- 0:36Speaker 1: It's like if you sees the word yeah, how old
- 0:39Speaker 1: were you when the eminem came out six the afternoon
- 0:43Speaker 1: soaps on? Now today? How there we go? I missed
- 0:45Speaker 1: my afternoon sais Yes, Tamara, heavy sigh. It's like when
- 0:50Speaker 1: you expect to get socks for Christmas and it turns
- 0:52Speaker 1: out to be a baby guy. You would have said
- 0:54Speaker 1: socks and like an iPhone fourteen? Yeah okay, but you
- 0:59Speaker 1: are never a young boy, were you? No? So so
- 1:01Speaker 1: regardless of what you are calling about, way in on
- 1:05Speaker 1: on Paul's little thing Paul Pole, Yeah, Paul's little Paul.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Can we leave my thing in my pole? Out of
- 1:14Speaker 1: this conversation with Andy Hartwin. Anyway, this is Patriots Unfiltered,
- 1:18Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It
- 1:25Speaker 1: is Wednesday here at Gillette Stadium, and it's really a Tuesday,
- 1:29Speaker 1: right right yeah, so yeah, because of the Monday game.
- 1:33Speaker 1: But um, let's see, it's Mike, it's Evan, it's Alex,
- 1:37Speaker 1: it's Paul, it's me, it's Matt and the booth and
- 1:39Speaker 1: we're here for the next two hours talking Patriots coming
- 1:42Speaker 1: up Monday night football with the Chicago Bears. I got
- 1:46Speaker 1: a couple of nuggets I'll throw out there. I'll butt you.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Evan will get at least one of these. Who is
- 1:50Speaker 1: the only Patriot that in PF has above ninety rating?
- 1:55Speaker 1: Michael One, No Jack Jones, no Jakobe Myers, no, non
- 2:03Speaker 1: Dietrich Wise. Oh yeah, it was great. And did you
- 2:08Speaker 1: know that the Patriots have not given up a touchdown
- 2:10Speaker 1: to a running back this year? That's random? Yeah, what
- 2:17Speaker 1: does it mean? Couple a couple of little nuggets out there?
- 2:20Speaker 1: Absolutely dis Yeah so yourself. Yesterday we had a little
- 2:25Speaker 1: informal poll like it kind of was formal continually. Oh yeah,
- 2:29Speaker 1: I'm going to continue yea. Callers um telling us who
- 2:32Speaker 1: they prefer, Well, maybe we should get ends. And on
- 2:35Speaker 1: this show, and on this show, I'm happy to report.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm happy to report on this show the majority of
- 2:41Speaker 1: listeners are Mac, not all, not all, but on other
- 2:47Speaker 1: shows it's overwhelmingly Zappy. So I like to think that
- 2:51Speaker 1: our listeners a little bit more educated to think. And
- 2:54Speaker 1: that's not a knock on Zappy. See, people will take
- 2:56Speaker 1: that as a knock on Zappy. It's not a knock
- 2:58Speaker 1: on Zappy. It's us reality, you know. Evan and Alex
- 3:04Speaker 1: talking about it as they started their show of like
- 3:07Speaker 1: you're your your impression of one guy necessarily doesn't mean
- 3:11Speaker 1: that you don't like the other guy. Like I can
- 3:13Speaker 1: like Zappy and still think Mac is good. Right, yeah, yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 1: And in all seriousness, I would like to get Evan's
- 3:20Speaker 1: thoughts because I know probably out of all of us,
- 3:24Speaker 1: he was the furthest away from having any sort of
- 3:27Speaker 1: Zappy fever. And I don't think any of us is
- 3:30Speaker 1: like coming down with any kind of affliction here. But UM,
- 3:34Speaker 1: curious if if you've had your needle move at all.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I did. Yeah, he swayed me. I told you he would,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I told you he played different on Sunday he played different.
- 3:44Speaker 1: I I said it on on Cash twenty two, and
- 3:49Speaker 1: I agree that I have been pretty anti Zappy for
- 3:54Speaker 1: the most part because of what I've seen on film.
- 3:56Speaker 1: But the decision making and the processing from this last
- 4:00Speaker 1: game was as good as it gets. Like, honestly that
- 4:04Speaker 1: he made like three mistakes the whole game, and none
- 4:06Speaker 1: of them were catastrophic. None of them were interceptions or
- 4:08Speaker 1: pick sixes or anything like that. So we're really almost
- 4:12Speaker 1: in nitpick territory with some of them. And I think
- 4:16Speaker 1: the things that stood out the two things where the
- 4:18Speaker 1: ball placement, you know, back shouldering Johnny Smith on the
- 4:21Speaker 1: scene pass instead of leading him into the safety, throwing
- 4:25Speaker 1: off of leverage. You know, understanding blitzes like where who's
- 4:29Speaker 1: getting replaced in the blitz and where the open spots
- 4:31Speaker 1: are going to be in the blitz. Coverage coming off
- 4:35Speaker 1: first reads right like he comes off the pick play
- 4:38Speaker 1: to Myers, hits the backside slant the taekwon Thornton for
- 4:41Speaker 1: a touchdown, gets to Ramanders Stevenson on third down on
- 4:45Speaker 1: a check down after the initial read isn't there. You know,
- 4:47Speaker 1: those types of processing things and decision making whatever you
- 4:50Speaker 1: want to call it are advanced for a quarterback that's
- 4:55Speaker 1: only in his second career start. And yeah, they have
- 4:59Speaker 1: to manage some of the deep shots, right, They have
- 5:02Speaker 1: to scheme it up with play action and you know,
- 5:05Speaker 1: two man route combinations which are simplified and stuff like
- 5:08Speaker 1: that to get the ball down the field when he's
- 5:10Speaker 1: in the game. But the decision making and the processing
- 5:14Speaker 1: speed and the accuracy in the pocket movement, I mean
- 5:17Speaker 1: it was on full display like that was as good
- 5:19Speaker 1: of a I said before you're putting him in like
- 5:24Speaker 1: post Brady era in terms of quarterback play. There's maybe
- 5:27Speaker 1: two or three other games I can think of where
- 5:29Speaker 1: our quarterback was as clean as Zappy was in that
- 5:33Speaker 1: game on Sunday. Other games where guys have made a
- 5:35Speaker 1: higher downfield throws, you know, a high a degree of difficulty,
- 5:38Speaker 1: but just in terms of the process, it was incredibly
- 5:41Speaker 1: clean on Sunday. So how would you compare it to
- 5:43Speaker 1: Mac like last year? Is those are all the things
- 5:45Speaker 1: that Mac. We felt like good about Mac last year.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I mean, did you feel like, yes, these were things
- 5:48Speaker 1: Max showed last year when when he was in his
- 5:50Speaker 1: rookie y, Yeah, I do think so. I think the
- 5:53Speaker 1: one thing that maybe stood out a little bit with
- 5:55Speaker 1: me was Zappy And maybe this is more like recency
- 5:59Speaker 1: bias with Mac coming off the first read and getting
- 6:02Speaker 1: to the second or getting to the check down. He
- 6:05Speaker 1: was doing that a lot faster than what Mac had
- 6:09Speaker 1: been doing the first three games of the year. You know, Mac,
- 6:11Speaker 1: I thought at times, and most of it was trying
- 6:14Speaker 1: to load up the deep shots, but I thought at
- 6:16Speaker 1: times was kind of like a one read quarterback, you know,
- 6:19Speaker 1: like he was kind of looking down the one side
- 6:22Speaker 1: of the field or looking at the one progression and
- 6:24Speaker 1: going from there, whereas with Zappy, I thought on Sunday,
- 6:28Speaker 1: came off a lot of covered initial reads in the
- 6:30Speaker 1: second half especially, and got to some of the other
- 6:33Speaker 1: options in the progression really impressively. Well, so what does
- 6:40Speaker 1: it means your verdict? Keep playing Zappy or this is
- 6:44Speaker 1: the This is the hard part, right because I don't
- 6:47Speaker 1: know if it means anything, Like it could just mean
- 6:48Speaker 1: that Zappy is also a good player, right Like, it
- 6:51Speaker 1: could mean absolutely nothing. Now, I am still inclined to
- 6:54Speaker 1: go with the larger sample size and stick with Mac Jones,
- 6:58Speaker 1: but I do think that it's important and that some
- 7:00Speaker 1: of the things that they've done well with Bailey Zappy,
- 7:04Speaker 1: Like the under center play action stuff has to stay in. Like,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I don't care who's at quarterback. You can't go back
- 7:10Speaker 1: to back games an average fifteen yards per attempt off
- 7:13Speaker 1: play action and then go back to what they were
- 7:15Speaker 1: doing in the first three weeks of the season when
- 7:17Speaker 1: they weren't calling it like that. That has to be
- 7:19Speaker 1: a part of this team. The power run game or
- 7:23Speaker 1: you know, the zone run game, whatever you want to use.
- 7:24Speaker 1: It's both working decently well at this point. And the
- 7:28Speaker 1: play action off of it is part of their identity
- 7:31Speaker 1: as a football team. And really it's been an identity
- 7:33Speaker 1: for them since like twenty eighteen, you know, going all
- 7:35Speaker 1: the way back to the Brady stuff. So why didn't
- 7:37Speaker 1: they do it with Mac in the early in the season,
- 7:39Speaker 1: Like I mean, we were all just like thought it
- 7:40Speaker 1: was a neptitude of offensive coordination and that well they're
- 7:43Speaker 1: just not even running play action And then clearly they
- 7:46Speaker 1: knew what it was. But can you rule that out?
- 7:48Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah, no, I'm not ruling out anything.
- 7:50Speaker 1: But literally they went to revolved successful you know, maybe
- 7:53Speaker 1: they were evolving. Maybe it has something to do with
- 7:55Speaker 1: the defenses that they've played, they've been you know, some
- 7:58Speaker 1: are most susceptible to some of that stuff than others,
- 8:01Speaker 1: you know, I mean, certainly Cleveland sold out. They wanted
- 8:06Speaker 1: to stop the running. By the way they did, they
- 8:08Speaker 1: did a really good job opened them up to I
- 8:11Speaker 1: would say no fewer than ten completely wide open receivers
- 8:16Speaker 1: in that game. Like I'm not talking about he's got
- 8:19Speaker 1: a step, I'm talking wide open guys. And as Evan explained, Zapp,
- 8:25Speaker 1: who was right on it every single time, he was
- 8:27Speaker 1: looking where he needed to be looking, and when he
- 8:30Speaker 1: had to make a second read he did and he
- 8:33Speaker 1: I thought he delivered the ball. My question, I guess
- 8:35Speaker 1: would be, I mean, I think right now it's inarguable
- 8:40Speaker 1: like mac Jones has more experience, he's your better option
- 8:44Speaker 1: if healthy, if both guys are healthy, Mac Jones is
- 8:47Speaker 1: a better option because he's further along the process. But
- 8:49Speaker 1: do you still see a huge gap in the physical
- 8:54Speaker 1: tools and the physical tools. I would say not necessarily.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I think the one thing that you see with Mac
- 9:04Speaker 1: is look the six deep completions he got against Baltimore.
- 9:08Speaker 1: I know there's the turnovers. I know there's a lot
- 9:10Speaker 1: of context other than that, But just going off of
- 9:12Speaker 1: those six throws, Zappy has not put on tape anything
- 9:15Speaker 1: that's come close to that. Nope, I would agree the
- 9:17Speaker 1: best offensive stretch they have was the first two and
- 9:19Speaker 1: a half quarters of the Ravens game. Yeah, so you know,
- 9:23Speaker 1: the deep shot to Davante Parker with the safety ranging
- 9:25Speaker 1: over the top and the ball drops in and beats
- 9:27Speaker 1: the safety there, and like, Zappy hasn't put anything like
- 9:30Speaker 1: that on film. Now, I think, like I was kind
- 9:34Speaker 1: of getting at, is that you have to if you're Mac,
- 9:37Speaker 1: Like I hope this is a good thing for him
- 9:40Speaker 1: in some ways because he's seeing some of the things
- 9:43Speaker 1: that Zappy is doing and and almost learning from him
- 9:49Speaker 1: in a way that like, oh, like this can be
- 9:51Speaker 1: super easy, Like I don't have to make this really
- 9:53Speaker 1: difficult on myself and throw the ball you know average
- 9:56Speaker 1: ten point four are yards attempt and lead the league
- 9:58Speaker 1: in deep passes and stuff like, I don't have to
- 10:00Speaker 1: do that every single time. Like we can do things
- 10:03Speaker 1: a little bit differently, and hopefully the coaches evolved with that,
- 10:08Speaker 1: Mac can evolve with that. Now. I'm not saying that
- 10:12Speaker 1: it necessarily won't happen, but I think a lot of
- 10:14Speaker 1: the things that they were doing in the first three
- 10:16Speaker 1: weeks of the season were Mac driven, like they were
- 10:20Speaker 1: a shotgun team. They were more spread formations, they were
- 10:23Speaker 1: more eleven personnel, they were taking deeper throws down the field,
- 10:26Speaker 1: they were starting to incorporate RPOs Like this is too
- 10:29Speaker 1: much of a crossover with Alabama and what Mac was
- 10:33Speaker 1: doing at Alabama to say that this wasn't that Mac.
- 10:37Speaker 1: They were going without Mac's consent on doing these types
- 10:40Speaker 1: of things. So will Mac go back to some of
- 10:43Speaker 1: this more simplified stuff, Like, you know, I think that
- 10:47Speaker 1: in some respects it's hard for a second year quarterback
- 10:50Speaker 1: that felt like he was beyond this to then reverse
- 10:52Speaker 1: course and go backwards right, Like, I think that that
- 10:55Speaker 1: might be difficult. It'd be interesting, like to get h
- 11:00Speaker 1: McDaniel's viewpoint on this, like what would you have done
- 11:03Speaker 1: in Max's second year? You know, now he'd never be honest,
- 11:07Speaker 1: but he could never get that in. But I'd be
- 11:08Speaker 1: interested to know, like what would his that dinosaur certainly
- 11:12Speaker 1: would have stuck with the offense they were using that
- 11:14Speaker 1: was holding him back the last three years. I would
- 11:17Speaker 1: just wonder, like what would his approach of Ben in
- 11:20Speaker 1: year two with Mac. You know, I don't know. I
- 11:23Speaker 1: don't know the answer to that. Like now, I know
- 11:26Speaker 1: Josh is open to new things. He's the guy that
- 11:28Speaker 1: drafted Tim Tebow, right, you know, so he was ready
- 11:32Speaker 1: to do some different things in Denver, m But you know,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I'm curious. I do think that, you know, some of
- 11:40Speaker 1: the scheme changes I do think have worked out in
- 11:43Speaker 1: some respects because I'm not sure Taekwon Thornton's making the
- 11:47Speaker 1: place he's making already and Josh McDaniel's offense, like with
- 11:52Speaker 1: the complexities and with the just between the ears stuff
- 11:56Speaker 1: that it takes to succeed in that offense, I don't know,
- 12:00Speaker 1: if you know, maybe his speed is just so good
- 12:02Speaker 1: that it doesn't matter and he'd kind of transcends the
- 12:04Speaker 1: system anyways, But I'm not sure if he's making the
- 12:08Speaker 1: plays or playing as much as he is, you know,
- 12:11Speaker 1: just going back to Nikkiel, he was on IR for
- 12:14Speaker 1: the first eight weeks of that season. Then they took
- 12:16Speaker 1: him off IR and he still wasn't ready to play.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It still took another week or two for them to
- 12:20Speaker 1: get him off the field even when he was healthy,
- 12:22Speaker 1: because they're trying to get him up to speed with
- 12:24Speaker 1: everything that's going on. So I do think that in
- 12:27Speaker 1: some respects, some of the simplifications and modifications that they've
- 12:30Speaker 1: made have benefited guys like Taekwon and maybe even a
- 12:33Speaker 1: guy like Cole Strange in some respects too. But yeah,
- 12:36Speaker 1: I again, I think that Max still has the higher ceiling.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I think that you still have to go with the
- 12:41Speaker 1: larger sample and what you trust in that. But they
- 12:45Speaker 1: have to stick to some of the things that they're
- 12:47Speaker 1: doing because it's making it easier for everybody. It's limiting
- 12:51Speaker 1: the turnovers, and they're still getting explosive plays. I mean,
- 12:54Speaker 1: they had nine plays of twenty plus yards on Sunday.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It's not like they're having an issue of creating chunk
- 13:00Speaker 1: is with a more simplified version of their offense. The
- 13:03Speaker 1: other thing I want to bring up today is is
- 13:05Speaker 1: all these rumors that are out there now. Brier had
- 13:08Speaker 1: his report that we talked about yesterday, but now Ben
- 13:11Speaker 1: Voland has sort of thrown gas on that fire saying that,
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know, Mac needs to be humbled or needed to
- 13:18Speaker 1: be humbled. Isn't this the guy that we talked about
- 13:22Speaker 1: like that worked really hard to put on some strength
- 13:25Speaker 1: in the offseason, worked out with receivers in the offseason,
- 13:30Speaker 1: you know, became captain. And whether you think it's the
- 13:33Speaker 1: players who don't do that or Belichick who does that,
- 13:36Speaker 1: somebody thought he was you know, he was a safe
- 13:40Speaker 1: pick to be a captain. You don't do that with
- 13:42Speaker 1: a guy who's got a bad attitude. So I'm really
- 13:45Speaker 1: I think some of this is irresponsible. I really do.
