Latest / 3 Yards Per Carry - Miami Dolphins / 3YPC-Camp Report 8-3-26
Transcript
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we're on this is the cap report for August the third 2026 first day of pads so we have a pad to practice and we did get someone on once which is kind of cool to see right.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if I must tell you how I watch practice, it's a little bit different than most of the people, how they watch practice.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: Usually when the 101s come on, a lot of the fans want to see the receivers go up against DBs, I don't care.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_01]: For the most part, I never look at that whatsoever, because
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I just, you know, I check in with other beat writers like, hey, you know, how did this go?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: Did the receivers win?
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: You know, because the receivers can't beat your, your DBs one on one against air with no pass rush.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: Then you got serious problems.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: But I really don't really care at all about one on ones, as far as it comes to wide receivers and DBs, I do care a great deal.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: What it comes to offensive linemen and defensive linemen.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: So every time we have one of ones we're in pads, I get my binoculars and I train them on the offensive and defensive line.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see who wins, who loses, who uses technique correctly, who uses technique incorrectly.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: And so on and so forth.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: I have a few notes and then I'm just going to give you some broad strokes of how most of it went.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: First rep was Caden Proctor, Zach Sealer, and he completely stones them.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: Zach Sealer, I guess, tries a bull rush, tries to disengage, and Proctor just holds them up.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, exceptionally strong, and a little bit more on Proctor in a second.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: Kenneth Grant tries to swim move on Myers, and he wins clean, gets past.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: Very next rep. Kenneth Grant gains leverage on Jonah Savaya and I.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, Jonah was not bad on the 101's, but he did lose that rep against Kenneth Grant.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, look, he didn't get past him, didn't try, he didn't go in his bag and, you know, get in on the quarterback.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't look at that stuff like that.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: When I write Kenneth Grant Gaines leverage on Jonah's survive and I, all it means is,
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: He gained leverage, meaning he reestablished the line of scrimmage three yards deeper.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: And that's never a good thing because quarterbacks when they get to the end of their drop, they don't want trash at their feet and it definitely don't want trash in their face.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: Especially when trying to get the ball off and Malik Wilson's not the tallest guy in the world 6-1 on a good day.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: So deep vis of tackles in his face, not a good thing, right?
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: So Kenneth Green I thought had a very good session in one-on-one.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to give him the win against Jonas by now.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: Austin Jackson grabbed a couple of wins against Biel and lesser talents, more on Austin Jackson in a second.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: Patrick Paul wins a clean rep on chop robbers and chop
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: a little dip and rip and Paul just snatched him and as soon as he snatched him, he just rides him right out of the play.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: Very very clean rep for Patrick Paul.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: I enjoyed watching him today.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: He was very very good.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: Joshua J wins inside on Heck, Charlie Heck, more on him a little bit and a little bit.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: Very nice little insights when move and beat some clean right in on the quarterback.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: Patrick Paul Malls O'Jabo.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: And when I say malls, a job, you know, tries to pull rush, change this plan, mid, you know, mid rush, he decides I'm going to change my rush plan here and I'm going to try to take them outside on a rip.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: And Paul just grabs them, centers them once again.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: And essentially, a job is, is left trying every trick in his bag, tries to spin move goes nowhere.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_01]: Very, very good rep by Patrick Paul.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: I thought the winners really were, we're not left side, Patrick Paul.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: to close out that sequence of one-on-one.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: It was Cleveland Ferrell, who beats Austin Jackson outside.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: We do have some 11 on 11 and I'm not going to take you through the plays.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_01]: You saw my plays, I tried to give as detailed a play by play as I could, on X and I gave you some
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'll talk a little bit about the offensive line.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: Also Jackson's, Austin Jackson got some snaps off, and then he was pulled.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: and I'm not sure if it was an injury or who knows what it was, but I kind of figured out what the play was because it was the last play that he played on.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: He gets beat up field by Uche, and he tries to ride his guy out, but Uche actually was chopped.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: Chop rides him out,
- 5:13[SPEAKER_01]: and also Jackson kind of collides with Sims as Willa steps up into the pocket and delivers the deep ball to Malik Washington and you guys saw that guy Tommy and Hayalia.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: Today he was like I guess behind the offense like that guy's a wonder.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: Jesus Christ that guy that I told the
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Dude put up little legitimately 22 plays all from the quarterback field Like unbelievable, you know, and and we have NFL guidelines of what we can and can't report.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: One of them is that we can't give you real-time Updates on injuries, but I can't tell you.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah Austin Jackson left good news is he still had his helmet
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Better news is he was still with his unit.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: Even better news is that he only left the field after practice.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: When practice ended he got together with some of his family friends and family and he jogged slowly off the field into the indoor.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: We will learn more tomorrow.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: In his absence
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, what can I say?
