- 0:00Speaker 1: Game now let's kind of dig a little bit deeper
- 0:02Speaker 1: and jump on the offensive side i'm gonna speak specifically
- 0:05Speaker 1: on the offensive side of what i saw in my
- 0:07Speaker 1: thoughts from what we saw in the offense and again
- 0:11Speaker 1: make sure you guys hit that like button and subscribe
- 0:13Speaker 1: to the channel if you're just not joining on the
- 0:15Speaker 1: twitter version or youtube version again hit that like subscribe

- 0:21Speaker 1: sorry if you're joining from twitter venture over to youtube
- 0:24Speaker 1: and hit that like and subscribe and get ready for
- 0:26Speaker 1: the calling portion of the show If you have anything
- 0:29Speaker 1: you want to discuss, you know, get your takes off,
- 0:30Speaker 1: whatever it may be. So from the offensive standpoint, I'm
- 0:36Speaker 1: going to talk about overall team play. From what I saw,
- 0:39Speaker 1: I didn't go into some individual performances. We had 419
- 0:44Speaker 1: total yards, 217 on the ground, which I really liked.
- 0:49Speaker 1: 202 yards passing offense. For the most part, I really
- 0:52Speaker 1: couldn't get out of their own way. Didn't have a
- 0:56Speaker 1: defense that gave them the ball back at the high
- 0:58Speaker 1: clip as well either.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Drive stalled by dumb mistakes.
- 1:02Speaker 1: I do like that Mike never really panicked from a
- 1:05Speaker 1: play calling standpoint and started throwing the kitchen sink at
- 1:08Speaker 1: New Mexico State. Play calling was pretty generic. Nothing was
- 1:11Speaker 1: really creative. It was more so just beat the guy
- 1:14Speaker 1: in front of you and that's where we lacked at.
- 1:17Speaker 1: We really weren't beating the guys in front of us.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Execution was lacking tremendously. Just wasn't clean football overall. From
- 1:27Speaker 1: a quarterback standpoint, I thought Ashton had an okay day.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Nothing crazy, nothing too great, nothing too low. He was
- 1:34Speaker 1: 17 for 27, 202 yards, one interception, one passing, touchdown,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and he had 30 yards rushing and a touchdown as well.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I would have liked him to run a little bit
- 1:47Speaker 1: more in certain situations, but we'll get to that pretty soon.
- 1:50Speaker 1: On that pick that he threw, it was a rollout
- 1:53Speaker 1: play to the left the defense was flowing heavily that
- 1:55Speaker 1: way and it was getting real late in the play
- 1:58Speaker 1: right so when it gets real late within the play
- 2:00Speaker 1: you're giving the time for the defense to catch up
- 2:03Speaker 1: and you know running full speed to get that momentum
- 2:05Speaker 1: going to get you back into the play he threw
- 2:08Speaker 1: across his body against the momentum and again it was
- 2:11Speaker 1: an interception me personally I would like him to use
- 2:13Speaker 1: his legs there and get positive yards I think it
- 2:16Speaker 1: was like second down I don't quote me up if
- 2:18Speaker 1: I'm wrong I think it was like second down if
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken didn't need to make a break play.
- 2:23Speaker 1: And that goes back to my point previously in talking
- 2:26Speaker 1: about Ashton. We don't need you to be Superman out there, right?
- 2:28Speaker 1: Take what the defense gives you. Don't be, you don't
- 2:31Speaker 1: have to be the world leader. In that situation, just,
- 2:35Speaker 1: in that situation, just throw, so I just, you know,
- 2:39Speaker 1: use your legs and pick up some positive yards and
- 2:41Speaker 1: go to the next play. Offensive line did not do
- 2:43Speaker 1: a great job protecting him. I know on paper we
- 2:46Speaker 1: only have one sack, but that was more so Ashton
- 2:49Speaker 1: evading pressure.
- 2:50Speaker 2: He had a few misses downfield.
- 2:52Speaker 1: As well and that was due to pressure in his
- 2:54Speaker 1: face and sometimes just clear out misses. But it was
- 2:58Speaker 1: one place specifically I stood out that was down the
- 3:00Speaker 1: field to Desirio Rouse. He was wide open on the
- 3:03Speaker 1: seam route. It was a walk-in touchdown in my opinion,
- 3:06Speaker 1: but he just didn't see him at all. It was
- 3:08Speaker 1: a deep ball to Deuce Robinson that was called for
- 3:12Speaker 1: pass interference. It was a double move by Deuce, he
- 3:14Speaker 1: ended up cooking the DB, but that ball should have
- 3:16Speaker 1: been placed in the corner of the end zone.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Instead, Ashton threw.
- 3:20Speaker 1: It inside, which caused the two of those to collide
- 3:24Speaker 1: with Deuce, trying to locate the ball and get to
- 3:27Speaker 1: that spot, causing a pass interference. So that's a first
- 3:31Speaker 1: down and 15 yards. Yeah, that's cool, but we go
- 3:33Speaker 1: from 15 yards to a 35, 40-yard touchdown play.
- 3:36Speaker 2: We're off the field. His best play, in my opinion,
- 3:43Speaker 2: was a throw to Boggs.
