Transcript
- 0:00Hi, good afternoon. Welcome Miller and Condon on a
- 0:02Wednesday, the Iowa Sports Radio Network.
- 0:05Trent Condon, Ken Miller for the next couple of hours to talk
- 0:08sports with you. Appreciate you starting your
- 0:10afternoon with us. If you're listening on Des
- 0:13Moines Sports station, one O 6.3 kicks and no any of the
- 0:16affiliates throughout the state of Iowa anywhere, anytime on the
- 0:19I Heart app. Here's what's coming up on our
- 0:21program. We are going to devote a bunch
- 0:23of time today to the NFL draft and we are going to get the
- 0:27involvement of our regional teams, yes, including the
- 0:30Packers. You Packer fans, I know that
- 0:31you're sitting out the first round, but we'll talk to Dave
- 0:35Sinican. I, I hope it's dunker.
- 0:37I think he's a Packer. He feels, doesn't he feel like a
- 0:40Packer in the second round, maybe the third, But we'll talk
- 0:43to syndicate about the Packers. Obviously, we're going to start
- 0:46with the Bears and our buddy the Bears blog, Jeff Hughes will
- 0:49join us. Dane Mazzutani, a variety of
- 0:50topics with Dane, mostly the Vikings, but we'll dip our toe
- 0:54into the wild waters. I'll do some Twins as they had a
- 0:59nice win last night. Come from behind, win boy.
- 1:01The Mets fans, my God, they're apoplectic.
- 1:03Are they not booing? It's unbelievable.
- 1:06Something has to give, something has to be done there. 12 in a
- 1:09row. My God, you can't
- 1:10recover@chiefsblitz.com. Nick Athan and then Dave
- 1:13Sinican. So that's what's on tap during
- 1:16our program. Kind of got a little bit and
- 1:17wanted to do it tomorrow. But with Cappy having to push
- 1:20back his weekly appearance, David Kaplan, who joins us
- 1:23normally every Wednesday, couldn't make today work.
- 1:25I had a commitment. So he'll join us tomorrow at
- 1:291:00. So we'll do Chicago sports with
- 1:31Cappy. Centurion Stone of Iowa sponsors
- 1:33him on a weekly basis when he'll join us tomorrow at 1:00.
- 1:37So therefore, we'll get in front of the draft, which gets
- 1:40underway here tomorrow night. 7:00, I think is the first pick
- 1:43of the of the draft for those of you so inclined.
- 1:47Are you? Oh yeah, I'll be there.
- 1:49Pick one. Well, I'd have to look at our
- 1:53calendar as you know. Yeah, right.
- 1:55You got kids and. And and I will tell you this.
- 1:57Baseball. Is the worst time of year.
- 1:59Right. What?
- 2:00So what a baseball? What all collides?
- 2:02So we have piano lessons on Monday after piano lessons for
- 2:06both. For both, yes, they go
- 2:07back-to-back after that one day. Oh, thank you.
- 2:10Oh well, I hope so. I wish I would have, yes.
- 2:13I do too. I never did anything before and
- 2:16I have no clue. And when they're doing piano
- 2:18lessons and if they're struggling and they're, you
- 2:20know, doing their practice, I'm, I really have no, I do not know
- 2:22how to read music at all. I have no clue.
- 2:26I didn't play an instrument in 4th grade when everybody else
- 2:28did. It was me.
- 2:29Did you guys? Have to do the God forsaken
- 2:31recorders. I don't even remember doing
- 2:34that. I remember recorders, but yeah,
- 2:35yeah, yeah. Oh.
- 2:36My God, what an awful sound it it.
- 2:38Absolutely is. But Jack, he's in kindergarten,
- 2:41he knows how to read music like he's good, he's thriving, he's
- 2:43doing very well and he wants to play the drums.
- 2:46When he gets up into 4th grade, he gets his opportunity to do
- 2:48that. So we got piano so.
- 2:49Those will end up under the tree.
- 2:51Oh, absolutely. You know how that goes, Yeah.
- 2:54Then I got to take Jack to wrestling right afterwards.
- 2:56So sometimes Tara will put. Contrast.
- 2:59Now piano to wrestling. Those two don't really marry
- 3:03together. It's kind of like me watching
- 3:05the Masters during Monster Jam with the monster trucks doubting
- 3:09the Casey Center. Then Ella now has Reck.
- 3:12No, she has tournament travel ball practice on Monday, so we
- 3:17got to divide and conquer on Monday evening after piano
- 3:20lessons finish up. We go right from picking him up
- 3:22to school, right to piano, right to wrestling or softball for
- 3:25them. We have also the convergence of
- 3:28both travel ball and wreck ball. Have to play both in the West
- 3:32Des Moines system. So she's got that practice a
- 3:34week there, couple of practices with the travel team, couple of
- 3:37games every week and then of course our tournament schedule
- 3:40that's in front of us. Jack also does does a ninja
- 3:42class, so that's on Wednesday. So we do off that.
- 3:45It's all over the place. Baseball is starting now for
- 3:47Jack, that'll be on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
- 3:50It is just one thing after another and you know what?
- 3:53I couldn't love him. More.
- 3:54Yeah, absolutely. I I wish I was in your shoes.
- 3:57I'll turn the clock back and get those shoes again.
- 4:00For me, it was Ferrell's on in Beaverdale.
- 4:03But that and that was fine. I've enjoyed the hell out of it.
- 4:05Anyways, enjoy it. Yes, I will, but I.
- 4:09Understand about your schedule, Yes, so cup Thursday.
- 4:12Evening. It's still TBD what what things
- 4:15are going to look like and I'll I'll have an earbud in if
- 4:18necessary. I'll maybe be in the car and be
- 4:20listening that way. That's usually the way a lot of
- 4:22this stuff plays out and then everybody gets to bed and then
- 4:25dad can watch. Sports.
- 4:27Yeah, I'm not. I mean, maybe it's the top ten
- 4:29pick. I'm not even sure I'll turn it
- 4:31on. I mean, the hockey's been
- 4:32unbelievable, the NBA and boy, the by the way, the NBA, what a
- 4:35significant change in these playoffs as of last night,
- 4:38Wembignon is like a tree falling in the forest, and that's a long
- 4:42way down for him. And when he hit his head, boy,
- 4:45oh boy. Obviously the level of concern
- 4:49among San Antonio Spurs fans, coaches, players has to be
- 4:53through the roof at this point because concussion protocol.
- 4:56He hit his head hard and Trent, you saw the result of what
- 4:59happened once he's out of the he played 12 minutes, play 12
- 5:01minutes different, different team.
- 5:03Portland can win this series now or no.
- 5:05Without him win the series, I think that they'll adjust.
