- 1:57Speaker 2: Air Repair. Rusty person is with us. Don Nelson died yesterday.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Yeah. You know what I really like Don Nelson.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I have funny story about Don Nelson is that we
- 2:15Speaker 1: went my wife and I were at Bob Steak and
- 2:18Speaker 1: Chop House in Dallas. Yeah, and so it's probably one
- 2:21Speaker 1: of my favorite restaurants in the world.
- 2:24Speaker 3: And so we're in there for.
- 2:25Speaker 1: A special occasion and May had a couple of adult
- 2:29Speaker 1: beverages and I look over and there's Don Nelson, right,
- 2:34Speaker 1: And you know, I just did such the rookie like
- 2:39Speaker 1: the thing I tell people to never do, Like, you know,
- 2:42Speaker 1: it's like leave the people alone. Yeah, just say hey,
- 2:46Speaker 1: listen or you know, appreciate you as a coach, don Nelson. No, No,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I wanted to talk to him about Derek Harper, and.
- 2:53Speaker 3: I wanted to talk about Dirk Dovinski. My wife was like,
- 2:57Speaker 3: leave him alone, but he was. He was very nice.
- 3:02Speaker 3: He turned his back towards me after a while, so
- 3:05Speaker 3: he didn't have to listen to me anyway. But it
- 3:07Speaker 3: was just one of those guys. The next day, I
- 3:09Speaker 3: was like, what an idiot I was.
- 3:11Speaker 1: You know, it's just trying to make a fool of
- 3:13Speaker 1: myself just being that fan guy.
- 3:16Speaker 3: But you know what he was.
- 3:17Speaker 1: He was great and so you know, he didn't never
- 3:19Speaker 1: want championship, but he brought Dirk.
- 3:22Speaker 3: Dirk gave him so much.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Credit for the player that he came out and Dirk
- 3:29Speaker 1: could set up Paul Pierce.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Everybody just thought that was a horrible decision.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Well he you know, he he traded Robert Tractor trailer
- 3:37Speaker 1: for Dirk trade.
- 3:38Speaker 3: It was a really good There's.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Not a statue outside Milwaukee's arena for Robert Tractor. There
- 3:46Speaker 1: is a statue outside of Dallas. There is, even though
- 3:48Speaker 1: they don't play at that arena anymore.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Now, the what.
- 3:51Speaker 1: The w NBA team is the only team that plays
- 3:54Speaker 1: at American Airlines Center.
- 3:55Speaker 3: But that's that's a whole other point. Uh, They they
- 3:59Speaker 3: will play there for a.
- 4:01Speaker 2: While, Yeah, because it's gonna take a while. Yeah, it's
- 4:05Speaker 2: to me, that's so ridiculous.
- 4:06Speaker 3: It is.
- 4:07Speaker 2: It's just stupid that they can't get along. And and
- 4:11Speaker 2: I don't think there's anything wrong with that arena.
- 4:14Speaker 1: There's nothing wrong with that Arena. I mean, and they
- 4:16Speaker 1: got everything around it right now, that victory plog.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a great fan experience. Yeah, it's it's right.
- 4:22Speaker 2: They're going to happen the statues, Yeah, Madonna's statues, Madonna
- 4:28Speaker 2: and Dirk.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that's just it's just silly. That's just really really,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I had such great memories of being an American Airline
- 4:35Speaker 1: Center when the MAVs won won their title, their only title,
- 4:40Speaker 1: two left. I wasn't there obviously they won their title
- 4:43Speaker 1: in Miami, but my wife and I were in Game five,
- 4:46Speaker 1: which was really the definitive moment.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Yeah, because then they won it in Game six.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yes, And we had been there in two thousand and five,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and I remember the MAVs were up to to Oh
- 4:57Speaker 1: we were we were driving home and we were listening
- 4:59Speaker 1: to Dallas Fort Worth Radio and they go, you know,
- 5:02Speaker 1: this is.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Gonna be a sweep.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And my wife said, now, since I rided myself out,
- 5:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna write her out. My wife said, you know,
- 5:10Speaker 1: after all these years, because we used to go the
- 5:12Speaker 1: Bad Bad Mavericks, we would have like five dollars tickets
- 5:16Speaker 1: that we would get the very top of the Union
- 5:19Speaker 1: Arena and we would go over and eat chips and
- 5:21Speaker 1: kso in Dallas, ally, so we would ride the bus
- 5:25Speaker 1: because it was cheaper to park there.
- 5:27Speaker 3: So literally we had zero money.
- 5:28Speaker 1: But we would go to MAVs games and they would
- 5:30Speaker 1: always play close games and figure out a way to lose.
- 5:33Speaker 1: So after all that history, my wife looks over to
- 5:36Speaker 1: me as we're listening to radio, she goes, man, what
- 5:39Speaker 1: a shame after all these years.
- 5:41Speaker 3: How anti climactic it's gonna be.
- 5:45Speaker 1: And the Heat won the next four games. Pat Riley
- 5:49Speaker 1: pat Riley, Yeah, yeah, he kind of went off.
- 5:52Speaker 3: So that was Shack and that was Dwayne Wade and.
- 5:56Speaker 2: He he out coached the Mavericks. Oh yeah, yeah, badly. Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 2: this was the little general that sure was.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Yeah, and I loved him. I didn't know, but but
- 6:07Speaker 1: he got out coached. He definitely got that coach.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think there was a pivotal game six there.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Maybe it was game three that was the pivotal one
- 6:20Speaker 1: because the mass were up.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Quite a bit, right, but yeah, they had but they
- 6:24Speaker 2: had another one in which they were they they could
- 6:28Speaker 2: have quote should have won, yeah, because they.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Came back, yes, down, I mean there came back to too.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And so that game five in Dallas and then they
- 6:37Speaker 1: blew that one. But anyway, besides the point, Don Nelson
- 6:41Speaker 1: was a great coach. He was, Uh, he was a
- 6:44Speaker 1: truly an innovator. Second most wins in NBA history, Yes,
- 6:48Speaker 1: second most wins of Maverick's history. And so yeah, it's
- 6:52Speaker 1: a eighty six. The thing is he had just moved
- 6:56Speaker 1: back to the Dallas for warth area.
- 6:58Speaker 3: He did stroke. Ok, yeah, about three weeks ago.
- 7:01Speaker 1: They said, yeah, but I mean he'd been out like
- 7:03Speaker 1: living the good life out in Maui.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Well he Uh.
- 7:07Speaker 2: What was interesting is he was poker buddies with Willie
- 7:12Speaker 2: Nelson and Matthew Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harreld said, I
- 7:18Speaker 2: would love to have been just a fly on the
- 7:21Speaker 2: wall of those poker games because he and Willie were
- 7:23Speaker 2: neighbors out in Maui and Chris Christopherson, all these guys
- 7:28Speaker 2: that lived out in Hawaii, and he was a he
- 7:31Speaker 2: was a regular at those poker games, and I would
- 7:36Speaker 2: have loved to have been just sitting in listening to
- 7:40Speaker 2: those stories.
