- 2:34Speaker 2: on the show before. You know his story. His teenage
- 2:37Speaker 2: son Bryce tragically took his own life in a sex
- 2:40Speaker 2: stortion situation. Adam now tries to warn other parents and
- 2:44Speaker 2: others about sex stortion. In fact, yesterday he spoke with
- 2:47Speaker 2: a group of teachers and other educators and an event
- 2:50Speaker 2: here in Charleston. Adam joins us this morning on the
- 2:52Speaker 2: Guarantee Bank Hotline. Adam, good morning, welcome to the show.
- 2:55Speaker 6: Hey, how you doing sir? Thanks for having me.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Thank you for being here. By now, I think everyone
- 2:59Speaker 2: knows the story of your late sun Bries, but if
- 3:02Speaker 2: you would again just take take us through that day again.
- 3:07Speaker 6: Yeah. So, uh, first and foremost, I can't speak highly
- 3:10Speaker 6: enough about my son. He was a tremendous person inside
- 3:13Speaker 6: and out. Everyone that had pleasure of knowing him would
- 3:15Speaker 6: echo that same testament about him. So I just wanted
- 3:19Speaker 6: to get that out there. He's an amazing kid. But
- 3:21Speaker 6: it was just a normal day. He went to the gym,
- 3:24Speaker 6: he came home, played some basketball. There was no red
- 3:28Speaker 6: flags about what was going on. And we found out
- 3:34Speaker 6: after you know that that tragedy on November the sixth.
- 3:36Speaker 6: It took twelve days, but the FBI reached out to us.
- 3:40Speaker 6: They they performed a forensics audit on his telephone and
- 3:44Speaker 6: they found that he was a victim of sextortion. And
- 3:47Speaker 6: we didn't know what that was, naturally, we had never
- 3:50Speaker 6: heard that term before. But once they told us that
- 3:54Speaker 6: and we went public with it, I noticed a common
- 3:58Speaker 6: theme that no one knew it toortion was become kind
- 4:02Speaker 6: of came our mission to spread that awareness, and we
- 4:06Speaker 6: started the Rice State Memorial Foundation, and that's our sole
- 4:09Speaker 6: purpose is to spread sextortion awareness to help protect kids
- 4:13Speaker 6: and their families.
- 4:14Speaker 2: What does the case stand now? Did they ever Adam
- 4:18Speaker 2: or they able ever to to to trace like where
- 4:22Speaker 2: it where it came from? Because from what I understand
- 4:24Speaker 2: talking to you before, this was the situation where your
- 4:26Speaker 2: son thought he was chatting I think with a with
- 4:30Speaker 2: a with a teenage girl, uh and uh, and that
- 4:33Speaker 2: that was what he was led to believe. And then
- 4:35Speaker 2: the person machine or whatever was on the other end
- 4:40Speaker 2: basically threatened him with pictures and things of that nature.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Where does it stand.
- 4:45Speaker 6: Now, Yeah, So what happened was it was a person
- 4:48Speaker 6: that was claiming to be a seventeen year old girl
- 4:50Speaker 6: that contacted him, and they knew enough about him to
- 4:53Speaker 6: make that conversation believable. They knew who played basketball at Nitro,
- 4:58Speaker 6: they knew he lifted weights, Slain's nautilust, they knew some
- 5:01Speaker 6: of his best friend's names, and so they made it believable.
- 5:04Speaker 6: And then they shared images and asked for him to
- 5:06Speaker 6: return those images, and then that's when the expectation started.
- 5:10Speaker 6: But it's still an active investigation with the FBI. They
- 5:13Speaker 6: do know the country of origin, however, they don't want
- 5:15Speaker 6: that release to the ARBET, but it is out. It
- 5:18Speaker 6: is outside of the country, but it's an active investigation
- 5:21Speaker 6: with the FBI, and they're saying it sounds promising. So
- 5:23Speaker 6: I'm very hopeful that we can get some justice in
- 5:26Speaker 6: the near future.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Oh absolutely. And now, as you said, you tell his
- 5:29Speaker 2: story pretty much to anyone that'll listen, other parents, grandparents,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and I know you spoke yesterday to some educators. You're
- 5:38Speaker 2: out there telling the story of what happened to your
- 5:41Speaker 2: son and how it could easily and how easily it happens.
- 5:44Speaker 6: Oh exactly. Yeah, this this took the matter of three
- 5:46Speaker 6: hours for my son, and I just want people to
- 5:49Speaker 6: realize how fast this does happen. So you know, with
- 5:52Speaker 6: Bryce it was three hours. We know of other cases
- 5:55Speaker 6: where it was an hour, one was twenty minutes. So
- 5:57Speaker 6: people need to understand this isn't something that happened over
- 6:00Speaker 6: the course of days or weeks. It happens in hours,
- 6:03Speaker 6: and it's very real. Like since this happened November the sixth,
- 6:07Speaker 6: just locally Knall County, in Counties, I've had forty families
- 6:11Speaker 6: reach out to either myself or my wife, thanking us
- 6:14Speaker 6: for going public because since then, their kids have been targeted,
- 6:18Speaker 6: but since they had conversations with their kids, the outcomes
- 6:21Speaker 6: were much different, thankfully, So I can see in real
- 6:24Speaker 6: time the benefit of spreading the awerkness, and that's why
- 6:28Speaker 6: I feel obligated any opportunity that I can get out
- 6:32Speaker 6: and try to spread that awareness. I'm taking every opportunity
- 6:35Speaker 6: because I see in real time the difference the awareness makes.
- 6:40Speaker 2: And you did a presentation I think, in front of
- 6:44Speaker 2: some educators yesterday talk about that.
- 6:47Speaker 6: Yeah, yes, sir, so we've been in contact with the
- 6:50Speaker 6: Board of Education and we've got some other events scheduled
- 6:53Speaker 6: with them in the future. But yeah, I just wanted
- 6:56Speaker 6: to take that opportunity because it's very important because it
- 6:59Speaker 6: takes a community to protect our kids because you know,
- 7:02Speaker 6: parents can't stay up on all the different dangers. It's
- 7:05Speaker 6: ever evolving, so you know, right now stortion is really big.