- 13:48Speaker 1: I think somebody yeah, m yeah, absolutely, I think somebody
- 13:53Speaker 1: took the whole He asked questions a lot. So wait, like,
- 13:56Speaker 1: I have no idea. I'm gonna stay right up front.
- 13:59Speaker 1: But why are you want to actically assuming it's irresponsible
- 14:01Speaker 1: and not true? I'm because I'm looking at the evidence.
- 14:04Speaker 1: No one has given us one shred of it, but
- 14:06Speaker 1: they've given you evidence to the contrary, and you're taking
- 14:09Speaker 1: evidence evidence of like superficial. What's the evidence that they're
- 14:13Speaker 1: giving us. They're talking about the blowback that he gave
- 14:16Speaker 1: about the changes in the coaches. I again, I'm stating
- 14:19Speaker 1: upfront that I have no saying this. I do not
- 14:23Speaker 1: have ins not evidence. Though they're saying that being named
- 14:26Speaker 1: a captain, they heard evidence of being not. You don't
- 14:31Speaker 1: name a guy a captain who's not a team player. Okay, right,
- 14:34Speaker 1: that's again that's just your opinion. That's not a fact. No,
- 14:38Speaker 1: that's that's your views. I've been on teams with captains
- 14:42Speaker 1: that were the worst people on the team. Yeah, but Everett,
- 14:44Speaker 1: it's all money under the table, not just every this
- 14:47Speaker 1: is the NFL, it's not just every I've been around
- 14:50Speaker 1: a lot of selfish captains, a lot of selfish leaders.
- 14:53Speaker 1: All right, Well, if you play a lot of sports,
- 14:55Speaker 1: you've been you've been on teams with selfish You think
- 14:57Speaker 1: Bill would name a captain and a guy who's I
- 14:59Speaker 1: have no idea. I stated for the up up front,
- 15:02Speaker 1: can't stated anymore emphatically. I have no idea how Bill
- 15:05Speaker 1: Belichick and Matt Matt Jones. I just think if no
- 15:10Speaker 1: facts counter the you know, whether or not it's true
- 15:13Speaker 1: or not, counter the idea that this is a guy
- 15:16Speaker 1: who's got a big ego. Okay, if I told you
- 15:20Speaker 1: a fact that he complained to his agents about the
- 15:23Speaker 1: changing in the offense, would you believe me or we
- 15:25Speaker 1: just what does that have to do with ego? Who
- 15:29Speaker 1: are you to question how they're running their offense? Why not? Like, like,
- 15:36Speaker 1: what does that have to do with ego. You know,
- 15:38Speaker 1: like you worry, you're concerned, you don't understand. So what
- 15:40Speaker 1: does that have to do with ego? Before before we
- 15:43Speaker 1: get into a semantic fight, you and I have a
- 15:45Speaker 1: different definition of ego. So I'm gonna do I know,
- 15:48Speaker 1: I say this all the time, Mike. I mean, I'm
- 15:50Speaker 1: gonna step out of this. Does this have to be so?
- 15:52Speaker 1: I think ego means when when? When you do things
- 15:55Speaker 1: like that? Really, Fred doesn't so automatically a good player,
- 15:59Speaker 1: a good teamate if you were a captain. I don't
- 16:02Speaker 1: so philosophical difference of it. I'm wondering what's going on?
- 16:05Speaker 1: And I have an ego? Well, cap, can you guys
- 16:08Speaker 1: hear me? Yeah, I can hear you. Ye. Mac was
- 16:11Speaker 1: also named captain before any of the struggles this season,
- 16:14Speaker 1: before the season even started, So I mean I could
- 16:17Speaker 1: see something change. I could see something changing between the
- 16:21Speaker 1: point where he's named captain, they go out, they have
- 16:24Speaker 1: all these struggles. He set him right, like it's I
- 16:30Speaker 1: don't know, I don't think it's yeah, but we were
- 16:31Speaker 1: told that he's you know, if the reports are true
- 16:34Speaker 1: that he was complaining in the off season, I'm not
- 16:37Speaker 1: over the summer throughout. I'm with Paul and the fact
- 16:41Speaker 1: that I have no inside information. No, I just based
- 16:43Speaker 1: off of what we've been able to observe from Mac
- 16:46Speaker 1: being here every single day and talking to him in
- 16:49Speaker 1: training camp. He was grumpy in training camp, like there's
- 16:52Speaker 1: no other way to put it. Like he would get
- 16:54Speaker 1: up to the podium and they were practicing poorly on offense,
- 16:58Speaker 1: and he was like grumpy, like, down, we have a
- 17:02Speaker 1: lot of work to do. And look, I mentioned it earlier.
- 17:07Speaker 1: They were running an offense that looked like Alabama. Like
- 17:10Speaker 1: they have receivers everywhere, they're ditching the full back, they're
- 17:14Speaker 1: spreading the formation, he's barely under center, and they're doing
- 17:18Speaker 1: all these things. And you know, he goes. I asked
- 17:20Speaker 1: him about RPOs. He's like, yeah, I want to do RPOs.
- 17:22Speaker 1: And now all of a sudden, here comes RPOs. RPOs
- 17:24Speaker 1: are cool, right, RPOs are cool? I like RPOs. And
- 17:27Speaker 1: now all of a sudden, they're running our pos. They're
- 17:29Speaker 1: not going under center, they're running eleven personnel sixty five
- 17:33Speaker 1: percent of the time, which is Alabama, Alabama, Alabama, Alabama.
- 17:37Speaker 1: So obviously, oh, and they're throwing the ball down the field.
- 17:40Speaker 1: Which I asked Matt Patricia about and he said, in college,
- 17:45Speaker 1: Mac had a lot of success throwing the ball down
- 17:47Speaker 1: the field, so we thought we would throw the ball
- 17:49Speaker 1: down the field more. Okay, so all these things they
- 17:52Speaker 1: are doing for Matt, and I'm just gonna like, but
- 17:54Speaker 1: what you know, you might be right. I I don't know.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I'm just saying I don't take reports and immediately say
- 18:05Speaker 1: one of the seventeen things that I can come up
- 18:07Speaker 1: with completely to eliminate this report and dismiss it, like
- 18:11Speaker 1: this is what everybody did to se Seth Wickersham when
- 18:13Speaker 1: he told you there was a rift between Belichick and Brady,
- 18:16Speaker 1: and he was one percent right. I don't just automatically
- 18:19Speaker 1: take the word of a report, and I don't just
- 18:22Speaker 1: automatically dismiss a report. As usually as the case with
- 18:26Speaker 1: these kinds of things, the truth is probably somewhere in
- 18:29Speaker 1: the middle. I just don't think that when I think
- 18:33Speaker 1: something that my facts are more important than someone else's opinions,
- 18:37Speaker 1: that they make it to facts. I just wonder, like,
- 18:39Speaker 1: you have three guys that have come out recently and
- 18:42Speaker 1: said Max had some issues with with with sort of
- 18:46Speaker 1: getting on board. I think that's ego. You know, you
- 18:49Speaker 1: don't think that that's an ego thing. Okay, Evan and
- 18:52Speaker 1: I kind of think that's superficially that are ego related.
- 18:56Speaker 1: How is he? But my point is is that two things. One,
- 18:59Speaker 1: how is he unhappy with how things are going when
- 19:02Speaker 1: they're building the offense to his liking, So they're not
- 19:06Speaker 1: doing it right exactly exactly, So he thinks that they
- 19:10Speaker 1: are building an offense and they're building it incorrectly, that
- 19:13Speaker 1: they with guys who coach defense right, don't know how
- 19:17Speaker 1: to do this, and when you spent the whole off
- 19:19Speaker 1: season you complaining about that. But but I'm a nobody, No,
- 19:23Speaker 1: I know, but like like idiot or maybe Paul's right, no, no,
- 19:29Speaker 1: but there's a different between an idiot who doesn't know
- 19:32Speaker 1: what he's talking about saying I don't know about this
- 19:34Speaker 1: thing with the defensive coaches and the players thinking that no,
- 19:37Speaker 1: specifically the quarter. Again, I I don't translate that to ego.
- 19:41Speaker 1: I don't know. I think it's ego. But the plays
- 19:43Speaker 1: that they're running are max plays like these are plays
- 19:48Speaker 1: that Mac wants to be running and he's not playing well,
- 19:51Speaker 1: so like at some point, so at some point you
- 19:54Speaker 1: have to look at it and say, Okay, either this
- 19:58Speaker 1: doesn't translate like it did at Alabama because of whatever
- 20:03Speaker 1: is you know, his physical limits. We don't have all
- 20:05Speaker 1: the best players in the league, or they don't have
- 20:07Speaker 1: DeVante Smith, Jalen Wattle and all these guys that he's
- 20:11Speaker 1: throwing to right fair or and early in the year
- 20:14Speaker 1: protection like right out of Alabama, or they're not coaching
- 20:18Speaker 1: it well right, So it's either personnel or it's there
- 20:21Speaker 1: not cold. But both of those things to me add
- 20:26Speaker 1: up to jiving that the quarterback might be frustrated with
- 20:30Speaker 1: the situation. Okay, but part of the problem. Again, again
- 20:33Speaker 1: that's fair. But to me, that doesn't mean he has
- 20:36Speaker 1: a big either. Okay. So again I'm not gonna let's
- 20:39Speaker 1: not get it bogged down into to like the semantic argument.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Maybe maybe the Florio used the wrong word that, you know,
- 20:46Speaker 1: talking about his attitude. Maybe he's using the wrong words.
- 20:50Speaker 1: But is there is there something that's you know, some
- 20:53Speaker 1: kind of an issue there could be, There could be, Okay,
- 20:56Speaker 1: so the frustration we kind of agree, but we're going
- 21:00Speaker 1: to get an argument. You know, when ben Voland goes on,
- 21:02Speaker 1: he goes this guy he needs to be humbled. I'm like, okay, why,
- 21:07Speaker 1: Like because he's considered. Maybe he thinks he's a strain.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Maybe he thinks he's achieved a level of success in
- 21:13Speaker 1: this league that he really hasn't yet. Maybe he thinks
- 21:16Speaker 1: maybe he wants to achieve it, and he's worried that
- 21:19Speaker 1: it's not gonna happen. I'm gonna paraphrase our good buddy,
- 21:21Speaker 1: Andy Hart's old line, he went to the Pro Bowl.
- 21:26Speaker 1: He's not a pro bowler. Maybe he thinks he's a
- 21:28Speaker 1: pro bowler. But maybe he does. But it's not his
- 21:31Speaker 1: fault that he went to the Pro Bowl. No, no,
- 21:33Speaker 1: But maybe he thinks he deserved to be there. Maybe.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But this is what like, again, you're gonna maybe he's
- 21:38Speaker 1: murdered somebody last week. I don't know. Now we really
- 21:41Speaker 1: have brought Andy back to the show. I just don't know.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I don't think it's ego, and I don't think it's
- 21:45Speaker 1: like I don't know, I don't know what it is.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I don't really. He looks at it and he says, well,
- 21:50Speaker 1: when I was at Alabama and I had Stark running
- 21:53Speaker 1: this offense, we weren't coaching it like this. And when
- 21:57Speaker 1: I was with Josh McDaniels last year, and we were
- 21:59Speaker 1: running that offense. We also weren't coaching it like this,
- 22:03Speaker 1: So what the heck are we coaching? And then I
- 22:05Speaker 1: think they come back and they say, well, look at
- 22:08Speaker 1: the last two games with Bailey, because Bailey went in
- 22:10Speaker 1: there and did everything that we told him to do,
- 22:13Speaker 1: and he just threw for three hundred and fifty yards
- 22:15Speaker 1: against the Browns. So like, I think that right now.
- 22:18Speaker 1: And this is more what Brier said than what Voland said.
- 22:21Speaker 1: I think what Brier said was spot on. If Brear
- 22:24Speaker 1: is different, I think both. But I think you're getting
- 22:27Speaker 1: caught up in the no but semantic needs to be humbled. Well, yeah,
- 22:32Speaker 1: he jumped on Briers and tried to put inject his
- 22:36Speaker 1: own thing to it. Responsible I largely agree with, not
- 22:41Speaker 1: the irresponsible pupper. I largely agree that he jumped on
- 22:43Speaker 1: someone else's report and sort of tried to build off
- 22:46Speaker 1: of that. We talked about Brill yesterday and I didn't
- 22:49Speaker 1: say that, oh, that's wrong, right, But I do think
- 22:51Speaker 1: that's an example of his ego. I do, okay, but
- 22:55Speaker 1: you don't have it like that. I said, we don't
- 22:57Speaker 1: think we have the same definition of the word. Yeah, um,
- 23:00Speaker 1: but yeah, I mean I agree with what Evan's talking about.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Like again, don't necessarily get fixated and Voland has been
- 23:08Speaker 1: the subject of my verbal barbs for years and I
- 23:12Speaker 1: love and I say like with all the love in
- 23:14Speaker 1: my eyes. I think I think he's a good guy.
- 23:17Speaker 1: I do, but I think he is wildly off base
- 23:20Speaker 1: a lot of the time. And I say this to
- 23:22Speaker 1: him all the time. It's hilarious, Okay. I just I
- 23:27Speaker 1: don't agree that this like this huge issue that maybe
- 23:30Speaker 1: Ben try to make it out to be. And I
- 23:32Speaker 1: know that someone trolled him and try to borges him
- 23:35Speaker 1: with a fake tweet or something fake text or something
- 23:37Speaker 1: like that, then maybe that's part of this whole thing too,
- 23:40Speaker 1: and maybe he was guilty of being really irresponsible. Like
- 23:43Speaker 1: Fred said, I just don't immediately see something that I'm like,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I never really thought of it that way. That's got
- 23:48Speaker 1: to be wrong. Like I don't just dismiss the stories
- 23:52Speaker 1: that don't necessarily jive with my feeling. Yeah, I mean,
- 23:56Speaker 1: I think you know what I mean, maybe what I
- 23:59Speaker 1: feel like getting to see Mac over the last year
- 24:01Speaker 1: and a half. And I've said it on the show before,
- 24:02Speaker 1: it's just it doesn't exactly match up for me, just
- 24:04Speaker 1: in terms of the personality. The guy that I've seen,
- 24:06Speaker 1: he doesn't seem like any And now I'm not saying
- 24:08Speaker 1: that that's right, says Jive with the guy I've seen,
- 24:11Speaker 1: he's kind of a petulant child, like that's what he
- 24:14Speaker 1: looks like to me on the practice field all the time.
