- 0:41Speaker 3: is happening? I'm roblin Quist. Good, I'm Bo and we're
- 0:45Speaker 3: the Avid Indoorsman. Hello everyone, How are you all?
- 0:49Speaker 2: And how are you sir? I'm doing good man. I'm
- 0:51Speaker 2: a little sleepy today. I don't know if it's like
- 0:53Speaker 2: the sun setting earlier or what's going.
- 0:56Speaker 3: On the thing. It's that time of year.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it gets gets dark early, which I kind of
- 1:01Speaker 2: like in a way, but I'm not We're going to
- 1:03Speaker 2: get cold now, I'm excited.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Yeah. So we are still recording this a little bit
- 1:08Speaker 3: before bucks the day before Halloween and oh yeah that's true.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Like yesterday, so the thirtieth I was in shorts. It
- 1:17Speaker 3: was unbelievable. It's starting to get colder, and we're also
- 1:23Speaker 3: at that time of year where I did, spent like
- 1:27Speaker 3: two hours getting all the leaves into various bags, and
- 1:32Speaker 3: then the next day it looked like I didn't do anything.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you're like cool, glad, I cool.
- 1:38Speaker 3: So did it again, same exact thing happened. So pretty
- 1:42Speaker 3: annoyed with the leaves, even though they're pretty. And this
- 1:48Speaker 3: very night we actually just carved some pumpkins.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Oh lovely. What'd we go with?
- 1:53Speaker 3: Classic? Yeah, pretty much. I went with someone who was
- 1:58Speaker 3: like looking at their little nose, so cross that and
- 2:03Speaker 3: then little little buck teeth. So it's kind of love that. Yeah,
- 2:09Speaker 3: that's fun. Nice. Yeah. I don't usually partake because it's
- 2:14Speaker 3: just more fun watching the kids do it and stuff,
- 2:16Speaker 3: but they really wanted me to do it, insist. Yeah,
- 2:20Speaker 3: so that's what I've been doing for the last couple
- 2:23Speaker 3: of hours.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Trick or treat thing.
- 2:25Speaker 3: Oh we sure are, yeah, big time. I mean it's
- 2:30Speaker 3: just trick or treating.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys just go around the hood.
- 2:34Speaker 3: Yeah. Nice. A lot of kids in the area, so
- 2:37Speaker 3: there's houses doing the candy and yeah it'd be good.
- 2:41Speaker 2: That sounds wonderful, lovefully.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I don't have a segue. What was the last movie
- 2:48Speaker 3: you watched? Yeah, I don't either.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Some some people were trick or treating of sorts in this,
- 2:55Speaker 2: but adults. I watched the Instigators.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Oh was that your first time watching it?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I hadn't seen that one yet. I know you
- 3:04Speaker 2: brought it up before because.
- 3:05Speaker 3: I saw it, like I happened to see it like
- 3:07Speaker 3: the day it came out.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Oh that's right, that's yeah, I remember that.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Now.
- 3:12Speaker 2: This is the Apple TV plus Matt Damon and Casey
- 3:16Speaker 2: Affleck movie for folks who don't know or didn't hear
- 3:18Speaker 2: that one. Really fun, I thought, I think, which echoes
- 3:22Speaker 2: what you said. Kind of a different character for Matt Damon,
- 3:26Speaker 2: which was kind of fun because he's kind of like
- 3:29Speaker 2: a I don't know, like a bumbling kind of goody
- 3:32Speaker 2: two shoesy kind of guy almost. And then Casey Affleck
- 3:37Speaker 2: is kind of a dirt bag but not really so
- 3:40Speaker 2: like that's not that different, but he's pretty casey. Yeah,
- 3:43Speaker 2: he's good at it though, right, So it is what
- 3:46Speaker 2: it is. I thought this this movie was really fun.
- 3:49Speaker 2: It's like a comedy, heisty, criminal kind of flick, kind
- 3:53Speaker 2: of similar to like the Wolf's Vibe that we talked
- 3:56Speaker 2: about before. Too similar ish anyway, And it's just kind
- 4:01Speaker 2: of that, like it's a buddy comedy, right, So that's
- 4:05Speaker 2: that's what it is. That's what we're here for. Some
- 4:07Speaker 2: fun people were in it.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I just it's not like a remarkable movie in any way.
- 4:13Speaker 2: But I really had a nice time. I feel like,
- 4:16Speaker 2: you know, like that's that feels like the the biggest
- 4:20Speaker 2: takeaway I have from it.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Agreed, I was. I was into it. I liked it. It
- 4:24Speaker 3: was fun.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a nice time. It's like an hour forty
- 4:27Speaker 2: or something, so like you're in, you're out, you're on
- 4:30Speaker 2: with your day. You have a nice time. So if
- 4:33Speaker 2: you like sort of a heisty action comedy film, check
- 4:37Speaker 2: it out. It's really fun, very cool. Yeah, how about
- 4:40Speaker 2: you what you've been watching.
- 4:42Speaker 3: I watched a movie on a plane that was so
- 4:45Speaker 3: incredibly violent. I had to keep looking over my shoulder
- 4:49Speaker 3: and making sure like little kids were watching.
- 4:51Speaker 2: It's like either like sex stuff or violence.
- 4:54Speaker 3: I feel like I'm always like I didn't know, was
- 4:56Speaker 3: trying to close the monitor put you know, cover it
- 5:00Speaker 3: in some way. But not a monster, I swear I'm not.
- 5:03Speaker 3: But have you seen Monkey Man?
- 5:06Speaker 4: No?
- 5:07Speaker 3: I haven't.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I keep meaning to it. That's the dev Patel one
- 5:09Speaker 2: right exactly.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, he wrote, directed, and starred in it. That's cool,
- 5:16Speaker 3: and it's a very john Wick revenge. That's movie.
- 5:20Speaker 2: That's the vibe I got from it too, for sure. Yeah. Nice.
- 5:24Speaker 3: So, like the main story is that some powerful guy
- 5:29Speaker 3: murdered his mom when he was really young and he
- 5:31Speaker 3: spends his life waiting to avenger pretty much. Okay, cool,
- 5:36Speaker 3: but yeah, incredibly violent. I think it's even worse than
- 5:40Speaker 3: john Wick in terms of violence because there's just a
- 5:43Speaker 3: lot of blood hand stuff.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, like they're like fighting with each not so much
- 5:50Speaker 2: like just shooting. I mean, yeah, you know what I mean.
- 5:53Speaker 3: John Way shooting guns, mowing most of these guys y
- 5:57Speaker 3: one shot where this is more grafting. Yeah, it's like
- 6:04Speaker 3: real sweaty. And it was impressive filmmaking for sure.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Cool.
- 6:11Speaker 3: You can tell that Dev Patel spent a lot of
- 6:13Speaker 3: time preparing in all aspects, like the physical part. But
- 6:18Speaker 3: then also I can't really imagine having direct to direct
- 6:22Speaker 3: all these scenes and start so really impressive. If you're
- 6:28Speaker 3: not super into violence and things like that, stay way
- 6:33Speaker 3: clearat But yeah, I definitely recommend it if that's something
- 6:37Speaker 3: you're into and it turns out I I am, I don't,
- 6:42Speaker 3: but it doesn't like the super violence doesn't bug me
- 6:46Speaker 3: too much. Yeah, I get.
- 6:49Speaker 2: That, but like weird things will for me. But overall,
- 6:53Speaker 2: I'm just like.
- 6:54Speaker 3: They're very specific things that happen in a violence that
- 6:57Speaker 3: I'll be like, oh no, no no, but no, I
- 7:03Speaker 3: kind of dig it. And these revenge films are just
- 7:06Speaker 3: they're kind of fun.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Well, and he's really good, like I like him a lot,
- 7:10Speaker 2: so that's that's fun. I didn't know that he wrote
- 7:12Speaker 2: directed all that stuff too. That's pretty wild. Yeah goo am,
- 7:17Speaker 2: that's fine.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not sure if it's streaming, but it's on
- 7:19Speaker 3: Delta flights if you're going on there, are you streaming anything?
- 7:25Speaker 1: Uh?
- 7:25Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 7:26Speaker 2: I streamed a movie I think that you talked about previously,
- 7:30Speaker 2: and it came up during one of our drafts. I
- 7:33Speaker 2: think maybe okay with the Hound and the Fox folks.
- 7:36Speaker 2: But I watched Bodies, Bodies, Bodies.
- 7:40Speaker 3: I watched that one on a plane.
- 7:41Speaker 2: HBO Max, I believe is where that one was.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, all there a lot of the A twenty
- 7:46Speaker 3: four films around.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Oh that's right, because it's an A twenty four film. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 7:51Speaker 2: I liked it. Okay, I didn't love this one.
- 7:54Speaker 3: I didn't love it either.
- 7:55Speaker 2: I kind of thought it was going to be funnier, honestly,
- 7:57Speaker 2: and it wasn't. Really. They did a lot of what
- 8:00Speaker 2: I felt like, and you know, like we always talk about, right,
- 8:04Speaker 2: like maybe I just wasn't in the mood that day
- 8:06Speaker 2: or something, but it felt like a lot of like
- 8:09Speaker 2: heavy handed, like rich people are dumb and bad and
- 8:13Speaker 2: kids who you know, they're all just virtue signaling and
- 8:17Speaker 2: we're all dirt bags and whatever. And I was just like, okay,
- 8:20Speaker 2: I mean, I get it all right, but like, I
- 8:23Speaker 2: don't know, just felt kind of like, okay, you know
- 8:26Speaker 2: to me. But there's some really cool stuff in it.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I thought that, Uh, it was fun to see what
- 8:34Speaker 2: is is it?
- 8:34Speaker 3: Maria back?
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Maria Bakalova. It was fun to see her in
- 8:39Speaker 2: a different role. So this must have been before she
- 8:43Speaker 2: was in Was this after? I guess it.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Was after Boratt?
- 8:49Speaker 2: Yeah, because she was in Yeah, Okay, I got the
- 8:52Speaker 2: timeline all mixed up in my head. But yeah, So
- 8:54Speaker 2: it was just fun to see her in something else.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Weird character though that we never really get any backs to,
- 9:00Speaker 2: which is strange.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I don't know. It didn't.
- 9:03Speaker 2: This one didn't hit for me, but I think some
- 9:05Speaker 2: good cinematography stuff in it, and it's not like it's
- 9:09Speaker 2: it's not a terrible watch or anything, you know, it's
- 9:11Speaker 2: just kind of like, eh to me.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, and it's you know, the horror
- 9:16Speaker 3: movie everyone you know starts dying and weirdays and yes, yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 3: it's uh yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 2: It is kind of a fun conclusion, I guess. I
- 9:27Speaker 2: don't know. Yeah, it just didn't. It didn't hit me
- 9:29Speaker 2: quite in the right way. But it is a horror movie,
- 9:31Speaker 2: and I'm not like the hugest fan of those, but
- 9:34Speaker 2: I wanted to watch a couple pre Halloween, you know,
- 9:37Speaker 2: to just be like, I don't know, it feels seasonal.
- 9:40Speaker 2: But I've heard from a ton of people that they
- 9:43Speaker 2: really like this one. If you're super into horror, so
- 9:46Speaker 2: check it out if that's the thing you're into. But
- 9:48Speaker 2: it was just okay for me. Cool, what have you
- 9:51Speaker 2: been stir reaming?
- 9:52Speaker 3: Yeah? I streamed something kind of spooky and in the
- 9:55Speaker 3: Halloween spirit as well. You're spoogy, way funnier than yours, okay, Kelson.
- 10:02Speaker 3: I watched the first two episodes of What We Do
- 10:04Speaker 3: in the Shadows season six.
- 10:07Speaker 2: I'm caught up to current.
