- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome to the Inside the Birds post game show.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Moscher. I'm with Adam Kaplan. Hey, the Eagles won.
- 0:16Speaker 1: They beat Buffalo in Buffalo. That's a hard place to win,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and they won, and they're eleven to five. But uh oh, Adam,
- 0:22Speaker 1: because right before we started recording this show, I happened
- 0:26Speaker 1: to check some of my social media mentions as I
- 0:30Speaker 1: was posting my Philly Voice story. I don't normally do this,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but it seems like a lot of people aren't really
- 0:35Speaker 1: thrilled about the Eagles winning thirteen to twelve in Buffalo.
- 0:39Speaker 1: There are obviously a lot of things, especially in the
- 0:42Speaker 1: second half offensively, that are our people are gonna have
- 0:46Speaker 1: a bone to pick with. So how are you reconciling this?
- 0:49Speaker 1: The Eagles One?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yeah, defense, right, yeah, defense is elite. Defense is incredible.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I mean, you can't keep putting on the defense to
- 0:56Speaker 2: win you games. The defense did a really good job.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Taf very aggressive, really aggressive with a pass.
- 1:04Speaker 1: In the rain.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Okay, now you can throw on the rain as long
- 1:07Speaker 2: as it's not windy. It really was not windy as
- 1:09Speaker 2: I was told. Second half the wind was picking up
- 1:11Speaker 2: a little bit, but that's nothing to do with it.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Hurts didn't complete a pass. Let's put it this way.
- 1:17Speaker 2: He didn't get any he didn't have any yards in
- 1:19Speaker 2: the second half. I mean, that's just that's hard to do.
- 1:25Speaker 1: It's almost impossible.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I know, pose formations and I just I and you know,
- 1:32Speaker 2: I heard Syrian's press conference there for the game. I'm
- 1:35Speaker 2: glad that he was grilled over it. Mm hmm, like,
- 1:38Speaker 2: what are you doing there? You're not You're a CEO
- 1:40Speaker 2: head coach and Sirianni talked. At least he was willing
- 1:43Speaker 2: to talk about. Hey, I hear, I hear that every
- 1:45Speaker 2: play call as it's being called, how it's being called
- 1:47Speaker 2: in But you have to see after a series of
- 1:51Speaker 2: events that you're not moving the football. You can't run it.
- 1:57Speaker 2: You threw the ball pretty well in the first half.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Remember A J. Brown got you a touchdown. Was a
- 2:00Speaker 2: great throw. Okay, a great throw. I mean the ref
- 2:03Speaker 2: misses the call, okay, terrible miscall. They also had to
- 2:09Speaker 2: drop pass in the first half, but overall they moved
- 2:11Speaker 2: the ball well, round the ball fairly well. So you
- 2:15Speaker 2: feel pretty good. They have thirteen points in the first half,
- 2:17Speaker 2: you feel pretty good about. Defense is great. Not only
- 2:20Speaker 2: did they get shut out in the second half. If
- 2:22Speaker 2: you want to talk about one of the worst performances
- 2:24Speaker 2: in the offense this season, I mean, I can't imagine
- 2:27Speaker 2: it's been worse than this. This was just atrocious, right.
- 2:30Speaker 1: And I'm not sure if I put this on offensive
- 2:33Speaker 1: personnel or co well, I am sure. I don't on
- 2:36Speaker 1: personnel coaching. And I actually I thought Nick Sirianni called
- 2:41Speaker 1: a conservative first half. Now they had thirteen points all No,
- 2:46Speaker 1: I mean because I'll give you occasions where it was
- 2:50Speaker 1: second and long and he was running.
- 2:52Speaker 2: The ball, but one was ridiculous.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but Adam didn't have that many possessions, and this
- 2:56Speaker 1: is something that they've done all year long. I just
- 2:58Speaker 1: I was a give up. Yeah, I thought that the
- 3:01Speaker 1: fourth drive the fourth session where Jalen Hurts made some
- 3:04Speaker 1: terrific throws. Let it loose. Had the third down pass
- 3:09Speaker 1: to DeVante Smith for nineteen yards. It was between two
- 3:12Speaker 1: tight windows and the road to the right hit aj Brown. Yeah,
- 3:16Speaker 1: those were great throws, moving the pass, hold on, hold on,
- 3:20Speaker 1: hold on, hold on. We'll get to that in a second.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But they were moving and the offense was open. And
- 3:24Speaker 1: then go look at the play calling in the next
- 3:27Speaker 1: two to three drives, there was nothing like that. Okay,
- 3:31Speaker 1: there were a couple of passes, but it wasn't the
- 3:33Speaker 1: same And I put that on the coaching. I thought
- 3:36Speaker 1: he was conservative. And even in the second half, which
- 3:38Speaker 1: we've seen all year long, when they had a chance
- 3:40Speaker 1: to use some time outs, preserve some time, try to
- 3:42Speaker 1: get more points on the board, they did not. And
- 3:45Speaker 1: to me, that stuff comes back to haunt you.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Well, they were very aggressive, fact hurts aggressive. They were
- 3:54Speaker 2: actually very aggressive throwing the football. Loved it that. See,
- 3:56Speaker 2: I don't see it the same way you did. Yet,
- 3:58Speaker 2: except for the plays that I would agree with you on.
