- 1:42Speaker 1: just keep it on topic. That's all I'm saying. And
- 1:45Speaker 1: with that being said, no announcements this week. Big shout
- 1:50Speaker 1: out to hip hopdx dot com, Double xlmag DJ booth
- 1:55Speaker 1: dot net in a couple of places where I get
- 1:57Speaker 1: some of my stories from.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Let's get right into the business though same.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Cameron announced recently that he will be releasing a memoir.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Let's go to hip hopdx dot com to get the
- 2:11Speaker 1: details before I tell you how I feel, because how
- 2:13Speaker 1: I feel is probably how you feel. This is on
- 2:16Speaker 1: hip hopdx dot com. Cameron announces he will be releasing
- 2:20Speaker 1: a memoir for publishing Giant Simon and Schuster after inking
- 2:28Speaker 1: a seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars deal. The book
- 2:33Speaker 1: will chronicle the dipset legends, rise in hip hop, and
- 2:37Speaker 1: late career pivot to being a successful media personality with
- 2:42Speaker 1: his own talk shows. Killer Cam's memoir will also take
- 2:47Speaker 1: fans behind the scenes on some of the most iconic
- 2:50Speaker 1: moments throughout his electric life and career. And here's a
- 2:55Speaker 1: quote from Cam, I'm happy to have this deal done.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Hopefully the book will be released February of twenty twenty six.
- 3:03Speaker 1: And that everyone can take something from my memoir when
- 3:06Speaker 1: they read it and really hold up. I'm looking at this,
- 3:11Speaker 1: and says Cameron Incs.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Six digit Okay, whatever, I thought it was a sixth
- 3:15Speaker 3: book deal. But it's just six digits, which is nothing
- 3:19Speaker 3: to sneeze at. Do you want a Cameron book, a memoir,
- 3:24Speaker 3: a retelling of his life story and moments and things
- 3:27Speaker 3: like that. I am definitely interested in this book from
- 3:33Speaker 3: the standpoint of Cameron, from what I know as a fan,
- 3:39Speaker 3: as a not only a fan of hip hop, but
- 3:43Speaker 3: just a fan of his music in general, and being
- 3:47Speaker 3: of a certain age where I was there for when
- 3:51Speaker 3: he first got on you know, and the.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Type of music he made and the labels he was
- 3:56Speaker 2: a part of.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I was there for the Rockefeller situation when he joined,
- 4:00Speaker 1: when he left all the things there Rucker Park, with Jimmy,
- 4:07Speaker 1: Jim Jones getting dropped, people accusing him of running on
- 4:11Speaker 1: Jim Jones.
- 4:13Speaker 2: When you watch Cam talk.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Especially when he addresses these stories of the past, he's
- 4:21Speaker 1: already given away way too much that could have been
- 4:25Speaker 1: sold in a book to be honest, right, get people
- 4:30Speaker 1: back to reading books. But essentially he's given away some
- 4:34Speaker 1: things that I've always wanted to know right via interviews
- 4:38Speaker 1: and all of that's cool, and I'm pretty sure he
- 4:40Speaker 1: has more to share and more detail, and not just
- 4:43Speaker 1: about gossip and hip hop stuff for him personally and
- 4:47Speaker 1: things that has happened. One thing I've liked about Caim
- 4:50Speaker 1: is that he will rap about what he's going through,
- 4:55Speaker 1: right like when Cam because some of y'all don't know
- 4:58Speaker 1: Cam used to be like that pause, but like, you know,
- 5:03Speaker 1: kind of built he had. He wasn't a skinny dude.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And I remember when he lost a ton of weight
- 5:09Speaker 1: and everybody was like, is you know, especially back in
- 5:12Speaker 1: the nineties, it was one of two things, you have
- 5:14Speaker 1: aids or you on drugs one of the other. So
- 5:17Speaker 1: people assume those but what really happened was he had
- 5:22Speaker 1: an illness that caused him to lose weight IBS irritable
- 5:28Speaker 1: bowel syndrome. He rapped about it in a dope record,
- 5:31Speaker 1: to be honest, but it was about his life. So
- 5:34Speaker 1: that's what I'm most interested in with Camp. It's not
- 5:38Speaker 1: only because he has a story to tell that has
- 5:41Speaker 1: all these different things that happened in his life, including
- 5:46Speaker 1: as a celebrity as a rap star, but He's good
- 5:51Speaker 1: at telling his story. He's just really good. So I
- 5:54Speaker 1: can't see this book being anything but a bye when
- 5:59Speaker 1: it drops, like, buy it when it This is better
- 6:01Speaker 1: than the album. I know some people want an album,
- 6:04Speaker 1: but I'd rather I like, sometimes i'd rather hear Cam
- 6:09Speaker 1: talk about it, then I would like to read about it.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And I'm pretty sure there'll be some I soon, some
- 6:18Speaker 1: mention of Jim Jones, who was, you know, part of
- 6:21Speaker 1: his life. You know, Cam didn't do Dipset all by himself,
- 6:24Speaker 1: and it wasn't him and just Jimmy, right, it was,
- 6:29Speaker 1: it was the whole crew. So I'll be curious to
- 6:32Speaker 1: see his direction. I hope he talks about a lot
- 6:35Speaker 1: of these different things that people know or sort of know,
- 6:40Speaker 1: even his own experiences, right, talking about getting shot DC
- 6:44Speaker 1: and the guy threw up the rock sign and you know,
- 6:48Speaker 1: like I wonder if he's just gonna go there.