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: Guy, they got issues, right?
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: Charlie Heck came in in his absence because Jamari Sawyer hasn't been available, right?
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: So if Jamari Sawyer is not available, you're down to OT4 to play that spot and look for,
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you're down to offensive tackle four, it's not going to be good.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: There is no offensive tackle four in the NFL.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's any good, okay?
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes have two really good tackles and they have a third that they kind of trust.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody has a fourth because it's just not that many offensive linemen in the NFL that are any good.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so if you're down OT4, you got issues.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're trying to void us to have, you know, essentially, Armageddon go off in your backfield, right?
- 7:13[SPEAKER_01]: So you want a guy who's going to be at least competent.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: Charlie Heck was not that.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Charlie Heck was beat consistently by Chop Robinson, and Joshua Che, Clayton Ferrell, everybody took turns, and Malik Wallace, I thought.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Man, some really good signs out there today.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I understand people have been burned before and you really haven't been burned.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_01]: You just you have a drought at quarterback going here for a very very long time But you did get good quarterback play for a three-year stretch here with to a song of a law.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: He just got injured and Pretty much essentially done But Malik will us today man facing some pressure He's drifting in the pocket creating a little bit of space
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: and delivering the football down field.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: And if this is something that's gonna continue to happen, like these are really, really good signs.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: He did a beautiful ball.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm telling you, a beautiful ball.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: He felt the pressure coming off of his right side and he started drifting to the left.
- 8:18[SPEAKER_01]: It also helped that Patrick Paul and Ken Proctor had it held down on the left side, right?
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Which allowed him to step up a little bit to deliver the ball.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: Down the field, in stride the Malik Washington, who was working all the way across the field.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: drop set in right behind what look like zone coverage.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: I can't give you specifics on the coverage.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just say the pass was better than I'm telling you, okay?
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm pretty sure if you check Tommy and Hiles Fias feed, he probably has video of that past, okay?
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Those are very well delivered past complete big game in excess of 25 yards.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: I gave it about 30 because they
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: So very nice pass by Malik was I thought he was really good today.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, who's also really good today.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he had command when you were as I thought had command said it on the defensive side of that terrible thoughts and had a good day today and he did get an interception of look, Malik will just get gets moved off of his spot.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: on another rush where there's trash at his feet coming from top province, and once again over the right side, Charlie Hick just couldn't handle uh, rushers on that end.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: And Malik was supposed to give his guy a chance, right?