- 7:08Speaker 6: I mean, if you look at the statistics year every year,
- 7:11Speaker 6: it's only increasing at like an alarming rate. So you know,
- 7:15Speaker 6: parents can't stay up on everything in every crime that's
- 7:19Speaker 6: targetting our children, and neither can't teacher. So it truly
- 7:22Speaker 6: takes a whole community. And I felt like, what better
- 7:25Speaker 6: way to try to spread this awareness. If I can
- 7:29Speaker 6: get a group full of teachers together, you know, let
- 7:31Speaker 6: them know what it is. At that way, whenever we're
- 7:33Speaker 6: going into the next school year, they can kind of
- 7:35Speaker 6: talk to their kids about this and helpect them.
- 7:39Speaker 2: And I think you're to be applauded for what you
- 7:41Speaker 2: have done in talking with other parents and the number
- 7:43Speaker 2: of parents and grandparents that you have said that have
- 7:46Speaker 2: come forward based on you telling your story. But the educators,
- 7:49Speaker 2: I mean, let's face it, you know, kids spend more
- 7:52Speaker 2: time in school than during the school year than what
- 7:56Speaker 2: they do at home. I mean, awa awake hours anyway,
- 7:59Speaker 2: I should say. So, you know, these educators, whether it's
- 8:02Speaker 2: a teacher or a coach or whatever the case may be,
- 8:05Speaker 2: they have in many cases just as much, if not more,
- 8:08Speaker 2: influence on a kid's life than what their parents do.
- 8:12Speaker 6: Right, And no matter what avenue they get this information from,
- 8:16Speaker 6: the biggest thing is they have to be able to
- 8:18Speaker 6: identify this threat. Like I've seen that. Like, if they're
- 8:21Speaker 6: in this moment and they're unaware of what sextortion is,
- 8:25Speaker 6: it's extremely overwhelming, you know, so, but if they can
- 8:28Speaker 6: identify it, I've truly seen this in real time. If
- 8:32Speaker 6: they had the conversation and they know what sextortion is
- 8:35Speaker 6: and they can identify it, it's much easier for them
- 8:38Speaker 6: to navigate themselves out of it. So that's not to
- 8:41Speaker 6: say that it's still not traumatizing and extremely scary. I mean,
- 8:44Speaker 6: I've seen it firsthand. I've talked to people, I've talked
- 8:47Speaker 6: to children. Here. Just last month, I talked to a
- 8:49Speaker 6: kid for forty five minutes. He was in the process
- 8:51Speaker 6: of being sextorted. He knew what it was, but it
- 8:54Speaker 6: was extremely terrifying for him still in that moment. So
- 8:58Speaker 6: but that's why I'm just taking all these opportunities everywhere
- 9:02Speaker 6: I go. I've got flyers, information cards, bracelets. I hand
- 9:06Speaker 6: them out everywhere I go, just because you never know
- 9:09Speaker 6: when that information is going to reach the right hands.
- 9:11Speaker 6: It can potentially save someone's life.
- 9:13Speaker 2: What do those conversations look like that you have, And
- 9:16Speaker 2: I guess it depends on the situation. But if you
- 9:18Speaker 2: sit down and you talk to that young man, or
- 9:20Speaker 2: if you're sitting down one on one and talking with parents,
- 9:22Speaker 2: what what what do the conversations look like?
- 9:27Speaker 6: Well, typically what I have to do is or what
- 9:29Speaker 6: I do is I reassure them that they did nothing wrong.
- 9:32Speaker 6: You know, naturally, the first thing for prevention is you
- 9:36Speaker 6: want kids to say, hey, don't send those images. But
- 9:40Speaker 6: at the same time you have to be realistic to
- 9:42Speaker 6: understand they are kids. You know, people make mistakes. They
- 9:45Speaker 6: are kids, and that's exactly why these criminals target this
- 9:48Speaker 6: age group, because they know hormones are raging and it's
- 9:51Speaker 6: a high likelihood that they can get those images. You know,
- 9:54Speaker 6: so you have to reiterate them that they are the victim,
- 9:58Speaker 6: they did nothing wrong here. You know, you can have
- 10:00Speaker 6: those conversations down road, explain to them why it's important
- 10:03Speaker 6: not to send those images, but in that moment, it's
- 10:05Speaker 6: not the time to.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Ridicate, right, Yeah, yeah, it's already done at that point.
- 10:08Speaker 6: Yeah, exactly. So at that point, you know, I'm just
- 10:11Speaker 6: trying to reassure them that they're the victim, they did
- 10:13Speaker 6: nothing wrong a lot of times. But they come back
- 10:16Speaker 6: on constantly is well what if these images get out?
- 10:18Speaker 6: What if these images get out? So that reassurance and
- 10:21Speaker 6: I tell them, you know, there's a number of things there.
- 10:24Speaker 6: You know, Number one of the FBI in the Sheriff's
- 10:26Speaker 6: department has tools to be able to scrub those images
- 10:28Speaker 6: off the internet, so it gives them a little bit
- 10:30Speaker 6: of peace of mind. Number Two, if anyone else has
- 10:33Speaker 6: access to those images, they are liable because they're holding
- 10:38Speaker 6: child pornography, you know, so they can be be in
- 10:41Speaker 6: a lot of trouble too for just possessing those images.
- 10:43Speaker 6: So I just try to reiterate to them that they
- 10:45Speaker 6: did nothing wrong and try to calm their nerves down,
- 10:48Speaker 6: and you know, reiterate to them that they are the victim.
- 10:53Speaker 2: What does the conversation look like with a parent that
- 10:55Speaker 2: hasn't had this happen to their family. I mean, somebody
- 10:58Speaker 2: when you talk to Pa Andy, They've not been a
- 11:01Speaker 2: victim of this, But just as a preventative tool, what
- 11:04Speaker 2: do those conversations look like at them?