- 24:16Speaker 1: He stormed off on one of the Giants practices last year.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Like listen, I played tennis and I was a monster,
- 24:25Speaker 1: and that's Mac Jones, but breaking rackets, I didn't have
- 24:29Speaker 1: an ego. Okay, I didn't think him and John McEnroe macinroe, right,
- 24:36Speaker 1: I just that's what Saban called him. Yeah, I guess
- 24:38Speaker 1: my question is is what point did Mac Jones think
- 24:40Speaker 1: that he knows more than Bill Belichick and that he
- 24:42Speaker 1: that you know, and even if it's not working for
- 24:44Speaker 1: Mac the way that it did in Alabama, you know,
- 24:46Speaker 1: is there a shift that happened in him and said, Bill,
- 24:49Speaker 1: you're you're doing this wrong. I don't like the way
- 24:51Speaker 1: you're doing it, I mean, And that seems to me
- 24:53Speaker 1: like a major rift. And if that's true, then I
- 24:55Speaker 1: think the Zappie thing has legs. And I wonder where
- 24:58Speaker 1: these reports are. And I also under why the evidence
- 25:01Speaker 1: to that would be, why doesn't Bill just say when
- 25:04Speaker 1: Mac is ready, he's just put the words out of
- 25:06Speaker 1: my mouth. Yeah, did you I see Doug Kide's report
- 25:08Speaker 1: today and that he's been open to playing through injury
- 25:15Speaker 1: and that the decision basically is up to the team. Yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 1: and now there's evidence to that too, because I think
- 25:21Speaker 1: Mac was the one that wanted looked into getting the
- 25:24Speaker 1: tight rope surgery and what if, forever whatever reason, he
- 25:27Speaker 1: didn't get it. I think the team was saying, no,
- 25:29Speaker 1: you just rest it and it'll get better, and do
- 25:31Speaker 1: you sit out? Do you have a report on that? Yeah?
- 25:35Speaker 1: He went to the doctor he went, you know, I know,
- 25:38Speaker 1: but do you have any information that says the team
- 25:40Speaker 1: told him not to get the surgery? No? I don't.
- 25:42Speaker 1: But the second opinion he went to was the guy
- 25:46Speaker 1: who performs that surgery. Why would you You could go
- 25:49Speaker 1: to any doctor in the world. You chose to go
- 25:52Speaker 1: to the doctor that performs that surgery. See if that
- 25:55Speaker 1: will get me on the field quicker? Right? And then
- 25:57Speaker 1: he if he determined he didn't want the surgery, I
- 26:00Speaker 1: it was his decision on the surgery not the team. Well,
- 26:02Speaker 1: I think I think he weighed that what the that
- 26:04Speaker 1: doctor said against what the team doctor said and said,
- 26:07Speaker 1: all right, maybe the team doctors are right. I can't
- 26:10Speaker 1: get back any quicker. Right, I'll wait, I'll just wait
- 26:14Speaker 1: it out. But I the the initial reports that came
- 26:17Speaker 1: out were, Oh, he doesn't want the surgery because he
- 26:21Speaker 1: he wants to wait. No, I think now we realize
- 26:25Speaker 1: that he wanted to get out there faster. Like he's
- 26:27Speaker 1: been the one pushing, pushing to get out there faster.
- 26:30Speaker 1: And every report that has really come out after the
- 26:33Speaker 1: initial injury and the initial aftermath has been like Mac
- 26:37Speaker 1: could start this weekend, Mac could and part right, But
- 26:42Speaker 1: it seems like it's coming from his camp. He wants
- 26:44Speaker 1: to be on the field. This is not up. Yeah,
- 26:47Speaker 1: Alex is one hundred percent. The Phil Perry report on
- 26:50Speaker 1: Sunday during our show when he's on his show and
- 26:53Speaker 1: he's I'm we're reading the tweets we were talking about it.
- 26:56Speaker 1: He looks like a guy who's not even close. Do
- 26:58Speaker 1: you remember that from the Phil's talk I'm watching him
- 27:00Speaker 1: work out here. Mike Reese had very similar comments of
- 27:04Speaker 1: I don't know if you were watching his pregame, like,
- 27:07Speaker 1: I mean, he sort of agreed that he didn't look great.
- 27:10Speaker 1: He certainly did not look It was very abundantly clear
- 27:13Speaker 1: that he was not playing right. That was abundantly clear.
- 27:16Speaker 1: It wasn't playing when they elevated Garret Gilbert on Saturday. Yeah,
- 27:19Speaker 1: but you could tell me what he looked like you
- 27:20Speaker 1: were there, Yeah, I mean it was look it was
- 27:23Speaker 1: so limited, like he played some catch with Bailey Zappy
- 27:26Speaker 1: and that was like pretty much the extent of any
- 27:28Speaker 1: quarterbacking that we saw him do. So yeah, I think
- 27:31Speaker 1: that when he's standing still like he's he's throwing the ball, fine,
- 27:36Speaker 1: but anytime he tries to move around a little bit,
- 27:39Speaker 1: it's it's clearly a little bit. So you had the
- 27:41Speaker 1: same view that Phil and Mike talked about. Now, to
- 27:44Speaker 1: Elsie's point, the next day, Phil Perry comes out and said,
- 27:49Speaker 1: I might have you know, overstated. It's pretty clear that
- 27:54Speaker 1: he got a call from Max Camp. So no, no,
- 27:57Speaker 1: no, no no, no, Max Max ready to play what they're
- 28:01Speaker 1: they're the ones not right. Who knows if you got
- 28:05Speaker 1: the surgery, you might have played last week. Maybe, Like
- 28:08Speaker 1: I have no problem I said this at the start.
- 28:11Speaker 1: These athletes, their body is their their whole life. They
- 28:14Speaker 1: have to do what's best for their body. I don't.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I don't hold it against the guy who says I'm
- 28:19Speaker 1: not having surgery if I don't need it. If I'm
- 28:21Speaker 1: going to heal and I'm going to be the same
- 28:23Speaker 1: one hundred percent without surgery, who's to say if the
- 28:26Speaker 1: surgery is something that's not going to affect me long term?
- 28:29Speaker 1: Right guy's got a long career ahead of him. I
- 28:31Speaker 1: have no problem with him deciding I'm not going to
- 28:33Speaker 1: take the surgery if it means I have to sit
- 28:35Speaker 1: out maybe a week longer than I want to. I
- 28:39Speaker 1: don't have any problem with that. You know, now with
- 28:41Speaker 1: Kaid's report eighty five to ninety percent right now, where's
- 28:46Speaker 1: that coming from? Is it coming from Max camp or
- 28:48Speaker 1: is it coming from the team. If it's coming from
- 28:50Speaker 1: Max Camp, then I I'm a little dubious. Of course,
- 28:53Speaker 1: you know it has to be coming from Max camp.
- 28:54Speaker 1: They're trying to make a push that he's feeling with
- 28:57Speaker 1: the heat. But if it's true, if it, if he
- 28:59Speaker 1: is eighty five to nine percent right now, I think
- 29:02Speaker 1: he's playing. I just speaking in generalities because I don't
- 29:05Speaker 1: want to speak four dug or anything like that. But
- 29:08Speaker 1: there are very few people on the beat who have
- 29:11Speaker 1: sources in this building. Okay, so all these sources he
- 29:15Speaker 1: gets the media, all these reports are coming from me. Okay,
- 29:19Speaker 1: They're all coming from the agents of course. So like
- 29:22Speaker 1: there's like I'm not going to name names, but there's
- 29:24Speaker 1: probably like two people on the beat who actually have
- 29:26Speaker 1: a source inside the building. I'm gonna say three. I'm
- 29:30Speaker 1: gonna say three. Yeah, yeah, And you can match up,
- 29:33Speaker 1: like who is probably whose mcde perry Yeah, And when
- 29:39Speaker 1: I say Perry, it's Perry slash Current that counts us
- 29:41Speaker 1: one entity. Yeah. I think that, you know, back to
- 29:45Speaker 1: Mike's boylike about you know, him questioning the coaching right
- 29:48Speaker 1: and questioning Bill and his ability to coach. I think
- 29:51Speaker 1: it's as simple sometimes as like, Okay, we installed this
- 29:55Speaker 1: play and we ran this play at Alabama wild successfully,
- 30:00Speaker 1: and that's why I wanted in the offense. But when
- 30:03Speaker 1: we ran it at Alabama, they coached the progression this way,
- 30:06Speaker 1: or they coached the route this way, or are they
- 30:09Speaker 1: told me to see this or they told me to
- 30:11Speaker 1: see that? And now if this is true, I'm done.
- 30:14Speaker 1: So Now who's who's source? Whose source. I don't know.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I don't know who anybody. I just am telling you
- 30:21Speaker 1: that you what I missed just happened. Oh boy, no
- 30:31Speaker 1: I missed it. What I don't even know. I can't
- 30:35Speaker 1: believe you got Mike. He was like whispering to himself
- 30:39Speaker 1: and missed it. Oh my god. I just said. I
- 30:43Speaker 1: was like, if this is true, then I'm done. And
- 30:46Speaker 1: then I used to just shut up. Oh I didn't
- 30:49Speaker 1: say fudge. I'm not saying that that's necessarily the case,
- 30:52Speaker 1: but you can see it. You can see how that
- 30:54Speaker 1: could be the case. No, no, and that's and that's
- 30:56Speaker 1: like if you're laying that out and sure maybe like
- 30:59Speaker 1: and I'm the coach and I'm like, shut up, Like
- 31:02Speaker 1: it's also tell you because earlier this year we also
- 31:05Speaker 1: had the report that Kendrick Bourne had a similar YEP disagreement.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And then what happens every time Mic Jones is on
- 31:13Speaker 1: the field and Kendrick Bourne gets out there he can't drink.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna throw it to you. And I'm just joking.
- 31:20Speaker 1: I'm being that was very felber and mast I'm just joking.
- 31:24Speaker 1: I get it. I'm just trying to have fun. But
- 31:26Speaker 1: it is and I mean I think, I mean the
- 31:28Speaker 1: way that Evan laid it out, then if that's possible,
- 31:30Speaker 1: then is it possible the coaches or maybe making some
- 31:32Speaker 1: calls saying this kid's gonna like lose the ego right now?
- 31:35Speaker 1: Then I could see that. I could see that right now.
- 31:38Speaker 1: And I just like Bill Belichick if he stepped back
- 31:42Speaker 1: and he just said, man, what I've had a little
- 31:46Speaker 1: bit of success in this league. I think I know
- 31:49Speaker 1: I'll put together the winning program. You know, Like, why
- 31:51Speaker 1: am I explaining myself, you know, beyond the normal explaining
- 31:57Speaker 1: myself to any player? Yeah, to this guy who's been
- 32:02Speaker 1: in the league for twenty minute, If really I just
- 32:05Speaker 1: rather have you say thank you, get on with it.
- 32:08Speaker 1: What if either way, sorry, what if Bill is siding
- 32:11Speaker 1: with Mac in this? In the leagues are coming from
- 32:14Speaker 1: coaches who are upset you never know, you don't know? Yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 1: can wait? The leaks are coming from what coaches? What
- 32:22Speaker 1: could be you know, judge of Patricia leaking that he's
- 32:26Speaker 1: got a big Ea, this is what I'm saying. That's
- 32:27Speaker 1: what Mike just explain. But maybe I understand, but maybe
- 32:30Speaker 1: they wear it because Belichick is like Mac has a point.
- 32:34Speaker 1: There was also that report I losing all the reports
- 32:37Speaker 1: in my head right now. There's also report that Joe
- 32:39Speaker 1: Judge has become a Bailey advocate. Yeah, I think that
- 32:41Speaker 1: was part of the volan is that part of the Okay, Well,
- 32:44Speaker 1: then I take it back because then that's probably not true.
- 32:49Speaker 1: And then there was the uh, you know, way back
- 32:52Speaker 1: when this all started in Green Bay, right after the
- 32:54Speaker 1: green Bay game, there was the Bill Simmons podcast where
- 32:57Speaker 1: his birdies in foxborow what's telling him Robert Krapp like
- 33:01Speaker 1: Bailey's Zappy. There's play over Brian Oyl. There's just no
- 33:05Speaker 1: way that Bailey's appy is going in there. And I'm
- 33:08Speaker 1: not saying, you know, Mac was freelancing. I think that
- 33:10Speaker 1: that's out there. That word has been out there too,
- 33:12Speaker 1: But there's no way that Bailey's appy is going in
- 33:14Speaker 1: there not doing it exactly how it's drawn up right,
- 33:17Speaker 1: like exactly what he's being told. And so I think
- 33:20Speaker 1: the only thing that comes out of this, and I
- 33:22Speaker 1: you know, we can go on and on about all
- 33:24Speaker 1: this this other politics, the only thing that comes out
- 33:26Speaker 1: of this is like maybe a little bit more confidence
- 33:28Speaker 1: that the coaches actually know what they're doing to a degree,
- 33:32Speaker 1: and and maybe that helps him in the long mac
- 33:34Speaker 1: I'm talking about helps him in the long run, right,
- 33:36Speaker 1: Like that's what you have to help, but help, Like
- 33:38Speaker 1: I think I said this the very moment he got hurt.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Sometimes you're struggling, you get a couple of weeks off,
- 33:44Speaker 1: you're watching the sideline, and it helps you. And I
- 33:46Speaker 1: think that might I think that might have had something
- 33:48Speaker 1: to do with why they wanted him at the game
- 33:50Speaker 1: in Cleveland. I don't really think he looked like he
- 33:52Speaker 1: was close to playing, but maybe they wanted him there, Yeah,
- 33:56Speaker 1: on the sideline, like he you know he can. I'm
- 33:58Speaker 1: sure he was at the Detroit game, right he was,
- 34:01Speaker 1: He was on the sideline. I don't remember seeing him,
- 34:04Speaker 1: but was he remember on the sideline? Okay, well, maybe
- 34:07Speaker 1: they just wanted him on the sideline, Like listen, this
- 34:10Speaker 1: is what's going on. This is the communication, this is
- 34:12Speaker 1: what we're seeing Andy, and hey, it's working. We if
- 34:17Speaker 1: we play like this, we can have success. Steve Sarkisian
- 34:20Speaker 1: when I called it like that, See, he takes place
- 34:24Speaker 1: even I'm not willing to take. Were you were you
- 34:28Speaker 1: on Paul's my Little pole? When you were on pole?
- 34:32Speaker 1: Will you Zappe your man, I try to stay off
- 34:35Speaker 1: the pole. And by the way, when you're calling right
- 34:37Speaker 1: in today you can you can do about it. You
- 34:39Speaker 1: can talk about it obviously anything you want, but just
- 34:42Speaker 1: continue to give us a way in on on where
- 34:44Speaker 1: you stand. And only if you didn't weigh in yesterday.
- 34:47Speaker 1: I don't want to repeat. I don't want this to
- 34:49Speaker 1: be the democratic process and let you just vote as
- 34:51Speaker 1: many times as you want. I wanted this to be
- 34:53Speaker 1: done right. The whole thing bothers me about about him.
- 34:59Speaker 1: You know, all this stuff that's coming out about Max frustrations.
- 35:02Speaker 1: And the reason why I put some merit to is
- 35:03Speaker 1: because you could see it. It was palpable, like we
- 35:05Speaker 1: like we were standing at the press conferences and it
- 35:07Speaker 1: was obvious. I remember standing in front of one of those.
