- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always. Hello, everyone, Welcome
- 0:20Speaker 1: back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance, your home
- 0:23Speaker 1: on the Geek Ultimate Alliance podcast network for any and
- 0:26Speaker 1: all things Star Wars. I'm your host as always, Kat
- 0:31Speaker 1: and joining me for our legendary I shouldn't say legendary
- 0:35Speaker 1: because this is a Cannon book review, but I just
- 0:37Speaker 1: wanted to say legendary. It's Clay, Clay, how are you doing?
- 0:42Speaker 2: You know? I will accept legendary because this is the last,
- 0:51Speaker 2: to our knowledge, young adult novel of the High Republic.
- 0:59Speaker 2: This entire series has been legendary. This has been a
- 1:03Speaker 2: great series. It really makes me sad to think that,
- 1:10Speaker 2: like there's a possibility of not getting anything, and again
- 1:13Speaker 2: we're we're always like, oh, but maybe it's not like oh,
- 1:15Speaker 2: maybe we'll see something more like oh, Michael keeps saying
- 1:18Speaker 2: things on the interwebs like what's going to happen? But
- 1:24Speaker 2: it's it's guys. I don't know if it was for
- 1:29Speaker 2: the fact that I was just super excited to get
- 1:31Speaker 2: this book. I bought this book three times on ironically
- 1:36Speaker 2: because I was like, Hey, so here's how everything went down, guys.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I was like, hey, you know what I'm gonna say
- 1:44Speaker 2: f you to the man, to the big billionaires out there.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'm gonna cancel my Amazon. I'm not gonna order Amazon anymore,
- 1:52Speaker 2: and I am gonna order from my local bookshop. I
- 1:56Speaker 2: had no idea where that bookshop was, so I went
- 1:59Speaker 2: to bookshop and pre ordered it because I knew if
- 2:03Speaker 2: I connected it to my local shop, it would they
- 2:06Speaker 2: would get the proceeds from that order. And then I
- 2:09Speaker 2: did a quick Google search because you know, why didn't
- 2:12Speaker 2: I do that in the first place, and realized, oh,
- 2:17Speaker 2: I can literally walk to the bookstore. It is literally
- 2:20Speaker 2: that close. And so I went there one weekend and
- 2:24Speaker 2: I was like, hey, I made a boo boo. I
- 2:29Speaker 2: pre ordered this book thinking that you guys were like
- 2:32Speaker 2: downtown and I didn't realize that you're like right next
- 2:34Speaker 2: door to me. So can I cancel my pre order
- 2:37Speaker 2: and then pre order it here? And they're like, yeah, sure,
- 2:39Speaker 2: that's not a problem, and I was like cool, I
- 2:43Speaker 2: canceled my pre order and I pre ordered my book
- 2:48Speaker 2: at this bookshop. And I told Katie this. And I
- 2:52Speaker 2: told Katie as I was looking at the website because
- 2:56Speaker 2: dummy me, I was like, oh, I don't know if
- 3:00Speaker 2: I'm going to be able to like cancel my order
- 3:02Speaker 2: because it doesn't say and canceled orders. Oh, but it
- 3:05Speaker 2: actually says here that I can cancel pre orders as
- 3:09Speaker 2: long as they don't ship, and I'll be good. And
- 3:12Speaker 2: then I said something along the lines of like, I
- 3:16Speaker 2: can't remember if I actually, like you said, you.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Were trying to figure out. This was when you were
- 3:23Speaker 1: trying to figure out if you could just have them
- 3:26Speaker 1: hold your shipping shipped order and so you could go
- 3:30Speaker 1: pick it up. And you were like, oh, but they're
- 3:32Speaker 1: closed on Tuesdays. That's why I have to go tomorrow
- 3:37Speaker 1: to go, or you said, so I have to go
- 3:40Speaker 1: Wednesday because this was like a Monday or sometimes yeah. Yeah,
- 3:44Speaker 1: so yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 2: And it didn't dawn on me. Stame on this bookstore,
- 3:48Speaker 2: by the way, it didn't dawn on me that books globally,
- 3:54Speaker 2: not just in America, globally released on Tuesdays.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Yep.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And I know this because I'm in the freaking publishing
- 4:04Speaker 2: world now with comics, and there is publishers that come
- 4:09Speaker 2: to us and they're like, hey, you know, we want
- 4:11Speaker 2: to do this on a Tuesday to hit the direct market.
- 4:13Speaker 2: I'm like, sorry, we run off of the comic market.
- 4:16Speaker 2: All of our releases are on Wednesdays. Sorry, that's just
- 4:19Speaker 2: how it's going to be. So I knew this. I
- 4:22Speaker 2: knew that this book was going to come out on
- 4:24Speaker 2: a Tuesday, and I just nonchalantley told Katie that this
- 4:28Speaker 2: bookstore was going to be closed on a Tuesday. Come
- 4:31Speaker 2: the release day, I drive all the way to the
- 4:35Speaker 2: bookstore and they're closed. I knew this, my subconscious knew this,
- 4:41Speaker 2: but I was somehow surprised, and I told Katie, damn it,
- 4:45Speaker 2: they're closed today, Son of a bitch. What am I
- 4:49Speaker 2: supposed to do? Like, you know what? You know what? Here?
- 4:52Speaker 2: Hold on, hold on. We read digital books all the time.
- 4:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna grab this book digitally. I'm gonna I was like, well,
- 5:00Speaker 2: I don't want to do Kindle. I don't want to
- 5:02Speaker 2: do Amazon because again I don't want to give billionaires
- 5:05Speaker 2: more money. And again I understand. So I bought it
- 5:08Speaker 2: from Apple. I went to Apple, the other billion dollar company.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I know, I know, I know, but I also feel
- 5:14Speaker 2: like it would have been cheaper than ten dollars. I
- 5:17Speaker 2: still don't know how much Into the Light is on Kindle.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Currently, it was nine dollars because I paid for it.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Damn you, bezos. I spent the ten dollars on Apple Books.
- 5:33Speaker 1: I also had three dollar credits. I actually only paid
- 5:35Speaker 1: like six dollars. I'm sorry I paid. I'm a new mom.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I need convenience.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I totally, I totally get it. I get it. But
- 5:48Speaker 2: I bought this book a total of three times, and
- 5:55Speaker 2: I have all three copies here in my house, my
- 5:58Speaker 2: phone and both physical. So again I will reiterate. If
- 6:07Speaker 2: you guys would like to use the Star Wars Alliance
- 6:12Speaker 2: hotline and or the email that we have, you can
- 6:22Speaker 2: do so. Hotline, of course is eight three zero five
- 6:26Speaker 2: three eight four eight two eight. You could text or
- 6:28Speaker 2: leave a voicemail to tell us your thoughts on Into
- 6:35Speaker 2: the Light? What did you like about it? What did
- 6:38Speaker 2: you hate about it? If you did, what are your
- 6:41Speaker 2: thoughts on phase three so far? Any and all let
- 6:46Speaker 2: us know. I will be giving that copy of Into
- 6:51Speaker 2: the Light away to one of the lucky people persons
- 6:58Speaker 2: that either send a text or leave a message with
- 7:02Speaker 2: the hotline and or use the Gmail account that we
- 7:05Speaker 2: have Star Wars Alliance at gmail dot com. Of course,
- 7:09Speaker 2: that is s T A R W R s A
- 7:13Speaker 2: L L I a n C E at gmail dot
- 7:18Speaker 2: com with that Haiti this book.
- 7:27Speaker 1: So you want to know why I said legendary I
- 7:32Speaker 1: have a hot take. Uh oh, well, okay, I don't
- 7:35Speaker 1: know if it's a hot take because I have not
- 7:38Speaker 1: been on social media ad ont whatsoever, like all the
- 7:43Speaker 1: cinema con stuff Like I'm getting it like four or
- 7:46Speaker 1: five hours late, and so I don't know if this
- 7:51Speaker 1: is a hot take. But I'm gonna say Claudia Gray
- 7:55Speaker 1: And I know I should preface this by saying, I
- 7:58Speaker 1: know you have no experience with Claudia Grat as an
- 8:01Speaker 1: author outside of the Higher Republic.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Correct. I have not read any of her other Star
- 8:07Speaker 2: Wars stuff outside of the Higher Republic. Correct.
- 8:12Speaker 1: We will fix that at some point, because her stuff
- 8:15Speaker 1: outside of the High Republic is leaps and bounds better
- 8:23Speaker 1: than what she's put forward in the Higher Republic. Really completely,
- 8:30Speaker 1: And Snell might hate me for this too, But like,
- 8:36Speaker 1: Into the Dark sucked. I love Wreath as a character,
- 8:39Speaker 1: Don't get me wrong, it was.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I wouldn't say it for me personally. Again, Into the
- 8:51Speaker 2: Dark was my first Claudia Ray clad Claudia great book.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I would not say that it sucked. I think that
- 9:03Speaker 2: there was a lot of moving parts, even for a
- 9:09Speaker 2: first young adult novel of a franchise, and.