- 5:10I mean, they went to the game last night thinking he's going
- 5:12to be there. Now game #3 when the series
- 5:15shifts to Portland, they'll know in all likelihood that they're
- 5:17not going to have him. That's why I don't think it's as
- 5:20maybe as dire as some NBA fans think it will be because they'll
- 5:24be, you know, break prepping for not having him on the floor.
- 5:28If they get that Scoot Henderson that we saw last night, he was.
- 5:31Unbelievable. So I didn't know anything about
- 5:32him. Yeah, I I tried to.
- 5:34What did that? How did I I keep my mind?
- 5:36Am I losing it? I don't remember him in college.
- 5:39He's. A G Leaguer, yes.
- 5:41And he came in with a lot of fanfare.
- 5:43There were a lot of people that kind of hitched their wagon that
- 5:45he was going to be, he was going to be a stud.
- 5:47And I didn't believe it because the shooting in the G League
- 5:49wasn't great. He hasn't been up until this to
- 5:52maybe last night, right? That has been still an issue for
- 5:55him. Not a great shooter from the
- 5:57field, 3435% from three, which in today's NBA isn't very good
- 6:02and he put it all together last night.
- 6:04If they get that scoop, which is likely not going.
- 6:06Down. I don't think so, no.
- 6:08Win the series. I'll still say no.
- 6:10What is the most likely return for Wimby?
- 6:13I mean, I haven't heard that was significant.
- 6:15He's not playing Game 3. No, I would be shocked.
- 6:18He shouldn't. Game four, well we also have to
- 6:20remember how stretched out these bags are.
- 6:22So let me take a peek here at this schedule.
- 6:25We will get Game 3 coming up on Friday night, then we go to
- 6:31quicker turn around Sunday for Game 4.
- 6:34Oh, that's an afternoon affair. I see it.
- 6:35I thought I didn't see it when I first looked Till.
- 6:38Yeah, that is. So a week away would be Game 5
- 6:40back in San Antonio for game five, maybe facing elimination.
- 6:45Maybe, yeah, but that perhaps. Concussions of football I get
- 6:49are different, but Wimby, even though he's he feels like a foot
- 6:53taller than everybody. Else well, he is he still.
- 6:56He still takes a beating and there's still contact that can
- 6:59happen to your head even if you are 7 foot 4.
- 7:01So, boy, that that maybe even. Feels more likely.
- 7:06He's body sore today for sure, even though as much contacts as
- 7:09he takes during the regular seasons 'cause I can say that's
- 7:11a long way for anybody to fall. Well, and suddenly we go from
- 7:16that Timberwolves path. There is no shot you're going to
- 7:18go through Denver, through San Antonio.
- 7:21I'm with you. Well, suddenly maybe things are
- 7:24looking a little bit different and we're changing the
- 7:26conversation because the Timberwolves played poorly, I
- 7:28thought, in game one and had. They did.
- 7:30They did. And they played great in the
- 7:32fourth quarter defensively and they stole game two.
- 7:35You win that series. Maybe things are starting to
- 7:37change and we could get back-to-back to back in the
- 7:39Western Conference. Wouldn't that be something?
- 7:40I don't like them against OK see if they get that again but.
- 7:42Still. Yes, another run out of the
- 7:45Timberwolves that that would be good here.
- 7:47We got, of course, the G League team here in Des Moines and just
- 7:51well, the Bulls have been terrible for 30 years now.
- 7:53Yeah. How many Bulls fans are left
- 7:55outside of people that are older like a.
- 7:58The the gravitated the vet from in the 90s.
- 8:01I wonder if the kids who are so impressionable at that point
- 8:05that we're Bulls fans because that's what was on TV all the
- 8:07time. I wonder if they've given up.
- 8:10Right. Absolutely.
- 8:11And then their kids, well, I was a Bulls fan back in the 90s, but
- 8:14I'm watching. And then they pick the Thunder.
- 8:17They pick, they just pick a Steph.
- 8:19Curry and a Golden State fan, or you're a LeBron fan and as many
- 8:22stops along the way, Pick a team.
- 8:25Yeah, we'll see. We'll see where it goes.
- 8:27But that was a scary incident last night, to say the least.
- 8:30Stayed up again late last night to watch the West Coast game.
- 8:32I just, I love the playoffs in these late games and watching
- 8:35the Lakers once again do it, I thought, all right, they got a
- 8:38game at home. How did Durant look?
- 8:41Awful? Did he?
- 8:42He was absolutely body Marcus Smart, who's like a foot
- 8:45shorter, just absolutely bullied him in the fourth quarter and
- 8:49really threw out the game and he could see Durant.
- 8:52He's not 100%. He's not even close to it.
- 8:54And yet they're running so much stuff through what what are the
- 8:58I don't know what the Rockets are doing and you're not going
- 9:00to fire a coach in the middle of the series.
- 9:02But if there's ever a time, I mean, jeez Louise, Now, both
- 9:06those games were in LA, to be fair.
- 9:08We'll see. But Canard has been tremendous.
- 9:11I did not have that on my bingo card that that was going to be
- 9:13something happening in this playoffs.
- 9:15And LeBron, I'm sure you did. You see the highlight this
- 9:18morning. Just the highlights.
- 9:19His reverse dunk, yes, still got it.
- 9:22He's 41 years. Old.
- 9:23I know it's not fair. This is.
- 9:24Stupid. I know it is.
- 9:27In a way, are we? I get it turns into the MGA
- 9:33LeBron debate and it's guys 40 plus against people in their 30s
- 9:38and 20s and down, and it just turns into that and evolves to
- 9:41something that it shouldn't be because they're both great,
- 9:43they're both incredible players. But the longevity Michael
- 9:47Jordan, we saw him at. The Wizards, he was brutal. 3839
- 9:51at that point, and that lift was there anymore.
- 9:55It was completely gone. And Lebron's not the same Dynamo
- 9:58he was, but he's still got to be.
- 10:00I mean, if you could put percentiles in athleticism.
- 10:03As to what he's at now and what he was in his prime.
- 10:06He was number 1. He was in the top 1%.
- 10:09Yep. For 15 years.
- 10:10He's not there anymore. He's still in the top 10%.
- 10:13Yeah, close. He's 4141.
- 10:16Yeah, and a game where a guy's but.
- 10:18All of a sudden, because he can't outrun for all the time,
- 10:21all of a sudden he just gets you.