- 7:40Speaker 1: You know, he was not a big proponent of playing defense.
- 7:44Speaker 1: No he was not, No, he was not.
- 7:46Speaker 3: He scored a lot of points.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And I remember those Mavericks teams when they were getting
- 7:51Speaker 1: good with Dirk and Steve Nash, and how Charles Barkley
- 7:55Speaker 1: would always rip them to shreds because they didn't play defense.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But arc like probably wasn't the one to be talking about.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That because he was not the best defender, the great defender,
- 8:07Speaker 1: but he could talk a good game. And then that
- 8:09Speaker 1: twenty eleven team that they played a lot of great defense,
- 8:12Speaker 1: so it was a totally different team, you know, a
- 8:15Speaker 1: totally different approach to it, and Dirk was, you know,
- 8:18Speaker 1: so much more seasoned and he.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Could just that was his moment. He knew it.
- 8:21Speaker 1: The biggest mistake that Miami made in twenty eleven is
- 8:25Speaker 1: if you remember, in Game one, Dirk had the flu,
- 8:30Speaker 1: and so you remember, you know, Lebron and Dwayne Wade
- 8:35Speaker 1: and who was the other I can't even remember the other,
- 8:38Speaker 1: the third one, right, yeah, And so they Lebron was
- 8:43Speaker 1: like fake coughing in the hallways of the arena making
- 8:49Speaker 1: fun of Dirk.
- 8:51Speaker 3: You shouldn't kick it.
- 8:52Speaker 1: You shouldn't kick a Dirk when he's down, right, And
- 8:55Speaker 1: so he came back and made it a point and
- 8:57Speaker 1: was like, okay, all right, let's get Oh I like that. Yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 1: and that was the first that was the you know,
- 9:03Speaker 1: the first year that the Heat dynasty was together and
- 9:06Speaker 1: they didn't win a title. Yes, and so that was
- 9:09Speaker 1: especially yes, yes, yes, yeah.
- 9:13Speaker 3: They also had the freak they had to look.
- 9:15Speaker 1: It up during the break, but they had another guy
- 9:17Speaker 1: on that team.
- 9:19Speaker 2: All right, I did this last week, but I want
- 9:23Speaker 2: to get your opinions on this. This is from Ryan
- 9:28Speaker 2: McGee from from ESPN. Okay, okay, these are the top
- 9:33Speaker 2: ten villains of college football.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Oh yeah we actually okay, go ahead, can we talk
- 9:39Speaker 3: about it?
- 9:40Speaker 2: We did not I saw yeah, okay, top ten villains
- 9:44Speaker 2: of college foot.
- 9:45Speaker 3: Johnny Manziel does not belong there.
- 9:46Speaker 2: But anyway, okay, uh, Caleb Williams and and I never
- 9:53Speaker 2: quite understood, but it was Chris Bosh.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Was the name of John Chris Bosh?
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, uh he was from Fort Worth, right, played
- 10:02Speaker 2: at Dallas at Dallas High School maybe so yeah, I'm
- 10:06Speaker 2: almost certain of that. Yeah, he played somewhere in Dallas
- 10:11Speaker 2: in high school.
- 10:12Speaker 3: That's got a text from say Chris Bosh to you. Yeah.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty good team. Yeah it was, and uh
- 10:18Speaker 2: a pretty good coach.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Yeah he was mister basketball in the state of Texas. Yeah,
- 10:22Speaker 3: I thought so. Yeah he's from Dallas. Yeah, anyway, go
- 10:26Speaker 3: back to the village. Okay, the villains.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Caleb Williams and I don't I don't know why he's
- 10:33Speaker 2: tenth on the list because.
- 10:34Speaker 3: He painted his fingernails or yeah, I don't know. I
- 10:37Speaker 3: mean he transferred, you know, to USC.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And I don't have a problem with Caleb Williams. I
- 10:43Speaker 1: mean I don't at all.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Uh. Dion Sanders, by the way, he didn't make that
- 10:49Speaker 2: top one hundred list either from AI and I think
- 10:52Speaker 2: Deon Sanders should be a.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Top I got on Sanders was fun, man, I mean prime.
- 10:58Speaker 2: I interviewed him at spring training, went out, went down
- 11:03Speaker 2: and covered the Rangers and the Astros and used to
- 11:06Speaker 2: used to go to spring training and he was there,
- 11:09Speaker 2: I guess with Atlanta. Yeah, uh in spring spring training.
- 11:15Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't see him as a villain.
- 11:17Speaker 3: I thoroughly enjoyed.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Watching he had a persona. Yeah, sure that rubbed some
- 11:24Speaker 2: people the wrong, especially I would say in college.
- 11:26Speaker 3: More than maybe more than pros.
- 11:29Speaker 2: But but there's there's always I'm with you, by the.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Way, I guess you love him or loathe the right.
- 11:35Speaker 3: I happened to love Dion. I liked your style. I
- 11:39Speaker 3: liked the you know, show voting. I liked it. I
- 11:41Speaker 3: backed it up, he backed it up.
- 11:43Speaker 1: And tell you what, I loved it when the Cowboys
- 11:45Speaker 1: got him because he was he was really fresh. Yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and he was still really really good, and he had
- 11:49Speaker 1: been so good with the forty nine ers.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Would would didn't they didn't pay him to tackle people.
- 11:56Speaker 3: He wouldn't tackle people.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But but but he shut down a whole side of
- 11:59Speaker 2: the field exact.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I mean, he knew his limitations and they returned. He
- 12:03Speaker 1: wasn't gonna mess up for a face. Yeah, yeah, you
- 12:05Speaker 1: know right, I loved him.
- 12:08Speaker 3: It was like the Holly of football, right.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, and to a degree, I mean he was
- 12:14Speaker 1: a little bit like that when he first took over
- 12:16Speaker 1: and coaching. He was like, you know, I mean, he
- 12:18Speaker 1: hasn't had the success obviously, and he unfortunately he's been
- 12:22Speaker 1: had health issue health issues, but he's at.
- 12:25Speaker 2: A school that's not gonna win consistently, right.
- 12:28Speaker 1: But I mean the way he took coaching by storm,
- 12:31Speaker 1: it was just so typical Dion, and Dion does everything
- 12:35Speaker 1: with style.
- 12:36Speaker 2: They did you see, they just sold his twenty four
- 12:38Speaker 2: thousand square foot home and prosper this last week.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I did not Yeah, I did not bid on that.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I didn't know that.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I didn't either, but I didn't know it's for sale.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I need to talk to the real estate people, say hey,
- 12:52Speaker 2: next time, give me a shot at it.
- 12:54Speaker 3: You know, so quite the mansion.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of like an eight acre lake stocked
- 13:00Speaker 2: with bass on the place.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I mean he's got some land there. Imagine he has
- 13:04Speaker 3: a golf course inside.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Well, he's got everything inside, you know, theaters, he had
- 13:08Speaker 2: it all. I mean it was pretty pretty special.
