Yes, I did see. He was talking about it.
- 24:14Speaker 4: He's like, whatever they could find was on me.
- 24:15Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, I mean he was in he
- 24:17Speaker 3: was covered in baby powder when we walked into the
- 24:20Speaker 3: clubhouse like and and he like. We saw him about
- 24:24Speaker 3: ten minutes later and he was still just there was
- 24:26Speaker 3: still crap in his hair. I mean stuff that they
- 24:29Speaker 3: put in that mustard. They use baby powder, they use mouthwashed,
- 24:34Speaker 3: they use shaving cream, everything, every substance they can find
- 24:38Speaker 3: they put in that that shower. It's it's pretty disgusting.
- 24:41Speaker 3: So his luck ran out uh later after the game,
- 24:44Speaker 3: but he was he was excited about it. Anyways. I
- 24:48Speaker 3: thought it was a good overall first weekend. We did
- 24:51Speaker 3: see the defensive jitters a little bit on Friday night.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I do think that was a little bit just getting
- 24:57Speaker 3: used to the speed of the game, playing in front
- 24:58Speaker 3: of forty two thousand p people and we'll see a
- 25:02Speaker 3: better representation of what he is capable of defensively as
- 25:07Speaker 3: he you know, keeps going. But there were certainly those
- 25:11Speaker 3: two plays that he couldn't get to the ball that
- 25:14Speaker 3: was to his far right and dropped it. And then
- 25:17Speaker 3: he came in on another one and took some long
- 25:20Speaker 3: steps before he got rid of the ball. So he
- 25:23Speaker 3: didn't he has a strong arm. We saw that he
- 25:26Speaker 3: was accurate with the arm, but he he definitely needs
- 25:30Speaker 3: to get the timing down, but I don't see that
- 25:32Speaker 3: as being a concern. This is a guy the Twins
- 25:34Speaker 3: really thought made some serious strides defensively this season, and
- 25:38Speaker 3: I would imagine if he's capable of that, you know,
- 25:42Speaker 3: growth is in there.
- 25:44Speaker 1: And it's obviously been a position where the Twins have
- 25:46Speaker 1: not had an answer all season. And after the deadline
- 25:51Speaker 1: passed and all of a sudden, we're looking at oh Man,
- 25:54Speaker 1: this team doesn't have enough hitting.
- 25:56Speaker 6: Now.
- 25:57Speaker 1: That was one of the levers, or the only remaining
- 25:59Speaker 1: lever they could pull, is to go to the farm
- 26:00Speaker 1: system and get the bats. So if we can keep
- 26:03Speaker 1: up that one point three o ps maybe in a
- 26:06Speaker 1: slightly less, slightly less painful way for him, that would
- 26:09Speaker 1: be certainly welcome for this team. We'll talk about probably
- 26:13Speaker 1: Zebbie Matthews, talk about what's coming up on the schedule
- 26:16Speaker 1: and more. Right after this.
- 26:21Speaker 7: Science experiment for the one minute, we had to tell
- 26:23Speaker 7: you about why we love quints electrolytes, including watermelon salt,
- 26:27Speaker 7: raspberry salt. And I'm holding a citrus salt, just opened
- 26:30Speaker 7: it and to pour some powder into my water, shake
- 26:32Speaker 7: it up, and AJ, why do you love it?
- 26:34Speaker 2: I love Quints because after a long night out, a
- 26:36Speaker 2: long day at the gym, a long walk in this
- 26:38Speaker 2: Florida humidity, it tastes great and it gives me all
- 26:41Speaker 2: the electrolytes I need. Why sugar free Stevy, a free
- 26:45Speaker 2: keto approve and taste sweet because of that delicious fermented rice.
- 26:52Speaker 7: It does taste really good. I'm drinking it right now
- 26:55Speaker 7: while we talking about it. It's also made in the USA,
- 26:57Speaker 7: rigorously third party tested. Give your body what it really
- 27:00Speaker 7: needs to stay hydrated. Go to quints dot com slash

- 27:22Speaker 1: So a frustrating road trip is over. The Twins back
- 27:25Speaker 1: at target Field for three series with a stopover in
- 27:29Speaker 1: a cornfield in the middle of it for one game
- 27:33Speaker 1: Baltimore first than filling in Atlanta. We'll talk about that
- 27:35Speaker 1: in a second, but a few other items from the weekend.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Zebbie Matthews Dan is going through it a little bit
- 27:41Speaker 1: with the foot.