- 10:22And I'm not saying he's going to get him in this playoffs, but
- 10:25enjoy it because he's not good if if you're a basketball fan,
- 10:28if we like greatness. And that's what we've seen his
- 10:31entire career. I mean, when he first set foot
- 10:33on the on the big stage after ESPN 2 made him cover his
- 10:36tattoos when he played in that high school basketball, I'll
- 10:39never forget it. Never forget, wouldn't let him
- 10:41go on because he had tattoos in a high school game and they did
- 10:44not want to show that. And I'm, I'm guessing, I mean, I
- 10:46don't know for sure. There was nothing offensive
- 10:49underneath them. Just couldn't have tattoos.
- 10:51That's right, Not on our watch anyways.
- 10:53I watched a lot of Cubs last night, a lot of Puck last night,
- 10:58this Nico Horner story. You know, I meant to do this
- 11:01before the show, darn it. And I purposely stayed away from
- 11:05it last night 'cause I know what I would have done.
- 11:07You would have bet, yeah. What's his MVP price?
- 11:11I mean, it's obviously it's Otani, right?
- 11:13By Otani is a is the shortest of short shots.
- 11:17And the only way you can get there is an Otani injury.
- 11:21Yes, that's the only path. Even if it's an arm injury and
- 11:25he can still hit, he's still going to win the MVP.
- 11:27And we saw that. Well, all right, I can't pitch
- 11:29you this year. I'm just going to go out there
- 11:31and steal 50 some bases and Oh yeah, he's.
- 11:33Speaking of gifted athletes. Another next level guy, Nico
- 11:38Horner to win nationally. National League MVP.
- 11:42I would guess right now. Going to DraftKings, I'm going
- 11:44to see if I can find this bad boy.
- 11:46I would anticipate it is something in the range of.
- 11:50They don't have awards list of Trent.
- 11:51They don't. You know, I'm surprised.
- 11:53Is there a game underway? Yes, that's why.
- 11:56The The Cardinals are playing. Yeah, there's a game Cardinals
- 11:59are getting. Beat Reds Rays just opened up
- 12:01Astros Guardian so. Son of a gun.
- 12:02I wish I would have looked at that earlier. 50 to 1, yeah, my
- 12:07guess was 40 last night. So we're we're kind of in the
- 12:10same ballpark. But at that price, you take a
- 12:12flyer, right? Yes.
- 12:13And you're betting on a guy to get hurt.
- 12:15Right. Which, you know, but for that
- 12:20type of price and injuries are part of sports.
- 12:23He's having a phenomenal year. He's having a phenomenal year.
- 12:26The power, I don't know how he's found it.
- 12:28You know, he how he was with with his glove in his hand.
- 12:33He's he's good in the batter's box.
- 12:34Obviously he's a very smart player.
- 12:37He can run the bases. But now that he's incorporating
- 12:39power into his game, my gosh, what a player he's become.
- 12:43It's unthinkable it is that you'd have this guy.
- 12:45Light hitting is the term that we used to use for a guy like
- 12:49that. Contact specialist.
- 12:51Now you throw pop into it. What's his high watermark?
- 12:53How many homers can he get to? Can he get to?
- 12:56His high career wise 10. It's not very many.
- 13:00It's not Nico Horner, Baseball Reference.
- 13:03Here we go. In his career, he's got forty
- 13:06home runs. And the high watermark one year
- 13:07was what? 10 you nailed it. 2022 had 9 the
- 13:11year after IN237 back-to-back years double it to 20.
- 13:16If he can get there, I'm not even.
- 13:18I mean, maybe that. Seems like a.
- 13:19Lot that does seem like a lot, but we're in April.
- 13:23I don't know, I'm just trying to make a case of trying to find a
- 13:25price but and maybe so circus got theirs taken down the only
- 13:29other. App that might happen.
- 13:30Is bet Rivers and my guess is they don't have anything either
- 13:35because they're very quick to take theirs down I think
- 13:37normally. Yes, I'm looking futures at
- 13:40FanDuel also say, oh, they do have awards.
- 13:42Oh, here we go. Where?
- 13:43Oh, you bet, Rivers does too. How about that?
- 13:45This is from FanDuel so as I'm scrolling through here and I am
- 13:50still scrolling and still. Scrolling Jesus.
- 13:52Oh my. And still scrolling, I found
- 13:54him. Hang on, let me find him on.
- 13:56On what? What app are you on?
- 13:57You're. I'm on FanDuel.
- 13:58I'm on FanDuel, this is what we talk about, shopping for prices.
- 14:02I I found him you're 50 to 1 was right kinda.
- 14:06You forgot that one in front of it.
- 14:08Same at FanDuel 100. Rivers, He's 150 to.
- 14:11One along with Pete Crow Armstrong.
- 14:14CJ Abrams, Saya Suzuki, who finally got a home run last
- 14:17night, finally made some contact which is good to see.
- 14:20Michael Bush, wow. And, and Otani's price is what
- 14:23he's -4 dollars. -350 that's crazy, but is it?
- 14:30If he doesn't give up a run all year, I think he's gonna win it.
- 14:32True. Yeah, that's true.
- 14:34But it's crazy if you, if that's all you're gonna bet, right?
- 14:38Right. I mean, if you want to stack up
- 14:39a couple of other things, then maybe you can get a palatable
- 14:42price. But my God, minus $4 -, 3 1/2 at
- 14:47FanDuel. Unbelievable.
- 14:49Unbelievable. Anyways, if you're so inclined,
- 14:52and if you're a you'd like to follow the Cubs and you want to
- 14:54take a flyer 150 to 1, there's worse places to spend your 10
- 14:58bucks. Boy, that'd be a nice return at
- 15:00the end of the year. Anyways, a couple of other
- 15:03topics wanted to touch on the College Football Playoff.
- 15:05It. Does it sound to you like the
- 15:07SEC and the Big 10 are now on the same page when it comes to
- 15:10expanding to 24? We're.
- 15:12Getting there, it seems like it's very, it's closer than it's
- 15:14ever been, right? And I think a part of this is
- 15:18Sankey and the SEC, We're heading there.
- 15:21We all know we're heading there. They don't want to be the team,
- 15:25the conference that is looked at.
- 15:28We got that one wrong. We were wrong at.
- 15:30But it's the Big 10 is the is the mover and shaker behind?
- 15:33Absolutely. But they know that the seas
- 15:35everywhere is pushing this direction now.
- 15:38There's going to be concessions. Group of Five is going to want
- 15:40at minimum 2 beds. I'm fine with that.
- 15:42Yeah, absolutely. Sure, top two teams that are
- 15:45ranked or top 2 conference champions, however you want to
- 15:47determine it, absolutely in a 24/2 team field, those other
- 15:51conferences absolutely deserve I think a minimum of two bids.
- 15:54I'm fine with that part. Is it come down to rankings?
- 15:57Is it going to be automatic qualifiers?
- 15:59And that's the one with the Big 10 came up with.