- 13:12Speaker 3: This one.
- 13:12Speaker 2: I didn't understand Tim Tebow.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's ridiculous.
- 13:17Speaker 1: I mean, the villain, the fact that he knelt now
- 13:20Speaker 1: and gave praise and you know, some people didn't.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Write that correct, but Ryan McGee did say it's the
- 13:26Speaker 2: only member of the list that would be included if
- 13:28Speaker 2: we were ranking the all time college football good guys.
- 13:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Absolutely, I never could understand that.
- 13:36Speaker 3: I didn't have a problem with that.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I didn't have a problem with the Broncos what he
- 13:40Speaker 1: did with the Broncos. I mean, he wasn't a great
- 13:42Speaker 1: NFL quarterback. He was a terrific college quarterback.
- 13:45Speaker 2: And he had the jump back, he had that playoff
- 13:48Speaker 2: wind that was just spectacular. That was just like he
- 13:51Speaker 2: was at Florida, right, I mean, he had a couple
- 13:53Speaker 2: of moments, and you're right, he wasn't good enough to
- 13:56Speaker 2: be a consistently great NFL quarterback, but he did.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Have his But I mean I like him on the
- 14:02Speaker 3: SEC network too. I mean, I think he's good.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And he's going to be used more this year. I
- 14:05Speaker 1: saw I think, Yeah, I liked him. Tebow, He's definitely
- 14:08Speaker 1: on my list.
- 14:08Speaker 3: ESPN. Yeah, I'll go with that me too.
- 14:15Speaker 2: But I like what McGhee said. Perhaps you've heard, but
- 14:19Speaker 2: we hate your team. It doesn't matter which team that is.
- 14:24Speaker 2: We hate them all. I'm not supposed to tell you this,
- 14:27Speaker 2: but we have meetings every week just to come up
- 14:29Speaker 2: with ways to be little and assault your favorite team.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I do like that. That's beautiful. That's pretty funny.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Agies are the most sensitive group.
- 14:38Speaker 2: I said that last week is that I've never I
- 14:42Speaker 2: don't is there any announcer aside from their own, that
- 14:47Speaker 2: they've ever had that they thought they liked?
- 14:50Speaker 3: Well, I don't think so.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I can't remember what everyone except for Dave and now Andrew.
- 15:02Speaker 3: Hate A and M.
- 15:03Speaker 1: I loved listening to Brent Musburger do A and M
- 15:06Speaker 1: football games.
- 15:07Speaker 2: You're looking he's the worst. He hated A and M.
- 15:14Speaker 2: He was so pro u t it wasn't even funny.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I love it. That's that's great.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean I would list I would listen to
- 15:26Speaker 1: him over and over and over again. Hobard Jacobs and
- 15:28Speaker 1: I used to talk about how much we love Brent Musburger.
- 15:31Speaker 1: And then, of course to a degree, A and M
- 15:34Speaker 1: made ESPN college football back in the eighties.
- 15:38Speaker 3: They were like three weeks in a row. A and
- 15:40Speaker 3: M was on ESPN when A and M was getting good.
- 15:43Speaker 3: And this was this was before h this was before wait,
- 15:49Speaker 3: before game day. Yeah, this is the eighties.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And like Ron Franklin and and uh you know they
- 15:55Speaker 1: had the facegiving night at at Kyle Field and that
- 16:00Speaker 1: was just.
- 16:00Speaker 3: So Friday nights. Yeah. Yeah, Notre Dame. Yeah, they belonged,
- 16:07Speaker 3: they belonged there. Yeah yeah, I mean they get the
- 16:10Speaker 3: benefit of everybody.
- 16:11Speaker 2: What's interesting is they said the nineteen ninety Miami Hurricanes.
- 16:15Speaker 3: I just think it was Miami in general.
- 16:17Speaker 1: So what I remember very clearly was the the Miami
- 16:22Speaker 1: team that came to Dallas to play sexist.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Yes, they got off on the fatigues.
- 16:26Speaker 1: They won forty just throttled and they did it intentionally
- 16:32Speaker 1: and they were flamboyant.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and they.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Were Russell Maryland I think was part of that team.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I mean they had great players.
- 16:39Speaker 1: They had great players, and they just took the light
- 16:42Speaker 1: in humiliated sex.
- 16:44Speaker 2: But they took the light in fairness. They took the
- 16:47Speaker 2: light humiliating everyone.
- 16:49Speaker 3: That was their style. Yeah, Michael Irving.
- 16:51Speaker 2: I watched I watched the CNN Decade in Sports last night,
- 16:55Speaker 2: like okay, well last night they did the eighties I remember,
- 16:58Speaker 2: and they talked about Jimmy and the Hurricanes and and
- 17:02Speaker 2: and everyone else, and they talked about the fact that
- 17:06Speaker 2: when players were dancing and taking their helmets off, and
- 17:10Speaker 2: and and jesting towards the other team and doing what
- 17:13Speaker 2: you just said, right, that that that vast majority of
- 17:18Speaker 2: coaches say, hey, we're not going to get fifteen yards.
- 17:21Speaker 2: You guys represent your school, blah blah blah. Jimmy's like,
- 17:25Speaker 2: bring it on.
- 17:26Speaker 1: It's interesting that the coaches versus convicts, thirty thirty was
- 17:30Speaker 1: in and their back.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I love that.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, coach coaches back to back and so everybody. I
- 17:36Speaker 1: can see what people Catholics versus yeah can yeah, but yeah,
- 17:42Speaker 1: that was a great rivalry.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, loved it. It was great for college
- 17:47Speaker 3: football and Jimmy. Jimmy should be a villain on his own.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Oh no doubt, you know, no, now everything that you
- 17:54Speaker 3: need to know about Jimmy.
- 17:55Speaker 1: As we went to the Cowboys and divorce his wife,
- 17:57Speaker 1: he said, I used to have to get my wife
- 18:00Speaker 1: for all those glad handing events.
- 18:02Speaker 3: I don't need her in the NFL. Yeah, it's just
- 18:04Speaker 3: like he just he just said, I don't have time.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I don't have I don't need a wife. I don't
- 18:08Speaker 3: have time. I don't need somebody to be by myself.
- 18:11Speaker 2: In fairness, as he has aged and and and gotten
- 18:15Speaker 2: out of the coaching business and now retired, he's mellow desh.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Oh my gosh.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yeah, he understood the mistakes that he made right as
- 18:24Speaker 2: a young guy, which all of us make mistakes.
- 18:28Speaker 3: My favorite line of Jimmy of all time, though, it
- 18:30Speaker 3: is like.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Get over there, get over there on that asthma field,
- 18:33Speaker 1: have some asthma over there.