- 10:09Speaker 3: I think I don't know how many there are.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I think i've four, three or four.
- 10:14Speaker 3: But yes, so fun, right, it's so much fun.
- 10:19Speaker 2: Yes, the final season, yeah, I don't know, I haven't heard.
- 10:23Speaker 3: Okay, but it starts off great. All the characters are back.
- 10:31Speaker 3: They've added a new guy, which I love how they're
- 10:34Speaker 3: able to just be like, yeah, we just forgot about him.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Oh my god, we should wake him up. So funny,
- 10:41Speaker 3: it's ridiculous. Yeah, do you recognize that guy Jerry? You know,
- 10:47Speaker 3: he was a He was a writer on SNL and
- 10:53Speaker 3: he would be, you know, in the cast every once
- 10:56Speaker 3: in a while.
- 10:57Speaker 2: I didn't, and then I read something about who he
- 10:59Speaker 2: was and I was like, oh, that makes sense. I know,
- 11:03Speaker 2: not right off, fan, I didn't.
- 11:05Speaker 3: Another thing I noticed is that Nadja is clearly pregnant.
- 11:09Speaker 3: So it'll be interesting to see if that becomes a
- 11:12Speaker 3: storyline or if they're just gonna keep hiding it, which
- 11:15Speaker 3: they did episodes. Yeah, they're just ignoring it and having
- 11:19Speaker 3: her in like big drapey things. And honestly, she was
- 11:22Speaker 3: school anywhere. Yeah, but yeah, I'm gonna love it. I
- 11:28Speaker 3: love the first two episodes. It's so great. It's one
- 11:30Speaker 3: of my favorite shows on television. I'm such a huge,
- 11:34Speaker 3: fat fan. I could watch a million seasons.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just so funny, Like I don't know, it's
- 11:39Speaker 2: it's always inventive and new and fresh somehow, I don't know. Yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 2: it's really fun.
- 11:43Speaker 3: They're all like super down and depressed. And Colin Robinson,
- 11:50Speaker 3: he he just keeps getting bigger and bigger. He's like,
- 11:53Speaker 3: I'm not even trying to feed. This is just the
- 11:57Speaker 3: vibes in the house and oh kills me.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really something. There's small choices in that show
- 12:05Speaker 2: are so funny, the things they just I don't know.
- 12:08Speaker 2: That's really great.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Into it and that is on I think it's on FX.
- 12:12Speaker 2: We watch it on Hulu, so yeah, I do too, actually,
- 12:15Speaker 2: so I don't even know.
- 12:16Speaker 3: I think it is show.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll say that we're here. Nice love it? Well?
- 12:23Speaker 2: Should we do? If you plug our rounds?
- 12:25Speaker 3: I think we should?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Nice. You guys can visit us as always over on

- 13:05Speaker 3: much for your patronage. Another thing we will do for
- 13:09Speaker 3: our patrons is do an extended version of every episode.
- 13:14Speaker 3: We'll do a top five draft that pertains to the
- 13:16Speaker 3: movie we're talking about. For this one kind of surprise,
- 13:20Speaker 3: we haven't done it yet. Our top five favorite mistaken
- 13:25Speaker 3: identity movies, Same SAME's And yeah, I mean, I think
- 13:31Speaker 3: there will probably be some discussion on what we think counts.
- 13:36Speaker 2: But it's a little wishy washy, right, like there's some
- 13:39Speaker 2: room for some wiggle room.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Which is actually I kind of like that just make
- 13:43Speaker 3: make a good argument that it's.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Also a pretty common trope. So I feel like, again
- 13:48Speaker 2: there's gonna be something I'm.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Like, too common. Yeah, that's true, that is true. I
- 13:52Speaker 3: really only found like twenty five so yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 2: That's how this goes about the same I found interesting.
- 14:00Speaker 2: It'll be fun to see what differences there are in
- 14:02Speaker 2: our in all our things, So.
- 14:04Speaker 3: That'll be sure.
- 14:05Speaker 2: We'll look forward to that, just like we'll look forward
- 14:08Speaker 2: to the next movie, which is Shan of the Dead.
- 14:11Speaker 3: Shawn of the Dead.
- 14:13Speaker 2: A really fun horror adjacent movie for sure, Oh.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Sure, but very funny. So I think you guys, yeah,
- 14:21Speaker 3: that one's twenty years old now, so that's.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that's crazy, that's crazy. But we're here today to
- 14:28Speaker 2: talk about another film.
- 14:29Speaker 3: That is question. I guess twenty five years old.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Oh, nineteen and ninety nine.
- 14:36Speaker 3: What a year for movies.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Ninety nine was huhne nine. But this is not a
- 14:42Speaker 2: horror film. This is a sci fi classic of sorts.
- 14:46Speaker 2: We're here to talk about Galaxy Quest. And we had
- 14:50Speaker 2: to get just two of our friends who are out
- 14:52Speaker 2: of this world this one. We just had Interstellar, so
- 14:56Speaker 2: I feel like that's cheating. I don't know, there's still
- 14:59Speaker 2: we could.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Have done a whole whole like month of of space movies.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Would have been Yeah, we like to think about these
- 15:06Speaker 2: things after the fact, but you guys have met them
- 15:10Speaker 2: before if you listen to Jurassic Park back in the day.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Let's get it out for our good pals, Dave and Jenny.
- 15:16Speaker 3: How what's up, guys. Good to see you guys.
- 15:24Speaker 5: You doing very well. You guys doing so good, so good?
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yes, sir, I'm doing well.
- 15:36Speaker 5: You don't have to you can. You can wink if
- 15:38Speaker 5: it's a little.
- 15:42Speaker 2: We look like we're in different places, but Rob is
- 15:44Speaker 2: right there prepared.
- 15:45Speaker 3: To hit if if he needs to.
- 15:48Speaker 2: You don't tell them that.
- 15:50Speaker 5: It's we look like we're in the same place, but
- 15:52Speaker 5: we're actually recording two separate studios.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Wow, there's some guy stuff happening here. Really impressive.
- 15:58Speaker 5: We did a job to stitch stitch this together. It's
- 16:01Speaker 5: I love that act effects.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Some say like an unnecessary amount of work, but you know,
- 16:09Speaker 2: we're here for the craft.
- 16:10Speaker 5: I got extra mics, I got extra special effects going on, and.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Incredible what we're going to make this happen.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Uh.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Well, we're so excited to have you both back. Yeah,
- 16:22Speaker 2: it's going to be so much fun to talk about
- 16:25Speaker 2: such a great movie. But first, let's talk about statement
- 16:27Speaker 2: boutique in the North Loop here in Minneapolis.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Melanie, this is your store.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Tell us about all the things we can find there.
- 16:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:36Speaker 4: So it's a women owned boutique. We support over twenty
- 16:41Speaker 4: local artists and a lot of give back companies, which
- 16:46Speaker 4: is awesome.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 4: We we have women's clothing, lots of gifty items, lots
- 16:54Speaker 4: of local jewelry. We are stacked right now for holiday.

- 17:17Speaker 4: take care of you.

- 17:26Speaker 4: Yeah, we're going to have lots of specials and like
- 17:28Speaker 4: funny events coming up for holidays.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Cool, yeah, amazing.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Are you guys going to be just swamped for Black Friday?
- 17:35Speaker 3: Is going to be nuts. It's gonna be crazy.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Black Friday, not typically small business Saturday.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yes, Okay, there you go, that small Business Saturday.
- 17:43Speaker 4: That's typically the biggest day of the year.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Nice, they should look before that then so they can
- 17:51Speaker 2: get what they want.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Yeah early, Yeah, that's the smart move that everybody does.
- 17:56Speaker 3: And yeah, for sure.
- 18:01Speaker 4: It's a super fun party that day. Like it's just
- 18:04Speaker 4: fun to see everybody and feel the love and support.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Yeah, read the stories about people being trampled in a
- 18:10Speaker 5: sears the day before.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, I've worked at a serious on Black Friday. Yeah,
- 18:16Speaker 2: back in college, it was crazy.
- 18:19Speaker 3: On that.
- 18:20Speaker 2: No one got no one got killed that I know of.
- 18:23Speaker 3: That's good, that is good.
- 18:25Speaker 2: But I tried to be sort of willful, willfully ignorant
- 18:27Speaker 2: of those kind of things.
- 18:28Speaker 5: So you know that happened. It was my department.
- 18:31Speaker 2: And yeah, the less you ask, the less you can
- 18:35Speaker 2: be depositioned, is what I always say.
- 18:38Speaker 3: You do always say that it's weird, it's strange.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Model your.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Tastefully along my lower back.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Beautiful script.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yes, I like to keep things pretty. There's not a
- 18:56Speaker 2: great segue here, so let's get in to talk about
- 18:59Speaker 2: this movie.
- 19:00Speaker 3: It's beteen hundred. Beautiful script. Beautiful script. That is a
- 19:03Speaker 3: good segue.
- 19:04Speaker 2: That would have been really good.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Yeah, damn it, you're good at things.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I didn't do that though, so we're just gonna have
- 19:10Speaker 2: rop go into the rough.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Synopsis. Sure, Yeah, The stars of a nineteen seventy sci
- 19:15Speaker 3: fi show now scraping a living through reruns and sci
- 19:19Speaker 3: fi conventions are beamed aboard in Alien Spacecraft. Believing the
- 19:24Speaker 3: cast heroic on screen dramas are historical documents of real
- 19:28Speaker 3: life adventures. The band of Aliens turned to the ailing
- 19:31Speaker 3: celebrities for help in their quest to overcome the oppressive
- 19:35Speaker 3: regime in their solar system.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Nice, nice, good job, good job.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear what they'd say.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Critics of this coming in at a rock solid.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Like that is hot. That is nuts. We just did Interstellar,
- 19:54Speaker 3: which I thought was a beloved film from critics. It
- 19:57Speaker 3: was like a seventy three and it's got a ninety.
- 20:00Speaker 3: I love it. I love that so much.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Incredible, incredible ninety. Audience members quite a bit below that, though,
- 20:08Speaker 2: which is also a little bit surprising at seventy nine percent.
- 20:11Speaker 4: Weird, That is surprising.
- 20:13Speaker 5: That's the weirdest thing. Yeah, because considering like the Flip,
- 20:16Speaker 5: like literally a cult.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Classic, well that's yeah, that's kind of what I thought, right,
- 20:20Speaker 2: which usually means it wasn't acclaimed, and then you know,
- 20:23Speaker 2: people grew to love it. Yeah, it is interesting. That's
- 20:26Speaker 2: a weird one, so topsy turvy world. And also I
- 20:29Speaker 2: don't know anything about their methodology, so it could be
- 20:32Speaker 2: completely bananas.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Every has got a bunch of like critic.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Yeah exactly, yeah exactly.
- 20:42Speaker 2: Let's hear what what these tomatoes have to say. It's
- 20:44Speaker 2: time for our hoti take. That's a hot take.
- 20:50Speaker 3: That's a hot take.
- 20:51Speaker 2: By grab Thar's hammer.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Oh it's hot, it's hot.