- 16:02You had what was it the? They want what they want 5.
- 16:05It was. Was it 5?
- 16:08Is that what it was? 5 automatic bids?
- 16:10But then the Big 10 can determine it in whatever
- 16:12fashion, so they could have. Well, in collaboration with the
- 16:15SEC, right? Because aren't they married if
- 16:17they get this through? Well, the third place team plays
- 16:19the 8th place team, whatever, and they get an automatic bid.
- 16:21And if the 3rd place team is still good enough to still get
- 16:23in the field as at large, that's OK.
- 16:25So the if we go to 24 the top 8 seeds get a buy correct?
- 16:29The first two rounds of the playoff are played on campus.
- 16:33Let's push that back. How many you want?
- 16:35All the way through the quarterfinals, OK.
- 16:38Yes, OK. All the way through the
- 16:40quarters. Well, wouldn't that?
- 16:41Wouldn't that get to the corners because the semis then go to the
- 16:44College Football Playoff? Bowls, you'd have the round of
- 16:4724, the round of 16 at home. The round of eight, which is a
- 16:50quarterfinals would not be no, you're right.
- 16:52That's what I want to see. So you want to add 1 more?
- 16:54Yes, absolutely. Get that opportunity.
- 16:56You can host twice. You know, games are better on
- 16:58campus. I know you love bowl games.
- 17:00Yeah, I do. And if you lose the first one,
- 17:02are you still bowl eligible or is your season over?
- 17:05Season over, I mean, how many guys are going to play in?
- 17:07That well, true, yeah, good point, good point.
- 17:10There are yeah, not very many. The roster would be decimated as
- 17:14it's, you know, a lot of them are already are, so the bowl
- 17:18games they would. Get what's left?
- 17:21Over reduce of them would be a reduction of how many are
- 17:25currently offered. But if we get 23 playoff games
- 17:28is what we'd get in a 2014 bracket, coupled with another 20
- 17:32bowl games for the remaining. That's good.
- 17:34And what would it be over in your mind first weekend in
- 17:37January? Pretty early in January, we've
- 17:39seen. Because the Rose Bowl is going
- 17:41to want a semi at the very least.
- 17:43Give them something that's just static, was going to be there
- 17:47every single year and tell him to shut up.
- 17:49Well, I think they're getting to that point, honestly.
- 17:52It's time. Yeah.
- 17:53It's long past time. Yeah, the PAC 12's gone.
- 17:55That the the Rose Bowl is dictating everything that
- 17:57happens for the betterment of the sport because of a stupid
- 18:00parade. And I love the parade.
- 18:01I went to the parade. Still, it's a stupid parade.
- 18:03Did. You go to the parade till when
- 18:05we were out there. We went and saw well all the
- 18:07floats afterwards. That's what he did.
- 18:09That's what you did. I had tailgating too.
- 18:10I didn't have time for flipping parade put a praise with my
- 18:14kids. Don't need to be doing that at a
- 18:16Rose Bowl. But it was really cool actually
- 18:19the full and you could get up close to him and see and like
- 18:22every flower, you know, every tiny flower because that's all
- 18:25it's made out of. And a little decision that had
- 18:28water in it. It was incredible to see it up
- 18:30close it and how cool that was, but not cool enough to go to
- 18:33actual parade. No, I'm with you.
- 18:35Speaking of, incredible to see up close as we move from the
- 18:38College Football Playoff to the Kansas City Royals.
- 18:41Have you seen the renderings of their new downtown stadium?
- 18:45I have in the past, there's new ones.
- 18:47There's new ones that came out. They they announced it.
- 18:50What do they call the comp? The Truman complex?
- 18:53Is that what it is now, where they play, where the Chiefs play
- 18:56and and the Royals play? That's a whole bunch of land
- 18:58that's going to have. I don't know what they're going
- 19:00to do with it, but it's moving downtown.
- 19:02The stadium is going to be built downtown at this.
- 19:05And I don't know Kansas City at all.
- 19:08Apparently the of all businesses that that had their headquarters
- 19:12there Hallmark cards. Are you aware of that?
- 19:16I saw that in this little release here.
- 19:18Hallmark Cards has their headquarters and that is going
- 19:22to be, I guess, repurposed or developed, and that's where the
- 19:25stadium is going to be. I mean, if it gets anywhere
- 19:29close to the drawings that we saw today, man, I hate to use a
- 19:32baseball term, but that's a home run.
- 19:35I absolutely love Kaufman too. I do too, Trent.
- 19:38I wish they built it on wheels. You know, they can just push it
- 19:40down there. Just drag it down there.
- 19:42But it's also in Major League Baseball comparison.
- 19:44It's in a tiny ballpark, yeah, but now, are there fountains?
- 19:48They're not the ones I've seen, no.
- 19:52I want to see some no I. Didn't see it.
- 19:54I didn't see, I saw it from like a drone shot from above in the
- 19:57photo in the in the drawing that I saw.
- 20:00Now, maybe there's something, you know, if you're sitting
- 20:02behind a home plate and you're looking at the outfield, maybe
- 20:04that's there, but in left field, you know, Petco Park has those.
- 20:08I I don't know if it's a some kind of warehouse building that
- 20:11they've made apartment, but there's left field.
- 20:13It looks like there's apartments and they're now they're they're
- 20:16all suites. That's what it looks like he's
- 20:18going to go with this new Royal Stadium.
- 20:19So I see in center field one of the endings I just took.
- 20:22A piece does have the. Fountains.
- 20:23There's good. Well, I don't know if there are
- 20:25fountains that go all the time or if it's just like a water
- 20:28feature that like after a home run, water splashes up.
- 20:32Well, you have to have something because that's kind of a
- 20:33trademark of that ballpoint, right?
- 20:35Yes, got to have some kind of some kind of homage to that and
- 20:40looks like they have at minimum something there.
- 20:41But cool area. It really is.
- 20:44Hung out there for the draft. What was that for you?
- 20:46So that was. Kind of, yeah, because it.
- 20:47Didn't you? Say you were close to the World
- 20:49War 1 monument, and that's like a couple of blocks from where
- 20:53this building's going to be or where the stadium is going to be
- 20:56built. So we'll get more into that with
- 20:58Nick Athan. Yeah, we'll pick his brain when
- 21:00he joins us at 1:25. But we'll also obviously talk
- 21:04about the the news that came out today that the Royals are
- 21:08they're moving and they're going to, I guess expedite this.
- 21:12So and it's going to stay in Missouri, which should keep the,
- 21:14you know, residents of that state very, very pleased with
- 21:19that. All right, we'll take a call
- 21:21here before we go to break. When we come back, we're going
- 21:23to talk to Jeff Hughes on De Bear's De Bear's blog.