- 18:36Speaker 2: This is like his rookie season, who was the uh
- 18:39Speaker 2: A M linebackery cut for sleeping in the team meeting.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Oh Johnny, that wasn't Johnny Roper Roper Yeah, Yeah, he
- 18:49Speaker 1: cut him that on the spot he fell asleep.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Yeah, he cut him on the spot. Yeah, but he
- 18:53Speaker 3: did that to again, it wasn't just he did that
- 18:56Speaker 3: to everybody, did Michael? But if Akman had fallen.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Michael Irvin tells his story that his first game his
- 19:07Speaker 2: rookie season after he was drafted, he got, they got,
- 19:12Speaker 2: they lost. They lost a lot of games that year.
- 19:14Speaker 2: They're like, what one in fifteen or something in.
- 19:16Speaker 3: His first year?
- 19:17Speaker 2: Okay, okay, but this was his first game as a rookie, said,
- 19:21Speaker 2: I was crying. I walked into the locker room and
- 19:25Speaker 2: everybody's like, hey, rook what's the problem.
- 19:28Speaker 3: So what's the problem. We just lost.
- 19:30Speaker 2: He goes, hey, go pick up your check and come
- 19:33Speaker 2: to practice tomorrow. That's just life in the you know,
- 19:36Speaker 2: in the in the big leagues. And he just he
- 19:40Speaker 2: went ape. He said no, And so he made a list.
- 19:47Speaker 2: He took it to Jimmy because Jimmy had been as
- 19:49Speaker 2: coach in college as well, and said, these are the
- 19:52Speaker 2: list of guys we have to get rid of because
- 19:55Speaker 2: they don't care. They don't care about winning. And I
- 19:59Speaker 2: thought that was just, you know, it's classic. That was classic.
- 20:04Speaker 1: He was Micha Lvan was one of the kinds. He
- 20:07Speaker 1: was in so many ways, from the way he played
- 20:11Speaker 1: to the way he partied. Yeah, everything about he did
- 20:14Speaker 1: everything at the top.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Yeah, he was. He didn't cut any corners. No, he
- 20:19Speaker 3: was not. There was a lot of cowboys that I
- 20:21Speaker 3: went to church with. He was not one.
- 20:23Speaker 2: He was not.
- 20:25Speaker 3: He was not. Darren Woodson went to church with me,
- 20:28Speaker 3: and I remember very we had these little coin in
- 20:30Speaker 3: the Hall of Fame. He should be.
- 20:32Speaker 1: We had these little coins where we had to pick
- 20:34Speaker 1: up our kids. And so Darren was behind me in
- 20:36Speaker 1: line and I wasn't trying to be mister fan with
- 20:40Speaker 1: Darren Woodson, but I dropped the coin.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I was waiting to pick up my son.
- 20:43Speaker 1: I had to, you know, the diaper bag in the carryall,
- 20:47Speaker 1: and I.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Managed to catch it with my backhanded and you dropped it. No,
- 20:52Speaker 3: I caught it. Yeah, that's what I mean. And Darren
- 20:54Speaker 3: Woodson goes nice hands. So you were levin laar. Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I told my wife about that. Yeah, there wasn't just that, Uh,
- 21:06Speaker 3: the Boz. Yeah, I mean he was. He was the epitome.
- 21:10Speaker 3: When I was in college. I remember loving the Boss
- 21:12Speaker 3: and and just him.
- 21:14Speaker 1: It was a lot like yeah, but I mean he
- 21:18Speaker 1: that was the eighties and I liked it. I mean
- 21:23Speaker 1: I remember when he got draft played in the NFL
- 21:25Speaker 1: and he got run over. He did, oh yeah by Bo.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Bo Jackson ran him.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Bo Jackson ran him over. Yeah, he was not mouthing
- 21:34Speaker 3: very much that game.
- 21:35Speaker 2: By the way, Bo was part of the eighties. Last
- 21:38Speaker 2: night too, on the Deal, they showed that that center
- 21:40Speaker 2: field catch over his shoulder and then they.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Got the wall. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, he's amazing.
- 21:47Speaker 8: He was.
- 21:48Speaker 3: He had not gotten hurt. I'm telling you, Yeah, he was.
- 21:52Speaker 3: He was special. Yeah. Uh, Johnny is number three on
- 21:55Speaker 3: the list.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I mean Johnny in college was must sy TV.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I have a problem with Johnny being like I think.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I said this to Lewis, I said, the only villain,
- 22:08Speaker 1: the only fan base that has the right to see
- 22:11Speaker 1: him as a villain, or the Cleveland Browns because he
- 22:14Speaker 1: did nothing there. He wasted an opportunity. He never opened
- 22:19Speaker 1: the playbook. He was embarrassing to the sport because he
- 22:24Speaker 1: didn't do the little things he needed to do, but.
- 22:27Speaker 3: A villain in college. I just remember the kid.
- 22:30Speaker 1: From LSU, the linebacker after Johnny in the Abbe's beat Alabama,
- 22:35Speaker 1: and they interviewed he was a really good linebacker at LSU.
- 22:38Speaker 3: And they interviewed me, like, are you surprised that A
- 22:41Speaker 3: and M beat Alabama?
- 22:42Speaker 1: And he was like, oh no, Johnny football man, Johnny football.
- 22:47Speaker 1: And it was just over and over. He goes, that's
- 22:49Speaker 1: Johnny football. Yeah, and so he's like, you know, I
- 22:52Speaker 1: think the players that played against him respected him. I
- 22:57Speaker 1: mean I remember walking.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Down you you better have respect.
- 23:00Speaker 1: I remember walking out with my family in an Old Miss.
- 23:03Speaker 1: It was because for some reason, and him played Old
- 23:06Speaker 1: Miss twice in Oxford. Yes, I remember, this is two thousand,
- 23:10Speaker 1: last second win, right, big long pass. So this is
- 23:14Speaker 1: twenty thirteen, and I remember walking out with my family
- 23:18Speaker 1: out of the Old Miss stadium and I just remember
- 23:22Speaker 1: this sorority girl looking at us with our A and
- 23:26Speaker 1: M stuff on.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Because I hate blankety blanking Johnny Man's. That's all you
- 23:33Speaker 3: need is say no, you gotta love that. Exactly number
- 23:37Speaker 3: two under less it's Lane Kiffin.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Oh that's easy. Yeah, I can see that Yeah. Again,
- 23:42Speaker 1: I like Lane Kiffin, but he's over the top. Yeah,
- 23:46Speaker 1: I mean it's kind of a way.
- 23:48Speaker 3: It's like, I'm sadda he's off social media right now. Yeah.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I wish he made a bet with his son, and
- 23:55Speaker 2: son told him you can't stay off.
- 23:56Speaker 3: So I wish Trump's family would make that bet. That
- 24:01Speaker 3: wouldn't change anything.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Uh, but yeah, I wish you would. I wish you'd
- 24:06Speaker 2: get back on social media.
- 24:08Speaker 3: He's uh.
