- 0:18Speaker 4: little hairdos, y'all ain't from around.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Here, are ya? This is Sid Hagan. You're fucking around
- 0:24Speaker 2: with Movie Meltdown.
- 0:26Speaker 5: Why don't you just take your mama home some chicken
- 0:28Speaker 5: and then I won't have to stuff my boot all
- 0:30Speaker 5: up in your ass.
- 0:38Speaker 6: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:40Speaker 6: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences
- 0:44Speaker 6: and parental discretion is advised. It's showtime, folks.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Enjoy the show.
- 1:02Speaker 7: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:48Speaker 8: What's up, and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian, and
- 1:50Speaker 8: this week we're going to be debuting one of those
- 1:52Speaker 8: shorter episodes we're going to be working in. Maybe we'll
- 1:54Speaker 8: call them Fun Size. I mean, we are heading towards Halloween.
- 1:58Speaker 9: And what better time to.
- 1:59Speaker 8: Talk to someone who is not only a horror icon.
- 2:02Speaker 9: But as.
- 2:02Speaker 8: Far as I'm concerned, a film legend. Sid Haig has
- 2:05Speaker 8: been in so many cool movies over the years, it's astounding.
- 2:08Speaker 8: Not to mention his number of TV appearances and the
- 2:11Speaker 8: hardcore fan.
- 2:12Speaker 9: Base he's built over the years.
- 2:14Speaker 8: He's a legend and one I consider myself lucky to
- 2:16Speaker 8: have sat down and talked with. And actually, lucky enough
- 2:19Speaker 8: to talk with him more than once. Which I'll go
- 2:22Speaker 8: into more in a minute here. But I did want
- 2:23Speaker 8: to say, the bulk of the first part of the interview,
- 2:26Speaker 8: I'm not thrilled with the sound quality. I just wanted
- 2:28Speaker 8: to say that beforehand. But it's such a cool interview
- 2:31Speaker 8: that I wanted to share it with you. It's one
- 2:33Speaker 8: that I'm glad you put together. But keep in mind,
- 2:35Speaker 8: as you'll hear me state in a minute, it was
- 2:37Speaker 8: at the time meant to be recorded just to be
- 2:40Speaker 8: used for a print interview. So it wasn't planned out
- 2:42Speaker 8: for it to sound good just to get Sid's quotes right.
- 2:46Speaker 8: So there aren't any individual mics. It's not planned to
- 2:48Speaker 8: block out any background noise. It's just a simple recorder
- 2:51Speaker 8: set on the table between us. I've worked with a
- 2:54Speaker 8: file and tried to clean up the sound as best
- 2:56Speaker 8: I could, but there's really only so much you can
- 2:58Speaker 8: do when you.
- 2:59Speaker 9: Start from a limited situation.
- 3:01Speaker 8: But it's an interesting interview, and we learned some really
- 3:03Speaker 8: cool things about Sid, some of which I didn't know
- 3:05Speaker 8: anything about, and will probably be.
- 3:06Speaker 9: News to some of you as well.
- 3:08Speaker 8: So we'll cut away here for a minute, and as
- 3:09Speaker 8: we come back, you'll hear me describing the scenario to Lucy.
- 3:12Speaker 8: That same day that we sat down with Sid, we
- 3:15Speaker 8: did this little intro here, and I explained to her
- 3:17Speaker 8: how the first interview came about, and then we'll kind
- 3:20Speaker 8: of wrap up with a new piece of the interview.
- 3:22Speaker 8: So we'll be back in a minute and get into
- 3:24Speaker 8: our discussion with Lucy as we get into the interview
- 3:26Speaker 8: with Sid.
- 3:52Speaker 10: Cannibal spiders, mutant crawls, boys and goons having a ball,
- 3:58Speaker 10: and a Frankenstein Dracula, and even the mummy.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Are sure to end up in somebody's mummy.
- 4:11Speaker 11: Want some music for your ears? Doo-Wop Shop makes it
- 4:14Speaker 11: easy to rent for any event, business meeting, or special occasion.