- 27:42Speaker 3: It sounds like, yeah, I wrote it like this. If
- 27:45Speaker 3: you're squeamish, stop reading now. If you're squeamish, stop listening now.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Fast forward just a little bit. Zebbie Matthews has a
- 27:53Speaker 3: laceration on his right foot. It was, I guess, a
- 27:56Speaker 3: blister caused by the mound in Yankee Stadium on July fourth,
- 28:02Speaker 3: and it ripped open again the other night. It has
- 28:07Speaker 3: constantly been ripping open and they're doing what they can
- 28:11Speaker 3: to manage it. But I'm gonna guess until Zebbie Matthews
- 28:14Speaker 3: gets like ten days off, which the Twins hope is
- 28:17Speaker 3: not for another two and a half to three months,
- 28:20Speaker 3: but the end of the season obviously is end of September.
- 28:24Speaker 3: But he currently they're managing it. They're doing what they can.
- 28:29Speaker 3: I think they said they use a laser in there
- 28:32Speaker 3: to try and clean it up. They're doing all they
- 28:36Speaker 3: can to close it up, but it gradually just rips
- 28:40Speaker 3: open basically every time. They're using a pitching toe, which
- 28:43Speaker 3: is designed so that when he drags his foot through
- 28:48Speaker 3: the mound, it doesn't wear at that point of his shoe,
- 28:52Speaker 3: so they're doing what they can, but it's something that
- 28:54Speaker 3: just constantly is an issue and I imagine will be
- 28:57Speaker 3: an issue until he can stop drowing for a little while.
- 29:00Speaker 3: But you know, it didn't surprise me because as much
- 29:03Speaker 3: as they have a dome there, it's always still hot
- 29:05Speaker 3: and sweaty in that building in August in Milwaukee, so
- 29:10Speaker 3: it was it was a humid, moist weekend in Milwaukee,
- 29:14Speaker 3: and uh, you know, Zeby was going. He wanted to
- 29:18Speaker 3: keep going. I think it ripped at the end of
- 29:19Speaker 3: the second inning and he kept going three more innings
- 29:23Speaker 3: with it because he didn't want to kill the bullpen.
- 29:25Speaker 3: But it's certainly something that they will be working on
- 29:29Speaker 3: and monitoring as much as they can over the course
- 29:31Speaker 3: of his starts the rest of the way.
- 29:34Speaker 1: ZEBBI obviously back up because Joe Ryan is back on
- 29:38Speaker 1: the aisle. We talked about Joe Ryan a lot on
- 29:41Speaker 1: Friday show, I believe or Thursday show last week. He
- 29:44Speaker 1: then went to the aisle shortly after we published that show,
- 29:47Speaker 1: But no update there. I'm assuming Dan just still at
- 29:50Speaker 1: least a week out before we'll see Joe again.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Right, I mean again they I think they feel glad
- 29:56Speaker 3: that it was a mild gluten string and then it's something.
- 29:59Speaker 3: But it's fifteen day I l so I don't know
- 30:04Speaker 3: that we'll hear anything. I'm guessing he'll get shut down
- 30:06Speaker 3: for a week, six seven days something like that and
- 30:10Speaker 3: then and then they'll figure it out. But he is
- 30:14Speaker 3: definitely out, and so that means Zebie Matthews is in
- 30:16Speaker 3: and Caitlin or Chemicle Pepper Connor Prelip is still going.
- 30:20Speaker 3: So you know they're gonna have to figure things out.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Kendry Rojas I know through forty five, I believe on Friday,
- 30:26Speaker 3: and they were gonna maybe up the number as they go,
- 30:30Speaker 3: but that was play by ear so we could see
- 30:32Speaker 3: Kendry Rojas in the future. But it's certainly something with
- 30:35Speaker 3: Matthews that will impact him. So it's it's a it's
- 30:40Speaker 3: an interesting wrinkle on the plant.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Foot laseration doesn't sound very fun, Tyler, No I had.
- 30:48Speaker 4: I had one time. I had a little thing. It
- 30:50Speaker 4: was actually during the spring training, thank god. But it's
- 30:53Speaker 4: the same like we were talking about the other day.