- 9:13Speaker 1: There always is when you get into a bigger story.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And Claudia Gray's other works, Bloodline is a one shot.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It interacts with the movies and the movies alone.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Oh well, hold on, hold on. I did read Master
- 9:31Speaker 2: and Apprentice.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You did read Master and Apprentice. Okay, right, and that's
- 9:37Speaker 1: a decent book, it's not Bloodline. Lost Stars and Leah,
- 9:43Speaker 1: Princess of Alderin are some of my favorites out of
- 9:47Speaker 1: Star Wars novels in general, Lost Stars in particular, the
- 9:53Speaker 1: Romeo and Juliet.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Of That's right, yes, yes.
- 9:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so you have read that at least that is true.
- 10:04Speaker 1: But Fallen Star not a way to end Phase one
- 10:10Speaker 1: of the Higher Republic in my opinion, Like it was okay,
- 10:14Speaker 1: but after Rising Storm, Fallen Star struggled a lot.
- 10:20Speaker 2: In my book, I think so too. Yeah.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And Claudia wrote a comic in phase two, right, She
- 10:30Speaker 1: didn't write a single book in phase two, And this
- 10:36Speaker 1: is her first piece of work in Phase three, first
- 10:41Speaker 1: and last. And I know authors are all the time
- 10:44Speaker 1: gonna go in other directions they want to work on
- 10:48Speaker 1: personal material they found, Oh, this medium didn't work for me.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Totally fine, completely understand. I don't think Claudia writes well
- 10:59Speaker 1: as part of a team at the end of the day.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Well, and I think that it's a little unfair to well,
- 11:13Speaker 2: let me backtrack. I think that anybody can struggle with
- 11:19Speaker 2: the restraint of having to wait and or restrict oneself
- 11:26Speaker 2: based on others when it comes to a creative medium
- 11:31Speaker 2: like writing.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yes, and this is really weird for me as somebody
- 11:39Speaker 1: who has loved the Star Wars Legends books, the use
- 11:43Speaker 1: on Vong New Jedi Order stuff like I love with
- 11:47Speaker 1: a passion the Legacy of the four series, love it like,
- 11:53Speaker 1: had a bunch of fun with it, and then like
- 11:57Speaker 1: Faded the Jedi. A little weird, but it worked in
- 12:00Speaker 1: my opinion, in those I think those work a little
- 12:06Speaker 1: bit more because the authors alternated, and so you had
- 12:12Speaker 1: three authors work on Legacy of the Force. You had
- 12:14Speaker 1: three authors work on Fate of the Jedi, and you
- 12:17Speaker 1: had I don't remember, I think it's Troy Aaron, Troy Dinning,
- 12:23Speaker 1: Aaron Austen, and Karen something in like Fate of the
- 12:28Speaker 1: Jedi for example, those three, so it would go Troy, Aaron,
- 12:32Speaker 1: Karen Troy, Aaron Karen, Troy Aaron Karen, and you had
- 12:37Speaker 1: to carry over each character obviously, but like some like
- 12:43Speaker 1: Troy's books focused a lot more on Han and Leiah,
- 12:47Speaker 1: and Karen's books focused more on the Jedi Order as
- 12:52Speaker 1: a whole. Troy's books focus on Luke and Pinn. So
- 12:58Speaker 1: is like you had characters of focus, and while the
- 13:02Speaker 1: story is still moved forward, it like you still have
- 13:07Speaker 1: characters of focus, and it made sense, like you didn't
- 13:14Speaker 1: have to go, oh, we have to include the Jedi Order.
- 13:17Speaker 1: We have to include Han Leiah, we have to include
- 13:20Speaker 1: Luke and Ben like and like this is the struggle
- 13:24Speaker 1: of this story is that we have to include the blight. Oh,
- 13:28Speaker 1: we have to include the drink gear. Oh, we have
- 13:31Speaker 1: to have wreath. We have to have Afy, the vessel crew,
- 13:37Speaker 1: like we have to have Nan, we have to have
- 13:39Speaker 1: marchi on, we have to have Geara. We have to
- 13:42Speaker 1: have mccampa. You know how many times I had to
- 13:44Speaker 1: go look up who mccampbell was out here, read every
- 13:47Speaker 1: single thing, but the Phase three comics that are like
- 13:51Speaker 1: out right now, I mcampa felt like she came out
- 13:56Speaker 1: of left field, with how much the main character she
- 13:59Speaker 1: was in this book.
- 14:00Speaker 2: She did feel a little off. And I'm not going
- 14:06Speaker 2: to say that this book was unnecessary, because I do
- 14:13Speaker 2: think I do think that it played a because once again,
- 14:18Speaker 2: when you look at the core idea of Star Wars, people,
- 14:24Speaker 2: you look at the core idea of Star Wars. This
- 14:26Speaker 2: did the one thing that it needed to. It needed
- 14:30Speaker 2: to give the characters in the story hope. Yep, and
- 14:35Speaker 2: I think Claudia Gray did an amazing job doing that.
- 14:40Speaker 1: With in the last seven chapters.
- 14:42Speaker 2: In the last seven chapters, yes, but here's the thing.
- 14:46Speaker 1: All right, y'all, we're going to hit our first ad
- 14:48Speaker 1: break and we will be right back in three two one.
- 14:53Speaker 2: There was a lot of back and forth, a lot
- 14:58Speaker 2: of here and there, a lot of hey, let's kind
- 15:02Speaker 2: of stretch this. Then we were just talking before we
- 15:07Speaker 2: started recording how many chapters this is? This is thirty
- 15:10Speaker 2: six chapters. I don't think it needed to be thirty
- 15:12Speaker 2: six chapters because there was there was randomly.
- 15:17Speaker 1: The smallest young adult book.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Yeah. The one problem that I had with this is
- 15:25Speaker 2: there was two scenes in particular that were literally written
- 15:33Speaker 2: for almost zero reason. There was one scene with like
- 15:39Speaker 2: a very dangerous legendary creature inside of Kashik that even
- 15:48Speaker 2: Wookies were kind of like you know, on warn like
- 15:53Speaker 2: they were they were always in high alert for. And
- 15:56Speaker 2: it was this creature that Nan had seen her in
- 16:01Speaker 2: her window of her hut. And then like this creature
- 16:07Speaker 2: interacted with the drink gear and that was it. That
- 16:11Speaker 2: was it, that that was nothing came of that. Like
- 16:17Speaker 2: like CLUDIEA. Gray explained it as like this legendary creature
- 16:21Speaker 2: that everybody should fear and all these other things and
- 16:23Speaker 2: then boom, one interaction with a drineer. Done. Yep.
- 16:29Speaker 1: It just it feels like they wanted to explore Kashik,
- 16:35Speaker 1: like they're setting up like the next book that's gonna
- 16:38Speaker 1: happen is going to be about this trouble seed or
- 16:43Speaker 1: whatever it was. I can't remember, uh what was the
- 16:46Speaker 1: name of it.
- 16:47Speaker 2: It was the Uh oh I have it? It was
- 16:50Speaker 2: uh dang it. I have the Wikipedia up too. Maybe
- 16:56Speaker 2: that will also tell us, uh maybe maybe not.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Hey, I'm gonna pull it on my kendle so I
- 17:06Speaker 1: could look.