- 24:10Speaker 2: And then number one was is the old ball coach
- 24:13Speaker 2: Steve Spurrier.
- 24:14Speaker 1: Steve spur said everything that everybody wanted to say, correct.
- 24:20Speaker 3: And it was a little like Mike Leach from that standpoint. Yeah,
- 24:23Speaker 3: and he you know, I just used to love Steve Spurrier, And.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Well he was another guy. I think you either loved
- 24:30Speaker 2: or hated what he did at South Carolina. I mean,
- 24:32Speaker 2: you knew he's a great coach at Florida, but then.
- 24:35Speaker 3: To go to South Carolina.
- 24:36Speaker 2: No, no, no, he wanted Duke. Oh yeah, you're right, right, Yeah,
- 24:40Speaker 2: he wanted Duke. That's let's start there. And uh, yeah,
- 24:46Speaker 2: he was a brilliant coach obviously, yeah.
- 24:49Speaker 1: He and he he was quick witted freeshoes University.
- 24:53Speaker 3: He just every coach he coached against hated him.
- 24:57Speaker 2: At a Tennessee was the worst man. You can't spell
- 25:04Speaker 2: Citrus without Uto. That is just one of the great
- 25:08Speaker 2: quotes in the history of sports.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Yes, I love that one. Just stick a knife in Tennessee.
- 25:15Speaker 3: Man, Oh my gosh. He he owned Phil Filmer. He
- 25:20Speaker 3: did at Fulmer just oh my. You could tell he
- 25:26Speaker 3: wanted to choke him.
- 25:28Speaker 1: So you don't want thought that list is interesting, But
- 25:32Speaker 1: I'll put out like if I was gonna put a
- 25:36Speaker 1: villain list on there, n C double A, n C
- 25:39Speaker 1: double A, I put s m U up there, like,
- 25:42Speaker 1: I mean, the governor of Texas was involved in their scandal.
- 25:46Speaker 2: You'd have to think that he was involved. Yes, how
- 25:49Speaker 2: about the Baylor football coach? Oh browser, Yeah, yeah, I
- 25:53Speaker 2: mean that's a villain.
- 25:55Speaker 1: I mean, you can't tell me that that he didn't
- 25:58Speaker 1: know what was going down at some level. But I
- 26:00Speaker 1: mean Smu they earned it and they basically they wanted
- 26:06Speaker 1: it and said, no, we're not gonna stop.
- 26:08Speaker 3: What are you gonna do? You know? Just I tell.
- 26:10Speaker 2: You that every every time that thirty for thirty is on,
- 26:16Speaker 2: I watch it every scene.
- 26:18Speaker 3: I bet I've seen it ten times.
- 26:20Speaker 1: And I and then he said, I bet you I've
- 26:22Speaker 1: seen it thirty times.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Okay, So what what made me think about what you
- 26:26Speaker 2: just said was was Dale Hansen because he was one
- 26:30Speaker 2: of the stars of that you know, thirty for thirty documentary.
- 26:35Speaker 2: But but he was talking about it. He goes, it's
- 26:39Speaker 2: like a mauvie little kid. You see a mauvied little
- 26:44Speaker 2: kid and the parents say, well, we never spank, and
- 26:46Speaker 2: he says, well, no kidding.
- 26:49Speaker 3: He said, smu. They kept telling.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Them stop, we mean it, stop and they wouldn't do it.
- 26:58Speaker 2: And we kept saying we're not kidding, you have to stop.
- 27:04Speaker 3: And they never stopped. They did, they never stopped.
- 27:09Speaker 1: And they, like I said, they flaunted it in the
- 27:11Speaker 1: faces of just about everybody. But I mean when I
- 27:13Speaker 1: think of villain, yeah, I do think like our bra
- 27:16Speaker 1: Jerry Sanduski.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's started.
- 27:20Speaker 1: There, Joe Turno knowing that those people guys are that's
- 27:25Speaker 1: that they tore down the statue Joe Turno rightfully, so, yes, But.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I mean it's not like I mean, that's sick.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah, see that those are two tall different to two levels.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Now, I mean, if you're saying, okay, okay, here's here's
- 27:43Speaker 1: the top ten of people who loved to dislike Yeah, yeah, okay,
- 27:47Speaker 1: and I think it's more that, but I mean beloved
- 27:51Speaker 1: Johnny Manziela Texas, A and M beloved the Boss.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Loves Florida everywhere it went. Yes, yeah, absolute. You know,
- 28:00Speaker 3: it's so interesting. I was at the.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Game, the Kitty Hill game in Columbia. Yeah, and that
- 28:07Speaker 2: was the beginning of the end for Spurrier. He retired
- 28:11Speaker 2: during the season that year, right, and A and M
- 28:14Speaker 2: just beat the crap out of him. And as I
- 28:17Speaker 2: like to do on the road, I went into his
- 28:21Speaker 2: news conference while I was a home. You know, I
- 28:24Speaker 2: didn't go to that. I went to his news conference.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I still may have that somewhere. But it was just
- 28:30Speaker 2: like mad that was it was like a death in
- 28:34Speaker 2: the family because he wasn't used to get beat like that, right,
- 28:38Speaker 2: and he didn't expect to get beat like that because
- 28:41Speaker 2: they had had it going pretty good there, right, I mean,
- 28:43Speaker 2: he had had that program running pretty good, and this
- 28:48Speaker 2: was the I don't want to say the beginning of
- 28:51Speaker 2: the end.
- 28:51Speaker 3: This was like the middle of the end because.
- 28:53Speaker 2: He retired about three or four games after that in
- 28:56Speaker 2: the season.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Remember, yeah, I throw another villain out at you. Okay,
- 29:00Speaker 1: this is true my childhood, I remember watching the Gator Bowls. Yeah,
- 29:07Speaker 1: the Clemson player on the sideline, you know, he just
- 29:11Speaker 1: he ruined the legacy.
- 29:13Speaker 3: He sure did, you know.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Uh, I could not believe I was watching live and
- 29:17Speaker 1: they should have over and over it over again. He
- 29:20Speaker 1: just it was like kind of like the Alabama player
- 29:23Speaker 1: jumped off the field sideline tackled Dicky Magle in the
- 29:26Speaker 1: Cotton Bowl, like he said Tommy Lewis, Yeah, he couldn't
- 29:29Speaker 1: help it, right, Yeah, but I mean this was to
- 29:31Speaker 1: punch a college player like basically in the throat area,
- 29:36Speaker 1: like that's a villain.
- 29:37Speaker 3: That's a villain. Yeah, I mean, yeah, you're right.
- 29:41Speaker 2: All right, we'll take a break. Rusty Berson is in

- 34:08Speaker 4: Bird Dozer knockets. Then you've gotta know that, you know
- 34:20Speaker 4: they didn't jazz.
- 34:22Speaker 3: You know what'd you say this number was? It's eighteen
- 34:26Speaker 3: number eighteen. Wow, that's hard to believe.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Welcome back, Rusty person in brought to you by in Tech.