- 11:07Speaker 6: Well, I just I just try to urge all parents
- 11:09Speaker 6: to have that conversation because unfortunately I did not get
- 11:12Speaker 6: to have this conversation with my son, and I can
- 11:14Speaker 6: see firsthand the benefit of the conversation. You know, if
- 11:18Speaker 6: you can have that talk with your kid, you're equipping
- 11:20Speaker 6: them with the defense mechanism to be able to navigate
- 11:22Speaker 6: themselves out of it. So, you know, I wish that
- 11:25Speaker 6: I had that opportunity to tell Bryce about what this was,
- 11:29Speaker 6: and so you know, I just urge every parent, you know,
- 11:32Speaker 6: like so many people fall into this state of mind
- 11:35Speaker 6: where it's like, oh, that's tragic that happened to that
- 11:38Speaker 6: family down the road, you know, and I'll pray for them,
- 11:41Speaker 6: so on and so forth, but they don't believe that
- 11:43Speaker 6: it will happen to their family. And I was one
- 11:45Speaker 6: of those people that believed that way, Like you hear
- 11:47Speaker 6: all these tragic things in the back of our minds.
- 11:50Speaker 6: You know, we're such a tight family, and my son
- 11:53Speaker 6: and I had such an amazing relationships, like, oh, he
- 11:55Speaker 6: would definitely reach out to me. You know, there's no
- 11:57Speaker 6: way that something like this would happen, you know, and
- 11:59Speaker 6: we're all in my well, I'd say most of us
- 12:01Speaker 6: are naive to think that way. But I'm telling you
- 12:04Speaker 6: right now, it can't happen to your family. So if
- 12:07Speaker 6: it can happen to mine, it can happen to yours.
- 12:08Speaker 6: And that's not a scare tactic. That's just a fact.
- 12:11Speaker 6: So just have the conversation. Yeah, you know, it's a
- 12:15Speaker 6: somewhat difficult conversation, but trust me, I wish that I
- 12:18Speaker 6: could have had it with my son.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Brace talk before we let you go, Adam, talk about
- 12:22Speaker 2: the foundation that you started and what you're hoping to
- 12:24Speaker 2: accomplish here.
- 12:25Speaker 6: Yeah, So what we're doing is it's the Firstate Memorial Foundation.
- 12:29Speaker 6: We've got a website if anyone wants to look at
- 12:31Speaker 6: it's Justice for Bryce dot com. And the biggest thing
- 12:34Speaker 6: we're doing is just naturally trying to spread awareness. We
- 12:37Speaker 6: are partnered throughout the United States. We've got some people
- 12:41Speaker 6: in Washington, Oregon, Texas, Wisconsin, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida. So
- 12:46Speaker 6: what I do is I partner with them and I
- 12:49Speaker 6: send them thousands of flyers and information cards and bracelets
- 12:52Speaker 6: that way they can have conversations within their own communities.
- 12:56Speaker 6: And I do the same here, just try to spread
- 12:59Speaker 6: awareness any way that I can, if that's through social
- 13:01Speaker 6: media platforms, if that's through flyers and information cards. And
- 13:05Speaker 6: then we're also partner with Pray and Play West Virginia,
- 13:08Speaker 6: who's a nonprofit in the state as well, and they're
- 13:11Speaker 6: they're putting the one two memorial basketball tournaments and Bryce's
- 13:16Speaker 6: memory and that's a great way to get the community together.
- 13:19Speaker 6: And we also have like you know, information there. We've
- 13:22Speaker 6: got some other groups that are there to help with
- 13:25Speaker 6: like mental health with kids, and you know, other areas
- 13:28Speaker 6: of concern that kids might come across throughout the school year.
- 13:31Speaker 6: But we've actually got a tournament coming up September the
- 13:34Speaker 6: twelfth and the thirteenth at Nitro. It's gonna be a
- 13:38Speaker 6: three on three outdoor tournament. So we're pretty excited about that.
- 13:41Speaker 6: But the biggest thing is we're just trying to spread awareness.
- 13:44Speaker 2: And I know I had you on last year. I
- 13:46Speaker 2: think to talk about that tournament, so remind me and
- 13:48Speaker 2: we'll have you on again as the tournament gets a
- 13:50Speaker 2: little bit closer. I appreciate Adam. Thanks a lot you,
- 13:53Speaker 2: Sir Adam tates Man. What a story. I mean, every
- 13:57Speaker 2: time I hear you know that story, and this is
- 14:00Speaker 2: second or third time I've interviewed Adam, it's it's just
- 14:02Speaker 2: such a it's such a tragedy. And I guess to me,
- 14:04Speaker 2: and again I'm an no parent, I'll say that, but
- 14:07Speaker 2: that it all happened in a course of about three hours.
- 14:10Speaker 2: This was not like an on from what his dad
- 14:13Speaker 2: says that it is an ongoing investigation, This was not
- 14:16Speaker 2: something that went on over several months. This literally happened
- 14:20Speaker 2: in about a three hour timeframe that this young man
- 14:24Speaker 2: Bryce was messaged or somehow, I don't know how. They
- 14:29Speaker 2: was someone that he thought was a seventeen year old girl.
- 14:33Speaker 2: It turns out it was someone in another country. Images
- 14:36Speaker 2: were exchanged and then they come back and say, if
- 14:38Speaker 2: you don't get me this money, we're going to make
- 14:40Speaker 2: those images public. And again, as Adam said, the FBI
- 14:44Speaker 2: has been involved for sometimes. This happened in November of
- 14:46Speaker 2: last year. It's still an ongoing investigation. They have said
- 14:50Speaker 2: that it did not happen in America, but they don't
- 14:54Speaker 2: want to reveal the country that it did happen. I
- 14:55Speaker 2: think bottom line is and I think this is good
- 14:58Speaker 2: information for all of us. And look, I'm a user
- 15:01Speaker 2: of social media and I don'm not sure what platform
- 15:04Speaker 2: they used or whatever, but when you're on social media,
- 15:09Speaker 2: about eighty percent of the people that are on there
- 15:12Speaker 2: on nationals are not real people. So just keep that
- 15:16Speaker 2: in mind. It's nine to twenty two, but Aave Island

- 15:37Speaker 7: According to Feeding America, over seven million seniors nationwide where
- 15:41Speaker 7: food insecure in twenty twenty two. West Virginia is no different. Hi,
- 15:46Speaker 7: I'm Jason, President and CEO of Union Mission Ministries. For
- 15:49Speaker 7: one hundred and thirteen years, Union Mission has focused on
- 15:52Speaker 7: helping people in need. Right now, our senior citizens need
- 15:56Speaker 7: our help. That is why Union Mission is partnering with
- 15:58Speaker 7: local senior living facility to get food delivered directly to
- 16:01Speaker 7: those in need. Will you help us reach more seniors?