- 30:55Speaker 4: You know, stuff goes up the chain and affects everything,
- 30:58Speaker 4: but something on your foot, it's wrong as a pitcher,
- 31:03Speaker 4: it definitely makes it tough, like you know, and you
- 31:06Speaker 4: know he's battling through that, trying to do and you
- 31:09Speaker 4: know you try to give him some leeway, but that
- 31:11Speaker 4: is one at what points have become detrimental, you know
- 31:15Speaker 4: versus I don't I don't even want to say d
- 31:18Speaker 4: l but like just skip a start, you know kind
- 31:20Speaker 4: of thing, or give it some time to see the
- 31:22Speaker 4: world deal because like Dan said, it's just it's kind
- 31:25Speaker 4: of not going to go away until you can take
- 31:27Speaker 4: a bit of a breather, right. You know, those lasers
- 31:30Speaker 4: you know they do they like stimulate the body that
- 31:33Speaker 4: kind of like fix itself a little quicker than it
- 31:35Speaker 4: would normally. But there isn't like a cure for like
- 31:39Speaker 4: a hole in your foot. You know, it's just a
- 31:42Speaker 4: it's a bad spot to be right now. You know
- 31:45Speaker 4: what made eight more starts?
- 31:48Speaker 3: Wait, you're you're saying that they got freaking laser beams.
- 31:51Speaker 4: They got oh, we got lots of laser beams back
- 31:53Speaker 4: there there's machines you don't even know about. No there
- 31:57Speaker 4: there it's and it's some of it does work, but
- 32:00Speaker 4: like again, it's a lot of pressure being put into
- 32:03Speaker 4: the ground. It's crazy that it happened in Yankee Stadium
- 32:06Speaker 4: because that's like the best mound to ever pitch on.
- 32:09Speaker 3: So maybe that weekend was ridiculously hot.
- 32:12Speaker 4: From what I heard, that was hard.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, why is this the best mound?
- 32:19Speaker 4: It's the first time I went on there. It's like
- 32:22Speaker 4: the the top dressing, so like the color you see
- 32:26Speaker 4: on TV. That's like a top dressing on top of
- 32:28Speaker 4: the clay. So like Twins have, they kind of use
- 32:30Speaker 4: some multicolored stuff. It looks really nice and beautiful that
- 32:33Speaker 4: the Yankees. It's like this little bit finer texture and
- 32:37Speaker 4: the clay underneath is like just tacky, I guess would
- 32:40Speaker 4: be the best way to say it. So like when
- 32:42Speaker 4: your foot cuts through that clay, like it does not
- 32:45Speaker 4: move like it was. Remember the first time I threw
- 32:47Speaker 4: on it, I was like, this is amazing, And like
- 32:49Speaker 4: you know, you hear stories. I guess when big leaders
- 32:51Speaker 4: would rehab for them, like they would make sure the
- 32:54Speaker 4: mound was exactly the same, like in Scranton or wherever,
- 32:57Speaker 4: they were like it's it was a even the bullpen mound.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Like you get on there, you're like, man, I feel
- 33:02Speaker 4: powerful because you're just you're just locked into.
- 33:04Speaker 1: That clay, right. Interesting. Yeah, and they can't duplicate elsewhere
- 33:10Speaker 1: or is it just.
- 33:11Speaker 4: I think it's just preference, Like it's just there. I
- 33:14Speaker 4: remember it vividly, like feeling very different under my feet
- 33:19Speaker 4: than any other mount I had been on, you know.
- 33:21Speaker 4: And then the White Socks guy he started turface. So
- 33:24Speaker 4: they use that stuff like it's going out of style.
- 33:27Speaker 4: The White Sox.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Stadium proprietary groundskeeper secrets you don't, you can't.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Yeah, it's the magic mix keeps the field ready to go.
- 33:39Speaker 1: We have teased it, but the Twins are back at
- 33:41Speaker 1: Target Field this week. Baltimore is up first, then Philadelphia,
- 33:45Speaker 1: the Atlanta The Field of Dreams game is Thursday. We
- 33:48Speaker 1: can tee that up a bit more on Wednesday's show.
- 33:51Speaker 1: But uh, this is the easy one of the bunch
- 33:56Speaker 1: on the Twins upcoming schedule, and it's not necessarily easy.