- 4:01Speaker 2: We're a couple of those third down pass plays where
- 4:04Speaker 2: I'm like, what what are you doing? Like what it's
- 4:06Speaker 2: a gain? At least one one was a give up play.
- 4:08Speaker 2: I'm like, what are you giving up for? It's just
- 4:10Speaker 2: like i'd have to look at the yardage. Wasn't that long?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not, you know, I need to be ten
- 4:16Speaker 1: plays that I have to point out. I think three
- 4:18Speaker 1: to five plays can make a difference in a one
- 4:20Speaker 1: possession game, and if you're conservative on those, when your
- 4:23Speaker 1: quarterback is actually in a good rhythm, then I think
- 4:25Speaker 1: you're heard of your team, so right, but it's not
- 4:28Speaker 1: like they were the offensive the way they were going more.
- 4:36Speaker 2: That's fine, that will meet in the middle. But by
- 4:38Speaker 2: the way that passed DeVante Smith M hmm. I'd have
- 4:42Speaker 2: to see the analytical data on that from next Gen stats.
- 4:46Speaker 2: I I have to think that's one of the most
- 4:48Speaker 2: tight window throws he's ever made. Matter of fact, it
- 4:51Speaker 2: was a weird if you I actually replayed it five times.
- 4:55Speaker 2: It seemed like they it was a sort of a
- 4:57Speaker 2: broken down play. There was something they had problems getting
- 5:00Speaker 2: the ball in, getting the playoff on time a little
- 5:03Speaker 2: bit in the first half, to say the least, and
- 5:07Speaker 2: that one was one of them. Before the snap, I'm like, okay,
- 5:09Speaker 2: where's this going.
- 5:11Speaker 1: That hurts?
- 5:12Speaker 2: You know, he rolls, he he waits, and then he
- 5:15Speaker 2: fires it and I'm like wait, And then you could
- 5:17Speaker 2: see it when they showed it the replay, I'm like,
- 5:19Speaker 2: wait a minute, there's no how did he like he
- 5:22Speaker 2: just throw it. That's so not like him, Like I mean,
- 5:25Speaker 2: most quarterbacks actually would not have made that throw. But
- 5:27Speaker 2: he made it and he completed it. It was a
- 5:29Speaker 2: big time NFL throw that that was incredible. They're just
- 5:35Speaker 2: it was just a very odd game. But the positive
- 5:38Speaker 2: is this defense is right now elite. There's no better
- 5:43Speaker 2: defense than the National Football League. I know the Bears
- 5:45Speaker 2: record a lot of turnovers, but I'm talking about everything
- 5:47Speaker 2: else and Jalox Hunt becoming a man as a pass rusher.
- 5:52Speaker 2: This kid is growing up. This is really that Hunt.
- 5:55Speaker 2: That first sackle on the stunt was beautiful, man, that
- 5:57Speaker 2: was It was an awesome stunt with and a looper.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Looper was good at uh, just the way that they
- 6:03Speaker 2: ran it. It was just a phenomenal stunt and the execution.
- 6:08Speaker 2: You went to a great coaching by the way. I mean,
- 6:12Speaker 2: I'd have to find it better. We'd have to look
- 6:13Speaker 2: it up. I don't know if there's a better defensive
- 6:15Speaker 2: staff right now the National Football They're just they're just
- 6:18Speaker 2: coaching up the players buying big time, big.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Time on there's no and that's a good offensive line
- 6:24Speaker 1: the Bills have, and I thought the Eagles had their
- 6:26Speaker 1: way with it for the better part of three quarters.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Even so, I feel like Nolan Smith has taken a
- 6:30Speaker 1: little bit of backseat lately right to guys like Jay
- 6:33Speaker 1: Alex Hunt and Jalen Phillis. But he came in with
- 6:35Speaker 1: a pretty big pressure and you started to see josh
- 6:37Speaker 1: Allen really wincing. Uh, you know he had that football
- 6:40Speaker 1: tackle the week before. Yeah, they were really putting a
- 6:43Speaker 1: lot of pressure on him. And I just feel for
- 6:46Speaker 1: this defense, Adham, because at some point you're asking them
- 6:50Speaker 1: to do too much. You're asking and at some point
- 6:54Speaker 1: in the NFL, Greg Cosl says this all time, right,
- 6:57Speaker 1: the NFL, good players and good teams, they're gonna make
- 7:00Speaker 1: plays regardless. And that's exactly how I saw the fourth quarter.
