Latest / Worldview Matters With David Fiorazo / John Haller: Assassination of Charlie Kirk - How Do We Respond?
Transcript
- 0:00Go around universities and have challenging conversations and because that's what is so important to our country is to find our disagreements respectfully because when people stop talking that's when violence happens.
- 0:13I've never seen someone do this.
- 0:15It's a growing trend because people like me are facing violence, assault, the left.
- 0:21Yes, the campus antifa, I've been stormed out of restaurants, I've been assaulted publicly, multiple death threats.
- 0:28So what's your goal in your place?
- 0:30There's more people that agree with me than some people would actually believe and they come out of the woodwork when I do stuff like this.
- 0:36We record all of it so that we put on the internet so people can see these ideas collide.
- 0:40When people stop talking that's when you get violence. That's when civil war happens because you start to think the other side is so evil and they lose their humanity.
- 0:49Welcome to World View Matters, discussing controversial issues, discerning current events, defending biblical Christianity.
- 1:00No topic, off limits.
- 1:03And now, here's your host, David Firazo.
- 1:09Hi friends, welcome to another podcast with this important topic and what just happened a week ago.
- 1:15The assassination of Charlie Kirk and I've got a couple quotes and we're bringing our good friend John Haller in a minute.
- 1:21You heard what Charlie said himself his purpose and he wasn't he was always respectful.
- 1:28He wasn't violent. He said he believes in using words.
- 1:32Hugh, Hugh, it said every murder is grievous but I've never had a friend and colleague murdered before.
- 1:38For Charlie to have been assassinated for his beliefs and for attempting to persuade college kids of truth is sickening beyond words.
- 1:47Chris Stiegel said Charlie Kirk was a man of bold faith. He stood on God's word.
- 1:52Charlie is victorious today. He's home with his father in heaven.
- 1:58He lived and literally died on that truth and we know that Charlie proclaimed the gospel just moments before the assassination.
- 2:06So much to talk about today including how unbelievably maybe the left is responding.
- 2:12John Haller, thank you so much for your time brother. Good to see you.
- 2:16I wish it was under better circumstances.
- 2:19Yes and I'll tell everybody that the inside scoop here I was going to have you on a little later in the month and we had someone scheduled from turning point USA to record a podcast with us but they had rescheduled for obvious reasons.
- 2:34That lot going on there. First of all, two questions. What do you think the direction of turning point USA but your overall view on where we're at and does this change anything in America?
- 2:47So I think turning point USA will continue. I think that the people that work there are associated with it and its contributors will want to continue it as a fitting legacy to the work that Charlie Kirk did.
- 3:08In the in the in the big picture of things.
- 3:13And I am seeing a lot of people that I have a lot of respect for.
- 3:18That may or may not have known Charlie Kirk, you know, some of my friends are very, I am not personally met Charlie.
- 3:26But friends of mine are very close to him. Jack Gibbs, other people.
- 3:31And Jack did a great tribute to Charlie the night of the shooting at the Capitol Chapel, Chino Hills, you can get that online. But I do think that in the big picture of things of what's going on in the culture.
- 3:49That's what we call the culture wars. This is a very big deal. It is a watershed moment in America. I mean, you know, when when we think back I'm a little older than you are. So I remember I was nine years old when Kennedy was assassinated.
- 4:07I was 14 when Martin Luther King and Robert F Kennedy Jr. Robert F Kennedy were assassinated in 1968.
- 4:21I remember Reagan being shot in 1981, a couple of attempts on Gerald Ford's life before that. So, you know, this has all been part in parcel of life.
- 4:36My own personal experience. But, you know, this one, this one feels different. I think it's probably because Charlie was very young. He was only 31. He was married, had two small children.
- 4:51So pray for Erica and the children. Yes.
- 4:55I've heard I've not been able to confirm it, but I heard they were at the event. I don't know where they were. I hope not.