- 21:27What he is hearing, if anything, there perhaps some Intel on the
- 21:31new statement of Capy. Capy's dying on this hill.
- 21:34It's Arlington Heights and he'll join us tomorrow at 1:00.
- 21:37Not today if you're joining us late.
- 21:39Cappy had to switch his day, so he'll be with us tomorrow.
- 21:42Let's head to Waterloo, shall we?
- 21:45Mike, did you guys, did you, did you get the storms that pass
- 21:48through the area last weekend? Was it as bad as I as I heard?
- 21:52Oh yeah, we got a lot of hail down here, all right.
- 21:55Cars got hail damage. Yeah, I bet, I bet.
- 21:58All right. Good stuff.
- 21:59Well, not good stuff, but glad you got through.
- 22:02What's the what's going on with you?
- 22:03You know what? You know that Murakami for the
- 22:06White Sox? Yeah.
- 22:07I have never seen a guy hit the ball so far.
- 22:10Did you see that home run? He hitting Sacramento over that
- 22:1360. Foot wall.
- 22:15I did not. I'll take your word for it.
- 22:17But yeah, he's off to a pretty good start. 32 feet.
- 22:21Yeah, they short changes. 450 or 460 last night he had another
- 22:26home run and they were they brought in a regular player and
- 22:30he was throwing lob balls to him.
- 22:32He hit 3 so far. I couldn't believe it.
- 22:35They were foul and I got one more.
- 22:37Thing and he's up to 9 now, right?
- 22:39Yeah, he's up to 9. He's a superstar.
- 22:41I didn't know he was so tall. He's about 6-2 really put
- 22:44together. I mean, what's he weigh?
- 22:46About 2:30 or 40? Massive swing.
- 22:49And then, you know, people have been criticizing Audie Crook.
- 22:53And you know what? It ain't her fault that she was
- 22:56left with two players left on the team.
- 22:58That's the coach's fault. And anybody, you know, Sean was
- 23:02kind of criticizing her, you know, for 1.4.
- 23:05Million go, go. Hey, I take that money and run
- 23:08because I I don't even think I made that money in my lifetime,
- 23:13so I'm Flash. Hey, I'm going to watch every
- 23:15Oklahoma State game because she's fun to watch and I hear
- 23:18she's really getting into shape, so I hope the best of her good
- 23:21stuff hang up and listen. Yup, guys.
- 23:23Thank you, buddy. I appreciate it, Mike.
- 23:24Yeah. I I don't get the Audi crooks
- 23:26push back. I don't either.
- 23:27I don't I don't get the Rocco back push back that he knew how
- 23:30long where he was going. So what?
- 23:31Yeah, we'll So what? I think we could connect the
- 23:33dots on the right. Now, should Matt Campbell be
- 23:36slapped on the wrist like Kirk Ference was?
- 23:39It was into the portal. He was making contact.
- 23:41Yeah, but that's impermissible. It is, but Matt Campbell was
- 23:44wise. He didn't self report.
- 23:47Don't do that right Todd? Forbid you actually play by the
- 23:50rules and actually report what you.
- 23:53Make of just not a ference. I mean, this is everyone's doing
- 23:56it. Let's not be naive.
- 23:58It's a self report. It's not even just a sports
- 24:01thing, is it just in general? And it's one of the things I
- 24:04drive home to my kids, just tell the truth.
- 24:07Just. Beg for forgiveness?
- 24:09Don't. Yes, I I despise societally what
- 24:17this is turned into. Never admit mistakes, never
- 24:20admit a mistake, just on and on and on.
- 24:22And it is has permeated everywhere, not just sports, but
- 24:26everywhere. And we see a perfect example
- 24:28back in our sports world. Kurt Ferentz made a mistake,
- 24:31owned up to it, gave himself A1 game suspension.
- 24:34Not enough. Not enough?
- 24:36Drop the hammer, other people, and we know everywhere this is
- 24:39happening, of course, but don't self report.
- 24:42That's what we learned out of it.
- 24:43Look, McCullum did it. Yep.
- 24:45Koch admitted it on the on the podcast.
- 24:47Absolutely. Speaking of podcasts, do you do
- 24:50you know Matt Randazzo at all? I do, yes.
- 24:52And then it does a nice job. Yes, he does.
- 24:53It does a really nice job. Really good guess.
- 24:55Have you OK? It gets really good guess.
- 24:58And if you're listening over in the eastern part of the state,
- 25:00you absolutely know who I'm talking about.
- 25:01TV guy, right? Yes.
- 25:03He had Owen Freeman on yesterday.
- 25:06He's based out of the Quad City, so it makes sense.
- 25:10What a waste. Yeah, talent's there.
- 25:14I don't know if the drive is there.
- 25:15Well, obviously wasn't. He admitted it last year.
- 25:17There wasn't there? Yeah, oh boy, oh boy, boy.
- 25:20If I'm a Creighton fan or a Creighton booster, and what a
- 25:23waste of money. Hopefully he gets it together.
- 25:25Where's he going to Auburn, Right?
- 25:26He's going to Auburn. Going to Auburn.
- 25:28And Matt Cadence is there. Yeah, that's the connection.
- 25:30We'll see if he can get his because to the Leafs.
- 25:33Right, exactly. Maybe third time's a charm from
- 25:35Fran. He quit on them.
- 25:37To McDermott, who's now left the sport, Yeah, well, it happened.
- 25:41To you connect those dots a. Little Steven Pearl, because if
- 25:44they don't make the tournament this year, yeah, I think Steven
- 25:47Pearl's going to be out. He should be.
- 25:49Yeah, he should be. I think that's why Pops was
- 25:51politicking so damn hard. Yeah, but Matt Randazzo, if
- 25:54anybody knows him, you know, 2 thumbs up from these guys in Des
- 25:57Moines from noon to two. He does a nice job and gets some
- 26:00really good guests. I think I saw anger on with him
- 26:02earlier. One final note, as Audie Crooks
- 26:05came up, you saw Coach Steyer leaving that with State.
- 26:08Yeah. Jodie Starr.
- 26:09Yeah, Yeah, 24 years. Good for her.
- 26:11That's a long run. Glad you mentioned that, Trent.
- 26:13Glad you mentioned that. I mean longevity obviously a big
- 26:17part of that program and retirement well earned and well
- 26:21deserved. And big shoes to fill now and
- 26:24that coaching staff as they look to fill out their roster and
- 26:26find those final pieces to make it come together.
- 26:29We mentioned this yesterday. I think it's gone better for
- 26:31sure for that. I thought it was.
- 26:33I anticipated you're. Going to get the leftovers is
- 26:36why when I thought he was going to get.
