And potatoes are in everything, right? Lucas: Exactly. So let's start with tomato. In Amharic, tomato is ቲማቲም. Say it with me: ቲማቲም. Luna: ቲማቲም. That sounds like 'timatim'. Lucas: Great ear! It's similar. Now potato is ድንች. Repeat: ድንች. Luna: ድንች. That one's trickier—'dunch'? Lucas: Close! ድንች. Think of it as 'dunch' with a soft 'n'. Perfect. Let's use them in sentences. I want a tomato—ቲማቲም እፈልጋለሁ. Luna, you try. Luna: ቲማቲም እፈልጋለሁ. So I'm saying 'I want a tomato.' Lucas: Yes! And I want a potato is ድንች እፈልጋለሁ. Your turn. Luna: ድንች እፈልጋለሁ. Oof, that's a mouthful. But I'll get it. Lucas: You already did. Now, if you're at the market and you see a tomato, you can say ይህ ቲማቲም ነው—'this is a tomato.' Or ይህ ድንች ነው for potato. Luna: Okay, so ይህ ቲማቲም ነው, ይህ ድንች ነው.