- 5:04I think I saw Glenn Beck talking on making Kelly. And I believe his sons were at the event. Yeah, I heard that.
- 5:13This this and so the event itself. So let's talk first about Charlie what Charlie was consistent.
- 5:26And he was open. He was direct. I don't think I ever saw him got and get he got insulting towards the people that he was debating or dialogueing with.
- 5:41I think that he asked them. I think they would they would disagree with that, by the way. I think they would say that he was very insulting. But all he really did was he.
- 5:53He asked tough questions. And he made good arguments. So I mean, look, we can argue whether we agree or not with all of his tactics and things that he did. I don't think that's the point of the discussion here.
- 6:07That that's for a much later time. But certainly in the scheme of conservative biblical based values and politics.
- 6:22There was nobody larger outside of the political sphere outside of the, you know, the government sphere that Charlie Kirk.
- 6:32And I believe that he was specifically targeted for that. I think there's some things we have to be honest with. This was a.
- 6:42This has all the hallmarks of a professional hit. You can see from the video. I've seen it many times. Charlie was wearing at least a bulletproof vest or some kind of Kevlar body armor under his shirt.
- 6:58And the shot and I've also seen schematics of the angle of the shot. His head would not have been visible to the shooter.
- 7:08But his neck was and I'm convinced I don't think this was a ricochet or anything like that. I think this was a correct hit.
- 7:17A shot at his carotid or carotid artery or jugular vein. And you've seen the you've seen the videos when it hit. There was just a massive amount of blood. I'm.
- 7:30I have friends or special forces who were military. They've been in combat and every one of them that I communicated with early yesterday afternoon.
- 7:42And I think that was this. This was before the announcement came. They all said that there was no way that he could survive that shot that lost the amount of loss of blood. And I'm pretty sure.
- 7:55If you look at the video, I'm pretty sure that he died instantaneously from the shot. Of course, there were attempts made to save or revive him. But Charlie was already with the ward.
- 8:09And so his testimony was always consistent till the end. You know, I just you know four days. He never we have four days before the end. He was just put a post up on excess on X about, you know, because Jesus died so I can live.
- 8:30And that's the way that he approached it. We have that. There it is. That's what he tweeted out. Jesus defeated death. So you can live. He Charlie Kirk was all about the gospel. We quoted Alex Newman in a previous podcast.
- 8:45It's all about Jesus. That's what Charlie said. He was a family man, but he more importantly, he was a man of faith. And then husband, father, conservative, patriot. But let's go back to the American come back tour. This is interesting.
- 9:02The American come back tour. John the timing of this. And this was planned out. It was the first stop. So whoever was behind this assassination. They were planning this fall 2025 tour featuring Charlie Kirk. American come back tour.com. It's got its own separate website.
- 9:23And this was the first stop at Utah Valley University. And John, you're your your thoughts on this. If you're evil, if you're demented demonic, if you're on the left, a globalist and want to take someone like a prominent effective communicator and conservative like Charlie Kirk out.
- 9:41You would look at all these places and you go, okay, all the rest of these are very liberal towns or universities, blue cities. But then you go, Utah might be the best opportunity with the less the least amount of security, your thoughts.
- 9:57Well, I think in some respects, that's probably true. You know, it's it's impossible to provide 100% security protection at outdoor events like this. I mean, the witness would be what happened to President Trump.
- 10:14That during the 2024 campaign in Butler, Pennsylvania. I think that the fact that this was the first stop on the tour.
- 10:25They they wanted to silence Charlie Kirk. So they decided to get him at the beginning of the tour of the tour. So he could not do anything. His his his voice would be silenced.
- 10:41This was a it has all the homerks of a professional hit. Obviously, the guy, you know, who as we record this, they're looking for him. They've released photographs of persons of interest. They have not as as we record this had not arrested anybody.
- 11:04This this was a professional. Yeah, I mean, this was this was 200 yards away to give you some example, the the attempt on President Trump was 70 yards. So this was almost three times as far away.