- 4:17Speaker 11: From PA systems to karaoke machines to just about anything
- 4:20Speaker 11: that makes noise, you can rent it from the Doo-Wop Shop.

- 4:59Speaker 4: Kwan as the incredible and invincible Dr.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Su.
- 5:02Speaker 4: She specializes in most unusual medical experiments. It is possible
- 5:07Speaker 4: for me to transplant any part of the human body.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Any part? Any part. It never lets up.
- 5:45Speaker 4: The wonder women beautiful luscious mysterious dolls trained by the
- 5:50Speaker 4: sinister dragon lady to do as they were told they
- 5:52Speaker 4: were killers a sisterhood of death but they were also
- 5:56Speaker 4: women you never know what they'll come up with next
- 5:59Speaker 4: maybe a kiss in the dark maybe a knife in
- 6:02Speaker 4: the back one man thought he could stop them but
- 6:05Speaker 4: they took him apart piece by.
- 6:07Speaker 8: Piece Hey, Miss, do you have your earbuds strapped in?
- 6:13Speaker 12: I do not.
- 6:14Speaker 8: Well, that's probably because you didn't go to tweakedaudio.com and
- 6:18Speaker 8: get your tweaked audio earbuds because they're awesome.
- 6:21Speaker 12: I don't like things in my ears.
- 6:24Speaker 9: You're the worst pitch person ever.
- 6:25Speaker 3: I am.
- 6:27Speaker 9: I have mine. They're awesome. They're the wood ones.
- 6:29Speaker 12: They're deluxe.
- 6:30Speaker 9: Look at this shit.
- 6:31Speaker 3: That's hardwood.
- 6:31Speaker 8: That's pretty fancy.
- 6:32Speaker 12: I guess if I were to shove any implement in
- 6:34Speaker 12: my ear, it would be those.
- 6:36Speaker 8: We don't recommend you shove anything else in your ear.
- 6:38Speaker 8: That's kind of why we were hooked up with Tweaked Audio.
- 6:40Speaker 8: It's the only thing we recommend you shove in your
- 6:42Speaker 8: ear for medical purposes, really. If you damage your eardrum,
- 6:46Speaker 8: you're doing it wrong, and we take no responsibility.
- 6:48Speaker 12: Stop when you hit pressure.
- 6:50Speaker 8: You should only use Tweaked Audio, and when you do,
- 6:53Speaker 8: you go to their website, you go to pay for it,

- 6:59Speaker 9: Free shipping immediately.
- 7:00Speaker 12: Is it better than 5% discount?
- 7:01Speaker 8: Not that 5% discount that you were looking at in
- 7:03Speaker 8: that catalog.
- 7:04Speaker 12: The discount you will be getting for tweaked audio will
- 7:06Speaker 12: be a hell of a lot better than the 5%.
- 7:07Speaker 12: It's a third off. You get a third off.
- 7:10Speaker 8: Holy shit.
- 7:10Speaker 12: If I had math, that would be awesome.
- 7:13Speaker 9: And free shipping.
- 7:14Speaker 12: Fuckin' A. You can't beat that.
- 7:16Speaker 9: And they're super fast.
- 7:16Speaker 12: Not with a stick.
- 7:17Speaker 8: I just went and got me some more, and it
- 7:19Speaker 8: was like a day, and they were there. They were
- 7:21Speaker 8: like lightning fast. Like the lightning on that girl's boobs
- 7:23Speaker 8: over there. Lightning move fast.
- 7:25Speaker 9: Lightning move fast. Lightning move fast.
- 7:27Speaker 8: You're welcome, Tweaked Audio. You can put that on your envelopes.

- 7:39Speaker 12: They're not going to like me promoting their item, are they?
- 7:42Speaker 8: Actually, they have a pretty good sense of humor. Tweaked
- 7:44Speaker 8: Audio is kind of awesome.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Just go to tweakedaudio.com.

- 7:54Speaker 3: Sounds better. That's part of your problem, you know. You
- 8:01Speaker 3: haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered
- 8:05Speaker 3: in the movies. And now, on with the show.