- 35:10Speaker 1: It looked like he wanted to just fight something and
- 35:12Speaker 1: then he got Then I thought he got better as
- 35:14Speaker 1: the as the just one thing in regards to him,
- 35:18Speaker 1: like like they were playing like crap, Like does it
- 35:20Speaker 1: necessarily mean that like he like could he have just
- 35:22Speaker 1: been frustrated with the performance of the day and was
- 35:25Speaker 1: carrying that over Does that necessarily mean that he was
- 35:27Speaker 1: absolutely totally upset the whole operation, and he could have
- 35:31Speaker 1: just been general frustration. Again. But this is why don't
- 35:34Speaker 1: dismiss reports, because I don't know. You could be right,
- 35:39Speaker 1: or he could have just spent the entire offseason saying
- 35:42Speaker 1: I can't believe I'm saddled with a defensive coordinator as
- 35:45Speaker 1: my offensive coach. I don't know. It could have been
- 35:49Speaker 1: either one of those things. Could have been somewhere in
- 35:51Speaker 1: the middle, which is what I'm guessing it really was.
- 35:55Speaker 1: All right, five five past five hundred. Is a ticket
- 35:58Speaker 1: out web raid at patriots dot com. Is the email address?
- 36:02Speaker 1: Oh he's getting killed, by the way the Twitter? Have
- 36:04Speaker 1: you seen that? Yeah, he's getting killed. Now. If he's
- 36:07Speaker 1: facing this, by the way off a fake text, he
- 36:10Speaker 1: deserves to get killed, we should get fired. Right. The
- 36:12Speaker 1: other part of it, I guess he said, you know,
- 36:13Speaker 1: this isn't a report, and then later on, you know,
- 36:16Speaker 1: if you want to call it a report, call it
- 36:18Speaker 1: a report, right, you know that the fake text? I
- 36:20Speaker 1: don't know because I know he was on the radio
- 36:22Speaker 1: and I think with Greg Hill this morn and he said,
- 36:24Speaker 1: I've gotten more, uh you know, feedback right now, like
- 36:28Speaker 1: just take it from that, Like when you. Well, after
- 36:29Speaker 1: he said it, he said, now I've got text from
- 36:31Speaker 1: people who should know. Yeah, that was like the phrasing
- 36:33Speaker 1: I saw. It was like a Twitter DM from someone
- 36:36Speaker 1: who would know, who would know? Right, So if he's
- 36:38Speaker 1: getting a fake tweet or text and he's going with it,
- 36:42Speaker 1: he should get fired. Yeah, Like you don't even know
- 36:45Speaker 1: who you're getting. No, it's a texted fro him. No,
- 36:47Speaker 1: you would if if you get a direct message on Twitter,
- 36:49Speaker 1: you know who it's from. Yeah, but you know the account.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Are you taking the word? No, I know the account,
- 36:54Speaker 1: But are you taking the word from someone who like, Well,
- 36:56Speaker 1: that's the thing. Do you know how many things like
- 36:57Speaker 1: that we get. Everybody's got an agenda and nobody all
- 37:00Speaker 1: the time. It came from Pat, my buddy, he's a
- 37:05Speaker 1: he's a janitor at Gillette and he over on the radio.
- 37:09Speaker 1: And now that I like work here too, I'm like,
- 37:11Speaker 1: do you realize that that's like Fort Knox, Like you
- 37:14Speaker 1: really think that your buddy who like sweeps the floor
- 37:16Speaker 1: is getting into Bill Belichick's office and overhearing anything important
- 37:19Speaker 1: like come on like little little little news, oh little news,
- 37:23Speaker 1: little news field yachts, yea yea tis says. The Patriots
- 37:27Speaker 1: are signing wide receiver special teamer Raleigh Webb off of
- 37:30Speaker 1: the Ravens practice squad to their fifty three roster perres
- 37:33Speaker 1: to Rosy to Bill, they lost sixty six players. I
- 37:36Speaker 1: was gonna say that means that he can perform some
- 37:39Speaker 1: of those seventeen roles that Cody Davis tea for those
- 37:41Speaker 1: ten plays again that you need. He appeared in two
- 37:43Speaker 1: games this season on special teams and even two snaps
- 37:46Speaker 1: at safety. Well, there you go special teams and see
- 37:49Speaker 1: who's the guy that Cody Davis by the way on
- 37:52Speaker 1: officially on Malcolm Malcolm Perry. Yeah, comes to my baby guy.
- 37:56Speaker 1: I know that Malcolm Perry is like a quarterback skill
- 37:58Speaker 1: player mix, but like that kind of versatility. They still
- 38:02Speaker 1: got that other guy that does that, like Lee bow Yeah,
- 38:06Speaker 1: that was called Lee. I think Linn Boden. I think
- 38:09Speaker 1: Lynn Bowden might be here to be more of like
- 38:11Speaker 1: a pass catching back training. I don't know, but I
- 38:14Speaker 1: just mean he has that kind of versatility. Yeah, going well,
- 38:18Speaker 1: I just know that I have no idea, the idea
- 38:22Speaker 1: how would one of my one of my favorite spfws today, um,
- 38:26Speaker 1: you know, asking why why are they not activating Trey
- 38:28Speaker 1: Nixon's just like you have like seventeen different wide receivers
- 38:32Speaker 1: who at any gave up point this year have contributed. Well,
- 38:35Speaker 1: we gotta get another one in the like Tae Kwon
- 38:37Speaker 1: Thornton comes back two games, he's making plays. We got
- 38:40Speaker 1: what about this guy? How about this guy? I only
- 38:42Speaker 1: trade for Robbie Anderson after he blew up at his
- 38:45Speaker 1: coaches on the sidelines and quit halftime. Do you think DJ?
- 38:48Speaker 1: Like I saw that on Twitter, someone was like, you
- 38:50Speaker 1: know DJ Moore walking into the meeting. All I had
- 38:52Speaker 1: to do was yell at someone to get out. All right,
- 38:56Speaker 1: let's get to the MAXI path five hundred, let's go
- 39:01Speaker 1: to uh nasty, You're nasty. He calls himself Jimmy the Cheese.
- 39:06Speaker 1: I don't think Jimmy the Cheese voting. What's up, Jimmy? Hey,
- 39:09Speaker 1: Fred love the show. How are you doing good? Um?
- 39:12Speaker 1: I just got a quick background and then leading to
- 39:15Speaker 1: a quarterback controversy in the NFL rule question, that's if
- 39:18Speaker 1: I have time. Okay, I grew up in New Haven, Connecticut.
- 39:21Speaker 1: So Eric doesn't know what he's talking about. Because we
- 39:23Speaker 1: have great feat there's pizza, no doubt. Yeah. Yeah, and
- 39:27Speaker 1: uh and my my father is originally from Worcestern, Mass
- 39:31Speaker 1: And he passed away. And he's a huge Giants fan
- 39:33Speaker 1: because back then dating a team, you know, in New England,
- 39:37Speaker 1: and I grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. I'm a
- 39:39Speaker 1: huge Patriots fan. Yeah. Um so all my left. I
- 39:42Speaker 1: pretty much grew up watching Bill Belichick for like the
- 39:45Speaker 1: last forty years because the New Haven they have the
- 39:47Speaker 1: Giants a jest and of Patriots on. Yeah. The one
- 39:50Speaker 1: thing I want to say about, um, I want a
- 39:53Speaker 1: quarterback controversy as a Patriots fan because I want competition.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I want to Bill Belichick to pick the best one.
- 40:00Speaker 1: That's what I want. Okay, all right, So who do
- 40:03Speaker 1: you like? Well? I was, I was. I'm the same
- 40:06Speaker 1: one that Jimmy quote from Connecticut. I called about sticking
- 40:09Speaker 1: up for Zappie a couple of weeks ago in the beginning.
- 40:11Speaker 1: So my in think I like them, but you know,
- 40:14Speaker 1: I'm not ready to say, you know, he's the next quarterback.
- 40:17Speaker 1: But you know there was all my chips around Bill
- 40:19Speaker 1: Belichick to pick the best one, right, But you're one
- 40:23Speaker 1: of those Yeah, okay, all right, thanks Jimmy. No matter
- 40:28Speaker 1: what Belichick. That's the that's the cop out answer that
- 40:32Speaker 1: I also took in one of our posts this week.
- 40:34Speaker 1: I was just like, we'll let the coaches decide, which
- 40:37Speaker 1: really means like I'm kind of wing, but how do
- 40:40Speaker 1: you you know? Right now? Would you agree that you
- 40:43Speaker 1: really don't have an apples to apples comparison? Yeah? Yeah,
- 40:47Speaker 1: because of what Yeah? And I also think, like, you know,
- 40:50Speaker 1: not to like stroke the Belichick ego too much, but
- 40:53Speaker 1: like he sees things that none of us see, right,
- 40:56Speaker 1: So in terms of watching the tape and stuff like that,
- 40:58Speaker 1: Like I I see as much as I can, and
- 41:01Speaker 1: but I don't I don't know the play calls, I
- 41:02Speaker 1: don't know the progression. I don't know. You know, I
- 41:04Speaker 1: can guess, educated guess, but like obviously Belichick is seventy
- 41:08Speaker 1: times beyond what I can comprehend. So like Billy trust, right,
- 41:13Speaker 1: he's got the details that we don't have, right. I
- 41:15Speaker 1: do like that point though, of just like, aside from
- 41:18Speaker 1: all the nonsense, like there's competition going on right now,
- 41:21Speaker 1: and no matter how Mac feels wherever he falls on
- 41:23Speaker 1: the syndrome yesterday, he's feeling some pressure. He's got to play. Well, wait,
- 41:26Speaker 1: till training camp next. And and that's the thing, you
- 41:29Speaker 1: know we talked about. You know, why didn't Bill just
- 41:31Speaker 1: say Max the quarterback, and he's ready, he'll play. Maybe
- 41:34Speaker 1: in Bill's mind, a second year quarterback doesn't deserve that
- 41:38Speaker 1: vote of confidence yet he hasn't earned it. Oh my god,
- 41:41Speaker 1: he did it with Cam Newton at nausea. You're right,
- 41:45Speaker 1: and I'm not saying that you're wrong. I'm just saying
- 41:47Speaker 1: a great point. But he was memphatic in twenty twenty
- 41:51Speaker 1: all season long. I think with Cam, I think he
- 41:54Speaker 1: knew he was dealing with someone with a very fragile league.
- 41:57Speaker 1: And I also think that there was a little, I
- 42:02Speaker 1: don't know, I don't want to say an arrangement, maybe
- 42:05Speaker 1: like I'm gonna bring you in. You're gonna be the starter, right,
- 42:09Speaker 1: You're gonna help me out. I'm gonna help you out. Yeah. Now, yeah,
- 42:14Speaker 1: if Cam had gotten hurt, Let's say that that game
- 42:16Speaker 1: that Cam had a miss for COVID. Let's say it
- 42:19Speaker 1: wasn't Brian Hoyer who played that night, but it was
- 42:21Speaker 1: Jared Stidham the whole game. I know Stidham ended up
- 42:24Speaker 1: coming in, and let's say Stidham ripped it up. I'm
- 42:27Speaker 1: not so sure that like eight nine, ten weeks into
- 42:30Speaker 1: the season, he would have been so emphatic about Cam
- 42:33Speaker 1: the way he was. Yeah, I agree with that, Like
- 42:34Speaker 1: if he had if Stidham did what Zappi did against Cleveland, yeah,
- 42:39Speaker 1: in the one game that he subbed in, I'm not
- 42:41Speaker 1: sure it would have been so emphatic. But I do
- 42:43Speaker 1: think there was like, you're the best, No, Cam, you're
- 42:47Speaker 1: the best. That whole year was nausea. Well, the problem
- 42:49Speaker 1: with Cam is that he is kind of a pie piper.
- 42:53Speaker 1: So you know, Bill is always, you know, concerned with
- 42:56Speaker 1: the locker room. If if if let's say Stidham did
- 42:59Speaker 1: what Paul just said and you added a place, there's
- 43:02Speaker 1: gonna be guys that are like signing with Cam, and
- 43:04Speaker 1: Bill would have had to deal with that somehow, right,
- 43:06Speaker 1: you know. So I do think I one hundred percent
- 43:10Speaker 1: agree with Evan. Every time he had the opportunity that year,
- 43:12Speaker 1: it was emphatic, No, Cam's the quarter yea. Even when
- 43:15Speaker 1: they were mathematically eliminated from the right, They're all like, well,
- 43:18Speaker 1: don't you wanted for one game against the Jets and
- 43:23Speaker 1: he would he got mad at it, But I do
- 43:25Speaker 1: think it's a little different. It's a little funny in
- 43:27Speaker 1: retrospect too, with the way Zappi's played that you never
- 43:29Speaker 1: even really got a chance from Stidham, Like you know,
- 43:32Speaker 1: I know they were forced their hand into Zappy, but
- 43:33Speaker 1: he played pretty well well. I mean it seems like
- 43:35Speaker 1: that they they've got a pretty good track record here
- 43:37Speaker 1: the last two years of getting rookie quarteracks to play.
- 43:39Speaker 1: That that's that age old thing, is how many guys
- 43:41Speaker 1: are in that category that they never really got a
- 43:44Speaker 1: chance to play and might might have been able to
- 43:46Speaker 1: take take advantage. Yeah, that's what it's all about. Um,
- 43:49Speaker 1: Steve's in New York case, Steve, what's that We're doing fine? Um?
- 44:01Speaker 1: So in terms of the mac uh situation, it was
- 44:06Speaker 1: a were back controversy, I'm I'm for Mac. I think that,
- 44:11Speaker 1: Um there's a lot of nuances there. You know, Zappy's
- 44:14Speaker 1: playing great. I'm not taking anything away from him. I
- 44:17Speaker 1: think he's stepped up definitely from Green Bay and you
- 44:20Speaker 1: can definitely see him progressing, which is great. But I still,
- 44:25Speaker 1: you know, when you think about future in terms of
- 44:28Speaker 1: the franchise and as a quarterback, is that be the
- 44:31Speaker 1: answer or is Mac answer. I don't think there's enough
- 44:34Speaker 1: to say, oh, we're gonna kick Mac out from being
- 44:37Speaker 1: the starter because we have enough info on on Zappy.
- 44:40Speaker 1: I think they go back to Mac and then if
- 44:44Speaker 1: if Mac continues to play bad, then I say, yeah,
- 44:47Speaker 1: we need to you know, you need to look at
- 44:49Speaker 1: something here. What's going on? Um? You know. I think
- 44:52Speaker 1: the you know, the reports about the attitude we're at
- 44:55Speaker 1: the edit, but the ego, I think people are getting
- 44:59Speaker 1: it wrong. I don't it's ego at all. I think
- 45:01Speaker 1: it was built up frustration because when they first started
- 45:07Speaker 1: the training camp and they were doing well on offense,
- 45:09Speaker 1: you know, everyone's happy, everyone's tapping, and then as soon
- 45:12Speaker 1: as they started you know, each play being blown up
- 45:15Speaker 1: or him having to run around and you know players
- 45:17Speaker 1: not playing. I think all that frustration started building and building.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And then you had the media saying, hey, you know
- 45:22Speaker 1: this new offense, what are you guys doing? You know,
- 45:24Speaker 1: how come now looking forward? What's going on? I think
- 45:27Speaker 1: all that frustration started building up and building up in him.