- 17:10Speaker 2: But did you know that this book actually Retcon's life.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Debt because it's completely healed.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Thorn Seed thorn Seed. Yes, this book accidentally,
- 17:36Speaker 2: because I don't think it was done on purpose. I
- 17:40Speaker 2: would not think. But this technically retcon's a portion of
- 17:49Speaker 2: life debt. We just spoke about this on our other
- 17:53Speaker 2: live show the other day.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I again, I always struggle with the word retcon. But
- 17:59Speaker 1: would this being one hundred and thirty years or so,
- 18:04Speaker 1: because this is one hundred and fifty years before the
- 18:06Speaker 1: Phantom Menace? So actually like two hundred years because we're
- 18:09Speaker 1: talking like, no, okay, so one hundred fifty years is
- 18:17Speaker 1: the Phantom Menace, then about fifteen years to Revenge of
- 18:20Speaker 1: the Sith, and then twenty so years, so like two
- 18:26Speaker 1: seventy one to seventy five, yeah, almost two hundred years. Yeah,
- 18:36Speaker 1: so in two hundred years something else could have happened
- 18:40Speaker 1: to leave that spot on Kashik. Everybody just kind of said, oh,
- 18:46Speaker 1: this is the evidence of the blight, Like yeah, don't. Like.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I actually really like the last ten ish chapters of
- 18:56Speaker 1: this book, Like, I really think it wrapped everything up
- 19:00Speaker 1: quite nicely. And the way the blight is healed on Kashik,
- 19:04Speaker 1: I think has a lot of meaning for hey, like
- 19:08Speaker 1: our efforts are always so focused on these things imagine
- 19:14Speaker 1: what the world could do if we didn't have to
- 19:16Speaker 1: worry about world peace, hunger, war, and like.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And that was I think it was des that had
- 19:25Speaker 2: said something along those lines of like he was because
- 19:31Speaker 2: when all sudden done, and I know we're jumping around here,
- 19:34Speaker 2: but when all said and done, they had a celebration
- 19:40Speaker 2: and the very.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry, guys, this is totally like off our regular review,
- 19:45Speaker 1: but like these things bugged the crap out of Yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 2: But like deays at the very end, he was saying, like, oh, yeah,
- 19:52Speaker 2: you know, I for a moment I did feel like,
- 19:55Speaker 2: probably we shouldn't be celebrating. But that's the whole point
- 19:58Speaker 2: of doing this, is that like, eventually, hopefully we don't
- 20:04Speaker 2: have to be on alert twenty four to seven over
- 20:08Speaker 2: these things. And like I get that, and I really
- 20:14Speaker 2: enjoyed that. And like you said, the last ten chapters
- 20:16Speaker 2: were really, really good. I really liked how it wrapped up.
- 20:21Speaker 2: But going kind of back to the beginning of the
- 20:27Speaker 2: book so that way we don't lose our listeners too
- 20:29Speaker 2: too much. Again, you had said something already twelve chapters
- 20:37Speaker 2: in and me not reading it for it yet you
- 20:42Speaker 2: had said, oh, I think because you didn't know, And
- 20:48Speaker 2: I think this really did do what you said it did,
- 20:52Speaker 2: or that it was going to do you said in
- 20:54Speaker 2: our last live show, you said, I think this is
- 20:58Speaker 2: going to wrap up the story of the drink gear,
- 21:02Speaker 2: and that it'll put a nice little bow on it
- 21:06Speaker 2: because into the dark introduced the drink gear into the
- 21:11Speaker 2: light should put an end to that conflict.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Yep, and the drinker do, like, I don't do we
- 21:21Speaker 1: want to say what heels Kashi and the drink gear,
- 21:26Speaker 1: or do we not want to say that?
- 21:30Speaker 2: I didn't get the okay from the wookies, so I
- 21:32Speaker 2: don't know if I.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Should be I like that okay, So we're not going
- 21:39Speaker 1: to tell you what heals. But the drinker do end
- 21:42Speaker 1: up being able to step into the light through basically
- 21:47Speaker 1: a miracle of the force at the end of it,
- 21:52Speaker 1: and so like, it is a really powerful moment about
- 21:56Speaker 1: how freeing up resources can really re direct those efforts.
- 22:02Speaker 1: And I'm interested to see because we know other planets
- 22:06Speaker 1: have been seated, Like all of the drink gear that
- 22:08Speaker 1: ended up on Kashik were from Iram, but we know
- 22:14Speaker 1: other plants were seated, So will they eventually make their
- 22:17Speaker 1: way to Kashik Or is it like I'm trying to think,
- 22:22Speaker 1: is it like kid of Mind where they all get
- 22:29Speaker 1: affected because the great Progenitor was on Kashik so that
- 22:35Speaker 1: those efforts could replicate outwards. Maybe we'll see something of
- 22:41Speaker 1: the sort and Edge of Balance, because Edge of Balance
- 22:43Speaker 1: has been the other prominent drink gear story well.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And the thing is you have to remember also even
- 22:51Speaker 2: in a Haunted Starlight, the one that we just recorded
- 22:56Speaker 2: our review on, there was some drink gear there that
- 22:59Speaker 2: kind of stepped away from the Great Progenitor, So like
- 23:05Speaker 2: there could be still dringer out there that aren't necessarily
- 23:12Speaker 2: in that hive mine as strongly, you know, But I'm
- 23:18Speaker 2: interested to see because I'm not saying I think that
- 23:29Speaker 2: it would be interesting if they still had some driner
- 23:32Speaker 2: out there into the world not be affected by what
- 23:35Speaker 2: happened in this book. And the reason why I say
- 23:38Speaker 2: that is because you are able to still use them.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Let's say, let's say lucasfilm is like, hey, those like
- 23:50Speaker 2: plant creatures that you guys used in those books, those
- 23:54Speaker 2: are really cool. We want to use it for our
- 23:55Speaker 2: next film. And it's because of the sequel series, and
- 23:58Speaker 2: you're like, okay, well, thankfully we showed this one aspect
- 24:03Speaker 2: in this audio drama that they can still be affected
- 24:06Speaker 2: outside of the hive mine. So let's just say they
- 24:10Speaker 2: were still out there.
- 24:11Speaker 1: That's really a good point. And because we know the
- 24:14Speaker 1: drink you're activated, because the statues with the dark Side
- 24:18Speaker 1: influence were removed from the vaccine station. So what's to
- 24:22Speaker 1: say because the Kampa and Road we're seating planets and
- 24:28Speaker 1: they were like, yeah, they'll stay in stasis for a
- 24:30Speaker 1: bit and then they'll activate and like really cause chaos.
- 24:34Speaker 1: So what's to say, Like, if a dark Side user
- 24:37Speaker 1: comes into contact with another drink ear pod that's been
- 24:40Speaker 1: in stasis, what's to say they couldn't react as an
- 24:45Speaker 1: evil drinker for sure? Before we get too far into it.
- 24:51Speaker 1: LGBTQ re reference in the influence on this book, we
- 24:58Speaker 1: have Vernestra, we have Amadeo in his relationship with the
- 25:04Speaker 1: medic is still kind of present in the first couple
- 25:07Speaker 1: of chapters. Reef obviously, Uh, I think it's about it, right.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I think. So, I'm trying to remember if there was
- 25:25Speaker 2: anything else, because I'm not remembering anything off the top.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I just wanted to make sure we did
- 25:36Speaker 1: get that representation there. In this book, Amadeo does not
- 25:44Speaker 1: play as big a part as I thought he was
- 25:47Speaker 1: going to play in this.
- 25:49Speaker 2: I thought he may have like that. I thought he
- 25:52Speaker 2: was going to have a little bit more of a
- 25:56Speaker 2: uh moment in this book. Considering what transpired in Tears
- 26:06Speaker 2: of the Nameless, like we, I thought, Okay, this is
- 26:10Speaker 2: going to be more of like a core group of individuals,
- 26:13Speaker 2: and yet like, yeah, they were, and I'm not going
- 26:16Speaker 2: to say that they weren't, but this book heavily sided
- 26:22Speaker 2: with u Wreith, with Appy, with Nan, which makes.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Sense because those are Claudia's characters that she built from
- 26:35Speaker 1: the beginning, comack everything, like so it almost feels like
- 26:41Speaker 1: she said, yeah, like you made Amadeo for your book,
- 26:45Speaker 1: which totally makes sense, like that George and Charles wanted
- 26:50Speaker 1: Amadeo around. Yeah, but Claudie's like, he doesn't really benefit
- 26:55Speaker 1: me in this book. And to be fair, he was
- 26:59Speaker 1: more in use with the light research versus the drink. Hear.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yep, so.
- 27:09Speaker 1: You and I have not read what is it? Echoes
- 27:13Speaker 1: of Fear is the is the Wreath? And Amadeo and
- 27:19Speaker 1: Comac comic by George Mann. That review is currently scheduled
- 27:24Speaker 1: golf for May twenty ninth. If you are interested in
- 27:31Speaker 1: where that one's going to end up, that one is
- 27:34Speaker 1: where that's currently scheduled. So I'm interested to see how
- 27:38Speaker 1: this plays out, because we did find out and it's
- 27:41Speaker 1: a spoiler for the comic, but that they do have
- 27:44Speaker 1: the third Rod. I can't remember. It's like Rod of Seasons,
- 27:48Speaker 1: Rod of Daylight and something, but they have the third Rod.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Yeah, they they mention it here in this book as well,
- 27:58Speaker 2: and I think it's even was it Avon or or
- 28:02Speaker 2: one other person is like kind of questioning, He's like, oh, well,
- 28:05Speaker 2: I could get into that whole thing, but that's for
- 28:08Speaker 2: another time. And then he kind of just like side
- 28:10Speaker 2: steps it. And I feel like there was a lot
- 28:14Speaker 2: of that, and it's it's not it was more so
- 28:17Speaker 2: I think Claudia's way of saying, like, Hey, all your
- 28:21Speaker 2: answers will be coming, just not in this book. This
- 28:25Speaker 2: book is for this group of characters. We're gonna end
- 28:28Speaker 2: this story and then we're gonna move on again.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Not a bad thing, especially after what we talked about
- 28:38Speaker 1: last week where the where Hanjit Starlight kind of even
- 28:41Speaker 1: went back into sees the Starlight to over explain it again,
- 28:45Speaker 1: not a bad thing, it's just, especially after cheers the Nameless,
- 28:51Speaker 1: You're like, but blight, Yeah, but blight like.