- 8:35Speaker 7: The mama said, come repeat the sound.
- 9:06Speaker 8: So the other thing I came here specifically to do
- 9:09Speaker 8: was talk to Sid Haig. And just sort of round
- 9:12Speaker 8: out this ongoing, not so real relationship.
- 9:17Speaker 9: But in a press sense.
- 9:19Speaker 8: He was actually, when I first started doing print interviews,
- 9:22Speaker 8: he was one of the first ones I was like, okay,
- 9:24Speaker 8: I need to talk to him.
- 9:26Speaker 9: It's like just looking back.
- 9:27Speaker 8: Well, at the time, he broke a few years before
- 9:31Speaker 8: that back end with all the Rob Zombie stuff. And
- 9:34Speaker 8: I think maybe they'd already done Devil's Rejects. But either way,
- 9:37Speaker 8: it's like he just sort of found this new wave
- 9:40Speaker 8: of popularity. But then I remember going back and just
- 9:43Speaker 8: looking at that backlog of stuff that he'd done and
- 9:45Speaker 8: just being amazed by these hundreds of TV appearances and
- 9:51Speaker 8: all these really cool B-movies and exploitation movies that are
- 9:55Speaker 8: totally forgotten about by like, the real world.
- 9:58Speaker 9: But, like, the movie geeks still, like, find this.
- 10:01Speaker 8: And it's, like, it's just this list of them that are, like,
- 10:04Speaker 8: some of the biggest and most ridiculous, crazy, like, B-movies you.
- 10:08Speaker 12: Could ever want.
- 10:09Speaker 8: And he's, like, in so many of them. So it's, like,
- 10:11Speaker 8: just that kind of career.
- 10:13Speaker 9: It's, like, that's cool. And I want to find out
- 10:15Speaker 9: more about this guy.
- 10:17Speaker 8: So I actually like years ago set up a print
- 10:21Speaker 8: interview and I haven't done anything with it on the show.
- 10:25Speaker 8: And I've been kind of waiting to sort of just
- 10:28Speaker 8: have another piece to sort of cap it off because
- 10:30Speaker 8: it's not really long. And as I throw it in here,
- 10:34Speaker 8: it's the sound is not going to be great because
- 10:36Speaker 8: this is years and years ago.
- 10:39Speaker 9: This is quite a while back.
- 10:41Speaker 8: And this was I'll go with recorders. This is three
- 10:45Speaker 8: recorders ago. since I've upgraded many times over the years
- 10:50Speaker 8: and every step of the way, winging it sound-wise, which
- 10:52Speaker 8: I'm sure anybody that listens to the show knows.
- 10:55Speaker 9: It's only in the last couple.
- 10:56Speaker 8: Of years do I feel like we have pieced together
- 10:58Speaker 8: a good way to do these things. It's, yeah, it's
- 11:01Speaker 8: such a nightmare switching from one location to the next.
- 11:04Speaker 8: So it's been a learning process and this is the
- 11:07Speaker 8: early stages. So you'll hear it as we get into this.
- 11:10Speaker 8: But I did want to include it somewhere along the way.
- 11:12Speaker 8: I've been kind of like, I need to get that
- 11:14Speaker 8: in there because it's really... interesting because I start off
- 11:18Speaker 8: like way at the beginning even then like I do
- 11:20Speaker 8: now with people I'm just like let's start you know
- 11:22Speaker 8: really early and figure out how you get to your
- 11:24Speaker 8: level of stardom or whatever career path you've chosen and
- 11:29Speaker 8: his is not where I expected it to start and
- 11:33Speaker 8: yeah it was kind of interesting listening to him talk
- 11:35Speaker 8: about those early days so yeah I guess we'll go
- 11:38Speaker 8: ahead and throw in this early clip of him and
- 11:41Speaker 8: then we'll come back and I'll round it out with
- 11:43Speaker 8: a little bit that.
- 11:44Speaker 9: We did today.
- 11:55Speaker 7: A lot of people don't realize how you started off
- 11:59Speaker 7: in music.
- 12:00Speaker 3: You kind of started that way professionally.