- 20:56Speaker 4: You shall be burned.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Yeah, you shall be burned, But you guys are good.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I will go first on this one. This is not
- 21:03Speaker 2: a movie that I watched a ton. I think this
- 21:06Speaker 2: is only the second time I've maybe ever seen it
- 21:08Speaker 2: in my life, which is weird because it seems like
- 21:11Speaker 2: it would be right up my alley. But I really,
- 21:14Speaker 2: I really enjoy it a great deal. I think it's
- 21:16Speaker 2: a it's a fun premise that really lends itself towards
- 21:20Speaker 2: that sort of like farcical you know, situation stuff where
- 21:24Speaker 2: we get all this weird comedy and then it turns
- 21:26Speaker 2: into like a really legitimately good sci fi film, which
- 21:30Speaker 2: I think is really fun and and just neat that
- 21:33Speaker 2: that's how they got there, to get it to do
- 21:36Speaker 2: all that stuff. I think the actors in it are
- 21:38Speaker 2: all super believable as as both like the heroes they become,
- 21:44Speaker 2: but also like the sort of nerds that they are
- 21:46Speaker 2: at the beginning and like, you know, just kind of
- 21:49Speaker 2: jilted actor kind of people that they are at the beginning,
- 21:53Speaker 2: which I think is super fun too. And yeah, I
- 21:56Speaker 2: don't really have a hot take for this one. I
- 21:58Speaker 2: just really enjoy it. I think it's a good time
- 22:00Speaker 2: and I love I love cult movies like this that
- 22:04Speaker 2: people just like get super super into because I.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Think they're really fun.
- 22:07Speaker 2: This would be a fun one to like watch in
- 22:09Speaker 2: a theater full of people. I feel like, yeah, yeah,
- 22:13Speaker 2: you know, kind of like the room or something.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Yeah, like a midnight showing or something. Yeah, that would
- 22:18Speaker 3: be super fun. Sort of.
- 22:19Speaker 5: It was like Quasi Treki, like just the total following
- 22:22Speaker 5: a hazard nerds.
- 22:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and it is weird because it's like, as as
- 22:26Speaker 2: much as I am a nerdy person, like, I never
- 22:29Speaker 2: really got into Star Trek or anything, like, I've never
- 22:32Speaker 2: seen any of the originals really, I've watched a few
- 22:35Speaker 2: of the movies, but just I missed that for some reason.
- 22:38Speaker 2: So I feel like I have to go back now
- 22:40Speaker 2: because I feel like this would be even better if
- 22:42Speaker 2: you were a big Star Trek fan and then we
- 22:44Speaker 2: got to watch this movie, you know. So my hot
- 22:47Speaker 2: take is I got to get on it. I got
- 22:49Speaker 2: to become a Treky.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Yep hot take, that's the hottest I got.
- 22:53Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, just a couple of decades behind, but just
- 22:56Speaker 5: a little bit.
- 22:56Speaker 3: Yes, it's okay. That's how I like to do it.
- 22:59Speaker 3: I have a very similar experience. I did not watch
- 23:04Speaker 3: this movie growing up. I completely missed it. I also
- 23:08Speaker 3: wasn't a big sci fi guy, so I thought this
- 23:10Speaker 3: was something like that and I just didn't watch. I
- 23:12Speaker 3: didn't know how funny it was. I know I would
- 23:15Speaker 3: have loved it back then, because I loved it the
- 23:18Speaker 3: first time I saw it, like seven years ago. Eight
- 23:21Speaker 3: years ago. A couple of guys in Home Free love
- 23:25Speaker 3: it and they were always quoting it, and so we
- 23:27Speaker 3: had like a bus movie night and it was so
- 23:31Speaker 3: much fun. This was directed by Dean Parasot or Paraso,
- 23:37Speaker 3: who has definitely directed some stuff, but I think this
- 23:40Speaker 3: is his best movie by quite a bit. His most
- 23:43Speaker 3: recent thing was The third Bill and Ted movie. That
- 23:48Speaker 3: was but it was not good.
- 23:51Speaker 2: That's not good.
- 23:53Speaker 3: But I really enjoyed the story. I love the plot.
- 23:58Speaker 3: I love the mistaken identity plot. And the first time
- 24:01Speaker 3: I saw it, I was like, this is three amigos
- 24:04Speaker 3: in space. This is hilarious.
- 24:07Speaker 2: That's a good cop.
- 24:08Speaker 5: I like that. It's very good.
- 24:10Speaker 3: It is completely the same. But I love the parody
- 24:13Speaker 3: of Star Trek. And I also love that the reason
- 24:17Speaker 3: they're able to succeed in their mission was because the
- 24:22Speaker 3: fans knew so much about the show. I love I
- 24:26Speaker 3: love that so much. Like you said, the cast is great.
- 24:30Speaker 3: So many great actors in this, even in pretty small roles.
- 24:35Speaker 5: The biggest views.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Yeah for sure. Yeah, who was it? Rain Wilson and
- 24:41Speaker 3: Justin lost and Justin was like a pretty serious yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 3: It was both of their first roles, first debuts. Well
- 24:52Speaker 3: it's redundant. But my hottest take, I cannot believe that
- 24:59Speaker 3: they hept in the over dubbed swears like I thought.
- 25:04Speaker 3: I thought it was a version exactly. I watched mine
- 25:08Speaker 3: on Paramount Plus and I was like, oh, maybe they
- 25:11Speaker 3: just censored it, And then I saw in the trivia
- 25:15Speaker 3: that they kept that, like in the theatrical version. Yep,
- 25:18Speaker 3: that is crazy.
- 25:20Speaker 4: I love because it always gets a huge laugh.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Yeah, because you know it's clearly saying the F bomb,
- 25:29Speaker 3: and it's like that will screw that, and you're just
- 25:32Speaker 3: like what am I am? I watching?
- 25:34Speaker 4: Like you guys didn't even try to hide that, which
- 25:42Speaker 4: is quite.
- 25:43Speaker 5: Literally the truth interviews and stuff, but they talk about
- 25:47Speaker 5: they just didn't shoot for coverage because they were filming
- 25:49Speaker 5: like a slightly different movie and so they were just like, no,
- 25:52Speaker 5: this is this is going to be the take because
- 25:54Speaker 5: it's hilarious.
- 25:55Speaker 3: It is. Yeah, I couldn't believe that though. Yeah, that
- 26:00Speaker 3: I don't have anything groundbreaking either. I thought it was
- 26:02Speaker 3: a lot of fun and I had a great time
- 26:04Speaker 3: rewatching nice hot take.
- 26:07Speaker 5: That's a lovely hot take. It's like a slipping in
- 26:11Speaker 5: a hot bath hot take.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Let's heat it up a little bit. Who's next?
- 26:15Speaker 4: So I did grow up watching this nice. My father
- 26:23Speaker 4: was one of the original trukkies.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Yes, he.
- 26:28Speaker 4: Uh, hand constructed like a communicator, a phaser, uh, a
- 26:34Speaker 4: little I want to call it camcorder, A little thing
- 26:37Speaker 4: that's podcast, thank you? Oh yeah, like handmade, would like
- 26:43Speaker 4: a little plastic pieces painted, So I think It was
- 26:46Speaker 4: my aunt that put us onto this. We had like
- 26:48Speaker 4: a family movie night one night, and we fell in
- 26:52Speaker 4: love immediately. It became a family classic that we would
- 26:55Speaker 4: have to watch regularly. So I think for me, I mean,
- 27:01Speaker 4: it's been described as a love letter to all of
- 27:05Speaker 4: the sci fi fans and it is per is and
- 27:12Speaker 4: I think it is probably one of my favorite movies.
- 27:17Speaker 3: I would love it.
- 27:19Speaker 4: And it is really so. We haven't watched it in
- 27:21Speaker 4: a while, so having to watch it for this was like,
- 27:27Speaker 4: oh my god, I love this movie.
- 27:32Speaker 2: So it's so fun, right, like, yeah, just slightly more
- 27:35Speaker 2: critically or something, but then you.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Like, it's always a sign of a really good movie
- 27:41Speaker 4: for me is when a scene starts and I'm like,
- 27:44Speaker 4: oh my god, I love the scene, and then the
- 27:45Speaker 4: next oh my god, I love the scene. It's just
- 27:48Speaker 4: like that's the whole movie for me is oh my god,
- 27:52Speaker 4: I love this scene.
- 27:54Speaker 3: That's awesome. Yeah.
- 27:57Speaker 5: The pen was going furiously while we were going through stuff.
- 28:00Speaker 4: I know, we we typically we like to if we're
- 28:03Speaker 4: doing this, we like to watch things separately because our brains.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Our brains just tend to tickle each other or like
- 28:09Speaker 4: we can tell when the other one's writing like we
- 28:10Speaker 4: know what the other one is doing.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Stop it. Oh yeah.
- 28:14Speaker 5: We both went to do a quotere like I'm at
- 28:15Speaker 5: my computer and she's writing stuff down. We both like.
- 28:22Speaker 4: So for time. For time's sake, we did have to
- 28:24Speaker 4: watch this one together, so we tried to not discuss
- 28:26Speaker 4: it as much as possible.
- 28:29Speaker 2: I get that Rob and I have that discussion every week.
- 28:31Speaker 2: We're like, we'll save it for about that. I guess
- 28:35Speaker 2: let's wait until we can be friends on the pod.
- 28:39Speaker 5: I can't be friends outside Special Hour and a half.
- 28:43Speaker 3: All for the people.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Nice.
- 28:46Speaker 5: Yeah, hot take, I love it, no notes like it's
- 28:53Speaker 5: my hot take. I grew up watching it. I don't
- 28:56Speaker 5: remember if it was my brother who brought it home
- 28:58Speaker 5: to us or what. But it became a yearly watch
- 29:04Speaker 5: we have incorporated, like we have a list of movies
- 29:06Speaker 5: that we watch every single year that we know, like,
- 29:08Speaker 5: all right, this season is when we're going to watch this.
- 29:10Speaker 5: And Galaxy Quest is just one of those ones that
- 29:13Speaker 5: it fits in anywhere, and it's just like, let's laugh
- 29:17Speaker 5: our butts off in goo'es Galaxy Quest because it's just
- 29:24Speaker 5: I'm gonna jump ahead a little bit. But David Mammot,
- 29:28Speaker 5: the playwright author Everything, wrote that there was four perfect
- 29:32Speaker 5: movies in Hollywood, and he listed this as one of them.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Wow. Wow, that's amazing.
- 29:38Speaker 5: That's incredible, And I think, like I heard that quote recently.
- 29:42Speaker 5: I read it on something. I was like, yeah, he
- 29:44Speaker 5: might be right, it's it is wild. I do view
- 29:48Speaker 5: this as one of my like, at least top three
- 29:51Speaker 5: favorite films of all time.
- 29:52Speaker 4: We have not we actually haven't talked about this, but
- 29:55Speaker 4: I actually think this was one of the things we
- 29:58Speaker 4: bonded over one of the times we talked for a
- 30:02Speaker 4: really long time.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Maybe I think.
- 30:04Speaker 4: We found we had our families loved Young Frankenstein, Yeah,
- 30:09Speaker 4: and Galaxy Quest two regular watch movies.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Hell yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 6: It was kind of like, what, that's awesome, that's cute.
- 30:26Speaker 4: A movie brought us together.
- 30:30Speaker 5: Gross and then the yelling at writing down lines broken heart,
- 30:40Speaker 5: that's just how it happens.
- 30:41Speaker 3: That's awesome, you guys. I'm so glad you guys are
- 30:43Speaker 3: here for this movie. That's awesome too.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's fantastic. Well, some hot takes. Let's go. Let's
- 30:49Speaker 2: go on and talk about our favorite acting performance.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Shall we name the the ude?
- 30:54Speaker 7: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 30:57Speaker 7: know that, or dudeness or duder or you know, eldudo reno.
- 31:04Speaker 7: If you're not into the whole brevity thing one, if.
- 31:06Speaker 2: You should start feels worse.
- 31:10Speaker 4: Sure, I so it was. It's it's tricky because I
- 31:14Speaker 4: think every time I watch this, I have a different favorite,
- 31:18Speaker 4: a favorite character. So I think I just had to
- 31:23Speaker 4: pick Enrico Calatoni math Bazar.
- 31:27Speaker 3: He's so good. He's so really good.