- 7:03Speaker 1: You got a veteran like Brandon Cooks making a really
- 7:06Speaker 1: nice play. You have you have Terrell Shavers who gets
- 7:08Speaker 1: an opportunity because other guys the Bills brought in don't
- 7:11Speaker 1: mix like a David Tyree type of catch, right, and
- 7:14Speaker 1: Josh Allen's gonna do that. He's gonna burn you for
- 7:16Speaker 1: a run or two. But all of those could have
- 7:19Speaker 1: been for not right if they didn't let the Bills
- 7:22Speaker 1: hang around. And even in letting the Bills hang around,
- 7:25Speaker 1: Jalen Carter still blocks the kat which winds up being
- 7:28Speaker 1: one of the huge biggest plays of the game, really
- 7:31Speaker 1: deciding the outcome because the Bills don't have then have
- 7:33Speaker 1: to go for two or they decide they want to
- 7:35Speaker 1: go for two and win it at the end and
- 7:37Speaker 1: don't get it. But I yeah, any of those big
- 7:41Speaker 1: plays that the Bills made, I don't feel like we're
- 7:43Speaker 1: defensive letdowns at all. Even the pass interference against Quinnon
- 7:47Speaker 1: Mitchell was he grabbed his collar and I know a
- 7:49Speaker 1: lot of people think they were correct. Phony it was correct,
- 7:52Speaker 1: but it was not as egregious as others. So my
- 7:55Speaker 1: point is they made the Bills work for every single
- 7:58Speaker 1: yard that they gained. And had they lost this game,
- 8:01Speaker 1: which was very possible, I you know, I don't think
- 8:04Speaker 1: there would ever be a mutiny, but man I would
- 8:06Speaker 1: have been I would have felt, as an Eagles defender
- 8:09Speaker 1: pretty crappy if if they wound up losing that game.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Because the offense, for the second time this year, Adam
- 8:16Speaker 1: this is historically comical, had less less than twenty yards
- 8:20Speaker 1: and a half all right, Week four against Tampa and
- 8:23Speaker 1: then this game against the Bills. You can't have less
- 8:26Speaker 1: than twenty. This Bill's defense is good. But we talked
- 8:29Speaker 1: all in the pregame show about all that. Yeah, they weren't.
- 8:32Speaker 1: They didn't have Jordan Poyer, there were down three defensive tackles.
- 8:35Speaker 1: The Eagles are moving the ball on them in the
- 8:36Speaker 1: first half. There's almost no excuse for what happened in
- 8:39Speaker 1: the second half.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean again, you just said they're moving the ball.
- 8:43Speaker 2: You and I could disagree a little bit on some
- 8:46Speaker 2: conservative plays individually, but overall they were aggressive. They threw
- 8:49Speaker 2: the ball well in the first half. Don't let the yards,
- 8:51Speaker 2: don't let the one hundred and ten yards whatever it
- 8:53Speaker 2: was in the first half, fool you. There were some
- 8:55Speaker 2: big plays there. Yeah, did they lease some plays on
- 8:58Speaker 2: the ground so to speak, that were were Jake Elfield goals, Yes,
- 9:02Speaker 2: he hit two, by the way, he didn't miss. He
- 9:05Speaker 2: nailed both of them. But second half was an abomination offensively.
- 9:08Speaker 2: And that's all coaching. It starts with Sirianni. It's his scheme.
- 9:12Speaker 2: When you see Patuloa struggle a little bit, which he was,
- 9:14Speaker 2: you got to help the guy out basically by the way,
- 9:16Speaker 2: in his way. Basically, he took responsibility because it's his
- 9:20Speaker 2: fault as the head coach. He talked about it, he
- 9:22Speaker 2: said it repeatedly in the press conference after the game,
- 9:25Speaker 2: that he had to help, he had to help more.
- 9:27Speaker 2: But then at the end, he said, well, you know,
- 9:29Speaker 2: also have to coach the team, all dude, it's your scheme, okay.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Right, and he has the final say he knows what
- 9:34Speaker 1: the call is. So for example, you know, this is
- 9:37Speaker 1: the play that really I already mentioned one run that
- 9:40Speaker 1: they had on third and long where they could have
- 9:42Speaker 1: gone for but right before half. If you remember it
- 9:44Speaker 1: was third and eighty eight, that's yeah, third and eight
- 9:47Speaker 1: and they pass, they run a screen and get three
- 9:51Speaker 1: yards to Dallas Goddard. I mean it was the It
- 9:54Speaker 1: was just a little dinkiest screen, and I thought Hurtz
- 9:57Speaker 1: was well protected for the game as well. Screen. They
- 10:01Speaker 1: had been moving the ball so well. Third and eight,
- 10:03Speaker 1: you're at the thirteen, all right, and you run a
- 10:06Speaker 1: play that can that is a lateral play. You don't
- 10:08Speaker 1: even throwing the ball forward. They get stopped and you
- 10:11Speaker 1: settle for the twenty eight yard field goal. That one
- 10:13Speaker 1: grinded my gears even more than the third or second
- 10:17Speaker 1: and long run that they had. But then you know
- 10:19Speaker 1: that's so that's my point. If you're Nick Sirianni, you
- 10:22Speaker 1: okayed that play call, So we can play Kevin Patulo
- 10:25Speaker 1: for calling yet but Nix and but this is their mentality.
- 10:29Speaker 1: They just always play not to lose, and that's great.