- 28:56Speaker 2: And and that's a big thing, like one. I don't
- 28:58Speaker 2: think a lot of people really understand the scope of
- 29:02Speaker 2: what the Blight is threatening. The galaxy not just like
- 29:08Speaker 2: a planet or two, It's a galaxy and we we
- 29:16Speaker 2: are hit with that realization literally opening this book, there
- 29:23Speaker 2: is a group of Jedi Reath included, saving a planet
- 29:30Speaker 2: that has already been taken over by the Blight and
- 29:34Speaker 2: is literally crumbling. As they are trying to escape. A
- 29:40Speaker 2: group of Jedi are holding a building.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Falls on what the Jedi Council members like, Yeah.
- 29:47Speaker 2: To the point, to the point, and I just want
- 29:49Speaker 2: to give a trigger warning. This is kind of horrifying.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Wreath goes to double check if he could find this
- 29:57Speaker 2: Jedi master and literally only sees his body. His head
- 30:02Speaker 2: was completely crushed, like whoa.
- 30:07Speaker 1: And it did get kind of more graphic than I
- 30:12Speaker 1: would intend for a young adult book, but maybe that's
- 30:16Speaker 1: just me. Is like a eh, I don't like that
- 30:18Speaker 1: kind of stuff.
- 30:19Speaker 2: It was kind of jarring, but I think that was
- 30:22Speaker 2: the whole point. The first few chapters or I guess
- 30:28Speaker 2: the first chapter. I can't even remember how long it was,
- 30:31Speaker 2: this whole incident, but like it felt like it took
- 30:35Speaker 2: a while.
- 30:37Speaker 1: It was a decent portion of the first twelve chapters.
- 30:43Speaker 2: And the whole reason behind it, again is to get
- 30:47Speaker 2: the reader to understand the scope of what it means
- 30:52Speaker 2: for a planet to be eaten alive by the blight.
- 30:56Speaker 1: We're gonna go into our second ad break and we'll
- 31:00Speaker 1: be right back.
- 31:02Speaker 2: There's a moment where they when another building crashes and
- 31:07Speaker 2: like all of the dust just comes at them in
- 31:10Speaker 2: a wave. One of Reith's first thoughts is, Oh, we're
- 31:16Speaker 2: all gonna die because the blight particles are just going
- 31:19Speaker 2: to touch us without even knowing, like, and we're just
- 31:22Speaker 2: all going to start disintegrating.
- 31:25Speaker 1: And so okay, just for the reference, I thought it
- 31:29Speaker 1: took up a good portion. Really it's only like the
- 31:33Speaker 1: first five chapters, okay, but still even so, still has
- 31:37Speaker 1: a lot of the campus stuff in it. Yeah.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Again, a lot of these books, we've already been over
- 31:46Speaker 2: this before. But a lot of these books will go
- 31:48Speaker 2: from one perspective to the other and then back again
- 31:53Speaker 2: to really give you the full scope of these stories.
- 31:58Speaker 2: But like, yeah, like the the the destruction of the
- 32:01Speaker 2: first planet was very horrifying. It was very very traumatic,
- 32:09Speaker 2: and they did it on purpose. If Claudia was very
- 32:12Speaker 2: much again like I said, trying to tell the audience, Hey,
- 32:16Speaker 2: this is what it means. Because when we first got
- 32:21Speaker 2: introduced to the moon that was being eaten up, we like.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Are introduced to like this industrial like planet like almost
- 32:32Speaker 1: course almost with like there's buildings literally every yeah foot
- 32:39Speaker 1: kind of thing.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Yeah, and we and it was only a small scope
- 32:42Speaker 2: of like a small portion of people that were needing
- 32:46Speaker 2: to be saved, right, and they got those out of
- 32:48Speaker 2: the way. Oh yeah, there was you know, of course,
- 32:51Speaker 2: uh what's his name who had to cut off his hand?
- 32:54Speaker 2: That was traumatic and everything else, But this was crowds
- 32:59Speaker 2: of people. In the first chapters of this book, how
- 33:02Speaker 2: are we going to save evacuate the entire wall basically,
- 33:08Speaker 2: And when we are introduced again to Kashik being hit
- 33:14Speaker 2: with the blight, you then have to wonder, oh, no,
- 33:18Speaker 2: all of the wookies, how are we going to get
- 33:21Speaker 2: all of the wookies off the planet, especially when even
- 33:25Speaker 2: in the council meeting they're like, hey, wookie, you see
- 33:29Speaker 2: their planet way more than just a planet that they
- 33:31Speaker 2: live on. It's like a religious thing and like all
- 33:35Speaker 2: of these other things, and like it's sacred and all
- 33:37Speaker 2: this other stuff. Like they're probably not gonna want to
- 33:40Speaker 2: leave whatsoever, so we have to do what we can
- 33:42Speaker 2: to save them and or get them off planet. So,
- 33:46Speaker 2: like you're going into this thinking this is a lose
- 33:50Speaker 2: lose situation. How do they fix this? And again, gonna
- 33:56Speaker 2: keep this for you guys to witness on your own.
- 34:00Speaker 2: There is a galactic miracle that happens in this story.
- 34:08Speaker 1: And I kind of laugh with Avon because Avon is
- 34:11Speaker 1: there as the trusted researcher to kind of say, Okay,
- 34:17Speaker 1: how can we resolve the blight and how can we
- 34:21Speaker 1: cure the blight? And we've kind of confesses to her
- 34:24Speaker 1: in the beginning before they even get to Cachik, because
- 34:26Speaker 1: it takes them probably until chapter fifteen to get to Kashik.
- 34:31Speaker 1: And he goes, yeah, I don't think there's a cure
- 34:35Speaker 1: at the end of the day.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Like and that was the that was the conversation that
- 34:39Speaker 2: they had. It was, Okay, let's come to terms with
- 34:43Speaker 2: this right now. There is no cure. Whatever Marchion Roe
- 34:48Speaker 2: is saying, is the cure is a lie? Yeah, because
- 34:51Speaker 2: he is just wanting to cause chaos? So what do
- 34:55Speaker 2: we do? And both Avon and Wreath both the reed, Hey,
- 35:01Speaker 2: we don't say anything. Let's just see what we're up
- 35:05Speaker 2: against and then just decide how things go as they go.
- 35:11Speaker 1: Yeah. And Avon's conversation with her professor of all people
- 35:15Speaker 1: at the end of this, and the Professor's like, nonsense,
- 35:18Speaker 1: it worked once, it'll work again.
- 35:21Speaker 2: No, and and and again. We can't tell you how
- 35:25Speaker 2: it is done, but it's not something you can replicate.
- 35:30Speaker 2: M h And it's I'm very curious.
- 35:35Speaker 1: The Force is misunderstood in a galaxy far far away exactly.
- 35:40Speaker 3: No, no, no, like I I like, it's so funny when
- 35:47Speaker 3: it actually happened, When this miracle happened, I'm like, the
- 35:53Speaker 3: first thought in my head was, Okay, how does this
- 35:56Speaker 3: happen for an entire galaxy?
- 35:58Speaker 2: Mm hmm right, And then I'm like, are we going
- 36:04Speaker 2: to see literally all the Jedi because because again, same
- 36:10Speaker 2: thing that happened in Tears of the Nameless and in
- 36:14Speaker 2: Temptation of the Force, we had a meditation team here
- 36:19Speaker 2: in kashik and they were performing meditation and pushing the
- 36:25Speaker 2: blight back in the small spot. And then at one point,
- 36:32Speaker 2: even by the way, we get a name drop kal
- 36:35Speaker 2: Naka is here, really glad he's here now. By the way,
- 36:42Speaker 2: Claudia Gray explained, it is kal Naka younger or older
- 36:46Speaker 2: than Burryaga. He's older, he is older, Okay, okay, I
- 36:51Speaker 2: thought so. Kal Naka and Bury both at one point
- 36:57Speaker 2: joined the meditation team to the blight back, and so
- 37:03Speaker 2: in my mind, I was thinking, is there gonna be
- 37:08Speaker 2: some weird like center of the galaxy type of thing
- 37:12Speaker 2: where all of the Jedi are going to gather and
- 37:15Speaker 2: like do something with the force and all this other stuff.