- 12:02Speaker 7: How did you get into that?
- 12:09Speaker 10: When I was like nine years old, I just showed
- 12:12Speaker 10: an interest in music. I started a little elementary.
- 12:17Speaker 3: School band, and I did that thing. My parents kind
- 12:23Speaker 3: of got tired.
- 12:23Speaker 10: Of me beating up all the pots and pans and everything,
- 12:25Speaker 10: so they had a friend who was an old drummer
- 12:29Speaker 10: that was looking to get rid of his trap set.
- 12:34Speaker 3: And so they bought that. It just kind of evolved.
- 12:39Speaker 10: So it was all the way through my school years,
- 12:44Speaker 10: through high school and everything else that.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I was involved in.
- 12:48Speaker 10: Playing in the orchestra, playing in the marching band, playing
- 12:51Speaker 10: in the museum.
- 12:52Speaker 3: I was playing every opportunity I had.
- 12:57Speaker 10: And formed a band when I was in high school.
- 13:01Speaker 10: And like a year after that, graduation that signed to
- 13:10Speaker 10: a contract for Keen Records, Sam Cooke's label.
- 13:14Speaker 3: And things kind of took off from there.
- 13:17Speaker 10: Crooked Managers, Crooked Record Company, Crooked Man with a Crooked
- 13:24Speaker 10: Stick with a Crooked Dog, And I just said.
- 13:27Speaker 3: You know, what the hell with this? Music. Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 7: Did you guys try to find a recording contractor?
- 13:34Speaker 3: They just heard you out there. They heard, yeah, they
- 13:36Speaker 3: heard us.
- 13:38Speaker 10: A friend of my father's had a recording studio. And
- 13:45Speaker 10: he listened to us. And he said, you know, you
- 13:48Speaker 10: guys want to practice in the studio.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 13:54Speaker 10: And gave me the key to the studio, so that
- 13:57Speaker 10: was kind of cool. And then he heard us one
- 14:00Speaker 10: night and decided to cut a demo, did that, and
- 14:07Speaker 10: then he basically sold the contract to Keen. Then you
- 14:13Speaker 10: enrolled in Pasadena Playhouse. What was that experience like?
- 14:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:18Speaker 10: A friend of mine and I were standing outside my
- 14:22Speaker 10: parents' house trying to figure out what we were going
- 14:24Speaker 10: to do with our miserable lives, and he suggested that
- 14:27Speaker 10: I go to the Pasadena Playhouse.
- 14:29Speaker 3: I had no idea what it was, so I checked
- 14:32Speaker 3: it out. I said, oh yeah, this sounds like the
- 14:34Speaker 3: kind of place for me. So I did that, and.
- 14:38Speaker 10: It was two years of doctor's help, okay? Because the
- 14:45Speaker 10: first class in the morning was like 7.30 and you
- 14:48Speaker 10: never got home to do any of your homework or
- 14:52Speaker 10: anything else until about 11.30 that night. And that went
- 14:57Speaker 10: on for two years, okay? Yeah, it was pretty hardcore.
- 15:03Speaker 10: But it gave you the discipline.
- 15:06Speaker 3: That you need to be in this business.
- 15:08Speaker 10: There were no little stars on your doors or anything
- 15:14Speaker 10: like that, okay? You were just a grunt, being a can. Yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 10: he was.
- 15:23Speaker 7: I guess for a very good reason, because you were
- 15:24Speaker 7: definitely a busy, working actor for many years.
- 15:28Speaker 13: Did you enjoy that life as just being a working actor? Yeah,
- 15:32Speaker 13: that's what I wanted to be, you know, a working actor.
- 15:35Speaker 13: I had no stars in my eyes, still don't. I
- 15:40Speaker 13: knew that there was no glamour, there were no limousines
- 15:43Speaker 13: or bright lights, you know. That was just a show
- 15:47Speaker 13: that happened every once in a while.
- 15:48Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 3: So my goal was to just become a working man
- 15:52Speaker 3: when I was.
- 15:53Speaker 10: Absolutely. And I worked myself out of business.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Okay.