- 3:48Speaker 1: I thought it was a touchdown inside the stadium, but again,
- 3:53Speaker 1: we didn't really get all of the angles that you
- 3:55Speaker 1: guys probably saw on TV, but he pump faked. Then
- 3:58Speaker 1: he hit Boggs a stride over the middle, and Boggs
- 4:00Speaker 1: made a nice run after the catch, a little spin move,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and Dove made a diving attempt at the end zone,
- 4:06Speaker 1: but it was called just short. He had a nice
- 4:08Speaker 1: throw to Makai Danzy down the field early in the game.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Real nice seam route.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Do want to see more of Deuce and Danzy in
- 4:17Speaker 1: the pass game. Two little touches in my opinion. Really
- 4:20Speaker 1: didn't like how Danzy was used in certain situations. But
- 4:24Speaker 1: with how the backs played, I get it. And of course,
- 4:26Speaker 1: Deuce specifically, you come back to get fed the ball, right?
- 4:29Speaker 1: That's what you come back for. And of course, to
- 4:30Speaker 1: win games and leave your mark at FSU. But from
- 4:33Speaker 1: a draft standpoint, you want to go off this year.
- 4:35Speaker 1: So I think he should get anywhere between 10 to
- 4:38Speaker 1: 12 to 15 attempts per game, just throwing it to him. Now,
- 4:42Speaker 1: of course, the completions this time, third is a different situation,
- 4:45Speaker 1: but I think 10 to 12 for sure, maybe 15,
- 4:49Speaker 1: depending on the game, maybe more to come in the
- 4:52Speaker 1: goddamn game, but you know, you want to get the
- 4:54Speaker 1: ball to Deuce Robson. He's your best receiver. He's a
- 4:56Speaker 1: matchup nightmare. He's your best player overall on his team.
- 5:02Speaker 1: But maybe if things were, I do think if Mike
- 5:05Speaker 1: would open things up more, And being more specific in
- 5:08Speaker 1: the game plan, we would have gotten Deuce involved more,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you know, matchup, some things like that, move him around,
- 5:15Speaker 1: try to create certain matchup situations if we're in a
- 5:18Speaker 1: certain game to where that was warranted. I think we
- 5:20Speaker 1: would have probably sent him a different output. But again,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think he had three catches, 50 yards. Makai had
- 5:24Speaker 1: like four catches, 50 yards. I want to see more
- 5:27Speaker 1: of that. But again, those running backs, they look real good.
- 5:30Speaker 1: And I love what I saw from the running backs overall.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Love what we have in promo, Sam Singleton and Wiseman,
- 5:39Speaker 1: three-headed monsters. I know you guys, to speak on Wiseman specifically,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I know you guys pretty much kind of panicked on
- 5:46Speaker 1: him not practicing and that type of deal.
- 5:49Speaker 2: You know, we see the tweets, how we can get
- 5:51Speaker 2: outrageous and.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Get an inch and take a mile, so to speak, and,
- 5:56Speaker 1: you know, felt like he bought a limit on Wiseman.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I mean, it wasn't that deep, to say the least,
- 6:01Speaker 1: from his injury standpoint. If we're actually in midseason and
- 6:04Speaker 1: he had to play something on those lines, he could
- 6:07Speaker 1: have played. It was more so a precautionary situation. And
- 6:10Speaker 1: you see the output in the game that we saw, right,
- 6:14Speaker 1: on Saturday. He looked pretty damn good. Real good twitch.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Really nice vision. Nice wiggle. He brings a different element
- 6:22Speaker 1: to the running back room. He's a dynamic player with
- 6:25Speaker 1: the ball in his hands that can pretty much take
- 6:26Speaker 1: a short game and can turn into a big game.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It may be even a touchdown.
- 6:32Speaker 1: So again, first game of the season, he's going to
- 6:35Speaker 1: be fine. The longer, the more we get into the season,
- 6:39Speaker 1: that type of deal, we'll probably see more of Trey
- 6:41Speaker 1: as he's starting to get back into playing speed and
- 6:44Speaker 1: that type of shape as a result of missing portions
- 6:48Speaker 1: of camp.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Froma, I mean, what can I say, right? He is
- 6:53Speaker 2: who we thought he was. The kid is elite.
- 6:55Speaker 1: He's Just going to get better and better as time,
- 7:00Speaker 1: you know, more carries and more touches, more experience. Going
- 7:04Speaker 1: to be one of the better running backs in the country,
- 7:05Speaker 1: one of the better running backs in the ACC. Should
- 7:07Speaker 1: have a big year. Love what we saw out of him.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Sam Singleton as well, man. Just keeps getting better and better.