- 45:30Speaker 1: I think what the coaches want to see with him
- 45:32Speaker 1: is kind of what David Andrews did that one practice
- 45:35Speaker 1: and you guys had comment on it, where he took
- 45:37Speaker 1: the offense and was like, hey, you know, you know,
- 45:40Speaker 1: basically had to come to Jesus moment with everyone's saying, hey, listen,
- 45:43Speaker 1: you know, we gotta clean this up. And then next
- 45:46Speaker 1: practice they did much better. I think that's the missing
- 45:49Speaker 1: piece of Mac is he it's mind to have that
- 45:52Speaker 1: want to be perfection, but you gotta get that attitude
- 45:55Speaker 1: to a positive way to affect your team. And you
- 45:58Speaker 1: notice that was born being you know, very downtrodded and
- 46:03Speaker 1: you know, questioning as well, and it's that stuff leaks,
- 46:07Speaker 1: you know, sort of team. Now you look at them
- 46:09Speaker 1: now with Billy Zampi and there's a different mood, a
- 46:12Speaker 1: different attitude, to different morale with a team. So I
- 46:16Speaker 1: think that's where Matt you know, needs to grow and
- 46:19Speaker 1: needs to learn. Yeah, all right, thanks, thanks Steve. I
- 46:25Speaker 1: do think that's a good point though. Yeah, and then
- 46:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna go listen to what Devin mccordy has to say.
- 46:29Speaker 1: But the word choice is what the I think the
- 46:31Speaker 1: biggest issue is going on here, Like I think it's
- 46:36Speaker 1: not ego. Egoes in the wrong word for it. Frustration
- 46:39Speaker 1: is the right word for it. And he should be
- 46:41Speaker 1: frustrated the way that they played, right, you know, the
- 46:44Speaker 1: way they played in camp, the way he played and
- 46:47Speaker 1: they played as an offense in the first three weeks
- 46:49Speaker 1: of the season. Like if he wasn't frustrated with that,
- 46:51Speaker 1: then that would be a bigger problem to me than
- 46:53Speaker 1: him being frustrated with the fact that they weren't playing well.
- 46:56Speaker 1: So frustration is a is way different to me, at
- 46:59Speaker 1: least than than ego. That's why I didn't want to
- 47:01Speaker 1: get fixated on the word choice. Yeah, like like can
- 47:04Speaker 1: we have a conversation of whether or not we think
- 47:07Speaker 1: there's something going on? Like whatever, however you want to
- 47:10Speaker 1: define it, Like, if it's not an ego, it might
- 47:12Speaker 1: be sort of an unwillingness to Like I said, you know,
- 47:16Speaker 1: we talked about Brear's report yesterday. It could you know,
- 47:20Speaker 1: but I think Voland took it to a place where
- 47:23Speaker 1: now I don't think there was you know, he just
- 47:27Speaker 1: he's making assumptions. I think Breer actually probably talked to
- 47:29Speaker 1: somebody you know, so needs to be humbled. So and
- 47:34Speaker 1: then the then the circling of the wagons that everybody
- 47:37Speaker 1: does to know. He doesn't to dump on Volan, It's
- 47:40Speaker 1: just all right, on that note, that's not the first time.
- 47:43Speaker 1: All Right, everyone's going to uh some press conferences, open
- 47:47Speaker 1: locker room. Uh yeah, Devin mccordy's going out. We'll get
- 47:49Speaker 1: to here from Bailey zappy today. All right, Eldred, you
- 47:52Speaker 1: read anything into that? Hey, hey, hey, you know what
- 47:59Speaker 1: I love when y'all argue. Paul, you and Fred keep
- 48:02Speaker 1: doing a little bit more, a little more off. You
- 48:03Speaker 1: know what I mean. We're gonna get everybody else. Yeah,
- 48:07Speaker 1: I mean, I don't argue. Now. Alex looks like it's
- 48:10Speaker 1: like her parents are arguing. She doesn't know what to do.
- 48:13Speaker 1: I know one thing, one thing I liked is that,
- 48:18Speaker 1: remember I told y'all about a month ago he looked
- 48:20Speaker 1: he looked like he's mad, frustrated because the defensive guys
- 48:23Speaker 1: called him played and he didn't look right, y'all going
- 48:26Speaker 1: right back over a couple a bout of months so
- 48:27Speaker 1: late about the same thing. But you can't blame him
- 48:30Speaker 1: with being frustrated. Off would let down a little bit,
- 48:33Speaker 1: but I don't know that would looks a whole lot better,
- 48:37Speaker 1: you know, looks a little bit better. But he's played. Well,
- 48:40Speaker 1: do you think they're shopping? Eglare and uh, and Born
- 48:44Speaker 1: because they're trying to get two more receivers or they're
- 48:47Speaker 1: trying to get a tackle. I don't think they're yeah,
- 48:48Speaker 1: I don't think they're shopping receivers to get receivers. Um.
- 48:52Speaker 1: But I read the Jeremy Fowler piece earlier this week
- 48:55Speaker 1: that they're taking a lot of calls on Kendrick Born
- 48:58Speaker 1: and so far they're unwilling to yeah, to broach that,
- 49:01Speaker 1: and then kind of a throwaway line at the very
- 49:04Speaker 1: end agalas you know, gotten some reading between the lines,
- 49:08Speaker 1: it seems to me like the Patriots kind of telling
- 49:10Speaker 1: you Agalore is available, Born is not. Yeah, but I
- 49:13Speaker 1: don't think anybody would want Aggalore because of the price tag, right, Yeah,
- 49:17Speaker 1: what is it like five million guaranteed this year with
- 49:19Speaker 1: Kendrick Bourne unguaranteed? Yeah, it's guarante. I mean, whatever the
- 49:24Speaker 1: contract is for this year is guaranteed the rest of
- 49:26Speaker 1: the year, because once you're on the roster of a
- 49:27Speaker 1: week one, your your base salary is guaranteed. Yeah. Yeah, okay,
- 49:32Speaker 1: but you ain't got worried about Robie and he's already
- 49:34Speaker 1: with the Cardinal they did. Oh yeah, it was a trade. Yeah,
- 49:38Speaker 1: they traded him Sunday, like basically before they got home.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Don't even come back. Thanks all right, thank you, keep
- 49:45Speaker 1: on trucking. Um, all right, do you read anything into
- 49:49Speaker 1: being serious? Can you read anything into that be talking today?
- 49:52Speaker 1: The only thing I'd read into it is that I
- 49:54Speaker 1: feel like they're gonna go down to the wire whenever
- 49:56Speaker 1: Mac does come back, and they're not gonna. They're not
- 49:58Speaker 1: gonna just get the quarterback interview out of the way
- 50:00Speaker 1: exactly Wednesday. So you don't read anything into it, right,
- 50:03Speaker 1: because if we agree like it would be exactly if
- 50:08Speaker 1: if Zappy talks, it's still an open question. If Mac
- 50:11Speaker 1: talks today, he's playing, yeah, right, you know, and it's
- 50:14Speaker 1: and I mean, I know Bill belichick silliness aside. It
- 50:17Speaker 1: is still early in the week, like you know, there
- 50:19Speaker 1: just to observe over, Okay. So I like the way
- 50:21Speaker 1: you phrase that because I I'm kind of with you.
- 50:24Speaker 1: I don't really read anything into it, but you kind
- 50:25Speaker 1: of convinced me to read something into it the way
- 50:27Speaker 1: you just said that. Bro, if Mac talk today, he'd
- 50:30Speaker 1: be playing, right. That tells me they don't know if
- 50:32Speaker 1: he's playing. Oh I don't think they do. That tells
- 50:34Speaker 1: me they don't because if they knew he was playing,
- 50:37Speaker 1: I don't think that they would waste any time they
- 50:39Speaker 1: need to get out in practice. And you know who
- 50:40Speaker 1: else needs to know the team? The team note needs
- 50:43Speaker 1: to know too, absolutely if you knew it, and I
- 50:45Speaker 1: understand that they can say, listen, Max's playing this week,
- 50:48Speaker 1: but Bailey Zabby's gonna talk on Wednesday and we're just
- 50:51Speaker 1: gonna let the Bears be in, you know, uh in
- 50:54Speaker 1: the darker about this. Yeah, I know you could say
- 50:56Speaker 1: that to the team, but how teams usually mean. But
- 51:01Speaker 1: if we watch practice, we would know yeh. Like everybody said,
- 51:04Speaker 1: like Bill will leave everybody guessing. You know last year,
- 51:08Speaker 1: you know, Miami's not gonna have any idea Bryan Foot
- 51:10Speaker 1: and then Cam Newton was released yea, and Bailey's appy
- 51:13Speaker 1: was this. I mean Mac Jones was the staughter, and
- 51:15Speaker 1: no one thought, well, that's the right way to do it,
- 51:18Speaker 1: like I would. He was right, that is the right
- 51:20Speaker 1: way to do it. I would just say, too, I
- 51:21Speaker 1: don't think they're gonna roll Mac into an interview before
- 51:24Speaker 1: he plays, you know, I think there's too many unimportant
- 51:27Speaker 1: questions that he would be asked, whereas after he plays
- 51:30Speaker 1: he'll have a performance to talk about. I mean, he'll
- 51:32Speaker 1: obviously hot to talk after he plays, so if he
- 51:34Speaker 1: gets up there right now. So what do you think
- 51:37Speaker 1: of Bailey? Huh? You know, do you have any problems
- 51:39Speaker 1: with the team. You don't have Mac too. You have
- 51:43Speaker 1: played last week. You don't have Mac talk until after
- 51:46Speaker 1: he's played a game. Yeah, I agree. I just think
- 51:49Speaker 1: that if they knew definitively right now that he was playing,
- 51:52Speaker 1: he'd talk. I'm not sure about that. I think he's
- 51:56Speaker 1: I still think he's going to start on Monday, but
- 51:58Speaker 1: I think if they knew today that he was playing,
- 52:02Speaker 1: he'd be talking. I'm with Paul, though, I think I
- 52:04Speaker 1: think Mac comes back this week. Yeah, I do too. Well,
- 52:07Speaker 1: if especially if kids reports accurate, Well, I just need
- 52:11Speaker 1: to know, like I still don't know that missing piece
- 52:13Speaker 1: of whether or not he's been cleared by the team, right,
- 52:16Speaker 1: like to say it's the team's decision whether or not
- 52:18Speaker 1: he plays. You don't know if it's the doctors or
- 52:20Speaker 1: the coaches. But it makes it up, Yes, it makes
- 52:22Speaker 1: it out to be the Belichick. I understand that you're healthy.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Go sit over there. It's like hoosiers, I only have
- 52:29Speaker 1: four guys on the court. No, my team's on the court.
- 52:33Speaker 1: Like you're making it sound like it's a coach's decision,
- 52:36Speaker 1: healthy scratch, Like Mac Jones was a healthy scratch last week.
- 52:40Speaker 1: He's been ready to play and they haven't used him. Right,
- 52:43Speaker 1: I don't think that's the case. I don't. I don't
- 52:45Speaker 1: think Mac Jones was a healthy scratch on Sunday. Yeah,
- 52:47Speaker 1: I don't. I don't either. I even just see him
- 52:49Speaker 1: walking on the field before the game. Looks like he's
- 52:51Speaker 1: still got a little walking at that event, he looked
- 52:55Speaker 1: like it was limping down the red tur right. Think
- 52:58Speaker 1: about it. If you were Mac and you were put
- 53:00Speaker 1: shouldn't be out there on Sunday when you out went
- 53:02Speaker 1: out for warm up, you'd be bouncing around. You'd be
- 53:04Speaker 1: showing people that you were ready. And he did not
- 53:07Speaker 1: do that. Did he bowl at all? He really shouldn't
- 53:09Speaker 1: have put on bowling shoes. I don't think thus night, Yeah,
- 53:12Speaker 1: they don't have a lot of supporting they don't they
- 53:15Speaker 1: One other thing I want to bring up before we
- 53:17Speaker 1: get to emails. Um, this is a leftover thing. We
- 53:21Speaker 1: were talking about going for two. Um, you know making it.
- 53:27Speaker 1: You know, when do you do that you know, do
- 53:30Speaker 1: you extend the game and wait till the last time?
- 53:33Speaker 1: And we've had a lot of emailers and they kind
- 53:35Speaker 1: of they made some good points. Which one there was
- 53:38Speaker 1: a few, No, but with like which scenario the one
- 53:41Speaker 1: that happened with down nine? Yeah? Down nine? Okay, and
- 53:45Speaker 1: I'd be curious. Um. The reason, the reasoning is that
- 53:52Speaker 1: it's better to fail early and still and know Okay,
- 53:57Speaker 1: now I know what I need to do, then leave
- 53:59Speaker 1: it to the end because if you fail, then the
- 54:02Speaker 1: game's over. Why because the game's over? Why because you
- 54:06Speaker 1: didn't make the two So now that you're operating under
- 54:09Speaker 1: the premise that you scored a touchdown with no time
- 54:10Speaker 1: left on the clock? Right when did that? When bat?
- 54:14Speaker 1: That necessarily no time? But with very little time? Okay,
- 54:16Speaker 1: so there's no difference either way. You have to steal
- 54:18Speaker 1: three possessions. No, no, But but you see what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 54:22Speaker 1: I like that explanation a matter of fact, Um walking out,
- 54:26Speaker 1: I know you don't know, Okay, so we have, Um, Matt,
- 54:29Speaker 1: do you know the gentleman's name that helps us out
- 54:31Speaker 1: on game day behind the scenes. No, two kids that
- 54:35Speaker 1: are in KSP deer in headlights. Chris okay, I think
- 54:39Speaker 1: it's Chris okay, And I apologize. Chris. I'm that was
- 54:42Speaker 1: very fell girl likes me not to know your name. Um,
- 54:46Speaker 1: I don't mean it like that, but Chris said, he goes, Listen,
- 54:49Speaker 1: he said, I think I can help you out a
- 54:51Speaker 1: little bit. He goes, and I don't necessarily agree with it,
- 54:53Speaker 1: but this is how they think about it. And he
- 54:55Speaker 1: explained it that exact same thing. Six. So there was
- 54:59Speaker 1: I think there was six third team left in the game.
- 55:01Speaker 1: They're down nine. By going for two, if you miss it,
- 55:05Speaker 1: now you know you still need two scores the rest
- 55:07Speaker 1: of the way. Whereas if you are only down eight
- 55:10Speaker 1: and you score and you miss the two, now it's
- 55:12Speaker 1: too late. And I was like, well, what's the difference.
- 55:15Speaker 1: You have to have an onside kick either way. No,
- 55:17Speaker 1: but but six minutes left you need three possessions. But
- 55:20Speaker 1: you're not factoring in the probabilities of making a two
- 55:23Speaker 1: point conversion because that's irrelevant to the equation. Well, completely, Well,
- 55:27Speaker 1: I don't know if I'm going to make the two
- 55:29Speaker 1: point conversion, no matter what, I can't know, no matter
- 55:32Speaker 1: how much, no matter what the percentage of made two
- 55:34Speaker 1: point conversions is I can't know if I'm gonna make it.