- 31:32Speaker 4: And this is kind of tying in to my next
- 31:35Speaker 4: for the Tucci. But there's like two people in this
- 31:38Speaker 4: movie that I cannot take my eyes off of when
- 31:41Speaker 4: they're on screen, and he's one of them. And I
- 31:44Speaker 4: think just with his dynamic performance as one of the
- 31:49Speaker 4: Thermians and just kind of establishing how weird and quirky
- 31:52Speaker 4: and funky they are. So he's so believable, Like he's
- 31:59Speaker 4: so weird but so believable that he grounds it in
- 32:02Speaker 4: a way that I don't know if anyone else could have.
- 32:05Speaker 3: That's great. I love that.
- 32:09Speaker 2: Yeah, he was unus shoot me right, that's the yeah, yes,
- 32:11Speaker 2: that dude, Yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 5: Yeah, two sitcom actors that like transition to this film
- 32:17Speaker 5: happening so fun.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I will hardly agree.
- 32:21Speaker 5: That's how I picked as well, Like, it's so weird
- 32:24Speaker 5: putting him on there because it doesn't like, it doesn't
- 32:26Speaker 5: feel like he's one of the leads. But yeah, for
- 32:31Speaker 5: acting performances, for like character development, for journey and growth,
- 32:35Speaker 5: Like I've got a couple of moments with him that
- 32:39Speaker 5: like make me tear up and some stuff that he
- 32:42Speaker 5: chooses to do that makes me just laugh uproariously, And
- 32:47Speaker 5: I think it's it's almost a perfect cast. Yeah, people,
- 32:53Speaker 5: So it is kind of hard to pick like the
- 32:55Speaker 5: best performance out of like a group of perfect performances.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I know it's such an ensemble cast.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it's unreal, but I think he definitely stands
- 33:03Speaker 5: out as like this was such a bold choice, This
- 33:06Speaker 5: was such a crazy thing to do, and it works
- 33:10Speaker 5: so perfectly across the board.
- 33:12Speaker 3: Wow, you guys, I love that. I want to switch
- 33:16Speaker 3: my answer you guys, maybe because I totally agree with you.
- 33:21Speaker 3: I put down Sam Rockwell as a guy fleegman. Hell yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 3: he got his last name his last name. Yeah, but
- 33:29Speaker 3: I just loved that bit so much, just being and
- 33:32Speaker 3: crewman number six. He knows he's expendable, like so scared,
- 33:36Speaker 3: he's gonna be the first one. Like all of that
- 33:40Speaker 3: was killing me. Yeah, and in a uh an ensemble
- 33:46Speaker 3: where everybody's so good. I just had such a hard
- 33:49Speaker 3: time picking my favorite. But I think that that's my
- 33:51Speaker 3: favorite character, so.
- 33:55Speaker 4: That totally fair.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely, that's a good one.
- 33:58Speaker 3: Nice.
- 33:59Speaker 2: I picked out Rickman for this one too.
- 34:03Speaker 4: There is no bad answer.
- 34:05Speaker 2: He just cracks me up because I feel like this
- 34:08Speaker 2: is I don't even think this is how he is
- 34:11Speaker 2: in real life, but this is how I picture him
- 34:12Speaker 2: in real life, you know, where he's just like this
- 34:14Speaker 2: very serious man, you know, who's like has all these things. Uh,
- 34:19Speaker 2: and he's just the best. And like his line readings
- 34:23Speaker 2: will come up later. But the one where they're at
- 34:25Speaker 2: like they're opening the store or whatever.
- 34:27Speaker 3: They're doing, it is so funny.
- 34:30Speaker 2: He's just so dejected, so funny to like he hates
- 34:35Speaker 2: it so much, it's so great and to see him
- 34:39Speaker 2: get to like he kind of embraces it by the
- 34:41Speaker 2: end obviously, and you know all the things. I just like,
- 34:44Speaker 2: that's really fun.
- 34:45Speaker 5: He's got the most like heart wrenching scenes, yes, yes,
- 34:49Speaker 5: like just so brilliant.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Yeah, And I love him anyway everything so much.
- 34:57Speaker 3: I miss him.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Yeah, and this was this was prere Potter, right, so
- 35:01Speaker 5: like crazy only really bomb is like like either the
- 35:04Speaker 5: diehard villain or like, well.
- 35:06Speaker 4: He was such a serious stage actor. I think that
- 35:09Speaker 4: was such a brilliant stroke bringing in such a serious
- 35:12Speaker 4: actor for a comedic role. It was perfect, Like his
- 35:17Speaker 4: his dynamic worked so well with everyone else's dynamic is
- 35:20Speaker 4: so different.
- 35:22Speaker 2: I bet he had so much fun doing it too,
- 35:24Speaker 2: Like this seems like the type of part that would
- 35:26Speaker 2: just be a blast, right, like, oh yeah, fun.
- 35:30Speaker 5: Yeah, there's a oh god, I'm pulling so much from
- 35:36Speaker 5: a thing I'm gonna mention later. But he when he
- 35:39Speaker 5: left on his last day, he was hugging i think
- 35:41Speaker 5: one of the executive producers and she said, it was
- 35:43Speaker 5: so nice meet and you so lovely having you on set,
- 35:45Speaker 5: and he hugged her and while he was hugging her,
- 35:48Speaker 5: he said, this was a lot of fun. And as
- 35:50Speaker 5: he departs, he goes intermittently. I feel like that's just
- 35:58Speaker 5: the perfect Like that was that tracks that was Alexander
- 36:05Speaker 5: Dane so sassy.
- 36:07Speaker 2: That's so great.
- 36:09Speaker 3: I love that.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Well nice. I feel like this lends nicely into the
- 36:13Speaker 2: next one because there's a huge cast, so let's name the.
- 36:20Speaker 5: One of the few times you guys had to do
- 36:21Speaker 5: the dudes.
- 36:22Speaker 3: The dudes.
- 36:25Speaker 2: That's fun though. I like it and it's such an
- 36:27Speaker 2: ensemble movie, right, but it's yeah, sorry, Okay.
- 36:33Speaker 5: So.
- 36:35Speaker 4: I have to give a shout out to the movement coach.
- 36:42Speaker 3: That's fun. I've never heard that answer.
- 36:44Speaker 4: For helping develop the Thermians and how they move because
- 36:51Speaker 4: on it again, I feel like that helps make the
- 36:54Speaker 4: movie because it's so weird, so weird, so weird. But no,
- 37:01Speaker 4: I did pick. I picked Sam rockwell, okay, kind of
- 37:06Speaker 4: going back and forth because he's the other person that
- 37:08Speaker 4: if he is on screen, I cannot take my eyes
- 37:12Speaker 4: off to him.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Get that.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Yeah, literally everything he did. When we were watching it
- 37:17Speaker 4: last night, I was like, oh my god, it's so good.
- 37:19Speaker 4: I just want to talk to you about it, Dave.
- 37:23Speaker 4: I just want to talk to you about it, but
- 37:26Speaker 4: we're not talking about it right now.
- 37:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 5: Yeah, he was incredible.
- 37:35Speaker 4: But yes, any anything he does is hysterical. So yeah, that's.
- 37:38Speaker 3: Why I totally get that. He had this and The
- 37:43Speaker 3: Green Mile same year, and that was the first time
- 37:47Speaker 3: I really noticed him was in The Green Mile, because
- 37:49Speaker 3: I didn't this and I was just like he's incredible.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Well they're just teenage me and Ninja Turtles of.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Course, of course that yes, yeppy, yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 4: We We also watched the making of Guardians of the Galaxy.
- 38:06Speaker 3: I did, I didn't. I did it.
- 38:10Speaker 4: Anyways, the making of Galaxy Quests. It was a documentary
- 38:14Speaker 4: that they that they made.
- 38:16Speaker 5: Oh fun, that's where a lot of my nerd stuff
- 38:18Speaker 5: is getting that. It's called Never Surrender.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Perfect.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Check that out. That great to watch.
- 38:26Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, I will totally watch that.
- 38:30Speaker 4: Apparently Sam Rockwell kept turning it down, but the casting
- 38:34Speaker 4: director kept hounding him, and then he was like, well,
- 38:37Speaker 4: I do have The Green Mile coming out, so this
- 38:39Speaker 4: would be a good juxtaposition.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Turning down this movie.
- 38:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's wild shocked because.
- 38:46Speaker 3: He wasn't like a like a household name or anything
- 38:49Speaker 3: doing big stuff. Was he?
- 38:50Speaker 5: No, I don't think so.
- 38:52Speaker 4: The list he said to himself, He's like, I was
- 38:55Speaker 4: probably taking myself too seriously.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Sure, because he's perfect in this.
- 39:00Speaker 5: Yeah, it's insane that he played that part.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Yeah nice, yep, love that pick, Dave, what do you got?
- 39:08Speaker 5: I I had Sam Rockwell. I also put to mister
- 39:11Speaker 5: shaloub Tony shalub On to so wonderful, so incredible. They
- 39:20Speaker 5: again in the documentary, like they're talking about casting and
- 39:22Speaker 5: and and they mentioned him and they just when we
- 39:24Speaker 5: watch him such as like a perfect silent comedian, and
- 39:27Speaker 5: then referenced him being like chaplain esque and as like
- 39:32Speaker 5: one hundred percent because he's so so few lines and
- 39:36Speaker 5: yet every scene that he's in he's doing something, he's
- 39:39Speaker 5: engaged with, something looks stoned to the Jesus and is
- 39:45Speaker 5: absolutely hysterical. One of my favorite, like one of the
- 39:48Speaker 5: things I listed is my favorite scene is because like
- 39:50Speaker 5: he I don't think he's got a line in it,
- 39:52Speaker 5: but his engagement in the moment is so absolutely perfect.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:59Speaker 5: Then when Jenny says like there are people on screen
- 40:01Speaker 5: that you just can't take her eyes off off, I'm
- 40:03Speaker 5: constantly watching Tony Shaloub just to see what weird stuff
- 40:06Speaker 5: you're gonna do.
- 40:07Speaker 3: That's awesome. Yeah, this was I love Tony Shaloub, and
- 40:12Speaker 3: I feel like every time I see him, he plays
- 40:14Speaker 3: this uptight like just completely opposite of this. So it's
- 40:20Speaker 3: so fun to see him just be so calm and
- 40:23Speaker 3: just like just like well whatever, Yeah.
- 40:27Speaker 4: You know, I actually helped him at my old job
- 40:31Speaker 4: in La.
- 40:34Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 40:35Speaker 4: I don't know if he's a method actor, but he
- 40:38Speaker 4: did seem very monk like okay when he was kind
- 40:42Speaker 4: of stressing about his coffee maker, So that's kind of mine. Yeah,
- 40:50Speaker 4: stories like Oh, I was like, oh, buddy, it's gonna
- 40:53Speaker 4: be okay.
- 40:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:56Speaker 3: I picture him as his role in Marvelous Missus Maisel,
- 40:59Speaker 3: where he just it's so upset about everything and a
- 41:02Speaker 3: certain way. Yes, that's so funny with the accent.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Oh, I love working a long time.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Good for him.
- 41:12Speaker 5: Hello, really a career.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Me too, dude. I want to watch Wings like Dan.
- 41:16Speaker 2: I wonder if it's anything.
- 41:17Speaker 3: I loved Wings. I got him daily at the Guthrie
- 41:24Speaker 3: about my head almost exploded. I was so excited to
- 41:28Speaker 3: meet him. That's fun.
- 41:31Speaker 5: Yeah, everyone's doing a rewatch podcast. You guys could launch
- 41:33Speaker 5: a sister podcast.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Yeah, Wings my toucci.
- 41:41Speaker 3: I'm I would have said Alan Rickman. Then I would
- 41:43Speaker 3: have said Enrico Colon Toni. Then I would have said
- 41:46Speaker 3: Tony Shaloub. So I agree with all of you guys.