- 15:59Speaker 3: I had to restart my career like four times. Yeah.
- 16:01Speaker 10: Because I was just working too much and people got
- 16:04Speaker 10: tired of looking at me.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Well, studios got tired of looking at me. Yeah.
- 16:09Speaker 10: Okay.
- 16:09Speaker 3: So many of them.
- 16:09Speaker 10: So.
- 16:11Speaker 3: But now things are different.
- 16:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 16:13Speaker 3: Now I call the shots. Definitely.
- 16:15Speaker 7: Well, that was, yeah, what I was wondering was the
- 16:18Speaker 7: way you always used to get cast. I mean, being
- 16:20Speaker 7: an intelligent man and being a well-trained actor, how you
- 16:23Speaker 7: felt about continuing to get cast as a thug over
- 16:25Speaker 7: the years.
- 16:26Speaker 3: It got real tiring. Yeah. Okay. And so at one point,
- 16:31Speaker 3: I think it was in 92? Yeah. I just said,
- 16:34Speaker 3: you know what? If these guys.
- 16:35Speaker 10: Can't figure out that I can do more than stick
- 16:38Speaker 10: a gun in somebody's face, I'm.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Out of here. So I left.
- 16:43Speaker 10: And I got a call from Quentin Tarantino one day.
- 16:48Speaker 10: Still don't know how he got my number. And said,
- 16:53Speaker 10: I know all about, you don't want to do heavy, blah, blah, blah,
- 16:56Speaker 10: all that stuff. I've written a part for you in
- 16:58Speaker 10: Jackie Brown. He's the judge. Totally different. and you will
- 17:05Speaker 10: do it okay and that was cool it was a
- 17:12Speaker 10: good feeling to know that somebody could figure out that
- 17:17Speaker 10: I could do more than what I was doing And then,
- 17:21Speaker 10: of course, House of a Thousand Corpses came by and
- 17:23Speaker 10: that was, now we're.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Looking at history.
- 17:28Speaker 7: At that point, what did you think of Captain Spalding
- 17:31Speaker 7: the first time you read that novel?
- 17:33Speaker 3: Well, the way that I got.
- 17:34Speaker 10: It was that my agent Gave me a call and said,
- 17:38Speaker 10: go to this office building, sign a letter of non-disclosure,
- 17:42Speaker 10: take the script home, read it, if you like it,
- 17:45Speaker 10: the part is yours. So I did that, and I said, oh, geez,
- 17:49Speaker 10: I could have a lot of fun with this. So
- 17:51Speaker 10: I said, yeah, let's do it. And then, after, it
- 17:56Speaker 10: was like the day after the premiere, I got a
- 18:01Speaker 10: call from Robb.
- 18:03Speaker 3: He said, I don't have a lot of time to talk.
- 18:05Speaker 10: I got a reporter from Variety on the line.
- 18:08Speaker 3: If there's a sequel, will you do it? And I said, yes.
- 18:11Speaker 3: He said, okay, I'll talk to you later. Bye.
- 18:14Speaker 7: As you were reading it, or at least kind of
- 18:16Speaker 7: getting familiar with the character, did you realize how much
- 18:19Speaker 7: impact it would have on your career at the moment?
- 18:21Speaker 3: No, I just thought it would be something I wanted
- 18:23Speaker 3: to do.
- 18:26Speaker 7: Hector Spalding has a very interesting manner of speaking and
- 18:30Speaker 7: a lot of interesting terminology and just the way that
- 18:34Speaker 7: he speaks is it something that you came up with
- 18:36Speaker 7: or was it Rob or how did his mannerisms kind
- 18:39Speaker 7: of come into play?
- 18:40Speaker 3: Rob gave the character a great skeleton yeah okay.
- 18:44Speaker 10: And years of hanging out in biker bars and redneck
- 18:50Speaker 10: bars and all of that stuff um And being a
- 18:56Speaker 10: farm boy, okay, I was able to bring that culture
- 19:02Speaker 10: into the character.
- 19:04Speaker 7: Yeah, it's sometimes frightening to a lot of people when
- 19:08Speaker 7: they're out there.