- 26:37And it's been better than that. So we'll see.
- 26:40He did it four years ago where he's going to have to try to do
- 26:42it again. And we'll see.
- 26:43The freshman class is coming in, what they're going to be able to
- 26:45build along with some of the players that they got out of the
- 26:48portal. But yeah, Coach Steyer, hearing
- 26:50her so many times here on Kxido, we had the coaches show and
- 26:54she'd, you know, fill in for coach friendly.
- 26:56Just always enjoyed hearing her talk about the sport and women's
- 26:59sports in general. Great career and.
- 27:02Good luck. Absolutely.
- 27:04Well learned. We'll take a time out.
- 27:05We'll come back, we'll talk NFL. We're going to spend a lot of
- 27:07time on the regional teams here today.
- 27:10Plan to do it tomorrow. But plans change and we will do
- 27:13that here today. Vikings kick off our number 2
- 27:17Chiefs and Packers in there as well.
- 27:19Miller and Condon on the Iowa Sports Radio Network.
- 27:25I'm Millery Condon, Welcome back.
- 27:27Iowa Sports Radio Network. Glad you're with us.
- 27:29Trent and I until 2 Jeff Hughes momentarily the Bears blog.com I
- 27:34will talk about the Bears second hour of the show.
- 27:37Start with the Vikings, get the Chiefs, the little Packers as
- 27:40they wait until Friday before they make their pick.
- 27:43Assuming that they don't get involved.
- 27:45Let's get the Jeff Hughes the Bears blog.com Jeff Trenton Ken,
- 27:49good to speak with you. Are you excited about this
- 27:52draft? Jeff?
- 27:53Are you excited about Thursday night or where are you?
- 27:56I think you guys talked to me for long enough to realize that
- 27:59I don't ever get excited about any draft.
- 28:02This one in particular. I mean I hate to rain on
- 28:06everybody's parade, but everyone I talked to around this league
- 28:10tells me the same thing. There are 7 or 8 guys in this
- 28:14draft they view as blue chip style players and the rest of it
- 28:18is role players and they don't see this draft as any more than
- 28:2210 or 12 deep. And then it's can you make the
- 28:25right choices from then on out if you're looking for a high
- 28:29quality productive starter at the back end of round one right
- 28:32now? They're not there.
- 28:35Or certainly the guarantees aren't there.
- 28:38So it's that kind of a draft which is coming on the heels of
- 28:42what is reportedly going to be one of the best drafts in the
- 28:44years next year. So I don't know if this is the
- 28:49the impact of NIL money and players moving around and
- 28:52stockpiling talent on individual college rosters, but this is not
- 28:56a great draft. But it doesn't mean great
- 28:58players can't come out of it. And we've seen that plenty of
- 29:01times in the past. There's going to be guys that
- 29:02pop, the guys that come out of nowhere, and it happens every
- 29:05single year. At 25, the Bears will have a
- 29:08choice likely if they don't trade up or trade down in the
- 29:12first round. What is a more likely scenario?
- 29:15I know it's dependent on what happens the night of the draft
- 29:17and what's going on, but what's more likely?
- 29:19What you're hearing right now, the Bears move up from 25, try
- 29:22to get a better pick or moving down from that 2520 fifth
- 29:25choice, I think. Everybody from 15 down wants out
- 29:30of the first round. I think if you can somehow
- 29:34parlay your pick this year into a pick next year, that is what
- 29:39the front offices are looking to do right now.
- 29:41But even still, there's that big of a difference right now
- 29:45between pick 25 and pick 35 S, I think I think you're going to
- 29:50see a lot of teams in the back half of the first round
- 29:54desperately trying to accumulate more picks because this is the
- 29:57kind of draft where more picks matter.
- 30:00You want to take ten shots as A5 shots and hope you can find a
- 30:05couple of quality starters in that group.
- 30:08I would be surprised if anybody trades up though outside of
- 30:13maybe the top 10 picks in the draft.
- 30:16Or if somebody panics and has to have Simpson a quarterback,
- 30:20maybe. But I'm with you, Jeff, you
- 30:22know, and I think that'd be a huge mistake, by the way, but.
- 30:25I don't mean to, I don't mean to, I don't mean to bemoan the
- 30:27kid, but like, how many years do we have to see this happen?
- 30:31Like every year, teams fall in love with a quarterback who's
- 30:35just not that good. Yeah, they lose their minds.
- 30:37I have to say Ty Simpson can't be a a decent player down the
- 30:40road. But if you're staking, I mean,
- 30:42I've heard the Arizona Cardinals, that is a new regime
- 30:45taking over and they're going to stake their future on Ty
- 30:48Simpson. The best thing that can happen
- 30:50to Ty Simpson is he goes the third round where he should go,
- 30:54gets a couple of years in a good system and finds his way to to
- 30:58the starting role. This is the kind of thing when
- 31:01people start overdrafting the Christian Ponders and the Josh
- 31:05Rosen's and the Ty Simpson's. When you start overdrafting
- 31:08these kids, that's when their careers get get derailed because
- 31:13now the expectations rise and they shouldn't.
- 31:16Nope, I agree with you. So if the Bears keep the pick or
- 31:19whether wherever they drive, don't you think if they do
- 31:22anything other than offensive line or edge rusher in
- 31:25particular on that D line, don't you think that's where Chicago
- 31:28should be focusing their attention as far as their first
- 31:31round pick? Oh, absolutely.
- 31:33And I and I think I would be surprised if it's not a lineman
- 31:36with the first round pick and I'd be surprised if it's not
- 31:38another lineman in one of with one of the second round picks.
- 31:41I think they know where their deficiencies are.
- 31:44The Aussie trapeio injury has really come at a bad time.
- 31:49They do not know the status. They will not know his status
- 31:52probably till the middle of next season.
- 31:55They've got Braxton Jones, they've got Willis, they've got
- 31:57people who can fill that role. But if you if you identify a
- 32:01tackle at the end of this round, we do think can start day one,
- 32:06I'd be surprised that's not the pick.
- 32:07And I'd also say this about the Bears.
- 32:09They are not looking right now explicitly at 2026.
- 32:15They are not. They are building a program for
- 32:18the long haul and they have two aging guards on this roster.
- 32:22So if someone like a Chase Basantis catches their eye, I
- 32:26would not be surprised. They they go and say we're going
- 32:29to find the guy who's going to take over for Joe Tooney in a
- 32:32year or Jonah Jackson in a year. And as far as the defensive line
- 32:36goes, it's unlikely at 25 you're going to find that edge brusher
- 32:40that's really going to make a difference.