- 41:49Speaker 3: They're all incredible. The next one I put down with
- 41:51Speaker 3: Sigourney Weaver, and she's great in this.
- 41:54Speaker 5: She's more incredible.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Wonderful. I went back and looked she was fifty years
- 42:00Speaker 3: old and looks incredible in that thing. It just it
- 42:05Speaker 3: was great. Wow, way to go. Wow.
- 42:08Speaker 2: I actually hate that.
- 42:11Speaker 5: I'm angry, angry how good she looks years old?
- 42:15Speaker 3: Yeah, but you know, she and have like it was.
- 42:18Speaker 3: She was great in it. It just was kind of
- 42:21Speaker 3: not a huge role for her, yeah.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Which is also like part of the role a little bit, right, right, Yeah, And.
- 42:28Speaker 4: I feel like I'm sure she was jazz because it
- 42:30Speaker 4: was so different from Ripley.
- 42:33Speaker 3: Right yeah. Yeah.
- 42:34Speaker 5: Well, and another person that almost wasn't in it because
- 42:37Speaker 5: when they put the casting out it was we don't
- 42:38Speaker 5: want anyone connected to sci fi shed.
- 42:43Speaker 4: She's like, why, I know it better than anyone.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:48Speaker 5: So she had to kind of fight to get cast
- 42:50Speaker 5: in this movie, which is insane. Shot Sigourney Weaver, Yeah,
- 42:53Speaker 5: knocking down your door, Like why wouldn't you cast?
- 42:56Speaker 2: That's crazy?
- 42:57Speaker 3: Yeah, Sigourney Weaver is desperately trying to get in it,
- 42:59Speaker 3: and A Rock was like, I don't want to be
- 43:01Speaker 3: in it. I haven't been in anything big yet, but
- 43:04Speaker 3: I can't do it.
- 43:05Speaker 2: That's weird.
- 43:06Speaker 3: What do we have in this movie? Right? That's funny, crazy.
- 43:11Speaker 3: When do you have ah.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Boy, I got lost, I lost in my I had
- 43:18Speaker 2: a number of people you guys said, but I feel
- 43:20Speaker 2: like I'm gonna say Tim Allen here because we have.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Him, so I feel like I have to we should
- 43:26Speaker 3: say Tim l And I don't think it's.
- 43:28Speaker 2: I don't think any of us are like holding anything
- 43:30Speaker 2: against him. I think it's just one of those kind
- 43:32Speaker 2: of givens. He's really funny, he's really like he's super
- 43:37Speaker 2: I don't know, it just seems like a normal dude
- 43:40Speaker 2: who's very charismatic, really funny. I bet he had a
- 43:44Speaker 2: great time doing this because he's basically doing like buzz
- 43:47Speaker 2: light Year after Dark kind of stuff, you know what
- 43:50Speaker 2: I mean, like a little bit right, and he'd already
- 43:52Speaker 2: been buzz light Year at that point, so he could
- 43:55Speaker 2: be kind of the like sleazy Shatner buzz Lightyear character.
- 44:00Speaker 2: And I think he's just always really good when he's
- 44:03Speaker 2: in stuff. Like maybe he couldn't do like a dramatic
- 44:07Speaker 2: role necessarily, but also he doesn't have to. He's so
- 44:11Speaker 2: I just love him. I just think he's like really
- 44:14Speaker 2: magnetic on screen and just really like effortlessly funny too,
- 44:18Speaker 2: you know, he's snied at times, but he's also can
- 44:21Speaker 2: be heartfelt a little bit at least, and then you know,
- 44:24Speaker 2: like and like can be a jerk without you hating him,
- 44:28Speaker 2: you know, like it's just kind of like razzing. I
- 44:31Speaker 2: don't know, so I'll pick him.
- 44:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I did. I did kind of write him down
- 44:35Speaker 4: for the dude, like just a shout out to Tim.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Allen that I forget too.
- 44:41Speaker 3: He does.
- 44:41Speaker 4: He does have such a good, like every man like
- 44:44Speaker 4: just likability, and it does again ground the story with
- 44:48Speaker 4: his dynamic with everyone else's, but also the way that
- 44:52Speaker 4: his drama chops do come through during the confession scene
- 44:58Speaker 4: when he's confessing to mouths art Yes, I think is
- 45:02Speaker 4: amazing and it's a side that we don't really get
- 45:04Speaker 4: to see of him very much. I really enjoyed it.
- 45:08Speaker 5: Yep, for sure.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Nice And then if I had a runner up, I
- 45:13Speaker 2: would Darryl Mitchell. I really like. He's also intent things
- 45:18Speaker 2: I hate about you, which is probably why I love
- 45:20Speaker 2: him so much. But he's just really funny. He's Tommy
- 45:23Speaker 2: Webber in this, and he also doesn't get to do
- 45:26Speaker 2: a lot in it, but his parts are really funny.
- 45:29Speaker 2: I think, I really enjoyed him. I also felt like
- 45:32Speaker 2: he was chewing up some scenery when he didn't have
- 45:34Speaker 2: lines and stuff right, like in a fun way.
- 45:36Speaker 3: You know.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I do appreciate that. I feel like everyone in
- 45:42Speaker 4: this movie has their moment.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Yes, agreed, you know, yeah totally, and Justin I feel
- 45:52Speaker 3: definitely has his moment. I'm shocked his debut that is wild.
- 45:57Speaker 3: I also just he just seems like he's not old
- 46:00Speaker 3: enough to be in this movie like that that was
- 46:03Speaker 3: twenty five years ago. He just he's got this baby face.
- 46:06Speaker 4: Yes he doesn't want it, but he did this.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Okay cool? Yeah, wow, Yeah that's what I mean.
- 46:11Speaker 5: Yep, Yeah, he just doesn't Yeah, him and Paul Rudd,
- 46:13Speaker 5: you can put him next to each other. And I
- 46:14Speaker 5: think he found the fountain. It's crazy to those two
- 46:17Speaker 5: hugging would form the singularity that is the fountain of
- 46:19Speaker 5: you stupid.
- 46:21Speaker 3: I like that. But he was really funny. He plays
- 46:24Speaker 3: the nerd perfectly.
- 46:26Speaker 5: It was yeah, beyond good. Yeah, just the like and
- 46:30Speaker 5: they almost cut his part out, Yeah, they were talks of.
- 46:33Speaker 4: But the whole side storyline.
- 46:36Speaker 3: Wow, he's such a big part of the end, like
- 46:41Speaker 3: a huge part of it.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Yeah, like kind of the whole reason for the movie.
- 46:46Speaker 4: Yeah, brings in the fans like they're basically us in
- 46:51Speaker 4: the movie.
- 46:52Speaker 2: Yeah right, that's shocking.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Well I'm glad they didn't do that same. Yeah there,
- 46:59Speaker 3: it was fun seeing me see Pile in this. She's
- 47:03Speaker 3: always funny and great. And Rain Wilson as well. That
- 47:07Speaker 3: seems yes, translator is broken, so good.
- 47:14Speaker 4: So perfect, says kids just wetting ourselves.
- 47:20Speaker 5: Yeah, she just she took what Enrico did and just
- 47:24Speaker 5: absolutely ran with it. Ye oh, this is what this
- 47:27Speaker 5: character is, got it, Nail, I'm on board.
- 47:32Speaker 4: Tickled me pink, and especially to see like the one
- 47:36Speaker 4: girl Thermion of like, yes, it's okay to be weird,
- 47:41Speaker 4: it's okay.
- 47:44Speaker 2: I love the scene where they're making out and the
- 47:46Speaker 2: tentacle comes up and he's just like he's just into it.
- 47:51Speaker 2: He's like, yeah, I'm okay with this. I can this
- 47:54Speaker 2: is a life I can live.
- 47:55Speaker 3: I'm okay.
- 47:56Speaker 4: And of course Sam Rockwell reacting to it, so.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Yeah, oh no, that's not right, that's not it's good.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Also, Susan from Seinfeld is in this. Just ba who
- 48:12Speaker 2: that was Justin Long's mom. Justin Sweatburg is her name.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Oh, I was trying to figure it out, and I
- 48:22Speaker 3: mean I didn't. All I had to do was go
- 48:24Speaker 3: to MDB and click on her credits. I did not
- 48:26Speaker 3: do that, but she for like twelve seconds though.
- 48:29Speaker 5: Yeah, and she's like she's responsible for one of the
- 48:32Speaker 5: greatest comedic cutaways. Yes ever, yeah, and that like that
- 48:38Speaker 5: taking out the garbage thing is like, oh so funny, right,
- 48:42Speaker 5: oh so perfect.
- 48:43Speaker 4: Speaking of looking young, she looks like she's like thirteen.
- 48:46Speaker 3: She did, she did look very young.
- 48:48Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, agreed.
- 48:51Speaker 3: Well I didn't have anybody else, did do you guys
- 48:53Speaker 3: want to.
- 48:54Speaker 2: There's a lot more people, but yeah, it's a big cast.
- 48:58Speaker 3: Yeah, well everyone, everybody.
- 49:02Speaker 5: It's perfect.
- 49:03Speaker 3: Everyone gets it too. Chea. Let's let's move on to
- 49:06Speaker 3: our favorite scene. Let's let's choose the dings. The dingus
- 49:11Speaker 3: is quite simple, really ingusus.
- 49:14Speaker 1: I could talk about my dingas all night long.
- 49:15Speaker 2: I'm gon.
- 49:19Speaker 4: Very for you guys, super tough. So I just put
- 49:23Speaker 4: the ones that I always look forward to the most.
- 49:27Speaker 4: The first one I put was the scream from from
- 49:30Speaker 4: Guy examination scene, Like still, how many times has it
- 49:41Speaker 4: been where we've watched it?
- 49:42Speaker 8: And I'm just always like, it's so beautiful too, because
- 49:48Speaker 8: that is absolutely how you would respond, right.
- 49:53Speaker 4: And then I put the before they're landing the shuttle,
- 49:58Speaker 4: before that scene in the shuttle, yes, yes, where Sam
- 50:05Speaker 4: Rockwall's losing his mind? Is there air you know?
- 50:13Speaker 3: You don't know? Yeah, the voice of reason.
- 50:18Speaker 4: But of course, like I think this might be my top,
- 50:20Speaker 4: but the confession scene with Tim Allen and mouths are
- 50:23Speaker 4: I think that probably is gonna be my my final pick.
- 50:27Speaker 3: It's wonderful, yeah, because it's so it's a good scene.
- 50:31Speaker 4: I mean they and they earned that scene. They really
- 50:35Speaker 4: really earned it with just how kind of silly and
- 50:38Speaker 4: zany a lot of the movie was, but they still
- 50:40Speaker 4: were able to carry the undertones of seriousness, like you
- 50:43Speaker 4: you felt the steaks, and then that scene just kind
- 50:47Speaker 4: of pulled it together and you're like, this is a
- 50:49Speaker 4: special movie.
- 50:52Speaker 3: Yep.
- 50:52Speaker 5: And then again in Rico his performance and that thought, why.
- 50:58Speaker 3: Yeah just wise.
- 51:00Speaker 9: Yeah, yes, I also had I had the examination, like
- 51:09Speaker 9: from the from the minute they popped through on the
- 51:11Speaker 9: space ship when Tony Shaloub and Tim Allen.
- 51:14Speaker 5: What's wrong with them? I don't know, let's go just
- 51:19Speaker 5: the reactions from everybody's perfect. I think the first time,
- 51:23Speaker 5: like that scene when they're on the elevator and the
- 51:24Speaker 5: first time they see the ship and that reveal like
- 51:28Speaker 5: from the music, the special effects to everyone's reaction is
- 51:32Speaker 5: perfect filmmaking in my opinion. The going to the planet
- 51:37Speaker 5: scene in the in the shuttle, that's one that like
- 51:41Speaker 5: Shaloub is just he's eating the entire time, like and
- 51:45Speaker 5: like just what that's like just happy to be along, just.