- 10:33Speaker 1: When you had the awesome running game, which again they
- 10:36Speaker 1: haven't had all the year. It is I understandably have
- 10:39Speaker 1: a defense, But if they can win four straight playoff
- 10:42Speaker 1: games coaching exactly that way this year without the home
- 10:46Speaker 1: run running game, I would be surprised. But on the
- 10:48Speaker 1: flip side, Adam, you could convince me that just a
- 10:51Speaker 1: little more aggression, that maybe they could win it all
- 10:54Speaker 1: even without a real dominant running game with the way
- 10:58Speaker 1: this defense is playing, just a little bit more aggression
- 11:01Speaker 1: and that some submissive play calling.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Submissive play calling is what I would use. I mean,
- 11:05Speaker 2: it's really surprising. I'm like, here we go, here we go,
- 11:09Speaker 2: because I'm like, we had the Patreon Schafford level three
- 11:12Speaker 2: is at halftime. I'm like, wow, this is like in
- 11:14Speaker 2: the rain. I did not expect this aggressiveness in terms
- 11:16Speaker 2: of run pass Like this surprised me. And although you know,
- 11:21Speaker 2: Barkley had some really good runs, so everything was really wrong. Again,
- 11:24Speaker 2: thirteen points is good for a first half. You'll take that,
- 11:27Speaker 2: especially against that defense. They're not very talented defense Buffalo,
- 11:31Speaker 2: but they have a great scheme and they make you
- 11:34Speaker 2: earn it. They're gonna make you. They're gonna make you there.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Sean McDermott is mister's own defense. Stefan Gilmore, remember when
- 11:42Speaker 2: he left there is simply because he can't he needs
- 11:44Speaker 2: to play in a man scheme. So he moved on
- 11:47Speaker 2: and did very well for himself. But Sean coaches a
- 11:50Speaker 2: certain way in Benford also Christian Benford number forty seven
- 11:53Speaker 2: Villanova for a Villanova star got away with one as well,
- 11:57Speaker 2: a clear pass interference. They're just not calling it well.
- 12:02Speaker 2: It was for both teams. Rests were not very good.
- 12:05Speaker 2: Usually don't talk about the rest, but rarely do we
- 12:07Speaker 2: talk about it. They had a bad game. But overall,
- 12:10Speaker 2: just to move this along here, there's a lot to
- 12:11Speaker 2: feel good about you. Jakeli As I mention braid Man
- 12:15Speaker 2: is unbelievable, unleapout. I won't curse here. How about helling
- 12:19Speaker 2: to make the Pro Bowl? We have a I don't
- 12:21Speaker 2: care about the Pro Ball. It doesn't it doesn't, it
- 12:23Speaker 2: doesn't mean anything. It's a popularity contest right more ways
- 12:27Speaker 2: than one. We could give several examples. If we went
- 12:29Speaker 2: through the list of thirty two teams, where you go
- 12:31Speaker 2: this guy clearly it's not a pro bowler. But he
- 12:33Speaker 2: got in.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, how is how is he not a
- 12:36Speaker 1: pro bowler? But Cam Jurgens, who again had some some
- 12:38Speaker 1: struggles up front, is a is a pro bowler? It
- 12:40Speaker 1: doesn't make doesn't make sense.
- 12:42Speaker 2: And Dragons had one or two playces he'd like to
- 12:44Speaker 2: have back to say the least. But you know what,
- 12:47Speaker 2: the offensive line, as you said, protected better. So the
- 12:50Speaker 2: positives to me, not in any particular order. La didn't
- 12:55Speaker 2: miss any field goals. Okay, that's a start. Okay, in
- 12:59Speaker 2: the rain, you know had had to do that. Brad
- 13:00Speaker 2: Man is in absolute to superstar. He had a great game.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Offensive line protected much better that a pretty good game.
- 13:06Speaker 2: There were some very positive runs for Barkley in the
- 13:08Speaker 2: first half. I was in charge in the close formation plays,
- 13:12Speaker 2: but seemed like they had too many of them. Very
- 13:14Speaker 2: in the second half, very conservative. It was like were
- 13:17Speaker 2: they trying to go through like a tunnel? Like what
- 13:19Speaker 2: are they doing here? I don't understand what they were doing,
- 13:23Speaker 2: but I would say that you got to like the
- 13:27Speaker 2: way that they moved the football in the first half.
- 13:29Speaker 2: And it's as people have said, anyone watches his team
- 13:32Speaker 2: week in and week out. They can never put a
- 13:34Speaker 2: full game together, not even close off.
- 13:37Speaker 1: No, no. In fact, I mean this was so much
- 13:39Speaker 1: like the Bucks and the Broncos game, even stylistically, because
- 13:43Speaker 1: you know, I was texting you during the game. I
- 13:45Speaker 1: felt Sean mcdervitt was overplaying his hand a little bit.
- 13:47Speaker 1: He was blitzing a lot in the first half, and
- 13:50Speaker 1: I think that's what led to Jalen Hurts finding some
- 13:52Speaker 1: good one on ones and being able to get the ball,
- 13:54Speaker 1: and then of course he also made some terrific throws
- 13:57Speaker 1: that against sown. But in the second half, I wasted charting.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I did not see very many five man pressures. There
- 14:03Speaker 1: were some sims, there might have been one or two,
- 14:05Speaker 1: but on those third downs, he was basically just dropping
- 14:08Speaker 1: and bringing four man pressure, forcing Hurts off his mark.