- 37:20Speaker 2: I'm not I'm genuinely curious. Yeah, like it it. Here's
- 37:29Speaker 2: the thing. Do we find out in Valiant val and
- 37:33Speaker 2: then pursue that in trials or do we not see
- 37:38Speaker 2: anything until trials.
- 37:40Speaker 1: That's what I'm curious about. Because Bergerie and Bell are
- 37:45Speaker 1: basically split up for the first time ever because the
- 37:49Speaker 1: Jedi get rumors that Marcion is on a specific planet
- 37:56Speaker 1: like right on the edge of the Unknown Regions, and
- 37:59Speaker 1: Bell just to take after Markion and Bury wants to
- 38:03Speaker 1: take care of his home world. So they kind of
- 38:07Speaker 1: split up in that regard, so I was kind of
- 38:11Speaker 1: thinking that maybe Trials was going to show that endeavor.
- 38:15Speaker 1: But then we find out that Markion actually had laid
- 38:18Speaker 1: those rumors out and it's on a completely different planet.
- 38:22Speaker 1: So I am curious to see what happens. I don't
- 38:27Speaker 1: exactly know. I don't think Justina is going to tackle
- 38:32Speaker 1: the blight necessarily. I think she's going to wrap Emory's
- 38:35Speaker 1: story up, and it looks like tup Tap is going
- 38:38Speaker 1: to be in that story. So I don't I don't
- 38:43Speaker 1: know what Justina's gonna tackle. I saylight, yeah, especially from
- 38:50Speaker 1: what you've said about way Seeker, which I'm gonna leave
- 38:52Speaker 1: it at that. But well, like the.
- 38:55Speaker 2: We know that like Years of the Nameless wrapped up
- 39:01Speaker 2: the nameless. Mm hmm, this wrapped up the drink gear.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Well it did Tears of the Nameless wrap up the nameless.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Like it didn't didn't. That's the thing. Like, we got closure,
- 39:15Speaker 2: but we didn't get closure. We got answers. We got
- 39:22Speaker 2: a this is how we beat them. We got a solution.
- 39:27Speaker 2: That's what we got. We got a solution. Now we
- 39:30Speaker 2: got to find that solution. We have to work towards
- 39:33Speaker 2: that solution.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, Like, I really feel like there needs to
- 39:38Speaker 1: be some sort of wrap up here, because Charles has
- 39:42Speaker 1: stated that we are not going to know the ending
- 39:46Speaker 1: for what's coming for Trials of the Jedi until like
- 39:49Speaker 1: the last few pages. So how do you wrap up?
- 39:53Speaker 1: Because basically what we found out in Tears of the
- 39:55Speaker 1: Nameless is that the Nameless have to be returned to
- 39:57Speaker 1: Planet X at the end of the day. Mm hmm,
- 40:03Speaker 1: So how do you wrap that up in the last
- 40:07Speaker 1: few chapters.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I just had a horrible thought, how long do you
- 40:11Speaker 2: think Trials is?
- 40:14Speaker 1: Oh? Charles stated that in a newsletter somewhere.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Did he really?
- 40:19Speaker 1: I think he did. I'll have to go back and look.
- 40:22Speaker 1: I've got too many newsletters of his in my inbox
- 40:25Speaker 1: to go look right now? Okay, what did you think
- 40:31Speaker 1: of des Ryden's return? With three years of the bargrash
- 40:36Speaker 1: Vow under his belt, he returns in the opening chapters
- 40:39Speaker 1: and is here in the entire time and kind of
- 40:43Speaker 1: leads the team to the Darkness, which I think is
- 40:45Speaker 1: going to be probably the last thing. I actually, no,
- 40:47Speaker 1: it's not the last thing, because we have to talk
- 40:49Speaker 1: about Comac returning the Jedi order too. But what did
- 40:54Speaker 1: you think about dez.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Okay, real quick, hang ran the house product details.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Oh yeah, that's true.
- 41:05Speaker 2: We have that Trials the Nameless four Jedi, sorry, Trials
- 41:10Speaker 2: of the Jedi four hundred and forty eight pages. Okay,
- 41:17Speaker 2: this was three hundred and sixty pages.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Which is still young adults, so it's shorter.
- 41:23Speaker 2: Yeah, how much? How long was uh The Light of
- 41:31Speaker 2: the Jedi? Okay?
- 41:35Speaker 1: Oh, there's no page numbers in this book. Okay, there
- 41:38Speaker 1: it is. Sorry, okay. So this book, which is probably
- 41:43Speaker 1: about the same height, so Aragon is four hundred and
- 41:47Speaker 1: ninety seven pages.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Four hundred and ninety seven, so.
- 41:51Speaker 1: That a lot of people know what Airon is. So
- 41:55Speaker 1: that kind of gives you an idea.
- 41:57Speaker 2: So you're asking Light of the Jedi, yep, because that
- 42:02Speaker 2: was the that's the only Charles book that's in this
- 42:05Speaker 2: whole High Republic.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Also, by the way, while we're doing this, Clay
- 42:13Speaker 1: when asking for the number of pages into the Light
- 42:17Speaker 1: spoiled the book for me. So the Jedi is three
- 42:21Speaker 1: hundred and seventy seven pages.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Oh oh, there's plenty of story there, okay, okay.
- 42:29Speaker 1: But again last few pages resolves the entire.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I don't like that he said that. I don't think
- 42:38Speaker 2: he should have said that.
- 42:40Speaker 1: He should have said that either, but he likes to
- 42:42Speaker 1: tease Charles.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Yes, so the story goes. Guys, because I had bought
- 42:50Speaker 2: this book three times, I was trying to decide, like
- 42:53Speaker 2: how quickly I could read it, and I had asked Katie.
- 42:59Speaker 2: I was like, Hey, how many pages is the book now? Guys.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I didn't think about this when I asked her the question.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Katie has a pre programmed brain that whenever she sees
- 43:12Speaker 2: a page, she needs to look through that page because
- 43:17Speaker 2: she's a scan reader. It's just something that she has
- 43:20Speaker 2: pre programmed that her I feel like that her parents
- 43:23Speaker 2: pre programmed her with. So when I asked for her
- 43:29Speaker 2: page see, a normal individual would have been looking at
- 43:34Speaker 2: the bottom of the page, probably holding the top of
- 43:38Speaker 2: the spine to not even open the book. But no,
- 43:42Speaker 2: Katie opened the entire book, went to the last page,
- 43:46Speaker 2: read the page, and then saw the page count and
- 43:50Speaker 2: decided not to cuss me out because she spoiled herself. Uh.
- 43:55Speaker 1: I didn't read the whole page. I saw two important
- 43:58Speaker 1: words because my brain is to look for like the
- 44:03Speaker 1: names of characters and then like big words that any.
- 44:08Speaker 2: Kind of context clues for said character. Yeah, for sure,
- 44:12Speaker 2: because that I can skip.
- 44:15Speaker 1: And because like if you have like a description page
- 44:18Speaker 1: and I'm a scan reader, okay, then I can go
- 44:21Speaker 1: through and read like four or five words out of
- 44:24Speaker 1: that paragraph. But then everything else on the page I'll read.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Yeah, So.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Don't read the last page of the book before you
- 44:34Speaker 1: read the rest of the book. So Katie just sends.
- 44:36Speaker 2: Me a text I can actually tell you, so let
- 44:41Speaker 2: me actually get to it. She says, uh, where is it?
- 44:51Speaker 2: Damn it? Where is it? I told you? Oh? I said,
- 44:56Speaker 2: how long is it? And I was like, wait, how
- 45:01Speaker 2: are you already finished with the book? She's like, no,
- 45:02Speaker 2: I'm not. I'm just holding it. And it's not so
- 45:06Speaker 2: have toy of a book as I thought. It would
- 45:10Speaker 2: have been three hundred and sixty pages period, thirty six chapters,
- 45:14Speaker 2: and there is a huge spoiler on the last page.
- 45:19Speaker 2: I was like, cool, got it, don't read the last
- 45:21Speaker 2: page like I usually do. And she said in all
- 45:24Speaker 2: caps correct.
- 45:27Speaker 1: So, and we're about to jump into our third ad, y'all.
- 45:33Speaker 1: We promise we'll be right back. We promise.