- 51:49Speaker 2: Like chicky Nugs or something like it's.
- 51:53Speaker 5: Got endless supply in that brown bag. It's It's perfect.
- 51:58Speaker 4: It's the commitment. Everyone is so committed to their role.
- 52:02Speaker 5: Yeah, I put I think for for surprise and even
- 52:07Speaker 5: for performance, even though there's no line spoken, it's when
- 52:10Speaker 5: the rock Monster is transported to the ship. Yes, and
- 52:14Speaker 5: that like they're playing the cards and at that instant
- 52:16Speaker 5: when it appears and that pan uh, like it is hysterical,
- 52:22Speaker 5: Like I lose my mind every single time that that
- 52:24Speaker 5: comes up.
- 52:25Speaker 4: I'm giggling like kind of like the.
- 52:29Speaker 5: Monitor everything's getting torn apart.
- 52:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I feel like we could have had like a
- 52:33Speaker 2: wily coyote sign that's just like uh you know, just
- 52:38Speaker 2: like yep.
- 52:40Speaker 3: Not have been perfect.
- 52:42Speaker 5: Yeah, for for for scenes in a comedy movie, that's
- 52:45Speaker 5: the movie like that's the scene that just I lose
- 52:48Speaker 5: my mind love it.
- 52:49Speaker 3: Yep. Oh man. A lot of those written down as well,
- 52:53Speaker 3: especially the beaming up scene. I thought that was hilarious
- 52:57Speaker 3: as well. Oh my god, the one that I wrote
- 53:00Speaker 3: don't because it was tough to pick a favorite, but
- 53:03Speaker 3: the one I wrote down it I do love. When
- 53:06Speaker 3: Tommy Webber is asked to take us out and he's
- 53:09Speaker 3: supposed to drive this ship. He's just like, he's like,
- 53:15Speaker 3: it's good. And then you see it just slowly going
- 53:19Speaker 3: to the left and everybody's like listing. They're all trying
- 53:24Speaker 3: to steer with their necks. Oh that is good. Like
- 53:29Speaker 3: that so funny.
- 53:32Speaker 5: And the perfect special like sound effect, Yes, like scraping
- 53:37Speaker 5: going inside that ship. Yeah, so great music.
- 53:43Speaker 4: Yes that they took.
- 53:46Speaker 2: That felt very like airplane naked gun to that style
- 53:51Speaker 2: of humor.
- 53:52Speaker 5: Right, it's just this is sitting in it.
- 53:58Speaker 3: I was into it big time, like.
- 54:02Speaker 5: Rockwell trying to set drive.
- 54:07Speaker 2: You're gonna go that way?
- 54:12Speaker 3: I love that.
- 54:13Speaker 2: That's great. The I mean you guys upset all the ones,
- 54:17Speaker 2: but the one that really got me this time when
- 54:21Speaker 2: they beam up the alien animal and it's like inside out.
- 54:25Speaker 3: I was crying laughing.
- 54:28Speaker 2: It was so funny. I don't know why that got
- 54:30Speaker 2: me so good this time, but it was like the
- 54:33Speaker 2: lead up to it and like we better test it
- 54:36Speaker 2: out and you know all that it's just oh man,
- 54:38Speaker 2: it was so funny.
- 54:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel for the pike, but you know it
- 54:43Speaker 3: was so funny.
- 54:44Speaker 4: It's inside out and it exploded just the perfect They
- 54:51Speaker 4: must have been just dancing in their seats watching this take,
- 54:55Speaker 4: but with like the little chunk of skin. Yes, I
- 54:58Speaker 4: was like stuck on Sigourney Weavers like hand and just
- 55:03Speaker 4: to flop it off.
- 55:04Speaker 3: Yeah, they all left all of that on them for
- 55:08Speaker 3: so long, like they all had the remnants of this
- 55:12Speaker 3: alien pig.
- 55:15Speaker 2: That was so funny though, was so perfect.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Yes reaction.
- 55:21Speaker 5: The thing with the I.
- 55:29Speaker 3: The only serious one that I had written down was
- 55:32Speaker 3: the when Alan Rickman has to say the line for real.
- 55:36Speaker 3: That was That was a scene one caught me off guard. Yeah,
- 55:43Speaker 3: pulled up the heartstrings pretty good and.
- 55:46Speaker 5: Again such a great like. I think one of the
- 55:48Speaker 5: tough parts about like scene is they all blend together
- 55:51Speaker 5: so perfectly. Hard to say like this is where it
- 55:53Speaker 5: ends and this is where it begins, but like that,
- 55:55Speaker 5: even that lead up of the joke like leading you
- 55:59Speaker 5: in that is like, oh, he's looking for his accolades,
- 56:01Speaker 5: and then you know, Commander Taggar has saved us in
- 56:04Speaker 5: this great laugh right as he's dejected and into this
- 56:08Speaker 5: beautiful heart wrenching scene. That's I don't know again. It's
- 56:13Speaker 5: it's why I listed as one of the perfect films.
- 56:15Speaker 5: It's because it can so perfectly go between those moments.
- 56:18Speaker 2: And such great like character development for him to be
- 56:20Speaker 2: like it doesn't matter if I believe it or not,
- 56:22Speaker 2: like it's real to this person, you know, I don't know,
- 56:25Speaker 2: Like yeah, which makes it real. I love that stuff.
- 56:28Speaker 5: I think that's cool again, going back to the heart
- 56:30Speaker 5: of like this movie is really for the fans.
- 56:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and yeah totally, and.
- 56:35Speaker 5: Like that belief of the actor finally understanding that like
- 56:38Speaker 5: oh it matters to somebody. Yeah, just a brilliant moment.
- 56:43Speaker 3: Yeah, agreed.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it makes me think of like the Harry Potter thing,
- 56:47Speaker 2: but like, of course it's all happening in your head,
- 56:49Speaker 2: But why wouldn't that mean it's real?
- 56:51Speaker 3: You know? Like that's so fun, right, Like I don't
- 56:54Speaker 3: know that.
- 56:55Speaker 5: It's a nice Harry Potter ty in tune. Yeah, yeah,
- 56:59Speaker 5: bring it all together.
- 57:01Speaker 2: I don't know what we should pick for the favorite, though.
- 57:03Speaker 3: It's tough. It's so hard. You guys adore this movie,
- 57:07Speaker 3: You pick the Dingus, you you both have to choose
- 57:11Speaker 3: it that responsible.
- 57:13Speaker 4: There can only be one so stressed.
- 57:17Speaker 5: There can be I think the confession has to be
- 57:21Speaker 5: on there boom.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good one.
- 57:24Speaker 4: And the shuttle and the shuttle's conversation between all will
- 57:28Speaker 4: pick a serious one and a funny.
- 57:30Speaker 5: One, well, because they all get moments in that shuttle.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Yeah, I love it. Well, let's let's do some quotes.
- 57:38Speaker 3: Let's show me the money, show show me.
- 57:49Speaker 4: We realized watching this again that we quote this movie
- 57:54Speaker 4: almost daily.
- 57:55Speaker 3: I love that. That's so much.
- 57:56Speaker 4: Fun, and so many different ones just use in our
- 58:01Speaker 4: regular lives, like, oh my gosh, there's another one.
- 58:04Speaker 3: You guys have the deep cuts. I want to hear
- 58:06Speaker 3: him throw them down.
- 58:08Speaker 4: So one of my talks is it's a it's a
- 58:12Speaker 4: throwaway line by Sigourney Weaver. Let's get out of here
- 58:15Speaker 4: before one of those things kills guy.
- 58:19Speaker 3: So much.
- 58:22Speaker 5: It's just even in that moment, there's no stakes for
- 58:26Speaker 5: any of them, none of them like they're the leads.
- 58:28Speaker 5: They can't be killed off.
- 58:29Speaker 3: We're fine.
- 58:30Speaker 4: I just love that she has bought into this idea
- 58:34Speaker 4: that he is going to be the first one to go.
- 58:39Speaker 4: And then another throwaway line is right as they kind
- 58:44Speaker 4: of pan as the crew is almost going to be
- 58:46Speaker 4: beamed up to the ship for the first time, and
- 58:49Speaker 4: they cut to like when Guy joins them, he's with
- 58:52Speaker 4: a girl and she's like, but you live with your
- 58:56Speaker 4: mother runs off, and then Guy joins.
- 58:59Speaker 5: That's pretty great flash.
- 59:05Speaker 4: It's like that line didn't need to be in there,
- 59:07Speaker 4: but it was, and it just heightened it even more.
- 59:11Speaker 4: It made it even better. Yes, so good, literally everything
- 59:16Speaker 4: out of Enrico Calton's.
- 59:19Speaker 5: Yea, I have everything by the Thermians. It's all just
- 59:22Speaker 5: so great vas.
- 59:25Speaker 4: Yes, because of the vocalizations, it's all quotable. Yeah, like
- 59:33Speaker 4: like throwing gasoline on the flame.
- 59:37Speaker 5: And then to follow up, I have written the follow
- 59:39Speaker 5: up to that line. Sam Rockwell looking at Alan Rickman
- 59:42Speaker 5: like an idiot, what, I'm just jazzed about being on
- 59:44Speaker 5: the show.
- 59:50Speaker 3: All the time.
- 59:51Speaker 4: Whenever we're excited, like just excited to be doing something.
- 59:54Speaker 4: I'm just jessed about being on the show.
- 59:58Speaker 2: That that's a great one.
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: I have another Rockwell line. Yeah he might have.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: Yeah, he might be.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: My dude, seen a lot from him. I'm the I'm
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: the one I gotta get out of here. I'm the
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: one that killed to prove the situation is serious.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: Yes, I love that. Yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: Another one that we use all the time is get
- 1:00:17Speaker 4: off the line, guy, off the line, guy.
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: Whoever wrote this episode should die.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: And the whole lead up into that, like she gets
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: her like there's no purpose for these stupid things to
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: be here, doesn't make sense.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: I guess my favorite Sigourney.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so good.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: She just gets the freak out. I love that.
- 1:00:48Speaker 5: Slub had a couple of them, like when he calls
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: him out about the brilliance fear. Just his delivery of
- 1:00:53Speaker 5: that line is perfect. Just Steph by eye.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you're looking at his on He's like they say that,
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: Yeah that happened.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: I guess.
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: Chip's falling apart, Steph Why I yeah that when he
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: tells Rockwell that like maybe you're the plucky comic relief. Yes,
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: and I love that and it exploded. We talked about that, yeah, Rockwell.
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: Sam Rockwell's line of hey, Fred, oh that's not right.
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: No, no, no, he's still kind of watching he's still intrigued.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: You know, how would that work? Yeah?
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: But yeah, it's it was the fingers were flying because
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: I wrote down so many.
- 1:01:45Speaker 4: Another one that we do a lot is like coming
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: off of cerruses. He doesn't understand. Explain as you would
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: a child, which I.
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: Used in a team building thing when I was down
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: in Atlanta doing training. Nice we had to like all
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: talk as a group and come up with one thing,
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: and I said, everyone stopped and I said that line,
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: and no one picked up on. No one got it,
- 1:02:11Speaker 5: No one got it.
- 1:02:12Speaker 2: No, you guys suck.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: You guys hate that.
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: This has been a really useful quote since we've been
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: doing a lot of like house construction, Explain as you
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: would a child, what are we doing.
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: To keep? Could quote the whole movie, So I'll take
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: some of the low hanging fruit, never never surrendered, so good.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Of course, the Bigraptars Hammer by the Sons of war
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: Ven you shall be avenged.