- 19:09Speaker 3: They have no idea.
- 19:10Speaker 7: They're not trying to do that.
- 19:11Speaker 3: They just are.
- 19:12Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Like the ship that they're flying that now haunts you.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Where did that come from? That just came out of
- 19:21Speaker 3: my head.
- 19:21Speaker 10: It was something that I had probably heard a lot.
- 19:27Speaker 3: And there it was.
- 19:30Speaker 10: And now, it was like maybe two or three months
- 19:34Speaker 10: after the film was released, I got an email from
- 19:36Speaker 10: a guy who said that that.
- 19:39Speaker 3: Phrase had become.
- 19:41Speaker 10: the official phrase of the college that he was going to. Okay.
- 19:46Speaker 3: It says a lot about that. Yeah, right.
- 19:51Speaker 7: Before the House of the Thousand Quirks came out, what
- 19:57Speaker 7: were your feelings on clowns?
- 20:00Speaker 3: You know, I never got the whole clown phobia thing,
- 20:03Speaker 3: you know.
- 20:04Speaker 10: Clowns were funny. They were funny, they were stupid, they were,
- 20:07Speaker 10: you know, whatever. But to me, they were never scary.
- 20:12Speaker 10: Has it changed since you've become well-known.
- 20:15Speaker 3: In the maker?
- 20:16Speaker 7: Your feelings towards it anyway?
- 20:18Speaker 3: Uh, geez, I love them, you know? Yeah.
- 20:22Speaker 10: Yeah, they're keeping beans on my plate.
- 20:28Speaker 3: So it's, you know, it's all good. It's Jesus, you know?
- 20:31Speaker 10: And, you know, nobody can predict this kind of stuff. And,
- 20:37Speaker 10: I mean, when they told us that we were going
- 20:40Speaker 10: to have action figures, I went, what? These guys are
- 20:45Speaker 10: despicable people. We're going to have action figures?
- 20:49Speaker 3: Yeah, okay. And to date, I think I.
- 20:52Speaker 10: Have ten different models. Okay, and now there's some guy in...
- 20:59Speaker 10: In the UK, that's done a Captain Spalding bust.
- 21:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 21:05Speaker 3: They're selling it here at this convention. It's amazing. It's
- 21:09Speaker 3: the sign of the time. Yeah, yeah. But, you know,
- 21:13Speaker 3: I think the thing that is appealing to the character
- 21:19Speaker 3: is that he's fearless.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I know.
- 21:21Speaker 10: He doesn't take any shit from anybody, okay? You stick
- 21:25Speaker 10: a gun in his face, he'll stick a chicken leg
- 21:27Speaker 10: in yours, okay? And then wind up killing you, you know?
- 21:33Speaker 10: And I think, you know, people get pushed around a
- 21:38Speaker 10: lot in our society. And so they can really identify.
- 21:45Speaker 3: With somebody who refuses to get pushed around.
- 22:07Speaker 8: But yeah, I didn't know about the music aspect at
- 22:09Speaker 8: all until I started going into that.
- 22:11Speaker 9: And I think that's something that even a lot.
- 22:13Speaker 8: Of people that are fans of his movies probably have
- 22:15Speaker 8: no idea that he started off in music and was
- 22:19Speaker 8: such a well-trained actor in the early days when he
- 22:22Speaker 8: gets reduced to so many thug roles. So yeah, I
- 22:25Speaker 8: thought that was really interesting. But it's still just sort
- 22:28Speaker 8: of like it was relatively short and didn't have.
- 22:32Speaker 9: sort of an end.
- 22:33Speaker 8: So these years I've been trying to get back to,
- 22:36Speaker 8: I wanted to talk to him about Spider Baby specifically.
- 22:40Speaker 8: So this is a heads up for all of you guys.
- 22:42Speaker 8: We're going to do a Spider Baby episode. So just
- 22:45Speaker 8: find yourself a copy now. We've got, I got some
- 22:48Speaker 8: stories from him today about Spider Baby. So we're definitely
- 22:50Speaker 8: going to come back to those. But I also just
- 22:52Speaker 8: wanted to sort of cap off his whole thing. So
- 22:56Speaker 8: we're going to go to that now. And it's sort
- 22:58Speaker 8: of more of a a wrap up on his career
- 23:01Speaker 8: and like just his life.