- 45:37Speaker 2: There's something that happens to a character. Katie has given
- 45:45Speaker 2: that much away context clues of something that happened to
- 45:49Speaker 2: a character is what she saw. And I am so
- 45:52Speaker 2: glad that I didn't read that last page because there
- 45:57Speaker 2: was something emotional attached to that thing, and it hit
- 46:01Speaker 2: me like a bag of bricks at eleven forty five
- 46:03Speaker 2: pm while everybody else was asleep in my house versus me,
- 46:08Speaker 2: I was like, oh, this is what that was about.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Clay could translate my face better than I could.
- 46:17Speaker 2: I'm so sorry about that. I am so so sorry. Again, guys,
- 46:23Speaker 2: don't read the last page of book. I will never
- 46:26Speaker 2: ask Katie how long a book is ever again, or
- 46:30Speaker 2: you can do.
- 46:31Speaker 1: What you just did, look it up yourself. Damn it.
- 46:36Speaker 2: I have that problem. Even my boss says that I
- 46:39Speaker 2: have that problem. The other day, she was like, do
- 46:43Speaker 2: you ever just look things up? Or do you just
- 46:46Speaker 2: come and ask me everything. I'm like, well, it's more
- 46:48Speaker 2: of a human socialization thing, and so I don't really,
- 46:53Speaker 2: you know, look things up. She's like, hey, look things up.
- 46:56Speaker 2: It might help you. And I was like, okay, I
- 46:59Speaker 2: have that.
- 47:00Speaker 1: I sent my mom a video screen recording and me
- 47:02Speaker 1: googling something for her one time, and she was she's
- 47:06Speaker 1: very pissed off of me. Okay, So we have to
- 47:15Speaker 1: wrap up because I have Durya to do tomorrow and
- 47:17Speaker 1: I need to go to sleep. I need beauty rest
- 47:20Speaker 1: because I have to corporate a find myself fromorrow. So
- 47:27Speaker 1: I liked that he came back. I thought it was
- 47:29Speaker 1: a good healing moment for his character to kind of
- 47:31Speaker 1: wrap up that arc. Even though like from what we
- 47:34Speaker 1: know of the barash found like you can take it
- 47:37Speaker 1: long as you damn well please in the b I
- 47:42Speaker 1: thought it was a good moment for him.
- 47:44Speaker 2: I also like DES's return in this book. He struggled
- 47:51Speaker 2: a lot.
- 47:53Speaker 1: And it was good to see that he hadn't fully healed,
- 47:56Speaker 1: but he could still make it work and heal himself.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Yeah. I really appreciated his growth of a character. And
- 48:10Speaker 2: it was kind of like this weird like sixth sense.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Of course that's usually what the force is, but like
- 48:21Speaker 2: there's this big push and pull of the Force on
- 48:25Speaker 2: Kashik and like Reith would always like check in on Dez, like, hey,
- 48:29Speaker 2: how you doing. Are you okay? Like, And I think
- 48:31Speaker 2: that was a really good thing as well, to show
- 48:33Speaker 2: the growth of them to as characters knowing what they
- 48:37Speaker 2: had gone through into the dark and being able to
- 48:42Speaker 2: lean on each other throughout this book. I thought that
- 48:45Speaker 2: was a really nice touch and I really really appreciated that.
- 48:48Speaker 2: But along with that a character that Clodia Gray has
- 48:53Speaker 2: not really needed to put in her books, but definitely
- 48:56Speaker 2: needed to put in her book for what Happened on Kashik.
- 49:00Speaker 2: What did you think about the inclusion of Aslan Real
- 49:06Speaker 2: in this book.
- 49:08Speaker 1: I thought it was important for them to wrap up
- 49:11Speaker 1: his character, Like I really I really thought he was
- 49:14Speaker 1: going to die in this that that's the I thought
- 49:18Speaker 1: his inclusion was important to begin to wrap up his character.
- 49:23Speaker 1: I really thought he was going to die in this one,
- 49:25Speaker 1: and like get that return to the light. But from
- 49:28Speaker 1: what we get at the end, which we're going to
- 49:30Speaker 1: talk about is the last thing because it's like big spoilers,
- 49:33Speaker 1: but like we need to talk about it. Yeah, I
- 49:38Speaker 1: don't know if he will get that redemption.
- 49:41Speaker 2: At the end of I don't think he should.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I don't Yeah, I don't think he should either. So
- 49:50Speaker 1: like Star Wars is always about that redemption. Like I
- 49:53Speaker 1: could go all day long for Rise of Skywalker. I
- 49:56Speaker 1: don't want Ben to be redeemed. He kills his father,
- 49:59Speaker 1: why would I want him to be redeemed? And and
- 50:02Speaker 1: then he gets and I think that.
- 50:07Speaker 2: You know, it's probably something that they've already planned and
- 50:11Speaker 2: everything else, and I will accept it if it happens.
- 50:16Speaker 2: But and I'm totally fine with jumping into this, but
- 50:19Speaker 2: I just want to say, I think the conversations with
- 50:26Speaker 2: Wreath and as then we're very good here. It showed
- 50:31Speaker 2: Wreath's growth. Again, we keep saying that, but he is
- 50:37Speaker 2: assigned to be the leader of this mission. Out of
- 50:41Speaker 2: all of the older Jedi that are on this mission,
- 50:44Speaker 2: he is the one that's in charge.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Which totally makes sense to me, Like he really needed
- 50:50Speaker 1: this moment, this faith that the council has, because he
- 50:56Speaker 1: doesn't have that faith in himself. And to how I
- 51:00Speaker 1: I've tried to explain this to several people because I
- 51:02Speaker 1: am the same way. And this is why read speaks
- 51:04Speaker 1: so much to music character. To have somebody else tell you, hey,
- 51:10Speaker 1: I believe in you. That is probably one of the
- 51:13Speaker 1: most important things you can say to a person, is
- 51:16Speaker 1: in that moment where they're like, fuck, I don't know
- 51:19Speaker 1: what to do. I don't know what I'm doing. We're
- 51:22Speaker 1: watching squid Game and like one of the people is
- 51:25Speaker 1: just like, hey, you got this, Like calm down, take
- 51:28Speaker 1: a breath. You got this. Like that is honestly one
- 51:34Speaker 1: of the most important things you can say to a person,
- 51:36Speaker 1: especially with how much anxiety today's generation has. And like
- 51:42Speaker 1: I'm not saying that facetiously either, Like that is like
- 51:46Speaker 1: a very honest thing coming from me. Is like I
- 51:49Speaker 1: crave that, Like okay, yeah, that makes sense. You've got
- 51:54Speaker 1: this kind of thing, Like and my boss does a
- 51:57Speaker 1: very good job of doing that because like I've talk
- 52:00Speaker 1: to her about it, and like, I have so much
- 52:02Speaker 1: imposter syndrome. And there's another millennial programmer on the like
- 52:07Speaker 1: young millennial on the team, and it's like, yeah, like
- 52:12Speaker 1: a deal with so much imposter syndrome as a programmer,
- 52:14Speaker 1: because you are like kind of deciding how much like
- 52:20Speaker 1: in some cases you can be deciding life or death.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Like with the stuff that we do, we can honestly
- 52:26Speaker 1: affect like trading and everything because we work with the ports,
- 52:31Speaker 1: so it's like really important stuff that we're doing and everything.
- 52:35Speaker 1: So I would say, I'll let this say I really
- 52:38Speaker 1: appreciated how much we grew as a person in this,
- 52:41Speaker 1: but also in how he handled Komac, because Komac is
- 52:46Speaker 1: still trying to decide where he belongs in the Jedi Order,
- 52:51Speaker 1: if he should come back or whatnot. And at the
- 52:55Speaker 1: end of the book, he does make the decision, Hey,
- 52:58Speaker 1: I'm going to rejoin the Jedi Order, like I do
- 53:01Speaker 1: feel like I have a place here now that we've
- 53:04Speaker 1: kind of established this. But he also tries to retake
- 53:08Speaker 1: the mentorship role that he had with Wreath, and I
- 53:13Speaker 1: honestly wonder if he kind of promoted Wreath like obviously,
- 53:19Speaker 1: like we know, like the Guardian Protocols, everybody got promoted
- 53:22Speaker 1: to Jedi Night if you had enough Padawan training years
- 53:26Speaker 1: under your belt. Basically they didn't do trials. They said
- 53:29Speaker 1: this is your trial. So Wreath probably would have been
- 53:33Speaker 1: promoted anyways. But I honestly think he kind of promoted
- 53:38Speaker 1: Wreaths like a fuck you to the Jedi Order, like
- 53:41Speaker 1: deal with this yourself, deal with this, like I have
- 53:45Speaker 1: faith in him, yes, but he also still needs such
- 53:48Speaker 1: a confidence boost like fuck you, like deal within yourself.