- 14:12Speaker 1: You saw him roll right, roll left, throw out of bounds,
- 14:15Speaker 1: and he had the offense completely dysfunction. And that's really
- 14:18Speaker 1: what the Bucks did. Remember they blitzed a lot in
- 14:20Speaker 1: the first half and almost none in the second half.
- 14:22Speaker 1: The Broncos did the same thing and they wound up
- 14:24Speaker 1: coming back to win the game. So you know, it's
- 14:27Speaker 1: weird because we haven't seen lately, Hurts has been struggling
- 14:31Speaker 1: against the blitz, I mean against real teams, but he
- 14:33Speaker 1: was he did a great job against it in the
- 14:35Speaker 1: first half. Then they backed off. I don't know, I
- 14:38Speaker 1: just I feel like the Eagles just can't find themselves,
- 14:44Speaker 1: you know, like they find it for two or three
- 14:47Speaker 1: drives at him offensively, and even with conservative coaching or
- 14:51Speaker 1: bad coaching, that like, you should still be able to
- 14:53Speaker 1: have a run game. And Barkley was running the ball well,
- 14:56Speaker 1: and he just couldn't run the ball well in the
- 14:58Speaker 1: second half. And you know, this feels like something the
- 15:02Speaker 1: Eagles are just going to be fighting until it's over
- 15:05Speaker 1: this year.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Yeah, the coaches seemed to get out of their getting
- 15:10Speaker 2: their own way. Barclay had seventeen yards in the first
- 15:12Speaker 2: that sees me. In the second half, he had fifty
- 15:14Speaker 2: one in the first half.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I mean that's just amazing.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I mean, he's rolling. He had a good first half, honestly,
- 15:20Speaker 2: had I you know, I wrote down my just look
- 15:23Speaker 2: at my notes at halftime. I was like, Wow, this
- 15:24Speaker 2: is a really good, well called game, really well called game.
- 15:27Speaker 2: In the second half, it was like the exact it
- 15:29Speaker 2: must have been the exact opposite for Petullo and look
- 15:33Speaker 2: he Nick Sirianni deserves a lot of criticism for the
- 15:38Speaker 2: second half. That's embarrassing. They called that game the second half.
- 15:41Speaker 2: I do want to know and greg O sum might
- 15:43Speaker 2: have this in terms of eleven personnel, because they did.
- 15:47Speaker 2: They went five to zero, They went a lot of
- 15:49Speaker 2: they were five eligibles works, they're great running that. The
- 15:55Speaker 2: stats are overwhelmingly positive for that.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yeah good, no, center, very good.
- 16:00Speaker 2: And I just don't know why. I know, you're up
- 16:02Speaker 2: thirteen nothing. You feel like you're rolling here with your defense.
- 16:05Speaker 2: But we are we aware of how good Josh Allen
- 16:08Speaker 2: has been bring the team back this season? Are we
- 16:10Speaker 2: aware of this? Thirty should have been You can get
- 16:13Speaker 2: that done in five minutes, right?
- 16:16Speaker 1: I agree? I felt like Nick was coaching like he
- 16:19Speaker 1: had a three or four touchdown lead.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yes, he.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Thing the way.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, not the first time he's done this. That's
- 16:27Speaker 2: he's a great coach. We I know he's got haters.
- 16:30Speaker 2: I'm not a defender. I just know how good of
- 16:31Speaker 2: a coach. This guy is number one road record of
- 16:35Speaker 2: the National Football League. Okay, since he became head coach.
- 16:39Speaker 2: That's unbelievable. This guy excellent coach. Okay, but it doesn't
- 16:43Speaker 2: mean you can't criticize the guy. It's not Teflon, Okay,
- 16:46Speaker 2: this is is bad coaching. He needs to do a
- 16:48Speaker 2: better job and take responsibility. You know, he says on
- 16:50Speaker 2: Monday morning, we're gonna beat ourselves up. He should bring
- 16:53Speaker 2: a Larry Holmes. He's an assassin inside the face, dude,
- 16:58Speaker 2: wake up, man.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Nice hey man, it's clear to me if you, if you,
- 17:02Speaker 1: you know, the coach of the last five years for
- 17:05Speaker 1: the Eagles is Nick Sirianni. I mean, like you said,
- 17:08Speaker 1: the stats speak for themselves, but the coach of the
- 17:12Speaker 1: year for the Eagles for twenty twenty five starting in January,
- 17:16Speaker 1: like last years playoffs is unquestionably yeah, Vic Fangio. He
- 17:22Speaker 1: is the reason the Eagles have the hardware, right, I mean.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Think about it. Where the five wins?
- 17:32Speaker 1: I have no idea. I don't know. He every every
- 17:35Speaker 1: button he pushes seems to be the right one. We
- 17:37Speaker 1: didn't even talk about two players who really made a
- 17:40Speaker 1: huge all right, So Zach Bonn had two enormous plays.