- 33:58Speaker 1: The Orioles are right there with Twins in this ugly
- 34:02Speaker 1: race quote unquote for the third and final wildcard spot
- 34:06Speaker 1: in the Ale. They are fifty seven and sixty one,
- 34:07Speaker 1: just a half game back of the Twins, no way
- 34:12Speaker 1: around it. At this point where at the part of
- 34:13Speaker 1: the season where the wins have got to start coming
- 34:15Speaker 1: to The Twins obviously went one in two against each
- 34:18Speaker 1: of the three teams on this road trip. They needed
- 34:22Speaker 1: to flip that around. Starting pretty quick here.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Dan, I'd say, yeah, you want to get back as
- 34:29Speaker 3: quick as possible. You get you've dropped four behind the
- 34:32Speaker 3: White Sox. You want to have them within two or
- 34:34Speaker 3: three when you play them. So this stretch, you play Baltimore,
- 34:39Speaker 3: then you play Philly, then you play Atlanta, then you
- 34:42Speaker 3: go to San Diego. That'll be tough. They get or
- 34:46Speaker 3: they played the A's in Sacramento, and then it's twelve
- 34:50Speaker 3: against Detroit and Chicago. So you need to play well
- 34:54Speaker 3: enough in these next fifteen to give yourself a shot
- 34:57Speaker 3: when you're played like playing all Division games. I think
- 35:01Speaker 3: this team is well positioned. As far as the pitching
- 35:03Speaker 3: goes right now, this is probably some of the best
- 35:05Speaker 3: we've seen, although I imagine the bullpen's a little tired
- 35:08Speaker 3: because a lot of guys got a lot of work.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Hoff And pitched three straight. Didn't pitch yesterday. Gomez and
- 35:15Speaker 3: Morris I believe were three or four. Everybody's been getting
- 35:19Speaker 3: used fun. He's been looking really good.
- 35:20Speaker 5: Lately.
- 35:21Speaker 3: That bullpen looks good. They need the offense to step
- 35:25Speaker 3: up and give them some run support tonight and Dean
- 35:27Speaker 3: Kramer's gonna make his home debut he looked good the
- 35:29Speaker 3: other night and his twins debut in Kansas City. This
- 35:33Speaker 3: one will be challenging. Not only is his home debut,
- 35:35Speaker 3: but he gets the bases old team immediately go sure,
- 35:39Speaker 3: that will be a little bit emotional, right, So this
- 35:42Speaker 3: is a big one. Just they need to start getting
- 35:46Speaker 3: back on track and winning series. And I think they
- 35:48Speaker 3: can do it. We've seen it. They just they just
- 35:51Speaker 3: got to find that way to get back over the hump.
- 35:55Speaker 1: They need to push Tyler like that every time they
- 35:58Speaker 1: win a couple of games and it feels like maybe, know,
- 36:00Speaker 1: here comes the momentum. It hasn't happened yet, and they
- 36:03Speaker 1: need they need something to get themselves out of this,
- 36:07Speaker 1: out of this tier below the playoff teams and get
- 36:09Speaker 1: in and it's not going to be easy, but they're
- 36:13Speaker 1: at home and be good. It'd be a good time
- 36:15Speaker 1: for it for sure.
- 36:17Speaker 4: Yeah, the all those folks that went to Banana Ball
- 36:19Speaker 4: just keep coming for this next homes just continue that trend.
- 36:24Speaker 4: You know, it's one of it's this is you know,
- 36:27Speaker 4: I hate to say it. You know, it's on players
- 36:29Speaker 4: to go play and all that stuff too, but that
- 36:31Speaker 4: home field advantage can become a thing. It's something that's real.
- 36:35Speaker 4: You know, I say that jokingly, but you know, fans
- 36:38Speaker 4: are in the crowd, make it tough on the other team.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Things like that matter. You know, it's something that's it's
- 36:43Speaker 4: a small portion, but all those little things put together
- 36:46Speaker 4: that you know, feeling of you know, when I was there,
- 36:49Speaker 4: like being a twin and like that stadium getting loud
- 36:52Speaker 4: for us, things like that, it's huge. Especially when there
- 36:55Speaker 4: it's like you said, it's just a little push, like
- 36:57Speaker 4: we're competitive, we're we're one. We're losing by one run
- 37:00Speaker 4: over and over again. Like it's you know, it sucks,
- 37:03Speaker 4: it's not what you want at all. But at the
- 37:06Speaker 4: same time, that one push to get that ball rolling
- 37:09Speaker 4: back down the hill, you know, it picks up such
- 37:12Speaker 4: momentum and you just kind of start to feel a
- 37:15Speaker 4: little invincible. And you know, like at times it was
- 37:18Speaker 4: like when we were the Bombas squad, you know it
- 37:20Speaker 4: was like, all right, well we're down four, but as
- 37:22Speaker 4: long as you don't give him any more runs, We're
- 37:24Speaker 4: gonna score like seven more, you know. Now, not say
- 37:27Speaker 4: that's gonna happen, but the guys have the lineup has
- 37:30Speaker 4: scored runs consistently late in these games all year. It
- 37:33Speaker 4: feels like and and they're not giving up at bats.