- 16:07Speaker 4: You may think speeding a little isn't really speeding, but
- 16:10Speaker 4: even a few miles over the limit has consequences. First,
- 16:14Speaker 4: there's the fine. Your first offense could cost you one
- 16:17Speaker 4: hundred dollars plus court costs, and you'll pay a lot
- 16:20Speaker 4: more if it's your second or third offense. Eventually you
- 16:22Speaker 4: can lose your license or even go to jail, and
- 16:25Speaker 4: those are minor consequences. Speeding causes ten thousand deaths each year,
- 16:30Speaker 4: So next time you think a few miles over isn't

- 17:53Speaker 2: but but I met him at different broadcasting events and
- 17:56Speaker 2: things like that.
- 17:56Speaker 8: That nature that was the first guy like I really
- 18:00Speaker 8: not recognized in the Hall of Fame, but I really
- 18:02Speaker 8: like cried because he deserved it.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Man, and and and you are one.
- 18:07Speaker 8: Of those people that you know, we've been knowing each
- 18:10Speaker 8: other even before you worked here. We've been knowing each
- 18:12Speaker 8: other a long time. And you deserve every part of.
- 18:15Speaker 3: This thing that they giving you.
- 18:17Speaker 2: My man, I really do.
- 18:19Speaker 8: I'm kidding, don't know you could talk that talk like yo,
- 18:22Speaker 8: like I want to thank me, but you deserve it.
- 18:27Speaker 2: It was it's an honor to go in there. And
- 18:30Speaker 2: you know, and when when I and I think about
- 18:32Speaker 2: the people in this company and other companies that have
- 18:35Speaker 2: gone there, people that have passed to think, no, wait
- 18:37Speaker 2: a minute, I mean every day I pull on this
- 18:39Speaker 2: parking lot, would row. I mean every day I'm like
- 18:41Speaker 2: quit a minute. I work with Fred Persinger, Are you
- 18:43Speaker 2: kidding me? I don't want to go I work with
- 18:45Speaker 2: I'm in the same building with with with Jeff Jenkins.
- 18:48Speaker 2: It's still I've been here six years and it still
- 18:50Speaker 2: takes me a little bit of time to get used.
- 18:51Speaker 3: To that and serious.
- 18:53Speaker 8: On a real note, those probably are the two nicest
- 18:56Speaker 8: people in our building. They can be arrogant if they
- 18:58Speaker 8: want to. We talk about Jeff Nacs and Fred Persinger
- 19:01Speaker 8: like and they will help you. They would do anything
- 19:05Speaker 8: that you need done, especially if it's if it's behind
- 19:08Speaker 8: this microphone, like to make our shows better. Shout out
- 19:11Speaker 8: to them.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Man.
- 19:12Speaker 2: All right, So let's talk about this big event it's
- 19:14Speaker 2: going down Saturday, all right, talk about it.
- 19:15Speaker 3: So what he Fest?
- 19:16Speaker 2: Man?
- 19:16Speaker 8: What he Fest is happening? Brought to you by Selango law.
- 19:19Speaker 8: I know you know Ben and uh a to z outlet.
- 19:22Speaker 8: Actually it's been in the work works about three years, man,
- 19:26Speaker 8: C four promotions. We got some uh got a promotion
- 19:29Speaker 8: team with us, uh Riggs and and Ryan's dad and
- 19:32Speaker 8: Roger and Charles Rashtt and we just weving hitters there.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Man.
- 19:37Speaker 8: Yeah, Man, I don't know how I got to sit
- 19:38Speaker 8: at the table over there with so Hols they called
- 19:40Speaker 8: they call that the owner's table.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I get to sit at the owner's table for
- 19:44Speaker 3: so hold But.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Ran didn't even get it set at the understable.
- 19:46Speaker 8: Ryan, I'm pulling you up, brother, talk that talk Ryan.
- 19:52Speaker 8: But then we're gonna have a good time.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Brother.
- 19:54Speaker 8: It's gonna happen Saturday. Gates open up at three o'clock.
- 19:57Speaker 8: And the way we did this, we did it kind
- 19:58Speaker 8: of eras music are. It's like Yin Yang Twins is
- 20:01Speaker 8: more of the forty five to fifty year olds walk
- 20:04Speaker 8: a flock. I just got off off eight with Hanna
- 20:07Speaker 8: Kline and she's that she said she loves him, So
- 20:11Speaker 8: that's kind of that era. And Dub Baby it might
- 20:14Speaker 8: be the biggest hip hop artist out right now.
- 20:16Speaker 6: Man.
- 20:16Speaker 3: We got lucky with him to have him in Charleston
- 20:18Speaker 3: this Saturday, and.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Uh, you got I mean, just so many other folks
- 20:22Speaker 2: there too.
- 20:23Speaker 3: You got it. I hate to call him local.
- 20:26Speaker 8: You got great artists like we got Pantry Band, Like
- 20:29Speaker 8: he's a country guy. We got White Mike, he's actually
- 20:32Speaker 8: a firefighter that does hip hop music. You got Lisa
- 20:35Speaker 8: Lee hosting it. It's just a beautiful thing.
- 20:38Speaker 9: Man.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Why why did you want to do this? I mean
- 20:41Speaker 2: there's a lot of we don't we in this business
- 20:43Speaker 2: don't have a lot of time, you know, in a weekend,
- 20:46Speaker 2: if you you know, we kind of we kind of
- 20:48Speaker 2: cherish his weekends that if you get a rare one
- 20:50Speaker 2: that you don't have something to do. This is a
- 20:52Speaker 2: lot of work, man. I have put on concerts in
- 20:54Speaker 2: the past, never anything like this. I've done like one
- 20:57Speaker 2: night concerts. I've never done anything plus outdoors. And they
- 21:01Speaker 2: why did you want to do this?