- 53:53Speaker 2: I could see that happening very much so, because they
- 53:58Speaker 2: do butt heads at one or two of this book,
- 54:03Speaker 2: Like there's one moment where aslin And and I I
- 54:07Speaker 2: like Aslyn as a character, I don't know, but I
- 54:12Speaker 2: don't like him as a person because he tries to
- 54:17Speaker 2: get in everybody's head in this book. And he's like yay,
- 54:22Speaker 2: and I love there's a moment where like Comack is like, hey,
- 54:26Speaker 2: basically like funk off, dude, nobody wants to talk to you.
- 54:30Speaker 2: And then Read talks to Aslan.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Well.
- 54:33Speaker 2: First he goes to Komak and he's like, hey, I
- 54:36Speaker 2: got this. I'm the leader. You do you I'm going
- 54:41Speaker 2: to do the leadership, okay, and he pushes asthon aside.
- 54:44Speaker 2: He says, and you, I know that you're so alone
- 54:51Speaker 2: that you don't want to be alone anymore, so you're
- 54:54Speaker 2: trying to drag everybody else down with you. Shit needs
- 54:57Speaker 2: to stop. And I was like, oh, like go really
- 55:05Speaker 2: loved that moment, really loved that moment. It was also
- 55:08Speaker 2: kind of terrifying when you actually get to see Aslin
- 55:14Speaker 2: basically become a maniacal murderer of the Dranger. He's like, oh,
- 55:20Speaker 2: I can release all my power and he likes he
- 55:24Speaker 2: he goes full Palpatine.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Like flying with lightning and everything, like I would love,
- 55:32Speaker 1: like this is one where I'm like Okay, I'd love
- 55:34Speaker 1: to see the manga or like comic, like I want
- 55:37Speaker 1: to see that on a page.
- 55:40Speaker 2: Like, but because of what happens, and this is where
- 55:45Speaker 2: we will jump into this. Now, there is this, like
- 55:49Speaker 2: I said, this push and pull with the forest going
- 55:52Speaker 2: on on Kashikh and with the type of connection that
- 55:59Speaker 2: Aslyn has with the force Yoda and Wreath both constantly
- 56:04Speaker 2: throughout this book are telling everybody, oh, yes, he has
- 56:08Speaker 2: a dark side, but he is doing it for the
- 56:10Speaker 2: like he thought he was doing it for the right reasons.
- 56:13Speaker 2: He's not going after and killing people he wanted to
- 56:16Speaker 2: in the conflict with the nameless. He wanted to protect
- 56:21Speaker 2: the ones that he loved, all these other things right,
- 56:24Speaker 2: And so this push and pool that we're getting to
- 56:26Speaker 2: see on Kashik it manifests through the dreams of Asla
- 56:32Speaker 2: in this book.
- 56:33Speaker 1: This is probably my favorite part of the whole book,
- 56:35Speaker 1: is these dreams that he gets.
- 56:38Speaker 2: And I love that there is not like details to it,
- 56:44Speaker 2: because like even as And is like, oh this this
- 56:47Speaker 2: other person that was in I know the recognizer, like
- 56:51Speaker 2: I know their name, but I can't remember their name,
- 56:55Speaker 2: Like it's very like it's very vague, and I like that,
- 57:01Speaker 2: and then there's like these dreams of darkness, this pool
- 57:04Speaker 2: to the darkness, the dark side of the forest that
- 57:07Speaker 2: he of course has been consuming for so many years, right,
- 57:12Speaker 2: and so this is what kind of gives you the
- 57:15Speaker 2: hint of like, oh, like we may actually see the
- 57:20Speaker 2: redemption of Aslin in this book. But then there is
- 57:30Speaker 2: on Kashik specifically, there is the destruction of the thorn Seed,
- 57:40Speaker 2: is what you said?
- 57:42Speaker 1: Yep, so Kashik is hiding the Kashik is hiding basically
- 57:55Speaker 1: a thorn seed which looks like it was created from
- 58:01Speaker 1: the sap of the Dring gears at Avon does like
- 58:05Speaker 1: a comparison and everything, and it basically the thorn seed
- 58:11Speaker 1: is a Sith artifact that is used to basically, oh,
- 58:20Speaker 1: I want to say, it's like it can like basically
- 58:25Speaker 1: convert eventually a planet into the dark side.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Mm hmm.
- 58:32Speaker 1: So it like basically manipulates a planet.
- 58:35Speaker 2: So the way that they explained it was actually kind
- 58:38Speaker 2: of cool because they're like, oh, well, we know that
- 58:41Speaker 2: the dream gear were used by like the Sith. How
- 58:45Speaker 2: did they do that? And then like Reith gives like
- 58:48Speaker 2: this whole like like he this it's it's it's all, Oh,
- 58:53Speaker 2: there's a specific word for it. What is uh? What
- 58:58Speaker 2: is it when a character just throws out all the
- 59:01Speaker 2: knowledge for the audience? What is that called? Oh?
- 59:06Speaker 1: I don't I know what you're talking about, but I
- 59:07Speaker 1: don't know.
- 59:08Speaker 2: I can't think of it. But like uh, Leo's JOSSI
- 59:12Speaker 2: uh is a part of the group at that point,
- 59:14Speaker 2: He's like, and how do you know all of this?
- 59:16Speaker 2: He's like, Oh, I read it in new Archives, Like
- 59:19Speaker 2: he is like the biggest nerd at this point. And
- 59:21Speaker 2: like even Avon like has a little grin. He's like
- 59:24Speaker 2: only him, Like only he could like be so excited
- 59:27Speaker 2: about reading all about this at a library.
- 59:33Speaker 1: It's kind of cool because it like basically allows a
- 59:38Speaker 1: planet to work for the benefit of the dark Side
- 59:41Speaker 1: user in like a battle, so they can drain energy
- 59:45Speaker 1: from people around them, like they can make plants evil,
- 59:49Speaker 1: so like itisonous.
- 59:53Speaker 2: It was a very interesting concept. And I do like that,
- 59:56Speaker 2: like you could even in a way. And again, these
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: are legends novels, so nothing is set in stone for
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: this particular person. But think about the Baine trilogy. Think
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: about like everything that happened and transpired in those books,
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: Like I think about like two in particular moments where
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: I'm like, you know, that could actually really work well
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: with a thorn seed in there, and so like, I
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: think that's really fun that they've created this thing that
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: like when when you think about like a Sith planet,
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: you're like, how can there be a Sith planet? And
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: you're like, oh, now we know how there can be
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: a Sith planet.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: And this should be our final ad break. So y'all,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: thanks for bearing with us. We appreciate y'all. We'll be
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: right back. And the worry with using a thorn seed
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: on Kashik is these plants, like the the rochure trees
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: are for sensitive like that's like the magic of Kashik.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: And why like wookies have such a strong connection to
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: their homeworld is because they grow up around the forest
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: with the rochure trees and everything. So it's always interesting
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: to see how things can be manipulated towards other things.
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: But Kashiki is basically guarding this thorn seed and the
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: way in Campa, I don't know how you pronounce her
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: name because the audiobook is not connapped. Audiobook comes out
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: April fifteenth for those who are curious. So Campa doctor Campa,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: who was like training avon kind of thing, is now
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: working for Marchion. She found what did you think about this?
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: She found to Sith holocron? Yeah, where did she find it? It? Like,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: I actually articulate it.
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: I actually didn't like this part of the story.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I because because so and that's what they were trying
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: to say, like, Okay, this all leads towards the Sith,
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: this all leads towards the Phantom Menace. But this feels
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: like it came out of left field.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: Well not only did it come out of left field,
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: nothing came from it.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: Correct. The Holocron crumbles.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: At the end of this, and I knew it had to.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: That's the stupid thing is the fact that with this
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: push and pool going on with Aslin, I, the moment
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: I nected the ducts that mccampa, the Syth Holocron, and Aslin,
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: we're all going to be on the same planet. My
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: immediate thought is, oh, how is the Syth Holocron going
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: to be destroyed because Aslin cannot get.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: His hands on correct, and like this is the other
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: thing with the holo Cron that irks me is so okay,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: So they articulate that des Riden has been gone with
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: a Barash valve for three years, so that makes it
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: three years between end of the Dark and Into the Light.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: Phase one takes a year. The time between phase one
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: and phase three is a year mm hm. Doctor Campus
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: says she found the sith holocron almost a year ago
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: when searching for the initial cure sites, and she uses
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: cure in like quotation marks. Like Marcion had known about
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: the blight. I don't think he did, because the blight
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: was not a thing until to fid the storm, and
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: he didn't think he could cure it until temptation of
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: the force.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: But that's the thing, Like I think the big like
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: aha moment for the audience is supposed to be seen
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: in Charles Soul's book. That's the thing I'm just saying.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: Like the timeline doesn't make sense here. Is like, Okay,
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: if you had said six months or like months ago
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: or whatever, if you had said that versus almost a
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: year ago, I would have believed you. But there's been
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: no indication of time passing, and you know time is passing. Yeah,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: But like for how the rising storm goes, Yeah, it's
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: been six months since into the since Starlight Beacon was
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: opened or whatever, like you know, okay, like that's what
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: it is like, and there's been nothing of that sort.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: There's no way the blight has been around for a
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: year at this point, because it took Marcion a couple
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: of trips to figure out. Okay, I can lie and
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: say I have the cure because I have the rod.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: I just like we haven't. It's it's so hard because
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: we haven't seen or heard of how long the blight
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: takes to consume a planet.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: It is unknown Breeth talks about at the beginning. He's like, yeah,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: like an entire planet can be gone in a week,
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: or it can be gone in two weeks, Like yeah, exactly.