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: I love that.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: Oh I loved. They're trying to explain TV to the
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: Thermians and they're like, they're not all historical document Surely
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: you don't think Gilligan's Island is a and it gets
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: all quiet like those poor people. So that is so funny,
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: so good perfect. You had mentioned it earlier. A bukes
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: but the bio grab Thar's hammer. What a saving. When
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: Tony Shaloub gets beamed up, everybody's you know, they're all
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: freaking out, and he's just chilling. He's like, that was
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: the hell of a thing. That was great. I'll do
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: the last one here. Alan Rickman says, could they be
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: the miners? He's like, sure, they're like three years old.
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: He's like, miners, not minors. You lost me.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: I don't follow.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: What do you got bis?
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: I had the I really loved the I think it's
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: the gourney weaver. The computer's like negative, there is no
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: replacement byllium sphere on the board, and she's like, no,
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: there is no replacement brillium spear on board. When she's
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: like relating, it's like, you know, that's really starting to
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: get annoying.
- 1:04:16Speaker 10: And she's like, look, I have one job on this
- 1:04:18Speaker 10: lousy ship. It's stupid, but I'm gonna do it, okay,
- 1:04:24Speaker 10: And he's like, yeah, sure, no problem. I thought that
- 1:04:26Speaker 10: was really funny.
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: Just trying to fall into their roles.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just so funny. We didn't say this, but
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: when they airlock the two bad guys that are on
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: the ship, I think it's Shloup does it right, He's
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: like he's like, sorry that that door is a little sticky.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: I'll get one of my boys up here with a
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: can of wo so like, yeah, this is my job.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: I'll get one of the guys.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: We'll take care of it. I think it's so hard.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: I know we're not you know, there yet, But like
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: the one thing with the movie that we talked about
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: last night that like I might change is instead of
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: l Larel going with him, he should have gone with them.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: Oh I could.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: See the only thing about it where it was like
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: because he's not really leaving anything from Earth, but she's
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: getting all of our people, and like it seemed like
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: he really fell into his own of like I can
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: be this.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: He could have just done that. I love that take.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that is a good take. That is what
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: should have happened. I like that.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: Yeah, because like hiss, like as he continues to grow again,
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: his line rings are perfect and he does the digital conveyor.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: And although there's not many of them left right, so
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: maybe they settled on Earth or something.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: I think that's one of the weird like moments because
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: they he mentions later that like we're all that's left.
- 1:05:46Speaker 2: That's quite a lot of the spaceport.
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, and they were like the there means were
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: all lined up there.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: But that like that like spaceport was a like a
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: whole of a planet, right too, is what it.
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: Looked like or whatever?
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, that is interesting. I like that take though.
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: It would have been fun if you would have been like,
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: I'm just gonna stay here.
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: I like it.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it'll help populate the thermians, little hybrids babies.
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: I also loved I'm pretty sure it's Sam Rockwell there's
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: a red thingy moving towards the green thing I think
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: for the green thing.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Yeah, that was good.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: I really liked that a lot.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: O guy, did you guys ever watch the show?
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: Oh god, that's so good.
- 1:06:39Speaker 4: So you manage to get your shirt off?
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: I love that too. And just the hey guys came,
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: who wants a grand tour? I know we said that earlier,
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: but it's so funny, good.
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: I love it so much, and just the immediate follow
- 1:06:59Speaker 5: up of anyone.
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Else anybody else, just so perfect.
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: I keep saying that it's it's just it's the thing
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: that wrings through my head of like, this movie is
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: just so good.
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: Yeah, and the getting his shirt off bit was William Shatner,
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: right thing, probably Star Trek it was I think it
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: was Leonard Nimoy that would kind of talk about it
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: annoyingly nice. I always had to be the one to
- 1:07:31Speaker 4: save the day and get his shirt off.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: That's great. I think that was all the ones I
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: wrote down.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: Though, Oh I did the when Tim owns trying to
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: convince Rickman, He's like, you will go out there. He's like,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: I won't. Nothing you say will make me says the
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: show must go on. Damn you you.
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: Oh of course, the it's all oh my god, I
- 1:08:01Speaker 4: knew it.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: I knew what I knew it.
- 1:08:02Speaker 9: I knew it.
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: Just yes that.
- 1:08:08Speaker 5: He's got another one in there. Of when when Tim
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: Allen introduces himself, I am Jason Nesmith. What's your what's
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: your name brand? Yes, he's not quite sure.
- 1:08:20Speaker 4: It's just so dazed is so good because it's it's
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: so much of this sorry, so much of this movie
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: like is just kind of written very straightforward, but it's
- 1:08:34Speaker 4: how everyone delivers totally that makes it gold because like
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: he could have just said Brandon, you know, yeah, everything, Sam.
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: Rockwall, They're all very much in character. Yeah, guy, you
- 1:08:50Speaker 3: have a last name?
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: Do I do?
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: We're all you know. Uh.
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: Also we alluded to it. But when he has to
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: go take the trash out and he's like, I don't
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: think I can properly express how important it is that
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: I need to get back or whatever, he.
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: Says, it's again, Enrico Calotoni.
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: You last hope, and then I actually, my last one
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: I had written down was your ship was a model
- 1:09:32Speaker 4: as big as this A very clever deception. Indeed insert
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: awkward laugh.
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: N so good, so many that.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Nice.
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: I will still say, well, yeah, that is still one
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: of the best.
- 1:09:51Speaker 3: Which one right? Right? Yes?
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: Really that great line?
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: Yea fun Well, why don't we move on to bugs
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: boohoo moments in the Crying Game. I think I need
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: some help from you guys, because it sounded like you
- 1:10:09Speaker 3: had more boohoos than I did. I just picked the
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: one and it was where uh, the guy who's obsessed
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: with with Alan Rickman's character dies and Alan Rickman says
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: the line that you so wanted him to say. But
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: I feel like you guys were touched more by the
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: tim Allen having to explain that it was a TV
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: show that bit, right, You think he might have had
- 1:10:33Speaker 3: some boohoo's there.
- 1:10:35Speaker 5: Yes, I do think that that was and that's mainly
- 1:10:38Speaker 5: because I behooed right, and I thought, if I'm bohooing, okay.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: So I've switched to two for sure. Do you think
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: there are any other moments where he could have behooed?
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: I didn't know if Tim Allen's emotional outburst of Justin
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: Long the first time would have like a booo because
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: it was.
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a good call.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: It didn't get me to boohoo, but I didn't like
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: it like it affected me, But yeah, I didn't. Yeah,
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: that's a good call though it's a prime candidate.
- 1:11:11Speaker 5: But not like not many I think. Outside of that, Yeah,
- 1:11:14Speaker 5: the countdown moment is kind of one of those, like,
- 1:11:17Speaker 5: you know, it's going to be a joke, yep bit
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: things between him and the corney we wouldn't really bring
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: out to the Who's right.
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want you guys to think about it
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: too much because it was just those two guys.
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: You guys nailed that well, Thank you for the assist
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: you guys. Yeah, let's let's do some movie trivia, then
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Bud movie trivia.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: Let's see the scene where Tim Allen is in the
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: men's room overhearing how the cast of Galaxy Quest are
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: nobody's and all the co stars can't stand them, and
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: all that stuff was apparently an actual event that happened
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: in Shatner's life, in William Shatner's life, and he discovered
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: that when he was attending a convention in nineteen eighty six.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: So that's pretty that's pretty wild.
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: First thing to find out.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: Yeah, not great, not the worst thing I've heard the bathroom.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: But Tim Allen admitted that he was quite starstruck when
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: he met Sigourney Weaver, I guess, which I thought was
- 1:12:13Speaker 2: really fun because he's a huge fan of alien and
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: he even got her to sign some of his alien
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: memorabilia between takes. But then but the trivia also got
- 1:12:27Speaker 2: weirder because she ultimately did writing stolen by Tim Allen
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: loved Sigourney Weaver and all it says is which she
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: said made him very upset.
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: I don't get that. So, yeah, that doesn't you think
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: that would be funny? Yeah, would get.
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: More special, like maybe he wanted to flip it. I
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: don't know. Yeah, but yeah, Shatner has seen the film
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: and apparently enjoyed it quite a lot. He said how
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: jealousy was that this production was allowed to introduce the
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Rock Monsters h ten years after Paramount Studios refused to
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: let him include them in Star Trek five the Final
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Frontier because of budgetary reasons. And then he also jokingly
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: said that he had no idea who Tim Allen was
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: supposed to be portraying, but he did recognize someone playing
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: the Michelle Nichols character, so that was kind of fun.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: He's kind of a funny little guy like him. The
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: casting director loved Enrico Colotoni's audition so much that she
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: broke protocol and showed this to the other actors to
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: demonstrate how the Thermian should behave And I think that's
- 1:13:39Speaker 2: that's pretty awesome.
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: Frushed, it's it's it's why he was the dude was
- 1:13:48Speaker 5: because he totally everything.
- 1:13:52Speaker 3: For sure.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: Rickman apparently hated sci fi as a genre, which I
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: think is interesting, but he just couldn't resist taking the
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: part because he thought it was so funny.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: So thankfully.
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: Gwen de Marco laments her TV Guide interview with six
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: paragraphs of my boobs and how they fit into my suit.
- 1:14:14Speaker 2: And apparently this actually happened to Jerry Ryan, who played
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: the seven of nine on Star Trek Voyager. I don't
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: know what's is that the character name seven of nine.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: Yeah, she was.
- 1:14:26Speaker 5: A borg, got unassimilated, and then so she was seven
- 1:14:31Speaker 5: of nine?
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: Got it?
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: Got it?
- 1:14:34Speaker 5: Okay?
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: I never watched those. I was more of a original original.
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: Oh sure, I was next gen.
- 1:14:49Speaker 4: That's okay. We get along.
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: We make it work somehow, we make it somehow. Sam
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: Rockwell has said that he based his portrayal on Bill
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: Paxton's performing.
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: In Aliens, which makes a ton of sense.
- 1:15:04Speaker 2: In particular his elevated fear of being killed and his
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: mental collapse upon seeing a motion detector that shows their
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: enemy closing in on them. So I thought that was fun.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: Like that spin.
- 1:15:16Speaker 5: That spin that Rockwell does when he's holding the gun
- 1:15:18Speaker 5: when they're trying to turn the.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: Valve yes is so perfect. Love that Shloup's character was
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: written and acted with the idea that he was high
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: the entire film, apparently, which is funny, and that's why
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: he's unfazed by everything happening around him, and also holding.
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: Snacks the whole time.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: I just really liked that a lot. This was also
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: Missy Pile's first main role in a feature film, and
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: it was expanded after producers noticed that Sigourney was the
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: only female main character, so thankfully she had.
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: She had quite a bit to the movie. I was
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: glad they did.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: She's really funny. I liked her and everything. Basically, she's good.
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: Sorry, jump ahead a little trivia here. Her role was
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: expanded because Rain Wilson had a bigger part of me
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: to leave because he had gotten cast in a different
- 1:16:15Speaker 5: TV show. So I wonder if she was able to
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: take on some of the stuff.
- 1:16:19Speaker 2: That he was interesting.
- 1:16:20Speaker 4: Sure, maybe he was going to be the love interest.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: Great?
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: Yeah, was that the office then that he got cast?
- 1:16:33Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: Expendables TV show?
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: I thought that was way too early, but I just
- 1:16:42Speaker 2: couldn't remember.
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: So nice. Yeah, and it's fun. Yeah, I feel like
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: he completely disappeared. Mm hmm, yeah, that's why interesting.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: Crazy, let's see.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: At the at the film's ending, Just before the opening
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: credits for the New Galaxy Quest series, the announcer says,
- 1:17:01Speaker 2: now back after eighteen years, the New Adventures This Mirrors
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: star Trek in sixty six was canceled in sixty nine.