- 34:34Speaker 2: We have got We're continuing our SEC preview tomorrow, will
- 34:41Speaker 2: do Vanderbilt. We'll do South Carolina to h VANDERBILTA. Well,
- 34:49Speaker 2: they don't have the quarterback. Uh, we'll see, Yeah, we'll see,
- 34:53Speaker 2: we'll see. I think the guys built a program. That
- 34:57Speaker 2: doesn't mean they're going to win ten games.
- 34:59Speaker 3: Uh.
- 35:01Speaker 2: And South Carolina to be is very interesting because they
- 35:05Speaker 2: have many of the same players backs and Leonoris's back.
- 35:11Speaker 2: He was a Heismid candidate when the season started, had
- 35:13Speaker 2: a bad year, was four and eight. Shane Beemer has
- 35:18Speaker 2: a lot of heat coming down on him. Brutal schedule, Absolutely,
- 35:23Speaker 2: brutal schedule.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Okay, enough of that stuff.
- 35:27Speaker 1: I heard that A and M when they place South Carolina.
- 35:30Speaker 1: They're taking the police officer with him.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Ah, that'd be good. They're all they'll all be scared
- 35:36Speaker 2: of him. They won't be giving him any lip.
- 35:38Speaker 3: No, they won't.
- 35:40Speaker 2: So today, Joey McGuire and you you said Texas Tech
- 35:46Speaker 2: should be on that list on the villain but you're
- 35:48Speaker 2: you're prejudice, yes, on the villain list because of the
- 35:52Speaker 2: quarterback situation.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Right.
- 35:53Speaker 2: I'm not arguing that that that what they did was
- 35:57Speaker 2: uh reprehensible, But what our will argue, they're just one
- 36:03Speaker 2: of a hundred schools that that probably them do stuff
- 36:08Speaker 2: like that to try to get an edge. Joey maguire
- 36:13Speaker 2: tells on Three Sports Today. First of all, they can't
- 36:17Speaker 2: get anybody to play them. And I believe that because
- 36:22Speaker 2: I said, people don't want batteries thrown at them at goalposts,
- 36:25Speaker 2: you know, thrown at them. He mentioned A and m USC,
- 36:30Speaker 2: North Carolina State and Mississippi State is all teams that
- 36:33Speaker 2: have been contacted to play home and homes that have
- 36:37Speaker 2: said no, we're not, We're not doing that.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Why would any SEC school do that? I mean, I
- 36:42Speaker 3: just don't get it.
- 36:44Speaker 2: Well, I mean, all SEC schools want to play at
- 36:46Speaker 2: home anyway, right right, I mean, and they don't. And
- 36:50Speaker 2: I would argue, now with the ninth game, we're going
- 36:54Speaker 2: to see less and less of the intersectional games and
- 36:57Speaker 2: non conference games.
- 36:59Speaker 3: You know, we're just not going to see that. Yeah.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I mean, my daughter in law is a text tech
- 37:03Speaker 1: grad and she acknowledged that it's just boring without you know,
- 37:07Speaker 1: A and M taxes, and.
- 37:10Speaker 3: It's just boring.
- 37:12Speaker 2: He said, quote, we're the most hated team in college football,
- 37:16Speaker 2: and I absolutely love it. Now, what I said, Rusty,
- 37:21Speaker 2: is you have to think about Texas Tech to be
- 37:24Speaker 2: the absolute most hated team. Now, for about a month
- 37:27Speaker 2: this summer or the spring, you know, everybody was writing
- 37:33Speaker 2: about the administration, the coaching staff, everything about it. It's
- 37:39Speaker 2: everything that's wrong about college football. It's the worst program
- 37:42Speaker 2: in history. But all of that has gone Now Sowersby's
- 37:46Speaker 2: not playing, you know, he's not being drafted by the NFL,
- 37:50Speaker 2: so all of that's died down. My thing is, in
- 37:54Speaker 2: order to be the most hated team in college football,
- 37:56Speaker 2: people have to think about you all the time and
- 38:00Speaker 2: argue that Texas Tech is far, far, far from the
- 38:03Speaker 2: most hated team in.
- 38:04Speaker 3: College He would love that. Yeah, and him saying it,
- 38:10Speaker 3: you know, is great for the team. Right.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Hey, everyone's against this, but every coach plays that car. Sure,
- 38:17Speaker 2: that's an old, old old thing. But again, I would
- 38:22Speaker 2: argue that people in Oregon aren't thinking about Texas Tech,
- 38:26Speaker 2: and people at Indiana aren't thinking about Texas Tech.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Ohio State's not thinking about it, Ohio.
- 38:32Speaker 2: State ain't thinking about Texas Tech, and a m in
- 38:35Speaker 2: Texas aren't thinking about Texas Tech. So they're not the
- 38:39Speaker 2: most hated team in college football. If you want to
- 38:42Speaker 2: put Texas on that list, I would I would say, yeah,
- 38:46Speaker 2: you're they're they're up there. I don't know who the
- 38:49Speaker 2: most hated team would be.
- 38:52Speaker 12: Probably is they're also the most beloved, correct, But you know,
- 38:56Speaker 12: I mean it's honestly, so many fans don't even root
- 39:03Speaker 12: for Notre Dame, but if they're Catholics, they naturally followed
- 39:07Speaker 12: Notre Dame because that's the school.
- 39:09Speaker 2: It's like the Mormons and by U exactly.
- 39:12Speaker 3: And that's just the way it is. Yeah, And you know,
- 39:16Speaker 3: I mean, I think the teams that are.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Most hated to me, or the teams that are going
- 39:21Speaker 2: to win consistently a lot of states up there. Alabama's
- 39:25Speaker 2: got to be up there, not there anymore, but they were.
- 39:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 2: I mean the teams that are that are going to
- 39:30Speaker 2: be in the top five year in a year out,
- 39:33Speaker 2: those inevitably are going to be the most hated teams.
- 39:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:36Speaker 1: If Indiana wins the next five in a row, then
- 39:38Speaker 1: they'll be hated to you.
- 39:39Speaker 3: Right now, they're they're still Cinderella. Oh yeah, they're the
- 39:43Speaker 3: great story. Yeah.
- 39:45Speaker 2: But I saw herb Street today talking to Dan Patrick,
- 39:51Speaker 2: and he said, look, if you think Indiana is going
- 39:53Speaker 2: anywhere as long as Kurt Signetti is there, they're not
- 39:57Speaker 2: going anywhere. That doesn't mean they're going to win seventeen
- 39:59Speaker 2: games this next year because I'm not crazy about the quarterback. Okay,
- 40:04Speaker 2: I will say that Signetti and his staff are quarterback whisperers.
- 40:09Speaker 2: If Josh Hoover comes in from TCU and does great
- 40:12Speaker 2: things this year, yeah, I mean I will. I'll give
- 40:16Speaker 2: them all the credit. And I'm not saying they can't
- 40:18Speaker 2: do it. I'm just saying he's gonna have to show me.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Because he showed flashes at TCU and was just frustratingly inconsistent.