- 37:36Speaker 4: They're not quitting on these games. And it's one they
- 37:39Speaker 4: they do. Dean needs to have a good one tonight.
- 37:43Speaker 4: It's gonna be tough. He's gonna be pitching, you know,
- 37:45Speaker 4: an inspired game, if you want to call it that.
- 37:47Speaker 4: You know, it's it's his old team, first game at home.
- 37:50Speaker 4: You know, Culpepper's gonna get probably I would imagine he's
- 37:53Speaker 4: in the lineup tonight, you know, his home debut. Like
- 37:56Speaker 4: there's gonna be some energy in that stadium for a
- 37:58Speaker 4: lot of good reasons and things, and it's it's something
- 38:02Speaker 4: to build on. It's you know, you gotta you gotta
- 38:05Speaker 4: get these games, especially you know Baltimore. Of the few
- 38:08Speaker 4: coming up, they're your best chance to get some wins.
- 38:11Speaker 4: I guess you know the Phillies are they made some moves.
- 38:14Speaker 4: You know, they plugged Luisa Rise in between a bunch
- 38:16Speaker 4: of sluggers. So like it's gonna be a tough series, Uh,
- 38:20Speaker 4: it's just when they need this win tonight would be huge,
- 38:24Speaker 4: you know, like Dan said that, coming in that clubhouse yesterday,
- 38:27Speaker 4: getting walked off on a Sunday against Mazarowski and all that,
- 38:30Speaker 4: it's just, you know, they need something.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Uh.
- 38:33Speaker 4: But at the same time, it's go out and play
- 38:35Speaker 4: your our brand of baseball and just keep fighting. You know,
- 38:38Speaker 4: that's all you can really do is show up and
- 38:39Speaker 4: do your job individually. Nobody needs to do anything miraculous
- 38:43Speaker 4: all of a sudden. It's just it's one bounce here
- 38:46Speaker 4: there and the momentum shift and you'll see it on TV.
- 38:48Speaker 4: You guys will be excited and you know all that
- 38:50Speaker 4: good stuff. You know, it feels like one of those
- 38:52Speaker 4: where Roy hits the Homer, you know, pick the guy.
- 38:55Speaker 4: It just kind of turns the sales a little bit,
- 38:57Speaker 4: and you know, it's it's one. It's but that's part
- 39:01Speaker 4: of the game. You got to play one sixty two.
- 39:03Speaker 4: You know, who knows what next week will look like
- 39:05Speaker 4: in the week after that, but you know, all you
- 39:07Speaker 4: can do is put your head down and wait till
- 39:09Speaker 4: the last game of season.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Between now, I guess really between Friday and September seventeenth,
- 39:18Speaker 1: the Twins have all of one series against a team
- 39:20Speaker 1: that isn't at least fighting for the playoffs, if not
- 39:23Speaker 1: firmly in the playoffs, and that's at Oakland. Every other
- 39:26Speaker 1: team in that stretch is in the mix, so it's
- 39:30Speaker 1: a relentless stretch. Sometimes it seems they tend to play
- 39:33Speaker 1: better when when the competition is tougher, so maybe that's
- 39:36Speaker 1: good for them. We'll see. But Dean Kramer against Trevor Rodgers,
- 39:40Speaker 1: a lefty for Baltimore Tonight six forty start, Bailey over
- 39:44Speaker 1: and Brandon Young tough one there, six forty Tuesday night,
- 39:47Speaker 1: and then Wednesday in the finale. Zebi Matthews Maybe no,
- 39:53Speaker 1: not with that blister, right, you know I think.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Bradley is Yeah, I know, I would think he is
- 39:59Speaker 3: tas Bradley on Thursday at the Field of Dreams. So
- 40:02Speaker 3: Zebbie sits in there.
- 40:03Speaker 1: There For now, it's Zebbie Matthews against Shane bozz twelve
- 40:06Speaker 1: forty start Target Field. We'll be back with you on