- 21:02Speaker 8: I think I've been on a radio on this market
- 21:05Speaker 8: for twenty seven years and I really didn't have And
- 21:08Speaker 8: it's not about me. The Roger them made me name
- 21:10Speaker 8: it Woody Fest, but it really wasn't nothing that I
- 21:13Speaker 8: can leave to my kids and say, if this thing
- 21:16Speaker 8: is up, we're not just doing it one year, We're
- 21:17Speaker 8: gonna continue to do it and they can say, my
- 21:19Speaker 8: daddy started this and it's the first one. And I
- 21:22Speaker 8: also wanted the outlet for artists like Knie Knie Incognito
- 21:28Speaker 8: or Cold Code that they can get on a big
- 21:29Speaker 8: stage with these major artists.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Also, there's something really cool about that. And I'm not
- 21:35Speaker 2: a musician, but I have been around plenty that when
- 21:39Speaker 2: you know you have a quote unquote local act or
- 21:41Speaker 2: an up and coming act, it gets to rub shoulders
- 21:44Speaker 2: backstage at the catering table or whatever with one of
- 21:47Speaker 2: these major stars. I mean, it's kind of like what
- 21:49Speaker 2: we talked about earlier. You know, you think I've arrived. Yeah, yeah, right, yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 2: I'm in the same conversation with them.
- 21:55Speaker 8: We had an artist meeting yesterday and the artist came
- 21:58Speaker 8: and we just we just we fellowship, We learned off
- 22:02Speaker 8: each other.
- 22:02Speaker 3: We talked about how the show is gonna run.
- 22:05Speaker 8: And there's one thing that I want to leave a
- 22:08Speaker 8: market in this market that we love our musicians. We
- 22:13Speaker 8: love them, man, and this is a stage where they
- 22:15Speaker 8: can get in front of five thousand people.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Brother.
- 22:17Speaker 2: I mean, and again, it's gonna be the Shawnee Sports Complex,
- 22:20Speaker 2: but it's not. I saw somebody posted on face might
- 22:23Speaker 2: have been Lisha or somebody posted on Facebook and said,
- 22:25Speaker 2: this is not a concert. I mean, there's music there,
- 22:28Speaker 2: but this is an event. This is a festival because
- 22:31Speaker 2: there's a lot of other things going on. You got
- 22:32Speaker 2: food trucks coming in, you got stuff for kids. Yeah,
- 22:36Speaker 2: and more importantly, this is something that is in a
- 22:40Speaker 2: safe environment. Everything's going to go off with out a hitch,
- 22:42Speaker 2: I'm sure. So that's shout out to the Kanall County Sheriffs.
- 22:45Speaker 2: This is gonna be about thirty of them. They're also
- 22:47Speaker 2: security team, our security top notch man. I got a
- 22:51Speaker 2: security partner named Chad Davis, and it just top notch.
- 22:53Speaker 2: And we're just gonna have like Lisa said, it's more
- 22:56Speaker 2: than a concert, man, and it's the first one. Yeah.
- 23:00Speaker 8: She and big shout out to Commission of Silango. If
- 23:03Speaker 8: this go well, and I think it will, they're gonna
- 23:05Speaker 8: do more stuff there. It's not just gonna be the
- 23:07Speaker 8: soccer fields or the football fields or the baseball games.
- 23:10Speaker 8: Now we're gonna have an outside music venue that we
- 23:12Speaker 8: can and.
- 23:13Speaker 2: You have all different types of music. Oh yeah, yeah, man, Yeah,
- 23:15Speaker 2: I mean there's no reason why you couldn't have, you know.
- 23:17Speaker 2: And I'm a big believer, and I love when you
- 23:19Speaker 2: have these mashes of people that kind of come together.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Like you said, you got pantry there, you also got
- 23:24Speaker 2: hip hop. So of the biggest artists in the game there.
- 23:26Speaker 2: But I mean I would like nothing better than to,
- 23:29Speaker 2: you know, let's do a gospel let's do let's do
- 23:32Speaker 2: a country one, Let's do a southern rock one. Let's
- 23:35Speaker 2: just do it all.
- 23:35Speaker 8: I might be talking too much, but Mike Jeruse, the
- 23:38Speaker 8: owner of the Oler Tree, he said, then when it's over,
- 23:41Speaker 8: we're gonna work on some jazz stuff. So we might
- 23:43Speaker 8: have a jazz you know. Yeah, so it might be
- 23:46Speaker 8: something like that. And it's just we we got that well,
- 23:49Speaker 8: they got that land out there once one they build
- 23:53Speaker 8: built that thing up.
- 23:54Speaker 3: It's beautiful.
- 23:55Speaker 8: I don't know if you've been in there lately, man,
- 23:56Speaker 8: it's a beautiful facility that they did with Shawnee. I
- 24:00Speaker 8: think it brought back a lot of economic money to
- 24:05Speaker 8: the to that area. Hotels, full places, the pitches right there.
- 24:09Speaker 8: Jeru's got the Olive Tree Express in there. There's just
- 24:12Speaker 8: so much stuff we can do, and the commissioners are
- 24:15Speaker 8: are with it. They want to do stuff there.
- 24:17Speaker 2: All right, Let's if you get the line up in
- 24:19Speaker 2: front of you there so we can kind of go
- 24:20Speaker 2: down the lineup for people. Let me see if while
- 24:23Speaker 2: you do that, I will say this so Dave Alan
- 24:25Speaker 2: Show on five. Any line is brought to you in
- 24:26Speaker 2: part by Pinnacle Consultants. Help me to identify environmental concerns
- 24:29Speaker 2: like as best as led Mold indoor quality issues and
- 24:32Speaker 2: buildings all across the state provided inspections, testing and a
- 24:35Speaker 2: credit to lab services you could trust. Check out Pinnacle
- 24:38Speaker 2: Corp dot net helping you understand your environment because what
- 24:40Speaker 2: you don't know can hurt you.
- 24:42Speaker 3: Dave, how do I get a commercial on your show?
- 24:45Speaker 1: Right?
- 24:45Speaker 8: People love you, people love the Day Valley.
- 24:49Speaker 2: But they land show brought to you apart by what
- 24:52Speaker 2: doy for Breakfast Today had raising brand and uh, now, man,
- 24:57Speaker 2: you've always got something going on. I mean you're always
- 24:59Speaker 2: with her. This is the biggest thing you've ever done.