- 32:42But I think if if one of the defensive tackles catches their
- 32:46eye, that just seems like a natural spot for it.
- 32:49Absolutely does. What do you want to see them not
- 32:52do? They're we have heard Ryan
- 32:54polls, we have heard Ben Johnson both say best player available.
- 32:57They're that's kind of their the philosophy that they have.
- 32:59What do you want to see? What would make you grumble?
- 33:02Maybe not even a 25, but even some of those second round picks
- 33:04like don't do that. You know, I don't really have
- 33:10the one thing I don't want to see them do is trade up and get
- 33:12rid of picks. I just don't see this draft as
- 33:16having the kinds of guys that are going to make that big a
- 33:19difference. You know, there's two edge
- 33:21rushers that are going to go in the top five picks tonight.
- 33:23Are the Bears really going to try to get up and get one of
- 33:25them? No, you'd have to give up picks
- 33:27next year. I have to give up too much.
- 33:29I like what I'm hearing from inside the building.
- 33:32They're not overreacting to what was a thrilling 2025 they're not
- 33:37doing with the Command did a year ago and saying we had our
- 33:39great year, let's load up and go for next year.
- 33:42They are building this thing exactly the same way this
- 33:45offseason as they started building it last offseason.
- 33:49So I like the idea of just stay where you are, cumulate picks,
- 33:53take who you can take and hope the guys are productive.
- 33:57But again, if you're expecting 25 in these second rounders to
- 34:00come in immediately and make a big difference, the things I'm
- 34:03hearing are is that that's just not the kind of draft this is.
- 34:07Where are they going to be playing their home games in the
- 34:09future? Cappy's dying on the Arlington
- 34:11Heights hill. He is convinced it's going to be
- 34:13Arlington Heights. He won't listen to anybody that
- 34:15says Indiana. What are you hearing?
- 34:17I, I've been, I've thought it was Arlington Heights now for
- 34:20two years and I just would not. Now if you, I don't know if you
- 34:24guys are following it today, long 380 page document came out
- 34:29of the Illinois State legislature today about
- 34:32Arlington Heights. I would be lying to your
- 34:34audience if I told them that I sat down and read that document.
- 34:37If you've ever read a government document and that would take me
- 34:40a week to read. I just don't see the team
- 34:43leaving Illinois. But I will say this and I've
- 34:46said this, there's a meant to my readers.
- 34:48This has been so badly handled by both the state of Illinois
- 34:52and the Chicago Bears. Kevin Warren has been such a
- 34:55disappointment as a team president.
- 34:57He was brought in to get this building built.
- 35:01That is what he did in Minnesota.
- 35:03That is what he's here for. And we were supposed to break
- 35:07ground, if you remember, by the end of 2025.
- 35:09Well, we are not. We did not achieve that goal.
- 35:13But I do think Arlington High School will eventually be the
- 35:15destination when I have no idea. Jeff, you mentioned a little bit
- 35:20earlier obviously the true pillow injury and and sounds
- 35:22just about as devastating as you could think.
- 35:24It's not not even conversations about will he play the season
- 35:28and what his career looks like going forward.
- 35:30They had so many injuries defensively also though last
- 35:33season, Jaylen Johnson, Kyler, Gordon Stevenson, they had a ton
- 35:36of them over there. What have you heard about the
- 35:39veterans coming back and their health as they work their way
- 35:42towards next football season? And this is the argument I was
- 35:45making about the defense all offseason is that we were
- 35:47judging this defense last year without their two best players
- 35:51in their secondary. Austin Booker didn't play
- 35:53essentially the first three months of the season on the
- 35:56edge, as you saw when he came back, the difference he made.
- 35:59They were injured at defensive tackle.
- 36:01Brady Jackson wasn't Grady Jackson, Grady Jarrett.
- 36:05Grady Jarrett wasn't really healthy until about like middle
- 36:08of the season. They were really banged up on
- 36:10defense. They're going to be better
- 36:12defensively just by having Tyler Gordon and Jaylen Johnson on the
- 36:16field. So I don't think this is going
- 36:19to be a bad defense, but they certainly need more talent.
- 36:24They've added in this offseason and this is a word I keep
- 36:27hearing about. Ben Johnson, bad speed, Kobe
- 36:31Bryant fast. The new linebackers are fast.
- 36:35They are, they are not. They do not want to see the
- 36:38Christian Watson slant route go for 80 yards every time the
- 36:43Packers completed. And that is what they have
- 36:45added. So they they intend to be a
- 36:47faster team on the defensive side of the ball.
- 36:49That's what Dennis Allen wants. And I think if they're healthy
- 36:52this year on that side, they're just going to be better by
- 36:54default. How important is this year for
- 36:57Romo Doonese? They don't have to commit to him
- 36:59until next year. They can picking up his fifth
- 37:01year option. Obviously I think this is
- 37:04critical. Like I think he's a hell of a
- 37:05player. I do.
- 37:06Injuries cost him a significant amount of time last year.
- 37:09But it nonetheless my feelings aren't going to matter when it
- 37:12comes to the Bears decision. Your thoughts on the importance
- 37:15this year of a Doonese? I said this to someone the other
- 37:17day. I would watch this draft this
- 37:19weekend. If the Bears take a wide
- 37:22receiver in those first couple of picks.
- 37:24I think it's giving us a hint of what Ben Johnson and the staff
- 37:27think of Roman Doom say. I think they like him.
- 37:30I think at the start of last year, he certainly looks like a
- 37:33star on the field. Again, injuries derailed that.
- 37:36He was not the same player the last few months of the year, but
- 37:39they were very comfortable getting rid of DJ Moore.
- 37:42They love what they're getting from Luther Burden.
- 37:44Roman Doom, say, is the key to this.
- 37:46They're going to be a superstar offense or you know, top ten,
- 37:50very good productive offense. But if you see them target wide
- 37:53receiver with one of those first 3 picks, I think the reading of
- 37:57that should be to light a fire under Roma Dunes because they
- 38:01want more from their top receiver.
- 38:03One of the more under the radar signings that they made was
- 38:06Khalif Raymond, who is a slot guy.
- 38:09You know, he's kind of a gadget type of guy.
- 38:11But wait, his returnability, his punt returnability, I think it's
- 38:15a game chair. I get he's getting up there.
- 38:16He's 30, he's going to be 32 when the season begins.
- 38:18But for something that didn't cost a whole lot is going to be
- 38:21both your kick returner and your punt returner, most likely.
- 38:24I really like that signing and a veteran going in there with
- 38:27those two youngsters, with Burton and a doomsday.
- 38:29I think this is going to help out a lot more than maybe people
- 38:32on the surface we're getting credit for.
- 38:33What are your thoughts on Raymond?