- 40:28Speaker 2: He threw the ball the other team as much as
- 40:30Speaker 2: he threw to his own and so they got incredible
- 40:35Speaker 2: quarterback play last year, right, you have to if you're
- 40:38Speaker 2: gonna win a national championship, and.
- 40:40Speaker 3: They did and those was incredible.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah. But you look at Indiana, They're gonna be good
- 40:48Speaker 2: this year. I mean they're they're gonna be good.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Yeah they are. How State's gonna be good. Oh, State's
- 40:54Speaker 3: gonna be really good this year. Texas is gonna be good. Yeah,
- 40:57Speaker 3: you think they're gonna be good.
- 41:00Speaker 1: You know, Oklahoma's defense is gonna be really good. I
- 41:03Speaker 1: don't know defenses.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Their quarterback has to prove it to me, and their
- 41:07Speaker 2: head coach has to prove it to me.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you're right, Brent Minibles has proven it.
- 41:11Speaker 2: They went to the playoffs last year. Yeah, okay, I'm
- 41:14Speaker 2: under given that. I didn't think they would. And maybe
- 41:17Speaker 2: he builds on that, and I could be wrong. I
- 41:20Speaker 2: could be way wrong. He has a brilliant defensive coach
- 41:23Speaker 2: and he always has been ever where he's been. His
- 41:26Speaker 2: defense is that been courch well And I.
- 41:28Speaker 3: A wlould think that the same thing can be said
- 41:30Speaker 3: of Marcel Reid is he has to prove it.
- 41:33Speaker 1: You got to prove it, because here's no doubt. You
- 41:35Speaker 1: got exposed the last two games.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you have to prove it.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and quite frankly, if you throw in the first
- 41:42Speaker 1: half of South Carolina and then I don't even remember
- 41:45Speaker 1: who played in that meaningless non conference in the directional game,
- 41:50Speaker 1: but he wasn't very good in that game.
- 41:52Speaker 3: And so he wasn't.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Really good except for two quarters in the last four games.
- 41:58Speaker 2: Second half of l Shoe, second half of South Carolina,
- 42:01Speaker 2: and the second half of South.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm talking about your last four games that
- 42:05Speaker 3: they play.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Yeah, so South Carolina, Yeah, whoever directional and then Texas
- 42:11Speaker 1: Miami in Miami, I mean miss wide open passes.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Miami pressured him.
- 42:16Speaker 1: And now that's going to be the issue because that
- 42:19Speaker 1: offensive line is going to be questionable and if they
- 42:22Speaker 1: make him, and quite frankly, I think Marcel is going
- 42:26Speaker 1: to have to run more and be more comfortable running
- 42:31Speaker 1: instead of trying to prove it.
- 42:32Speaker 2: It'll be interesting to see how different this offense is.
- 42:36Speaker 2: We're gonna hear from Home and Homan Wiggans tomorrow say again, well,
- 42:39Speaker 2: we'll carry that live. The offense and the defensive coordinators.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Will be with us.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Uh at eleven, you see one of the anonymous coaches
- 42:48Speaker 1: that ESPN had that said, Marcel still thinks he's a
- 42:52Speaker 1: real quarterback and we want him.
- 42:55Speaker 3: To think that.
- 42:56Speaker 1: The meaning what meaning that he wanted to prove that
- 43:01Speaker 1: he could sit back there and be the pocket passer
- 43:03Speaker 1: because when he runs, that's when he's his most dangerous.
- 43:07Speaker 3: Well, there's no doubt I would argue.
- 43:09Speaker 2: Also when he's when he's scrambling, receivers can can scramble
- 43:14Speaker 2: to be open as well. You know, uh, accuracy, I
- 43:20Speaker 2: need to see more you know, we we and I
- 43:23Speaker 2: think you're saying the same thing.
- 43:24Speaker 3: We just we just need to see more accuracy.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Well, the things that stick out of my mind from
- 43:28Speaker 1: the Miami game are missing wide open guys.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Yeah, and make him forcings and fairness. He's done that
- 43:34Speaker 3: for for a couple of years, right.
- 43:35Speaker 1: And he has to evolve if an muff otherwise a
- 43:39Speaker 1: m schedules is too brutal.
- 43:41Speaker 3: It's not good.
- 43:42Speaker 1: And it's the same thing we're talking about Oklahoma. There's
- 43:44Speaker 1: some strengths and him has Their receivers are really good. Yes,
- 43:48Speaker 1: I think their dvs could be pretty darn good. I mean,
- 43:51Speaker 1: but do they have enough offensive line? Ken Marcel takes
- 43:54Speaker 1: it is the running games. Yeah, there's there's questions.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Who knows, no doubt so, and.
- 44:00Speaker 2: You know, as I go through this preview, you can't.
- 44:02Speaker 2: You have to factor in the schedule. And I talked
- 44:05Speaker 2: to Phil Steele, you know, a week and a half
- 44:07Speaker 2: ago that you know, when he makes his his he
- 44:11Speaker 2: has a power list of teams. But that power list
- 44:15Speaker 2: of teams differ from his top twenty five teams because
- 44:20Speaker 2: he's talking about potential and how good those teams are,
- 44:23Speaker 2: but then he looks at the schedule and what they
- 44:26Speaker 2: have to do.
- 44:27Speaker 3: Right. Yeah.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I talked to some guys really who know Marcel and
- 44:32Speaker 1: watched him and said, hey, can they take to that step?
- 44:35Speaker 1: And they were questioned, can he We don't know, you know,
- 44:39Speaker 1: has he really shown that?
- 44:41Speaker 3: I mean? Or is that who he is? Yeah? You know,
- 44:45Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know.
- 44:46Speaker 2: I mean, I want to go back to a quote
- 44:48Speaker 2: that coach Leech always said about quarterbacks.
- 44:52Speaker 3: What do you look for in a quarterback?
- 44:55Speaker 2: And his first answer is always accuracy? He said, I
- 45:00Speaker 2: can I can teach them the system, I can teach them,
- 45:06Speaker 2: you know, other things, but are they accurate?
- 45:10Speaker 3: That is number one on the list.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Yeah, And I would also add, are they decisive. Do
- 45:16Speaker 1: they make a decision quickly because I think quite frankly,
- 45:19Speaker 1: arch man.
- 45:19Speaker 3: And leeches off it. They had to, right.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Yeah, arch Manning beat TEXA, A and M last year
- 45:24Speaker 1: with his feet as much as he did with his arm.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Now he made some great pat arch Manning out played
- 45:29Speaker 1: Marcel Read last year, no doubt. Yeah, And you know
- 45:33Speaker 1: that that was disappointing to me as Nan and Fan
- 45:37Speaker 1: going into that game thinking okay and Ams got the
- 45:40Speaker 1: lead of half. Okay, AIM's gonna come out here and
- 45:43Speaker 1: then they're gonna pull away. Now it was just the opposite.