- 11:19600 feet as opposed to 200 feet. That's that's that's a difficult shot, you know, that's from far on.
- 11:30Yes, sniper experts would say that with a with a light breeze that that ball could move inches in that distance.
- 11:40So, you know, somebody had to factor that in. And it was it was it was done. It hit what it designed. It was directed to hit hit him in the net.
- 11:51And that's a pretty. That's that's going to be fatal. Yeah.
- 11:57But that's fast, fast majority of the time. So there it is. Bring that up. That keep that up there. That's that was a quite a distance. You said, how many yards, John?
- 12:08200 yards. That's two football. Two football field lengths. And man, it's almost an impossible shot. But again, if you're professional, I got an article by Leo Holman.
- 12:20And by Leo Holman here, and he said, make no mistake. This was the work of a professional hitman, someone with training, not some weapons novice or random person or transgender that they may maybe maybe maybe made it look like who just didn't like Charlie Kirk.
- 12:36I think it means we've answered a new stage in the battle for America. It means speakers who put forth a certain message, especially conservatives with a Christian worldview may not be safe any longer, not in public for sure.
- 12:50And then he said, when the left reaches for high level assassinations, you know, they are desperate and willing to do anything. And they've never been afraid to engage in violence. But he also says, I urge calm from my brothers and sisters on the right. Don't forget Charlie or his message, especially his love of family, family values, love for God and his respect with those he disagreed with John Hall or your thoughts.
- 13:17Well, what I'm seeing across the internet today is somewhat it's even in even in someone with very low expectations, as I am, it's still been rather shocking.
- 13:39You know, we've had political assassinations within the last month or so. I don't remember anybody on the conservative side of the ledger celebrating those.
- 13:55And Charlie was talking about transgender shooters and some of the problems that we've had with that recent attack on the school of Boston. I think it was Catholic school of Boston.
- 14:10And or where it's hard to keep and it's hard many apples. It's hard to keep them straight after a while, because there's been so many of them.
- 14:19And it's immediately suppressed now in this most recent one, the manifesto got out there so people could see the manifesto.
- 14:27So I think that.
- 14:31And so I've talked pretty boldly about that. I, you know, as I go through my life, I encounter people who are struggling with this transgender issue.
- 14:48We all meet them.
- 14:50And I will say, you know, as a conservative event politically and evangelical conservative evangelical Christian.
- 14:59And my general reaction when I see this and I encounter people is I have this really profound sense of sadness.
- 15:10And I really do. And I don't know what to do about it. I'm concerned about the people.
- 15:18I have a much different reaction, though, to the people that push these drugs and these surgeries on people and even want to push them on younger and younger people. This is demonic.
- 15:34And so if you're going to be raged about it, be raged, rage at those people. And the cityology is part of it is it's designed.
- 15:47First, they're making money at it. But second, most importantly, it's designed to tear down the foundations of society and the moral foundations of society.
- 15:58And I know that being a moral person doesn't save you. That's not the point. The point is that things are very different today than they were 50, 60, 70, 80 years ago.
- 16:12You know, I'll just share this briefly. My mother was an unchurched, unsaved young lady. And she went to a very famous fundamental evangelical Christian college.
- 16:26Now people, so how could that be? And the answer is that somebody coming from Westrop, Pennsylvania in the early 1940s.
- 16:37Live the life that was not that different from very religious Christians at the time. The societal morality was very closely associated with Christianity and what Christianity stood for.
- 16:51And so it wasn't culture shock for my mother to go to that university. She got saved there very early on, but it wasn't the shock that it would be now.
- 17:05And so what Charlie stood boldly, he debated people, he took on all comers. And so I applaud that. I think he's a good example. I have been looking at the pictures of his wife and children in the videos.
- 17:24And I want to give Charlie and Erica Kirk a big vote of approval for how they have handled the publicity of their children, which are very important in their lives since they were born.