- 6:51Speaker 2: In a memoir.
- 6:52Speaker 1: And obviously he'll talk about his mother and that importance
- 6:56Speaker 1: and stuff like that. So I'm looking forward to it.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You leave your comments in a comments section below. Next story.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Freddy Gibbs and Alchemists have now announced a sequel to
- 7:11Speaker 1: their collaborative album Alfredo, the original Alfredo, I believe. I
- 7:18Speaker 1: can't remember when they dropped originally, it had to be
- 7:23Speaker 1: maybe three years ago. His's my thoughts on this announcement
- 7:30Speaker 1: based off of Alfredo last time. First of all, Alfredo
- 7:33Speaker 1: was Grammy nominated. I do remember that part, and I
- 7:36Speaker 1: think it's either twenty twenty two or twenty twenty three
- 7:39Speaker 1: that it was Grammy nominated. As a big fan of
- 7:44Speaker 1: Freddy Gibbs and also being a fan of Alchemists, I
- 7:51Speaker 1: was a little underwhelmed.
- 7:53Speaker 2: It had more to do with the production.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And when I say that, it's only because Freddy Giz
- 8:00Speaker 1: at one point, probably like twenty twenty on, like maybe
- 8:06Speaker 1: even twenty twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen, like he put out
- 8:10Speaker 1: a lot of contents. So there was like a certain sound,
- 8:14Speaker 1: a certain energy behind Freddy Gibbs his music and Alchemists
- 8:19Speaker 1: in recent years had really fallen into this drumless, slow,
- 8:24Speaker 1: super slow tempo vibe kind of sound, which to me
- 8:31Speaker 1: doesn't mix well with Freddy Gibs because he has a
- 8:34Speaker 1: rapid way of spitting right, and that's really the best
- 8:38Speaker 1: Freddy Gibbs, to be honest. If he has to slow
- 8:41Speaker 1: it down, it's still good, but he can really only
- 8:43Speaker 1: slow it down to a certain point because the way
- 8:45Speaker 1: he punctuates his syllables.
- 8:48Speaker 2: That's part of the reason why I like him.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And if he has to slow it down some because
- 8:52Speaker 1: Alchemist is on this slow, delayed kind of sound and
- 8:58Speaker 1: beat rhythm, then is he really producing Freddy Gibbs to success.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Well apparently yeah, right Grammy nomination. A bunch of people
- 9:09Speaker 1: love that album. I do not hate it. I like it,
- 9:12Speaker 1: but it's not one of my goal tos. So with
- 9:15Speaker 1: Alfredo Too being announced, I think we'll get something that's good.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I don't think we'll get something that's better, but I
- 9:26Speaker 1: would like to be surprised. I mean, it's just kind
- 9:30Speaker 1: of where things are as far as Alchemist's production, so
- 9:34Speaker 1: can't complain. I'm not sure when this is scheduled to drop.
- 9:38Speaker 1: It just says coming soon, so we'll see. But I
- 9:43Speaker 1: am anticipating it because again, it's Freddy Gibbs. Lyrically, he's
- 9:50Speaker 1: just one of the dopest MC's out there spitting. He's
- 9:54Speaker 1: top five for me when it comes to spinners right,
- 9:57Speaker 1: and it's not just barwork his again, his de livery
- 10:01Speaker 1: slash flow wordplay tendency to be serious and humorous genuinely
- 10:10Speaker 1: in his lyrics, and it always makes for great entertainment.