- 17:44Speaker 1: One he's covering a tight end down the field, just
- 17:46Speaker 1: breaking up the pass about twenty five yards, and I
- 17:48Speaker 1: love that Tom Brady said it, because not enough people
- 17:51Speaker 1: said it. Brady says, how many guys at his position
- 17:54Speaker 1: or even running that fast that far down the field
- 17:57Speaker 1: to be able to put themselves in position to break
- 17:59Speaker 1: up the play? And totally right. The second thing is
- 18:03Speaker 1: probably got lost by the way the game was ending,
- 18:05Speaker 1: But he had that hit on Allen in the third
- 18:08Speaker 1: quarter on fourth down as Allen's trying to get into
- 18:11Speaker 1: the end zone and then he falls flat on his
- 18:14Speaker 1: butt right before the ball crosses. He had a really
- 18:16Speaker 1: big hit on Josh Allen on that scramble that prevented it,
- 18:19Speaker 1: that kept the Eagles, kept the Bills scoreless at that point.
- 18:24Speaker 1: The Bills were shut out for about what forty five
- 18:26Speaker 1: to fifty minutes of this game, So I started to
- 18:29Speaker 1: look at the stats of the last time the Bills
- 18:31Speaker 1: were shut out both at home and on the road,
- 18:33Speaker 1: and it had been since They hadn't been shut out
- 18:35Speaker 1: at home since two thousand and eight, So you're talking
- 18:38Speaker 1: about a long time, you know, almost, Josh.
- 18:41Speaker 2: All right, yes, yes, So a couple of things here
- 18:44Speaker 2: that I will add, so we're ready to talk. At
- 18:46Speaker 2: the top, we talked about Jackson is really coming on
- 18:49Speaker 2: Jalen Phillips as a forced defender against the run doing
- 18:52Speaker 2: a really good job. Carter was a factor, but that
- 18:55Speaker 2: that Saki had that Saki had was absolutely incredible. I mean, Josh,
- 19:02Speaker 2: Josh Allen, he's just like I wouldn't want to be
- 19:05Speaker 2: him on that play. So it was good to see
- 19:06Speaker 2: him back. And obviously obviously Carter with the deflection was
- 19:11Speaker 2: huge on the block kick on Michael Oh Syriana gave
- 19:14Speaker 2: her the answers to the test. It was pretty good
- 19:16Speaker 2: of him to admit. And I'm sure Michael Bashley won't
- 19:19Speaker 2: be the kicker in the Super Bowl if they got
- 19:20Speaker 2: that far, but they they knew that he kicks low.
- 19:23Speaker 2: It was a really good note that he gave after
- 19:25Speaker 2: the game. It was you know, that was interesting.
- 19:27Speaker 1: That is good. They've had some really good special teams
- 19:29Speaker 1: intel this year. There was another play I can't remember.
- 19:32Speaker 1: It wasn't the one against the Rams, but they had
- 19:34Speaker 1: a good was it the remember somebody trying to fake
- 19:37Speaker 1: punt I think against them and they were able to
- 19:39Speaker 1: stop it. And they said Michael talked about that right, Yeah, yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 1: they had some intel that they thought it might be coming.
- 19:44Speaker 1: So special teams coaching has been good.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Right, got her now eleven touchdowns amazing, amazing. We'll talk
- 19:50Speaker 2: more about him at another point of bringing him back
- 19:53Speaker 2: because you know, we noted in March how much they're
- 19:56Speaker 2: trying to trade him. Yeah, it doesn't mean you can't
- 19:59Speaker 2: draft his replacement and in in May. But why can't
- 20:03Speaker 2: you bring him back for another year? But that's another
- 20:04Speaker 2: story we don't get ahead ourselves.
- 20:06Speaker 1: We talked about that, maybe how he should force Saquon
- 20:07Speaker 1: and take a pay cut this off season.
- 20:09Speaker 2: So yeah, but I kid, I kid, Yeah, Christian Parker
- 20:15Speaker 2: another great coach. I mean, you just there's a lot
- 20:17Speaker 2: of I know we're we're being a little bit negative,
- 20:19Speaker 2: but our job is to tell the truth. This is
- 20:21Speaker 2: why you watch other than that they gave it Apps
- 20:25Speaker 2: is this is where they miss Drew McCoo. But it
- 20:27Speaker 2: is not the athlete that mcoob is and just a
- 20:30Speaker 2: much better coverage player. Yepps is a wily, smart guy
- 20:33Speaker 2: like Blanket Ship. But they don't have an athlete back
- 20:35Speaker 2: there right now. That's a problem that's worrisome for the
- 20:39Speaker 2: playoffs when you know if the weather's nice for the
- 20:44Speaker 2: first game, because they'll host it depending on who they play.
- 20:47Speaker 2: If the weather holds up. You know, you got to
- 20:50Speaker 2: see who's back there. Because mccoob's coming back from a
- 20:52Speaker 2: broken an golfee. He plays it all deep into the
- 20:54Speaker 2: playoffs if he could come back. So that's one thing
- 20:56Speaker 2: you're missing. But Bond's a star man. He's just an
- 20:59Speaker 2: incredible football player. One of the best covers linebackers in
- 21:02Speaker 2: the football. Nobody talks about that part that you brought up.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Job Cambell made some plays against the run. There was
- 21:07Speaker 2: a player that you could see clearly in a replay.