- 17:41Yes. If you watch those videos, if you look at those pictures, one thing that you will see, what, what do you not see in that picture? The kids faces do not see the kids faces in every video that I have seen every picture, every video, every post does not show the children's faces. And that shows a man who has a utmost concern, respect and love for his children.
- 18:08Yeah. Amen. Hey, John, let's now shift because we're running out of time quickly to how the media responded. We are recording this podcast 24 hours after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
- 18:20It's going to air later that you, you friends watching right now, you're thinking, okay, this just happened last week. If you missed this, let's go to ABC, then we'll go to MSNBC. Go ahead and play the clip.
- 18:30Charlie Kirk has been shot during an event at Utah Valley University, the founder of Turning Point, USA, a conservative student organization is known for his outspoken views on politics, culture, religion, often taking his messages to colleges and universities, sparking sometimes pretty heated debates on campus. Let's get right to our chief investigative correspondent, Aaron Katerzky. Aaron, what do you know?
- 18:58Two law enforcement sources confirmed to ABC Newscure that Charlie Kirk indeed was shot as he was speaking at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University.
- 19:08You're right, his presence there at the university had divided the campus according to an article in the school paper where there were people on both sides debating whether he should even be allowed to bring his message often loyal to the agenda of President Trump to campus.
- 19:25But he was speaking at this outdoor event in a courtyard. We've seen some video of that event a shot rings out the entire crowd goes scattering.
- 19:35Okay, John, before I let you respond, I want to just get this one in. This is now Matthew Dowd. I think that's his name. I don't watch it, but he was apparently fired for saying this on the report after the assassination.
- 19:48By following up with what was just said, he's been one of the most divisive, especially divisive younger figures in this who is constantly sort of pushing this sort of hate speech or sort of aimed at certain groups.
- 20:01And I always go back to hateful thoughts lead to hateful words, which then lead to hateful actions.
- 20:10So ABC, Charlie Kirk had it coming, MSNBC, hateful thoughts. He had it coming because of his words, his biblical worldview.
- 20:19He was speaking the truth, whether that be about abortion, life in the womb, that we about male female, the transgender issue, whether that be about illegal immigration policy. He was speaking the truth from a biblical perspective defending the gospel.
- 20:34John, this is how just a little glimpse a scratch of the surface of how the media handled this. Go ahead.
- 20:42There's a clip out there, David, that you may may not have seen from TMZ network entertainment news network.
- 20:51And the host was talking about what was going on and the newsroom erupted in cheering.
- 20:58I think they apologized for that last night. Listen, they said it was because they were cheering a car chase.
- 21:04Yeah. Okay. So this is the day of digital media. Everybody was looking to see if there were any car chases in California yesterday and there were not.
- 21:13So that is a big fat lie, I believe, by TMZ. And it's clear that immediately after the cheering, he announces that Charlie Kirk is dead.
- 21:24So it's clear that the people on their computers were all seeing that at the same time.
- 21:30Yeah, because they just were, they just told him Donald Trump's post that Charlie Kirk was dead on truth social.
- 21:38They were telling him at the same time when you heard the cheers. So very, very suspicious, very suspect.
- 21:44But I mean, I give you a Molly Hemingway posted a tweet at a post from a lawyer from Perkins Koy, who said that the current political moment.
- 21:57This is a guy's name is Bradley, the lot, the LATT, where this occurred political moment where an extremist Supreme Court, in fact, was Republican Congress are enabling a Republican president to become a tyrant and building him modern day, Gestapo for assaulting black and brown folks is a result of Charlie Kirk's contributions to American media politics.
- 22:21Unbelievable. This is a boldface lie. Really unbelievable. It is untrue, but you could imagine somebody who is at the law firm that led the Russian hoax, would have very different political views.
- 22:35But I mean, this, I mean, so listen, let's not say that this is just some alphabet mafia, you know, people that are against Charlie Kirk because of what he stood for.