- 45:46Speaker 1: You need to let that one go. We're starting a
- 45:51Speaker 1: new season.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Still talk about let's visit that Milson cise. Let's fisit?
- 45:57Speaker 3: Me too? Me too? Me too? I'm talking about the fits.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Come on, what what are you thinking? Rod Washington?
- 46:06Speaker 2: The Rangers Report What a lead was brought to you
- 46:10Speaker 2: by Shorlty Roofing and the Decker Financial Group.
- 46:13Speaker 13: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 46:16Speaker 13: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around and then
- 46:18Speaker 13: I found Shorlty Roofing, and boy, I'm glad I did.
- 46:21Speaker 13: The folks at Shulty guided me every step of the way.
- 46:24Speaker 13: They showed me my options. They told me what my
- 46:26Speaker 13: out of pocket cost would be after insurance. They took
- 46:29Speaker 13: the complication out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They
- 46:32Speaker 13: took off the damaged roof, put on the new roof,
- 46:34Speaker 13: did all the clean up, and I had my new
- 46:36Speaker 13: roof in.
- 46:37Speaker 1: One day, the whole by the volley roof.
- 46:45Speaker 14: I'm superbeck to the range of report where the rangers
- 46:47Speaker 14: able to complete the SUITEP.
- 46:49Speaker 4: Hi.

- 47:18Speaker 14: Rangers try to complete this weep of the Orioles yesterday,
- 47:20Speaker 14: but were never able to shut down the Oriole offense
- 47:23Speaker 14: or even get their owns going. Manager Skip Schumacher was
- 47:26Speaker 14: asked postgame, what were the issues in yesterday's game?
- 47:30Speaker 8: I thought, actually, we took some decent at bats and
- 47:32Speaker 8: we got the starter out pretty quick. Nimo had a
- 47:35Speaker 8: great day. We had some hard contact early, some good walks,
- 47:40Speaker 8: some deep counts, So I thought, you know, I thought
- 47:41Speaker 8: we did a pretty good job. I thought, I actually
- 47:43Speaker 8: thought nim Mighty clicked two of them, you know, the
- 47:45Speaker 8: first one to left field, deep left field and in
- 47:47Speaker 8: the one in center field got us back into the game.
- 47:50Speaker 8: But we just couldn't hold their offense down, unfortunately, and
- 47:55Speaker 8: it just kept adding on runs. And we scored five runs,
- 47:58Speaker 8: but just obviously wasn't enough.
- 48:00Speaker 14: Rangers lose to the Oils ten to five and stay
- 48:02Speaker 14: right at five hundred, at fifty nine and fifty nine

- 50:34Speaker 1: Stayed did you read the story where he took like
- 50:37Speaker 1: ten of his buddies, Out, yeah off Off, yeah and
- 50:41Speaker 1: then one by one they started.
- 50:43Speaker 3: Disappearing, yeah because they'd all been. Traded they've all been.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Traded yeah, Yeah and so what's he? Thinking?
- 50:49Speaker 1: Uh you, know this is the bet he's, made you
- 50:52Speaker 1: know it is it's he could have. Left he could have.
- 50:55Speaker 1: LEFT i MEAN i plogged him for. Staying not everybody, stays,
- 50:59Speaker 1: o'tana didn't you know WHAT i? Mean he he, This
- 51:03Speaker 1: he's forever gonna remember as an, Angel and there's something
- 51:06Speaker 1: to be.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Said for that there.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Is, however we haven't gotten to see him in the,
- 51:12Speaker 2: playoffs which is where you make.
- 51:14Speaker 3: History he's going to be in the, playoffs, right, Exactly
- 51:17Speaker 3: that's that's my. Point what's he been once one time one,
- 51:22Speaker 3: time didn't win a? Game, Yeah and and that's.

- 51:30Speaker 2: Where reggie hit three home. RUNS i mean you just
- 51:33Speaker 2: go on and. On that's where legends are made For Kirk,
- 51:35Speaker 2: gibson you, Know.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Kirk.
- 51:38Speaker 2: GIBSON i, mean just keep. Going Uh seeger hit a
- 51:43Speaker 2: home run? MADE i mean that's where they're. Made, yeah
- 51:49Speaker 2: and he's not going to have. That but what The
- 51:54Speaker 2: angels are. Terrible they play four, games they should win,
- 51:59Speaker 2: three but history tells us. Otherwise and you just told
- 52:02Speaker 2: me they're five at eight Against oakland IN la.
- 52:04Speaker 3: So far this.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Year, yeah And redeptmers was pitching, tonight has kind of
- 52:09Speaker 1: had their.
- 52:10Speaker 3: Number and you just.
- 52:12Speaker 2: There's a long list of pictures that you could say that.
- 52:15Speaker 1: ABOUT i, mean you have no idea what Mackinsey gore
- 52:19Speaker 1: is gonna give.
- 52:19Speaker 3: You, no you.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Don't and he's usually really good except for one, inning
- 52:24Speaker 1: and you still know when that end is and by the, WAY.
- 52:27Speaker 3: I DON'T i don't know What jacob De grom is
- 52:29Speaker 3: gonna give.
- 52:29Speaker 1: Me, yep he's had a really tough time out. THERE i,
- 52:32Speaker 1: mean last time they're out, there they got swept by The.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Angels it's a totally different, team but they got swept
- 52:38Speaker 1: in a three game. Series now The angels are they're
- 52:41Speaker 1: down to the the bare. Bones but you, know redebtmer
- 52:46Speaker 1: is pretty.
- 52:46Speaker 2: Good i'm surprised At oakland because until they went on
- 52:50Speaker 2: that long losing, streak you, KNOW i, thought, hey this
- 52:53Speaker 2: is a you, know they've got some talent and young
- 52:56Speaker 2: talent on that. Team and and now they've just turned To.
- 52:59Speaker 2: Oakland but they owned The.
- 53:00Speaker 3: Rangers so then they just took two out of three
- 53:02Speaker 3: from The Red. Sox yes they. DID i mean in
- 53:05Speaker 3: The Red sox are on. Fire, YEAH i.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Know my thing is in this is this a six
- 53:10Speaker 2: game street that they only play Two clint so it's seven.
- 53:14Speaker 1: So there's four In anaheim and three In oakland or
- 53:16Speaker 1: three and wherever they, play, Yeah Sachrit.
- 53:20Speaker 3: Sacramento so SO.
- 53:23Speaker 2: I would, say AS i said here, today if if
- 53:27Speaker 2: they can win four out of those, Seven i'll be.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Happy AND i don't expect. MORE i want to say greedy.
- 53:35Speaker 3: Ly i'd like to say five and, two but, three
- 53:38Speaker 3: but they're a five hundred. Teem. Yeah you. Know the thing,
- 53:42Speaker 3: IS i was Reading Evan, grant uh and.