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: So he throws it throws it low and a way to call Turner away from the coverage.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're thinking, this is a completion or an incompletion.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is literally a very low
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: Somehow, he throws a low in a way, hits him in both hands, and Cole Turner goes down to get it to secure it for what would have been somewhere around a six-yard game, and he pops it up, Terald Dots, and grabs it, and he hustles down the sideline for what appears to be a pick six.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Great time, King of Proctor gave Chase to try to knock him out of bounds at around the two or three yard line.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: But,
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: We'll give him the pick six on the play.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: I thought Dodson was pretty damn good today.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: And against the run, Jacob Rodriguez had a couple of moments, but I thought Caluas had a really very, very nice.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, I can give you which teams they're playing against, but I thought I did have Caluas with a stop on Ali Gordon on an outside run.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: Jalen Wright for whatever reason decided to try to hurdle Alex Austin in the situationals late in practice and he got upended so I guess you could call that the hit of the day did did do situationals at the end and I'll give you some play by play on that one as well.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: uh... one twenty left there was a minute twenty left the ball was on their own thirty and they're just trying to get it into field goal range against a kick the field goal we did get uh... kind of a field goal battle today was in Gonzalez and Raleigh Patterson was perfect three for three zinc Gonzalez was three for four the one that he missed was from fifty
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: And he just missed it.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: He missed it left, but they made the rest.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: All the field goals were 50 plus 50 plus Yard tries.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: There was two.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Each guy tried from 52, both made it from 52.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: The rest of the field goal tries were from 50.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_01]: And the way they were doing it was that they had the situational as a clock ticked down.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: Because, you know, sometimes they did a restart for Willis, they did no restart.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Willis just had the one run.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: The one drive, which was with 120 left.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: Balls on the 30 at first and 10.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: First pass.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: Willis over throws Douglas.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Douglas on a corner out.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: Very next pass.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: He hits Sims on a bowing to the 44 yard line.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Then he hits Rieger to the plus 45 with 33 seconds left.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: They have a fall start on Austin Jackson at the time.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm sorry, that one was on Patrick Paul consulting my notes here.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Was the scape's hits turner for a game to the 38-yard line with 18 seconds left?
- 12:23[SPEAKER_01]: Checkstown the HN who runs out of bounds with 13 seconds left.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Last pass and incomplete pass to Sims down the seam.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: They try the field goal with no time left and it's good.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: The very next one was Quinn Ewers and on the very first play, he tries to throw some type of deep on the restart, tries to hit two to outwell.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of like a corner route, but two to two is like trying to work the red line and then trying to create space to try to get it toward the sideline.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_01]: Very safe pass.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: but it was nothing but safe.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: It was the first play of situations with 120 left at their own 30 named to drive for a field goal and it's broken up by major burns.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's tipped up in the air.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: Ethan Bonner comes over and intercepts it and game over.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: So they did the restart and then that's when you were just hit a few check-downs.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't necessarily come close to setting up for 52 yards, but they set it up for 52 yards.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: And on that one, Riley Patterson puts it through the uprides.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're going to go to break and when we come back, we will take your questions on the other set of the break.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_00]: But first, these words.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're back and I don't know if you can hear it, but you can hear the the rain drops outside the thunder.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: The weather reports have been pretty damn accurate.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_01]: At least on my weather app.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: I use IQ other Pretty damn accurate.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: Every day I keep checking like a man is going to be bad weather because I want to see what they do, right?
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see if they're actually going to go inside To practice or they're going to practice out in in the rain because if you've been down here, man, it's It's been a rainy mess every single afternoon and sure enough today is said all the rains coming around one o'clock
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: And it actually got delayed an hour.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: It came around two o'clock.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: I'm right now.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's all hell's breaking loose outside.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: So we've had pretty much Good weather every single day and today there was actually kind of like a light breeze when we were out there.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: Pleasant conditions for practice today.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I'll take your questions.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: First question, any noticeable impacts from any other rookies outside of the two first rounders, the two first rounders being, of course, Kate and Proctor, Chris Johnson, J. Rod, Caleb Douglas and Taffs, day one in or such, anything notable from Kyle Lewis, something notable from Kyle Lewis, yes, he's done a lot of special teams.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: He did have that one run stuff on all the Gordon today on a not-side run, good-looking play.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: They kind of loaded a linebacker, a lot of bodies, so it's hard to get noticed there because you're not going to get in against the best talent.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: Michael Taff, outside of that day one interception of which Jeff Haffley said that he was actually wrong in the coverage, been kind of quiet, they're, they're, you know, they're using a lot of safety, let's just say that, they're using a lot of different safety, rotating them in and out from all the teams and again, I can't tell you per NFL reporting guidelines.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: I can't tell you who was first team, who was second team, who was 13.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: but you could guess like down to trade are gonna play a lot right and he's been playing a lot Michael Taffes another guy who's been playing a lot.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: Outside of the other two first runners he mentions Caleb Douglas Caleb Douglas is essentially why receiver.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: Well I don't want to call him why receiver one because Malik Washington is actually leading the team in Target so far but we kind of know Malik Washington is
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't want to call him a high-end slot receiver, but he's above average slot receiver.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to get a lot of targets.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_01]: Caleb Doug was essentially the X on this team.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: At least right now until Chris Bell comes back.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: And Jacob Rodriguez, like I've said, he's had a very, very, very good camp.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_01]: Next question, if proctor needs to move the right tackle, disastrous.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: who goes to left card.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: Great question, right?