- 22:47These are mainstream people at large law firms that working government that I just saw the president of the Oxford Student Union was posting.
- 22:58They were approved of who Charlie Kirk debated, by the way, Oxford Union at Oxford University in the UK. He was saying, you know, this is this is this is it. Let's go.
- 23:09And so you have to understand what where they're coming from. So I think that we need to stand boldly for these things. We need to call out the people that push the alphabet, not mafia agenda.
- 23:22Trevor Loudon last night, who we both know. I have interviewed and you know Trevor was very clear that this is clearly part of the red green access that he has been talking about for many years.
- 23:37And he he's convinced as well that this is a professional hit from some kind of maybe foreign intelligence that's trying to divide us.
- 23:49And this will be very divisive. People are very upset. So we need to be very careful about how we react to this. But we should not back down because that's what they would really want us to do.
- 24:00That's right. And the globalist would love if America erupted into some sort of civil war, not in the way that we historically had one in the 1800s, but a kind of right against the left or whatever.
- 24:11But before we run out of time, I want to mention Ben Shapiro. This is interesting, John. He said it was a privilege to watch Charlie Kirk, this principled man stand up for his beliefs and create the single most important conservative political organization in America.
- 24:26But more importantly, Charlie was a good man who believed in right and wrong, who stood by his biblical values. All of us will miss him. And I can't imagine the pain of his beautiful young family. And we all must pray for them.
- 24:38And we must pick up the baton where Charlie left it, fighting for the things he believed in so passionately. And I want to just mention, I would just sent this by our producer that he Ben Shapiro apparently announced that he's going to be heading to college campuses across the country.
- 24:55John, how are your thoughts in the last three minutes?
- 24:58Well, one thing that I will say is that perhaps one thing that people should do is go check the hate index or hate, I hate groups identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center on their website and pray for those people.
- 25:16And contribute to them so they can provide security for themselves as they speak the truth to these complete wackos and nut jobs.
- 25:26So not the SPLC, but the hate group, who they call hate groups.
- 25:31Yeah, I mean, like the family research council.
- 25:35Remember the attack with the Chick-fil-A thing at the family research council headquarters in Washington DC many years ago, they've been identified on the Southern Poverty Leadership Center website.
- 25:49And so they have an article out there about turning point USA a case study of the hard right in 2024.
- 25:56Wow. So they're on the hate list.
- 25:59So listen, they say it.
- 26:02They put targets on people and then immediately people will say, well, look at look at how bad people on the right are.
- 26:09They will always accuse you of being what they are.
- 26:14Yep, exactly. They point the finger.
- 26:16What do you call that projection when they're the ones that are hateful and they're because we are speaking the truth.
- 26:22Didn't someone say truth is hate to those who hate the truth.
- 26:26And by the way, there's a very interesting quote I want to end with. We got a minute, John.
- 26:31And you remember this one.
- 26:34It was who was this?
- 26:37I'm bringing it all. Come on. I'm looking for it now. I know it's somewhere. There it is.
- 26:41George Orwell, the further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it.
- 26:49Friends, stay in the word of God. Stay grounded. Stay rooted and established in the biblical world.
- 26:55View the truth of the gospel and the word of God.
- 26:57Look up first Peter three eight through 18 and how we should respond to this.
- 27:02And Jesus Paul warned about persecution. John, 30 seconds, your final thoughts.
- 27:09Pray for Charlie's family.
- 27:12Pray for and support the people at turning point USA who will be carrying on his legacy.
- 27:19And don't you, you cannot forget what happened on September 10, 2025, just like we cannot forget what happened on November 22nd, 1963 or September 11th, 2021.
- 27:35Yes. These are watershed moments in American history. And I am thoroughly convinced that this is one of them.
- 27:41We'll see how things change friends. But John, thanks for your time. We appreciate it.
- 27:45Thank you, David.
- 27:46All right. Friends, thank you. God bless you. And as always, keep speaking the truth about things that matter.