- 7:15Speaker 1: I mean, better and better. Really like what I saw
- 7:17Speaker 1: out of Sam from a running standpoint and as a
- 7:21Speaker 1: pass catcher in the screen game. He's gotten so much better.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Still no wiggle in the open field. Once he gets,
- 7:28Speaker 1: you know, in the open field on the second level,
- 7:30Speaker 1: it's kind of like, it looks kind of confusing to
- 7:33Speaker 1: him a little bit as far as what to do
- 7:34Speaker 1: in the open field. But nonetheless, he hits the hole,
- 7:38Speaker 1: celebrates with vision as well to see it.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Shot to.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Kalen LeBron, you know, he had a wide open hole
- 7:45Speaker 1: and he hit that bit. That's pretty much what Sam
- 7:48Speaker 1: Singleton does. He sees a wide open hole and he
- 7:50Speaker 1: hits it. So I think we have a really good three-header.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I saw a wide-ass open hole and I didn't hit
- 7:54Speaker 2: that bit.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Shout out to Mark, man. MarkAP32, Super Chat, overall offensive analyst.
- 8:02Speaker 1: O-line is trash. I was saving that for last, man. But,
- 8:07Speaker 1: you know, definitely. It did look good from the O-line standpoint,
- 8:11Speaker 1: for sure. That was my biggest takeaway as well, too. So,
- 8:16Speaker 1: with that being said, I'll venture into the O-line. I
- 8:20Speaker 1: was not excited with what I saw from the O-line.
- 8:23Speaker 1: The lack of push up front. The lack of pass
- 8:26Speaker 1: protection against New Mexico State was not inspiring for me
- 8:29Speaker 1: moving forward at all.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I mean, let's keep it real.
- 8:32Speaker 1: This is like the second worst defensive line you'll see
- 8:35Speaker 1: this year. That's no disrespect to them. They are solid
- 8:38Speaker 1: within their, you know, what's Google for? G4 now within
- 8:43Speaker 1: their conference. I think they'll be pretty good coming into
- 8:46Speaker 1: this game. If you guys listen to my previous interview
- 8:50Speaker 1: on Dough Talk, leading into the New Mexico State game,
- 8:55Speaker 1: their coaching staff, this is what they were most excited about, right?
- 8:58Speaker 1: The front seven, the defense line and linebackers, they were
- 9:01Speaker 1: pretty excited, they excited, excuse me, with what they had
- 9:04Speaker 1: returning within those guys. But at the same damn time,
- 9:07Speaker 1: we're FSU, right? It's not comparable. Supposed to be a
- 9:11Speaker 1: premier program in the country. There's no way in hell
- 9:13Speaker 1: we should be in a dogfight in the trenches against
- 9:17Speaker 1: a team like New Mexico State. We got SMU next week.
- 9:22Speaker 1: You have Bama, you have Louisville, you have Clemson, you
- 9:24Speaker 1: have Miami, you have Florida. I mean, those teams are
- 9:27Speaker 1: going to have a lot better offensive lines. And 14 specifically,
- 9:31Speaker 1: 14 specifically, the four most important games on the schedule.
- 9:34Speaker 2: And I guess you throw out about five teams, you
- 9:36Speaker 2: could say.
- 9:40Speaker 1: No, 14 specifically, the four most important games on the schedule.
- 9:44Speaker 2: And that's Bama, Clemson, Miami, and Florida.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Their defensive lines are in a different class than what,
- 9:52Speaker 1: you know, the SMU, Louisville, and this, that, and third.
- 9:54Speaker 1: And we're not even talking about, you know, in comparison
- 9:56Speaker 1: to who we played yesterday in New Mexico State.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Those are the biggest.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Games on the schedule. You have to win one of
- 10:03Speaker 1: those games, in my opinion. One of those four, you
- 10:05Speaker 1: have to win from a job safety standpoint, but that's
- 10:10Speaker 1: a different conversation. Numbers look okay if you look at
- 10:16Speaker 1: it from a Box score, watch standpoint, ran for over
- 10:19Speaker 1: 200 yards, over five yards per carry, didn't start in
- 10:22Speaker 1: the third. But if you actually saw, you knew why
- 10:24Speaker 1: was that, right? Backs made elite plays. We see a
- 10:27Speaker 1: long run from Cromwell. Trey Wiseman making some nice plays
- 10:31Speaker 1: to get downfield. Sam as well. If you look at
- 10:34Speaker 1: the majority of the runs, most were met with contact
- 10:37Speaker 1: within the first few yards, and that's just not acceptable.
- 10:40Speaker 2: One sack on paper, which is good, right?
- 10:42Speaker 1: But Ashton avoided a lot of sacks by scrambling and
- 10:44Speaker 1: throwing the ball away and things like that.
- 10:46Speaker 2: So Again, if you actually look at the game.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Tape itself, that was the most glaring part of the
- 10:54Speaker 1: offense is the offensive line. And I think just some
- 10:57Speaker 1: stall drives in certain situations. But, yeah, we have to–
- 11:00Speaker 1: I don't know if we can get that fixed.
- 11:02Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Well, I'll take it back. I think certain things can
- 11:05Speaker 1: be fixed, especially when you break down the film and
- 11:06Speaker 1: just end third. Your biggest jump is typically from game
- 11:09Speaker 1: one to game two. But from what we saw yesterday,
- 11:13Speaker 1: last night, it was not aspiring football, especially within the
- 11:16Speaker 1: trenches there.
- 11:17Speaker 2: On the offensive side. All right, that's our offense.