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: Look, let's hope we don't have to do that.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, Jamari Sallier is on the way back.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's out long term.
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: He's just missed the last two days.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: We get to ask Jeff Halfwoods some questions, some injury questions tomorrow.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_00]: So hopefully he'll elaborate a bit.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: And he'll let us know what the decision, you know,
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think they want to do that.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think they want to get us, you know, they want to get us far down the road as they can with Caden Proctor, I left guard.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's the position they've decided that they've wanted, they want to try them at.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: And they want to play him at.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: So let's just hope that what's going on with Austin Jackson is something minor and he'll be back at practice tomorrow.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_01]: As far as who goes to left guard, look, I thought that you Campbell had some good moments today.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: already dead.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: Let me go down down the the roster and give you some some up and downs on on the offensive line.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Look, DJ Campbell and Myers, like you could guess on what you need to play in, right?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: Very good in the ring game, I thought.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: That another guy shuffle in at tackle Marquise Cox.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: Look at slim pickings, man, but like I said before, man, you're getting down the OT4.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to look good.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: Other than DJ Campbell, man, nobody really, really stood out.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: Look, you know, who's giving me, look, night that he's giving me good vibes, but I think he's, I think he's a pro.
- 18:10[SPEAKER_01]: Colleague, a Yeeds guy from the UFL out of Maryland.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: He got drafted in 2020,
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to call him a good vibes guy, but I think he's an NFL player, but other than that, we're talking about guys inside look, I think you could count on Myers a bit, but I really do like look, what was like Sawyer, but I really like DJ Campbell so far.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: He was noticeable today.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: He was moving people out of the way.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: Can't a proctor, by the way.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: Can't a proctor, and an Aaron Brewer.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: in their combo blocks.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: Kid and Proctor is blocking three gaps over.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Very nice to see.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we get a little bit more game action.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they run a game on him or a stunner too.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Get them on skates, get them thinking.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe they run blitzes at him.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: that's something that I would like to see.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: So the game action is going to be instructive, anymore, if they go any more live, they do any more live, team drills, team, team periods, they go live, they start sending some blitzes through Caitlyn Proctor.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see how you react to them, but I thought it was a very positive day in pads.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Very positive first day in pads for Caitlyn Proctor.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was watching the offense.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: He was watching the defensive line down three gaps.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: So very, very impressed with getting proctor on day one.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, there's thin on the offensive line, but most teams of thin, like once you get past, DJ Campbell Myers, you know, Sawyer and Sawyer's injured.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: So you got one less depth piece, right?
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: Once you get down there, man, it's slim pick and it's really especially on the outside.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: You start playing musical chairs.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's not going to
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, next question.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_01]: I missed the first half, and it even on Jonah at the right side, I thought he was okay.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: Today, look, I thought that the interior of the offensive line held up really, really well today.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: They were giving some clean pockets for Malik Wilson to throw out of him.
- 20:21[SPEAKER_01]: So I came away, I came away pretty impressed with the interior offensive line, not so impressed with the tackles.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: Patrick Paul I thought was okay, he was decent.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody they try to write tack on including Austin Jackson, look Austin Jackson had his issues blocking chop robbers in today.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: and he gave up a pressure to Cleveland Farrow, which actually made for a pretty impressive play by Malik Wallace where he just drifted left, stepped up, gave Farrow kind of a bad rush angle to complete the play and delivered the ball downfield.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: So, right tackle, nobody was good today at right tackle, but the interior offensive line I thought was really, really good.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: uh... next question any thoughts to the new acquisition of all on often on the offensive line michael muffin uh... muckle fece uh... i don't know too much about him he was from uta evidently he has good numbers good counting stats at uta so i guess we shall see uh... he's gonna come on and obviously he's gonna play right away because they have some injuries on the offensive line
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: How has Cleveland Ferrell looked, is the next question?