- 55:38Speaker 1: It's impossible. But by that philosophy, if you extrapolate it,
- 55:41Speaker 1: shouldn't you just always go for two because you never
- 55:43Speaker 1: know correct how many points you're going to interact the
- 55:45Speaker 1: why would you ever kick the extra point? Because I'll
- 55:48Speaker 1: always know that I'll need an extra score? Like why
- 55:50Speaker 1: is it just down nine? Yeah? Like you if you
- 55:53Speaker 1: want to tell me down fourteen, that's this is another
- 55:56Speaker 1: new age Like last five ten years, teams down fourteen
- 56:00Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter when they score a touchdown, a
- 56:03Speaker 1: lot of times teams go for two. And the line
- 56:05Speaker 1: of thought is, if I make it, I can win
- 56:08Speaker 1: it with another touchdown. If I miss it, I can
- 56:12Speaker 1: still tie by getting one out of two point conversions,
- 56:15Speaker 1: I should be able to convert one of them. I
- 56:18Speaker 1: don't agree with that, but I totally understand that the
- 56:22Speaker 1: analytics people have completely explained that to me the merits
- 56:26Speaker 1: of that line of thought, and I think that there's
- 56:28Speaker 1: some thought that makes sense to that that makes sense
- 56:32Speaker 1: to me. I can't conceive a scenario that it's better
- 56:37Speaker 1: to be down two scores with six minutes left than one. Yeah,
- 56:42Speaker 1: I don't know why it's better that I know I'm
- 56:44Speaker 1: down two scores with six as opposed to not knowing
- 56:47Speaker 1: I'm down with two scores, would say a minute and
- 56:49Speaker 1: a half? Right, well, right, of course that's true. So
- 56:54Speaker 1: with six minutes left in the game, Kevin Stefanski, by
- 56:57Speaker 1: missing the two point conversion, had two on sidekick because
- 57:01Speaker 1: he had to steal a possession that he wouldn't have
- 57:04Speaker 1: had to do had he just kicked the extra point
- 57:07Speaker 1: and played defense. He could have kicked off with six
- 57:10Speaker 1: minutes left, down eight, gott into three and out that
- 57:13Speaker 1: he got, and then had the ball down a score
- 57:17Speaker 1: with say four minutes left. So again he's got the
- 57:21Speaker 1: ball with four minutes, he goes down and scores. Let's
- 57:23Speaker 1: say there's a minute and a half left. You don't
- 57:24Speaker 1: get the two. What do you have to do on sidekick?
- 57:29Speaker 1: What has changed the time on the clock. You still
- 57:35Speaker 1: need three possessions, whether you get the touchdown early or late,
- 57:39Speaker 1: you still need three scores, right, but there's more time
- 57:42Speaker 1: to do it. So let me just no, there's not
- 57:44Speaker 1: French well, and the clock doesn't change. There was six
- 57:47Speaker 1: minutes left in any scenario, either scenario, there was only
- 57:52Speaker 1: six minutes left. The clock does not change. When Stefanski
- 57:56Speaker 1: made that choice, I believe there was six thirteen left.
- 58:00Speaker 1: So let me, can I just read the explanation or
- 58:02Speaker 1: one of the explanations, because we had several people who, yeah,
- 58:05Speaker 1: I know, this is the explanation that has been made
- 58:07Speaker 1: many times, and I don't think it makes a lot
- 58:09Speaker 1: of sense, unlike the down fourteen one, which I think
- 58:12Speaker 1: makes a lot of sense. Okay, so I'm not talking.
- 58:14Speaker 1: What I'm trying to say is I'm not blind to
- 58:17Speaker 1: the analytics. I think that the one thing that I
- 58:19Speaker 1: really like about analytics is when we were growing up, Mike,
- 58:23Speaker 1: when it was fourth down and you were like, anywhere
- 58:27Speaker 1: that wasn't in field goal range, you punted. Damn it,
- 58:30Speaker 1: you punted because that's what my father did, and you
- 58:32Speaker 1: punt the ball. I hate that. I like the fact
- 58:35Speaker 1: that these analytics people are telling you fourth and one
- 58:38Speaker 1: is a high probability play. Even if I'm on my
- 58:40Speaker 1: own forty yard line, I should be able to get
- 58:43Speaker 1: a yard and keep possession. I love that the advent
- 58:46Speaker 1: of going forward on fourth down I think has been
- 58:48Speaker 1: a wildly successful influx in the league. Now I think
- 58:51Speaker 1: there's too many teams that don't know when and when
- 58:54Speaker 1: they should and shouldn't do it. But I love the
- 58:56Speaker 1: fact that people use the analytics now to go for
- 58:59Speaker 1: fourth pound. So I'm not I'm what I'm trying to
- 59:02Speaker 1: explain it is, I'm not one of these dinosaurs. You're
- 59:05Speaker 1: not just that's not willing to think about it a
- 59:07Speaker 1: different way. This email, this is my name's way, and
- 59:10Speaker 1: I'm a longtime PE listener from China. I found out
- 59:13Speaker 1: during the postgame show that Paul and company had a
- 59:15Speaker 1: hard time understanding the logic behind going for two down
- 59:19Speaker 1: nine late in a game. Although it's been explaining countless times,
- 59:23Speaker 1: I hope to lay out some points to help with
- 59:25Speaker 1: the logic. One, you have to convert a two point
- 59:28Speaker 1: play sooner or later to tie the game. In this situation,
- 59:31Speaker 1: the success percentage of conversion after the first touchdown is
- 59:36Speaker 1: considered the same as the hypothetical second touchdown, So the
- 59:40Speaker 1: percentage rate of doing a two point conversion either scenario,
- 59:44Speaker 1: it's the same agreement. If you were two. If you
- 59:48Speaker 1: were to successfully make the conversion, there's no difference between
- 59:51Speaker 1: doing it first or second. But if you were to
- 59:54Speaker 1: fail the conversion, it's better to fail with five minutes
- 59:57Speaker 1: left than five seconds left. Three Paul's claim that the
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: difference between down seven and eight is negligible is simply wrong.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Some people probably feel these two are similar because both
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: are down one score, but it's drastically different winning probabilities.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: The goal of any in game decision is to maximize
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: winning probability, not to make people feel better because you're
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: down one score for the moment. Remember, you'll have to
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: convert a two point play no matter what. Pushing it
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: back doesn't make it easier. Four Paul kept saying, I
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: don't understand why down nine is better than down eight. Actually,
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: nobody is saying that. It's a strong man argument set
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: up by him. The presumed failure of the two point
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: play should not be included in the comparison. I can
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: also say I don't understand why failing a tie or
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: lose two point play at the end of the conversion
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: with more time left is better than failing it with
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: less or even no time left. The logic is to
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: attempt two point earlier than later, so you can adjust
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: your strategy knowing earlier whether it's successful or not. I
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: don't know why it seems like every time someone has
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: these explanations, they have to be snarky about it. And
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: that's coming from the King of snark. Okay, I don't
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: think he was too snarky. The difference is negligible, like
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: and when probability is all it's about that. There's a
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: ton of snark in there. Oh boy, okay you Why
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: are we using hypotheticals like it's better to find out
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: with five minutes left rather than five seconds? Right? Why
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: can't it be the scenario that unfolded on Sunday with
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: six seventeen left in the game. Why do we have
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: to make it five seconds because after they scored with
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: six seventeen left, they immediately forced to three and out
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: and got the ball back right away. Well that's the idea,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: that's what you want to do, right, But somehow it's
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: better to be down two scores because you know you
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: still need two scores Mike, as opposed to being down
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: one score and I go down and score, I don't
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: get the two point inversion. I can still do my
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: onside kick and still have a chance to get the
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: ball back right yea, yeah, So explain to me why
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: it's better, at least in my scenario kicking the extra
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: point gave me a chance to tie the game. Cleveland
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: never got that, you know why, because they were stupid
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: and they and they went for two. Didn't get it,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: had to onside kick, didn't get it, never got never
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: got the ball back with a chance to tie. I
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: would rather at least have a chance to tie. John
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: and New Hampshire says the difference is the offensive possession.
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Knowing you need two scores means you know the offense
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: needs to go full sprint to score the first time,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: or take a field goal, if it makes sense. If
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: you're down eight, you don't know if you need to
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: score as quickly. I don't know, Mike. Have you ever
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: seen the team use the hurry up without it being
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: like in the last minute modele? Yeah, like it without
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: it being like in a last minute situation? Yes, I have.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: So you think that that's allowed. Do you think the
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: coach can do that if you had to score quickly? Like? No? No, no,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Whether you whether you had to score quickly or not,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: do you think you could with six minutes left? I
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: got plenty of time. I don't see why not. If
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: you wanted to go no huddle, could you do that?
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: I think so could you go hurry up now? Why not?
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: All right, we gotta take a break. Paul's gotta eat.

- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Tuesday because we get a game on Monday. Five pats,
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: five hundred. Let's go to Sean and Vancouver. Hey, Sean, Hey,
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: I got a couple of things. I'm wondering if Mac
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: Jones will have more confident when he plays again because
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: of the success that Zappi was having in this system.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Is he going to give more confidence to the game plan.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: It's a good it's a valid thought. I mean, you know,
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: how is this affecting Mac? Is it making him? Is
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: it putting pressure on him. Is it making him realize,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: like others have said here, that hey, it can work.
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: You know, how is he going to react to all this?
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: And I have no idea, I really don't. I'm hoping.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I think he's going to come back to a better
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: offense than what he left, But how is he going
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: to play like? I don't know. I mean, I'm sure
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: the pressure is on him, but I also think this
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: is a little bit closer or normal for him. Of
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: there haven't been a lot of times since high school
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: where he's been the guy. And you know, I think
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: this is just a reminder, and maybe a lot of
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: people don't need reminders in the NFL that your job
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: can be gone in the blink of an eye, but
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: it is a reminder that, yeah, you were a rookie,
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: you made the Pro Bowl, you did all these things
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: last year, but there's another guy waiting behind you to
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: take your job. And that's the case and all on
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: all the NFL. So I'm hopeful that you know, it's
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: gonna help spur him and motivate him to play better. Um,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: but it's it's tough. There's no guarantees that, oh, well,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: the team looked pretty good while he was gone, and
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: now he's motivated and he's going to come back and
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: he's just going to start dropping bombs all over the field.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: Everybody like he's got to go out there and do it. Well,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: you know, like, yeah, go ahead, Sean. Oh sorry, I
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: just want to give my attempt to try and put
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: some logic into this whole two point early two point
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: version thing. I'm looking at the game on last Sunday
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: and trying to put my head into the perspective of
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: Stefans game, what Cleveland's trying to do now there it's
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: there's six minutes on the clock. Maybe they feel like
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: the probability of three scores is pretty low. So when
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: they went for two, initially they're thinking, well, we want
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: to make it seven. They don't want to make it nine.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: They want to make it. They want to have it work.
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: They know that they need and need it to work
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: at least once. But then when it doesn't work, but
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: that's when okay, well you have to you have to
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: try and free s. Course, then they do the on
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: side kick, which doesn't work. So it's it's not that
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: you want to be nine, it's like you want it,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: you want it to be seven. So then the next score.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: Yeah you can. You just explain to me why I
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: wouldn't do it that way, because how you how you're
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: saying it is like you know, you have to get
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: it either way, and if you don't get it, then
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: it's it's it is, it's it's a miracle. Like if
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: you're down three scores with six minutes left, yeah, you are.
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: You're needing a miracle. So I would rather be down
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: two scores with six minutes left. I still need a lot,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: I still need a lot of things to happen. It's
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: still the win probability quote unquote is still grossly against me.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: Like I have very little chance to win a game
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: down fifteen with six and six and a half minutes
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: left in the game, but I like my chances better.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: Or if I can go seven eight, then six, seven three,
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: or whatever the combination happens to be. How you just
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: said that that's and that that's I can't put it
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: any more simply than that. I understand that if I
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: don't get the two point conversion, it doesn't matter if
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: I go earlier, you're late. I just don't see the
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: advantage of knowing early. There is no advantage in that
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: scenario like, either way, you've got to steal that third
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: possession with an onside kick. I don't think it's harder
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: to get an onside kick with a minute and a
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: half left, and it is with six and a half left.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: It's hard. It's a miracle. Let's go to Todd, North Carolina. Hey, Todd,
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: I was thinking about the really, you know, all the
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: Zappy happiness, and I wonder if you know it's not
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: only recency buy it, but bias. Could it also be just,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: you know, the underdog. Everybody kind of roots for the
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: underdog because that's kind of what he is, you know, Yeah,
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: not a sixth round pick, but a fourth round pick.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: You know, you're doing pretty good. Do you think some
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: of that's involved in everybody's And he looks like a
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: kid from Hoosier, and he looks like the little I'm
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: just gonna operate under. The six games that were played
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: this year, the three games that were played with Mac
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: didn't look as good as the three games played with
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: Zappy age. I mean that that's I don't think there's
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: anything that's hidden meaning there are other factors that maybe
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: people are rooting for Zappy like that. Sure, yeah, but
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: I don't think if he wasn't playing as well that
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: people would be wanting him because he's a better story. Yeah,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: Like he played better in the three games that he
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: played than two and a half that Mac played. I
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: would say the two and a half quarters against Baltimore,
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Mac played at a higher level than than Bailey has. Yeah,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: and I think the thing tell me my defense plays
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: better those first three games, and then well that's like
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: your whole thing. Like he's coming back to a better
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: offense than than what he left. Yeah, and a better
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: defense if they play against Chicago, Yeah, he'll have a
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: better offense if they play against someone that can play
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll see well, better defense. But also
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: couldn't you also see some growth with our offensive coordinators
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: that used to be you know, special teams in defense.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: Could may get be getting better handle up, could be
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: you know, calling up. Maybe. I think they've gotten's benefit
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: a bit from that. I think they've gotten some experience
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: in six weeks. Sure. Sure, Yeah, No, I like the
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: way you can't seem to get plays in. And I'm
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: going to keep my vote for you know, just keeping
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: Mac on the side. I'm a Mac guy, but just
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: keep on the sidelines until he's more ready. Guy, come on,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: get off the fence. Okay, Mac, fine, all right, you
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: can't change your vote. This isn't the Democratic National Convention.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Williams and Pellam, what's up? William? What's going on for it?
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: How are you going to? Good? Okay? Um? I have
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: a question, well one for um foot Paul and Evan,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: but I want Ale to do asking that s the
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: mark because that's the different take and it's something that
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: they stay on mask Thursday. That had me a little
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: like what are you seriously? But we'll talk about that tomorrow.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: But the day I'm an answer. Then Matt Jones name
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: who started this dumb thing about Bailey's ZAPPI m Bank
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: Jones like where this come from? What do you mean?
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Which team team bah team Zappy? Team met? Really well,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: I think it's a natural thing. We knew, you know,
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: it's what happens there. I would blame Bailly Zappy for that. Yeah,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: I mean like even in Dallas, I think there were
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: some people up until last week that were like Cooper
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Russia keep playing Oh yeah, you know Okay, I'm just
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: gonna put my narrative on this. Then I'm gonna leave
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: it at that. I'll finished listening pegs and feel from
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: the year there's no I'm going with Matt Jones all
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: the way, and not just because he's a fifteen overall
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: picking on it. It's just he learned the scheme and
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: everything from from Josh mcdann's Okay, Bailly ZAPPI kame and
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: got drafted. He had to learn anything. He just had
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: to learn the scheme. Whatever Bill is, Bill, what make
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: the straight? You know? Just want to forget what he learned?
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: And man, you know it's gonna take some time. So
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: now he's he has to learn this new offense that
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: he won one that I give him some little pushback
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: that yeah, you should question Bill a little bit, not
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: too much. Oh but you know what I mean, But
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: I just I don't know. I just think it's weird though.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: But it's just like, man, Mac does need to come in,
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: you know what I mean, just prove everybody wrong, shut
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: everybody up, you know what I mean. Well, that's the thing,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: and I hope he does. But that's the thing he's got.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: He needs to play better than Zappy did. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:23:18Speaker 1: it's I don't think it's unfair like the situation that
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: Mac is in. Is not unfair, Like a lot of
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: guys have gotten hurt and not being able to play
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: and had a guy come in and play better. Yeah,
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: that's happened to a lot of people. Wally Pip Okay,
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: thanks William, all right, and if he plays, if Mac
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: comes in and plays better, he will play. I'll guarantee you.
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: Bill's not gonna say I'm gonna play Zapp because I
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: like him more than I like Mack. He doesn't talk
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: back to me. If he thinks Mack is playing better,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: Mac will be the guy I think. I think the
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: tough thing too, I've noticed it with some of the
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: calls is that the fact that they're winning is kind
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: of getting turned into the team just has a better
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: view with Zappy, they're responding to it, and it's like
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: because you're winning, shout out. They shut out them very like.