- 21:09Speaker 2: You know he he got taken out. That happens. But
- 21:13Speaker 2: you know what, another thing, the defense. They did a
- 21:16Speaker 2: phenomenal job against James Cook. Just a phenomenal job. This
- 21:19Speaker 2: guy's been a killer lately. James Cook, He's a phenomenal
- 21:24Speaker 2: football player. They did a great job against him. I
- 21:27Speaker 2: know that Josh Allen scored two touchdowns, but he had
- 21:29Speaker 2: the one big seventeen yard run, a clearly designed run,
- 21:33Speaker 2: and that they did a great job they did. So
- 21:35Speaker 2: one thing I talked about in our pregame show no
- 21:38Speaker 2: backbreaking runs, h okay, Like Justin Herbert killed them ten
- 21:42Speaker 2: for sixty three, most carries he's had in two years.
- 21:46Speaker 2: But the defense is elite. It's something to feel great
- 21:48Speaker 2: about for a talent with fuck Buddy Ryan, you know,
- 21:51Speaker 2: was should have been like the Hall of Fame. We
- 21:53Speaker 2: never won a playoff game. Vic Fangio is probably the
- 21:58Speaker 2: best assistant coach they've ever had. This is not a
- 22:01Speaker 2: shot at the late great Jim Johnson, who we absolutely loved.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Bick.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Fanjo is a absolute superstar. You know, Nick Foles has
- 22:08Speaker 2: a shrine. Maybe Fanjo gotta be right up this this dude,
- 22:12Speaker 2: no matter what happens to the playoffs, this guy you
- 22:16Speaker 2: you you and I know a guy who used to
- 22:18Speaker 2: work with Vic called him a savant h I would
- 22:23Speaker 2: agree with that. This guy's yeah, it's incredible, Yeah, phenomenal.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Clint Hurt mentioned him too, the big fella. He's he's
- 22:31Speaker 2: what a great hire, What a great hire he was?
- 22:34Speaker 2: And obviously Vic knowing hum he coached for Vic in Chicago.
- 22:37Speaker 2: This is this is a really good staff. But to
- 22:39Speaker 2: summon up guys and gals, has got to get out
- 22:43Speaker 2: of his own way. Stop making excuses. It's your scheme.
- 22:48Speaker 2: This and by the way, the the this has nothing
- 22:50Speaker 2: to do with scheme decision making about what to run
- 22:53Speaker 2: on this specific play. Formationally, look at what you're doing.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Take a step back. I know they don't have a
- 22:59Speaker 2: senior offensive assistant, which was a mistake. By the way,
- 23:03Speaker 2: he needs to take a look at what he's doing here,
- 23:06Speaker 2: because this this is you. You handed the game to
- 23:08Speaker 2: the Bills. The Bill should have won the game.
- 23:10Speaker 1: Hey, I still like a good night out, but I'm

- 26:46Speaker 1: Camedn Apothecary top quality cannabis, great prices, and an experience
- 26:50Speaker 1: made for Philly fans twenty one and up. Absolutely, it
- 26:54Speaker 1: was gift rep. A gift rep comeback, I would say,
- 26:57Speaker 1: And I just I hope that people understand that when
- 27:00Speaker 1: they listen to this, we are not trying to be
- 27:02Speaker 1: intentionally negative or even negative overall. It's sort of like
- 27:06Speaker 1: when a parent scolds a child and says, I'm not
- 27:09Speaker 1: mad at you, I'm disappointed. Right. It's like, we see
- 27:11Speaker 1: a team that has what we believe is at least
- 27:15Speaker 1: in this game. I'm not gonna say every week, but
- 27:16Speaker 1: this this game felt like you had boundless potential to
- 27:20Speaker 1: put this game away and really come out of this
- 27:23Speaker 1: feeling your oats, I mean feeling great about going up
- 27:26Speaker 1: to Buffalo and dominating a good Bills. They're gonna be
- 27:29Speaker 1: in the playoffs, They're gonna be one of those teams
- 27:30Speaker 1: that you think that you got to bring your a
- 27:32Speaker 1: game to beat or they can beat you. So you
- 27:34Speaker 1: had a chance to go up there and really get
- 27:36Speaker 1: yourself that kind of a win that really stamped you as,
- 27:40Speaker 1: if not the best team, one of the best, and
- 27:43Speaker 1: you left unfulfilled, at least, you know the way we're
- 27:46Speaker 1: viewing it, unfulfilling and showing you just how perilous that
- 27:50Speaker 1: line could be. It didn't have to be that way.
- 27:52Speaker 1: So it just means we have really good expectations for
- 27:56Speaker 1: what we think this Eagles team could at least be
- 27:59Speaker 1: or could have been in this game, and then they
- 28:01Speaker 1: let it slip. And we've seen that happen a couple
- 28:03Speaker 1: of times this year, and that that to me, is
- 28:06Speaker 1: just an unfortunate red flag.
- 28:08Speaker 2: You ever hear the phrase people have to get out
- 28:10Speaker 2: of their own way? Yeah, Syrians getting Sirianni's got to
- 28:14Speaker 2: get out of his own way. It's just he has to.