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: Oh sorry, So Star Trek was canceled in sixty nine
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: and Star Trek the Next Generation came back in eighty seven,
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: also eighteen years later. So I thought that was kind
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: of fun that they mirrored that too, Like there's some
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: deep love for Star Trek in this for sure. And
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: the scene in which sarahs almost or kills almost everyone
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: on the command deck is very reminiscent of the Kobayashi
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: Maru scene in Star Trek to the Wrath of Khan
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: in which most of the Command deck personnel are killed
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: when then it's later revealed to be a training exercise,
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: and similarly, they activate the Omega thirteen and no one's
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: actually harmed. And I think it's also funny that Sam
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: Rockwell's character is the only one who doesn't actually die,
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: which is funny.
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: Even in that scene, you know.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: He's so worried about it the whole time and it
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: doesn't actually happen. So that's really fun. Yeah, I think
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: that was all the ones I had.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: Though, I just had. Apparently Harold Ramis was signed on
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: to direct, and I'm seeing that when Tim Allen was
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: cast he left the project. It was that correct, Dave,
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: when you watched the making that is correct. Yeah.
- 1:18:25Speaker 5: So Tim Tim sat down with the producer and Ramis
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: and they ended up going like it didn't seem like
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: he was going to get the job, and I think
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: the studio pushed for Tim Allen to get it.
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: Sure.
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it wasn't like it wasn't a bitter thing or
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: anything like that. They Ramis just kind of said like,
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: I see where they're going with this movie, and it's
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: not my vision, so I'm gonna step away. And was it.
- 1:18:47Speaker 4: He worked with Robin Williams and didn't like, Yeah, his process,
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: you know, the process of a comedic actor. Oh, his
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: vision so weird. So he didn't really want to work
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: with the comedian.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: He was just such like, you know, he and Bill
- 1:19:10Speaker 3: Murray were attached at the hip. So that's weird. Yeah,
- 1:19:14Speaker 3: that's strange. But I also saw that it was supposed
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: to be a little darker, probably when Ramus still had it. Yeah,
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: and then they switched it to a PG and had
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: to cut a bunch of stuff. And and the only
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: other thing I saw was that I thought was interesting
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: was that Shaloub originally auditioned for Guy Fleiegman, Sam Rockwell
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: won the role and Shalub was cast as Fred Kwan instead. Yeah,
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: so throw us some trivia. Yeah.
- 1:19:50Speaker 5: The trivia I feel like I should throw it is
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: just go watch Never Surrender. Yeah, galax Quest documentary because
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: it was like everything that I'm pulling is all basically
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: from that. Kevin Klein was originally offered the role of
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: Allen's character, so that was Harold Ramis's first pick was
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: was Kevin Klein.
- 1:20:10Speaker 4: That was the one that like Harold really wanted and
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: the studio wanted. So it was like, yes, everyone agrees,
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: and he was like, Nope, don't want to do it.
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: Pass, So he pulled out Kevin Klin.
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: So many big actors turn it down. Uh, the thirty
- 1:20:29Speaker 4: Rock guy Alec Baldwin wanted it.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Robin Williams all turned it down.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: Well yeah, and then Tim Allen was fighting.
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: For it yeap. Because Tim Allen is a giant sci
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: fi fan. He has tons of memorabilia from like original
- 1:20:50Speaker 4: sci fi movies, one of the original gourts from the
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: day There stood Still.
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: I love it, that's pushed those wet it.
- 1:21:06Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, there's there's so much from that documentary that
- 1:21:11Speaker 5: they go into about like having a change up the
- 1:21:12Speaker 5: sets because like, originally it was vision that there was
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: gonna be like a nineteen seventies cool, like campy type thing.
- 1:21:19Speaker 5: And then they switched directors and switched how they were
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: going to make the movie. And so when Raymus was
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: doing it, it was he wanted to make it something
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: like Spaceballs, sure, like very slapsticky thing. And then the
- 1:21:33Speaker 5: new director came in and that's when it was kind
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: of an R rated comedy but not as slapsticky. And
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: then rug Rats the movie was released and made a
- 1:21:43Speaker 5: bunch of money, and so they said, no, you got
- 1:21:46Speaker 5: to make a PG movie, and so they'd gotten down
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: to PG thirteen and then they went one more crack
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: at editing and got it down.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: To a PG. Wow, that's pretty wild.
- 1:21:55Speaker 5: Yep, that's not a flop. On release, it did make money,
- 1:22:00Speaker 5: but it wasn't like it didn't hit its called classic
- 1:22:03Speaker 5: status until much later. But like everybody who left all
- 1:22:07Speaker 5: said they loved it and thought it was brilliant.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like they did not market it well
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: because I mean I watched a ton of movies like
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: and I still do, and I didn't know that that
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: movie was going to be like that at all, So
- 1:22:20Speaker 3: I was like, oh, that's another sci fi I think,
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: but I feel like they kind of failed marketing wise.
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: You and Sigourney Weaver agree.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, oh okay, that's a good company. Yeah yeah, why not? Right? Right?
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: For sure? She did.
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: She wore fake breasts and the blonde wig, which apparently
- 1:22:41Speaker 5: she would throw at people when she had to take
- 1:22:43Speaker 5: them off. It was like away to keep lighthearted, and
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: she kept a blonde wig because she was having so
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: much fun in it.
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: That's fun. I like that. That's great. Yeah.
- 1:22:52Speaker 5: So she she identified closer to Tony Madison slash Gwenda
- 1:22:57Speaker 5: Marco than she did Gripley more there's person than that person,
- 1:23:02Speaker 5: which is why she just, yeah, had an absolute ball
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: doing it.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: That's cool, that's awesome.
- 1:23:08Speaker 4: I got boobed.
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: I got boobed.
- 1:23:12Speaker 4: Got today.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:23:19Speaker 5: And then just the like the funny bit about her
- 1:23:21Speaker 5: shirt like getting more and more ripped open.
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that was so funny.
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: So funny though. Ah, just a wonderful little like part
- 1:23:30Speaker 5: of her character to.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: Like having having Tim Allen do his little rolls. Yes,
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: having him do his little rolls. That was a very
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: William Shattoner.
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: Is that even helping I was able to shoot the
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: bad guy.
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: It's true. It does come back.
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: Surprise.
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: Of all of the actors we've talked about, we didn't
- 1:24:00Speaker 5: like talk about the villains at all.
- 1:24:01Speaker 2: Oh yeah, good call. I know he actually kind of
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: liked that guy. I thought he was good. He's great, big,
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: the big bad I don't know what his name is,
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: but zero.
- 1:24:10Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:24:11Speaker 4: I really like that voice actor. I'm sure it wasn't
- 1:24:14Speaker 4: the same body actor Robin Sachs. I really like that. Yeah,
- 1:24:20Speaker 4: I think.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: Yeah, he's done a ton of voice stuff.
- 1:24:23Speaker 4: Again, it's because of how he says things. My brother
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: and I always wanted to quote his stuff.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: Deliver the Divorce. He's great, nice, well, Josh Vinda. Will
- 1:24:39Speaker 3: there be a sequel? I did see there were plans
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: to make a sequel, but the untimely death villain Rickman
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: on January fourteen, twenty sixteen, appeared to bring it to
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: an end. However, in twenty twenty one, there were some
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: interviews Sigourney Weaver and Tim Allen stated that they might
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: be moving forward with it after all. Oh wow, but
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: that's all I've seen.
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: That'd be interesting.
- 1:25:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that I
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: feel like the time may have come and gone for that.
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: And at this point, it's so it's such such a
- 1:25:17Speaker 4: cult classic right now, I just feel like anything would
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: be doing it a disservice.
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: I don't know, Yeah, I kind of agree, I think
- 1:25:26Speaker 5: because it was gonna be I think it was gonna
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: be on Amazon Prime and they were all signed on
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: for it, and then like knowing that there were scenes
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: for Rickman written, and just like it's kind of like
- 1:25:39Speaker 5: like they're talking about making another Star Trek film. But
- 1:25:42Speaker 5: Anton Yelkin, right, like right, I think you guys can
- 1:25:48Speaker 5: let this go. It's been so many years, like and
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: it'll be hard to like explain that away that I
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: think with Rickman passing and just the fact that it
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: was such a perfect ensemble cast. Yeah, I don't think
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: it's necessary.
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: Well, and so often those don't work anyway, right when
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: you try to recapture it, you know, the magic or whatever.
- 1:26:06Speaker 5: Like and for anyone who really and I know I've
- 1:26:09Speaker 5: said this so many times, but that Never Surrendered documentary
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: is kind of like a sure, it's kind of a
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: pseudo sequel to it because they go so deep into
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: it and you get to relift so many moments.
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: You get all the nostalgia of it. Yeah, that's yeaol.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: Yeah, like for anybody that's like really Jones in for
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: a sequel. It's something that you can pop on and
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: get back in the world for an hour and a
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: half without actually watching the movie.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: Sure. Nice, that's cool. I love that. Yeah, I like that.
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: Would would you guys like to play a game? Oh? Yes, games?
- 1:26:36Speaker 3: I made a starting five. No, I'm going to name
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: my five favorite actors from a particular film. When you
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: know the film, you ring in with your name, so
- 1:26:45Speaker 3: I know who's ringing in. Uh. If you get it wrong,
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: there won't be any negative points, but you won't be
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: able to guess again for that movie. If there are
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: actors' names remaining, you can guess those for a point each.
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: Another person can steal if you get any of those
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: names wrong. And all of these films have something in common.
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: When you know the theme, you can ring in at
- 1:27:08Speaker 3: any time for a point. Nice. We feel good. I
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: love it.
- 1:27:13Speaker 5: Other than being nervous, I always play along in my
- 1:27:14Speaker 5: car and I'm great there.
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's tough when you're actually doing it. I haven't
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: had to do it much, but I have not done
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: great with this game because I like clam up, so
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: no Bugs has gotten really good at this, so I
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: get to do it. I sucked last game though, so.
- 1:27:32Speaker 4: You I will probably not contribute anything, but I will try.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: Okay, that's all I love it for. It'll try, all right. Well,
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: let's start off. Here's number one. The first name River Phoenix. Oh,
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: the second name John Ree Stavies.
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: Bugs Bugs, Uh, Indiana Jones, and the last Crusade.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: You said that so fast?
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: Oh I was.
- 1:28:01Speaker 4: I actually would have known this one.
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: Three names remaining?
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: Oh, I got to do the thing. Uh Harrison Ford
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: Sean correct.
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: You may not get this one, you guys. Oh, it's
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: the dude.
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: I don't know his name.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Four it could be her too, I don't know b
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: Do you guys know another name in the last.
- 1:28:25Speaker 5: Who said Benholm?
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: Elliott Boom Knive. Good job on the board. You got
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: three that.
- 1:28:37Speaker 4: I would have known that one.
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: It is my favorite one of those.
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: It is his face the best. Let's go to number two.
- 1:28:50Speaker 3: First name Eric Banna. Oh, the second name Zachary Quinto, Daped,
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: Dave star Trek. Must be three names remaining. You've got
- 1:29:07Speaker 3: that very fast as well.
- 1:29:09Speaker 7: Uh?
- 1:29:09Speaker 3: Right, This is tough because there's a lot of people
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: that there are the people that I picked, ye, he said,
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: I said, Eric Banna and Zachary Quinto, those are the
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: two that are gone.
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: So Chris Pine, correct, you just keep going back to
- 1:29:28Speaker 5: Eric Banner. Oh yes, Simon Peg.
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: You got it. You can, you.
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: Can, Jenny Simon Peg too, I get one more.
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: You've gotten four.
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: And I can't think of his name. And it's another
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: Buggy because he's the judge drag actor.