- 10:14Speaker 1: And if you are watching this and you're like, yeah,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I've heard of the dude, but I ain't never really
- 10:18Speaker 1: check out his music, I wouldn't say Alfredo is the
- 10:20Speaker 1: first you should listen to, because I just feel like
- 10:23Speaker 1: he has more music like with mad Lib and other
- 10:27Speaker 1: producers that are a little bit a little bit more
- 10:31Speaker 1: high energy, and to me, that feels more like essential
- 10:34Speaker 1: or not hesential, but quassential. Freddy Gibbs Like, that's Freddy
- 10:40Speaker 1: Gibbs Lane, that's his pocket with Alchemists. It's like, this
- 10:45Speaker 1: is a project with this producer and it sounds this way,
- 10:50Speaker 1: which again doesn't sound bad. It's just that I'm going
- 10:54Speaker 1: to check it out because I like both, you know,
- 10:58Speaker 1: both dudes producers and rapper. But I just remember how
- 11:03Speaker 1: I felt when I heard the first one, and I
- 11:05Speaker 1: was just kind of like, I like it, but I
- 11:07Speaker 1: don't know. I guess I expect a little bit more,
- 11:09Speaker 1: so we'll see Alfredo.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Two.
- 11:12Speaker 1: Are you anticipating that album? Let me know, leave your
- 11:15Speaker 1: comments in the section below. And lastly, unless you've been
- 11:24Speaker 1: under a rock on social media. The Clips have social
- 11:30Speaker 1: media in a choke hold, every interview, every single every
- 11:38Speaker 1: by the CD, by the album here, which that vinyl
- 11:43Speaker 1: looks kind of crazy. I might buy it without even
- 11:44Speaker 1: hearing it, which is which is something.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I don't do every leak.
- 11:51Speaker 1: So the Clips I think officially have two singles out right.
- 11:57Speaker 1: In my opinion, both of them are fire. They also
- 12:02Speaker 1: did a I guess like a listening party on a
- 12:07Speaker 1: rooftop and a number of people were filming as they
- 12:13Speaker 1: played records, and they posted some of these clips no
- 12:18Speaker 1: pun intended from the listening party. Two clips in particular,
- 12:25Speaker 1: or one in particular that's a clip, the other one
- 12:27Speaker 1: I don't think I saw it, but I heard the track.
- 12:31Speaker 1: One clip you're basically getting Kendrick Lamar's full verse from
- 12:36Speaker 1: the song he's featured on on The Clips's forthcoming album,
- 12:40Speaker 1: Like God saw Their mout Right. I listened to it,
- 12:45Speaker 1: but then I cut it off right not because it
- 12:48Speaker 1: was bad, because it was flames and I wanted to
- 12:50Speaker 1: hear it in full glory right with my headphones the
- 12:54Speaker 1: over I want to zone in when I hear the
- 12:57Speaker 1: Clips album. But then also I heard some of Naz's
- 13:01Speaker 1: verse from the song he's featured on the album and
- 13:05Speaker 1: that sound five. So and I know for some people
- 13:10Speaker 1: maybe there's even more out there, But for me, I've
- 13:12Speaker 1: heard the two singles. I've heard these portions of these
- 13:17Speaker 1: snippets from the album, which is kind of like hearing
- 13:20Speaker 1: four songs already off the album. I don't want to
- 13:22Speaker 1: hear no more. You know why, because the Internet is
- 13:25Speaker 1: in a frenzy. We haven't heard one thing whack yet,
- 13:30Speaker 1: which with that happening, and I think they're building it organically.
- 13:35Speaker 1: At first, I was like, this album's too far out, man.
- 13:38Speaker 1: People are going to start the loose them, know they not.
- 13:42Speaker 1: The anticipation is through the roof, and I don't know
- 13:47Speaker 1: if the Internet can handle it. If the rest of
- 13:50Speaker 1: the album is made. And some people say to themselves,
- 13:53Speaker 1: if those four joints are that hot, how can the
- 13:56Speaker 1: rest of the album be made?
- 13:57Speaker 2: It happens.
- 14:00Speaker 1: Sometimes, you like, all I heard was Flames and some
- 14:04Speaker 1: other songs on the track Listen you ain't here? Yeah,
- 14:06Speaker 1: you be like, oh, I kind of don't like this
- 14:08Speaker 1: one and I don't like that one.
- 14:11Speaker 2: It happens.
- 14:13Speaker 1: So I'm posing the question, is there too much hype
- 14:19Speaker 1: for this album. And I know that sounds weird to say,
- 14:22Speaker 1: because you want a lot of hype, a lot of
- 14:26Speaker 1: anticipation for not only the return of the Clips to
- 14:30Speaker 1: hip hop, but the fact that it sounds so good
- 14:34Speaker 1: for the production par real on the production sounds so good,
- 14:38Speaker 1: Like it's not just the fact that the beats knock.