- 38:35Well, think of how involved the chaos was last year.
- 38:38Yes. Essentially in that role,
- 38:40dropping past the first three months of the year non-stop.
- 38:43That's the Raymond role now because we're on Iowa radio
- 38:47taking the opportunity. I want this wet Gen. character.
- 38:53Regent. Was it reaching like we heard
- 38:56the guy those three days ago and I started watching highlights
- 38:59that I said I don't whatever, reach for him fourth round, grab
- 39:04this kid because he looks like the prototypical great special
- 39:09teamer that we have simply seen for decades in this league.
- 39:14He just looks the part like that guy.
- 39:16That guy is going to be a great retirement and a gunner.
- 39:19So if we're staying Iowa specific, I hope Ryan Polls is
- 39:23listening to this show because that kid is going to make some
- 39:26special teams, coach a lot of money moving forward.
- 39:30He is that good a return man. He is that steady a presence on
- 39:33specials. But I think a good comparison
- 39:36for him might be Khalif, because with the speed and just the
- 39:40awareness, having a reliable force, I think it's going to be
- 39:45a very I, I think this this office is going to be very good
- 39:47this year. Yeah, Ouija and the only the
- 39:49only thing I'd say tap the brakes on they've they've
- 39:52reached for an Iowa player in the fourth round before and the
- 39:54fan base went out. Now granted it was a punter, but
- 39:58it seemed like a stretch to go for.
- 40:00But Ouija is a different player now they're.
- 40:01Going to get me to criticize going for punter.
- 40:03No, I love Taylor. I love Tori Taylor.
- 40:05He's been good. Yeah.
- 40:06It's so remember when you talk about Ouija and Norwegian,
- 40:09that's essentially how I, you know, committed it to memory.
- 40:12That's that's that's interesting.
- 40:13Yeah, I, I literally, I studied the draft for one week.
- 40:16That's my rule. I don't start till last
- 40:19Thursday. He jumped off the screen to me
- 40:21on Friday and I said I'm going to promote this guy because
- 40:24this, this is an NFL return man and an NFL special teamer for a
- 40:27decade. The Bears Blog, the Bears Blog
- 40:29for Jeff Hughes and all the Bears content.
- 40:31Jeff, thanks for jumping on. Appreciate the contribution as
- 40:34always. Jeff Hughes, thank you.
- 40:35All right, take care, guys. Yeah, good to talk to Jeff
- 40:38Hughes. The Bears blog.com found a good
- 40:41one. Yes, absolutely.
- 40:42In region. He's got his vision, is running
- 40:44a year for him. His vision is incredible.
- 40:47His awareness. I thought that was a really good
- 40:48word. Awareness is just understanding
- 40:51setting up blocks so good at it. And then just.
- 40:54Angles, you know. Because he's not the absolute
- 40:57fat. Tim Dwight was faster.
- 40:58It felt like on a football field.
- 40:59It doesn't. You're right.
- 41:01He he was, he did. But it's, it's the football
- 41:03speed, right? Whatever that means.
- 41:04But it's, it's he's. Shouldn't they run 40s in pads?
- 41:08Yes you don't. You don't like the shorts and
- 41:10T-shirt? Right, because guess what?
- 41:13They're not going to. Get to you.
- 41:14They're going to get killed if that's how you take the field.
- 41:16We'll take a time out. We'll come back.
- 41:18We missed the keyword earlier. I'm guessing it's, well, I don't
- 41:21know. Head to KX and o.com if it's not
- 41:24too late. The keyword for this hour was
- 41:26cash. Cash at KX and o.com.
- 41:28Promise I'll get to next hours on time, but it was cash at KX
- 41:32and o.com. Miller and Condon back after
- 41:34these messages. I'millory Condon, welcome back.

- 41:52out with the wild tied up at 1 apiece.
- 41:54I think they was a game three night got to be right.
- 41:56It is tonight to Saint Paul. So we'll talk about that we'll
- 42:00do the twins a little bit as their come from behind victory
- 42:03last night over the Mets who've now blown her lost 12 straight.
- 42:07Hey, just real quick, some Vegas news from yesterday and I think
- 42:10it's pretty big news with the Super book being because a lot
- 42:14of folks love the Super book. I love the Super book.
- 42:16It's really cool. It's a nice.
- 42:17Property. It was the first big sport it
- 42:20was that I'd ever been to. Yep, it wasn't just, you know,
- 42:22put it in the corner, right? This was actually a full blown
- 42:25sports book. They've been purchased by
- 42:28Caesar's, which is bad for betters because it's one less
- 42:32line. You know, there's the stations,
- 42:35there's MGM, there's Caesars South Point and Circa.
- 42:42Yeah. Am I missing anybody?
- 42:43I. Don't, yeah, because like
- 42:45Peppermill is that's by that's under a different umbrella now
- 42:48I'm trying to think of the other smaller ones that are out there,
- 42:50I think stations well. You know what, Joe Asher, who
- 42:52started William Hill? Yeah, he's got Boomers.
- 42:55So maybe that's got. Yeah, that's just open.
- 42:57Just I was gonna say, I don't think.
- 42:58I'd heard of that. No, Brandon is pretty much
- 43:00within the last six months. But yeah, I know a lot of folks
- 43:03that listen to us go to Vegas or have been to Vegas over the
- 43:06years, and the Super book prior to Circa was, you know, if you
- 43:10like go to watch sports, that was the book to watch a minute
- 43:14and I know a lot of people did. I partook in the Super Book
- 43:17College contest. Did you this year?
- 43:19Yeah, that was fun. Where we picked, I think it was
- 43:21six games, seven games like that a week did.
- 43:24You get a because there wasn't many people in it.
- 43:25I don't. Think no, no, we were had an
- 43:27opportunity for maybe a top 100 finish.
- 43:29I had two different entries, one with Chris Williams, the other
- 43:32one with a group of buddies and we, I had that little moment.
- 43:36I think it was beginning in November.
- 43:37But you remember November was when the downturn started for
- 43:40me. Yeah, right.
- 43:41My 4 month ugly ugly Betty. Too bad Chris wasn't in this
- 43:45thing that year. He was.
- 43:46Remember that year? That Oh my God, on fire.
- 43:48It was like 80, well, 70 something percent.
- 43:51That was you two years ago. Two Yeah, 2.
- 43:55Those years when they happened. Yeah.
- 43:56And then you start to overthink it.
- 43:58What was I doing? You have a bad week the next
- 44:01year. Well, what was I doing then?
- 44:02Nothing. Yeah.
- 44:03It just was going. It just went our way.
- 44:04Yeah. All right, hour number two
- 44:06coming up next. Well, got a couple of seconds to
