- 0:00Speaker 1: John the may are very good morning to you.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Now what's going wrong though? Is this a big promise
- 0:05Speaker 1: count deliver? Because they kind of deal with the Greens,
- 0:07Speaker 1: they couldn't get it through the Senate so it was
- 0:08Speaker 1: a numbers problem on vaping basically, yes, well it.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Was described as a world first law, but there is
- 0:14Speaker 2: a lot of anger after the government did water down
- 0:16Speaker 2: its vaping ban to win the support of the Greens.
- 0:19Speaker 2: So vapes will now be able to be sold over
- 0:22Speaker 2: the counter, but in pharmacies only from next week, and
- 0:26Speaker 2: that is because the Greens agreed to pass this proposed ban.
- 0:30Speaker 2: There's a bit of a deal obviously. So these water
- 0:33Speaker 2: down restrictions have drawn the eye of a pharmacist because
- 0:38Speaker 2: they thought it would be prescription only, so people no
- 0:41Speaker 2: longer need a GP according to this new law to
- 0:46Speaker 2: buy vapes, and pharmacists say no, it should have really
- 0:49Speaker 2: been with prescription only. Some restrictions still apply though, apparently,
- 0:55Speaker 2: so there's the vapes are going well. The Yeah, the
- 0:58Speaker 2: vapes will be subject to playing packaging and there's no
- 1:01Speaker 2: more strawberry flavors or fruity flavors and so forth. It's
- 1:05Speaker 2: going to be limited to mint menthol and tobacco. We've
- 1:08Speaker 2: heard from the Health Minister saying it will return vapes
- 1:11Speaker 2: to their original purpose, which was a therapeutic product to
- 1:15Speaker 2: help hardened smokers kick the habit.
- 1:18Speaker 1: That happens, then we got the new governor General, the
- 1:20Speaker 1: incoming governor general. So where did this big pay rise
- 1:23Speaker 1: come from? Because it's quite substantial, isn't it oh to be.
- 1:27Speaker 2: The governor general in a way, So the Albanize the
- 1:29Speaker 2: government wants to pass a new bill that would leave
- 1:32Speaker 2: the Governor General's salary by wait for it, forty three percent.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Now that is a hefty pay rise. So we do
- 1:39Speaker 2: have a new governor General coming next week, Sam Moston,
- 1:43Speaker 2: So apparently about an extra chihundred fourteen grand to earn
- 1:46Speaker 2: a seven hundred and nine thousand dollars. Now we know
- 1:50Speaker 2: that in the past, say, for instance, Governor General David Hurling,
- 1:54Speaker 2: who's the outgoing GG. Well he's the former chief of
- 1:57Speaker 2: Defense Force, so he got a military pension on top
- 2:00Speaker 2: of the salary, which is about four hundred grands. So
- 2:02Speaker 2: the government says the change is to ensure that this
- 2:05Speaker 2: salary remains appropriate for the duration of the terms. So
- 2:08Speaker 2: Sam Mostron will get this amount of money for five
- 2:11Speaker 2: years running.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Good luck to wear Yep, good on Donna, catch up
- 2:15Speaker 1: next week. Appreciate it very much. Donald to Mayo out