- 23:02Speaker 9: In general and his advice for others. You've been doing
- 23:13Speaker 9: this for quite a while now, uh, midway.
- 23:15Speaker 8: I mean, you've, I know I've heard you tell the
- 23:17Speaker 8: stories of your ups and downs professionally over the years,
- 23:20Speaker 8: midway in, would you have chosen something different, you know,
- 23:23Speaker 8: midway in on the rough times where you like, I
- 23:25Speaker 8: should have gotten become a carpenter or something, but. I
- 23:28Speaker 8: don't know, what is your take on the long haul
- 23:30Speaker 8: of being a performer?
- 23:32Speaker 2: Well, the thing is I had a passion for it, okay?
- 23:35Speaker 2: Was I happy with the kind of work that I
- 23:37Speaker 2: was being offered?
- 23:38Speaker 3: No.
- 23:40Speaker 2: But I was being offered work, and it's something that
- 23:44Speaker 2: I love to do. And my message to everybody, and
- 23:48Speaker 2: I don't care if it's in show business or selling
- 23:52Speaker 2: cars or whatever, if you have a passion for it,
- 23:56Speaker 2: then you can't quit. You just have to keep going.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Keep your head high, keep moving forward, and eventually it'll
- 24:05Speaker 2: all come together.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Very cool.
- 24:07Speaker 8: Do you have anything to pass along that you're working
- 24:09Speaker 8: on to let people know about?
- 24:11Speaker 2: I have got a film, hopefully going to be released
- 24:15Speaker 2: fairly soon, called High on the Hog. And I'm really
- 24:21Speaker 2: kind of excited about that because it was my first
- 24:25Speaker 2: production job. working on the film and the crew was
- 24:31Speaker 2: very energetic and wanted to really do a good job
- 24:36Speaker 2: but they were a little hazy on what the job
- 24:38Speaker 2: was so I went to the executive producer and I
- 24:41Speaker 2: said you know you need a producer in here that
- 24:43Speaker 2: can with some organizational skills that can tell these people
- 24:47Speaker 2: what it is that they need to know and so
- 24:50Speaker 2: he said well will you do it and I said
- 24:52Speaker 2: well you got my agent's number and the next day
- 24:54Speaker 2: I was a producer Very nice.
- 24:56Speaker 8: So still moving into new territory as you go on.
- 24:59Speaker 2: Got to keep stretching, man. You got to keep growing.
- 25:03Speaker 9: So next you'll be directing.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yes.
- 25:05Speaker 2: And I've done that. Only a whole lot of commercials
- 25:09Speaker 2: and some documentaries.
- 25:11Speaker 3: But yeah.
- 25:13Speaker 6: All right.
- 25:13Speaker 9: Well, thanks for talking to us today.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Hi, this is Dick Miller, and you're listening to Movie Meltdown.
- 25:29Speaker 6: The girls of the big dollhouse are busting out again.
- 25:33Speaker 6: New World Pictures now brings you The Big Birdcage, an
- 25:38Speaker 6: incredible new adventure of beautiful young girls in chains. to
- 25:43Speaker 6: every whim and desire of a cruel madman.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Oh, please, take somebody else this time.
- 25:48Speaker 6: See the terrible machine that maims tender young bodies and
- 25:52Speaker 6: cripples innocent young minds. See the strange and brutal world
- 25:57Speaker 6: of men who are only half men and women who
- 26:00Speaker 6: are more than all women.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Captive women, their.
- 26:06Speaker 6: Natural desires stifled to the bursting point, finally erupting in
- 26:11Speaker 6: a scorching climax of violence.
- 26:14Speaker 3: So hot with desire.
- 26:16Speaker 6: They melt the chains that bind them in The Big Birdcage.
- 26:22Speaker 3: See The Big Birdcage in color rated R.