- 25:02Speaker 2: But I mean you're always go He's got some sort
- 25:04Speaker 2: of an event going on and whatever. So just I
- 25:07Speaker 2: mean we're literally in the same building.
- 25:08Speaker 3: No doubt.
- 25:09Speaker 8: I love you, brother, and thanks for having that open
- 25:11Speaker 8: door policy for me. Man, if you want the lineup,
- 25:13Speaker 8: Gate's gonna open up at three. DJ Lauren Trill, she's
- 25:17Speaker 8: a female DJ. She's gonna kick it off. Then Steven
- 25:19Speaker 8: Thomas is an R and B guy, He's gonna go
- 25:22Speaker 8: on stage at three thirty. Then you got Ni Nie
- 25:24Speaker 8: that's a female hip hop artist. At four. Then at
- 25:27Speaker 8: four thirty you got Prince Fay at five. You got Pantry.
- 25:31Speaker 8: You know Patrick can do all kind of music. Five
- 25:34Speaker 8: forty five, you got Big TC, A young lady out
- 25:37Speaker 8: of hunting to name Coco Wall.
- 25:38Speaker 3: She's awesome.
- 25:39Speaker 8: She's gonna go on stage about six o'clock, White Mike,
- 25:42Speaker 8: right around six twenty. Then Duck City. I think we
- 25:45Speaker 8: might have duck City on the show. Here about Land,
- 25:47Speaker 8: I think you did. If not, you need to have
- 25:48Speaker 8: them on the show. Okay, Duck City, I book it.
- 25:51Speaker 8: Six forty five. Then you got the headliners. You got
- 25:53Speaker 8: Yin Yang Twins at seven thirty, Walk a Flock at
- 25:56Speaker 8: eight thirty, and The Baby at nine thirty. A really
- 26:00Speaker 8: really dumb question, nothing's done. You know this one's gonna
- 26:03Speaker 8: be done?
- 26:03Speaker 3: Okay, how dumb.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Back in the day, hip hop artists wanted to have
- 26:08Speaker 2: tough sounding names like D m C and Dmax. And
- 26:12Speaker 2: when did we kind of start going towards the baby
- 26:15Speaker 2: and bad Bunny? When when did we kind of just
- 26:17Speaker 2: change that? Now there's anything wrong with that, I'm just
- 26:19Speaker 2: saying it kind of change.
- 26:21Speaker 8: I think you had to change it because now we're
- 26:24Speaker 8: in the digital stage and with algorithms and youtubes and
- 26:28Speaker 8: and and tiktoks, if you notice, like the music was
- 26:32Speaker 8: gangster rap back then and now it's coming more into
- 26:36Speaker 8: pop hip hop. And it's okay because Spotify will pull
- 26:41Speaker 8: your record if you talk about shooting somebody. Now YouTube
- 26:44Speaker 8: don't allow guns and reaf for smoking bottles on on
- 26:48Speaker 8: the on their platform. So I think we went through
- 26:50Speaker 8: the and hip hop said, we went through the little
- 26:53Speaker 8: like little bow Wow, little Wayane, little Zane, little everybody
- 26:57Speaker 8: was little and now tell everybody like everybody little Brandy,
- 27:01Speaker 8: little man.
- 27:03Speaker 3: I said, Now we in the soft era, stright.
- 27:07Speaker 2: So it's interesting how it's how it's progressed bad money.
- 27:09Speaker 8: The baby the like we have in hip hop. We
- 27:12Speaker 8: got dub Baby and we got baby So two different artists.
- 27:16Speaker 2: And then years ago there was baby Face.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Got baby Face.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Yeah you know where he's from. Uh, No, I do
- 27:21Speaker 2: not take a wild guess you're gonna tell me Charleston.
- 27:24Speaker 3: No, I was gonna say Fort Wayne, we got a
- 27:27Speaker 3: house at Fort Wayne.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Okay, I didn't know that he was. I could talk
- 27:31Speaker 2: you and I could sit and talk music all day
- 27:33Speaker 2: especially But I think the one of the things that
- 27:35Speaker 2: interests me about about the whole hip hop genre is
- 27:40Speaker 2: it is truly a genre that is American. Most of
- 27:44Speaker 2: our stuff, you know, I mean, like blue grass country,
- 27:47Speaker 2: it came from other places. Now that's not to say
- 27:49Speaker 2: that there weren't international influences in hip hop, but it
- 27:53Speaker 2: was a it was a music that was born out
- 27:56Speaker 2: of the streets. And it was also it's relatively new.
- 28:01Speaker 2: I mean, you know, going back to mid nineteen seventy eight. Yeah, yeah,
- 28:05Speaker 2: mid to late nineteen seventy So it's got that going forward.
- 28:08Speaker 2: And it's also one of the only I'm getting really
- 28:12Speaker 2: really deep here. It's also one of those things that
- 28:18Speaker 2: it's not just a music. It is an entire culture.
- 28:21Speaker 2: It's a lifestyle. And I mean I go back, I'm
- 28:24Speaker 2: older than you. I go back to like in the
- 28:26Speaker 2: nineteen eighty eighty one when the whole urban cowboy thing
- 28:29Speaker 2: was out. Everybody was suddenly riding mechanical bulls and everybody
- 28:31Speaker 2: was wearing cowboy hats and skin tag jeans whatever.
- 28:34Speaker 3: That's kind of back now, So we had that.
- 28:36Speaker 2: But this is when you talk about hip hop, would row,
- 28:39Speaker 2: I mean, this is a this is an entire culture
- 28:41Speaker 2: that goes beyond the music.
- 28:42Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, it's a lifestyle. You got to live
- 28:44Speaker 8: it like and it's not a bad lifestyle. And people
- 28:47Speaker 8: try to put bad light on hip hop. I remember
- 28:50Speaker 8: a long time ago, man, I had a boss I
- 28:52Speaker 8: won't say his name. He's like, we could say hip hop,
- 28:55Speaker 8: and I'm like, that's what we play.
- 28:58Speaker 3: Why can't we say it?
- 29:00Speaker 8: If we're playing and we people not dumba like, we
- 29:03Speaker 8: can't say this doll poppy in Station on America now
- 29:05Speaker 8: we play hip hop music and hip hop music. It's
- 29:08Speaker 8: okay to play. It's safe. It's okay, guys, you can listen.