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: That is what good.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: Today, he had that one play where he pushed Malik Wallace off of the spot, beating Austin Jackson.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: And on that play, if the dolphins can create any other pressure anywhere along their defensive line, they probably get the sack there, but the dolphin offensive line did its job elsewhere.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: And Malik will us again, like I said, drifted, drifted left, stepped up into the pocket final little bit of space to deliver the football and deliver it.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: So I think Cleveland Ferrell is having a good camp and afterwards he had an availability.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_01]: I do suggest that you check out that availability on MiamiDolphins.com.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: He said he actually spoke to Christian Wilkins, remember him?
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: And Christian Wilkins, who he called a friend, a good friend, talked them up on the dolphin's organization.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good fan base.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, it's a good culture here to play.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: And he generally liked the organization.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: So, Cooing for I'll took him up on it and just came down here.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was a good availability and he went very long.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think his availability, I haven't checked it, but it's on, I have the transcript in front of me.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's rather long, but I think it was like, maybe 12 minutes, something like that, which is a pretty long player availability after practice.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: Next question to the safety is look adequate so far so good, but remember we can't judge some of the coverages and I'm looking at some of these coverages and sometimes when they've called and look and I can't say this sometimes when they've called cover three it seems like some of these guys do know what they're doing because maybe they come from cover three heavy places most of the green bay guys that they have, you know, they're in Anderson or whatever, he's going to know what to do
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's the newer guys, you know, the Lewis Moore's, the Michael Taffs.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the ones that are going to have to get schooled on the coverages, and if you watch practice, you could see that Jeff Happie is behind the defense.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's behind the second.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: So he's trying to coordinate a lot of this stuff, and he was none too happy yesterday.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: Today, he looked a little bit more calm and collected.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe he liked what he saw today, or they did give up a couple of deep balls.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: Um, which individual unit?
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I think we have a couple of, uh, two more questions today, uh, to finish up here today, which individual unit has been the most improved and noticeable since LTAs with the pads on today.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: Great question, because that's a question that I was talking with Calcrab's on today.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: Look, if you had that think, which are two units that are absolutely positively top 10 in the NFL, I think that they have two on this roster.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: Linebacker, defensive tackle.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: I think defensive tackle is the one where it's the most improved, and it's a unit that you could actually hang your head on.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: And when the regular season starts, you could say, look, we don't envy anything from any other team.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: At defensive tackle, we have a lot of talent there, and we kind of actually like our talent there.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: Not as easy to translate into enough pressure.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'll occupy enough material office of Lyman where they can leave one on one's on the edge and they actually get in a buff average, they get a buff average production from their edge players, namely Joshua Chae, Chop Robinson, including Farrell.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: If they could do that, man, that's half the battle toward getting a competent defense, right?
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: So the short answer, defense of tackle and linebacker.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: All right, last question, what unit do you see need to add or improve before the season starts?
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, good question.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: Look if they're gonna take an injury at tight end.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: They're gonna need something at tight end.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: Simple as that and the offensive line.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: It looks thin to me.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, once you get past sol year Look at my ears.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: If if if if Aaron Bruer has to miss a game.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think Myers can fill an amore belief for a gamer to It's never good if you're gonna lose an all-pro, right?
- 25:38[SPEAKER_01]: In Aaron Bruer
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm talking about the interior and the outside look I think saw you can play But if he's also into right now, then you're extremely thin At tackle at swing tackle and you're first guard off the bench.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: I thought DJ Campbell had a look today and that's good news Because maybe they have something they could work with their Guard, but I said I would say that the units that need to be most improved are obviously in the offensive line namely the depth
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: And of course, why receive her, man, like they're going to need some help.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_01]: But I think help is on the way in the form of Chris.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to call it right here tomorrow back at practice.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: They have Wednesday off.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: Remember, it's three on one off.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: So they will have Wednesday off and then they run right through until the stadium practice on Saturday, which is at 10 a.m.
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: I will see you again and talk to you again tomorrow.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for listening to three yards per catty.