- 26:30Speaker 8: So I do want to say thank you once again
- 26:31Speaker 8: to Sid for sitting down with me, not just this week,
- 26:34Speaker 8: but the first time around there as well. He's a
- 26:37Speaker 8: fascinating guy. Go out there and support him.
- 26:39Speaker 9: See his movies.
- 26:40Speaker 8: You heard the projects he's got in the works now,
- 26:42Speaker 8: so go check those out. If you see him at
- 26:44Speaker 8: a convention, go out there. He's well worth the money.
- 26:47Speaker 8: I was actually surprised how little he was charging for
- 26:50Speaker 8: the awesome movies he's in and the body of work
- 26:53Speaker 8: that he has built over the years.
- 26:56Speaker 9: To me, he was not charging that much.
- 26:57Speaker 8: So my advice to you is go get him to
- 27:00Speaker 8: sign a post or get a picture from him. He's
- 27:03Speaker 8: a really cool guy and it was great to get
- 27:05Speaker 8: a chance to talk to him and you should go
- 27:06Speaker 8: talk to him too.
- 27:07Speaker 9: So find out where he's going to be this next year.
- 27:09Speaker 8: I'm sure he'll make several convention stops and go out
- 27:11Speaker 8: there and see him and tell him you heard him
- 27:12Speaker 8: on Movie Meltdown. It'd be good if this made its
- 27:14Speaker 8: way back to people sometimes that they actually... knew that
- 27:17Speaker 8: we were getting the word out to people. So definitely
- 27:19Speaker 8: go find Sid out there in the world and support
- 27:21Speaker 8: all that he does. And continue to support Movie Meltdown.
- 27:24Speaker 8: We are working on many new projects, and we don't
- 27:26Speaker 8: hear from you guys near as much as we used to,
- 27:29Speaker 8: so it'd be great if you like the new format
- 27:32Speaker 8: we're testing out here, or you've got some ideas of
- 27:34Speaker 8: stuff you'd like us to do or want us to cover.
- 27:37Speaker 8: Go ahead, send us an email. If you go to
- 27:39Speaker 8: the website, there's a contact section. Send us the email.
- 27:42Speaker 8: Add that Brian Meltdown character on Facebook. He's always on
- 27:45Speaker 8: there posting the latest episodes. So you can contact through
- 27:48Speaker 8: there as well. But yeah, just spread the word. Put
- 27:51Speaker 8: the word out when the new episodes come out. Repost them.
- 27:53Speaker 8: Send them to your friends. Get them out there in
- 27:55Speaker 8: the world. Because there's no point in recording all this
- 27:57Speaker 8: stuff if it's not making it out there to people.
- 27:59Speaker 8: So we count on you guys to help us spread
- 28:02Speaker 8: the word and pass the episode links along to people.
- 28:04Speaker 8: So please help us do that. And otherwise, just thanks
- 28:08Speaker 8: for supporting us all these years. And we will continue...
- 28:10Speaker 8: to bring you more episodes in the future. So I
- 28:13Speaker 8: thought we would go out this episode, the only way
- 28:16Speaker 8: we really can go out this episode, and it took
- 28:18Speaker 8: a little digging to find, this is not the easiest
- 28:21Speaker 8: single to come across these days, but I did find
- 28:24Speaker 8: a version of the 1958 song Full House performed by
- 28:27Speaker 8: the T-Birds with Sid Haig on drums. So we'll close
- 28:31Speaker 8: things out with the T-Birds featuring Sid Haig.
- 28:34Speaker 9: Otherwise, that about does it. We will return next time,
- 28:36Speaker 9: same geek feed.
- 28:37Speaker 8: Thanks for listening.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Come on! Come on! Thank you.
- 30:31Speaker 5: Don't let the door hit you in the ass on
- 30:46Speaker 5: the way out.
- 30:46Speaker 11: This episode is a production of Movie Meltdown, produced and
- 30:49Speaker 11: edited by The Oddity Studios, with opening music performed by
- 30:52Speaker 11: The Empires. For more on how to sponsor or support
- 30:55Speaker 11: the show, email producer at moviemeltdown.com.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Talk hard!