- 29:13Speaker 8: And here's the crazy part about it, Dave. Now I'm
- 29:15Speaker 8: getting deep. I DJ in a lot of places, not
- 29:20Speaker 8: just nightclubs. I DJ country clubs. I DJ bar Mitzvahzz.
- 29:24Speaker 8: We DJ big time weddings. I'm talking about thirty forty
- 29:28Speaker 8: fifty sixty thousand dollars weddings. When we get a five
- 29:31Speaker 8: thousand dollars tip, and guess what most of the playlists
- 29:35Speaker 8: have on it.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Hip hop, hip hop, hip hop. It's fun music, right
- 29:40Speaker 2: and it is.
- 29:41Speaker 3: You can get in a car right now and it
- 29:43Speaker 3: might be Commissioner Selango.
- 29:45Speaker 8: I've been in his car before, and I'm like, okay,
- 29:48Speaker 8: I'll see your Commissioner.
- 29:49Speaker 6: I see you.
- 29:49Speaker 8: But I mean, look just look at the events we
- 29:53Speaker 8: have at the Red carpet.
- 29:54Speaker 3: We have all type of people.
- 29:57Speaker 8: There are delegates, senators, judges, Supreme Court judges, crackhead thugs, everyone.
- 30:08Speaker 8: It's just a melting pot of the genre of music
- 30:12Speaker 8: that we have.
- 30:12Speaker 2: All right, give me all the details again, and I'm
- 30:15Speaker 2: gonna bring you back this afternoon.
- 30:17Speaker 3: You know you gotta put on my sue jacket.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Well, well, the thing about it is is when you
- 30:21Speaker 2: got a face that's that pretty, it cannot be contained
- 30:24Speaker 2: to just radio. So we'll put you on Metro News television.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I love you two o'clock hour this after And the
- 30:30Speaker 2: cool thing is you don't even have to wear pants
- 30:31Speaker 2: because nobody sees you from there.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Oh I'm not.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Wearing pants now right, don't stand up, don't stand up, No, no,
- 30:39Speaker 2: it tell us about the.
- 30:39Speaker 3: Concert that's happening. It's happening this Saturday.
- 30:41Speaker 5: Man.
- 30:42Speaker 8: We will have about a thousand tickets at the gate.
- 30:44Speaker 8: All right, If you haven't got your ticket, I will
- 30:46Speaker 8: advise you go get your ticket at Woody festwv dot com.
- 30:50Speaker 8: But if you gotta wait to Saturday, get there early.
- 30:53Speaker 8: Here's another thing. If you haven't been a shiny traffic.
- 30:56Speaker 8: Don't be kind of backed up, be patient or come early.
- 31:00Speaker 8: And here's the thing that somebody else said on Facebook,
- 31:02Speaker 8: just ride with somebody that carpool. We got about fifteen

- 39:28Speaker 2: dot Com. Things in the News the lista Middleton case
- 39:32Speaker 2: story by Daniel Woods posted this morning wv metronews dot com.
- 39:36Speaker 2: The trial for the ambulance driver charged with running over
- 39:39Speaker 2: and killing John Lucas is on hold now, according to
- 39:42Speaker 2: Daniel's reporting. Judge Dave Hardy yesterday said he could not
- 39:46Speaker 2: rule on a motion for a change of venue because
- 39:49Speaker 2: the State Supreme Court hasn't ruled yet on a totally
- 39:52Speaker 2: separate case where a change of venue was requested. So
- 39:56Speaker 2: what I read into that, and according to Daniel's story
- 39:58Speaker 2: that you can read a WV Metro News, Judge Hardy's
- 40:01Speaker 2: basically saying once a decision comes out in that case,
- 40:04Speaker 2: it will allow him to move on one way or
- 40:07Speaker 2: the other for the change of venue in this case. Now,
- 40:09Speaker 2: Alyssa Middleton, of course nineteen charged with voluntary manslaughter, aggravated
- 40:14Speaker 2: the hicular homicide, and fleeing the scene of an accident
- 40:16Speaker 2: causing death, all those felonies, that's all in the death
- 40:19Speaker 2: of John Lucas in April. And because of all the
- 40:22Speaker 2: attention that the case has gotten, not only in the
- 40:25Speaker 2: media but in the world of social media, the attorneys
- 40:27Speaker 2: for a list of Middleton are saying she simply can't
- 40:30Speaker 2: get a fair trial here in Kanan County. They also
- 40:34Speaker 2: ask for what's called a sealed venue, meaning that if
- 40:38Speaker 2: a change of venue is granted, the public wouldn't know
- 40:41Speaker 2: where the trial was moved to. Now, Judge Hardy did
- 40:44Speaker 2: rule on that, saying that even if there is a
- 40:47Speaker 2: change of venue everyone would know where it's changed too
- 40:50Speaker 2: if it is, and it will be held in open
- 40:52Speaker 2: court now. There are also still some questions about the
- 40:56Speaker 2: medical examiner's report, which they don't have back yet, So
- 41:01Speaker 2: what is next. Judge Hardy has scheduled another hearing September eleventh,
- 41:06Speaker 2: but it could come sooner if the medical examiner's report
- 41:10Speaker 2: is received before that time. And again, the story's posted
- 41:14Speaker 2: at wv metronews dot com. Also, Jack Carlson has a
- 41:18Speaker 2: story posted at the website. We told you about the
- 41:21Speaker 2: meetings that were held about the Valley North transmission line,
- 41:23Speaker 2: which could stretch from Putnam County to Frederick County, Maryland.