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: I mean after the show yesterday when we were walking
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: back and I sort of was joking around with you guys,
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: and I was like, honestly, like, after all of this,
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: like what do you think their record would be if
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Mac didn't get hurt? And you guys also three and
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: three right right? You know, and maybe you could make
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: a case for four and two packers. But you certainly
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: cannot make a case for two and four. No, you can't.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: So what exactly like this hole? They responded to him.
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: But Paul, I think there are some people that would
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: make the case for two and four that and those
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: people are the ones that just don't think Mac is good.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: You think they're out there. You think Mac would have
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: lost the Cleveland Detroit can not me? So who would
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: make that case that the people? No one would make
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: the case that they lost. The people on your shows
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: think Max stinks, but they don't think they would have
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: lost the Detroit line. I think they think with him
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: and Cleveland Browns, I can make some people worried about
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: them beating them with the third string quarterback. I'll grant you.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: I saw some picks of the other team. Yeah at
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: the last couple of weeks. I'm telling you, man, but
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: there's no way that anybody would have picked Detroit if
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: mac Jones was playing. You can say it, but there's
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: no way anybody would have expected them to lose to
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Detroit or Cleveland. Okay, if mac Jones was healthy, yeah,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: sure not me. I picked him with Bailey Zappy. Do
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: you think I would have picked with Mac. I think,
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: I mean, I think the Packers game is the debate,
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: and then with the I think there's a chance they
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: would have won the pack I think they might have
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: won with Hoyer. Yeah, I do, I do this. Like
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: I said, there's a better argument to be made that
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: they would be four and two if Mac didn't get hurt.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: Then there is what they would be two and four.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Um Jacket and Aba says, I favor Zappy because he
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: has better pocket presents than Mac. Yes, it's a smaller
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: sample size, and yes it's against weaker opponents, but in
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: two games, Zappy shown more pocket presents than Mac has shown.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: In two years, both Mac and Zappy had potential for
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: significant improvement, but App has already shown he has a
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: higher floor than Mac, and being a rookie with a
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: high floor, Zappy may have a higher upside, all right,
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: I don't know. I do think Zappy's got some some
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: good athleticism to move around, you know, in the pocket
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: and escape a little bit. But I also think Max
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: a little bit underrated in that regard. And I don't know.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: I just I thought last year hit Max pocket's presence
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: was that was one of his strengths. Yeah, last year,
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: I don't think it was in the firstability. But yeah,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: it hasn't really looked the same. He's at times not
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: you know, I mean, drifting into pressure, those things that
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: we saw a few times in the old I think
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: he did. I agree, but I thought that was one
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: of his real strengths to his game last year was
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: his pocket presence. Um, but I don't think it has
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: been in the early going. Uh. Denise writes in I'm
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: one hundred percent for getting Mac back when one hundred
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: percent healthy. I hope Zappy's success has lit a fire
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: under him and gave him more some new perspective on
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: how this offense should operate. Good feeling to know we
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: have a I'll back up going forward, keep up the
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: well balanced conversation, guys, I listened faithfully year around. I
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: live in Florida, born in mass and you guys keep
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: me connected to my roots. Oh, thank you, Denise. So
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: I like that. I like that email, um, mostly because
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: of the nice things she said about us. But I'm
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: just curious if you guys feel like, um, there's a
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: fire that needs to be lit. I mean, I would
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: hope that I hadn't not really I mean, I think
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: he just needs to play better. I feel like Mac
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: is a real motivated kid. I mean, it seems like
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: all offseason he was real motivated. Every time you saw him.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: He's flying somewhere working with guys. I don't do, friend,
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: I don't know. Maybe maybe there is. It's just it's
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: more it's less a fire than more confident, like I'm
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: doing it as much as he could. Maybe maybe he
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: thought he achieved something that he hadn't. Maybe, I mean,
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: I get what you get what you're getting at, because
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: I don't say your answer to your answer to me
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: was my answer. Yeah, I don't think motivation is a problem.
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: I don't think you needed a fire to be lit
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: under him. I mean, up until camp, everything that I
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: have first, which was fourteen, Tom Brady need a fire
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: lit under him. Yeah, I think he got lazy. I
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: don't know. I think he got a little lazy. You know,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: those things that we gave him a lot of credits
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: earlier in about the parking space and stuff no longer
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: became important. Do you think he's going through some of
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: that stuff right now? Maybe? But so if the greatest
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: of all time occasionally needs a fire lit, maybe a
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: young guy does too. But ten years after I don't know,
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: maybe I'm saying maybe, but maybe a guy who won
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: multiple MVPs in Super Bowls was entitled to maybe take
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: his foot off the gas a little bit in the
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: offseason and then yeah, he got a little poker to
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: consider the age and his contract. Right. No, but like
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: I mean, I know you're trying to like set me up,
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: like you think you're you're winning the up, but like
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: even bringing up the name in the stature that he
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: had at the time is laughable that this guy would
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: even be having to be thought of that Belichick has
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: to do some of the same kind of tactics. And
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: I don't know how you can look at that and
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: say equivocally, like unequivocally, there is no no need for
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: him to be humbled, no problems with his motivation, No,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: I mean, no problems with his ego. Like and you're saying,
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: we'll de beliate de Brady need to be poked. Yeah,
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: I kind of think he did. But if he thought
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: similarly about Mac, and that's what like Bailey Zappy is
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: serving as garoppolo to Mac right now, you don't think
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: there's a huge difference there, Well, he drafted Garoppolo and
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: Zappy is in because he's hurt. No, But my point is,
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: I know, if there's if there's a notion that it's
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: good that he's getting this little poke like he shouldn't
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: have needed it. Well, I'm saying he hasn't accomplished anything
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: is the first. But if he was forever but one
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: guy is one of m vps and super Bowls. But
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: and he maybe got a little bit last. If he's
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: if he's if he's frustrated, if he's questioning things, maybe
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: this tells him. You know what, I gotta get over it.
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: I get to get over that, and I just got
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: to go play and don't worry about it. Listen. I
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: remember back when Bledsoe was in a funk and Borges
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: talked to Mac, you know, Mac bledso his dad and
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: Mac you know, and Mac called Drew and told Drew,
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: you know, just go out there and have fun, don't
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: worry about it. And Drew even said that he goes.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: That was a big conversation that helped me, and he
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: turned like he started playing better after that. You know,
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: so who knows? Who knows? We don't know, I mean,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: and I can only speak from what I've seen, and
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: you know, I just think or what I've seen and heard,
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: I think Mac has done everything that you could possibly
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: ask from him, and all this other stuff. You know,
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: he just has to play better. And I mean, you know,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: I think sophomore slumps or a thing for a reason,
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: and there were a lot of changes this year, and
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: you know, I definitely willing to give him a little
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: bit of leeway, but I'd like to see him back
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: soon and you know, get him on track, because I yeah,
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: I think Paul's right. I think that they he wants
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: to get back out there, and oh, there's no doubt.
- 1:30:58Speaker 1: I just I wonder what the coaching staff how they're
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: going to And it's that situation too, you know, if
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: nothing else, if all this does is just tell him, Mac,
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: forget about all this, just just go out there and play,
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: all right, just do what they say, go out If
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: that's if that's all he gets out of this, I
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: think that's a good thing. Yeah. And what else is
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: surprising to me about it, though, is I just feel
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: like this is one of the first times Mac Jones
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: has gone into a season with clarity. You know, other
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: seasons he's gone in he's going to be the backup somewhere,
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: got you're coming into a competition, all those kind of things,
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: like he had that clarity of this is my job.
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: I am firmly entrenched here, and it seemed like he
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: approached it that way too lately. He you know, he
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: wanted to be a lead dip and you needed him
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: to and you know, I always go back all offseason.
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: It's just he was the most important piece, you know,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: this year, and that's you know, it's just surprising to
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: hear some of these stories of otherwise on the surface,
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: it would appear that that he's kind of doing everything right. Reno.
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: Let's see, yeah, Reno writes in in Knoxville, Tennessee. I
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: feel like I'm either really stubborn or the only person
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: who doesn't see it. With Zappy, he played well, but
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: I'm not seeing this superstar everyone else is seeing. I know,
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: no one actually called him one, but they're acting like
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: we found another diamond. Mac made some mistakes, but he
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: also made great throws as well. It should be his job,
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: So there's another one for Matt. And that's just what
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: I keep coming back to. It's like, are either one
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: of these guys going to get you back? To the
- 1:32:18Speaker 1: top five seven teams in the league. That that's what
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: really matters. I mean, Otherwise, I just I don't see
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: a whole lot of difference. I don't know. I mean,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: I'm hoping that Matt comes back and that he achieves
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: this new level and it starts to click for him
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: and we, you know, are able to see this offense
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: progressing and getting better. But I mean, I can't lie
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: that I don't see worlds of difference between them when
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: it comes to skills and stuff. Yeah, And that's why
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: I think there's a conversation. Yeah, yeah, because if I
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: thought the guy the incumbent was like much more skilled,
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: I would I would say, well, you know, yeah to
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: no brainer. Charlie writes into Tamara's point in Mike's comment yesterday,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: if they think they need to reduce the offense to
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: Zappie style slash max offense from last year, they need
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: to try to acquire a new quarterback in the draft
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: and offseason. You can't win playoff games or games against
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: quality teams consistently that way. You need a quarterback to
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: come from behind and push the ball down field. That
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: being said, I thought he looked good in the Ravens
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: game mental Eira's aside, So more of that would be
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: great to see when he's back. Yeah, absolutely, And that
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: that game's unfortunate. How it just I think that the
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: rails fell off and then he got hurt, and now
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: that's that's kind of what you're left with and lasting
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: image in your brain of mac unfortunate and what I
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: would worry about what that is, how sustainable with some
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: of the plays that he made, you know, because I
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: think there's a fine line on some of those, Like I,
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: like I said, that's the best I've seen him play.
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: The first two and a half quarters of the Ravens
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: game were the best I've seen him play, and it's
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: the best the offense has looked in twenty twenty two.
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: But I wonder if you're just sort of inevitably going
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: to find what happened the rest of that game if
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: you play like that all the time. And I don't
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: have the answer to that, by the way, because I
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: don't pretend to be, you know, I a coach. I
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: get your point, And part of it might be the
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: play design and what they're calling, because you know, as
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: you said, last week was zappy. It seemed like there
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: were a lot of things that were well run and
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: we're well designed and got guys wide open and were
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: easy throws for him. And I think, to your point, Paul,
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: a lot of a lot of Max throws, though impressive,
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: are very very tight, very tight throws downfield, contested catches,
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: those kind of things. We had to talk about sustainable
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: and it's like there's also part of me that just
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: wants to see Mac, you know, marry these two approaches
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: and go back to, you know, what was working last
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: year and really try to exploit the underneath. So they
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: have part Thornton. I'm just excited to see what they
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: do with Thornton once they get him back. Let's get
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: back to the phones. They're stacking up again. We'll go
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: to CJ in Atlanta. What's up, CJ? Hey, how's it going? Guy? Good?
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Um So, I guess on the Max Dappy stuff, I
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: think there's some variables in there that kind of make
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: it difficult to make it this like the defensive play
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: it's supposed supposed to approve and what else. Uh uh oh, yeah,
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: the opponent four season is supposed to be like the preseason, right,
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: so we've only had two. Um So also a quick question.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: What's going on with the trade Nixon? I thought I
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: would see more that's him. I guess, uh, well, after
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: how many receivers are you gonna have active? You know,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: it's true, it's a numbers game, practice squad. But I
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: mean maybe with Born, if if Born and Agil couldn't
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: go this week, then yeah, so now maybe he gets
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: elevator or if someone gets traded, I mean the trade
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: deadlines in a couple of weeks, you seem like you
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: have a surplus there, then yep. Maybe if you feel
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: good about Nixon, you trade one of those and you
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: have a layer of depth in case someone gets hurt. Yep,
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: so you know he could play. But right now it's
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: I mean, you got too many receivers, you know, no difference.
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: Thanks c J. Let's go to Danielle in Illinois. What's up, Danielle? Hey, guys,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: what's it going good? So I haven't called in a
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: long time, but um again, I'm Chicago area, so I
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: watched a lot of Bears games. Unfortunately, like my Patriots,
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: doesn't really play around here, so I missed the first
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: half of the show. I'm still trying to catch up,
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: so I'm sorry if you guys already touched on it,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: but I heard a lot about everybody keeps saying, you know,
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: picking on the weak teams and all this kind of stuff.
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: But I don't know if these guys watched a lot
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: of Bears games. But from what I've seen, especially last year,
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: they only lost or won by you know, a couple points.
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: But it seems like Fields kind of turns up the
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: heat when they you know, like when it gets towards
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: the end they're losing. He really he really brings the
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: heat that starts making some praise. And I know, like
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: the Browns, I kinda I hate to jump the gump,
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: but I was like, yeah, we should have this game,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: you know. But the Bears, I mean, their defense is
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: pretty solid. So if we can't get open or you
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: know what, I'm thinking, maybe interceptions if they do try
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: and make some passes, but if they try to do
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: a lot of n plays, they might get shut down.
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: The Bears has a pretty good defense from what you know,
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: I've been seeing this year and last year, and it
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: seems like Fields can kind of turn it up a
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: little bit. And I don't really want to say that
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: they're that bad of a team. I know, like the
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: standings show everything, you know, But I mean when you
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: actually watch them play and you see how we've been playing,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: it's kind of like, I don't know if you've guys
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: are thinking the same way, but I don't. I know
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: you guys aren't counting it out, but um, you know,
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: I keep hearing a lot about the week teams, and
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: I don't know how we should, how we should you know,
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: have it kind of thing, and well, let's just pick
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: on the week teams. But I don't think the Bears
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: are honestly as weak as everybody. Yeah, well, you obviously
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: watch them a lot closer than I do. But when
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: I've watched them, they look completely and utterly inept. And
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: Fred feel free to blom me next week if something
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: horribly goes wrong, because I don't think this is the
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: one game when the schedule, I said, is unlosable. Yeah,
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: I think that can't lose to a team that doesn't
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: throw the ball. I think that, yeah, And I think
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: right now, and you might be right, Danielle about their defense,
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: but right now their quarterback is playing worse than Jacobe Brissette,
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: and you saw what happened with that. He doesn't I
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: wouldn't even say he's playing worse. He doesn't get to
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: play right, Like, he doesn't even get to know. Maybe
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: that's because of him. Yeah, I don't know, because I
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: don't watch close enough, but he does not attempt twenty
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: passes a game like you can't win in the NFL.
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: Consistently doing that. You can win a game we make
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: if we make some of those sloppy plays that I've seen,
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: you know, penalties or just floppy playing. I mean, it
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: just takes a couple of those to turn the game. Listen, Danielle.
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: If they play like that, they can lose to any one.
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: If you turn anyone over, you can lose anyone, right Yeah,
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: So yeah, I mean I just wouldn't shut them out. Okay,
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: all right, what do you think? You know, it's not Thursday.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: Usually we do our picks, But what's your what's your
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: pick for and score for the game? What do you think? Oh, gosh,
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: put you on the spot. I know, I don't um.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: I think I think it's gonna be a lot of
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: field goals. So, I mean, I don't even know if
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: I can give you a definitive maybe let's say I'm
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: gonna go if you're wrong, nothing happened. It's gonna use
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: my friend line right there. Well, this isn't the price,
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: that's right, perfect timing. We probably won't even remember. Just
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: just yeah, let's let's go. Just say Patriots by and
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: give me a number. Okay, I'll say I think I
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: think it might be close. I'll just say Patriots by three. Okay,
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: all right, sounds good. Thanks, Danielle. Appreciate this game by
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: a field goal and Mac Jones plays look out. I'm
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: with you, Paul. I mean I think the way the
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: Patriots defense is playing right now, I mean I don't.