- 28:16Speaker 2: You could blame Patola all you want, and he's the
- 28:18Speaker 2: one that's calling them plays. Play selection was the issue
- 28:22Speaker 2: and it's and I'm not one of those you know,
- 28:24Speaker 2: after the after the game people, oh well, now you're
- 28:27Speaker 2: going to criticize him. No, because you and I are
- 28:28Speaker 2: texting like, no, throw the football. What are you doing?
- 28:31Speaker 2: Throw the football? I see what you're doing. You said
- 28:35Speaker 2: it best. You think you have a four touchdown lead.
- 28:37Speaker 2: You don't. You have less than two touchdowns. You're up
- 28:40Speaker 2: thirteen to nothing. Let's go throw the football. Spread the field,
- 28:43Speaker 2: don't be scared. That's on Nick and that's you can. Again,
- 28:47Speaker 2: you could blame Batulo, but it starts with the head
- 28:50Speaker 2: coach because he is say over that damn offense, and
- 28:52Speaker 2: that's the problem.
- 28:54Speaker 1: And that's about it. All right, we did, We've wrapped
- 28:56Speaker 1: this game up. We've talked about everything there is to
- 28:58Speaker 1: talk about. Fortunately, No, there were some guys who left
- 29:01Speaker 1: the game but came back in. I think we saw
- 29:03Speaker 1: Jael and Phillips leave, come back in. There was somebody
- 29:06Speaker 1: else who got yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 2: So Covey Smith Smith, Avante Smith can yeah, because you're
- 29:11Speaker 2: hit it the the turf there might be hard. So
- 29:15Speaker 2: DeVante Smith on that catch no catch. He In fact,
- 29:20Speaker 2: what happened was he was able to stay in the game.
- 29:22Speaker 2: I don't think he missed the next play because it
- 29:25Speaker 2: went up to review and he the guy's unbelievable. He
- 29:28Speaker 2: stayed in Phillips. It was his left ankle.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Foot m h.
- 29:37Speaker 2: What I did is because I was really okay, they
- 29:40Speaker 2: didn't give an update. I'm like, okay, what is going on.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I'm going to go through the tape. So I'm going
- 29:44Speaker 2: through it since I taped it, I'm just going through it,
- 29:46Speaker 2: going back and forth. I'm like, ah, there he is.
- 29:48Speaker 2: He's getting he's cheering, and he's he's got his helmet
- 29:51Speaker 2: in his hand. He's fine. We're going to go back
- 29:52Speaker 2: in the game. Probably at some point. Oh, Covey. Okay,
- 29:55Speaker 2: Covey looked like he got Okay, that looked like his knee.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Yeah, that was rough.
- 30:00Speaker 2: You slow it down. I look like it was his
- 30:02Speaker 2: squad squad. I agree, yeah, I thought I got it
- 30:05Speaker 2: hit his squad. It's and then, by the way, you know,
- 30:07Speaker 2: he was fine because on that next put, Attorney's going
- 30:10Speaker 2: out of his he had a good return. He's like Yeah,
- 30:12Speaker 2: he's popping his fists. Yeah, that's as good news overall. Look,
- 30:16Speaker 2: my job is to tell the truth. We're not cheer leaders.
- 30:18Speaker 2: We call eating down the mill. We're not fans. Everybody knows.
- 30:21Speaker 2: It's been with us for eight years. People just get
- 30:23Speaker 2: mad at us. We're not rooting for the Eagles, Like,
- 30:25Speaker 2: would you listen to us? We're rooting for them. Come on, man,
- 30:29Speaker 2: but we called down the middle. It is good for
- 30:31Speaker 2: a business when they win. Don't tell anybody, no, I.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Never heard of that. No, yeah no.
- 30:37Speaker 2: But the bottom line is they're really good. They're a
- 30:40Speaker 2: good football team. The head coaches got to get his
- 30:42Speaker 2: own way, and you know what, they actually might go
- 30:45Speaker 2: deep in the playoffs if they could do that.
- 30:47Speaker 1: They really could, They really could. If they can get
- 30:49Speaker 1: out their own way.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Who's really better than them? Honestly, who's really better than them?
- 30:52Speaker 2: Seattle's got a great record, but they're not that good.
- 30:56Speaker 1: No. I mean, I still think the Rams are the
- 30:58Speaker 1: most complete team in football. I don't think they have
- 31:00Speaker 1: a better fifty three. But they've played better, more consistent
- 31:04Speaker 1: football and both sides ball than the Eagles all year long.
- 31:06Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean the Eagles can't. Yes, yes, so
- 31:11Speaker 1: that is another thing, all right, real quick, just to
- 31:15Speaker 1: look ahead, because the Eagles are basically locked into the
- 31:18Speaker 1: three seeds and there'd have to be like a thousand
- 31:20Speaker 1: things happened for them to move to the two. And
- 31:22Speaker 1: as we're recording this part of.
- 31:23Speaker 2: The well, by the way, Nick kind of he he
- 31:26Speaker 2: he gave seventy five percent in on the questions about
- 31:29Speaker 2: wrestling players. But well, you know, we might we have
- 31:33Speaker 2: an outside you know, we have a chance to get
- 31:35Speaker 2: the two. So he doesn't want to go there yet,