- 41:27Speaker 2: Valleylink had two meetings yesterday, one in Sissonville at the
- 41:30Speaker 2: middle school and one in Spencer and there are two
- 41:32Speaker 2: more of this evening, one in PoCA at the high School,
- 41:35Speaker 2: the other at the Green Center in Kenna, which is
- 41:37Speaker 2: in Jackson County. Last night's meeting in Cistonville, which Jack
- 41:41Speaker 2: attended and wrote about it at the website. Pictures too
- 41:43Speaker 2: of the map. If you want to see what the
- 41:44Speaker 2: map looks like, it's posted wv metronews dot com. This
- 41:48Speaker 2: thing would go through about twenty counties in two hundred
- 41:50Speaker 2: and sixty total miles and it would start at John
- 41:53Speaker 2: Amos and would end up in Maryland. No specific routes
- 41:58Speaker 2: are set in stone yet. There are a lot of

- 48:00Speaker 2: they like. And again I like Texas Roadhouse as much
- 48:03Speaker 2: as the next person, probably more. But I would love
- 48:07Speaker 2: for people to share the same excitement over local restaurants,
- 48:13Speaker 2: you know, the ones that are owned and operated locally
- 48:18Speaker 2: with a corporate headquarters locally, not in Texas, New York,
- 48:23Speaker 2: but actually here the tays Valley area has some wonderful restaurants,
- 48:29Speaker 2: locally owned place. It's Fireside, Fairways, Prime eleanor Barbecue Barbarinos, Sergio's, Farley's,
- 48:38Speaker 2: Taie Valley Kitchen, Hanks, Taste of Asia, m Rays, Billy Sundays,
- 48:43Speaker 2: just to name a few. And I know I left
- 48:45Speaker 2: some off, and uh, let me just state I am
- 48:49Speaker 2: not against Texas Roadhouse. It'll be great for the county
- 48:52Speaker 2: and it will employ a lot of people, and they're
- 48:55Speaker 2: one and I love their steaks. I will eat there.
- 48:58Speaker 2: I just yesterday was perusing social media and so and
- 49:04Speaker 2: look in the elected officials. I love them, you know,
- 49:06Speaker 2: Mayor Edwards and folks to Development Authority, Big economic because
- 49:09Speaker 2: it's an employe a lot of people, and I love that.
- 49:12Speaker 2: I love that employees people. Okay, so my issue is
- 49:15Speaker 2: not with that. My issue is I just wish that
- 49:18Speaker 2: And this is not this is not exclusive to Tays Valley.
- 49:21Speaker 2: If the same thing happened. How many times you pick
- 49:24Speaker 2: I've read this, here's what he said. Well, there's nowhere
- 49:26Speaker 2: to eat in Charleston, are you? Are you kidding me
- 49:29Speaker 2: that there's nowhere to eat, especially in downtown Charleston. And
- 49:33Speaker 2: this is not me hating on corporations because I'm an
- 49:36Speaker 2: ultimate capitalist next to TJ the ultimate capitalist in the world. Uh,
- 49:41Speaker 2: And I love the fact that it's coming. I love
- 49:43Speaker 2: the fact that it is going to uh employ a
- 49:45Speaker 2: lot of people, and like I said, I'll eat there.
- 49:48Speaker 2: I just wish that we would have the same the
- 49:55Speaker 2: same excitement for local, locally owned restaurants, you know, the
- 50:00Speaker 2: ones that actually support your little league teams, the ones
- 50:04Speaker 2: that give your donations for your churches, that help out
- 50:08Speaker 2: your civic organization, that sort of thing. And if we
- 50:12Speaker 2: had that, maybe fifty percent of all local restaurants. I
- 50:18Speaker 2: did the research, fifty percent of all locally owned restaurants
- 50:22Speaker 2: go out of business in the first two to three years.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Fifty percent support Texas Roadhouse. Please do. I'm going to
- 50:29Speaker 2: hire people. I'm glad to have them there. But let's
- 50:31Speaker 2: also try to share some of that love for local
- 50:35Speaker 2: guys too. Just saying text, how dare you dog Texas Roadhouse? Meadows?
- 50:42Speaker 2: Did I dog Texas Roadhouse in any way? I don't
- 50:44Speaker 2: think you dogged it? No, he knew you were going
- 50:48Speaker 2: to get a heat though the text says they blow
- 50:50Speaker 2: the locals away. I said what I said, Well, okay,
- 50:53Speaker 2: got there and ask for a donation for something, and again,
- 50:56Speaker 2: maybe they do nonate because I know that organizations like
- 50:59Speaker 2: Kroger do give a lot back to local communities. I do,
- 51:01Speaker 2: and maybe they do as well. I'm not hating on
- 51:03Speaker 2: Texas Road Out. I'm just saying I would love to
- 51:05Speaker 2: when people have these discussions about restaurants. What we need,
- 51:08Speaker 2: is this what we need? We have support local, Please
- 51:12Speaker 2: just try it. Support locals. And in Tay's Valley I'll
- 51:17Speaker 2: put I'll put I grew up Free Will Baptists. I'll
- 51:20Speaker 2: put firesides. I'll put firesides fried chicken up against any
- 51:25Speaker 2: fried chicken I've ever had anywhere, including including the Free
- 51:29Speaker 2: Will Baptist Church. So there's that.
- 51:31Speaker 5: My favorite restaurant, TJ's Borring Grill. Nobody does a file
- 51:34Speaker 5: a like I.
- 51:35Speaker 4: Do a file a.
- 51:36Speaker 2: Look and again, I said, just something I was reading
- 51:38Speaker 2: yesterday last night. I would just say, oh, thank goodness,
- 51:41Speaker 2: we finally have someplace to eat. Yes, glad to have them.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Theyor they're gonna employ a lot of people. They have
- 51:46Speaker 2: great steaks. But we you've got plenty of great places
- 51:49Speaker 2: that are already there.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Give a little love, give it.
- 51:52Speaker 2: To the people that are there. Just saying somebody, what
- 51:55Speaker 2: you got coming up?
- 51:57Speaker 5: Dave Cook from the Secretary of State's Office, We'll get
- 51:59Speaker 5: into the issue with Pritt, try to bring some clarity
- 52:02Speaker 5: to it.
- 52:02Speaker 2: You're Ryah C.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Comming School, Financial operations officer for the state of West Virginia.
- 52:06Speaker 5: Stops by with information on central offices, Chris being President
- 52:10Speaker 5: and CEO of First Energy on their power plant. Plus
- 52:13Speaker 5: we'll talk to char at Helper and Fox News Fauci
- 52:16Speaker 5: taking the fit I saw that. We'll talk with that,
- 52:18Speaker 5: see what the White House thinks about that, and much
- 52:21Speaker 5: much more.
- 52:21Speaker 2: All right, I'll be back again tomorrow, West Virginia. Pickle
- 52:25Speaker 2: guy on the show to moncles, see you later till