- 14:42Speaker 1: I could tell that this album has been mastered. It
- 14:48Speaker 1: sounds like it was massive by Doctor Dre because to me,
- 14:50Speaker 1: that's the bar. Like I love the album Compton, But
- 14:54Speaker 1: what I love about even more than the music, and
- 14:57Speaker 1: I know a lot of people didn't really care for
- 14:59Speaker 1: that album, it's some of it's the best quality I've
- 15:04Speaker 1: ever heard in hip hop. When I hear albums like
- 15:07Speaker 1: Compton from Doctor Dre, when he did Missionary with Snoop,
- 15:11Speaker 1: when he did the what is It Casablanca with Marsha
- 15:15Speaker 1: and Brosier, Like sound quality alone, it sounds crazy. And
- 15:21Speaker 1: when you listen to the Clips official singles that you
- 15:24Speaker 1: could listen to on streaming services, it's the same kind
- 15:28Speaker 1: of deal. It's like yo, And it's not just the
- 15:32Speaker 1: music and the mastering, right, because all that sounds pristine.
- 15:35Speaker 1: But the Clips are known for being articulate as hell,
- 15:43Speaker 1: right with every word, with every syllable. They make sure
- 15:48Speaker 1: everything is clear from their performance. So when you match
- 15:53Speaker 1: that with the mixing and mastering and then what Parrella
- 15:57Speaker 1: is doing with the production, that plays a role, right like,
- 16:02Speaker 1: because the songs have to be good for us to
- 16:04Speaker 1: like them. But once you get past that, the sound quality,
- 16:08Speaker 1: the delivery, what's being said, all of that comes into play.
- 16:13Speaker 1: And this album can't drop soon enough. It's supposed to
- 16:17Speaker 1: be dropping on July eleventh, and we probably got what
- 16:23Speaker 1: three weeks or so left till we get there, and
- 16:29Speaker 1: I'm thinking we'll get one more single before then.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Right. It's almost as if they're doing something.
- 16:36Speaker 1: New school and old school at the same time, and
- 16:40Speaker 1: I think it's working in their favor.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Right back in the days, you know, you're getting.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Hit with singles or the big single, and then another
- 16:49Speaker 1: single as the album is dropping, and then a third
- 16:52Speaker 1: one some time after they've sold to keep the sales going.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I feel like that's what they're building with Dys. They're
- 17:00Speaker 1: building the anticipation for this album. And I'm not gonna
- 17:04Speaker 1: lie to you, it's been a long time since I've
- 17:08Speaker 1: pre ordered an album. Long time I usually wait because
- 17:15Speaker 1: of streaming services to listen to music, and if I
- 17:18Speaker 1: like it a lot, then I go and buy because
- 17:21Speaker 1: I'm like, man, I'm listening to it so much, I
- 17:23Speaker 1: might as well support in a you know, in a
- 17:26Speaker 1: monetary way. But with this, I'm like, I might as
- 17:31Speaker 1: well pre ordered. I want to own this. How can
- 17:35Speaker 1: it be whack? That's what I'm saying, how can it
- 17:39Speaker 1: be whack? You got Nas and Kendrick on the same album.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Na's coming off of adult run with hit Boy. He
- 17:47Speaker 1: also got his own rollout with DJ Premer Happening that
- 17:50Speaker 1: we hope is hot this year. And then Kendrick, we
- 17:55Speaker 1: already know what's happened with him with the album with
- 17:57Speaker 1: g and next the Battle.
- 17:59Speaker 2: The tour, the super Bowl.
- 18:02Speaker 1: It's almost like and just to cherry on top of
- 18:06Speaker 1: the fact that def Jam passed on this project, jay
- 18:09Speaker 1: Z said, I'm not afraid of no ghosts.
- 18:14Speaker 2: And it's like, y'all could come.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Over here to rock Nation and we know these artists
- 18:19Speaker 1: have the freedom of expression to do this and it
- 18:23Speaker 1: sounded hot. To answer my own question, clips album overhyped yep,
- 18:32Speaker 1: and it deserves to be because it's the best thing
- 18:36Speaker 1: cooking right now far and we haven't even heard it,
- 18:40Speaker 1: but I'm anticipating, you know, some great things. Maybe there's
- 18:44Speaker 1: a whole verse on it too, but who knows. What
- 18:49Speaker 1: do you think? Are you anticipating the Clips brand new album?
- 18:53Speaker 1: Let God sort them out? Are you a Clips fan?
- 18:56Speaker 1: Do you like the records you've heard? Do you like
- 18:58Speaker 1: the snippets of features from Kendrick and Nas? Leave your