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: I don't have a lot of confidence yet in them
- 1:39:53Speaker 1: unless it's okay, yeah, I think this defense will shut
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: them down though. Patty's an agawam. What's up? Patty up? Guys? Hey,
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: hey Betty, did you guys talk about this whole Ben
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: Bolin situation? Then? Oh, you missed the first half of
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: the show, guy, I did. I'm sorry. I'll go back
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: on the replay. Paul and I got into it all right,
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: So I'll ask this question I was gonna ask yesterday too, though,
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: do you guys think that um, just in two almost
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: three games, that Billy Zappy could have possibly won over
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: the locker room, as you know, or it took Mac
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: like almost a whole year in an off season to
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: to win that over become a captain. Then you know
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: what won over the locker room winning They won some games. Yeah,
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: I know. No, I think and I think the team
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: like Mac last year. I think they got like the
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: team says a lot. I mean, I don't really go
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: for what is being said. I say this all the time.
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: I'm very consistent. I don't really listen to a lot.
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: But the team has nothing but great things to say
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: about Mac Jones, right, Like, I just don't think they
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: would say much if they if they, if they really
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: felt the opposite, right, they'd be quiet. I don't think
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: you'd hear it. Yeah yeah yeah. And the Sites and
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: Sounds video from from this past game too, where you
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: saw a few shots of Mac, he didn't look like
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: a malcontent. It looks like he was hearing his teammates
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: son and being a good team player, you know, to me, so,
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: I don't think anyone's ever called him a malcontent. Yeah yeah,
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: well all right, thanks, that's next year. Him and Robbie Anderson,
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: Chris is if you let this go on much longer,
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: that's next. Chris is in Fort Lauderdale. What's up, Chris? Hey, guys,
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: I'm just checking in. I kind of missed the beginning
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: of the show. Is Paul still running his pole? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: you want to get on his pole? Right? Get on
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: the pole? Well, do you want the big one or
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: the little one? It's been getting bigger. I'm gonna put
- 1:41:57Speaker 1: my hat in for mac Jones. Still. Um, I really
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: like what I'm seeing from Zappy. Still voting for the
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: Democratic President. Patriots, so multiple I welcome to controversy. Um,
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: I have a question for for Fred. Actually I need
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: Fred's help, don't we all? He controls the first six.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: The other day I was with one of my best
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: friends and I mentioned to him that the Patriots podcast
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: I listened to eight hours a week, Um, is the
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: original podcast on the Internet. World's Original World. That's correct,
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: World World, Original World, Original podcast. Yeah, it's funny. I
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: thought we were having a fire alarm for a second.
- 1:42:39Speaker 1: He blew me up and came after me because I
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: didn't have any sources, and so if you could provide
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: me some sources to defend myself, go to Wikipedia, my
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: best friend and in fact, wait, why why can't Why
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: can't you just be this way? Um, Matt, do you
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: have that um uh CBS thing? Okay, listening. When Matt
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: finds it, he'll play it. But we were mentioned on
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: what's it CBS This Morning or something like that or
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: face the name, I don't know, one of those news
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: shows that you know. The guy mentioned that we were
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: there the first. Okay, okay, and I know it's see
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: here here's the actual truth. We weren't the first. It
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: was another one that was before us. It was called
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: like Vinyl Underground or something like that, but it stopped.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: We we are the longest running, continuously running podcast. Um,
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: you know, but we were close to being the first,
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: but we're we're the only we're the longest running in
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: the world period. All right, Well, that that helps, and
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: I really appreciate that you guys have the best show
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: as well as longest running. So thank you and I'll
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: take it off here, all right, Thanks Chris. Thanks Chris.
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: I don't know how that's gonna go when he goes
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: to explain to his frankly what Fred said. No, it's
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: not actually the first, but longest running. Well, we do
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: have that clip, yeah, from that show and on Wikipedia.
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: It says where the original. If I was on the
- 1:44:04Speaker 1: other side of that argument, Wikipedia would not be a
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: valid source, but that clip would be. Yeah, guys talking
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: about it. Although how did it all come about? Did
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: they check Wikipedia? They get the information because that's what
- 1:44:18Speaker 1: Robert Craft told him. You want to do a little game. Oh,
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: I love games. This one's a little harder, Okay, I
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: don't like them when they're reasy. Okay. I hope this
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: will be better than the last one I sent a
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: few weeks when Fred gave me a c um. This
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: is Neil and Warwick. It's a little rude um one.
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: I played with Mike Vicket Virginia Tech. We're going back.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: I was a journeyman, like most players at my position.
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: That's a hint though, Like most players at my position, journeyman.
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: So kicker, kicker, well war quarterback. Maybe most quarterbacks are journeyman.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: Well if if if if there If someone's described as
- 1:45:05Speaker 1: a journeyman, it's usually a kicker or a quarterback, you know,
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: like Ryan Fitzpatrick. Ryan Fitzpatrick is absolutely a journeyman, you know.
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: But anyway, okay, I'm gonna need one final one. I
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: also played with a Patriots wide receiver who came in
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: a year after me. What is that a Virginia Tech Yeah,
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: I guess so, yeah, oh yeah, okay, I guess, so
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. Shane Graham's a kick kicker. Yeah,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: like filling guy right. A couple of times he the
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: first time guests could get hurt. Yeah, but he's played.
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: He had a long time, a long time Bengals. Let's
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: see the second one. I was an undrafted free agent
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: that went to a school that Bill loves. So there's
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: a few of them. There's a few of them. All right,
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: I'm on the track. I won a super Bowl in
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: my time in the NFL, but not with the pat
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: It's it's it's a very that's could be anyone, and
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: then part and then the final one. I was part
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: of the eighteen and one team m two thousand and
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: seven three two Kyle eckel Navy guy right two more. Um,
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: I was thinking of a Rutgers guy too. I was
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: also an undrafted free agent that went to the same
- 1:46:29Speaker 1: school as the Kelsey brothers. Mike right, Mike Right is correct? Wow,
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: good Paul to Cincinnati. Final one. My first name is
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: a famous saying by a famous chef right good good Mike.
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: See how we just used We used my like useless
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: trivia with right right. That was great because we really
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: dropped the ball early. We didn't. We still got SI.
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: I don't think I would have gotten any circumstance. But
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: I mean in retester, now that you know the answer,
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: tremendous clues like a school that Bill loves good. There
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: is no school that Bill loves more than Navy. You
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: got an A. Now. I was thinking first, I was
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: like in the SEC, I was thinking like Georgia Alabama.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: Then I was like, oh no, no loves Rutgers. I
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: fixated on Rutgers, and I couldn't think of an undrafted
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: free agent that we had gotten from Rutgers. That's what
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: my brain was too. But Navy, that's an excellent clue
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: for that. For Kyle Eckle, I just I dropped the ball.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: Mica in Delaware, um says uh put me down for
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: mac Zappy definitely took someone's job over the past couple
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: of games, but that person was Brian hoy or s
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: QB two. Max should continue to start once healthy. I'm
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: hoping he can improve on his turnovers and be more
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: willing to take what the defense gives him. But if
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: he can't, at least we'll know what he is and
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: we can look forward to a quarter back camp battle
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: next year. There is I think there's a chance that
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: you're going to get a significant amount of buzz about
- 1:48:09Speaker 1: let's let's just just game it. Hypothetically Mac returns this week,
- 1:48:13Speaker 1: No plays the rest of the season. Hypothetically, Let's say
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: Mac is no better than Zappy. Is it a camp
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: battle or are we looking for a quarterback? No? I
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: love your scenario. I am looking for a quarterback. They
- 1:48:29Speaker 1: have a camp battle, okay, right, right? But but if Mac,
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: let's say, plays it out, I think we're all in
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: the eight and nine nine and eight area. Perhaps, like
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: if they play okay, let's say eight and nine missed
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: the playoffs, doesn't really show the ability to beat any
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: of the good teams. They beat the bad teams, They
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: had opportunities with a good quarterback, could have won it.
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: They just they can't beat Buffalo twice, They split with
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: the Jets, maybe even they get the Dolphins at the end,
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: but they just fall short of the playoffs. You know, then,
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: then I think it's a tough question, because then I'm
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: in my place, Like I said earlier, of I like him,
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: but is he going to be the guy to get
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: you to the next level? And if you have two
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: years of not really showing a come from behind when uh,
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: you know, knocking off a good team and just really
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: lightening up a good defense, then then I think it's
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: it gets a little bit interesting, like you know, and
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: then you got zappy year two, all all the things
- 1:49:18Speaker 1: he probably does this offseason to improve Hope, Polly, Mike,
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: and Michigan face value. If Mac is ready, I'd go
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: with him. The timetable for knowing about him is more
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: crucial beyond this year when you take into consideration the
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: fifth year option. If there are background shenanigans, though, that
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: could trump the above statement. Yep, if this stuff going
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: on in the background, it's just a little tweet here,
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: real quick, Reese saying bar Moore popped into the locker
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: room during media access today so our reporters and quickly
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: returned to the athletic tramp. That's funny. But he said,
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: if his sudden change of direction is any indication, he
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: appears to avoid it a major injury. So I guess
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: that's that's true. But at the same time. I don't know. Yeah,
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: that's true. I don't think he has a major injury,
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: because all you guys were telling me that he was
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: on the sideline looking to try to get back in
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: the game. But I, like, I've been so fooled by
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: guys appearances in the locker room. I completely eliminate that
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: as a possible. You know, when you have that same
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: injury and it's nagging and a force you to come
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: out of a game, like taking a game off, will
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: that help you be more solid going forward? You know?
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: And that might be the reason to not play him
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: this week. Yeah, he was. He was playing really well.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: I thought, just he just looked like he was really
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: being able to overwhelm the guys trying to block him.
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: And it's all about leverage. If you don't have two knees,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: it's tough to have leverage, you know. Joe Tuney has
- 1:50:36Speaker 1: been gone for two years now. Fred, I mean, come on,
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: week Oh that's good though, that's bad, good dad joke
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: Week weeks So I didn't love it. Week Saw. Sometimes
- 1:50:46Speaker 1: you just got to throw them out there. Don't see
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: what happens. No, you don't, I really don't. I saw
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: one on Twitter Sting has been kidnapped. The police don't
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: have a lead. Not bad. Yeah, that's not bad. He
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: doesn't get it staying the lead Sting on police. Ah,
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: I got you. I go wow. I had to go
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: back to the Thults thing. Yeah, okay, the wrestler, Okay,
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: the Sting. Did you know that? Basically, I think one
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: of the first podcasts was launched by the New England
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: Patriots in August of two thousand. They did a show
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: called PFW in Progress and it was a live show
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: that was recorded and you could get it on demand
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: at Patriots dot com. Um. So, I don't know if
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: that technically counts as a podcast, but I wow, I
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: think that it was one of the first you know
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: or advise for some space in the beginning of this
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: of this form um. I think it interestingly, that's the year.
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: That's the year Tom Brady was drafted to Everyone sort
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: of credits him for turning the fortunes of the Patriots
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: around after years of an aptitude. But maybe it was
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: the podcast that was Mark Leibovich, who had you Know
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: author New York Times writer, and the other guy was
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: the guy from CBS who hosts you Know on Face
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: the Nation. I believe, you know, and that's their podcast,
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: son any no, no more information as opposeds. I think
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: I believe. I'm pretty okay, Yeah, I know the Slate podcast.
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: The Slate. Um, I don't think it was national television
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: like Face the Nation. No, he absolutely the person on
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: this Slate podcast hosts Face the Nation. Okay, okay, yeah,
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: don't doubt me. Um. Linda from Boston writes in forget
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: about Me, Bro, forget ben voland most Globe readers do.
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: I agree. I'm now on team Zappy because he is
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: as talented as Mac. If I'm understanding Evan correctly and
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: is willing to run Matt Patricia's offense, if he's going
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: to be Brady twenty nineteen without being Brady, then I
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: think we should stick with Bailey Zappy. Note to Fred
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Albert bris said on Monday that the team wanted Mac
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: to have surgery and Mac did not. He was on
- 1:53:03Speaker 1: the Dan Patrick Show. Check it out. Okay, okay, that's
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: the way it's been explained to me. That's why I
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: asked you if you had any information that had it
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: the other way. No, I the only information I had
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: was the guy he went for the second opinion was
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: the tight rope guy, right, And I think that's why
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: he went for the second opinion, because he knew that
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: they wanted him to have surgery. And then he said, Okay,
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: I'm not gonna do it. Do me a favor. Just
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: go talk to my guy, you know a little bit,
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: tell you what's up. But again, I'm good, this is
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: what happened. Like, you don't have any information, so you're
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: forced to sort of try to extrapolate off a speculation. Yea,
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: and none of us has it exactly right. No, I
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: mean we're stuck debating who wants Mac back faster? Does
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: Mac want to come back faster? Does the team want
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: him to get surgery to come back faster? And like
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: I said, I know I sound like a mac apologist
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: when I keep saying it. I totally would feel that
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: way about anybody saying if I don't have to, Like,
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: you tear an ACL, you can't come back and play
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: until you get it repaired. You break a bone, you
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: need a cast to have the bone, you know, repaired.
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: With this high ankle sprain, you can get a tight
- 1:54:12Speaker 1: road surgery, which we're learning about that we didn't really
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: have any information on before now or you can let
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: it heal and unless it's like you can have surgery
- 1:54:24Speaker 1: in me back in four weeks, or you can let
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: it heal and you're done for the season. If I'm
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: an athlete, I'm going to say I'm going to let
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: it heal. If the difference is negligible, maybe I'm back
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: a week or two earlier with the surgery. I have
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: to think that any doctor would tell you let it
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: heal if you don't have to go. We don't have to, right,
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: don't don't right? They always do that, Michael says. With
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: many teams that were predicted to come out of the
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: gate looking pretty average right now Broncos, Bucks, Raiders, Miami,
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: does this change the playoffs scenario? Do we have a
- 1:54:56Speaker 1: better road now? Oh? Boy, I think your road is
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: any different. But the road in the AFC in general,
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: I thought was going to be deep and it still
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: looks top heavy to me. It kind of looks like
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: last year. Like I think you have Buffalo in Kansas City.
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: I still think Cincinnati's pretty good, even though they have
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: a middling record. I think they're working through some stuff
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: and they're getting closer. But I don't really think Indio,
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: Tennessee is a threat in the South. I don't think
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: there's anything to worry about in the South. I think
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: Baltimore is still pretty good. They got to figure out
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: how to hold a lead. You know, Baltimore's had Did
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: you know this, Fred Baltimore's had a double digit lead
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: in every game this year in their three and three Wow. Wow,
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: bad coaching. Yeah, maybe it's maybe it's pass passed them by.
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: Maybe it's passed them by. Maybe he's i mean, maybe
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: not passing them by, but maybe he's losing the room
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: a little bit. He changed the defensive coordinator and they
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: can't hold a ten point lead. Yeah, yeah, this is
- 1:55:57Speaker 1: a good one. Ryan says. I understand all the hot
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: takery after such a game, but the fact that one
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: of the pillars of this great organization added another win
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: to his impressive career total, it was barely acknowledged by
- 1:56:08Speaker 1: you yesterday was disappointing. Bailey acknowledged. Oh my god, Bailey's
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: appy second professional win in his current place should have
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: been sorry, you've got me? Then the meager one hundred
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: and eighteen minutes devoted on Tuesday, you got me? Be better,
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: he says. Excellent email, and my sir, hats off. PS,
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: it's Mac Jones. Hands down. Why are we even doing this?
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: And I have you down for a Mac vote, but
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: I am so impressed on it's rare. And then he
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: pulled the rug out. Yes, and I'm so jealous, so jealous.
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: That was very well done. All right, story caps six