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: And I think we see in this the blight when
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: the thorn Seed is activated. When because Agon wants to
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: sample because she is a crystal person. She wants to
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: research the crystals of lightsabers and everything, so she's like, oh,
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: crystal like research. So she chips a piece off, and
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: the blight splits for the thorn Seed like it jumps.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: It doesn't matter that the Jeta are sitting there. It
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: doesn't expand in every direction like was it was thought
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: to do. It jumps towards the thorn Seed, which is
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: interesting because the Blight is the absence of the Force.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: It is eating all of the Force, with all of
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: the Jedi around it trying to prevent the Blight from growing.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Mhm.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: It also have jumped to the Jedi.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: I guess it would have, like I, I don't know,
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: like the right answer for you. That's the thing. Yeah,
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: I'm very curious to see, like if we ever see
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: in trials or even in a valiant vow like the
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: Blight go after somebody, because we've we've seen like even
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: the first inklings of Jedi interacting with the Blight was Bury.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: Bury had sat there for like half of a book
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: in Temptation of the Force, you know, just meditating, and
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: he was able to push. But we didn't see any
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: reaction to the Blight like we did in this book,
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: specifically going and the way they described it and the
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: way that I'm envisioning it in my head is that
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: we we would know that it's in one spot and
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: it's like it's radius is just going larger and larger, right,
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: I expect one side of that radius literally peaking to
- 1:08:34Speaker 2: a point towards the thorn Seed. That's kind of what
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: I imagined it's like, yeah, just that one side, just
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: kind of peaking a little bit towards that thorn seed.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: Oh okay, and you know what the blight on Corusciant
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: is in the heart of the Jedi Temple, which is
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: covering the Sith Temple and that Dark Side reservoir.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: So Markyon has talked about seating the blight places, and
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: obviously you can do that, like you can take like
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: you could have taken what's his name's hand and dumped
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: it on another planet and the blight would spread from
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: that contact.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Mm hm.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: But what if the blight it's like popping up randomly,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: is taking hold on Dark Side powerful archive like areas.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: So so that was my thought in here. So when
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: I thought about that, when I thought about like, when
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: it gave the explanation of what the thorn Seed was
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: and how it's connected to the drend gear and all
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: of these other things, Marcion Roe could not have snuck
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: his way through the temple down to the Sith Temple
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: and seated the blight. Not No, I'm sorry, I don't
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: care how powerful you make him. It's not going to happen. Yeah,
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: Can I genuinely think, oh, well, go ahead.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Well, you still have the mole, that is correct.
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: We still need to we still need to learn who
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: that is. So you still have that person who.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: Could have seated it, but also how could they have
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: seated it, because that is like the closest guarded secret,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: Yes of the Jedi.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: I think that the blight was inevitably going to happen
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: on Correussant due to the fact that there was a
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: Seth temple there.
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: Yeah, and like I would say, like, what's that? Like
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: that the planet in rebels, Like you could argue like that,
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: like the blight probably happened there because the dark Side
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: had taken hold there. Uh so it's interesting that it's
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: kind of gravitated towards dark Side areas. Yeah.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, but we haven't gotten to the thing yet. And
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: I know that you got to leave pretty soon. So
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: Asla steal the thorn, steals a piece of the thorn seed.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: And this is why I don't think he should be redeemed.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: Correct.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: He he and ironically witnessed the miracle. He didn't witness anything,
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: he has no eyes, but he was there when it happened. Well,
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: actually no, he actually he actually stayed back, didn't he.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: He he actually was not. I can't remember was he
- 1:11:53Speaker 2: he was.
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: On the island.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Was it on the island. Yeah, I can't remember if
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: he because from what I remember, he was there at
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: the last attack.
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: Of the thorn scene.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: But I thought he came like they okay, okay, so
- 1:12:14Speaker 2: he was there. He was there, Oh, that's right, because
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: he snuck up on the ship. He snuck up on
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: the ship along with Nan. Nan also snuck on the ship.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: So he stole a piece of the thorn seed because
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: he just so happened to like just come down and
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: he was like raising his hand and he felt it
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: and he thought it was something else, still can't say
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: what it is, and then he felt He's like, oh,
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: I can feel the oh so small spark of the
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: dark Side here, and he pockets it and like I
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: wanted to be angry, but then I'm like, of course,
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: like this is like the.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: Dark Side has tinted him. And yes, he can argue
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: all day long. Oh I'm using both to like benefit me,
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Like you can use both sides, and there's there's like
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: sex of forced users who use both and are able
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: to maintain that balance. But as in the.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: Dark Side, yeah, he cannot balance that.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Yeah, he went to the dark side out of fear,
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: and we know that if you go to the dark
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: side out of fear, it will consume.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: You mm hmm. And I think that his story will
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: most definitely end. I do not think it'll be a cliffhanger.
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: I don't think that it'll just be the think.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: He's he's dark, plagis.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: No Pleagas has eyes. We've seen it. I think, like,
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: I think I would almost roll my eyes if, like
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: we see that like in Trials, he gets away and
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: then like a year later they're like, oh, here's the novel,
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: the legend of As than Real, you know, or something
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: like that. Like, I would probably roll my eyes because
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: I think his story needs to end. I think that
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: they're that confrontation between the Council Yoda, even with Asthen
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: knowing like, oh, you did this behind our backs, even
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: worse right in front of us.
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: YEP. I have to wonder if that will take place
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: in Edge of Balance, because we have Premonition, which has
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Yoda on the cover, and then we have volume four,
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: which has the Young Wings on the cover. So I'm
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: betting Priminition is what's coming to be the end of
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Asthen's story. Because what is it called precedent is how
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: you kind of figure out who Asthen is, Like, yes,
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: he's in phase two, Like is he really in phase
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: two until precedent? Yeah, because you didn't even know who
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: he was, Like we read.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: That in the in Path of Deceit he is literally
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: he is in the first chapter mm hmmm, and then
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: the last page. Yeah, like.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: And that's basically it until you get to like the
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Battle of Dolna, and then you have President.
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: So it's.
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: He's been a weird one for sure, and I would
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: think his story is gonna end in one again.
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: It's it's it's one of these things that like even
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: Chlaudia Like again I said, I said that there was
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: two scenes in this book that almost did not even
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: have to be there. One was the creature that was
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: in Kashik or whatever. The second one was this random
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: death sticks dealer that decided to help Naan's crew defeat
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: the nigh Hill at the edge of a planet's atmosphere.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: And then yeah, sorry, AFI's clan. Yeah, and then like
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: the very next chapter, like you see Afi communicating with
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: these people that had offered him a job, and she's like, hey,
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: let's not just bring anybody in here. Let's just like
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: if he has our back, we'll have his back, but
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: we're not making him a full member. And then boom,
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: that was it. That like there was no reason, And
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: I guess you can overall see like, oh, this is
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: the rest of the Galaxy finally wanting to fight back
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: against the Night Hill. But we've been seeing that all
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: throughout the High Republic.
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: It's that argument for AFI's character, and we haven't really
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: talked about the crew of the vessel a whole lot.
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: I feel like, even though they're Claudia's characters, they actually
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: probably had like this is probably their least amount of
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: development in the whole of Phase three. But it's that
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: continued growth for Afi to be able to continue to
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: have the bind and Guild and growing it and learning
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: how to be a better leader than her stepmom was
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: at the end of the day.
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well I think that is mainly it.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Yes, I actually said a lot more than I intended
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: to in this, so I apologize. I didn't think it
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: was going to go this long. Yeah, I was like,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: we'll be done in forty five minutes, Like.
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: I mean, I told you a lot of I was
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: like I was like, Hey, it's just a book review.
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: We're not going to be that long. It'll be fine.
